- 0:05Speaker 1: Now it's time to catch up with Country Weekly, where
- 0:08we dive into news and gossip from the world of
- 0:11country music. I'm your host, Ken Dawkins, and I'll be
- 0:15reading from various sources found online now. As a reminder,
- 0:19RADIOI is a reading service intended for people who are
- 0:22blind or have other disabilities that make it difficult to
- 0:25read printed material. And for those of you who remember
- 0:29Larry Hurt, who did this program for many years, I
- 0:32was able to spend some quality time with Larry on
- 0:35Tuesday night at a RADIOI event. He's doing well, We'll
- 0:40become of The first article dated October twenty sixth, and
- 0:43this is from TheStreet dot com Country Superstar taking over
- 0:49historic Las Vegas Strip venue. For nearly eight decades, the
- 0:54Flamingo in Las Vegas has embodied the glitz, risk, and
- 0:57reinvention that defined the Las Vegas Strip. The Flamingo also
- 1:01has a more storied history than most other Las Vegas
- 1:04Strip resorts. Open back in nineteen forty six by mobster
- 1:08Buddsey Bugsy Seagull, it was the first true resort casino
- 1:12on the Las Vegas Boulevard. Siegull allegedly so feared for
- 1:15his life that his personal suite had concrete walls that
- 1:18were four feet thick. Anyway, the iconic hotel has had
- 1:22a starring role in movies like Viva Las Vegas and
- 1:24Ocean's Eleven, and been the home of four dozens of
- 1:27music residencies, like Donnie and Marie Osmond's seventeen hundred and
- 1:31thirty show run. Now, the Flamingo is ready for another reinvention,
- 1:35a country music powered transformation led by Luke Combs, one
- 1:39of the genre's biggest global stars. Combs will open a
- 1:43thirty four thousand square foot entertainment complex on the site
- 1:46formerly home to Margaritaville at the Flamingo. According to the
- 1:50Las Vegas Review Journal, the new venture, called Category ten,
- 1:54will combine a live music hall, rooftop bar, and immersive
- 1:57nightlife space. The name nods to Comb's breakout hit Hurricane,
- 2:02and the design aims to channel that same high energy storm.
- 2:06Backed by Riemann Hospitality Properties and its Opery Entertainment Group,
- 2:10the venue will debut in the fall of twenty twenty
- 2:12six in partnership with Caesar's Entertainment, which operates The Flamingo.
- 2:17The Flamingo's reboot arrives during one of the strip's most
- 2:20turbulent economic cycles. Visitor volumes remain shy of their pre
- 2:24pandemic highs. According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority,
- 2:29the city hosted forty one point seven million visitors in
- 2:32twenty twenty four, still below the forty two point five
- 2:35million who came in twenty nineteen. So far, visitor numbers
- 2:40are down in twenty twenty five also, but room rates
- 2:43are up and spending patterns have shifted toward entertainment and
- 2:45dining over gaming. The Flamingos long running Margaritaville closed in
- 2:50twenty twenty four, following other high profile shakeups like the
- 2:54closure of Mirage's Iconic Volcano attraction and several restaurant turnovers
- 2:58at Bellaggio and Luxeoli. But things could be turning around.
- 3:03The success of Blake Shelton's All Read Las Vegas A
- 3:06location has paved the way for Luke Combe's Category ten
- 3:09and many other country nightclubs to open on the strips.
- 3:12As Kirk O'Neill, the Street's Las Vegas Expert plans for
- 3:16the Category ten outline, a four level venue designed to
- 3:19blend honky talk energy with Las Vegas Spectacle Hurricane Hall.
- 3:24It's a first floor stage surrounded by three bars and
- 3:27a dance floor hosting nightly live shows in line dancing lessons.
