- 0:18Speaker 1: Welcome to Jags A I my kind Honesteve in the
- 0:19Speaker 1: brand section.
- 0:20Speaker 2: John Osier with me.
- 0:21Speaker 1: It is week one at the NFL.
- 0:22Speaker 2: We finally get to see Jaguars football for reel again
- 0:25Speaker 2: this Sunday to take on the Panthers in Week one
- 0:27Speaker 2: in the season opener. So let's get to our big
- 0:29Speaker 2: Things brought to you by dak Government Employees Health Association.
- 0:33Speaker 2: And it's gonna be a cat fight to take it
- 0:34Speaker 2: on the Panthers, another team coming off a disappointing season
- 0:38Speaker 2: last year. Brian, when you look at this, we talk
- 0:39Speaker 2: about starting fast. Obviously you want to play well right
- 0:42Speaker 2: out of the gate. Well, which one of these teams
- 0:44Speaker 2: really needs to play well out of the gate?
- 0:45Speaker 3: Well, just a thought on the Panthers. They won six
- 0:48Speaker 3: of their last nine, so they have a little bit
- 0:51Speaker 3: of something that they can lean on. Whereas the Jaguars
- 0:54Speaker 3: ended last season on a bad note. Listen, they struggled
- 0:57Speaker 3: mightily in the fourth quarter of games that they could
- 1:00Speaker 3: have won last year. So you have a team in
- 1:03Speaker 3: Jacksonville that's hungry to erase their lack of resilience, their
- 1:08Speaker 3: inability to close out games.
- 1:09Speaker 4: And you know.
- 1:10Speaker 3: We've heard from the head coach John since the first
- 1:13Speaker 3: day he was here that he wants a team that's fast, right,
- 1:20Speaker 3: and it appears that through the course of the preseason
- 1:24Speaker 3: they've gotten to that point where they're attacking and situational
- 1:27Speaker 3: masters and tough. But we don't know until we see
- 1:30Speaker 3: him on Sunday.
- 1:32Speaker 4: Right, Yeah, and this hearkens back again first game ever
- 1:37Speaker 4: Brian in Hall of Fame game in ninety five. Man
- 1:41Speaker 4: of these teams, I don't know if it's a rivalry
- 1:44Speaker 4: who needs it From our perspective, the Jaguars really really
- 1:48Speaker 4: need it, but I think it's probably equal. You know,
- 1:51Speaker 4: Carolina showed good things. People don't quite know what they
- 1:56Speaker 4: are that. You know, did they get hot late against
- 2:00Speaker 4: you know, well when it didn't matter. There's an element
- 2:02Speaker 4: of that, but they also got hot late. So I
- 2:05Speaker 4: don't think anything that happened last year pertains to the
- 2:07Speaker 4: Jaguars right now. But I do think it would be
- 2:09Speaker 4: nice to get to one to er because the schedule
- 2:11Speaker 4: gets tough, and this should be a game where you're
- 2:15Speaker 4: on even foot.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Should be let's hope it is a big thing. Number
- 2:20Speaker 1: two I should say is grounds work. As we talk
- 2:22Speaker 1: about kind of setting the tone early last couple of seasons,
- 2:25Speaker 1: this team.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Didn't really feel like they had their identity, didn't know
- 2:28Speaker 2: what it was. Trevor Lawrence talked about kind of asserting
- 2:31Speaker 2: that early this season we're a.
- 2:34Speaker 5: Tough, physical team. It's something we're gonna pride ourselves on.
- 2:37Speaker 5: I think being situationally really smart. That's such a big
- 2:41Speaker 5: part of this game and this league. Games come down
- 2:43Speaker 5: to one score all bit more often than they don't,
- 2:46Speaker 5: so the situations are huge that'll win and lose you
- 2:48Speaker 5: a lot of games. And then just detail oriented group
- 2:52Speaker 5: that's really the small things matter so much. I think
- 2:55Speaker 5: that's something that this stuff has done an awesome job
- 2:58Speaker 5: of preaching to us, and it's been really hard every
- 3:01Speaker 5: day how important those details are. The communication and something
- 3:04Speaker 5: we've gotten a lot better at. But like I said,
- 3:07Speaker 5: you know, you want to see it all come together
- 3:08Speaker 5: on Sunday when the bullets are flying, and see us
- 3:10Speaker 5: do that for a full game.
