- 0:07Speaker 1: This podcast.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome to Meat Eater Trivia, the only game show where
- 0:12Speaker 2: conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer new Arthan. Today
- 0:16Speaker 2: we're joined by Jannis Brody, Randall, Corey Nate, and Logan Williamson. Logan,
- 0:21Speaker 2: when you're in town, that means there's something happening with
- 0:23Speaker 2: First Light? What is happening with First Light?
- 0:26Speaker 3: We are just trying to get ready for the new year,
- 0:29Speaker 3: specifically getting prep for Nashville and WTF. I believe a
- 0:32Speaker 3: couple of you folks will be joining us down there,
- 0:34Speaker 3: but be our second year down there at the convention,
- 0:37Speaker 3: and I mean it.
- 0:38Speaker 4: Was awesome last year.
- 0:39Speaker 3: The foot traffic was unbelievable, and I think just the
- 0:42Speaker 3: quality of folks down there. I mean there's have never
- 0:45Speaker 3: been to a trade show with nicer people walking and
- 0:48Speaker 3: walking through the booth.
- 0:48Speaker 2: So I think we all came home with brave reviews
- 0:51Speaker 2: of NWTF and Nashville. Yanni, you loved it down there, right.
- 0:54Speaker 4: I like listening to a turkey call som hm.
- 0:58Speaker 2: You like talking to the Southerners too, about you?
- 1:00Speaker 4: Oh yeah, they like their turkey hunt. They're good at it.
- 1:05Speaker 2: So you can come see First Light at NWTF. You
- 1:08Speaker 2: can come see Giannis me, Clay, some of the other
- 1:10Speaker 2: crew members will be there. About one month from now.
- 1:13Speaker 2: I think it's President's Day weekend.
- 1:16Speaker 4: We're gonna host weekend party.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Uh. We will have some details about that. What what's
- 1:21Speaker 2: gonna happen we have We have a party that NWTF
- 1:24Speaker 2: is having their second one ever. We're hosting it for
- 1:28Speaker 2: the second time.
- 1:29Speaker 4: M hmm.
- 1:30Speaker 2: There's going to be some trivia there. I think there
- 1:33Speaker 2: might be some storytelling that happens. There's going to be
- 1:36Speaker 2: an owl hoot context about that. No, but if we
- 1:39Speaker 2: just put it out there, who's gonna tell us?
- 1:42Speaker 4: Maybe the universe will make it happen.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Clay Newcom is going to be in charge of that.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Yeah, voice only mm hmm. Yeah. Nothing against the guys
- 1:50Speaker 4: that do it really well with the calls that went
- 1:52Speaker 4: and sat in twice now to listen to them call.
- 1:56Speaker 4: They're all really good. They almost all sound the same
- 2:00Speaker 4: because they're all so good with their long owl hooting tubes.
- 2:04Speaker 4: And I think bringing back the voice owl who would
- 2:09Speaker 4: be a real hit. And when you're down there, you're
- 2:11Speaker 4: gonna hear some people that sound like owls. If you
- 2:14Speaker 4: close your eyes and just imagine being in the woods.
- 2:16Speaker 5: Have you ever seen anyone call an owl in Oh?
- 2:19Speaker 4: Yeah, you know who did it to the point where
- 2:22Speaker 4: it got annoying was Guy Zuck remember him in Michigan.
- 2:28Speaker 2: What was an owl's response?
- 2:30Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, it's ridiculous. Not only one owl, but
- 2:34Speaker 4: we're out there listening for turkeys, and I'm like, guy,
- 2:37Speaker 4: bust out that badass barn owl call you got, and
- 2:40Speaker 4: like get a turkey to gobble. He's like, I don't
- 2:43Speaker 4: do it. I'm like, why not, Oh, because it'll attract
- 2:46Speaker 4: a bunch of owls their territorial And I'm like, bullshit,
- 2:49Speaker 4: you know what are you talking about. He's like, okay,
- 2:55Speaker 4: you know, does his thing? You know what I mean.
- 2:59Speaker 4: A couple minutes go by and there's two maybe a
- 3:03Speaker 4: third one like a like two above us literally just
- 3:06Speaker 4: come in, another one one hundred yards away, and they
- 3:09Speaker 4: are going bananas to the point you couldn't hear a
- 3:12Speaker 4: gobble if there was, if it was fifty yards away, hammering.
- 3:15Speaker 4: They're just on top of us, just wow, you know,
- 3:17Speaker 4: doing all their crazy sounds, and guys like see Solgien
- 3:21Speaker 4: too good, Yeah, too good. So he doesn't he didn't
- 3:24Speaker 4: do him anymore.
- 3:24Speaker 2: You guys were doing al hoots on the live tour.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Do you know what city had the best representation of
- 3:29Speaker 2: al hoots?
- 3:32Speaker 4: I would say that it was either Fayetteville, Arkansas.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Or.
- 3:43Speaker 1: It was not generally speaking, it was not a proud showing.
- 3:48Speaker 4: Yeah overall, yeah.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Clay, oh yeah. Regionally, I think.
- 3:52Speaker 2: I thought you would be impressed in the Clay's confidence.
- 3:55Speaker 4: It was better than when we've done our other tours
- 3:58Speaker 4: on the West coast or just as the middle of
- 4:00Speaker 4: the United States. But I just don't know if we
- 4:05Speaker 4: are our show attracts the people that can make the
- 4:10Speaker 4: best out hoots.
- 4:11Speaker 2: It's a challenge from the honest what other city it
- 4:14Speaker 2: sounded like we were going to come up?
- 4:15Speaker 6: There were a couple outstanding uh hooters. I'm trying to
- 4:20Speaker 6: think of where.
- 4:21Speaker 4: We started in Birmingham, right, Yeah, and we were definitely
- 4:23Speaker 4: let down there. But then the next stop in Memphis.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Nashville had two good finalists.
