Transcript
- 0:02Speaker 1: It is a hard thing, but it's where you want
- 0:03Speaker 1: to be to have both humility and ambition at the
- 0:07Speaker 1: same time. There's many times my life where I feel this,
- 0:09Speaker 1: where it's like, man, I thought I was supposed to
- 0:10Speaker 1: be doing so much more than what I'm doing right now.
- 0:13Speaker 1: But I also have the humility to be where you're
- 0:15Speaker 1: at and be faithful where you're at, because if this
- 0:17Speaker 1: is where God has me, this is where I'm supposed
- 0:19Speaker 1: to be in this season, and God will move me
- 0:21Speaker 1: from I don't I don't have I don't have to
- 0:22Speaker 1: go promote myself. God promotes shepherds into king. So what
- 0:26Speaker 1: I got to do is be great exactly where I'm at.
- 0:32Speaker 2: That's impossible.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Let me tell you what I believe.
- 0:35Speaker 2: It's your weakness.
- 0:37Speaker 3: It's not your technique.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Don't think you.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Know you the Impossible Life Podcast.
- 0:46Speaker 2: I mean you're sitting on a winning lottery.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Second, an idea that is fully formed, fully understood.
- 0:51Speaker 1: That sticks. This is the Impossible Life Podcast because Nick
- 0:58Speaker 1: and I are attempting to live impossible lives. What we
- 1:02Speaker 1: know is that nothing is impossible. So instead of using
- 1:05Speaker 1: impossible as an excuse to not try, we'll use the
- 1:09Speaker 1: pursuit of impossible as an accelerant for greatness. If something's
- 1:14Speaker 1: never been done before, that just means it's unexplored. If
- 1:18Speaker 1: they tell you it's too hard, it's just waiting to
- 1:20Speaker 1: be simplified. Impossible as a default label used by uncourageous
- 1:26Speaker 1: people unwilling to take a risk. The real truth is
- 1:29Speaker 1: this The solution to any impossible task starts with this question,
- 1:35Speaker 1: if I had to what would it take?
- 1:37Speaker 2: What would it take?
- 1:39Speaker 3: Welcome to another episode would the Impossible Life Podcast. I'm
- 1:42Speaker 3: your co host Nick Surface, and I'm looking across as
- 1:44Speaker 3: a man who is currently suing the DMV for defamation
- 1:46Speaker 3: of character. That's right, friends, Garrett uncle back a man
- 1:54Speaker 3: who knows smiling in his driver's license picture is not
- 1:57Speaker 3: on brand. Definitely the fame, I mean your character. Dary's
- 2:02Speaker 3: laughing because literally, yesterday we were purchasing a gun together.
- 2:06Speaker 3: Not like it's not our gun, but you were purchasing
- 2:08Speaker 3: a gun and I was with you, and you pulled
- 2:10Speaker 3: out your license and I was like, bro, you're smiling
- 2:12Speaker 3: in your picture. And you're like, yeah, I need to
- 2:13Speaker 3: get that retaken. That actually shocked me.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Picture was during COVID. I don't know what that says, yeah,
- 2:19Speaker 1: things were weird.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Man, I didn't know what was going on. I did
- 2:23Speaker 3: not expect you to have a smiling driver's license picture.
- 2:26Speaker 3: So yeah, there you go, raise the Lord.
- 2:28Speaker 1: You know, what's a driver's license used for? Usually either
- 2:33Speaker 1: something you need access to or you've been pulled over.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Maybe like, don't mean mug the people that you know.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Well, yeah, the guy's gonna look at you though and
- 2:42Speaker 3: control your fate, and yeah, maybe he's not.
- 2:44Speaker 1: I smile at police officers. I'm you know, you gotta
- 2:46Speaker 1: turn the charm on when when needed.
- 2:48Speaker 3: You know, And I've seen you turn the charm on
- 2:50Speaker 3: and it's always a it's a tool, tool in the
- 2:53Speaker 3: tool bag. Yeah I don't think I like that tool
- 2:55Speaker 3: in your tool bag. All right, Gee, today's episode is
- 2:59Speaker 3: take the next step of your purpose.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Man.
- 3:02Speaker 3: We're gonna talk about purpose till the day we die,
- 3:04Speaker 3: because it is I think it is the essence of
- 3:08Speaker 3: what really drives someone to live the impossible life. Is
- 3:10Speaker 3: that that eternal calling card of the Lord that, like
- 3:13Speaker 3: we are meant for purpose.
- 3:14Speaker 1: One of my favorite scriptures on the topic, Ecclesiastes three
- 3:17Speaker 1: to eleven, God placed eternity in the human heart inside
- 3:21Speaker 1: each and every one of us. There is this hole
- 3:24Speaker 1: that cannot be filled. There's a feeling, there's a sensation
- 3:28Speaker 1: that no other sense that you indulge in can fulfill
- 3:32Speaker 1: this desire to fulfill what God's put you on the
- 3:35Speaker 1: earth to do. We all, like animals, don't think like, man,
- 3:39Speaker 1: am I living up to my purpose? You inherently man
- 3:43Speaker 1: knows that we are here for a reason, and you
- 3:46Speaker 1: seek that reason right now? I mean, there's other It's
- 3:49Speaker 1: not a reflection of iq, right, It's a reflection of
- 3:51Speaker 1: the way God made us. Because you know, the example
- 3:53Speaker 1: I use all the time is I've met some, you know,
- 3:56Speaker 1: really dumb people, and I've met some really smart animals,
- 4:00Speaker 1: and I know I have met an animal that is
- 4:02Speaker 1: smarter than the dumbest person that I've ever met. Wow,
- 4:05Speaker 1: I said, I'm just using that as an example of purpose.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Is not a reflection of intelligence.
- 4:11Speaker 3: It's a reflection of we were made in God's image,
- 4:14Speaker 3: and so what animals don't look up at the stars
- 4:16Speaker 3: and think like why am I here? What is my
- 4:18Speaker 3: life matter? What's my place in all of this? But man,
- 4:20Speaker 3: does I think that's so good? Because I think evolutionists
- 4:23Speaker 3: would say that it's just a function of like when
- 4:25Speaker 3: you asked that question slowly because you're superior intelligence, and
- 4:27Speaker 3: what you're saying is you're like, no, that's God's pulling
- 4:30Speaker 3: on us. It's his design work in the way it's
- 4:33Speaker 3: supposed to work. So ge this really is for people
- 4:36Speaker 3: like to take the next step because so many people
- 4:39Speaker 3: like don't know what to do, or they feel like
- 4:40Speaker 3: they're not doing what they're supposed to be doing, and
- 4:42Speaker 3: they just there's something unsettling when you're doing something. You're like, man,
- 4:45Speaker 3: I know I'm made for more. We had a last
- 4:49Speaker 3: week we went out to dinner with some friends. If
- 4:52Speaker 3: you listen to the podcast, I know we're getting a
- 4:54Speaker 3: lot of new listeners because they're commenting on Spotify, which
- 4:56Speaker 3: we always appreciate. So love having you guys, you first
- 4:58Speaker 3: timers here and if you haven't heard, you'd have to
- 5:01Speaker 3: go back to It was in late March when we
- 5:04Speaker 3: did our fifty mother and my wife unfortunately had the
- 5:07Speaker 3: terrible experience of getting hype innatremia, not getting she drank
- 5:12Speaker 3: so much water because it was so hot, she got
- 5:13Speaker 3: hype innatremia and almost died.
- 5:15Speaker 1: So it was somehow, you know, ninety five degrees in
- 5:19Speaker 1: March in Texas. Lendsay and I were talking about that yesterday,
- 5:22Speaker 1: just like, you know, so far, you know, Pierce is
- 5:25Speaker 1: doing up. I can't remember what it's like, the hobb
- 5:28Speaker 1: and Arrow or yeah, some hot race and I'm like,
- 5:30Speaker 1: I'm over hot races. Yeah, because every ultra we've done
- 5:33Speaker 1: so far has been a hot one.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Always. We thought this was going to be finally be
- 5:36Speaker 2: the nice weather cultra.
- 5:38Speaker 3: But we've run in December twice and March. What is like,
- 5:41Speaker 3: you know, we just need to leave Texas. I think
- 5:43Speaker 3: we talked about to other people about how they need
- 5:45Speaker 3: to use wisdom. Maybe we just need to plant our
- 5:47Speaker 3: next ultra, like go to Colorado, like where we can
- 5:49Speaker 3: guarantee the weather, because Texas doesn't like us anyways. Alaska.
- 5:53Speaker 3: I'm down, let's go. Yeah, we're doing the cold weather one.
- 5:57Speaker 3: But so Rien had an honestly of a brush with death.
- 6:01Speaker 3: The doctor told me he was like it was a
- 6:02Speaker 3: critical illness, and I was tired. I had been up
- 6:05Speaker 3: for like twenty one hours and run thirty seven miles
- 6:07Speaker 3: in ninety six degree. I was like, just tell me straight,
- 6:10Speaker 3: was she going to die? He's like, yes, she was
- 6:11Speaker 3: going to die. I was like, well, thank you for
- 6:12Speaker 3: saving her life. So I'm saying this now and you
- 6:14Speaker 3: can go back and listen to the whole story, because
- 6:15Speaker 3: it was an incredible display of God's grace and his goodness.
- 6:19Speaker 3: That is the real story there. But what was so
- 6:21Speaker 3: interesting we went out with some of the people that
- 6:23Speaker 3: were instrumental in saving her life and I could just
- 6:26Speaker 3: to say thank you, and we took them out and
- 6:27Speaker 3: it was really sweet to kind of relive that night
- 6:29Speaker 3: with them. And she asked a question. She said, so,
- 6:32Speaker 3: did you guys find like this, like a whole new
- 6:34Speaker 3: closeness in your marriage and just in life after the experience,
- 6:39Speaker 3: you know, because she watched it.
- 6:40Speaker 2: She watched Rian.
- 6:41Speaker 3: You know, she was in shock, muttering incoherent, incomprehensible like words.
- 6:46Speaker 3: It sounded like she was speaking in tongues for hours.
- 6:49Speaker 3: She couldn't even give her own name. So it's kind
- 6:51Speaker 3: of weird when you see somebody you love like that
- 6:52Speaker 3: in that state. And so she was with us while
- 6:54Speaker 3: that was going on. So she asked me that question.
- 6:56Speaker 3: I said, you know what, I was like, Reen and
- 6:57Speaker 3: I talked about this eight weeks after I looked at her,
- 6:59Speaker 3: I said, you had that, and obviously it took you
- 7:02Speaker 3: weeks to recover and get back to your full state
- 7:04Speaker 3: of energy. But once you did that, we just went
- 7:06Speaker 3: right back to our life. And that's the answer I
- 7:08Speaker 3: said to I said, if you asked me before that
- 7:10Speaker 3: that marathon, how our how our marriage was, I would say,
- 7:13Speaker 3: it's the best it's ever been and it's getting better.
- 7:15Speaker 3: And I was like, and if you ask me that now,
- 7:16Speaker 3: it's the same exact answer.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:18Speaker 3: I was like, so we just I was like, that
- 7:19Speaker 3: was one of the things I was actually pretty proud
- 7:21Speaker 3: of is there was nothing that it was like, oh man,
- 7:23Speaker 3: we should really look at this, or we should spend
- 7:25Speaker 3: more family time, or we shouldn't work so much, or
- 7:28Speaker 3: all the things that people with near death experiences come out,
- 7:31Speaker 3: like you know, I'm gonna go take a trip to
- 7:33Speaker 3: Hawaii or whatever. There was none of that. It was like,
- 7:35Speaker 3: if we would if that would have been her time,
- 7:37Speaker 3: she would have died lived in a great life. And
- 7:39Speaker 3: that's that's an awesome thing. But for so many people
- 7:42Speaker 3: out there, I wonder, and I want you to think
- 7:43Speaker 3: about this, dyninge early would be a real would feel
- 7:48Speaker 3: really unjust the way that we understand society right now,
- 7:51Speaker 3: but Dyne at an old age, knowing you missed your
- 7:54Speaker 3: purpose would feel so much worse. Imagine being eighty nine
- 7:58Speaker 3: years old and you're looking back and go, man, I
- 8:00Speaker 3: missed it and you can do nothing to change it.
- 8:03Speaker 3: That thought eats me up so much that just the
- 8:06Speaker 3: thought of it. So the question is do you feel
- 8:08Speaker 3: like you're not doing what you're supposed to be doing.
