- 0:19Speaker 1: Return to Glory podcast.
- 0:20Speaker 2: It's game week, Hunter Jardin, Niki Dakota Free Tag Austin
- 0:25Speaker 2: will hopefully be joining us here in a moment. Fact,
- 0:29Speaker 2: we've made it college football's back case state. Iowa State
- 0:33Speaker 2: kicked off in Ireland in Week one Nebraska Cincinnati Thursday night,
- 0:38Speaker 2: Arrowhead Stadium.
- 0:41Speaker 3: Finally we finally made it. And I don't know what
- 0:45Speaker 3: it is about the Ireland game. It always ends up
- 0:47Speaker 3: being a great game. There's been one that's bad, that
- 0:50Speaker 3: was bad, but usually it's always a great game.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Rank first ranked game over there the first time I believe,
- 0:59Speaker 2: and I mean you made the comment to me after
- 1:01Speaker 2: watching the game. We're overly impressed with these two teams.
- 1:06Speaker 2: They are obviously both in the Big twelve and ran
- 1:10Speaker 2: Cincinnati also in the Big twelve. Was a good game,
- 1:14Speaker 2: low lower scoring. I have a state coming out on top.
- 1:18Speaker 2: But yeah, if that's the sign of where Cincinnati is at,
- 1:21Speaker 2: I got to make you feel better as a Husker fan.
- 1:29Speaker 4: Does it? Maybe that Nati's one of the best Big
- 1:32Speaker 4: Full teams.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Who knows, Maybe if you want to look at it
- 1:35Speaker 2: from that angle, you could. We're gonna have a guest
- 1:38Speaker 2: on here today Kimbell post is gonna be joining us.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Kendall's a big Chiefs fan, goes to a lot of
- 1:44Speaker 2: the Chiefs games.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Going to give us some.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Insight on the tailgating, seeing the parking, and how everything
- 1:53Speaker 2: is gonna work down an arrowhead. Before we get to that,
- 1:56Speaker 2: we're gonna talk some of the big news and headlines
- 1:59Speaker 2: here around Cincinnati, but specifically the depth chart that was
- 2:04Speaker 2: released late last week, and there's definitely some talking points here,
- 2:13Speaker 2: some some key things to point out. I'm gonna start
- 2:17Speaker 2: with a first thing here with a quarterback situation, which
- 2:22Speaker 2: we all knew Dylan Royola was going to be listed.
- 2:26Speaker 2: There's number one, but the number two might surprise some people,
- 2:29Speaker 2: and there's no ores at the quarterback, and actually not
- 2:34Speaker 2: too many throughout the depth chart.
- 2:36Speaker 1: TJ.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Leatiith the freshman the true number two, and the main
- 2:42Speaker 2: reasoning it sounds like is his lenks.
- 2:46Speaker 1: He can he can move a little bit.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Grahamstead is a senior transfer who everybody probably assumed.
- 2:53Speaker 4: Would be That's what I thought it was gonna be
- 2:55Speaker 4: number two.
- 2:56Speaker 2: So it's interesting like maybe that maybe that's something you know,
- 3:00Speaker 2: you keep a guy around more, you know he's second.
- 3:02Speaker 2: But maybe he's He's like, this is the guy we
- 3:05Speaker 2: want at the number two spot in DJ latif who
- 3:08Speaker 2: is who has looked good throughout the spring in the fall.
- 3:11Speaker 2: So is he?
- 3:15Speaker 3: I don't know much about him. Is he mainly just
- 3:18Speaker 3: a runner? And can he actually throw the ball some?
- 3:20Speaker 3: I haven't heard bigger Graham stats than the number two.
- 3:23Speaker 3: I didn't even study the other.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Guy, correct, I mean I think he's he's more of
- 3:29Speaker 2: a runner, but.
- 3:33Speaker 1: I do think that he can throw it some. To you,
- 3:35Speaker 1: he is a freshman. You gotta remember that he's he.
- 3:40Speaker 4: Maybe they'll use him as a weapon, like in different ways.
- 3:44Speaker 1: If it comes to that.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Yes, I'm hoping that we will not have to use
- 3:53Speaker 2: him because Dylan is comedy the all time. I do
- 3:56Speaker 2: not think it's a Heinrich Harberg situation where.
- 4:01Speaker 1: He is going to get a few snaps here. That's
- 4:04Speaker 1: not the case.
- 4:05Speaker 2: But yeah, it's important to note that if something were
- 4:08Speaker 2: to happen, he's probably our next best option. So he
- 4:15Speaker 2: he is a KI from California and in a very mobile,
- 4:19Speaker 2: athletic type of quarterback which again a little different maybe
- 4:23Speaker 2: than what Dylan brings to the table, and can use
- 4:26Speaker 2: some some of them been in a little bit different way,
- 4:32Speaker 2: staying on the on the offense here the offensive line,
- 4:35Speaker 2: and this was the one position that I don't think anybody,
- 4:37Speaker 2: i mean really knew how it was going to play
- 4:40Speaker 2: out and where everybody was going to be at an
- 4:42Speaker 2: important to note that like Lutowski got named to captain
- 4:47Speaker 2: as well, which was also sent to Big Ten media days,
- 4:50Speaker 2: he's starting at left guard.
- 4:51Speaker 1: I'll get back to left tackle.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Justin Evans has expected our center, Spindler has expected our
- 4:56Speaker 2: right guard. At the right tackle spot, it's an or
- 5:01Speaker 2: between Teddy Prohosk and Tyler Kannak and then the left
- 5:05Speaker 2: tackle between Gunner Gatula, Turner, Corker and Elijah Pritchett all
- 5:10Speaker 2: listed as or.
- 5:10Speaker 1: So that tackle.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Position we didn't know either what was gonna shake out there.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Elijah Pritchett was maybe the one that was assumed because
- 5:19Speaker 2: we paid him so much money the transfer from Alabama.
- 5:22Speaker 2: He's actually listed at the bottom, but they all are
- 5:24Speaker 2: ors there. The depth here is what speaks I think
- 5:29Speaker 2: you can read into who's listed first, second, third, But yeah,
- 5:34Speaker 2: the point there's a lot of guys here that are
- 5:36Speaker 2: playing or potentially playing.
- 5:41Speaker 3: Yeah, I I mean this is it pretty much came
- 5:48Speaker 3: out how we thought it was gonna be. But that
- 5:49Speaker 3: that right tackle position, I'm surprised. The guy I can't
- 5:52Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't think it's name, but the
- 5:54Speaker 3: got my Alabama is not for sure the starter.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Yeah, Elijah Pritchett at left tackle. He I've heard mixed
- 6:03Speaker 2: things like that. I was listening to a national podcast
- 6:05Speaker 2: recently on Alabama and they're talking about him transferring and
- 6:08Speaker 2: they're like, well, he sucks anyways.
- 6:10Speaker 1: So I don't I don't know.
- 6:13Speaker 2: I don't even see him play, like, I haven't watched
- 6:16Speaker 2: many clips of him, but it sounds like that, you know,
- 6:19Speaker 2: maybe this is.
- 6:20Speaker 1: The guy that you want, you're hoping maybe would come along.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Maybe he's not as much, but yeah, I mean, we've
- 6:28Speaker 2: heard good things about Gunner Gatula and he's just a sophomore.
- 6:30Speaker 2: We obviously have seen Turner Corcoran I'm on the left side,
- 6:33Speaker 2: and we've seen Teddy Prohaska. You know, you hope Teddy
- 6:36Speaker 2: can stay healthy and not get injured like he had
- 6:41Speaker 2: had the past few years. And then Tyler Kanak another
- 6:43Speaker 2: another guy that you know, I didn't think maybe would
- 6:46Speaker 2: be sniffing the starting spot, but he's there going into
- 6:49Speaker 2: game week, and like I said, I think it what
- 6:52Speaker 2: it does is at these tackle positions, you know it's
- 6:57Speaker 2: next man, not mentality, not just injuries, but you got
- 7:01Speaker 2: to perform like there's other guys knocking on the door
- 7:03Speaker 2: if you're playing I.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Mean tackles, Yeah, usually have the most injuries, like of
- 7:07Speaker 3: any old lineman.
- 7:08Speaker 4: I would say.
- 7:10Speaker 3: Another thing I noticed was you got some the starters
- 7:14Speaker 3: on the line are big.
- 7:17Speaker 4: Wait wise, like I we all said this on.
- 7:22Speaker 3: The pre or like the preview pod where you're doing positions,
- 7:26Speaker 3: I think, I think you're on line and it's been
- 7:29Speaker 3: a long time since you say this.
- 7:31Speaker 4: Not worried about it all.
- 7:34Speaker 1: I agree.
- 7:34Speaker 2: You look at the just the weight and I saw
- 7:37Speaker 2: this on social media as well. You start circling down
- 7:40Speaker 2: the line, everybody's over three hundred on the step chart
- 7:44Speaker 2: and and and usually that's a good sign. When you're
- 7:48Speaker 2: talking about the offensive line, I always caution it with
- 7:53Speaker 2: they gotta be able to move still, you gotta be
- 7:56Speaker 2: able to have good feet and blow people off the ball.
- 8:00Speaker 2: I don't think you want to have a bunch of
- 8:01Speaker 2: six seven, six eight big dudes that can't move. But yeah,
- 8:08Speaker 2: it's it's a very from a depth chart statistic side,
- 8:14Speaker 2: it's a very big and strong line, uh tight end.
- 8:20Speaker 5: You know.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Luke Lindenmeer is the starting nod there, which kind of
- 8:25Speaker 2: expected a Heinrid Harberg and Carter Nelson. You're going to
- 8:27Speaker 2: see them on the field too, uh, in various packages.
- 8:32Speaker 1: The wider seer position came in surprising.
- 8:37Speaker 3: Oh little, well, we didn't. We didn't know about that
- 8:41Speaker 3: third position yet.
- 8:44Speaker 1: I think everybody assumed I mean, and I say a hunter. Yeah,
- 8:48Speaker 1: I thought it would, but.
