- 0:08Speaker 1: Welcome to the Favorite the podcast from the Action Network. Guy,
- 0:14Speaker 1: Am Chad Milman. Black Jack Fletcher is in the studio
- 0:18Speaker 1: with me today, and we were in the studio together
- 0:21Speaker 1: in Las Vegas last week. And we were in Las
- 0:24Speaker 1: Vegas together for UM a couple of days last week,
- 0:27Speaker 1: and we have a banner banner show. Um. First off,
- 0:33Speaker 1: we've got a huge ad read today. See see if
- 0:38Speaker 1: you can figure out who it is from my double entendre.
- 0:40Speaker 1: But of all our advertisers, this is the one who
- 0:43Speaker 1: was liked one of my tweets. A gigantic, pulsating ad read,
- 0:47Speaker 1: and so that's exciting. So stick around for that, uh
- 0:51Speaker 1: number one number two. Later in the show, our new
- 0:54Speaker 1: baseball contributor Shawn Zarrillo is going to join us. Shawn's
- 0:57Speaker 1: first time on the podcast. Listen, guy, He's got a
- 1:00Speaker 1: great story. I'm super excited black Jack. Do you know
- 1:02Speaker 1: his background? Nope, just met him today. His dad was
- 1:06Speaker 1: a cop for like forty years. That's nice. I don't
- 1:09Speaker 1: really like cops, but whatever. Black Jack just got off
- 1:13Speaker 1: a red eye from Vegas after eight days. He's not
- 1:15Speaker 1: feeling like he's in a mood. I'm feeling great. I'm
- 1:18Speaker 1: two drinks and I'm doing good. Shawn seems like a
- 1:22Speaker 1: nice guy. Shaun's a great guy, super smart about baseball.
- 1:24Speaker 1: We're gonna talk about season win totals and he's gonna
- 1:28Speaker 1: light it up for us. Light it up. Don't do that,
- 1:31Speaker 1: don't do that. Can we start this thing already? First
- 1:34Speaker 1: up on the show, we're gonna start with some March
- 1:37Speaker 1: Madness recap. We're gonna launch into the Sweet sixteen before
- 1:42Speaker 1: we get to Mike Randall, action network writer extraordinaire um
- 1:48Speaker 1: who helped me go nine into Friday, Saturday Sunday six
- 1:51Speaker 1: and oh Saturday Sunday, here's a story for you. On
- 1:56Speaker 1: Saturday night, I went to the to the games in
- 1:59Speaker 1: Hertford and sat down as me, my wife, and two
- 2:03Speaker 1: of our friends. We sat down and I started rooting
- 2:05Speaker 1: for the Seminals and the kids in front of me,
- 2:07Speaker 1: they were like twelve years old. I don't know who
- 2:09Speaker 1: they are. They're like, they're rooting for John Morant and
- 2:11Speaker 1: they're like, why are you rooting for the Seminals. I'm like,
- 2:14Speaker 1: because I'm gonna make a lot of freaking money if
- 2:16Speaker 1: the Seminals win this game, and I am buying all
- 2:19Speaker 1: of you cotton candy, and they all became seminal fans.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Here's the fucking worst. Speaking of the worst, Um, black Jack,
- 2:30Speaker 1: I'm gonna buy you some cotton candy. You don't sound
- 2:32Speaker 1: like a pedophile, black Jack. Uh. We had a couple
- 2:35Speaker 1: of bets against each other some reason, my Venmo account
- 2:40Speaker 1: has not dinged with the payoffs and I can't five days.
- 2:43Speaker 1: I need to pay you another way. I can't send
- 2:46Speaker 1: Venmos because you're not allowed anymore. I got a new
- 2:48Speaker 1: phone and it locked me out. I don't know how
- 2:50Speaker 1: to get back into it. So give me the fucking cash.
- 2:52Speaker 1: But whatever they will, whatever it is, so give it
- 2:54Speaker 1: to me. Well, I don't have it on me chat
- 2:56Speaker 1: because I don't walk around with cash. How long does
- 2:59Speaker 1: it take to pay a bet? You hold on on
- 3:07Speaker 1: me in cash? The down payment? I want you? All right, fine,
- 3:10Speaker 1: I'll take it. You still owe me money? Uh? You
- 3:12Speaker 1: also stuck you two thousand dollars. Yeah that one. Uh,
- 3:16Speaker 1: we we talked about that one. I'm actually visiting Stucky
- 3:19Speaker 1: on Sunday, going down to Kentucky, so paying him then? Alright? Good? Uh.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Stucky and Blackjack made a two thousand dollar bet on
- 3:26Speaker 1: U C Irvine and Kansas State on Wednesday night at
- 3:30Speaker 1: our massive Action Network party. We do have to spend
- 3:33Speaker 1: a few minutes talking about that. That was an amazing
- 3:35Speaker 1: event and we appreciate everybody who came out. We didn't
- 3:38Speaker 1: know what was going to happen with that. It was
- 3:39Speaker 1: a little bit like the podcast we did. We didn't
- 3:41Speaker 1: know how many people were going to come out, We
- 3:43Speaker 1: didn't know what the attendance was going to be. And
- 3:45Speaker 1: we had a freaking line for that thing that the
- 3:48Speaker 1: entire night match capacity was five and we had five. Hey, Randall,
- 3:53Speaker 1: can you put yourself on mute or something until I'm
- 3:55Speaker 1: done with my soliloquy. Yeah, Mike, this show isn't about you.
- 4:00Speaker 1: It's about Chad. Thank you. Um. We had like five
- 4:04Speaker 1: hundred people in the place the whole night. There was
- 4:06Speaker 1: a line before it opened, and the line lasted the
- 4:10Speaker 1: entire night. It did, it did, it was. It was
- 4:12Speaker 1: a great time. Uh, good times were had by all.
- 4:15Speaker 1: I put all of my drinks on your tab. Is
- 4:17Speaker 1: that why my tab was so big? Well? Jeff Schwartz
- 4:19Speaker 1: also put all his food on it, so it was massive.
- 4:23Speaker 1: I'm like, what is going on here? To be fair,
- 4:25Speaker 1: Patrick told us too, so we were listen CEO at
- 4:31Speaker 1: the end of the day, he pays for it. Yeah,
- 4:33Speaker 1: so that happened. Um yeah, me and Stuck. He had
- 4:36Speaker 1: a bet money line at k State. He had to revine.
- 4:40Speaker 1: The funny thing is we were sitting there watching the
- 4:41Speaker 1: game together and I could only watch it with Stucky
- 4:43Speaker 1: for about five minutes. Um, and he he turned to me,
- 4:46Speaker 1: He's like, you know, this was a terrible bet that
- 4:48Speaker 1: I made. He's like, this is an awful bet. And
- 4:50Speaker 1: the game was probably the worst game to watch of
- 4:53Speaker 1: the tournament. Like, it was dreadful. Kansas State just could
- 4:58Speaker 1: not get into the lane to do anything. They just
- 5:01Speaker 1: chucked bad three after bad three. Irvine went through stretches
- 5:05Speaker 1: where they couldn't make anything. It was a terrible game
- 5:07Speaker 1: to watch, let alone have two thousand dollars on awful. Awful.