- 8:10Speaker 1: It's kind of like that to come top home. Yes,
- 8:13Speaker 1: be not like those whose fear of death. Be not
- 8:16Speaker 1: like those who get to the end of their life
- 8:19Speaker 1: and pray and whap for a little more time, wishing
- 8:22Speaker 1: they could do it over again. Yeah, ma'am, that's the
- 8:24Speaker 1: worst worst feeling that you could feel. And really, what
- 8:27Speaker 1: we're going to talk about today is this terrible feeling
- 8:30Speaker 1: that people feel where you know, and this is you know,
- 8:33Speaker 1: it's one of the things I love to talk about.
- 8:35Speaker 1: It's what a lot of people come to this podcast
- 8:36Speaker 1: for is getting a deeper sense of purpose. Because the
- 8:40Speaker 1: worst feeling that you can have isn't being poor. The
- 8:43Speaker 1: worst feeling that you have isn't being in pain. The
- 8:45Speaker 1: worst feeling that you can have is knowing that you're
- 8:48Speaker 1: missing it, yeah, right, Like I don't know what it is,
- 8:50Speaker 1: but I know I'm not doing what I'm supposed to
- 8:52Speaker 1: be doing. People ask the question, what's my purpose, and
- 8:54Speaker 1: you're trying to figure it out. It's either I'm not
- 8:56Speaker 1: sure what to pursue or I'm waiting for the next
- 8:59Speaker 1: door to open. You know, I don't know what I
- 9:02Speaker 1: want to do. There's a lot of places that people
- 9:03Speaker 1: get stuck in purpose, but you know it, like you know,
- 9:06Speaker 1: if you know if you're pursuing your purpose, and like, man,
- 9:09Speaker 1: I'm living on a purpose, and you also know if you're not.
- 9:12Speaker 3: Yeah, well you said to me, you have no there's
- 9:15Speaker 3: nothing that you're like, Oh, I really should be doing
- 9:17Speaker 3: something else, you know, like you don't know where you're
- 9:19Speaker 3: going to be in ten to twenty years.
- 9:20Speaker 1: That's where I want to help people get to because
- 9:22Speaker 1: like where I'm personally, for me, where I'm at in
- 9:25Speaker 1: my life is I can't tell you I know everything
- 9:27Speaker 1: about my purpose now. Like if I back up ten
- 9:31Speaker 1: years from where I'm at today, I didn't know I'd
- 9:34Speaker 1: be exactly where I'm at today. But there's also a
- 9:36Speaker 1: lot of parts of today that I could see ten
- 9:38Speaker 1: years ago, like the specifics I didn't know, but I
- 9:42Speaker 1: would like I'm when I think about what I could
- 9:44Speaker 1: see back then, it lines up with where I'm at today.
- 9:47Speaker 1: I just couldn't see all the specific details. And I
- 9:50Speaker 1: would say the same for my future today. I can't
- 9:52Speaker 1: see everything that's in my future, but I know where
- 9:55Speaker 1: I'm going, I know some of what the future holds,
- 9:58Speaker 1: and I wouldn't say a and in any way about
- 10:01Speaker 1: my life today that I'm not doing what I'm supposed
- 10:03Speaker 1: to be doing right right, And for anyone who's listening,
- 10:06Speaker 1: you can answer that question the same way. And if
- 10:08Speaker 1: you can, if if you can answer that question, say
- 10:10Speaker 1: like I know I'm doing exactly what I'm supposed to
- 10:12Speaker 1: be doing, fantastic, great, listen to this episode, take some
- 10:16Speaker 1: of the details, and maybe this will give you handles
- 10:18Speaker 1: to help bring other people along in their journey. But
- 10:20Speaker 1: for anyone else that you would say that, it's me,
- 10:22Speaker 1: like I'm not where I'm supposed to be, Like I
- 10:24Speaker 1: know I'm not doing what I'm supposed to be doing.
- 10:26Speaker 1: I know there's more for me. Well, we're going to
- 10:28Speaker 1: talk through that in a way today to help you understand.
- 10:31Speaker 1: We've talked about purpose before and I'm going to I'm
- 10:33Speaker 1: going to re explain the pieces of purpose. But then
- 10:36Speaker 1: what I want to be able to do is help
- 10:37Speaker 1: people understand what is the next thing that I need
- 10:39Speaker 1: to do, because it's that's the question we've asked me, like,
- 10:41Speaker 1: what is tell me what to do?
- 10:42Speaker 2: Right?
- 10:43Speaker 1: Well, I am going to attempt to tell you. Here's
- 10:46Speaker 1: what you got, here's what you got to do.
- 10:47Speaker 3: This is not something you like to do very often.
- 10:50Speaker 2: What I love.
- 10:50Speaker 3: I smiled whenever you were talking about how you didn't
- 10:53Speaker 3: know ten years ago what you'd be doing, because you
- 10:55Speaker 3: and I've been doing this for coming up on five
- 10:56Speaker 3: years now. Gee, we actually have to remember that it's
- 10:58Speaker 3: going to be five years soon. There were a few
- 10:59Speaker 3: weeks away from We're like one week away, bro, so
- 11:02Speaker 3: so we should probably I don't remember that. Yeah, But
- 11:05Speaker 3: the point, the point I'm making is, I remember when
- 11:07Speaker 3: we started, you said, I want to go as far
- 11:09Speaker 3: in business and ministry as possible. Like you said, I've
- 11:12Speaker 3: seen people that have gone they've gone all one way
- 11:14Speaker 3: and none of the other one, and I want to
- 11:16Speaker 3: I feel like I'm called to do both. Right, And
- 11:20Speaker 3: so when you say that purpose has two parts, and
- 11:22Speaker 3: the reason I smile is because I'm seeing you walk
- 11:24Speaker 3: into that same as what you said now, being your
- 11:25Speaker 3: friend walking close with you for five years and this
- 11:28Speaker 3: was like what you're doing now didn't even exist. And
- 11:31Speaker 3: I don't even I don't even know that the circumstances
- 11:33Speaker 3: were right. The season was not right for it five
- 11:35Speaker 3: years ago, and now it's the perfect season for you
- 11:37Speaker 3: doing what you're doing. So purpose has two parts. G
- 11:40Speaker 3: this you were the one who who engineered this once
- 11:42Speaker 3: you want you to tell them.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Yeah, So first people asked the question, well, like what's
- 11:47Speaker 1: my purpose?
- 11:48Speaker 2: Right?
- 11:48Speaker 1: And what you are wanting to hear is like a
- 11:52Speaker 1: statement or like do that you know there's there's God
- 11:55Speaker 1: gives a few clear purpose statements in the Bible. The
- 11:58Speaker 1: one that and we'll come back to this a minute,
- 11:59Speaker 1: but the one that I is a great example is
- 12:02Speaker 1: when God tells Moses, I'm going to use you to
- 12:04Speaker 1: shepherd my people out of Egypt.
- 12:06Speaker 2: That's a purpose statement.
- 12:07Speaker 1: This is end of Exodus three and Exodus four where
- 12:09Speaker 1: God appears to Moses. That's a purpose statement. This is
- 12:12Speaker 1: what your life is about. Okay. One of the and
- 12:16Speaker 1: we're going to cover both of these. One of the
- 12:17Speaker 1: ones that I love speaks to me personally is Joseph's life. Joseph,
- 12:23Speaker 1: he was the beginning his The purpose of his life
- 12:27Speaker 1: was to save all of Israel from starvation and famine
- 12:30Speaker 1: and bring them into Egypt. But with your life and
- 12:35Speaker 1: your purpose, you can cover it in two pieces. What's
- 12:38Speaker 1: in your heart and what's in your hand, and so
- 12:40Speaker 1: let me explain these things. And really your purpose is
- 12:43Speaker 1: where both of these things come together. Your life is
- 12:45Speaker 1: more than just you know, one statement or one sentence.
- 12:49Speaker 1: But understand that God does have a purpose for you.
- 12:51Speaker 1: God made you for a reason. I talk about this
- 12:54Speaker 1: every Saturday. A mighty men, so awesome and mighty men.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Yesterday I got to meet some guys from was a
- 12:59Speaker 1: North Carolina. Yea from Sale in North Carolina. Yeah, from
- 13:01Speaker 1: North Carolina.
- 13:02Speaker 2: So cool.
- 13:03Speaker 1: When people travel across the country just to come meet
- 13:06Speaker 1: us and visit USh.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Shout out to Jerry, Mark and John. They may be
- 13:09Speaker 3: driving back. They said it was sixteen hours. So I
- 13:11Speaker 3: was like, man, yeah, that's that's that's a journey. So
- 13:14Speaker 3: wherever you're at, come visit us anytime.
- 13:16Speaker 2: At Mighty men. I'm not gone very often.
- 13:19Speaker 1: I'm there like forty eight, forty nine weeks a year,
- 13:21Speaker 1: so but feel free to reach out to us if
- 13:23Speaker 1: you want to make sure we're going to be there.
- 13:24Speaker 3: Always reach out to us and by us me because no,
- 13:27Speaker 3: I'm being serious cause we've had people say, oh, I
- 13:29Speaker 3: was going to be here, and I'm like, hey, you
- 13:30Speaker 3: chose one of the few weekends that either Garrett's not
- 13:32Speaker 3: there or both of us, like, for example, a couple
- 13:34Speaker 3: of weeks from now, neither of us will be there.
- 13:36Speaker 1: So yeah, So anyways, one of the things I cover
- 13:40Speaker 1: at Mighty Men all the time is talking about God
- 13:42Speaker 1: is a plan for your life. God is a purpose
- 13:44Speaker 1: for you. God wants you to know your purpose. But
- 13:47Speaker 1: there's a process where you're going to discover what your
- 13:50Speaker 1: purpose is. And so that's what I'm going to explain that,
- 13:52Speaker 1: and then we're going to get into the pieces. So
- 13:54Speaker 1: first piece is what's in your heart? Okay, now, yes,
- 13:58Speaker 1: the if you grew up around church, I did you
- 14:01Speaker 1: know you're familiar with hearing that the heart is evil, deceitful,
- 14:03Speaker 1: and wicked.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Who can know it?
- 14:04Speaker 1: That's in Jeremiah and it's true. But God, and what
- 14:08Speaker 1: is the heart? Well, the heart is this desire center.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Bible talks about the heart over three hundred times, not
- 14:13Speaker 1: once is it talking about the organ that pumps blood. Right,
- 14:16Speaker 1: What the heart is is it's this desire center, it's
- 14:19Speaker 1: this way, it's this thing inside of you that it's
- 14:22Speaker 1: a capacity that God put inside of you to seek.
- 14:26Speaker 1: And what's really interesting about the heart as well, is
- 14:29Speaker 1: that the heart is where we wrestle with God. It's
- 14:33Speaker 1: really like the heart is almost like the altar in
- 14:35Speaker 1: your life because and a good example of this is
- 14:38Speaker 1: when Moses is speaking to Pharaoh. The first four times,
- 14:43Speaker 1: it's four or five. The first four times I believe
- 14:45Speaker 1: that Moses is speaking to Pharaoh. Moses goes to Pharaoh
- 14:48Speaker 1: and says, Pharaoh, let my people go. And it says
- 14:51Speaker 1: that Pharaoh hardened his heart. And then the last time
- 14:54Speaker 1: that Moses speaks to Pharaoh, it says God hardened Pharaoh's heart.
- 14:58Speaker 1: It's a really interesting thing about the heart. And we've
- 15:00Speaker 1: done other episodes I believe just talking about the heart
- 15:04Speaker 1: because you know, when when I'm praying for people, especially
- 15:06Speaker 1: trying to get people to come to know the Lord,
- 15:08Speaker 1: I will pray that God will open their heart because
- 15:11Speaker 1: people's hearts can be closed off, but also God can
- 15:13Speaker 1: do something there. But anyways, the hearts, by the way,
- 15:18Speaker 1: nicely done, thank you. But anyways, the heart is this
- 15:22Speaker 1: desire center inside each and every one of them. So
- 15:26Speaker 1: let me back up for a second with your purpose.
- 15:29Speaker 1: All throughout the Bible, God has a purpose for you.
- 15:34Speaker 1: God wants you to know your purpose, but he doesn't
- 15:36Speaker 1: tell you what it is. Right nowhere in there does
- 15:38Speaker 1: it say this is the purpose for nick Surface's life.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Yeah, it doesn't.
