- 0:45Dayna Roselli: All this and more coming up now on Vegas Revealed.
- 0:51Dayna Roselli: Welcome to Vegas Revealed, episode 306.
- 0:54Dayna Roselli: It's Dana Roselli along with Sean McAllister.
- 0:58Dayna Roselli: And it just goes without saying every week.
- 1:00Dayna Roselli: We have a lot to talk about.
- 1:01Sean McAllister: Well, there's a ton to talk about.
- 1:03Sean McAllister: And I feel like a lot of people online have been talking about the Vegas loop really since uh the consumer electronics show was here, and so many people were moving around on this underground transportation system that's being drilled through Las Vegas right now.
- 1:21Dayna Roselli: Well, it's interesting because you can't see progress because it's underground.
- 1:25Sean McAllister: Right.
- 1:25Sean McAllister: You just like all of a sudden a new station pops online.
- 1:28Dayna Roselli: And that's exactly what happened.
- 1:30Dayna Roselli: We have a new station at Fountain Blue all of a sudden.
- 1:32Dayna Roselli: And we were like, wait, what?
- 1:34Dayna Roselli: But yeah, we can't see it happening.
- 1:36Dayna Roselli: So uh yeah, a new boring company, Vegas Loop Station, just opened at Fountain Blue.
- 1:41Dayna Roselli: And here's the cool part, Sean.
- 1:43Dayna Roselli: They're offering like complimentary trips for now.
- 1:48Sean McAllister: That's pretty cool.
- 1:49Dayna Roselli: So you can try it out if anyone's, you know, skeptical, wants to try it for the first time, see how it works.
- 1:55Dayna Roselli: Now's the time to do it.
- 1:56Sean McAllister: Well, people have been raving about uh the ease and the speed at which they can kind of move around through this system.
- 2:07Dayna Roselli: I know, and we took we did take it once from Resorts World to the convention center, uh the new convention center was a quick trip, but when the resorts uh world station opened, we figured, well, let's try it out.
- 2:19Dayna Roselli: And it wasn't really what we thought it would be.
- 2:22Dayna Roselli: I I feel like because we were going one way and then came out and then had to wait to go back.
- 2:28Dayna Roselli: Like, I thought it was kind of like, well, this doesn't make sense.
- 2:31Dayna Roselli: Two lanes.
- 2:32Sean McAllister: Right, but it's it's a one-way tunnel, it's a one-way tunnel, and then you go out.
- 2:36Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so we were like, oh, this is how it works.
- 2:38Dayna Roselli: And like, I don't know if it's that way for every single thing, but we were like, well, and then we were also saying, like, well, I don't know how fast it is, it's basically you know the speed of a moving car that's going the speed limit.
- 2:50Dayna Roselli: Um, but then people have raved about it.
- 2:53Dayna Roselli: Like you said, if you look at the people that use it during CES, they're saying, like, hey, it was great.
- 2:57Dayna Roselli: And so I'm interested to see as these stations open, how this whole network works and if it really is truly gonna make the process faster.
- 3:07Dayna Roselli: I think especially for people coming in for conventions.
- 3:10Sean McAllister: Yeah, and I know that they are uh well, they're doing some test runs with the air with a tunnel that goes to the airport right now.
- 3:20Sean McAllister: So once that opens up, that'll that will be a high volume route.
- 3:25Sean McAllister: And there's currently uh some construction going on on Paradise Road, which is kind of down the street from the airport, where they're apparently putting in a uh a Vegas Loop uh station, they're turning uh the old Gor Gordon Birsch building into a Vegas Loop station where you can then pick up other modes of transportation, a bus, a taxi, an Uber to do surface street stuff.
- 3:51Sean McAllister: Um but yeah, I think as more and more opens up, and I think there was just approval for the uh loop to go to downtown uh Las Vegas as well.
- 4:03Dayna Roselli: I saw them talking about that.
- 4:04Dayna Roselli: Yeah, they were gonna, you know, how it's gonna work and all that.
- 4:07Dayna Roselli: It is interesting how this whole network is gonna work.
- 4:10Dayna Roselli: Because you do think about like the airport.
- 4:12Dayna Roselli: I think about like that popular time at the airport, like when everyone's leaving their hotels, is it gonna be like this big mob of people?
- 4:18Dayna Roselli: But I don't know, maybe maybe the way the network works and moves people, it's not gonna be that way.
- 4:24Dayna Roselli: I it's so interesting to me because it's all happening underground.
- 4:28Sean McAllister: I know, right?
- 4:29Sean McAllister: Well, and I think that the thing that I think about is how uh and obviously it's all like electronically monitored where the cars are inside the tunnels, you know, what's coming, what's going, what's on the way.
- 4:45Sean McAllister: Um, like you have to like plan for that.
- 4:48Sean McAllister: It's kind of like a well-orchestrated dance.
- 4:51Sean McAllister: I guess in in you know, uh perfect working conditions, it's well orchestrated.
- 4:58Sean McAllister: So that is kind of what I wonder about when it gets up to full capacity, like how that whole choreographed dance of cars is gonna go.
- 5:10Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 5:11Dayna Roselli: Well, and you think about like who's like obviously like I don't know.
- 5:14Dayna Roselli: I don't I don't know that time locals will use it, but I don't know that it's really necessarily there for the locals, right?
- 5:21Dayna Roselli: So I was thinking because I was thinking like then you don't have to move around, like like you could go resorts world to fountain blue.
- 5:26Dayna Roselli: So say you wanted to go out to dinner at Resorts World, but you're like, oh, we have a show at Fountain Blue, we'd love to go grab a drink.
- 5:34Dayna Roselli: You don't want to go to the parking garage, get in your car, drive over to Fountain Blue, find a spot, you know what I mean?
- 5:39Dayna Roselli: Like all that.
- 5:39Dayna Roselli: So it is kind of nice for locals, and I'm sure locals will take advantage, but it's really great for everyone staying at these hotels that want to bop around to different places.
