- 0:08Speaker 1: Media podcast. Welcome to Meet Eater Trivia, the only game
- 0:12Speaker 1: show where conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer new Arth,
- 0:16Speaker 1: and today we're joined by Randall Williams and some special
- 0:20Speaker 1: guests with us. Number forty two from the University of
- 0:23Speaker 1: Michigan basketball team, Will Cheddar and two members of the
- 0:26Speaker 1: University of Michigan fishing team, Connor Procop and Brady Bush.
- 0:30Speaker 1: And today we are coming to you live from the
- 0:33Speaker 1: tailgate of the Michigan Wolverines versus Texas Longhorns football game
- 0:38Speaker 1: in ann Arbor. We are here on the Meat Eater
- 0:40Speaker 1: Tailgate Tour, which is traveling across the country this fall
- 0:43Speaker 1: to some of the biggest college football games of this season.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Will Connor, Brady Welcome to the show.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Thank you appreciate you having us buck.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Now, as part of this tour, we're doing some hunting
- 0:52Speaker 1: and fishing in each location. You can see this. I
- 0:55Speaker 1: think it's going to be in December or January. You
- 0:57Speaker 1: can see the video we're making. Yesterday, me, rand Connor
- 1:00Speaker 1: and Brody went bass fishing. Randall, try to describe like
- 1:04Speaker 1: that that whole morning. Just one word, Just give me
- 1:07Speaker 1: one word right now.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Oh, one word I'm just gonna go with fantastic.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Fantastic and like that that doesn't even do a justice
- 1:17Speaker 1: it was. It was maybe like the most insane three
- 1:20Speaker 1: hours of fishing. I was trying to react my brain yesterday.
- 1:23Speaker 3: I I actually before you phrase the question that way,
- 1:26Speaker 3: I I was gonna say.
- 1:28Speaker 1: A banner day, a banner day. It was a day.
- 1:31Speaker 4: Yeah, it was a day to be remembered.
- 1:32Speaker 1: I was. I was trying to do a little math.
- 1:34Speaker 1: We were there for about three hours, and if we
- 1:37Speaker 1: caught a fish every three minutes, which which may seem
- 1:39Speaker 1: like that's not that. It might have been like every
- 1:42Speaker 1: two minutes, but let's say it was three minutes, that
- 1:45Speaker 1: means we caught two hundred and forty bass. That does
- 1:48Speaker 1: that seem right? Do that feel like a two hundred
- 1:50Speaker 1: and forty bass day?
- 1:51Speaker 2: I was thinking more of I think a lot more.
- 1:53Speaker 1: I think, Yeah, Connor Brady, you guys ever had a
- 1:56Speaker 1: morning like that of fishing?
- 1:57Speaker 2: Very few? Yeah, very few?
- 1:59Speaker 1: Yeah. We were. We're in ann Arbor. We're like an
- 2:02Speaker 1: hour away from some of the finest walleye and smallmouth
- 2:06Speaker 1: fishing in the world, the Lake Saint Clair, the Detroit River,
- 2:09Speaker 1: Lake Erie, and we could have gone there and we
- 2:11Speaker 1: could have had a different kind of banner day. Uh,
- 2:13Speaker 1: We're like, no, we're gonna do something much dumber than that.
- 2:16Speaker 1: We went to on X to look for hidden bodies
- 2:19Speaker 1: of water in town, and what we found was a
- 2:21Speaker 1: golf course and we got permission to fish there and
- 2:24Speaker 1: they're like, yeah, there's some bass in there, you guys,
- 2:25Speaker 1: you guys are welcome to go out there. And uh,
- 2:27Speaker 1: there were a ton of bass in there.
- 2:30Speaker 3: And I'm glad we went there because I was told
- 2:32Speaker 3: by one of our fellow anglers that had we gone
- 2:37Speaker 3: to the Huron River, based on my technique, I wouldn't
- 2:40Speaker 3: have caught anything. But unexpectedly, I think I caught the
- 2:47Speaker 3: biggest fish.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:48Speaker 4: I think so by quite a bit.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Quite Yeah, probably probably a pound and a half. Yeah,
- 2:53Speaker 1: four and a half pounder, that's right, that's right. Yeah,
- 2:57Speaker 1: you cut a four pounder.
- 2:58Speaker 4: Under three I mean or four. It was year, it
- 3:01Speaker 4: was three and change.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Change it was. It was a big bass. There was
- 3:05Speaker 1: some big bass to be caught. Most everything was like
- 3:07Speaker 1: ten to twelve inches, but but it was fear was
- 3:11Speaker 1: really insane. You guys must think me and Randall a
- 3:14Speaker 1: pretty good fisherman after yesterday, very good, give me give
- 3:17Speaker 1: us an honest review. Okay, Connor, go first, what did
- 3:20Speaker 1: you think of what was happening out there? I don't
- 3:23Speaker 1: know Randall Randalls who said that the fishing on the
- 3:27Speaker 1: Huron was too technical for you.
- 3:29Speaker 3: I believe it was Connor conn It was surely after
- 3:32Speaker 3: he told me that I was fishing my top water
- 3:34Speaker 3: plug incorrectly. And then that was I think that was
- 3:39Speaker 3: before Brady had to retie my mess of a braided
- 3:44Speaker 3: lind tangle. So somewhere in there I remember hearing that
- 3:47Speaker 3: I wouldn't have caught it.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Uh huh. We had the the twenty year old helping
- 3:50Speaker 1: the forty year old with his fishing technologue. Yeah, Brady,
- 3:58Speaker 1: give us You must think that we're like really good, Like.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Honestly, I thought you guys were gonna be a lot worse.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Oh you did, okay, Well, that doesn't make me feel
- 4:06Speaker 1: any better for us. Why'd you think that?
