- 1:11Speaker 3: being happy and enjoying every moment and all that. It's
- 1:15Speaker 3: been an up and down week. I mean life is
- 1:19Speaker 3: like that in general, but it's been crazy.
- 1:22Speaker 4: Actually.
- 1:22Speaker 3: One of the listeners even messaged me this week and
- 1:25Speaker 3: was asking you how I was holding up, you know,
- 1:27Speaker 3: because they were like, yo, it must have been a
- 1:28Speaker 3: real emotional week for you, And yeah, it definitely has
- 1:31Speaker 3: a shout out to everyone, and I mean everyone who
- 1:40Speaker 3: is at New York Comic Con this weekend, because my god,
- 1:44Speaker 3: it was a lot of up in that joint.
- 1:47Speaker 4: Man. I have to say, I feel like a lot.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Of people obeyed our video where you know, they paid
- 1:53Speaker 3: attention to deodorant and shout out to Dove handing out
- 1:56Speaker 3: these joints at the con because the funk wasn't, you know,
- 2:01Speaker 3: as bad as it could be, you know.
- 2:06Speaker 2: I mean I didn't get to walk around too too much,
- 2:08Speaker 2: but I didn't I didn't tell anything on towards I
- 2:10Speaker 2: didn't smell any rightness.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Yeah, but given our like proximity people, you know, like
- 2:14Speaker 3: we didn't have to walk around for people to you know,
- 2:16Speaker 3: be up on us.
- 2:17Speaker 4: Because they was up on us.
- 2:19Speaker 3: And you know, I didn't remember being like, oh my god,
- 2:23Speaker 3: you know at any moment, you know.
- 2:25Speaker 4: So that worked out.
- 2:26Speaker 3: Shout out to people paying attention to you know, the
- 2:29Speaker 3: rules of comic Con and Duve for handing out these
- 2:32Speaker 3: spray joints everywhere you went.
- 2:33Speaker 4: I took home mad at these joints. Boy, you know
- 2:36Speaker 4: what I mean?
- 2:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that was maybe I think you said
- 2:39Speaker 2: that that was probably our tenth year at comic con or.
- 2:42Speaker 2: I mean it could be more at this point, but more.
- 2:45Speaker 2: But the point is it was an incredible comic con.
- 2:47Speaker 2: It was different. We actually had a booth. We actually
- 2:51Speaker 2: shared the booth with creator and drer Rose Washington. Shout
- 2:54Speaker 2: out to her, big buddy with you. You guys are so
- 2:57Speaker 2: much fun, so we appreciate you. Make sure you check
- 2:59Speaker 2: out her work for real. She got some incredible some
- 3:03Speaker 2: credible books. The overall convention was as mentioned, it was different.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Like we've always attended the convention as press, so we've
- 3:13Speaker 2: always been doing interviews and we still and I still
- 3:15Speaker 2: g got to do a lot a little bit of
- 3:16Speaker 2: that while I was there, but it was primarily just
- 3:19Speaker 2: press work and then you kind of just sitting around
- 3:22Speaker 2: looking at things.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Right whereas I.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Was, we were we as a unit because the whole
- 3:26Speaker 2: fan family was there. But we were working hard when
- 3:30Speaker 2: it comes to speaking to everybody, telling everybody about the show,
- 3:35Speaker 2: the brand, and a lot of you came through, and
- 3:37Speaker 2: appreciate you for coming through.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Y'all bought merch.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Y'all bought Ben's book, and it was an incredible exciting time.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Like I it was a high energy and I'm not
- 3:49Speaker 2: like the most I know people can't tell. They're like, well,
- 3:52Speaker 2: you're in the podcast, you're always out there and stuff.
- 3:54Speaker 2: I'm like, but I actually it's a lot to talk
- 3:56Speaker 2: to people. But because y'all was there for us, we
- 3:59Speaker 2: had to be there for you. So we was on
- 4:00Speaker 2: every single day and just talking to everybody. We also
- 4:04Speaker 2: were interviewed ourselves a few times that I mean came and.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Cosplayed at Swagger Lactis.
- 4:16Speaker 4: I think.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Cosplay name, so you know, he was wearing his custom
- 4:22Speaker 2: glack this headpiece along with his track suit and his
- 4:25Speaker 2: chains and rings and that was fire.
- 4:28Speaker 1: And for many years I have.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Been felt falling into the I guess the funk of
- 4:33Speaker 2: being jaded by NYCC because it was kind of the
- 4:35Speaker 2: same thing all the time.
- 4:36Speaker 1: It's just like you're grinding with.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Interviews and then like it's just walking all over the
- 4:41Speaker 2: fucking building.
- 4:42Speaker 1: This time it was different. It was a different vibe,
- 4:45Speaker 1: it was different energy, and it was good. It was
- 4:47Speaker 1: good for us. And as I.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Mentioned, like y'all really showed out and appreciate everyone who
- 4:52Speaker 2: actually listened, came by the booth. We told y'all, We
- 4:55Speaker 2: was like, you're gonna be there, come by the booth,
- 4:56Speaker 2: say hello, tell us at your listeners, let's take pictures.
- 4:59Speaker 2: And so many y'all did just that. So if you
- 5:02Speaker 2: haven't already, make sure you post and tag us. I
- 5:04Speaker 2: know a lot of people have already done that. But
- 5:05Speaker 2: if you haven't yet, please post and tag the pictures
- 5:09Speaker 2: you took with us, like it's not too late.
- 5:11Speaker 3: No, definitely not shout out to the shorty who want
- 5:14Speaker 3: biased and said, I wasn't even gonna stop say anythingt
- 5:17Speaker 3: and I listened to you all the time.
- 5:20Speaker 1: And listen, I understand not everybody. I'm going personality.
- 5:24Speaker 3: You just said it. You don't like to talk to
- 5:26Speaker 3: people either. So she was the same way, you know,
- 5:29Speaker 3: but she did talk.
- 5:30Speaker 2: To well, I just do it anyway because it has
- 5:32Speaker 2: to be done right. A lot of people will not
- 5:34Speaker 2: do it anyway. They're like, oh no, So I understand
- 5:37Speaker 2: that overcoming, especially if you're an introvert. I understand trying
- 5:40Speaker 2: to overcome that. At the same time, you came there
- 5:43Speaker 2: for a reason, right, You came there to have a
- 5:44Speaker 2: good experience. You came there to see people or things
- 5:47Speaker 2: in person that you would not be able to see otherwise,
- 5:50Speaker 2: so you should capitalize on that, even if it's in
- 5:52Speaker 2: your own way. I'm not saying you got to jump
- 5:54Speaker 2: out there and do TikTok videos with us. I'm just saying, like,
- 5:59Speaker 2: say hello, you know, well, even if hey, I listen
- 6:01Speaker 2: to y'all, I love y'all, like say it, like let
- 6:03Speaker 2: it be known because y'all came to for reasons.
- 6:05Speaker 4: But I do.
- 6:06Speaker 2: I am glad that that person you mentioned did actually
- 6:09Speaker 2: speak up. You know, maybe it took maybe it took
- 6:11Speaker 2: a three chares, but she actually came over and said
- 6:14Speaker 2: what's up. So again, I just really felt humbled, and
- 6:18Speaker 2: it was lots of like love and respect and saying
- 6:21Speaker 2: back to everybody else for showing up and as mentioned,
- 6:24Speaker 2: for really supporting us.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Y'all really supported our booth. Y'all really supported.
- 6:28Speaker 2: All of the work that we have been doing and
- 6:31Speaker 2: our presence there, and also shout out to all the
- 6:33Speaker 2: new people. There were so many new people we met
- 6:35Speaker 2: that didn't know that we exist and didn't know what
- 6:38Speaker 2: we do, and then when we told them, they were like, oh,
- 6:41Speaker 2: like that's what I've been looking for we wanted to
- 6:43Speaker 2: talk about Game of Thrones or this, that and the third,
- 6:46Speaker 2: but haven't had the right people to talk about it with, right, haven't.
- 6:50Speaker 1: I haven't had black people.
- 6:51Speaker 2: That cool black people to talk about it with, Like
- 6:53Speaker 2: sometimes that was the answer, that was the answers we
- 6:55Speaker 2: were getting. So this is this is what we do
- 6:58Speaker 2: and shout outs loose to everybody.
- 7:01Speaker 3: Yeah, no, definitely, And like you said, sometimes you can
- 7:04Speaker 3: get a little jaded doing cons over and over again
- 7:08Speaker 3: because they can't be a bit of the same thing
- 7:11Speaker 3: every time, especially us when we were doing a lot
- 7:14Speaker 3: of interviews and it was the same. Even though that's
- 7:17Speaker 3: not the same thing every time, we shouldn't be jaded
- 7:19Speaker 3: about that, and we're meeting all these different people. But
- 7:22Speaker 3: it's more just how you say, the running around and
- 7:25Speaker 3: the hours you have to put into the con, and
- 7:27Speaker 3: even though now we're putting in more hours. I definitely
- 7:31Speaker 3: enjoyed the last two years more than any other years
- 7:35Speaker 3: that I've been at New York Comic Con, except for
- 7:38Speaker 3: that one year when I got to cosplay as a
- 7:41Speaker 3: Nintendo Easy because that was just such a great day.
- 7:44Speaker 3: I feel like cosplays are something that I definitely want
- 7:48Speaker 3: to do more of because it's so much fun every time.
- 7:52Speaker 3: It's just also a lot of work. Shout out to
- 7:56Speaker 3: all the cost players who really put in that work,
- 7:58Speaker 3: because man, it was work. Everybody's been talking about the
- 8:01Speaker 3: Big Alastis. I got sent to videos a big Alatis today.
- 8:05Speaker 3: I saw that it costs that dude, the owner of
- 8:08Speaker 3: the company's thirty.
- 8:12Speaker 1: I mean he actually passed right by our booth, which
- 8:15Speaker 1: was crazy.
- 8:16Speaker 3: Yeah, big passed by and then you weren't there for
- 8:20Speaker 3: when dude in Red and Bumblebee came by and got
- 8:24Speaker 3: into a massive was not massive, but a nice little
- 8:28Speaker 3: argument dead front.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Like that's another thing. I don't know what Kat Williams.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Portal was open in front of our booth, but it
- 8:36Speaker 2: just felt like every major photo op, every argument, every
- 8:43Speaker 2: everything kept happening in front of our people would stop
- 8:45Speaker 2: right in front of it. And also we were where
- 8:47Speaker 2: we're positioned. It's in a a very heavily traffic thoroughfare
- 8:51Speaker 2: between both sides of the show floor, so maybe and
- 8:55Speaker 2: we were literally like equidistant from from that, from that
- 8:59Speaker 2: from either that wo so as.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Mentioned whatever portal was was there, whatever what do they
- 9:07Speaker 1: say in in uh in Star Wars, they said, uh.
- 9:11Speaker 2: The well, the well of the well of the Force,
- 9:13Speaker 2: so whatever they called it, right, like, there was.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Something there that was drawing everyone there, and I hey,
- 9:20Speaker 1: it was.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Good for us because it was just letting us see
- 9:23Speaker 2: things that we probably would have never seen any other time.
- 9:25Speaker 1: And it was just again just giving us more.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Exposure to So shout out to everybody who was arguing
- 9:31Speaker 2: in front of our booth.
- 9:32Speaker 1: You know, we appreciate you.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Speaking of argument, Shout out to everybody who participated in
- 9:36Speaker 2: our questions are apparently life threatening questions that we were
- 9:41Speaker 2: posting because we had a whiteboard up in front of
- 9:44Speaker 2: our booth and every maybe hour we would have another
- 9:48Speaker 2: question up where we would say, you know how everyone
- 9:51Speaker 2: knows we do the brat questions, right, you pick one
- 9:53Speaker 2: or the other.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Well one of the questions. Some of the questions were like, uh,
- 9:57Speaker 1: zen Itsu versus Okarun more.
- 10:00Speaker 4: Of a battle Royale, like.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Sure, yeah versus Okarun, Sale Moon versus Goku, Batman versus
- 10:06Speaker 2: iron Man like these are some This is just some
- 10:08Speaker 2: of the questions that we were asking. But again, every
- 10:11Speaker 2: about every hour we were putting some new questions up
- 10:13Speaker 2: and asking people to stop and vote and the arguments
- 10:18Speaker 2: that were occurring. Shout out again to Andrea Rose Washington,
- 10:21Speaker 2: who was first of all, doing voter suppression.