- 4:29Speaker 6: Yeah, but we were never in a situation where we
- 4:32Speaker 6: had like eight good ones to choose from. It was
- 4:36Speaker 6: always fairly obvious who the finalists were.
- 4:40Speaker 4: Yeah, you can you can definitely tell the regions where
- 4:42Speaker 4: they're doing it more because that Alabama Tennessee and we
- 4:46Speaker 4: had You know, when you're there, people are driving from
- 4:49Speaker 4: all those surrounding states, right, so you always have Mississippians
- 4:53Speaker 4: in there and whatever. Once we got into Texas, it
- 4:56Speaker 4: just dropped off the cliff. Like those folks like, aren't
- 4:59Speaker 4: aren't a well NWTF.
- 5:04Speaker 7: They're probably using electronic calls all the time.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Could be n WTF. Valentine's Weekend in Nashville. You can
- 5:10Speaker 2: come show Yannie and Clay your best owl hoot. All right,
- 5:14Speaker 2: This is a ten round qustion with questions for meat
- 5:15Speaker 2: Eater's four verticals, which are hunting, fishing, conservation, and cooking.
- 5:18Speaker 2: There is a prize. Meat Eater will donate five hundred
- 5:21Speaker 2: dollars to the conservation organization of the winners choosing. We
- 5:25Speaker 2: have an I FAQ this week. It's from Matt Obardo.
- 5:28Speaker 2: I enjoyed Nate as the guest host. How would Nate
- 5:31Speaker 2: grade his performance on a scale of negative five to five?
- 5:36Speaker 2: Throwback to Nate, Nate thinks that that's how things should
- 5:38Speaker 2: be scored instead of zero to ten. So Nate zero
- 5:42Speaker 2: or negative five to five.
- 5:45Speaker 8: I do think we should use negative five to five
- 5:47Speaker 8: for roasts. It would help with the scoring. I don't
- 5:51Speaker 8: know if my performance was that good. I think we
- 5:54Speaker 8: just had a great room.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Oh wow, I really do that's good hosting. You just
- 5:57Speaker 2: did by passing off being very humble.
- 6:01Speaker 9: Well I'm not known for that. So cool.
- 6:04Speaker 5: But should the contestants be the one to gree Yeah,
- 6:09Speaker 5: let's see that.
- 6:12Speaker 8: Yeah, Spencer being like a four and a half or
- 6:14Speaker 8: a five would probably I would put ken at.
- 6:20Speaker 9: Kenyan at like a negative two and a half or three.
- 6:23Speaker 4: As as a.
- 6:24Speaker 5: Host, I'd give you a she did pretty good at two.
- 6:28Speaker 9: I'll take that.
- 6:29Speaker 4: Randall observed.
- 6:30Speaker 2: The comments were very positive.
- 6:31Speaker 6: The comments were very positive. I thought you did a
- 6:34Speaker 6: great job, uh not being flustered by a lively room.
- 6:38Speaker 1: I mean we began the.
- 6:39Speaker 6: Episode by just sort of antagonizing you for two minutes straight.
- 6:43Speaker 6: I did deserve that, and I thought, you know, the
- 6:47Speaker 6: questions were good. There weren't any like Steve stopping his
- 6:53Speaker 6: feet about the veracity of any of your answers. You know,
- 6:58Speaker 6: the one thing I think was just in the Poleon
- 7:00Speaker 6: Dynamite clue ruined the hole.
- 7:02Speaker 10: Yeah, I watered the actor's name.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Yeah, but nobody got started it. But nobody got it.
- 7:10Speaker 5: I'm just saying like you started that ball rolling down
- 7:12Speaker 5: the hill.
- 7:13Speaker 8: I have a little pushback there if you were, like,
- 7:17Speaker 8: if Spencer did that, it would be wrong.
- 7:20Speaker 9: But it's baked in because I'm a it had to happen.
- 7:24Speaker 1: No, I got.
- 7:26Speaker 5: Home, Well, it seems kind of better to be mad
- 7:30Speaker 5: about that when you won.
- 7:32Speaker 6: I'm just trying to give him some constructive feed for
- 7:34Speaker 6: I got home and Sydney's like, I listened to Trivia.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Holy shit, I can't believe he did that with Napoleon.
- 7:41Speaker 9: I that said, I don't think I will do that again.
- 7:44Speaker 1: That's great, so you learn, Yeah, exactly. Nobody's perfect.
- 7:48Speaker 2: That's why he gave him SELVI two not I thought.
- 7:51Speaker 6: All in all, though, I think for like a debut
- 7:53Speaker 6: as a host of Trivia, I think it's probably I
- 7:56Speaker 6: would call it a smashing success.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Random point out there was one kind of man that said,
- 8:00Speaker 2: I don't even like Nate, but he did a good job.
- 8:06Speaker 8: Subject Well, yeah, but listen, it's a testament to the
- 8:15Speaker 8: Lord all body that I'm this palatable.
- 8:18Speaker 9: So I hear you.
- 8:22Speaker 2: We have some housekeeping. On a previous episode of Trivia,
- 8:25Speaker 2: we had a question about the four letter organ at
- 8:28Speaker 2: the base of a bird's esophagus, where food is stored
- 8:31Speaker 2: before entering the stomach. The correct answer was crop, but
- 8:34Speaker 2: about a dozen folks wrote in saying craw should also
- 8:38Speaker 2: be correct, and I agree with him. It's a four
- 8:41Speaker 2: letter word, and Merriam Webster has it defined as quote
- 8:44Speaker 2: the crop of a bird or insect. So if you
- 8:47Speaker 2: said craw for that question, then go ahead and give
- 8:50Speaker 2: yourself the point.
- 8:50Speaker 5: Crop or I just thought that was people like Clay
- 8:53Speaker 5: saying that wrong.
