- 0:00Eric: This podcast was created by fans or fans and is not affiliated with or sponsored by Hallmark or the Hallmark channel.
- 0:09Eric: This is Eric and this is Hallmark Mysteries and more.
- 0:22Eric: All right, everybody, here we are on the podcast and I do not have Sydney, but I have Mystery 101.
- 0:30Eric: Superfan Aiden Harmstead.
- 0:33Eric: How are you doing?
- 0:35Aiden: Hey, I'm doing good.
- 0:37Aiden: I like that.
- 0:38Aiden: I am a superfan.
- 0:39Eric: Yes, you are.
- 0:40Eric: Whenever I find myself getting in a little bit of trouble with my Mystery 101 conversations which most of them are inadvertent because why I like the series and I think it's very, very good it's not my favorite and so sometimes I inadvertently maybe dismiss Mystery 101 more than it intends, and so you've kept me on the straighten arrow sometimes.
- 1:12Eric: So I appreciate that.
- 1:15Aiden: So Well you know, the Mystery 101 fans are a passionate group.
- 1:20Eric: I didn't notice that.
- 1:23Aiden: Yeah, yeah, now that I pointed it out, you know.
- 1:25Aiden: But yeah, it's a fun group.
- 1:30Aiden: It's a fun group, you know, we are there, there are a lot of us.
- 1:34Aiden: I'm one of many Mystery 101 superfans.
- 1:38Eric: Yes, you are.
- 1:38Eric: So what we're going to do is today we're just going to talk about that, like the Mystery 101 and why it is the most popular mystery Right.
- 1:50Eric: So when we did our March Mystery Madness Pool and we went through and we ranked Sydney and I were like, okay, we know Mystery 101 is going to win, but Science Seal delivered will be.
- 2:03Eric: You know it'll be neck and neck between those two and then the Chronicle and the Crossword Mysteries will probably be a little bit behind there.
- 2:11Eric: But it was a bloodbath.
- 2:14Eric: Basically Mystery 101.
- 2:17Eric: It wasn't even close and I was surprised at how much Mystery 101 clobbered Science Seal delivered, because I would view that as sort of the second most passionate group or maybe as equal to the same, and it just did not have the numbers.
- 2:35Eric: So you, being a superfan, like what is one of the things that first drew you to think wow?
- 2:45Eric: Like did you start watching it right away or did you start, like, around the third movie?
- 2:51Eric: And how to go back?
- 2:52Eric: Like how did you get sucked in?
- 2:55Aiden: Yeah, I mean, I got sucked in quick as soon as I started watching it, but I didn't start until a year ago, are you kidding?
- 3:03Aiden: Uh-uh, so it was last summer.
- 3:09Eric: I am blown away.
- 3:11Aiden: Mm-hmm and Hard and fast.
- 3:15Aiden: I know it's been fairly recent, but it's a passion right, it's a passion and it's an obsession, because I love the show.
- 3:22Aiden: But I watched the pilot, and I didn't even watch it on Hallmark, I watched it on Amazon Prime.
- 3:32Aiden: I was looking for something to watch on my phone, as I was sort of, you know, putzing around walking through the house type thing, mobile, and so I was, you know, just sort of stumbled upon Mystery 101.
- 3:46Aiden: It wasn't intentional.
- 3:46Aiden: I stumbled upon Mystery 101 on Amazon Prime and I watched the first three episodes like in quick succession, but that's all that Amazon Prime had.
- 4:01Eric: So All three on your phone.
- 4:03Aiden: Yeah, all on my phone.
- 4:04Aiden: In fact, I haven't watched any Mystery 101s on my TV except for, like the marathons or something like that.
- 4:10Aiden: I watched a lot of TV on my phone.
- 4:15Aiden: So I watched the first three and then I couldn't like I was in and I knew there were more.
- 4:20Aiden: So I sort of asked around, figured out that there were seven total of these movies.
- 4:24Aiden: It was desperate to watch four, five, six and seven, but they weren't airing for a number of weeks so I had to wait until they aired and then I could watch the first three episodes.
- 4:37Aiden: So I had to wait until they aired and then I could record them.
- 4:41Aiden: So within maybe a month I had all of them together.
- 4:47Aiden: But I did watch them out of sequence.
- 4:50Aiden: Which Mystery 101 fans?
- 4:52Aiden: The accounts?
- 4:53Aiden: The Instagram account Mystery 101 fans.
- 4:55Aiden: She gives me such a hard time because I watched them out of order.
- 5:01Eric: You did not start or you did not hit seven early, or did you?
- 5:05Aiden: I hit seven early.
- 5:07Eric: Yeah, that just really messes things up.
- 5:10Aiden: I hit okay, so I did one, two, three and then seven.
- 5:16Eric: Huh.
- 5:18Aiden: And then, because that's the next one that aired right, and so I got that one, I watched it, recorded it, and then I had to wait a few more weeks for the others to air.
- 5:31Eric: So it wasn't a marathon, they just happened to be showing.
- 5:34Aiden: Right, right, it wasn't a marathon, so I just picked up whichever ones were airing the soonest and I tried.
- 5:42Aiden: I waited like two days.
- 5:44Aiden: I tried to not watch seven, but I couldn't because I had it at my disposal and I couldn't.
- 5:51Aiden: I couldn't watch for that, no will power.
- 5:55Aiden: I tried, but it was okay in the end because I watched the first several, then I watched the last one and then I watched the middle ones.
- 6:03Aiden: But since then, of course, I've watched the entire series in sequence many, many, many times.
- 6:10Aiden: So I don't feel jipped.
- 6:11Aiden: I don't feel like.
- 6:12Aiden: You know.
- 6:15Aiden: I missed the slow burn of the relationship because I missed the slow burn, right.
- 6:20Aiden: I missed the slow burn of the relationship because of how many times I have watched it in sequence since.
- 6:26Aiden: So it turned out all right.
- 6:29Eric: So what do you think it was?
- 6:32Eric: That here you are picking some show just to have sort of as background as you're doing things around the house that got you sucked in and binged right away.
- 6:44Eric: I think it was like a three from Dexter just finding, and also I'm so perplexed at how you found it on.
- 6:50Eric: I didn't even know it was on prime, but we'll come back to that.
- 6:55Eric: But what was it like that really pulled you in?
- 6:59Eric: Was it the mystery?
- 7:00Eric: Was it Travis being as hot as Travis's?
- 7:04Eric: Was it the dynamic?
- 7:05Eric: Is it that you just really like Graham?
- 7:08Eric: That first thing that just pulled you in and said, okay, I'm going to become unhelpfully addicted to the show.
- 7:18Aiden: Yeah, I mean, obviously I wasn't expecting to fall in love with the show.
- 7:21Aiden: It was just sort of a random show that I picked.
- 7:24Aiden: So after I watched the first three right, I mean, my overall impression was this is charming, this is funny, this is well written and the leads are incredibly likable.
- 7:38Aiden: And really it's that last piece of the leads being so likable separately, like Travis to Nami, and then you could see, you know obviously where they're going with this, that they're going to get together at some point.
- 7:53Aiden: And you know, not only are those leads extremely likable, their chemistry is really intense.
- 8:02Aiden: So it really was the anticipation of the relationship that got me hooked.
- 8:09Aiden: I mean, from the very first meet, cute and the first pilot I mean the two together they're just dynamite when they're on screen.
- 8:17Aiden: So I felt something, I felt a connection with the leads and I liked where, where this was going, I knew that they were going to try to get them together at some point and I wanted to see see that happen.
- 8:31Aiden: So after the first three, I couldn't, I couldn't stop and I needed, I needed to watch the rest.
- 8:39Eric: Okay, so you're talking about their chemistry and how they're so good together and this and that Did you?
- 8:48Eric: Have you gone back?
- 8:49Eric: I assume you've watched Perlin Paradise, even because you're not like a hallmark movie person, right?
- 8:55Eric: You just like miss that mystery, want to want.
- 9:01Aiden: So so I've been in the hallmark world a long time.
- 9:04Aiden: I watched hallmark for a decade and I did watch Perlin Paradise when it came out like five years ago.
- 9:13Aiden: I remember watching it, but it didn't make a big impression at the time.
- 9:17Aiden: It was like one of their summer movies.