- 5:12Speaker 1: But the party was fantastic. Yeah, the party was good.
- 5:14Speaker 1: So great to see our fans, great to see like
- 5:16Speaker 1: the people who love the Action Network. Great to be
- 5:18Speaker 1: a part of the company. Overall, it was a huge,
- 5:21Speaker 1: huge knife for us. We were really pleased with everything
- 5:23Speaker 1: that happened. Shout out to our guys from Oklahoma, boys
- 5:26Speaker 1: from Oklahoma. We'd a group of guys come in from
- 5:28Speaker 1: Oklahoma that we're ready to roll. They were amazing. They
- 5:33Speaker 1: were just amazing. Uh, I disagree with you. The worst
- 5:37Speaker 1: game of the tournament this uh the other night. Um,
- 5:42Speaker 1: who the hell played last night? Houston? UH beat somebody
- 5:47Speaker 1: by nine. I had Ohio State, had Ohio State. That
- 5:50Speaker 1: was rough. Virginia Tech. That was a rough game. Who
- 5:53Speaker 1: do they beat? They beat somebody too? You mean in
- 5:56Speaker 1: the first round, second round, there was no flow in
- 6:00Speaker 1: that game. I mean these were games where I like
- 6:01Speaker 1: had to sweat a little bit, so I was, you know,
- 6:03Speaker 1: aunty until the end. The only thing I sweat was
- 6:05Speaker 1: Virginia against Oklahoma because I put a bunch on Virginia
- 6:10Speaker 1: to get back some of the money. I I oh
- 6:12Speaker 1: stucky and Virginia. Listen, I've got Virginia winning the whole thing,
- 6:16Speaker 1: so do you. But I've never seen a team that
- 6:19Speaker 1: just screws around more at times than Virginia does. Like
- 6:22Speaker 1: when they're locked in, they're really really good defensively, they
- 6:27Speaker 1: can move the ball offensively, but they go through stretches
- 6:30Speaker 1: where they just funk around and like they lose interest,
- 6:32Speaker 1: it seems like, and they allow these runs to happen,
- 6:36Speaker 1: and it is maddening. I agree, thank you. Let's also
- 6:42Speaker 1: give a shout out to Stuckies squire, as everybody knows
- 6:45Speaker 1: Stucky of the Action Network is one of our favorite guys.
- 6:48Speaker 1: We had a had a suite at the Westgate. Thank
- 6:52Speaker 1: you to Jake Cornegie in the West Gate for the
- 6:54Speaker 1: suite at the West Gate. And so we were there
- 6:56Speaker 1: all four days. Uh Contra Notty Jack Settlement. Evan Abraham's
- 7:00Speaker 1: lat Chack was there, Paula Duca Stucky, great crew, right,
- 7:03Speaker 1: Jeff was there, Jeff Schwartz was there as well, and
- 7:06Speaker 1: amazing crew. But I showed up there early Thursday morning
- 7:10Speaker 1: and Stuck he was there by himself with one other
- 7:12Speaker 1: guy he had adopted, and and he's like, he's like,
- 7:15Speaker 1: meet Alex, He's going to be our squire, Mike, what
- 7:18Speaker 1: does this mean. He's like, he's going to be sort
- 7:20Speaker 1: of my assistant. The best way to describe what he
- 7:24Speaker 1: was is, at one point, um Stucky wanted some in
- 7:27Speaker 1: and out there. Obviously he's not an in and out
- 7:30Speaker 1: in the West Gate. So he sent this kid in
- 7:32Speaker 1: an uber and he brought back a giant box of
- 7:36Speaker 1: like twenty burgers and twenty fries from In and Out
- 7:40Speaker 1: just because Stucky sent him. I mean it. I mean
- 7:42Speaker 1: credit to Stucky, I guess. But for that, for that,
- 7:46Speaker 1: credit to Patrick Keane who told him to go by
- 7:49Speaker 1: In and Out and he was he was hungry. Patty
- 7:51Speaker 1: was hungry, Hatty, Mike Randolph mac he did have a
- 7:55Speaker 1: great time. It was Listen, it was a great trip
- 7:57Speaker 1: for all of us. Mike Randall, are you there? Are
- 7:59Speaker 1: you off of mute yet? What is your deal? I'm waiting.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I'm waiting to do is I'm I'm told here, you
- 8:04Speaker 1: guys are eight days in the Vegas. I'm just listening
- 8:06Speaker 1: to Mike. That's how life with with Chad is. You're
- 8:10Speaker 1: just waiting from the stop talking. It's not right. Nice
- 8:16Speaker 1: The favorite podcast from the Action Network. Full of Love
- 8:19Speaker 1: and laughter in the Euro of Kindness. Yeah you're so kind,
- 8:22Speaker 1: Mike Randall, Sweet sixteen. Handicap it for me right now.
- 8:27Speaker 1: Give me your power ratings as we speak, vague question.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Give me with the power ratings. Well, I happen to
- 8:36Speaker 1: have put them out. The best team left, gentleman is
- 8:39Speaker 1: North Carolina. They are the ones without any sort of
- 8:43Speaker 1: weakness that are peaking at the right time, and they
- 8:46Speaker 1: have matchups here in the Midwest region that our tailor
- 8:49Speaker 1: made for them. Auburn is gonna want to run up
- 8:52Speaker 1: and down the floor. They're gonna be like a bunch
- 8:54Speaker 1: of crazed dogs. They're homing at the mouth. Great, we'll
- 8:56Speaker 1: run with you. And then the winner of that game
- 8:59Speaker 1: is going to get huge. Din Or Kentucky, Kentucky maybe
- 9:01Speaker 1: without p J. Washington, who knows what he's coming back,
- 9:04Speaker 1: And Houston's who's gonna who's gonna want to be physical
- 9:06Speaker 1: with them as well. So Number one for me is
- 9:08Speaker 1: North Carolina. Number two, you can call him boring down screen,
- 9:12Speaker 1: backscreen uv A. But I think as this goes on,
- 9:16Speaker 1: this tournament gets on, they're gonna get stronger and stronger.