- 8:55Speaker 2: No, that's that Merriam Webster, uh says it's it's literally
- 8:59Speaker 2: the crop of a bird.
- 9:01Speaker 4: So and how did they spell it?
- 9:02Speaker 2: Crraw?
- 9:04Speaker 9: Is that where like a stick in my crawl comes from?
- 9:07Speaker 2: I don't know, probably sticking a bird scraw?
- 9:11Speaker 4: All right.
- 9:11Speaker 2: The Shelby and extra today is a three and a half,
- 9:13Speaker 2: so our winner should get seven correct answers. And with
- 9:17Speaker 2: that we're onto the game of trivia. Play the drop fill.
- 9:22Speaker 2: I need to know what I stand and win everything.
- 9:27Speaker 5: He's gone.
- 9:28Speaker 1: You're just time to win everything.
- 9:36Speaker 7: Game On Suckers.
- 9:38Speaker 2: Question one, the topic is hunting, and this is multiple choice.
- 9:42Speaker 2: What does it cost to enter an animal into the
- 9:45Speaker 2: boon and crocket or popin Young Record books? Is it zero? Dollars,
- 9:51Speaker 2: twenty dollars, forty dollars or sixty dollars.
- 9:57Speaker 4: The wrong room. I like the question.
- 9:59Speaker 2: I like the question what does it cost to enter
- 10:02Speaker 2: an animal into the Boom and Crocket or Pope and
- 10:05Speaker 2: Young record books?
- 10:06Speaker 4: They I never killed one big enough to have to
- 10:09Speaker 4: find out.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Zero dollars, twenty dollars, forty dollars or sixty dollars. Has
- 10:15Speaker 2: anybody gone through the process of entering anything?
- 10:18Speaker 4: Yeah? I have we not that big.
- 10:21Speaker 5: That one you killed with cat.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Seven hunters in the room who have never gone through
- 10:27Speaker 2: the Pope and Young or Boone and Crockett process? What
- 10:30Speaker 2: does it cost to enter an animal? Zero dollars, twenty dollars,
- 10:35Speaker 2: forty dollars or sixty dollars. Is everybody ready? Go ahead
- 10:43Speaker 2: and reveal your answers? Nate says twenty, Logan says it's free,
- 10:47Speaker 2: Randal free, Cory forty dollars, Yannis sixty dollars, Brody twenty dollars.
- 10:55Speaker 2: All over, every answer was represented. The correct answer is
- 11:00Speaker 2: forty dollars. Just who Corey got that one right. Although
- 11:06Speaker 2: it's free to have an animal scored, it does cost
- 11:08Speaker 2: you to have an animal entered in their record books,
- 11:11Speaker 2: but Boone and Crockett does not charge the forty dollars
- 11:14Speaker 2: fee to its official measures, museums, state agencies, or other nonprofits.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Question to the topic is fishing. This next great question
- 11:24Speaker 2: is via Stu mckissack. This type of salmon is a
- 11:28Speaker 2: landlocked sake and shares its name with a Canadian beer.
- 11:32Speaker 5: I feel like we've had this question. Yeah three times.
- 11:36Speaker 9: I still don't know.
- 11:38Speaker 6: So you said that in the flavor text for the
- 11:40Speaker 6: last question. You said that they don't charge for state agencies, and.
- 11:43Speaker 5: In fact I might ask this question.
- 11:45Speaker 1: So in some situations the cost is zero.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Are not going to give it to you if you
- 11:50Speaker 2: said free, But it is free if you're an official
- 11:53Speaker 2: measure like Clay Nucombe. Oh, this type of sand.
- 11:57Speaker 5: Is that why Clay is always saying like one seventy
- 12:00Speaker 5: one in fifteen sixteen.
- 12:02Speaker 2: He's an official measure. That's right. This type of salmon
- 12:05Speaker 2: is a landlocked saka and shares its name with a
- 12:08Speaker 2: Canadian beer. We have a confident room logan. Do you
- 12:14Speaker 2: have this one?
- 12:14Speaker 3: Right?
- 12:15Speaker 2: Is everybody ready?
- 12:16Speaker 4: I drank some of this beer in Canada as a
- 12:17Speaker 4: nineteen year old.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers, Nate says Chinook. The
- 12:22Speaker 2: rest of the room says Cocony.
- 12:27Speaker 9: Dude, I don't coach or drink beer.
- 12:29Speaker 5: You gotta be a Chinook beer. I bet up in Alaska.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Cociny beer was created in Creston, British Columbia, in nineteen
- 12:36Speaker 2: sixty two and is named after the nearby Cociny Glacier.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Their website says, quote, Cocony is British Columbia in a
- 12:43Speaker 2: bottle offering a crisp glacier fresh taste. I've never had one.
- 12:47Speaker 2: What's your review of it? Be honest? What's a review
- 12:49Speaker 2: from a night cocy?
- 12:50Speaker 1: Honest?
- 12:50Speaker 2: I never have.
- 12:52Speaker 4: Boy, it's been it's been decades. But I would just
- 12:58Speaker 4: put it in the class of uh, you know, the
- 13:02Speaker 4: Budweiser's and Rens Molson's and other mass produced randa What
- 13:07Speaker 4: do you think I would?
- 13:09Speaker 6: I would I associate it with like a Reneer origional
- 13:14Speaker 6: easy drinking beer.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Okay, crazy, I got that bro he was because it
- 13:19Speaker 2: was it was on a podcast. You you you talked
- 13:22Speaker 2: about it.