- 9:19Aiden: I remember watching it along with, you know, the other weekly movies that you know that that were on.
- 9:28Aiden: It made a big impression on me.
- 9:30Aiden: So when I was watching mystery one on one, I did not know who Christopher I was.
- 9:35Aiden: I did not know who Jill Wagner was, so it wasn't like I was going in Having an idea of having an affinity for these actors.
- 9:45Aiden: I didn't.
- 9:46Aiden: But that came very quickly Once I saw how, how well paired they were.
- 9:52Aiden: And then, as an subsequent to my obsession with mystery one on one, I have gone back and watch Perlin Paradise, you know, a dozen times.
- 10:02Eric: And now, all of a sudden, the chemistry is crazy right.
- 10:08Eric: This is great.
- 10:09Eric: Okay, so you're not tainted at all with your appreciation of that.
- 10:11Eric: I'm just saying, though, you said you like you watched all the hallmark for 10 years and like Christopher's been in a bunch of obviously regular hallmark rom-coms, as Jill has as well, so they just weren't.
- 10:24Eric: It wasn't until they got together in this dynamic where it really like for both of them kind of connected like daters, handbook or whatever it's like.
- 10:36Eric: Okay, you know some actor guys and that, but he didn't stick out to you until they got this, whatever.
- 10:45Eric: I guess it's all written down.
- 10:46Eric: John Christian Plummer is, I guess, the one to do.
- 10:51Eric: I give it to there.
- 10:52Eric: Okay, interesting.
- 10:53Eric: So yeah, I didn't.
- 10:55Eric: You obviously never talk about the rom-com stuff, so I just thought you could you have ventured a little bit into some other mysteries, right?
- 11:03Aiden: Yeah, I really.
- 11:06Aiden: Mystery one on one was my first, was my three.
- 11:09Aiden: I mean, up to that point I'd probably seen a couple tea gardens If they were on.
- 11:15Aiden: I probably, you know, watched a handful of pieces of those, but you know, not intentionally.
- 11:21Aiden: Mystery one on one was the first mystery series that I watched with intent to watch and, yeah, I'm hooked.
- 11:31Aiden: And I have, of course, watched, on your recommendation, gourmet detective, which is also excellent.
- 11:40Eric: Which was just on two of them tonight.
- 11:42Aiden: I know I'm surprised, I'm surprised, I'm surprised you scheduled this tonight, because I know they're done.
- 11:48Eric: I'm not knowing Martha's vineyard right now, so I watched, I watched, I got my, I got my brook fix in a little bit early, and then I yeah, we had this for afterwards, so yeah, and I recently watched crosswords and I have a long, I have a long list of the mysteries that I do want to watch that I haven't yet.
- 12:11Aiden: But yeah, I mean I watch, you know, a mix of the romcom and the mysteries, but definitely the mysteries are newer to me because I've been sort of in the in the hallmark channel proper world a long time as a viewer.
- 12:30Aiden: As a viewer I've been a fan.
- 12:32Aiden: The mysteries are new.
- 12:33Aiden: Basically, as of last summer when I started mystery, one on one realize how good it was.
- 12:40Eric: So mystery, one on one, took you from being a fan to being a fanatic Right.
- 12:47Aiden: Yeah, it did, I mean the show hit, the show hit me.
- 12:53Eric: You got to meet Chris.
- 12:55Aiden: Yes.
- 12:57Eric: Yes, I met Jill.
- 12:59Aiden: I've met Christopher twice.
- 13:00Aiden: I've not met Jill.
- 13:02Eric: Okay, no, what was it like the first?
- 13:05Eric: So I'm assuming it's been within the last year.
- 13:09Eric: So you met him twice within the last year.
- 13:13Aiden: Yes, so what was it like?
- 13:15Eric: that first time, when you, when you met him, like could you, could you talk where you just like?
- 13:21Eric: Oh my gosh.
- 13:25Aiden: Yeah, well, of course I get.
- 13:26Aiden: Um, yeah, I mean, I was, you know, fan-girling real bad, but um, he came to Chicago.
- 13:34Aiden: I live in Chicago.
- 13:35Aiden: He came to Chicago for a book signing because he's an author.
- 13:40Aiden: He's written two books, two romance novels.
- 13:43Aiden: The first one was moments like this and the second one is when the Sun Rises.
- 13:48Aiden: And he came through Chicago on his book tour for a second book, where the Sun Rises, in October of last year.
- 13:55Aiden: So I had just, really, several months prior, become uberfan of mystery 101 and uberfan of Christopher Pallaha and Jill Wagner and, as luck would have it, he comes to my town three months later.
- 14:12Aiden: So it was great.
- 14:15Aiden: I met him at the bookstore you know, stood in line, went through the line, he signed my book and I chatted with him for, you know, a couple minutes and he was completely Charming and as sweet as you would think.
- 14:29Eric: So were the other people in line from?
- 14:32Eric: Could you tell, were they Like Hallmark type people, or were they really ones who are that just there for the book?
- 14:40Aiden: There were a group of us that were fans of Hallmark Christopher Pallaha, as the they were.
- 14:50Aiden: You know they were there, was there was.
- 14:52Aiden: I was that party.
- 14:53Aiden: I was part of that group and then his co-author Also had a number of her fans there.
- 15:01Aiden: The books are co-authored, so it was sort of, you know, partly part of the crowd was for Christopher Pallaha, part of the crowd was for the co-author and part of the crowd really didn't know Anything about the background of the authors.
- 15:17Aiden: They were there for the book.
- 15:18Aiden: But it was fun because I got to meet, like in person, other you know uber fans of Christopher Pallaha that were like in the Midwest.
- 15:29Eric: So yeah, I don't even know the, the peeps I would recognize from From Instagram and your mystery one-on-one friends from there.
- 15:41Aiden: Yeah, I mean Bendy's home.
- 15:42Aiden: I met her.
- 15:45Eric: Naomi Peterson, I met her at the, at the book signing, or just okay.
- 15:51Aiden: Yep at the book signing Kelly Barker.
- 15:54Aiden: I met her, sarah Elliott.
- 15:57Aiden: She actually came from the West To Chicago.
- 16:03Aiden: Just for the book signing just well, she yes for the book signing.
- 16:08Aiden: Plus she was traveling through for other reasons.
- 16:10Aiden: So but I mean it was, it was a blast.
- 16:14Aiden: So we met him.
- 16:16Aiden: It was I mean it was really cute is really sweet took pictures with us.
- 16:22Aiden: We were like fangirling and you know, I'm sure it was.
- 16:26Aiden: I was so embarrassed.
- 16:27Eric: But no, it's funny because what you're making me think of is when we interviewed Brennan Elliott, who that Sydney's like her Hallmark crush, at first she couldn't talk.
- 16:42Eric: She was just like so excited that I had to add out a little bit at the beginning because she just Like her brain just shut off and she was just totally us fangirling it.
- 16:54Eric: And it was, it was hilarious.
- 16:56Eric: But I imagine, you know, if Brooke Burns ever, you know, came on and I Was able to meet her, I probably would not be able to speak for a week.
- 17:08Eric: So I can well.
- 17:11Aiden: It helped that I had something in my hand and something to give him and talk to him about, so I wasn't just sort of Going up to say hello.
- 17:20Aiden: I was saying hello, look, I bought your book, can you please sign it?
- 17:23Aiden: You know, I could Start saying something and then hoping something intelligent would follow.
- 17:30Aiden: But, I mean, I mean embarrassingly, I did.
- 17:33Aiden: You know he did.
- 17:36Aiden: He did a reading.
- 17:36Aiden: You know he read a part of his book before.
- 17:39Aiden: You know we all could get in line a sign.
- 17:42Aiden: And I'm sure I was staring at him in an insanely inappropriate, creepy intense way because I just was like I cannot believe.
- 17:50Aiden: You know my favorite actors is sitting Six feet away from me.
- 17:56Eric: I'm sure you're not the only one.
- 17:58Aiden: That was my, that was my introduction to him the creepy stare.
- 18:01Aiden: And then, once I did get up to the table, I'm sure I said a few, a few words.
- 18:06Aiden: I don't even remember what I said, but he was very sweet and then stayed after and took pictures with all of us, like together and individually, and I mean it was great.
