- 0:13Speaker 2: Hey chicks, I'm out and I'm sal and this is
- 0:15Speaker 2: two rote Chicks, the show that shares life lessons to
- 0:17Speaker 2: give you tips to be rich in life.
- 0:20Speaker 3: That's not it, but we'll run with it, chicks, No
- 0:23Speaker 3: where you are.
- 0:25Speaker 2: I started, I started like listening to my voice, and
- 0:28Speaker 2: I was like, am I my boy?
- 0:29Speaker 3: I was going to say, your voice was sounding a
- 0:30Speaker 3: bit sexy.
- 0:32Speaker 4: Recording our audio book this week from like tomorrow.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Anyway, anyway, today we have the best year of the show.
- 0:39Speaker 4: I'm so excited that you're back.
- 0:41Speaker 5: Maddie McCrae. Welcomes, Hi, cheecks, how are you?
- 0:45Speaker 3: Thanks for coming back?
- 0:47Speaker 6: No, never, I love you guys.
- 0:49Speaker 4: That is the best I message. And I was like,
- 0:51Speaker 4: we need to guess today.
- 0:52Speaker 6: Did you come in?
- 0:53Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 0:53Speaker 6: I was already here. I was recording my plot this morning.
- 0:56Speaker 6: So yeah, so I just went and had some lunch
- 0:57Speaker 6: and then came back. I'm coming. I love you.
- 1:02Speaker 5: Divine intervention exactly and on the theme.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Because today we're talking zero dollar antidotes for a shitty day,
- 1:11Speaker 2: because I think we all have capacity to like write
- 1:14Speaker 2: off day when like something one either minor inconvenience happens
- 1:19Speaker 2: or one major inconvenience happens, and we're like, oh, today
- 1:22Speaker 2: just sucks it. And it's okay to like have those moments,
- 1:25Speaker 2: but it's good to put in the effort to turn
- 1:27Speaker 2: it around a little bit. So we're going to discuss
- 1:30Speaker 2: our favorite things to do. But before we start, we
- 1:33Speaker 2: have our life lesson of the week.
- 1:35Speaker 4: I have a fucking do.
- 1:38Speaker 6: What is it bad?
- 1:41Speaker 2: My phone didn't work this weekend because I would have
- 1:45Speaker 2: told you about it already, but I'm glad I kept
- 1:46Speaker 2: it under racts. So I was at my boyfriend's parents'
- 1:50Speaker 2: house this weekend and we stayed over, and they just
- 1:53Speaker 2: are like the most wonderful, wholesome family ever.
- 1:56Speaker 5: Like it's just they all love each other and hang
- 1:58Speaker 5: out and I love it.
- 1:59Speaker 4: I'm like I'm part of it too.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Anyway, we went out that night with some of my
- 2:04Speaker 2: partner's mates, and so the next morning everyone was kind
- 2:07Speaker 2: of like, like, ROB was a bit sleepy and they're
- 2:10Speaker 2: kind of like a sleeping family, and I need to
- 2:11Speaker 2: go to the bathroom. I was like, oh, I think
- 2:13Speaker 2: I've got my period. So I went to the bathroom
- 2:16Speaker 2: and like the first day of my period is like omageddon.
- 2:19Speaker 6: Yes, She's like, yeah.
- 2:21Speaker 2: The road, I swear I have like fifty percent of
- 2:25Speaker 2: my period in the first day. And in the next
- 2:27Speaker 2: four days it's just like so and I'm like, just
- 2:35Speaker 2: fuck off. And then I just gas light her into
- 2:37Speaker 2: leave and she's like, oh okay, but anyway, so I
- 2:40Speaker 2: was like Jesus Christ, and I've cleaned myself up and
- 2:45Speaker 2: I've done it all and I have to use I
- 2:46Speaker 2: end up using like a whole bloody roller toilet paper.
- 2:48Speaker 2: That's an embellishment, but you know what I mean. And
- 2:50Speaker 2: then I flashed the toilets out. I flashed the toilet, Maddie.
- 2:55Speaker 2: I guess what doesn't flush the toilet. I've blocked the
- 2:59Speaker 2: toy toilet at my boyfriend's parents' house with blood. With
- 3:04Speaker 2: blood I would have rather ship because then I could
- 3:08Speaker 2: have blamed it on Rob. But it looks like I
- 3:13Speaker 2: have done a Satanic ritual in this toilet.
- 3:16Speaker 7: It's murderer on the pilet.
- 3:22Speaker 2: And I'm looking and I was like and it just
- 3:25Speaker 2: kept rising, and I was like, I have a shower.
- 3:28Speaker 4: I break down.
- 3:29Speaker 5: I'll let it, I'll let it go down, and I'll
- 3:31Speaker 5: have a showers and you come in.
- 3:32Speaker 6: The water will break down the exact paper right exactly, exactly.
- 3:35Speaker 4: No, No.
- 3:37Speaker 5: I was in the shower like half and now Rob
- 3:39Speaker 5: was like, what are you doing?
- 3:40Speaker 6: I was shop, what did you do?
- 3:43Speaker 5: I had to call in him and I was like, I.
- 3:45Speaker 4: Feel it's bad.
- 3:46Speaker 6: Period is less embarrassing than a big ship, though I agree.
- 3:49Speaker 2: At the end of the day, the toilet bowl is
- 3:52Speaker 2: at the rim and it's a household of suns, three boys,
- 3:58Speaker 2: a dad, and the mum was at a girl's week
- 4:00Speaker 2: end away.
- 4:00Speaker 5: It was all boiling.
- 4:03Speaker 6: Your way to test if they're feminists.
- 4:05Speaker 5: Or yeah, but it ends up.
- 4:09Speaker 4: Rob was like, I was like, you have to say
- 4:11Speaker 4: it was you, And.
- 4:12Speaker 6: He was like, how could it not be any say
- 4:14Speaker 6: you had a.
- 4:15Speaker 4: Beetroot juice or something like.
- 4:17Speaker 5: I was like, you have to say it was you
- 4:19Speaker 5: because I'm dying. And I was like, I don't care.
- 4:21Speaker 3: I had like a noseblade and you chuck the toilet paper.
- 4:24Speaker 5: Yeah, toilet. But then I started panicking.
- 4:26Speaker 2: I was like, they're going to think I put a
- 4:27Speaker 2: tampon down the toilet and I didn't.
- 4:30Speaker 6: I have a life hack on how to flush. What's
- 4:34Speaker 6: the word clogged? Toilet. Oh yeah, you just need like
- 4:37Speaker 6: a bucket of water. So you could have filled up
- 4:39Speaker 6: that bucket in the shower if you had a bucket.
- 4:41Speaker 6: What do you mean that bucket and you just you
- 4:46Speaker 6: just have to pour like a large amount of water
- 4:48Speaker 6: in a fast so if the f because the flush
- 4:50Speaker 6: isn't fast enough. But that's all it is, right, It's
- 4:52Speaker 6: just a large amount of water dumping it onto the
- 4:55Speaker 6: contents which flushes it over the you bend. You just
- 4:58Speaker 6: have to pour a bucket of water in there.
- 5:00Speaker 3: So it just needs something to like a wave.
- 5:03Speaker 4: That would have been nice on Saturday.
- 5:04Speaker 6: Morning if he had a bottle of water, like a
- 5:06Speaker 6: frank green bottle. Take off the lidi, no, because the
- 5:11Speaker 6: force of it pushes it under the spend. So that's
- 5:14Speaker 6: life lesson for your chicks.
- 5:16Speaker 5: The next time I block my boyfriend's parents.
- 5:18Speaker 6: Toilet, that's a sligh way to test.
- 5:22Speaker 2: It's the second time I toilet period. That's just been
- 5:32Speaker 2: a human I just think maybe I've been a bit
- 5:35Speaker 2: excessive with the toilet paper situation.
- 5:37Speaker 7: Also, like do the courtesy flush, like if whether it's
- 5:41Speaker 7: your period or like you're going downtown releasing the devils
- 5:46Speaker 7: just like flush halfway through, so you're not like feeling
- 5:50Speaker 7: people do that.
- 5:51Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't, but I know that people do.
- 5:53Speaker 5: Yeah, the courtesy flush Yeah, okay, I've learned a lot.
