Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Benn and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with i R Radio. Hopefully you guys already caught episode
- 0:08Speaker 1: one of our two parter with Clayton and Susie. It's
- 0:12Speaker 1: been awesome catching up with them. We are going to
- 0:15Speaker 1: in this second half talk about their future and where
- 0:19Speaker 1: they see themselves in a few years together and how
- 0:22Speaker 1: they make each other feel better when they're down. When
- 0:26Speaker 1: we last spoke with you, Clayton, it was right coming
- 0:29Speaker 1: up to the end of your finale. It was probably
- 0:32Speaker 1: the roughest week during your season for you personally. Um,
- 0:36Speaker 1: you're in a weird limbo space where you're like, hey,
- 0:38Speaker 1: I'm kind of happy. I'm really happy, but I can't
- 0:41Speaker 1: talk about it yet. All this criticism, and you know, Susie,
- 0:44Speaker 1: you're sitting there seeing him get this criticism based on
- 0:48Speaker 1: your scenario, not being able to speak out on it either. Uh.
- 0:51Speaker 1: And I remember there that conversation Clayton was the only
- 0:54Speaker 1: thing I said, um, because one of the producers are
- 0:57Speaker 1: talked to me about it was like, Hey, this is
- 0:58Speaker 1: gonna get better, Like it's gonna suck for a bit,
- 1:01Speaker 1: but like this too shall pass. I don't know how
- 1:04Speaker 1: it was going to work back then was this too
- 1:05Speaker 1: shall pass? So for the two of you, how have
- 1:07Speaker 1: you worked together on helping it pass and moving on now?
- 1:11Speaker 1: And then? If you don't mind Susie within that even
- 1:13Speaker 1: talking about that season of life where you weren't able
- 1:15Speaker 1: to kind of support Clayton publicly. Yeah, Um, I guess
- 1:21Speaker 1: to address that that specific time period, it was really
- 1:25Speaker 1: tough because when we were on the show, a conversation
- 1:28Speaker 1: we had um after it was the day that I
- 1:33Speaker 1: briefly met his parents. Um, we came outside and at
- 1:36Speaker 1: that point I felt in my heart that Clayton and
- 1:38Speaker 1: I were not going to be together like ever. Um,
- 1:41Speaker 1: I really didn't think that we were going to get
- 1:43Speaker 1: back together. But I did love him as a person,
- 1:45Speaker 1: Like at that point, I had loved him as a person,
- 1:48Speaker 1: you know, several weeks before that, I knew the type
- 1:50Speaker 1: of man that he was. He was a good person,
- 1:52Speaker 1: had a really good heart. The way he treated everybody
- 1:55Speaker 1: around him was with kind and compassion like every single
- 1:58Speaker 1: individual he was and you know, invested in learning about
- 2:01Speaker 1: and talking to and addressing politely like he's I could
- 2:05Speaker 1: tell that he was a good person, But at that
- 2:06Speaker 1: point I didn't think we're going to be together, and
- 2:09Speaker 1: I remember saying to him, like, I am going to
- 2:12Speaker 1: have your back because this is not going to be good,
- 2:15Speaker 1: but I will like speak out and like I I
- 2:18Speaker 1: will have your back because this is gonna be bad.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Like I remember just being like, this is not good.
- 2:23Speaker 1: But I know your heart and I know you're a
- 2:26Speaker 1: good person, but I also I know this is going
- 2:30Speaker 1: to be hard. But because we did end up getting
- 2:33Speaker 1: back together after the season, I was not able to
- 2:37Speaker 1: be public about that, like had that truly been the ending,
- 2:40Speaker 1: where like that was truly goodbye. Um, I mean we
- 2:44Speaker 1: probably would have had to reckon sole for me to
- 2:46Speaker 1: truly feel that way, because you did you apologize for
- 2:48Speaker 1: how that night went and stuff, and I apologize as well.
- 2:51Speaker 1: But um, I mean yeah, I think had we not
- 2:56Speaker 1: been together, I would have been able to publicly be
- 2:58Speaker 1: like you, guys, like there is so much more to everything,
- 3:02Speaker 1: and I'm telling you he is a good person with
- 3:05Speaker 1: a good heart and this was a really messy, challenging,
- 3:09Speaker 1: confusing situation and like please have please have empathy for
- 3:14Speaker 1: him in this moment, like we need not need to
- 3:16Speaker 1: like hurt him or cancel him or whatever was happening,
- 3:20Speaker 1: Like so many people were so mad at both of us.