- 3:32The Beautiful Crazy Women's Lounge. It's an extravagant women's restroom
- 3:36lounge with a champagne bar yes you read that right,
- 3:39and full glam stations. The Still it's a bourbon centric
- 3:43upstairs bar curated by Combs, offering strip views and small
- 3:47batch selections. And The Eye Rooftop, a third floor DJ
- 3:51in dance terrace overlooking Las Vegas Boulevard. Opry Entertainment executives
- 3:56say the project reflects the company's push to export the
- 3:59Nashville expres experience to tourism capitals worldwide. Las Vegas is
- 4:04a global destination where music, entertainment, and hospitality converge. According
- 4:08to Colin Reed, CEO of Rieman Hospitality Properties in the
- 4:11Review Journal Report, category tenors are biggest statement yet outside
- 4:16of Nashville. The move signals a deeper trend reshaping the Strip. Experiences,
- 4:21especially music and sports, now drive revenue more than heads
- 4:24and beds. Live music venues, celebrity backed restaurants, and hybrid
- 4:28nightlife concepts have become the modern casino's anchor. Tenants Comb's
- 4:33broad crossover appeal spanning country pop and even international fans
- 4:38give the Flamingo opportunity to tap new markets. Country music
- 4:42tourism is booming too. Nashville drew a record seventeen million
- 4:46visitors in twenty twenty four, according to the city's Convention
- 4:49and Visitors Corporation, and Las Vegas developers are clearly betting
- 4:52some of that momentum can travel west. Las Vegas hospitality
- 4:56sector is still recalibrating after pandemic era disruptions, labor shortages,
- 5:01and rising costs, but projects like Category ten show the
- 5:05city can't evolve. Construction is already underway on the Flamingo site.
- 5:09If the concept proves to be a hit, it could
- 5:11start a comeback for this historic corner of the Las
- 5:14Vegas Strip. As Luke Colmbs put it, Vegas is all
- 5:17about doing things big, loud, and unforgettable, and that's exactly
- 5:21what we're building now. We move over to Southern Living magazine,
- 5:26where Landy Wilson is on the front cover, and this
- 5:29is the editorial page from Sid Evans, who's the editor
- 5:32in chief of Southern Living. A lot on her plate
- 5:35Landy Wilson may be busy, but she's keeping her people closed.
- 5:40I was standing in Lady Wilson's kitchen when she came
- 5:42down the hallway in one of her trademark cowboy hats,
- 5:45and the first thing she said was can I get
- 5:47you all water or anything? About a dozen people just
- 5:50invaded her house for a photo shoot, and we were
- 5:53making moving furniture, setting up studio lights, and taking over
- 5:57her living room, says Sid. There were cars, vans, pickup
- 6:01trucks crowding the driveway. She'd just gotten home from a
- 6:05tour the day before, and her French bulldog, Hippie May
- 6:08was barking with displeasure in the back bedroom. But Laney
- 6:11acted as if we were friends coming over for a
- 6:13football game. She gave me a firm handshake and big
- 6:16smile and said, so nice to meet you, Sid. Where
- 6:19do you need me to be? And when you talk
- 6:21to her in person, you would never guess that Lane
- 6:24is one of the biggest stars in country music. She
- 6:26seems more like someone you already know, a cousin or
- 6:29an old friend from college. The first thing you notice
- 6:32is her accent, which is thick as Caine's syrup, a
- 6:34telling sign that she's never strayed far from her roots.
- 6:38She grew up on a farm in Baskin, Louisiana, which
- 6:41she once told me nothing but a bunch of cornfields.
- 6:44There's not even a stoplight in town. Laney's father put
- 6:47her and her sister to work early, raising them on
- 6:49a set of values that have helped her navigate the
- 6:52ups and downs of a wild ride in Nashville. When
- 6:55things have gotten tough, her hometown support network has always
- 6:58had her back. All to two one hundred people in
- 7:00Baskin are basically my family, she said, and if we're
- 7:03not blood related, we might as well be. They're the
- 7:06ones that inspire me to get up every single day
- 7:08and do what I love to do. After an hour
- 7:11or two of photographs, we sat down on her speakes
- 7:13He themed basement to record an episode of Southern Living
- 7:16podcast Biscuits and Jam, and as always, she was open,
- 7:20honest and funny. She joked about her cooking skills, which
- 7:23you have taken a back seat to her music career.
- 7:26I could mess up hot pockets, she said. I don't
- 7:29have that little Louisiana touch like the rest of my folks.
