- 0:00belle price: I'll dance.
- 0:02Tad Eggleston: Good evening, everybody! Welcome back to the Saga Book Club on 22 Panels. I am…
- 0:08Tad Eggleston: joined by writer Josh Iserreich and… father-daughter combo, Matt and Bell. Belle's doing a little dance, because we talked her into taking an hour off of studying for finals to… to… to do some Saga, and…
- 0:25Tad Eggleston: And, like, I love it, because 10 minutes ago, she's like, no, I gotta study, and now she's dancing on screen, because it's Saga.
- 0:34Josh Eiserike: Ted, I want to quickly, plug the.
- 0:37Tad Eggleston: Plug, plug!
- 0:38Josh Eiserike: Patreon?
- 0:40Tad Eggleston: Oh!
- 0:40Josh Eiserike: Asked of me last time, so for those who have been enjoying, please, please, feel free to, show some respect on the
- 0:48Josh Eiserike: Daniel's Patreon?
- 0:50Tad Eggleston: Phil recently told me that we need to have a… Tad needs a PS5 level.
- 0:55Josh Eiserike: So… And then I'll plug my stuff.
- 1:00Tad Eggleston: Please do.
- 1:00Josh Eiserike: This is Josh. I am a writer. My original graphic novel, I have it right here. The very final Last Girls is… we are getting to the end of our print run from Darby Pop, you can find it on my website, joshiserac.com.
- 1:14Josh Eiserike: And I just started writing the sequel. Which…
- 1:18Josh Eiserike: out at some point, and then we'll do more prints of the first one, and then I would be remiss if I didn't mention, and this will likely get me canceled, I just collected my early aughts comic, assholes into the complete assholes. If you are a fan of Kevin Smith, Judd Apatow, Men Behaving Badly comedy that is highly offensive.
- 1:38Josh Eiserike: This is only available through my website, or at.
- 1:41Tad Eggleston: Okay.
- 1:42Josh Eiserike: So this is the Complete Assholes, with the never-before-released Assholes Hanukkah Special.
- 1:46Tad Eggleston: We're gonna have to arrange to do that. I need to read assholes. I am a fan of Kevin Smith and Judd Apatow, and I think… I think that they don't actually get canceled because they're kind of aware that the asshole behavior is asshole behavior.
- 2:03Josh Eiserike: Right.
- 2:04Josh Eiserike: Right. That's, like…
- 2:06Tad Eggleston: the line.
- 2:07Tad Eggleston: Yeah, so I don't know. It's like, no, this is how men behave!
- 2:11Josh Eiserike: I'm happy to send it to you, read it, and hopefully you'll have me on Saga next… next month.
- 2:17Tad Eggleston: Or just come to C2E2 and I'll buy it from you.
- 2:20Josh Eiserike: That would be great.
- 2:22Tad Eggleston: I put in for panels.
- 2:24Tad Eggleston: I have 5 panel…
- 2:28Matt: So, bye.
- 2:28Tad Eggleston: 5 panel submissions. I'll find out by the end of the week.
- 2:33Tad Eggleston: I have my fingers crossed.
- 2:36Tad Eggleston: So sorry.
- 2:37Josh Eiserike: Those are… those are my plugs. Let's.
- 2:39Tad Eggleston: Those are good plugs. Saga Volume 5. Issues…
- 2:44Tad Eggleston: 25 to 30, and as I was just pointing out off-air, and don't get me wrong, the cover of Saga Vol. 5 is great, and it's the cover of, I think.
- 2:57Tad Eggleston: Chapter 26? Issue 26? But normally, the cover goes to whatever the first issue, or first cover of…
- 3:07Tad Eggleston: The volume is, and as I'm looking at the cover to issue 25, fuck, that's a good cover.
- 3:13Matt: It's a wraparound cover.
- 3:15Tad Eggleston: Is that one wraparound?
- 3:16Matt: Yeah, maybe that's why they didn't do it.
- 3:18Tad Eggleston: Maybe that is it.
- 3:21Tad Eggleston: Is that the one that… because I remember that they showed a wraparound cover at the back of the volume.
- 3:27Matt: Yes, they do, here.
- 3:30Tad Eggleston: Ehhh…
- 3:32Matt: And it's the cover.
- 3:34Matt: Plus the back cover, so…
- 3:36Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 3:37Tad Eggleston: Which, yeah, you're right, that was… The, the wraparound was… Crazy, crazy good.
- 3:48Tad Eggleston: Get that.
- 3:50Matt: Did they have multiple covers? I'm thinking it did.
- 3:53Tad Eggleston: I don't think so. They very, very rarely did multiple covers.
- 4:01Tad Eggleston: But yeah, that's a crazy good cover.
- 4:03Matt: Oh, no, I think you're right.
- 4:08Tad Eggleston: So… yeah, this is, like, where we left off last…
- 4:13Tad Eggleston: month, Marco had been left behind as… as…
- 4:20Tad Eggleston: His mother, wife, and child were kidnapped by a janitor robot.
- 4:26Tad Eggleston: Who had already killed the princess and stolen the Princeling, the will was… What, half dead?
- 4:38Matt: On his deathbed, yep.
- 4:41Tad Eggleston: So… this one… this one starts out…
- 4:45Tad Eggleston: Actually, the other thing I noticed,
- 4:49Tad Eggleston: This one started out with a really nice… like… Let's get caught up.
- 4:58Tad Eggleston: You know, we're, we're… It's been 20… 25 issues, in case you forgot where we all were.
- 5:05Matt: And this is one of those things that…
- 5:08Matt: Brian and Fiona did masterfully, whereas Marvel Comics hammered it into the ground every issue.
- 5:15Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 5:15Matt: Which kind of drove me crazy, so yeah, no… I love the…
- 5:18Tad Eggleston: The drive-in theater. Your planet needs you.
- 5:23Tad Eggleston: Alana getting groped in the backseat.
- 5:25Matt: That's Alana? No, no, isn't Alana?
- 5:29Tad Eggleston: I think it is.
- 5:30Josh Eiserike: I think it is, too.
- 5:31Matt: I did not pick up on that.
- 5:35Tad Eggleston: Some were trying to escape a bad situation.
- 5:39Tad Eggleston: Almost all of them were poor as shit.
- 5:43Tad Eggleston: I feel like this is the… the Secret Service guy, too.
- 5:48Josh Eiserike: I think so.
- 5:49Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 5:50Josh Eiserike: Because you also get, very subtly, through this sequence and then through
- 5:55Josh Eiserike: Marcos' drug trip, you get their past in a way that we haven't seen before.