- 9:19Speaker 1: And I saw that John Ewing, our own John Ewing
- 9:21Speaker 1: here put a very interesting tweet out about them going
- 9:23Speaker 1: into the next round. He talked about the fact that
- 9:27Speaker 1: u v A is favored by eight and a half
- 9:29Speaker 1: in the next round over Oregon. They are twenty six
- 9:31Speaker 1: and oh straight up and sixteen and eight against the
- 9:33Speaker 1: spread when playing a team outside the Ken Palm Top fifteen. Oregon,
- 9:38Speaker 1: of course, is twenty eight so they are number two
- 9:40Speaker 1: in my power ratings. I think that they have a
- 9:42Speaker 1: good path to Tony Bennett redemption tour is a thing, gentleman,
- 9:45Speaker 1: and I think that's going to continue. Very reluctantly, I'll
- 9:49Speaker 1: put Duke number three. I mean, they don't shoot the
- 9:53Speaker 1: three well, they don't shoot free throws, and they absolutely
- 9:55Speaker 1: should have lost the UCF. What a frustrating game that
- 9:58Speaker 1: was that Ali, you should have never been throne. But
- 10:01Speaker 1: now you're looking at a path here for Duke where
- 10:03Speaker 1: they're gonna play Virginia Tech, who they're familiar with, and
- 10:06Speaker 1: the potentially Michigan State or l s U. So I
- 10:08Speaker 1: have them three and finishing off the top four, I'm
- 10:11Speaker 1: gonna put Texas Tech. I think Texas Tech had the
- 10:14Speaker 1: most impressive win of the weekend over a really good
- 10:16Speaker 1: Buffalo team who could have made the Final four if
- 10:19Speaker 1: they didn't play Texas Tech. Chris Beard has that team
- 10:22Speaker 1: playing lockdown defense and their offense and three point shooting
- 10:25Speaker 1: is explosive. So I have them number four. That I
- 10:28Speaker 1: like it a lot. U n C is a five
- 10:31Speaker 1: and a half point favor against Auburn. Uh you like
- 10:35Speaker 1: them number one overall? Do you like them as a
- 10:37Speaker 1: five and a half point favorite, So I do I
- 10:40Speaker 1: think the Auburn train here. Remember Auburn was a team
- 10:43Speaker 1: for most of the year that struggled on the road,
- 10:45Speaker 1: that didn't do well on the road. And listen, they've
- 10:47Speaker 1: been hot lately and been on fire. But remember this
- 10:50Speaker 1: was a team in the second half there against Kansas.
- 10:53Speaker 1: They can go streaks where they shut down and they
- 10:56Speaker 1: don't score. North Carolina doesn't have that problem. Kobe White
- 10:59Speaker 1: is playing at a ridiculous levels of point guard right now,
- 11:02Speaker 1: Cam Johnson can shoot from anywhere, and Luke May is
- 11:05Speaker 1: back in a role that suits him. Luke May is
- 11:08Speaker 1: not a go to number one score. He hit that
- 11:10Speaker 1: jump shot against Kentucky a couple of years ago and
- 11:13Speaker 1: everyone thought that he was a different type of player.
- 11:15Speaker 1: He's not. But as a number three option, he's probably
- 11:18Speaker 1: the best number three option in the country. I think
- 11:20Speaker 1: this is a bad matchup for Auburn. They're gonna pound
- 11:22Speaker 1: the boards inside against Auburn, which is a weakness of theirs,
- 11:25Speaker 1: and the point and the guards are gonna be able
- 11:27Speaker 1: to match up a little bit. So I like giving
- 11:28Speaker 1: those points against Auburn. I think the public is gonna
- 11:30Speaker 1: be on Auburn because they're hot. They're gonna say, oh,
- 11:33Speaker 1: Bruce Pearl that the Guards are playing great, they won
- 11:36Speaker 1: the SEC tournament. Why not. I'm going the other way.
- 11:38Speaker 1: I'll get the points had. According to the Action Network,
- 11:40Speaker 1: it's still early, but according to the Action Network, the
- 11:43Speaker 1: bets on North Carolina right now. That's smart. That means
- 11:47Speaker 1: the public smart in this one. Hey, uh, blatch, you
- 11:50Speaker 1: have anything you want to add at this point? Are
- 11:52Speaker 1: you taking a nap? What are you doing? I'm just
- 11:54Speaker 1: waiting for you to stop talking. M Yeah, listen. I
- 11:58Speaker 1: I think it's kind of interesting. Hey, Chad, shut the
- 12:00Speaker 1: funk up. Um, I think it's kind of interesting. How Mike,
- 12:04Speaker 1: you touched on the fact that the public loves Bruce
- 12:06Speaker 1: Pearl and you've seen that now, like since when he
- 12:09Speaker 1: was at Tennessee and now at Auburn again. It really
- 12:11Speaker 1: is true. They love to bet on Bruce Pearl teams.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Why do you think that is? I think the public
- 12:17Speaker 1: gets caught up in things that don't matter. I think
- 12:21Speaker 1: they get caught up. And he's an outgoing guy. Re
- 12:24Speaker 1: memory painted his chest Tennessee Girls game when he was there.
- 12:28Speaker 1: I mean, he's a pro he invigorates a program, so
- 12:31Speaker 1: I think he's out there. He's boisterous, he plays an
- 12:34Speaker 1: exciting brand of basketball. They're gonna get up there there
- 12:37Speaker 1: there number one and steels. That's what it is. But
- 12:40Speaker 1: if you break it down and really look at the
- 12:42Speaker 1: matchups here, are you gonna take Pearl over Roy Williams?
- 12:46Speaker 1: Are you gonna take you know, an auburd team that
- 12:48Speaker 1: likes to run over a North Carolina team that has
- 12:51Speaker 1: been running under Roy Williams the three titles. And I
- 12:53Speaker 1: think it's that level that I think some people, you know,
- 12:56Speaker 1: usually forget. I love that logic. I have Houston. It's
- 13:00Speaker 1: seventy to one to win the title. So there are
- 13:02Speaker 1: two and a half point dogs at Kentucky this weekend.
- 13:05Speaker 1: I bet Kentucky. I hedged a little bit, and I
- 13:08Speaker 1: bet Kentucky at two and a half. Black Jack, Why
- 13:10Speaker 1: are you making that face? There's nothing wrong with what
- 13:13Speaker 1: I did. Of course hedged because you have no spine. Listen,
- 13:18Speaker 1: Houston wasn't winning the title at It's a stupid bet
- 13:22Speaker 1: to make. Kentucky's absolutely winning this game. Covering the two
- 13:26Speaker 1: and a half. I've got Kentucky in the final four.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Mike what do you think about that? If PJ. Washington
- 13:32Speaker 1: was there, I would have them winning this game. If PJ.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Washington does not play, he's a lottery pick. He's their
- 13:39Speaker 1: go to guy. He was the guy who was dominating
- 13:41Speaker 1: and getting the buckets when they needed them against Tennessee
- 13:44Speaker 1: in that game earlier in the year, could not be stopped.
- 13:47Speaker 1: If he's not on the court, I'm absolutely going with Houston, Mike.
- 13:50Speaker 1: I have sources that say he's playing. That would be
- 13:53Speaker 1: a good thing for Kentucky because I think we all
- 13:55Speaker 1: want to see you and I can't divulge that. Your reporter,
- 13:59Speaker 1: you know that, so you were you know you can't
- 14:04Speaker 1: evolve sources. You got nothing but an empty two ounce
- 14:06Speaker 1: bottle of vodka. You're pointing into a pie boots on
- 14:10Speaker 1: the ground in Lexington. P J. Washington's playing? Did you
- 14:17Speaker 1: call Stucky? Stucky lives in Lexington. That's the only guy
- 14:20Speaker 1: you know in Lexington. You're wrong if you think that, sweetheart,
- 14:24Speaker 1: I know lots of people in the Bluegrass State. The
- 14:26Speaker 1: other game that I've bet is uh I bet to
- 14:28Speaker 1: go to your point about Duke Mike. Also on Friday,
- 14:32Speaker 1: I bet Virginia Tech on the money line, love it,
- 14:36Speaker 1: loves it, love it. Justin Robinson's health was the key.
- 14:40Speaker 1: I flipped a coin there between Michigan State and Virginia Tech.
