- 0:00Welcome back to Fostering Faith. I'm going to
- 0:02be your host Tracy and we are in the month of
- 0:05June. And so it is the month of wisdom and we
- 0:07are in the book of Proverbs. And so wisdom for
- 0:10your future is the episode that we're going to
- 0:11be talking about today. And there is truth woven
- 0:14all throughout Proverbs and it's like this. Your
- 0:17future is not built in your future. It builds
- 0:21in the directions and decisions today. And so
- 0:24many people think destiny is something that just
- 0:26happens. One day you wake up and magically you
- 0:30become a person that God designed. But scripture
- 0:33teaches us the opposite. Wisdom today shapes
- 0:35blessings tomorrow. Discipline today shapes freedom
- 0:38tomorrow. And boundaries today shape your peace
- 0:41tomorrow. And so wise choices today shape strong
- 0:44relationships tomorrow. And obedience today shapes
- 0:47purpose tomorrow. Future isn't mysterious. It's
- 0:51formed. And God cares about your future so much
- 0:54that He gave you an entire book. called Proverbs,
- 0:57filled with warning signs, guardrails, promises,
- 1:00and principles to keep your life aligned with
- 1:03His best. Not your best, but His best. In this
- 1:07final episode of June, I want to talk about everything
- 1:10that we've learned, wisdom, decisions, friendship,
- 1:12speech, throughout life and pointing it forward.
- 1:16Because God has a future for you, but wisdom
- 1:18is how you walk in it. And so God has a plan
- 1:21for your future, but You have a part to do, too.
- 1:25And so our verse of the year is Jeremiah 29 11.
- 1:28I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper
- 1:30you, not to harm you, plans to give you a hope
- 1:33in the future. God is good. God's plan is intentional.
- 1:38God's plan is protective and God's plan is purposeful.
- 1:42But Proverbs teaches us again. And so our choices
- 1:45can align with God's plan or fight against it.
- 1:49God doesn't force wisdom. You choose it. Your
- 1:52future is built through obedience, character,
- 1:55humility, teachability, integrity, stewardship,
- 2:00discernment, courage. People pray for God to
- 2:04open up doors, but God cares that you live and
- 2:07have wisdom to walk through them. And so the
- 2:10future belongs to the wise and not the careless.
- 2:13Proverbs paints two paths, the wise path that
- 2:16we've talked about before, stable, peaceful,
- 2:19and blessed. This path is walked by people who
- 2:23think long -term, value self -control, reject
- 2:27foolishness, keep God first, build strong habits,
- 2:32stay humble, stay teachable, walk in integrity,
- 2:36and take counsel seriously, and steward every
- 2:40opportunity. Proverbs 3, 5 through 6 says, trust
- 2:43in the Lord with all your heart. all your ways
- 2:47acknowledge Him, and He will make your path straight.
- 2:51Wisdom straightens out your life. That would
- 2:54be crooked. And so the foolish path is that real
- 2:58wide road that we've talked about before. It's
- 3:00chaotic, it's painful, and it's unsainable. This
- 3:04path is walked by people who follow their emotions,
- 3:07ignore warning signs, refuse correction, chase
- 3:11shortcuts, blame others, avoid discipline, and
- 3:14lack consistency. Proverbs is clear. The wise
- 3:18inherit honor, but fools get disgraced. In Proverbs
- 3:233 .35, foolishness steals futures, but wisdom
- 3:26secures them. And the future is built on the
- 3:29habits you practice now. Your life is moving
- 3:32in the direction of your daily habits, not your
- 3:34dreams, not your intentions, not your potential,
- 3:38not your prayers, though prayer fuels it. Your
- 3:43habits do. If you want wisdom for your future,
- 3:48begin with daily wisdom rhythms by reading your
- 3:52scripture, choosing wise influences, guarding
- 3:55your heart, practicing gratitude, speaking life,
- 3:58listening to godly counsel, obeying quickly and
- 4:01praying consistently, avoiding places of temptation
- 4:05and protecting your time. Habits shape your character
- 4:09and character shapes your destiny. And so wisdom
- 4:12leads you to the right people and places and
- 4:15purposes. A wise life is never accidental. When
- 4:19you walk in wisdom, God directs your steps. He
- 4:22aligns your opportunities. He highlights the
- 4:25right people. He closes doors that would harm
- 4:28you. He protects you from the wrong environments.