- 6:03Matt: This… this volume really sets up a lot of future story.
- 6:06Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 6:08Josh Eiserike: Oops, I didn't remember this one at all.
- 6:10Tad Eggleston: I, I, I loved it that it was, it was little Sophie that's like, you know, they got really big brains, let's see if they can talk.
- 6:20belle price: You know why this volume feels so crazy? I think I've… I think I've cracked the code, kind of. I think that sometimes, what Saga's done, because I remember this kind of feeling this way throughout reading it when I read it my first time, every four issues, there's, like, some resolution to some really long conflict.
- 6:37belle price: And there's still short conflict that ties it together, but I feel like we're kind of on, like, a new exposition now, so I think, like, like you guys are saying, if there's so much stuff happening, I think that's… that might be the reason. Like, he's just…
- 6:49Tad Eggleston: Hell yeah.
- 6:50belle price: He's just throwing all the new stuff at us, because then 4.
- 6:52Tad Eggleston: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:53belle price: From now, it's all… all of that's gonna be, like, resolved, and it'll be all new.
- 6:57Tad Eggleston: Well, yeah, because… B-because, because, like…
- 7:01belle price: the splitting of the family was just massive. Yeah. That was the first…
- 7:06Matt: Major.
- 7:07Tad Eggleston: Major.
- 7:08Matt: happens on multiple levels.
- 7:10Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 7:10belle price: And then the team-up, though, with Robot, with Marco, at the end, which is so interesting.
- 7:16Matt: perspective.
- 7:17Tad Eggleston: Yup, man.
- 7:18belle price: But it rocks, actually.
- 7:20Tad Eggleston: And they continue to just have great character designs. I love the character designs of the Revolution.
- 7:27Josh Eiserike: I like the snake man.
- 7:29Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 7:30Tad Eggleston: I like the gaseous whatever.
- 7:33Josh Eiserike: Yeah.
- 7:33Tad Eggleston: It actually kind of seems like it's, like, two people, maybe?
- 7:37Matt: Yeah.
- 7:37Tad Eggleston: gin.
- 7:38Matt: It's no plural.
- 7:39Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 7:40belle price: They're just all characters, they're all made characters in their own right, in their own stories.
- 7:45Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 7:47Tad Eggleston: There are no throw… I mean…
- 7:49Tad Eggleston: one of the things that comes up when we talk Love and Rockets is there are, like, no characters that you see anywhere in Love and Rockets that you can't imagine a backstory for, that you… that you don't… that couldn't sometime actually be a front story. And I feel like that in… in…
- 8:10Tad Eggleston: in soccer.
- 8:11belle price: That's it. Oh!
- 8:12Tad Eggleston: they're.
- 8:12belle price: And I'm like…
- 8:13Tad Eggleston: No characters that they couldn't…
- 8:15belle price: What do you… Yeah.
- 8:17Tad Eggleston: What's going on, Bill? What'd you see?
- 8:18belle price: remembering Petrichor, too.
- 8:20Tad Eggleston: Oh, yeah, well, that's… that's still in the future.
- 8:24belle price: Yeah.
- 8:24Tad Eggleston: We don't get to Petracor yet.
- 8:26belle price: So much.
- 8:27Tad Eggleston: How far ahead did I flip?
- 8:28belle price: Pause.
- 8:30Josh Eiserike: To me, that's just a mark of a great artist. An artist that I'm working with right now, she said to me.
- 8:36Josh Eiserike: when she was just doing a tryout page to see if we… and we're working together, and she's been great, but she's like, yeah, I love crowd scenes because I like to imagine stories for everybody in the crowd.
- 8:47Josh Eiserike: Right. And I'm like, yes, please.
- 8:50Josh Eiserike: I love it.
- 8:54Tad Eggleston: We get to know Goose here, too.
- 8:56Tad Eggleston: Which is just great.
- 8:58Josh Eiserike: Who, again, still speaks like butters from South Park, in my mind.
- 9:03Tad Eggleston: This is the one that I love. Sophie just yelling, EVERYONE BE FRIENDLY!
- 9:09Josh Eiserike: Sophie's great.
- 9:10Tad Eggleston: Edit works.
- 9:15Tad Eggleston: And of course, they call it Hill Don't Go.
- 9:20Tad Eggleston: And that's not enough to tell them that they don't want to go.
- 9:26Tad Eggleston: The brother, the, the stock's brother, all about revenge, except, not if it's dangerous.
- 9:34Matt: Right.
- 9:34Tad Eggleston: I got kids. I didn't like my sister that much.
- 9:38Tad Eggleston: Here, you… you go!
- 9:42Matt: Yeah.
- 9:43Matt: I liked her enough to come here, but not deal with it any further.
- 9:45Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 9:46Josh Eiserike: I also… I like how, the… the revolution, like.
- 9:52Josh Eiserike: We see races of creatures we've seen before.
- 9:55Josh Eiserike: Right. Like, the world feels like… Full and lived in.
- 10:01Josh Eiserike: Like, she… she's… she's gotta be from the Reporter's Planet.
- 10:04Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 10:10Tad Eggleston: Well, and they even tell us later that, that, that, the one guy is from…
- 10:18Tad Eggleston: The planet that they were on to begin with.
- 10:22Tad Eggleston: Why can't I remember?
- 10:25Tad Eggleston: the name.
- 10:27Tad Eggleston: the one that Isabelle's from.
- 10:31Tad Eggleston: God, this trip is just…
- 10:34Matt: Freaky?
- 10:35Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 10:37Tad Eggleston: Though, also, I have this goose as a pop.
- 10:43Matt: Honestly?
- 10:44Tad Eggleston: Yes.
- 10:46Tad Eggleston: The one in his pajamas with the chopper.
- 10:52Matt: Nice.
- 10:55Tad Eggleston: I set foot in a hot topic just to get it.
- 11:00Tad Eggleston: Because it was a Hot Topic exclusive.
- 11:04Josh Eiserike: Yeah, man.
- 11:06Josh Eiserike: Gotta do what you gotta do.
- 11:07Tad Eggleston: Exactly.
- 11:09Tad Eggleston: Exactly.
- 11:14Tad Eggleston: This is also, I mean, in the flashback is when we find out that Marco is a… Badass.
- 11:23Matt: Yo.
- 11:25Tad Eggleston: you know, with the beginning of it being that, like, Goose saying, you know…
- 11:35Tad Eggleston: Because I'm not frightened of you to Prince Robot, but that one scares the life out of me.