- 14:43Speaker 1: When we were on your pod last week chat, I
- 14:46Speaker 1: think we talked about picking the teams, and we actually
- 14:49Speaker 1: put Virginia Tech first, Virginia in the finals, I think,
- 14:53Speaker 1: and I did that in my brackets, and that was
- 14:55Speaker 1: based on Justin Robinson's health. He looks completely healthy. This
- 14:59Speaker 1: is not the the Duke wants to play. They've beaten
- 15:02Speaker 1: them already. I know, no Zion, I understand that, but
- 15:04Speaker 1: no Justin Robinson either in that game. They're not going
- 15:07Speaker 1: to be intimidated. They know them. This is a familiar game.
- 15:10Speaker 1: You're gonna have a similar situation if you CF can
- 15:13Speaker 1: be on the verge of beating them while their players
- 15:15Speaker 1: are yelling at the Duke players. And you saw it
- 15:18Speaker 1: on social media. Shoot the three, shoot the ball. We
- 15:20Speaker 1: don't think you can you can make it. Then Virginia
- 15:23Speaker 1: Tech is not going to be intimidated. That line, I
- 15:24Speaker 1: think a seven and a half. I like that pick.
- 15:27Speaker 1: I like that pick a lot. I grab the seven
- 15:28Speaker 1: and a half, and I'm certainly like the money line.
- 15:30Speaker 1: But Mike, I have to ask this because you just
- 15:33Speaker 1: said a minute ago, when Chad asked you his very
- 15:35Speaker 1: broad question about your power rankings, you had Duke I
- 15:39Speaker 1: believe number three in there and said that this was
- 15:41Speaker 1: a familiar game for Duke as part of the reason
- 15:44Speaker 1: why you had them ranks so high. So then, why
- 15:46Speaker 1: is betting Virginia Tech on the money line a good bet? Well?
- 15:49Speaker 1: The reason is this because when I did the power rankings,
- 15:52Speaker 1: I looked at likelihood to win the title. I don't
- 15:54Speaker 1: think Virginia Tech can put the games together to win
- 15:58Speaker 1: a title. I think Duke Ken. Now, I don't think
- 16:00Speaker 1: Duke's gonna get by this game, but the winner of
- 16:03Speaker 1: this game, to me, is absolutely winning the next game.
- 16:06Speaker 1: So I think this is an odd one. But if
- 16:08Speaker 1: you think about it, it it makes sense. Duke has a
- 16:10Speaker 1: better chance to win the title of Virginia Tech, but
- 16:13Speaker 1: they got to get by this game. It was similar
- 16:15Speaker 1: to my Buffalo Texas tex saw the other day. Whoever
- 16:18Speaker 1: wins that game, I thought was making the Final four,
- 16:20Speaker 1: and I thought this was the toughest game for Buffalo.
- 16:23Speaker 1: So if you're asking me for future, I'm not betting
- 16:25Speaker 1: Virginia Tech to win the title. But I think Duke is,
- 16:28Speaker 1: even though the odds aren't good, is a better bet
- 16:30Speaker 1: to win the title. But this is the tough game
- 16:32Speaker 1: they have to get through. I love his logic. By
- 16:35Speaker 1: the way, I am all in on Virginia Tech only
- 16:38Speaker 1: because of Stucky and Randall. That's it, okay, And like
- 16:43Speaker 1: Justin Robinson to me, is the going to be the
- 16:46Speaker 1: m o P. You're out of your most outstanding players? No,
- 16:54Speaker 1: just it's the Justin Robinson n double A tournament. My friend, Listen,
- 17:00Speaker 1: we've already talked about uh two, we've already talked about
- 17:05Speaker 1: three of the games on Friday, so we might as
- 17:08Speaker 1: well talk about the last one. Michigan State and l
- 17:10Speaker 1: s U. It's like this is a banner bracket. Huh yeah,
- 17:13Speaker 1: this one, Mike. I'm curious about your thoughts on this
- 17:16Speaker 1: because this game for me is a tough one. L
- 17:18Speaker 1: s U is one of those teams that I mean,
- 17:20Speaker 1: they were so hot during the regular season. Michigan State
- 17:23Speaker 1: comes on in the Big Ten tournament then doesn't look
- 17:26Speaker 1: great to start this thing. Um, how do you see
- 17:29Speaker 1: that playing out? I cannot take Tony Bedford against Thomas Oh.
- 17:34Speaker 1: I just can't. And Michigan State. If they were totally
- 17:38Speaker 1: healthy guys, wouldn't we be talking about them winning the
- 17:41Speaker 1: national title? At Josh langflag was there. Nick Ward has returned,
- 17:45Speaker 1: he has not looked himself, but Cassius Winston is playing
- 17:49Speaker 1: at an m O P like level. I think that
- 17:52Speaker 1: with not having your head coach is gonna matter. L
- 17:54Speaker 1: s U. We talked about this on the on the
- 17:56Speaker 1: College Pod. L s U was like five and one
- 17:59Speaker 1: in over time games in the SEC. So there's two
- 18:02Speaker 1: ways you can look at that. You can say that
- 18:04Speaker 1: they're gritty and they have a way they find a
- 18:06Speaker 1: way to win these closed games. Or you can say
- 18:08Speaker 1: they're just experiencing a lot of positive luck and they're
- 18:10Speaker 1: doing for some negative regression without will wait on that
- 18:14Speaker 1: sideline that's gonna make a difference. Maryland was came all
- 18:17Speaker 1: the way back in that game. L s U dominated it.
- 18:19Speaker 1: I understand they have Tremont Waters and when they have
- 18:21Speaker 1: a point guard and a guy like nas Reid big Man,
- 18:24Speaker 1: you're gonna overcome a lot, but you're not overcoming Tom Zoh.
- 18:27Speaker 1: I think the coaching advantage and the game plan in
- 18:30Speaker 1: game strategy favorite is a plus. Michigan State's gonna pound
- 18:34Speaker 1: the boards, which is where you can really get after
- 18:36Speaker 1: l s U. Do we have to have an opinion
- 18:40Speaker 1: on Tom is Oh and what happened in the tournament
- 18:42Speaker 1: with him getting angry. Oh, guys, that's ridiculous. I can't
- 18:46Speaker 1: I can't take that. I can't take it. Oh my goodness,
- 18:49Speaker 1: I mean, can we please? I mean I heard people
- 18:51Speaker 1: on on social media say we wouldn't accept this sort
- 18:54Speaker 1: of red face yelling in any other occupation. That's correct, guys,
- 18:59Speaker 1: because if you're in a countant and you're trying to
- 19:01Speaker 1: do a deduction, you don't have thirty thousand people yelling
- 19:04Speaker 1: at you and not make that deduction. It's a little
- 19:07Speaker 1: bit of passions, a little bit. Mike, Chad and I
- 19:10Speaker 1: have been that red faced yelling at each other on
- 19:12Speaker 1: multiple occasions. Right, we can't never get passionate? Three times
- 19:17Speaker 1: today in the elevator, Um, one more game, Mike before
- 19:20Speaker 1: we let you go. I want to get your take. No, listen,
- 19:22Speaker 1: I'm not done. I'm not not done. I know we're
- 19:25Speaker 1: not done. I don't We're not done with that up, Mike.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Florida State Gonzaga. Gonzaga is a seven and a half
- 19:32Speaker 1: point favorite obviously before four. Shut the fuck up for
- 19:38Speaker 1: a minute and let the guests answer the question. Maybe
- 19:41Speaker 1: you should ask the question. I'm in the middle of it.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Florida State Gonzaga seven and a half. Mike, what do
- 19:48Speaker 1: you what do you think about this? We've seen it before,
- 19:50Speaker 1: you know, and do you do the Seminars have a
- 19:52Speaker 1: chance to win this game out right? It comes down
- 19:55Speaker 1: to your thoughts on killing and Chilly. That's what it
- 19:58Speaker 1: comes down to. Phil Cooper's not going to be there
- 20:00Speaker 1: with the passing of his father. But if you look
- 20:02Speaker 1: at the game last year, that was when Killy and
- 20:04Speaker 1: Tilly was announced. It was a four verses nine game
- 20:07Speaker 1: that he wasn't eligible because he got injured, so we
- 20:09Speaker 1: couldn't play in that game. In that game, Florida State
- 20:13Speaker 1: battle Gonzaga went right back and forth. The defense was
- 20:16Speaker 1: at a premium and everything was very close across the
- 20:19Speaker 1: board except for one area, and that was with the rebounds.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Florida State was able to get a lot of offensive rebounds,
- 20:27Speaker 1: put stuff back in the basket. It's Killy and Tilly.