- 5:57Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a good one for like public toilets.
- 6:00Speaker 2: The life lesson here is have a boyfriend that'll take
- 6:03Speaker 2: the fall for you.
- 6:04Speaker 5: Yeah, and if they won't, jumps them.
- 6:09Speaker 3: And the bucket tricky.
- 6:14Speaker 4: There's like three life lessons in that.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Are we done?
- 6:17Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 6:18Speaker 4: That is an episode.
- 6:19Speaker 7: Actually, bye, we did say for a shitty day.
- 6:22Speaker 6: Oh well time. I love that.
- 6:29Speaker 5: Great works out Getty Race. Okay.
- 6:33Speaker 7: My life lesson is boring, And it's just a reminder
- 6:36Speaker 7: to actually look at your bills when they're coming through,
- 6:39Speaker 7: especially for like those recurring payments like your electricity and
- 6:43Speaker 7: gas and stuff that sort of just like comes out
- 6:44Speaker 7: in the background, at least for me it does. And
- 6:49Speaker 7: they had been overcharging a ship time, much like hundreds
- 6:54Speaker 7: of dollars for a quarter, and Chris and I were like,
- 6:57Speaker 7: what because we knew that our rates had gone up.
- 7:00Speaker 5: Do you remember you.
- 7:01Speaker 4: Told me what your electricity sally, what have you been doing?
- 7:05Speaker 5: Oh that's like no, believe that's correct.
- 7:07Speaker 7: But it had gone up even more and then more again,
- 7:10Speaker 7: and I was like, there's no way, and.
- 7:13Speaker 3: Then so Chris called them.
- 7:14Speaker 7: They're like, oh, yeah, sorry, we've been overcharging you.
- 7:17Speaker 5: What the final bill was that you were like something?
- 7:19Speaker 3: It was nine hundred dollars three months.
- 7:22Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, nine hundred dollars.
- 7:24Speaker 7: So we now have an eight hundred dollars credit on
- 7:27Speaker 7: our And if.
- 7:27Speaker 6: You had called that out, would they have said no way?
- 7:31Speaker 2: Oh my god?
- 7:32Speaker 6: Okay, yes, great life lesson.
- 7:33Speaker 7: So just same with your phone bill anything like that,
- 7:37Speaker 7: because they're not going to be.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Like, oh sorry, like they don't really give a fuck.
- 7:42Speaker 3: So you have to do the calling.
- 7:44Speaker 4: And it took luk.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Yeah, it took like ten minutes as well. And also
- 7:48Speaker 3: I got Chris to do it.
- 7:49Speaker 6: So yeah, so get a boyfriend.
- 7:52Speaker 4: Yeah, all the life lessons.
- 7:54Speaker 3: I have a partner.
- 7:57Speaker 2: My life lesson wouldn't have happened if I don't have
- 7:59Speaker 2: a boy friends, you know what.
- 8:06Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I'm working on it.
- 8:09Speaker 5: Okay, Well, great life lessons everyone, job.
- 8:12Speaker 4: I really like the support I had on mind.
- 8:13Speaker 6: Thanks.
- 8:14Speaker 4: I feel like I'm gonna say stave.
- 8:22Speaker 2: So babes, Maddie, Yeah, let's catch up, okay, because I
- 8:24Speaker 2: haven't seen you.
- 8:25Speaker 4: In age traveling heat in l A l at Glen Powell.
- 8:30Speaker 6: I did.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Okay, so here's the thing you've met Glen Powell, Yes,
- 8:34Speaker 2: Jason Moa and I need a third who's like a
- 8:37Speaker 2: third person.
- 8:37Speaker 6: Luke Newton. He's currently in Bridgeton.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Okay, Colin Mary kill, Glenn Powell, Jason Momoa and Luke Newton.
- 8:45Speaker 6: Okay, all right, I'm going to fuck Jason Momoa of course. Yeah,
- 8:50Speaker 6: climb that way. I would marry Glen Powell, and I
- 8:55Speaker 6: probably like Luke Newton. He's cute.
- 8:57Speaker 5: We won't say, we won't say cay, We'll say put
- 8:59Speaker 5: on the bench.
- 9:00Speaker 6: Put on the bench, you know, because he's having his
- 9:03Speaker 6: moment in Bridgeton and I'm here for it.
- 9:05Speaker 5: But you saw the wink, didn't you.
- 9:14Speaker 6: Yeah no, Actually that was episode one and I was like, no,
- 9:16Speaker 6: we got the.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Do you know what? They would have done a lot
- 9:19Speaker 2: better if they let him keep his s double in
- 9:20Speaker 2: the show.
- 9:21Speaker 6: Yeah, I agree. Yeah, I think he's just trying a
- 9:24Speaker 6: bit too hard. Yeah, he didn't need to. Yeah, it's like, oh,
- 9:27Speaker 6: I have to have riz now, and it's like, but
- 9:28Speaker 6: you already had it.
- 9:29Speaker 4: He's got in his interviews. Yeah, as Colin, no, I'm
- 9:32Speaker 4: not sure.
- 9:34Speaker 6: I'm not here for it. Then I hope that he
- 9:36Speaker 6: redeems himself in the last four episodes excited for it.
- 9:39Speaker 6: But yeah, that was that's who. Yeah, I meeting lots
- 9:41Speaker 6: of celebrities. It's star struck. Yeah, it's been wilds, just
- 9:49Speaker 6: a bunch of like celeb and I met Chris Emsworth
- 9:51Speaker 6: and you Tailor Joy. It's just been like a couple
- 9:55Speaker 6: of months of meeting celebs.
- 9:56Speaker 2: I don't have jobs like a celeb hunter, apparently I'm not.
- 10:00Speaker 6: It's going to be like a TikTok correspondent to meet
- 10:02Speaker 6: all the celebrities. It's wild. It's foulating you because.
- 10:06Speaker 2: You've been on a journey in terms of your career,
- 10:10Speaker 2: because you've been pursuing acting, which I can imagine would
- 10:13Speaker 2: have a lot of highs and lows in acting, mostly lows.
- 10:17Speaker 4: Well, talk us through it. What's the lows with that?
- 10:20Speaker 6: Well, I mean, in terms of being an actor, you're
- 10:21Speaker 6: just like auditioning constantly with a whole lot of rejection
- 10:25Speaker 6: and then they never tell you why. And like for me,
- 10:28Speaker 6: as an actor in Australia, in a very small industry
- 10:31Speaker 6: with not a lot of roles for women, I don't
- 10:33Speaker 6: even get into the room. I don't even get the audition,
- 10:35Speaker 6: so I'm getting rejected before I even get to try.
- 10:38Speaker 6: So it's been it's been like a really hard kind
- 10:40Speaker 6: of journey. And this year it's kind of shifted for
- 10:43Speaker 6: me in terms of like what I want for my
- 10:45Speaker 6: career because I do have this platform now, which kind
- 10:48Speaker 6: of happened by accident in the last two years. So
- 10:50Speaker 6: I'm like, I think I'm just gonna walk through that
- 10:52Speaker 6: door and see which doors open in the hallway because
- 10:55Speaker 6: I've been acting for so long and it's just so
- 10:57Speaker 6: disappointing to just get rejection with no no reason why.
- 11:01Speaker 6: It's like, well, to help me, how can I fix
- 11:03Speaker 6: myself to no feedback? Like how can I you know,
- 11:07Speaker 6: so I'm not I'm ready to just like let the
- 11:10Speaker 6: hallway go wherever it's going.
- 11:12Speaker 7: Yeah, and like why shut the door on opportunities that
- 11:15Speaker 7: are presenting themselves exactly just because they weren't on your
- 11:18Speaker 7: vision board initially?
- 11:19Speaker 3: Yes, like life will find a way.
- 11:21Speaker 2: How do you go through the process of like leaning
- 11:25Speaker 2: away from something that you've been pursuing for a really
- 11:27Speaker 2: long time without finding that as a failure because it's not.