- 5:51Dayna Roselli: You want to stay somewhere, but maybe you're here for a sphere show, or you you're gonna go to you know, stay at watch a show at Park MGM, but you're staying somewhere else.
- 6:02Dayna Roselli: I mean, it's it's kind of great.
- 6:04Sean McAllister: It is, and I think it probably will be uh a lot of local workers who end up using it, people who work down on the strip, um, especially at you know, those peak times of F1 construction and traffic interruptions and all that kind of stuff.
- 6:24Sean McAllister: That could be, you know, an additional way to move around.
- 6:28Sean McAllister: Uh, you know, you add in the the monorail and you can move up above ground or down below ground.
- 6:35Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I mean, and going true, and then you know, going being able to go downtown to the arts district.
- 6:40Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 6:41Dayna Roselli: I mean, it's gonna be, you know, it great once it's done.
- 6:44Dayna Roselli: If you know, I mean, uh, people seem to be liking it already.
- 6:47Dayna Roselli: So we wish the best just to ease congestion in Las Vegas for everyone and making it easier for people to move around and have fun.
- 6:56Dayna Roselli: We support that, and uh we're up for any extra modes of transportation.
- 7:02Sean McAllister: Yeah, and big picture, I think there's uh uh in the plan, the overall grand plan for this is to have over a hundred stops on the the Vegas loop system all over uh Las Vegas.
- 7:16Sean McAllister: So we shall see.
- 7:18Dayna Roselli: We shall see.
- 7:18Dayna Roselli: So um, like I mentioned, Fountain Blue is now open.
- 7:21Dayna Roselli: It's on level V1 uh at the Fountain Blue Las Vegas South Valet.
- 7:26Dayna Roselli: So if you're interested, again, it does go to the convention center and then some other stops that are available at this stage.
- 7:34Dayna Roselli: All Vegas Loop rides to and from Fountain Blue will be introduced as complimentary for guests.
- 7:41Dayna Roselli: So I don't know how long that's gonna last, but for now, it's the time to check out the Vegas Loop and go for free.
- 7:48Sean McAllister: Well, Dana, uh, we just wrapped up an interview that I think you could say has all the right stuff.
- 7:54Dayna Roselli: I agree.
- 7:55Dayna Roselli: I think it really does.
- 7:56Dayna Roselli: And we did the interview for our TV show, but also wanted to share it here on the podcast.
- 8:01Dayna Roselli: Uh, and we're talking about our interview with John Knight of New Kids on the Block.
- 8:05Dayna Roselli: Jonathan is great.
- 8:07Dayna Roselli: We had a good chat with him.
- 8:08Dayna Roselli: They are coming back, New Kids on the Block, um, for February 14th, 15, 18, 20, 21, 25, 27, and 28 at Dolby Live at Park MGM.
- 8:18Dayna Roselli: It's a great residency show.
- 8:21Dayna Roselli: Then they're gonna come back again after that.
- 8:23Dayna Roselli: They're becoming like part of the Las Vegas landscape.
- 8:27Sean McAllister: Yeah, they're they've become regulars, and we love having new kids on the block as as performance regulars and headliners here in Las Vegas.
- 8:35Sean McAllister: And we had a great chat with John all about the residency and what he does in town when he's off stage.
- 8:44Sean McAllister: Hey.
- 8:45Dayna Roselli: Listen, I have to tell you, I saw the residency, and it is absolutely incredible.
- 8:50Dayna Roselli: I rave about it all the time because I feel like you guys use so many elements to really make it a Vegas show.
- 8:56Dayna Roselli: Was that your intention?
- 8:58SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I mean, that's the beauty of being, you know, stationary.
- 9:02SPEAKER_05: We can add so many things to the show that we can't do, you know, when we take the show on the road.
- 9:08SPEAKER_05: Um, you know, just the car, for example.
- 9:11SPEAKER_05: We have this big vintage car that I drive out on stage.
- 9:14SPEAKER_05: And um, there's just so many elements to it that are so vegas and just make it, you know, in my opinion, I think it's one of our best shows we've ever done in our 40 years of being together.
- 9:26Dayna Roselli: I'm glad you feel that way.
- 9:28Dayna Roselli: I've seen you guys many times in arenas, and it's always so good, but this was different.
- 9:32Dayna Roselli: I really felt like this is top-notch.
- 9:35Dayna Roselli: I it really is good.
- 9:37Sean McAllister: Well, I now compare other shows, especially in that theater, to what you guys do.
- 9:42Sean McAllister: I mean, I've seen all the video, you guys are floating in boxes.
- 9:46Sean McAllister: You're doing all this great stuff in there using the whole room.
- 9:49Sean McAllister: And when I go to other shows, I'm like, wait, this is all you're doing?
- 9:52Sean McAllister: Did you see what new kids can do?
- 9:55SPEAKER_05: That's awesome.
- 9:56Dayna Roselli: Now, will you guys change anything up for this, you know, newer run or this, I guess, well, you know, next leg?
- 10:03SPEAKER_05: Yeah, no, um, I mean, we we're we're known to add little things in and out, but um, you know, I think I think it it it'll remain the same.
- 10:12SPEAKER_05: But you know, the great thing about this show is it's you know, not only for new kids fans, I mean, I think anybody who's in Vegas and wants to, you know, have a night out and go see a great show, I think even if they don't know our songs, they're gonna love this show so much.
- 10:27Sean McAllister: And we were there when uh you guys married Las Vegas.
- 10:30Sean McAllister: You had your commitment ceremony, all the Vegas entertainers were in the room.
- 10:35Sean McAllister: It was quite quite an event.
- 10:37Sean McAllister: I mean, how long do you see this relationship lasting?
- 10:41SPEAKER_05: You know, I am loving being in Vegas.
- 10:44SPEAKER_05: Everything about it is just so magical, you know.