- 4:31He brings you mentors, strengthens your calling,
- 4:34and connects you to your purpose. Proverbs 16,
- 4:389 says, establishes their steps. Wisdom puts
- 4:44you in the path where God can establish your
- 4:48steps. The future becomes clear whenever you
- 4:51know what you avoid. Proverb isn't just full
- 4:54of do this, it's full of don't do that. Wisdom
- 4:58requires courage to avoid unhealthy relationships,
- 5:02foolish environments, tempting situations, gossip
- 5:05circles, financial foolishness, prideful mindsets,
- 5:08shortcuts that bypass character, emotional reactions,
- 5:12laziness and compromise. Your future is protected
- 5:15by the things that you walk away from, not just
- 5:18as much as the things that you walk into. Your
- 5:21future needs the wise you, not the impulsive
- 5:25you. Everyone has two versions of themselves,
- 5:29the wise version and the impulsive version. The
- 5:33wise version is patient, prayerful, steady, humble.
- 5:38built on word, guided by the spirit, slow to
- 5:40speak, and quick to listen. The impulsive version
- 5:45is emotional, reactive, inconsistent, unfiltered,
- 5:48easily influenced, and easily discouraged. Your
- 5:51future flourishes when the whys lead you. And
- 5:56the future requires humility and teachability.
- 6:00And we've said this over and over again. The
- 6:02only pie that I want you to eat is the pie, a
- 6:05humble pie. So humility and teachability in Proverbs
- 6:0912 -15, the way the fool seems right to them,
- 6:12but the wise listen to their advice. Fools want
- 6:14to be right and the wise want to grow. Fools
- 6:17protect their ego and the wise protect their
- 6:20future. Teachability is one of the most powerful
- 6:23forms of wisdom. When you let mentors pass your
- 6:26scripture and the Holy Spirit correct you, you
- 6:29become unstoppable. So the future requires you
- 6:33to be humble and teachable. Are you humble? Are
- 6:37you teachable? Those are things that you need
- 6:39to take God. Hey, am I teachable? Am I easily
- 6:42to correct or am I on guard? Do I have humility?
- 6:47Take that to Him. He will ask you. Ask Him anything.
- 6:50He knows what's in your heart. He knows what
- 6:52you're trying to hide. Wisdom makes you someone
- 6:55God can trust with more. God multiplies what
- 6:59you steward wisely. Wisdom leads to promotion,
- 7:03leads to influence. leads to ministry opportunities,
- 7:06healthy relationships, leadership, doors opening.
- 7:10It leads to competence and stability. People
- 7:14pray for more, but God gives more to people who
- 7:17can handle it wisely, little wisely. And so I
- 7:20often tell the kids, and so God cannot trust
- 7:23you with more if you can't handle little. He's
- 7:26not going to give you much if you're not being
- 7:29a good steward over what he's given you. And
- 7:31so if you have little podcast and you don't put
- 7:35any time and effort into it and doing all the
- 7:36things. Why would he give you a large platform?
- 7:38No. Why would he give you an auditorium full
- 7:41of people if you can't counsel the two that show
- 7:45up to class? So you're going to, you have to
- 7:49be wise of what he's given you. And so Proverbs
- 7:5222 and 29 says, Do you see someone skilled in
- 7:56their work? They will stand before kings. Wisdom
- 8:00elevates you without self -promotion. He's your
- 8:04best PR. He knows what you can handle. He knows
- 8:06what you can't. And so I pray, absolutely, do
- 8:10I want this podcast to grow? Do I want it to
- 8:12flourish? But then again, do I want to have to
- 8:16answer and do all the things required yet? Am
- 8:20I there yet? Am I in that maturity level? Am
- 8:22I at that spiritual level? Do I have that capacity
- 8:24with work and being a mom and being a wife? Do
- 8:27I have that capacity on my note? Absolutely not.