- 18:16Aiden: And then the second time I met him was at Christmas con, kansas City a couple months ago.
- 18:23Eric: And then, how was that different than the book?
- 18:25Eric: Because there he was, like in his full-out hallmark.
- 18:28Eric: Well, twofold, but that was big because he was just in his full-out hallmark.
- 18:35Eric: You know environment, but it's also mystery 101.
- 18:39Eric: Officially canceled.
- 18:40Eric: So that was like a little different dynamic for that one I.
- 18:47Aiden: Mean you have to.
- 18:47Aiden: There are long lines for these things when you're waiting to.
- 18:50Aiden: You know, meet the actors, and the cancellation was obviously the big topic that we were all you know chit chatting about in line waiting for Christopher Palaja.
- 19:01Aiden: So I mean, of course he was great.
- 19:06Aiden: You know you wait, you wait in line, you wait 30 minutes an hour.
- 19:12Aiden: However long, you know, you get up to the line and you get your few minutes with, you know, your favorite actor.
- 19:20Aiden: I mean it's amazing and I mean theoretically, if you wanted, you could keep going through the line, keep getting your, you know, oh, five minutes until he talks to security.
- 19:32Eric: He's like, okay, seven times.
- 19:35Aiden: I know I mean, I mean, what can you do?
- 19:40Aiden: He's.
- 19:40Aiden: You know we all have our favorites, right, we all have our favorites.
- 19:43Aiden: We all have our crushes, if you want to call it that but you know the, the actors that we connect with the most, and you know he's he's.
- 19:54Aiden: You know my top, my top.
- 19:56Aiden: I would love to see Jill Wagner.
- 19:59Aiden: She was at Christmas con 2021 winter, but I wasn't a fan then so I wouldn't have been.
- 20:10Aiden: It wouldn't have been on my radar in any way, shape or form.
- 20:14Aiden: But if Jill Wagner showed up to a Christmas con, I mean I would flip out.
- 20:20Aiden: So I mean both of those both of those two are, you know, mean a lot to me.
- 20:25Eric: Now the show means a lot to me is do you know if he's going on the cruise?
- 20:29Eric: Is he part of the cruise?
- 20:31Aiden: He's part of two cruises.
- 20:34Eric: No, the hall, the hallmark, the big hallmark, cruise.
- 20:37Aiden: I don't know if he's going on the big hallmark cruise.
- 20:39Aiden: I don't know that.
- 20:40Aiden: If they've announced he's going on the big hallmark cruise, I don't know if he he's going on a separate one, though, in January are you going on that?
- 20:49Aiden: No, no, I mean, it's it.
- 20:54Aiden: I can't get the time off.
- 20:55Aiden: I mean, okay, you know I Can't, but I, I do want to go to the next Christmas con, which is next.
- 21:02Aiden: Well, not, not in December, because again.
- 21:05Eric: That's Jersey right.
- 21:07Aiden: Yeah, but I would love to go and meet him again Summer next year.
- 21:13Aiden: So I forgot to show you something, eric, I Can you see this?
- 21:20Eric: I can, all right.
- 21:23Eric: So she has very large Earrings with Christopher on one and Jill on the other.
- 21:31Eric: They look like, but like the buttons You'd have on your jacket, but instead they're Christopher and Jill, or Travis and Amy.
- 21:39Aiden: I know they're Travis.
- 21:40Aiden: They're Travis and Amy Custom earrings that I made a couple weeks ago when I was tapped to be a guest chancellor for Romance University.
- 21:50Aiden: I made these sort of as a gag prop, but I've decided that If I go to Christmas con next summer, I'm gonna wear them.
- 22:00Eric: Oh, darn right.
- 22:02Aiden: Because I mean, if you can't wear these things at a convention, what?
- 22:05Aiden: What do you?
- 22:06Aiden: You can't wear them anywhere.
- 22:08Eric: No, so you know where it's at next summer.
- 22:10Aiden: They know that they haven't, they haven't announced it.
- 22:14Eric: So what it's kind of.
- 22:16Eric: I I don't know if I'm kicking myself in the butt or not, but I actually go to Kansas City for work and I have to go there and I Pretty much should have probably planned on a work trip to go there the first couple days and then stayed Extended over and gone to the, the Christmas con to meet everybody.
- 22:39Eric: But for me, like I'm a fan, I love it, but I I don't know if I'd be it like claustrophobic.
- 22:47Eric: It just seems like so many people, so like I don't know, it just seemed like it would be a little overwhelming for me.
- 22:54Eric: Now, who?
- 22:55Eric: So you said you was about a half hour wait to see, to see Chris?
- 23:00Eric: Who?
- 23:00Eric: Who at the longest line?
- 23:02Eric: Tyler, well, in.
- 23:04Aiden: Depending it, it went up to probably an hour and a half for Chris at various points.
- 23:09Aiden: You have to get you get it early.
- 23:12Aiden: And Then I mean the long wait is sort of a good sign, just because you know you want the actors to take time with each person.
- 23:20Aiden: You know that the the celebrity that had the longest line was Tyler Hines.
- 23:29Eric: That's what I was gonna guess, so.
- 23:31Aiden: Yeah, he was sort of kitty corner to Chris.
- 23:34Aiden: Well, they put they put Tyler Hines.
- 23:35Aiden: If this was intentional or not, they put him on an end, at the end, one of the rows.
- 23:40Aiden: But you know, eric, I also thought that I would need like mini breaks or like to step away, or just I was gonna be overwhelmed by the convention experience, but that that wasn't the case, it was, it was manageable.
- 23:59Eric: So you with a pretty singular focus, like did you really like going to see other people to or read us?
- 24:07Eric: Pretty much, okay, I got to see Christopher and now I'll talk and sort of hang out with all my friends.
- 24:13Eric: Then do you know to attend the when they do some of the?
- 24:17Eric: You know there's things on stage and all that, but Was it kind of just like that one and done with him?
- 24:22Eric: I?
- 24:23Aiden: Was.
- 24:23Aiden: I was sort of in the middle, so there are a lot of people.
- 24:27Aiden: That hit everybody.
- 24:30Eric: And how would you with like half hour hour?
- 24:33Aiden: I've seen photos of people that hit 15 celebrities in their Christmas con experience.
- 24:40Aiden: I don't know how it was done.
- 24:43Aiden: Yes, my, my primary Focus and interest was Christopher plaha being my favorite Hallmark actor.
- 24:51Aiden: I also met.
- 24:54Aiden: Who else did I meet?
- 24:57Aiden: I met Tyler Hines at a photo at the one of the photo ops.
- 25:02Aiden: You can pay for like a photo op, which is separate from meeting the actor at the at their booth.
- 25:08Eric: All right, how much is a photo op?
- 25:11Aiden: Maybe $60.
- 25:13Eric: All right, so you're spending some cash at this event.
- 25:16Aiden: It's not cheap and every time you go through the line to meet one of these actors it also costs, you know, for for Selfie or if you're getting an autograph.
- 25:28Aiden: So I met, oh, I met, danica McKellar.
- 25:35Aiden: That was like a surprise.
- 25:36Aiden: I wasn't planning to meet her, but it was just sort of an impulse.
- 25:41Aiden: She was very lovely.
- 25:42Aiden: Aaron Cahill, who has a mystery Because she plays a character, main character, one of the episodes of mystery 101 and the upcoming windy city mysteries.
- 25:58Eric: So, yeah, I've got my Mount Rushmore and Brooke Burns is the top, but Aaron Cahill is on that second Wrong, along with with Taylor Cole and Kimberly Sustead.
- 26:13Eric: I love Aaron Cahill.
- 26:15Eric: She's in.
- 26:16Eric: Part of the thing with her is I think she's a very talented actor, but I also think she's kind of Chris Bright how I envision him.
- 26:25Eric: There's also just a really nice, genuine great person.
- 26:31Eric: So that's part of my appeal, for I think what actually that whole level is with Taylor, kimberly and Aaron.
- 26:42Eric: I just think they're like these seem to be these great people who I like just to hang out with, in addition to just thinking our you know, wonderful actors and Not ugly.
- 26:53Aiden: All right, I mean, a hill was the sweetest you can imagine.
- 26:57Aiden: You know, I stood in line with her, with a friend.
- 27:01Aiden: We got up to the front and I'd actually featured Aaron.