- 11:42Matt: Yep.
- 11:48Tad Eggleston: And you can… you can understand how Marco has now adopted
- 11:54Tad Eggleston: I mean, if these are all actually memories, rather than… bad dreams.
- 12:00Tad Eggleston: Which, it seems to indicate that they are.
- 12:03Josh Eiserike: That was my favorite page in the whole… the whole trade, right there.
- 12:07Tad Eggleston: Right here.
- 12:08Josh Eiserike: Yeah, not the splash, the other one.
- 12:11Tad Eggleston: the one next to it. But I think the two worked really well together.
- 12:15Josh Eiserike: Yes, 100%.
- 12:17Matt: Yep, agreed.
- 12:18Tad Eggleston: You know… Particularly because, like, he's a hero here.
- 12:24Josh Eiserike: Oh, here, let me take that out.
- 12:27Tad Eggleston: Oh, wait a minute, it wasn't…
- 12:30Tad Eggleston: It… it… it wasn't a… wasn't a military target.
- 12:35Josh Eiserike: Yeah, but also, like, if we want to suss out, like.
- 12:39Josh Eiserike: any kind of theme from these chapters? Thinking about, like, the revolution and how… what's… what's the robot? Dango, the robot janitor? Is that his name?
- 12:47Tad Eggleston: Right. Dango.
- 12:48Josh Eiserike: Yeah, like, how he's like, oh, I may have bit off more than I can chew. It's like, no, buddy, this is war. This is… this is the horror that you signed up for, and these people take it way too far.
- 13:02Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 13:07Tad Eggleston: I love the can… I love that they're making… they're roasting marshmallows.
- 13:13Tad Eggleston: Like… I mean, this is one of the rare first pages that isn't a splash.
- 13:23Josh Eiserike: Right.
- 13:25Tad Eggleston: But, it's just as shocking as so many of their splashes. Because it's, like, sleeping lion cats, sleeping…
- 13:35Tad Eggleston: Sweet Boy and Gwendolyn. So, yeah, that's what abortion is.
- 13:41Matt: Yo.
- 13:42Matt: That's almost as good as I shouldn't.
- 13:44Tad Eggleston: As… as they're roasting marshmallows.
- 13:48Tad Eggleston: Cool! I always wondered that.
- 13:50Matt: There you go.
- 13:55Tad Eggleston: Ugh.
- 13:59Tad Eggleston: Of course, you know, I mean, we talked last issue about Sophie, and I'm not a child, I'm 8.
- 14:06Matt: Yup.
- 14:14Tad Eggleston: But yeah, it's like, I don't think we ever spend…
- 14:17Tad Eggleston: Like, this 4 pages we spend…
- 14:20Tad Eggleston: at the campsite is one of the longer sequences I think, we spend.
- 14:25Tad Eggleston: in one place.
- 14:29Matt: We'll get that in a ship.
- 14:31Tad Eggleston: 3 to 4, and then shift…
- 14:34Matt: Yup.
- 14:34Tad Eggleston: 3 to 4, and then shift.
- 14:46Tad Eggleston: Bonking goose.
- 14:49Josh Eiserike: So this next page was the only moment I remembered.
- 14:52Tad Eggleston: The high as fuck.
- 14:54Josh Eiserike: Yeah… And I remember not…
- 14:57Tad Eggleston: Make a t-shirt out of it.
- 14:59Josh Eiserike: I did. You know, this is the one moment that kind of took me out of the book for a minute.
- 15:04Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 15:04Josh Eiserike: I thought… I thought it was a little too, what's the word I'm looking for?
- 15:12Josh Eiserike: I don't know the word, but it…
- 15:14Matt: You took the seriousness out of the situation.
- 15:16Josh Eiserike: Yeah!
- 15:18Josh Eiserike: Yeah, it's like, oh, all of a sudden, it's like… and they did make a shirt, but it's like, this is something I would say.
- 15:23Tad Eggleston: Yeah, I almost… I almost wonder if they got to this point right here.
- 15:28Tad Eggleston: The… so there's another victim of this goddamn war.
- 15:33Tad Eggleston: A woman who at least… Managed to die exactly as she lived.
- 15:38Tad Eggleston: Like…
- 15:45Tad Eggleston: And it just wasn't worth having a page of her fixing things.
- 15:49Josh Eiserike: Right.
- 15:50Matt: Yeah, for sure.
- 15:51Tad Eggleston: you know, I almost wonder if it's, like, one of those rare times where…
- 15:55Matt: Listen.
- 15:56Tad Eggleston: I mean, either they had this, and they were just looking for a way to get it in.
- 16:01Tad Eggleston: Or, they just realized at the end of this page that, like, no, that's where we leave it, but we've got a page.
- 16:08Tad Eggleston: So let's do something cool.
- 16:10Josh Eiserike: Here's… here's also what it is.
- 16:13Josh Eiserike: And maybe I'm being too much of a writer thinking about this too much, because certainly this is a very jarring image, and for a lot of people it worked.
- 16:21Josh Eiserike: For me, it doesn't, because I don't really care about this character, and I would rather go off, and by that I mean, like.
- 16:31Josh Eiserike: have a cliffhanger on somebody I care about, specifically Marco or Alana, but could be any other, you know, of the…
- 16:39Josh Eiserike: Well, but it's not a cliffbanger. She's dead. Exactly.
- 16:43Matt: late.
- 16:43Matt: But they could have left it on a cliffhanger.
- 16:46Josh Eiserike: No, but, but, no, sorry, sorry.
- 16:48Josh Eiserike: But it… but it still functions as a cliffhanger, because it's the end of the issue.
- 16:52Tad Eggleston: That's true.
- 16:54Josh Eiserike: like…
- 16:55Matt: And you don't know…
- 16:55Josh Eiserike: The story doesn't end there, like, there's more next issue.
- 17:00Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 17:03Josh Eiserike: Yeah, so that should.
- 17:04Tad Eggleston: Well, are you studying?
- 17:06Matt: And for the little redemption she gets from that… I might be a little bit why?
- 17:12belle price: I'm sorry, guys, I gotta be locked in, I got stuff going on.
- 17:16Matt: It's fine, dude.
- 17:17belle price: It's just so sorry!
- 17:18Tad Eggleston: at the fact that the camera was off and you were muted, and I knew what was happening.
- 17:23belle price: Oh, Tad, I'm so sorry.
- 17:25Tad Eggleston: I don't have to apologize.