- 13:22Speaker 5: I don't know if it was a trivia or just
- 13:23Speaker 5: ringing the podcast, But like I said, we've.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Had I think Spencer I have enough confidence in spencer
- 13:29Speaker 1: that he wouldn't repeat a question.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Question three. The topic is woodsmanship. Outdoor content creator Luke
- 13:37Speaker 2: Nichols told his fifteen million subscribers in May twenty twenty
- 13:41Speaker 2: five that he was done posting videos to this YouTube channel.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Outdoor content creator Luke Nichols he told his fifteen million
- 13:53Speaker 2: subscribers in May twenty twenty five that he was done
- 13:56Speaker 2: posting videos to this YouTube channel. Nate and Randall and
- 14:01Speaker 2: Corey and Yiannis all seem confident they already have an answer.
- 14:05Speaker 2: Brody is joining them. Logan has a blank, useless knowledge.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Yes his question three. Outdoor content creator Luke Nichols told
- 14:17Speaker 2: his fifteen million subscribers in May twenty twenty five that
- 14:21Speaker 2: he was done posting videos to this YouTube channel.
- 14:25Speaker 4: And like he dropped it under woodsmanship.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Yeah, he's doing a lot of woodsmanship out there to
- 14:34Speaker 2: fifteen million people.
- 14:35Speaker 4: But the category should just be don't you have like
- 14:38Speaker 4: a media category when you talk about movies and.
- 14:40Speaker 6: Now just folded under whatever's most pop I would say that, unfortunately,
- 14:45Speaker 6: that's probably the place where most people have learned woodsmanship
- 14:49Speaker 6: in the.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Last three years.
- 14:51Speaker 2: It's quite popular.
- 14:52Speaker 5: Unfortunately, I mean as far as influencers go, the guy,
- 14:56Speaker 5: I mean, has anybody watched his stuff?
- 14:59Speaker 8: I've never watched his stuff. I just looked at a
- 15:01Speaker 8: list of all his videos and his most popular video
- 15:05Speaker 8: is a NERF war video. Mmmm, okay and Scott like
- 15:08Speaker 8: two hundred and fifty million views.
- 15:10Speaker 2: I always get served his content through someone else, Like
- 15:13Speaker 2: he didn't post it. Someone else grabbed forty five seconds
- 15:15Speaker 2: from one of his videos and then put it out there.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Does everyone have an answer for question three?
- 15:20Speaker 1: I definitely don't have this right.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. Nate says outdoor Boys.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Logan says seek one. The rest of the room says
- 15:28Speaker 2: Outdoor Boys. They got it. The correct answer is Outdoor.
- 15:32Speaker 9: Boys seek one.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Though the Outdoor Boys channel followed Luke and his three
- 15:36Speaker 2: sons as they hunted, fished, foraged, and camped across Alaska.
- 15:40Speaker 2: He called it quits after eleven years and four hundred
- 15:43Speaker 2: and ninety videos, but then dropped three more videos just
- 15:45Speaker 2: six months after the announcement. He said the attention was
- 15:48Speaker 2: making it hard for his family to live normal lives
- 15:51Speaker 2: and that he's unsure if he'll ever return to making content.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Question four, They always come back, they do. He said,
- 15:59Speaker 2: those other three videos were promised. He promised he would
- 16:02Speaker 2: put those out, so he put those out. Then he said,
- 16:04Speaker 2: that's it.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Now I'm promised him a little more jingle.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Question for the topic is conservation. This is our listener
- 16:12Speaker 2: question of the week, which was won by Tyler Kearney
- 16:15Speaker 2: for sending this great question, Tyler is going to get
- 16:16Speaker 2: a board game signed by the crew. If you want
- 16:18Speaker 2: a chance to win a listener question of the week,
- 16:20Speaker 2: then send your question to Trivia at the meat eater
- 16:22Speaker 2: dot com. This alliterative term is defined as quote the
- 16:28Speaker 2: maximum number of species that can sustainably live in a
- 16:32Speaker 2: given area. This is question four. Topic is conservation. It's
- 16:41Speaker 2: our listener question of the week, which was won by Tyler.
- 16:44Speaker 2: This alliterative term is defined as the maximum number of
- 16:48Speaker 2: species that can sustainably live in a given a species. Okay,
- 16:57Speaker 2: Brody says, too easy, Keep talking, Brody, need up more.
- 17:00Speaker 8: You know I was when I made all my questions.
- 17:03Speaker 8: You told me basically all of them were too hard. Yes,
- 17:05Speaker 8: I thought you were so far off, but I deferred
- 17:09Speaker 8: to your experience and you were right.
- 17:11Speaker 9: Like, if I've done my original questions, they have got
- 17:12Speaker 9: like one right.
- 17:13Speaker 4: What did.
- 17:16Speaker 5: You came in with a perfect game?
- 17:17Speaker 2: Alert?
- 17:18Speaker 5: Which was total?
- 17:19Speaker 2: Dude?
- 17:19Speaker 8: Maybe I should get my wife in here and start playing, y'all?
- 17:23Speaker 4: How made you get right to win?
- 17:25Speaker 9: Sick well? Tiebreaker?
- 17:30Speaker 4: Those are hard questions.
- 17:32Speaker 2: This alliterative term is defined as the maximum number of
- 17:35Speaker 2: species that can sustainably live in a given area.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Yeah, the first half was tough.
- 17:41Speaker 4: It's easy to do. I I still death write harder
- 17:44Speaker 4: questions than needed.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Corey, Do you have this one right?
- 17:47Speaker 1: No?
- 17:48Speaker 7: I don't think so.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Logan, do you have this one right chance?
- 17:50Speaker 4: Do you know what alliterative means?
- 17:52Speaker 9: Yes?
- 17:54Speaker 7: And I know I know.
- 17:55Speaker 2: The answer is just usually alliteration.
- 17:58Speaker 9: Your tongue keep going.
- 17:59Speaker 2: One needs help, Yanni, you got this one, I believe so.
- 18:05Speaker 2: After a brief pause, he figured it out. Logan, do
- 18:09Speaker 2: you give up?