- 8:50Speaker 4: We assume that. But there was a nice battlegroun on
- 8:54Speaker 4: there night.
- 8:56Speaker 3: I mean, your two star transfers from from from your
- 9:01Speaker 3: y resition are it's gonna be playing a lot. It
- 9:04Speaker 3: seems like Dankey and then uh yeah in Isaiah.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Yeah, and and j Cory Barney obviously we knew he'd
- 9:10Speaker 2: be the slot guy. Jan Iron Bonner the other slot
- 9:12Speaker 2: guy that we've heard good things about too. So you're
- 9:16Speaker 2: gonna see all these guys Quinn Clark and Cortes Mills,
- 9:19Speaker 2: two freshmen that are kind of the four or five
- 9:22Speaker 2: guys that you'll see on the field, and some more
- 9:25Speaker 2: spread packages. I think those guys are very athletic type
- 9:30Speaker 2: of dudes. Quinn Clark is more gonna be more of
- 9:32Speaker 2: your I think more maybe your possession guy. He's he's
- 9:36Speaker 2: sixty five, it's sixty five target and we don't see
- 9:40Speaker 2: those a lot of times at the receiver position there.
- 9:42Speaker 2: So oh and then I guess we gotta mention running back.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Maybe a surprise, maybe not to some people. Emmitt Johnson,
- 9:52Speaker 2: mckaind Nelson, Isaiah Mosey, quinnin Ives, no oars listed. So
- 9:57Speaker 2: there's your pecking order right there. We knew Emmett was
- 10:00Speaker 2: probably going to be that starting position. But the other
- 10:03Speaker 2: three with mkaik Nelson, Isaiah Mosy, and Quinton Ives. I
- 10:07Speaker 2: think maybe the biggest disappointment here with Quentin Ives falling
- 10:13Speaker 2: to four, But I think that was the trending that
- 10:18Speaker 2: we were hearing. But maybe that's a good thing. Maybe
- 10:20Speaker 2: that means Isaiah Mosy and McKain Nelson are two guys
- 10:23Speaker 2: that you know, freshman retro freshmen impressing people.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Maybe that's a.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Good thing that you know they they have climbed versus
- 10:31Speaker 2: Quentin and Ives falling.
- 10:33Speaker 3: That's that's the biggest surprise I thought from the chart
- 10:35Speaker 3: was there's no oars in your running back like it's
- 10:37Speaker 3: it's pretty dead set, which.
- 10:42Speaker 4: I think they might have done.
- 10:43Speaker 3: That because last year basically revolving do it running back.
- 10:46Speaker 3: I think they were just like, hey, let's let's have
- 10:48Speaker 3: it solid here. I've won two, three, four, Just have
- 10:52Speaker 3: him solid and know what we're doing it running back basically, Jack.
- 10:56Speaker 2: What do you think that means? I mean, we talk
- 10:58Speaker 2: about Emmitt Johnson in the past, and we talked about
- 11:01Speaker 2: multiple running backs last year when we had four guys
- 11:04Speaker 2: that still going into the first game. But we think
- 11:07Speaker 2: Emma Johnson and we see here is the clear cut one.
- 11:09Speaker 2: What does that mean for touches a game? What do
- 11:11Speaker 2: you think average per game.
- 11:13Speaker 4: That he's getting.
- 11:18Speaker 3: Probably you gotta think twenty carries plus good because he
- 11:23Speaker 3: seems like he seems like he's your clear cut number
- 11:25Speaker 3: one like the other the other guys are there too,
- 11:29Speaker 3: And I don't know, but twenty touches game three or
- 11:34Speaker 3: four catches probably so probably twenty twenty twenty five touches
- 11:38Speaker 3: a game.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think that's an unrealistic thought there. I
- 11:42Speaker 2: think that the freshman the big concern here is it's
- 11:48Speaker 2: going to be their lack of experience in playing at
- 11:51Speaker 2: this at this level, at this pace, at this physicality,
- 11:54Speaker 2: and number one thing that was on rules agenda when
- 11:58Speaker 2: he got here from running backs is checking the ball,
- 12:01Speaker 2: and Emma Johnson had to go went through all that.
- 12:04Speaker 1: You know, you hope that.
- 12:05Speaker 2: He's sound in protecting the football. These freshmen, that's where
- 12:10Speaker 2: that's where you get a little bit concerned. Is all right,
- 12:13Speaker 2: like can't cough it up? And if that starts happening
- 12:18Speaker 2: when they get their opportunity. Emtt's been just going to
- 12:22Speaker 2: get more opportunities as long as he's healthy. That's always
- 12:25Speaker 2: your scare though, is the more carries you give a guy,
- 12:28Speaker 2: you know, the more opportunity and the more wear and
- 12:30Speaker 2: tear you have.
- 12:31Speaker 1: So I think the running back room is solid. Quentin Eyes,
- 12:38Speaker 1: I think it is still your bruiser.
- 12:39Speaker 2: I still think you'll potentially see him on goal line
- 12:42Speaker 2: type of downs.
- 12:44Speaker 1: But you made that comment.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Before when you get down the goal line, like who's
- 12:48Speaker 2: getting the ball.
- 12:51Speaker 4: Probably yeah, I think Emmett, but I don't.
- 12:59Speaker 3: These younger guys. You want to work him in, but
- 13:03Speaker 3: I don't know if you want to work him in
- 13:04Speaker 3: the first very first game of the year. I think
- 13:09Speaker 3: I think Game one, it'll be mostly touching the ball,
- 13:12Speaker 3: these younger freshmen. I feel like though, these two games
- 13:15Speaker 3: after that are gonna play quite a bit just to
- 13:17Speaker 3: get him some playing time and get him in. Yeah,
- 13:22Speaker 3: I think. I think that's when you'll see those guys
- 13:23Speaker 3: most is Game two and three.
- 13:28Speaker 2: On the defensive side of the ball, I think the
- 13:30Speaker 2: secondary pretty much locked in Stone. I think that the
- 13:39Speaker 2: five guys that were listed there in the three three
- 13:42Speaker 2: five experienced you know, all seniors, Andrew Marshall and junior
- 13:48Speaker 2: and then Rex Guthrie, who Matt Ruhle said that would
- 13:53Speaker 2: be starting on several other.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Power programs.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Obviously the red shirt freshman, but he's behind a bunch
- 14:01Speaker 2: of guys that have played a lot of snaps on
- 14:05Speaker 2: that side of the ball for us, So that that
- 14:09Speaker 2: I think came in as expected.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I wasn't too surprised about the defense side of
- 14:13Speaker 3: the ball at all. I I mean, it was pretty
- 14:17Speaker 3: solid going in with what you knew, and there wasn't
- 14:20Speaker 3: There wasn't too much surprising on that side I thought.
- 14:25Speaker 2: I mean, I think the linebackers, you know, Tosa mccola
- 14:28Speaker 2: coming from Boomers soon or Oklahoma, you know, he's.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Expected to start.
- 14:35Speaker 2: That's not surprise, Mark, He's Watson, Watson, Trent and Vincent
- 14:38Speaker 2: Shavers and or there at the other linebacker spot.
- 14:41Speaker 1: And then you know Jave and Wright.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Jacob Bower listed their second at that other linebacker spot.
- 14:49Speaker 1: So those are the names.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Those are the guys you'll be seeing on the field
- 14:53Speaker 2: to come Thursday. There and then the defensive line. You
- 14:56Speaker 2: know there's an or listed on the one defensive end spot,
- 15:01Speaker 2: but basically meaning that there they'll they'll be out there, Yeah,
- 15:05Speaker 2: Williams when Aery and Cameron Ledhart, Elijah Judy is gonna
- 15:10Speaker 2: play that nose guard spot with Riley Van Poppel and
- 15:13Speaker 2: Keyona Davis playing the other defensive tackle spot. Jalen George,
- 15:17Speaker 2: you'll price see him. To all these guys you're gonna see.
- 15:19Speaker 2: I think the defensive line is the quote unquote concern
- 15:23Speaker 2: for a lot of people going into the year.
- 15:26Speaker 1: So that are some of the names you'll be here
- 15:28Speaker 1: and come Thursday.
- 15:30Speaker 4: Yeah, you're your D line. I wouldn't think too much
- 15:34Speaker 4: in that or it's always good to.
- 15:40Speaker 3: Have more depth on D line because that's I feel
- 15:43Speaker 3: like that's position that you you rotate a lot of
- 15:44Speaker 3: players on your d line. The more depth I guess
- 15:51Speaker 3: you bet, the better, But I guess we'll find out
- 15:53Speaker 3: if it's if.
- 15:53Speaker 4: It's on their or because one of them just wasn't
- 16:00Speaker 4: as talented as you want. Is number one, and.
- 16:02Speaker 2: I think more and more now with the defensive line,
- 16:05Speaker 2: guys can just stay fresh and it sometimes can get
- 16:09Speaker 2: to a point and I'm just not talking Nebraska, any
- 16:11Speaker 2: any football game where you get to a point where
- 16:14Speaker 2: you're like, why is the best player done out there? Well,
- 16:18Speaker 2: they coaches try to keep these guys moving through and
- 16:22Speaker 2: you can't have a big drop off.
- 16:24Speaker 1: So depth is a big thing here.
- 16:28Speaker 2: You hope that we have that with some of these
- 16:30Speaker 2: guys that are listed the three, three, five. I think
- 16:32Speaker 2: also helps that you can be very creative and move
- 16:35Speaker 2: some other guys down, move that jack position down, make
- 16:38Speaker 2: them look more like a four to three.
- 16:41Speaker 1: You can do a lot of different things.
- 16:42Speaker 2: So I do think that that that's a positive overall.
- 16:46Speaker 2: But we'll see come Thursday what the defensive line is
- 16:49Speaker 2: made of against Cincinnati. Any other depth chart considerations here.
- 17:01Speaker 4: Big surprise, Archie Wilson's your pawner.
