- 0:00Speaker 1: Speaking of Texas, that's a good transition. We are presented
- 0:02Speaker 1: by PrizePix. Let's talk a little bit about the Longhorns
- 0:05Speaker 1: winning over Ole Miss. Cole, does this mean that Texas
- 0:08Speaker 1: is back?
- 0:10Speaker 2: Oh, no, no, no, no. We are not going to
- 0:12Speaker 2: say those words. Joe Tessitore?
- 0:14Speaker 3: Yeah, give me a break.
- 0:15Speaker 2: No, I still do this day. Let me explain. Because
- 0:17Speaker 2: of Joe Tessitore in 2016 for the Notre Dame game
- 0:22Speaker 2: and because of Sam Ellinger in 2018 when they won
- 0:25Speaker 2: the Sugar Bowl over Georgia, I have said I wouldn't
- 0:28Speaker 2: even say the word B-A-C-K. I will spell it out
- 0:31Speaker 2: until they win a national title because that is when
- 0:33Speaker 2: Texas is actually B-A-C-K. But in terms of being back
- 0:37Speaker 2: in the college football playoff hunt, Yeah, kind of. I mean,
- 0:40Speaker 2: they got to win on out. They can't afford another loss.
- 0:43Speaker 2: But here's the one thing I will say. If you
- 0:45Speaker 2: are putting a 9-3 team in this year, Texas is
- 0:47Speaker 2: going to have a damn good resume. They have three
- 0:49Speaker 2: of the best wins in college football. Even if they
- 0:51Speaker 2: were to lose to, say, a Mizzou, if they go
- 0:53Speaker 2: on the road to Death Valley and beat LSU for
- 0:56Speaker 2: the best wins in college football this year, they're going
- 0:58Speaker 2: to have a case. They are.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't have a problem with that. I think
- 1:03Speaker 1: especially when you look at the chaos that's going on,
- 1:06Speaker 1: we'll get to the big 12 here in a few minutes,
- 1:08Speaker 1: but you were thinking there was a chance that multiple
- 1:11Speaker 1: big 12 teams could go to the playoff, which I
- 1:12Speaker 1: still do think multiple can. I just don't know that
- 1:15Speaker 1: three can anymore. Um, so, you know, when you were
- 1:18Speaker 1: thinking that they might be taking up some spots, when
- 1:21Speaker 1: you were thinking that, um, Man, other teams might be
- 1:24Speaker 1: coming and stealing things. Now, I mean, there is... And
- 1:27Speaker 1: Cole did a phenomenal job of this, but breaking down
- 1:30Speaker 1: the ultimate chaos scenario for the playoff with everybody in
- 1:35Speaker 1: the SEC finishing 10-2, everybody in the Big Ten having
- 1:37Speaker 1: one loss, everybody in the ACC, Big 12 had some
- 1:41Speaker 1: craziness in it too. What does the committee do? There's
- 1:44Speaker 1: also the very real possibility that this thing shakes itself
- 1:48Speaker 1: out really, really well, and we kind of can clearly
- 1:50Speaker 1: just say... okay, those 10 teams are in there's your
- 1:53Speaker 1: group of five team. Let's all fight like hell about
- 1:56Speaker 1: who gets to be the 11 seed and make 17
- 1:59Speaker 1: shows and videos about it. And everybody be outraged about
- 2:02Speaker 1: number 11. If I had to guess, that's probably closer
- 2:06Speaker 1: to what's going to happen because a lot of these
- 2:08Speaker 1: teams play each other from Texas and LSU and LSU
- 2:11Speaker 1: in Tennessee, Florida and Georgia from Alabama and Auburn. Auburn's
- 2:15Speaker 1: probably out of it right at this point with the
- 2:16Speaker 1: third loss, but there's so much with, with what will
- 2:19Speaker 1: happen with, through the rest of this year. So anyway,
- 2:23Speaker 1: on Texas specifically, the, the, I mean, it felt like
- 2:28Speaker 1: shades of the last two weeks with a two score
- 2:31Speaker 1: or the three score lead and Ole Miss coming all
- 2:34Speaker 1: the way back. It was, it was pretty crazy to
- 2:38Speaker 1: hear it or to watch it play out. And you really,
- 2:41Speaker 1: I mean, I, you thought Ole Miss was going to
- 2:42Speaker 1: win at that point once they tied it up, Cole.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, how could you not at that point?
- 2:47Speaker 2: And honestly, I got a lot of pushback for saying
- 2:50Speaker 2: that Sark would be fired after losing this game. I
- 2:53Speaker 2: don't know how you can keep a guy who's blown
- 2:55Speaker 2: a 21 point lead with that type of mentality and
- 2:58Speaker 2: think that you're going to survive. Like, I don't know.