- 7:32When asked about her family's Thanksgiving gathering, she said, even
- 7:35if there are six people coming over, my mom's cooking
- 7:38is like front army. I'm like, Lord, We're going to
- 7:41have leftovers for three years. She also emphasized the importance
- 7:44of remembering where you came from and visiting often, keeping
- 7:48your people close. That's been my method to this madness,
- 7:51she said. As our crew was packing up to leave,
- 7:54she brought out Hippie May, who was glad to be
- 7:56out of jail and happy to see us go. But Lene,
- 8:00he gave everyone hugs and handshakes as if it were
- 8:02the end of a party, and said, y'all come back
- 8:05sometime now. We moved down the road to Saving country
- 8:10Music with the first article dated October twenty seventh. Even
- 8:14Morgan Wallen thinks Chris Young's new music sucks. There might
- 8:19not be a more disappointing artist in the history of
- 8:21country music than Chris Young. He's got an excellent voice
- 8:24in some of his early songs and albums really set
- 8:27him on the right path to having a stellar career,
- 8:30but says saving country music chasing trends, muting the twang
- 8:34and dialing up the pop sounds of made Chris Young
- 8:36one of the most milk toast artists currently making country
- 8:39with one forgettable single and album after another not even
- 8:43fit for the Rascal Flats catalog. Chris Young just released
- 8:47a new album on October seventeenth, and who knew about it?
- 8:50And Yep, it sounds just like the last few snoozefests,
- 8:53says saving country music full of pop songs being pushed
- 8:56to the country market that probably won't even sell or chart. Well,
- 9:00what a waste of talent? How bad has it gotten
- 9:02for Chris Young? Now, even Morgan Wallen doesn't want to
- 9:05listen to that stuff, and that's saying something. It can
- 9:08be very revealing of some one's true opinions when you
- 9:11hear what they say when they think nobody is listening.
- 9:14Morgan Wallen got in a lot of trouble previously for
- 9:17being caught on some one's ring door bell camera saying
- 9:19a naughty word. In this instance, its audio from a
- 9:23bodycam footage when Wallen was being arrested from the notorious
- 9:26chair throwing incident back on April seventh, twenty twenty four
- 9:30that has folks in a tizzy. Wallen was charged with
- 9:33three felon accounts for hurling a metal chair off the
- 9:36roof of Eric Church's Lower Broadway bar in Nashville. The
- 9:40chair landed very near two Metro Nashville Police officers, and
- 9:43if it had hit some one would have probably caused
- 9:45serious injury. Willin later pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts
- 9:50of reckless endangerment and was sentenced to seven days in
- 9:53a d uy education center, as well as two years
- 9:56of probation. Segments of the bodycam footage from the erect
- 10:00have been trickling out over the last few weeks, and
- 10:02the most recent dump has raised the cackles of Chris
- 10:05Young fans. While in the back of a patrol car
- 10:08headed to the Pokey, Morgan Wallen can be heard saying
- 10:11to the officers, please do not play Chris Young on
- 10:15this radio, and later, oh, hell no, he's terrible. Not
- 10:19to give a ringing endorsement to anything, Morgan Wallen says,
- 10:22but having to listen to Chris Jung's music handcuffed in
- 10:25the back of a squad car just might be in
- 10:27violation of provisions and the Bill of Rights against cruel
- 10:30and unusual punishment. This is, according again to Saving Country
- 10:34Music along with some other revelations from Wallen on the
- 10:37bodycam footage, including that Wallen initially tried to claim he
- 10:41didn't even throw the chair. The other notable thing is
- 10:44how chummy the officers were with Wallen. It's a star
- 10:47contrast from how a lot of other folks would have
- 10:49been treated in a similar scenario. That's not how officers
- 10:53in Nashville acted with Chris Young. Just a few months
- 10:55before the Morgan Wallen Chare incident, during a compliance check
- 10:59by Tennessee Alcohl Hollick Beverage Commission officers at the Tin
- 11:02Roof in Nashville, where Young was drinking. The singer started
- 11:05to ask the compliance officers questions and then proceeded to
- 11:08follow them around the bars. They checked the ideas of
- 11:10other patrons. When Chris Young in front of the officers,
- 11:14one of them pushed him, resulting in Young tumbling to
- 11:16the ground and the officers arresting him for disorderly conduct,
- 11:20assaulting an officer, and resisting arrest. When video came out
- 11:24of the incident, it immediately exonerated Chris Young of any
- 11:27wrongdoing and the charges were completely dropped. Young was standing
- 11:31up for the other bar patrons who the compliance officers
- 11:34were being aggressive with. Overall, Chris Jung seems like a good,
- 11:38upstanding guy, much more than Morgan Wallen. Maybe Wallin saying
- 11:42Chris Young's music sucks is the pot calling the kettle black.