- 10:24Speaker 1: You were engaging in voter suppression.
- 10:26Speaker 2: We had a poll that said tough versus Magneto, and
- 10:30Speaker 2: when people would come over and try to say they
- 10:32Speaker 2: peace about, like, for example, why they want Magneto, she
- 10:34Speaker 2: would argue them down, talking about, no, it should be
- 10:37Speaker 2: tall and this is why. And it was funn it
- 10:39Speaker 2: was all it was all love, right, but it was
- 10:41Speaker 2: just so funny how passionate everyone was. And even I
- 10:45Speaker 2: got passionate about a few other questions that were up there,
- 10:48Speaker 2: but it was so good to see that energy from everybody.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Yeah, we didn't even get to get the one that
- 10:53Speaker 3: had me and Ben arguing to death about Superman versus Goku,
- 10:58Speaker 3: because you know, I would here no Superman slander ever,
- 11:02Speaker 3: and yeah he whooped gokus, I don't want to hear it.
- 11:05Speaker 3: And also I felt that Sailor Moon would really whoop
- 11:09Speaker 3: his ass.
- 11:10Speaker 4: And I just didn't.
- 11:11Speaker 1: I mean, that is misogyny, because that's how I felt.
- 11:14Speaker 2: It's just rooting the misogyny, and it's rooted in and
- 11:16Speaker 2: hyper masculinity. Where like, whoa, he's this muscular guy that
- 11:20Speaker 2: does this and that and has powers and he defeated
- 11:22Speaker 2: birds or whatever the fuck y'all don't understand the history though, Yeah.
- 11:26Speaker 3: Because on the low, I take Sailor over Superman because
- 11:29Speaker 3: Sailor Moon that's magic, right, she.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Has the power to reconstitute the universe, but she has
- 11:35Speaker 2: and destroy it.
- 11:36Speaker 4: It's through like magical.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Means magical girl quote unquote. Sure, yeah, that's the genre.
- 11:41Speaker 3: She got it there because that that Superman's big weakness.
- 11:44Speaker 3: That's what a lot of people don't know. It's a
- 11:45Speaker 3: big weakness and the magic.
- 11:47Speaker 1: So that Tana got one up on him.
- 11:50Speaker 3: Oh yeah, Satana definitely is running up. I mean, the
- 11:53Speaker 3: thing is he's still Superman, so you know, you can
- 11:55Speaker 3: probably move fast.
- 11:55Speaker 2: He could bobby break your neck before you get that.
- 12:02Speaker 3: But the thing is, all you got to say is stop,
- 12:05Speaker 3: you know, in reverse, and that don't take long to say,
- 12:09Speaker 3: you know, kill yourself, you know, say so it's like
- 12:16Speaker 3: you better be quit super Man because otherwise it's tight.
- 12:19Speaker 4: You know. Yeah, the time I definitely got his ass,
- 12:22Speaker 4: I guess.
- 12:22Speaker 2: But but that was fun and that's something like we
- 12:24Speaker 2: would will do again, Like anytime we have like if
- 12:27Speaker 2: we're we're at a con or have a lot of event,
- 12:28Speaker 2: will probly do that again because again, it just showed
- 12:31Speaker 2: the energy about what we bring when we our podcast.
- 12:34Speaker 2: It shows the energy about how we engage with everybody,
- 12:37Speaker 2: and it just shows like how much everyone cares about
- 12:39Speaker 2: fandom and it was fun.
- 12:41Speaker 1: So I really, I really liked that we did that.
- 12:44Speaker 2: And again, just shouts to everybody who participated. That was
- 12:47Speaker 2: I mean, some of the votes were insane and there
- 12:50Speaker 2: was a lot of you voting.
- 12:51Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Shout outs to the hot Flips booth who was directly
- 12:54Speaker 3: across from us, and hot Flips is the people who
- 12:57Speaker 3: you buy.
- 12:57Speaker 4: They sell all the covers for posters.
- 13:00Speaker 3: Is anything you buy at the con, they got a
- 13:02Speaker 3: cover for it, and they were quite engaged from across
- 13:06Speaker 3: the way they were. They were also like ms Washington,
- 13:09Speaker 3: they had a lot of opinions. They were even offering
- 13:13Speaker 3: ideas for verses and everything. So I love to see it,
- 13:17Speaker 3: love to see everybody, you know, getting what we are getting.
- 13:20Speaker 3: What for all nerds is all about. It was really
- 13:23Speaker 3: that was also one of my favorite themes is like
- 13:25Speaker 3: you said, there was a lot of people who probably
- 13:27Speaker 3: had no idea who we were. And then they walked
- 13:30Speaker 3: up and they see, you know, Gucci Mandalori and they
- 13:34Speaker 3: see the Con exclusive Flex Luthor shirt.
- 13:37Speaker 4: They saw the.
- 13:39Speaker 2: Way guys coming up. It's coming up on the site soon,
- 13:43Speaker 2: Flex Luthor.
- 13:44Speaker 3: Yeah, and we also need some three X and four
- 13:47Speaker 3: X as we were told on the site in general.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Beacon, I got three x X money.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Hey, we gonna have to do it because we got
- 13:53Speaker 3: big boys, you know, big boys and big girls out there.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Y'all got three x YX money. Just y'all got McDonald's money.
- 13:59Speaker 3: Look biggs out, but you know they got them they
- 14:01Speaker 3: buying their shirts.
- 14:05Speaker 4: I already said big girls, big boys, you know.
- 14:08Speaker 1: But bighams is just another level of disrespect.
- 14:13Speaker 4: You know. Slim little rooms, big rooms. You know, we
- 14:16Speaker 4: got the size of frall.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Okay, and make sure y'all are locked into our socials
- 14:23Speaker 2: because we've been dropping well definitely, Ben I mean and
- 14:26Speaker 2: the four our Nerds accounts have been dropping videos, reels,
- 14:30Speaker 2: tiktoks of.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Our time there at Comic Con. So you'll get to
- 14:34Speaker 1: see that.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Ben Hamen has one out now where he basically shows
- 14:37Speaker 2: almost everyone he interacted with when he was Waggle Actus
- 14:40Speaker 2: you see him dancing all in the video, you see
- 14:45Speaker 2: him posting up with.
- 14:46Speaker 4: With the kids.
- 14:47Speaker 3: Hold up all right, First of all, that was one
- 14:50Speaker 3: of my favorite things. And I can't wait for Halloween
- 14:52Speaker 3: now because now that I know how swaggle At just
- 14:54Speaker 3: goes over with the kids, I cannot wait for Halloween.
- 14:58Speaker 3: But there was this little Joker and little Batman together,
- 15:03Speaker 3: and the little Joker in the picture together is imitating
- 15:07Speaker 3: the B two fist hand you know gesture that I
- 15:11Speaker 3: was doing for all the pictures.
- 15:13Speaker 4: And my heart, folks, like that was.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Just you know what I mean, just all those little
- 15:19Speaker 3: kids because some of these little kids, I had no
- 15:21Speaker 3: idea how big Galactus is with Thomlins, like, well, they don't.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Know who the fuck he is, but they do know
- 15:30Speaker 2: something that to to like a Tyler, a three year
- 15:33Speaker 2: old's not Gonnassary or a four year old or whatever.
- 15:35Speaker 1: You're sitting with Tyler. They don't know what what exactly
- 15:38Speaker 1: he is, but they know that they're drawn to it.
- 15:40Speaker 3: Yeah, but they knew his name, and every day, you know,
- 15:42Speaker 3: they're like a Lattis, you know. They those kids were
- 15:44Speaker 3: older than three, but three or four. Yeah, but I'm like,
- 15:48Speaker 3: there was a couple of kids who their parents were like, no,
- 15:51Speaker 3: the Laptus is his favorite character, and I'm.
- 15:54Speaker 4: Like, yo, you're not good.
- 15:55Speaker 1: I wonder if they saw like Fantastic four.
- 15:57Speaker 4: Oh yeah, of course, yeah, I.
- 15:59Speaker 3: Get it because it's like, you know, six, when I
- 16:02Speaker 3: was six, I was you know, I'd be like this
- 16:04Speaker 3: random Star Wars is my favorite character, so it'd be
- 16:07Speaker 3: the same thing.
- 16:08Speaker 5: You know.
- 16:08Speaker 3: It's just right now, Marvel's big, so there's going to
- 16:11Speaker 3: be a kid assessed with Galactus, which is still crazy
- 16:14Speaker 3: to me.
- 16:14Speaker 4: But it was so awesome. Yeah, no sweat.
- 16:17Speaker 3: Just that day being Galatus was one of my favorite
- 16:20Speaker 3: days in any con.
- 16:22Speaker 4: The whole con was great.
- 16:24Speaker 3: It's always great seeing people I swear and I'm so
- 16:28Speaker 3: mad that it's just one of them things that's kind
- 16:30Speaker 3: of impossible for me to get the reactions. But every
- 16:34Speaker 3: time I've ever told someone Jimmy Hendrix in Space about
- 16:38Speaker 3: Jimmy Hendrix Purple Haze and seeing their faces light up
- 16:41Speaker 3: is just one of the greatest moments ever and I
- 16:44Speaker 3: will always appreciate it and super appreciate all the different
- 16:49Speaker 3: people who came out and bought the book and got
- 16:52Speaker 3: a copy, and even if you didn't buy it, just
- 16:54Speaker 3: sat there and listened to me tell you about Jimmy
- 16:56Speaker 3: Hendrix Space, which is really amazing, and.
- 16:58Speaker 4: Thank you to all y'all.
- 17:00Speaker 3: Definitely, besides that, you know, there was some news and
- 17:04Speaker 3: trailers and various things going on in New York Comic Con,
- 17:07Speaker 3: as there always are, like a Danna said, we were
- 17:10Speaker 3: mainly at our booth. We did a couple of interviews
- 17:12Speaker 3: that you'll be seeing coming out soon. But was there
- 17:15Speaker 3: any news that you've heard since you know, you got
- 17:17Speaker 3: out of there that drop that you were you know,
- 17:21Speaker 3: hyped about or anything.
- 17:23Speaker 2: I don't know if hype but interested or moldly intrigued.
- 17:28Speaker 2: So the wonder Man trailer was out, came out yah
- 17:32Speaker 2: y'abdu mateen the second he was actually at Comic Con
- 17:35Speaker 2: along with some a few other people from the show
- 17:38Speaker 2: actually promoting it and then as mentioned that the trailer drops.
- 17:42Speaker 2: So I don't know much about wonder Man, but from
- 17:44Speaker 2: the backstory that I do know, Jess and from what
- 17:47Speaker 2: they're positioning this show, I seems like the position to
- 17:50Speaker 2: show to be is like the actor before he got
- 17:53Speaker 2: the powers, So like.
- 17:56Speaker 4: It's all talk more about.
- 17:57Speaker 3: It, But yeah, you've seen the trail yeah, okay, all right, Well,
- 18:02Speaker 3: wonder Man from the comics is a character named Simon Williams.
- 18:05Speaker 4: He's a white dude.
- 18:06Speaker 3: As you see in the movie trailer that they are
- 18:09Speaker 3: like the old movie that they show that white dude
- 18:12Speaker 3: is wearing the green and red costume with a big
- 18:15Speaker 3: w that's one of wonder Man's costumes. Long story short,
- 18:19Speaker 3: wonder Man is a He's Simon Williams. He's an engineer
- 18:24Speaker 3: and a industrialist who's like a rival of Tony Starks.
- 18:29Speaker 3: And in this rivalry he gets involved with the some villains,
- 18:33Speaker 3: some super villains, and they give him powers where he
- 18:36Speaker 3: becomes wonder Man. One of the powers, he's indestructible. He's
- 18:41Speaker 3: super strong. He's fused with what they call in the
- 18:43Speaker 3: comics ionic energy, and so he eventually becomes a being
- 18:48Speaker 3: of pure energy and a bunch of other stuff, but
- 18:50Speaker 3: for most of it he's super strong and indestructible. You know,
- 18:53Speaker 3: he's wonder Man, right, And he fights the Avengers and
- 18:57Speaker 3: dies like pretty much immediately in.