- 27:04Aiden: So you know, eric, I do these little mini films.
- 27:09Eric: Of course I do.
- 27:10Eric: We're gonna talk about that a second.
- 27:13Aiden: Yeah, I do these little mini films.
- 27:14Aiden: Anyway, one of them featured Aaron Cahill's mystery 101 character.
- 27:19Aiden: So I brought up the little, the little, the character, the physical like toy, and I brought it up to her and I showed it to her and I told her because I, to my knowledge she hadn't seen the episode that she was in my little film and I Mean it was allowed.
- 27:37Aiden: It's a loud, loud space, but you know we we pulled it up on my phone and she watched it.
- 27:45Eric: That's awesome.
- 27:46Aiden: So that was, that was cool.
- 27:49Eric: So, okay, let's just jump to that.
- 27:51Eric: So you make those little one with well, they're mostly like the little fun go Characters, but you have like also a little random ones and you do quite a quite a good job.
- 28:01Eric: So Tell me about, like when you first were like, oh, I think I'm gonna go into movie making with these and Just like what your process is.
- 28:12Eric: How long does it take to make those?
- 28:14Eric: Just in general, because they're very, very cute, very cute.
- 28:20Aiden: Thanks, yeah, so I I mean I'll prep this by saying before, before I started, you know, I never even edited a photo, right, I had no basis, I had no business for doing any of this.
- 28:38Aiden: I didn't know how to put two clips on my camera roll together, like I didn't know how that was done, what, what do you need to do to do that?
- 28:49Aiden: So I googled it and realized I needed what's called a video editing app.
- 28:55Aiden: So I'm like great.
- 28:55Aiden: And then I went to YouTube to research like video editing apps and you know basically the first one that came up with a number of tutorials.
- 29:06Aiden: It looked doable.
- 29:08Aiden: So I chose that video editing app, not knowing any better, and it's worked out great and that's how I've edited all of my little films.
- 29:19Aiden: But really, I mean, the ideas came to me.
- 29:22Aiden: I sort of they're a little bit like spoofs.
- 29:24Aiden: I'll pick a scene or a series of scenes from the Mystery One on One episodes and then use little toys, little characters, funko pops and other toys that I just have in my house because I've got little kids.
- 29:39Aiden: So I'll cast, you know, different people depending on you know what toys I've got in the room or in the house, and I'll use the audio from the movies and I will reenact, sort of in a silly, funny, sort of, you know, charming, if you want to call it way.
- 30:02Aiden: I'll re, I'll re-shoot a scene.
- 30:07Eric: Now, did you have the Travis and Amy already?
- 30:10Eric: Or did you get them because you thought like they looked like them?
- 30:13Eric: Or did you already have them and say oh this does look like them.
- 30:16Aiden: Yeah, that's a good question.
- 30:17Aiden: Those are custom funko pops that are Travis and Amy.
- 30:22Eric: Oh, so they really are Okay, because I was trying to figure out who they were, Because I'm like they look like them Okay.
- 30:29Aiden: Yeah, they look like them on purpose, because another super fan who is an artist, who is Trammy Forever on Instagram, she makes custom funko pops of Travis and Amy and so I bought them from her and so I had the, I had the characters, I had the toys, and then I've been seriously rocking my brain trying to.
- 30:55Eric: I could have just asked you, but I've always wondered.
- 30:58Eric: I'm like, how does she get like, is this like somebody from a band or something?
- 31:02Eric: And so I've got.
- 31:04Eric: I've got a bunch of them too.
- 31:05Eric: I've got my wife's a big Deaf Leopard fan and so I've got like all Deaf Leopard.
- 31:09Eric: So I was like, are they, yeah, like some singer or something like that for Christopher, because you just nailed it?
- 31:15Eric: But now I know that it actually is Christopher, so okay.
- 31:20Aiden: So, Christopher, my friend, that makes them.
- 31:23Aiden: I mean, she's great.
- 31:24Aiden: And you know, I put those funko pops through so much because of my films.
- 31:30Aiden: I'm not, I'm not gentle with these characters, with these little toys, right, I knock them down, I throw them around, depending on what I need, you know, for the scene.
- 31:41Aiden: So I've actually sent them back to her a number of months ago to get them touched up.
- 31:50Eric: Travis and Amy you know they live a little rough life, you know, solving their crimes, so they're used to rumbling and tumbling.
- 31:58Aiden: Yeah, I mean they tumble and in one of them I threw Travis down a hill like 20 times, rolled him down the hill at the park.
- 32:09Aiden: So you know you do what you got to do to get the shot that you envision.
- 32:14Aiden: But I mean it's all in good fun.
- 32:17Aiden: I mean I plan them, I storyboard them and then I shoot them.
- 32:25Eric: Nice, all right.
- 32:26Eric: All right, let's get back to Mystery 101.
- 32:30Eric: So, seven episodes.
- 32:32Eric: What's your favorite?
- 32:35Aiden: My favorite is Killer Timing.
- 32:37Aiden: It's the second to last episode.
- 32:40Aiden: It's the one where Travis gets blown up, or almost blown up in the explosion.
- 32:46Eric: And what is it about that one that you like?
- 32:48Eric: Why is that your favorite?
- 32:50Aiden: I think it's my favorite because he, like is in peril, he almost gets blown up and Amy rushes over like witnesses it and Amy rushes over and you know it's very touching.
- 33:01Aiden: And then later in the episode Amy is being hounded by a killer, so she's like in peril and Travis, like, is trying to rush over to her house to save her.
- 33:12Aiden: So I think because both of those characters have that you know sort of in peril, I'm in danger, mortal danger experience, which the other is aware of and witnesses, I think that the episode just allows Travis and Amy to sort of express their feelings more Like there's more character development in that episode and more like intimate scenes, and so I think that's why I like Killer Timing the most.
- 33:48Aiden: It's not just like plop, plop, plop, plop, plop, plop, plop.
- 33:51Aiden: In the end there's pauses for, you know, focusing on Travis and Amy's relationship.
- 33:57Aiden: So I really like that and appreciate that Obviously the relationship is the most important, you know, piece that draws me to the series.
- 34:09Eric: That's the one with Aaron Cahill right.
- 34:11Aiden: Yeah, and that's the one with Aaron Cahill.
- 34:13Aiden: I mean, she and you know she's just phenomenal and that's another wrinkle in that episode that she sort of comes back and Amy's a little bit jealous because Aaron Cahill shares her ex.
- 34:28Aiden: So you know, there's that classic like little jealousy thing.
- 34:32Aiden: But again it sort of prompts scenes between Travis and Amy where they, you know, talk about their feelings.
- 34:41Aiden: So it's great.
- 34:43Aiden: And then of course the last episode is right up there as well.
- 34:49Eric: Including the final whatever.
- 34:51Eric: It is 37 seconds, minute 30, whatever.
- 34:55Eric: Or do you stop?
- 34:56Eric: Or do you stop.
- 34:58Aiden: I don't stop, but yeah, it's rough.
- 35:02Aiden: The I Love you Scene, which is classic and is my favorite scene.
- 35:07Aiden: Killer Timing is my favorite movie, but the I Love you Scene in episode seven is my favorite scene of the series.
- 35:14Eric: All right, you know it more in two minutes.
- 35:16Eric: Is that like when they're in, like the cabin or something like that?
- 35:19Aiden: So they're actually at the hospital, so they're leaning, they're like leaning over a banister.
- 35:25Aiden: And she is saying oh, I can't believe you came out here all this way, you know, to help me solve this mystery.
- 35:31Aiden: You got shot out, you did all this stuff and I can't believe you did that.
- 35:34Aiden: And he says well, you know, you'd believe it if you knew my motive.
- 35:39Aiden: And then you know his motive is that he loves her and he kisses her and tells her he loves her.
- 35:47Aiden: So it's, you know, it's a beautiful scene.
- 35:51Aiden: And then, like you said, a minute later they're broken up and she is engaged to somebody else.
- 35:59Eric: So so when you okay, actually you saw that out of out of order.
- 36:04Eric: Now obviously you're anticipating episode eight, but when you saw it and it ends on that cliffhanger, were you upset at the time that it was a cliffhanger, that it ended on, or were you thinking, oh, this is an exciting ending.
- 36:18Eric: I can't wait to see the next episode.