- 17:05Speaker 2: We did not talk special teams, but yes, Archie, our punter.
- 17:13Speaker 2: It looks like if we still have an ore for
- 17:16Speaker 2: the kicking position, which.
- 17:19Speaker 4: Which that's that's going to be kind of like basically
- 17:23Speaker 4: still in tryouts in the middle of sea or in
- 17:25Speaker 4: the season basically for kicker. I feel like I and
- 17:27Speaker 4: I don't mind it.
- 17:28Speaker 2: Like kicker is one of those things like you do
- 17:31Speaker 2: whether you want to say you got to give the
- 17:33Speaker 2: guy confidence what you don't get many opportunities. If if
- 17:37Speaker 2: Canadian gets the first kit, great, go out and make
- 17:39Speaker 2: the sucker Like I don't think you want to punish
- 17:41Speaker 2: the guy if for missing one field goal. But at
- 17:44Speaker 2: the same time, if you have two guys that are
- 17:46Speaker 2: very very close, find the one that's mentally tough enough
- 17:49Speaker 2: to get through some of that mental side of kicking.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Yeah, and then go in and just drill it.
- 17:55Speaker 2: John Hole, you know, did that against Ohio State and
- 17:58Speaker 2: kind of put himself there. Now we we bring in
- 18:01Speaker 2: a guy that is of equal talent as him, So
- 18:06Speaker 2: let's see you can get through that the mental hurdle
- 18:07Speaker 2: kicking yew thanks for mentioning Archie and then our kicker turners,
- 18:12Speaker 2: punt returners Jackry Barney and Andrew Marshall.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Our guys returning punts. I'm kicker turner.
- 18:18Speaker 2: You're you're gonna see Isaiah Mosey back there and mckaid
- 18:21Speaker 2: nelson back there returning kicks. So in addition to being
- 18:24Speaker 2: the backup running back spots, they're gonna be back there
- 18:27Speaker 2: along with Kenneth Williams returning some.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Kicks and our.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Big time transfer portal number one in the year, Kevin
- 18:36Speaker 2: Gaelic the long snapper. As expected, if you're going to
- 18:40Speaker 2: get a guy out of the portal for long snapping,
- 18:42Speaker 2: he's probably gonna start now.
- 18:45Speaker 3: Now we talked about this, ja Corey Barney is your
- 18:50Speaker 3: return kick returner. I'm not you said play your best
- 18:55Speaker 3: players at their position. Are you worried about me playing
- 18:59Speaker 3: him a bit too much in getting him hurt back there?
- 19:02Speaker 2: No, this is the kind of guy that I want
- 19:05Speaker 2: that the returning punts. I mean, I'm not at all.
- 19:08Speaker 2: I think when you have an explosive athletic guy, and
- 19:11Speaker 2: and I'll be honest with you, Cory Barney's I think
- 19:15Speaker 2: what you want you want guys for turning punts like
- 19:18Speaker 2: well Austin mentioned it in a previous podcast and coming
- 19:21Speaker 2: from Eckler, but you want those guys to be shifty
- 19:24Speaker 2: and then have a huge.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Burst of speed.
- 19:28Speaker 2: He's perfect for that, yes, And I mean you even
- 19:31Speaker 2: just looking at size wise on the depth chart, he's
- 19:33Speaker 2: he's six seventy.
- 19:36Speaker 1: He's not six foot. I'll taste like that.
- 19:38Speaker 3: No, but he's listed at six foot. That's like me
- 19:42Speaker 3: saying I'm six foot.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Uh yeah, so's he is listed there.
- 19:48Speaker 1: But well, I mean we'll see.
- 19:49Speaker 2: I think he's the perfect guy you want out there
- 19:51Speaker 2: or turning punts and I I mean, put your best play.
- 19:54Speaker 2: We need we need something to happen on the punt
- 19:55Speaker 2: return game like and he's someone that has a little
- 19:58Speaker 2: bit of experience from last year. We need to have
- 20:02Speaker 2: a return game this year and hopefully get us a
- 20:05Speaker 2: better field position and maybe a couple of touchdowns.
- 20:08Speaker 1: But maybe that's asking too much.
- 20:11Speaker 4: I don't know. Yeah, it's I the kicker position.
- 20:16Speaker 3: I wouldn't be too worried about I guess, like you said,
- 20:21Speaker 3: it's I guess it's better to have two or three
- 20:26Speaker 3: guys there, like you said, because mentally wise, once one
- 20:29Speaker 3: of them goes.
- 20:30Speaker 4: Shot, you can pull.
- 20:35Speaker 3: You can pull the one guy that's not doing well,
- 20:36Speaker 3: I guess, and not be worried about it.
- 20:39Speaker 2: And maybe we're past the days of worrying about catching
- 20:41Speaker 2: it and just fielding it.
- 20:45Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know.
- 20:45Speaker 3: I I think, are you Are you worried about your
- 20:53Speaker 3: kicker going in the year basically?
- 20:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean yeah, I would be. Yeah, I just
- 21:03Speaker 2: think that we haven't had good kicking games. So until
- 21:07Speaker 2: I see it that we can make some field goals
- 21:10Speaker 2: I mean extra points hopefully. But it's not just the
- 21:13Speaker 2: kicking and also the.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Snapping in the holding.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Yeah, it's every it's everything, and we just we haven't
- 21:19Speaker 2: been good in that area in recent years, in several years,
- 21:23Speaker 2: and so yeah, like it is still a nervous spot.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Can you know, do I trust this having to you know,
- 21:30Speaker 2: make up down three with eight minutes to go and
- 21:33Speaker 2: have a forty five yard field goal? Do I trust
- 21:35Speaker 2: that that's going in? Absolutely not?
- 21:38Speaker 4: Not. Yeah, No, there's not a change.
- 21:41Speaker 3: So it's it's like you said, it's more of a
- 21:43Speaker 3: see it to believe it, like yes, like you gotta.
- 21:46Speaker 3: It'll be interesting to watch that position.
- 21:48Speaker 4: I think the most.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Okay switching Gears heroes move on to Cincinnati.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Talk a little bit.
- 21:55Speaker 2: So before we get deeper into Cincinnati, I want to
- 21:58Speaker 2: first this just discuss game ones, and this is general for.
- 22:03Speaker 1: Any team in football. What do you like? And I
- 22:09Speaker 1: think there's multiple opinions on this. What do you like?
- 22:12Speaker 2: What's the ideal game one? If you're back, if you're
- 22:15Speaker 2: the head coach of Carlton State University and.
- 22:20Speaker 1: You said, they say, what do you want to do
- 22:22Speaker 1: with your schedule? What do you want? How do you
- 22:24Speaker 1: want it to look?
- 22:25Speaker 2: What do you want to do with your game one?
- 22:29Speaker 3: I I personally hate playing decent teams week one because
- 22:38Speaker 3: because like I said last time, week ones are sloppy,
- 22:41Speaker 3: and we just saw that with Case State. I would say,
- 22:43Speaker 3: very sloppy game like, like you're gonna have penalties and
- 22:47Speaker 3: it's just gonna be it's gonna be sloppy.
- 22:49Speaker 4: Now, what I want game one is you at least.
- 22:59Speaker 3: You want team to look solid. I guess week one.
- 23:05Speaker 4: I don't know. I'm I'm also big you can't take
- 23:09Speaker 4: way much from week one.
- 23:11Speaker 6: I don't.
- 23:12Speaker 3: I just think it's a sloppy shit show basically week one,
- 23:17Speaker 3: no matter what the team is.
- 23:19Speaker 2: So there's two sides of that too. Because you mentioned
- 23:23Speaker 2: k State Iowa State. The big thing in week one
- 23:30Speaker 2: is both teams are in the same situation, and so
- 23:33Speaker 2: both teams are don't know what to expect. You don't
- 23:37Speaker 2: you have an idea of what the other team is
- 23:39Speaker 2: going to do from the previous year. New coaches throw
- 23:42Speaker 2: another wrinkle into that. But you don't have a lot
- 23:45Speaker 2: of prep on the other team.
- 23:51Speaker 1: In my mind, I mean, we've done enough of these.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Similar type opponents, even though we've been favored in a
- 23:59Speaker 2: lot of them, that yeah, I'm with you, like I
- 24:02Speaker 2: want cupcakes, Like I I truly want teams that you
- 24:06Speaker 2: can go out and win a game. Yes, have a
- 24:11Speaker 2: preseason game, and and and when don't have to worry
- 24:13Speaker 2: about it. The concern behind that people will say, well,
- 24:21Speaker 2: you're not getting tested up front. Well, that's also a
- 24:24Speaker 2: good point because both teams, again are in this situation.
- 24:27Speaker 2: But when you're the team Nebraska, when we're the team
- 24:29Speaker 2: that constantly is sloppy and usually wins the battle of
- 24:34Speaker 2: who's sloppiest in these games, it doesn't end up well
- 24:38Speaker 2: for you.
- 24:39Speaker 1: And that's what's happened in all these games.
- 24:40Speaker 2: And so again, until we can prove that we are
- 24:44Speaker 2: clean efficient, you know, minimal penalties, not putting the ball
- 24:49Speaker 2: in the turf, then yeah, I don't I don't want
- 24:52Speaker 2: to play that.
- 24:52Speaker 1: That's why these games scare the living crap out of me.
- 24:55Speaker 2: And if we lose Cincinnati, well it's talk about that
- 25:00Speaker 2: here later. But it's one of those things I don't.
- 25:02Speaker 2: I don't need to play these games to start the
- 25:04Speaker 2: year off. Now with two or three, I think that
- 25:06Speaker 2: they're not horrible, but even real setate in the new
- 25:08Speaker 2: playoff system, do you need to play non conference games
- 25:12Speaker 2: that are even Power five power Probably don't.
- 25:15Speaker 4: No, I don't.
- 25:19Speaker 3: I personally don't take a lot from week one of
- 25:22Speaker 3: any team because you don't have preseason in college football.