- 18:10Speaker 4: Yeah, we're calling it.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. Nate says carrying capacity,
- 18:15Speaker 2: Logan without an answer, Randall carrying capacity, Corey says over abundant,
- 18:21Speaker 2: Giannis and Brody say carrying capacity. The correct answer is
- 18:25Speaker 2: carrying capacity. Food, water, and habitat are the three main
- 18:30Speaker 2: things that determine a species carrying capacity. Biologists estimate that
- 18:34Speaker 2: the carrying capacity for wolves in Yellowstone is about one hundred.
- 18:38Speaker 2: It's believe there are one hundred and twenty wolves living
- 18:40Speaker 2: in the park right now, with their population fluctuating between
- 18:44Speaker 2: eighty and one hundred and seventy in the last twenty years.
- 18:48Speaker 4: You know what the number one killer of wolves and
- 18:50Speaker 4: ye also other wolves. That is correct.
- 18:53Speaker 3: Nice.
- 18:54Speaker 4: I always find that to be an interesting.
- 18:56Speaker 2: I found interesting there's only one hundred and twenty of
- 18:58Speaker 2: them there. Yeah, I feel like I've seen two dozen
- 19:00Speaker 2: of them, and I'm like, I can't ever seen one
- 19:03Speaker 2: fifth of the wolves.
- 19:05Speaker 5: That's a lot of wolves.
- 19:06Speaker 2: That's also a lot of country, a lot of elk,
- 19:08Speaker 2: a lot of deer. Question five. The topic is wildlife.
- 19:12Speaker 2: This next great question is via Dylan Bussy. This ten
- 19:17Speaker 2: letter fish is a type of gobi native to Africa
- 19:21Speaker 2: and Australia that's famous for its ability to walk and
- 19:25Speaker 2: breathe on land. Oh ten, the topic is wildlife. This
- 19:34Speaker 2: is question five. This ten letter fish is a type
- 19:38Speaker 2: of gobi native to Africa and Australia that's famous for
- 19:42Speaker 2: its ability to walk and breathe on land. No confident
- 19:47Speaker 2: players at the moment.
- 19:49Speaker 7: I can see this little mutant animal.
- 19:52Speaker 2: We will look at a picture of it after this.
- 19:57Speaker 4: Damn and Allen got nine letters. Spencer be out for us.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Ten letter fish. It's a type of gobi native to
- 20:06Speaker 2: Africa and Australia that's famous for its ability to walk
- 20:10Speaker 2: and breathe on land. We have a stumped room. Brody
- 20:19Speaker 2: has an answer. Do you like your answer? Bro okay?
- 20:24Speaker 2: He may be the only one. We will get a
- 20:27Speaker 2: scoreboard update from Fill the engineer after this, and also
- 20:32Speaker 2: look at a picture of this ten letter fish. It's
- 20:36Speaker 2: the type of gobi native to Africa and Australia that's
- 20:40Speaker 2: famous for its ability to walk and breathe on land.
- 20:43Speaker 4: Is this the remember the fishing guy Joel Nora Kane? Oh?
- 20:47Speaker 5: Yeah, I remember?
- 20:48Speaker 4: Didn't. It's not that that's different, but that fish also
- 20:52Speaker 4: can mess around outside.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Honest, do you have a ten letter fish?
- 20:57Speaker 4: No?
- 20:58Speaker 2: Okay?
- 21:04Speaker 4: What I like that guy?
- 21:05Speaker 5: I like him too. Just I haven't heard that.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Nade Brody giddy bringing that up. Brody may be the
- 21:10Speaker 2: only one of our six players to get this one.
- 21:15Speaker 2: You're striking out right now, Logan, I got one.
- 21:18Speaker 4: Nice. Just put that out there. We can skip the
- 21:21Speaker 4: scoreboard update.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Yeah, like ten letter fish is a type of go
- 21:25Speaker 2: be native to Africa and Australia that's famous for its
- 21:29Speaker 2: ability to walk and breathe on land. Randal, how you
- 21:32Speaker 2: doing down there?
- 21:33Speaker 1: Not great, spencer cut, I think a long number of letters.
- 21:38Speaker 2: We're probably waiting on you give up? Does everybody give up?
- 21:43Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. Nate says snakeheads, Logan snakeheads,
- 21:49Speaker 2: Randall says mud muddy puppy Corey without an answer, yiannis snakehead.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Brody mud skipper. The correct answer is MUDs skippers. Brody
- 22:01Speaker 2: got that one right. Mud puppy would not qualify with that.
- 22:07Speaker 1: It doesn't have the right number. Probably the same thing.
- 22:10Speaker 2: So mud skippers will move across land to hunt for
- 22:13Speaker 2: insects and crustaceans, fine mates, and escape predators. They do
- 22:18Speaker 2: so by polling themselves along with their pectoral fins. When
- 22:21Speaker 2: out of water, they have the unique ability to breathe
- 22:24Speaker 2: by trapping water in their gills and absorbing oxygen through
- 22:27Speaker 2: their skin. They spend about as much of their life
- 22:30Speaker 2: on land as they do in water. There is a
- 22:33Speaker 2: picture that that looks like a pokemon of mud skippers and.
- 22:38Speaker 1: A mud puppy is not the same thing.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Didn't have ten letters. But I'm just trying to you
- 22:42Speaker 2: were so close.
- 22:43Speaker 1: I'm not asking for a point. I'm just not want
- 22:45Speaker 1: to know if I'm right.
- 22:46Speaker 2: You were flirting with the right answer. Ah, I'm going
- 22:49Speaker 2: to give it to you.
- 22:51Speaker 4: Phil.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Let's get a scoreboard update. Halfway through the game of trivia.
- 22:54Speaker 5: I haven't heard Phil say a word this whole game.
- 22:59Speaker 4: You uh.
- 23:00Speaker 10: Here at halftime, we've got Logan with one singular one point.