- 15:41Speaker 3: Been looking a couple of times.
- 15:43Speaker 1: It doesn't say that in scripture. So if God has
- 15:46Speaker 1: a plan and a purpose for you and he doesn't
- 15:47Speaker 1: tell you what it is, what does that mean. He
- 15:49Speaker 1: means he wants you to discover it, right and and
- 15:51Speaker 1: the Bible does not leave us lost on how to
- 15:54Speaker 1: discover our purpose. It is through through the scriptures, and
- 15:57Speaker 1: it's these two concepts of what's in your heart and
- 16:00Speaker 1: what's in your hand. So the heart is you're going
- 16:03Speaker 1: to have a desire, You're going to have a dream
- 16:05Speaker 1: in your life. But there's also things that you can
- 16:08Speaker 1: desire that can be both. They can be righteous or
- 16:11Speaker 1: they can be sinful. And we'll come back to that
- 16:13Speaker 1: in a minute. But the a couple of scriptures I
- 16:15Speaker 1: want to give you really quick on heart. Proverbs sixteen
- 16:17Speaker 1: to nine. A man's heart plans his way, but the
- 16:21Speaker 1: Lord establishes his steps and Proverbs thirty seven to four.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you
- 16:29Speaker 1: the desires of your heart. What you've got to accomplish
- 16:32Speaker 1: with your heart is you can have a dream, but
- 16:35Speaker 1: it can become a sinful thing for so many of us.
- 16:39Speaker 1: You might think like, well, I wanted to start this,
- 16:40Speaker 1: I want to have this business, or I want to
- 16:42Speaker 1: play a sport or whatever it is, and that can
- 16:45Speaker 1: become a sinful desire. Where you begin to like this
- 16:49Speaker 1: is how God tested Abraham with Isaac. I gave you
- 16:52Speaker 1: the dream, but then you better not put the dream
- 16:54Speaker 1: in front of me. Now, God wanted him to have
- 16:57Speaker 1: the son, but then God tested him with the son
- 16:59Speaker 1: with your What God wants most is for us to
- 17:02Speaker 1: be close to him, for us to be like him.
- 17:04Speaker 1: And a part of what He put us on the
- 17:06Speaker 1: earth to do is how we're going to grow and
- 17:08Speaker 1: mature in that right right. I made you with this capacity.
- 17:12Speaker 1: I put you on the earth for a purpose. I
- 17:13Speaker 1: want you to accomplish that purpose. But also remember for
- 17:16Speaker 1: our purpose. It's not that I'm doing something that God
- 17:19Speaker 1: needs me to do that he.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Can already do.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Correct, So why did God give me a purpose in
- 17:23Speaker 1: the first place so that I could know Him deeper
- 17:25Speaker 1: through the process. So there's no and no, at no
- 17:28Speaker 1: time does God care more about you accomplishing your purpose
- 17:31Speaker 1: than he cares about you being close to him.
- 17:33Speaker 3: Yeah, and that is so key because I think those
- 17:35Speaker 3: two scriptures, obviously we shows them for a reason. PROVERBT
- 17:38Speaker 3: sixteen nine shows you how it works. Like because like
- 17:41Speaker 3: you said, if you've grown up in a church where
- 17:43Speaker 3: you've been told that's Jeremiah seventeen, I believe it's seventeen
- 17:46Speaker 3: nineteen seventeen where he talks about you know, the heart
- 17:48Speaker 3: is wicked, deceitful. It's like you're like, oh, no, I've
- 17:50Speaker 3: got this disease in the center of me.
- 17:52Speaker 1: And but that's what that's what, that's what you can
- 17:54Speaker 1: It's a misconception that you think, like, man, the heart
- 17:56Speaker 1: is just this evil thing. Yeah, well, Ezekiel thirty six,
- 17:59Speaker 1: and this is still the Old Testament. Yeah, Ezekiel thirty
- 18:02Speaker 1: six says. God says, I will take out your heart
- 18:04Speaker 1: of stone and give you a new heart. So God
- 18:07Speaker 1: didn't just put this evil thing inside of us. What
- 18:09Speaker 1: that means is there's something inside of us that's really powerful.
- 18:12Speaker 1: And when we're sinful, which we all naturally are. When
- 18:15Speaker 1: we're sinful, that thing is a sinful powerful thing, right,
- 18:19Speaker 1: And what we've got to do is you've got to
- 18:21Speaker 1: have it's not being perfect, but when you're cleansed by
- 18:24Speaker 1: the blood of Jesus and you live, you're living a
- 18:27Speaker 1: life that is pursuing him. You can take your dream
- 18:29Speaker 1: and put it on the altar and it's going to
- 18:32Speaker 1: burn off all the sinful pieces of it.
- 18:33Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's why we put Psalms thirty seven four
- 18:36Speaker 3: because people sometimes will say, like the light yourself and
- 18:38Speaker 3: the Lord, and he'll give you the desires of your heart,
- 18:40Speaker 3: which is almost like if you placate God with whatever
- 18:43Speaker 3: you think it is, like you don't sin and you
- 18:45Speaker 3: give a tithe then it's like you can just go
- 18:47Speaker 3: all the stuff that you really want. It's just going
- 18:49Speaker 3: to show up. And that is a very transactional thought process.
- 18:52Speaker 3: When what that is is it's showing you the right order.
- 18:55Speaker 3: Like what you said, God doesn't want you to ever,
- 18:58Speaker 3: doesn't need your purpose to happen more than he needs
- 19:00Speaker 3: you to want him. Is such a perfect way of
- 19:02Speaker 3: saying it, because that's order, and that's how God works,
- 19:06Speaker 3: is order and authority.
- 19:07Speaker 1: And one of the revelations I've had in my life
- 19:10Speaker 1: something that guides me is God cares way more about
- 19:14Speaker 1: why you do what you do than what you do.
- 19:16Speaker 1: And the example in the Bible that I relate to
- 19:19Speaker 1: a lot is the story of Joseph's life where Joseph says,
- 19:23Speaker 1: you know what is Joseph's dream?
- 19:25Speaker 2: Right?
- 19:25Speaker 1: And what I'm getting to, by the way, is every
- 19:27Speaker 1: one of us has a dream because that dream that
- 19:30Speaker 1: like you got, there's a purpose inside of you. God
- 19:32Speaker 1: puts you here for a reason, and that's the most
- 19:34Speaker 1: fulfilling thing that you could do, is accomplish your purpose,
- 19:38Speaker 1: not be somebody else. You might think like, oh, man,
- 19:40Speaker 1: I'd love to be I was just used Tiger Woods
- 19:42Speaker 1: because he's someone I grew up admiring, Like, man, I'd
- 19:44Speaker 1: love to be Tiger Woods. Well, if I became Tiger Woods,
- 19:47Speaker 1: I would feel unfulfilled, which sounds wild to think about. Yeah, right,
- 19:51Speaker 1: but that's not what God put me on the earth
- 19:52Speaker 1: to do. But anyways, coming back to Joseph, Joseph is
- 19:56Speaker 1: a perfect example of this. Joseph has a dream that
- 20:00Speaker 1: his brothers would bow down to him, right, And you
- 20:02Speaker 1: could say, like if any like, if anyone goes and
- 20:05Speaker 1: tells their friends that's their dream, Like I had, I
- 20:07Speaker 1: had a dream that my whole family is going to
- 20:08Speaker 1: bow down to me, he'd be like, Wow.
- 20:10Speaker 3: You're pretty arrogant. Yeah, that's my dream with us on
- 20:12Speaker 3: our friendship.
- 20:12Speaker 1: To know it's a man like, you're so arrogant, right,
- 20:15Speaker 1: it's actually the I mean, it's also really interesting in
- 20:19Speaker 1: Joseph's life that script you know, it just says scripture
- 20:22Speaker 1: just says Joseph had a dream. It's very The text
- 20:24Speaker 1: is very clear. It doesn't say that God gave him
- 20:26Speaker 1: a dream, that the Angel of the Lord appeared to him.
- 20:27Speaker 1: It just says Joseph had a dream.
- 20:29Speaker 3: The story of Joseph, I don't think any like true
- 20:32Speaker 3: follower of Christ today would write that story because it's
- 20:35Speaker 3: not giving God enough glory because there's so many things
- 20:37Speaker 3: in there where it's just kind of like and and
- 20:39Speaker 3: God was with Joseph, and it's like a small little
- 20:42Speaker 3: subtext of just like how God.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Don't there's not one different than many of the other
- 20:47Speaker 1: stories in the Bible, because like God never God or
- 20:50Speaker 1: the Angel of the Lord never appears and speaks to Joseah.
- 20:52Speaker 2: I know, it's crazy.
- 20:53Speaker 3: It's the kind of story like, oh, I'm not sure
- 20:55Speaker 3: about this.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Was that really God? It's like, no, that was God
- 20:58Speaker 1: has but so has this dream that rose were bowed
- 21:00Speaker 1: down to him. Tells his brothers this dream and they
- 21:03Speaker 1: try to kill him. He ends up in slavery and
- 21:05Speaker 1: for over a decade, Joseph's life is going in the
- 21:08Speaker 1: wrong direction. But what he does is he stays faithful
- 21:11Speaker 1: through that whole process. And if you haven't read Joseph's
- 21:15Speaker 1: story in Genesis recently, go read it again.
- 21:17Speaker 3: And this is thirty seven, so good.
- 21:20Speaker 1: But Joseph, then, you know, out of prison, becomes number
- 21:25Speaker 1: two to Pharaoh, so at the height of the Egyptian Empire,
- 21:28Speaker 1: becomes the second most powerful person in the world. And
- 21:31Speaker 1: then his family eventually does come because there's a famine
- 21:35Speaker 1: his family, and he interprets Pharaoh's geam. I'm skipping through
- 21:39Speaker 1: the story to get to make my point. His family
- 21:42Speaker 1: comes to Egypt because there's a famine and his family
- 21:45Speaker 1: has to bow down to him. But that wasn't the
- 21:48Speaker 1: purpose of Joseph's life. The purpose of Joseph's life was
- 21:52Speaker 1: by means of his family coming. All of Israel then
- 21:56Speaker 1: came into Egypt. And if they had not, Israel would
- 22:00Speaker 1: of I mean, the entire nation of Israel would have
- 22:02Speaker 1: just died in a famine.
- 22:04Speaker 2: So what Joseph.
- 22:05Speaker 1: By Joseph following his dream, which seemed like man that
- 22:08Speaker 1: seems kind of arrogant, by Joseph following, but he was not.
- 22:12Speaker 1: God used him in a mighty way right by following
- 22:15Speaker 1: his dream, he got to his purpose. And it's one
- 22:18Speaker 1: of the things that I think is so interesting. Why
- 22:21Speaker 1: didn't God give Joseph a dream to save Israel?
- 22:24Speaker 3: I know, because he was never going to do it
- 22:26Speaker 3: in his lifetime. God's plans are so much greater than
- 22:28Speaker 3: one lifetime.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I mean, God could have you know, Joseph,
- 22:31Speaker 1: one day you'll save all of Israel.
- 22:33Speaker 2: That's not the dream that he gave him.
- 22:34Speaker 1: And so it's so it's so interesting, like how could
- 22:38Speaker 1: Joseph know that that's a righteous dream? The only way
- 22:41Speaker 1: Joseph could know it's a righteous dream is by having
- 22:44Speaker 1: a deep relationship with God, and like God, if this
- 22:46Speaker 1: is what if this is you, then then okay, right,
- 22:49Speaker 1: you know that's the only way you could know, because
- 22:51Speaker 1: other people are going to judge, but they're not the judge.
- 22:53Speaker 1: He's the judge, right, And so through a deep relationship
- 22:56Speaker 1: with God, I put this back on people the same
- 23:00Speaker 1: way I tell folks, you know the difference between sin
- 23:03Speaker 1: and not sin. You don't need to ask, like you know,
- 23:06Speaker 1: you know deeply within you, like if something is a
- 23:09Speaker 1: sin or not?
- 23:11Speaker 2: And like who told you that?