- 3:00Speaker 2: But the bottom line is you don't have to worry
- 3:01Speaker 2: about that because you found a way to win. Now,
- 3:04Speaker 2: here's the big thing I think that we can all
- 3:05Speaker 2: take away. There were moments in that first half, watching
- 3:08Speaker 2: as you shut down Trinidad Chambers, you made him be
- 3:10Speaker 2: erratic with some of his throwing motions, the way you
- 3:12Speaker 2: played in coverage, the way that you responded and got
- 3:15Speaker 2: pressure in the backfield, took away the running game of
- 3:17Speaker 2: Kiwan Lacy without Colin Simmons out there, and how Arch
- 3:21Speaker 2: looked with some of his really nice discerning throws, the
- 3:24Speaker 2: run blocking stepping on up, even after losing Trevor Goosby
- 3:28Speaker 2: and having Kojo step on up at the left tackle spot.
- 3:30Speaker 2: It felt like that's the version of Texas that we
- 3:33Speaker 2: have just been waiting to unravel and finally make its appearance.
- 3:37Speaker 2: And that's something you can say, the talent's been there.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Because Arch with the opening script, he was decisive, making
- 3:42Speaker 2: the right reads, wasn't flinching. He had several really, really,
- 3:46Speaker 2: really impressive throws that were on the money. Cam Coleman
- 3:48Speaker 2: should have never dropped that easy walk-in touchdown play. But
- 3:52Speaker 2: you make up for it with a couple of big
- 3:53Speaker 2: Ryan Wingo throws. The run game getting off and just
- 3:56Speaker 2: taking the chunks out of Ole Miss' defense was phenomenal.
- 4:00Speaker 2: And that's something where you look at and go, this
- 4:03Speaker 2: version of Texas is one that we thought could win
- 4:07Speaker 2: a national title. But then came the third quarter. And
- 4:11Speaker 2: here is my fear. Texas is the single worst team
- 4:13Speaker 2: in college football in the third quarter. Since week one,
- 4:16Speaker 2: they have not scored a touchdown. I believe they've only
- 4:17Speaker 2: scored three points and it came in the game against
- 4:19Speaker 2: Tennessee in week four.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Quick break from the video. Want to let you know
- 4:23Speaker 1: this video is brought to you by PrizePix. They just
- 4:27Speaker 1: launched PrizePix packs. I've been trying to tell you guys

- 4:57Speaker 1: Go check out price picks packs.
- 4:59Speaker 2: They are terrible in the third quarter and slowly, but
- 5:02Speaker 2: surely you say to yourself internally, there's no way that
- 5:05Speaker 2: they're going to let them do it again. It's too
- 5:07Speaker 2: big of a lead. And then here comes a Cam
- 5:08Speaker 2: Franklin sack and it's a strip and it leads to
- 5:11Speaker 2: you getting the, I mean, here comes the Cam Franklin
- 5:13Speaker 2: fumble recovery in the end zone. So it's a touchdown.
- 5:15Speaker 2: That's three and out. Then you get the offense going
- 5:17Speaker 2: downfield and you have some really dumb penalties, fair or unfair,
- 5:20Speaker 2: ticky tacky or not. You see that guy and I
- 5:23Speaker 2: don't know what his name is. I got to figure
- 5:24Speaker 2: it out. When you see him, he's got like that
- 5:27Speaker 2: really like stirred face of like a 1980s detention principal.
- 5:31Speaker 2: You know, that blocks are flying that night. Like, like
- 5:34Speaker 2: you just got to realize that. So yeah, You go
- 5:36Speaker 2: ahead and give it the Horatio Fields touchdown, and you're like, okay, well,
- 5:38Speaker 2: now it's a game. Well, there's no way that you
- 5:39Speaker 2: can go ahead and make that big a mistake. Oh, no,
- 5:41Speaker 2: but you can, because here comes Arch Manning with a, hey,
- 5:45Speaker 2: don't worry about it. Oh, you don't have to make
- 5:47Speaker 2: a play. No, I'm just going to throw it downfield. Oh,
- 5:49Speaker 2: Antonio Kite, right there for the arm putt. Thank you.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Penalty on McDonald. Horatio Fields for another touchdown, and it's 24-24,
- 5:56Speaker 2: and you're like, here we go again. This is the offense.
- 5:59Speaker 2: And then Texas' run game steps on up. And for
- 6:02Speaker 2: some reason, Ole Miss' run defense just somehow completely falters.
- 6:06Speaker 2: And you get a couple of really big plays from
- 6:07Speaker 2: Malik Brown, who stepped on up in place of Hollywood Smothers.
- 6:10Speaker 2: And you're able to force a big-time stop on Traynette Chambliss.
- 6:13Speaker 2: And then you go ahead and get an extra field goal.
- 6:15Speaker 2: So now it's a 10-point swing. And then for some
- 6:17Speaker 2: dumb reason, you have Pete Golding hitting a field goal
- 6:20Speaker 2: that's 58 yards out instead of trying to punt it
- 6:22Speaker 2: and make him go really deep back in the end zone.
- 6:25Speaker 2: And you saw what happened out of it. And it's like, okay, well,
- 6:27Speaker 2: here comes Texas, and they'll be fine. And then you
- 6:30Speaker 2: have the special teams air again. And it's like, Oh
- 6:33Speaker 2: my God, how does this keep happening? How does this
- 6:35Speaker 2: keep happening?