- 36:21Aiden: I thought it was an exciting ending and I couldn't wait to see the next episode Because, you know, I had no idea that they wouldn't make the eighth movie to resolve the cliffhanger.
- 36:37Aiden: So I thought, oh great, you know, great idea, I love it.
- 36:41Aiden: There's a lot of speculation with the fans as far as you know the explanation for the breakup, you know, were they undercover?
- 36:50Aiden: That was like the leading idea.
- 36:52Aiden: I didn't like the undercover thing.
- 37:06Aiden: I thought it was like too, I don't know, like too silly.
- 37:10Aiden: I actually thought that they had broken up.
- 37:15Aiden: You know, some, some, some version of one or the other wind to protect the you know, probably Travis wanted to protect Amy from you know, involvement in, you know, the harsh realities of his life and the things he has to deal with and trying to keep her safe, that type of thing.
- 37:32Aiden: That's what I thought.
- 37:33Aiden: That was my guess.
- 37:37Eric: I was saying I thought it was and I saw them in order, so I didn't.
- 37:42Eric: I didn't go from from seven to four, but I thought that kind of like you, I thought they were, it was, she was seriously engaged, but there was going to be some reason why this happened.
- 37:57Eric: That would, of course, get resolved.
- 38:00Eric: Now what did you because I know you listen to our podcast with the JCP given the story of what eight would have been?
- 38:11Eric: So what did you think of that being actually the dream sequence?
- 38:15Eric: As far as the explanation, I love the dream explanation.
- 38:21Aiden: It didn't even occur to me, frankly, it wasn't on my radar, but I loved it.
- 38:27Aiden: I told John Christian Plummer.
- 38:30Aiden: So I loved it because it resolves the issue right away and you can just move on with the episode.
- 38:36Aiden: So basically, she wakes up from the dream.
- 38:39Aiden: It never happened and you could.
- 38:42Aiden: You could just move on with with how it should be, with them together.
- 38:46Aiden: You know it's resolved in two minutes.
- 38:49Aiden: So because of that, I mean I would have loved to have seen it.
- 38:54Eric: Yeah, we all it was it was.
- 38:56Aiden: It was a good explanation and unfortunately it's.
- 39:01Aiden: You know the show, the show got canceled.
- 39:05Aiden: It's rough.
- 39:06Aiden: It's rough.
- 39:06Aiden: It's rough when you're a big fan of the show and it's your favorite show and you love the show, and then it gets canceled.
- 39:14Aiden: It's rough, and it's especially rough when it gets canceled on a cliffhanger.
- 39:25Eric: So now with the change happening, though it's not as dramatic of a change that I think some people is, but there is a change happening at Hallmark.
- 39:34Eric: Obviously Do you.
- 39:37Eric: Are you one of the people who think they're is holding out hope that it will come back now?
- 39:44Aiden: I don't think it's going to come back.
- 39:46Aiden: I think the decision's been made in my heart of hearts.
- 39:50Aiden: Of course, I'd love a reversal and for Hallmark to come out and say you know what?
- 39:56Aiden: We hear you, we, we.
- 39:58Aiden: We know you want eight, we know you're upset that we didn't give you eight and you know we're going to film it in 2024.
- 40:05Aiden: I don't think they're going to do that, but you know, there is a small part of me in my, in my heart, that would love to hear that news.
- 40:17Eric: Of course.
- 40:17Eric: So a lot of people think I'm, you know, anti this, that that are the other, but I don't know my estimation because I don't know.
- 40:26Eric: You know what happened either.
- 40:28Eric: I there there, obviously, discussions and decisions made behind closed doors with variety of different people is.
- 40:37Eric: I do believe, though, that if there was a way it could have been made, I just canceled it willy nilly because they're like, oh, let's move on, because they do, you know, it's their business and it's their big top raider, so rating show, so I don't know what it is, why it is, and that's the one thing.
- 41:00Eric: I threw the through the podcast and my hallmark reviewer had been fortunate, I've been able to talk to some of the actors, sort of like behind the scenes and little off record type conversations about some things, and I've discovered that you know it's much more business than all of us realize.
- 41:19Eric: I don't, so I don't know, I just because it's like you and you know millions of other fans out there.
- 41:29Eric: It's just perplexing, perplexing.
- 41:34Eric: And my big issue, sorry, my big issue is just that there's no actual reason that's given and I don't know.
- 41:42Eric: I'm guessing they can't or whatever.
- 41:45Eric: Do you know?
- 41:47Eric: Help us, but that's to me.
- 41:49Eric: What I find frustrating is that we just know there's something.
- 41:53Eric: We just don't know what it is, and none of us are ever going to know what it is probably.
- 41:58Aiden: Yeah, well, you know what I think you need to.
- 42:01Aiden: You need to wheel your way into hallmark.
- 42:03Aiden: I'm trying to and and get me the answers, because I'm yeah, I'm pretty desperate to, to understand it.
- 42:16Eric: I mean, I thought about it.
- 42:17Eric: Hang on, we watch enough mysteries.
- 42:19Eric: We should be able to learn.
- 42:21Eric: We should be able to break into, be like little you know, nosy bodies.
- 42:25Eric: We should be able to break into hallmark, go into the top secret desk that has the handwritten notes that explain what happened, take our pictures, sneak out without ever being caught and blow the lid off this case.
- 42:40Aiden: Yeah, you're, you're brave, I'll be.
- 42:41Aiden: I'll be your getaway driver if you'll do that.
- 42:45Eric: Okay, I have to get off to get a whole outfit of I've got enough black to wear.
- 42:51Eric: I've got I got like a do it, eric sweatshirt and some black pants.
- 42:56Eric: Okay.
- 42:58Aiden: You know, when we were, when John Christian Plummer had, you know, spoken previously, previous to when he was on your podcast, he was talking about how he had, you know, notes, et cetera, for episode eight at his house, and so we were all scheming about how we were going to break into his house and, you know, find the information.
- 43:21Aiden: I mean, you got to do what you got to do when you're a fan and you need answers.
- 43:26Aiden: So you know, I understand, we were headed I mean, I'm down for it.
- 43:32Eric: I think we need a rope ladder.
- 43:33Eric: I've started putting that list together for you know what You're really good at the storyboarding, so you can storyboard our.
- 43:44Aiden: I'll do the schematic.
- 43:45Eric: Our thing, yeah, yeah.
- 43:47Aiden: Six of the egress.
- 43:50Aiden: You know and figure out the plan and you execute it.
- 43:54Eric: The whole layout of the building has to be on Google somewhere so we can get, yeah, the, you know, the whole layout of the whole work office.
- 44:03Aiden: Drone flyovers.
- 44:05Eric: Perfect, perfect.
- 44:07Eric: We've got a plan, so you know what I actually am available Saturday, so we can do this Saturday.
- 44:14Aiden: Okay, okay, the plan.
- 44:18Eric: Oh, the question.
- 44:18Eric: I guess it's in Los Angeles.
- 44:19Eric: We got to get to Los Angeles you have access to like a super secret jet.
- 44:27Aiden: Unfortunately no.
- 44:30Eric: All right, so you'll fly.
- 44:31Eric: Okay, so I guess I'll next Tuesday.
- 44:33Aiden: We'll fly coach, we'll fly coach, yeah, yeah, so next Tuesday.
- 44:36Eric: I'll give you a little time to get that out there.
- 44:38Eric: I'm close enough I can drive.
- 44:39Eric: I've just got to get one state.
- 44:40Eric: Oh, I got Sydney down there in Orange County.
- 44:42Eric: She can meet us up there.
- 44:44Eric: Perfect, when do?
- 44:46Aiden: you live.
- 44:47Eric: I'm in Phoenix.
- 44:50Aiden: I'm in Chicago, yeah.
- 44:51Eric: And so Sydney's in Orange County.
- 44:52Eric: So I think actually, when you, when you lay it out you can do a three person job Okay.
- 44:59Aiden: That makes it easier.
- 45:02Eric: I know she's really crazy busy right now with some stuff going on, but I'm sure she'll make time to break into the homework building.
- 45:09Aiden: Okay, we'll take care of it.
- 45:12Eric: But don't tell anybody because I don't want to get caught.
- 45:15Eric: Okay, of course, this has to be our secret.
