- 0:21Speaker 1: end zone. Our ten yard touchdown reception for Puppas and
- 0:25Speaker 1: the kid out of Washington State has found himself a
- 0:29Speaker 1: place on this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com. Welcome
- 0:34Speaker 1: to Hawk Talk Recap edition. Victory Monday is finally here.
- 0:37Speaker 1: We've waited three weeks for this day, and it's a
- 0:41Speaker 1: pleasure to get to the trenches with Ray Robbers. After
- 0:43Speaker 1: w it's time to go inside the trenches with former
- 0:48Speaker 1: Seahawk Ray Roberts. Big Ray. These Hawks get a win
- 0:53Speaker 1: on Sunday versus Jacksonville Jaguars thirty one to seven, and
- 0:58Speaker 1: the offensive production wasn't great. You look at the numbers,
- 1:01Speaker 1: you're like, man, they must have just rushed for a
- 1:03Speaker 1: lot of yards, passed for a lot of yards. But
- 1:05Speaker 1: it was more about being efficient and taking the opportunities
- 1:09Speaker 1: that this defense was given them. What do you think
- 1:11Speaker 1: about this offense? Yeah? You know, uh, the first thought
- 1:15Speaker 1: I had was, you know, I'm a big believer that
- 1:17Speaker 1: you know, in order to tell the whole story, you
- 1:19Speaker 1: have to have the data or the stats and the narratives.
- 1:22Speaker 1: And this is one of those situations. If you just look,
- 1:25Speaker 1: if you're across the country and you didn't see the game,
- 1:27Speaker 1: you used to look at the stats, you would be like, man,
- 1:30Speaker 1: like what wires say? I was so excited about what
- 1:33Speaker 1: just happened. They didn't really do anything on offense. They
- 1:35Speaker 1: didn't run the ball to do what they wanted to
- 1:37Speaker 1: run the ball, and this, this and the third. But
- 1:39Speaker 1: the narrative that goes along with that is that, man,
- 1:42Speaker 1: this offense looked efficient. It looked um you know connected there.
- 1:46Speaker 1: The run game and the passing game seemed to have
- 1:49Speaker 1: a rhythm to it, The play calling had a rhythm
- 1:51Speaker 1: to it. And then you know, this morning, I got
- 1:53Speaker 1: up and I was thinking about um, Tyler Lockett and
- 1:56Speaker 1: DK Metcalf and all I could think about was the
- 1:59Speaker 1: jay Z song. Allow me to reintroduce myself, because because
- 2:03Speaker 1: they've reintroduced themselves to the league and to what they're
- 2:06Speaker 1: capable of. DK didn't have the yardish, but he had
- 2:09Speaker 1: two big touchdowns and then Tyler had you know, over
- 2:12Speaker 1: one hundred and twenty yards receiving. So it was really
- 2:15Speaker 1: good to see them getting back in the mix, even
- 2:17Speaker 1: with the pass and it wasn't spread around to a
- 2:19Speaker 1: whole bunch of guys. But we talked in the pre
- 2:21Speaker 1: game about getting the ball to your pro getting the
- 2:24Speaker 1: pro bowlers to make plays, and that's what they've focused
- 2:27Speaker 1: on with this offense. In the second half, I think
- 2:30Speaker 1: they kind of got a little too a little too
- 2:33Speaker 1: cute a little bit in the running game. I think
- 2:34Speaker 1: they should have stuck with Alex Collins just a little
- 2:37Speaker 1: bit longer and he should have had more than ten carries.
- 2:39Speaker 1: But also though that they were trying to work out,
- 2:41Speaker 1: you know, some kinks with Richard Penny and kind of
- 2:43Speaker 1: seeing the same where he is. But overall, I was
- 2:45Speaker 1: pretty pleased of what the offense did. Speaking of Alex Collins,
- 2:49Speaker 1: do you think he should be the guy until Chris
- 2:51Speaker 1: Carson comes back, or do you still want to see
- 2:53Speaker 1: if Rashad Penny can get going, if DJ Dallas can
- 2:55Speaker 1: contribute to Travis, Homer can do his thing. How do
- 2:58Speaker 1: you feel about that? Well, the thing with me, uh
- 3:01Speaker 1: is that it takes. As this is another one of
- 3:04Speaker 1: those things where I don't think people really truly understand.