- 25:27Speaker 3: It's it's basically like your warm up game, and it's
- 25:34Speaker 3: where where it's really sloppy is in week In week
- 25:36Speaker 3: one games, your old mine is gonna be sloppy, holdings,
- 25:39Speaker 3: a lot of holding penalties.
- 25:41Speaker 4: That's that.
- 25:41Speaker 3: That's the position group I think is the most sloppy
- 25:44Speaker 3: in week ones.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Agreed, all right, Well, we're gonna get to our interview
- 25:50Speaker 2: here with Kendall Post, Kansaity Chiefs fan also loyal listener
- 25:56Speaker 2: to the returna Glory Podcast. Yeah, we're here with Kendall
- 26:01Speaker 2: Post and Austin joining us here this morning for our
- 26:05Speaker 2: interview portion. Kendall is a big time Chiefs fan and
- 26:11Speaker 2: has gone to a lot of games down in Arrowhead.
- 26:14Speaker 2: He's also a loyal listener to the podcast. Kendall's wearing
- 26:18Speaker 2: his Chief's clothes here.
- 26:21Speaker 5: Super Bowl champions, come on? I know that can't wear like.
- 26:25Speaker 4: Wait wait wait season? Was it last year?
- 26:27Speaker 6: Oh?
- 26:28Speaker 5: No, it's actually the two years before that. Dad, I
- 26:31Speaker 5: don't know if you.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Saw, uh, Kendall. You go, you go to a lot
- 26:37Speaker 2: of games down in Arrowhead Stadium obviously where we're playing
- 26:40Speaker 2: on Thursday, and you're you know, your your parents set
- 26:44Speaker 2: up a nice tailgate every every week for the game.
- 26:48Speaker 1: I think what the people want to know here is
- 26:52Speaker 1: how's this all gonna work.
- 26:55Speaker 5: It's going to be interesting with Nebraska fans fans, I
- 26:59Speaker 5: think it'll be more communal this game compared to Chiefs games.
- 27:04Speaker 5: I mean, everybody's rooting for Nebraska Chiefs games. There's people
- 27:07Speaker 5: from out of state, people's first time ever in a stadium,
- 27:11Speaker 5: which a lot of people this year will happen with Nebraska.
- 27:14Speaker 5: There'll be a lot of people's first time at a
- 27:16Speaker 5: pro stadium. I think there's gonna be a lot more
- 27:19Speaker 5: community aspect like it is at Nebraska tailgates where people
- 27:22Speaker 5: are mingling all about and stuff and all that. But
- 27:25Speaker 5: it's gonna be a nice four hour pregame. Probably opens
- 27:30Speaker 5: up three. Start getting ready at about seven to go
- 27:33Speaker 5: in the game, so bring enough beer for four hours.
- 27:37Speaker 5: Basically is three o'clock.
- 27:42Speaker 2: So I looked last night. I saw three thirty.
- 27:47Speaker 5: Three thirty three. It depends on how many people are
- 27:50Speaker 5: waiting outside, because if there's too much traffic out there
- 27:53Speaker 5: and it backs up like towards the interstate, then they
- 27:56Speaker 5: just open it early. Sometimes it opens like an hour early.
- 27:59Speaker 5: But that's what Chiefs games. So there's more people. There's
- 28:02Speaker 5: crazier tailgators at Chiefs games. There's people with buses and everything.
- 28:06Speaker 5: Same with Nebraska, but I don't know if they're traveling down.
- 28:10Speaker 1: I think you might want to expect it. So that
- 28:12Speaker 1: was the question.
- 28:13Speaker 2: So three thirty is when the gates open, but as
- 28:16Speaker 2: far as lining up, and I wouldn't put it up
- 28:20Speaker 2: past the Braska fans, Oh, line.
- 28:22Speaker 1: It up, But they will open it early.
- 28:25Speaker 5: I believe, so yeah, they should. They usually do every
- 28:27Speaker 5: single Chiefs game if enough people are waiting there. The
- 28:31Speaker 5: thing is Chiefs games usually starting at noon to three
- 28:34Speaker 5: thirty sometimes seven, you know, But I mean they're there
- 28:38Speaker 5: before the sun rises a lot of times, which I
- 28:41Speaker 5: don't know why people sleep overnight in the line and
- 28:43Speaker 5: stuff which sounds ridiculous not gonna be happening this year.
- 28:47Speaker 5: I don't think it's terrible. How many tickets are sold?
- 28:53Speaker 5: Do you know? Because I see it.
- 28:55Speaker 4: Yeah, it's pulled out. Yeah I haven't not not yet.
- 29:02Speaker 5: Seventy six thousand. That's a that's a lo this Memorial
- 29:06Speaker 5: what's Memorial Stadium? Is it eighty eighty five five? I
- 29:11Speaker 5: still think, I still think this could be louder than
- 29:14Speaker 5: Memorial Stadium usually.
- 29:16Speaker 3: That's I was gonna ask, is you're talking me about it?
- 29:20Speaker 3: You it's more built for sound, it sounds like I
- 29:23Speaker 3: think so.
- 29:24Speaker 5: I mean, it's more straight up funneling the sound right
- 29:27Speaker 5: down in and the game's at eight pm. The Brassy
- 29:31Speaker 5: games don't out of state, and there's not going to
- 29:34Speaker 5: be many. I think four year olds are eighty five
- 29:37Speaker 5: year olds like there is in Memorial Stadium.
- 29:40Speaker 4: It's too late for four year olds.
- 29:44Speaker 5: Now there's people on Facebook complaining that it was eight
- 29:47Speaker 5: pm when the schedule released. How am I supposed to
- 29:49Speaker 5: take my two year old there to the game. We
- 29:52Speaker 5: don't that's how you do it. Don't do that.
- 29:54Speaker 6: It's an away game technically, and it's a Thursday night
- 29:57Speaker 6: after most people took Friday.
- 29:59Speaker 5: Off too, you know, you crazy person, not too. It's
- 30:05Speaker 5: gonna be over at what like eleven Yeah, and getting
- 30:09Speaker 5: out of that stadium is a pain to begin with.
- 30:13Speaker 5: And then you have everybody out of state not knowing
- 30:15Speaker 5: which way to go back to their hotels or home.
- 30:18Speaker 5: It's going to be a pain. I'm saying, get back
- 30:20Speaker 5: to the hotel room at like two am or something.
- 30:22Speaker 5: It's gonna be terrible.
- 30:24Speaker 2: What what is that again? Give you go background here
- 30:27Speaker 2: on the on the parking lot and how this all worked,
- 30:31Speaker 2: because I know, I mean I've heard how tailgating. You know,
- 30:36Speaker 2: you could open it up three thirty tailgate. Then what
- 30:39Speaker 2: happens throughout the next nine hours in the part.
- 30:43Speaker 5: Once you get in there, I mean, if you look
- 30:45Speaker 5: at the like overhead section of the Chiefs and Royals Stadium,
- 30:51Speaker 5: it looks terrible. It's just a huge parking lot, looks
- 30:53Speaker 5: like a giant Walmart out in the middle of nowhere.
- 30:56Speaker 5: So I mean, everybody there is drinking. There's no like
- 31:01Speaker 5: let's say, what's it called, like fan services or anything.
- 31:06Speaker 5: It's just a big parking lot. There's no concerts or
- 31:09Speaker 5: nothing like that. Once the Royal Stadium gets torn down,
- 31:12Speaker 5: then they're gonna have something like that. But the next
- 31:15Speaker 5: nine hours it's just a bunch of eating and drinking.
- 31:19Speaker 5: Some people have TVs, but it's not like Nebraska tailgates
- 31:21Speaker 5: where everybody has a TV set up or anything. So
- 31:25Speaker 5: there's that too, And I mean port potties, not enough
- 31:29Speaker 5: of them. I'll tell you that.
- 31:31Speaker 7: When the game starts, what happens, Well, game starts, well,
- 31:37Speaker 7: the thing is unlike Nebraska games, you can't really stay
- 31:40Speaker 7: out in the parking lot and tailgate.
- 31:43Speaker 5: I don't know about if it's gonna be the same
- 31:44Speaker 5: as Chiefs games, but there'll be people like riding around
- 31:47Speaker 5: in golf carts and stuff, checking if you're taking over
- 31:50Speaker 5: too much space in the parking lot and stuff. And
- 31:53Speaker 5: once the game starts, they'll come around and check if
- 31:55Speaker 5: people have tickets, because if you don't have a ticket,
- 31:58Speaker 5: I don't know what they do. If you don't have
- 31:59Speaker 5: a ticket but you're in the parking lot, I don't
- 32:01Speaker 5: know if you have to leave or something. But that's
- 32:03Speaker 5: a rule that you can't be in the parking lot
- 32:05Speaker 5: once like the game starts, if you don't have a ticket.
- 32:08Speaker 1: That's what I wonder, do they kick you out?
- 32:12Speaker 4: Like what?
- 32:12Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know what they would do that.
- 32:14Speaker 2: Lusker fans is going to be tough because if you
- 32:16Speaker 2: don't know that information. I mean, think about Nebraska tailgates.
- 32:20Speaker 2: People will just tailgate through the game and watch the game.
- 32:23Speaker 2: If it'll be interesting to see if that's allowed and
- 32:26Speaker 2: what will happen, or maybe they'll say, you know what,
- 32:28Speaker 2: there's too many people doing it that don't know what's
- 32:30Speaker 2: going on.
- 32:31Speaker 1: We just got to let it go.
- 32:33Speaker 5: I don't know where you go. You just leave everybody
- 32:35Speaker 5: that went to the game in and just leave the
- 32:37Speaker 5: parking lot. I have no idea. Hopefully that doesn't happen
- 32:41Speaker 5: to any of us. That's the main thing.
- 32:44Speaker 1: We should be in the game.
- 32:46Speaker 5: We should be. We should be.
- 32:49Speaker 4: Maybe knowing you.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Game gets over. You mentioned the chaos getting out of there.
- 32:57Speaker 2: I mean, what you spend your estimated time like im
- 33:00Speaker 2: it depending on where you're at right it.