- 11:31Speaker 6: It was heartbreaking. Yeah, and a lot of people in
- 11:34Speaker 6: my life who were not creative couldn't understand why it
- 11:37Speaker 6: was because I've been trying to be an actor for
- 11:39Speaker 6: ten years, Like I started studying when I was twenty
- 11:42Speaker 6: one and I turned thirty one next month, and it
- 11:44Speaker 6: was just kind of like, I've been at this for
- 11:45Speaker 6: so long, and it's not like I'm giving up on
- 11:48Speaker 6: a dream, but it's like allowing the dream to shift
- 11:51Speaker 6: and change, evolve and evolve. And I think that like
- 11:54Speaker 6: when you've had your like your vision board on something
- 11:57Speaker 6: so strong for so long, it's really hard to let go.
- 12:00Speaker 6: And so in the beginning it was really heartbreaking. But
- 12:02Speaker 6: now it's been really exciting because it's like I know
- 12:04Speaker 6: that there's these opportunities available for me, but I don't
- 12:08Speaker 6: know what they are yet, and I'm so excited to
- 12:10Speaker 6: discover and to say yes to things because I have
- 12:12Speaker 6: definitely said no to things to be like, no, I
- 12:14Speaker 6: want to be taken seriously as an actor, so I
- 12:16Speaker 6: can't say yes to this. I can't say yes to this.
- 12:18Speaker 6: But now I'm just like, yeah, I'll say yes to
- 12:20Speaker 6: all of it. I will fly to LA for two
- 12:22Speaker 6: days time and meet Glenn Powell and the cast of
- 12:24Speaker 6: Twisters and interview them like, Wow, what an amazing opportunity.
- 12:28Speaker 6: So I'm like, I've been so lucky to have this
- 12:30Speaker 6: kind of like new career journey on social So I
- 12:34Speaker 6: mean not new, I've been doing it for two years,
- 12:35Speaker 6: but to actually like really lean into it has been
- 12:38Speaker 6: really exciting. Dreams can change and that's okay, you know.
- 12:42Speaker 6: So it's been Yeah, a little heartbreaking but mostly mostly great.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I think is it can be difficult looking at
- 12:48Speaker 2: all the work that you've put into it, yeah, being
- 12:50Speaker 2: like does that make it for nothing? But it doesn't
- 12:53Speaker 2: because if you didn't put all that work.
- 12:55Speaker 6: I wouldn't be exactly it is. I am still using it,
- 12:58Speaker 6: It's just in a different way, exactly.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:00Speaker 4: I love that.
- 13:01Speaker 2: And dealing with the rejection that you had to deal
- 13:04Speaker 2: with as part of, you know, the industry you were
- 13:06Speaker 2: going in. I can imagine that would lead to some
- 13:08Speaker 2: pretty shitty days.
- 13:09Speaker 5: I'll see where I'm going with, see where I'm going with.
- 13:18Speaker 6: Exactly.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Okay, So how would you turn around? Like, what's one
- 13:25Speaker 2: way that you would turn around that shitty day? Let's
- 13:28Speaker 2: say that you just got a rejection, Yeah, how would
- 13:31Speaker 2: you go about that.
- 13:31Speaker 6: I mean, I definitely have a good cry, and I
- 13:34Speaker 6: think that that's okay. Like one of my favorite things
- 13:36Speaker 6: to do is to run a hot shower and like
- 13:37Speaker 6: play a really good playlist of like sad songs that
- 13:41Speaker 6: I can belt and cry to because sometimes sitting in
- 13:44Speaker 6: it actually helps because then afterwards you can laugh, you know,
- 13:47Speaker 6: and you have a good sleep when you have a
- 13:48Speaker 6: good cry as well.
- 13:49Speaker 3: So it's on the playlist.
- 13:52Speaker 6: I think a bit of like Adele definitely, I feel
- 13:56Speaker 6: like Paloma faith is. Do you know that song only
- 13:59Speaker 6: Love Can Hurt like this? See that one is such
- 14:01Speaker 6: a good song to scream cry to in the shower.
- 14:04Speaker 6: So stuff like that, like actually sitting in it and
- 14:06Speaker 6: having a good bed rot when you're having a bad day.
- 14:10Speaker 6: In terms of like positive things, I mean that's not
- 14:13Speaker 6: not a positive but like you know, going for a
- 14:15Speaker 6: walk for your mental health, seeing a friend and having
- 14:20Speaker 6: a chat, maybe having a wank, you know.
- 14:23Speaker 3: Always good.
- 14:23Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 14:24Speaker 2: I realized I filmed something the other day and I
- 14:26Speaker 2: was making my bed and I did a you and
- 14:28Speaker 2: my toy was still in the bed.
- 14:31Speaker 6: Yeah, I live with mine, my pillow. I can't anymore
- 14:34Speaker 6: because I have a dog who will find So now
- 14:37Speaker 6: it sits in the drawer, it's moved. I've grown up.
- 14:40Speaker 2: But I think that's a good point in terms of,
- 14:42Speaker 2: you know, looking at what's happened that day and not
- 14:47Speaker 2: not necessarily sitting in it entirely, but giving yourself the
- 14:51Speaker 2: moment to like feel it, because if you don't sit
- 14:54Speaker 2: and have the cry or have the shower or maybe
- 14:58Speaker 2: like sometimes what I do is I'll put on like
- 15:00Speaker 2: a comfort show that I've watched a lot that I
- 15:03Speaker 2: don't really need to watch it that I can think
- 15:05Speaker 2: and digest my emotions, but I'm not going full throttle
- 15:10Speaker 2: into the fields that i can sit there and have
- 15:12Speaker 2: a little bit of a comfort through it.
- 15:14Speaker 7: Yeah, it gives you that little bit of structure and
- 15:17Speaker 7: routine and repetitiveness and comfort. But then also in the
- 15:21Speaker 7: back of your mind you can still have these conversations
- 15:24Speaker 7: with yourself, so you're not completely sedating yourself and bottling
- 15:27Speaker 7: up the emotionans.
- 15:28Speaker 5: It's kind of like half half approach definitely.
- 15:31Speaker 7: Which I think I love to do, like a physical
- 15:34Speaker 7: reset and refresh on the day. So for me, I
- 15:40Speaker 7: love to like close all of the tabs on my
- 15:43Speaker 7: laptop and be like.
- 15:45Speaker 3: The day it's over, like clean slate. If the tabs
- 15:48Speaker 3: need to come back to me, they will find their way.
- 15:50Speaker 5: I love doing that.
- 15:52Speaker 1: I do that, dude.
- 15:53Speaker 7: Yeah, Like put my phone on do not disturb. But
- 15:56Speaker 7: then I'll have a shower. I have like the full
- 16:00Speaker 7: what's it called again, the everything shower everything shower, wash
- 16:04Speaker 7: my hair, get into like fresh clean pajamas, change the sheets,
- 16:10Speaker 7: actually take time to do like a proper skincare routine,
- 16:13Speaker 7: not just like my everyday one, like sit down and.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Put like the lace ones one hundred and twenty steps exactly.
- 16:20Speaker 2: I like the led mask, like do a facial like
- 16:23Speaker 2: all of that stuff that's very intentional and being like no,
- 16:27Speaker 2: like that day is done, I'm pressing reset and we're
- 16:32Speaker 2: starting fresh and like doing very intentional physical things that
- 16:37Speaker 2: aren't just in my mind. Because I feel like that
- 16:40Speaker 2: translates across to me emotionally and mentally.
- 16:44Speaker 3: I feel like I can be like okay.
- 16:45Speaker 5: Like I can sort of like wash my hands of
- 16:47Speaker 5: this day.
- 16:47Speaker 7: Yeah, And it also shows me that like it's so
- 16:50Speaker 7: easy to do that, Like all of these things are
- 16:52Speaker 7: at my disposal and I can do them in my
- 16:54Speaker 7: own house, and it takes me like half an hour
- 16:57Speaker 7: to do that, and already I feel so much better
- 16:59Speaker 7: and have some control I think over the day.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like the key thing across like what
- 17:04Speaker 2: we've all said is like having a clear physical reset
- 17:08Speaker 2: to the day, like within the day, whether that's having
- 17:11Speaker 2: a shower, whether that's you know, doing a step, closing
- 17:14Speaker 2: all the tabs and having a clear reset. One thing
- 17:16Speaker 2: I like to do is I like to actually leave
- 17:18Speaker 2: the house. And it's like because as well, especially if
- 17:21Speaker 2: you're working from home, a lot of life lack bleeds
- 17:25Speaker 2: into everything, even if it's not work related, like if
- 17:29Speaker 2: it's you know, friendship related, everything's on social media, if
- 17:32Speaker 2: it's work related, it tends.