- 11:45But when even Morgan Wallen is going off on your
- 11:47music like the dude in The Big Lebowski did the Eagles,
- 11:51maybe it's time to reevaluate your career trajectory. More Las
- 11:56Vegas News as we had to countrynow dot Com with
- 11:59the first article published October twenty seventh. Kenny Chesney to
- 12:03shake things up for fans during second residency at Vegas Sphere.
- 12:08Kenny Chesney's heading back to Las Vegas for another summer
- 12:11at the State of the Art Sphere, and fans can
- 12:13expect a brand new experience when he takes the stage.
- 12:16I guess that's next summer. The country star or superstar,
- 12:19who made history as the first ever country artist to
- 12:21headline the Cutting Edge venue, reveal that he's planning to
- 12:25shake things up for his second run in Sin City.
- 12:28We have to change it some half the show is
- 12:30probably going to be completely different, and we're going to
- 12:32change some of it that was not you know, there's
- 12:34some songs that we haven't done in a while that
- 12:36we're going to do. Chesney recently shared on Sirius XM's
- 12:40No Shoes Radio. That's the beauty of it, because in
- 12:43that environment, you get to do songs that you don't
- 12:45get to do at stadium shows. And so we did
- 12:48a lot of that this year. We're going to do
- 12:49some more of that next summer. But I would say
- 12:51probably at least half the show is going to be
- 12:54completely different. The Country Music Hall of Famer wants to
- 12:57mix things up to give fans a fresh experience. I
- 13:00wouldn't want to go to the Sphere one year and
- 13:02come back the next year and see the exact same thing,
- 13:04he admitted. It's like, oh, well, I went to the
- 13:06circus last year and they did the same thing this time.
- 13:09Jesney laughed as he hated. I'm just saying, whatever it is,
- 13:12it's a circus. I mean, we're a circus act. Jesney's
- 13:15return to the Sphere will give fans another chance to
- 13:18see as one of a kind production, this time with
- 13:20an updated set list. In surprises, only the get Along
- 13:23singer can deliver. The eight time Entertainer of the year,
- 13:26will perform at the State of the Art venue on
- 13:28the following dates, Friday June nineteenth, Saturday the twentieth, Wednesday,
- 13:32the twenty fourth, Friday the twenty sixth, and Saturday June
- 13:35twenty seventh. He says he was inspired to return after
- 13:39witnessing the fan reaction during his first run of shows
- 13:42in twenty twenty five. You can't truly understand until you
- 13:45start playing music with all the people there, feeling that energy,
- 13:48and the way the visuals and songs just consume people,
- 13:51Chesney said of the decision to come back, the more
- 13:54I watched the fans having this experience, I'm sure they
- 13:57couldn't imagine the more ideas I had both to weconfigure
- 14:00some of last year's songs and a few songs that
- 14:03seem like they should get this immersive treatment and wanted
- 14:05to do. He continued, I think there are so many
- 14:09ways for people to play this venue, but I feel
- 14:11pretty sure nobody has had more fun there, brought more
- 14:14joy or that free wheeling sand bar experience than No
- 14:17Shoes Nation, and wherever they sat we could hear them too.
- 14:20So if you didn't get to see it, come on,
- 14:22and if you did well, Come on see these live
- 14:24songs again, because this isn't something you get to do
- 14:27every single year. This year, fans can also look forward
- 14:30to an all new guitars tiki bars experience, plus VIP
- 14:34package holders will enjoy exclusive access to a private Vibe
- 14:37room complete with its own surf shop bar and dedicated space. Next,
- 14:43Post Malone and Jelly Roll to headline Boots in the
- 14:46Park twenty twenty six in Albuquerque. Boots in the Park
- 14:50is returning to Albuquerque at the Iconic Balloon Fiesta Park

- 16:07and genre blending sound. With hits like Save Me, Need
- 16:10a Favor and Son of a Sinner, He continues to
- 16:12connect with audiences on a deeply personal level. Post Malone
- 16:16will headline Saturday night, bringing his chart topping boundary pushing
- 16:19energy to the Boots in the Park stage. Following his
- 16:22celebrated crossover into country with the smash hit I Had
- 16:25Some Help and a highly anticipated country album on the way,
- 16:29Post is redefining what it means to be a modern
- 16:31day music icon. We're proud to return to Albuquerque for
- 16:35year three of Boots in the Parks at Steve Thatcher,
- 16:38CEO of Activated Events. New Mexico embraced this festival from
- 16:42the start and it's quickly becoming a destination event. With
- 16:45a powerhouse line up featuring Post Malone and Jelly Roll
- 16:48in the addition of Texas country favorites, this year will
- 16:50be our biggest yet. This two day country music celebration
- 16:54officially goes on sale to the general public on Friday,
- 16:58November seventh. Now we scoot on over to people dot
- 17:02com Country a first article dated October twenty eighth, Brad
- 17:07Paisley has played before four World Series games. Every single
- 17:12one has gone into extra innings. Brad Paisley's continuing a
- 17:17quirky Major League Baseball tradition. The country music star, now
- 17:21fifty three, performed at World Series Game three on Monday,
- 17:24which saw the Los Angeles Dodgers face off against the
- 17:27Toronto Blue Jays at Dodgers Stadium. His national anthem performance
- 17:32came after Canadian singer songwriter J. P. Sachs performed the
- 17:35Canadian national anthem, Oh Canada Paisley's performance marked the fourth
- 17:40time he has sung national anthemhead of a World Series game,
- 17:44and the fourth time his performance preceded a surprisingly long game.