- 4:09Speaker 5: Huh?
- 4:09Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 4:10Speaker 1: I just thought that, Okay, a couple couple of guys.
- 4:13Speaker 4: And someone had to hit the weight room instead of fishing, so.
- 4:18Speaker 6: I would have showed you guys all how to do it.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Connor and Brady yesterday because we were fishing at like
- 4:23Speaker 1: seven am on a Friday, and I was like, are
- 4:26Speaker 1: you guys skipping class? And they go, uh, it'll be fine,
- 4:30Speaker 1: which was not a no question. That wasn't what we got.
- 4:35Speaker 1: I know, you guys on the University of Michigan fishing team,
- 4:38Speaker 1: what does that even mean?
- 4:40Speaker 7: Basically, it's it's a club, so we're not sponsored by
- 4:43Speaker 7: the university, but it's a club of anglers and we
- 4:45Speaker 7: all get together fish sometimes, just talk fishing, and.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Do you guys do tournaments?
- 4:50Speaker 2: We do a few tournaments throughout the year, not a lot.
- 4:53Speaker 7: We'd like to get into more, but the university doesn't
- 4:56Speaker 7: sponsor us, so it's hard to get a boat.
- 4:58Speaker 1: I heard multiple people ask you today if you guys
- 5:00Speaker 1: were on scholarship, that's not the case. I would be
- 5:05Speaker 1: very high when when you guys are doing tournaments, is
- 5:07Speaker 1: that against like, uh, the other members in the club
- 5:10Speaker 1: were against other schools who have clubs, other schools. Yeah,
- 5:13Speaker 1: you like other tournaments from the club itself, just a
- 5:16Speaker 1: little like what is University of Michigan's reputation among all
- 5:21Speaker 1: the fishing.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Teams among the fishing you guys competitive?
- 5:25Speaker 7: I would like to think so, But it's tough because
- 5:27Speaker 7: a lot of these other schools get pretty good funding.
- 5:30Speaker 7: I would say so, But I think I think we're
- 5:32Speaker 7: pretty competitive when we do fish tournaments. They were fish
- 5:37Speaker 7: the tournament recently and yeah, we were like fifth place
- 5:39Speaker 7: after the first day.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Oh and this was just like anyone could enter. It
- 5:43Speaker 1: was like a collegiate tournament.
- 5:44Speaker 2: This was our state the state college championship.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Hell yeah.
- 5:47Speaker 3: So if there are any you know, well healed donors
- 5:50Speaker 3: and boosters out there that would like to chop out
- 5:53Speaker 3: a couple of beast crazy young men toss with some dough.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Yeah, they were wearing their jerseys yesterday. That add their
- 6:00Speaker 1: sponsors on there, you get nice placement on there. Now
- 6:04Speaker 1: also joining us as Will Cheddar and he would have
- 6:06Speaker 1: been there yesterday, but he had basketball practice and and
- 6:08Speaker 1: Will even invited us to come to practice yesterday.
- 6:12Speaker 5: Will.
- 6:12Speaker 1: How tall are you?
- 6:13Speaker 6: I'm about six ' nine.
- 6:15Speaker 1: About six nine. Does that make okay? Does that make
- 6:19Speaker 1: it like harder or easier to be an outdoorsman?
- 6:23Speaker 6: I mean, it really depends what you're fishing for. If
- 6:26Speaker 6: I'm completely honest, you know, if you're trying to.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Win's it good to be six eight sight fishing, you.
- 6:33Speaker 4: Can tell you you can go to Pyramid Lake.
- 6:38Speaker 6: But also it's like a disavanage, you know, because like
- 6:40Speaker 6: if you're fishing like a tiny little stream with some
- 6:42Speaker 6: clear water, you know, they can see your shadow, they
- 6:45Speaker 6: can see you. You know, they're scattering all over the place,
- 6:48Speaker 6: you know, some you know, so sometimes you know, you
- 6:49Speaker 6: gotta get a little gritty. You know, you gotta get
- 6:51Speaker 6: down on your hands and knees.
- 6:52Speaker 1: You know, you gotta get ready.
- 6:53Speaker 6: You gotta, you know, sneak up on them.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Will is a junior on the basketball team. And uh,
- 6:59Speaker 1: what I was looking at at his high school stats
- 7:01Speaker 1: average thirty three point four points per game.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Yeah, that was a great time just in my life.
- 7:11Speaker 1: That was great. I've got some trivia here for Randall.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Will was a four star recruit in high school. There
- 7:17Speaker 1: were only there was only one Minnesotan ranked higher than
- 7:20Speaker 1: him in the twenty twenty one class. That player went
- 7:23Speaker 1: to Gonzaga. Do you know who it was? Randall?
- 7:26Speaker 4: In the twenty twenty one class twenty.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Twenty one high school class number one player ranked higher
- 7:32Speaker 1: did beat chat? It was chet Holm. Did you ever
- 7:34Speaker 1: play against chet Yeah? I did. I've played against him.
- 7:37Speaker 2: This is actually a really good story. Okay.
- 7:39Speaker 6: We chet was supposed to play this team from Tennessee,
- 7:42Speaker 6: Mike Miller's son, and they got snowed out and so we.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Got a call. So it was that was that team
- 7:48Speaker 1: in Mitchell, South Dakota. Where were they? They were out
- 7:50Speaker 1: of somewhere in Tennessee prep school. Yeah, and we got
- 7:53Speaker 1: called up.
- 7:54Speaker 6: Our ad got a call from the mini haha who
- 7:56Speaker 6: check played for their ad is like, would you guys
- 7:59Speaker 6: have any interesting playing on ESPN today?
