- 0:25Speaker 1: no fourth, it's the movie in Hallmarks Fall Harvest lineup.
- 0:32Speaker 1: I got things to say about where that it was placed.

- 0:37Speaker 1: of new listeners, so welcome to the podcast. Thank you
- 0:39Speaker 1: for joining us. Thursday episodes our bonus episodes, or we

- 0:49Speaker 1: to Christmas preview episode and that is burning through the charts.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Guys.
- 0:55Speaker 1: People are into it. So we can tell that you
- 0:58Speaker 1: are just excited about Christmas as we are as I
- 1:01Speaker 1: am as well. There you go terrified about as Wendy
- 1:07Speaker 1: is hoping will be over. She needs an advent calendar
- 1:09Speaker 1: just to get through.
- 1:12Speaker 2: It's the countdown to summer for me.
- 1:14Speaker 1: That's right, it's a countdown to January first. But thank
- 1:17Speaker 1: you for joining us for this episode. We also publish

- 1:37Speaker 1: which is Long Story Shorties, or.
- 1:39Speaker 2: You can send us an email at Megan and Wendy
- 1:43Speaker 2: at gmail dot com.
- 1:45Speaker 1: I just like jumped stole your line. I'm sorry, I
- 1:48Speaker 1: just was like rolling down through it. I'm totally fine
- 1:50Speaker 1: with it. It's all good. We have a couple of
- 1:52Speaker 1: homework related emails this week, and I wanted to share
- 1:55Speaker 1: the first one, which is feedback specifically related to Taking
- 1:59Speaker 1: the Rains last week Hallmark movie. And it's from Heidi
- 2:03Speaker 1: who says, my daughter does horseback writing and at both
- 2:05Speaker 1: places that we have been writing. I stumbled over that sentence.
- 2:10Speaker 1: They have their office right next to the horses. There
- 2:12Speaker 1: are a lot of polls, use a large storagesed as
- 2:14Speaker 1: their office that is right next to thoses are kept. Yes,
- 2:18Speaker 1: it seems strange, but they have a desk and supplies
- 2:20Speaker 1: for riding.
- 2:21Speaker 2: And then okay, go ahead.
- 2:23Speaker 1: And then she says I love your movie reviews. I
- 2:26Speaker 1: don't watch a lot of the movies once in a while,
- 2:28Speaker 1: but I still love to listen to them, and says
- 2:30Speaker 1: I would not be opposed to having Lifetime movie reviews. Also,
- 2:34Speaker 1: I don't watch those either, but maybe I would consider
- 2:36Speaker 1: watching one if it gets a good review. I would
- 2:39Speaker 1: like to say that so Wehndy doesn't run away screaming
- 2:42Speaker 1: mid podcast. I don't think we'll be taking on any
- 2:45Speaker 1: new networks in the year twenty twenty one. We have
- 2:48Speaker 1: our hands full of Hallmark. Would you agree with that?
- 2:50Speaker 1: I would agree yes, but there is potential to expand
- 2:54Speaker 1: perhaps in twenty twenty two. Thank you for your feedback.
- 2:58Speaker 1: We have been asking if you guys like this these
- 3:00Speaker 1: Hallmark episodes. They are very popular, just so you know,
- 3:03Speaker 1: on our end, So we're trying to decide what the
- 3:05Speaker 1: twenty twenty two Hallmark plan is.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Yeah, so if you have thoughts, email.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Us please if you want us to do.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Like more of these, we need to hear it. I
- 3:18Speaker 2: think I mean I need to hear it.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Yeah, Wendy. Wendy needs your words of affirmation.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, absolutely, Okay, back to the offices in the
- 3:28Speaker 2: stables in that movie, taking the reins, like she had
- 3:33Speaker 2: literally this like a beautiful like desk chair sitting in like.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Like her ergonomic chair is sitting on the hay in
- 3:42Speaker 1: a pile of hay, Like.
- 3:44Speaker 2: It was so ridiculous. So but I'm shocked. Maybe they
- 3:47Speaker 2: just don't have, you know, the writer in her Heidi.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Maybe like they just don't have like office space at
- 3:53Speaker 2: the stables, so they just like make do with what
- 3:55Speaker 2: they have. But Ray wants to sit in a shed
- 3:58Speaker 2: all day long.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Not I maybe horse people do.