- 17:26belle price: Oh…
- 17:27Tad Eggleston: Just chime in from time to time.
- 17:29belle price: That's what I'm planning on doing, hang on, I'm so sorry.
- 17:36Tad Eggleston: Matt, you raised a good one. She prioritizes her grades.
- 17:42Tad Eggleston: And if she gets the… if she gets into the University of Chicago, trust me.
- 17:46Tad Eggleston: I'll teach her all about making time for comic books.
- 17:49Matt: Yes, I believe that.
- 17:56Matt: So yeah, so what little redemption she got from going in and sacrificing herself still doesn't make me like that character.
- 18:03Josh Eiserike: break.
- 18:04Josh Eiserike: And I don't want to end the chapter on her, I want to end…
- 18:09Josh Eiserike: an emotional beat on somebody I care about. Now, speaking of emotional beat, which is worse.
- 18:14Tad Eggleston: This one, or… or FARG?
- 18:17Matt: This one's worse.
- 18:21Tad Eggleston: Are you sure? Yeah.
- 18:22Matt: Yeah, because sucking your own dick doesn't feel…
- 18:25Tad Eggleston: No, but at least there's not, like, the ugly, massive testicles.
- 18:29Matt: They're…
- 18:30Josh Eiserike: You got, you got a pretty veiny…
- 18:32Matt: right there!
- 18:37Tad Eggleston: I don't know. I do love that they were like, this is a double-page spread.
- 18:43Matt: Yup!
- 18:43Tad Eggleston: And I just noticed…
- 18:46Matt: I just noticed, we've got.
- 18:48Tad Eggleston: veins here, but we also have
- 18:50Tad Eggleston: The tongue wrapped all the way around.
- 18:53Matt: Yep.
- 18:54Tad Eggleston: You can see it down here.
- 18:55Josh Eiserike: Oh, shit, you're right.
- 18:59Josh Eiserike: Yeah, I didn't say… Ted, I think this is the longest I've spent studying this page.
- 19:03Tad Eggleston: I was like…
- 19:05Matt: There is a reason, Legacy.
- 19:06Tad Eggleston: Yes, I have too.
- 19:08Josh Eiserike: Shock value, got it, moving on.
- 19:12Tad Eggleston: Well, but that's the other thing, he's so peaceful.
- 19:16Tad Eggleston: That it's not as shock value as it could be.
- 19:21Matt: They want to see the script, I want to see what Brian Kavon put on the page, and how she interpreted it.
- 19:26Tad Eggleston: Because I literally remember the first time I saw this.
- 19:32Tad Eggleston: I didn't fully grasp what he was doing until the next page.
- 19:37Tad Eggleston: when they start talking about it. And then I had to turn back to it, I'm like, ugh!
- 19:43Josh Eiserike: Yeah.
- 19:47Josh Eiserike: One of the things I really like about Brian K. Vaughan is he doesn't shy away from
- 19:51Josh Eiserike: Not only the violence, but also the sex. I mean.
- 19:54Tad Eggleston: Oh, no, we're.
- 19:55Josh Eiserike: core.
- 19:55Tad Eggleston: we're a couple vol… like, the… I think it was Volume 9, aside from just ripping our hearts out, like…
- 20:06Tad Eggleston: The opening splash page of every fucking issue was completely not safe for work.
- 20:15Matt: Right.
- 20:16Tad Eggleston: He was daring you to open it in public.
- 20:24Josh Eiserike: But it's… but it's also… It's not titillating.
- 20:29Tad Eggleston: No. Like… Wow.
- 20:30Josh Eiserike: It's just like.
- 20:31Tad Eggleston: Sometimes.
- 20:32Josh Eiserike: Sometimes. But mostly it's, this is part of the human experience, and if there are, you know, a planet full of these dragons in space, this is what they'd be doing.
- 20:41Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 20:45Josh Eiserike: I do… I do love their monitors here on the lower left.
- 20:49Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 20:51Matt: very 90s CRT, yep.
- 20:53Josh Eiserike: Yup.
- 20:54Tad Eggleston: No, no, 80 CRT, because they're… they're just.
- 20:57Matt: This is great.
- 20:58Tad Eggleston: Green and black, and the other green.
- 21:02Matt: That's true, because the janitors are black and white, so that makes sense.
- 21:06Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 21:07Tad Eggleston: So these are, like, a step up from the janitor, but they're still, like… I mean, this is the type of computers Best Buy had for, like, their inventory system and everything when I started there.
- 21:19Tad Eggleston: I remember when we finally updated into the…
- 21:24Tad Eggleston: 90s, sometime in the early 2000s.
- 21:30Tad Eggleston: I always thought it was hilarious that we sold computers, and our computer system.
- 21:34Matt: We're shit.
- 21:41Matt: Well, the airlines are using Windows 3.1.
- 21:45Tad Eggleston: Oh, God.
- 21:46Matt: I mean, come out of the.
- 21:47Tad Eggleston: Let's not even get… let's not even talk about… and it's not just the airlines.
- 21:52Matt: Just traffic.
- 21:53Tad Eggleston: The control is sometimes working off of fucking floppy disks.
- 21:56Matt: Yup, they got their TRS-80 out.
- 21:59Matt: Anyway…
- 22:01Tad Eggleston: I, I do love this head explosion here.
- 22:04Matt: Yeah, but I hate this fucking janitor. He's so dumb. It makes me wonder if all of the robots are dumb?
- 22:11Tad Eggleston: Well, I mean…
- 22:14Tad Eggleston: I hate to say this, because… because, like, I work special ed, and I don't… I don't like the R-word, but, like, there is that moment later on where… where he gets called an R-word, and immediately says, hey, my son was…
- 22:31Matt: Someone with special needs, yes!
- 22:35Tad Eggleston: Oh… We didn't…
- 22:37Josh Eiserike: Shocking. I didn't remember that at all.
- 22:39Tad Eggleston: We didn't get to know the brand for very long.
- 22:43Matt: And we didn't get to know the stock for very long.
- 22:46Tad Eggleston: No.
- 22:46Matt: And it's like, he introduces these really cool fucking characters, and then kills them all!
- 22:53Tad Eggleston: I mean, don't get me wrong, Fiona.
- 22:57Tad Eggleston: Killed the hell out of this…
- 23:01Josh Eiserike: Oh, yeah!
- 23:02belle price: But I'm glad she saved Lion Cat. I mean, can we all be so grateful, though, that her one save was Lion Cat? Because I am so grateful, still. I'm always grateful for Lion Cat.