- 33:02Speaker 5: Could yeah, over an hour, that is true to depending
- 33:06Speaker 5: if you park at the back parking lot. I mean
- 33:08Speaker 5: towards the exit'll be better front parking lot, I say
- 33:12Speaker 5: Alex Cruz too, He's just been saying people don't know
- 33:14Speaker 5: how to ziper merge. For Nebraska, they don't know how
- 33:16Speaker 5: to zipper merge. That's the main thing. I guess getting
- 33:19Speaker 5: out of the stadium. Usually I've had a couple of beers,
- 33:22Speaker 5: so I'm kind of asleep in the back seat and
- 33:24Speaker 5: then just arrived in the hotel. But man, there's some
- 33:28Speaker 5: years where it's just a standstill for just fifteen to
- 33:32Speaker 5: twenty minutes trying to get out of your parking spot.
- 33:36Speaker 5: But then some people just go back, depending if we
- 33:39Speaker 5: win or lose, some people go back and just drink
- 33:41Speaker 5: in the parking lot for a little bit some more
- 33:44Speaker 5: to waste some time until you get out. Is that allowed, Yes,
- 33:48Speaker 5: that is allowed. It's allowed, as in they don't stop you.
- 33:52Speaker 5: I don't know if it's like in the rule book
- 33:54Speaker 5: where you can do that just amount of time. I
- 33:59Speaker 5: don't grading, especially since it's an eight o'clock game. I
- 34:05Speaker 5: don't know, because I mean Chiefs games at noon get
- 34:08Speaker 5: over at three thirty and stuff, So then you can
- 34:10Speaker 5: be in there. I mean I've been in there for
- 34:13Speaker 5: another hour probably, but I don't know. Man, with it
- 34:17Speaker 5: being that late, seems like they're gonna want to be
- 34:20Speaker 5: ushering people out now. Cincinnati wins, they're gonna have let
- 34:26Speaker 5: those six thousand fans stay there and they won't even know.
- 34:28Speaker 5: I mean, we'll see about that.
- 34:32Speaker 1: So how do you go ahead?
- 34:34Speaker 4: How do you think the game's going to go?
- 34:38Speaker 5: Oh? God, I'll be honest, I'm very, very nervous about
- 34:43Speaker 5: this game. I've heard way too many good things from
- 34:46Speaker 5: people as they know. One's saying, oh, they don't have
- 34:49Speaker 5: a chance. Cincinnati does not have a chance. I mean
- 34:52Speaker 5: it's nine people say that. Other people, Oh, it could
- 34:56Speaker 5: be close, this is a possibility we can lose. I
- 35:00Speaker 5: mean I'm hoping we beat them double digits. What's the
- 35:04Speaker 5: spread now six and a half or is it yees plus?
- 35:07Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 35:08Speaker 5: I mean I could see us winning nicely. I could
- 35:11Speaker 5: see us winning by fourteen, But man, those first if
- 35:15Speaker 5: Cincinnati gets the ball just runs it down our throat
- 35:19Speaker 5: as a seven minute drive comes down, Oh my god,
- 35:25Speaker 5: I mean, right there, I kind of think the game's over.
- 35:27Speaker 5: Obviously we're gonna we're gonna battle back, try to, but man,
- 35:31Speaker 5: that's gonna demoralize us. Oh god, I'm just thinking of
- 35:35Speaker 5: the worst things right now. This is terrible. I'm want
- 35:37Speaker 5: this game to I want to be in the stadium
- 35:39Speaker 5: right now and have kickoff halfen.
- 35:41Speaker 1: I like doing this. This is how my brain works.
- 35:44Speaker 1: I want to go through.
- 35:46Speaker 2: The tail and scenarios here. So one being we lose,
- 35:53Speaker 2: like what what what happens to Nebraska fans like you,
- 35:58Speaker 2: yourself and everybody can answer this.
- 36:01Speaker 1: If we lose this game, Jesus.
- 36:04Speaker 5: What happened? Then all I'm thinking about is Michigan, he
- 36:08Speaker 5: kind of. I mean, if you lose this game, Michigan's
- 36:11Speaker 5: way better than Cincinnati. I mean they should be. But
- 36:15Speaker 5: then you're thinking you want to go into Michigan state
- 36:18Speaker 5: two and two and wonder if you're gonna win that game,
- 36:22Speaker 5: because hopefully we can be akron in HCU. I mean,
- 36:25Speaker 5: definitely hgu akron. If you go zero and two, call
- 36:29Speaker 5: the season often, you know, burn all your Husker gear.
- 36:33Speaker 5: But losing this game, if we lose by if we
- 36:38Speaker 5: lose by three points or twenty points, I think it's
- 36:40Speaker 5: the same. Yes, I think that matters.
- 36:43Speaker 1: Yes, Austin, what do you think?
- 36:45Speaker 6: I agree? I mean, we lose this game, it's gonna
- 36:52Speaker 6: be a sad scene. It's gonna be worse than probably
- 36:55Speaker 6: the Illinois game last I mean last year, the Illinois
- 36:58Speaker 6: game that over time just everyone was it was a
- 37:01Speaker 6: very sad group. This will be worse.
- 37:03Speaker 2: We've had some sad games, I mean very sad.
- 37:07Speaker 1: Bas be the worst one.
- 37:09Speaker 4: That's That's what's gonna say, is is this Northwestern's up
- 37:13Speaker 4: there for your first Yeah, I think this could be
- 37:17Speaker 4: the saddest.
- 37:19Speaker 5: It's gonna be such a cool atmosphere. It's gonna be
- 37:22Speaker 5: all set up for Nebraska. It's gonna be ninety Nebraska fantas.
- 37:25Speaker 6: Weather, it's gonna be great raining, I guess by then.
- 37:29Speaker 6: But yeah, everyone's going to travel down. The hype is
- 37:31Speaker 6: going to be.
- 37:33Speaker 5: It's an away game. I mean the homes Junior is
- 37:36Speaker 5: playing in touch Mahome's house drink.
- 37:40Speaker 4: There's there's hype every year.
- 37:43Speaker 3: Sometimes it's joking around, but this year, I feel like
- 37:46Speaker 3: there's actual hype with Nebraska football. And you lose, that's
- 37:50Speaker 3: out the window right away.
- 37:52Speaker 6: I I don't Nebraska's not gonna lose. I feel pretty good. No,
- 38:00Speaker 6: I feel for We're not gonna lose, but if we do,
- 38:03Speaker 6: they will boo the fans will book reaction. Yep.
- 38:08Speaker 2: So this is what I like, those the hype guys
- 38:12Speaker 2: and where the fan base is at, Like, yes there's hype,
- 38:15Speaker 2: Yes there's high expectations, but I do think people like
- 38:18Speaker 2: what Austin just that people are on the verge of
- 38:21Speaker 2: like saying, f this like all of it, and.
- 38:24Speaker 6: I drove down here, I spent money and.
- 38:27Speaker 1: And and that's not just this game.
- 38:29Speaker 2: That is the football program in general for however many
- 38:33Speaker 2: years and thinking like now everybody's like this is gonna work,
- 38:37Speaker 2: this is gonna work, We're gonna believe it. And the
- 38:39Speaker 2: second this game happens, it's gonna be it's like taking
- 38:42Speaker 2: a balloon and is shoving a needle into it. And
- 38:44Speaker 2: it's not gonna be a slow to flate. It's just
- 38:47Speaker 2: gonna explode. And it's I mean, people are going to
- 38:50Speaker 2: give up. And this is fans, but I'm talking players,
- 38:53Speaker 2: I'm talking coaches. The amount of deflating thoughts that are
- 38:57Speaker 2: gonna come in after a loss, like it's going to
- 39:00Speaker 2: be bigger than what people think. And then what Kendall
- 39:04Speaker 2: you said is important, then focus on Michigan that is
- 39:08Speaker 2: going to be so goddamn hard now, good news is
- 39:12Speaker 2: you have three weeks to do it, but so fricking
- 39:15Speaker 2: hard to mind to do that, Like player, I'm talking internally,
- 39:20Speaker 2: players and coaches because everything that you like are hyped
- 39:24Speaker 2: up about and looking forward to the season, and for
- 39:26Speaker 2: this first game, you're not playing a cakewalk like Dak
- 39:29Speaker 2: and I talked earlier. Oh that's that's that's the what
- 39:34Speaker 2: if lost to me, like wheels are gonna fall off?
- 39:38Speaker 4: Yea, So say sat Or Brandons game? How many day straight?
- 39:42Speaker 4: You're not sleep Hunter?
- 39:45Speaker 5: Definitely not that.
- 39:46Speaker 2: I don't know. I mean, my my balloon's already. My
- 39:49Speaker 2: balloon's slowly deflating right now. So this will just put
- 39:53Speaker 2: the nail on the coffin for it. On the flip side, guys,
- 39:57Speaker 2: I want to talk about this. What if Nebraska wins
- 40:02Speaker 2: thirty eight to ten. Oh what if obviously the expectation
- 40:07Speaker 2: was supposed going by touchdown ten points.
- 40:09Speaker 1: What if it's a blowout. What if we come out?
- 40:11Speaker 2: What if we score forty five and we win forty
- 40:13Speaker 2: five to thirteen.
- 40:16Speaker 5: I think I think you could be like maybe twenty
- 40:19Speaker 5: four twenty three ranked the next week. I'm gonna be
- 40:22Speaker 5: surprised about that. That and then heading into Michigan. The
- 40:27Speaker 5: coverage for that game, Yeah, you're.
- 40:30Speaker 4: Gonna be huge. Yeah, I don't.
- 40:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess if you come out and look great again,
- 40:41Speaker 3: we don't know how good Cincinnati is.
- 40:42Speaker 4: We'll just figure that out. Yeah.
- 40:47Speaker 3: I just don't see any way possible that this game's
- 40:49Speaker 3: not sloppy.
- 40:52Speaker 6: True, but if it's wet, I could see that.