- 20:29Speaker 1: I think this is a bad matcher for Gonzaga. I'm
- 20:32Speaker 1: grabbing those points cold Gonzaga get the win Shore but
- 20:35Speaker 1: soaker Florida State, And you're gonna give me that many
- 20:37Speaker 1: points if you think Killy An Tilly's presence inside is
- 20:40Speaker 1: going to make that big a difference than you go
- 20:42Speaker 1: with Gonzaga. But I'm going the other way. I'll lately
- 20:45Speaker 1: take those points. They can absolutely win this game. All
- 20:48Speaker 1: right now, before we let you go, Mike, since there
- 20:51Speaker 1: are three other games on the board, Uh, why didn't
- 20:55Speaker 1: you quickly run through who will win? And I guess
- 20:59Speaker 1: in the case if uh U v A, who will cover?
- 21:02Speaker 1: Because in the other two games that Perdue Tennessee Tennessee
- 21:06Speaker 1: minus one, Texas Tech Michigan Michigan minus one and a half,
- 21:10Speaker 1: UVA Oregon uv A minus seven and a half. Give
- 21:14Speaker 1: me your winning cover for each game, Produce is gonna
- 21:17Speaker 1: be Tennessee Tennessee has had issues in each and every game.
- 21:20Speaker 1: They almost blew that game to Iowa. How is it
- 21:22Speaker 1: possible that you don't score that many points in the
- 21:25Speaker 1: second half on Iowa? How is that even possible? They
- 21:27Speaker 1: don't play any defense. I'll take Perdue with the way
- 21:29Speaker 1: Carson Edwards is playing to win out right, and then
- 21:32Speaker 1: the spread right now is one and a half. That's
- 21:33Speaker 1: an easy one. Michigan. Texas Tech is a phenomenal game. Michigan.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Something has been off with their offense all year. Their
- 21:40Speaker 1: three point shooting has been very inconsistent. Test Key inside
- 21:43Speaker 1: does a nice job when he's not really pressed by
- 21:45Speaker 1: athletic bigs, which he's going to be in this game.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Texas Tech defense is at such a high. I'm gonna
- 21:51Speaker 1: take them, and I'll take the one and a half
- 21:52Speaker 1: as well for that game, and then U v A Oregon.
- 21:55Speaker 1: I buy the Tony Bennett Redemption Tour. I think they're
- 21:58Speaker 1: very touch tough matchup. Oregon is still a twelve seed guys,
- 22:01Speaker 1: that's what they are. They have been hot, but they're
- 22:03Speaker 1: going to be very against a very disciplined Virginia team
- 22:06Speaker 1: shoots the three wells free throws and makes you play
- 22:10Speaker 1: their tempo. So I'll take U v A and I
- 22:12Speaker 1: will give those points as well against Oregon. I think
- 22:14Speaker 1: Oregon had a nice run, but I think it ends
- 22:16Speaker 1: here with some negative regression. Wow, going with the big
- 22:19Speaker 1: number all right. Just for the record, if you look
- 22:21Speaker 1: at the Action Network, download the Action Network app, the
- 22:24Speaker 1: money is with you on Florida State, the money is
- 22:27Speaker 1: against you on Tennessee, the money is with you on Tech,
- 22:30Speaker 1: and the money is against you on Oregon. That's fine.
- 22:33Speaker 1: People don't like Virginia basketball. They want to see a
- 22:36Speaker 1: fast break now and then. But I think Tony Bennett
- 22:38Speaker 1: is due to make up for last year's loss. Alright,
- 22:41Speaker 1: Mike Randall, you have been hot as a firecracker in
- 22:44Speaker 1: the Insidable Tournament and your coverage has been equally as scintillating.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Thanks for all you're doing for the Action Network. People
- 22:51Speaker 1: should continue to read you at Action network dot com. Hi, Mike,
- 22:55Speaker 1: see you later. Thanks. Buddy coming up next Asilo Baseball

- 25:07Speaker 1: Sean's relo, our new baseball writer at the Action Network.
- 25:11Speaker 1: Sean's got a great story. Sean sent me an email
- 25:15Speaker 1: and it was so well written and so passionate. I
- 25:19Speaker 1: respond to every email I get, as you know, black Jack, like,
- 25:22Speaker 1: I took your call, but this was impossible to ignore.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Next thing, you know, Sean is writing about baseball for us.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Was there a question in there? Look at me? I
- 25:34Speaker 1: want you. I want you to respond to be like,
- 25:36Speaker 1: that's great. I love people who followed their passion. Um,
- 25:38Speaker 1: that's great. I love people that follow their passion. Sean,
- 25:41Speaker 1: you seem like a lovely person. Um. Got anything else, Chad?
- 25:46Speaker 1: You want to tell us what was in the email?
- 25:47Speaker 1: Maybe I don't be addict to Sean. I'm not. I'm
- 25:51Speaker 1: being addicted to you know you were kind of being
- 25:53Speaker 1: addict to Sean. I like Sean. Sean seems like a
- 25:55Speaker 1: nice guy. Do you feel like I sent an element
- 25:59Speaker 1: of sarcasm? Really? Because he's laying it down pretty thick,
- 26:02Speaker 1: considering he's spent so much time in Vegas. I don't
- 26:04Speaker 1: really know how much. Listen, Sean, there has to be
- 26:06Speaker 1: a natural tension between us. Chat over here hired you
- 26:09Speaker 1: to be a baseball writer. Obviously, I'm best friends with
- 26:12Speaker 1: Paul la Ducas, so I think I'm obligated to tell
- 26:14Speaker 1: you to go fuck your mother. Yeah, that's fair. I
- 26:17Speaker 1: mean we could just spend the podcast doing some some
- 26:20Speaker 1: relationship counseling with the three of us, if that would
- 26:22Speaker 1: be more benefits. You know what Shawn's gonna do. Shawn's
- 26:24Speaker 1: actually going to contribute to the growth of the Action Network.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Unlike you. You better watch what you say here, Sean
- 26:32Speaker 1: zaril Oh, Hi, chat, we got so much to discuss.