- 23:11Tad Eggleston: Yes.
- 23:13Josh Eiserike: Wait, can you… can you go back for a second?
- 23:16Josh Eiserike: Is this where Gwendolyn's hair goes white?
- 23:24Tad Eggleston: Didn't? Oh, you're right. Yeah, I totally missed that.
- 23:29Tad Eggleston: Good catch.
- 23:33Josh Eiserike: I never understood that. I wonder… I wonder if it was the spell was too strong, or what?
- 23:39Tad Eggleston: Either the spell or the backlash.
- 23:41Matt: Yeah, or maybe a little bit of both.
- 23:44Tad Eggleston: The fear… I mean, because you got… you got a hell of a shock there.
- 23:49Josh Eiserike: Yup.
- 23:55Josh Eiserike: Also, I love when we find out the brand's real name.
- 23:58Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 24:01Matt: I just feel bad for the dog.
- 24:03Tad Eggleston: Yeah, sweet boy.
- 24:12Tad Eggleston: Cleave.
- 24:13Tad Eggleston: Cleave is the, the, the…
- 24:15Josh Eiserike: That's right.
- 24:16Tad Eggleston: Braum.
- 24:18Tad Eggleston: I remembered before we actually got to the point where she was talking about it. I'm proud of myself.
- 24:28Josh Eiserike: I did love the action here, how everything goes down at the climax.
- 24:32Tad Eggleston: Yeah
- 24:35Tad Eggleston: Well, he finally figures it out, so he arms Alana.
- 24:39Tad Eggleston: Who somehow manages not to shoot him the second he arms her.
- 24:43Matt: Immediately, yes, which I would have.
- 24:46Tad Eggleston: I'm… I'm kinda shocked that she didn't.
- 24:49Josh Eiserike: Oh, no, you gotta save that for Prince Robot.
- 24:52Tad Eggleston: I mean, I get why, from a story standpoint.
- 24:57Josh Eiserike: Yeah.
- 24:58Tad Eggleston: But it is one of the slightly less…
- 25:01Tad Eggleston: believable things Alana has done or not done.
- 25:05Matt: gone, yup, exactly.
- 25:08Josh Eiserike: Yeah, I would agree with that.
- 25:10Josh Eiserike: I mean, I could argue she needs him to escape, but I think she… I agree, I think she would have killed him.
- 25:15Tad Eggleston: Yeah, I don't… I don't think she has…
- 25:18Tad Eggleston: I'm surprised that she had the.
- 25:23Matt: Well.
- 25:24Tad Eggleston: I mean, because here, we're not that far forward where it takes Marco to talk her out of it.
- 25:31Matt: probably was thinking, okay, if this guy can help me get out of here, cool, and then I'll take him out.
- 25:37Josh Eiserike: Yeah.
- 25:43Tad Eggleston: Yeah, this is… this is just…
- 25:46Josh Eiserike: That's a great splash.
- 25:48Matt: Fascinating.
- 25:49Tad Eggleston: Well, the splash is great, but then the…
- 25:52Josh Eiserike: Yup.
- 25:52Tad Eggleston: I send Yochum. I lost unto a sickness that your kingdom could have easily… Fascinating.
- 25:59Matt: Boom!
- 26:01Josh Eiserike: Yup!
- 26:03Josh Eiserike: I also love that he bleeds, like, blue.
- 26:06Tad Eggleston: Well, they all do. They're the blue bloods.
- 26:08Josh Eiserike: Yeah.
- 26:10Tad Eggleston: But I do like… that the Blue Blood isn't just… Royalty.
- 26:16Josh Eiserike: Yeah.
- 26:17Josh Eiserike: It's their race.
- 26:18Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 26:22Tad Eggleston: And I also just… I've always loved how much that their screens show their emotions.
- 26:28Tad Eggleston: Yup. Like, the cracked screen with the baby rattle is just…
- 26:33Matt: It shows their emotions and their status. It's… it's a really.
- 26:36Tad Eggleston: Oh, I just noticed this. Bill, this seems like the type of thing you would notice. Goose in the background, so happy because he found Friendo?
- 26:51Tad Eggleston: Look at that! That's just great!
- 26:53Matt: Yup.
- 26:55Tad Eggleston: And then just completely happy on… there's… I mean, I love how there's not even any goose dialogue, but if you're paying attention, like, his universe just got infinitely better.
- 27:08Josh Eiserike: Nope.
- 27:17Tad Eggleston: And this…
- 27:21Tad Eggleston: I hate it when they make me feel for the will. This made me…
- 27:25Josh Eiserike: I know what happens, I'm Team Will.
- 27:29Tad Eggleston: I know you are.
- 27:31Tad Eggleston: I was never Team Will.
- 27:34Tad Eggleston: even… I mean, even before what happens, I was never Team Will.
- 27:39Tad Eggleston: I do also love this, this teaser at the end here.
- 27:44Matt: Yeah, the start of the prison.
- 27:46Tad Eggleston: Sure is one of my favorite characters.
- 27:48Matt: Yup.
- 27:49Tad Eggleston: And…
- 27:50Matt: That was such a…
- 27:50Tad Eggleston: Hazel starts having her own… personality, it's just… Yeah.
- 27:56Josh Eiserike: It's a great… it's a great time job.
- 28:00Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 28:01Josh Eiserike: So, yeah, I didn't… I didn't remember, like, I remember, like, oh yeah, Marco and Alana, Alana get separated, but I didn't remember… I was like, oh, they're all gonna get back together. It's like, wait, what? She's saying she won't see her dad for years? Like, I don't remember this at all.
- 28:15Tad Eggleston: Right?
- 28:17Tad Eggleston: Because, as… as… Marco is catching up to them.
- 28:29Tad Eggleston: Grandma and Hazel are being taken away.
- 28:33Josh Eiserike: Yup. So you have the…
- 28:35Tad Eggleston: The Marco Alana come back together.
- 28:38Matt: Hmm.
- 28:39Tad Eggleston: out the… Full family reunion.
- 28:44Josh Eiserike: Yup. Right.
- 28:45Tad Eggleston: like…
- 28:51Tad Eggleston: I mean, there was kind of a run in here, We're… we're… even-numbered books, Broke your heart.
- 28:59Tad Eggleston: like 4. And odd-numbered books would break your heart during it, but end kind of happy. Like, this is a wonderfully happy image.
- 29:09Josh Eiserike: Yes.
- 29:09Tad Eggleston: But also sad, because she's not with her parents.