- 4:02Speaker 2: We don't know. Wow. Crazy.
- 4:07Speaker 1: We also have some feedback from Sheila. She says two things,
- 4:10Speaker 1: and these are both in regards to last week's Countdown
- 4:13Speaker 1: to Christmas preview special, which if you haven't listened, it's
- 4:16Speaker 1: there waiting for you. Give it a listen. And I
- 4:18Speaker 1: had mentioned that Katie Sackoff is starring in a new
- 4:21Speaker 1: Hallmark movie she's going to bring a new audience, and
- 4:23Speaker 1: she said she was also in a western police show
- 4:26Speaker 1: for a while. So because I had mentioned, like she's
- 4:29Speaker 1: bringing that like that nerd demo with her Battlestar Galactica, Okay,
- 4:34Speaker 1: and then she's saying, I think the Hallmark movie she's
- 4:37Speaker 1: in was either written, producer or directed by her fiance.
- 4:40Speaker 1: And she's also in a newer Ish Netflix series Another Life.
- 4:44Speaker 1: So still never heard of this actress. I actually became
- 4:47Speaker 1: aware of Katie Sackoff via a podcast that I no
- 4:50Speaker 1: longer listened to you because the host is not great,
- 4:53Speaker 1: but the nerdist I heard her on a podcast episode
- 4:55Speaker 1: and loved her and didn't know anything about her and
- 5:00Speaker 1: loved her on that, so I'm also looking forward to that.
- 5:03Speaker 1: In other Hallmark News, also from Sheila's, she says, your
- 5:06Speaker 1: news about gac family and when calls the heart slash
- 5:10Speaker 1: when Hope calls does not really surprise me. The author
- 5:14Speaker 1: of the book series is very conservative and her books
- 5:17Speaker 1: are exceedingly popular and evangelical fundamentalist circles. So there you
- 5:24Speaker 1: have that.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Well.
- 5:27Speaker 2: I love the feedback. Thank you for the emails, ladies.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Thank you. And with that, it's time for a synopsis.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Oh right, love strikes twice. Workaholic Maggie's having marriage issues.
- 5:40Speaker 2: She wishes for a do over and awakens fifteen years
- 5:42Speaker 2: in the past. Will Maggie choose college boyfriend Rick or
- 5:45Speaker 2: will she stay with husband Josh?
- 5:48Speaker 1: And do you have some news and notes on this movie?
- 5:52Speaker 2: I have a few, not a ton, I have a
- 5:56Speaker 2: few same. The screenplay was written by C. J. Cox,
- 6:02Speaker 2: who also wrote Sweet Home Alabama featuring Reese Witherspoon.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Ah, I have thought in Alabama.
- 6:11Speaker 2: I like that movie too, but I have thoughts. Okay, okay,
- 6:14Speaker 2: I'll share in a minute. Do you have Do you
- 6:15Speaker 2: have any news and notes?
- 6:17Speaker 1: I do have news and notes. Like you said, not
- 6:19Speaker 1: a lot. We're back in Canada, guys. We loved Connecticut.
- 6:21Speaker 1: We're back in Canada, but no longer in Vancouver. We're
- 6:24Speaker 1: in Winnipeg, Manitoba. A beautiful little town. I thought where
- 6:28Speaker 1: they were coming.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Me too, Me too.
- 6:31Speaker 1: The water. Wyatt Nash, who plays Josh uh huh. He's
- 6:36Speaker 1: been in a lot of things Riverdale, Dear White People.
- 6:38Speaker 1: But he was also on Survivor.
- 6:42Speaker 2: What season. I've watched a lot of Survivor.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Oh, well, now you're asking the hard questions.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Well, you can't just like throw that tidbit out there
- 6:54Speaker 2: without some receipts. I need to know.
- 6:56Speaker 1: I believe the Survivor kickstarted his acting career. He was
- 7:01Speaker 1: on Survivor in twenty eleven.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Oh okay.