- 3:22Speaker 1: To be honest, so many people were mad at both
- 3:24Speaker 1: of us. But I couldn't say anything because yeah, I
- 3:28Speaker 1: was with him at that once it was airing, I
- 3:29Speaker 1: was back together with him. Um, So that was really
- 3:32Speaker 1: hard for me because all I could do is be
- 3:34Speaker 1: there in person for him and be the best you know,
- 3:39Speaker 1: support that I could for that. But publicly, yeah, I
- 3:41Speaker 1: mean I feel like I probably I would publicly defend anybody,
- 3:44Speaker 1: even half the villains. And I'm like, we're all people,
- 3:47Speaker 1: like you know, like Okay, they're a villain, but like
- 3:49Speaker 1: it's a human being. We're all humans, and like everyone's
- 3:52Speaker 1: a villain at some point in their life. We've all
- 3:54Speaker 1: done bad things at some point in our life or
- 3:57Speaker 1: things that if somebody is looking in on your life
- 3:59Speaker 1: with the camera lens you didn't know it, you'd probably
- 4:02Speaker 1: be ashamed of, you know. Definitely, what are little things
- 4:05Speaker 1: that you do to make each other feel better in
- 4:07Speaker 1: moments like that, like even if it's giving them an
- 4:09Speaker 1: ice cream Sunday. Come on, Jess, I hope Jesse listens
- 4:17Speaker 1: to this. Come on, girl, Uh, you know, I think
- 4:22Speaker 1: it's just trying to pay attention to I like to
- 4:25Speaker 1: compile a list of my phone. Uh, just like when
- 4:29Speaker 1: she says she likes something putting in in there. And
- 4:31Speaker 1: then if I ever feel that there's a rainy day
- 4:34Speaker 1: and I can do something, then it's then that's when
- 4:37Speaker 1: I go grab something from the store. Or we went
- 4:40Speaker 1: on like a pic picnic date on the beach, just
- 4:43Speaker 1: just like a month and a half ago, I think,
- 4:44Speaker 1: or maybe a little longer, but uh yeah, just being
- 4:47Speaker 1: able to like have things stored and ready to go
- 4:50Speaker 1: because you know those days will come. So that's I
- 4:54Speaker 1: guess how I do. It was just, yeah, just keeping
- 4:57Speaker 1: notes because I think there's so much going on the
- 5:00Speaker 1: world and trying to wrap your head around every little
- 5:02Speaker 1: thing someone says. But if you're intentional about it, then
- 5:04Speaker 1: that can go a long way, just by saying, hey,
- 5:06Speaker 1: I got this four year centator having a tough day. Yeah,
- 5:10Speaker 1: I think for me with you, I think there's been
- 5:14Speaker 1: a lot of days where you've been really down about
- 5:16Speaker 1: like the future, and you've been like, I don't know
- 5:19Speaker 1: what this is gonna look like, I don't know how
- 5:21Speaker 1: this is going to work out. And I think the
- 5:23Speaker 1: one way that I've been able, at least from My
- 5:26Speaker 1: perspective to support you is that I'm like, I literally
- 5:28Speaker 1: believe in you, Like I I see no future in
- 5:33Speaker 1: which you're not you know, achieving everything that you dreamt
- 5:35Speaker 1: of or whatever. So I think just providing that support
- 5:39Speaker 1: and reassurance to like, you know, reinforce your self esteem
- 5:45Speaker 1: that you that you do have, but like when you're
- 5:47Speaker 1: struggling in that, just being able to be there and
- 5:50Speaker 1: say that I believe in you like that's I think
- 5:53Speaker 1: the biggest thing or I do. I've done like a
- 5:57Speaker 1: surprise day night and fun little things like that too.
- 6:00Speaker 1: It I think that's the biggest thing I can provide
- 6:02Speaker 1: in those moments, such a good Yeah, that's that's so powerful.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Um My wife and I just learned that about each
- 6:10Speaker 1: other right now. So for the two of you where
- 6:12Speaker 1: you're at, you know, we've been together a little longer
- 6:14Speaker 1: three years, but just for her to tell me she
- 6:17Speaker 1: believes in me, it means the world to me, Like
- 6:21Speaker 1: it changes everything because I know, no matter what we're
- 6:23Speaker 1: going together and we've had our rough times, everybody's asking
- 6:37Speaker 1: you the same uh questions, when are you get engaged?