- 3:13Speaker 1: John, We've talked about this.
- 3:14Speaker 2: You can say all the you know, the acronyms, say
- 3:16Speaker 2: what you want to be, but when they actually get
- 3:17Speaker 2: out on the field, we're going to see if they're
- 3:19Speaker 2: tough as they want to be. And obviously they want
- 3:21Speaker 2: to be fast as they're as well, among other things,
- 3:23Speaker 2: being smart with the details.
- 3:24Speaker 1: But will we be will we be able to tell
- 3:26Speaker 1: a lot from what we see out the team in
- 3:27Speaker 1: the first week.
- 3:28Speaker 4: Well, I think we'll be able to tell the direction
- 3:30Speaker 4: they want to go. And I'm with you Ka. When
- 3:33Speaker 4: I was listening to Trevor talk about this, I thought, well, look,
- 3:36Speaker 4: I know what they want to be. They want to
- 3:38Speaker 4: be really physical, and they want to respond really well
- 3:40Speaker 4: to adversity everything else. They want to play fast and
- 3:43Speaker 4: everything else. But to me, those are the two elements.
- 3:47Speaker 4: It's nice to say you're physical, it's nice to say
- 3:49Speaker 4: you respond well to adversity. In this league, you don't
- 3:52Speaker 4: really know that, Brian, until the fourth quarter of the
- 3:56Speaker 4: first game that you go play. So I do think
- 3:59Speaker 4: those are two areas that Liam Cohen cares about a lot,
- 4:03Speaker 4: and then we'll be able to start seeing it on Sunday.
- 4:05Speaker 3: And they just happened to be two areas that this
- 4:07Speaker 3: team couldn't overcome last year. They weren't a very physical
- 4:11Speaker 3: team at the point of attack. They struggled to convert
- 4:13Speaker 3: on third down and short really they have for the
- 4:15Speaker 3: last two seasons, and that's had a detrimental effect on
- 4:18Speaker 3: the offense because it couldn't stay on the field, It
- 4:20Speaker 3: couldn't go more than two or three pages into the
- 4:22Speaker 3: playbook because they were constantly punting. And then the other
- 4:26Speaker 3: side of it is the resiliency. And I mentioned that already,
- 4:28Speaker 3: that they lost nine out of ten games in the
- 4:29Speaker 3: fourth quarter, And how many times did you go back
- 4:31Speaker 3: look at the Eagles game, look at the Packers game,
- 4:33Speaker 3: look at the Texans game where there were opportunities to
- 4:36Speaker 3: win and they didn't. So you know, he's pointing out
- 4:39Speaker 3: the obvious, but that's been the focus since Liam got
- 4:42Speaker 3: here to get those things fixed. And we won't know
- 4:46Speaker 3: until as you mentioned, the fourth quarter till then our.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Final big thing today is going to be the trenches.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Obviously, we talked a ton about the offensive line and
- 4:53Speaker 2: the defensive line and the off season, the changes that
- 4:55Speaker 2: they've made, and what they're going to need to improve.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Upon going forwards. Brian, do you have a focus on
- 5:00Speaker 1: you think they both need to step up on?
- 5:02Speaker 3: Well, they both need to step up on Sunday. I'm
- 5:03Speaker 3: looking at the offense just because I've been beating that
- 5:05Speaker 3: drum for so many years. But Ron talked to Robert
- 5:08Speaker 3: Hainsey in the locker room yesterday like a lot of
- 5:10Speaker 3: people did, and he was talking about when everyone knows
- 5:15Speaker 3: that you need a yard, that's when those guys expect
- 5:21Speaker 3: to be able to get that yard. And I told
- 5:23Speaker 3: him they haven't expected that the last two years. He
- 5:25Speaker 3: says they do this year. The addition of McCary of
- 5:29Speaker 3: Adoga to a group of guys who've been here for
- 5:33Speaker 3: a couple of years. I think John gives him a
- 5:35Speaker 3: lot of versatility, it gives him a lot of depth,
- 5:38Speaker 3: and it gives them some experience. I expect them to
- 5:40Speaker 3: be able to get a yard this year.