- 10:47SPEAKER_05: Um, I I hope we can, you know, continue this residency, or if not, come back with a whole new revamped Vegas, you know, show in the future.
- 10:57SPEAKER_05: But um, you know, doing the ceremony and stuff, it just it was such an honor to be in a room with all these other, you know, iconic Vegas performers.
- 11:07SPEAKER_05: And um, you know, I think that's when it really hit me that like we're here in Vegas and we're, you know, in great company with with all these other entertainers that are out there.
- 11:18Dayna Roselli: We have quite a mishmash, don't we?
- 11:21SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah, it sure is.
- 11:24SPEAKER_05: There's something for everybody.
- 11:26Dayna Roselli: There's something for everyone.
- 11:27Dayna Roselli: That's so true.
- 11:28Dayna Roselli: When you when you guys uh started out, did you because I'm a kind of like uh fly by the seat of my pants kind of person, when you were younger and you guys were huge, did you see yourself still performing now and doing this with everyone?
- 11:42SPEAKER_05: Never, never.
- 11:43SPEAKER_05: You know, in 1994 when we broke up, I was, you know, I was just like, this is it, you know, and I I really had to reinvent my myself and my career.
- 11:52SPEAKER_05: Um, and then when we got back together, we we really we just were contracted for 32 shows.
- 11:59SPEAKER_05: And we've been back together longer now than we were, you know, at our heyday in in the 80s.
- 12:06SPEAKER_05: And um, you know, just our relationship together has grown.
- 12:10SPEAKER_05: And it's it's I wish we could be grown-ups back when we were younger, just to like understand everything and appreciate it, you know.
- 12:19SPEAKER_05: It's it's just back in the day, it was just such a whirlwind, you really couldn't wrap your head around it.
- 12:24SPEAKER_05: And now, you know, now that I'm 57, it's just like I can look at it and know really what a blessing this all is.
- 12:33Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 12:33Sean McAllister: And what is the dynamic?
- 12:35Sean McAllister: How has the dynamic changed with you guys now that I mean comparing to when you know you were younger, how is the dynamic of the group changed and evolved and into how it is now?
- 12:46SPEAKER_05: It it really hasn't changed.
- 12:48SPEAKER_05: I think we are just grown now that we respect each other.
- 12:53SPEAKER_05: And you know, if there's a little bit of you know, beef going on, we can step back and and approach it as adults.
- 13:00SPEAKER_05: I mean, when we were kids, it was it was madness, you know.
- 13:03SPEAKER_05: You we didn't know what we were doing, and um, you know, we were just thrown into this crazy machine, and you know, just as adults, it's it's such it's such a different working environment with us.
- 13:16SPEAKER_05: And it's just, you know, I've known these guys since I was six years old.
- 13:21SPEAKER_05: And um, it's just it's really incredible our relationship.
- 13:26Dayna Roselli: Yeah, what a what a blessing.
- 13:28Dayna Roselli: That's cool.
- 13:28Dayna Roselli: Uh, when you visit Vegas, what do you like to do?
- 13:30Dayna Roselli: I saw on your Instagram you were hiking with Jordan or taking a walk.
- 13:34Dayna Roselli: You said you needed some some back medicine medicine after.
- 13:38SPEAKER_05: You know, I mean, Vegas, Vegas to me is a lot like New York.
- 13:41SPEAKER_05: You know, I lived in New York for 11 years and I would be there for four days, and I'm like, okay, I gotta go.
- 13:48SPEAKER_05: So um, you know, the the great thing about Vegas is you can be in Vegas in the the the craziness of it all, and then get in your car, drive a couple hours, and just be one with nature.
- 13:59SPEAKER_05: So um, you know, a lot of a lot of getting out of Vegas, but when I'm in Vegas, I've seen a lot of the shows and the restaurants are great.
- 14:07SPEAKER_05: Um, so it's just it's a great place to really have that balance of you can be in it and you can be out of it.
- 14:14SPEAKER_03: True.
- 14:15Sean McAllister: And have you, I mean, so you take the opportunity to really enjoy being here when you're off stage then.
- 14:22SPEAKER_05: Yes, yeah, it's it's amazing.
- 14:25SPEAKER_05: You know, we went to Zion National Park and um this go-around, I I want to rent a camper and just go travel and just go see things outside of of Vegas and and just really take in everything Nevada has.
- 14:39Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's interesting because we just did an interview with Travel Nevada, and they were saying they were trying to get more people to road trip, and we have like over 600 ghost towns that are really cool to visit and all sorts of stuff.
- 14:49SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that's I'm gonna look into that.
- 14:52Sean McAllister: So you can if you need an itinerary, just hit us up and we'll let you know.
- 14:57Dayna Roselli: Definitely.
- 14:58Dayna Roselli: Um, well, listen, um, we are excited for you to be back here in Las Vegas and do this show.
- 15:02Dayna Roselli: The show really is good.
- 15:04Dayna Roselli: I love that you work the room.
- 15:06Dayna Roselli: I mean, it's spread out.
- 15:08Dayna Roselli: It it's fantastic.
- 15:09Dayna Roselli: I went with a group of friends and you know, there were a couple people who were like, oh, I don't know this song, but I love it.
- 15:14Dayna Roselli: Like, like you're saying, it doesn't have to be a diehard new kids fan, although there are many, many, many of those.
- 15:19SPEAKER_05: That's cool.
- 15:20SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I'm I'm so excited to get back and get back in the groove and you know, just bring people happiness and joy.
- 15:26SPEAKER_05: You know, we need that so much in this this day and age now.
- 15:30SPEAKER_05: And you know, just escape from everyday life and and just have fun.
- 15:34Dayna Roselli: Yeah, yeah.
- 15:34Dayna Roselli: And we'll we see you on TV again with another show soon.
- 15:37Dayna Roselli: Your show was so beloved.