- 8:01Speaker 1: And we that morning we got the call and that
- 8:04Speaker 1: night we were playing chat on ESPN. Amazing. Yeah, and
- 8:08Speaker 1: we only lost my nineteen Okay.
- 8:11Speaker 4: How many did you have?
- 8:13Speaker 2: Like twenty?
- 8:13Speaker 4: Nice?
- 8:14Speaker 2: Yeah, not a bad night.
- 8:15Speaker 4: Last summer I'm sure. Huh you're a fishing I'm sure.
- 8:18Speaker 6: Oh yeah, that might have been you know a little bit.
- 8:23Speaker 1: You can just lie, just lie yep. Now, last summer
- 8:27Speaker 1: Will worked on a bison ranch in Montana.
- 8:30Speaker 4: Uh.
- 8:30Speaker 1: And that was actually from Matt Skoglan from North Bridge
- 8:33Speaker 1: or Bis. We've done a lot of stuff with Matt.
- 8:34Speaker 1: You could go to YouTube and watch our Clovis Point
- 8:37Speaker 1: bison butchering video. We did the bullboat race with one
- 8:40Speaker 1: of his bison hides. What was it like working on
- 8:43Speaker 1: a bison ranch in Montana in the summer.
- 8:45Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, I don't have enough good things to
- 8:47Speaker 6: say about Matt. I know you guys probably feel the
- 8:49Speaker 6: same way.
- 8:49Speaker 2: He's just a great guy.
- 8:51Speaker 6: You know, being able to spend time on you know
- 8:53Speaker 6: out in Bozeman area, you know, zero complaints whatsoever, great fishing,
- 8:57Speaker 6: you know, great views, great people. So you know that
- 9:01Speaker 6: was It's helped me so much, and you know my academics,
- 9:04Speaker 6: you know, being able to spend time out there, get
- 9:06Speaker 6: to know people, so super going back this summer, Dude,
- 9:08Speaker 6: I go back whenever I can.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Like, I went back, you know once this spring.
- 9:14Speaker 6: You know, I got to fish a ton, and then
- 9:15Speaker 6: I got to go back for you know, one of
- 9:17Speaker 6: like an event that Matt had on his ranch this year,
- 9:19Speaker 6: so I got to go back twice, which is I'm
- 9:21Speaker 6: super fortunate for.
- 9:22Speaker 1: So No, Yeah, it was great that we're about to
- 9:24Speaker 1: play some trivia here among all this chaos. So this
- 9:27Speaker 1: is gonna be maybe a little sloppier than normal, but
- 9:30Speaker 1: but it's it's gonna be fun. There's a lot going
- 9:32Speaker 1: on here. And when we played trivia, Randal always wins
- 9:36Speaker 1: at trivia and the damn guy caught the biggest bass
- 9:38Speaker 1: yesterday and I'm just like tired of it. And so
- 9:40Speaker 1: I told Randall that I'm going to give our players here,
- 9:43Speaker 1: our guests, an advantage for this week's game. And he's
- 9:46Speaker 1: been stressing about it for the last ten days. What
- 9:49Speaker 1: do you think is going to happen, Randall?
- 9:51Speaker 3: I have no idea. I have no idea. I've been
- 9:56Speaker 3: told that I will be at a distinct disadvantage in this,
- 10:01Speaker 3: and he's worried about it. I was sleepless last night.
- 10:04Speaker 3: I was tossing and turning in my bed, wondering what
- 10:10Speaker 3: these questions would look like.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Well, here it is. Now. Randall is a doctor, in
- 10:13Speaker 1: case you guys didn't know, and that gives an upper
- 10:15Speaker 1: hand on these college kids who aren't done book learning yet.
- 10:19Speaker 1: So to even out today's game, all of their questions
- 10:22Speaker 1: will be multiple choice, while all of Randall's questions are not.
- 10:27Speaker 1: So when I asked the question, we'll give Randall like
- 10:30Speaker 1: a minute to answer. He'll come up with his answer,
- 10:32Speaker 1: and then I will give you other three the multiple
- 10:35Speaker 1: choice options for that question. It's a fun twists, it's
- 10:39Speaker 1: a we're gonna make sure Randall doesn't win. Here's the
- 10:42Speaker 1: other thing. You guys are competing for a five hundred
- 10:45Speaker 1: dollars donation today. If Connor Brady or Will wins, that
- 10:49Speaker 1: money will go to the University of Michigan fishing team,
- 10:52Speaker 1: and if Randall wins, that money will go to their rival,
- 10:55Speaker 1: the Ohio State University. So five the line going to
- 11:02Speaker 1: some collegiate university club fishing team today. Find out who
- 11:07Speaker 1: that is. Plan for keeps boys, Let's not let Randall win.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Let me start with that. We're onto the game of trivia.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Play the drop phill.
- 11:19Speaker 4: I need to know what I stand to win everything.
- 11:23Speaker 4: That's just tend to win everything.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Game on Suckers. Question one. The topic is public lands
- 11:38Speaker 1: and not Normally this is multiple choice for all the players,
- 11:41Speaker 1: but today that will not be multiple choice for Randall.
- 11:44Speaker 1: It's just open ended for him. This Native American tribe
- 11:48Speaker 1: has a national forest named after them in Minnesota, river
- 11:52Speaker 1: named after them in Wisconsin, and college mascot named after
- 11:56Speaker 1: them in Michigan. M We'll give r a minute to
- 12:01Speaker 1: think about this and come up with his answer. I
- 12:03Speaker 1: will then give you other three your four choices. Here's
- 12:06Speaker 1: the question again, This Native American tribe has a national
- 12:11Speaker 1: forest named after them in Minnesota, River named after them
- 12:15Speaker 1: in Wisconsin, and college mascot named after them in Michigan. Randall,
- 12:21Speaker 1: you tell me when you're done with your answer.