- 3:07Speaker 1: And they talk about the rhythm of the quarterbacks and
- 3:09Speaker 1: the and the receivers and the tight ends and the
- 3:12Speaker 1: skill position guys, and they don't really consider the rhythm
- 3:15Speaker 1: that it takes for an offensive line and a running back.
- 3:18Speaker 1: And uh, and you know, Turbot talks about this a lot,
- 3:21Speaker 1: and you know during our pre and postgame show, it takes.
- 3:24Speaker 1: It may take you know, a couple quarters or you know,
- 3:27Speaker 1: like fifteen ten, twelve carries for a running back to
- 3:31Speaker 1: really get into a rhythm with the offensive line. And
- 3:34Speaker 1: and uh, Collins seemed like he is able to get
- 3:37Speaker 1: into that rhythm a lot faster, but then they cut
- 3:40Speaker 1: back on his reps. And so I'll understand trying to understand,
- 3:42Speaker 1: you know, where Penny is and with the injuries and
- 3:45Speaker 1: all that, but he just keep saying the same old Penny,
- 3:48Speaker 1: like you don't see the production that you think that
- 3:50Speaker 1: you can have. He's a bigger back with some speed
- 3:53Speaker 1: and with some power, but he doesn't like really come
- 3:55Speaker 1: through like that, and so I think you either at
- 3:58Speaker 1: this point of the season where you're trying to get
- 4:00Speaker 1: winds and maybe it's just somebody films just have to
- 4:02Speaker 1: be hurt. Because if we don't have time to try
- 4:04Speaker 1: to develop someone, I think Alex Collins should be the
- 4:07Speaker 1: guy and then when he's tired, these guys can come
- 4:09Speaker 1: in and get some reps, but they shouldn't be taking
- 4:11Speaker 1: reps from Alex Collins if he's grooved with the offensive
- 4:14Speaker 1: line and gating yards. He was afacant, you know, almost
- 4:17Speaker 1: five yards to carry at halftime and then finish the game.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Avatan about four yards a little over four a four
- 4:23Speaker 1: and a half yards to carry, but he only had
- 4:25Speaker 1: ten carries. I like it. It's not personal, it is business,
- 4:28Speaker 1: and let's get back to business on that offensive line.
- 4:30Speaker 1: You have fuller and posted go at it this past game.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Who do you like more at the semispot? Who stood
- 4:37Speaker 1: out to you? Well? You know, the thing that's interesting
- 4:40Speaker 1: is that, uh, you know, I'm just kind of hearing
- 4:42Speaker 1: to some of the reporting and things that um that
- 4:45Speaker 1: uh Gino feels comfortable with posting, probably because they were, like,
- 4:52Speaker 1: you know, running second team reps a lot in practice
- 4:54Speaker 1: in the past, and they tend to have a rhythm
- 4:56Speaker 1: and our communication that that helps Gno feel a little
- 5:00Speaker 1: bit more comfortable. And so, you know, I said in
- 5:02Speaker 1: the pregame, I thought this was a matter of communication
- 5:04Speaker 1: and less of a matter of like actual playing style,
- 5:08Speaker 1: and so I think that showed itself yesterday. You could
- 5:11Speaker 1: even see you know, long y offensive line where the
- 5:14Speaker 1: center and the quarterback were talking to each other before
- 5:17Speaker 1: the snap, that everyone's pointing and communicating with some of
- 5:20Speaker 1: the stuff we didn't see when Kyle Fuller was in there.
- 5:22Speaker 1: So I think it really boils down to, uh, like
- 5:25Speaker 1: the communication and getting everybody on the right page in
- 5:28Speaker 1: the right direction, and then the play. You know, I
- 5:30Speaker 1: can't say that posit was, you know, miles above what
- 5:35Speaker 1: Fuller did, but it was, but it seemed to be
- 5:37Speaker 1: a little bit more stable based on like the communication.
