- 2:37On the Pat McAfee show, Tyrese Halberton opened up about his
- 2:41Achilles injury, his first public statement since his
- 2:44injury. He said that the injury felt
- 2:46like he got kicked by a ball in the back of his leg and and he
- 2:51knew it was a torn the moment he fell down.
- 2:54He added that he tried to replicate Kobe Bryant's
- 2:59unbelievable game where he shot free throws after tearing his
- 3:03Achilles but knew that he couldn't.
- 3:05He added that the injury didn't come as a result of the
- 3:10workload. Just saying it was a bad lucky
- 3:14break. He also doesn't blame the fact
- 3:17that the season was too long or players are playing too many
- 3:22minutes per game. Hal Burton visited Kevin Durant
- 3:27after his Achilles surgery and KD jokingly said he was sick of
- 3:32being known as the Achilles Achilles guy after both Jason
- 3:37Tatum and Damian Lillard visited him to The Pacers confirm that
- 3:42Halliburton has no chance of playing in 2025 NBA season.
- 3:48Even if they are, even if they go to the playoffs.
- 3:54You know, it's funny because we talk about these Achilles tears
- 3:57and we see it going on right now in the NFL.
- 4:00And I've asked many different X players or even coaches that
- 4:05have come on this show or even offset.
- 4:07I've spoken, you know, on social media and, and got into a
- 4:11conversation. Or what do you think is the
- 4:12reason why these Achilles injuries are happening?
- 4:15And in football, a lot of people are saying it's the turf, it's
- 4:18the the cleats that they're using, being that they're much
- 4:22deeper cleats. And depending on the position
- 4:25and that weight and the athletic ability some of these guys have,
- 4:28it's been more often than then that there's been Achilles after
- 4:34Achilles after Achilles injury in the NFL.
- 4:38When you talk about the NBA, there were a few ones over the
- 4:43years that really came to me. And I'll I'll give you the ones
- 4:46that really stuck out to me. First it was Kobe Bryant.
- 4:49Kobe Bryant, when he tore his Achilles and he was in his mid
- 4:5330s. This guy was at the tail end of
- 4:56his career when he tore his Achilles.
- 4:57He was never the same player. He never was.
- 5:00And if you watch the Kobe Bryant documentary that's been on
- 5:04Showtime plenty of times before he passed away, it was a very
- 5:08interesting documentary because at the time that he tore his
- 5:12Achilles, he had the camera following him and he he, he
- 5:15couldn't believe how much work he had to put in to getting back
- 5:19on an NBA court. And he was never the same.
- 5:22The other one that really stuck out to me over the years was
- 5:25Klay Thompson. Klay Thompson, remember, he tore
- 5:29his ACL, if I'm not mistaken first, and then he tore his
- 5:34Achilles. And as soon as he when you get
- 5:38when you tear your ACL, you usually can come back at full
- 5:41strength. We've seen it, we've seen
- 5:43Peterson do it, we've seen NBA players do it.
- 5:46I've seen it plenty of times that people from a torn ACL has
- 5:50come back. When you tear your Achilles,
- 5:54your Achilles where you're jumping and doing all those
- 5:58things on a basketball court that not normal people could do,
- 6:02the chances you coming back and being the same player is slim to
- 6:06none. So we go and we we can argue
- 6:09these points about what Tyrese Halliburton saying he's trying
- 6:13to figure it out. The NBA is trying to figure out
- 6:15how they can clean it up. And Adam Silver and the LJA is
- 6:18sitting with their their captains.
- 6:20As we all know, LeBron James is the lead general.
- 6:23And then you have Carmelo Anthony, who's no part, no more
- 6:26part of the the NBA, but he's there.
- 6:28The LJ. Chris Paul, Dwyane Wade, all
- 6:31those guys they're they're sitting there talking to the LJA
- 6:35and making decisions for the NBA.
- 6:37As we all know, Dwyane Wade is a a co-owner or peace owner over
- 6:40there Utah, I think Chris. Paul's now the leader of the NF
- 6:43NBA players. And now you have Carmelo Anthony
- 6:45coming out and saying he wants to own a team in the future,
- 6:47too. What's next, ladies and
- 6:49gentlemen? You could buy the Knicks from
- 6:50James Dolan. Enough said.
- 6:52The fact here is Tyrese Halliburton is one of the best
- 6:57young point guards in the NBA. Lengthy, talented, gifted
- 7:01athlete, tore his Achilles. He's in his like early 20s and
- 7:07you're tearing your Achilles early that so you question why
- 7:10is this happening to young guys? That's what these guys haven't
- 7:15played as long as like Luca or in Lukas been in a league for
- 7:19five years, but not even him, Yokich or any or the Greek Freak
- 7:24at Yannis, anyone of these guys that are in their 30s now.
- 7:28And you wonder, hey, who and what and how are we going to
- 7:31blame this story on something where the LJ can figure out how
- 7:36they can clean up this mess? There is no way to clean up this
- 7:40mess because I have the reason I told Fish my opinion on why I
- 7:45think the NBA needs to look not at the league as it's 82 games
- 7:52or the coach is playing them too long of minutes as we know
- 7:56Thibodeau did for the New York Knicks or any excuse to say that
- 8:00it it doesn't make sense. Here's the sense here I own and
- 8:05hold on. I want to show you guys
- 8:06something. I'm a sneaker collector, OK,
- 8:11This is a sneaker. You see it right over here.
- 8:14This is a this is an air. This is an air Max.
- 8:18Very known, very nice, very nice color.
- 8:20I've got 300 sneakers. I threw it on the ground.
- 8:23I got 300 sneakers in my studio set up to show when people come
- 8:27to the studio. And I, I, I look at these
- 8:30sneakers because I'm a sneaker head.
- 8:32That's what they call us. They call us sneaker heads.
- 8:35These NBA players, they're sneaker heads too.
- 8:38These hip hop artists are sneaker heads too.
- 8:41When I look at a sneaker from the 90s and I, I should have
- 8:45brought one because I have it over there.
- 8:47I, I have the Charles Barkley's OK and Charles Barkley had a
- 8:51very common popular basketball Nike shoe in the 90s and he wore
- 8:58it and a lot of people went out there and bought I want, you
- 9:03know, they're crying with their mommy.
- 9:05Give me a Michael Gowdy. I want to my guy Dennis Rodman.
- 9:07I got him angry. But you know, all these idiots,
- 9:10they're out there screaming Bah, Bah, Bah, Bah Bah Christmas
- 9:12time, Thanksgiving or back to school.
- 9:14Daddy and mommy, I want my 2 Jordans for the year.
- 9:17We all know this. You look at the sneaker now and
- 9:21you look at the sneaker then the sneakers then were built to fit
- 9:26every foot. That's what they were.
- 9:29I mean, they made these sneakers, they didn't mimic
- 9:32these guys feets. They they're not using
- 9:34scientific, scientific padding and and trying to calculate what
- 9:40weight fits better on this guy's foot than that guy's foot or
- 9:44that woman's foot. No, it's not like that.
- 9:47What they do now is they custom make the shoe.
- 9:50They make it even cheaper than they did in those days because
- 9:55they're really. And when did basketball shoes
- 9:56become in low tops? I don't.
- 9:58Remember, I'm going to explain something to you.
- 9:59I'm going to give you, I'm going to give you my theory here and
- 10:02I'm going to teach you a little bit about sneakers that some
- 10:04people, if you're not a sneaker head, you wouldn't even know
- 10:08when you buy sneakers. Now you're buying, you're buying
- 10:11a Yanis sneaker because you want to play basketball and you want
- 10:13to use this sneaker. Yanis wears it.
- 10:15I want to wear it right. You go out and buy a Yanis shoe
- 10:18right now, the the pressure that it has on your ankles, you can't
- 10:23wear it. It it, it puts too much
- 10:26pressure. And guess what?
- 10:27It's lighter. It's a lighter sneaker, so it's
- 10:30not heavy. So here's here, here's what
- 10:33happens when you have a lighter sneaker.
- 10:34You roll your ankles or you tear your Achilles because there's
- 10:39more pressure on the part of your ankle to the the top of
- 10:43your Achilles then the sneakers that were made in the 90s when
- 10:48it was more built for the, the flat part of your, your foot or
- 10:53they had weight and paired behind it.
- 10:55It was very well built on the, on the calf end of the shoe.
- 11:00OK, that and, and you could see it.
- 11:02I could show you right now the difference between if you had a
- 11:06if you went and bought an Anthony Hardaway sneaker.
- 11:10Penny was a very popular player for the Orlando Magic, and he
- 11:14had those air, remember a sneaker, the air on the side of
- 11:17it, OK. Like the Nike went like this.
- 11:20Like that little Nike. It had air.
- 11:22Yep, it had all different. He had all different styles.
- 11:24OK, here's the thing. I have his old sneaker and I
- 11:30have his new sneaker that they redid in the now in from from
- 11:34the 90s all the way to the 2000 twenties.
- 11:37That's that's like 30 something years.