- 12:23Speaker 4: I think I'm done with my aswer.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Okay, your four choices for you? Other three players are Choctaw, Ottawa, Sue,
- 12:32Speaker 1: or Chippewa. This Native American tribe has a national forest
- 12:37Speaker 1: named after them in Minnesota, River named after them in Wisconsin,
- 12:40Speaker 1: and college mascot named after them in Michigan. Chactaw, Ottawa,
- 12:45Speaker 1: Sue or Chippewa. Randall. One of those four choices is
- 12:49Speaker 1: do you have your answers one of these two?
- 12:51Speaker 4: Okay?
- 12:51Speaker 1: He does? And I noticed Brady didn't even need to
- 12:54Speaker 1: come up with an answer. Okay, is everybody ready? Go
- 12:59Speaker 1: ahead and can reveal your answers? We have, Randall saying, Chippewa, Connor, Sue,
- 13:07Speaker 1: Will and Copy Braik. They got it. The correct is
- 13:13Speaker 1: the Chippewa to cross the Great Lakes and Upper Great Plains.
- 13:18Speaker 1: The tribe was known for their birch bark, canoes, copper,
- 13:21Speaker 1: wild rice, and maple syrup. The Chippewa with excellent anglers,
- 13:26Speaker 1: with whitefish, sturgeon and walleye being a primary part of
- 13:29Speaker 1: their diet. Question two, the topic is conservation. This is
- 13:34Speaker 1: an audio question. Phil is going to play you one
- 13:36Speaker 1: minute of a song, and you need to tell me
- 13:39Speaker 1: what band that is. Here's why this question is relevant.
- 13:41Speaker 1: The lead singer of this band once donated a one
- 13:45Speaker 1: thousand acre ranch to a non profit land trust. Take
- 13:49Speaker 1: it away. Phil oh Randall needed two notes to write
- 13:55Speaker 1: down his answer. Will he doesn't need any choices?
- 14:00Speaker 4: This is good pregame music. Feel ready to follow right here?
- 14:08Speaker 1: Every high school of football. Yeah, we've got playing.
- 14:14Speaker 4: Flashbacks. You got another name of that?
- 14:27Speaker 1: Come on, all right, your four choices for who this
- 14:34Speaker 1: band is? Our Nirvana, Metallica A C D C or
- 14:40Speaker 1: Grateful Dead.
- 14:43Speaker 2: I'm actually a little bit nervous about my answer.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Not Nirvana, Metallica A C d C or Grateful Dead again.
- 14:52Speaker 1: The lead singer of this band once donated a one
- 14:55Speaker 1: thousand acre ranch to a nonprofit land trust. Havana Metallica ad.
- 15:05Speaker 3: Yeah, he's a big coup, you guy.
- 15:07Speaker 4: I'll give you that him.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Oh I didn't I didn't know. Oh yeah, is everybody ready?
- 15:13Speaker 1: Nal uh? Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have
- 15:18Speaker 1: Randall saying Metallica, Connor saying Metallica, Will sang Metallica, and
- 15:23Speaker 1: Brady saying Nirvana. The correct answer is Metallica are of
- 15:29Speaker 1: our players, got it? James right, allied up right. James
- 15:35Speaker 1: Hetfield owned land north of San Francisco that he attempted
- 15:39Speaker 1: to develop in twenty eleven. Locals pushed back against Hetfield,
- 15:43Speaker 1: who wound up in a long legal battle over the property. Then,
- 15:47Speaker 1: in a stunning pivot, he instead donated the land to
- 15:50Speaker 1: the Marin egg Land Trust. They are a nonprofit who
- 15:53Speaker 1: protects farbes and ranches from being developed, which is exactly
- 15:57Speaker 1: what Hetfield was originally going to do. And Metallica's song
- 16:01Speaker 1: enter Sandmn that you just heard was named the twenty
- 16:04Speaker 1: third greatest jock jam of all time by Billboard. It
- 16:07Speaker 1: was famously the entrance song from Mariano Rivera and he has
- 16:11Speaker 1: always played at Virginia Tech football games. It is uh Marin, Oh,
- 16:17Speaker 1: it's Marin Marin. I did not know that you're very
- 16:19Speaker 1: familiar with the Bay area.
- 16:21Speaker 3: I am okay, Well, I think that's that coup you
- 16:23Speaker 3: connection to that NorCal scene.
- 16:25Speaker 1: And Randall said that song makes him want a funnel
- 16:27Speaker 1: a beer. He also declared earlier this week that if
- 16:32Speaker 1: some college kid were to try to get into Shotgun,
- 16:34Speaker 1: he would just have to oblige.
- 16:36Speaker 4: I oh, I am.
- 16:37Speaker 3: I think I'm the only contestant this morning who has
- 16:39Speaker 3: not funneled a beer yet.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Okay, that's good to know.
- 16:43Speaker 4: Connor, Yeah, oh don okay mean Connor.
- 16:47Speaker 1: Perio is question three. The topic is fishing. This is
- 16:50Speaker 1: our listener question of the week, which was won by
- 16:53Speaker 1: Jerry Syric for sending this great question. Jerry is going
- 16:56Speaker 1: to get a board game signed by the crew. If
- 16:58Speaker 1: you want a chance to win the list your question
- 17:00Speaker 1: of the week and send your question to Trivia at
- 17:02Speaker 1: the meadeater dot com. What's the anatomical name for the
- 17:06Speaker 1: whisker like sensory organs near the mouth of catfish, sturgeon,
- 17:11Speaker 1: and carp Randall does not need any time or choices.