- 18:59Speaker 4: His first battle. And I guess, so I didn't know
- 19:06Speaker 4: that happened, depict.
- 19:08Speaker 2: No, I mean, if you really want to say a
- 19:10Speaker 2: Caather that happens to on a frequent basis.
- 19:12Speaker 1: Yamcha, Okay, it's TBZ. You don't fuck with disease like that.
- 19:16Speaker 3: I'm not like that, but whatever, I get it. He
- 19:18Speaker 3: fights Avengers and lays it down. And while did the
- 19:22Speaker 3: Avengers on, an ultron comes along and takes his brain
- 19:27Speaker 3: copy of his brain pattern and creates the vision. And
- 19:31Speaker 3: so the vision in the comics has Simon Williams' brain
- 19:35Speaker 3: patterns whatever you know, whatever that is. Eventually, Simon Williams
- 19:39Speaker 3: comes back and joins the Avengers and goes on to
- 19:43Speaker 3: have a long career as one of the Avengers. And
- 19:45Speaker 3: like I said, he's made of energy, where first he
- 19:48Speaker 3: has super strengthen and vernability, but eventually he becomes a
- 19:51Speaker 3: dude who can fly and a bunch of other stuff
- 19:53Speaker 3: just through his energy. But the one they show in
- 19:56Speaker 3: the trailer is the original one of the Man where
- 20:00Speaker 3: he's this super strong dude who's a vulnerable and has
- 20:03Speaker 3: a jetpat.
- 20:03Speaker 4: To fly around.
- 20:05Speaker 2: And as mentioned, the show is taking things differently, Like yeah,
- 20:10Speaker 2: in the trailer, it's so funny.
- 20:12Speaker 1: They even made like a they broke the fourth word
- 20:15Speaker 1: a little bit.
- 20:15Speaker 2: They made a joke about what's his face that was
- 20:18Speaker 2: a terrorist in Uh iron Man three.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Kingsley, Sir Ben Kingsley plays Trevor what yeah whatever, but
- 20:27Speaker 1: he he was, He's in the he's in the show
- 20:30Speaker 1: and like and they even like, as I mentioned, he
- 20:32Speaker 1: even referenced him. Wasn't he he used to be a terrorist?
- 20:34Speaker 4: Yes? Yeah, because he was.
- 20:36Speaker 1: And it's like it's like some ship that would be
- 20:41Speaker 1: on Apple TV.
- 20:43Speaker 2: That's the vibe I'm getting from it, Like it's like
- 20:45Speaker 2: one of those it's not it's not a drama, it's
- 20:48Speaker 2: not a comedy. It's just like and it's it's like
- 20:53Speaker 2: shot like a period it's shot like it's in his
- 20:55Speaker 2: seventies or something like that, but parts.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Parts of it.
- 20:58Speaker 2: But from what I saw, it looked like it was
- 21:01Speaker 2: a little bit back in the day or it could
- 21:03Speaker 2: it just be like it has that high eight look
- 21:05Speaker 2: like it just could be the treatment that they did
- 21:07Speaker 2: to the film but to the video rather. But again,
- 21:10Speaker 2: it's just like I'm not sure what this tone is,
- 21:13Speaker 2: but it definitely looks like something that would appear on appltude,
- 21:15Speaker 2: Like it's in the same vein of like you ain't
- 21:18Speaker 2: never seen a show like this before, like kind of
- 21:20Speaker 2: like how Severance was for me when I first watched it.
- 21:22Speaker 2: I'm just like, Oh, that's different how they're going about it.
- 21:25Speaker 2: And it's also different for me in terms of a
- 21:27Speaker 2: Marvel property, like which is great that they're trying to
- 21:30Speaker 2: do something different. I also don't know if I get it,
- 21:34Speaker 2: and maybe I have to watch the show to get it,
- 21:36Speaker 2: but I don't know if I quite get it, and
- 21:38Speaker 2: what their reasonings were for doing this property. And it
- 21:41Speaker 2: wasn't a it wasn't news like we knew years ago
- 21:44Speaker 2: because it was on the timeline. It was in the
- 21:46Speaker 2: if you want to, you know, D twenty three a
- 21:48Speaker 2: day like that, they tell you that it's coming. But
- 21:49Speaker 2: it's just like, what is the reason, what is a
- 21:53Speaker 2: justification for this character and this approach?
- 21:56Speaker 4: Yeah, this approach. And then I saw someone.
- 21:59Speaker 2: On this character too because I hear what you just
- 22:01Speaker 2: said about who he is, what he does, and I'm like, Okay, well, no.
- 22:04Speaker 3: Wonder Man in the comics is definitely a character that
- 22:09Speaker 3: I could see being used on, you know, in the MCU.
- 22:13Speaker 4: It's just this.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Approach in what way?
- 22:17Speaker 4: But if they if.
- 22:18Speaker 3: They've gone about it like the way that he is
- 22:20Speaker 3: in the comics, and that's the problem you already have
- 22:22Speaker 3: a vision now that's just a little late.
- 22:25Speaker 1: But what about him is like stand out?
- 22:28Speaker 2: Like, oh, like, first of all, and I'm not gonna
- 22:30Speaker 2: be a hater shout out to y'a y'all doing a
- 22:32Speaker 2: teen like the second get your money, I'm and him
- 22:35Speaker 2: aside the character, I was just like, what about that
- 22:37Speaker 2: character was so intriguing? That was like, we want to
- 22:39Speaker 2: do a whole show centered around him.
- 22:41Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't get it this approach again, But if
- 22:43Speaker 3: you connect them to the Vision, there's a lot of
- 22:46Speaker 3: intriguing and a lot of storylines there. Him and Division,
- 22:49Speaker 3: him and Starlti Witch have this whole love triangle you
- 22:52Speaker 3: know going on. It was you know, they're brothers, but
- 22:55Speaker 3: they both love the same woman. It was interesting this approach.
- 22:59Speaker 3: I don't know. Now people have said online that what
- 23:01Speaker 3: we see in the trailer is probably from the early episodes,
- 23:04Speaker 3: and maybe y'all y'all actually does have powers and we're
- 23:08Speaker 3: just not seeing that yet potentially.
- 23:10Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, and I still don't know. It's just it's
- 23:14Speaker 4: really interesting.
- 23:14Speaker 3: To me that this is coming out, and then Spider
- 23:18Speaker 3: Man is coming out.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Vision Quest is going to be coming out somewhat soon too.
- 23:23Speaker 2: And it's and it's supposed to be positioned a year
- 23:25Speaker 2: after the events of Wanda Vision.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Okay, and this is definitely after everything because like we said,
- 23:30Speaker 3: you know, he's being referred to as a former terrorist,
- 23:32Speaker 3: so all that's happened. I don't know how this and
- 23:37Speaker 3: Spider Man and we do. I don't know when Vision
- 23:40Speaker 3: Quest is coming out right now, it's.
- 23:42Speaker 4: Not like yeah, but doesn't say win yeah, and.
- 23:47Speaker 3: Right now Spider Man and then Avengers is how it
- 23:51Speaker 3: is right now with this today, Yeah, yeah, Wonder Man,
- 23:56Speaker 3: Spider Man, Avengers.
- 23:59Speaker 4: It just doesn't feel like enough build up right now.
- 24:01Speaker 1: It's I don't know, it's just weird. And then you
- 24:03Speaker 1: also have.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Just in terms of all the news is be coming out,
- 24:05Speaker 2: and you have Channing Tatum hype in Doomsday because they've
- 24:09Speaker 2: recently just finished this rap filming. So it's just like
- 24:12Speaker 2: y'all not ready, y'all not ready. And y'all know Channon
- 24:15Speaker 2: is a super fan.
- 24:16Speaker 1: You know.
- 24:16Speaker 2: He obviously got to reprise his role as Gambit, which
- 24:18Speaker 2: I love, like I just want him to always just
- 24:21Speaker 2: be that character, like you know, oh boy made a
- 24:23Speaker 2: name for myself, like let him cook. I love that
- 24:26Speaker 2: shit that said I don't get the inter correlation between
- 24:32Speaker 2: all of these different properties. Not to say that I
- 24:33Speaker 2: have to get it, because for all I know, they
- 24:36Speaker 2: got you know, they're doing a hat trick.
- 24:38Speaker 1: They're gonna pull a hat trick and go go wild
- 24:40Speaker 1: on us.
- 24:40Speaker 2: But right now, Marvel's a little down bad, especially compared
- 24:44Speaker 2: to the renaissance as DC is having when it comes
- 24:47Speaker 2: to movies and TV.
- 24:49Speaker 4: Anyway, So yo, it's crazy though.
- 24:51Speaker 3: I saw people hating on the Piecemaker finalite, like, oh man,
- 24:57Speaker 3: the opposite reaction that.
- 24:59Speaker 1: I and that's fair.
- 25:02Speaker 4: Yeah. Also, it was just.
- 25:04Speaker 3: Like our Him review where everything I read I was like, well,
- 25:07Speaker 3: I can't argue that I agree, Like yeah, I was
- 25:13Speaker 3: like I loved it, but I get why you hate it.
- 25:18Speaker 1: And weeks later I still love Him. One of the
- 25:22Speaker 1: funniest fucking movies ever.
- 25:23Speaker 4: Made, and I still fully understand why people hate.
- 25:25Speaker 1: It, just like oh yeah, no sense.
- 25:29Speaker 4: Yeah, it's like the Peacemaker Finale.
- 25:31Speaker 3: There was like two full on music videos in it,
- 25:34Speaker 3: and James Dunn's taste in music is questionable at best.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't. I think that's why I don't know anyway.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Yeah, as far as like news that came out I
- 25:45Speaker 2: mean like George R. Dr Martin was there to get
- 25:47Speaker 2: to see him, but he was there. We talked about
- 25:51Speaker 2: him before Maslani was there. I also feel this com
- 25:59Speaker 2: coom was a little light on, like news like shit
- 26:03Speaker 2: that's like holy shit, and it kind of reminded me
- 26:05Speaker 2: of like what happened to s DCC, where it's just
- 26:07Speaker 2: like it also felt kind of light like I know,
- 26:10Speaker 2: like a lot of the big names weren't really and
- 26:13Speaker 2: they haven't for many years now, but it was like
- 26:15Speaker 2: really noticeable. I feel this this year for both San
- 26:18Speaker 2: Diego and New York, where it was just like since
- 26:21Speaker 2: these big publishers kind of do their own announcements and
- 26:24Speaker 2: reveals throughout the year on their own time and their
- 26:27Speaker 2: own big events, like they don't really get the same
- 26:29Speaker 2: play that they used to to the comic cons. You know,
- 26:32Speaker 2: certain things here and there, but like I just felt
- 26:34Speaker 2: like it wasn't as wasn't.
- 26:36Speaker 1: As ops as these reveals and panels normally are.
- 26:41Speaker 4: It's also feel.
- 26:42Speaker 3: Like that it's also like the timing right, like Peacemaker
- 26:45Speaker 3: just ended right before the con super Girls and ready
- 26:49Speaker 3: for them to show off anything like that Avengers same thing.
- 26:53Speaker 3: They're not gonna show off anything. You know, they're not
- 26:56Speaker 3: dropping the trailer when they have to drop a wonder
- 26:58Speaker 3: Man trailer, so not gonna squash their own trailer right there.
- 27:03Speaker 3: And so it's just that's that's the bit. Those are
- 27:05Speaker 3: the two ones, and then the rest of it is
- 27:07Speaker 3: a bunch of random movies that you know. I saw
- 27:10Speaker 3: Chris Pratt drop the New Joint, and I'm like, you know,
- 27:13Speaker 3: I saw Chris Pratt and I was like, okay, whatever,
- 27:15Speaker 3: all I care about that when the time comes, I'm
- 27:19Speaker 3: not gonna watch the trailer for that right now, Like, no,
- 27:21Speaker 3: it's Chris Pratt. And then there was another There was
- 27:25Speaker 3: a I think it might be a little bit extended
- 27:27Speaker 3: trailer for Predator bad Lands, but I'm already sold on that,
- 27:31Speaker 3: you know, I don't need anymore to see anything from that.