- 11:39They're significantly different in many different ways.
- 11:43The weight, the padding on the inside, they're lighter, so it's
- 11:47more pressure on the calf end and the ankle end of the sneaker
- 11:53when you try to jump and you try to run with them.
- 11:55So what does this tell me? And I'm I'm going to give you
- 11:57guys my thought on why the Achilles are happening in the
- 12:00NBA. It's the sneaker, it's Nike,
- 12:03it's Reebok now with Shaquille O'Neal and Allen Iverson.
- 12:07It's Converse, it's Adidas. It's all these basketball
- 12:12sneakers that are coming out and they're they're buying these
- 12:15players in and asking, hey, you know, we're going to pay you
- 12:17$170 million to wear our shoe and we're going to make a shoe
- 12:22just for you. These players are now going out
- 12:26there and wearing their own shoe.
- 12:28Yes, they're made for them. Yes, they're made for them to
- 12:31show off and and obviously bring to the forefront so they can
- 12:35sell a million of them. They're wearing a shoe that was
- 12:38defined to fit them and lighter because they were wearing those
- 12:42sneakers when they were younger. The sneakers were heavier built
- 12:46better look. Hey, I got one for for you guys
- 12:48to remember. Remember Williamson?
- 12:51Oh yeah. Remember that.
- 12:52Remember him when he played this?
- 12:53Scandal. Yeah.
- 12:54Like he tried to stop and his whole soul.
- 12:56Fell. The whole soul fell off.
- 12:57Why do you think the soul fell off guys?
- 12:59Because when? Because he's not a normal sized
- 13:03human being. The sneakers, the.
- 13:04Sneakers. Sneakers were defective.
- 13:06This. No, no, that's not.
- 13:07What? Oh yeah.
- 13:07The sneakers were the sneakers are lighter now, and now these
- 13:12guys are much bigger, much faster, much more athletic.
- 13:15So when they're like stopping on a dime, you're stopping on a
- 13:19dime. You're, you have like a A270260
- 13:22pound man, athletically gifted stopping.
- 13:25What do you think is going to happen to a light shoe that
- 13:28doesn't have the right seam or it's not as tight as of a seam
- 13:32as they've made in the 90s and very well built?
- 13:35The sneakers in the 90s and the 80s are so much better than the
- 13:38sneaker now, much better. You could see the difference.
- 13:42It's because of the sneakers. I believe the NBA has a problem.
- 13:46The NBA needs to look into how Nike is building these sneakers.
- 13:52They're using these science, this science stuff that they're
- 13:56calculating with and they have these computers and the
- 13:59computers are telling. Computers can't tell you
- 14:01everything. You got to go out there and you
- 14:03got to wear the sneaker and you got to practice and, and, and
- 14:06use it numerous amount of times. How many players wear the same
- 14:10sneaker the next game? Honestly, not many.
- 14:13They give away half the time. Kobe Bryant actually, and this
- 14:17is the truth. Kobe Bryant came out and said
- 14:20that every single game, actually every single every first and
- 14:25fourth quarter. He changed his sneakers in every
- 14:28single game of his career. Think about that.
- 14:31Think about how many sneakers Kobe Bryant went through in his
- 14:35how many years of playing NBA basketball?
- 14:38Almost 20. 20 years. I bet he didn't do that his
- 14:41whole career. I bet he figured it out after
- 14:43he's. No.
- 14:44Popular enough where he could have.
- 14:45Done it he said that he wore a different sneaker in the 1st and
- 14:484th I've seen I've seen an interview that he had and the
- 14:52guy asked him he said how many sneakers do you go by and go
- 14:55through every single year in an NBA season?
- 14:57He says, I don't know, I, I use two different sneakers in every
- 15:00single game. And he says in the first and
- 15:02fourth quarter. And he, he explained why there
- 15:05was a story on why Kobe Bryant, I don't know if it was high
- 15:08school or middle school when he was playing basketball, but he
- 15:12wears different sneakers in the first in, in, in every single
- 15:17game. So my point here is there is, I
- 15:21think there's an interesting argument and and really an
- 15:25interesting debate where the NBA has got to stop making excuses
- 15:29because of the minutes and all that other stuff.
- 15:30It's just like baseball with the UCL.
- 15:32Well, all these different scouts and all these different
- 15:36executives are trying to figure out why the UCL is tearing as
- 15:40much as it has over the years when you're not going to get a
- 15:42definite answer. Because guys like Max Scherzer
- 15:46came out and explained the scientific understanding on what
- 15:49you shouldn't be doing as a youth, as a pitcher.
- 15:53I'm just speaking the truth here.
- 15:54There's a reason there's a mathematical equation here.
- 15:58And the math here only spells one thing to me.
- 16:02It's the sneaker. It is the sneaker on the reason
- 16:06why. Let's go look at the the
- 16:07Achilles tears. What?
- 16:09What does Durant wear? What kind of sneakers does
- 16:11Durant wear? I thought he was a Nike guy.
- 16:13OK, All right. Klay Thompson, What sneaker does
- 16:15he wear? I'm pretty sure it's a Nike.
- 16:18I I'm just, I'm pretty sure. I just don't quote me on this,
- 16:21but I'm pretty sure Hal Burton, what kind of sneaker does he
- 16:24wear? He was a Nike.
- 16:25He's a Nike. OK, here comes the math here.
- 16:30If you look at the the calculations now, Kobe Bryant
- 16:34was not Nike. Adidas to *.
- 16:37He was Adidas and then he moved to Nike and where did where did
- 16:41when he tore his Achilles? What was he wearing?
- 16:44A Nike sneaker? So think about this now, I'm not
- 16:47blaming Nike and Nike. Don't kill me on this.
- 16:50I'm not trying to get sued here. I think that the NBA needs to
- 16:55start to investigate what and how they're building these
- 17:00sneakers for these players. If they expect these players to
- 17:03not miss as much time as they're going to and maybe not even be
- 17:06the same player. You're talking about two of the
- 17:08biggest stars, 3 of the biggest stars in the NBA.
- 17:11Damian Lillard, who's been a big, huge superstar player for
- 17:15forever. Jayson Tatum's one of the best
- 17:18power forwards in the NBA. He was wearing Jordans.
- 17:21I just look up the image. OK, he went down.
- 17:23And then who's the other one that that went down?
- 17:26Tyrese Halpern. You can argue he's the most
- 17:28athletically gifted point guard in the NBA.
- 17:32So think about that. And they're all with her Nike
- 17:35sneakers practically. That's scary.
- 17:38And now again, I'm not saying this is just Nike and I'm fans.
- 17:42I'm not blaming Nike and throwing Nike under the bus.
- 17:45I'm not doing that. I just think that it's the
- 17:49sneaker. It's not the court.
- 17:51The courts the same. It always is.
- 17:53What, are they putting new wax on it?
- 17:55Are you kidding me? It's not the court.
- 17:57It's not the practices. They're actually, to me, they're
- 18:01babied more than they ever have been.
- 18:03So don't blame the practices. Michael Jordan used to practice
- 18:06all day long and they're playing an NBA game, and he played a
- 18:10practice like an NBA game. Magic.
- 18:12Dealing with somebody like that, ruthless and crazy like Michael
- 18:15Jordan. Yeah, I'm just speaking the
- 18:18truth here. He'd also go play 36 holes and
- 18:21then drop 50 on. You well, that's true too.
- 18:24That's true too. And also how about this doing an
- 18:26all nighter and going gambling and winning a couple of hands
- 18:29and then going and playing in a playoff NBA game and scoring 50.
- 18:33So I I've heard stories like that with my 50.
- 18:36Five and telling everyone he had the flu?
- 18:38Yes, that's another one. Gambling in Atlantic City till
- 18:403:00 in the morning, That was another.
- 18:42I've heard that story too. So my my facts.
- 18:45Damian Lillard was wearing Adidas.
- 18:47Yes, yeah. But I'm just saying if you look
- 18:49at the numbers, the numbers we tell you over the years, they
- 18:52have been Nike shoes more than any other shoe.
- 18:56Now again, Nike is the most popular brand.
- 18:58I know everybody's going to say, well, Nike is a popular brand.
- 19:00So the fact here is I I'm just speaking the truth here.
- 19:06How many how many college players have torn their Achilles
- 19:09in the NCAA? It's not really a young guy
- 19:12injuries. Exactly, you just gave the
- 19:16answer to my equation here. It's.
- 19:18Not, but also young college. Now they're making it for your
- 19:22foot. Yes, but you know, I mentioned
- 19:25that to. You it's like insoles, but not
- 19:26not the shoe per SE I guess. You know what the thing that I
- 19:30was saying is like for like football and at least Division
- 19:32One football, all the offensive lineman have those double leg
- 19:35braces on to prevent some kind of knee injury because they get
- 19:39rolled up on all the time. Why NBA players or college
- 19:43players even don't have custom orthotics in every single
- 19:48sneaker that they wear when they're going on to a court is
- 19:51beyond me. Why?