- 5:42Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 5:42Speaker 4: I thought overall that to define the offensive line last
- 5:46Speaker 4: couple of years, like everybody says, I'll be looking at
- 5:48Speaker 4: the interior of the defensive line onto the linebackers. They
- 5:53Speaker 4: need to stop the run better. If they don't stop
- 5:55Speaker 4: the run better, nothing else works on defense. And clearly
- 5:58Speaker 4: during camp they saw something that they wanted to improve there.
- 6:03Speaker 4: They acquired two guys who are on the roster in
- 6:07Speaker 4: the middle of the defense. How stout are you? I
- 6:11Speaker 4: know they want to be stout. I know Anthony camp
- 6:13Speaker 4: nellily talks about getting off blocks and being violent Sundays
- 6:18Speaker 4: when we find out if that is talk or if
- 6:20Speaker 4: it's real.
- 6:20Speaker 6: I think it's real.
- 6:22Speaker 2: All right, stay with us here on JAGSA. I'm coming
- 6:23Speaker 2: up after the break. I go behind enemy lines, check
- 6:25Speaker 2: in with our panthers inside, or some.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Can find out more about the opponent. Why fans today is.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Robber Reckfield's Autooop, Seafield's first acting those premier luxury autobroop.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Go to Fieldsauto dot Com.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Welcome into our behind enemy Line segment where we check
- 6:49Speaker 2: in with a reporter covering the opponent. For this week,
- 6:52Speaker 2: it's going to be the Carolina Panthers, so we're checking
- 6:53Speaker 2: in with Nick Carboni, sports director at w C and
- 6:56Speaker 2: C in Charlotte.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Nick, thanks for joining us this week, and.
- 7:00Speaker 7: I'm truly behind enemy Lions. I am inside Bank of
- 7:03Speaker 7: America Stadium. I do have clear ince, I promise, but
- 7:05Speaker 7: glad to be with you.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 7:06Speaker 6: We're very much in there.
- 7:07Speaker 2: We appreciate that we always at the first first game
- 7:11Speaker 2: of the year, right, we don't really know what we're
- 7:12Speaker 2: going to see from anybody. Obviously, you guys kind of
- 7:14Speaker 2: went through a rebuild a year ahead of us. We're
- 7:16Speaker 2: doing that right now here in Jacksonville. Where's the status
- 7:19Speaker 2: of that and what are kind of the team's thoughts
- 7:21Speaker 2: right now going into Week one.
- 7:23Speaker 7: Yeah, I think this camp was all about comfortability that
- 7:28Speaker 7: kind of builds confidence. That is year two for Bryce
- 7:31Speaker 7: Young under head coach Dave Canalis. And even though this
- 7:34Speaker 7: is Bryce's third season in the NFL, it's the first
- 7:37Speaker 7: time he's been able to carry over the same coach,
- 7:40Speaker 7: offensive coordinator, play caller from year to year in that span.
- 7:44Speaker 7: So it was a tumultuous first couple of years for him,
- 7:46Speaker 7: especially that rookie season, which I know you guys are
- 7:49Speaker 7: kind of familiar with situation, a situation like that, so
- 7:52Speaker 7: he's kind of coming out of that, and I think
- 7:53Speaker 7: Bryce has gained more confidence by being comfortable with what's happening,
- 7:57Speaker 7: and I think everybody has as well. So I think
- 7:59Speaker 7: this camp was all about, you know, being comfortable with
- 8:04Speaker 7: what happened last year continuing into this year and building
- 8:07Speaker 7: on that.
- 8:08Speaker 2: We did see some changes for you guys on offense,
- 8:10Speaker 2: obviously some trades, some injuries in terms of the wide
- 8:13Speaker 2: receiver corps, but some drafting to that position as well.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Where is the in terms of being comfortable with that
- 8:21Speaker 2: the new receiver corp.
- 8:22Speaker 1: He's going to have. How do you feel Bryce young
- 8:23Speaker 1: is going into this week?