- 40:55Speaker 1: But I'm talking about what if blown out?
- 40:59Speaker 6: I would say it's if that's the case. I don't
- 41:03Speaker 6: think the fans react to what you think, because I
- 41:05Speaker 6: think the expectation is of that how much better than Cincinnati.
- 41:08Speaker 6: We are like, people will be jacked, but it's not
- 41:10Speaker 6: gonna be like oh boy, I mean because there's already
- 41:13Speaker 6: people who are like, if we win this game by
- 41:16Speaker 6: ten points, it's gonna be this is Natty or bust year.
- 41:18Speaker 6: We're making the playoffs.
- 41:21Speaker 2: So here's here's why I think forty five thirteen means
- 41:25Speaker 2: you started to get people like me to start going
- 41:27Speaker 2: like this, like you you do. You get the French,
- 41:34Speaker 2: the fans that are in this point of I want
- 41:39Speaker 2: to believe, but I'm not going to. I'm not until
- 41:41Speaker 2: I see it.
- 41:42Speaker 5: Now.
- 41:42Speaker 2: Cincinnati could be bad. We don't know, but you you
- 41:44Speaker 2: blow a team like this out, which we don't ever do.
- 41:46Speaker 2: We don't do that. Oh we've done to Northwestern, I
- 41:49Speaker 2: think only team out power five team recently.
- 41:54Speaker 1: Natty out.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Last year we killed wisconsinently kind of yeah, I mean
- 41:58Speaker 2: that was as impressidents. I'm talking like just obliterate for
- 42:10Speaker 2: about everybody then is boded.
- 42:12Speaker 1: Like now, I'm gonna try to not let myself say, Okay,
- 42:15Speaker 1: one game, let's not divealling over one game.
- 42:20Speaker 2: But if it's one game in impressive fashion like that,
- 42:24Speaker 2: oh boy and me, but also the players and the coaches,
- 42:27Speaker 2: and like you do that, your mindset now be goes.
- 42:32Speaker 2: We're pretty freaking good. Whether Cincinnati is good or not,
- 42:36Speaker 2: I don't know, but I wanted to go through the
- 42:38Speaker 2: tail lands. We'll talk about more realistic stuff here in
- 42:41Speaker 2: a second, but kendall last thoughts here. House Rules God
- 42:48Speaker 2: Matt Rules podcast comes out.
- 42:50Speaker 5: I always come out, come on. Just did some research
- 42:55Speaker 5: this morning. On It's Let's See. The co host is
- 42:59Speaker 5: Anthony Acause Gargano. I don't know who that is, no idea.
- 43:06Speaker 5: His first guests are a author, a basically a self
- 43:11Speaker 5: help author, and Javin Wright, the linebacker. But my god,
- 43:18Speaker 5: he opens it up. I watched the first two seconds
- 43:20Speaker 5: two minutes. He's like, why are we doing this? Well,
- 43:24Speaker 5: you know I've been fired before. And then another thing
- 43:26Speaker 5: he talks about being fired again. He just talks about
- 43:29Speaker 5: all I've had four head coaching jobs. I don't really
- 43:31Speaker 5: care about this. You know, I'll be on the beach
- 43:34Speaker 5: so on flip flops if this doesn't work out? What
- 43:36Speaker 5: the hell are we doing here? Who's gonna listen to this?
- 43:39Speaker 5: Who's gonna listen to this? If we're two and three
- 43:42Speaker 5: going into Michigan State, that's gonna look bad. I don't
- 43:46Speaker 5: like the optics of it. I don't think I'm interested
- 43:48Speaker 5: in anything. Coach who has to say? I mean, win
- 43:51Speaker 5: some games and then maybe, But I mean I think
- 43:54Speaker 5: it's embarrassing right now, deck, What do you think?
- 44:01Speaker 6: I don't over there.
- 44:04Speaker 4: I'm not big on yet.
- 44:06Speaker 3: Go win some games first, he's interesting, Yeah, going some
- 44:12Speaker 3: games first?
- 44:13Speaker 4: For doing his podcasts and other ship like that. It's like.
- 44:17Speaker 3: It makes it makes almost feel like he's not locked in,
- 44:21Speaker 3: like he's he's just run for Like the show.
- 44:24Speaker 5: I guess people said it's good for N I L
- 44:26Speaker 5: And how's it good for Nil? What's the sponsors. I
- 44:29Speaker 5: didn't see any, Like, what are you talking about? What
- 44:32Speaker 5: an extra thousand dollars?
- 44:33Speaker 4: You're your last coach. Your last coach didn't give a
- 44:36Speaker 4: ship like it either.
- 44:37Speaker 5: And it's like, oh no, no, let's just win against
- 44:42Speaker 5: Cincinnati and then maybe I'll give house rule solution.
- 44:46Speaker 6: It's weird that he felt he needed the platform two years.
- 44:50Speaker 5: A year ago two he said I don't really like
- 44:52Speaker 5: doing these in season videos that we do with the team.
- 44:55Speaker 5: Now he has a whole podcast. I don't get it.
- 44:58Speaker 5: I don't like it. But then again, if we blow
- 45:01Speaker 5: out Cincinnati forty eight to thirteen, I will subscribe and
- 45:03Speaker 5: listen to.
- 45:06Speaker 1: Atens. What's your general thoughts on it?
- 45:08Speaker 6: Listen? It just it feels weird that he felt the
- 45:10Speaker 6: need for the platform. It's like, okay, he talks all
- 45:14Speaker 6: the time and all these different things. Is why do
- 45:16Speaker 6: we need a podcast. I mean, I'm fine with it
- 45:19Speaker 6: because he does like the radio shows, and it's just
- 45:22Speaker 6: if you think of it just as like another radio show. Okay,
- 45:29Speaker 6: I will admit I have now listened. I probably won't listen.
- 45:34Speaker 5: Maybe the cause is a you'reat cohe maybe there's a
- 45:39Speaker 5: new nickname for you, Dak, I do think.
- 45:44Speaker 2: I mean, I'm not going to be the dead horse.
- 45:46Speaker 2: I'm in the same ballpark as you guys and Austin.
- 45:50Speaker 2: I like that thought, like why why need something else
- 45:53Speaker 2: in addition to everything you do?
- 45:55Speaker 5: He already tweets five times a day.
- 45:56Speaker 6: I mean, my god, yeah, I'm fine with what he's
- 45:59Speaker 6: been doing.
- 46:00Speaker 1: The people.
- 46:01Speaker 2: The people will say too, you know, whether it be
- 46:02Speaker 2: a TV show, which is what like the old time
- 46:05Speaker 2: coaches were allowed to do once a week, the nil benefits,
- 46:10Speaker 2: the recruiting benefits. I get all of that, Like, I
- 46:13Speaker 2: understand it. I just disagree with spending extra time on it,
- 46:17Speaker 2: especially during the season when when you're now maybe maybe
- 46:21Speaker 2: the operation is so much different that rule doesn't have
- 46:23Speaker 2: to coach that much anymore. I don't know, Like maybe
- 46:26Speaker 2: he's got every all of his jobs or ducks are
- 46:28Speaker 2: in a row and he's able to focus on this
- 46:30Speaker 2: on Maybe that's the full intention. If it goes back
- 46:34Speaker 2: to leading an entire program on a different station. Maybe,
- 46:38Speaker 2: But I also I like your take, like do we
- 46:40Speaker 2: really need something else? Like in addition right now, like
- 46:44Speaker 2: it again, win some games, he have this thing rolling,
- 46:48Speaker 2: it'd be much more intriguing right now, it has more
- 46:51Speaker 2: negative repercussions right now, if things go south, you look
- 46:55Speaker 2: at something like this and you go, what in the
- 46:57Speaker 2: hell are we doing versus the benefits of it of
- 47:01Speaker 2: it working out, like, okay, great, it worked out, and
- 47:04Speaker 2: right now it makes me look kind of stupid.
- 47:06Speaker 1: If things now, maybe it won't.
- 47:07Speaker 2: Maybe we will win, maybe we will be five and
- 47:09Speaker 2: zh in five games, and we look back on all
- 47:13Speaker 2: this stuff and we go, oh, Matt rule is a genius.
- 47:15Speaker 2: He had an all planned out but right now there's
- 47:17Speaker 2: nothing to indicate that because we haven't won anything besides
- 47:20Speaker 2: winning one bowl game last year, Like, congrats.
- 47:24Speaker 3: At what point does he pulled Paul George and state,
- 47:26Speaker 3: all right, this is over a need to focus on
- 47:27Speaker 3: the playoffs.
- 47:28Speaker 6: Right, playoff playoffs?
- 47:31Speaker 5: No, all right, Kendall, All right, thank you guys.
- 47:35Speaker 3: There's one one more question after Kendle. Oh god, who's
- 47:40Speaker 3: the better quarterback? Jaj McCarthy or Patrick mahomes. Ja Jon
- 47:43Speaker 3: McCarthy's going to be out of the league.
- 47:44Speaker 5: In two years? So that score prediction? Give me you
- 47:51Speaker 5: know what, No, twenty four thirteen, we're making a field goal.
- 47:56Speaker 6: Okay, that's right.
- 48:01Speaker 2: Austin Rose joining us here the second half of the
- 48:03Speaker 2: pop Thanks to Kendall coming on this morning. I'm giving
- 48:07Speaker 2: us some preview of the Chiefs atmosphere down an arrowhead
- 48:13Speaker 2: for the game Austin. We talked depth Chart part one.
- 48:19Speaker 2: Before we do any breast of football, we better we
- 48:21Speaker 2: better mention Husker volleyball of the year two and zero
- 48:26Speaker 2: in the AVCA opening games here for the college volleyball season,
- 48:30Speaker 2: defeating Pittsburgh on Friday and then Stanford on Sunday.