- 26:37Speaker 1: We got MLB win totals, we got most home run odds,
- 26:40Speaker 1: we got cy Young odds, we got m v P odds.
- 26:46Speaker 1: I want to start with wind totals. Yeah, absolutely, that's
- 26:50Speaker 1: uh where I focus the majority of my time. So definitely. Uh,
- 26:53Speaker 1: I think we can find some matches in that market.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Chicago White Sox right now under seventy four and a half.
- 26:59Speaker 1: That's what you like? Is that because they didn't get
- 27:01Speaker 1: Manny mach out. Yeah. I think the White Sox line
- 27:04Speaker 1: was inflated a little bit because they were expecting, you know,
- 27:08Speaker 1: improvement from that team, moves in the free agent market,
- 27:11Speaker 1: moves in the trade market, and ultimately everything fell through.
- 27:13Speaker 1: They acquired a bunch of players who might not be
- 27:15Speaker 1: on the roster by the end of the season and
- 27:18Speaker 1: going forward. You know, I I don't think without Michael
- 27:20Speaker 1: Kopeck on that roster they really have much to play
- 27:23Speaker 1: for in terms of taking a step up this year.
- 27:26Speaker 1: They did sign el A Jmenez to a contract extension,
- 27:28Speaker 1: which will get him up into the major leagues quicker,
- 27:31Speaker 1: but realistically, you know, I still think the White Sox
- 27:33Speaker 1: are a year away from even being a five our club.
- 27:36Speaker 1: So you're not a big John J. Fan. I actually
- 27:39Speaker 1: I am a big John J. Fan. I went to
- 27:40Speaker 1: the University of Miami, Uh John J. And you know,
- 27:43Speaker 1: fantastical lump from there. I was a freshman with Yasmani Grandal,
- 27:48Speaker 1: great Milwaukee brewer now Yonder Alonso was on the team
- 27:51Speaker 1: as well. So yeah, you know, I'm I'm pulling for
- 27:53Speaker 1: Anny Canes in in Major League Baseball. But they didn't
- 27:57Speaker 1: want to, or I guess they couldn't get many mach
- 27:59Speaker 1: out to complay with them. That's why they signed all
- 28:01Speaker 1: those guys because they were the Miami crew. So be
- 28:03Speaker 1: trains with What was the biggest line move you saw
- 28:07Speaker 1: for MLB win totals? That was completely irrational? I think
- 28:11Speaker 1: San Diego, Uh, you know, once they got Machado, their
- 28:15Speaker 1: total probably jumped by three or three and a half wins. Um. So,
- 28:18Speaker 1: I think anytime there's an individual player move, uh, there
- 28:23Speaker 1: might be a market over correction. You know, Bryce Harper
- 28:26Speaker 1: signed with the Phillies, they had already pre adjusted to
- 28:30Speaker 1: the Philly is likely acquiring a star player. So the
- 28:33Speaker 1: line actually didn't move after Harper signed with the Phillies.
- 28:36Speaker 1: But you know the amount of action that San Diego
- 28:38Speaker 1: took on their over once ma Shadow signed there was
- 28:40Speaker 1: surprising to me. Actually took a two one World Series
- 28:44Speaker 1: ticket on San Diego in in December. UM put five
- 28:48Speaker 1: bucks on that. You know, well, I cook myself lunch
- 28:51Speaker 1: at home one day and and saved that five bucks.
- 28:53Speaker 1: But yeah, the fact that their odds are now at
- 28:56Speaker 1: fifty five to one I believe, or sixty t one
- 28:58Speaker 1: is is outrageous. There's no value you and that to me, um,
- 29:01Speaker 1: you know, so, I think people just overreact to once
- 29:04Speaker 1: star player changing teams, and and uh, you know, they
- 29:07Speaker 1: continue to pay into value that isn't there. Let me
- 29:10Speaker 1: ask you about a win total that kind of has
- 29:11Speaker 1: confused me the entire offseason since these come outs Colorado.
- 29:15Speaker 1: You're confused by something. Shut the funk up? How many
- 29:18Speaker 1: times have I to say that it's getting so old? God?
- 29:22Speaker 1: Damn it? Well, you just keep saying dumb quiet billy,
- 29:26Speaker 1: he's so mad. Um, the Rockies, the Rockies, somebody has
- 29:32Speaker 1: to win games in that division other than the Dodgers. Right,
- 29:34Speaker 1: talking about a team that was a playoff team. They
- 29:37Speaker 1: resign Ronado, which I think most people didn't expect. Kyle
- 29:40Speaker 1: Freeland showed he can pitch in corse Field. I mean,
- 29:43Speaker 1: how are they not over that total? Yeah, the Rockies
- 29:46Speaker 1: are really interesting team to me. I think teams like
- 29:48Speaker 1: the Rockies and the Brewers and the Rays, because they're
- 29:51Speaker 1: playing in different environments, are kind of playing the game
- 29:53Speaker 1: a little bit differently. The projections might under project what
- 29:56Speaker 1: they're capable of doing. Uh. The Rockies played the Daughters
- 29:59Speaker 1: to a we're all last year. They ended up going
- 30:01Speaker 1: to Game one sixty three, and you know, Freeland and
- 30:04Speaker 1: Herman Marquez were the real impetus of that. They were
- 30:07Speaker 1: both incredible down the stretch, putting up csy young numbers
- 30:10Speaker 1: in the second half, you know, ear as under two six.
- 30:13Speaker 1: So I certainly think the Rockies have a chance to
- 30:16Speaker 1: step back up. My projections have them going under their
- 30:18Speaker 1: win total. Last year I stayed away from it. Had
- 30:20Speaker 1: it going under again this year, I stayed away from it.
- 30:22Speaker 1: I certainly think that they're a team that you know,
- 30:24Speaker 1: gets under projected based on their ballpark and the way
- 30:27Speaker 1: that they're built the planet. They have a good bullpen,
- 30:29Speaker 1: you know, Ronado is there for the long term now.
- 30:31Speaker 1: So I definitely like the Rockies, and I think about
- 30:33Speaker 1: four to one, uh second choice in that division, they
- 30:35Speaker 1: might be a little interesting. What are you thinking about
- 30:37Speaker 1: when you put together your projections? What are the elements?
- 30:41Speaker 1: Without giving it all away? Sure, so I think defense
- 30:44Speaker 1: is definitely underrated. You know, when when team projections are
- 30:47Speaker 1: being done, batters get projected, pitchers get projected, but defense
- 30:50Speaker 1: is a really tough element to project. So taking that
- 30:53Speaker 1: into consideration, I actually wrote an article going through last
- 30:57Speaker 1: year the defensive metrics of teams. Yes, for the Action Network.
- 31:00Speaker 1: It's science on the road. By the way, it's free
- 31:04Speaker 1: to download. You can get it on the app Store.