- 8:25Speaker 6: Yeah, we're gonna find out quickly. This is now the
- 8:27Speaker 6: youngest receiver corps in the NFL.
- 8:30Speaker 7: After they traded thirty five year old Adam Thielen last week,
- 8:33Speaker 7: which was a surprise to a lot of us that
- 8:35Speaker 7: had happened so quickly. They were relying on Jalen Coker,
- 8:38Speaker 7: a second year undrafted receiver, to fill that slot role. Well,
- 8:42Speaker 7: the day after Carolina traded Feeling Coker got injured. He's
- 8:45Speaker 7: out at least four weeks. They brought Brett back Hunter Renfro,
- 8:50Speaker 7: a name a lot of Jags fans are familiar with,
- 8:52Speaker 7: played for the Raiders, was a Pro bowler. Sat out
- 8:54Speaker 7: last year with alternative colitis, really serious injury. Wasn't sure
- 8:58Speaker 7: he'd come back and play football. Only wanted to do
- 9:00Speaker 7: it if it could be with the Panthers.
- 9:01Speaker 6: He's from the.
- 9:02Speaker 7: Carolina so he got cut Tuesday dealing with traded Wednesday.
- 9:06Speaker 7: Cocher was injured Thursday. Renfro was back Saturday and he
- 9:08Speaker 7: will start this Sunday in the slot for Carolina. So
- 9:13Speaker 7: the Panthers are very confident in their young receivers. As
- 9:17Speaker 7: you mentioned, draft one in the first round this year.
- 9:19Speaker 7: Tet Tyro McMillan drafted one in the first round last
- 9:22Speaker 7: year in xavierly Get and they really liked their second
- 9:26Speaker 7: year tight end out of Texas JT Sanders, in terms
- 9:29Speaker 7: of catching the football. So I'm sure they wouldn't have
- 9:33Speaker 7: liked the last week to go the way it did.
- 9:35Speaker 7: But I still think they are confident in those guys.
- 9:39Speaker 7: We'll see you when Bryce gets comfortable with them.
- 9:42Speaker 2: So for us here in Jacksonville, we've got a partially
- 9:45Speaker 2: new offensive line, obviously new schemes on both sides of
- 9:47Speaker 2: the football. A lot of our focus is on whether
- 9:50Speaker 2: they'll be able to protect Trevor Lawrence, so as far
- 9:52Speaker 2: as edge rushing and kind of the line that Carolina
- 9:55Speaker 2: is bringing into town. However, are they feeling on defense?
- 9:58Speaker 7: Yeah, getting after the core has been a problem for
- 10:01Speaker 7: the Panthers dating back to last season. They're leading sack
- 10:04Speaker 7: getter from last year and there weren't any eye popping stats.
- 10:07Speaker 7: Was Jenevian Clowney and they let him walk. They drafted
- 10:10Speaker 7: to all SEC edge rushers in the second and third rounds,
- 10:15Speaker 7: so their talent level and their ability to get after
- 10:18Speaker 7: the quarterback in the NFL remains to be seen. They
- 10:20Speaker 7: obviously like the fact that they came out of the
- 10:22Speaker 7: SEC that they were Day two picks Nick Gordon and
- 10:25Speaker 7: Princely Umanmiellen. But other than that, they have a couple
- 10:29Speaker 7: of veterans who are pretty good players in Pat Jones
- 10:32Speaker 7: the second they got him in from Minnesota.
- 10:34Speaker 6: Dj Wanham, who was here last year, had a slow.
- 10:37Speaker 7: Start to the season, didn't play the first half of
- 10:39Speaker 7: the season because of some medical stuff. He's you know,
- 10:42Speaker 7: I don't think they have any elite pass rushers at
- 10:45Speaker 7: the moment unless one of these two rookies is able
- 10:48Speaker 7: to carry that load this season. So you know that
- 10:52Speaker 7: that's probably their their weak weakest point in that defense interior.
- 10:58Speaker 7: On the line, they got a little stronger Derek Brown,
- 11:01Speaker 7: pro bowler who had a record setting over one hundred
- 11:04Speaker 7: tackles two years ago but was injured most of last year.