- 19:52The team or maybe the league is or however they should do it.
- 19:56I don't know why you wouldn't do that to protect your investment.
- 19:58It makes no sense to me. That's why that's why I think
- 20:01the LJA should be looking and investigating in these sneaker
- 20:04situations. I, I'm not saying that these
- 20:06sneakers are made to hurt these guys.
- 20:09I don't think they're purposely doing it, but the way they're
- 20:12designing these sneakers because they wanted to sell in stores
- 20:15and how and remember, they're not going to make, they want to
- 20:18make it as cheap as possible and sell it for most so they can
- 20:21make the most profits. It wasn't like that.
- 20:24In the 90s, if you look at the Air Ones and you look at the Air
- 20:27Ones that they remade in different colors, they're
- 20:29completely different sneakers. That's why the first Air Ones,
- 20:33if you have a good pair of them, they're worth like 15 grand.
- 20:36If they're in good shape, If you're born an Air One, right
- 20:39now they're not even worth 100. OK.
- 20:41And I probably would imagine there like at least like five
- 20:44times the amount of players that have their own sneakers now
- 20:46compared to the back. Then and everybody shows, well,
- 20:48it's because of the age. This is not wine, ladies and
- 20:50gentlemen, OK? It's not about fine wine.
- 20:53I'm telling you guys factual information for a guy that's a
- 20:57sneaker head and no sneakers. I know sneakers.
- 21:00I know sneakers better than anybody.
- 21:02Definitely in this in the studio with Speedy and everybody on
- 21:05here. I know Jabba probably has a lot
- 21:07of sneakers. Probably more than all our
- 21:08guests. I've been a sneaker collector
- 21:10since I was 14, 15 years old. I I know Jabba's a hat
- 21:14collector. I know he's collecting hats
- 21:16forever. I remember.
- 21:16You see, Jabba, I listen. You think I don't listen to you?
- 21:19I remember what you said about your hat collection.
- 21:21And I'm a hat. Collector I don't think I have
- 21:23one pair of Nikes though. OK, I can.
- 21:27I'm an Adidas. Maybe.
- 21:28Maybe that's why you didn't tear your Achilles.
- 21:31I do have a different theory on what what could be the Achilles
- 21:35issue and I talked to you about it earlier also, Errol, that one
- 21:38of the biggest moves that's come into the game in the past
- 21:40decade, really kind of starting with James Harden is the step
- 21:43back, right? And when you do the step back,
- 21:46you're end up putting your bot, your one of your legs out of the
- 21:50frame of your body. Now, when I coach football, if a
- 21:52lineman does that, I tell him he's false stepping and he's
- 21:55stepping backwards to go forward.
- 21:56So you push off by really just extending your your calf at
- 22:01maximum effort and that's how you go forward.
- 22:04So when you step back to do that, you're doing that in a
- 22:06reverse action in basketball, every single one of these
- 22:10Achille injuries, the that you see, it's from that foot being
- 22:13outside of the frame of the body.
- 22:14Whether we're talking about Jason Tatum diving for that ball
- 22:18and pushing off the ground or we're talking about Halliburton
- 22:21trying to do kind of like, you know, stepping around, doing a
- 22:24fancy move with the ball, kind of doing a step back or at least
- 22:27part of a step back in that process.
- 22:29I even talk about Dre Greenlaw hopping up and doing that exact
- 22:33same motion trying to run onto the field in the second-half,
- 22:36extending the calf away from. That has something to do with
- 22:39Turf I I do believe. Really bad.
- 22:41The turf. It's just like the way the body
- 22:42mechanics. They they said the Raiders, that
- 22:45the turf over there is one of the worst when it comes to new
- 22:48stadiums in all of the NFL. Yeah.
- 22:51And I, I listen, I, I know everybody's going to go and
- 22:53they're going to say, what do you know about this?
- 22:55You don't know anything. You're talking.
- 22:57You shouldn't be on radio and kiss my ass.
- 23:00Ladies and gentlemen, I'll give you what I have to say.
- 23:02And you can eat it, suck it and dish it out.
- 23:04The speedies dog Jack, right? Is his name Jack Jake?
- 23:08Jake. There it is.
- 23:09I'm trying to help here, but here's the facts.
- 23:12You have to look at the situation for what it is Now,
- 23:15NBA players aren't wearing cleats, are they?
- 23:17But guess what? There are Nike cleats out there,
- 23:20are they not? They're making cleats.
- 23:22They're and again, a lot of these players like Patrick
- 23:25Mahomes. Patrick Mahomes has his own
- 23:27custom made cleat. By who?
- 23:30Psyche. So what I'm trying to say here
- 23:33is it's not Nike's fault. I'm not blaming Nike.
- 23:36I'm not. I'm not going to get myself into
- 23:38trouble. I think Nike is the best when it
- 23:40comes to sneakers in all of sneaker collections.
- 23:44I'm going to tell you this right now.
- 23:45They're my favorite. From top to bottom, Nike's my
- 23:48favorite. The fact is because Nike is a
- 23:52multibillion dollar, trillion dollar organization, I do
- 23:56believe that they're just trying to scout up and and grab all the
- 24:01top players in professional sports, including basketball and
- 24:04give them what they want, their own designer shoe, their own
- 24:07colors that they want so they can sell as many as they
- 24:10possibly can and not care about the making of the shoe and the
- 24:14player that's playing in them. I have, I've said this and it's
- 24:18a big problem and and the LJ as an organization needs to get
- 24:22LeBron James in on it. He needs to use his security and
- 24:27everything that he does with Rich Paul to to sneak away and
- 24:31figure out what Nike, Adidas, Converse and all these companies
- 24:35are doing when they're making these sneakers.
- 24:37That's all I'm saying. Yeah, it's interesting because I
- 24:39think for the sake of Achilles injuries in general, like
- 24:42there's not really other factors you can blame the same way like
- 24:45you can with football with the turf.
- 24:46Like what is it? I mean, seriously, if it's
- 24:48different, if it's not the sneakers, what is it?
- 24:51Yeah, because there's nothing on the court that's distinctly
- 24:52different in any way. It's not like even a baseball
- 24:54tour. You have different ballparks,
- 24:56different hybrid turf surfaces as well, and different types of
- 24:59dirt as well. And I think football, college
- 25:02football too, is the same problem when they're switching
- 25:04to playing in NFL stadiums a lot of the time.
- 25:06But basketball, you not like the painter.
- 25:08The world is any different. That's what you're saying.
- 25:11You know, You know what the common refrain is, of course.
- 25:15It's too many games. I don't play too many games.
- 25:18Playing too close, but here's the thing, the.
- 25:19Celtics this do very good at load managing their stars and
- 25:22it's helped them in years past stay healthy.
- 25:24So you can't really blame that one thing for Tatum's injury.
- 25:27The same way you would say if one of the Knicks players had it
- 25:30with what bad injury like that because Tom Thibodeau wore out
- 25:32the players or one of those types of teams like the Celtics
- 25:35actually did a really good job at for the last few years load
- 25:38managing. That's why, besides I think one
- 25:40year their regular season, like it went total wasn't like
- 25:43insane, but because the Jalen Brown and Jason Tatum were low
- 25:46managing and I don't think the Pacers really worth doing that
- 25:49kind of thing with Halliburton either where he was either
- 25:51trying to work him too much. It was just more of like, all
- 25:54right, it took a while for the season to get going.
- 25:56The Pacers are the seven C at the All Star break type thing.
- 25:59Well, it's the calf injury, right?
- 26:00Like we should talk about that before we finish.
- 26:02This is these calf injuries. They're not minor.
- 26:06Even if you feel good enough to play on, if they shoot you up
- 26:09with enough that you feel fine, Let's face it, Halliburton was
- 26:12playing great after until he had that injury in that game, he
- 26:17probably felt like 1,000,000 bucks.
- 26:18He said he felt like 1,000,000 bucks and then it was gone.
- 26:21If you remember the game before, he wasn't a primary ball handler
- 26:24in that game. He facilitated in Game 6 after
- 26:27he tweaked it the first time, right?
- 26:29So they really should have played him the exact same way in
- 26:32Game 7. But really he was doing all
- 26:35these fancy footwork things. And if you do too much on that
- 26:39calf, if you make the calf the primary muscle you're pushing
- 26:42off of, I mean, job, you know, this is a picture, You've got to
- 26:44engage your glutes. You got to engage all four
- 26:46muscles of your quad. The calf shouldn't be the
- 26:49primary muscle you're pushing off on.
- 26:51You're going to hurt yourself if you're doing that right.
- 26:54It's we like all the way we, yeah, if we do it in a weird way
- 26:58that that usually not as our main one.
- 27:00Yeah, that's that's kind of when you get hurt.
- 27:01And it's always like when you and it's kind of cliche, but as
- 27:06as athletes and as coaches, it's like, yeah, you're trying to
- 27:10push you something, but something has to give because
- 27:12you're compensating because you already know it sucks.