- 29:12Tad Eggleston: Well, yeah, no, you know it's sad.
- 29:15Josh Eiserike: Yeah, she doesn't.
- 29:17Tad Eggleston: But…
- 29:18Josh Eiserike: ugh.
- 29:18Tad Eggleston: If you just flip to the end, you're like, oh, happy ending book, woohoo!
- 29:24Josh Eiserike: So, I don't remember this at all, and I've… and I've now since… I still buy, but I'm no longer reading the floppies, I'm waiting to catch up. Do we ever meet Alana's parents?
- 29:35Tad Eggleston: I mean, we met them already, briefly.
- 29:39Josh Eiserike: I don't remember.
- 29:39Tad Eggleston: Or rather, we met her stepmom, and saw.
- 29:43Josh Eiserike: That's right.
- 29:43Tad Eggleston: of her dad.
- 29:45Josh Eiserike: That's right.
- 29:49Josh Eiserike: But, like, they never become, like, characters like Marco's parents do.
- 29:52Tad Eggleston: I don't think so.
- 29:54Tad Eggleston: But, I mean, we've still got, like, 30 issues to go.
- 29:58Josh Eiserike: Right.
- 30:00Tad Eggleston: So, I mean, it could happen. There's… there seems to be some implication that her dad is important.
- 30:10Tad Eggleston: I mean, I feel like I've gotten a little bit of that vibe already.
- 30:14Josh Eiserike: Right.
- 30:21Tad Eggleston: But yeah… I also love that it's a pineapple. She's wearing a pineapple shirt.
- 30:28Josh Eiserike: Right.
- 30:29Josh Eiserike: And they're learning the English.
- 30:30Tad Eggleston: There are pineapples in space.
- 30:32Josh Eiserike: Right.
- 30:40Josh Eiserike: No, like, this was… I mean, it's…
- 30:42Tad Eggleston: It's so funny, the things they decide to not make different in a galaxy far, far away.
- 30:47Josh Eiserike: Or, like, when Marco is in a convenience store, and it's just like, yeah, it's a convenience store. Right.
- 30:53Tad Eggleston: Right. Why would it be any different?
- 30:56Tad Eggleston: Well, and the payphone, and the RCA, I mean, I still… Laughs so hard at, like…
- 31:04Tad Eggleston: the camcorder and RCA cables.
- 31:07Josh Eiserike: Right.
- 31:11Tad Eggleston: You know… But yeah, no, this is… this is definitely one of the most action-packed… Volume. This…
- 31:21Josh Eiserike: This was the first volume where I really… I know we're doing this monthly, where I really had to restrain myself from going out to read the next one immediately after.
- 31:30Tad Eggleston: Yeah, yeah.
- 31:31Tad Eggleston: I'm actually glad that, that I had…
- 31:34Tad Eggleston: two more book clubs between today and tomorrow, and an interview, because I couldn't keep reading. I… I like…
- 31:42Tad Eggleston: I had to shift gears to get the other reading done.
- 31:46Josh Eiserike: Right.
- 31:47Tad Eggleston: Because.
- 31:48Josh Eiserike: No.
- 31:48Tad Eggleston: I, I… this is definitely…
- 31:51Tad Eggleston: I mean, I think this is the first time that I've read this volume and not read up to date afterwards.
- 31:59Josh Eiserike: So, this is the… also the volume where I… I gave you a little pushback before.
- 32:04Josh Eiserike: When you made the statement that this is Brian K. Vaughan's masterpiece.
- 32:09Josh Eiserike: After rereading this, I think I'm inclined to agree.
- 32:14Tad Eggleston: And I don't… I don't… this is, like, it's not to disparage any of Vaughn's other work.
- 32:20Josh Eiserike: Yeah.
- 32:21Tad Eggleston: anybody would kill to have Vaughn's bibliography.
- 32:25Josh Eiserike: Sure.
- 32:25Matt: fake.
- 32:27Tad Eggleston: You know… Like, when your mediocre stuff is the handful of Batman you did, It's still good, just like…
- 32:40Tad Eggleston: You didn't do enough of it to be, like, a Batman writer.
- 32:47Tad Eggleston: You know… When the title that you worked the most on, that people forgot you did, was Runaways?
- 33:00Josh Eiserike: I love runaways.
- 33:01Tad Eggleston: I do too. But, like, if there's a title that people forget about Vaughn, it's Runaways, and then it's Ex Machina. Can you imagine if those were your two throwaway titles?
- 33:11Josh Eiserike: Right.
- 33:14Tad Eggleston: It's like, oh, wait, you mean the guy that did Saga, and Why the Last Man and Paper Girls? He did Ex Machina, too, and Runaways?
- 33:25Josh Eiserike: Run.
- 33:26Matt: Oh, I had the last round?
- 33:27Josh Eiserike: I think… I think my… my… my older daughter, like, in a couple years, I think she's ready for that.
- 33:33Tad Eggleston: You know, I mean, she might be able to do Rainbow Rowels already.
- 33:38Josh Eiserike: Yeah.
- 33:38Tad Eggleston: But it'd be kind of weird to do the new stuff, and then.
- 33:41Josh Eiserike: Yeah.
- 33:42Tad Eggleston: staff.
- 33:44Josh Eiserike: I agree.
- 33:45Tad Eggleston: Is she into superheroes?
- 33:50Josh Eiserike: She likes, Ghost Spider from the movie.
- 33:54Tad Eggleston: Okay.
- 33:55Tad Eggleston: Stephanie Phillips just did a good run on Ghost Spider.
- 33:58Josh Eiserike: Okay.
- 34:05Tad Eggleston: Stephanie's taking over Daredevil.
- 34:08Tad Eggleston: I am so looking forward to that.
- 34:11Josh Eiserike: Cool.
- 34:12Josh Eiserike: I haven't… I don't know the last time I've read a Marvel book.
- 34:15Josh Eiserike: Well, Ultimate Spider-Man, that's the only one I'm reading.
- 34:18Tad Eggleston: Oh, see.
- 34:20Matt: It's a good one to read.
- 34:21Tad Eggleston: It is, it is, but, but, like…
- 34:26Tad Eggleston: It's been 30 years since I wasn't reading Daredevil.
- 34:29Josh Eiserike: Right.
- 34:31Tad Eggleston: And, like, I gotta give major, major plug to Ultimate Wolverine.