- 11:06Speaker 6: He is back.
- 11:07Speaker 7: They picked up to Shaun Wharton who played alongside Chris
- 11:10Speaker 7: Jones in Kansas City, and they brought in Bobby Brown
- 11:13Speaker 7: from the LA Rams, who won a Super Bowl. So
- 11:16Speaker 7: their big focus is going to be to try and
- 11:18Speaker 7: stop the run down at Jacksonville. Getting after the quarterback
- 11:21Speaker 7: would be a bonus for this team at this point.
- 11:23Speaker 7: I think they've got guys they think they grow into
- 11:25Speaker 7: that role, but this is going to be weak one for.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Those guys very good here.
- 11:29Speaker 2: We're looking forward to seeing exactly how they're going to
- 11:31Speaker 2: use Travis Hunter. We've talked a bunch about what it's
- 11:33Speaker 2: going to be. We don't know yet even they're playing
- 11:35Speaker 2: that close to the best for sure. Who are some
- 11:37Speaker 2: players you have your eyes on for the Panthers that
- 11:39Speaker 2: will kind of make or break it for them on Sunday, Well.
- 11:42Speaker 6: Nobody that plays offense and defense. I can tell you
- 11:44Speaker 6: that guy. So we're all interested to see what happens
- 11:46Speaker 6: there too. You know, I think j C.
- 11:49Speaker 7: Horn, the Pro Bowl cornerback who had a full healthy
- 11:53Speaker 7: season for the first time for the most part last year,
- 11:55Speaker 7: made his first Pro Bowl, got a big contract in
- 11:57Speaker 7: the offseason. You know how he is able to hold
- 12:01Speaker 7: up against some of Jacksonville's receivers and then really the Panthers' receivers.
- 12:05Speaker 7: We talked about it before they took a big swing
- 12:07Speaker 7: on tet Tyro McMillan at number eight overall when they
- 12:10Speaker 7: needed to plug defensive holes in the first round. By
- 12:13Speaker 7: many accounts, they went with offense and a guy they
- 12:16Speaker 7: think can help Bryce Young here for a long time.
- 12:18Speaker 7: They've had their moments in camp where the chemistry is there.
- 12:22Speaker 7: They've had other moments where they need to work on
- 12:24Speaker 7: some of that timing. So how much of it will
- 12:26Speaker 7: be fully formed by week one remains to be seen.
- 12:30Speaker 7: And then their other first round receiver from the prior season,
- 12:33Speaker 7: Zaverly Get He had a nice rookie season.
- 12:35Speaker 6: It wasn't bad by any means, but he also had
- 12:38Speaker 6: eight drops. So is he able to.
- 12:40Speaker 7: Make tough contest and catches against Jacksonville and hold onto
- 12:43Speaker 7: the football in those big moments. So I think the
- 12:47Speaker 7: receiver room and Bryce Young starting this season. How he
- 12:50Speaker 7: finished last three games last year, ten total touchdowns, zero turnovers,
- 12:54Speaker 7: is going to be kind of what makes her breaks
- 12:56Speaker 7: this Carolina Panthers football team this year.
- 12:59Speaker 1: It's gonna be a fun one.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Football is back. We appreciate you, Nick, and that's behind
- 13:02Speaker 2: enemy lines.
- 13:04Speaker 5: You got it.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Thanks for having me, all right, guys, we heard a
- 13:06Speaker 2: little bit about the Panthers there, so coming back to
- 13:09Speaker 2: us when we think about going up against a team
- 13:12Speaker 2: that kind of probably started their rebuild a little bit
- 13:14Speaker 2: earlier than ours. Obviously in ours is different than theirs.
- 13:16Speaker 2: They have their new quarterbacks, still dealing with Bryce Young.
- 13:19Speaker 1: A lot of.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Opportunity there, especially with a team that we feel this
- 13:25Speaker 2: is going to be a game where they can set
- 13:26Speaker 2: the tone a little bit offensively, hopefully and going up
- 13:30Speaker 2: against a defense that seems like maybe an area that
- 13:33Speaker 2: they're working on.