- 23:13Speaker 1: Did you memorize like every law in scripture? Do you
- 23:17Speaker 1: know is what is sinful and what is not? No,
- 23:20Speaker 1: you just inherently know, and in that same way that
- 23:23Speaker 1: that's a matter of the heart. And in that same
- 23:24Speaker 1: way you can tell other people like I don't know,
- 23:27Speaker 1: I'm not sure. No, you know in your heart one,
- 23:30Speaker 1: whether you're following your like whether you're living on purpose
- 23:33Speaker 1: or not. But also you know in your heart if
- 23:35Speaker 1: the dream that you have so deep within you is
- 23:38Speaker 1: righteous or not.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's so good.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Gee, you'll because you'll know if there's sin there in
- 23:43Speaker 1: that dream, and that it is one of the scariest
- 23:46Speaker 1: things to wrestle with because to give up that dream
- 23:50Speaker 1: or to try and pull the sin out of that dream.
- 23:52Speaker 1: You have to put it on the altar. You have
- 23:54Speaker 1: to do exactly what Abraham did with Isaac. Well, God,
- 23:56Speaker 1: if this is what you're saying, then I'll do it.
- 24:00Speaker 1: But you have to be willing to give it up.
- 24:02Speaker 3: Yeah, and this is the challenge. I think the story
- 24:05Speaker 3: of Joseph is literally the perfect one. You could look
- 24:08Speaker 3: at David because David had a chance to make his
- 24:09Speaker 3: dream and what he had been anointed to do happen
- 24:11Speaker 3: on his own behalf as well, but his heart was
- 24:13Speaker 3: in the right place as well. He didn't kill Saul.
- 24:16Speaker 3: But with Joseph, like you said, it's so I want
- 24:18Speaker 3: for those of you that are like man, I really
- 24:20Speaker 3: need to know right because people like you said, they
- 24:22Speaker 3: want to have their purpose laid out. I remember when
- 24:24Speaker 3: we were with the Cleveland Guardians doing our Bible study
- 24:26Speaker 3: and we said to them, the purpose of your life
- 24:28Speaker 3: is not to be a baseball player. I remember a
- 24:30Speaker 3: couple I could see a few of their faces like wait,
- 24:32Speaker 3: what because and because I said to him, I was like,
- 24:35Speaker 3: because if that's the purpose of your life, you're going
- 24:36Speaker 3: to retire probably if you're lucky in your late thirties,
- 24:39Speaker 3: then what's the purpose of your life? Because like you said,
- 24:41Speaker 3: we want a purpose statement. So imagine with Joseph, and
- 24:44Speaker 3: because I want people to understand the complexity of how
- 24:46Speaker 3: God can work, and because we want certainty. If God
- 24:49Speaker 3: had gone to Joseph said, Hey, Joseph, there's this guy
- 24:51Speaker 3: named Jesus. He's the Lambslange from before the foundation of
- 24:53Speaker 3: the world. He's going to redeem everything that God, that
- 24:56Speaker 3: all of God's creation. So what your purpose is is
- 24:58Speaker 3: to actually go to eat Egypt because we need you
- 25:01Speaker 3: to get into authority so that you can then allow
- 25:03Speaker 3: a place for your family to come down, reproduce for
- 25:07Speaker 3: four hundred years and get to the point where they're millions,
- 25:09Speaker 3: because they're going to be slaves, and then God's going
- 25:11Speaker 3: to show up and deliver them. He's going to give
- 25:13Speaker 3: them the law. They're going to not be able to
- 25:14Speaker 3: keep it for a long time. It's going to go really,
- 25:16Speaker 3: really bad. Then they're going to get come back and
- 25:18Speaker 3: rebuild a little bit and then fall apart again. Then
- 25:21Speaker 3: when they're slaves, this country that you don't know about
- 25:24Speaker 3: yet called Rome or then they're going to come in.
- 25:27Speaker 3: And then then She's gonna come and he's going to
- 25:28Speaker 3: die on the cross, and that it would have been
- 25:30Speaker 3: so far beyond him. And I'm saying all that because
- 25:34Speaker 3: I'm speaking to myself right now.
- 25:35Speaker 2: Gee.
- 25:35Speaker 3: It is a great reminder of humility that, like we
- 25:38Speaker 3: always say when anytime somebody reaches out to us and says, hey,
- 25:40Speaker 3: thanks for what you're doing or whatever they say, or
- 25:42Speaker 3: honored to play our part, yep, it is a reminder
- 25:45Speaker 3: that all of us, every person listening to this, your
- 25:48Speaker 3: purpose is not about you. Our purpose is to glorify God.
- 25:51Speaker 3: It's to bring his plans in the earth. And we
- 25:53Speaker 3: have to remind ourselves because it can be so discouraging.
- 25:56Speaker 3: We can look at things in our life and we
- 25:57Speaker 3: don't like the way they're going. And it's a fresh
- 25:59Speaker 3: remind you have no idea the part that you're supposed
- 26:02Speaker 3: to play in the greater part. But your job is
- 26:03Speaker 3: to be faithful. It is all for God's glory.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Yes, And if God printed out all the instructions and
- 26:08Speaker 1: told you why and said do this, do this, than this,
- 26:11Speaker 1: than this, than this would not give God the glory
- 26:14Speaker 1: the same way that if he just says, Joseph, you
- 26:17Speaker 1: have a dream, right, it's so wid that's part of
- 26:19Speaker 1: the point of right, that that it glorifies God, that
- 26:22Speaker 1: you would trust in him, brings you closer to Him,
- 26:24Speaker 1: and that you would pursue your purpose.
- 26:26Speaker 2: But we're getting a little bit off on right on.
- 26:29Speaker 1: It's a fantastic conversation, but I want to get to
- 26:32Speaker 1: really the meat of what I want us to Accomlishate,
- 26:34Speaker 1: let me go on to the second piece here. This
- 26:35Speaker 1: is a refresher. Yes, right, we have ti there are
- 26:38Speaker 1: multiple episodes on purpose. But you know what in three
- 26:41Speaker 1: hundred and thirty five, right, the thirty five and three
- 26:44Speaker 1: hundred and thirty five episodes, only four or five episodes of
- 26:48Speaker 1: you know, being focused on purpose is probably not even enough.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Yeah, we got more than that, dude, It's just tight.
- 26:53Speaker 3: There's a lot of purpose.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Second piece here is what's in your hand? Okay, so
- 26:58Speaker 1: remember this is what your your purpose. But if you
- 27:00Speaker 1: want to know the like we talk about this in
- 27:02Speaker 1: Mindset Mastery, like we teach this concept deeply. If you
- 27:05Speaker 1: want to find your purpose, you got to know what's
- 27:07Speaker 1: in your heart and you got to know what's in
- 27:08Speaker 1: your hand. Well, what is this piece? What's in your hand?
- 27:11Speaker 1: We did an episode on this by the way where
- 27:14Speaker 1: God asks. There's ten questions that God asks in the
- 27:17Speaker 1: Old Testament, and all of these are questions that like,
- 27:20Speaker 1: if God's asking you a question, is like when you're
- 27:22Speaker 1: a little boy and your dad asks you a question.
- 27:25Speaker 3: It's like, the question is for you to learn something
- 27:27Speaker 3: from I already know the answer to that question. That
- 27:29Speaker 3: was episode two thirty, the questions God is asking you.
- 27:31Speaker 3: It's a great, great episode.
- 27:33Speaker 1: And so again, if God's asking a question, it's not
- 27:35Speaker 1: because he needs the answer the answers for us. One
- 27:37Speaker 1: of those questions is Exodus four two. God asks Moses
- 27:41Speaker 1: a question. This is Moses, what's in your hand? But
- 27:45Speaker 1: this starts at the beginning, at the end of Exodus three,
- 27:47Speaker 1: where God appears to Moses. And this is what I
- 27:49Speaker 1: was referencing earlier, where God appears to Moses and gives
- 27:53Speaker 1: them a purpose statement. This is what most people think
- 27:55Speaker 1: they want, right, God just appear to me and tell
- 27:57Speaker 1: me what the purpose of my life is. Well, God
- 27:59Speaker 1: does this for Moses and Moses like what Nope, you
- 28:02Speaker 1: got the you got the wrong guy, Yeah you got
- 28:05Speaker 1: You're looking for a different Moses.
- 28:06Speaker 2: Right.
- 28:06Speaker 1: Five times he just says no to him, and it's
- 28:10Speaker 1: so I want him to get off on that. But
- 28:12Speaker 1: God appears to Moses tells him what his purpose is,
- 28:16Speaker 1: and Moses struggles with it.
- 28:18Speaker 2: But and so instead of God just slapping Moses.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Upside the head and saying, hey, dummy, I know what
- 28:23Speaker 1: your purpose is, like, don't don't make me like let
- 28:26Speaker 1: me hurt you, like, I know what you're supposed to
- 28:28Speaker 1: be doing, to help him, God asks him a question, question, Moses,
- 28:31Speaker 1: what's in your hand? What was in Moses's hand was
- 28:34Speaker 1: a shepherd's staff. Yeah, because really the reason Moses is
- 28:36Speaker 1: struggling is he's like, there's no way that could be me.
- 28:39Speaker 1: He doesn't see it in himself. He's like, I, you know,
- 28:42Speaker 1: they wouldn't listen to me. I don't not i don't
- 28:44Speaker 1: have the authority to do that. I'm not a good speaker.
- 28:46Speaker 1: Like that's just way beyond my capacity. And that's the
- 28:49Speaker 1: reason that God doesn't appear to most people and tell
- 28:52Speaker 1: them what their purpose is, because they would have the
- 28:53Speaker 1: same response, there's no way that's what I'm really supposed
- 28:56Speaker 1: to be doing. So to help him, God says, Moses,
- 28:59Speaker 1: what's in your hand? What was in his hand was
- 29:01Speaker 1: a shepherd's staff? Throw the staff on the ground, it
- 29:03Speaker 1: becomes a snake. Pick up the snake, it becomes a staff.
- 29:05Speaker 1: And I'm paraphrasing all of Moses's story, but the point
- 29:08Speaker 1: is that God shows Moses, I don't need you to
- 29:10Speaker 1: tell me what you don't have. I need you to
- 29:13Speaker 1: be faithful with what I have given you. And so
- 29:16Speaker 1: for all of like by understanding what was in his
- 29:19Speaker 1: hand was enough that allowed Moses to move forward.
- 29:23Speaker 2: And for us, we've got it.
- 29:25Speaker 1: Like, if you want to move forward in the purpose,
- 29:26Speaker 1: in the plan that God has for your life, you've
- 29:29Speaker 1: got to take inventory. Okay, what's the dream in my heart?
- 29:31Speaker 1: What do I want with my life? And then also
- 29:34Speaker 1: what's in my hand? What did God give me?
- 29:35Speaker 3: And if you can use both of those, if you
- 29:37Speaker 3: can possess both of those things at the same time,
- 29:40Speaker 3: you're going to be able to move forward in your purpose.
- 29:42Speaker 1: But where people get stuck is either in the dream
- 29:44Speaker 1: category and the what's in their heart and we're going
- 29:46Speaker 1: to talk about how to fix that, or in the
- 29:48Speaker 1: what's in your hand category. It doesn't mean you don't
- 29:51Speaker 1: have to be any person like for most people, they think, oh,
- 29:55Speaker 1: I can't I can't move forward in my purpose because
- 29:57Speaker 1: I don't have this, and that's rarely the case, right
- 30:01Speaker 1: It's you got to be faithful with what you have
- 30:03Speaker 1: right now, David, you know, and doesn't ever say that
- 30:06Speaker 1: David had a dream to be king, So I don't
- 30:08Speaker 1: know if he did, but I bet David didn't want
- 30:11Speaker 1: to stay where he was.
- 30:12Speaker 3: Yeah, Oh man, you read some of his psalms, and
- 30:14Speaker 3: you know, this was a dude who was thinking, like,
- 30:16Speaker 3: you know when he's talking about when I look up
- 30:17Speaker 3: at the stars, the work of your hands? You know,
- 30:19Speaker 3: what is man? That you're mindful of the son of Man,
- 30:21Speaker 3: that he's on your thoughts. It's like, and I'm paraphrasing
- 30:24Speaker 3: that Psalms eight. This was not a dude who was
- 30:26Speaker 3: out there just going, well, there's the sheep, hate my life,
- 30:29Speaker 3: you know what I mean? Like he's looking up and
- 30:31Speaker 3: realizing there's a vastness. There was definitely an eternal pull
- 30:33Speaker 3: on him.
- 30:34Speaker 1: I would I would imagine, you know, for to be
- 30:37Speaker 1: a young man who had killed lions and bears that
- 30:40Speaker 1: as a young teenager saw a giant and said like,
- 30:44Speaker 1: who is this? You know, uncircumcised philistine who blasphems our God.