- 48:34Speaker 6: Number three Pit and number six and Stanford. It was
- 48:37Speaker 6: not much of a game. I mean it was the
- 48:41Speaker 6: fans weren't even into it because it was that much
- 48:43Speaker 6: of a beat and it was just okay, the like
- 48:49Speaker 6: we look freaking good for the first two games of
- 48:51Speaker 6: the year to clean up Pit and Stanford like that. Yeah,
- 48:57Speaker 6: it's like, oh boy, And even Pit, like we dropped
- 49:01Speaker 6: set one, right, it was set one, or just set
- 49:05Speaker 6: two two? This set two, you're right. But even then
- 49:10Speaker 6: when we dropped it, it was it was still a
- 49:14Speaker 6: close set. We kind of went a round at the
- 49:16Speaker 6: end and then we killed them Set three, and we
- 49:20Speaker 6: pretty much killed them Set four, and they kind of
- 49:22Speaker 6: came back a little bit at the end, but it
- 49:24Speaker 6: really didn't feel that close, and Stanley Stanford was just
- 49:28Speaker 6: a bludgeting of what was once a you know, the
- 49:33Speaker 6: national champion.
- 49:35Speaker 2: Yes, I thought set one against Pittsburgh we were down
- 49:39Speaker 2: I think twenty one to eighteen and.
- 49:41Speaker 6: Like the straight points.
- 49:43Speaker 2: Yeah, and then same thing set too, So I think
- 49:47Speaker 2: it took us a couple of sets to maybe start clicking.
- 49:50Speaker 2: And then I mean since then Set three, four, then
- 49:52Speaker 2: all of yesterday's game against Stanford was just.
- 49:55Speaker 1: It was impressive.
- 49:56Speaker 2: Like this team that we've been hearing about, you know,
- 50:00Speaker 2: hold the thought, but maybe one of the best teams
- 50:02Speaker 2: we've had, and we've had some pretty damn good teams recently,
- 50:05Speaker 2: like this is this is a pre damn good team
- 50:06Speaker 2: in preseason ranked number one.
- 50:09Speaker 1: It could it could be. It could be a pretty
- 50:11Speaker 1: impressive year.
- 50:13Speaker 6: We had what four preseason All Americans or something like that,
- 50:16Speaker 6: and something crazy like.
- 50:19Speaker 2: Emon did her uh like top twenty five returning players
- 50:23Speaker 2: and we had like eight of them in the top
- 50:25Speaker 2: twenty five and three of the top four were from Nebraska.
- 50:28Speaker 6: Yeah, it could be a pretty good year, which is exciting.
- 50:32Speaker 6: You know, you get lump that with the football team.
- 50:35Speaker 6: You know, everyone's goat this and uh, I'm just kidding.
- 50:39Speaker 6: Not quite that level. But we looked really good. The
- 50:43Speaker 6: new players mesched really well. I mean the returners are
- 50:48Speaker 6: the returners are still kind of the stars. So Danny,
- 50:52Speaker 6: Danny's got a good, good setup for our first season
- 50:55Speaker 6: at Nebraska. Not gonna lie. I also, like they said
- 50:58Speaker 6: the iron Sharbon's Irons, Like, well, wet that rualism going
- 51:01Speaker 6: on here at the volleyball team.
- 51:04Speaker 5: Yep.
- 51:05Speaker 3: I went down there to do some positives, some podcast research,
- 51:08Speaker 3: see what the scene was like, people are, people are
- 51:13Speaker 3: jacked by Oscar black Wall, like everyone's like we're great.
- 51:17Speaker 4: Like I think.
- 51:22Speaker 3: From the way, from the way it sounds, this could
- 51:25Speaker 3: go down as one of the best teams ever in
- 51:27Speaker 3: volleyball history.
- 51:28Speaker 2: Like, yeah, that's just what your research told you.
- 51:35Speaker 4: Yeah, that's when research told me. Now I didn't have
- 51:38Speaker 4: to ask who won.
- 51:40Speaker 6: But it's it's nice to have a team that you
- 51:45Speaker 6: just feel that, you know, we have these soft expectations
- 51:49Speaker 6: for the football team. It's now it's like, if we
- 51:51Speaker 6: don't make the National Championship game, which is in Kansas
- 51:55Speaker 6: City this year, the Final four is in Kansas City. Unfortunately,
- 51:58Speaker 6: not unfortunately, my sisters would inside weekend, so.
- 52:01Speaker 1: I will get careful on your wording.
- 52:04Speaker 6: Not unfortunately unfortunate timing, but gosh, if I I would
- 52:13Speaker 6: buy tickets right now. Honestly, that's how good I feel
- 52:15Speaker 6: about this team. I watched. I literally I watched the
- 52:19Speaker 6: the game. It's pint and I was like, Okay, I'm
- 52:21Speaker 6: going to the Final four and I was like, oh,
- 52:23Speaker 6: it's in Kansas City and then I saw the date.
- 52:26Speaker 6: But honestly, get the tickets now.
- 52:28Speaker 2: Get them now, because they're probably just going to go up.
- 52:30Speaker 2: That's the year, uh, Cincinnati. So we will be doing
- 52:36Speaker 2: a preview pod shorter one on Thursday morning before the game.
- 52:41Speaker 1: But for those of you that have hung on along
- 52:44Speaker 1: this long.
- 52:44Speaker 2: We want to talk a little bit about the Bearcats
- 52:48Speaker 2: and what coach Sadderfield's team is going to bring to
- 52:53Speaker 2: Kansas City. Number one, the things that we've been hearing
- 52:59Speaker 2: and what their plan is is they're going to try
- 53:04Speaker 2: to muck it up and this is what I think
- 53:05Speaker 2: they're going to try to do.
- 53:06Speaker 4: Like they're They're.
- 53:09Speaker 2: Defensive line specifically, is by far the strength of their team.
- 53:17Speaker 2: Their defensive tackle Dante Corleone, he's one of the better
- 53:24Speaker 2: defensive line, and we're going to see this year and that,
- 53:26Speaker 2: and that's saying something and it's important to call out
- 53:29Speaker 2: because the offensive line is going to get tested right
- 53:34Speaker 2: away off the gate and we will see how they
- 53:37Speaker 2: hold up because we've had some higher not super high,
- 53:40Speaker 2: but higher expectations for our offensive line. But Cincinnati, I
- 53:44Speaker 2: think in the trenches and as far as what I'm
- 53:47Speaker 2: going to look at early on is who's winning the
- 53:51Speaker 2: line of scrimmage and if one side is dominating the
- 53:55Speaker 2: other early on, that's going to tell you a lot
- 53:58Speaker 2: for how the rest of the game is going to
- 54:00Speaker 2: because they are pretty strong up front.
- 54:08Speaker 6: I mean, it's probably the best they it's well, I
- 54:10Speaker 6: guess he also will be fresh, but it's like, well,
- 54:13Speaker 6: at least the offensive line is gonna be fully healthy
- 54:16Speaker 6: against you know, one of the better defensive line, and
- 54:18Speaker 6: now he'll also be fully healthy. But if it's raining
- 54:24Speaker 6: and it's a slower game and you kind of know
- 54:28Speaker 6: what's gonna happen, it might make it a little more
- 54:30Speaker 6: difficult because it's like, well, we know they're probably going
- 54:32Speaker 6: to run the ball here, so they the way that
- 54:35Speaker 6: they you know, drop their defensive scheme would probably be
- 54:40Speaker 6: a little bit more taxing on the offensive line, but
- 54:43Speaker 6: also we would be drawing up a better scheme for
- 54:45Speaker 6: the run. I don't know, guys, I'm not gonna lie.
- 54:52Speaker 4: Quarterback does not scare you at all.
- 54:54Speaker 6: No, he doesn't.
- 54:55Speaker 2: I know the Brenon Stores is their quarterback that you're mentioned.
- 55:00Speaker 2: He's been back back for his fifth season. I believe
- 55:03Speaker 2: in college football. Yeah, in a pretty solid year last year.
- 55:07Speaker 2: I mean, he's not He's is not a guy that's
- 55:09Speaker 2: coming in and he's unknown what he can do. Like
- 55:11Speaker 2: we have film, we have tape on him. He's experienced.
- 55:15Speaker 2: I think that's important, especially playing in a hostile environment
- 55:20Speaker 2: a road game for them is going to be He
- 55:23Speaker 2: doesn't scare you, but at the same time, having experience
- 55:26Speaker 2: scares me, like just to keep things together a true freshman.
- 55:31Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 55:33Speaker 6: I wouldn't.
- 55:33Speaker 2: I would rather not rather, But if Bryce Underwood came
- 55:36Speaker 2: from Michigan and played in this, I think he'd get
- 55:38Speaker 2: He get rattled very easily.
- 55:39Speaker 1: I don't think Spartan's.
- 55:40Speaker 2: Gonna be a guy that gets rattled. Because of the
- 55:42Speaker 2: situation and environment, we're going to have an advantage in.
- 55:46Speaker 6: That's a good point. But like Dak said, I'm not
- 55:52Speaker 6: when I say I'm not scared, not saying like, oh,
- 55:54Speaker 6: this guy's easy, but it's just it's not He's not
- 55:57Speaker 6: a weapon that I'm like, how are we going to
- 55:59Speaker 6: contain him? I think he'll he'll be able to handle
- 56:02Speaker 6: the moment better, like you said, but it's not a
- 56:04Speaker 6: guy that's gonna go out there and absolutely dominate the game.
- 56:08Speaker 6: And we're not gonna be able to have an answer
- 56:09Speaker 6: for him because it you know, but like his receivers
- 56:16Speaker 6: can only do so much and I'm not there. I'm
- 56:21Speaker 6: feeling good, guys. I know you guys are all scared,
- 56:23Speaker 6: but I'm feeling pretty good, all right.
- 56:29Speaker 2: The other offensive pieces that are gonna be you mentioned,
- 56:33Speaker 2: like who else is there?
- 56:35Speaker 1: Tababi Walker from Wisconsin?
- 56:36Speaker 2: We got to face another Wisconsin running backup comes in
- 56:40Speaker 2: the receivers a lot. Basically, they're all gonna be new
- 56:43Speaker 2: Cyrus Allen, Jeff calde O, Caleb.