- 31:06Speaker 1: And uh, you know, it's sevent of the teams who
- 31:09Speaker 1: went over there win totals last year showed positive defensive
- 31:12Speaker 1: metrics either by defensive run saved or fan drafts adjust
- 31:15Speaker 1: the defense, and sixty three percent of the teams that
- 31:17Speaker 1: went under showed negative defensive metrics either on one of
- 31:20Speaker 1: the two. So there's definitely something to be said for
- 31:22Speaker 1: looking at defense and public perception for where people are
- 31:25Speaker 1: playing them. Now, setan, let me ask you a question
- 31:27Speaker 1: that that Chad would never ask because he doesn't think
- 31:30Speaker 1: outside the box like I do. Which is the sexiest
- 31:33Speaker 1: team in baseball this season? Sex? Yeah? What do you
- 31:38Speaker 1: mean by sexy? Exactly? Sexy? Yeah? I mean, you know,
- 31:41Speaker 1: like last year. I think the Brewers were pretty sexy team.
- 31:45Speaker 1: The Rockies were certainly a sexy team last year. Which
- 31:48Speaker 1: team maybe a little bit off the board, gonna make
- 31:51Speaker 1: a run, gonna give you some value on those odds.
- 31:54Speaker 1: Give me a sexy team. I won one second. I
- 31:56Speaker 1: think that, you know, if we're just gonna define straight
- 31:58Speaker 1: up sexy, I think the Phillies definitely increase their sex
- 32:01Speaker 1: to field this offseason just you know, sex everywhere, ripping
- 32:05Speaker 1: with sex. There's gonna be a lot of basically that
- 32:11Speaker 1: locker room is oozing sex. But my, you know, not
- 32:15Speaker 1: any Roman in Philadelphia. No, they're gonna need a lot
- 32:20Speaker 1: of Roman in Philadelphia. No they're not, because they're so
- 32:23Speaker 1: full of sex that rotations a little bit on the
- 32:27Speaker 1: older side us. The rotation might need a little bit
- 32:29Speaker 1: of Roman. They're gonna lineups young and ready to go,
- 32:33Speaker 1: so yeah, yeah, they're fired up. Yeah, alright, I like that.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Let's just be clear. I think everybody should use Roman.
- 32:39Speaker 1: We get the advice of a doctor. We know you
- 32:41Speaker 1: think that he's taking three of them today. That's an
- 32:44Speaker 1: interesting question that around a woman. Are the Cubs a
- 32:46Speaker 1: sexy team? What? You know? I think people think that
- 32:50Speaker 1: the Cubs are a sexy team. I'm particularly low on
- 32:53Speaker 1: the Cubs. They have one of the older rotations in baseball.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Their average age in that rotation is thirty two and
- 32:57Speaker 1: a half. It will be thirty three by the end
- 32:59Speaker 1: of the season. They have a lot of players who
- 33:01Speaker 1: are coming off of down offensive years. Wilson co Trais,
- 33:05Speaker 1: Chris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Chris Bryan hit thirteen home runs
- 33:07Speaker 1: last year. He was banged up most of the season,
- 33:09Speaker 1: and frankly, I don't see any reason why he's all
- 33:11Speaker 1: of a sudden healthy. I'm not expecting a big Chris Bryant.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Are the Cubs of sexy team? The Cubs are like
- 33:18Speaker 1: like shoving a crusty potato into a wrinkled tube sock. No,
- 33:22Speaker 1: they're not sexy. I don't know if that's the analogy
- 33:27Speaker 1: I necessarily would have gone with. And now you've got
- 33:29Speaker 1: that image in your head, it's you know, I'm there now.
- 33:31Speaker 1: Anytime I watch a Cubs game this year, I'm just
- 33:33Speaker 1: gonna be picking rusty tube sock. I like how professional
- 33:36Speaker 1: Sean is being. He's He's like, you cannot crack this guy.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Let's let's find a way. It's not gonna happen. We
- 33:46Speaker 1: could find a way which which players bat is most
- 33:53Speaker 1: in need of Roman this season? Oh, that's a really
- 33:58Speaker 1: interesting question, is it, Chris? Right now? We gotta give
- 34:02Speaker 1: us somebody who can't hit it at all? Huh, somebody
- 34:05Speaker 1: who somebody who can't get that bat up. Um, let's
- 34:09Speaker 1: go with I'm ed Rosario and the Mets. You know,
- 34:11Speaker 1: if if gets some some juice in them. Maybe the
- 34:16Speaker 1: Mets could be a real player in the NA least
- 34:18Speaker 1: going back to the office, because our producer Alex is
- 34:21Speaker 1: going to just never leave you alone. The man has
- 34:25Speaker 1: featured in more Mets highlight videos than anyone I've ever
- 34:28Speaker 1: seen other than He's everywhere. Paul Duca has spent like
- 34:32Speaker 1: two years with the Mets, and you think that he
- 34:34Speaker 1: is the greatest Met who ever lived. Mets fans love Paul.
- 34:36Speaker 1: They love Paul Duca. Paul was the perfect player for
- 34:39Speaker 1: New York. I really think he had shaved his goateee
- 34:41Speaker 1: by the time he got to the match. He had
- 34:43Speaker 1: should have been part of it, he did. I have
- 34:45Speaker 1: an old card of his on the Marlins where it's
- 34:48Speaker 1: it's straight up chinch trap from ear to ear. So
- 34:51Speaker 1: it's really something special. I'm going to bring that in
- 34:53Speaker 1: you mend On, hold on, Paul Duca is God, don't
- 34:57Speaker 1: do this. So this is a trap, Sean, I know
- 34:59Speaker 1: it's a t app. PAULI is not gonna like that.
- 35:01Speaker 1: His his advanced metrics show that he was a below
- 35:04Speaker 1: average had first career. But you know what, it's a
- 35:05Speaker 1: it's a different era and I don't think that that's
- 35:09Speaker 1: I'm gonna walk out necessarily the case. Uh, you know,
- 35:11Speaker 1: there's a reason a guy like him became first time
- 35:13Speaker 1: All Starry you know. So it something really interesting about
- 35:15Speaker 1: Polly that most people don't realize. He didn't make an
- 35:17Speaker 1: All Star team. I believe he was twenty nine, which
- 35:19Speaker 1: was his first full year of the big leagues. Most
- 35:21Speaker 1: guys are hitting the big leagues at about twenty twenty three.
- 35:24Speaker 1: So to be able to stick it out that long
- 35:26Speaker 1: and then can come up as a catcher, that's oh,
- 35:29Speaker 1: is that true? Yeah, Mike so should turn him into
- 35:31Speaker 1: a catcher. When social was with Dodgers, that's very interesting.