- 15:40SPEAKER_05: Yeah, you know, it's uh uh maybe I can't say much right now, but I I will tease it that I I did a pilot uh this past fall for HGTV, and we're we're working it out.
- 15:54SPEAKER_05: So yeah.
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: Good.
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: We hope so because people that that's a good that was a great show.
- 15:58SPEAKER_01: Loved it.
- 15:59Sean McAllister: Yeah, and yeah, I just saw you're doing some indoor gardening right now.
- 16:03Sean McAllister: I know you're back on the East Coast, it's cold.
- 16:05Sean McAllister: Yeah I I struggle with growing anything, period.
- 16:10Sean McAllister: So what's like the easiest thing that I can start growing at home here in Las Vegas?
- 16:15SPEAKER_05: And I see Vegas, well, it's cool right now.
- 16:19SPEAKER_05: Um, I don't really know the the the the the the the temperatures you could do lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, everything.
- 16:26SPEAKER_05: It's it's just don't even get me started on on gardening.
- 16:31Dayna Roselli: Well, we need to start doing that, make our food nice and clean, right?
- 16:34Dayna Roselli: Growing vegetables.
- 16:35Dayna Roselli: It's important.
- 16:36SPEAKER_05: I mean, if if I could grow stuff in my hotel room in Vegas, I would have a whole setup going on out there.
- 16:42SPEAKER_01: Now that's a TV show.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, right?
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: I think we just came up with a new pilot.
- 16:50SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 16:51Dayna Roselli: John, thanks so much.
- 16:52Dayna Roselli: We can't wait to have you back here in town.
- 16:54Dayna Roselli: And for many, many years, we hope.
- 16:56Dayna Roselli: Fingers crossed.
- 16:57SPEAKER_05: Awesome.
- 16:58SPEAKER_05: Thank you guys so much.
- 16:58SPEAKER_05: And hopefully, we'll see you guys when we're out there again.
- 17:01SPEAKER_05: Come on through and we'll say hi in person.
- 17:03Dayna Roselli: Yeah, because Sean has never actually seen the show.
- 17:05Dayna Roselli: I have.
- 17:06SPEAKER_05: I'm due.
- 17:06SPEAKER_05: All right, Sean.
- 17:07SPEAKER_05: We need to be there with you guys.
- 17:09SPEAKER_05: Right here, put you on the guest list.
- 17:11SPEAKER_01: Put them on the guest list, send them up in a box.
- 17:15Sean McAllister: Hey, thanks so much, John.
- 17:17Sean McAllister: Can't wait to see you guys back here in Vegas.
- 17:20Sean McAllister: Awesome.
- 17:20Sean McAllister: Thank you guys.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: Take care.
- 17:22Sean McAllister: All right, bye-bye.
- 17:23Dayna Roselli: All right, we don't want anyone to steal our show idea of gardening in a hotel room.
- 17:28Sean McAllister: I mean, what could it be called?
- 17:29Sean McAllister: Gardening on the go?
- 17:31Dayna Roselli: That's boring.
- 17:32Sean McAllister: Hotel Green Thumb.
- 17:34Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I don't know what to think about that.
- 17:36Sean McAllister: Yeah, we'll think about that.
- 17:37Dayna Roselli: You put me on the spot there.
- 17:38Sean McAllister: But uh what I have to say about John, such a nice guy.
- 17:43Sean McAllister: And what you uh didn't hear or see in uh the interview that we just played, so I ended up hanging up on we did a zoom interview with John, and I thought I was stopping the record, and I accidentally like hung up on him like mid-sentence.
- 18:03Sean McAllister: He was saying something to us.
- 18:04Sean McAllister: It was so rude.
- 18:05Sean McAllister: Oh my god.
- 18:06Sean McAllister: I was like, what?
- 18:08Sean McAllister: No, I just kind of stared at the computer with my mouth open.
- 18:11Sean McAllister: I was like, no.
- 18:13Sean McAllister: Next thing you know, he was calling the phone.
- 18:15Sean McAllister: So called us up to say, hey, yeah, we didn't finish our chat.
- 18:19Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 18:19Dayna Roselli: So nice.
- 18:21Dayna Roselli: Just a great guy.
- 18:22Dayna Roselli: And you, you know, hear him talk about you know his life in New Kids on the Block.
- 18:26Dayna Roselli: I mean, that's the thing.
- 18:27Dayna Roselli: It's like, you know, we were a part of their lives uh at such a young age because they started, you know, singing and performing when they were so young.
- 18:36Dayna Roselli: Uh, so many people have been along for the ride.
- 18:39Dayna Roselli: They have just songs you just love.
- 18:42Dayna Roselli: I mean, you just can't not love.
- 18:44Dayna Roselli: And that's what, like he said, it makes this residency so joyous.
- 18:48Dayna Roselli: I went and I absolutely loved it.
- 18:50Dayna Roselli: I know I talked about it in the interview, I've talked about it in the past, but you know, and I really went in not knowing what to expect because I've seen them in so many arena shows, and they were so great that I was like, well, I wonder what they'll do for this residency.
- 19:01Dayna Roselli: It'll be small and like, and it was not small at all, it's in a big theater, but they the way they use that room and all the different things that they do in there with the car on the stage and the streamers and confetti and the boxes in the air, going up to visit the balcony and say hello to everyone up there, the way that they work the audience and spread out.
- 19:22Dayna Roselli: Joey's on one side, Donnie's in the middle, John's over to the right.
- 19:25Dayna Roselli: I mean, Jordan's there.
- 19:26Dayna Roselli: And it gives every they really want to make everyone feel special, and I think that they really love it, and that is why they are successful today.
- 19:33Sean McAllister: Absolutely.
- 19:34Sean McAllister: And you can tell that they're up there having fun and enjoying themselves.
- 19:39Sean McAllister: Um, but it really is.
- 19:40Sean McAllister: Like I like I said, I now measure other shows against what new kids on the block do in their Vegas residency.
- 19:49Sean McAllister: So the the bar has been set.