- 17:34Speaker 5: To follow you home.
- 17:35Speaker 2: That Like, you know, technology gives us so many opportunities,
- 17:38Speaker 2: but it also like makes everything bleed into everything that
- 17:42Speaker 2: it's really hard to have that distinguisher.
- 17:44Speaker 5: Whereas when I was working.
- 17:45Speaker 2: In an office full time, I'd have a bad day,
- 17:48Speaker 2: but at five point thirty when I get to leave
- 17:50Speaker 2: and walk home, and like everything in my brain's romanticized
- 17:54Speaker 2: because I hate living in reality, and i'd be like
- 17:56Speaker 2: on the bus and on the train looking at the window,
- 17:58Speaker 2: I'd be like, I mean anything, but having that clear
- 18:01Speaker 2: reset whatever that is for you. That doesn't need to
- 18:05Speaker 2: cost you money. It's just okay, that's done. And you
- 18:08Speaker 2: can do that at like ten am in the morning.
- 18:10Speaker 6: Yeah, leave the house, leave it behind. Yeah.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Well I mean not everyone can just like leave probably
- 18:15Speaker 2: work at ten am, but like go for a walk,
- 18:17Speaker 2: grab a coffee.
- 18:18Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 18:19Speaker 3: But that's the thing. It's like finding the thing that.
- 18:21Speaker 6: Works for you.
- 18:23Speaker 7: Like, if you can't get up and leave your job,
- 18:26Speaker 7: maybe it's a matter of like opening up your notebook
- 18:28Speaker 7: and writing down whatever is pissing you off, ripping it out,
- 18:31Speaker 7: scrunching it up, throwing it in the bin and bad.
- 18:34Speaker 8: And that's what it sound. I used to do when
- 18:37Speaker 8: someone would piss us off.
- 18:39Speaker 5: And this is this was only when they like really
- 18:42Speaker 5: really okay.
- 18:43Speaker 3: So when we wanted someone out of our lives.
- 18:46Speaker 6: This is feeling.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Very witchy, okay. So basically what we would do is
- 18:52Speaker 2: you write down their names favor and then you get
- 18:56Speaker 2: like a ziplock bag and you feel a ziplock bag
- 18:59Speaker 2: with a little bit of water, and then you put
- 19:00Speaker 2: the name in the water in the zip hop bag,
- 19:03Speaker 2: and then you put in the freezer and you freeze them.
- 19:06Speaker 6: Oh oh, my god, you're physically freezing them out. Yeah.
- 19:10Speaker 7: My mum taught me that when I was like in
- 19:12Speaker 7: primary school and it helps.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:14Speaker 6: Yeah, wow, that is very witchy.
- 19:17Speaker 3: Yeah, but you have to do it with like good intentions.
- 19:21Speaker 3: It can't be that like you wish any ill will.
- 19:24Speaker 4: No holds the bag.
- 19:27Speaker 7: It's just like you just want them out of your life.
- 19:30Speaker 7: I don't want anything bad to happen to them.
- 19:31Speaker 3: You just want them.
- 19:32Speaker 6: Out of your life, out of mind.
- 19:34Speaker 7: Yeah, and like even if it doesn't work and it's
- 19:36Speaker 7: just a placebo again, it's all about like having some
- 19:39Speaker 7: semblance of control and being.
- 19:41Speaker 3: Like, well, I put a curse on you, so no.
- 19:44Speaker 2: You know, when I was like sixteen, I tried to
- 19:46Speaker 2: do a love spell on who someone at at work,
- 19:51Speaker 2: but then I like got the eats.
- 19:54Speaker 6: Yeah, it was.
- 19:56Speaker 5: It was really dumb.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 19:58Speaker 5: Love spell you had, I'm trying to remember it.
- 20:02Speaker 2: You wrote down their name and then you had to
- 20:05Speaker 2: like fold it a certain amount of times.
- 20:09Speaker 3: Probably like seven or something.
- 20:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it was like three.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Or seven number like that, and then you had to
- 20:14Speaker 2: like kiss it in red lipstick, and.
- 20:16Speaker 5: Then you had to burn it with a red candle.
- 20:19Speaker 6: I'm going to do this.
- 20:24Speaker 2: We'll get into the dating series waiting.
- 20:28Speaker 5: Let me segue.
- 20:30Speaker 6: Wait, I have one more tip about how to get
- 20:32Speaker 6: yourself out of a shitty day. You haven't mentioned. Listen
- 20:36Speaker 6: to a good podcast Guys Two Broke Chicks. Yes, sometimes funny,
- 20:44Speaker 6: always awkward. I come here for the Yeah.
- 20:48Speaker 5: On that note, it's like with podcasts as well.
- 20:51Speaker 2: There's this one that I listened to and they just
- 20:53Speaker 2: like talk about movies that I watched like growing up,
- 20:57Speaker 2: and it's but.
- 20:58Speaker 4: It's Britney Spears. You would have seen them.
- 21:03Speaker 6: On and Brain with an E b are e T
- 21:07Speaker 6: T and yeah, but that's clever.
- 21:11Speaker 2: They're fabulous creator and they just feel like the funniest person.
- 21:16Speaker 2: And it's like one of those because I think, as well,
- 21:18Speaker 2: we need to find the time for self betterment and
- 21:22Speaker 2: then we need to find the time.
- 21:24Speaker 6: To just exist just a brain rot brain.
- 21:27Speaker 4: It's just it can be a bit hard.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Like I've found recently that with podcasts as well, that
- 21:33Speaker 2: like a lot of the podcasts I do listen to
- 21:36Speaker 2: have are always like, you know, about motivation, motivation and
- 21:39Speaker 2: doing better in career, your own productivity. And then recently
- 21:42Speaker 2: I've just been a bit like.
- 21:45Speaker 6: Yeah, I just want to not really think.
- 21:48Speaker 2: You need to find the things that are just there
- 21:51Speaker 2: for you to have fun and are just an interest,
- 21:54Speaker 2: and listening to a podcast.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Is one of them.
- 21:57Speaker 5: But yeah, my love spell works.
- 22:00Speaker 2: And then we started dating and then he gave me
- 22:02Speaker 2: glandular fever.
- 22:03Speaker 5: Was really annoyed about it, so I dumped.
- 22:05Speaker 6: Him red flag.
- 22:06Speaker 7: I was like fifteen, by the way, being like some
- 22:08Speaker 7: witchcraft something backfired.
- 22:10Speaker 2: And then the universe was like, no, it's giving the
- 22:14Speaker 2: fact that we were fifteen years old and everyone hooked
- 22:17Speaker 2: up with each other.
- 22:17Speaker 6: At because of it.
- 22:20Speaker 7: Is this episode not actually the Practical Magic remake. You know.
- 22:27Speaker 8: It was so good as well because I had to
- 22:29Speaker 8: sit in the doctors with my dad and they were like,
- 22:32Speaker 8: they will give me the blood desk back, and he's like, yeah,
- 22:34Speaker 8: you've got glandula fever also known as the kissing disease.
- 22:36Speaker 5: And I was like, you knew exactly what you were doing.
- 22:40Speaker 6: Yeah, so much rounded you might as well have showed
- 22:43Speaker 6: up with a hickey.
- 22:46Speaker 4: So, speaking of the kissing disease, there it comes.
- 22:51Speaker 5: You've recently launched a new dating series. Use about it please.
- 22:55Speaker 6: I've decided that I'm on the Bachelorette, except that I
- 22:58Speaker 6: make my own edits.
- 23:02Speaker 5: Are you giving yourself the villain?
- 23:04Speaker 6: I get the good edit? Of course, the princess the
- 23:07Speaker 6: Princess edit. I've started a dating series because I've been
- 23:09Speaker 6: single for almost four years now, and I make comedy
- 23:12Speaker 6: content and I wanted to kind of like make some
- 23:15Speaker 6: more lifestyle content. But that wasn't just to get ready
- 23:17Speaker 6: with me or like a come on this blog. I
- 23:20Speaker 6: was like, what can I share that people would be
- 23:22Speaker 6: interested in that I would be interested in making? And
- 23:24Speaker 6: I was like, I have to share my dating life.