- 35:33Speaker 1: Russell Martin is pretty similar. Russell Martin was a third baseman, Uh,
- 35:36Speaker 1: coming in to high school or college, and there was
- 35:39Speaker 1: an area scout there were you know, a lot of
- 35:40Speaker 1: area scouts are asked, name one guy who you think
- 35:43Speaker 1: could convert to another position, and Russell Martin was blows
- 35:46Speaker 1: is still playing. But yeah, he's on the Doctors. Yes,
- 35:49Speaker 1: the Dodgers traded for him. He's Dodger again. He must
- 35:53Speaker 1: be forty years old. He's like thirty seven. I think
- 35:56Speaker 1: I looked it up. He's he's I I can't believe
- 35:58Speaker 1: he's still in the league. What are you gonna ask,
- 36:01Speaker 1: he was gonna ask about the Mets. I think the
- 36:03Speaker 1: Mets are one of the most polarizing teams when you
- 36:05Speaker 1: talk to people because that rotation, if it's healthy, which
- 36:09Speaker 1: is what we've been saying for the last four years,
- 36:12Speaker 1: is the I think the best in baseball. Sure, they
- 36:15Speaker 1: add Robinson Canoe, they shore up the back end of
- 36:17Speaker 1: the bullpen. You know, Conforto looked like he was taking
- 36:21Speaker 1: a step forward last year before he gets injured. Brandon
- 36:23Speaker 1: Nimo I think might be the best damn hitter on
- 36:25Speaker 1: that team. Um, what do you see for the Mets
- 36:28Speaker 1: in a very competitive and at least yeah, it's it's
- 36:30Speaker 1: a tough question because I am a Mets fan. I
- 36:33Speaker 1: think most people look at through teams through road colored glasses,
- 36:36Speaker 1: but I definitely look at the Mets through apocalyptic goggles. Uh,
- 36:41Speaker 1: you know, most worst at all times. Um. You know,
- 36:45Speaker 1: Zach Whillier was absolutely incredible in the second half. He
- 36:47Speaker 1: started throwing a splitter that I think he carried a
- 36:50Speaker 1: one six three e r A in the second half,
- 36:52Speaker 1: struck out four times as many batters as he was walking.
- 36:55Speaker 1: So he finally looked healthy. They just signed Jacob the
- 36:58Speaker 1: Ground to a five year extension today, shocking. Yeah, no,
- 37:01Speaker 1: synder Guard was complaining about that yesterday and the next day,
- 37:04Speaker 1: you know, the gram gets locked up. So really interesting
- 37:06Speaker 1: to timing on. That's got to get him a nice gift. Absolutely, yeah, coincidence. Um,
- 37:14Speaker 1: so you know, synder Guard, Matts and Vargus if they
- 37:16Speaker 1: can stay healthy. My concern with the Mets is the
- 37:18Speaker 1: depth on the roster. You know, there's you're asking me
- 37:21Speaker 1: about a sexy team. Before I was gonna say the Rays. Uh.
- 37:23Speaker 1: The reason I really like the Raises they have so
- 37:25Speaker 1: much depth, will be on their roster where they can
- 37:28Speaker 1: just plug and play different guys in different spots. But well,
- 37:31Speaker 1: I think the odds of them are sexy. But the
- 37:33Speaker 1: Mets a little bit different because once the Mets lose
- 37:36Speaker 1: a guy, uh, that they're replacing him with a straight
- 37:38Speaker 1: up triple A quality player. And and it's the moment
- 37:41Speaker 1: you have a few injuries, and the Mets have had,
- 37:43Speaker 1: you know, a bad history with their medical staff diagnosing things,
- 37:46Speaker 1: uh like Davis. You know, I don't I don't know
- 37:50Speaker 1: what happened like Davis, But I'm worried he might not
- 37:53Speaker 1: be alive somewhere. He might need to check it and
- 37:56Speaker 1: just don't know, we need to make sure he's okay.
- 37:58Speaker 1: I don't know if you ever recovered from valley fever,
- 38:00Speaker 1: but yeah, yeah, I mean the Mets are certainly is
- 38:02Speaker 1: talented as any club in the NA least, but it's
- 38:04Speaker 1: just a matter of staying healthy and they'll stay in it.
- 38:06Speaker 1: I think the Nationals, though the Nationals a third choice
- 38:09Speaker 1: maybe now plus three, they're looking really interesting. You know,
- 38:13Speaker 1: I have them projected for the highest division total in
- 38:15Speaker 1: then the East, and uh, I think they got better
- 38:18Speaker 1: even though the pres However, I'm with you. I like
- 38:19Speaker 1: that team a lot. You'r MLB win Totals's some of
- 38:22Speaker 1: your highlights here, Atlanta under eighty six and a half,
- 38:27Speaker 1: Arizona over seventy four and a half, Chicago Cubs under
- 38:33Speaker 1: eighty nine and a half, Chicago White Sox under seventy
- 38:37Speaker 1: four and a half, Seattle over seventy one and a half,
- 38:40Speaker 1: and as you just mentioned, the two and o Seattle Mariners,
- 38:44Speaker 1: Tampa Bay over eighty four and a half. Now, I like,
- 38:49Speaker 1: I like pretty much all of those, but I'm curious
- 38:51Speaker 1: about the Diamondbacks. One tell me why the Diamondbacks are
- 38:54Speaker 1: over seventy four. That team team traded away a lot
- 38:58Speaker 1: of players. Um, I feel like they're gonna move Grenky
- 39:02Speaker 1: at some point. I mean, right, doesn't that feel like
- 39:04Speaker 1: almost a foregone conclusion? I mean, why are they going over?
- 39:08Speaker 1: So the Diamondbacks for the best defensive team in baseball?
- 39:10Speaker 1: Last year, they saved a hundred and fifty three defensive runs,
- 39:13Speaker 1: which is equivalent to about fifteen wins of the course
- 39:16Speaker 1: of the season, which is a huge swing in her
- 39:18Speaker 1: win total. Obviously, you know, traded Paul Goldschmidt, Patrick Corbyn
- 39:21Speaker 1: sign with the Nationals, but they did get Carson Kelly back.
- 39:24Speaker 1: I think Carson Kelly is one of the top catching
- 39:26Speaker 1: prospects in baseball. They got Luca Weaver back, who I
- 39:28Speaker 1: think is due for a rebound in their rotation. You know,
- 39:31Speaker 1: like you said, they've Zach Grinky. They might trade him
- 39:33Speaker 1: at some point. Definitely a concern, but I tend to
- 39:37Speaker 1: think that people overreact to the public perceptions of injuryvidual
- 39:40Speaker 1: player moves. Like I said before, they have some minor
- 39:42Speaker 1: league prospects who they can bring up and plug holes.
- 39:44Speaker 1: Signed Eduardo Escobar doing extensions, so I think there's still
- 39:48Speaker 1: plenty of major league caliber players on that roster to
- 39:50Speaker 1: play close to five hundred like they did last season.
- 39:53Speaker 1: And you know, I don't necessarily think losing the name
- 39:55Speaker 1: brand talent hurts their team as much as people might.
- 39:58Speaker 1: So Line moves down, I go over. That's That's generally
- 40:02Speaker 1: how I got with public perception. I like that. It's
- 40:05Speaker 1: like he's liking Obama. They go low, he goes high.
- 40:09Speaker 1: Don't make this political shn Zarrella. The Obama of the
- 40:12Speaker 1: Action Network. That is That is quite the statement. I
- 40:14Speaker 1: will try to live up to that. Sean Zarilla, thanks

- 40:39Speaker 1: I have no problem with Sean. You, on the other hand,
- 40:42Speaker 1: I have a major problem because he has a problem
- 40:44Speaker 1: with you hiring me. I think that's the Well, of

- 40:49Speaker 1: isn't black Jack Fletcher. Well, I mean, listen, you don't
- 40:51Speaker 1: need anyone else, but that's fine. We might need someone