- 27:33Speaker 3: So I didn't watch that as well because I already
- 27:35Speaker 3: want to see that. And yeah, it's it was just timing.
- 27:39Speaker 3: I think I think it's been timing.
- 27:41Speaker 2: But it also happened in San Diego, where that's it's timing.
- 27:46Speaker 4: And what you said that they have their own events.
- 27:48Speaker 3: You know, D twenty three is where they're gonna drop
- 27:51Speaker 3: Avengers Doom say, that's where they're.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Really gonna and you know that this year, so it
- 27:55Speaker 2: is already passed, but like that's where they're really gonna
- 27:57Speaker 2: go ham as they do.
- 27:58Speaker 1: You know, that's where they revealed Artie J and everybody else.
- 28:02Speaker 3: Yep, And that's when probably dropped the trailer because that's
- 28:04Speaker 3: next year, because I think Doomsday is going to come
- 28:07Speaker 3: out like either before or right during.
- 28:11Speaker 5: The move.
- 28:12Speaker 3: You're right, they moved into December. Oh shit, so both
- 28:15Speaker 3: of these times were past.
- 28:17Speaker 2: Yeah Avengers, they're supposed to drop December eighteenth, twenty twenty six.
- 28:21Speaker 3: Oh yeah, you're right, so they both there will yeah,
- 28:24Speaker 3: set up probably drop a trailer at San Diego.
- 28:27Speaker 4: And like something else.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Is maybe something huge will happen in New York because
- 28:32Speaker 1: it's close enough.
- 28:33Speaker 4: Yeah maybe. I mean both of those are probably gonna
- 28:37Speaker 4: be pretty lit the next year.
- 28:38Speaker 3: Yeah, Supergirl and yeah yeah.
- 28:41Speaker 1: And then also like even the layout of New York
- 28:43Speaker 1: Comic Co.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Just to kind of close this conversation out, even layout
- 28:46Speaker 2: with you com kom was different and like noticeably, like
- 28:49Speaker 2: certain big booths that are normally in like the same
- 28:52Speaker 2: places every year for ten years straight were like either
- 28:55Speaker 2: nowhere to be found, or relegated to the corners. Like
- 28:58Speaker 2: for example, like we talked about the pop Vinyl booths,
- 29:01Speaker 2: it's usually in that scene. It's usually in the same
- 29:03Speaker 2: spot every single year, like right when you first walk
- 29:05Speaker 2: onto the show floor from the thirty fifth Street entrance,
- 29:09Speaker 2: and they were like way off in the cut. Maybe
- 29:13Speaker 2: maybe right where or maybe that was strategic to like
- 29:17Speaker 2: try to not like have this huge line of people,
- 29:20Speaker 2: not that that ever.
- 29:20Speaker 4: Stops lines, No that money would pay for that spot.
- 29:26Speaker 2: DC comments had a booth way in the cut in Narnia,
- 29:30Speaker 2: and it was just like.
- 29:32Speaker 1: And they chose it right, cause like these aren't.
- 29:34Speaker 2: Like like little sniveling folks that you know, are begging
- 29:37Speaker 2: for a booth like these, this is whole houses that
- 29:40Speaker 2: got money, and like they chose that, so I, you know,
- 29:45Speaker 2: the presence that the level of presence was was was
- 29:47Speaker 2: to me noticed to be different.
- 29:49Speaker 4: Mm hm.
- 29:51Speaker 3: Also, there was some complaints about the movie The Cosplayer,
- 29:55Speaker 3: such an I didn't know where.
- 29:56Speaker 1: That was, so yeah, that was confusing, Like.
- 30:00Speaker 4: I never saw the tabletop gaming such.
- 30:04Speaker 2: That if DC was in Narnia, then tabletop and gaming
- 30:08Speaker 2: all that shit was in Yonkers because fucking up nor Upstate,
- 30:13Speaker 2: because I when I went around, like one of the days,
- 30:16Speaker 2: I actually walked around for about an hour to like
- 30:18Speaker 2: look at all the stuff to buy, and that's when
- 30:21Speaker 2: I accidentally ran into like the tabletop and the.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Game like the video game systems and stuff like. It was
- 30:26Speaker 1: literally like under and overhang, like it was weird.
- 30:30Speaker 2: And also they moved them downstairs like that's a nothing.
- 30:32Speaker 2: A lot of people don't realize how big the Javis
- 30:34Speaker 2: Center is.
- 30:35Speaker 1: It's fucking huge, and they've always had like separation church
- 30:41Speaker 1: and state in some areas. But again, like where they
- 30:44Speaker 1: decided to put.
- 30:45Speaker 2: People this year was questionable at best because it wasn't
- 30:48Speaker 2: necessarily for some people giving them dedicated space, like cosplayers
- 30:51Speaker 2: should be afforded more respect, right because they're one of
- 30:55Speaker 2: the main reasons why people show up at least that
- 30:57Speaker 2: for me, it generally was it was just like I
- 31:00Speaker 2: want to see how people it's gonna what cave they're
- 31:02Speaker 2: going to do, and how they're going to do it.
- 31:03Speaker 2: I mean, that's how they advertise the convention cosplayers.
- 31:07Speaker 3: But then the other side of it is I saw
- 31:09Speaker 3: certain cosplayers were happy about that such and because it
- 31:11Speaker 3: has the most natural light and the most bathrooms yeah. Yeah,
- 31:16Speaker 3: So it's like you can't win, yes, and yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 31:20Speaker 3: you can't win. You know, you can't please everybody. That's
- 31:22Speaker 3: the problem.
- 31:22Speaker 2: There so so positives and negatives you know about NYCC,
- 31:27Speaker 2: But at the end of the day, it was all
- 31:28Speaker 2: positive for us here at for all nerds because we
- 31:31Speaker 2: got to see y'all and y'all got to love on
- 31:33Speaker 2: us and we appreciated.
- 31:35Speaker 4: Word and that year is the twentieth anniversary.
- 31:37Speaker 2: Yeah, so that's why we got to be up in
- 31:40Speaker 2: there again. We're going to be in there and making
- 31:42Speaker 2: y'all pull your hair out with these questions again. So
- 31:46Speaker 2: the battle of y'all questions and again we'll be there
- 31:49Speaker 2: with more cool teams and more energy.
- 31:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 31:53Speaker 3: Like we said, it has been a week of ups
- 31:55Speaker 3: and downs and you know that, Like we had New
- 32:00Speaker 3: York Comic Con and then oh man.
- 32:04Speaker 4: It's so difficult to even talk about this, but this.
- 32:07Speaker 3: Week the world found out that the artist known as
- 32:12Speaker 3: D'Angelo passed away from pancreatic cancer at the age of fifty.
- 32:17Speaker 1: One and very young. That's very young.
- 32:21Speaker 2: And I know the gen zs that listened to the
- 32:24Speaker 2: show are like, oh he was old, No, no, no.
- 32:27Speaker 1: Four or fourth. That's young, especially to be passing away
- 32:30Speaker 1: for something like that.
- 32:32Speaker 3: Yeah, it's dumb young and one shout out to his
- 32:36Speaker 3: I think it's a sonny as with Angie Stone who lost.
- 32:39Speaker 4: Both of his parents in the same year, in.
- 32:42Speaker 3: The same year, and as someone who's lost both of
- 32:46Speaker 3: their parents in a few years span, it's just unbelievable.
- 32:49Speaker 3: And you know not and I'm not nearly as young
- 32:51Speaker 3: as that young man is.
- 32:52Speaker 1: So yeah.
- 32:54Speaker 2: They also there was a video they had of both
- 32:56Speaker 2: because you know, a Nan the Lewis also passed earlier
- 32:58Speaker 2: this year, and there was a video of her interviewing
- 33:00Speaker 2: D'Angelo and like they were just like, I forgot who
- 33:03Speaker 2: posted Oh yeah, Marcus Prie posted it and he was
- 33:05Speaker 2: just like I just looked at it. I was like, damn,
- 33:08Speaker 2: like yeah, and even essence they did a post where,
- 33:12Speaker 2: you know, they were shining light on men's health and
- 33:14Speaker 2: you know, especially black men's health, and they were just
- 33:17Speaker 2: going down the line of like all of these luminaries
- 33:20Speaker 2: and entertainment and music that passed in their you know,
- 33:24Speaker 2: fifties forties for some people like and like I mean, like,
- 33:28Speaker 2: you know, they they mentioned so many people and I
- 33:30Speaker 2: was just really shocked, Like I didn't realize how old
- 33:32Speaker 2: these people were, you know, I'm thinking, oh, like, you know,
- 33:34Speaker 2: you're much advanced age you on some natural causes type shit, No,
- 33:39Speaker 2: notual causes.
- 33:39Speaker 1: In a way, but like gone way too soon. Yeah,
- 33:42Speaker 1: And how does that affected you then?
- 33:45Speaker 4: I mean, it's just it's been a lot. Like D'Angelo
- 33:48Speaker 4: is just.
- 33:50Speaker 3: I mean, he's one of the greatest artists to me
- 33:52Speaker 3: of all time, and it's someone who's like if anyone's
- 33:57Speaker 3: read Purple Haze, you know, a big part of it
- 33:59Speaker 3: is this whole idea of this river of black music,
- 34:03Speaker 3: and I just consider D'Angel to be such an.
- 34:07Speaker 4: Important part of that river.
- 34:11Speaker 3: And even more so, it's something I've been realizing a
- 34:14Speaker 3: lot lately that pretty much every major black artist is
- 34:19Speaker 3: a genre into themselves, Like when you get into like
- 34:22Speaker 3: the you know, Miles Davis's, the Jimmy Hendrix to John Coltrane's,
- 34:27Speaker 3: even the people that are less well known like Sugary
- 34:30Speaker 3: Otis or someone who a lot of people know but
- 34:32Speaker 3: don't realize the depth of their music, like Curtis Mayfield.
- 34:37Speaker 3: These people are so tremendous, you know, in of themselves.
- 34:44Speaker 3: And D'Angelo, for only having three studio albums is that
- 34:49Speaker 3: same level. Like I was the person when I first
- 34:51Speaker 3: heard Brown Sugar, and when I realized that Doro was
- 34:54Speaker 3: playing everything and singing everything, I immediately started putting them
- 34:58Speaker 3: in that same category Prince, and I know Prince.
- 35:01Speaker 4: Was a hero of his.
- 35:03Speaker 3: And then when you hear that first album, it's just
- 35:06Speaker 3: beginning to end pretty much perfect, and then Voodoo is
- 35:11Speaker 3: even better. And Voodoo is just one of those albums
- 35:14Speaker 3: that is it's just the fining, you know.
- 35:18Speaker 4: It's like you know, pre Voodoo and post Voodoo.
- 35:21Speaker 3: You know, it's one of those things where it just
- 35:22Speaker 3: changes everything and everyone is influenced by it. And then
- 35:27Speaker 3: it's also so influenced by, you know, the greats, and
- 35:31Speaker 3: he was such a student of the greats, like I
- 35:35Speaker 3: know that he was a big fan of the album
- 35:39Speaker 3: that we based a lot of Purple Haze on is
- 35:41Speaker 3: the band of Gypsy's album.
- 35:43Speaker 4: And there's just not many people like that, man, you know.
- 35:47Speaker 3: And in this day and age, it's so hard to
- 35:50Speaker 3: find newer artists who are on that same path, you know.
- 35:56Speaker 3: And it's just because the reality of making music has changed,
- 36:00Speaker 3: change all these different things. But man, he was just
- 36:03Speaker 3: like I hate to say, you know, like the last
- 36:05Speaker 3: of his kind, but he was just one of those ones.
- 36:09Speaker 3: I don't think he was the last kind by any means,
- 36:12Speaker 3: but well of.
- 36:13Speaker 2: His error, Yeah, not the last, but he's like one
- 36:17Speaker 2: of the I mean what the era he represents like that,
- 36:22Speaker 2: that's literally part of the list of people, like I
- 36:24Speaker 2: mentioned Essence put up that like have generally recently passed,
- 36:28Speaker 2: and it's just like that is like a very specific error.
- 36:32Speaker 4: Yeah, and even beyond that era.