- 5:41Speaker 1: What did you think of Darryl Taylor, He was banged
- 5:42Speaker 1: up against the Steelers, I believe against Steelers, flew back
- 5:47Speaker 1: with the team. Now you look at the stat sheet,
- 5:49Speaker 1: you're not going to see a lot of tackles. You're
- 5:50Speaker 1: not going to see passes broken up or sacks. But
- 5:53Speaker 1: it seemed like he affected the game. What'd you see
- 5:55Speaker 1: out of him? Yeah? I mean, essentially, you know this
- 5:58Speaker 1: is you know, this dude is a rookie right now,
- 6:01Speaker 1: you know, and he's trying to like work things out.
- 6:03Speaker 1: And I watched him on every play that he was
- 6:05Speaker 1: in because there's something about him that makes you want
- 6:07Speaker 1: to watch him. And that's a good thing. And what
- 6:10Speaker 1: I will tell you is that the more reps he
- 6:12Speaker 1: gets and the more understanding he gets of how to
- 6:15Speaker 1: flatten out the top of his pass rush, this dude
- 6:18Speaker 1: is gonna get sacked by the bunches because he was
- 6:21Speaker 1: so close, like at least two or three times yesterday
- 6:25Speaker 1: where he was trying to get around the corner and
- 6:27Speaker 1: maybe just got his off bounce a little too much
- 6:29Speaker 1: and slipped and missed. The quarterback was right at the
- 6:32Speaker 1: quarterback seat or the quarterback have room to step up.
- 6:35Speaker 1: So if the if the more push we get in
- 6:37Speaker 1: the middle, and the more he learns how to flatten
- 6:39Speaker 1: off the top of his pass rush, this dude is
- 6:42Speaker 1: gonna get a lot of sacks. Dude, he is he
- 6:44Speaker 1: is around the quarterback too much for sacks not to come. Yeah,
- 6:49Speaker 1: it's um, I like that You're excited about a rookie
- 6:52Speaker 1: that still has so much to learn about the game. Okay,
- 6:55Speaker 1: that's when I got for you, ray Hawks a three
- 6:57Speaker 1: and five going in to are there three through a games? Now?
- 7:01Speaker 1: They got two really big games coming up, the Packers
- 7:03Speaker 1: and the Cardinals. How do you feel about their playoff
- 7:06Speaker 1: chances right now? You know what? Man like I try
- 7:10Speaker 1: to you know, trying to figure out the whole playoff
- 7:13Speaker 1: mathematics and stuff is a little bit challenging for me.
- 7:16Speaker 1: And so what I'd like for them to do is
- 7:19Speaker 1: just do what they did in this game, like keep
- 7:22Speaker 1: it all in perspective and then just handled it one
- 7:25Speaker 1: game at a time. Be the best Seahawk team you
- 7:28Speaker 1: can be for that one game, and then you're gonna
- 7:30Speaker 1: have to let the chips fall what they make because
- 7:31Speaker 1: he essentially, you know, if you really want to think
- 7:33Speaker 1: about it, they're already in playoff football, like they have.
- 7:36Speaker 1: They have to win as many games as they can
- 7:39Speaker 1: give themselves a chance to get to the big dance,
- 7:42Speaker 1: and so and so right now, they can't afford to
- 7:45Speaker 1: lose games that they shouldn't lose, and they got to
- 7:47Speaker 1: win games that they're not supposed to win. So to me,
- 7:49Speaker 1: that's playoff playoff atmosphere already. So every week is the
- 7:53Speaker 1: most important week. Every game is the most important game.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Every win as the most is. They must win otherwise
- 7:58Speaker 1: you fall farther and farther away from the playoff opportunities.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Just win baby, all right, big right, man, appreciate your time.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Talk to you soon, Yes, sir, all right. That was
- 8:07Speaker 1: Big Ray and the trenches. Now let's bringing NASA Cholby.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Let's figure out what happened. See what had happened at first.
- 8:15Speaker 1: What had happened was losing streak is over. Finally the
- 8:22Speaker 1: Seahawks get it done to get their first win since
- 8:25Speaker 1: October three against San Francisco forty nine ers Bump. It's
- 8:28Speaker 1: only been a couple of weeks, but it felt like
- 8:30Speaker 1: an eternity straight up. Man, it was so great to
- 8:33Speaker 1: see this offense and this team get things going. And
- 8:36Speaker 1: it was a It was a total team effort on
- 8:39Speaker 1: all sides of the ball, offense, defense, special teams, and
- 8:42Speaker 1: things got going great again. So two weeks ago against
- 8:45Speaker 1: the Saints on Monday Night, the Seahawks started off grade.