- 13:34Speaker 3: You know, the last time that we saw this team,
- 13:37Speaker 3: they weren't very good. The Jags shut them out twenty
- 13:39Speaker 3: six to nothing. But they moved into the top ten
- 13:42Speaker 3: defensively last year. So they have got a really skillful unit.
- 13:46Speaker 3: And they did that without Derek Brown as their best
- 13:49Speaker 3: defensive lineman so and trading away a pass rusher to
- 13:52Speaker 3: the New York Giants. So defensively, they're a better team
- 13:55Speaker 3: than people give them credit for. And I know all
- 13:56Speaker 3: the focus has been on Bryce Young and the changes
- 13:59Speaker 3: they've made the receiver, but their defense can keep them
- 14:02Speaker 3: in games.
- 14:03Speaker 4: Yeah, this is one of those games where you know,
- 14:05Speaker 4: every Jags fan you talk to, oh, we should get Carolina. Well,
- 14:08Speaker 4: guarantee every Carolina fan is It's not like Carolina is
- 14:11Speaker 4: walking down here going, oh my god, we can't beat Jacksonville,
- 14:13Speaker 4: you know. So I think both teams feel like it's
- 14:16Speaker 4: one that they have a chance to get and should
- 14:18Speaker 4: set the tone for their season.
- 14:21Speaker 6: You talked about the defense.
- 14:23Speaker 4: Carolina's offense has weapons.
- 14:25Speaker 6: They run the ball well.
- 14:27Speaker 4: And they know they can go to their outside guys
- 14:29Speaker 4: or for fifty to fifty balls. They have an identity
- 14:31Speaker 4: and a way they want to play. They're not searching
- 14:35Speaker 4: for what they are, which going into a season is important.
- 14:38Speaker 4: So this is a dangerous team for the Jags.
- 14:40Speaker 3: You know, you remember this because you covered the game
- 14:42Speaker 3: the first time these two teams played in the regular
- 14:43Speaker 3: season back in nineteen ninety six. It was Week six
- 14:46Speaker 3: and the Panthers came in three and one and they
- 14:48Speaker 3: were kind of the hot team. The Daguars had stumbled
- 14:51Speaker 3: to a two and three beginning. But there was such
- 14:53Speaker 3: anxiety about the game because it was Carolina and Jacksonville
- 14:57Speaker 3: and they came into the league together. And the Jaguars
- 14:59Speaker 3: went out and punched him in the mouth. I mean,
- 15:00Speaker 3: they played a really physical game, exactly what these guys
- 15:03Speaker 3: are talking about here. So it's just the parallel, the
- 15:05Speaker 3: striking to me that if this team wants to win,
- 15:07Speaker 3: they're going to have to come out and punch them
- 15:09Speaker 3: in the mouth. They're going to have to be able
- 15:10Speaker 3: to play physical football.
- 15:12Speaker 4: Yeah, that game is an aside. After that game may
- 15:14Speaker 4: have been to that point the most emotional I'd ever
- 15:17Speaker 4: seen Tom Cofflin.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Yeah, a good emotion.
- 15:19Speaker 6: Oh oh oh, very much.
- 15:21Speaker 2: So.
- 15:21Speaker 3: Yeah, he was.
- 15:22Speaker 6: He was chessed out and rightfully so. At the time,
- 15:26Speaker 6: it was a big way.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Well, the Panthers. They got all the attention when the
- 15:29Speaker 3: two teams came into the league together because they were
- 15:31Speaker 3: Carolina and it was Charlotte and it was a hot market,
- 15:36Speaker 3: and so there were newspapers and cities that used the
- 15:40Speaker 3: Panther's logo when the Jaguars were in town.
- 15:42Speaker 5: They did.
- 15:42Speaker 3: It was as if we didn't exist compared to them
- 15:44Speaker 3: at some point in time. So there was a lot
- 15:46Speaker 3: of emotion around the game. And we're not in the
- 15:48Speaker 3: same conference, let alone the same division, but playing Carolina
- 15:51Speaker 3: still means something to people who've been around since the beginning.