- 27:15So you're trying to like not make it hurt.
- 27:18And then you end up hurting something else that's not even
- 27:21hurt, because you're compensating and doing things
- 27:24the way your body's not normally used to doing it.
- 27:27I also don't think it's the step back thing theory that you have.
- 27:31I'm not saying I'm not to attacking what you believe and
- 27:33maybe you have some kind of argument to it.
- 27:37Again, Michael Jordan was the king of doing that.
- 27:39Keema Lajawan was the king of doing that.
- 27:42Did they ever tear their Achilles?
- 27:43No. Well, I mean, Jordan was doing a
- 27:45fade away. It's a little different than
- 27:47this. I mean, I'm thinking about the
- 27:48James Harden step back, you know, calm.
- 27:50Alone, calm alone. I mean, he did a lot of step
- 27:52back jump shots. They're they're.
- 27:54Look, Larry Bird did did it the most I would say before this
- 27:58common error. Larry Bird constantly would just
- 28:00do a jab at a guy, step back and just talk shit and drain it in
- 28:04the guy's face. But none of that looked as
- 28:07dynamic as some of what these Dirk Nowinski is doing right
- 28:10now. Who did that?
- 28:11You know what's that? I'm sorry, Dirk Nowinski.
- 28:14Was another one that did that Step back, jump jump Dirk did.
- 28:16Did a like a version of it where he was just so tall and he kind
- 28:20of like used his other leg to shield his body so never.
- 28:22Tore his Achilles. He never did and it's really
- 28:25interesting, like the young guys tearing it, they got to do
- 28:29something. I think there's a combination of
- 28:31factors. I don't know if it's the games.
- 28:33I would be willing to bet what you're saying with the sneakers
- 28:35has a ton of validity because you know that companies are
- 28:38selling sneakers to make money, not for safety reasons.
- 28:41And remember how long. Remember how long it took them
- 28:44to make a prototype in those days?
- 28:47I'm not talking about the Jordan ones, which they made a
- 28:50prototype right away because they knew they had to draw
- 28:52Michael Jordan to come in and he didn't want to play.
- 28:54He didn't want anything to do with Nike.
- 28:57He wanted to go to Converse or Adidas.
- 29:00That's where. But if you know.
- 29:01You watch that movie, the Matt Damon, Ben Affleck movie.
- 29:03Fantastic. Movie and a lot of the story
- 29:05isn't true, by the way, but some of it is and it's a great story
- 29:09because the guy that really discovered Michael Jordan is the
- 29:12same guy that argued he was the front runner for the NIL deals,
- 29:15believe it or not, if you guys don't know that.
- 29:17So I'm just saying when I'm looking at sneakers and I look
- 29:22at the the defining building block that they're trying to
- 29:26sell out there to the fan, they're only selling the look.
- 29:31They're not selling the comfortability.
- 29:32They're not selling. That's why if you notice, why
- 29:35did Yeezys, the Yeezys when they came out, remember the Kanye
- 29:39West they were selling for like 5-6, seven, $100.
- 29:42People were spending that kind of money for Yeezys and now
- 29:46you're obviously his problem with over the years with Adidas,
- 29:49he's there's no more Yeezys or you can you can only get fake
- 29:52ones, replicated ones. But what I'm trying to say is
- 29:55they were made very, very well. If you put a Yeezy on and you
- 29:58put a regular sneak on, you could see the difference on the
- 30:01the protection of your feet and the pad and and the way you know
- 30:05how they define the product. So people would want to buy them
- 30:09when you look at. This they were.
- 30:10They were comfortable. Yes, they're looking at these
- 30:12sneakers, the Nike sneakers they're they're sensational to
- 30:16look at not very comfortable to wear when you're walking Michael
- 30:19Jordan's they're not comfortable until you build them in and it
- 30:22takes a while to build in. They hurt the hell out of your
- 30:25feet and you always got to get it one bigger size.
- 30:28And this is a tip for all you fans out there, if you like
- 30:31Jordan ones and they're the, to me, the most popular and the
- 30:34ones that I would tell you to get, if you're going to get
- 30:35Jordan's with the colors, you have to get a size or half a
- 30:40size bigger, depending on the sneaker.
- 30:43If they're obviously the Jordan, you know, high tops, I would get
- 30:47a size bigger. If they're low tops, I would get
- 30:50a half a size bigger. I'm telling you guys, I've been
- 30:53wearing sneakers my whole life. I'm like the king of
- 30:55understanding what hurts and what doesn't.
- 30:58I'm just telling you, I believe the factual thought of what the
- 31:02NBA needs to look into is the sneaker and the way it is, is
- 31:06built and as fast as it it's built by just looking at science
- 31:12and trying to define on how and why it would be a good product
- 31:16to sell. When it comes to the player, I I
- 31:19don't like it and I I think the NBA just needs to figure that
- 31:23out. That's just my opinion.
- 31:25That's it. I I It's sad.
- 31:26I want to mention the difference as well.
- 31:28We've seen a lot of, like you saying, exposed.
- 31:29And I say I'm sorry to cut you off.
- 31:31It's, I say it's sad because everybody's going to say, what
- 31:33the hell are you talking about? You don't know what you're
- 31:36talking about. It's sad because that is the
- 31:38only reason why the I believe that these Achilles problems are
- 31:43still more defined or still trying.
- 31:45We're trying to find answers behind it.
- 31:47That's all I'm saying. That's why I said.
- 31:48But guys, yeah, I was. Going to say, there's not really
- 31:50also a positional split in terms of what we've seen because a lot
- 31:52of the big men, a lot of the big men we've seen in recent years
- 31:56have had Achilles injuries too. DeMarcus Cousin was a big one.
- 31:58I think Andre Drummond as well, another big one that had that.
- 32:00Now you're seeing it recently. Like both of them wearing.
- 32:03Nike Yeah. And now you're seeing it with
- 32:05these with these guards to Tatum's a bigger wing that's
- 32:07dribbled the ball all up a lot now too.
- 32:09So again, there's no distinct theory on if it's ball handling,
- 32:11it's even intensity like Fish. You were saying like Halliburton
- 32:15made a move, try to try to stretch it on a dribble too.
- 32:18Like again, we've also seen these power players tear their
- 32:20Achilles the same way too. And maybe the big men is
- 32:23probably what you were saying is the analogy with the offensive
- 32:25line of football. And maybe it's the same kind of
- 32:27motion. And and, and I attacked Nike
- 32:29again on this segment, not for them to hate me because my
- 32:33favorite sneaker is Nike and I would not pick any sneaker over
- 32:36Nike out of all the sneakers that I buy.
- 32:39I've I have Yeezys, I have every single sneaker you can name
- 32:42Adidas Converse. I wouldn't buy any sneaker over
- 32:47Nike, but there's just something behind this that maybe the LJA
- 32:52needs to investigate. Hey, why don't they send Carmelo
- 32:55Anthony and Chris Paul? I think they'd be good
- 32:57investigators. Could you imagine those two guys
- 32:59as a comedy? That would be a comedy watching.
- 33:02Carmelo Anthony is 6 foot 8 and Chris Paul, who's like 6 to come
- 33:06into your building and say I'd like to see all the paperwork on
- 33:09that sneaker. Carmelo Anthony, Shoe detective
- 33:12Is that what you're getting out? Let.
- 33:13Me try. We're going to just walk around
- 33:15with like glasses of wine the whole time and I'm just like
- 33:18sipping on it, smoking cigars. Melo was a Jordan guy.
- 33:22What was CP3? He wasn't a Jordan guy.
- 33:25Hold on, hold on, I think. He got he just signed for his
- 33:2821st year. Chris Paul, I think he's.
- 33:30Was he Nike? I think Chris Paul was Nike too.
- 33:33I thought he had his own shoe. Yeah, he's.
- 33:35Jordan. He's Jordan.
- 33:36He has Nike too. He's Jordan too, yeah.
- 33:39Dwyane Wade I think was Jordan too if I'm not mistaken.
- 33:42No Dwyane Wade was he actually I I mentioned this in the chat
- 33:46Carter his senior year he started making his own shoe way
- 33:49of wades out of. China.
- 33:50Oh, OK, wow, OK oh, that goes oh, and that was something else
- 33:53I wanted to say before we get on too, because we're still waiting
- 33:56for our guest. I I wanted to say one more
- 33:58thing. Star berries.
- 33:59Remember when those things came out?
- 34:01The dollar sneakers. Like he's a legend over there,
- 34:04man. Listen to this and I, I told
- 34:06this to fish too, for all you guys to understand why everybody
- 34:10made fun of strawberries. That was like crappy sneakers.
- 34:12They were so very well built that I bought a ton of, if I was
- 34:17a basketball player when I played basketball when I was a
- 34:19kid, I would go out and buy a bunch of pairs of strawberries
- 34:23because one, they're made for basketball, They're good on your
- 34:26ankles, lot of padding and I played very well with them.
- 34:29Yes, they broke. Yes, they ripped.