- 6:41Speaker 1: What's the major wedding going to look like? All those
- 6:42Speaker 1: things I want to ask in a different way, Uh,
- 6:45Speaker 1: speaking of future, where are you two at, Like, how
- 6:49Speaker 1: are you two working towards that? What are you doing
- 6:51Speaker 1: in your life to get to a place where you
- 6:54Speaker 1: feel like, hey, we're ready for this next step or
- 6:56Speaker 1: maybe you never already, But what does your futures look
- 6:59Speaker 1: like right now? Uh? Yeah, I think for us, we
- 7:05Speaker 1: look at immediate future. And so her lease is ending
- 7:10Speaker 1: in the next couple of months, and we started to
- 7:13Speaker 1: look at places to move to. And I think right
- 7:16Speaker 1: now the topic is Phoenix, Arizona. I have my brothers
- 7:21Speaker 1: out there, my other um, it's just my other brothers
- 7:25Speaker 1: close by, and then yeah, my family. I guess if
- 7:28Speaker 1: we're all in the same area, maybe my parents will
- 7:31Speaker 1: end up moving there one day. But it's it's also
- 7:33Speaker 1: a great spot, very conveniently allocated to a lot of
- 7:37Speaker 1: different things. So we're, yeah, thinking about just buying a place.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Hopefully the market cools off a little bit. But that's
- 7:44Speaker 1: kind of the immediate future is to move in. We
- 7:47Speaker 1: already moved in together, but to move now next chapter
- 7:49Speaker 1: of our life into something a little bit more than
- 7:52Speaker 1: just a small, little temporary apartment, So that would be it.
- 7:56Speaker 1: And then from there. I don't know if we've just
- 8:00Speaker 1: like we just we see all the questions being asked,
- 8:02Speaker 1: and we just, you know, say when we're already like
- 8:05Speaker 1: when whenever that feels right, and I don't I don't
- 8:09Speaker 1: think there needs to really be a defendive timeline. I
- 8:12Speaker 1: think we're just like, hey, when we feel that the
- 8:14Speaker 1: timing is right, then we'll both know. Clayton have to
- 8:18Speaker 1: ask before we let you guys go, how do you
- 8:20Speaker 1: feel about there being two bachelorettes? I just I hope
- 8:27Speaker 1: it goes really well because I would think if I
- 8:31Speaker 1: had to put myself in their shoes, as I try
- 8:33Speaker 1: to do now more more so than anything with any situation,
- 8:37Speaker 1: if I was in their shoes, I think my biggest
- 8:39Speaker 1: concern would be not getting being jealous or envious or
- 8:44Speaker 1: comparing myself. I think that's one of the kind of
- 8:48Speaker 1: I would imagine one of the toughest challenges. And I
- 8:51Speaker 1: don't want to I don't want to speak for those two,
- 8:52Speaker 1: but I just know me personally. If I was with
- 8:55Speaker 1: another bachelor, I think that would be something that inevitably
- 8:59Speaker 1: if one person was getting more attention, and you would
- 9:02Speaker 1: start to compare yourself naturally, I think so. I hope
- 9:07Speaker 1: it really works out for the two of them. I
- 9:08Speaker 1: think they're both too really mature individuals, and so I
- 9:12Speaker 1: hope that they team up and they and do it
- 9:15Speaker 1: together and don't allow those negative thoughts to creep in. Uh.
- 9:19Speaker 1: But it's it's gonna be challenging, it's gonna it's gonna
- 9:21Speaker 1: definitely push them to their limits to grow as individuals,
- 9:24Speaker 1: to really love themselves, because you have to if you're
- 9:27Speaker 1: ever in a situation like that, I would have to
- 9:29Speaker 1: imagine you have to love yourself so that you are
- 9:32Speaker 1: thinking positively and not allowing those negative thoughts to creep
- 9:35Speaker 1: in and potentially affect you to the point where you
- 9:38Speaker 1: can't navigate that journey to the best your ability. And
- 9:41Speaker 1: this last question to both of you. They keep saying,
- 9:45Speaker 1: the producers the advertisements that they're not going to be
- 9:48Speaker 1: pitted against each other. Do you see anyway and which
- 9:51Speaker 1: that could happen? I don't think so, I mean doesn't.
- 9:55Speaker 1: I don't think it seems like it at all based
- 9:57Speaker 1: on any of the h you know, like not spoilers,
- 10:02Speaker 1: the teasers or you know, the social media. Um, it
- 10:05Speaker 1: seems to be like like the brand is two best friends.