- 19:51Sean McAllister: It's a great show, and it was great to talk with John.
- 19:55Sean McAllister: It really was.
- 19:56Dayna Roselli: Well, listen, if you are into music, like most people are and shows, you might want to hit up um Foreigner.
- 20:03Dayna Roselli: Actually, Lou Graham is gonna host two performances of the band's new orchestral concert series.
- 20:10Dayna Roselli: This is taking place over at the Venetian.
- 20:12Dayna Roselli: It sounds cool, March 6th and 7th.
- 20:14Dayna Roselli: And then Lou Graham is also hosting an exclusive VIP book signing event prior to both performances.
- 20:21Dayna Roselli: So there's a lot going on.
- 20:22Dayna Roselli: If you love Foreigner and Lou Graham, this would be for you.
- 20:24Sean McAllister: I mean, such great music, too.
- 20:26Sean McAllister: And Dana, did you know that Lou Graham is from uh both of our hometown of Rochester, New York?
- 20:33Dayna Roselli: I did actually.
- 20:34Dayna Roselli: I remember people always talking about him and seeing stuff, and like I must say, I wasn't a huge Foreigner fan, just didn't follow it, whatever.
- 20:42Dayna Roselli: Like all their songs when they come on the radio and everything like that.
- 20:44Dayna Roselli: But I always remember everyone talking about Lou Graham and him making appearances at places.
- 20:49Sean McAllister: See, my sister had all of the cassette tapes.
- 20:52Sean McAllister: Oh, she did.
- 20:52Sean McAllister: So I would hear her like play the songs, then you hear the plastic clicking as she turned the tape around.
- 20:58Sean McAllister: Right.
- 20:59Sean McAllister: Played side B.
- 21:00Dayna Roselli: I love that.
- 21:00Dayna Roselli: Oh, yeah.
- 21:01Dayna Roselli: Always fun and forward, and then you go too far.
- 21:04Dayna Roselli: Oh, by mistake, you pulled the tape out, and now it's ruined.
- 21:07Dayna Roselli: You've got to put your hand in the hole and turn your finger in order to get it back in.
- 21:12Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 21:13Sean McAllister: Those were the days, uh the joys of analog days, right?
- 21:17Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh, yes.
- 21:18Dayna Roselli: So much work, right?
- 21:19Sean McAllister: It was, but I loved it.
- 21:20Dayna Roselli: But um, just FYI, if you are interested in this VIP signing, uh, it's limited to just 20 guests per night.
- 21:28Dayna Roselli: And it includes a VIP meet and greet with Graham, a personalized copy of his book, Jukebox Hero, and a photo opportunity.
- 21:36Dayna Roselli: And tickets are available to ticket holders for the 6th and the 7th of March performances and priced at 250 plus tax.
- 21:44Dayna Roselli: So FYI if you want to meet Lou Graham.
- 21:47Sean McAllister: I actually have that his book, Jukebox Hero, on my on my bookshelf.
- 21:51Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 21:52Sean McAllister: So it's a it's a good one, and you should uh, if you can, do the VIP meet and greet, get the book, say hi to Lou, he's a good guy.
- 22:01Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 22:02Dayna Roselli: Hey, we have a new tour in town.
- 22:04Dayna Roselli: I mean, lip smacking foodie tours are not new, but they always add in new experiences and new kinds of tours.
- 22:10Dayna Roselli: And this one uh is really cool.
- 22:12Dayna Roselli: It's actually gonna focus on the top five craft cocktail bars in the arts district.
- 22:17Sean McAllister: Yeah, and if you're not familiar with the lip smacking foodie tours, uh it started out as a a downtown Las Vegas tour that is kind of like a uh a dine around concept.
- 22:30Sean McAllister: You hop around to different restaurants, you have uh different dishes that are uh kind of pre-selected at each spot.
- 22:38Sean McAllister: But by the end of the night, you've had a full meal with some drinks, and you're also walking around downtown and seeing parts of Las Vegas that you wouldn't have uh otherwise maybe seen.
- 22:52Sean McAllister: And then they expanded to the strip and had some other experiences as well.
- 22:57Sean McAllister: So uh they are constantly, like you said, adding uh new dining experiences.
- 23:03Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and I think the great thing is that when you show up to each spot, they're they're waiting for you.
- 23:07Dayna Roselli: It's like, you know, it's like your own personal reservation to all these places as a VIP.
- 23:13Sean McAllister: You don't have to put in your order, you don't have to do all that.
- 23:16Sean McAllister: When the group arrives, the dishes start coming out.
- 23:20Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 23:21Dayna Roselli: Well, this is a two-hour experience.
- 23:22Dayna Roselli: It begins at 8:30 p.m.
- 23:24Dayna Roselli: So this is a nighttime kind of fun hop around.
- 23:27Dayna Roselli: You gotta be 21 years and over because obviously we're focusing on uh craft cocktails here.
- 23:33Dayna Roselli: But like all of the experiences, uh, this one does come with the VIP service from start to finish.
- 23:39Dayna Roselli: So you gain immediate entry into the five establishments where long lines are usually the norm, and you jump the line and you're ready to go.
- 23:47Dayna Roselli: And here's the list of bars.
- 23:50Dayna Roselli: I was looking through these going, okay, I really need to get downtown more often.
- 23:54Sean McAllister: I know.
- 23:54Sean McAllister: There's so many new places that are really cool.
- 23:58Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 23:58Dayna Roselli: So the evening begins at Nocturne, and apparently it's a Nocturno is a semifinalist this year for Best New Bar in the United States by the James Beard Foundation.
- 24:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:08Dayna Roselli: So this is apparently also a first for any bar in Vegas.
- 24:12Dayna Roselli: So this is the first stop.
- 24:13Dayna Roselli: That's a get.
- 24:14Sean McAllister: It really is.
- 24:15Sean McAllister: Uh the Doberman Drawing Room is another stop on the tour, and this is a relatively new uh addition to downtown Las Vegas.