- 6:36Speaker 1: Have you ever seen a team give up two onside
- 6:39Speaker 1: kicks within four weeks? No, it's like, that's insane to
- 6:43Speaker 1: think about. Like, I don't even really remember too many times,
- 6:46Speaker 1: like twice in one season, but I also say like,
- 6:49Speaker 1: I haven't watched every scene, you know, for an entirety
- 6:52Speaker 1: of my life, like every single game for people. two
- 6:55Speaker 1: onsite kicks in one year. It's kind of like, and
- 6:57Speaker 1: we'll get to Miami in a little bit, but like,
- 6:58Speaker 1: it's kind of like Miami giving up like hail Mary's
- 7:00Speaker 1: like three times in a row between FSU and pit
- 7:03Speaker 1: at the end of that game. And then halftime of
- 7:05Speaker 1: their game. And it's just like, how do you like,
- 7:09Speaker 1: do you practice the onsite kick recovery? Like, well, what
- 7:12Speaker 1: do you do there at Texas? But ultimately they came
- 7:15Speaker 1: out on top.
- 7:16Speaker 2: So I don't know.
- 7:17Speaker 1: I guess you got to give them enough credit for that.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Tom thoughts on a Texas.
- 7:22Speaker 3: I thought, Arch had a decent first half and then
- 7:26Speaker 3: things got a little bit clunky in the second half.
- 7:28Speaker 3: Like you, you continue to see the high end capability.
- 7:30Speaker 3: You continue to see the low end capability. You saw
- 7:34Speaker 3: the running game step up in a situation against Ole
- 7:36Speaker 3: Miss where, Hey, Texas was maybe going to be able
- 7:39Speaker 3: to run the football against this team. And it seems
- 7:41Speaker 3: kind of. hit or miss, whether or not this Ole
- 7:44Speaker 3: Miss defensive line is really going to step up and
- 7:47Speaker 3: do something significant defensively within a game, and they didn't
- 7:50Speaker 3: in this one. Echols was largely ineffective. They did a
- 7:53Speaker 3: nice job taking him out of the game and running
- 7:56Speaker 3: through him for the most part of the game, but
- 7:58Speaker 3: Texas' running backs really took a lot of pressure off
- 8:01Speaker 3: of Arch. He still finished the game with two interceptions,
- 8:04Speaker 3: so I don't know. I walked away from this thinking
- 8:07Speaker 3: this was the best half of football Arch Mannings played
- 8:11Speaker 3: In his time as Texas, and it's like, can you
- 8:14Speaker 3: make this happen for four quarters? It doesn't have to
- 8:17Speaker 3: be the high-end ability. It just has to be consistency
- 8:19Speaker 3: for the large part. And then I look at what
- 8:22Speaker 3: Ole Miss was doing up against Texas defense. A lot
- 8:25Speaker 3: of credit to Muschamp and company. They found answers to
- 8:27Speaker 3: get pressure despite not having Colin Simmons in this game.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Very impressive. This is an all-time defense. I was texting
- 8:34Speaker 3: you guys about this. This is an all-time defense. And
- 8:37Speaker 3: it might get wasted by a not all-time offense, unfortunately.
- 8:42Speaker 3: But Texas was able to do enough in this department.
- 8:45Speaker 3: I give credit to Ole Miss in that you still
- 8:49Speaker 3: gave the ball to Trinidad Chambliss, what, 52 pass attempts
- 8:52Speaker 3: and then five registered rushing attempts in this game? So
- 8:56Speaker 3: you're still making sure that your number one player is
- 9:00Speaker 3: affecting the football at any given time. But Texas just
- 9:03Speaker 3: did enough to limit him in this game. When it's
- 9:05Speaker 3: 50% completion percentage, and you bottle them up in the
- 9:08Speaker 3: run game, that's exactly what you have to do against
- 9:10Speaker 3: Ole Miss because they don't have the offensive line that's
- 9:14Speaker 3: just going to mow you down. They don't have the
- 9:16Speaker 3: pass catchers that are going to kill you in space.
- 9:18Speaker 3: They have Trinidad Chambliss, and he can beat you more
- 9:21Speaker 3: often than not. But credit to Texas, the way that
- 9:24Speaker 3: they were able to just pull this thing out in
- 9:26Speaker 3: the end because Arch Manning was good but not great,
- 9:30Speaker 3: and they just picked up the right explosives at the
- 9:32Speaker 3: right times to take care of this thing, and that
- 9:35Speaker 3: defense is out of this world.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Right.
- 9:37Speaker 3: It's the Longhorns.
- 9:39Speaker 2: And the other thing, just real fast, they did it shorthanded.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Trevor Grisby out for the game. Cam Coleman out for
- 9:44Speaker 2: the entire second half.
- 9:46Speaker 3: You lose.
- 9:46Speaker 2: You don't have Colin Simmons in this game. No Hollywood Smothers.
- 9:49Speaker 2: I'm not going to blame injuries. And I definitely would
- 9:52Speaker 2: not when you blow a 21 point lead. But when
- 9:54Speaker 2: you do it without four of your key assets, it's impressive.
- 9:57Speaker 3: It is.