- 8:48Speaker 1: They had that long pass a DK metcalf and essentially
- 8:50Speaker 1: did nothing after that well. On Sunday, they were able
- 8:53Speaker 1: to be more consistent. They started scoring on three of
- 8:57Speaker 1: their first four possessions. First possession, Smith engineered great ten
- 9:01Speaker 1: play eight yard drive ending with a one yard touchdown
- 9:04Speaker 1: as he dove over the top. Then, following a Quandre
- 9:07Speaker 1: Digs interception, Gino led another eight play seventy three yard
- 9:11Speaker 1: drive ending in a perfect sixteen yard touchdown pass to
- 9:14Speaker 1: DK Metcalf, which will break down later. But it was
- 9:16Speaker 1: just great to see. I mean, Gino played his best
- 9:18Speaker 1: ball of the season, made plays, took care of the
- 9:20Speaker 1: football and bump on the other side Jacksonville. Let's just
- 9:25Speaker 1: be real, man, they looked like you didn't expect a
- 9:27Speaker 1: one in five teen to look, couldn't get out of
- 9:29Speaker 1: their own way, penalize twelve times for ninety three yards,
- 9:32Speaker 1: there were five or fourteen on third downs, one of
- 9:35Speaker 1: four and fourth downs, and they did not score until
- 9:38Speaker 1: one forty nine left in the fourth quarter, and that
- 9:41Speaker 1: took it to a fourth and goal from the five
- 9:43Speaker 1: yard line. Bump, So it was great to see what
- 9:45Speaker 1: the Seahawks did. You don't want to take too much
- 9:47Speaker 1: of him a victory like that, but Number one never
- 9:50Speaker 1: apologize for Winston National Football. He gets hard each and
- 9:52Speaker 1: every week. The Jaguars were playing some pretty decent football
- 9:55Speaker 1: coming into the game, coming off their first win in
- 9:57Speaker 1: three hundred ninety nine days. But it was good to
- 10:01Speaker 1: see them handle the team they're supposed to handle. Yeah.
- 10:04Speaker 1: I thought the Jacks will put up more of a fight, honestly. Offensively,
- 10:06Speaker 1: I thought maybe they'd put up a couple more points,
- 10:08Speaker 1: but they didn't do that. You mentioned they didn't score
- 10:10Speaker 1: until one forty nine left in the fourth quarter. Trevor Lawrence.
- 10:13Speaker 1: It looked like a rookie finished the game thirty two
- 10:15Speaker 1: or fifty four or two hundred and thirty eight yards,
- 10:17Speaker 1: one touchdown, one intercession. Defensively, the Seahawks followed up a
- 10:22Speaker 1: great effort after playing the New Orleans Saints. I was
- 10:25Speaker 1: impressive against the Saints, say gave up three hundred and
- 10:27Speaker 1: four yards. This week, they gave up three hundred and nine.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Eighty of those yards came on the last drive in
- 10:32Speaker 1: the fourth quarter when it was twenty four to zero.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Just like last year. Have we seen this defense turn
- 10:39Speaker 1: a corner? I hope we have. I am optimistic. I
- 10:43Speaker 1: like that Diggs is getting involved again. He has an interception.
- 10:46Speaker 1: We're gonna talk about him and what he's done in
- 10:48Speaker 1: NFL history this year not I think only one sack.