- 17:49The She's Everything singer previously performed at World Series Game
- 17:52two in twenty seventeen, which lasted eleven innings, World Series
- 17:57Game three in twenty eighteen, which lasted eighteen innings, World
- 18:02Series Game one in twenty twenty four, which lasted ten innings,
- 18:06and Monday Evenings Game which lasted eighteen innings. Per MLB's
- 18:10official x account, both eighteen inning games in World Series
- 18:15history were started by Brad Paisley singing the national anthem
- 18:20in the bottom of the eighteenth The Dodgers finally secured
- 18:22the six to five win with Freddie Freeman's walk off
- 18:25home run. The twenty eighteen World Series Third Game, which
- 18:28coincidentally saw the Dodgers beat the Boston Red Sox, as
- 18:32I said, also lasted eighteen innings. They're both the longest
- 18:35games in World Series history. Though Paisley has yet to
- 18:39comment on the fan theory, his wife, Kimberly Williams Paisley
- 18:42referenced it in a comment on his Instagram video post
- 18:45from the performance. Is that your fault and went eighteen
- 18:48innings again. Nice of the Dodgers to win for your birthday.
- 18:53Brad and Kimberly, meanwhile, have had plenty to celebrate in
- 18:55recent days, including Kimberly's fifty fourth birthday. On September fourteenth.
- 19:00They marked the occasion by announcing that a donkey had
- 19:03just joined their crew, with Brad posting a photo on
- 19:05Instagram of Kimberly posing with the animal. A beautiful donkey
- 19:10was just born on our farm, the country singer began
- 19:12the post's caption. Speaking of he continued, it's the beautiful
- 19:15Kimberly Williams Paisley's birthday today. Happy birthday. He then joked,
- 19:20as I write this, I realized what a bad idea
- 19:22it may have been to combine the two announcements. I'm
- 19:25not saying anyway similar or that she is a Maybe
- 19:28I should edit this. The couple's romance began in two
- 19:31thousand and one when the Whiskey Lullaby musician asked the
- 19:34actress to star in one of his music videos, and
- 19:36they started dating not long after. Next, country singer Jamison
- 19:42Rogers face his lawsuit after allegedly throwing full beer can
- 19:46that struck a fan at a concert. Country singer Jamison
- 19:51Rodgers is still navigating a twenty twenty two personal injury
- 19:54lawsuit stemming from an incident where he allegedly threw a
- 19:57full can of beer at a fan while performing at
- 19:59ba Foot Country Music Festival in Wildwood, New Jersey. According
- 20:03to court documents viewed by People, plaint of Samantha Hawes
- 20:07followed a filed a complaint asserting she was hit with
- 20:10a full, unopened beer can that defended Jameson Rodgers through
- 20:13from the stage as he was performing at the Barefoot
- 20:17County Music Festival. The court opinion document, which was filed
- 20:20with Superior Court of New Jersey, listed Rogers along with
- 20:24Sony Music, Southern Entertainment, and Most and Corps as defendants.
- 20:28Hawes noted in her original lawsuit that the can, which
- 20:31was allegedly thrown by Rogers, struck her violently and without
- 20:34warning in the head and facial area. This, according to Billboard,
- 20:37and caused severe, painful and permanent bodily injuries. The lawsuit
- 20:41officially initially was filed in May twenty first of that year.