- 36:34Speaker 3: It's just he's one of the ones who it's like
- 36:38Speaker 3: Prince is not of any era. Michael Jackson is not
- 36:41Speaker 3: of any era. You know, their shit is timeless. You know,
- 36:43Speaker 3: that's D'Angelo. That's the same thing. You know, it's somebody
- 36:46Speaker 3: who puts so much artistry into their music that it
- 36:49Speaker 3: just stands to test the time that it doesn't sound
- 36:53Speaker 3: like anything from any other time. You know, like Voodoo
- 36:56Speaker 3: didn't sound like anything else, you know, it was Voodoo
- 37:01Speaker 3: that was just so like what the fuck is this
- 37:04Speaker 3: negro On type shit? When that dropped, and then Black
- 37:08Speaker 3: Messiah is the same thing. Like Black Messiah, like people
- 37:11Speaker 3: get mad at that album because you know, they're like,
- 37:13Speaker 3: I can't understand what he's saying, you know, and all
- 37:15Speaker 3: this type of stuff, but everything is so intentionally done and.
- 37:19Speaker 4: It's such an incredible piece of work.
- 37:22Speaker 3: Every time, you know, Brown Sugar, like the first album
- 37:24Speaker 3: is just and like I was someone who got to
- 37:27Speaker 3: see him a few times, you know, live, and it
- 37:31Speaker 3: was just unbelievable experience. Every time I was talking about
- 37:35Speaker 3: it on threads. Today there's there's a bootleg of the
- 37:39Speaker 3: whole show between him and Questlove when they were Briton
- 37:43Speaker 3: Bowl and you can literally hear me all over like
- 37:46Speaker 3: I've had people when it was on SoundCloud, people are
- 37:48Speaker 3: leaving comments like Yo, that's DJ Ben. I mean why
- 37:51Speaker 3: when he shut the fuck up type thing, because I
- 37:54Speaker 3: was just in there losing my mind, just you know,
- 37:59Speaker 3: to see that level of artistry, to see that level
- 38:03Speaker 3: of talent. You know, I was at the show he
- 38:05Speaker 3: did Afro Punk, where he did nothing but covers and
- 38:09Speaker 3: he brought Living Color out and people were mad as
- 38:12Speaker 3: hell him because he didn't do any of his own songs,
- 38:16Speaker 3: you know, but it was like that's just the type
- 38:18Speaker 3: of dude he was where it's like, now I'm just
- 38:20Speaker 3: going to come up here and do black music and
- 38:22Speaker 3: show you black music and not even do my own music.
- 38:26Speaker 3: And then I saw him at What's at Sony Hall
- 38:29Speaker 3: in Manhattan where he just right after Black Sida came out,
- 38:33Speaker 3: and he ran through everything, you know, all everything from
- 38:36Speaker 3: Black Messiah to all his hits, to covers to everything.
- 38:41Speaker 4: You know. It was just like, you know, this dude
- 38:42Speaker 4: is unreal, man.
- 38:45Speaker 3: Like something I learned yesterday, you know, to bring it
- 38:48Speaker 3: back around to for all nerds. And I didn't even
- 38:51Speaker 3: know that I'd never played Red Dead Redemption too. But
- 38:55Speaker 3: the Anflo has a song on there, Unshaken. Yeah, it's
- 38:58Speaker 3: down to fifteen bucks right now. I'm thinking I'm out
- 39:01Speaker 3: to buy it and go for it.
- 39:03Speaker 4: It's just such a damn long game.
- 39:04Speaker 1: But did you listen to watch that scene?
- 39:07Speaker 3: No?
- 39:07Speaker 4: I didn't want to watch the scene. I just listened
- 39:09Speaker 4: to the song.
- 39:10Speaker 1: The song.
- 39:11Speaker 3: The song is absolutely incredible, first of all, And it
- 39:16Speaker 3: was just bugged me that there are people out there
- 39:18Speaker 3: because I'm on Reddit and there are people who only
- 39:20Speaker 3: know him from that, like they know him from as
- 39:23Speaker 3: this dude who sings the song and read that Redemption too.
- 39:27Speaker 2: You know that's interesting because there's people who like got
- 39:30Speaker 2: put Onto, like Kendrick Lamark's a GTA.
- 39:32Speaker 4: I don't like it.
- 39:33Speaker 1: That's just a guy.
- 39:34Speaker 2: You know.
- 39:35Speaker 1: Back in the day I put on the.
- 39:36Speaker 4: Mad music through GCA, you know, even as a DJ.
- 39:39Speaker 3: I mean, I knew a lot of it, but there
- 39:40Speaker 3: would always be something I'm like, oh ship, you know,
- 39:42Speaker 3: look at that joint, you know, and I get put
- 39:44Speaker 3: onto it. And as much as I you know, don't
- 39:47Speaker 3: like all of James Dunn's taste, I you know, the
- 39:51Speaker 3: Peacemaker finale made me finally love that song that I
- 39:54Speaker 3: was trying to force on you this weekend.
- 39:57Speaker 2: This guy Ben I mean, was trying to force this
- 39:59Speaker 2: the the damn Peacemaker me and Joel Actually, yeah.
- 40:03Speaker 4: Well Joe already knows it.
- 40:04Speaker 2: Yeah, but you were still forcing on all us because
- 40:06Speaker 2: we both were looking at each other like, please not today, Papa,
- 40:09Speaker 2: we can't listen to this right now.
- 40:11Speaker 1: Like, I know you love it? Was it the intro song?
- 40:14Speaker 4: Yeah, it's the season two I know you love it,
- 40:17Speaker 4: but I.
- 40:18Speaker 3: Said, didn't love it. Yeah, I didn't love it till
- 40:21Speaker 3: all the finale. I hated it throughout all the season two,
- 40:25Speaker 3: and then the finale recontentualized them for me and maybe
- 40:28Speaker 3: love it okay, yeah, But that being said, the Unshaken
- 40:33Speaker 3: from The Red Dead Redemption two is an incredible song,
- 40:37Speaker 3: and it also is one of them songs that shows
- 40:39Speaker 3: you how talented this dude is because as a big
- 40:41Speaker 3: fanity intro, every really sounds a lot different. It's a
- 40:44Speaker 3: very bluesy guitar driven song and tone of voice he's
- 40:49Speaker 3: singing in is I guess it's more Devil's Pie type thing,
- 40:53Speaker 3: but because of Loes the guitar, it doesn't really feel
- 40:56Speaker 3: like Devil's Pie at all. So and it's you know,
- 40:59Speaker 3: he's got a much deeper tone to his voice than
- 41:01Speaker 3: what usually think of that falsetto when.
- 41:04Speaker 4: You think of the Angelo.
- 41:06Speaker 3: Oh oh yeah yeah.
- 41:09Speaker 4: But man like, I could go on forever a dog like.
- 41:15Speaker 4: It's just.
- 41:17Speaker 3: It just hurts, you know, like to have lost people
- 41:19Speaker 3: like Dyla, shot G, the' Angelo, just people who are
- 41:27Speaker 3: so instrumental in being like what.
- 41:30Speaker 4: I consider to be music, what I consider to be artists.
- 41:35Speaker 4: Man just the worst.
- 41:37Speaker 3: Man Like, it just like bothered me so much that like,
- 41:40Speaker 3: like I got to put a tribute to shot G
- 41:43Speaker 3: in Purple Hate, but it's like I didn't give a
- 41:45Speaker 3: direct tribute even though the book is a tribute to
- 41:48Speaker 3: all everyone. You know, it's like I should have somehow
- 41:52Speaker 3: fit something in for d Angelo.
- 41:53Speaker 6: You know.
- 41:54Speaker 2: That's look you've said it really earlier, like that that
- 41:59Speaker 2: river of music and all of that encompasses everything which
- 42:04Speaker 2: includes the angel by virtue of his legacy. So yeah,
- 42:08Speaker 2: didn't miss him. He's only that, just like you may
- 42:11Speaker 2: not specially said his name, but he's there. Michael's in there,
- 42:15Speaker 2: Prince is in there. You said Curtis Mayfield, like everything
- 42:18Speaker 2: that really truly encompasses music as a.
- 42:22Speaker 1: As a force, music as an art form.
- 42:25Speaker 2: All of those people who are responsible for that happening
- 42:29Speaker 2: are all part of that river. So I believe that
- 42:34Speaker 2: you included him, even if you don't realize that, you
- 42:36Speaker 2: definitely included him.
- 42:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 42:39Speaker 3: Now, it's just like I said. I know, when I
- 42:41Speaker 3: was writing it, me and Mella were talking about him
- 42:44Speaker 3: because we were talking about how much he was influenced
- 42:46Speaker 3: by being a Gypsy's And then even I remember recenting
- 42:50Speaker 3: somebody sent me a documentary and I was watching about
- 42:52Speaker 3: the making of Voodoo because it's just such a he's
- 42:58Speaker 3: just so different man like, and then I was talking
- 43:04Speaker 3: about this. I have like three mixtapes that I consider
- 43:07Speaker 3: like my you know, the mixtape for I just put
- 43:11Speaker 3: everything into them. All of them have Dangel on it.
- 43:13Speaker 3: Whenever I'm doing one of my major mixtapes, it's like
- 43:16Speaker 3: it's got to have a Dancel song on it. It
- 43:19Speaker 3: just you know, wouldn't feel right without it.
- 43:23Speaker 2: Oh man, Well, D'Angelo was very much loved all over
- 43:29Speaker 2: all over the world, and rest and power to him.
- 43:34Speaker 2: Resting power is his legacy which will continue to go on.
- 43:39Speaker 2: And you know, you just gotta you just got to
- 43:42Speaker 2: know that he still has left behind all of his
- 43:45Speaker 2: work and that that's never gonna die.
- 43:47Speaker 4: No.
- 43:48Speaker 3: No, I've been downloading and listening to everything I can
- 43:53Speaker 3: as much, you know, as much as I knew most
- 43:55Speaker 3: of everything I've heard about him, there's always more to
- 43:58Speaker 3: find that. Yeah, like I said, I never heard that
- 44:01Speaker 3: Unshaken song. I found some random stuff that him requests
- 44:04Speaker 3: loved did together that I got listened to some live joints.
- 44:08Speaker 4: There's a great live album.
- 44:09Speaker 3: I've been known about it, but there's a live album
- 44:11Speaker 3: from him from the Jazz Cafe in London where he does.
- 44:16Speaker 3: I've used the jam the shit all the time he
- 44:18Speaker 3: does earth Wind and Fires Can Hide Love and oh man,
- 44:21Speaker 3: he murders it. So go look that up on YouTube
- 44:24Speaker 3: or I think I think that's on streaming services now
- 44:28Speaker 3: because he destroys that, that whole lives that he does
- 44:31Speaker 3: al Green, he does a bunch of other joints and
- 44:33Speaker 3: then a bunch of his own stuff. I think her
- 44:37Speaker 3: is like one of the few other big, big artists
- 44:39Speaker 3: right now.
- 44:39Speaker 4: Who's playing and singing. You know, it's just so few.
- 44:44Speaker 1: Man, do you see Beyonce in that category of no.
- 44:48Speaker 3: I think Beyonce is one of the greatest of all time.
- 44:51Speaker 3: You know, I've said this many a time. You know,
- 44:52Speaker 3: I think you know when you you know, like in
- 44:55Speaker 3: that same you know, I put her out there with anybody,
- 44:59Speaker 3: you know, the Michaels, the Princes.
- 45:01Speaker 1: Yeah, she she's to.
- 45:02Speaker 2: Me, she's one of those last, like maybe the last
- 45:06Speaker 2: when it comes to the greats and those that level
- 45:08Speaker 2: of superstardom that is global, that is on a remote island,
- 45:14Speaker 2: people know who.
- 45:15Speaker 1: That person is type shit like that. That's that's how
- 45:17Speaker 1: Michael Jackson is to this day.
- 45:19Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I saw her.
- 45:20Speaker 1: People don't go to and they're like, yeah, I know
- 45:22Speaker 1: Michael Jackson.
- 45:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I saw in Ethiopia and I was in Ethiopia
- 45:25Speaker 3: when she did the you know Whole World and the
- 45:28Speaker 3: album drop drop, and it did because I was in
- 45:32Speaker 3: Ethiopia when she dropped Drunk in Love and everybody came
- 45:35Speaker 3: to the club that next night knowing every word to
- 45:38Speaker 3: that goddamn album and I ain't even had a chance
- 45:40Speaker 3: to listen to it yet.