- 15:54Speaker 1: All right, stay with here on jag Zam.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Coming up after the break, we'll tell you what we
- 15:57Speaker 2: think the headlines are going to be on Monday morning
- 16:01Speaker 2: set of Moving in Storage is Florda's most trusted and

- 16:08Speaker 2: visit Setith dot com slash Jacksonville.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Welcome back in. We're gonna try to predict the feature
- 16:19Speaker 1: today as we go into week one. We're gonna predict
- 16:21Speaker 1: what the headlines are gonna be. So what do you
- 16:22Speaker 1: think the headlines are gonna be on Monday?
- 16:24Speaker 3: I'll say one and oh uh. I think the Jaguars
- 16:28Speaker 3: will find a way to get the win at home
- 16:30Speaker 3: on opening Day. And I think Travis Hunter will make
- 16:32Speaker 3: a play on defense a takeaway. And this is one
- 16:35Speaker 3: of the storylines we haven't talked about as much this week,
- 16:38Speaker 3: is the fact that the Jaguars had only eighty takeaways
- 16:40Speaker 3: last season. I mean, that's just not sustainable if you
- 16:43Speaker 3: want to win this game. And I think Travis Hunter
- 16:45Speaker 3: is as good a threat on defense as he is
- 16:47Speaker 3: on offense. And I think he makes a play and
- 16:50Speaker 3: perhaps it's a play that turns the momentum the other way.
- 16:53Speaker 4: Well, that would be a cool tone setter, because that's
- 16:56Speaker 4: what they drafted him for. And that's why they didn't
- 16:59Speaker 4: have enough last year. You hope that the difference this
- 17:02Speaker 4: year is big plays at the end of games. I
- 17:05Speaker 4: think they've got more guys on offense who can do it,
- 17:07Speaker 4: but certainly over time, Travis is sort of the symbol
- 17:12Speaker 4: of a guy who can do that. I went with
- 17:14Speaker 4: let's get physical. I think if the Jaguars win and
- 17:18Speaker 4: you feel good about this team after the game, it's
- 17:22Speaker 4: gonna be Brian, because they look like a team, as
- 17:25Speaker 4: we talked Abart earlier in the show, that you didn't
- 17:27Speaker 4: see the last couple of years.
- 17:30Speaker 6: You would like to stop your run and have a
- 17:32Speaker 6: big play.
- 17:34Speaker 4: On defense in that regard, maybe a truck sacked by
- 17:38Speaker 4: Traylon Walker, if you will, And it would be cool
- 17:41Speaker 4: right for this team the direction they want to go.
- 17:45Speaker 4: If they're playing four minute football offensively late and can
- 17:48Speaker 4: make that happen, you know, there's a million ways to
- 17:50Speaker 4: win a game if you're playing four minutes and holding
- 17:53Speaker 4: the ball. I think Liam would smile most widely if
- 17:57Speaker 4: that was the case.
- 17:58Speaker 3: The early injury the Whens the injury report had three
- 18:02Speaker 3: starting offensive linemen for the Carolina Panthers out, which talking
- 18:06Speaker 3: about this Jaguars defensive front certainly would be a lift
- 18:09Speaker 3: and a kwanu. Their left tackle had an appendectomy. They're
- 18:13Speaker 3: listening him as questionable. I would say he's doubtful. That's
- 18:16Speaker 3: a major and it takes a month five weeks to
- 18:18Speaker 3: get back into it. So perhaps there's a potential there
- 18:21Speaker 3: for the Jaguars to dominate the line of scrimmage. It
- 18:24Speaker 3: may forget dominate that that's the wrong word to use,
- 18:26Speaker 3: but to win at the line of scrimmage.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Yes, And we have to remember as well, Josh heinzelin
- 18:30Speaker 2: quickly approaching that franchise record number. I think he's two
- 18:34Speaker 2: and a half to break it, so he's on his way.
- 18:36Speaker 2: So we'll keep an eye on that as well, because
- 18:38Speaker 2: we know he likes to get his sacks and bunches,
- 18:40Speaker 2: so that would be a nice touch to see it
- 18:42Speaker 2: in week one here. I went with a one pun
- 18:44Speaker 2: as well, because week one, let's do it. I think
- 18:48Speaker 2: there's an opportunity here. We talked so much Trevor Lawrence's
- 18:51Speaker 2: fifth season.
