Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Alright, good morning.
- 0:01SPEAKER_00: I'm Chip Judd.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: This is gonna be our 8 at 808, our 8-minute mind shift.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: Kind of what I said about it was it takes more than eight minutes to change your life.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: But uh you can have a breakthrough in just one.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: Um, new beginnings.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: Eights the number of new beginnings.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: What is that all about?
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: Well, new is something that's never existed before, something recent, a change, uh, something fresh, maybe even unfamiliar, uh, something different, and God help us, maybe better.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: A beginning is the act of entering, the act of entering a process or a state.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: Beginning, a beginning is a threshold between what was and what could be.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: You cross a line between the way my life was and the way it could be by just making a decision.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: And uh, we're gonna talk about a lot of cool stuff.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: A beginning is the point of time when my future stops repeating my past.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: A beginning can be a change that's like nothing.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Let me give you some words.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: Breakthrough, fresh start, hit reset, make a turn, make a course adjustment, start over.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: What does that mean?
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: It means you might be doing the right stuff, but you just need to start it over.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: Maybe you got off track, maybe you need to relaunch something that just didn't work like you thought it would.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: Part of beginning is accepting where you are.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: You can't be anywhere but where you are.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: You might not like where you are, but to leave where you are, you've got to you gotta start where you are, sorry.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: But refuse to stay there.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: Accept where you are, but refuse to stay there.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: And here's an important thought as we get into all this stuff we're gonna do over the next weeks and months.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: One decision, one step at a time.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: This is gonna sound weird to some of you, but think small, act small, and it'll create a big shift.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: Think small, act small, and it'll create a big shift.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: Studies show that we tend to overestimate what can happen in a short period of time and underestimate what can happen in a long period of time.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: In other words, oh, I'm gonna get all this done in the next month or year, and we set ourselves up for failure.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna change all this much in the next six months and we set ourselves up for failure.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: What if instead you said, I'm gonna just try to change this much?
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: It's one of my favorite little symbols, you might say.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: Because here's the deal.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: If you can create that much change and sustain it, you're gonna be blown away by what you see over the next months and years.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Because here's the thing you're gonna get less accomplished in a shorter amount of time than you think you can, but you're gonna get more accomplished in a longer period of time than you think you can.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: Alright, here's the deal.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna throw a bunch of stuff at you, man.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: I that's just kind of me, you know, guys that coach me a little bit uh correctly, by the way.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: Tell me, dude, don't you you just throw so much at people.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: Well, here's the cool thing with technology.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: This is being recorded, and it's gonna be thrown out a couple different places.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: Uh obviously on Facebook you can see it again.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: We're gonna put it on a uh YouTube, we're gonna put it on uh a podcast, and probably put it on my website.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: The point is you don't have to catch everything right now.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: Uh let it just beat you up a little bit or whatever it does, and uh you can come back to it later and uh catch it out.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: I mean, catch it again, okay?
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: So who am I?
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: For those of you that may not know, I'm a pastor and a counselor.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: My name's Chip Judd, by the way.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: And uh I have a master's degree in counseling.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: I uh I've been at this for over 35 years.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, what does that mean?
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: Well, it just means I'm an older guy and a lot going on.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Uh I've been married to my awesome wife for 42 years.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: Uh just absolutely incredible.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: I can't believe how good God has been to us.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: We have three amazing kids, and they're married to three, you know, kind of okay spouses.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: No, I'm kidding.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: They're married to three awesome spouses, and I have six, gosh, Jesus help me, amazing grandchildren.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: And uh I'm a pastor at Seacoast Church, which I'm so honored and proud of.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: And I also travel and do work with churches and staff and leaders and individuals and marriages and whatever.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: I just I I'm really more a counselor who happens to be pastoring than I am a pastor who does a lot of counseling.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: I think like a counselor, and um so I just I just think about it.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: Um, so what why are we doing this?
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: Why why do I want to do this?
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: Um, you remember the movie uh Sixth Sense with Bruce Willis, and uh I can't remember the kid's name.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: Some of you would help me if you were here, but I can't remember.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: But um the kid's issue was I see dead people.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: And it was kind of like this thing he couldn't turn off.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: Well, my deal is I see stuck people.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: Everywhere I go, by the way, let me say this, including the mirror, I see stuck people.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: I am one.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: A stuck person is just someone who's got some area, they may have some areas of their life that are just going great, but they have some area of their life where, man, I just keep not doing what I need to do or should do, and I keep doing what I shouldn't do that's not producing good results.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: In other words, I'm stuck in a cycle or a pattern.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: And uh that's kind of that's kind of what I wake up every day thinking about.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: How can I help myself and others get unstuck?
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: And why?
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: Because you know what?
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: I believe God has an amazing life plan for you.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: I believe he has an amazing life plan for me.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: And I want to get to as much of it as I can.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: John 10 10.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: For those of us that are into the Bible stuff, John 10.10, Jesus said, the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: But I've come to give you life, that life more abundantly.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: Here's what I believe, guys.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: I believe the greatest act of theft is not when the devil takes something you have.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: I believe the greatest act of theft is keeping you and I from getting what God meant for us to have.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: In other words, I believe when we get to heaven, the thing that's gonna be the saddest of all is when we realize the life that we left on the table.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: All the pieces of our life that God wanted to do cool stuff in that he just wasn't able to.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: And that's kind of what we're gonna talk about.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: We're gonna talk about how to grab that thing and live, grab life by the throat and live it to its fullest.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: And we're gonna talk about all kinds of things.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: So, what should you expect?
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: Eight-minute mind shift every Wednesday.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it's gonna be pre-recorded because I do travel and do some of that other stuff.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna do my best to stick to eight minutes, but come on now.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: Don't, don't, don't beat me up.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: Uh, I am a pastor and a counselor, and I and I merge what I call spirit-led biblical Christianity with what I call sanctified psychology.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: Meaning I love to bring some other stuff into the deal.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: Uh, the eight minutes is gonna be kind of an intro or a teaser for other opportunities and resources.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: I'll point you toward messages that I've done or other people have done.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: Uh Lord willing, we're gonna create some online courses for small groups and self-study.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: We're gonna do blogging and podcasts and YouTube, and if God will help me, which I know he will, uh He I'm the problem, not Him.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: Uh hopefully gonna be writing some books.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: So uh cool.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: And we're gonna talk about cool stuff.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: I'm not afraid of controversy.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: I'm not afraid to be uh, you know, in your face a little bit, and so uh we're gonna try to do that.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: And uh I want us to build some community around us and other brave souls that really want to experience change in their life.
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: All right, so next week, not sure what we'll talk about, but we might talk about Grace for the Race.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: How to like and love yourself and others while God's changing you.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: And we'll talk about all kinds of stuff.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: The two most empowered, most important words that shape your destiny, two words that shape your destiny.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: We'll talk about all kinds of cool stuff.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: Love you guys, real quick.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: Thank you, Brady.
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: Thank you, Justin, for all the help you've been getting this off the ground.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: And eight minutes is gonna be tough.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: Love you guys later.