- 45:44Speaker 4: That stopped the world when she dropped that out.
- 45:47Speaker 3: So yeah, and beyond that, like, I think her showmanship
- 45:51Speaker 3: and all that is that level the only thing. And
- 45:55Speaker 3: Prince told her about this and she played, you know,
- 45:57Speaker 3: she's learned to play certain stuff. Is like Prince was like,
- 46:00Speaker 3: you got to learn to play, you know, like to
- 46:02Speaker 3: really be that that, you gotta be able to play,
- 46:06Speaker 3: you know. And that's something that I even struggle with.
- 46:09Speaker 3: I don't play like that, and it's like I need
- 46:10Speaker 3: to learn to play better because you know, it's like
- 46:13Speaker 3: that's where it comes from, you know, like it's just
- 46:17Speaker 3: oh man, and yeah, it's just not like we have.
- 46:22Speaker 3: There's a lot of smaller artists who are like that,
- 46:24Speaker 3: but on a large scale, it's very rare now where
- 46:28Speaker 3: before it was so many. You know, pretty much everybody
- 46:32Speaker 3: played some type of instrument and now it's yeh yeah,
- 46:38Speaker 3: and now it's like people are just singing ship and
- 46:41Speaker 3: barely do that.
- 46:44Speaker 4: Well.
- 46:44Speaker 3: I saw an Usher struggle through his ship. It was entertaining.
- 46:48Speaker 3: It was like the Hill movie.
- 46:51Speaker 5: We're not going to talk about Usher.
- 46:53Speaker 1: That's what we're not going to do today.
- 46:55Speaker 4: No, I know, and I think I know.
- 46:56Speaker 3: When Usher is on his game, he is like up there, Beyonce,
- 46:59Speaker 3: my call all that.
- 47:00Speaker 4: You know.
- 47:01Speaker 3: When I saw him, it was like, you know, a
- 47:04Speaker 3: three year tour and that man, you know, that man
- 47:06Speaker 3: was showing like yo, it's time to you know, I
- 47:08Speaker 3: need a break, dog like you know, I mean, I
- 47:12Speaker 3: did Vegas for two years and then y'all put me
- 47:14Speaker 3: on the road, like.
- 47:16Speaker 1: Hain't no, y'all. He put himself on the road.
- 47:18Speaker 3: That man's ado. That's another thing that I realized that night.
- 47:23Speaker 3: That man is like the evil Peter Pan.
- 47:25Speaker 4: What he ain't never growing up?
- 47:29Speaker 1: I mean, he had no no, it's like a forever bachelor,
- 47:32Speaker 1: even though he's married now, but he isn't well married again,
- 47:35Speaker 1: but he's a forever bachelor.
- 47:36Speaker 3: And not even for bachelor. It's like he is forever
- 47:39Speaker 3: the age when he was discovered fourteen, you know, because.
- 47:42Speaker 1: You know why, right, it's a darker reason for that.
- 47:45Speaker 4: And that's that.
- 47:48Speaker 1: Yeah, that's why I said we're not going to talk
- 47:50Speaker 1: about Yeah, he's been through some things.
- 47:53Speaker 7: Yeah yeah, oh man, oh man. Yeah yeah.
- 48:03Speaker 3: I'm really trying to figure out how to segue to
- 48:06Speaker 3: the next topic. Now, we just avoided talk about one
- 48:13Speaker 3: sex pest, and now we're talking about another.
- 48:15Speaker 6: So yeah, Jaredleto ruins everything apparently, also just ruins every
- 48:26Speaker 6: day apparently.
- 48:28Speaker 2: Now, first of all, to be clear, like when we
- 48:30Speaker 2: we reviewed Tron last week, we said it was a movie, right,
- 48:34Speaker 2: I still gave it a tomato. I just thought that
- 48:38Speaker 2: it was like, it was entertaining, and.
- 48:40Speaker 1: It looked really good.
- 48:41Speaker 2: Aesthetics are incredible effects. The music's really good too, And
- 48:46Speaker 2: that's about it. There's no substance, right, no buttocks and
- 48:50Speaker 2: and and Jody Tony Smith is amazing because I just
- 48:53Speaker 2: I just like her aesthetic, I like how I like energy.
- 48:57Speaker 2: I like the female terminator part of her great in
- 49:00Speaker 2: the movie. Besides that, nothing there and because that there's
- 49:05Speaker 2: and I really blamed Jarrett the movie allegedly made less
- 49:11Speaker 2: than in this opening weekend, then mobius morbus excuse me,
- 49:15Speaker 2: So that saying a lot because Morbus flopped under the jail,
- 49:22Speaker 2: So this shit flopped hard body like.
- 49:28Speaker 1: Under the prison. Like I don't know. I don't not again,
- 49:32Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 49:33Speaker 2: Like, first of all, there was nothing against it the
- 49:36Speaker 2: weekend it dropped. As far as I knew, there was
- 49:38Speaker 2: no real competing film against it, which why we was
- 49:43Speaker 2: was confusing to me because I remember when we left
- 49:45Speaker 2: the movie, THEYD realized there was nothing else dropping that weekend,
- 49:47Speaker 2: so we were like, Oh, it's gonna make money because
- 49:49Speaker 2: there's nothing else to see.
- 49:51Speaker 1: That was wrong Jared Lido. No, No, it's potentially box
- 49:57Speaker 1: of office nuclear waste.
- 50:00Speaker 3: I mean that goes without saying like the idea that
- 50:03Speaker 3: he was ever a star has never been established, you
- 50:06Speaker 3: know what I mean? Or like someone said, the dude
- 50:09Speaker 3: looks weird. He's stars and box office bombs and he
- 50:13Speaker 3: can't act, and yet studios just keep doing it. And
- 50:17Speaker 3: he also produced this joint, which is one of the
- 50:20Speaker 3: reasons why I got made and why people were saying
- 50:24Speaker 3: that his character went from a villain in versions of
- 50:28Speaker 3: the script to more you know, where he turns into
- 50:31Speaker 3: the hero and goes on this whole hero liable. Also, yeah,
- 50:35Speaker 3: and it was also that was more Jeredlito. And that's
- 50:38Speaker 3: why like the original, well not the original, but the dudes,
- 50:41Speaker 3: because you know what's Olivia Wilde was in the last
- 50:43Speaker 3: one and she's not in this and that's so, you know,
- 50:47Speaker 3: I mean, I would have rather seen him.
- 50:48Speaker 1: I didn't watch.
- 50:49Speaker 4: I didn't either. I didn't.
- 50:50Speaker 3: I'm you know, I'm saying this from you know, people
- 50:52Speaker 3: saying on the internet. Yeah, but Olivia Wilde and the
- 50:55Speaker 3: other dude, the main dude is he's a much bigger
- 50:59Speaker 3: star as well. Now, so I don't know his name,
- 51:01Speaker 3: you know, which may from a legacy random white boys.
- 51:04Speaker 1: Oh, oh, the one that they can't make the movie
- 51:06Speaker 1: off of No More. I don't know.
- 51:07Speaker 2: It's just I don't know, but they and they tried
- 51:11Speaker 2: real hard and like again maybe this is Jared's fault,
- 51:13Speaker 2: but they tried real hard to like they inserted enough
- 51:16Speaker 2: of the entire Tron universe to try to make aries
- 51:19Speaker 2: fit this film a fit, which it did. But then
- 51:23Speaker 2: they try to force the good old Oh, we're gonna
- 51:25Speaker 2: make a sequel.
- 51:26Speaker 1: Like they Tron may never see the light of day.
- 51:30Speaker 4: No, it's decade.
- 51:32Speaker 3: No, it's not going to happen in general, I don't
- 51:34Speaker 3: think it's going to happen in the next twenty years.
- 51:37Speaker 2: M no, no, no, no, They'll happen the next one years because.
- 51:41Speaker 3: Money, Yeah, someone will come along and think they can
- 51:43Speaker 3: make it work, even though Tron has never made money.
- 51:47Speaker 3: And this is the thing. It's like, as a kid,
- 51:50Speaker 3: who was you know there for Tron, It's not ever
- 51:53Speaker 3: been anything where I was like, oh, I can't wait
- 51:55Speaker 3: for the sequel to this movie. It was just like, yeah,
- 51:58Speaker 3: all right, that was cool. It's it's just like there's
- 52:01Speaker 3: there was a lot of movies back then that thankfully
- 52:04Speaker 3: they haven't done in like never any story. You know,
- 52:06Speaker 3: there's I think they did straight to VHS or something,
- 52:09Speaker 3: but I never saw them joints. But you know, it's
- 52:12Speaker 3: like that was a movie. I never needed to see
- 52:14Speaker 3: a sequel to The Last star Fighter. There's a bunch
- 52:20Speaker 3: of great eighties joints that just never got sequels, and
- 52:23Speaker 3: thankfully and Tron should have been one of them.
- 52:26Speaker 4: You know, like straight up.
- 52:28Speaker 1: I just it's a cool idea, but poor I.
- 52:31Speaker 3: Just never understood, Like I'm when trom Legacy came out,
- 52:34Speaker 3: That's why I never saw it because I was just
- 52:36Speaker 3: uninterested and I was one of the people who should
- 52:39Speaker 3: have been interested did not care. You know, I got
- 52:42Speaker 3: in free, and you know, we got to review it.
- 52:44Speaker 4: So that's why I went.
- 52:44Speaker 3: I saw it otherwise, ain't no way because Jared Leedo
- 52:48Speaker 3: and tromp echo.
- 52:50Speaker 2: But I said last week it was much better than
- 52:53Speaker 2: I expected.
- 52:55Speaker 4: It was about what I expected.
- 52:56Speaker 1: It is what I because I didn't expect. I didn't
- 52:58Speaker 1: expect nothing I expect. I was like, this ain't going nowhere,
- 53:02Speaker 1: but it was.
- 53:03Speaker 4: I knew it.
- 53:03Speaker 3: I was hoping it would look good. I figured that
- 53:06Speaker 3: they you know, that was the reason it existed, and.
- 53:09Speaker 1: It got that in spades.
- 53:10Speaker 2: It looks like there's there's there's nothing that probably looks
- 53:12Speaker 2: better than that this year, just in terms of effects.
- 53:15Speaker 4: Honest with you, no, I did it that, but but yeah,
- 53:20Speaker 4: that's me.
- 53:21Speaker 3: I expected nothing else and I got nothing else.
- 53:24Speaker 4: So it wasn't like my expectations were pretty much met.
- 53:27Speaker 4: I was whelmed.
- 53:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I was very whelmed because I knew exactly what
- 53:32Speaker 3: I was getting, A terrible movie with perhaps.
- 53:36Speaker 4: Some it looked good.
- 53:37Speaker 3: It looked good in a treiler, so I was like, Okay,
- 53:38Speaker 3: it's probably look good in the theater, and it did.
- 53:41Speaker 3: You know what doesn't look good is AI. Shout out
- 53:45Speaker 3: to my brother Young Guru, and shout out to another brother,
- 53:47Speaker 3: one of my brothers, Lance, another Howard University alumni and
- 53:53Speaker 3: Lance Gross No No, Lance Williams.
- 53:56Speaker 4: Lance made a.
- 54:00Speaker 3: Sore video this week of a little cartoon joint big
- 54:04Speaker 3: Enough Powered, and it was like a Howard recruitment type video,
- 54:07Speaker 3: and he was basically saying, this is like, you know,
- 54:09Speaker 3: a treatment or an imagination of what a Howard cartoon
- 54:13Speaker 3: could look like. And I was just like, yo, man,
- 54:16Speaker 3: I'm really saddened to see you using Soler or any
- 54:21Speaker 3: AI creator and you know, posting these videos when I
- 54:24Speaker 3: just feel that it's just adding to the general slop
- 54:27Speaker 3: of AI, and I feel as black people, we should do.
- 54:31Speaker 4: Better, you know.
- 54:32Speaker 3: To be honest, I just I've yet to see any
- 54:36Speaker 3: AI use of any creation for anything be good or
- 54:42Speaker 3: useful or anything worthwhile considering the damage environmentally, considering the
- 54:49Speaker 3: legal ramifications of it, considering the fact that you're using
- 54:54Speaker 3: other people's work to train AI models, which are basically,
- 55:00Speaker 3: as I told Lance, copy and pasting on a large scale,
- 55:03Speaker 3: that's all it will ever be. It will never be intelligent.