- 10:52Speaker 1: I believe on the quarterback, but it seemed like this
- 10:54Speaker 1: defensive line was always around the quarterback. Jamal Adams didn't
- 10:57Speaker 1: make the big splash plays, but he's playing solid. They
- 11:01Speaker 1: might be turning a corner. When you get out the
- 11:03Speaker 1: bye week, They'll be tested by the Green Bay Packers
- 11:05Speaker 1: for sure. Let's highlight some of these playmakers. Playmakers. Well,
- 11:18Speaker 1: let's start with the quarterback number seven, Geno Smith, turning
- 11:21Speaker 1: his best performance of the season, going twenty of twenty
- 11:24Speaker 1: four for one hundred ninety five yards two touchdowns, also
- 11:27Speaker 1: one rushing touchdown. Started the game with fourteen strait completions
- 11:32Speaker 1: that is the longest streak in the National Football League
- 11:35Speaker 1: this season. Had a quarterback rating of one twenty eight
- 11:38Speaker 1: point three and Gino, man, you just love to see it, man.
- 11:41Speaker 1: And the thing about Gino yesterday that was really really
- 11:44Speaker 1: impressive to me was not only did he start fourteen
- 11:46Speaker 1: and fourteen, not only did not turn the ball over,
- 11:49Speaker 1: he wasn't He was making the throws. Yes, DK makes
- 11:53Speaker 1: a great catch on a couple other ones, but he
- 11:55Speaker 1: was putting. He was throwing dimes first, frankly, and he
- 11:58Speaker 1: was making throws. He was throwing eyes open. He looked
- 12:01Speaker 1: like he was in a rhythm. And number one, he
- 12:02Speaker 1: was getting the ball out fast. Yes, he did get
- 12:04Speaker 1: sacked a couple of times, but for the majority of
- 12:06Speaker 1: the football game, he was not holding on the ball.
- 12:08Speaker 1: The ball was coming out quick and the offenses flogged. Yeah,
- 12:11Speaker 1: offense look good and look the fishing d K contributed
- 12:15Speaker 1: to that. He has six receptions forty three yards and
- 12:18Speaker 1: two touchdowns caught, both of his touchdowns on former teammate,
- 12:21Speaker 1: should kill Griffin. After the game, he kind of downplayed it.
- 12:23Speaker 1: You know it was no big deal, but you know
- 12:27Speaker 1: there was something behind that. You know you're you like
- 12:29Speaker 1: hating touchdowns regardless, but you do it against a former teammate,
- 12:33Speaker 1: that has to feel good. Tyler Lockett had twelve receptions
- 12:36Speaker 1: thirteen targets for one hundred and forty two yards his
- 12:38Speaker 1: thirteen one hundred yard game. We talked during the game
- 12:43Speaker 1: it was essential that you got this guy going, and
- 12:45Speaker 1: they went into this game thinking we gotta get sixteen back.
- 12:47Speaker 1: So both of your number one and number two receivers
- 12:50Speaker 1: had games, and like Ray said, they reintroduced themselves to
- 12:53Speaker 1: the league. Oh, no question about it. You if this
- 12:56Speaker 1: offense is going to be explosive and operated a high level.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Obviously to run the ball, but DK Matcalffin's Hire Locket
- 13:02Speaker 1: need to be involved early and often. It was great
- 13:05Speaker 1: to see that on Sunday because these two are probably
- 13:07Speaker 1: the best, one of the best duos in the National
- 13:09Speaker 1: Football League, and you got two great weapons, so you
- 13:12Speaker 1: got to use them. So love to see that. Defensively,
- 13:14Speaker 1: you mentioned it earlier, that was one of the best
- 13:16Speaker 1: performances we've seen all year. They followed it up two
- 13:19Speaker 1: really good performances. Bobby Wagner, This typical Bobby. You checked
- 13:23Speaker 1: the box score. You know he's gonna have double digit tackles.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Another solid night for Bobby. Fourteen tackles yesterday. Jamal Adams,
- 13:28Speaker 1: you mentioned he had ten tackles. Nothing crazy, but I
- 13:32Speaker 1: like the way he played. I felt like he was
- 13:33Speaker 1: very much under control. I don't believe he had any mistackles.