- 34:31Yes, they tear very fast. They were a buck.
- 34:34I would rather spend a buck on a good pair and not an ugly pair
- 34:38of sneakers that I could play some ball with than going out
- 34:41and spending $200 on a sneaker that honestly is hurting my foot
- 34:47even though it looks good and bothering certain you know
- 34:51aspects of my future when it comes to walking, working, or
- 34:54even getting a chance to run with my kid in the future.
- 34:58I, I Nikes, Nikes have been a big problem and, and, and
- 35:02beating them in or wearing them in is so very hard to to do
- 35:05because you have to wear them consistently and it hurts your
- 35:07feet so. Did you?
- 35:08Is is those and one joints in your collection.
- 35:11Yes, I have. I have a pair of N ones.
- 35:13Yes, first pair. First pair.
- 35:15I don't, I don't collect. Anyway, now they're selling
- 35:17Walmarts and I'll tell you this, women can find some nice stuff
- 35:22in Walmart. Guys, if you shop at Walmart,
- 35:25shame on you shame on. You they've got some good themed
- 35:29shirts like someones you can just wear once for like an
- 35:32outing. Yeah, because if you try to
- 35:34wash. Oh yeah, they become like a crop
- 35:35top. Yeah, they.
- 35:36Have like N1 had the best shorts back in the day.
- 35:40They don't make them anymore the way they used to.
- 35:42They were like the first ones with pockets.
- 35:44They had pockets. They were.
- 35:46They were absolutely the best basketball shirts.
- 35:47I don't know why they changed up there the way they make them,
- 35:50but it's a lot cheaper and kind of ratty now.
- 35:52I don't think N1's the same quality they used to be, if
- 35:54they're even still owned by the same people.
- 35:56It's pretty cool when you're trying to figure out or argue a
- 36:01point that everybody's going to have their own opinion by and
- 36:04probably nobody's ever used that opinion like I, I've and that's
- 36:09what makes it unique. And Fish came to me and he asked
- 36:12me, well, how would you attack this?
- 36:13I think it's a sneaker. And he says why?
- 36:16And then I, I gave him my take to it and he says that I've
- 36:20never heard anything like that before.
- 36:21This would be a great topic to argue.
- 36:24And I just, I feel like the NBALJ, whatever you want to call
- 36:29it, they, they're not, they're, they're looking at the, the big
- 36:33picture. Yes, it's bringing in money.
- 36:35It's in they're endorsing so many great players and future
- 36:38Hall of farmers. What they're not doing is
- 36:40protecting those assets as they move forward in their careers.
- 36:45And you expect them to be the face of your product?
- 36:48Because think about it, how many guys could you tell me right now
- 36:52in the NBA in five years is going to be better than Tyrese
- 36:55Halliburton? How many?
- 36:58This guy's 2223 years old. He's not.
- 37:01He's 25. Still young.
- 37:03He's not even in prime 25. You said the face the face of
- 37:07basketball. No, I didn't.
- 37:08Halbert. Cooper Flag.
- 37:10Yeah, Cooper Flag is going to be the face of the NBA in USA
- 37:14Basketball. I do.
- 37:15We think he's going to be one of them.
- 37:16I think Cal Burton, he's such a young guy right now and he
- 37:19hasn't even fully developed. Just think about it.
- 37:22There's not many guys in the NBA like him, a stretch, 6 foot 6
- 37:28point guard. They can take the ball up, shoot
- 37:30the ball and do so many things, rebound, pass.
- 37:34I mean, this guy, he's just a a way better version.
- 37:38And I know people might think of crazy of Russell Westbrook.
- 37:42That's what he is. He's a he's a better version of
- 37:45Russell Westbrook. Why?
- 37:46Because he plays defense. Russell Westbrook don't.
- 37:49That's the difference. But I, I think that this kid has
- 37:52the ability, the athletic ability to go up and down the
- 37:54court. He's so very good his and by the
- 37:57way, Russell Westbrook couldn't shoot like this guy.
- 37:59He didn't hit big shots like this guy.
- 38:01This guy last year's playoffs in every single series daggered
- 38:06every one of those teams that he beat.
- 38:09Just think about it. He daggered every one of those
- 38:12teams in Indiana. They had the hardest path to the
- 38:17NBA Finals. If you think about it too.
- 38:19Just think about it. So I, I just think when you're
- 38:23hearing it from Halpern Alpertons not going to throw the
- 38:25NBA or sneaker contract under the bus.
- 38:28Why would he ever do that when he's making millions and
- 38:30millions of dollars and he, he could get sued or he could get
- 38:33dropped by that organization? No, he's going to sit there and
- 38:37he's not going to give you an answer when everybody, if you're
- 38:40sitting here listening to us right now, any kind of answer to
- 38:44this, you would understand that the only way this could be
- 38:48happening is because of the sneaker.
- 38:50That's the only reason. The way you land.
- 38:54How many times have you heard, Jabba, when somebody says they,
- 38:57they tear their Achilles, they can't put their, they can't put
- 39:00their heel on the ground. Every time they try to put the
- 39:03hair on the ground, they have shooting pains up their leg.
- 39:06How many times have you heard when you try to grab your What
- 39:10do they call this over here? Speedy?
- 39:11What do they call this? I don't even know I'm.
- 39:14Not the back of the the back of the the ankle right over there
- 39:17where you know, the bone sticking out.
- 39:20Why do they say that when doctors grab that they can tell
- 39:23you automatically if you tore your Achilles because they
- 39:27noticed that the muscle just tear right off of that.
- 39:29So because that's where it's connected to.
- 39:32It's just to me, I, I just think that the NBA just for the, for
- 39:36the amount of money that they're making and they're bringing in,
- 39:39they should absolutely take care of the players that are bringing
- 39:42in that kind of money and making it an asset of a sport as we all
- 39:46know internationally. Just my thought.
- 39:47Our next step? Do you want to do?
- 39:48Let's parlay. 1st All right, so W sent a couple of CFL picks as
- 39:52he usually does. Yeah, I said he has to go 3 and
- 39:541 this week to stay. 40. Percent after he was two and two
- 39:57last week. He's got Calgary this week -5
- 40:001/2 He's got Toronto plus 2 1/2 BC.
- 40:04BC of the BC lions -3. Is that your cucumber or are you
- 40:07happy to see me? And the Edmonton Elks the.
- 40:10Fish wears panties. Lapping stock of the CFL, he
- 40:13actually has them covering plus 9 and a.
- 40:14Half I need a magnifying glass. You're going to need that one
- 40:20after those picks, but they're winners.
- 40:24CFL, if you're a W fan, they're winners.
- 40:27I, I can't lie to you guys, He knows his stuff.
- 40:30All right, ladies and gentlemen, we call this next segment Tick
- 40:34Tack no. Morris.
- 40:38Right in the butt we get the prizes cheat because they're
- 40:43stolen. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 40:52Doo Doo athletes. And they're Speedy.
- 40:58You know what? I will say this, Speedy, And if
- 41:01you really watch the footage here and if he really gets
- 41:03closer, you can see the back of my head as I watched Speedy
- 41:07doing his little tantrum. I call this like a tantrum
- 41:11dance. Like it looks like he's like
- 41:13yelling at his mom and doing a tantrum.
- 41:15Like like he has ants in his pants, you know?
- 41:17Fish, I have to ask, do you remember exactly which song that
- 41:20was from? What I think it was like that
- 41:25Journey song. Oh.
- 41:26Separate ways. I think they played separate.
- 41:27Ways I think it might have been like, yeah, one of those I love
- 41:30Lisa Ann songs. Yeah, I know they played
- 41:33separate ways is the first one they played Don't stop believing
- 41:35a little later, but I think. Yeah, I need Brittany also that.
- 41:37Probably fits for that. Well, I will say that that was
- 41:40the best part of the night was when we were dancing with to the
- 41:43band, and the band was absolutely sensational.
- 41:46And they came over here to our side.
- 41:48And, you know, I, I'll say this, my friend Ray, who haven't
- 41:51spoken to in a couple of weeks because he's been depressed.
- 41:54If you listen, Ray, you know I love you.
- 41:56Yeah, he's been a little depressed.
- 41:58And unfortunately, you know, he's gone through so much over
- 42:02the last couple of months and, and really last past year.
- 42:05I, I give him a lot of credit, but hopefully he's OK, gets out
- 42:08of that cocoon, that little turtle shell, as I call him
- 42:10ninja, a ninja turtle, a little ninja turtle.
- 42:13I would say he's more Raphael because he's in one of his bad
- 42:15moods. But nevertheless, I, I, I will
- 42:19say that when we were, we were at the events for, you know,
- 42:23for, for the birthday bash while we were there.
- 42:25Anyway, it was your birthday. It was my birthday.
- 42:27It was your birthday. That's right.
- 42:29We, we the, the band when we were dancing to the band was the
- 42:33best part. So just just say it was fun.