- 55:07Speaker 3: We don't understand how intelligence worse than human being? So
- 55:10Speaker 3: how could we ever created a machine like we don't
- 55:13Speaker 3: understand our thought. We don't understand any of that stuff,
- 55:16Speaker 3: and we probably won't ever at the rate we're going,
- 55:20Speaker 3: you know, the way we're looking for it, So we'll
- 55:22Speaker 3: never be to creative machines. And all AI is is
- 55:27Speaker 3: what the proper term is a learning module, because it's
- 55:30Speaker 3: going to copy and paste on a very large scale.
- 55:33Speaker 3: And Lance was telling me that, oh, if you think
- 55:35Speaker 3: it's just propping and pasting, then you don't know what
- 55:37Speaker 3: And I'm like, Lance, No, it's it's propping and pasting.
- 55:40Speaker 3: It will always be copying and pasting. It's doing it
- 55:42Speaker 3: on a large scale. Yes, it's searching every available art.
- 55:46Speaker 3: If you're saying, give me a cartoon about black kids
- 55:49Speaker 3: at Howard, it's searching every available cartoon about black kids,
- 55:52Speaker 3: and then it's copying and pasting them together to create
- 55:55Speaker 3: a fasten all of it. And that's all it will ever.
- 55:57Speaker 1: Do, and which is why it also shoot me AI
- 56:00Speaker 1: because yeah.
- 56:01Speaker 3: And and then people get confused, and that's why people,
- 56:04Speaker 3: you know, they start talking to chat GBT and thinking
- 56:06Speaker 3: it's a person and all this insanity.
- 56:09Speaker 2: That that's you know, that's on another thing. That's that's
- 56:13Speaker 2: that is a personal issue. And yes, these things, these
- 56:17Speaker 2: models approximate people and responses.
- 56:20Speaker 1: And things like that, but that that is on.
- 56:22Speaker 2: A mental area, that's a mental lapse in many ways
- 56:30Speaker 2: and shapes and forms that. That's that goes above jess Oh,
- 56:32Speaker 2: I'm talking to chat GPT. It's it's something else going
- 56:36Speaker 2: on with people to listen to it to that much.
- 56:39Speaker 3: To that, Like I saw the creator of one of
- 56:44Speaker 3: these things coming out today and saying you shouldn't outsource
- 56:47Speaker 3: your thinking. Yep, and that is like, it's it's so
- 56:52Speaker 3: crazy to me because but I've seen it, you know,
- 56:55Speaker 3: I've seen people like again, you know, Lance is someone
- 56:58Speaker 3: I went to school with. He's my age, and it's
- 57:01Speaker 3: it's interesting to me to even see people my age,
- 57:04Speaker 3: you know, turning to chat GPT.
- 57:06Speaker 1: Why is that interesting because it's just something well use
- 57:10Speaker 1: mean it in a derogatory Why is that the case?
- 57:12Speaker 4: Yeah, because you're using something else to think for you.
- 57:16Speaker 2: Maybe they don't see it that way. And I'm playing
- 57:18Speaker 2: I'm playing.
- 57:19Speaker 3: No, no, no, I know, I get it, And that's
- 57:21Speaker 3: what I'm saying. This is this was the argument I
- 57:23Speaker 3: was having with Lance. I'm like Lance, when you someone
- 57:26Speaker 3: I consider to be an intelligent, well read, well known brother.
- 57:31Speaker 3: He worked at rock Star Games. You know, he works
- 57:33Speaker 3: in different fields. When you're using this, you're normalizing, and
- 57:39Speaker 3: you know, you have a bunch of people in your
- 57:40Speaker 3: comments like, oh, look, how dope this is? Can you
- 57:42Speaker 3: show me how to do this?
- 57:43Speaker 4: And all this? And I'm like Lance.
- 57:45Speaker 3: The at one point in this cartoon, the little girl
- 57:48Speaker 3: is sitting and she's the professor with the chalkboard is
- 57:52Speaker 3: behind her, and he has five arms and people are
- 57:57Speaker 3: just but because you're someone with taste, to discernment and
- 58:01Speaker 3: a voice, you're normalizing this and that goes with on
- 58:06Speaker 3: a larger scale once it get just like, hey, I
- 58:08Speaker 3: all these other people normalizing it?
- 58:11Speaker 4: What's the name? Using soa.
- 58:13Speaker 3: The white boy and letting his image be used for it,
- 58:18Speaker 3: the guy the Fate Fighter. I erase those people from
- 58:24Speaker 3: my memory as much as I can. Yeah, but you
- 58:27Speaker 3: know what I'm talking about, Yes, the blind boxer, Yeah,
- 58:30Speaker 3: and he used he let his likeness be used on
- 58:32Speaker 3: sorow so you can create videos of him doing whatever.
- 58:36Speaker 3: Paul J Paul and so so it's being normalized. There
- 58:41Speaker 3: and to see black people normalize it is where I
- 58:45Speaker 3: really start worrying. And Lance is making argument like he said,
- 58:49Speaker 3: Grew said this. I haven't talked to Grow about it,
- 58:51Speaker 3: but he's like Brew is like basically the mindset where it's.
- 58:54Speaker 4: Not going anywhere. I don't know that.
- 58:56Speaker 3: I think the AI bubble is going to burst and
- 58:58Speaker 3: it is going to go somewhere. But I also get
- 59:01Speaker 3: where he's saying, where it's not going anywhere and we
- 59:03Speaker 3: have to be discerning with it, et cetera. But I
- 59:05Speaker 3: don't mean I don't think that means we need to
- 59:08Speaker 3: use it.
- 59:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think it's going anywhere, And I agree
- 59:14Speaker 2: with both statements. I don't think it's going where. And
- 59:16Speaker 2: I also don't think people need to use it. And
- 59:20Speaker 2: over the years, I say famously, but I've famously become
- 59:23Speaker 2: very anti AI. And this is really anticicist to me
- 59:26Speaker 2: as a tech person. Yeah, because of all the points
- 59:29Speaker 2: you've mentioned, but also when we talk about there and
- 59:33Speaker 2: one of the reasons why people continuously use it and
- 59:35Speaker 2: they don't know the implications of AI and a lot
- 59:39Speaker 2: of times when they do, it's just a concept rather
- 59:43Speaker 2: than something real to them, Like what's the truth is
- 59:48Speaker 2: AI is incredibly harmful to the environment. I'm not saying
- 59:52Speaker 2: this is a tree hugger. I'm saying this as literally
- 59:56Speaker 2: one gets put up in your town, you will lose
- 59:59Speaker 2: Act says to clean water fast because one of the
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: things that AI use is because it all.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: Of these CPUs and machines.
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: And they're emitting all this heat and energy you need
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: they need to be cooled down somehow, and that is
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: usually they usually turn to the water sources in whatever
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: town or locale that the AI data center is in. Literally,
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: you will bleed dry a whole town of people in
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: order to allow this data center to run. And it
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: gets me chills, like the matrix type shit, whereas like
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: you got so much, like the computers are taken over
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: so much that the earth is covered completely covered in
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: tubes and ducks and wires and electricity, and there's no
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: fucking grass, there's no fucking atmosphere, there's no fucking nothing.
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: And that is like the most insane view of it.
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: But I'm like, this is literally what it could potentially go.
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: And again, as I'm saying, is I may say this
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: is some and they just say, oh, well, conceptually that
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: sounds bad, but it's like, what does that mean to me? Well,
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: when they build one in your town and you can't
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: get clean water out of your faucet, and it's emitting
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: radioactive waste and not just video had to waste, but
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: but but it's polluting your streams and it's emitting so
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: much carbon dioxide in the air that you start getting
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: sick and developing cancers and all other stuff. And it's
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: not until that happens, it's not until your people's die
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: that you're like, oh, maybe that AI wasn't so cool.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: And it's because of the normalization.
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: It's because it's made to seem so innocuous, like oh,
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: I'm using sword to do a cartoon, Like, No, every
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: time you run a prompt, do you know how much
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: water's been taking it? I don't have the metrics in
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: front of me, so I'm not even gonna just give
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: you a number, but it's massive. Every time you run
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: a promp Do you know how much carbon dioxide is
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: is emitted? Do you know how much rare earth materials
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: is required?
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: Do you know how how polluting that is? Do you
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: know how fucked up it is?
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: And the part to bring it to connected to what
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: you said about black people. This is directly it's connected
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: to environmental racism. They don't build these data centers next
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: to a bunch of white people, affluent white people anyway,
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: because you know they're doing the same thing the poor
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: white people. They are building this next to poor people,
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: next to marginalized people, next to people that because of
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: everything else that's going on in this country, they're trying
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: to take away all sorts of rights. So you have
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: a situation where your voting rights are being taken away,
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: all these different rights as a citizens are being taken away,
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: and they have a data center that is taken away
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: that you don't have freedom to water right, And I
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: don't think people are understanding the implications on that degree,
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: either understanding or even.
- 1:02:55Speaker 4: Knowing or even caring.
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: And then sometimes you don't care, and I get it,
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: like I'm not gonna I'm I'm not going to be
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: holier than now, Like, well, you should know better because
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: I do things, all of us do things every day
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: that hey, this ship is contributing to the detriment of
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: your planet. Yeah, but there are some things that you
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: can also stop fucking know, the detriment of planting, the
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: detriment of your people for sure, like capitalism, right, but
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: there are certain things that you do not have to do,
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: and you do not have to use sword to make
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: a cartoon about Homecoming or about.
- 1:03:27Speaker 4: Howard in general and just about anything. I just it's like, well,
- 1:03:33Speaker 4: I'm just sure. I'm not a fan.
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: No, I'm not a fan. And it's like the idea
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: that I'm just showing proof of concept and all this.
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: You can hire artists if you want to do that,
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: if you seriously want to do that.
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: That's not fast enough, it's not easy enough.
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: One of the last things Lance said to me to
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: really upset me, in fact, is he's like, well, this
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: is showing that you know, you or anyone else to
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: do this. And I'm like, Lance, I wrote a graphic
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: novel and a children's book, and you know you're over
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: here posting videos about you know so, and you're saying
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: that this isn't taken away from artists.
- 1:04:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: And I think that's the pretense where it trips up
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: a lot of people, because I understand that sentiment, because
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: I actually while I was away in France, i posted
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: some comments about AI and I said I want to
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: argue with people and not you know, I said what
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: more about what I just said to you about AI,
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: And it's inplication why I don't like it and why
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: I feel like it's not truly creative. It's nothing creative
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: about it that's approximates what they think is a human
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: with it, which is why it's still fill with buks.
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: And there are certain things like Sora, which they've they've
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: iron out a lot of the kinks where now it's
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: kind of it's getting to the point or it is
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: at the point where a lot of this shit is
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: in the string, indistinctuible from real life except for if
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: you're really looking for the flaws.
- 1:04:50Speaker 4: But it never feels.
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: But it never feels quite right.
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: But my thing is it's been normalized so bad so
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: much that like while I see like people say there's
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: some benefits to it, like it helps you, like if
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: that's to Catch twenty two. There's people, for example, there's
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: creators who may use it and they say, oh, it
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: helps me jog my creativity. Like I'll put some I
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: put four words down about something I'm thinking about, and
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: it says, have you thought about it in this way?
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: Okay, fine, no, no, no, let me finish.
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: Okay, fine, you feel it's helpful to you to somebody, right,
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: you feel it's helpful to you in that way, But
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: what are the implications of you doing that? Yeah, you
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: mentioned it before where you said like you're outsourcing your thinking,
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: because that's what that's doing.
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: You're outsourcing thinking, and that's what I mean.
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: And I'm like, this is this is where the hurdle
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: comes where people are like, well, I'm not using it
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: to completely create.
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: I'm just using it to help. And I'm just like,
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: but at what cost?
- 1:05:46Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:05:46Speaker 4: What costs?
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: It's like like, like I just said, talk to somebody,
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: you know, that's how writer's rooms works, That's how things
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: are creating.
- 1:05:53Speaker 4: Me and Mellow talked through hindreds.