- 13:37Speaker 1: He was around the line of scrimmage. He had a
- 13:39Speaker 1: nice hit on Lawrence, nothing good coverage, nothing happened down
- 13:43Speaker 1: the field, So it was good to see him just
- 13:45Speaker 1: play consistent. I think the sacks and some of those
- 13:47Speaker 1: other things are going to come, but it's good to
- 13:50Speaker 1: see him kind of get things back controlled. And when
- 13:53Speaker 1: the tandem of the safeties are playing well, that's when
- 13:55Speaker 1: this defense is functioning the high level. Quandre Diggs man
- 13:58Speaker 1: three tackles, two passes of one interception. The only player
- 14:02Speaker 1: in the NFL the record at least three interceptions in
- 14:05Speaker 1: each of the past five seasons. He's doing it. In
- 14:07Speaker 1: twenty eight games with the Seahawks, he has eleven interceptions.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Man so Quandre Diggs. Those two are starting to play.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Quandre has been consistent the entire season. We know that,
- 14:17Speaker 1: but him and Jamal Adams, I think, are finally finding
- 14:20Speaker 1: that sweet spot from the safety position and they're really
- 14:22Speaker 1: stabilizing his defense on the back end. Yeah, that back
- 14:25Speaker 1: end is tight right now. And a guy who contributes
- 14:28Speaker 1: in the back end also comes in when you go
- 14:30Speaker 1: Diamond Nickel. Ryan Neil had four tackles, one tackle for
- 14:33Speaker 1: loss in one sack, two QB hits. This guy has
- 14:37Speaker 1: been sneaky consistent as well, and whatever you ask him
- 14:40Speaker 1: to do, he is going to perform. Also contributes on
- 14:43Speaker 1: special teams. Big up to Ryan Neil. Right, let's go
- 14:45Speaker 1: to the receiver round up. Like we mentioned, Tyler Lockett
- 14:48Speaker 1: at twelve receptions four hundred and forty two yards along
- 14:50Speaker 1: of twenty eight that was on a little double pass.
- 14:53Speaker 1: DK Matcalf was six for forty three, six targets, six catches,
- 14:57Speaker 1: two touchdowns. Very efficient. Gerald Everett had one seven Travis
- 15:01Speaker 1: Homer had one for three. Let's go into the coach's
- 15:04Speaker 1: quarter and break down this DK touchdown. Shotgun formation, play, fake,
- 15:09Speaker 1: looks far inside, throws, puts the ball up, preaching up,
- 15:12Speaker 1: making a catch d K Man Jeff touchdown she huks DK.
- 15:20Speaker 1: I believe it was over Shack Griffin from sixteen yards.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Geno Smith is perfect here in this first half today. Yeah,
- 15:29Speaker 1: that was really simple, right when you think about the
- 15:32Speaker 1: concept or the scheme of this thing. The Jaguars line
- 15:35Speaker 1: up at man. Jacks played a lot more man than
- 15:37Speaker 1: I thought that they were going to play. So they
- 15:39Speaker 1: line up a man and DK's your number one receiver.
- 15:42Speaker 1: You number two, you have Lockett, number three, you have
- 15:44Speaker 1: Freddy Swain. Where Swain does, he runs what we call
- 15:46Speaker 1: you some understam over mike. Then he hitches it up
- 15:49Speaker 1: and whips it back outside. Lockett knows he's not gonna
- 15:52Speaker 1: get this football there, and man, he's like, look, I'm
- 15:54Speaker 1: just gonna have a bubble. I'm just gonna get to
- 15:56Speaker 1: the sideline and kind of open up throwing lanes for
- 15:58Speaker 1: Gino to see him. D K does a great job
- 16:01Speaker 1: of getting on the defender's toes, being patient because a
- 16:04Speaker 1: nice jab inside gets outside impressive cash. But that throw
- 16:09Speaker 1: is on point two. It's the back shoulder throw. He
- 16:11Speaker 1: knows that he has a six three six four receiver
- 16:14Speaker 1: who can go up and get him. DK does exactly that. Sorry, Shack,
- 16:18Speaker 1: you're playing for the wrong team now, no, I think
- 16:22Speaker 1: I mean, first of all, you're right. Geno Smith throws
- 16:23Speaker 1: a perfect football. He throws its the only place that
- 16:26Speaker 1: DK mac got to make the intercept or the reception,
- 16:29Speaker 1: place where Shaq can't really get there. And the good
- 16:31Speaker 1: thing about Shack on this play too, Honestly, if you're
- 16:34Speaker 1: breaking the tape down from a Jaguar standpoint, he defends
- 16:37Speaker 1: his pretty damn well. He gets it and he gets
- 16:39Speaker 1: in phase boom, he turns and runs with him and
- 16:41Speaker 1: he even turns around for the ball. Unfortunately, he's kind
- 16:44Speaker 1: of in an in between as he's turnedound for the ball,
- 16:46Speaker 1: couldn't really get elevation, and DK had something to do
- 16:48Speaker 1: with that and catch a touchdown right over his former teammate.