- 42:36And fish had to go home early. And I, I got to give you a
- 42:38credit for a guy, you know, his wife was supposed to come and
- 42:42hang out with us. If anybody doesn't know, but
- 42:44they didn't have a dog sitter. So she had to stay home and
- 42:47watch the dog. She wanted it.
- 42:48She never met me and she wanted to come out and hang out with me
- 42:51and Brittany. She never got a chance to.
- 42:54And he came four hours practically by himself and to
- 42:58hang out for a couple hours, 2-3 hours to go back home, 4 hours
- 43:01and drive home. So I got to give him a Golf Club
- 43:04golf clap for the old fisherman over here.
- 43:06The old fish. Exaggerate.
- 43:08It wasn't that far, but I do appreciate it.
- 43:10Let's get the music on Speedy. You got some questions to beat
- 43:13us this time. We killed you last time all.
- 43:15Right, we'll start this week with a David Wright theme again.
- 43:17I had it in my 6 pack. They acquired the rights to
- 43:20David Wright as a compensation player in 2001 because the Mets
- 43:24lost what starting pitcher to free agency.
- 43:28In 2001, Yep. So that means he played.
- 43:32I'm going to Rain Man this Mike Hampton.
- 43:35You got it. You all right?
- 43:37Wow. All right.
- 43:39I. Tried getting him on the shelf,
- 43:40where do you go? To because the schools were so
- 43:42good in Colorado. I'll never forget that.
- 43:44That's why he had to leave bad schools in New York, you know,
- 43:47clearly schools. He wasn't a good man anyways.
- 43:51He really wasn't. They overpaid him.
- 43:54Mike Hampton. Well, they overpaid him in
- 43:56freaking Colorado too. He was trapped.
- 43:58Yeah, he was not good in course field.
- 44:00He was a better hitter than I think he was pitcher.
- 44:03That's true. He did hit a lot of homers.
- 44:05Yeah, I. Did.
- 44:06All right. I'm taking the middle Speedy.
- 44:08You're going to have to do better than that.
- 44:09All right, so Philip Rivers announced his official
- 44:13retirement as a Charger just recently.
- 44:15A lot of people making jokes about that.
- 44:17So the year that he led the NFL in passing yards was 2010.
- 44:20So the other five quarterbacks who are top five were for Drew
- 44:24Brees and the 2 Manning brothers.
- 44:26What quarterback was the other one?
- 44:29So top five in passing 2010. In 2010. 20. 10 Hayden, Eli.
- 44:45You're muted Java. It has to be somebody off the
- 44:49wall 2010. I mean, I don't even want to say
- 44:58it because it's it feels too obvious.
- 45:00Who is it? I mean Brady.
- 45:07You know the two obvious angle was correct there.
- 45:09It's not Brady. Someone had to say it though.
- 45:13Who do you have? Brady was out to that the year
- 45:18before with the injury, right? That was O 8.
- 45:20He was out. With the injury.
- 45:22I'm remembering 2010. I'm looking at, I'm listening.
- 45:25I'm thinking about the quarterbacks at that time.
- 45:31I know it wasn't Ben. I wasn't.
- 45:33It wasn't Ben, it wasn't him. Was it Matt Ryan?
- 45:39I don't know if I should go a little bit more obscure, but
- 45:41she's so obvious but like. Oh my God, I wonder.
- 45:49Was it? I know who it is.
- 45:50Was it Aaron Rodgers it? Was not.
- 45:52That's what I was going to guess.
- 45:54I'm going to go another not super up Carson Palmer.
- 45:58Nope. Is it 2010 when the.
- 46:00Green Bay Packers was both of my guess That's a.
- 46:02Good guess that cost your problem was a good guess.
- 46:05He. Was not top five.
- 46:06Was that Zach? Was that your other one?
- 46:08No, no, but that's just a good guess.
- 46:10I forgot. Most of both of my guests, Josh,
- 46:12was your Carson Palmer. But like, yeah, I don't know.
- 46:17It's got to be. It's got to be what?
- 46:18About what about the guy that's playing for the Giants this
- 46:20year? No.
- 46:22Oh, yeah, Russell Wilson. He.
- 46:24Wasn't in. The league.
- 46:26Oh no, you're right. No, you're you're 2010.
- 46:29Yes. He wasn't even drafted yet.
- 46:30Never mind. The next year.
- 46:32Yeah, never mind who else in 2010?
- 46:37I think Zach, you're our only savior, right?
- 46:38Now no I. Guess who's got a guess left?
- 46:42It's just me. I'm trying to think 20 tens, you
- 46:47said. You said Drew Brees is number
- 46:48one, right? Drew Brees.
- 46:50So Brees, Eli Payton. Eli Payton and Man It there are
- 46:55Rivers. Yeah.
- 46:56It's not Brady, it's not Big Ben.
- 46:58It's not Rogers, not Carson Palmer.
- 47:01I looked it up, I don't think you're going to get it.
- 47:03Yeah, I'm just. All right, you got to give an
- 47:05answer, Jake. All right, that's Speedy.
- 47:08Go ahead. So, Zach, you were actually the
- 47:10closest because it was a guy that backed up Matt Ryan
- 47:12previously. Matt Schaub is the answer.
- 47:15Matt Schaub with Andre John. Not about that we.
- 47:18Did have that little run there in the 2010 Matt Schaub, yeah.
- 47:22Yeah, Jake and Zach, you were right about the obscure angle.
- 47:25That was that was actually a good one, Speedy.
- 47:28That was a really good question, Speedy.
- 47:30That's not the guy we think of where you're going.
- 47:32Bottom right. Bottom right, right here and
- 47:36let's move on. All right, so Chris Paul you
- 47:38were mentioning earlier in the basketball segment, he actually
- 47:41just resigned with the Clippers. So we have a Chris Paul theme
- 47:44question. One of his most impressive
- 47:46accomplishments was 106 to the consecutive games with a steel
- 47:50streak. So who?
- 47:51Which Hall of Fame point guard did he steal from the ball from
- 47:54to break the record? John Stockton.
- 47:57Nope. Damn in 2000?
- 47:598 Is there a year? Can we get a year?
- 48:01Now I said 2008. Oh, 2008 is.
- 48:04That in. The League no.
- 48:07OK. You said point guard or just
- 48:09guard? Point guard.
- 48:12They feel like. I didn't hear 2008.
- 48:14I'm going to say Jason Kidd. I feel like that's obvious
- 48:17though, I don't think. No, you're still playing man.
- 48:19It could have been man, but no Hall of Fame point guard, But
- 48:22no, not Jason Kidd. Is it Oscar Robertson?
- 48:25No, no, not. What?
- 48:26His grand, His grandson. Oh, I thought you were saying
- 48:30like. In 2008.
- 48:32No, he stole. He stole the ball from him.
- 48:35Oh, in 2008, I thought you were saying he he broke the whole the
- 48:39guy that I listened. To it wrong too Jake, I thought
- 48:42this. I didn't.
- 48:43I didn't hear it. Jake, the guy he broke the
- 48:44record from, I didn't even know who he was, so I wasn't going to
- 48:47make that the question. That would have been really
- 48:48hard. You want me to guess?
- 48:49I'm going to guess, yeah. What do you got?
- 48:50Steve Nash. Nope.
- 48:51That's a tough question, man. I'm trying to think who's gone
- 48:56into the Hall of Fame from that era, probably near the end of
- 49:03his. Career like guard or is he like
- 49:06A2 guard he? Said he said point guard.
- 49:08There's only so many it could be and I'm like blanking and I keep
- 49:13talking of someone but he's not a.
- 49:14Point. They didn't.
- 49:18Put Chauncey Billups in the Hall of Fame, Did they?
- 49:20I don't. Think so.
- 49:21I don't think so either. I need a blow pop.
- 49:25I don't know this one at. All I don't want to guess.
- 49:31I can't even. Think.
- 49:32Just guess. You might as well guess.
- 49:34Make it guess, Zach. I was.
- 49:36I don't know if he's in the Hall of Fame, though.
- 49:37I was good as my other guest was going to be like Jason Williams,
- 49:40but I don't know if he was playing in 2008.
- 49:43White chocolate. Yeah.
- 49:45He's not a Hall, not a Hall of Famer.
- 49:46OK, that's who I thought. OK.
- 49:48I messed up. I didn't hear the Hall of Fame
- 49:49part. I'm just trying to think of like
- 49:51very obscure. No, no, he's a Hall.
- 49:54He's a well known Hall of Famer. Oh, OK.
- 49:57He's well known. OK.
- 49:58Well known Hall of Fame point guard.
- 50:03I'm going to kill myself. I know I'm going to be mad when
- 50:06he says it. I need like a list of teams in
- 50:10front of me and I'm not going to cheat, so I'm just going to
- 50:12pass. I, I think I know who it is and
- 50:14I'm. Sitting here, go for it, we're
- 50:17done. I don't like.
- 50:18Can I get a guest to that mess? Go ahead, Jake.
- 50:21Is it? Is it Rondo?