- 23:26Speaker 6: But it's also been a really great way to actually
- 23:29Speaker 6: force me to go on dates because I haven't been.
- 23:31Speaker 6: I've been really bad at it. It's like I really
- 23:33Speaker 6: want to meet someone, but I work from home and
- 23:36Speaker 6: I never leave my house, So like, when's that going
- 23:38Speaker 6: to happen. I'm not going to meet someone out in
- 23:40Speaker 6: the wild the postman, yeah, or like the people that
- 23:42Speaker 6: I meet on my walks, which are like just other
- 23:44Speaker 6: women my age, do you know what I mean? So
- 23:46Speaker 6: it's just like I'm not going to meet someone if
- 23:48Speaker 6: I just never leave my house. I was like this,
- 23:51Speaker 6: I like, I regret starting it, but I also don't
- 23:53Speaker 6: because I've started it and it's had a really positive response.
- 23:56Speaker 6: But it's made me have to go on dates because
- 23:59Speaker 6: I have a new account of it's keeping me accountable
- 24:01Speaker 6: and so I'm having to like actually get out of
- 24:03Speaker 6: my comfort zone and go on them. But it's been
- 24:04Speaker 6: really fun. I've posted five dates so far, and it's
- 24:08Speaker 6: not they're not first date. So some of these are multiple.
- 24:10Speaker 6: So I've gone on like multiple dates with people. I
- 24:14Speaker 6: am actually currently up to date ten. I just haven't
- 24:17Speaker 6: posted it. Why Well, because I've I feel like we're
- 24:21Speaker 6: maybe kind of seeing each other, but it's like more
- 24:24Speaker 6: like it's situationally.
- 24:26Speaker 2: It's wait, so is this dates five to ten like
- 24:28Speaker 2: you've been dated this past?
- 24:30Speaker 6: Okay?
- 24:30Speaker 7: No?
- 24:31Speaker 6: For date five, date five is one person that I've posted,
- 24:34Speaker 6: six and seven is one person, eight is another person,
- 24:37Speaker 6: and then nine and ten is this guy that I'm
- 24:39Speaker 6: still seeing. I was literally at his house last night.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Okay, Okay, I like want to get into that, but
- 24:44Speaker 2: I want to take it back to like date number one. Yeah,
- 24:46Speaker 2: and out of dates one to ten, has there been
- 24:51Speaker 2: one that's been absolutely dismal that you yes? What the fuck?
- 24:53Speaker 6: Okay? Yes, So I haven't posted it yet, this will
- 24:56Speaker 6: be date eight. If you're keeping tabs on check it out.
- 25:00Speaker 6: I went on this date with a guy. We were
- 25:03Speaker 6: there for like an hour maybe, and it was a
- 25:05Speaker 6: day drinking date on a on a weekend, so we
- 25:08Speaker 6: met it like three or something. When we finished the date,
- 25:11Speaker 6: I cut it short. The only thing he could tell
- 25:14Speaker 6: me about me was my name. That's it.
- 25:18Speaker 5: So we just talked the whole time.
- 25:19Speaker 6: He talks the whole time. And you know, when you're
- 25:21Speaker 6: having a conversation with someone, you input without them asking.
- 25:24Speaker 6: You're like, oh, that reminds me of this, so then
- 25:27Speaker 6: you'll put something in, and that's how a conversation works.
- 25:29Speaker 6: He would pause to let me say my bit and
- 25:32Speaker 6: then would go back to his story as if I'd
- 25:34Speaker 6: interrupted him.
- 25:35Speaker 8: I think I've done that, but you still are a
- 25:39Speaker 8: good conversationalist, Like it always come back right.
- 25:42Speaker 2: But if I'm mid story and it's a really good story,
- 25:45Speaker 2: I'm like, yep, I wasn't done yet.
- 25:48Speaker 6: But then you come and then you come back to it,
- 25:52Speaker 6: like I could tell you like where he grew up,
- 25:54Speaker 6: how many siblings he had, what his career goals were,
- 25:58Speaker 6: Like I'm not an extra and ask him all these
- 26:00Speaker 6: questions and maybe like ten minutes in like of me
- 26:03Speaker 6: trying to contribute to the conversation, I was like, I'm
- 26:05Speaker 6: going to test him and just not actually contribute and
- 26:08Speaker 6: see if he asks me back.
- 26:09Speaker 5: No, no, no, it's fun.
- 26:12Speaker 6: No. He doesn't even know what I do for work,
- 26:15Speaker 6: he doesn't know anything about me. He knows my name
- 26:17Speaker 6: is Maddie, he knows what's on.
- 26:18Speaker 4: Me, and ask his single question what No.
- 26:21Speaker 6: And so then after an hour, I was like, this
- 26:23Speaker 6: has been nice.
- 26:24Speaker 5: I'm going to leave for an hour.
- 26:25Speaker 6: That's yours?
- 26:26Speaker 4: So nice.
- 26:27Speaker 6: I just finished the drink that I had fair Yeah,
- 26:30Speaker 6: so that's get that in there. But I'm also I
- 26:32Speaker 6: think the reason I didn't end it earlier than an
- 26:34Speaker 6: hour is because I also am still a bit of
- 26:36Speaker 6: a people pleaser, and so like I couldn't just be
- 26:38Speaker 6: like this is fuck. I couldn't call him out. I
- 26:41Speaker 6: would love to have called him out and been like
- 26:43Speaker 6: this is fuck. Are you going to ask me a question?
- 26:44Speaker 6: I'm going to leave. So I stayed there for what
- 26:47Speaker 6: I thought was a reasonable amount of time for a
- 26:49Speaker 6: first date. And then when I'm going to go, you know,
- 26:51Speaker 6: I'm going to go take my dog for a walk
- 26:52Speaker 6: before it gets dark. So this was really lovely. And
- 26:55Speaker 6: then he never texted me. I never texted him, so
- 26:58Speaker 6: see you later.
- 26:58Speaker 3: I wasn't meant to be.
- 27:00Speaker 7: I feel like you have to stick it out a
- 27:01Speaker 7: little bit as well for the sake of the content.
- 27:04Speaker 6: Maybe, like sometimes when I'm not feeling like going on
- 27:08Speaker 6: a date at all, Like sometimes I would call it
- 27:09Speaker 6: and I'm like, oh god, ah, gotta make the video.
- 27:12Speaker 6: You know, yeah, I guess, And I'm excited to post
- 27:15Speaker 6: that because I feel like it's relatable, but it's also
- 27:17Speaker 6: like what a dud date.
- 27:19Speaker 2: That's what I've really enjoyed with this series is I
- 27:22Speaker 2: feel like you're really.
- 27:24Speaker 5: Tapping into the relatableness.
- 27:31Speaker 4: I started strong with my journalism and then I take.
- 27:35Speaker 2: But like it's really relatable in the way that you're
- 27:38Speaker 2: showing both the highs and the lows in terms of
- 27:40Speaker 2: like people will get really invested and they'll be like,
- 27:42Speaker 2: oh my god, I'm so excited for you, and then
- 27:44Speaker 2: you're like, okay, guys, I'm sorry, got bad news.
- 27:46Speaker 5: It didn't work out.
- 27:48Speaker 2: And I feel like that's like definitely this thing that
- 27:51Speaker 2: especially like obviously in a relationship now.
- 27:54Speaker 4: But it was similar to you we single for like
- 27:55Speaker 4: three years.
- 27:56Speaker 2: That it can be really really hard navigating the dating
- 28:01Speaker 2: world because you get your hopes up.
- 28:03Speaker 5: And then they'll drop off. And you know, I'm sure
- 28:06Speaker 5: that you've experienced that as well.
- 28:07Speaker 2: So how do you kind of pick yourself up and
- 28:09Speaker 2: dust yourself off and make yourself feel better after a
- 28:12Speaker 2: shitty date?