- 24:25Sean McAllister: It's got kind of an old school vibe, really cool uh interiors and really creative cocktail program in there, too.
- 24:34Dayna Roselli: Yeah, a lot of people rave about it.
- 24:35Dayna Roselli: I haven't been yet.
- 24:36Dayna Roselli: Um, then we're going, uh, well, I say we're going.
- 24:38Dayna Roselli: If I were on the tour, we'd be going uh to CC Speakeasy.
- 24:42Dayna Roselli: And apparently this is a hidden hideaway inside a real ice cream parlor.
- 24:47Dayna Roselli: Um, so that it sounds fun.
- 24:48Dayna Roselli: Uh I've seen actually pictures of this too.
- 24:50Dayna Roselli: And then you're gonna take a walk on the wild side at Prowl, which is a cheeky cocktail lounge with lava rock walls, where an animated panther on a screen behind the bar seems to follow your every move.
- 25:05Dayna Roselli: Um, it's inspired by Elvis' Jungle Room at Graceland.
- 25:08Dayna Roselli: So this sounds great.
- 25:09Dayna Roselli: And so I'm reading this going, Sean, where have we been?
- 25:12Dayna Roselli: We need to bar hop.
- 25:13Sean McAllister: Uh we really do.
- 25:14Sean McAllister: And then the final stop is at Viking Mike's uh that gives you the vibe of a Nordic yurt in the wintertime, but it's not in the winter.
- 25:24Sean McAllister: I mean, it's the wintertime, but it's a Nordic yurt right here in the desert.
- 25:28Dayna Roselli: I love it.
- 25:29Sean McAllister: And that's relatively new too.
- 25:30Dayna Roselli: Um, so they have a guide for you.
- 25:32Dayna Roselli: Uh you go with each uh you go around to each place and you'll have like, you know, little entertaining facts and stories.
- 25:38Dayna Roselli: So I mean it's it sounds great for locals or visitors.
- 25:42Dayna Roselli: Um, let's go back to the price because this you're getting a lot here.
- 25:45Dayna Roselli: Let's see, with special uh hovering around um this experience, which includes all taxes and venue gratuities, can't be beat.
- 25:51Dayna Roselli: Okay, it's at 90 it's$99 a person.
- 25:55Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 25:56Sean McAllister: I mean, listen, if you're gonna hop around and have a cocktail at a bunch of these different bars on your own, you're spending more than that.
- 26:04Dayna Roselli: You are for sure.
- 26:06Dayna Roselli: So great.
- 26:07Dayna Roselli: Two-hour experience and and get to hit up all these places and don't have to wait in line.
- 26:12Dayna Roselli: Love it.
- 26:13Dayna Roselli: All right.
- 26:13Dayna Roselli: Well, if you want to check out um this tour or many of the others, you can look up Lip Smackin' Foodie tours.
- 26:20Dayna Roselli: They have a lot of different experiences available.
- 26:22Sean McAllister: And by the way, that could be a great idea for Valentine's Day.
- 26:26Sean McAllister: If you want to get out, do something different, have be around a group of people, make new friends, have some sip on some cocktails, or do one of the other experiences.
- 26:37Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 26:37Dayna Roselli: It really could be great.
- 26:38Dayna Roselli: I mean, there's so many, we have so many things in town.
- 26:41Dayna Roselli: It's we really do and like we did Super Bowl last week, and we were like, I mean, it was just like the like literally the tip of the ice.
- 26:48Sean McAllister: Oh, the list of everything there is to do.
- 26:50Sean McAllister: Right.
- 26:50Dayna Roselli: So we were like, okay, we're gonna put in some Valentine's ideas.
- 26:53Dayna Roselli: But I mean, even that, I mean, there's just a few that people have sent over, and I thought, okay, let's get this in.
- 26:58Dayna Roselli: Um, but you know, the Link Promenade's a great spot, and uh they have a restaurant there called Flower and Barley, and they're doing heart-shaped pepperoni pizzas with rose for$29.
- 27:09Dayna Roselli: Ooh, yeah, I thought that was a good deal, right?
- 27:11Sean McAllister: That is a good deal.
- 27:12Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and who doesn't love a little rose and pizza?
- 27:15Sean McAllister: I don't know that I've ever paired those together.
- 27:18Dayna Roselli: It's really good.
- 27:18Dayna Roselli: Well, it's good, especially if it's warm out.
- 27:20Dayna Roselli: Okay, the rose is like chill.
- 27:21Dayna Roselli: Right, nice and crisp.
- 27:23Dayna Roselli: It kind of classes up your your pizza.
- 27:26Dayna Roselli: Oh, you know what I mean?
- 27:27Dayna Roselli: Little refreshing thing.
- 27:29Sean McAllister: Does it work with Papa John's too?
- 27:30Dayna Roselli: I mean, I think it could.
- 27:32Dayna Roselli: I do.
- 27:32Dayna Roselli: I think if it's cold outside and you're ordering a pizza and watching a game, like a soda or a beer would be better.
- 27:39Dayna Roselli: But if it's a sunny day, like it's been in Las Vegas, literally in the 60s and 70s, I feel like for weeks, um, it's beautiful.
- 27:46Dayna Roselli: Set outside, glass of rose, pizza.
- 27:49Sean McAllister: Well, I'll have to add that to my uh my menu inspiration board.
- 27:54Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 27:55Dayna Roselli: Um, and then Honolulu Cookie Company is over there, and they're doing some different kinds of gift ideas.
- 28:01Dayna Roselli: They've got small pink XOXO heart boxes and their seasonal yuzu flavor.
- 28:07Dayna Roselli: I don't know if I'm saying that right.
- 28:08Dayna Roselli: Do you know?
- 28:09SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 28:09SPEAKER_03: Is Yuzu?
- 28:10Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 28:10Dayna Roselli: Perfect for gifting.