- 45:18Aiden: No one will know.
- 45:19Eric: And no Funko movie about it either.
- 45:23Aiden: No, no.
- 45:24Aiden: Behind the scenes, yes, no.
- 45:27Eric: Perfect, all right.
- 45:27Eric: So here's going to be a really tough question and you have to answer honest, and I know we people say they don't have favorites for their kids, but they do.
- 45:37Eric: So which is your least favorite episode?
- 45:46Aiden: Yeah, that's like impossible.
- 45:49Aiden: It can still be an A plus, it's just.
- 45:54Eric: Or it still be an A, it's just.
- 45:55Eric: The other ones are A pluses.
- 45:56Eric: So I'm not saying dislike it, but what's your least favorite?
- 46:01Eric: I?
- 46:03Aiden: don't know, Probably maybe, maybe the second one, although I love the second one.
- 46:11Aiden: The second one is great.
- 46:12Aiden: It's called playing dead and it's a whole like mystery within the theater, so Okay.
- 46:21Aiden: So you know, it's really fun and charming, I guess I.
- 46:27Aiden: My point is, I think I prefer the later episodes just because the relationship is developed more than in the beginning episodes.
- 46:37Aiden: I can't choose the pilot as my least favorite because it's the pilot and it sets everything.
- 46:41Aiden: So I guess I'll choose.
- 46:44Aiden: You know I'll choose one.
- 46:46Aiden: I can't choose any of the ones where they kiss as one of my least favorites.
- 46:53Eric: No, Because you know the details more than I do.
- 46:56Eric: Does he have?
- 46:57Eric: He doesn't have the same partner the entire time.
- 47:00Eric: Does he that the woman?
- 47:03Aiden: No, no, he doesn't.
- 47:05Aiden: No, travis does not have the same partner.
- 47:08Aiden: I wanna say the partner changes after the first four episodes, okay, and then the partner leaves to take a job in Hawaii.
- 47:20Eric: Oh, that's what happened to her.
- 47:21Eric: Ok, I say I've watched them all and I've watched them all several times and I enjoy them all, but I don't watch them with the same, you know, crazy interest.
- 47:32Eric: That you probably watched them, you know, way more times than I have, even though you've only watched it for a year and I've seen them for a couple years.
- 47:40Eric: So, but all right.
- 47:44Eric: So what do you think about?
- 47:47Eric: What's his future?
- 47:49Eric: Well, you know Travis and Amy.
- 47:52Aiden: Yes, See, Bud was dating the partner that went to Hawaii.
- 48:00Eric: Right.
- 48:01Aiden: So I mean he either went to Hawaii to be with her or that relationship ended.
- 48:11Eric: But how do you then?
- 48:12Eric: So does he really?
- 48:14Aiden: I hear a kindles and I think, yeah, I mean there's either that or he says because he's the, you know, he's the, he's the, he's the TA and he's got to finish his like thesis or whatever, so he couldn't follow her to Hawaii.
- 48:30Aiden: So, you know, I think, I think after a period of trying long distance, they probably broke up and wished each other well and, but probably, you know, he got, he got his, he got his, you know his degree and you know, live in the life.
- 48:55Eric: He takes over Amy's class because Amy decides to retire and become a police.
- 49:03Aiden: Amy, yeah, amy.
- 49:06Eric: She's like a professional detail noticor for the police force.
- 49:10Eric: Yeah her and Travis become partners and love and work.
- 49:16Aiden: Yeah, maybe that'd be too close.
- 49:18Aiden: I mean, of course the charm is that she is over here in this profession and he's over in there in that profession and she comes into his world.
- 49:26Aiden: So of course that's the charm of the show.
- 49:29Aiden: I think she probably did hire Bud.
- 49:32Aiden: I like that.
- 49:33Aiden: She probably did hire Bud, as you know, as a, as a professor, and he also works at Elmstead now.
- 49:43Aiden: I think that she's the dean of the English department, amy is, she's the dean of the English department.
- 49:48Aiden: So she, you know, presumably can you know, hire whoever she thinks is appropriate.
- 49:55Eric: But by episode nine she's like the, you know the whole chancellor of the school.
- 50:00Eric: So she probably thing, and then she ends up getting framed for murder and Travis has to get her out the hook because she's in jail.
- 50:13Aiden: Yeah, you know, we know that's episode nine.
- 50:15Aiden: I love it, because we never did really get Amy in, you know, in an extended, extended, extended pickle or whatever you want to call it, like she was never you know, she was never kidnapped, she was never you know anything like that she's driving on the boat, only to find out she's like state swimming champion.
- 50:39Aiden: I know Amy is everything, Amy is.
- 50:41Aiden: Amy is untouchable.
- 50:44Eric: So well, maggie, detective Maggie Price with a ruster and oh, crossover.
- 50:55Eric: Oh, that was, yes, that was one of my ideas and this is where I got in the hole, learning some of the business, and I talked to Dylan Neil about this just in a joking way.
- 51:06Eric: That's like, hey, you know what you should do.
- 51:08Eric: You should do a crossover with mystery one on one, where they basically investigate this murder because you know Travis can't do it, and then Maggie's on the case, and then they that's where they, you know, they meet up with Travis and get to know him and then they solve it and, you know, get Amy back together.
- 51:28Eric: But the four of you guys would be great because to the best mysteries out there.
- 51:34Eric: And it's like, yeah, you could just never do it because the budget of having four leads would just blow up Hallmark and he, he reigned on my parade pretty quickly.
- 51:46Aiden: I'm not being not really a producer trying to make it happen.
- 51:51Eric: I'm living in my little fantasy.
- 51:52Eric: You know Hallmark world, but it would have.
- 51:56Eric: It would have I love the idea of a crossover.
- 51:59Aiden: Sounds wonderful.
- 52:00Aiden: It does.
- 52:01Aiden: Somebody needs to, somebody needs to write the fan fiction for it.
- 52:05Eric: So or make a little Funko movie.
- 52:09Eric: There you go.
- 52:10Eric: You need a Funko with Gourmet Detective coming in.
- 52:13Eric: You can have a little Henry Hill or Henry Ross cooking up a little something in your little Funko kitchen, your little play kitchen.
- 52:25Aiden: Yeah, I'll have to.
- 52:25Aiden: I'll have to cast, I'll have to cast and I'll let you know who.
- 52:28Aiden: All right, All right.
- 52:30Eric: So to wrap up, so with Mystery 101 going away and it's just basically going to be perpetual repeats, are you, do you think you're and I know everyone's like, oh, it's going to be my favorite, this another, but time does pass.
- 52:43Eric: Are you giving the?
- 52:49Eric: You know the new ones the Nikki and Nora is curious.
- 52:51Eric: Or the cases of Mystery Lane, the new ones?
- 52:52Eric: Are you giving those shots or are you kind of just sticking in your comfort zone More of the time?
- 53:03Aiden: More of the latter sticking in my comfort zone.
- 53:06Aiden: I watched a few of them.
- 53:08Aiden: I watched Mystery Lane.
- 53:12Aiden: I watched the Jody Sweeten one, because you know I really like Jody Sweeten.
- 53:19Aiden: There are a couple that I want to watch that I haven't.
- 53:24Aiden: I haven't seen the Dancing Detective yet.
- 53:25Aiden: Okay, so I'm basically I'm not rushing into, I'm not rushing into the Dancing Detective yet, I'm not rushing into seeing any of these.
- 53:35Aiden: I am sort of harkening back and wanting to watch the old Mysteries that I haven't seen yet.
- 53:48Eric: Have you watched Chronicle?
- 53:50Aiden: I've only watched like half an hour of Chronicle.
- 53:52Aiden: There are so many.
- 53:54Aiden: I haven't watched like any of the Tea Gardens in full.
- 53:58Eric: You're not missing anything there.
- 54:00Aiden: The picture perfect, I want to watch.
- 54:02Aiden: So I haven't seen a lot of the like the OG Mysteries, so I'm more, I'm more leaning towards watching those.
- 54:15Aiden: But I mean I'm not posting the new ones.
- 54:17Aiden: I'm just not super excited about the new ones.
- 54:22Eric: I give Chronicle a go.
- 54:24Eric: Chronicle's really good because it's also when I think it's very well-read.