- 34:39Tad Eggleston: You know, I…
- 34:40Josh Eiserike: I just read the first trade, and as I contradict what I just said about not… I don't read a monthly Marvel book. I checked the first trade out of the library, I read it, and…
- 34:51Josh Eiserike: He didn't do it.
- 34:52Tad Eggleston: Blasphemy. Blasphemy.
- 34:54Josh Eiserike: Didn't do it.
- 34:55Tad Eggleston: Chris Kant is my… my boy!
- 35:04Tad Eggleston: No, most of that Ultimate stuff has been good. I need to read the Ultimates, because Dennis Camp has been killing everything I read of his, and the Ultimates is, like, the only thing I haven't read yet.
- 35:15Josh Eiserike: I don't know why, but I just… I just… other than Ultimate Spider-Man, like, I haven't connected with a Marvel book in a long time.
- 35:21Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 35:22Josh Eiserike: Like, I used to read, like.
- 35:24Tad Eggleston: I mean, I get that, because really, the only book that I consistently read is Daredevil. I still get Miles Morales every month, I tend to read them, like.
- 35:35Tad Eggleston: 5 to 10 at a time.
- 35:37Tad Eggleston: Same with Star Wars.
- 35:41Tad Eggleston: You know, I'll binge 6 Months over the Star Wars every once in a while.
- 35:45Josh Eiserike: I used to be… if there was an X on the cover, I would buy it.
- 35:50Tad Eggleston: Yeah, I've never been that guy.
- 35:52Josh Eiserike: Oh, I was… I was that guy, and then I was like, wait, I don't care about any of these.
- 35:58Josh Eiserike: And, like, I'll dip in from time to time, but…
- 36:02Josh Eiserike: Just… other than Ultimate Spider-Man, I just haven't cared about a Marvel book in a really long time.
- 36:08Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 36:10Tad Eggleston: I get that, they've been…
- 36:18Tad Eggleston: I had to put it? Because they've… there's definitely been some good stuff.
- 36:22Josh Eiserike: There's always good stuff.
- 36:24Tad Eggleston: But the universe has been inconsistent.
- 36:28Josh Eiserike: Yeah.
- 36:31Tad Eggleston: The… the… the universe is… has been… very inconsistent. So…
- 36:39Josh Eiserike: I mean, look, I mean, to the… to the point of what we're supposed to be talking about, if it's an issue of saga versus an issue of
- 36:46Josh Eiserike: I don't know, pick your superhero? I'm, at this point in my life, I'm reading Saga.
- 36:51Tad Eggleston: Oh, yeah. No, no, no.
- 36:53Tad Eggleston: I mean, that's…
- 36:55Tad Eggleston: I sometimes get frustrated when friends of mine get gigs on superhero books, because it's like, dude, do you know how many comics a week I read? I don't have time to read
- 37:08Tad Eggleston: Blank superhero?
- 37:10Josh Eiserike: Right.
- 37:12Tad Eggleston: Well, they don't. I'm like, I can't not read one of your books!
- 37:17Josh Eiserike: And also, they can't not take the job.
- 37:20Tad Eggleston: Right. No, exactly. I'm not telling you not to take the job.
- 37:24Josh Eiserike: Yeah.
- 37:26Tad Eggleston: I just want your other stuff to sell so well that you don't need to take the show.
- 37:31Josh Eiserike: Right.
- 37:35Tad Eggleston: Oh… I feel like I don't have anything more to say about this volume that's not Chris Farley show-esque.
- 37:43Matt: Oh, I get it. I think we said it all.
- 37:46Tad Eggleston: And we already did that in our Jonah Hex episode of Pulp Blotter on Sunday morning, where we just got into the… remember that time?
- 37:57Tad Eggleston: When… When Goose said, I'm not that… Sweet.
- 38:05Tad Eggleston: It was awesome.
- 38:10Tad Eggleston: Bell Fox?
- 38:17Tad Eggleston: Still not even listening?
- 38:19Josh Eiserike: studying. Look, I was… I was just gonna… I was just gonna say, this was the volume that… I mean, I love this book.
- 38:25Josh Eiserike: now I'm, like, totally locked in on the reread.
- 38:28Josh Eiserike: You know, minus a couple…
- 38:32Josh Eiserike: things I didn't quite care for, I'd say, you know, overall, like, I love the action, I love all the divergent plot threads, and I love how at the end it shakes everything up in another time jump.
- 38:44Tad Eggleston: Right?
- 38:45Josh Eiserike: So, I mean, it's a magic trick what these two do.
- 38:49Tad Eggleston: He times his time jumps just right.
- 38:51Josh Eiserike: Yep.
- 38:52Tad Eggleston: He times his shakeups really well.
- 38:57Tad Eggleston: And if you look at this, you've got multiple shakeups, because, like…
- 39:04Matt: Alana loses Hazel.
- 39:06Matt: When she gets back, Marco.
- 39:08Tad Eggleston: Right. Yup. And because he's got…
- 39:12Tad Eggleston: Princeling now, but we'll be calling him Squire soon. You know, it's not clear that Robot's still with them.
- 39:21Matt: floor.
- 39:21Tad Eggleston: I don't actually remember right now whether… I mean, I know they'll be together again, but I don't know that it's immediately. Yeah.
- 39:29Josh Eiserike: I don't remember either.
- 39:32Josh Eiserike: And he's also no longer… villainous.
- 39:38Tad Eggleston: I mean…
- 39:39Matt: Yeah.
- 39:40Tad Eggleston: Yeah, because he has been disowned, he's been stripped of his title.
- 39:45Josh Eiserike: Yeah.
- 39:46Tad Eggleston: You know, the way things are with Will, you don't know what's gonna happen next there.
- 39:55Tad Eggleston: I mean, I know what's gonna happen next, but it gets left in such a way that, like, it's not at all clear…
- 40:02Tad Eggleston: That Gwendolyn's gonna get to stay with them, it's not at all clear that Sophie's gonna get to stay with them.
- 40:08Josh Eiserike: Right.
- 40:09Josh Eiserike: I don't remember what happens with Sophie at all.
- 40:12Tad Eggleston: I do. There's… I mean, it's actually kind of funny that, that, like…
- 40:20Tad Eggleston: More of these pairings come back around than I would have expected.
- 40:25Josh Eiserike: Hmm.
- 40:26Matt: Yup.
- 40:27Tad Eggleston: But there are… Major bumps in the road.
- 40:35Tad Eggleston: You know… Because, you know, Intergalactic Civil War, Bounty hunters?
- 40:44Tad Eggleston: Romeo and Juliet Love Story. This is how I used to sell the book.