- 23:04Speaker 10: He's on the board, though Nate's got two. Cory, Giannis
- 23:06Speaker 10: and Randall are tied up with three points and with
- 23:09Speaker 10: the only correct answer on mud Skipper, it's Brody Henderson
- 23:12Speaker 10: and first with four.
- 23:13Speaker 4: Anybody's Game? Anybody's Game?
- 23:18Speaker 2: Question six, The topic is hunting. This Outdoor Magazine was
- 23:23Speaker 2: created in nineteen twenty five and goes by the acronym
- 23:27Speaker 2: F F G, and their shorthand for that is F
- 23:33Speaker 2: hyphen F hyphen g is Outdoor Magazine was created in
- 23:39Speaker 2: nineteen twenty five and goes by the acronym FFG.
- 23:42Speaker 5: So I love reading this one.
- 23:45Speaker 4: I live next not quite next door, A couple of
- 23:47Speaker 4: doors down from a fella that was an editor of
- 23:51Speaker 4: this magazine for quite a while. They gave me a
- 23:54Speaker 4: first edition Jack O'Connor book that I lent to Steven
- 23:58Speaker 4: Ronella at one time, never got and so bitch gave
- 24:01Speaker 4: it away. Who did give it to he doesn't even
- 24:06Speaker 4: know he did. It was just taking up space and
- 24:08Speaker 4: so he just needed to get rid of it. He
- 24:10Speaker 4: forgot who owned it.
- 24:12Speaker 5: Now, I will never have a lot of respect for o'
- 24:15Speaker 5: connor's writing.
- 24:16Speaker 4: I know that's why they got get your private property. Now.
- 24:20Speaker 4: In Steve's defense, he did give me as a trade.
- 24:24Speaker 4: He gave me a Duncan Gilchrist Hunt High, which is
- 24:29Speaker 4: also a classic.
- 24:32Speaker 2: It's hard to find, but you'd prefer that Jack O'Connor
- 24:35Speaker 2: first edition.
- 24:36Speaker 4: Well, yeah, I enjoyed. I enjoyed reading that book. It
- 24:39Speaker 4: was like it was like large format. It was a
- 24:42Speaker 4: cool book. It had a bunch of letters when he
- 24:45Speaker 4: used to answer all of the letters to the editor
- 24:48Speaker 4: in there, and he had just the letters that he
- 24:50Speaker 4: had picked out and published in that book. Had nothing
- 24:53Speaker 4: to do not all of them. Some of them were hunting, hunting, fishing,
- 24:56Speaker 4: but most of them had nothing to do with hunting
- 24:58Speaker 4: and fishing, and so they were that the kind of
- 25:01Speaker 4: just the weird, crazy stuff that had come in, but
- 25:03Speaker 4: he still took the time to write back.
- 25:05Speaker 5: It wasn't he also a romance writer or something like that.
- 25:09Speaker 4: I don't know about that.
- 25:10Speaker 2: I'd like to read that book. Yeah, if you could
- 25:12Speaker 2: just get it back. This outdoor magazine was created in
- 25:16Speaker 2: nineteen twenty five and goes by the acronym f f G.
- 25:20Speaker 2: This is question six. Is everybody ready go ahead and
- 25:24Speaker 2: reveal your answers? Nate says fish Field Guide, oh Logan
- 25:29Speaker 2: Farmer's Field Guide, Randall fur Fish Game, Corey fur Fish Game,
- 25:36Speaker 2: Giannis fur Fish Game, Brody fur Fish Game. The correct
- 25:40Speaker 2: answer is for phish Game.
- 25:43Speaker 5: Wonder if I did steveo ever get published in for
- 25:46Speaker 5: fish Game.
- 25:47Speaker 2: I feel like he wrote something trapping related for them.
- 25:50Speaker 4: There's a story about my dog and me in that
- 25:55Speaker 4: magazine last year. Who wrote that two years ago? I
- 26:00Speaker 4: can't remember they actually took it. They did a podcast
- 26:02Speaker 4: and then they basically made an article from the podcast.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Arthur Harding started his first outdoor magazine called Hunter Trader
- 26:10Speaker 2: Trapper in nineteen hundred, where he reported fur prices, but
- 26:14Speaker 2: he sold the publication in nineteen fourteen due to poor health.
- 26:17Speaker 2: When he recovered. A decade later, he tried to buy
- 26:20Speaker 2: it back, but the new owner wouldn't sell, so Harding
- 26:23Speaker 2: purchased a different magazine called fur News and Outdoor World
- 26:27Speaker 2: and changed it to Furfish Game. Today, they are the
- 26:30Speaker 2: last national outdoor magazine that still publishes new issues each month.
- 26:36Speaker 2: Question and they look the same. You look at one
- 26:38Speaker 2: of those covers, it looked like thirty years ago like
- 26:41Speaker 2: it did.
- 26:41Speaker 4: Six. I'm going to get a subscription today.
- 26:43Speaker 2: There you go support them. Furfish Game, last one is
- 26:46Speaker 2: doing it on a monthly basis. Question seven. The topic
- 26:50Speaker 2: is fishing. Most of America's pollock harvest happens here, which
- 26:55Speaker 2: is defined as quote the northernmost part of the Pacific,
- 26:59Speaker 2: separating the continents of Asia and North America. Hum, most
- 27:08Speaker 2: of America's pollock harvest happens here, which is defined as
- 27:12Speaker 2: quote the northernmost part of the Pacific, separating the continents
- 27:17Speaker 2: of Asia and North America. We have a confident room
- 27:21Speaker 2: on question seven.
- 27:25Speaker 5: Boy, we had a banner yere on pollock a couple
- 27:27Speaker 5: of years ago.
- 27:27Speaker 1: It's Steve Shack.
- 27:28Speaker 5: You can drop down there without snagging one on every
- 27:31Speaker 5: drop for a while.
- 27:32Speaker 2: What's the top thing you would do with pollock.