- 50:22No. I don't think Rondo's Hall of
- 50:24Fame either. Does he play for San Antonio?
- 50:26Yes. Who do you guys think it is?
- 50:31Well, if it's San Antonio, it's Tony Parker.
- 50:32It's Tony Parker. Yeah, it was.
- 50:35It was either Steve Nash or Tony Parker in my head.
- 50:38So those are the only two guys. All right, Well, we didn't get
- 50:42it. Speedy, where you going all?
- 50:45Right. Let's go bottom left.
- 50:49All right, here we go. I missed it.
- 50:52Who was it? Tony Parker.
- 50:55Should have thought of that. Very frustrated.
- 50:57I didn't. I know.
- 50:59It's either one or the other. All right, so you guys got to
- 51:04get this one to stay alive here. We'll go back to baseball for
- 51:06this one. So obviously, I don't know if
- 51:08you've heard the Red Sox have had two straight games with a
- 51:10catcher's interference, including one that led to a walk
- 51:13off for the Phillies. I know, Jake, you're happy about
- 51:15that one. So the last time there was a
- 51:18catcher that got called for a walk off pass catcher's
- 51:22interference, it was a Hall of Famer who wasn't.
- 51:27Wait, say that one more time. So the last time there was a
- 51:29walk off on a catcher's interference, it was a Hall of
- 51:32Fame legendary catcher. Name this player.
- 51:35Oh, before, before, before. The other day A.
- 51:38Couple days ago, yeah. When?
- 51:39When the Red Sox did against the Phillies.
- 51:42How long? How long ago would this have
- 51:44been? Like.
- 51:46I think I remember I was watching the game last.
- 51:48They said it was like it was really long ago, Jabba.
- 51:50So it was a long time ago. I have no idea though.
- 51:55Oh, did. Is that a pudge thing?
- 52:00No Pudge Rodriguez. No, I think Sarah Lang tweeted
- 52:03this out this morning. Is it Pudge?
- 52:06No, it's not Pudge Jabba's right.
- 52:08It's further back. All right, it's right here.
- 52:12It's on the tip of your blue Raspberry Tootsie Roll tongue.
- 52:15No, it's green. You can't see it.
- 52:17Oh. It's green.
- 52:17What is that? What is that lemon?
- 52:20Lemon. No Green apple.
- 52:23Green apple is it Johnny Bench it?
- 52:31Is very good. All right, 1971.
- 52:34You know who I thought it was? Yogi Berra.
- 52:39Wow. All right, Java, you saved the
- 52:42day on that one. Super high clutch rating in the
- 52:45advanced analytics for Tic Tac. No blocking, speedy right there.
- 52:51We have We can win on this next one Speedy make it a good one.
- 52:55All right, let's go to some hockey.
- 52:56So as you know, Gavin McKenna, the big phenom got committed to
- 53:00your school jig, Penn State going over there.
- 53:03So among NHL players and this, this guy's an active current
- 53:08player for one of the tri-state area teams, who is the most
- 53:11points ever from any player born in Pennsylvania and he's an
- 53:15active tri-state player. So wait, what was it from Penn?
- 53:18The most points. Yeah, it's the most points in
- 53:21NHL history from any player that was born in Pennsylvania, and he
- 53:24currently plays for either the Rangers, Islanders or Devils.
- 53:27I'm going to predict he plays for the Devils.
- 53:29If I had the if I had him in front of me, I would tell.
- 53:32You I know I'm the same way like I need the I need.
- 53:34I'm going to take a guess. All right.
- 53:36What do you got? Jack Hughes?
- 53:37Nope, not Jack Hughes. I know it's not.
- 53:39It's. Going to have to be someone
- 53:40who's played longer. It's going.
- 53:41To be a veteran, it's on the Devils.
- 53:43I'm telling you, they're it's on.
- 53:45Is it on the Devil, Speedy? No, really.
- 53:48So the maybe the oldest. Guy I like the sneak I like I
- 53:53like this sneaky trick right there Earl does he play third
- 53:56devil's nose so we don't see the Rangers our eyes just.
- 53:58Go on, boys, Speedy's going to block us.
- 54:00Speed Act, Who is it? What is it?
- 54:02It's a Trocheck. Damn it, spit it out.
- 54:13Speed. Let's go.
- 54:14All right, so all right, there it is.
- 54:16There's the block. Next question.
- 54:18All right, so the next one is TJ Watt is one of two players to
- 54:22have 4 All Pro appearances in the last 20 years and never win
- 54:26a playoff game. What recent Hall of Famer is the
- 54:28other one? So what was?
- 54:30What was? The are you staying same
- 54:31position or just? All Pro any position?
- 54:34One of two players in the last 20 years to have 4 all pro
- 54:38appearances and never win a playoff game.
- 54:41Who was the other one? You said recent Hall of Famer.
- 54:45Yep. Can we get how recent?
- 54:51No. Oh wait, I know who it is, it's
- 54:54Joe Thomas. Nope, No he wasn't All pro 4
- 54:58times. Nope, he was more.
- 55:00He was actually more. It's exactly 4 is what I was
- 55:02going at. So speedy.
- 55:03That's that's not fair. That's ridiculous, Speedy.
- 55:10Come on, that, that's bullshit. Another question, Give us
- 55:14another question. Do you have another question?
- 55:16It's a very easy answer. All right, I'll give you, I'll
- 55:18give you. It was an offensive skill
- 55:20player. I'll give you at least give you
- 55:21that. Exactly 4 times.
- 55:26Recent Hall of Famer. Yes, Randy Boss.
- 55:29No recent Hall of Famer last five years.
- 55:31Oh skilled player. Yeah, so running back a receiver
- 55:35or tight end? Running back, receiver or tight
- 55:38end. Never won a playoff game.
- 55:41I never went to a playoff game or never won a playoff game.
- 55:43Never won a. Playoff Adrian Peterson?
- 55:44Never. Won.
- 55:45Nope. His team.
- 55:46His team was in the playoffs three times, but they never won
- 55:49a playoff game. It's not Megatron, is it?
- 55:53It is very good, Jake. Oh.
- 55:55I just said the only name that because you you're like playoff
- 55:59times and like, I think the only team I could think of was like
- 56:02Dafford and the lines and I'm like, well, he didn't have
- 56:04anybody, you know? Yeah, they have that run, but
- 56:07yeah, he didn't play that long. We're going to give you the
- 56:10Nathan all right here. So where you want to?
- 56:16Go. Let's go left middle.
- 56:18All right, here it is. All right, Speedy, getting late
- 56:22early here. All right, so Damian Lillard
- 56:24returns to the Blazers for a second stint, and he is one of
- 56:27three players that has seven or more All Pro appearances with
- 56:32playing two stints on the same team.
- 56:34LeBron is the obvious 1, going to the Cavs twice.
- 56:37Damian Lillard And who is the other one?
- 56:39Say that. One more time.
- 56:40So Damian Lillard returns to the Blazers.
- 56:42He has second stint appearances. So who are the only three
- 56:45players? Damian Lillard?
- 56:46LeBron is is 1 going back to the Cavs for a second time.
- 56:50Who is the other player with seven or more more All NBA
- 56:53appearances playing on the same team two different times?
- 56:59Jason Kidd Nope, he did. I know.
- 57:01We went to Dallas and he went back to.
- 57:05Dallas is it? Is it?
- 57:06Is it Wayne Wade? Now what?
- 57:08What are you saying Was it? Current or.
- 57:12It's it's 2000s. It's somebody, it's, it's
- 57:15somebody there. He's not playing currently
- 57:17though. Went back to his team and was
- 57:24obviously legit. Seven time or more?
- 57:27That's why I said Jason Kidd, because Jason Kidd was, he went
- 57:31back to Dallas. What?
- 57:32How many times did he how many times did he win?
- 57:34Who else went back home at the end to wrap it up?
- 57:39Did it matter at what time of their career or?
- 57:42Did you say no? Just just as long as they had a
- 57:44second stint with the team. Hall of Famer speedy it.
- 57:47Didn't have to be at the end of his career, yes.
- 57:50It did not have to be at the end of his.
- 57:51Career. How is it not Jason Kidd?
- 57:592000s. That's a tough.
- 58:08One Jason Kidd was five time all NBA not. 75 time off so it had
- 58:16seven time all NBA. So what was the position that
- 58:20was easy to get all NBA at center right?
- 58:24So it would be like Shaq. Shaq didn't go back to.
- 58:27Shaq didn't go back anywhere. Shaq didn't go back, Hakeem did.
- 58:32He go back to the Rockets. No, I think, I think Jabba, I
- 58:37think he went to the Rockets and then he retired on Toronto,
- 58:39yeah. Yeah.
- 58:44I may have a guess. I don't know if it's right
- 58:46though. Is it Kevin Garnett?
- 58:48Nope. He never went back to Minnesota.
- 58:51No, he. Didn't.
- 58:52Oh, I thought he did OK. So it's fish and Jabba I guess
- 58:59is left I'm. Trying to remember.