- 30:48Speaker 1: Probably a dude who's got a little bit of greatness
- 30:50Speaker 1: capacity inside of him for sure. Anyways, the point that
- 30:52Speaker 1: I'm making is don't know if he had a dream
- 30:54Speaker 1: to be king. But what David did do is say,
- 30:56Speaker 1: you know what, well, this is where God has me,
- 30:58Speaker 1: and this is what is in my hand is being
- 31:00Speaker 1: a shepherd, and I'm going to be great at this.
- 31:03Speaker 1: And this is what I like to call God promotions. Yes,
- 31:06Speaker 1: when you'll be faithful with where you are, God takes
- 31:08Speaker 1: shepherds and make some kings.
- 31:10Speaker 3: Yeah, and I will say what's in your hand? Part
- 31:13Speaker 3: of this in Exodus four two we do in the
- 31:16Speaker 3: Purpose Playbook, we actually help people walk through this. The
- 31:20Speaker 3: point of what I'm saying is that we're not always
- 31:22Speaker 3: so good at realizing what's in our hand because it's
- 31:25Speaker 3: usually not physical. Right, there's gonna be some physical obviously,
- 31:28Speaker 3: you've got your body and you got and everybody's good
- 31:30Speaker 3: at picking those things up. But what I've found is
- 31:32Speaker 3: when God brings purpose together, and I've helped walk some
- 31:34Speaker 3: people through purpose the same as you. We've walked probably
- 31:37Speaker 3: quite a few people at this point, what I always
- 31:39Speaker 3: find is it's like I'm helping them see all the
- 31:42Speaker 3: puzzle pieces on the table. And when you see all
- 31:45Speaker 3: the puzzle pieces on the table, you don't necessarily go like, oh,
- 31:47Speaker 3: I'll just put them together real quick, but you can go, oh, okay,
- 31:49Speaker 3: I'm starting to see where I need to do my
- 31:51Speaker 3: work so that then I can get to the other
- 31:53Speaker 3: piece of the puzzle. Most people, they can't even see
- 31:56Speaker 3: half of the puzzle pieces. And so when I've worked
- 31:58Speaker 3: with people, I'm like, no, look at this, and at this,
- 32:00Speaker 3: look at what's already there, because people are looking for
- 32:02Speaker 3: something they don't have, and oftentimes it's like it's what
- 32:05Speaker 3: you do have, but you're not even seeing it. And
- 32:07Speaker 3: that's what that's what what's in your hand is I.
- 32:09Speaker 1: Went, I mean, I've been through this multiple times in
- 32:11Speaker 1: my own life where I took inventory of what's in
- 32:14Speaker 1: my hand and even you know, I would say sharpened
- 32:18Speaker 1: that tool. It's like, but I had a tool, I'm like,
- 32:20Speaker 1: I have no use for this tool, but I'm going
- 32:22Speaker 1: to sharpen it.
- 32:23Speaker 2: I'm going to develop it. And I twice in my
- 32:26Speaker 2: life I've asked God, like, God, why did.
- 32:27Speaker 1: You make me this way? Why did you give me
- 32:29Speaker 1: this capacity? And you know you know this about me?
- 32:32Speaker 1: One of what I have said my some of what
- 32:34Speaker 1: I've said my strengths are is being a chaos navigator
- 32:38Speaker 1: and in odds to fire. And that's exactly where I'm
- 32:40Speaker 1: at in my life today. And I could not be
- 32:42Speaker 1: doing the things I'm doing in my life today now
- 32:46Speaker 1: if I hadn't just not just the way that God
- 32:48Speaker 1: made me, but taken the way God made me and
- 32:51Speaker 1: over developed it way beyond what I personally needed it
- 32:54Speaker 1: for in the season that I was developing it. If
- 32:56Speaker 1: I had not done that, I would not be I
- 32:58Speaker 1: would not be capable of doing what I'm doing today, right.
- 33:00Speaker 3: And I do know you and you once said to
- 33:02Speaker 3: me that you live with a constant yes. And I
- 33:05Speaker 3: want people to capture this because this is really key
- 33:07Speaker 3: for purpose. A lot of people, the reason they're stuck
- 33:10Speaker 3: is because they're waiting for what you said. They need
- 33:12Speaker 3: the burning bush, or they need a word from the Lord,
- 33:14Speaker 3: or they need someone to say, like, here's what you're
- 33:16Speaker 3: gonna do before they'll move. I remember you said, when
- 33:18Speaker 3: you live with a constant yes, you know when you
- 33:20Speaker 3: get God's no. That was what you said to them.
- 33:22Speaker 3: I was like, that's so good. So what we're saying
- 33:24Speaker 3: we want you to be unleashed the way my old pastor.
- 33:27Speaker 2: Let's explain that a little bit more.
- 33:28Speaker 3: I was gonna say that the way my old pastor
- 33:30Speaker 3: used to say is you can't turn a car that's
- 33:31Speaker 3: in park. You got to you got to start trying
- 33:34Speaker 3: stuff like be the be the dog that wants to eat.
- 33:36Speaker 1: That's how you used to say it. In the seal teams. Well, yeah,
- 33:38Speaker 1: I wanted. I mean to do the job that I
- 33:41Speaker 1: did in the military. You have to be someone who
- 33:44Speaker 1: uh takes action and is a courageous person. You can't
- 33:48Speaker 1: be someone who like always has to be kicked and
- 33:51Speaker 1: told what to do right right when it comes to
- 33:53Speaker 1: like that specific analogy was for clearing buildings, It's like, look,
- 33:57Speaker 1: you know what, you know what to do, go do
- 33:59Speaker 1: it right. What you can't do is like clear a
- 34:01Speaker 1: hallway and then get stuck at the hallway and be
- 34:03Speaker 1: like Chief, you want me to keep going? That doesn't
- 34:05Speaker 1: work right, Like you just got to keep kicking the
- 34:07Speaker 1: dog to like go get the bird. It's like, no,
- 34:09Speaker 1: you got to be a dog that like I have
- 34:12Speaker 1: to go get the bird. And it's like you want
- 34:15Speaker 1: to be that kind of you want to be that
- 34:17Speaker 1: kind of dog or God wants us to be that way.
- 34:20Speaker 1: When you're working with employees, you want those type of
- 34:22Speaker 1: people that it's like, make me pull you back, don't
- 34:24Speaker 1: make me kick you forward. And I have done what
- 34:27Speaker 1: I can to be that way with God. And that's
- 34:29Speaker 1: what Nick means by a constant Yes, it's like, look,
- 34:31Speaker 1: I get on my knees every day before God. I
- 34:33Speaker 1: have a lot of ambition, I have a lot of desires.
- 34:37Speaker 1: I get on my knees every day before God and say, God,
- 34:39Speaker 1: if you don't want this, I don't want it. And
- 34:42Speaker 1: I have a level of and I'm getting ahead of
- 34:44Speaker 1: myself a little bit on what we're going to cover,
- 34:46Speaker 1: but it's okay if we repeat it. I live in
- 34:49Speaker 1: a certain way where I know you know what I'm
- 34:52Speaker 1: chasing after, I'm doing it for the right reasons, and.
- 34:55Speaker 2: God will speak to me like it'll be clear, like
- 34:57Speaker 2: God will speak to my heart. Oh no, I'm what
- 35:00Speaker 2: if what I'm doing becomes a sinful thing? Right?
- 35:02Speaker 1: And so I'm not looking for God to tell me like, yes,
- 35:05Speaker 1: go do it. It's like I have already trained you
- 35:08Speaker 1: and authorized you and put you in a place to
- 35:10Speaker 1: go do this thing. You why you keep asking me
- 35:13Speaker 1: to tell you should do this?
- 35:14Speaker 2: Right?
- 35:15Speaker 3: Yeah, very good? All right, gee, let's let's let's get
- 35:18Speaker 3: to the I want to talk about the cure for
- 35:19Speaker 3: a lack of action. But before we do that, you've
- 35:22Speaker 3: said it. You said it like this and warm when
- 35:24Speaker 3: I thought it was so good. So I want to
- 35:25Speaker 3: make sure that it's for people. When you know that
- 35:27Speaker 3: God's put inside of you what you're supposed to do
- 35:31Speaker 3: that is a place of reassurance. And what you just
- 35:33Speaker 3: talked about about getting on your knees every day, I
- 35:35Speaker 3: like highlight that. I feel like that's probably one of
- 35:37Speaker 3: the most things that you say that I repeat to
- 35:38Speaker 3: people all the time because I think that it's such
- 35:40Speaker 3: a it's a thing that you say that people can
- 35:41Speaker 3: be like, all right, yeah, cool, But it's putting that
- 35:43Speaker 3: thing on the altar, right, because you said, when we're
- 35:46Speaker 3: putting the thing that God's put in our heart on
- 35:47Speaker 3: the altar, we're letting the sinful parts of it burn off, right,
- 35:50Speaker 3: And that comes from a depth of relationship. You said
- 35:53Speaker 3: it earlier, like you have to want him more than
- 35:55Speaker 3: anything else, which guess what that includes even working for him.
- 35:58Speaker 3: Oftentimes people can like be like, they're so apt to
- 36:00Speaker 3: work for God more than his blessings and more than
- 36:03Speaker 3: his purpose, more than more than purpose. So you have
- 36:05Speaker 3: to want him more than anything else. That is truly
- 36:07Speaker 3: what it's like to live with your life on the altar.
- 36:10Speaker 3: And when we say that, I think it sounds like
- 36:12Speaker 3: understandable in concept, but like practical application. I have an example, Jeeve,
- 36:17Speaker 3: but like there's practal applications of how this works out.
- 36:19Speaker 3: I just want to make sure people grasp this before
- 36:21Speaker 3: we talk about taking action.
- 36:22Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll jump into this and I'll just say on
- 36:25Speaker 1: you know, God's put it inside of you.
- 36:28Speaker 2: This is both biblical and this is.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Also ancient wisdom, and it's one of the most powerful
- 36:33Speaker 1: Greek sayings, know thyself Aristotle who said knowing yourself is
- 36:38Speaker 1: the beginning of all wisdom.
- 36:40Speaker 2: Right.
- 36:40Speaker 1: Socrates said, the unexamined life is not worth living. Right,
- 36:44Speaker 1: you have to know, Like, you've got to know yourself.
- 36:46Speaker 1: You've got to know what's inside of you. That is
- 36:48Speaker 1: part of like if you just read the Hero's Journey
- 36:52Speaker 1: or understand what a hero's journey is in life, it
- 36:55Speaker 1: is a it's a story of him realizing where he
- 36:58Speaker 1: came from. Who he is, how he is, and that's
- 37:02Speaker 1: what sets him up to do what he's supposed to do.
- 37:04Speaker 1: And within each one of us, God has made you
- 37:07Speaker 1: a certain way. And until you develop yourself and search
- 37:10Speaker 1: the depths of your heart and develop your relationship with God,
- 37:13Speaker 1: you're just not gonna You're not going to get to
- 37:15Speaker 1: your purpose.
- 37:16Speaker 2: You're not ready.
- 37:17Speaker 1: But when you develop yourself, that's what's going to open
- 37:20Speaker 1: the door for you to walk into what God has
- 37:23Speaker 1: for you to do on the earth.
- 37:24Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure. With the I want to give a
- 37:27Speaker 3: practical example, geef for like what it is to have
- 37:30Speaker 3: your heart on the altar, because people will think of
- 37:33Speaker 3: things like, oh, well maybe this is good, maybe this
- 37:34Speaker 3: is bad, right, I mean, did you want you?
- 37:36Speaker 2: Yeah? So this is okay.
- 37:38Speaker 1: This is a good understanding for people to have as
- 37:41Speaker 1: it relates to purpose. I've used multiple analogies for this,
- 37:44Speaker 1: but the point about your purpose is understanding that God
- 37:47Speaker 1: cares way more why you do what you do than
- 37:50Speaker 1: what you do. And a great example of that is again,
- 37:53Speaker 1: because you're part like in growing into your purpose, You've
- 37:57Speaker 1: got to get to this place in your heart God.
- 38:00Speaker 2: Okay.
