  SPEAKER_03: So the Conquers, man, they just keep rolling.

  SPEAKER_03: What is your opinion of the Conquers at this point in the season?

  SPEAKER_02: I mean, I I was hoping, you know, we keep wanting them to have a close game, but man, how good are they?

  SPEAKER_02: They're just whoever you put in front of them, they're gonna beat.

  SPEAKER_02: So um, I didn't get to see the game, but uh it sounded like they were passing the ball nice, and uh they they play defense very well, and they make a ton of plays on special teams.

  SPEAKER_03: They have a batch of really good seniors that have played four years.

  SPEAKER_03: But the good news for Cat City is every game in the league is gonna be a competitive game.

  SPEAKER_03: So Desert Hot Springs kind of does what we expected them to do.

  SPEAKER_03: They kind of go into Indio and get a pretty handle handle win.

  SPEAKER_03: They were up 3-0 at the beginning.

  SPEAKER_03: I've heard that Indio's defense was playing pretty well.

  SPEAKER_02: Um the fact that they can hang with with Desert Hot Springs, obviously.

  SPEAKER_03: So that was uh Lakinta Blackhawks were pretty impressive in their opening game in DEL.

  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think Shadow Hills kind of ran into a buzzsaw.

  SPEAKER_02: I think La Quinta was just humming on all cylinders, uh, running game going, passing game going, and then uh defense was flying around.

  SPEAKER_02: Um, I don't remember the last time uh Laquinthas had this many interceptions halfway through the point that's uh the midseason, you know.

  SPEAKER_02: And that's just a sign that the that's the scheme they're running, the kids are familiar with.

  SPEAKER_02: Uh there's not a lot of confusion on the back end.

  SPEAKER_02: And um the kids are playing really, really well.

  SPEAKER_02: Um it was it was if you're a laquinta fan, it was nice to see.

  SPEAKER_02: Um if you're a Shadow Hills fan fan, but uh they're playing good football, they're making really good plays, they're just not putting it all together, just missing a couple pieces, whether it's execution or penalties.

  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, there's a couple on the um but just yeah, La Quinta's looking nice.

  SPEAKER_02: And we we we knew that, you know, they lost some games uh in the preseason, but we knew they were playing good football, and I think this is kind of shows.

  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, uh sometimes they have him at end, sometimes they'll put him on uh at D tackle, um, just playing lights out on the defense and then on the offense, he's a tight end.

  SPEAKER_02: So if you see that guy squirt through and he's 50 yards downfield, it's more than likely that tight end came and sealed that that middle backer, and um, he's doing a great job.

  SPEAKER_02: I heard a little bit about I heard about the kick, the the block field goal, that the refs blew dead, and um uh just uh have that happen and then still keep your kids fighting in a close game like that and come out with a victory.

  SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so this game marked the return of two superstars in our community.

  SPEAKER_03: Sam Moorhez from like Xavier Prep was finally eligible to play.

  SPEAKER_03: And then we had Tank Smith come back also off of off of uh injury, come back for his first game.

  SPEAKER_03: So we had two stars aligned that they came back in the same game.

  SPEAKER_03: Tank was you know, he looked like himself.

  SPEAKER_02: And you always wonder about when when someone comes back from an injury, if they're in game shape and he he looked like he was flying around.

  SPEAKER_03: Tank tank, uh, he did he did his thing, he he put on the highlight reel in the first half.

  SPEAKER_03: Um, and so Sam Moore uh Moorhis had a tough opening quarter, turned the ball over.

  SPEAKER_03: But uh second half, that dude came out and he led the team.

  SPEAKER_03: He took the first drive, he ran the first one in, and that guy's every bit of six four, 240 pounds.

  SPEAKER_03: So he came and he opened the scoring for Xavier Prep, and then you could just kind of feel the confidence come back to the offense.

  SPEAKER_03: Um, you know, and it was just it was a great defensive battle.

  SPEAKER_02: Isn't that funny how like the kids will rally around someone or someone that's playing really good, and then all of a sudden they're able to make some plays, and then everybody else just starts to play better around them.

  SPEAKER_03: So yeah, and more like he definitely changed the dynamic of the game, just his presence alone in that second half.

  SPEAKER_03: Um, they they came down, he let them on another drive trick play from Mejia to Palem to kind of take the lead.

  SPEAKER_03: The difference in the game was an extra point.

  SPEAKER_03: Palm Springs got one blocked, and that was the difference.

  SPEAKER_03: And they special teams, they came down to specialty.

  SPEAKER_03: Otherwise, it's an even game.

  SPEAKER_03: Pawn Springs even had a chance to kind of go down there and score again.

  SPEAKER_03: Uh Sean Mesa had a great game.

  SPEAKER_03: He got down, they got down to about the 10-yard line and then just couldn't punch it in.

  SPEAKER_03: I think they got a penalty, and Xavier Prep stopped them, and it just came down to that one extra point, you know.

  SPEAKER_03: So all you guys out there, when us coaches get on you for the little things, little things will cost you a game.

  SPEAKER_03: You know, you you look at that extra point in the first quarter that they get blocked, though, it's not a big deal.

  SPEAKER_02: Especially it's close games, man.

  SPEAKER_02: And as a coach, how much time do you want to spend on special teams in the regular practice?

  SPEAKER_02: And um, it it's it's it's one of the more fascinating things for me to watch how head coaches get their special teams work in every day.

  SPEAKER_02: Do you do a little bit of it each day?

  SPEAKER_02: There's a lot of different um theories that I've seen.

  SPEAKER_02: Um, but you got to spend some time on special teams, it's very, very important.

  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's the third, third rail of the of the whether it's punt returned, uh, kickoff, it all matters.

  SPEAKER_03: So the little things, guys, even all you players out there, when we get on you as coaches and think we're crazy and lunatics because you didn't do this one thing.

  SPEAKER_03: And it comes down, especially in league, it matters.

  SPEAKER_03: So that it came down to special teams, and that was the difference.