- 40:51Tad Eggleston: I'm just looking at this… this ship that looks like the inside of a speaker.
- 40:59Matt: Does look like a speaker, I love that.
- 41:01Tad Eggleston: And I'm just…
- 41:02Josh Eiserike: It was supposed to be, like, his blaster.
- 41:04Tad Eggleston: Mesmerized by it.
- 41:06Josh Eiserike: That's cool.
- 41:08Tad Eggleston: I mean, it does kind of look like some blasters, too, but to me, it looks like…
- 41:13Tad Eggleston: The inside… like, if you take… take apart a speaker, it looks like that inner…
- 41:21Tad Eggleston: I can just see this, this part here thumping.
- 41:32Tad Eggleston: Because that's what we haven't gotten in Saga yet, but I also know is coming, is music.
- 41:38Tad Eggleston: I've had hints of it.
- 41:40Tad Eggleston: We know that we've seen a couple of rock and roll t-shirts, and we had dancing.
- 41:51Tad Eggleston: I think that's what I like the most about Brian K. Vaughan's story, like, writing, is that, like, you can go back and read, and the foreshadowing is so clear once you know.
- 42:00Matt: Yeah.
- 42:01belle price: But, like, I overlooked all these things in the beginning. I didn't even notice that her t-shirt was for a band, you know what I mean? Like, on your first read, you don't appreciate these things in the same way.
- 42:10belle price: you know, you also don't know that there's merch, so you don't… you don't look into the t-shirt, because you don't know there's merch for it, so it's like, you know…
- 42:16Tad Eggleston: And they're still out there.
- 42:17belle price: Yeah.
- 42:18Tad Eggleston: I think there's a sale going on right now.
- 42:19belle price: Epic Christmas gift idea, man. Epic Christmas gift idea for the saga lovers out there. Support Saga, man.
- 42:27belle price: Plug saga.
- 42:28Tad Eggleston: I mean, they don't…
- 42:31Tad Eggleston: I mean, they're like the one independent comic that doesn't actually really need me to plug them. I mean, they had… they had midnight release parties after being gone for 3 years.
- 42:45Tad Eggleston: Think about that, a comic book with midnight release parties after being gone for 3 years.
- 42:52Tad Eggleston: That doesn't…
- 42:56Tad Eggleston: None of those words feel like they should be in the same sentence.
- 43:01Matt: You know, the first two panels, I thought this was back to the circuit.
- 43:06Tad Eggleston: Oh, for this? Yeah. The, the, the Quickie Mart?
- 43:10Matt: Yeah.
- 43:11Matt: Because that's what it reminds me of. And then there's Marco, I'm like, oh shit, they're not in the circuit.
- 43:16Tad Eggleston: Are those cups of ramen noodles?
- 43:19Matt: cups of ramen noodles. Yup, they probably are.
- 43:24Tad Eggleston: And I'm pretty certain he's grabbing, like… it says… Doke, but it looks like… Either flour or cookies.
- 43:38Tad Eggleston: And I do love the freezer aisle.
- 43:46Tad Eggleston: Just…
- 43:49Josh Eiserike: That's great.
- 43:52Tad Eggleston: And, and, and the, the arcade games.
- 43:58Matt: No, that's just the MCAT, dude.
- 44:00Tad Eggleston: No, I think, because it's got a thing on top, and it's got the weird box…
- 44:07Josh Eiserike: I thought it was a display rack.
- 44:10Tad Eggleston: It could be…
- 44:12Matt: I think the sign on the bathroom door is funnier.
- 44:14Matt: Or more info.
- 44:15Tad Eggleston: I'll give you that. The O and the minus.
- 44:18Matt: Yeah.
- 44:30Tad Eggleston: Goose coming out, hasn't even put his overalls all the way back on.
- 44:33Matt: Yep.
- 44:38Tad Eggleston: Just so much goodness in this book.
- 44:50Tad Eggleston: Well, I think… I think that's it for this month.
- 44:57Tad Eggleston: Next month, Volume 6, and we'll be…
- 45:00Matt: I'm forward to it.
- 45:02Tad Eggleston: Half.
- 45:02belle price: And I'll be out of hell. College will be… on break.
- 45:07belle price: God damn it, yes, I'm so excited to finally, I'll breathe.
- 45:11Tad Eggleston: When do you go back in January?
- 45:13belle price: ugh, late, like, like the 20-something of January. It's a Wednesday. The spring semester always starts on a Wednesday.
- 45:20Tad Eggleston: Gotcha.
- 45:21belle price: Yeah, it's pretty cool.
- 45:23belle price: But I live out in Fredonia now, so I'm going to be locked in doing graduate stuff over break, so don't think I'll be having too much of a break, because I've got much, much.
- 45:31Tad Eggleston: We'll find some comics for you to read.
- 45:34belle price: Much more ahead of me. Oh, I'm gonna play some Zelda, too. I need to finish Echoes of Wisdom, man. Oh my goodness.
- 45:38Tad Eggleston: I might… I might have… oh, I did also like this. Did you guys catch this at the back? I did. And you might not know this, Bill.
- 45:45Tad Eggleston: There, there's… A.
- 45:51Tad Eggleston: some… the winner of their second Saga costume contest got his own page, of art from… from…
- 46:04Tad Eggleston: Fiona, and a story page from Brian.
- 46:08belle price: That's crazy.
- 46:11Matt: That's pretty cool.
- 46:13Tad Eggleston: I mean, the only thing that would have been cooler is if, like.
- 46:17belle price: That's a lot.
- 46:17Tad Eggleston: This art had been the story page.
- 46:21Tad Eggleston: But…
- 46:25Tad Eggleston: Also, did you notice that the story page goes from page 1, panel 1, to page 21, panel 2?
- 46:36belle price: That implies so much more story, I love this.
- 46:38Tad Eggleston: I know.
- 46:40belle price: I love that he, like, couldn't fit what he wanted to do on one page, so he, like, just started, like, page one, panel one, and then, like, edit, fill this in with your brain.
- 46:47Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 46:48belle price: It's great. I love when there's room for the reader to think.
- 46:52Tad Eggleston: So…
- 46:52Matt: Stop.
- 46:53Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 46:54Tad Eggleston: Alright, final thoughts, anybody?
- 46:58Matt: Looking forward to next time.
- 46:59Josh Eiserike: Yup.
- 47:00Tad Eggleston: Alright, Matt, take us out.
- 47:03Matt: We'll continue after the next page.