- 38:01Speaker 1: And so I'm saying all of that to say, it's
- 38:04Speaker 1: why you do it, not just what you do. And
- 38:06Speaker 1: a practical example of that is sex. Okay, sex can
- 38:10Speaker 1: be something that is holy and righteous. Right, and remember
- 38:13Speaker 1: what holiness is. It means to be used rightly. It's
- 38:15Speaker 1: in line with its design. God designed sex within the
- 38:18Speaker 1: intimacy of marriage to be a beautiful, wonderful, amazing thing,
- 38:22Speaker 1: Praise the Lord. Sex can also be a terrible, sinful thing. Right,
- 38:26Speaker 1: But they're both sex, right, right, But one can be
- 38:29Speaker 1: holy and righteous, one can be terrible and sinful. And
- 38:33Speaker 1: why you're doing it and where you're doing it, the
- 38:36Speaker 1: context of where, when, how you're doing it is what
- 38:39Speaker 1: makes it righteous or not. So I would say the
- 38:41Speaker 1: same thing about like, okay, pull sex out and let's
- 38:45Speaker 1: put your purpose in there. Right you accomplishing your purpose
- 38:49Speaker 1: could be a terrible thing. You Joseph getting his brother's
- 38:52Speaker 1: a bow down to him could have been a terrible,
- 38:55Speaker 1: very good could have been a terrible, arrogant thing. Could
- 38:58Speaker 1: have also been exactly what God intended.
- 39:00Speaker 3: Yeah, let me and let me give you a very
- 39:01Speaker 3: relevant example for every person listening to this our podcast. Right,
- 39:05Speaker 3: do I want our podcast to grow?
- 39:07Speaker 2: Yes? Of course?
- 39:08Speaker 3: Do you want it to grow. Yes, do we pray
- 39:09Speaker 3: for God's blessing? Of course we do, and do we
- 39:12Speaker 3: do everything we know to do to help it grow. Yes,
- 39:14Speaker 3: But here's the part where you have to constantly keep
- 39:16Speaker 3: it on the altar. And I'll just speak for myself here.
- 39:18Speaker 3: I always have to check myself because I'm a marketer.
- 39:21Speaker 3: G every day I work to hit targets for my clients,
- 39:25Speaker 3: and I'm pretty good at what I do, so I'm
- 39:27Speaker 3: used to living by a number. So what do I do?
- 39:29Speaker 3: I know our metrics, I'm in them every day. And
- 39:32Speaker 3: if it ever becomes the point that I am starting
- 39:34Speaker 3: to go like how do I make this number grow?
- 39:36Speaker 3: Rather than how do I serve the people He's entrusted
- 39:39Speaker 3: us with, I'm wrong. And if I'd be lying to
- 39:41Speaker 3: you if I said I haven't been on the wrong
- 39:43Speaker 3: side at various points where I've had to come back
- 39:45Speaker 3: and be like, Lord, you know what? And what wrong
- 39:47Speaker 3: feels like is it feels like I'm frustrated that we're
- 39:49Speaker 3: not bigger. Like I'm like, man, I feel like what
- 39:51Speaker 3: we're doing is good. I know it's helping people we
- 39:54Speaker 3: should be and it's like, hang on, no, you know
- 39:56Speaker 3: what we should we should play the part that God's
- 39:57Speaker 3: given us to play, which means I need to look
- 39:59Speaker 3: at whoever's listening, whoever's involved in anything, whether it's in
- 40:02Speaker 3: our school community, or in our programs or just someone
- 40:04Speaker 3: that sends us an email. How do I serve this
- 40:06Speaker 3: person and love them the way they need to be
- 40:08Speaker 3: loved and as long and that when that's my focus,
- 40:10Speaker 3: I'm like, you know what, Lord, whatever growth happens, I
- 40:12Speaker 3: know that you're the one that's in control.
- 40:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna be faithful with what God put in my hand,
- 40:15Speaker 1: and I'm gonna do everything I can to do this
- 40:17Speaker 1: for the right reason, and the rest is going to
- 40:19Speaker 1: be up to God. Where people can get stuck sometimes
- 40:22Speaker 1: and it can.
- 40:23Speaker 2: We can.
- 40:23Speaker 1: You can be this way, and podcasts be this way.
- 40:25Speaker 1: In your work, you're thinking, Okay, I'm going to trust
- 40:29Speaker 1: God for a season so I can get what I want,
- 40:33Speaker 1: and the same way that people think, well, I'll work
- 40:36Speaker 1: for a season to have money and then I'll have
- 40:39Speaker 1: financial freedom and I can do what I want to do.
- 40:42Speaker 1: And I you know, we're not going to get into that,
- 40:45Speaker 1: even though we've talked about that as a concept and
- 40:48Speaker 1: not what I think is a great concept on this podcast,
- 40:52Speaker 1: but you could also you could. I think people unintentionally
- 40:55Speaker 1: sometimes do the same thing with God. Yeah, I'll trust
- 40:57Speaker 1: God until I can get what I want. Then I
- 41:00Speaker 1: won't have to rely on him so much.
- 41:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:02Speaker 1: And if that's what's in your heart, and if that's
- 41:05Speaker 1: what you're doing, either consciously or subconsciously, you're not going
- 41:07Speaker 1: in the right direction.
- 41:08Speaker 2: Yeah, very good.
- 41:10Speaker 3: All right, let's so that that's just as if I
- 41:12Speaker 3: think we've let people know how important the artist the
- 41:15Speaker 3: lack of action. You know, this is the cure for
- 41:17Speaker 3: a lack of action if you don't know what you're
- 41:19Speaker 3: supposed to do and you're waiting to hear an answer.
- 41:21Speaker 3: Because we talked about that like that you want to
- 41:23Speaker 3: be the dog that eats You got to get to.
- 41:26Speaker 1: Work well, because people can get stuck in two places
- 41:28Speaker 1: right right, People say like, oh, okay, I've got good got
- 41:32Speaker 1: good inventory of what's in my hand, and I'm doing
- 41:33Speaker 1: all these things, but you know, with what's I don't
- 41:37Speaker 1: know what. I don't know what I'm supposed to do.
- 41:39Speaker 1: I don't know what my dream is. Right, And I
- 41:41Speaker 1: would to those folks, right. I went through a season
- 41:46Speaker 1: in my life Nick where I was telling you about
- 41:49Speaker 1: this where it's happened a couple of times, but I'm
- 41:52Speaker 1: going to refer to one in particular. Right after I
- 41:54Speaker 1: graduated high school. From the time I graduated high school
- 41:57Speaker 1: to the time I went into the Navy, there was
- 42:00Speaker 1: like five or six month season where it wasn't depression.
- 42:05Speaker 1: And I would just say, it was like darkness in
- 42:08Speaker 1: my life. And it wasn't like an evil darkness. It
- 42:11Speaker 1: was just like a cloudy darkness. I was just like
- 42:14Speaker 1: so much desire to do something and I didn't know
- 42:19Speaker 1: what it was I was supposed to do. I was doing.
- 42:21Speaker 1: I was very disciplined in that season. I you know,
- 42:24Speaker 1: spent hours in the gym, read lots of books. I
- 42:27Speaker 1: was doing everything I could to develop myself. I knew
- 42:29Speaker 1: college was not the path for me. That's another story
- 42:33Speaker 1: for another time. I was got very disenfranchised by college.
- 42:37Speaker 3: You were ahead of your time.
- 42:38Speaker 1: Knew I didn't want to go in that direction. I
- 42:40Speaker 1: was like, what is it that I'm supposed to do?
- 42:43Speaker 1: And I threw myself into it. Like one of the
- 42:45Speaker 1: things I've always loved and still loved is piano. I
- 42:48Speaker 1: love piano music. I plan on having a player piano
- 42:52Speaker 1: in my house, so I can it can just play
- 42:53Speaker 1: a piano for me all the time, nice, and I
- 42:57Speaker 1: got really obsessed with piano. I was like, Okay, I'm gonna,
- 43:00Speaker 1: you know, learn piano. And there was a season like
- 43:03Speaker 1: literally for ten twelve hours a day, I'm playing piano
- 43:06Speaker 1: right for until I got to a point that like
- 43:08Speaker 1: I could play very well, and then I was like,
- 43:11Speaker 1: this isn't it right? And I went through multiple things
- 43:15Speaker 1: like that where because I was like, Okay, I'm just
- 43:17Speaker 1: going to try stuff. I'm doing everything I can to
- 43:19Speaker 1: develop myself, and I don't know what I'm supposed to
- 43:22Speaker 1: do right because right never right now, I'm talking about
- 43:24Speaker 1: one of the places that you can get stuck.
- 43:26Speaker 2: And I felt like I had I was.
- 43:28Speaker 1: Doing everything I could with what's in my hand category
- 43:31Speaker 1: and I had a dream to be great, but I
- 43:33Speaker 1: didn't know what I was supposed to do, and people
- 43:35Speaker 1: get stuck in this place. Sometimes I was doing. I
- 43:38Speaker 1: was pursuing the Lord. I had a great relationship with
- 43:40Speaker 1: the Lord. In that season, I was doing everything I could. Yeah,
- 43:44Speaker 1: for about six months, I just went from thing to thing,
- 43:48Speaker 1: and I didn't quit when it got hard. I would
- 43:50Speaker 1: like get a like low level of mastery in this thing,
- 43:53Speaker 1: like I did with piano. I'd get a low level
- 43:54Speaker 1: mastery and they'd be like, Nope, this isn't it. Like
- 43:56Speaker 1: it just I just wasn't feeling it. And so that's
- 43:59Speaker 1: what was so frustrating. I'm like and I'm just screaming
- 44:02Speaker 1: at the sky, like, God, what do you want me
- 44:03Speaker 1: to do? And I was in that season for six months, which,
- 44:07Speaker 1: looking at the context of life, is a short amount
- 44:09Speaker 1: of time. I was in that season for six months.
- 44:12Speaker 1: Fro'm like, I'm doing everything I know to do. God,
- 44:14Speaker 1: I'm seeking you wholeheartedly. I'm developing myself. I want to
- 44:18Speaker 1: do what you put me on there to do. Just
- 44:20Speaker 1: tell me what to do. And for six months I
- 44:22Speaker 1: didn't get an answer. And then one of my nights
- 44:26Speaker 1: I was just up late, like searching for answers. Is
- 44:29Speaker 1: when I saw the YouTube video for buds Class Discovery Channel,
- 44:33Speaker 1: you know Budds Class two thirty four of their Discovery Channel documentary.
- 44:36Speaker 2: Watched the whole thing, and a few months later I
- 44:38Speaker 2: was in the Navy, right.
- 44:39Speaker 1: But I'm saying that is an example of this is
- 44:41Speaker 1: one of the places people get stuck. I was doing
- 44:43Speaker 1: everything I could do with what's in my hand, and
- 44:46Speaker 1: I the only way that it worked was because like
- 44:51Speaker 1: I went and I was seeking God. So I would say,
- 44:53Speaker 1: I don't want to say, it's not like I'm perfect,
- 44:54Speaker 1: but I was saying I was doing everything right in
- 44:56Speaker 1: that season, but I still had to wait.
- 44:58Speaker 3: Yeah, And that's so we're gonna we're going to talk
- 45:00Speaker 3: about the work, because there's three key areas for you
- 45:03Speaker 3: to really get to work, and we will make we
- 45:05Speaker 3: will make the purpose about our work when oftentimes the
- 45:08Speaker 3: work that we're giving you to do leads you to
- 45:10Speaker 3: your purpose. I think it's so interesting John the Baptist, right,
- 45:13Speaker 3: he's known as John the Baptist, but his purpose wasn't
- 45:16Speaker 3: to baptize, right, It was the work he had to
- 45:18Speaker 3: do to know and fulfill his purpose. I think this
- 45:20Speaker 3: is a scripture I love. Is John one thirty one
- 45:22Speaker 3: through thirty four. This is John talking to his disciples
- 45:25Speaker 3: after they're like, hey, you know some of your disciples
- 45:27Speaker 3: has gone, and seeing that Jesus guy that you baptized,
- 45:29Speaker 3: and he says, I myself did not know him, but
- 45:32Speaker 3: the reason I came baptizing with water was that he
- 45:34Speaker 3: might be revealed to Israel. Then John gave this testimony.