- 17:17Speaker 1: You're very confident. Okay, your four choices are barble, nair, couddle,
- 17:23Speaker 1: or odolith.
- 17:24Speaker 4: I'm a catfish man at heart.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Spencer, Uh huh, what's the anatomical name?
- 17:29Speaker 4: I thought we were gonna get a bass lure question.
- 17:31Speaker 1: What's the anatomical name for the whisker like sensory organs
- 17:35Speaker 1: near the mouth of catfish, sturgeon, and carp Is it barble, nair, coddle,
- 17:42Speaker 1: or odolith? Is everybody ready go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 17:48Speaker 1: We have Randall saying barble, Connor saying barble. All four
- 17:52Speaker 1: players say barble. They got it. The correct answer is barble.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Did you boys need the choices on that one? Or
- 17:58Speaker 1: did you just not? Okay? I just forget the name
- 18:02Speaker 1: strong competitors over here. The word barble is derived from
- 18:05Speaker 1: the Latin word barbula, which means little beard. Barbles have
- 18:10Speaker 1: taste buds that help fish locate food in murky water.
- 18:14Speaker 1: It's been observed that some fish will grow longer whiskers
- 18:17Speaker 1: when starved of nutrition in lab conditions, so that they
- 18:21Speaker 1: can increase their odds of finding food. Question four. The
- 18:25Speaker 1: topic is hunting. This twenty eighteen video game allows players
- 18:31Speaker 1: to hunt fish forage, rockhound, break horses, cook wild game,
- 18:36Speaker 1: sell pelts, and stop poachers. Eighteen twenty eighteen eight. This
- 18:42Speaker 1: twenty eighteen video game allows players to hunt fish forage,
- 18:48Speaker 1: rock hoound, break horses, cook wild game, sell pelts, and
- 18:53Speaker 1: stop poachers.
- 18:58Speaker 3: I am I am, but I this is a spinoff.
- 19:01Speaker 3: This is an adaptation of an earlier franchise.
- 19:04Speaker 4: Correct me, I'm wrong.
- 19:06Speaker 1: No one's going to correct if they're wrong. All right,
- 19:09Speaker 1: Here are your four choices. Is it Assassin's Creed three,
- 19:13Speaker 1: The Hunter, Call of the Wild, Red Dead, Redemption two,
- 19:17Speaker 1: or Far Cry four. This twenty eighteen video game allows
- 19:23Speaker 1: players to hunt, fish, forage, rockhound, break horses, cook wild games,
- 19:26Speaker 1: self helps, and stop poachers. If fil choices Assassin's Creed,
- 19:31Speaker 1: the Hunter, Red Dead, Redemption or Far Cry, Hey Will,
- 19:36Speaker 1: you're you're three for three?
- 19:37Speaker 7: Right?
- 19:37Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 19:38Speaker 1: I thought I'm a good reminder.
- 19:40Speaker 2: I'm going on.
- 19:40Speaker 1: I'm hanging here. Everybody ready, I being a video game
- 19:45Speaker 1: and you guys are college students. I thought this would
- 19:48Speaker 1: be like just a gimme no video game with my wife.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Randalls saying
- 19:56Speaker 1: red Dead, Redemption, Connor says the Hunter, Call of the Mild,
- 20:00Speaker 1: Will says the same thing, Hunter called the Wild, and
- 20:03Speaker 1: Brady says Far Cry for The correct answer is Red Dead, Redemptions.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Damn Randall got it right.
- 20:13Speaker 4: Red Dead Revolver is like.
- 20:16Speaker 5: That's why I was confused.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Red Dead Redemption two takes place in the United States
- 20:24Speaker 1: in eighteen ninety nine. The game includes about twenty huntable
- 20:28Speaker 1: animals and a dozen catchable fish. In one storyline, you
- 20:32Speaker 1: come upon a herd of bison that's been killed, but
- 20:34Speaker 1: none of their meat has been taken. You then find
- 20:37Speaker 1: a nearby camp with two men who confess that they
- 20:39Speaker 1: poached the bison and then tried to make it look
- 20:42Speaker 1: like Native Americans did it. You're then given the choice
- 20:44Speaker 1: of killing the poachers or letting them go. When I played,
- 20:48Speaker 1: I gave those poachers the death penalty. Question five. The
- 20:52Speaker 1: topic is gear. This boat brand is best known for
- 20:57Speaker 1: their pro v series, which they've sold for thirty six years. Oh,
- 21:03Speaker 1: he's the first time Randall has not been incredibly comment
- 21:08Speaker 1: in the question five, the topic is gift. This boat
- 21:13Speaker 1: brand is best known for their pro series, which years
- 21:19Speaker 1: for thirty six years. Randall has still yet to man,
- 21:29Speaker 1: I don't know. He's now going to his whiteboard. This
- 21:34Speaker 1: boat brand is best known for their pro v series,
- 21:37Speaker 1: which they've sold for thirty six years. And this is
- 21:40Speaker 1: question five, so after this we will get a scoreboard update.
- 21:43Speaker 5: It's what they're the engineer that what they're what they're
- 21:46Speaker 5: best known for I'm.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Not gonna I said, best known for their program have
- 21:51Speaker 1: sold for thirty six years. Oh rand.
- 21:57Speaker 4: Answer, I don't know.
- 21:58Speaker 1: He's made in decision to race is going for a
- 22:02Speaker 1: third answer, and he's back his original.
- 22:05Speaker 4: I don't like it it is.