- 8:29He's going to have to make a way for me to be
- 8:31able to handle all the things that he would want
- 8:33me to do. And we are just walking in obedience
- 8:35and doing what we feel like we're supposed to
- 8:38be doing. And so are we preaching and teaching
- 8:41millions of people? No. Has he given us tens
- 8:44of hundreds of thousands of people that listen
- 8:46and listen to our prayers and stuff like that?
- 8:48Yes, he does, but it's what I can handle and
- 8:52so he's only gonna give me what I can handle.
- 8:54He's not gonna put a hundred people on my schedule
- 8:56every day. I can't see that many people, but
- 8:59he can give me 30 and I can be a great steward
- 9:01to those 30 people, those 20 people, those 25
- 9:03people, those 8, those 10, whatever he does.
- 9:05He can give me the kids in my classroom that
- 9:07I can handle. He's gonna give me whatever I need,
- 9:10the money, the finances, because he knows that
- 9:12he can trust me. with what he's given me so far.
- 9:15So let me give her a little bit. Let me give
- 9:16them a little bit more, a little bit more, because
- 9:17he knows what he's taught us. He knows what he
- 9:20has planned for us. And so until we get that
- 9:22lesson right, until we are having that teachability
- 9:24moment, until we're humble, until we know that,
- 9:27oh, yes, absolutely. This is how I would steward
- 9:29this. This is how I would do this. He's not going
- 9:31to give you much if you're not doing good with
- 9:34the little that you already have. And so we hope
- 9:36that you guys are aligning with these workbooks
- 9:38on our Fostering Faith Media website. And so
- 9:40as we go into this year, we thought that would
- 9:43be a great extension off and so we guys can print
- 9:45things out. I know that people love to write
- 9:47and keep things to look back on. And so just
- 9:50reflection questions and going through the workbooks
- 9:52together. And so what is the area in my future
- 9:55do I need God's wisdom in right now? And so,
- 9:58what are the areas? Is it friendships? Is it
- 10:00relationships? Is it school decisions? Is it
- 10:03career direction? Is it your calling? Is it your
- 10:05spiritual growth? Is it boundaries? Is it emotional
- 10:08health? Is it your long -term goals? Sit with
- 10:11God and let Him teach you what you are needing.
- 10:16And if it's all those areas, write them all down.
- 10:18Take them to God. There's nothing that He cannot
- 10:19handle. There's not a big list or a small list.
- 10:22If it's just one, great. If it's your finances,
- 10:24are you tithing? Are you walking in the calling
- 10:26that He has you in? Where are you at with your
- 10:29spiritual growth? What area do you need God's
- 10:31wisdom in right now? I would take all those.
- 10:34I would take, I need wisdom in every one of those.
- 10:38And so sitting with Him and asking Him those
- 10:39questions, there's nothing, there's no question
- 10:41that is salate to God. And so what one future
- 10:45-focused decision will you make this week in
- 10:48wisdom, something that your future self will
- 10:51thank you for? Is it to begin a discipline? Is
- 10:54it to end in habit? Is it to set a boundary?
- 10:58To create a budget? Establish a Bible routine?
- 11:02Is it to commit to a godly friendship? Is it
- 11:05to say no to distraction? Is it to start a long
- 11:09-term plan? Is it to remove yourself from toxic
- 11:12relationships or influences? And so wisdom is
- 11:15an investment that always pays dividends. And
- 11:20so think about that this week. What are the areas
- 11:22before we go into the month of July? And as we
- 11:25go into the month of July, as it is my husband's
- 11:28favorite month, it is his birth month, but it
- 11:30is his favorite holiday, which is 4th of July.
- 11:32And so we are talking about freedom and healing.
- 11:35And so we hope that you guys tune in next month
- 11:37as we are going to be walking in freedom and
- 11:40healing. for the month of July. And so as we
- 11:43end this week and end this month, we would love
- 11:44to pray for you guys. If this message inspired
- 11:47you, encouraged you, share it with a friend,
- 11:49share it on social media, write a comment, help
- 11:51our podcast grow, and allow God to work in our
- 11:55lives together as we foster our faith together.
- 11:57So we would love to pray for you. Dear Heavenly
- 11:59Father, thank you so much for wisdom. Thank you
- 12:01so much for our future. Thank you so much for

- 12:30you guys. Stay tuned for July in freedom and