- 45:37Speaker 3: I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a
- 45:39Speaker 3: dove and remain on him, And I myself did not
- 45:42Speaker 3: know him, But the one who sent me to baptize
- 45:44Speaker 3: with water told me. This is an insight and how
- 45:46Speaker 3: God gets you to fulfill the purposes and plans for
- 45:47Speaker 3: your life. The man on whom you see the Spirit
- 45:50Speaker 3: come down and remain is the one who will baptize
- 45:52Speaker 3: with the Holy Spirit. I have seen, and I testify
- 45:55Speaker 3: that this is God's chosen one. I think that's a
- 45:58Speaker 3: wonderful thing. God says, Hey, go baptist, Okay, But aren't
- 46:02Speaker 3: I Elijah harn I the voice of the one in
- 46:04Speaker 3: the desert calling prepare the way of the Lord. Yeah,
- 46:06Speaker 3: go baptize, okay, because here's what's gonna happen. You're gonna see.
- 46:10Speaker 3: You're gonna see that the Spirit to send like a
- 46:12Speaker 3: dove on this guy. And that's how you're gonna know.
- 46:14Speaker 2: Okay.
- 46:15Speaker 3: And then, and what a crazy thing that this guy,
- 46:17Speaker 3: who's called the greatest born among men by Jesus then
- 46:19Speaker 3: goes on. It's like, okay, you're gonna beheaded. It feels
- 46:21Speaker 3: like such a meaningless death, except for you realize that
- 46:24Speaker 3: man he played his partner eternity.
- 46:25Speaker 1: Think about the people who were there that day, and
- 46:27Speaker 1: John the Baptist is just like baptizing people like, ah, man,
- 46:30Speaker 1: this is great, Like I'm getting baptized by the crazy guy. Yeah,
- 46:33Speaker 1: but this is awesome. And then John bat and those people,
- 46:37Speaker 1: no one else there had any awareness of what that
- 46:39Speaker 1: day was. And then then he baptized the Jesus and
- 46:42Speaker 1: he's like, hey, everybody, this guy's the Messiah.
- 46:45Speaker 3: He was like what, well, because they thought he was.
- 46:47Speaker 3: You know, they were asking John, are you the one
- 46:49Speaker 3: that we're expecting? And I yeah, there's so much in
- 46:51Speaker 3: that all right, so gee, let's let's uh, let's get
- 46:54Speaker 3: into this. There's three key areas.
- 46:55Speaker 1: Yeah, so there's well, the point is people get stuck
- 46:58Speaker 1: in two places, right, You get stuck in Okay. I
- 47:01Speaker 1: got what's in my hand, and I'm doing everything I
- 47:04Speaker 1: can there, and I just don't know what, you know,
- 47:07Speaker 1: where I'm supposed to what I'm supposed to pursue. I
- 47:09Speaker 1: don't know what my dream is. You're going to move
- 47:11Speaker 1: forward in your purpose when you've got both these things.
- 47:13Speaker 1: What's in my hand and what's in my heart. So
- 47:14Speaker 1: people get stuck there or people say, you know, well,
- 47:17Speaker 1: I've got a dream, this is what I've always wanted
- 47:19Speaker 1: to do, but I don't have the resources that I
- 47:22Speaker 1: need to move forward.
- 47:23Speaker 2: It's not right.
- 47:24Speaker 1: And so we're talking about both stucks because the point
- 47:26Speaker 1: of today is like, how do I move forward in
- 47:28Speaker 1: my purpose? Well, you've got to have both. Got to
- 47:31Speaker 1: have what's in my hand and what's in my heart.
- 47:32Speaker 1: And so whichever one you're you're struggling with, that's what
- 47:35Speaker 1: you've got to work on with the If you're struggling
- 47:38Speaker 1: with what's in my heart, you've got to grow closer
- 47:40Speaker 1: to the Lord and be able to search your heart
- 47:42Speaker 1: and see deep like what is the thing I've always wanted?
- 47:45Speaker 2: And is this righteous?
- 47:47Speaker 1: And when you can do that, you've got the what's
- 47:49Speaker 1: in my That's a hard one, right, and you're you're
- 47:51Speaker 1: going to not be able to really say I've got
- 47:55Speaker 1: the I've got the heart part right until you get
- 47:57Speaker 1: your heart right with the Lord. Okay, let's go to
- 47:59Speaker 1: the other side. Say you've got that right, Cab. I'm
- 48:04Speaker 1: deep in my relationship with God. I really know what
- 48:06Speaker 1: I want my life to be about, but I don't have,
- 48:09Speaker 1: Like you know, I don't have the resources, I don't
- 48:11Speaker 1: have the means, I don't have the skills, I don't
- 48:13Speaker 1: have the whatever to be able to move forward in that.
- 48:16Speaker 1: So let's work on let's talk about the how to
- 48:17Speaker 1: move forward in the what's in your hand?
- 48:19Speaker 2: Category?
- 48:19Speaker 1: Yeah, and I put it really into just a few
- 48:22Speaker 1: different things discipline, self, mastery, and stewardship. Right, and you
- 48:27Speaker 1: can look at them and we'll go through all these things.
- 48:30Speaker 1: But I look at David's life and that's honestly the
- 48:34Speaker 1: summary of it.
- 48:35Speaker 2: Right.
- 48:35Speaker 1: David as a shepherd said, I'm going to be great
- 48:38Speaker 1: with where I'm at. This isn't where I want to be,
- 48:40Speaker 1: but I'm going to be great where I'm at. What
- 48:42Speaker 1: did Joseph do after he was you know, his brothers
- 48:45Speaker 1: try to kill him and he gets sold into slavery
- 48:48Speaker 1: and becomes a slave in Potiphar's home. It says that
- 48:51Speaker 1: Joseph was so excellent that Potiphar worried for nothing. You've
- 48:55Speaker 1: got to take you know what. This isn't where I
- 48:57Speaker 1: want to be, This isn't the season I want to
- 48:58Speaker 1: be in. I see myself doing things so much greater
- 49:01Speaker 1: than where I'm at. I you know, this is where
- 49:03Speaker 1: you just got to have some humility, right, It's it's
- 49:06Speaker 1: it is a hard thing, but it's where you want
- 49:07Speaker 1: to be to have both humility and ambition at the
- 49:10Speaker 1: same time. And I've been here in my life and
- 49:13Speaker 1: I would say there's times where there's many times in
- 49:15Speaker 1: my life where feel this where it's like, man, I
- 49:17Speaker 1: feel like I'm supposed to be doing so much more
- 49:19Speaker 1: than what I'm doing right now, but also have the
- 49:21Speaker 1: humility to be where you're at and be faithful where
- 49:23Speaker 1: you're at, because if this is where God has me,
- 49:26Speaker 1: this is where I'm supposed to be in this season,
- 49:27Speaker 1: and God will move me for I don't I don't
- 49:29Speaker 1: have I don't have to go promote myself. God God
- 49:32Speaker 1: promotes shepherds into kings. So what I got to do
- 49:34Speaker 1: is be great exactly where I'm at. And so what
- 49:37Speaker 1: we're talking about is like these are the things like
- 49:39Speaker 1: if you want to move forward, It's like, man, I
- 49:40Speaker 1: got this dream, I want to do all this stuff,
- 49:42Speaker 1: but you're stuck. I'm what I'm what I'm trying to
- 49:45Speaker 1: do is I'm putting it back on us. I'm putting
- 49:48Speaker 1: it back on you as the listener, I'm putting it
- 49:50Speaker 1: on myself.
- 49:51Speaker 2: To move forward.
- 49:51Speaker 1: If you want to move forward in your purpose, God
- 49:53Speaker 1: is waiting on you. You are not waiting on God.
- 49:56Speaker 1: God is waiting on you.
- 49:57Speaker 2: Now.
- 49:57Speaker 1: Sometimes you're going to go through seasons where it's like, okay,
- 50:00Speaker 1: six months, maybe a couple years of like I'm doing
- 50:03Speaker 1: everything right.
- 50:04Speaker 2: You are.
- 50:05Speaker 1: You are waiting for the appointed time, right, but you
- 50:08Speaker 1: still got to use all of that time. It'll feel
- 50:10Speaker 1: like you're waiting. But all of that preparation has a reason.
- 50:13Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, Gee, there's so much in what you just said.
- 50:16Speaker 3: I think that's one of the hardest. Like if we could,
- 50:18Speaker 3: if we could say where we want everybody to be,
- 50:20Speaker 3: it's that you are actively seeking the Lord, You're in
- 50:23Speaker 3: a close relation with him and you're doing everything you
- 50:25Speaker 3: know to do that. That's when it's like, okay, now
- 50:28Speaker 3: you're living purposely. But here's the caveat and you said it,
- 50:30Speaker 3: there has to still be a trust that God's the
- 50:32Speaker 3: one who brings the promotion because we use I mentioned
- 50:35Speaker 3: David earlier, he had the chance to give himself his
- 50:37Speaker 3: promotion when he could have killed soul. Yeah, and what
- 50:39Speaker 3: he said I think it was abash I says, let
- 50:41Speaker 3: me just drive my spirit through me. It won't take
- 50:42Speaker 3: two hits, that's what he says. Aka, bro, I'll finish
- 50:45Speaker 3: him in one. It'll be quiet and we can get
- 50:46Speaker 3: out of here. And he says, no. He says, whether
- 50:48Speaker 3: by old age, which means David, David in his heart
- 50:51Speaker 3: was waiting, willing to wait until Saul died, he said,
- 50:53Speaker 3: by old age, by war, or by some other means. Aka,
- 50:57Speaker 3: I'm trusting God for the promotion, and so you can
- 50:59Speaker 3: be and all these things right, I'm grown closer to
- 51:01Speaker 3: the Lord. I'm doing everything I know to do, and
- 51:03Speaker 3: yet still the trust has to be that Lord, You're
- 51:05Speaker 3: going to bring it about at the right time. And
- 51:07Speaker 3: that is that is a hard thing to walk out,
- 51:09Speaker 3: but it is a wonderful place to be. That that
- 51:12Speaker 3: is literally purposeful living. And yes, because that's what we
- 51:14Speaker 3: talk about. You can't have your purpose. You got to
- 51:17Speaker 3: live purposefully. And really what we're talking about today is
- 51:20Speaker 3: how to live purposely. You got to live with full
- 51:23Speaker 3: presence of what's in your heart and then also with
- 51:26Speaker 3: full activation of what's in your hands. So let's just
- 51:28Speaker 3: talk about these three things for a second. So this is,
- 51:32Speaker 3: you know, if you've if you're in the second camp
- 51:34Speaker 3: of I've got it in my heart and I'm you know,
- 51:37Speaker 3: maybe I don't have full inventory of what's in my hand.
- 51:40Speaker 1: This is what I would tell you to do. It's discipline,
- 51:42Speaker 1: self mastery, and stewardship. And what is discipline. Discipline is
- 51:46Speaker 1: doing what you know to do. And this is if
- 51:49Speaker 1: there's an area in your life where it's like, man,
- 51:51Speaker 1: I like you, let me put it this way. You're
- 51:54Speaker 1: like begging God, God, please move me forward. But you're
- 51:57Speaker 1: not doing what you already know to do. Yeah, who's
- 52:00Speaker 1: God waiting on He's waiting on you. You're not waiting.
- 52:02Speaker 1: You're not waiting on God. God's waiting on you because
- 52:04Speaker 1: you're not being as disciplined as you could be. And
- 52:07Speaker 1: this does, this really accomplishes two things. It gives us
- 52:09Speaker 1: peace of like so much of it is in God's control,
- 52:13Speaker 1: but also.
- 52:15Speaker 2: We have we actually have.
- 52:17Speaker 1: When you it's kind of full circle. When you get
- 52:19Speaker 1: this understanding of God's sovereignty, you also understand because he's
- 52:22Speaker 1: a good God and he works in an ordered way.
- 52:25Speaker 1: Even though he's sovereign in full control, we actually have
- 52:28Speaker 1: way more influence than we think we do Yeah, he's like,
- 52:31Speaker 1: I'm just waiting on you.
- 52:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:32Speaker 1: If so, You've got to understand if I could, if
- 52:35Speaker 1: I'm just developed myself to where God is, where I'm ready,
- 52:39Speaker 1: then God's going to move me forward.
- 52:41Speaker 3: Because he's doing it for you. I just want to
- 52:43Speaker 3: remind people because sometimes that can make it sound like
- 52:45Speaker 3: God's a task master because that's what we experienced in
- 52:47Speaker 3: our jobs or whoever has you know, been in charge
- 52:50Speaker 3: of whatever we're doing. God's not a task master. He's
- 52:53Speaker 3: always preparing you and it's always for your best good.
- 52:56Speaker 3: So it's not that he's just like, well, if you
- 52:57Speaker 3: do it right, then I'll be good.