- 54:29Aiden: That's why I'm on my list.
- 54:30Aiden: I'm sure it is.
- 54:32Aiden: Everyone loves it.
- 54:34Aiden: I was speaking of Christmas Con and that Benjamin Nair is at Christmas Con.
- 54:39Aiden: He's lovely and, of course, the Chancellor of Romance University.
- 54:44Aiden: So yeah, that's that's high on my list.
- 54:49Aiden: I did watch Hayley Dean Michael.
- 54:54Eric: That's really good too.
- 54:57Aiden: Really good.
- 54:58Aiden: Yeah, like I guess I'm.
- 55:00Aiden: I guess I'm more leaning towards the series that where I know there are multiple movies, it's hard.
- 55:04Aiden: It's harder for me to watch like a one off of whatever Hallmark is doing now, because it's just one and I don't know if there are going to be more and I just can't get excited about it, whereas the old ones, where I know that there are multiple movies, I feel like I do want to take a shot and watch it.
- 55:23Eric: You know that's you bring up a good point and this is kind of the one of the things we've talked about several times, I think Hallmark and it's business, so there's ratings and it's whatever.
- 55:34Eric: This is me speaking as a fan.
- 55:35Eric: But I think they really do have to commit to doing a mystery Of having at least three episodes and that third episode At least having some sense of closure.
- 55:49Eric: So if they decide at that point they're not going to continue, we're not left hanging.
- 55:54Eric: But if they do want to continue, it makes sense and they can keep going.
- 55:58Eric: But because with mysteries it's very different than the romcom, and I think this is why part of the reason why the mystery fans are so Passionate Because you do get to have that, like you're talking about that progression Of Travis and Amy there.
- 56:14Eric: Through each episode the relationship grows, you get to know them more as the character, you get to know Graham more and it's like the romcom is just a neat little done, cute, loved it, move on.
- 56:29Eric: But the mystery, because they are this, this, this progression, you just get so much more involved and so I can totally agree with you that it is A lot Better, I think, a more enjoyable, when you do have those several episodes, so you can see that progression as opposed to.
- 56:48Eric: You know, nikki Nora.
- 56:50Eric: I absolutely loved it.
- 56:51Eric: I thought it was great.
- 56:52Eric: But I have absolutely.
- 56:53Eric: You know it's a year later now and who knows when the next one's coming, whereas you know back with when these other movies were coming out.
- 57:02Eric: You'd always have like one or two a year.
- 57:05Eric: So it, you know it, progressed for you and right now there's such a gap.
- 57:11Eric: You know curious cater is the exception because they are Doing a few of those.
- 57:16Eric: You know they're going on to the fourth one, right, the third one.
- 57:20Eric: But yeah, so I can.
- 57:21Eric: I can definitely see where you're coming from with wanting to go back to some of the old ones, so you can see and feel and enjoy that progression.
- 57:31Aiden: So yeah, I wish, I wish Hallmark would pick I mean, like you said, they're doing a curious caterer but I wish they would decide which of the mysteries they want to expand and just do it, because they're giving us one offs, like you know, good number of one offs, but not following up with, like a like a plan on which ones are going to move forward, which ones won't.
- 58:01Aiden: So, yeah, you know I it's one of the things that attracted me to mystery 101.
- 58:08Aiden: When I was, you know, sort of stumbled upon it, that I saw that they were three of them and I'm like, oh, there, there are three of them.
- 58:16Aiden: There's going to be an actual, you know story and extended story here.
- 58:20Aiden: So, yeah, I'm definitely drawn, you know, I'm definitely drawn, and I think most viewers are to, you know, a little bit of a longer, more in depth, more you know character building, character development, sort of storyline.
- 58:35Aiden: Because the movies, the mystery movies, are different, like you said they're.
- 58:40Aiden: They're different than than the rom-coms and we want them to be different.
- 58:44Aiden: We want them to be more of a extended storytelling time.
- 58:49Eric: So I know when, when, as I often joke about my windy city mysteries which is a half joke because I also, I truly think it would be a fantastic series.
- 59:04Eric: I, because I'm not the super fan.
- 59:08Eric: I you know when I was very disappointed.
- 59:11Eric: I was, you know, upset when mystery 101's canceled, but at the same time I'm like, okay, shows get canceled, just you know my favorite show, gourmet Detective was, was canceled and you know gotta move on.
- 59:26Eric: Where do you stand?
- 59:27Eric: Because I know a lot of the mystery 101 fans do not think that Travis should ever be in anything other than mystery 101.
- 59:39Eric: Where would you be if they did a prequel with with Aaron?
- 59:46Eric: Her name's Kate, right.
- 59:48Aiden: Yeah, the character name is.
- 59:50Eric: Kate.
- 59:50Eric: So Kate and Travis doing a prequel where you're going back 10 years before Amy ever existed.
- 59:57Aiden: Well, I think that before mystery 101 was canceled, you know, it was sort of like well, we don't.
- 1:00:03Aiden: We don't want to see that couple because we're really invested in Travis and Amy and we want to see that couple Now that the Travis and Amy relationship is no longer going to be moved forward because they canceled the show, Because I was.
- 1:00:18Aiden: I was resistant to that because I wanted to see more Travis and Amy.
- 1:00:21Aiden: Now that we know that that's not going to happen, A prequel is more appealing to me the, the Travis and Kate, though the.
- 1:00:31Aiden: The only problem there is they'd have to.
- 1:00:34Aiden: Maybe I don't know, I don't know how you would do it if it was like just a gentle parting.
- 1:00:41Aiden: But we know that they break up at the end.
- 1:00:45Eric: But if we, if we found out, you found out, that Travis cheated on her?
- 1:00:51Aiden: No, Travis was.
- 1:00:54Eric: Oh, your face is priceless.
- 1:00:56Aiden: No, but I mean I would.
- 1:00:59Aiden: I mean I would love to see more Travis Burke and I love Kate.
- 1:01:04Aiden: Some mystery one off the one.
- 1:01:06Aiden: No, fans aren't huge Kate fans but I'm a big Kate fan so I think I think it'd be amazing to see like the beginning of their relationship.
- 1:01:20Eric: How are you not a Kate fan?
- 1:01:21Eric: Like I can understand, you don't want to see Travis get back together with her in the future.
- 1:01:25Eric: But what?
- 1:01:29Eric: I'm speechless.
- 1:01:30Eric: How can you not be like?
- 1:01:31Eric: How can you be anti Kate?
- 1:01:32Eric: She was great and that she was supportive.
- 1:01:35Eric: She wasn't like coming in and causing trouble.
- 1:01:38Eric: She was a great character.
- 1:01:43Aiden: I yeah, I mean I liked Kate.
- 1:01:45Aiden: Some people didn't.
- 1:01:47Aiden: They didn't want to see, you know, the woman that broke up with Travis.
- 1:01:53Aiden: They weren't fans of the character I liked, kate, I always liked.
- 1:02:00Aiden: But yeah, I mean, if we can figure out how to end it in in in some way, I'd like to.
- 1:02:10Aiden: I'd like to see Travis Burke on screen again.
- 1:02:12Aiden: I love Aaron Cahill.
- 1:02:16Eric: You then basically with it, came down to some sort of work thing where, yeah, like I got some parting that's not acrimonious, or because we know.
- 1:02:26Aiden: we know that it's sort of it fizzles and dies at the end.
- 1:02:30Aiden: So I don't know what we do with the ending, but maybe, maybe, maybe we don't get that far.
- 1:02:35Aiden: I don't know.
- 1:02:37Eric: But well, I think they're going.
- 1:02:39Eric: We wouldn't get that far, but yeah, right, they cancel it.
- 1:02:41Eric: Yeah, they cancel it right before the.
- 1:02:46Aiden: We have to broach that topic.
- 1:02:47Aiden: So there you go.
- 1:02:49Aiden: That's how it would be resolved.
- 1:02:51Aiden: I'd like to see the beginning sparks of that relationship, sure.
- 1:02:57Eric: Why also one of the things, and I guess this is what I wasn't getting why some people are so opposed to it.
- 1:03:02Eric: And I see your point like and the only reason I was not saying a windy city mysteries, if mystery one on one was going forward.
- 1:03:11Eric: Right, I was going on the assumption mystery one on one was not happening because it had been such a long time and even though it wasn't officially canceled, I didn't know what's gone.
