Wrestler Pleads Guilty in Teammate’s Murder | Lexington News
A former wrestler turned murderer, Charles Escalera, 24, received a 40-year sentence for strangling his teammate Josiah Kilman in February — a crime he pleaded guilty to in June. In court, Escalera tearfully apologized, asking for forgiveness and saying he’d trade places with Kilman if he could. Over 60 letters from Kilman’s loved ones were submitted, and though prosecutors dropped other charges in the plea deal, Kentucky law barred probation.