- 52:58Speaker 1: It's like, no, I want you to be it'd be
- 53:00Speaker 1: like Elijah, you know, getting mad at you and saying like, well,
- 53:03Speaker 1: why can't you let me just hit off a pitching machine?
- 53:05Speaker 2: Right? You're not ready? Right, that's exactly right? Yeah, very good.
- 53:08Speaker 1: So discipline you've if you are not as disciplined as
- 53:13Speaker 1: you should be, and you know the answer to that,
- 53:14Speaker 1: you don't need me to tell you maybe your wife
- 53:16Speaker 1: tells you. You don't need your wife to tell you, like,
- 53:18Speaker 1: you know, if you could be more disciplined and if
- 53:20Speaker 1: you and if you have that sick feeling of man,
- 53:22Speaker 1: I'm just not where I want to be in my life.
- 53:24Speaker 2: Fix it be disciplined. Yeah, very good.
- 53:27Speaker 1: The second thing is self mastery, and this is different
- 53:30Speaker 1: than discipline in that this is this is like full
- 53:33Speaker 1: development of yourself and your skill sets. And I've been
- 53:38Speaker 1: you can see this, and people who really get onto
- 53:41Speaker 1: their purpose you can see this in the Bible. I
- 53:43Speaker 1: can tell you I've been through this in my own
- 53:45Speaker 1: life where I developed my skills further than I thought,
- 53:48Speaker 1: Like there's no there's no relevancy for me to develop
- 53:50Speaker 1: this skill to this level at this time, right, But
- 53:53Speaker 1: this is these are the skills that God's given me.
- 53:55Speaker 1: This is the abilities that I've that I have.
- 53:58Speaker 2: They can you know, like.
- 53:59Speaker 1: For me, one of those being the ability to communicate
- 54:01Speaker 1: and speak. It's like, well, I've just I'm like, you
- 54:03Speaker 1: know what, I feel like this is supposed to be
- 54:04Speaker 1: a part of my life. You know, it's not like
- 54:07Speaker 1: my primary profession, but this is a part of my life.
- 54:11Speaker 1: I'm just going to develop this as much as I can,
- 54:12Speaker 1: and I still have a long way to go in
- 54:14Speaker 1: that it is because it's such a difficult skill. But
- 54:16Speaker 1: there's been so many skills in my life where I said, Okay,
- 54:18Speaker 1: I'm just gonna I'm going to do this as as
- 54:21Speaker 1: much as I can. I think about for myself just
- 54:25Speaker 1: in the context of equanimity and resiliency. It's something that
- 54:28Speaker 1: I teach. It's something that's spiritual. It's also something that
- 54:31Speaker 1: God's naturally given me. And I could say like, oh,
- 54:34Speaker 1: I've got plenty of that, but I have developed it
- 54:37Speaker 1: to its fullest capacity, and you know what, I've ended
- 54:40Speaker 1: up needing it.
- 54:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 54:41Speaker 3: Yeah, what you're walking through right now, you've been using
- 54:44Speaker 3: it at a very very high.
- 54:45Speaker 1: Level because it's being a Really what that comes down
- 54:49Speaker 1: to is being a good and faithful steward, right, And
- 54:51Speaker 1: it's all these things discipline, self mastery, and stewardship. Stewardship
- 54:55Speaker 1: is understanding. I don't own it. It doesn't belong to me, right.
- 54:59Speaker 1: I look my life in this context of something I
- 55:04Speaker 1: say to young men who because I'm the hope for
- 55:08Speaker 1: any parent who their children play a lot of video games.
- 55:11Speaker 1: I played a lot of video games, and I turned out, okay,
- 55:13Speaker 1: I just did other things too. If video games is
- 55:16Speaker 1: all you do, then we have a problem. One of
- 55:18Speaker 1: the things I say to young men who are gamers,
- 55:21Speaker 1: is I, you know, trying to give them some thought
- 55:24Speaker 1: about their life? Is when you play in a video game,
- 55:28Speaker 1: do you help your character? Like do you help a
- 55:30Speaker 1: max stat like you want him to get to his
- 55:33Speaker 1: best capacity, his fullest capacity.
- 55:36Speaker 2: You make all these decisions.
- 55:37Speaker 1: It's like, because one day I'm going to beat the
- 55:40Speaker 1: final boss, and when I show up to the final boss,
- 55:42Speaker 1: I'm going to have you know the best gear and
- 55:44Speaker 1: I'm going to have the best stats. You make all
- 55:47Speaker 1: these wise decisions to be your best because you're playing
- 55:51Speaker 1: the character not as him, but as someone who knows
- 55:54Speaker 1: what's best for him, right, And this is what you've
- 55:56Speaker 1: got to do for yourself. Very good play like And
- 55:59Speaker 1: that's that's what I'm connecting that to stewardship case. Stewardship
- 56:03Speaker 1: is I don't own it. It doesn't belong to me.
- 56:05Speaker 1: I try to look at my own life that way.
- 56:07Speaker 1: It's not mine. God gave this to me, so use
- 56:10Speaker 1: it just like you would if like your friend gives
- 56:13Speaker 1: you a bunch of money, like you're not going to
- 56:15Speaker 1: waste it the same way you might waste yours. If
- 56:17Speaker 1: you are a good person, how hopefully you are some
- 56:21Speaker 1: people would, but because it's your friend's money, it's like, hey,
- 56:24Speaker 1: you know, here's your money back. I know you told
- 56:26Speaker 1: me to hang onto this five hundred dollars for you,
- 56:28Speaker 1: you know. I all I did was I bought your
- 56:31Speaker 1: son a cheeseburger and we just got this burger and
- 56:34Speaker 1: a small drink. And here's the receipt and here's all
- 56:36Speaker 1: the money that was with that.
- 56:38Speaker 2: Here. Take your stuff back, right, because.
- 56:39Speaker 1: It's not yours. So you're going to be a good
- 56:41Speaker 1: keeper of it. Be this way with your life. Be
- 56:44Speaker 1: a good keeper of who God has made you to
- 56:46Speaker 1: be and of all of the resources that God has
- 56:49Speaker 1: given you. If you can say, like if you're in
- 56:52Speaker 1: this category of stuck where it's like, man, I just
- 56:55Speaker 1: feel like I'm not where God wants me. Like, I
- 56:57Speaker 1: feel like I'm not you know my purpose. I don't
- 56:59Speaker 1: know my purpose is. And I'd really like to be this,
- 57:02Speaker 1: but I'm just kind of like stuck in my life.
- 57:04Speaker 1: But in any of these areas discipline, self mastery, or stewardship,
- 57:07Speaker 1: you could say, man, I could be better. Then that's
- 57:09Speaker 1: what you're waiting on. Yeah, right, So be a better
- 57:11Speaker 1: steward of not of your life, and every resource that
- 57:14Speaker 1: God has given.
- 57:15Speaker 3: You before we wrapped you. I just want to make
- 57:16Speaker 3: one point about max stat because we cover max stat
- 57:19Speaker 3: in the Purpose Playbook, which is available in our school community,
- 57:22Speaker 3: and I know a lot of people had they were
- 57:25Speaker 3: struggling to understand max stat in the way that we're
- 57:28Speaker 3: talking about it, because I think for a lot of
- 57:29Speaker 3: people they'll say, well, that means that I just need
- 57:32Speaker 3: to be one hundred at everything. Like if you're imagining
- 57:34Speaker 3: playing a baseball game, I'm one hundred on throwing them,
- 57:36Speaker 3: a hundred on running them, a hundred on hitting for power,
- 57:38Speaker 3: and one hundred on hitting for oh and also I'm
- 57:39Speaker 3: a hundred on pitching. And like unless your show he Otani,
- 57:43Speaker 3: you are, I mean, he's he's the guy who's actually
- 57:45Speaker 3: broken this, but he had a gift from God to
- 57:47Speaker 3: be able to do both. The point I'm making in
- 57:49Speaker 3: actual life, you're trying to understand that you need to
- 57:52Speaker 3: be max stats on what God has given you the
- 57:55Speaker 3: capacity for. So there's things that you and I spend
- 57:58Speaker 3: zero time improving ourselves on. I'm not trying to I'll
- 58:00Speaker 3: just use a really simple one. I'm never going to
- 58:02Speaker 3: try and be a graphic designer. I'm not gifted at it.
- 58:05Speaker 3: It is just not what God has gifted.
- 58:07Speaker 2: Me to do. Because not the design guy.
- 58:08Speaker 3: I'm not there. I'm not and so I spend no
- 58:10Speaker 3: time doing that. And you might be like, oh, well,
- 58:12Speaker 3: that doesn't really help me in life. This is part
- 58:14Speaker 3: of the skill of knowing of self mastery that ties
- 58:17Speaker 3: into stewardship, because the more you begin to know what
- 58:20Speaker 3: God's put you on the earth for and you start
- 58:21Speaker 3: to say, Okay, here's my natural strengths. And there's things
- 58:23Speaker 3: like Clifton Strengths Finder, which I would recommend everybody to do.
- 58:25Speaker 3: We don't get paid for it, but it will tell
- 58:27Speaker 3: you your top five, your top ten things that you're
- 58:29Speaker 3: really good at. And I think if you the more
- 58:31Speaker 3: you understand that, the more you go, Okay, let's lean
- 58:34Speaker 3: into those and max stat my top five and in
- 58:37Speaker 3: my bottom five, I'm going to hire those out. I'm
- 58:39Speaker 3: going to find other people who are who are great
- 58:42Speaker 3: partners or people that I want to be aligned with,
- 58:45Speaker 3: because together, it's it's God math. It's five plus five
- 58:48Speaker 3: equals fifteen, and that's that's where you start to That's
- 58:51Speaker 3: that is actual max stating your life. And I want
- 58:53Speaker 3: to say it because I don't want people to think
- 58:54Speaker 3: that we're like, you need to be great at everything.
- 58:56Speaker 3: That's not what we're saying. We're saying, take your strengths,
- 58:59Speaker 3: and take your strengths to the absolute extreme. And then
- 59:01Speaker 3: the things that you know you're weak at, and by
- 59:03Speaker 3: the way, you're not allowed to be weak at, like
- 59:05Speaker 3: love and forgiveness, that those are not those are not
- 59:07Speaker 3: strengths and weak my strength. Yeah, yeah, my strength is
- 59:10Speaker 3: not is not people. So I'm just gonna treat everybody horribly. No,
- 59:12Speaker 3: we're talking about actual like abilities and skill sets when
- 59:15Speaker 3: we're talking about that. That's what we mean when we
- 59:17Speaker 3: say max stat So I just want to make sure
- 59:19Speaker 3: I caveat that g because we had a lot of
- 59:20Speaker 3: questions on that when we did purpose playbook.
- 59:22Speaker 1: I just want to remind everyone as we wrap up,
- 59:25Speaker 1: you can be in a season where, just like I
- 59:28Speaker 1: was for I was doing everything that I was supposed
- 59:31Speaker 1: to do, and I was still like, God, will God
- 59:34Speaker 1: show me, God open a door? But I was doing
- 59:37Speaker 1: everything I could with what was in my hand, and
- 59:39Speaker 1: I had a dream just to be great. Didn't know
- 59:42Speaker 1: exactly what I was supposed to do, and even then
- 59:44Speaker 1: it took months for God to show me. But what
- 59:47Speaker 1: I what I did know at that point was I'm
- 59:50Speaker 1: doing what I'm doing all I can do. And what
- 59:54Speaker 1: you are always have the ability to do is get
- 59:56Speaker 1: out of the sick feeling of man. I just feel
- 59:59Speaker 1: like there's more for me. And that's exactly who we
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: speak to on this podcast. People who want everything that
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: God has for them, that know that God created you
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: for a great purpose, that God created you for a reason.
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: God is a great plan for your life. That's who
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: we're speaking to. And what we talked about today is
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: that you can get to this place at any time
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: where not that like, oh there it is like God
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: wrote it down, this is the purpose of my life.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: But at any time, you can get to a place
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: where you know that you're doing everything that God called
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: you to do. So be faithful with what God's put
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: in your hand, have a deep relationship with the Lord
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: that you can test your dream, that you can talk
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: to God and say, God, is this righteous? Is this
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: what You've called me to do? That you can get
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: on your knees every morning, and when you're doing both
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: of these things, when you have full possession of what's
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: in your heart and you have full possession of what's
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: in your hand, then you are fully authorized to go
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: out and do everything God puts you on the earth
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: to do.