- 56:45Speaker 1: Goodie like that.
- 56:47Speaker 2: They are newer guys that we don't know how they're
- 56:50Speaker 2: gonna match.
- 56:51Speaker 1: They don't know how they're gonna match.
- 56:52Speaker 6: That's so. But they're also new and this is you know,
- 56:56Speaker 6: with their quarterback, so there is That's.
- 56:58Speaker 2: What I'm saying it's all new, so that I think
- 57:00Speaker 2: our advantage where everything's new, we don't really know what
- 57:05Speaker 2: that all could look like, and I think that's benefit
- 57:09Speaker 2: us of their defense. You know, I mentioned their run game,
- 57:12Speaker 2: but it's not like overall last year they were very
- 57:15Speaker 2: vulnerable to big plays. And if our offense is explosive,
- 57:21Speaker 2: like we think, it could be anything. I think they
- 57:24Speaker 2: could be a good thing now, whether you know, keep
- 57:27Speaker 2: that in mind. But I think our receivers against their
- 57:32Speaker 2: secondary is another matchup that if it pops for us,
- 57:37Speaker 2: it's gonna pop, and it could be a lot of
- 57:41Speaker 2: fun offensively for this game specifically if that works. Now,
- 57:47Speaker 2: you got to do your job up front first in
- 57:49Speaker 2: any sort of passing game. But do I think this
- 57:51Speaker 2: is go out and sling it eighty five percent of
- 57:53Speaker 2: the time. No, It'll be a good healthy balance. I
- 57:56Speaker 2: think run and pass, but I do think that's important.
- 57:59Speaker 2: And then the turnovers another big thing. You know, Cincinnati
- 58:01Speaker 2: was minus four and turnovers last year. We obviously have
- 58:04Speaker 2: not had strong numbers in the turnover differential in recent years.
- 58:12Speaker 2: Defense forced a few more last year. That's more of
- 58:15Speaker 2: the definition of John Butler. That'll also be a thing.
- 58:18Speaker 2: If the turnovers are three to one Cincinnati's favor, I'm
- 58:23Speaker 2: not liking it. If it's the opposite, I like where
- 58:26Speaker 2: we're at.
- 58:27Speaker 6: It'll also be interesting because Cincinnati led the Big twelve
- 58:30Speaker 6: in time possession, We led the Big ten in time
- 58:33Speaker 6: of possession.
- 58:34Speaker 4: So that's that's gonna say.
- 58:36Speaker 3: Cincinnati wants to slow this game down, and but we also, yeah,
- 58:43Speaker 3: do you though with this new high flying offense.
- 58:45Speaker 2: Maybe that's what we're gonna see, Like this could be
- 58:48Speaker 2: different we had last year. We definitely did you mentioned
- 58:50Speaker 2: the time of possession stat. We'll see what offense looks
- 58:54Speaker 2: like this year and specifically this game, how we want.
- 58:57Speaker 1: To attack it.
- 59:00Speaker 6: I mean, don't go for deck.
- 59:04Speaker 3: I just don't see any way Cincinnati wins this game
- 59:07Speaker 3: if they get't shoot out with Nebraska like they they
- 59:11Speaker 3: have to slow it down to win this game, which
- 59:16Speaker 3: the weather might help them a lot help them they did.
- 59:23Speaker 5: Is it going to rain?
- 59:24Speaker 4: Like, what's a percent chance?
- 59:25Speaker 5: Now?
- 59:25Speaker 6: I don't know what it is right now.
- 59:26Speaker 2: Last I saw it fifty for the weather forecast, So
- 59:30Speaker 2: it there's a chance. I don't know, we're gonna know
- 59:33Speaker 2: for sure, but there's a chance that it could be
- 59:37Speaker 2: a little wet. I don't think it's going to be
- 59:38Speaker 2: like pouring rain the whole game, but yeah, there's probably
- 59:43Speaker 2: gonna be some weather involved there. I should mentioned before
- 59:46Speaker 2: we move on from Cincinnati players, their tight ends good
- 59:48Speaker 2: to by the way, he's a senior transfer from Ohio State.
- 59:52Speaker 2: Like he's not maybe pro potential, I don't know, but
- 59:56Speaker 2: he's solid. Like they're gonna they're gonna utilize the guy
- 59:59Speaker 2: as well as most you know, running play action type
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: teams are going to do.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: My last matchup thing to watch is.
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: Kind of flipping the other line line of scrimmage around
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: our defensive line. It's like kind of the big concern
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: you know, this year, and we mentioned the depth chart
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: some of the ores there. Moving multiple guys in Cincinnati's
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: offensive line I think is solid. They're going to have
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: a strong run game. Can our defensive line stay fresh
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: hold their own against another Power five opponent right away
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: from the get go.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: We're going to find that out.
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: The line of scrimmage guys, and we talk about in
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: the podcast a lot.
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: It's huge, especially for this game.
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: It is so big in how this game is going
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: to play out, and if we can't hold our own
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: it's going to be a close game, and it probably
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: will be a close game.
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: But I don't think.
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: We're going to get blown out or we're going to
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: blow them out or anything like that. I thought line
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: of scrimmage game is a battle, and I think it
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: probably will be, which leads me to where I think
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: the game will go.
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: So you're getting You're getting less and less confident as
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: we get towards the game. No, I I've never felt
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: great about this game.
- 1:01:18Speaker 4: Yeah I'm not.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: There's my confidence isn't going down.
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: I'm getting more nervous, but I'm not my cop. I
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: have never once thought felt good about this game.
- 1:01:28Speaker 6: What was your original percentage prediction?
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: I think.
- 1:01:34Speaker 6: That's too low.
- 1:01:36Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm in the middle of you in Austin. I
- 1:01:38Speaker 4: don't new practice should win this game.
- 1:01:43Speaker 6: The only thing that gives me pauses the weather. That
- 1:01:47Speaker 6: is the only thing. I think it's gonna be a
- 1:01:51Speaker 6: good game. And I'm not saying if Cincinnati went to
- 1:01:53Speaker 6: be shocked, but if it if the weather was totally normal.
- 1:02:00Speaker 6: I just think our offensive talent is far superior than
- 1:02:03Speaker 6: our defensive talent. Our defensive talent is good enough full
- 1:02:06Speaker 6: of seniors, and our dvs are good enough that we
- 1:02:11Speaker 6: would win. The weather is the only thing that's making
- 1:02:14Speaker 6: like oh gosh, because that kind of neutralizes half of
- 1:02:18Speaker 6: what we're good at, our offensive talent. All of a sudden,
- 1:02:21Speaker 6: it's like, well, our wide receiving corp is not as useful,
- 1:02:27Speaker 6: and now they're kind of game playing against our run game.
- 1:02:30Speaker 6: And so we'll see. We do have a whole offseason
- 1:02:34Speaker 6: to prepare for this opponent.
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: I think it's my week ever and so at Cincinnati.
- 1:02:39Speaker 4: So Cincinnati again, since Cincinnati goes down, gets that ball
- 1:02:43Speaker 4: for his scores. Here we go.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: Here's what I want to do for our prediction. Here
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: to end the show, I want you to give me
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: a score prediction. But I also want you to give
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: me one player to watch. Maybe it's a position group,
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: but player that you're watching, you're excited to watch, You're
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: intrigued to watch.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: Leading up to this game.
- 1:03:05Speaker 6: I'm gonna go twenty seven to seventeen Nebraska, and I
- 1:03:10Speaker 6: am excited to watch Jacorey in the special teams unit.
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: Specifically, I I was for sure thought you're gonna.
- 1:03:17Speaker 6: Go Argie, gotta see our Lord and savior, Archie Wilson.
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: I'm gonna Go thirty one seventeen Nebraska and Dankey is
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: the one I'm gonna be watching because there's a lot
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: of hype behind him.
- 1:03:32Speaker 4: Can't he back it up? Or how much or how
- 1:03:36Speaker 4: much are they even gonna use him?
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: That's funny, you guys both did receivers. I'm probably most
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: excited to watch some of these younger running backs. I
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: don't think Emmett's going to be in the whole time.
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: I think Makai Nelson is going to get some opportunities.
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: How many, I don't know, but it might be on
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: the Kicker Turn game. I think that I want to
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: see how these guys look in a game more. I
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: have a pretty good idea of what Emma Johnson can
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: and can't do, and maybe he'll flash for more. I
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: haven't watched Dame Key, but I'm excited to watch. I'm
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: excited to watch Ja Corey and then yeah, my second
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: close up is our punt game.
- 1:04:18Speaker 4: I hope.
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: I'm excited to see if it's like just this transformed.
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: I think it could be really cool, so I'm really
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: pumped to watch.
- 1:04:26Speaker 5: That as well.
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: I went from fifty or sixty percent. I'm you're right, Dak,
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: I probably am a little bit less excited about winning.
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: I'm moving my percentage on to fifty. And I flipped
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: a coin and we lost, So I'm gonna go twenty
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: four to twenty one Cincinnati.
- 1:04:43Speaker 6: Wow, that's so so dumb, Hunter.
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: I hope I'm dumb, so dumb. I hope I'm dumb.
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: I I hope, I hope. I hope you're right. Also,
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: Dak overall one on his picks the year.
- 1:05:03Speaker 4: That was a great start.
- 1:05:05Speaker 6: Go if we're on that fourth down was a terrible call.
- 1:05:08Speaker 6: It's terrible, tough, tough. I could not believe they they
- 1:05:12Speaker 6: I was like, yeah, whatever, that's not I wasn't that upset,
- 1:05:15Speaker 6: but I was like, this is that was atrocious decision.
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: All right, we.
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: Will be back Thursday morning. We'll have a game day
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: pod for you released early to mid morning that you
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: can listen to on your way down to Kansas City.
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: A little more Cincinnati preview. Maybe my mind will change,
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: but I doubt it. Yeah, go be gred gb R
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: go be greddow