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: You know, if I had an idea that Mellow couldn't
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: figured it out, I ask somebody else about it.
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: But the argument is easier said than done, Ben.
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: The argument will always be just like how your friend
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: told you, Oh, well, this kid, lets you know that
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: you do it because he's not gonna do the work
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: or the time, or the energy or the money to
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: find somebody.
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: And again, this is not finger pointing, This is not wholy. Now.
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: I'm just saying the reality, Yeah, do that, which takes
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: two weeks, a month whatever, or jump on sorera in
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: thirty seconds. You get your output, yep, right, And that's
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: like and that's not just just completely, that's not just
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: beholden to AI. That's damn near a lot of things
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: in life. Right, Well, shit, I can still get what
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: I get something if I just do it this way.
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: It's free to me versus putting all this other work.
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: And I guess that you could say that's what separates
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: artists from consumers. Artists might sit there and be like, well, shit,
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: it's gonna take me two years or sow this sweater.
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: But I'm gonna do it.
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: I'm not gonna take no shortcuts because in that it's
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: important to me M And there's other people going to
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: be like, well, you know I want this help three
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: not even because if you don't even, Yeah, that's that's
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: a whole nother situation. But it's not AI because at
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: the end of the day, someone built the model to
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: create that three D image or that three D thing,
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: right Like, someone actually drew the CAD drawings to say, hey, print.
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: Out a phone or whatever the fuck it is, right, Like, that's.
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: Different to just as you say, just completely have this
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: machine because it's not even a it's not a person,
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: place or thing.
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: It's a thing. It's a thing.
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: It's not it has no life right to give this thing,
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: this your idea and to say create when all it's
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: doing is copying.
- 1:07:40Speaker 4: And that's the thing.
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: It's like, I would love to envision a date because
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: I know even Guru was talking about logic, the music production,
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: the digital the doll is going to have. He said
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: he's seen the next version of it and he's like, yo,
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: it just I haven't had a conversation with him about it.
- 1:07:58Speaker 4: That it will change the way.
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: Music for duction is done forever, and so that sounds
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: interesting to me, you know if I can, but I
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: just don't. Yeah that See that's the other side of it.
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: I like there's certain stuff even in music production now
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: where I've been using I guess you could be considered
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: AI like it'll generate a pattern and then I'll chop
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: that pattern up.
- 1:08:25Speaker 4: So it's you know that.
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: But see that goes back to the argument that I
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: said to you earlierhere where they said creators say.
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: It's useful, yeah, and that helps.
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: So now it's just like, okay, you hate it, but
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: you also used it.
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: No, And then that's the other side of it, Like
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: I would love to imagine a day where I can
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: be like, okay, computer, make me this cartoon or make
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: me this movie.
- 1:08:48Speaker 4: But there and this is the huge butt there.
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: I don't ever see that day happening, because there's never
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: gonna be a day where I can say, hey, computer,
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: write me Jimmy Hendrix Purple Hayes, because it won't because
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: it can't, because it's not gonna say been would you
- 1:09:11Speaker 3: like a character named backgash contest who has a bowling
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: ball head. Things like that are only gonna come from
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: like the dumbaka only came from me saying I want
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: a dragon in this book, and Mellow saying you can't
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: use dragons, because then anyone can do dragons create something new,
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: And so we created a dumbaca.
- 1:09:35Speaker 4: And that's that. It's that little.
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: It's the graininess of everything of creation that I don't
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: ever see. Sure I can tell it, write me Jimmy Hendrix,
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: Purple Hayes a sequel to it, And because Purple Hayes
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: is already out, it can take a lot of the
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: elements to it and probably come up with a sequel.
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: But I again, that's not it, you know.
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: And that's where it's like I can take somewhere someone
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: gives me if because basically what I said is like
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: the thing is giving me a sample, and then I
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: chop the sample up because to me, I don't give
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: a damn where I get the sample from. I chop
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: it up and it becomes my thing. But I can't
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: ever imagine a day where I say, make me.
- 1:10:18Speaker 4: A house song. How I don't know.
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: Maybe it's just I can't figure how to describe it,
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: you know, maybe I don't know prompts like that, you know,
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: write me a deep out song.
- 1:10:27Speaker 4: That has none of the elements that have never been
- 1:10:30Speaker 4: done before.
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: Well, even that is not a good prompt because it's like,
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: what are you talking about?
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: But again, there is no prompt that you can't tell something,
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: do me something that's never You can't.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: Because it doesn't create take this.
- 1:10:44Speaker 4: Sample and chop it up in a way that I
- 1:10:46Speaker 4: would do it.
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: That's because it's not a human and sing.
- 1:10:51Speaker 3: I can tell to chop up a sample like Dyla
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: would do it. But Dyla, even though he does have
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: a very specific touch that people imitate, now if he
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: was alive to do it, would do it differently, Yeah.
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: But it will still approximate as best as it can
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: based on all the stolen data.
- 1:11:08Speaker 3: Yeah, but it's not gonna be Dilla or it's not
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: gonna be the next person. It's not gonna be me
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: because I don't have enough material out there to approximate
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: what I'm doing. And I'm just doing it, you know,
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: bits and pieces of whatever other people doing and you know,
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: expanding in my own way. But it's that expansion and
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: it's that growth, it's that humanity. I just don't ever
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: see that working. Like I don't.
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: I would, like I said, I would love it.
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: I would love if I could be like, yo, make
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: me this dope ass cartoon, you know of Jimmy Hendricks proprieties.
- 1:11:40Speaker 4: But then I'm stealing Mandreates hard, like immediately, that's immediately.
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: There's the only way to do that is to take
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: Mandreates hard and you know, make an approximization of a
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: way it looked like animated at.
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: The end of the day.
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: The reason why we're in this mess as we are now,
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: the wild wild West of it is because there are
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: no regulations in the US. The it It's kind of
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: like how like when the Internet first came, it was
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: like Wow, Wow West type shit, like, yeah.
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: There is there's no real regulation.
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: That's I think that above everything messes with me the most.
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: Forget to forget the technology.
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: It's so like technology yourself, unless you're doing something specifically,
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: it's just there without any type of guardrails, without any
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: type of as mentioned regulation or governance. Like the scariest
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: things can be done with it, and like especially things
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: like sore, like it could take one of our like
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: someone could put one a lot of licenses in there
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: and have us doing some some wild shit. H And
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: I have no at least they claim, like I guess
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: now you have a little bit more control, but I
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: have no necessarily.
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: Control over that.
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: Yeah, but I need the regulation at the end of
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: the day, Like this shit needs to be highly highly regulated.
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: And again because of how everything's tracking right now in
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: this country and the way things are not going to
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: prolificness of AI quote, that's why Guru's right that it's
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: not going anywhere.
- 1:13:03Speaker 4: No, I get that as well.
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: I think the bubble will burst on this idea that
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: people can make money from it. Well, we'll stop seeing
- 1:13:08Speaker 3: these dumb ass commercials and all that type of stuff constantly.
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: But no, the technology is here, so it's not going
- 1:13:14Speaker 3: to vanish, you know, overnight. No, it's done to stay.
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: And that is why I had such a problem with
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: people who are who should be smart enough to know.
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: And I'm not gonna keep calling Lamps out, but I'm
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: gonna say this again because he's used the same argument
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: that another friend of mine. I will say their name
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: as well, sy My man Cyrus used the same argument
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: when I called them out on using AI months ago
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: and they said, I remember when people said the same
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: thing about sampling, and I wanted to slap both of
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: them motherfuckers honestly, because I was different.
- 1:13:50Speaker 4: Yeah, it's it's it's it's the same.
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: It's like saying what Timberland was doing when Timblan was
- 1:13:54Speaker 3: making great music versus what Timberland is doing now. No,
- 1:13:58Speaker 3: Timbland is a genius who made great music at one time,
- 1:14:02Speaker 3: and now this motherfucker's hawking AI.
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: Signing AI artists like that is an oxymoron.
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: There is no such as an AI artist.
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: No, And it's the same exact thing where it's like
- 1:14:13Speaker 3: you cannot compare sampling one of the greatest inventions, like
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: done through them yeah, done through the mastery of blackness again,
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: through like magical levels of thinking to this bullshit.
- 1:14:28Speaker 4: You know, that's like it was.
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: It was so disgusting to see a hip hopper, you know,
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: someone who grew up on it the same way to
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: compare like what was we created the art of sampling
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: because music was taken out of schools, because it was
- 1:14:43Speaker 3: restricted from us because we didn't have We couldn't learn
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: to play in schools anymore and take instrumentation to the
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: next level like black people had always done. So we
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: took something that didn't even exist and made it to
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: the nets level. Like the amount of genius that people
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: like DJ Premier, Dell up Heat, Rock Shot g any
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: of these producers are hm and you're comparing her to
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: this bullshit slot.
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: That shit will never be hip hop, that shit will
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: never be dope. It distrusted me.
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: I'm sorry, Like you know, it's like it's like when
- 1:15:20Speaker 3: people talk about the podcaster, I feel, you know, you
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: don't need to put their words, you know, certain people's
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: words and context when they die. Like hip hop was
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: genius from its inception. It wasn't like oh, one day
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: just saying this, you know, AI will turn into something good.
- 1:15:36Speaker 3: No hip hop was genius from its inception. Fuck out
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: of here, sorry, and no no notice spread lands inside,
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: but fuck out here with that bullshit.
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: Yeah mm hmm, well I already know who's getting enslaved
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: by the AI first, all of us.
- 1:15:53Speaker 4: We all, we all take it.
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: I mean the man that also said you know in
- 1:15:56Speaker 3: his same argument's talking about because I brought it. I've
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: been need to make a post about this, a video
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: about this. It's the famous well it's not even famous
- 1:16:03Speaker 3: for people don't know it and they should know it.
- 1:16:05Speaker 3: There's an Avengers traument that I've read when I was
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: growing up where they battled this character named the super
- 1:16:09Speaker 3: adapto It and super Adaptoid, like his name, can adapt.
- 1:16:12Speaker 4: Anyone he meets.
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: He can gain their powers immediately, so by the end
- 1:16:16Speaker 3: of it, he's got the powers of all the Avengers
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: and even more. I think he adapts the Cosmic Cube,
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: you know, the testa rat. So my man is just
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: universal power level at the end, and he's creating clones
- 1:16:29Speaker 3: of himself to adapt every person on the planet so
- 1:16:32Speaker 3: he can replace every person on the planet. And Captain
- 1:16:35Speaker 3: America gets to him, it's like, all right, but then
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: what and that's where he's stuck because he can't imagine shit.
- 1:16:42Speaker 4: All he can do is copy and paste.
- 1:16:44Speaker 3: And eventually Captain America convinces him to kill himself by saying,
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: you know, well you don't know what death is, why
- 1:16:50Speaker 3: don't you try that out?
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: He's to kill yourself.
- 1:16:56Speaker 3: And it worked, and that part is kind of crazy,
- 1:16:59Speaker 3: but it was just you know, and I brought this
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: up to Lance. I'm like, this is the same thing
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: that AI is. And so then Lance countered with, well,
- 1:17:05Speaker 3: what about Terminator or the Sentinels. Then they eventually learned
- 1:17:09Speaker 3: and I'm like, this brought up the ship that tried
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: to kill off.
- 1:17:13Speaker 4: Humanity and be like I did it.
- 1:17:15Speaker 3: It eventually learn Like again, when something is genius and
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: something is great, it is from the inception.
- 1:17:23Speaker 4: You know, anything black people created genius from the gate.
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: It didn't have to be put in context anything the
- 1:17:30Speaker 3: other side is created.
- 1:17:32Speaker 4: Uh, you know, we gotta check on it.
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: I'm sorry, it's sad but true.
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: That's a good ending.
- 1:17:50Speaker 4: God damn, it's the racist as hell, but also.
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: So real, Like you said, the other side, so that
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: could be anybody.
- 1:17:59Speaker 4: Yeah, but it is.
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: You know, it is like anything white people create, you
- 1:18:02Speaker 3: have to really check on it, and that's fucked up.
- 1:18:04Speaker 4: But it's like, you know, what have they done? What's up? Y'all?
- 1:18:12Speaker 4: Thank you for watching that video that you just watch.