- 1:03:24Eric: But the reason why I liked it so much is I just thought it gave an opportunity to get more, because obviously Travis has a lot of baggage right and that was part of his unloading and letting his everything down to let Amy, and so I thought it would be just really interesting to sort of get that backstory on Travis and, of course, you know, any chance to see a little more air and K hello down for.
- 1:03:57Aiden: So yeah, I, I.
- 1:04:01Aiden: I approve how you're thinking of.
- 1:04:03Aiden: You know more Travis.
- 1:04:06Aiden: We don't get a lot, we get little tiny.
- 1:04:08Aiden: You know bits of information and one on one about his past, but I mean more more Travis Burke on screen.
- 1:04:16Aiden: I'm not opposed, especially because we know we're not going to get Travis and Amy anymore.
- 1:04:22Aiden: So I'd be very interested to see his backstory.
- 1:04:28Eric: Alright.
- 1:04:28Eric: Last, last question, which is my question, more of a, I guess, is a question.
- 1:04:33Eric: So he's strongly hinted, and John Christian plumbers also said it on our on our podcast, that he is working on a project with another mystery, with Christopher.
- 1:04:52Eric: So how would you be about that, knowing he's coming back in another mystery Not Wendy city mysteries, you know, not not going back there, but he's coming back and I don't know.
- 1:05:05Eric: Let's just say whoever names names someone that we can't have, lacey autumn research is going to be his counterpart.
- 1:05:21Eric: How are you going to be about him?
- 1:05:23Eric: About him in a new character, with a new, new person, completely different mystery, nothing to do with Travis.
- 1:05:32Eric: You're going to be able to be able to watch it.
- 1:05:37Aiden: No, I'm just kidding.
- 1:05:45Aiden: So of course I'll watch it.
- 1:05:49Aiden: As a Christopher Pahlaha fan, I'm so invested in Christopher Pahlaha and and Jill Wagner being such an intense couple together that I love so much.
- 1:05:57Aiden: I can't imagine who they're going to ask.
- 1:06:02Aiden: I've thought about it.
- 1:06:03Eric: I can't imagine I mean somebody who you would rock who you think would be okay.
- 1:06:09Eric: They're going to do it.
- 1:06:10Eric: This is.
- 1:06:11Eric: If they're going to do it, this is who I want.
- 1:06:16Aiden: I, I can't think of anyone really.
- 1:06:18Aiden: I mean, we know we, as he has chemistry with Brooke because of Dickens of a holiday, so maybe that wouldn't be so bad.
- 1:06:29Eric: I don't see her a mystery.
- 1:06:31Aiden: I don't know.
- 1:06:31Aiden: She's never been in one.
- 1:06:34Eric: I don't see her mystery.
- 1:06:36Aiden: Hard for me to imagine.
- 1:06:36Aiden: Just because I'm such a huge fan and I'm so invested with with seeing, with seeing Christopher and Jill together, it's going to be hard for me to get over that.
- 1:06:49Eric: No, actually his, his built more.
- 1:06:52Eric: Whatever the built more Christmas one that's coming up and Bethany Joy.
- 1:06:58Eric: Actually that could be a pretty good pairing.
- 1:07:03Eric: I think that movie comes out, that could be thinking about it.
- 1:07:08Eric: That could be solid, really solid.
- 1:07:12Aiden: It could.
- 1:07:12Aiden: I mean that's going to be a dynamite movie.
- 1:07:15Aiden: I'm a huge joy lens fan.
- 1:07:19Aiden: In fact she's my, what you know gotta be my top three.
- 1:07:22Aiden: I think she's fantastic.
- 1:07:29Eric: Who's the second then?
- 1:07:29Eric: No, you said the female, Obviously Joe Wagner.
- 1:07:35Eric: So you got back into your lens.
- 1:07:37Eric: Who would be that other third one?
- 1:07:41Aiden: Probably Brooke, probably Brooke.
- 1:07:45Aiden: I think oneical falta was Terre永an, the parapet You're anowed by little classic, you know, like flamed door say nothingy.
- 1:08:02Eric: So I just know I, I just watched that I was Cosë there For her.
- 1:08:06Eric: She doesn't mean it, no, I, I I enjoyed it, Brought this up during the holidays.
- 1:08:14Eric: I always think I don't like her.
- 1:08:16Eric: Why I think I don't like her?
- 1:08:18Eric: Because I do.
- 1:08:18Eric: It's just kind of a weird one, but all right, all right.
- 1:08:24Eric: So we are going to be you're going to be on board with a new Criffer and Bethany Joy Lens Movie mystery and you and I, on Tuesday, are grabbing Sydney and breaking into the Hallmark building to find out the secret behind what really happened.
- 1:08:46Aiden: We need to know, we need to know, but we can't hear this podcast episode before Tuesday.
- 1:08:52Eric: Now, we don't have that many listeners.
- 1:08:54Eric: Okay, and they listeners keep it a secret.
- 1:08:59Eric: How's that there?
- 1:09:00Eric: Everyone said they'll keep it a secret, so we're going to go.
- 1:09:03Aiden: That surely will work.
- 1:09:05Eric: You know, just my luck, probably Hallmark one that getting broken into for some reason.
- 1:09:10Eric: You're talking about when you met Christopher and you're like all like worried about how you were and you're nervous when you first talked to him.
- 1:09:23Eric: I know that if I was in that and it was you know I use my Brooke Burns I would be the one who just be like, but you said you had a book and it helped you.
- 1:09:32Eric: I would be like book and accident and hit her across the face and give her like a bloody nose or something, but that you know how, how dorky I am with it.
- 1:09:42Eric: I just wouldn't function at all.
- 1:09:44Eric: So you're, you're, you're super smooth in my book.
- 1:09:46Eric: I would be.
- 1:09:47Eric: I would fail miserably in that situation.
- 1:09:52Aiden: No, you'd be amazing and you need, we need to make that happen.
- 1:09:55Aiden: You need to meet.
- 1:09:55Aiden: You need to meet Brooke Burns.
- 1:09:57Eric: I'm trying to get on masterminds.
- 1:10:00Eric: In all honesty I think she is and obviously I I like her, but I object to rethink.
- 1:10:10Eric: She is a fantastic game show host.
- 1:10:12Eric: I don't know if you watch game shows and when Pat's I was first of all bummed out that she didn't get to be one of the guests on Jeopardy when they did the whole thing.
- 1:10:22Eric: But I thought she should have taken over Wheel of Fortune when Pat's a jack, because she is so good in the game show genre that she needs more than mystery or what's it called masterminds.
- 1:10:40Aiden: Well, that's, that's impressive.
- 1:10:41Aiden: Keep, keep trying.
- 1:10:42Aiden: That's an amazing idea.
- 1:10:45Eric: So I just applied.
- 1:10:46Eric: So I don't know whatever happens.
- 1:10:49Aiden: So keep us posted.
- 1:10:51Eric: All right, All right.
- 1:10:53Eric: Well, thank you very much for talking some mystery 101.
- 1:10:56Eric: Obviously, some Christopher Pla and all your fun adventures there and your movie making and all those sort of great, great things.
- 1:11:05Eric: And when you share your because you do make really good content, so share your Instagram with everybody so they can come and follow you on Instagram to see your next, do you have a?
- 1:11:16Eric: Do you have one lined up, by the way, that you're going to be making any future?
- 1:11:20Aiden: I'm working on one right now.
- 1:11:21Eric: Okay, perfect, so.
- 1:11:22Eric: Yeah, so give everyone your Instagram so they can see your next movie that comes out.
- 1:11:29Aiden: Okay, so it's very simple.
- 1:11:30Aiden: It's my name Aiden Harmsden A-I-D-E-N for the first name, aiden Harmsden.
- 1:11:37Aiden: Yeah, come on over and thank you, eric.
- 1:11:42Aiden: You and I have been friends for a while and it's a real pleasure to sort of spend some face to face time with you.
- 1:11:49Aiden: That was a real treat.
- 1:11:50Eric: It was a blast.
- 1:11:51Eric: Thank you very much for agreeing to join me.
- 1:11:53Eric: All right, thank you.
- 1:11:55Eric: Have a great night.
- 1:11:56Eric: Bye.
