- 0:01There is a serious rationale behind the many spiritual paths
- 0:05that counsel the true seeker to abandon his family, his friends,
- 0:10his social life, and live secluded in a cave in the
- 0:15forest, in the desert to practice his spiritual
- 0:19discipline. All of these connections and
- 0:22social interactions bring with them vibrational patterns that
- 0:27express the forces of thought, the forces of emotions, the
- 0:31forces of desires, the forces of physical and vital demand that
- 0:36automatically enter into one and raise those similar vibrations
- 0:41within oneself. They are not only the unspoken
- 0:45assumptions that are part of the cultural background, but very
- 0:48concrete expectations that arise from one's family, friends, Co
- 0:54workers, and associates, even from strangers with whom we have
- 0:59just a passing interaction. Even a cursory observation can
- 1:04lead one to understand that many of the impulses that arise
- 1:08within each individual are the result of these interactions.
- 1:13We may enter a place that is filled with desire for certain
- 1:16foods and suddenly we have a craving.
- 1:19Or we may enter a place where people are expressing their
- 1:22sexual desires and suddenly we too may feel that impulse.
- 1:28Someone may be angry and we engage with our own angry
- 1:32response, where someone may be deep in a state of depression
- 1:37and we feel drained and tired after an interaction with that
- 1:41individual. People who imbibe recreational
- 1:44drugs frequently talk about something they call a contact
- 1:48high, where an individual not partaking of the drug
- 1:53nevertheless gets a glimpse of the experience just from being
- 1:57in the environs of those who are under that influence.
- 2:01Sometimes an individual experiences a sudden fear and it
- 2:05takes hold of other individuals nearby.
- 2:10People visit churches, temples, ashrams, and experience there a
- 2:15deep sense of peace or contentment, or a blissful
- 2:19feeling out of a similar influence from individuals who
- 2:24are experiencing that state. In that environment it is of
- 2:29course not possible nor necessary for everyone seeking
- 2:33spiritual realization to try to isolate himself from others, nor
- 2:38join in ashram. And it must be noted that such
- 2:42isolation is in many cases counterproductive or even a
- 2:47failure over the long term. What is required is an awareness
- 2:52of this influence, and thus an increasing consciousness of the
- 2:56play of forces of the vibrational patterns that are
- 3:00provoked and the need to exercise a review and some
- 3:04amount of self-control over them, with a recognition that
- 3:09they are coming to one from outside and are not inherently
- 3:13one's own feeling, sensation, impulse, desire or thought.
- 3:20For the most part, the vibrations that arise from one's
- 3:23associations in the world are relatively weak, as most people
- 3:27do not concentrate the force of these vibrations consciously or
- 3:31intensely. There is also a mixing influence
- 3:35as various impulses may cross one another, partially cancel
- 3:40each other out, or dilute themselves.
- 3:43Thus it is like a low grade vibrational state that is
- 3:47constantly operative but which can be viewed and managed with
- 3:51conscious awareness. In rare instances, there is
- 3:56someone who is consciously trying to extend a control or an
- 3:59influence, and these individuals can have a greater impact, which
- 4:04leads to things we can observe in the world, such as the
- 4:07development of a cult of personality where the followers
- 4:11come under the direct influence and control of a specific
- 4:15individual, who then becomes a leader.
- 4:18Whether religious, spiritual, political or some form of
- 4:24charismatic individual in any field, the mother notes quote,
- 4:30you live surrounded by people. These people themselves have
- 4:34desires, stray wishes, impulses which are expressed through
- 4:39them, and have all kinds of causes but take in their
- 4:43consciousness and individual form.
- 4:47For example, to put it in very practical terms, you have a
- 4:51father, a mother, brothers, sisters, friends, comrades.
- 4:56Each one has his own way of feeling willing, and all those
- 5:01with whom you are in relation expect something from you, even
- 5:05as you expect something from them.
- 5:08That's something they do not always express to you, but it is
- 5:12more or less conscious in their being, and it makes formations.
- 5:17These formations, according to each one's capacity of thought
- 5:21and the strength of his vitality, are more or less
- 5:25powerful, but they have their own little strength, which is
- 5:29usually much the same as yours. And So what those around you
- 5:33want, desire, hope, or expect from you, enters in this way in
- 5:39the form of suggestions, very rarely expressed, but which you
- 5:43absorb without resistance, and which suddenly awaken within you
- 5:47a similar desire, a similar will, a similar impulse.
- 5:53This happens from morning to night and again from night to
- 5:57morning, For these things don't stop while you are sleeping, but
- 6:01On the contrary, are very often intensified because your
- 6:06consciousness is no longer awake, watching and protecting
- 6:09you to some extent. And this is quite common.
- 6:14So common that it is quite natural, and so natural that you
- 6:19need special circumstances and most unusual occasions to become
- 6:23aware of it naturally. It goes without saying that your
- 6:28own responses, your own impulses, your own wishes have a
- 6:32similar influence on others, and that all this becomes a
- 6:36marvelous mixture in which might is always right.