- 28:14Speaker 6: Just like start a dating series that forces you. And
- 28:19Speaker 6: I mean like, I've had those moments I've had, Like
- 28:21Speaker 6: I literally have video content of me last year crying
- 28:24Speaker 6: because a guy canceled on me for the third time
- 28:26Speaker 6: and I'd never met him, but it was more so
- 28:29Speaker 6: like that repetitiveness of always being left on red or ghosted,
- 28:32Speaker 6: and I was like, what am I doing wrong? I
- 28:34Speaker 6: just feel like, I mean, I will get to the
- 28:36Speaker 6: like making yourself feel better in a second, but I
- 28:39Speaker 6: just feel like dating app culture is like it's changed
- 28:43Speaker 6: the nature of dating because there's so much choice available
- 28:47Speaker 6: and I feel like even I'm guilty of it. It's
- 28:50Speaker 6: like I'm liking these people and I'm contacting them, but
- 28:52Speaker 6: I have other options.
- 28:54Speaker 5: It's a game of hot on all.
- 28:55Speaker 2: It's fucked Like it's literally a game that people are
- 28:59Speaker 2: playing on their phone.
- 29:01Speaker 5: It's not people behind a screen, and.
- 29:02Speaker 6: Is it like, am I going to get a better offer? So, like,
- 29:05Speaker 6: I'm not going to invest in you just in case
- 29:06Speaker 6: someone better comes along.
- 29:08Speaker 4: There's a backup. There's a world of thousands.
- 29:11Speaker 5: And hundreds and millions and jillions of backup.
- 29:13Speaker 6: There's no accountability. It's not like they have to give
- 29:16Speaker 6: me a reason why they can just unmatch with me
- 29:18Speaker 6: and then I would never find a way to contact them.
- 29:21Speaker 6: Like it's just that. Yeah, it's really crazy, and it
- 29:23Speaker 6: has been disheartening in the past. And last year I
- 29:27Speaker 6: had a really bad year of dating and it was awful.
- 29:29Speaker 6: It was just really sad.
- 29:30Speaker 5: I remember we were talking about it.
- 29:32Speaker 6: Yes, but I think going on more dates has made me.
- 29:36Speaker 6: I think forcing myself to just go on more has
- 29:38Speaker 6: made me more confident with it. And it really is yeah,
- 29:42Speaker 6: and it actually has made me have more fun. It's
- 29:44Speaker 6: made me set better boundaries for myself as well. Like
- 29:47Speaker 6: I mean an hour, I still committed to but I
- 29:51Speaker 6: think the last year I probably would have stayed for
- 29:54Speaker 6: longer just to be a people pleaser. But I was like, no,
- 29:57Speaker 6: I'm going to call this and end it here and
- 29:59Speaker 6: I'm not going to talk to him and.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Do you think it's been going on the dates that
- 30:03Speaker 2: has given you those boundaries and forced you.
- 30:05Speaker 6: To Yeah, because I think it's just like really boosted
- 30:08Speaker 6: my confidence. And it's just like, although it is a game,
- 30:10Speaker 6: you just got to play it, you know, put that
- 30:14Speaker 6: shit on a show.
- 30:18Speaker 5: So how do you come back from feeling really shitty
- 30:20Speaker 5: after a date?
- 30:21Speaker 6: I mean, I always feel better the next day after everything,
- 30:25Speaker 6: you know, so like having i mean like not writing
- 30:28Speaker 6: off the day and like it's good that a date
- 30:30Speaker 6: is at the end of the day because you close
- 30:32Speaker 6: to bedtime, but I always feel better. I always tell
- 30:35Speaker 6: myself that the next morning, I'm going to feel better.
- 30:37Speaker 6: But also just having a good like rant to a
- 30:39Speaker 6: friend on the phone is the best way. And now
- 30:42Speaker 6: I'm kind of doing it to you know, my audience
- 30:44Speaker 6: as well. We have a little debrief at the end
- 30:46Speaker 6: of the video, but like calling a good friend and
- 30:48Speaker 6: just being like, let me tell you about this fuck
- 30:50Speaker 6: date or this fuck thing that's happened. My other single
- 30:53Speaker 6: friends as well, like because they're kind of going through it.
- 30:56Speaker 6: We're in the trenches together, so that's been really helpful
- 30:58Speaker 6: to get me out of it. But mostly, yeah, I
- 31:01Speaker 6: just have an awarank and a sleep and then I'm
- 31:02Speaker 6: good the next morning.
- 31:03Speaker 4: Yeah, you know there's literally.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Well like probably not many of them could do it anyway,
- 31:12Speaker 2: but I feel like that's the biggest, Like I know,
- 31:14Speaker 2: the whole thing is like turning around a shitty day,
- 31:16Speaker 2: but I do think that is the fail safe that
- 31:18Speaker 2: you have that like, whatever you're going through, whatever emotion
- 31:22Speaker 2: is weighing you down, sleeping it off is literally the cure.
- 31:27Speaker 6: All you will be fine. You know, in a week's time,
- 31:30Speaker 6: you won't even remember what their name was. You know,
- 31:33Speaker 6: you to be a funny story. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's
- 31:36Speaker 6: all about perspective. Doing it for the plot, yeah, doing
- 31:39Speaker 6: it for the And I.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Do think like whatever time of the day it is,
- 31:42Speaker 2: whether it's a shitty day, whether it's a bad day
- 31:44Speaker 2: at work, relying on other people to pick you up
- 31:48Speaker 2: when you can't pick yourself up is going to be
- 31:50Speaker 2: one of the best things you can learn to do.
- 31:52Speaker 4: It is a bit hard though, to get past, like
- 31:54Speaker 4: the mental.
- 31:54Speaker 5: Barrier of being like I don't want to be annoying.
- 31:56Speaker 2: I don't want to pest my friends, but like you said,
- 31:59Speaker 2: like we're all in the trenches together.
- 32:01Speaker 6: Whatever that is, because like if they're going to pick
- 32:03Speaker 6: you up this time, you know, there's going to be
- 32:05Speaker 6: a time when they're going to need you to pick
- 32:06Speaker 6: them up. You know. That's what a good friendship and
- 32:09Speaker 6: relationship is.
- 32:09Speaker 5: There's a certain therapy to having a bitch.
- 32:11Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, definitely.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a difference between like bitching, gossiping, inventing.
- 32:16Speaker 6: Yeah, you guys made this video. It's like, you don't
- 32:18Speaker 6: have a diary. You are your human diaries. Yeah, that's
- 32:22Speaker 6: what you have friends for.
- 32:24Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, exactly, And as well.
- 32:25Speaker 7: I just find that it stops you from spinning your
- 32:28Speaker 7: wheels on a topic in your own head. Like you'll
- 32:31Speaker 7: have one conversation with someone, they'll validate you and then
- 32:34Speaker 7: you're like okay, cool, like I'm done. Yeah, Versus if
- 32:37Speaker 7: you are just talking to your own brain, you're like, yeah,
- 32:41Speaker 7: and remember this.
- 32:42Speaker 6: I know we.
- 32:43Speaker 7: Spoke about this five minutes ago, but let's talk about
- 32:45Speaker 7: it again.
- 32:46Speaker 3: Yeah, Like it just goes around over and over.
- 32:49Speaker 7: You can verbally physically get it out to somebody else
- 32:51Speaker 7: and it's like I don't know why, but it's like
- 32:53Speaker 7: it's just I'm over it now.
- 32:55Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, we love it.
- 32:57Speaker 2: On that note, there was this book that I found
- 33:02Speaker 2: in my house, which I don't even know where it
- 33:03Speaker 2: came from, and it was I think it's called it's
- 33:06Speaker 2: like a little pocketbook and it has it's like a
- 33:09Speaker 2: little book.
- 33:09Speaker 5: Of life, the little rules of life, and it has
- 33:13Speaker 5: like an inscription in the front.
- 33:14Speaker 4: Again, I don't know where this.
- 33:15Speaker 6: Book came from.
- 33:16Speaker 5: Which he speakyver, which he is Speakyver.
- 33:19Speaker 2: And it's got these little rules in it to just
- 33:23Speaker 2: like fulfill your life.
- 33:25Speaker 5: And one of them is to ask someone three questions
- 33:29Speaker 5: about their day.