- 28:12Dayna Roselli: They got a um, and then the Mexican restaurant over there, Chayo, is doing a surf and turf, shrimp and crab empanadas, raspberry swirled cheesecake.
- 28:21Dayna Roselli: Lots of options at Lynx Promenade.
- 28:24Sean McAllister: And then over at Venetian, uh, Close Company is doing kind of a Valentine themed pop-up over there with a bunch of different uh cocktails on their menu.
- 28:37Sean McAllister: They have a mighty Aphrodite, they've got a Say Anything.
- 28:42Sean McAllister: That's a whiskey-based drink.
- 28:44Sean McAllister: Um, the stupid Cupid.
- 28:47Dayna Roselli: I like that one.
- 28:48Dayna Roselli: That's my drink right there.
- 28:49Sean McAllister: They have another one, the P.S.
- 28:51Sean McAllister: I love you.
- 28:52Sean McAllister: So some uh really cute uh cocktail ideas.
- 28:56Sean McAllister: They are open.
- 28:58Sean McAllister: Uh so this is special, it goes from February 4th to the 22nd.
- 29:03Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so it's like an all-month-long thing.
- 29:04Dayna Roselli: I love that.
- 29:05Sean McAllister: And starting in the afternoon, so you could go for happy hour at four all the way through midnight, um, and you'll find that at the Via Via Food Hall over at Venetian.
- 29:15Sean McAllister: Just look for those big heart-shaped balloons.
- 29:17Dayna Roselli: And then I did see in there that it says hotel guests in Las Vegas locals enjoy a$10 specialty cocktails all month long.
- 29:24Dayna Roselli: Ooh.
- 29:24Dayna Roselli: So that's a deal.
- 29:25Dayna Roselli: That is a great deal.
- 29:26Dayna Roselli: So I thought throw that in there.
- 29:28Dayna Roselli: I mean, you know, you know, if you're visiting Las Vegas and you're coming specifically for Valentine's Day, there are the staple places and the romantic things you can do.
- 29:36Dayna Roselli: Go to the top of the Eiffel Tower, you can go on the you know, gondola at the Venetian, stroll around the Bellagio Conservatory, all our lobbies and really atriums in our hotels are great.
- 29:48Dayna Roselli: So, I mean, there's tons to do.
- 29:50Sean McAllister: Yeah, I think I think that Bavett's steakhouse at Park MGM is a really great uh like romantic kind of steakhouse vibe too.
- 30:02Dayna Roselli: Um you have to make a reserve.
- 30:03Dayna Roselli: I since we've chatted about bevettes, I've gone done a loop twice.
- 30:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 30:09Dayna Roselli: And I cannot get a you just can't you can't get into bevettes.
- 30:12Dayna Roselli: Well, and it's mostly when there's uh I'll I must say, and this is probably why, people don't plan ahead.
- 30:19Dayna Roselli: You think last minute you're gonna go to a show at Park GM uh MGM in the theater, or you're gonna go over to T-Mobile for an event, and you're like, oh, I'll hit up Bavettes before, but I didn't go on and make a reservation the day at the day of it's already booked.
- 30:31Dayna Roselli: Maybe I can walk in and get a seat, and then you can't get a seat at the bar or something.
- 30:34Dayna Roselli: Just always slamming over there.
- 30:36Sean McAllister: Have you ever been to the like the hidden bar?
- 30:39Dayna Roselli: I have.
- 30:39Dayna Roselli: I went once after an NBA game, NBA Cup game.
- 30:42Dayna Roselli: I didn't even know it was there.
- 30:43Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 30:44Dayna Roselli: And we ate at the bar.
- 30:45Sean McAllister: It's like tucked back behind the dining room.
- 30:48Sean McAllister: So you walk all the way through the dining room.
- 30:51Sean McAllister: There's like a little hallway on the right side, and it brings you into another little bar area.
- 30:56Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 30:57Dayna Roselli: And I got excited.
- 30:58Dayna Roselli: Well, we had room that night, but the that was after something.
- 31:01Sean McAllister: But I now people are gonna be looking for it.
- 31:03Dayna Roselli: Well, I walk there all the time to try and see if there's room.
- 31:08Dayna Roselli: Anyway, it's always packed.
- 31:09Dayna Roselli: It is.
- 31:09Dayna Roselli: So I'm like, the hidden room is not so hidden.
- 31:11Sean McAllister: No, it's not.
- 31:13Sean McAllister: All the hidden gems become known sooner or later.
- 31:16Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh.
- 31:17Dayna Roselli: All right.
- 31:18Dayna Roselli: Well, it's time for some celebrity news with a Vegas twist.
- 31:23Sean McAllister: Well, when we talk about celebrities, uh, I don't know that there are many names bigger than Oprah Winfrey.
- 31:32Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 31:33Dayna Roselli: I I agree.
- 31:34Dayna Roselli: And she was here in town eating at one of our popular Thai restaurants called Lotus of Siam.
- 31:41Dayna Roselli: And um a picture's been out there on Instagram, and it's been just fun to see that she stopped at I I am assuming she was at the one on East Flamingo.
- 31:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 31:52Dayna Roselli: Um, not the one at Red Rock, but um, because that's what it looks like, but it doesn't specify in the photo.
- 31:58Sean McAllister: And I like to think that she was because that's kind of around the corner from where I live.
- 32:04Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 32:05Sean McAllister: And did it to know that Oprah was just right around the corner?
- 32:08Sean McAllister: Like, man.
- 32:09Dayna Roselli: I know, right?
- 32:10Dayna Roselli: Well, we did go to the opening of the sphere and she was there.
- 32:12Dayna Roselli: Remember that?
- 32:13Dayna Roselli: Yes, I do remember that.
- 32:15Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I mean, we weren't in the exact vicinity, but we were not in the block booth.
- 32:20Dayna Roselli: No, but the sphere was there, and we were there too.
- 32:24Dayna Roselli: So that was close enough, right?