- 22:07Speaker 1: He's done with his answer. Your four choices are Lund, bass, Cat,
- 22:13Speaker 1: Skeeter or Legend. Oh yeah, Randall, do you have one
- 22:18Speaker 1: of those four answers?
- 22:20Speaker 3: I wasn't even listening after Old Randall is not.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Going to get this one?
- 22:25Speaker 5: I could. I could tell you what it is now
- 22:28Speaker 5: you think no?
- 22:28Speaker 4: I do?
- 22:29Speaker 1: Is every again? Your four choices? Lund, Bass, Cat, Skeeter
- 22:32Speaker 1: or legend? Is everybody ready?
- 22:35Speaker 2: Sir?
- 22:35Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Randall who
- 22:38Speaker 1: said a lumicraft and then after he's given a choice,
- 22:42Speaker 1: he put Connor says Lund, Will and Brady say they
- 22:48Speaker 1: all got except for Randy.
- 22:52Speaker 4: Again.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Lon day Beard their pro v series in nineteen eighty
- 22:57Speaker 1: eight and it's been their flagship boat. Every Sense pro
- 23:01Speaker 1: v's are considered multi species votes rather than being specialized
- 23:05Speaker 1: for just bass war Walleye. They're best known for having
- 23:07Speaker 1: a large interior and plenty of stories. Phil, we are
- 23:11Speaker 1: halfway through the game of trivia. Give us a scoreboard update.
- 23:15Speaker 1: It's close, boys.
- 23:16Speaker 8: We got Connor and Brady tied up with three points
- 23:19Speaker 8: and then tied up in first place.
- 23:21Speaker 1: A Randaling will with four. Okay, I'm here, game going.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Question six. The topic is wildlife. Oh yeah, this is
- 23:35Speaker 1: the most common state reptile in America, representing Colorado, Illinois, Michigan,
- 23:42Speaker 1: and Vermont. This is the most common state reptile in America,
- 23:50Speaker 1: representing Colorado, Illinois, Michigan, and Vermont. Randall is stumped again.
- 23:58Speaker 6: When you say reptile, you mean like state would have steak, mammal,
- 24:07Speaker 6: state fish.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Perfect.
- 24:08Speaker 3: How specific do you want us to be on this one?
- 24:11Speaker 3: If if you for me, I should say, because everybody
- 24:13Speaker 3: else gets the answers exact.
- 24:15Speaker 1: You need to be specific. Like if this question were
- 24:17Speaker 1: about mammals, you couldn't just say the state mammal is
- 24:21Speaker 1: a dog. That that would not work. Again, it's the
- 24:26Speaker 1: most common state reptile in America, representing Colorado, Illinois, Michigan,
- 24:33Speaker 1: and Vermont. Randall, you've done with your answer. That's a
- 24:37Speaker 1: wide variety of state. With his answer, your four choices
- 24:43Speaker 1: are rattlesnake, snapping turtle, bull snake, or painted turtle.
- 24:50Speaker 6: HM.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Hm, your four choices rattlesnake, snapping turtle, bull snake, or
- 24:57Speaker 1: painted turtle. Most common state reptile America?
- 25:00Speaker 2: What are the states again?
- 25:01Speaker 1: Colorado, Illinois, Michigan, and Vermont. We've got a few players
- 25:09Speaker 1: on our team who grew up in Michigan, another player
- 25:12Speaker 1: who now lives in Michigan, and they don't seem to
- 25:15Speaker 1: be confident about what their own state reptile is.
- 25:19Speaker 2: I got it.
- 25:19Speaker 3: I'll be honest, Spencer. I don't think anybody cares about
- 25:23Speaker 3: state reptiles.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Everybody ready, four choices rattlesnake, snapping, turtle, bull snake, painted turtle.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Randall saying
- 25:34Speaker 1: fox turtle, which was not one of the four choices.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Connor says painted turtle. Will says painted turtle. I think
- 25:43Speaker 1: it's the correct answer is painted turtles. Our three Michigan
- 25:50Speaker 1: students got that one point. In many states, state reptiles
- 25:54Speaker 1: are lobbyfore on behalf of school children, including three of
- 25:58Speaker 1: the four states that chose the painted turtle. Virginia is
- 26:01Speaker 1: one of the newest states that chose a state reptile,
- 26:04Speaker 1: electing for the garter snake. They consider doing a box
- 26:08Speaker 1: turtle about a decade ago, but decided its practice of
- 26:12Speaker 1: hiding in its shell is too cowardly and that their
- 26:15Speaker 1: state symbols shouldn't be splattered all over roads.
- 26:17Speaker 3: That's why I thought box turtle. I forgot that they
- 26:20Speaker 3: went against the initial.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Question seven, the topic is wildlife. What university has a
- 26:29Speaker 1: bison named Relfie who runs across the field before football games?
- 26:35Speaker 1: Randal is getting his confidence back a little bit. He's
- 26:39Speaker 1: eager to write down his answer for question seven. What
- 26:42Speaker 1: university as a bison named Ralphie who runs across the
- 26:46Speaker 1: field before football games? Randal, are you done with your answer?
- 26:50Speaker 4: I am? Okay.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Here are your choices for the other three players.
- 26:55Speaker 4: Don't overthink it.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Is it University of Wyoming, Oklahoma State, University, University of Colorado,
- 27:03Speaker 1: or North Dakota State univer Shoot, what university has a
- 27:10Speaker 1: bison named relphieuns across or football games? University of Wyoming,
- 27:18Speaker 1: Oklahoma State University, University of Colorado or North Dakota State.
- 27:24Speaker 1: I can't remember.
- 27:26Speaker 4: I can't remember.