- 27:36Speaker 5: The bigger ones, we'd filly. The boys wouldn't let him go,
- 27:39Speaker 5: so we had.
- 27:39Speaker 2: To fill ay him.
- 27:40Speaker 1: But he's just bbate.
- 27:41Speaker 5: You can send a live one down there for halibate.
- 27:43Speaker 4: Okay, Oh, you don't save him for personal consumption.
- 27:48Speaker 5: We kept the bigger one, just the most of them.
- 27:49Speaker 4: We were catching one.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Oh and like the imitation crabb me, you get, I
- 27:53Speaker 2: feel like that that's been slurried once. Oh, and then
- 27:56Speaker 2: it's like comes back in that shape.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Right.
- 27:58Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 27:58Speaker 2: Most of America's pollock harvest happens here, which is defined
- 28:01Speaker 2: as the northernmost part of the Pacific, separating the continents
- 28:06Speaker 2: of Asia and North America. Is everybody ready, go ahead
- 28:11Speaker 2: and reveal your answers. We have everybody saying bearing sea,
- 28:15Speaker 2: and they got, oh, what did Nate say, bearing straight?
- 28:19Speaker 2: Bearing sea or bearing straight? I had it wrote down,
- 28:22Speaker 2: I would accept He spelled both words wrong, though, V
- 28:28Speaker 2: E R I n G and st r.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Bearing like vetus bearing.
- 28:34Speaker 7: Oh.
- 28:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:36Speaker 2: According to Noah, the bearing sea pollock fishery is the
- 28:40Speaker 2: largest single species fishery in the world. It's estimated that
- 28:44Speaker 2: fleets bring in one point five million tons of pollock
- 28:47Speaker 2: from here each year, which is enough to make over
- 28:49Speaker 2: one billion fish sandwiches. This rich stretch of water is
- 28:53Speaker 2: also famous for its salmon, pacific cod, halibit, snow crab,
- 28:57Speaker 2: and kin crab. Question eight the topic is cooking. Butchers
- 29:03Speaker 2: use this type of vertical saw with an endless tooth
- 29:06Speaker 2: belt to make precise cuts through meat and bone. Last
- 29:12Speaker 2: question was a one hundred. This one has potential for
- 29:17Speaker 2: that as well.
- 29:20Speaker 4: I wasn't screwed.
- 29:22Speaker 2: The butchers use this type of vertical saw with an
- 29:27Speaker 2: endless tooth belt to make precise cuts through meat and bone. Yeah,
- 29:32Speaker 2: Corey is asking for someone to send our office one.
- 29:34Speaker 2: That's when we all have access to one of these.
- 29:38Speaker 4: These things that I think are dangerous, dangerous. I don't
- 29:43Speaker 4: know if you'd want to have one in an office.
- 29:46Speaker 7: Have to sign a waiver before you turn out.
- 29:48Speaker 4: I think so.
- 29:49Speaker 2: Is it more dangerous though, than like using the wrong
- 29:52Speaker 2: tool to try to do, like if you had a
- 29:54Speaker 2: saws all trying to accomplish I do too, but I
- 30:00Speaker 2: I think this would be maybe not.
- 30:02Speaker 4: But we also don't have a saws all laying around
- 30:04Speaker 4: for everybody just to grab when they want to make
- 30:06Speaker 4: these cuts.
- 30:07Speaker 2: Yeah, this is question eight. Butchers use this type.
- 30:11Speaker 5: Number when you see a video of someone like whatever
- 30:17Speaker 5: shank or something like from above it's scary.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, it's everybody ready. Go ahead and reveal
- 30:25Speaker 2: your answers. Nate and Logan and Randal, everybody says band saw.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Everybody got it correct?
- 30:34Speaker 1: Saw? What did you be honest? What did you have
- 30:36Speaker 1: to change there?
- 30:37Speaker 4: Try to add the D. For a long period of
- 30:40Speaker 4: my life, I thought that it was just called a
- 30:41Speaker 4: band saw. Oh and then at some point I realized
- 30:45Speaker 4: that it's a band saw.
- 30:47Speaker 7: I'm sure you would have got it right.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Bandsaws are built for making quickness cream cuts through frozen
- 30:52Speaker 2: meat and bones. Home Depot has tabletop options that started
- 30:56Speaker 2: three hundred dollars, or you can spend five figures on
- 30:59Speaker 2: a standalone commercial version. Phil, let's get a scoreboard update
- 31:02Speaker 2: with two questions to go.
- 31:06Speaker 10: Here at halftime? Got Logan with three? Not halftime, PHILM,
- 31:10Speaker 10: it's not halftime. Thanks, Randall, appreciate that question. Nate, Nate's
- 31:15Speaker 10: got four, Randall, Corey and Giannis are tied with six
- 31:17Speaker 10: and still in first place by one point.
- 31:20Speaker 2: Is Brody with seven. Question nine, The topic is conservation.
- 31:24Speaker 2: This next great question is via adele tabor. This extinct
- 31:29Speaker 2: species was also known as Thyla scene online that this
- 31:36Speaker 2: is also pronounced Thyla sign as well, but thylas scene.
- 31:41Speaker 2: More often, it's t h y l A c I
- 31:45Speaker 2: n E.
- 31:45Speaker 4: Nate, why do you know this?
- 31:47Speaker 8: Because I like extinct species.
- 31:50Speaker 9: I don't know I might have some gumption with this question.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Phil, I'm sorry that I stepped on your toes.
- 31:56Speaker 10: Didn't much rather you do it than some in the comments.
- 31:59Speaker 6: Because if somebody, yeah, if they thought we were halfway
- 32:02Speaker 6: through with someone at seven points, that think would change
- 32:05Speaker 6: the rules of the game.
- 32:06Speaker 4: A bunch of bumbling fools in here.