- 32:25Dayna Roselli: I did go to Oprah show once in Chicago, though, too.
- 32:28Dayna Roselli: And Annette Benning was the person that was on that day.
- 32:31Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I remember it was a big old, it was freezing in Chicago when me and my friends flew in.
- 32:36Dayna Roselli: Absolutely freezing.
- 32:37Dayna Roselli: But we went to see Oprah anyway.
- 32:39Dayna Roselli: Um, Lotus of Siam.
- 32:40Dayna Roselli: She went there, and let's see.
- 32:42Dayna Roselli: Now, Penny, I'm looking up Penny who posted about I gotta find it, so keep talking.
- 32:47Dayna Roselli: Talk about something.
- 32:48Dayna Roselli: I'm gonna find something.
- 32:49Sean McAllister: Well, Lotus of Siam is has been like a staple in Las Vegas uh for a long, long time.
- 32:56Sean McAllister: They had uh their original restaurant over in commercial center off of East Sahara.
- 33:03Sean McAllister: Um, then they opened up the location on Flamingo and the newest location uh out at Red Rock Hotel and Casino.
- 33:13Sean McAllister: Um I go to the one here on uh Flamingo, and it's always so good.
- 33:21Sean McAllister: Yeah, it is great.
- 33:22Sean McAllister: It's just delicious food.
- 33:23Sean McAllister: The staff is always wonderful.
- 33:26Sean McAllister: It's great.
- 33:27Sean McAllister: But Penny is um it's her family that owns it.
- 33:31Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 33:32Dayna Roselli: And she posted the picture with Oprah and you know, thanked her for coming by, and so it was it was cool.
- 33:37Dayna Roselli: Um, love to see that.
- 33:39Dayna Roselli: Definitely a good little celebrity moment there.
- 33:42Dayna Roselli: Um, also, I went to see the new edition Way Tour over at T-Mobile, and let me tell you, I've seen New Edition a few times at their residency, which I absolutely love.
- 33:55Dayna Roselli: But um this arena show, I I posted some videos and like it's going crazy how people are into this.
- 34:04Dayna Roselli: The new edition Way Tour includes Boys to Men and Tony Braxton, along with New Edition, and already New Edition is made up of so many different Bell Bib DeVoe, because they started as New Edition and then people went off on their.
- 34:17Dayna Roselli: So then we got Bobby Brown and his solo stuff.
- 34:19Dayna Roselli: You've got Bell Bib De Vaux, and so it was a great tour.
- 34:22Dayna Roselli: Um, it was at T-Mobile, it was sold out.
- 34:25Dayna Roselli: The DJ before was great playing all the old school jams.
- 34:28Dayna Roselli: I was actually showing the audience and put it on my personal TikTok, and it's like going crazy.
- 34:33Dayna Roselli: People are like, now this looks like a good party pre-show.
- 34:36Dayna Roselli: And you know, they were doing the butt and all that kind of stuff.
- 34:39SPEAKER_03: Doing the butt.
- 34:40Dayna Roselli: Um, and the crowd was going crazy.
- 34:42Dayna Roselli: So it was a great vibe.
- 34:43Dayna Roselli: Um, but it was great to see uh all the the new edition with Boys to Men and Bobby Brown.
- 34:50Dayna Roselli: Tony Braxton got emotional on stage.
- 34:52Dayna Roselli: She said, you know, I've had a uh she's she's had suffered with some uh health issues um that were really serious, and then her sister also passed away.
- 35:01Dayna Roselli: So she's had a tough time.
- 35:02Dayna Roselli: So she was very emotional and actually couldn't even get through one song.
- 35:05Dayna Roselli: She started tearing up because she's so grateful to be back on stage.
- 35:08Sean McAllister: Oh, I love that.
- 35:10Sean McAllister: I love that she is back on stage.
- 35:11Dayna Roselli: Me too.
- 35:12Dayna Roselli: And people are really loving it on social media, you know, just cheering her on and happy that she's out there singing again.
- 35:19Dayna Roselli: Um, Bobby Brown did some solo stuff, but the Vegas uh celebrity news with a twist.
- 35:24Dayna Roselli: I went backstage to say hi to an acquaintance of mine, Johnny Gill, who's in New Edition.
- 35:28Dayna Roselli: Yeah, people know who Johnny is.
- 35:30Dayna Roselli: Uh they're a friend of a friend and blah, blah, blah.
- 35:33Dayna Roselli: So we went back to say hi to Johnny.
- 35:34Dayna Roselli: That was great.
- 35:35Dayna Roselli: And then um New Edition came out.
- 35:37Dayna Roselli: We're like, hey, should we get ready for the show?
- 35:38Dayna Roselli: It's probably time to change.
- 35:39Dayna Roselli: So I had a little moment with Bobby Brown.
- 35:41Dayna Roselli: Um, he had a beautiful photo of him and his daughter on around his neck, and um, it was a beautiful necklace.
- 35:48Dayna Roselli: And so I went over and I was like, uh, Bobby, this is stunning.
- 35:52Dayna Roselli: And I loved it because it was in color.
- 35:54Dayna Roselli: A lot of times you see though, there's they're in black and white.
- 35:56SPEAKER_03: Right, yeah.

- 42:23Dayna Roselli: So maybe it's advanced since then because ever since then I never went back.
- 42:26Sean McAllister: Oh yeah, I usually go to uh bingo rooms at station casino properties and the electronic boards they have there, you just set it up, you pick what your what you want your color scheme to be, what you want your little dauber symbol to be, and then you just sit back and enjoy your drinks.

- 43:04Dayna Roselli: And I had a bingo bag, and sometimes my brother would daub my head and not like sneak it in and then like laugh because I couldn't get it off until the end.
- 43:18Sean McAllister: Oh, let's hope someone doesn't daub your head at Circus Circus.
- 43:21Dayna Roselli: I might daub your head just for fun, see what's going on.