- 20:45Per Trellis law has remained active over the past year plus,
- 20:48but reached a new point of interest when opinion from
- 20:51the Appellate Division shared on October twenty second that Sony
- 20:54Music Rogers label must remain involved in the case. Initially,
- 20:58Sony Music attempted to re move itself from the lawsuit
- 21:01due to its claim that the company does not have
- 21:03jurisdiction over what happens at festivals that their artists participate
- 21:06in and that they do not operate in New Jersey. However,
- 21:10the latest update has determined that Sony will remain involved
- 21:13as the court feels it could be determined that Rogers
- 21:16may have acted as an agent of his label when
- 21:18the incident occurred. People reached out to Sony Music, Molson
- 21:22Coor's Southern Entertainment, and Reps for Rogers for comment, but
- 21:26they did not immediately respond. Next, Anne Murray Talk's totally
- 21:32unexpected new album and why it may be her last
- 21:35foray into the music business. In two thousand and eight,
- 21:39Anne Murray gracefully retired from courting and performing, choosing to
- 21:43conclude a legendary forty year career on her own terms
- 21:47and at a point when her voice, which is enchanted
- 21:49legions of fans worldwide and led to her being dubbed
- 21:52Canada's Snowbird was still at its best. Fast forward to
- 21:56twenty twenty five, Murray sits proudly in Nashville, a city
- 22:00where many musicians count her as an inspiration made their name.
- 22:04She tells people in a rare interview that it feels
- 22:06shocking to be at this stage in her life and career,
- 22:09discussing her first new body of recorded work in almost
- 22:12two decades. It's called Here You Are. It's shocking because
- 22:16it came out of left field, just totally out of
- 22:19left field. Murray, who's now eighty, shares I never would
- 22:22have known about it had it not been for this
- 22:24super fan who dug deep and found all these things
- 22:26that were in the archives. The iconic artist, whom Elvis
- 22:30Presley once called one of his favorite singers, recalls that
- 22:33conversations about the forgotten works from her archive began roughly
- 22:37five years ago. She admits, I really didn't pay much
- 22:40attention because I thought, well, there are songs that have
- 22:42been discarded. They've been put to the side. I mustn't
- 22:45have wanted them at the time either, so they mustn't
- 22:47be that great. Evidently, persistence from the fan led Murray
- 22:51to reevaluate her perspective on the tracks. Well, he says, yeah,
- 22:56but you should have listened to them. I finally came around,
- 22:58and I finally listened, and I have to say I
- 23:00was very pleasantly surprised at what I heard. I was shocked, actually,
- 23:04as I said, I went, Wow, how could I have
- 23:06let left these behind? They're good songs. The valleant efforts
- 23:11to bring those recordings to light and into Murray's good
- 23:13graces culminate, and here you are, with eleven previously unreleased
- 23:17tracks spanning just thirty three minutes of runtime, Murray weaves
- 23:21a short but sweet tapestry that effortlessly intermingles her country,
- 23:25pop and adult contemporary sensibilities into a cohesive singular voice
- 23:30that is certain to delight new and old fans Alike.
- 23:33Murray didn't tackle the project alone either. She brought along
- 23:36her daughter Don Langstroth and nephew Dale Murray, who recorded
- 23:39new vocals and a guitar solo on Bring All Your
- 23:41Headaches to Me, which is featured on the product I'm Sorry,
- 23:45Let's Bring All Your heart Aches to Me, which is
- 23:46featured on the project. She shares, they asked me to
- 23:49program them and do whatever I wanted to do. I
- 23:52did all that and worked on them a little bit.
- 23:54I had my daughter come and do some background vocals.
- 23:56I had my nephew play some pedal steel. It was
- 23:59so fun to get back on the studio again, and
- 24:02after all these years. It was just a labor of
- 24:04love that was totally unexpected, Murray says, though she admits
- 24:08that this surprise effort to release a project is likely
- 24:11to be her last. I think that my last album
- 24:14was my album was called Duets. I thought that was
- 24:16my last album. That was a real surprise, she reflects.