- 10:10Speaker 1: So I mean, I don't think that's the attention. I
- 10:13Speaker 1: don't think that. I don't think either of those girls
- 10:16Speaker 1: are really like that, So I think it'd be really
- 10:17Speaker 1: hard to do that. Yeah, I would just say the
- 10:21Speaker 1: only way would be if they both happen to catch
- 10:23Speaker 1: feelings for the same guy, and and if that guy
- 10:26Speaker 1: happens to be torn what he likes both of them equally.
- 10:29Speaker 1: I mean, it would be a perfect storm in my opinion,
- 10:32Speaker 1: for that to happen. But I suppose that's the only
- 10:35Speaker 1: way where it could potentially become troublesome. So I think
- 10:39Speaker 1: for everyone, for their sake, for everyone waiting, Like I'm
- 10:42Speaker 1: sure people do what love drama, there'll be some individuals
- 10:45Speaker 1: I won't want to see that, But to me, that
- 10:47Speaker 1: would have to be a perfect storm. I think outside
- 10:49Speaker 1: of that, I imagine that those two will handle it
- 10:51Speaker 1: really well. Jason Tarty brought up a great point just
- 10:55Speaker 1: to kind of close this thought when he was on
- 10:57Speaker 1: the podcast a week ago. He's like, you know, I
- 10:59Speaker 1: think it's going to be hardest post show, as you
- 11:01Speaker 1: guys kind of probably can imagine when like Instagram followers
- 11:05Speaker 1: and add deals and appearances and conversations. Who likes who better?
- 11:10Speaker 1: He's like, I'm really interesting how they navigate the post
- 11:13Speaker 1: show part of this too. Uh. And to see how
- 11:15Speaker 1: they continue to be friends and bond and support each other.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Uh after the show is done. Well. Uh, we really
- 11:22Speaker 1: appreciate your time with us. Thank you for taking the
- 11:25Speaker 1: time to come on and talk. Uh. Last question to
- 11:28Speaker 1: kind of end everything, uh, as we're talking about this
- 11:31Speaker 1: next season of The Bachelor atte Uh, Susie, who have
- 11:34Speaker 1: you stayed close with from your season? If anybody you
- 11:36Speaker 1: don't have to? I mean, you know, time goes on,
- 11:38Speaker 1: things fade, but uh, if you two were to get
- 11:41Speaker 1: married tomorrow, would anybody from your season be invited? I would.
- 11:47Speaker 1: I mean I would say open invitation anyone that wants
- 11:49Speaker 1: to come party coming. But I think probably my my
- 11:53Speaker 1: closest friend from the show like that I've been able
- 11:57Speaker 1: to spend time with and see it has been Marlina.
- 11:59Speaker 1: She's just literally one of the most supportive, amazing people. UM,
- 12:04Speaker 1: and I've had you know, access to over these past
- 12:06Speaker 1: few months. We were able to get together and stuff
- 12:09Speaker 1: like that. Um. Obviously there's there's people at Paradise right
- 12:13Speaker 1: now that you know or they've been at Paradise at
- 12:16Speaker 1: some point. I'm sure that they. I haven't been able
- 12:19Speaker 1: to talk to or you know, the Bachelotte season happened
- 12:22Speaker 1: and stuff, so, um, you haven't always I haven't always
- 12:26Speaker 1: had access to people, but um, I've been able to
- 12:29Speaker 1: keep in touch with a lot of the girls. I know.
- 12:31Speaker 1: We've met up with Hunter in North Carolina. Um, they
- 12:35Speaker 1: talked to Jill pretty frequently. So there's and yeah, I
- 12:38Speaker 1: mean a lot of the girls I went, I was
- 12:39Speaker 1: in l A. I was able to see so but
- 12:41Speaker 1: Marline is definitely one of the people that has like
- 12:44Speaker 1: proactively been reaching out and like checking in. She's like
- 12:48Speaker 1: a really just good human with a lot of I
- 12:52Speaker 1: would say, like, um kind of like mental health awareness,
- 12:56Speaker 1: like you know, she's been through a lot and she
- 12:57Speaker 1: so she knows to check on her friends kind of
- 12:59Speaker 1: a thing. So sweet, So good to hear that. All Right, Well, guys,
- 13:03Speaker 1: thank you so much for coming on and bearing your hearts.
- 13:07Speaker 1: We really appreciate it. Thanks for having follow the Benn