- 16:51Speaker 1: You alluded to it earlier. Obviously DK downplayed it in
- 16:55Speaker 1: the postgame press conference, but you love going up against
- 16:58Speaker 1: former teammates. Former friends, did this in practice for years,
- 17:01Speaker 1: and it was cool to see DK go up top
- 17:03Speaker 1: and make a playover his former teammate Seaquille Griffin. Now
- 17:07Speaker 1: he the Seahawks. He did a lot of good things
- 17:09Speaker 1: for the Seahawks. He was one, He went to a
- 17:12Speaker 1: Pro Bowl, did a lot of good things there. He's
- 17:14Speaker 1: making thirteen million in Jacksonville. I think the Seahawks made
- 17:17Speaker 1: the right decision in that sense. But great to see
- 17:21Speaker 1: DK go up and make a play. Big us a
- 17:23Speaker 1: geno Smith for making a good throw, and that's exactly
- 17:26Speaker 1: want to see. This is how you drawed up. But now,
- 17:28Speaker 1: for the first time, you know, almost a month, it
- 17:31Speaker 1: is time for our favorite formation, victory formation. Let's go.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Here comes the Seahawks offense onto the field and the
- 17:40Speaker 1: Vikings defense trunching out there knowing that one kneel down
- 17:45Speaker 1: and the Seahawks are gonna wind the clock down and
- 17:48Speaker 1: win this one. It's the victory formation on Hawk Talk.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Victory formation. The seahow is getting done for the first
- 17:56Speaker 1: time in almost a month. It was a total team
- 17:58Speaker 1: effort on Sunday. All phases of the game got are done.
- 18:02Speaker 1: The defense essentially shut down everything that Jags tried to
- 18:06Speaker 1: do offensively. James Robinson was knocked out the game early,
- 18:09Speaker 1: ended with four carries twenty two yards. Carlos Hyde tried
- 18:12Speaker 1: to hop in and fill in a Pila void, just
- 18:15Speaker 1: didn't happen. The offense was efficient. They took care of
- 18:17Speaker 1: the football, made big plays, and did not force anything.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Oh yeah, absolutely. It was great to see from all
- 18:23Speaker 1: sides of the ball. As you mentioned, total team effort.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Special teams helped with the field position the Jaguars started.
- 18:28Speaker 1: I think their starting field position was like a twenty
- 18:30Speaker 1: two yard line all game long. They're constantly backed up
- 18:33Speaker 1: starting drives on the ten yard line and so forth,
- 18:35Speaker 1: and then you score on special teams. Big enough to
- 18:37Speaker 1: Travis homer Man, he's a guy that I think a
- 18:40Speaker 1: lot of people love to throw shade at because when
- 18:43Speaker 1: first of all, when he's in the game, it's third
- 18:45Speaker 1: and usually third and long sometimes third and twenty, so
- 18:48Speaker 1: maybe you get a little draw play just get out
- 18:50Speaker 1: of the drive. So a lot of people were like, oh, man,
- 18:52Speaker 1: what does he do to contribute? He does it all man.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Maybe it's not running the football, but he's a great
- 18:56Speaker 1: and pass pro as a leak that's very known. We've
- 18:58Speaker 1: talked about a ton and on special teams he contributes
- 19:01Speaker 1: a lot. And he had the presence of mine because
- 19:03Speaker 1: on the onsite kicked the returns for a touchdown. They
- 19:05Speaker 1: kicked to him the first time they called, we called
- 19:08Speaker 1: time out, got reset. They kicked it to him again,
- 19:10Speaker 1: and he saw what happened the first time. He's like, oh,
- 19:12Speaker 1: they kick it to me again. The way they're playing me,
- 19:14Speaker 1: I think I can split these two. He does that,
- 19:16Speaker 1: he takes to the house. So great to see special
- 19:18Speaker 1: teams contributing and then lock it man the offense Tyler Lockett,
- 19:22Speaker 1: DK Metcalf super involved Lockett. This was the first game
- 19:26Speaker 1: over fifty seven yards since Week two, so it's been
- 19:29Speaker 1: too long. So great to see Tyer Lockett making big
- 19:31Speaker 1: plays again. Gino Smith showed us that he can put
- 19:36Speaker 1: a game together. Started the game fourteen and fourteam ended
- 19:40Speaker 1: twenty of twenty four and took care of the football.