- 27:27Speaker 1: If Randall, do you have one of those four answers
- 27:30Speaker 1: as your answer, I do okay, Randall is threatening to
- 27:34Speaker 1: get this one right. Sorry, are you other three ready?
- 27:38Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Randall saying
- 27:42Speaker 1: see you Boulder. Connor says North Dakota, State, Will says Colorado.
- 27:49Speaker 1: Brady says Colorado. The correct answer is the University of Colorado.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Three of our dollar players got that one right. The
- 27:59Speaker 1: University of Colorado has had a live bison on their
- 28:02Speaker 1: sideline since nineteen fifty seven. They introduced Ralphie one in
- 28:07Speaker 1: nineteen sixty six and they are now on Ralphie six.
- 28:11Speaker 1: The college always chooses a female bison to be Ralfie
- 28:14Speaker 1: because they're smaller and less aggressive. Ralfie lives on an
- 28:17Speaker 1: undisclosed ranch outside of Boulder, which the university keeps private
- 28:22Speaker 1: to protect the bison from getting visitors. Question eight, the
- 28:27Speaker 1: topic is cooking. What countries cuisine are calamari and carpaccio?
- 28:37Speaker 1: What countries cuisine are calamari and carpaccio? Randall? Are you
- 28:44Speaker 1: done with your answer? He was quick to answer, this
- 28:47Speaker 1: is question eight.
- 28:49Speaker 4: I believe, so okay.
- 28:50Speaker 1: Here are the four choices. Is it France, Greece, Japan
- 28:56Speaker 1: or Italy Randall, Do you have one of those?
- 29:00Speaker 4: Or I do.
- 29:03Speaker 1: Cuisine or Calamari and Carpaccio France, Greece, Japan or Italy.
- 29:10Speaker 4: You guys thinking I'll come on?
- 29:13Speaker 1: Is this Is this the least confident you you other
- 29:16Speaker 1: three have felt yet I should know this because I
- 29:18Speaker 1: watched a lot of.
- 29:19Speaker 3: I'd say you're beating me fair and square. But clearly,
- 29:22Speaker 3: by the rules of this contest, you're not.
- 29:26Speaker 1: Play one on one. After this. You play one on
- 29:30Speaker 1: one and rand Will gets to ten point lead.
- 29:32Speaker 3: I would say he's probably uh, He's probably answered just
- 29:36Speaker 3: as many of them without the clue.
- 29:39Speaker 1: Is everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 29:43Speaker 1: have Randall and Connor and Will saying Italy, Brady who
- 29:48Speaker 1: just declared he watches a lot of Gordon rand says Japan.
- 29:52Speaker 1: And the correct answer is Italy. Calamari comes from the
- 29:57Speaker 1: Italian word for squid fried calamari has It's long been
- 30:00Speaker 1: a popular Mediterranean dish, but it didn't resonate with the
- 30:05Speaker 1: until the nineteen eighties. A large reason why it took
- 30:08Speaker 1: off in popularity was the marketing shift from calling it
- 30:11Speaker 1: squid to calling it calamari. This change helped usher in
- 30:15Speaker 1: a booming Calamari market, with American sales doubling between nineteen
- 30:19Speaker 1: eighty nine in nineteen ninety four. We have two questions left, Phil,
- 30:24Speaker 1: give us a scoreboard update. Pressure, everyone is still in
- 30:28Speaker 1: the game. Oh, technically it's good.
- 30:30Speaker 8: You've got Brady and Connor tied up with five points
- 30:33Speaker 8: and then coming up next in second place is Randall.
- 30:35Speaker 8: Williams was six and in first with seven points is.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Willy and Randall has already declared it's been a quite
- 30:42Speaker 1: an honest game from will Back there, I would say so.
- 30:46Speaker 4: Yeah. I have to say this is an impressive showing.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Two questions left, here's question nine. The topic is fishing.
- 30:53Speaker 1: This NFL Hall of Famer wore a straight Bass homie
- 30:58Speaker 1: shirt at his Minnesota chairarity fishing event he hosted in
- 31:02Speaker 1: twenty twenty one. Oh lord, This NFL Hall of Famer
- 31:08Speaker 1: wore a quote straight bass homie shirt at the Minnesota
- 31:14Speaker 1: charity fishing event he hosted in twenty twenty one. What's
- 31:19Speaker 1: going on behind us? Back there? Phil, do you have a.
- 31:22Speaker 4: They're cheering for a comeback?
- 31:23Speaker 1: Spencer Randall? Are you ready with your answer? Okay? Your
- 31:27Speaker 1: choices for the other three are Mike l Irvin, Randy Moss,
- 31:32Speaker 1: Jerry Rice or Kelvin Johnson. This Hall of Famer wore
- 31:38Speaker 1: a straight bass homie at a Minnesota charity fishing event
- 31:42Speaker 1: twenty twenty one. Randall, do you have one of those?
- 31:48Speaker 1: As your answer?
- 31:51Speaker 4: I does?
- 31:51Speaker 1: Okay? Is everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 31:56Speaker 1: We have Randy saying Randy Moss, connors as Kelvin Johnson,
- 32:02Speaker 1: Will says Randy Moss, Brady says Randy Moss. The correct
- 32:06Speaker 1: answer is Randy Moss. Three of our four players got it.
- 32:12Speaker 1: Randy's Straight Bass Classic was held on Lake Minnie Taka.
- 32:17Speaker 1: The name of the event and shirt he was wearing
- 32:20Speaker 1: were inspired by an interview he gave in two thousand
- 32:23Speaker 1: and five. After scoring the winning touchdown against the Packers
- 32:26Speaker 1: in a Lambeo Field playoff game, Moss fake mooned the fans.