- 33:30Speaker 2: We'll just ask someone like three questions whenever I've had
- 33:33Speaker 2: a shitty day, I kind of want to just know
- 33:36Speaker 2: that someone else had a good one. Yeah, So like
- 33:39Speaker 2: I'll ask I'll call my mom and I'll just talk
- 33:42Speaker 2: to her about her day and it takes my mind
- 33:44Speaker 2: off my day. Or I'll like ask my partner when
- 33:47Speaker 2: he gets home and I'll be like, what was your
- 33:49Speaker 2: favorite thing that you ate today?
- 33:51Speaker 5: And like he'll be.
- 33:52Speaker 6: Like, oh, but me.
- 33:54Speaker 5: Every time, Or like I'll tell you, I'll ask mom.
- 33:56Speaker 4: I'll be like, what was the highlight of your day?
- 33:58Speaker 2: And just like doing little things like that just resets
- 34:01Speaker 2: and kind of is that whole thing.
- 34:03Speaker 5: That's my favorite thing? That I don't ever stop talking about.
- 34:06Speaker 2: But is like you were like tiny little speck just
- 34:09Speaker 2: on a rock and nothing matters and that's it, Like
- 34:13Speaker 2: that's all you have. And I was telling Sal about
- 34:15Speaker 2: this that we had.
- 34:18Speaker 4: It's a bit more bird, a bit sad.
- 34:20Speaker 5: We had a chick send in in our Broke Chicks club.
- 34:24Speaker 2: She was asking for recommendations on like affordable wedding arrangements
- 34:28Speaker 2: because unfortunately her partner was diagnosed with stage four bow
- 34:32Speaker 2: cancer Oh my god, and was given fourteen months to live,
- 34:35Speaker 2: and like, it just stayed with me the whole day.
- 34:37Speaker 5: I just kept thinking about this and.
- 34:40Speaker 2: Just how horrible it would be, whether it was you know,
- 34:42Speaker 2: like a family member or a partner or a friend,
- 34:44Speaker 2: and just how like And then I was like what
- 34:46Speaker 2: would I do?
- 34:47Speaker 4: I was like, what would I do if I.
- 34:48Speaker 5: Had fourteen months to live? And I was like, I
- 34:52Speaker 5: wouldn't care. I wouldn't care about anything.
- 34:55Speaker 2: I wouldn't let like the little tiny things that like
- 34:58Speaker 2: annoy me during the day, pissed me, or you know,
- 35:01Speaker 2: those little things people say and you're like, oh that
- 35:04Speaker 2: hurt my feelings, Like you just wouldn't care, And just
- 35:08Speaker 2: really trying to remind myself that like there is such
- 35:12Speaker 2: a privilege in having as much time as we do,
- 35:16Speaker 2: and it was like the biggest thing that I've like
- 35:18Speaker 2: and that was only a week ago that I saw that.
- 35:20Speaker 5: But every now and again it's just like.
- 35:22Speaker 2: Yeah, stuck with me one thousand percent, but yeah, what
- 35:25Speaker 2: about you, Siah.
- 35:26Speaker 7: One of my like zero dollar ways to get myself
- 35:29Speaker 7: out of a shitty day is I don't.
- 35:32Speaker 3: Know if this is going to be like so niche
- 35:34Speaker 3: to me, but whatever.
- 35:36Speaker 5: It's watching fairy porn. That's shit. Wait, it's coming together,
- 35:47Speaker 5: going bag.
- 35:48Speaker 7: Sorry, But it sort of relates to like allowing other
- 35:52Speaker 7: people to help pick you up. And I always ask
- 35:56Speaker 7: my boyfriend when he comes home to shrink me down,
- 36:00Speaker 7: And basically it means that I like get in like
- 36:03Speaker 7: the fetal position or whatever, and he like will wrap
- 36:05Speaker 7: all of his like limbs around me and like squeeze
- 36:08Speaker 7: me so tight, and I imagine that I'm like shrunk
- 36:11Speaker 7: down to like the size of like a little like
- 36:13Speaker 7: baby chick or something, you know what I mean, like
- 36:16Speaker 7: just tiny, and he like puts compression on my head
- 36:19Speaker 7: and like around my body and just like makes me
- 36:22Speaker 7: feel like it's okay again, Like you would this big.
- 36:27Speaker 7: It's okay, Like I'm here to like protect you. Tell
- 36:31Speaker 7: me what's happening, talk, talk me through it. And it's
- 36:34Speaker 7: just like in those moments, I feel like the physicalness
- 36:38Speaker 7: of that and feeling just like safe and that literally
- 36:41Speaker 7: getting a big, full body hug from someone can like
- 36:44Speaker 7: immediately turn my day around. Yeah, and it's that easy,
- 36:48Speaker 7: but I can't please shrink me down so cute and
- 36:53Speaker 7: it works.
- 36:53Speaker 3: A trait every time.
- 36:55Speaker 6: Yeah, very good.
- 36:56Speaker 3: Yeah he's a weird babby, But that's the thing. It's
- 36:58Speaker 3: like you just have to you need to know what
- 37:00Speaker 3: works for you.
- 37:01Speaker 7: But also like just be willing to ask people for help,
- 37:05Speaker 7: like even if you don't have a partner, or you
- 37:08Speaker 7: live with housemates or you still live at home, like
- 37:11Speaker 7: ask your roommate to give you a big hug, or
- 37:14Speaker 7: like sit down with your mum.
- 37:15Speaker 3: And be like can I please just like rant to
- 37:18Speaker 3: you for ten minutes.
- 37:19Speaker 7: And just don't be afraid to ask people for help
- 37:22Speaker 7: in whatever way suits you, because not everybody's a physical
- 37:25Speaker 7: touch person like me.
- 37:27Speaker 6: Say, get a dog. Yeah, I'm not a physical touch
- 37:29Speaker 6: person either. Maybe a weighted blanket, Yeah, yeah, I love
- 37:33Speaker 6: that having a rant can be like to a loved
- 37:36Speaker 6: one can be just as helpful as a hug, though
- 37:38Speaker 6: if you're not a physical touch person.
- 37:39Speaker 2: True, yeah, do you find that ever since you got
- 37:42Speaker 2: a pet, though, Like navigating all those emotions has been
- 37:45Speaker 2: a lot easier.
- 37:46Speaker 6: He changed my life. Yeah, I was having like a
- 37:48Speaker 6: real like the mental health last year was like he
- 37:51Speaker 6: mostly rather than physical touch, gave me a routine, and
- 37:54Speaker 6: he got me out of my house like what you
- 37:56Speaker 6: said before, because I have to take him for walks
- 37:58Speaker 6: and I'm caring for something other than myself, got me
- 38:01Speaker 6: out of my own head. And so yeah, he's been
- 38:03Speaker 6: really great. I mean a dog is a lot of work.
- 38:05Speaker 6: You know, if you want something a little more low
- 38:06Speaker 6: maintenance and go for a cat, probably you could attest
- 38:10Speaker 6: to that. Yeah, he's been really great. He gets me
- 38:12Speaker 6: on my walks for my mental health.
- 38:14Speaker 3: We love it also unconditional love. Yeah, Like it's so nice.
- 38:18Speaker 6: He always loves me no matter what. It's the best.
- 38:21Speaker 2: It just peels it back and I feel like that's
- 38:23Speaker 2: like been the whole essence of this episode is like
- 38:27Speaker 2: it just gets so complicated, and people make it complicated,
- 38:31Speaker 2: like going on dates.
- 38:33Speaker 4: It's like there's these weird written rules.
- 38:36Speaker 6: Yeah, like screw the rules, but that's what I mean,
- 38:39Speaker 6: but it's there.
- 38:40Speaker 2: Yes, weird rules or like changing your career, Like at
- 38:44Speaker 2: the end of the day, you can make whatever decision
- 38:46Speaker 2: you want to do, and you've done that, and like,
- 38:49Speaker 2: I don't know, watching you've just flourish on social media,
- 38:51Speaker 2: which you have done since I've met you, has just
- 38:54Speaker 2: been like such a pleasure and watching you step into
- 38:56Speaker 2: your own and I feel like you're glowing so much
- 38:58Speaker 2: more after making such a hard decision.
- 39:01Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, it's been hard. But yeah, once you like
- 39:03Speaker 6: find it, find your pathway, yeah, it does. It changes everything.