- 24:19I suspect it will be my last foray into the
- 24:22music business. But if there's something else on the horizon,
- 24:24I don't know. Who knows. You never know. Though Murray
- 24:27recognizes here you Are may spark the end of her
- 24:29recording career, she adds that she is open to just
- 24:32about anything at this stage. In Tandem was celebrating the
- 24:36release of her new album. Murray was also lauded as
- 24:38country music's most iconic Stage with the Music of My
- 24:41Life and all Star Tribute to Anne Murray at the
- 24:44Grand Old Opry on Monday, October twenty seventh, The lineup
- 24:47brought together Tricia Yearwood and Martina McBride, as well as
- 24:51fellow Canadian music royalties such as Michelle Wright and Kadi Lang,
- 24:54who all took to the stage to perform in honor
- 24:57of Murray's legendary career and impact on country music. Kudo
- 25:01she feels honored to receive. However, reflecting on the iconic
- 25:05moments throughout her career that culminated in a dedicated oper tribute,
- 25:09Murray shares at times were not quite so easy when
- 25:12she got started. But there was a time when I
- 25:14was back in Nova Scotia and all of a sudden,
- 25:16I had a song on the Billboard charts with Snowbird,
- 25:19and what's the likelihood of that? It was the farthest
- 25:22thing from my mind. The Grammy Juno and CMA Award
- 25:25winner says, I just went, well, Okay, if that's the
- 25:27way it's going to be. That's the way I felt
- 25:29about her all these years later, that if it's coming
- 25:31your way, you just go with it. Ultimately, Murray surmises
- 25:36that at this stage in her career, she's very proud
- 25:38of this album, really happy to be in a position
- 25:40where she can both release new work to her legions
- 25:43of fans and be present for a legendary night earmarking
- 25:46a legendary career in the music industry. The fact that
- 25:49I'm having this tribute concert now means that not everybody
- 25:52has forgotten, but I'm flattered and I'm honored that this
- 25:54is happening. Here you are is available on all major
- 25:57streaming platforms. Now now down the block, we go to
- 26:02the boot dot com. With the first article dated October
- 26:05twenty eighth, Tim McGraw says Faith Hill has had five
- 26:09next surgeries. Tim McGraw isn't the only member of his
- 26:12household who spent more time in a hospital gown than preferable.
- 26:16His wife, Country star Faith Hill has also undergone several surgeries,
- 26:20including five on her neck. This isn't the first time
- 26:23Hill's next surgeries have made news. In two thousand fifteen,
- 26:27she underwent a relatively common procedure called an anterior cervical
- 26:30diyskectomy and fusion that came after a twenty eleven procedure,
- 26:36had three more neck surgeries, two more on her hand,
- 26:38and you're getting an idea of the challenges she's faced
- 26:41across the last decade. Fox News shared a video of
- 26:44McGrath speaking from the stage on October twenty fifth. Both
- 26:48the doctor who did his knee replacements and the doctor
- 26:50who did Hill's hand surgeries were on hand for the show.
- 26:54During the process of healing physically and mentally, I had
- 26:57this idea for this song. It's sort of dealt with
- 26:59facing age and facing all that stuff that comes along
- 27:02with it, McGraw shares faith Hill is not currently thought
- 27:05to be working on new music. In fact, she seems
- 27:08to be putting distance between herself and her career. In
- 27:12the summer of twenty twenty four, all of her social
- 27:14media profiles were deleted and her official website was taken offline.
- 27:19She's made a few public appearances with her husband since,
- 27:22and the couple has been spotted attending an event of
- 27:24support of her daughter, but she's not performed publicly in years.
- 27:30And finally, Darius Rutger's children want to be musicians, but
- 27:33he is so against it. Darius Rucker was a guest
- 27:36on Taste of Country Nights, where he spoke about his
- 27:38two youngest children wanting to be musicians and he's not
- 27:41thrilled about it. They asked Rutger how his three kids
- 27:44are awesome. They're awesome. My two youngest all of a sudden,
- 27:46want to be musicians, and I'm so against that, Rucker says,
- 27:49because it's such a hard business. Even if you have
- 27:51a little bit of success, you're chasing that forever. I
- 27:54wanted them to be doctors and lawyers and such. But
- 27:57you know, we'll see. Rutger's two younger children, Daniella twenty
- 28:00four and Jack twenty one, are two of his three
- 28:03kids who want to pursue music. Their dad has been
- 28:05active in the music industry for more than thirty years,
- 28:07of course, both with Hoody and the Blowfish and his
- 28:10solo career in country music. This concludes the reading of