- 32:31Speaker 1: The league didn't find it funny and find Moss ten
- 32:33Speaker 1: thousand dollars. Then a few days later, while getting into
- 32:36Speaker 1: his car outside of a team facility, a reporter asked
- 32:40Speaker 1: Randy how he'd pay the fine. This was that exchange
- 32:46Speaker 1: red check yet, Rady Witch, you don't write chicks.
- 32:54Speaker 8: How do you pay man?
- 32:56Speaker 1: If you don't write checks, how do you pay these guys?
- 32:58Speaker 6: Draight cash?
- 33:00Speaker 1: I feel like I said that line a million times
- 33:03Speaker 1: in my childhood. Will growing up in Minnesota, it was
- 33:07Speaker 1: like straight cash, homie was at in your vernacular for
- 33:10Speaker 1: a long time. Were you too young for that? I
- 33:12Speaker 1: think generation okay, too young for straight bass homie. We're
- 33:16Speaker 1: onto question ten. We have Randall and Will left in
- 33:20Speaker 1: the game. Randall is one point behind Will. Who has
- 33:26Speaker 1: the lead with Is it eight? Correct? Answers? Yes? Will
- 33:29Speaker 1: has eight? Here is question ten. The topic is natural
- 33:32Speaker 1: history and this next great question is via Jacob Hubbard.
- 33:36Speaker 1: What continent was hit by the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs? Oh?
- 33:41Speaker 1: My god?
- 33:42Speaker 4: Would you consider this?
- 33:43Speaker 1: Randal is very confident? The topic is natural history? What
- 33:47Speaker 1: continent was hit by the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs?
- 33:52Speaker 1: I mean, I know where could I put a country?
- 33:55Speaker 1: What I'm going to give you choices in a second,
- 33:58Speaker 1: and it was what voices got. Randall was confident choices.
- 34:09Speaker 1: You you want to go mono? You mono here with Randall?
- 34:13Speaker 1: Huh yeah, I'll go No.
- 34:14Speaker 2: No no, no, no no, no, well I don't.
- 34:17Speaker 4: Know's put your board down.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Just put okay, he's uh. We have Will, who has
- 34:22Speaker 1: the option of using choices electing not to use choices.
- 34:25Speaker 1: And I just want to clarify, Will you have a
- 34:28Speaker 1: continent not a country? Right?
- 34:30Speaker 7: No?
- 34:30Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, okay, I.
- 34:31Speaker 4: Wish I could do a country.
- 34:33Speaker 1: I don't see how that would be easier. But I'm
- 34:35Speaker 1: now going to give the four choices to the two
- 34:37Speaker 1: players who would like them. Your options are North America, Africa, Asia,
- 34:44Speaker 1: or Antarctica.
- 34:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:48Speaker 1: Will is confident and Randall too, but I think I
- 34:51Speaker 1: got it.
- 34:52Speaker 3: Just to be clear, we're assuming that the chicks loop
- 34:54Speaker 3: impact killed the dinosaurs.
- 34:57Speaker 1: Yes, I want to hear. Yeah, that is everybody ready,
- 35:04Speaker 1: go ahead and reveal your answers. And this is a
- 35:07Speaker 1: five hundred dollars don't on the line to the University
- 35:12Speaker 1: of Michigan or the Ohio State University Fishing. We have
- 35:17Speaker 1: Randall sang North America, Connor says North America. Will says
- 35:21Speaker 1: North America. He didn't need the choices, and Brady sang
- 35:25Speaker 1: north of America. The correct answer is North America, making
- 35:30Speaker 1: Will our winner.
- 35:32Speaker 4: Let's go your game.
- 35:34Speaker 3: You play the game the right way.
- 35:37Speaker 1: The asteroid that killed the dinosaurs suck the Yucatan Peninsula
- 35:41Speaker 1: sixty six million years ago. It's estimated that the asteroid
- 35:45Speaker 1: was about six miles wide and moving at a speed
- 35:47Speaker 1: of forty five thousand miles per hour. The chick Slub
- 35:51Speaker 1: crater was created at the site of impact, but is
- 35:54Speaker 1: slowly filled into the point where it's barely visible. Today,
- 35:59Speaker 1: Will again is our winner. That means he gets to
- 36:02Speaker 1: give me five hundred dollars donation on behalf of him
- 36:06Speaker 1: and meat eater to the University of Michigan fishing team.
- 36:09Speaker 1: So now Connor and Brady can what can you buy
- 36:11Speaker 1: with five hundred dollars like twelve of those Japanese yesterday?
- 36:17Speaker 2: Maybe?
- 36:18Speaker 4: Maybe?
- 36:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel better about this actually because they're probably
- 36:21Speaker 3: gonna need to replace some taco after I've been manhandling
- 36:25Speaker 3: it for a morning.
- 36:25Speaker 1: Uh huh. Randall was a little destructive yesterday, Randall or
- 36:29Speaker 1: the bass I'm not sure which. Well done, Will that was?
- 36:33Speaker 1: You know what? Like you said Randall and Brady said,
- 36:36Speaker 1: you didn't even need the choices that often.
- 36:38Speaker 3: When they when they announced you this season, is this
- 36:41Speaker 3: gonna be part of the high.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Yeah, champion, Will.
- 36:49Speaker 2: Raised the banner.
- 36:50Speaker 1: That's right.
- 36:51Speaker 4: Fantastic, Gang Well done.
- 36:52Speaker 1: Boys. Now, like I said, the five hundred dollars donation
- 36:56Speaker 1: going there, we should go to the game now. I
- 36:58Speaker 1: think it's about that time to head the same. Let's
- 37:00Speaker 1: do it on all right. Thanks for coming guys, Join