- 59:04It's so tough. All right.
- 59:12Seven time all NBA. That went seven time all NBA
- 59:16that went back. Did Pippin go back at the end?
- 59:22I'm going to say Pippin. Nope. 2000 Not trying to think
- 59:35it wasn't Dwight Howard. Same position, not Dwight
- 59:37Howard. Oh.
- 59:44God was Dikembe out in the tooth that now?
- 59:47I don't know if Dikembe was that good.
- 59:54I'm going to throw Dikembe out there.
- 59:56No, it was actually somebody that was mentioned before, Steve
- 59:59Nash. Steve Nash.
- 1:00:03Oh. All right, Speedy.
- 1:00:06Wow. Looks like you're going to block
- 1:00:08us again. We're almost with a full board
- 1:00:10here. It looks like we'll we'll just
- 1:00:11go into the Jimmy Leyritz when he gets in, but let's put it
- 1:00:17here. What's the last speedy?
- 1:00:19You can still score. You can still score.
- 1:00:21We can't win except for coming down to the tiebreaker, which
- 1:00:24has only ever happened once. And take that, no history.
- 1:00:27Let's do a speedy. All right, so Aaron Judge became
- 1:00:30the fastest of 350 home runs. Who was the fastest of 400?
- 1:00:34I'm just going to throw out a guess.
- 1:00:35Was it a pool host? Nope, a rod.
- 1:00:38Nope. Miguel Cabrera.
- 1:00:40Nope. Was it McGuire?
- 1:00:42Yep, Java getza. Oh, Java.
- 1:00:47Excellent. So looks like he had that run
- 1:00:49where it was. I think he hit like 200 and some
- 1:00:52in like 3 years it felt like. So I guess so Jimmy is in.
- 1:00:56So I guess we're going to call this 1A draw.
- 1:00:57Is that what it looks like? Well, the last one is the tie
- 1:01:01breaking question. Whoever is going to win.
- 1:01:02So it all comes down to this. Whoever gets this question is
- 1:01:06the winner. Sudden death overtime.
- 1:01:07All right, so we'll go back to football for this one, so.
- 1:01:10Honey ties get out of here. Honey Badger is just announcing
- 1:01:14his retirement as well. There were three players in that
- 1:01:16draft that were in the third round, picks that were Pro Bowl
- 1:01:20players. Name one of the other two.
- 1:01:22They're both offensive players in the in the 2013 NFL Draft.
- 1:01:29Are we talking about Russell Wilson earlier tonight?
- 1:01:32It's not Russell Wilson. Russell Wilson was the 2012
- 1:01:35draft. Nobody.
- 1:01:37What draft was Kyra Matthews the 2020?
- 1:01:4013/20/13 NFL Draft In the third round there were two two other
- 1:01:44players that are still both active that were Pro Bowl
- 1:01:47players. Name.
- 1:01:49Name one of them. Damn, I thought I had that.
- 1:01:53Russell Wilson was 2012. It was.
- 1:01:55The third round, though, I was right about that.
- 1:01:56He. Was the.
- 1:01:57RG3 and there were third round pick.
- 1:01:59Yep, he was. A third round pick.
- 1:02:01Russell Wilson was a third round pick in the 2012 draft.
- 1:02:03These two players in the 2013 draft, both offensive players.
- 1:02:07George Kim was was Kirk. Cousins in that draft.
- 1:02:11Kirk Cousins was also the 2012 draft.
- 1:02:13Yeah, he was the RG3 backup when?
- 1:02:17He was later in the draft. Yeah, he was like the fourth
- 1:02:19round, I believe, late. Four.
- 1:02:20I thought he was third. Damn man, pretty good questions.
- 1:02:27This this, this time, Speedy. Duty Dodger Joba is not an
- 1:02:36athlete. I like anal.
- 1:02:47He tastes himself. I gave up the booty.
- 1:02:50This makes my pecker hard. Who has guesses left?
- 1:02:52Jabba and Zach. What about skid mark?
- 1:02:56As long as she's using dude wipes and taking care of my 2
- 1:02:59hole I'm good. Pulled it out of my ass.
- 1:03:04Pulled it out of my ass. I I got nothing.
- 1:03:07I got. Nothing.
- 1:03:08All right, I'll. Give you, I'll give you 2.
- 1:03:12One more hint. One's a receiver, one's a tight.
- 1:03:13Ass I farted. 2011, 2013, 2013 Third round, Third round Guy
- 1:03:20became an all pro or just Pro Bowl.
- 1:03:23Pro Bowl. Pro Bowl, you said?
- 1:03:25From Wisconsin. I said he was.
- 1:03:27A Pro Bowl player? No, I said.
- 1:03:29He's just an. Off man Woody has no Woody.
- 1:03:31One's a receiver, one's a tight act, Jimmy.
- 1:03:33I shut up on your face. Jimmy is in, so we got to make
- 1:03:36our guess. This sound I don't want to keep.
- 1:03:37It all right, make your last guess.
- 1:03:38I think I know who one of them is.
- 1:03:40Wasn't wasn't that the year Kelsey came in?
- 1:03:43I need a magnet fire. Right.
- 1:03:46Yep. Jabba with the West in sudden
- 1:03:50death overtime. When you said tight end, I was
- 1:03:53like because I, I was thinking like running back and receiver.
- 1:03:57And then you said I was like. Who was the other one, Speedy?
- 1:04:00The other one was Keenan Allen. I shut up on your face.
- 1:04:03My dog wants your Pussycat. Oh right, these.
- 1:04:07Damn. Free.
- 1:04:07Yeah. Didn't just didn't keen Allen
- 1:04:09just retire too? That's crazy.
- 1:04:10No, no, he just resigned with the Chargers.
- 1:04:12Nice resign. He's still.
- 1:04:13Going Oh, that was Mike Williams, right, Mike?
- 1:04:15Williams retired. Yes, he signed back.
- 1:04:17With somehow Keenan Allen lasted longer than Mike Williams.
- 1:04:20Well, Keenan Allen was a better player than Mike Williams.
- 1:04:24He's like he like Mike Williams only made it like 8 years and
- 1:04:26now like Keenown's like year 13. Or he had a lot of bad injuries,
- 1:04:29though that, yeah. Unfortunately so.
- 1:04:31So has. So has Keenan Allen I think.
- 1:04:33He's he had a freak injury at the end of 20 beginning of the
- 1:04:352016 season. Keenan Allen's had like 3 big
- 1:04:38big injuries in his. Earlier on in his career and
- 1:04:41then last year there's still big, he had like a good stretch.
- 1:04:44He tore his ACL. I remember that.
- 1:04:47I think he did he not do something with his ankle or
- 1:04:50something? Yeah, he had a bad ankle injury
- 1:04:51at the end of the year, one of the years of were in the
- 1:04:54playoffs. He's had a lot of major
- 1:04:55injuries. And to come, I always thought.
- 1:04:57You know, was like the more underappreciated Mike Evans.
- 1:05:00Whereas like Mike, I think people have recognized how great
- 1:05:02Mike Evans is now, but people didn't always talk about him.
- 1:05:04I feel like Keenan Alan was the guy who always got forgotten
- 1:05:07about the 20. 10s receiver. I don't think Keenan Allen was a
- 1:05:09first round pick, so it was a third round pick.
- 1:05:12Yeah, so. That's what you're saying, all
- 1:05:13these guys, right? There I'm saying because he
- 1:05:14like, he worked, he built himself up, but like, he was
- 1:05:17always underappreciated. Like he was always a great wide
- 1:05:19receiver. No, he developed into one,
- 1:05:21that's for sure. And and thank you to Philip
- 1:05:23Rivers as everybody don't want to give him any credit for what
- 1:05:26he's done by. Everyone.
- 1:05:27You mean Steve Weiss? No, TJ Ward and TJ Ward, he he
- 1:05:32pretty much, he said none of them should make the and he said
- 1:05:35none of them should make the the Hall of Fame.
- 1:05:37So I was very shocked. That he did.
- 1:05:39I do appreciate TJ Ward for joining my Chargers Haider
- 1:05:41bandwagon. Thank you to all the fans that

- 1:06:18US Jacob McGee. Solid.
- 1:06:21There you go. Jake, good stuff.
- 1:06:23Yes, that'll be fun. A little a little speedy.
- 1:06:26Little left-hander. Yeah, little left-hander who
- 1:06:28likes to blow loads, as we all know.
- 1:06:31Anyways, thank you again. We really appreciate it.
- 1:06:34The fans. Thank you to Blue Wire.
- 1:06:35Think, oh, I just hit myself in the crotch.

- 1:06:41How the hell did you do that? I put my hand up and I slapped
- 1:06:44down and it hit me right in between my legs.
- 1:06:46That hurts. The karma for the angry dragon
- 1:06:48stuff. Yeah, it was definitely calm up,
- 1:06:50but Oh my God, I'm feeling it down my leg right now.
- 1:06:53Anyways, thank you to the fans. We'll be back on Monday.