- 32:08Speaker 2: This extinct is also known as Thyla scene. Nate is confident,
- 32:12Speaker 2: Randall is confident. Bro maybe.
- 32:19Speaker 9: Oh he's losing it and.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Slogan with a.
- 32:23Speaker 5: Love how Nate tries to like throw his weight around.
- 32:25Speaker 9: You know, I'm not gonna win. I'm just gonna hear
- 32:28Speaker 9: a craft.
- 32:31Speaker 3: There's a very little context in this question.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Extinct species was also the name of the.
- 32:37Speaker 6: I was gonna say, but I'm glad so good to
- 32:42Speaker 6: be here in the office.
- 32:47Speaker 4: Hey, well, I'll take you out to lunch after this loss.
- 32:49Speaker 4: Appreciate that.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Old team lunch.
- 32:54Speaker 5: Can I come some The only time we get lunch is.
- 33:00Speaker 4: Yeah, hopefully trivia for this episode dull hot beef sandwich.
- 33:06Speaker 4: You're gonna have a He's gonna get a call. Hey, God,
- 33:09Speaker 4: tell us about how many lunches?
- 33:12Speaker 1: How many pizza?
- 33:14Speaker 2: She stopped? Hm, Brody, how do you feel about your answer?
- 33:18Speaker 2: You narrowed fifty fifty?
- 33:21Speaker 4: Scene? What is a thilo scene?
- 33:24Speaker 2: Pilocene or pyloside. This extinct species is also known as thyloscene.
- 33:30Speaker 4: What it's got to be related to hunting and fishing.
- 33:34Speaker 4: He wouldn't he wouldn't don't.
- 33:37Speaker 1: It's in the category of animals.
- 33:38Speaker 2: In the topic of conservation this extinct species, it is
- 33:44Speaker 2: also known as phylo scene. Yeah, Nate is confident. Uh,
- 33:50Speaker 2: Brody and Randall are maybe's the rest reasonably confident? Logan?
- 33:56Speaker 2: Are you ready? No?
- 33:57Speaker 1: One second?
- 33:59Speaker 2: Corey, do you have this one right?
- 34:00Speaker 4: No?
- 34:01Speaker 7: But I have an answer, Logan, I mean maybe I'm right.
- 34:14Speaker 4: God, it's something cool like a sabertooth tiger.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Man would be the care there's a track. I should
- 34:22Speaker 1: just wait, Yeah.
- 34:23Speaker 2: Just wait, go ahead and reveal your answers, Nate says,
- 34:28Speaker 2: Tasmanian tiger logan says Mammoth Randall Tasmanian tiger, Corey mammoth
- 34:35Speaker 2: Giannis Booby Tasmanian tiger. He crossed out devil. The correct
- 34:41Speaker 2: answer is Tasmanian tiger. Randall and Nate and Brody got
- 34:48Speaker 2: that one right. What do you have for flavor?
- 34:51Speaker 6: I was gonna ask if uh Willem Dafoe has made
- 34:54Speaker 6: a move in which he hunts one of these.
- 34:57Speaker 4: He has about that?
- 35:00Speaker 2: Yea, it doesn't love the movie, love to talk about
- 35:01Speaker 2: the movie. Most biologists believe Tasmanian tigers went extinct sometime
- 35:06Speaker 2: in the nineteen fifties, while others think they might have
- 35:09Speaker 2: made it into the twenty first century. One of the
- 35:11Speaker 2: most optimistic researchers is Barry Brook, a mammal ecologist from
- 35:16Speaker 2: the University of Tasmania. He believes there's a ten percent
- 35:19Speaker 2: chance that the Tasmanian tiger is still alive, but is
- 35:23Speaker 2: ready to admit their extinct if a clear photograph isn't
- 35:26Speaker 2: produced by the year twenty thirty one. For five years
- 35:30Speaker 2: left spoil. There is a picture of one on our
- 35:35Speaker 2: screen that Phil is showing us. That was one of
- 35:36Speaker 2: the last remaining ones that I think died in a zoo.
- 35:40Speaker 2: All right, here's a correct answer. Review so far. One
- 35:43Speaker 2: was forty dollars to enter a record book. Animal two,
- 35:47Speaker 2: cocone three, Outdoor Boys, YouTube Channel four, Carrying Capacity five,
- 35:54Speaker 2: Mud Skipper six, fur Fish, Game Magazine seven, Bearing Sea eight,
- 36:00Speaker 2: Band Saw nine, Tasmanian Tiger. Phil. Let's do one more
- 36:04Speaker 2: scoreboard update before question ten.
- 36:07Speaker 7: Let's take a look.
- 36:08Speaker 10: You're at this last scoreboard update. We have Logan still
- 36:12Speaker 10: with three points, Nate's got five, and the players left
- 36:16Speaker 10: in the game are Corey and Giannis.
- 36:17Speaker 9: Was sick?
- 36:18Speaker 10: Actually no, because this is question ten, So it's only
- 36:20Speaker 10: down to Randall who has seven, and Brody, who has eight.
- 36:24Speaker 2: If Brody gets this one right, he will be the winner.
- 36:28Speaker 2: Question ten, the topic is woodsmanship. Black and honey are
- 36:32Speaker 2: the two main types of this tree, which shares its
- 36:36Speaker 2: name with an insect geez an insect. Brody has it,
- 36:41Speaker 2: Nate has it, Giannis has it. Randall, Corey and Logan
- 36:47Speaker 2: not as confident. Do you have this one right right?
- 36:49Speaker 2: Randall's got it?
- 36:50Speaker 1: I think so.
- 36:51Speaker 2: Black and honey are the two main types of this tree,
- 36:54Speaker 2: which shares its name with an insect. This is the
- 36:57Speaker 2: final question. If Brody has this right, he will have
- 37:00Speaker 2: nine correct answers and the victory.
- 37:04Speaker 4: There's another honey, the honeysuckle, which I am battling after