- 18:52Speaker 1: He's healthy.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Finally, we haven't seen a ton of them in terms
- 18:55Speaker 2: of just getting injuries and just things.
- 18:57Speaker 1: Not going well the last couple of seasons.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Every opportunity is going to the air form today UH Sunday,
- 19:02Speaker 2: excuse me, And I think this is an opportunity for
- 19:05Speaker 2: him to kind of take the reins and really make
- 19:06Speaker 2: this his team, take this offense, run with it, do
- 19:09Speaker 2: what Baker Mayfield was able to do. Now, a lot
- 19:12Speaker 2: of that's gonna rely on the running games. While I'm
- 19:13Speaker 2: not saying I expecting to be Superman out there, but
- 19:15Speaker 2: seeing his command of the field team has commanded this
- 19:18Speaker 2: offense grow as the A training camp has gone on,
- 19:21Speaker 2: hoping to see that continue in re in a week one.
- 19:23Speaker 3: I sat with him on Wednesday to talk for pregame radio,
- 19:26Speaker 3: and I just saw a spark in his eyes, you know.
- 19:29Speaker 3: I mean, he's so even keeled most of the time
- 19:32Speaker 3: it doesn't let you too far inside, but it was
- 19:35Speaker 3: pretty clear just sitting for an interview that he's ready
- 19:38Speaker 3: for this one.
- 19:38Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 19:39Speaker 4: Just wanna see a clean game from him A and
- 19:40Speaker 4: UH the UH A stable confident quarterback UH on Sunday
- 19:46Speaker 4: from him, UH would mean more to me than numbers.
- 19:49Speaker 1: And do wonders for our fourteen Absolutely say with us quickly.
- 19:52Speaker 1: We will UH tell you what's coming up the rest

- 20:09Speaker 2: And the Sunday's game against the Panthers brought to you
- 20:12Speaker 2: by Publics.
- 20:12Speaker 1: We're shopping as a plug.
- 20:14Speaker 6: You're talking about guys.
- 20:17Speaker 4: Having a feel for the game and understand.
- 20:19Speaker 2: So what happened right here?
- 20:21Speaker 6: I'm calling a play, My mic cuts out.
- 20:25Speaker 7: Well, we could pant it could freak out, but Trevor
- 20:29Speaker 7: pulls a play.
- 20:30Speaker 6: On his own and we execute it really well. But
- 20:35Speaker 6: that's a great job by Trevor. I understand the man.
- 20:38Speaker 6: We're playing a screw here.
- 20:40Speaker 3: The MC cut out, but there's no pants.
- 20:43Speaker 1: It's not hard.
- 20:45Speaker 6: That's a great job of owning the system, owning the
- 20:48Speaker 6: whole operation and running the show the right way. That's great.
- 20:59Speaker 1: That's a scene from the most recent episode of The Hunt.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Are behind the scenes documentary style show an hour long,
- 21:06Speaker 2: So you want.
- 21:07Speaker 1: To get ready for the season. I'll get hyped up
- 21:08Speaker 1: seeing all that goes into age one.
- 21:10Speaker 3: It's worth pointing out that on Sunday, it's also it's
- 21:14Speaker 3: the first game for Liam Cohen as the head coach.
- 21:16Speaker 3: It's the first game for each of his coordinators in
- 21:18Speaker 3: their role for that matter, for Tony Bisselli and for
- 21:20Speaker 3: James Gladstone. So there's a lot, I don't want to
- 21:23Speaker 3: say on the line, but there's a lot of preparation
- 21:26Speaker 3: and effort that's gone to get to this point where
- 21:29Speaker 3: this new regime takes center stage for the first time,
- 21:32Speaker 3: and it's made for an interesting week. Guys are working hard.
- 21:35Speaker 6: It's been fun so far.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Yeah, something's going.
- 21:38Speaker 5: Here we go.
- 21:38Speaker 1: It's gonna be a good one, all right, enjoy the game.
