- Lucas: Velkommen til Learn Norwegian with Fexingo! I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna! Hey, I was just thinking about our last episode with 'å lese' and 'å skrive'. Lucas: Oh, nice! Those are so useful. Today we're adding two more verbs to your toolkit: 'å snakke' and 'å høre'. Luna: Okay, let me guess. 'Å snakke' means 'to speak', right? Lucas: Exactly! 'Å snakke' is 'to speak' or 'to talk'. Say it with me: å snakke. Luna: Å snakke. Lucas: Perfect! Now, 'Jeg snakker norsk.' — 'I speak Norwegian.' Luna: Jeg snakker norsk. That's a good one! And how do I say 'Do you speak Norwegian?' Lucas: Great question! That's 'Snakker du norsk?' Luna: Snakker du norsk? So the verb changes based on who's doing the action. Lucas: Right! In present tense, we add -r. So 'å snakke' becomes 'snakker' for jeg, du, han, hun, and so on. Luna: Got it. Now what about 'å høre'? Lucas: 'Å høre' is 'to hear'. Can you say it? Luna: Å høre. Sounds like 'her-e'. Lucas: That's close! Now, 'Jeg hører deg.' — 'I hear you.' Luna: Jeg hører deg. So 'hører' is the present tense form. Lucas: Exactly! And to ask 'Do you hear me?' you say 'Hører du meg?' Luna: Hører du meg? Lucas, can we practice a little dialogue? Lucas: Sure! Let's pretend you're at a party. I ask you: 'Snakker du norsk?' Luna: Jeg snakker litt norsk. Hører du meg? Lucas: Ja, jeg hører deg. Bra! You're doing great. Luna: Takk! So 'å snakke' and 'å høre' — I can already use them. Lucas: Let's do a quick callback to earlier episodes. Remember 'å spise' and 'å drikke'? Luna: Yeah! 'Jeg spiser' and 'Jeg drikker'. So same pattern with 'å snakke' and 'å høre'. Lucas: You got it. Now, imagine you're at a café and you want to tell someone you speak Norwegian. What do you say? Luna: Jeg snakker norsk. Lucas: And if you didn't catch what they said? Luna: Hmm... 'Hører du meg?' No, that's 'do you hear me'. Maybe 'Unnskyld, jeg hører ikke'? Lucas: Ooh, almost! 'Unnskyld, jeg hører ikke' works. Or you can say 'Jeg hører deg ikke' = 'I don't hear you'. Luna: Jeg hører deg ikke. That's useful. Lucas: Okay, let's do a quick round. I say English, you say Norwegian. 'I speak Norwegian.' Luna: Jeg snakker norsk. Lucas: Do you hear me? Luna: Hører du meg? Lucas: I hear you. Luna: Jeg hører deg. Lucas: Perfect! You're really getting the hang of it. Luna: Thanks, Lucas! You know, if today's episode helped someone actually speak a bit of Norwegian, that's pretty cool. Lucas: Yeah, and the way Fexingo keeps these lessons ad-free is thanks to listener support. If you found this useful, consider buying us a coffee at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Luna: It really helps us keep making episodes like this. And speaking of help, let's practice one more time with a longer sentence. Lucas: Good idea. Try this: 'Jeg snakker norsk, og jeg hører deg.' Luna: Jeg snakker norsk, og jeg hører deg. 'I speak Norwegian and I hear you.' Lucas: That's it. Now make it a question: 'Snakker du norsk og hører du meg?' Luna: Snakker du norsk og hører du meg? Phew, that's a mouthful but I got it. Lucas: Awesome. So today we learned 'å snakke' and 'å høre'. Say them with me one more time: å snakke. Luna: Å snakke. Lucas: Å høre. Luna: Å høre. Lucas: Great. Keep practicing, and next time we'll build on these. Thanks for learning with Fexingo! Luna: See you next episode!