- 39:07Speaker 2: I can't wait to be like twenty years from now
- 39:09Speaker 2: and we're like sitting around like complaining about I don't know,
- 39:12Speaker 2: younger people I know, and we're going to like all
- 39:15Speaker 2: be where we're supposed to be. It's going to be
- 39:18Speaker 2: so exciting and we'll be like remember that podcast episode
- 39:21Speaker 2: on a massive transition And.
- 39:23Speaker 6: Yeah, because I also in the same vein love seeing
- 39:25Speaker 6: you guys thrive, Like it's so crazy. But yeah, in
- 39:28Speaker 6: twenty years time, yeah, being like those little things that
- 39:32Speaker 6: didn't matter.
- 39:32Speaker 2: We'll do do two Broke Chicks reunion specials and we'll
- 39:38Speaker 2: have like all the best geests like.
- 39:41Speaker 3: Shy, two Broke Chicks, all Stars.
- 39:44Speaker 5: Yes, we'll give tips for menopause.
- 39:46Speaker 2: Okay, well, everyone's homework for this episode. I think they
- 39:50Speaker 2: have to find three things that costs them zero dollars
- 39:54Speaker 2: that reset their day. Whether that's doing your skincare, having
- 39:58Speaker 2: a shower, going for a walk, having a bitch to someone,
- 40:02Speaker 2: or having a wank, whatever that is.
- 40:05Speaker 3: Those are just some examples that we love.
- 40:09Speaker 2: Watch some fairy porn. Yeah, watch, but it's ready.
- 40:13Speaker 5: And I really want to sure, I really want to
- 40:16Speaker 5: firm that. I don't think I would like that, But.
- 40:19Speaker 6: I reckon Akatar has been so popular that that's going
- 40:23Speaker 6: to surely be made into a series.
- 40:25Speaker 4: It's being made into a TV series.
- 40:26Speaker 6: There you go. That's going to be fairy porn.
- 40:29Speaker 2: There you go.
- 40:30Speaker 6: Very soon.
- 40:32Speaker 5: I hope they do it. See here's the thing. I
- 40:34Speaker 5: know a tangent now, but have.
- 40:36Speaker 6: You read it? I started, I can't get into it.
- 40:39Speaker 6: Is it good? You know how you have to get
- 40:43Speaker 6: a certain point. I'm only like three chapters in. You
- 40:46Speaker 6: have to when you start in your series.
- 40:50Speaker 5: To come on to my room.
- 40:52Speaker 6: I'm not a reader. I don't read.
- 40:54Speaker 3: I try book.
- 40:56Speaker 6: I'm not I'm not a book girl.
- 40:58Speaker 3: I need to wait till the show. Okay, you'll enjoy
- 41:00Speaker 3: the show.
- 41:03Speaker 5: And lucky.
- 41:04Speaker 2: So across your journey throughout you know, acting and moving
- 41:09Speaker 2: into more creator TikTok led stuff and also dating, what's
- 41:13Speaker 2: been your biggest life lesson?
- 41:17Speaker 6: Yeah, I know it's that's a big question. My biggest
- 41:19Speaker 6: life lesson, I guess is just like, roll with it.
- 41:23Speaker 6: Just go with the flow, do it for the plot, yeah,
- 41:27Speaker 6: you know, and just see where it takes you. Like, yeah,
- 41:30Speaker 6: trust the process. Don't hold onto things so tightly, like
- 41:33Speaker 6: let things are going to change and be different to
- 41:36Speaker 6: what you expected. Just roll with it. Do shit for
- 41:39Speaker 6: a good story, because you'll never know, Like if you
- 41:40Speaker 6: just stay in that one kind of like where you
- 41:42Speaker 6: feel safe, you'll never know what the what could have happened,
- 41:47Speaker 6: you know, like yourself. Yeah, and like your future. Your
- 41:50Speaker 6: future is going to be what your future is like,
- 41:52Speaker 6: You're never going to know what the other option is,
- 41:53Speaker 6: so just go with it.
- 41:54Speaker 3: So true, love that I don't regret what's never going to.
- 41:57Speaker 6: Happen exactly exactly. Just go with it, do it for
- 42:00Speaker 6: the plot. God love you made.
- 42:02Speaker 2: Yeah, we can stay forever. Okay, good Molan, I would
- 42:06Speaker 2: like to stay for dinner? Would I stay forever? Well,
- 42:11Speaker 2: we well start.
- 42:11Speaker 5: Quoting the whole movie.
- 42:12Speaker 3: Yeah, that is a wrap.
- 42:14Speaker 5: Thank you so much for training us.
- 42:15Speaker 6: I'm excited for the reunion tour.
- 42:19Speaker 2: See when I'm sixty, I won't give a fuck exactly,
- 42:22Speaker 2: I'll be like you.
- 42:24Speaker 6: Yeah, put it in the freezer.
- 42:28Speaker 2: I'm going to sell my love spell on Etsy.
- 42:32Speaker 6: I don't have anyone to write me. Oh yeah, to
- 42:36Speaker 6: break chicks.
- 42:37Speaker 2: I think that's very because I do already love you,
- 42:40Speaker 2: don't need to make you love me.
- 42:41Speaker 3: Do it about what?
- 42:42Speaker 7: Like?
- 42:42Speaker 5: Who's your like hall past crush, because let's be honest,
- 42:45Speaker 5: you might meet them?
- 42:46Speaker 6: Yeah maybe yeah, well it used to be suck Efron,
- 42:50Speaker 6: but currently my current boy crush is THEO James great One.
- 42:55Speaker 5: So this guy maybe from Divergent.
- 42:58Speaker 3: Yeah there's possibility. I can see that in your future.
- 43:01Speaker 5: Yeah all right, maybe we'll do it for you.
- 43:03Speaker 3: Yeah all manifest Yeah, wait, let's all a love spell.
- 43:06Speaker 4: Let's have a sleepover.
- 43:10Speaker 5: Sell your chicks can come to me a love spell book.
- 43:14Speaker 4: That's right.
- 43:14Speaker 5: And I got her after my ex stump me and
- 43:16Speaker 5: then my mum looked at it. And she went, don't
- 43:18Speaker 5: you dire.
- 43:21Speaker 2: For that?
- 43:21Speaker 3: No, it's like not with him, with other people.
- 43:23Speaker 6: I literally went to a clairvoyant this week. She told
- 43:25Speaker 6: me my future.
- 43:26Speaker 5: What what did she Maddie, you're marrying the lead. We
- 43:29Speaker 5: just wrapping the episode.
- 43:30Speaker 6: What did she say? Well, I mean like mostly she
- 43:33Speaker 6: said I was meeting my person this year, so the
- 43:36Speaker 6: dating series. She didn't say when, but she said very soon.
- 43:40Speaker 6: And she said I'm gonna have two babies, which I
- 43:41Speaker 6: found wild. Oh my god, that's probably the most profound thing.
- 43:46Speaker 4: Was she like accurate?
- 43:48Speaker 6: Well, I don't know because it hasn't happened yet.
- 43:52Speaker 5: Well, we can be two babies.
- 43:53Speaker 6: Yeah. But she did say some really profound things about
- 43:56Speaker 6: my ex, which I found like, yeah, because I had
- 43:59Speaker 6: a really toxic relationship the last one. And I said
- 44:01Speaker 6: her name and then she just went, oh, I just
- 44:04Speaker 6: feel like I have to vomit, and.
- 44:05Speaker 4: I want to tell you something. It was me and
- 44:07Speaker 4: a wig, al she makes me more vomit. Go with
- 44:16Speaker 4: the guy.
- 44:23Speaker 5: I love it.
- 44:26Speaker 4: Thank you so much chicks for having us in your
- 44:28Speaker 4: ear holes.
- 44:29Speaker 2: We absolutely little to be here, and if you know
- 44:32Speaker 2: anyone else that needs little pick me up.
- 44:34Speaker 4: Whereas having a bad day.
- 44:35Speaker 5: Feel free to check on this episode or chuck it
- 44:37Speaker 5: in the group cha yet also go follow Maddie Where
- 44:40Speaker 5: can they Get You?
- 44:41Speaker 6: Maddie McCrae, bind me And thanks to m I k
- 44:43Speaker 6: Made for making today's episode happened.
- 44:46Speaker 3: Bye Chick, Bye bye