- 19:43Speaker 1: That's really what we wanted to see. We all were
- 19:45Speaker 1: in agreement that he didn't have to go out and
- 19:47Speaker 1: win the game. But you can't lose the game, but
- 19:49Speaker 1: you're gonna be asked to make a couple of throws.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Quandre DIDs continues to show that he's a ball haug
- 19:54Speaker 1: this guy. And it wasn't even like a great interception.
- 20:00Speaker 1: But if he's not doing his job, if he's not
- 20:01Speaker 1: where he's supposed to be, he's not gonna make that interception.
- 20:04Speaker 1: So Quandre man sneakily the most consistent player on this
- 20:09Speaker 1: football team this year. Absolutely love to see Diggs balling out. Yes,
- 20:13Speaker 1: they were the Jaguars, but the Seahawks needed this game
- 20:15Speaker 1: in the worst way and it should help building confidence
- 20:17Speaker 1: moving forward. You know they talk about it all the
- 20:19Speaker 1: time at basketball. You'll struggle and shooting the ball. Get
- 20:21Speaker 1: to the cup, get to the rack, get to the
- 20:23Speaker 1: free throw line. See a couple of balls go through
- 20:25Speaker 1: through the net. Now you start getting confidence. And I
- 20:27Speaker 1: think that's where the Seahawks are right now. They're at
- 20:29Speaker 1: they're at a point in their season, they're three and five,
- 20:31Speaker 1: they're heading into the bye week, so good time to
- 20:33Speaker 1: get guys healed up, rested, and when they come back
- 20:37Speaker 1: from the bye week, it's real back to back, really
- 20:41Speaker 1: hard games. You got at the Packers and Cardinals. Those
- 20:44Speaker 1: two games will if the Seahawks can somehow find a
- 20:47Speaker 1: way to win those games or at the very least split.
- 20:50Speaker 1: You have to split. At the very least you have
- 20:52Speaker 1: a chance. Because we talked about this in the postgame show.
- 20:54Speaker 1: You have games against the forty nine Ers, the Lions,
- 20:57Speaker 1: the Bears, so there's win games there. You're just gonna
- 21:01Speaker 1: need to steal one or two. As Ray mentioned early on,
- 21:03Speaker 1: they're kind of a radiant playoff mode, but they're not
- 21:06Speaker 1: that far out of it. The Cowboys of the seaoffs
- 21:08Speaker 1: the huge solid last night yea with the Vikings taking
- 21:11Speaker 1: an l they're three and four. The Carolina Panthers are
- 21:14Speaker 1: four and four, and those are the teams you're chasing,
- 21:16Speaker 1: and you're three and five. So you're right there, and
- 21:18Speaker 1: think of it. You just gotta win some games, and
- 21:20Speaker 1: you know, hopefully the second half of the season, we're
- 21:21Speaker 1: talking about a lot of good things, a lot of
- 21:23Speaker 1: Seahawks wins, and hopefully a playoff picture that the Seahawks
- 21:26Speaker 1: are contending for take care of business rest up during
- 21:29Speaker 1: this buy come back, ready to go. Like NASA mentioned,
- 21:31Speaker 1: you got the Packers and the Cardinals. Man feels good
- 21:34Speaker 1: to talk about a victory on Victory Monday. It's been real.
- 21:37Speaker 1: This is the Hawk Talk Recap edition. I am Michael Bumps.
- 21:41Speaker 1: He is NASA Shelby. Thanks for hanging out wood As.
- 21:43Speaker 1: We'll talk to you guys in a couple of weeks.