- 7:05Speaker 1: He was on Survivor Redemption Island didn win. I don't know,
- 7:10Speaker 1: oh okay. And then his first acting credits are in
- 7:16Speaker 1: twenty twelve, so you know, maybe he wasn't on Survivor
- 7:19Speaker 1: for the right reasons.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Yeah, he's like survi, are there right reasons to be
- 7:24Speaker 2: on Survivor? That's a big question.
- 7:27Speaker 1: I don't know. But in twenty thirteen on a TV
- 7:29Speaker 1: show called Mistresses, he played the hot naked.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Guy and that's his credit.
- 7:34Speaker 1: In twenty fifteen, on a TV show called Doctor Ken,
- 7:37Speaker 1: he played the hot doctor. Oh look, He's had a
- 7:42Speaker 1: number of named roles as well. But in twenty nineteen
- 7:46Speaker 1: he was in Ford Versus Ferrari and his character was
- 7:48Speaker 1: cool young buyer. So in fairness, he was on six
- 7:55Speaker 1: episodes of Glow, sixteen episodes of Dear White People, seventeen
- 7:59Speaker 1: episodes of Riverdale, so he has He has acting credits,
- 8:04Speaker 1: but I just enjoy those.
- 8:06Speaker 2: He's a working actor. I actually thought that he looked
- 8:10Speaker 2: very familiar. But and I've watched maybe like one or
- 8:14Speaker 2: two seasons of a Riverdale. I don't remember him from
- 8:16Speaker 2: that show. Maybe maybe it's that Survivor credit that's, you know,
- 8:22Speaker 2: triggering my brain, Like I knew him from somewhere, I
- 8:25Speaker 2: just couldn't place it.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Yeah, he was in later episodes of Riverdale, starting episode
- 8:29Speaker 1: fifty seven, so oh.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I only want to get that far. Yeah, it's
- 8:33Speaker 2: only the.
- 8:34Speaker 1: If you don't have fake red hair on the show,
- 8:36Speaker 1: I don't know who you are those the first seasons.
- 8:38Speaker 1: The first season is real good, but other than that,
- 8:42Speaker 1: any made it out early second season?
- 8:44Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 8:44Speaker 1: What else?
- 8:46Speaker 2: One final note this The same production of this movie
- 8:50Speaker 2: also produced a movie called One Summer, which premiered on
- 8:54Speaker 2: Hallmark Movies and Mysteries over the weekend, starring Sam Page,
- 8:59Speaker 2: who played Richard on The boll Type. And if you recall,
- 9:02Speaker 2: I sent you a text and I said, this movie's
- 9:05Speaker 2: real good and it has richer from the bull Type
- 9:06Speaker 2: and he's all scruffy and scrumptious. So I was.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Shocked because you were voluntarily watching a Hallmark movie that
- 9:17Speaker 1: was not part of our review lineup right. But now
- 9:21Speaker 1: it's all coming together for me.
- 9:24Speaker 2: I saw the commercial while watching Trice, and I was like,
- 9:30Speaker 2: that movie looks good and that guy's hot. He looks
- 9:33Speaker 2: very familiar and it couldn't place him. I had to
- 9:35Speaker 2: look him up. I'm only like halfway through, but it's
- 9:38Speaker 2: a pretty decent movie.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Well before we get to our first impression, I'm looking
- 9:42Speaker 1: at the IMDb reviews for this movie, uh huh, and
- 9:45Speaker 1: they are overwhelmingly positive for love Strikes tries twice, Love
- 9:50Speaker 1: strikes twice. The majority of them are ten out of ten,
- 9:55Speaker 1: and there's a couple nine's one six. But man, people
- 10:00Speaker 1: loved this movie. This one says, what did I just see?
- 10:03Speaker 1: It was on the Hallmark channel? But was it really
- 10:05Speaker 1: a Hallmark movie?
- 10:06Speaker 2: Ah?
- 10:06Speaker 1: I'm traveling romantic comedy. But that's all it had in
- 10:09Speaker 1: common with the usual Hallmark No pageant worth the hair,
- 10:11Speaker 1: wardrobe and makeup. Here, just great writing, attended to detail,
- 10:14Speaker 1: talented acting in fresh faces. So I would like to
- 10:19Speaker 1: jump into first impressions. Sure, what's yours? Well, you just
- 10:24Speaker 1: stole mine. My first impression was was this an actual
- 10:28Speaker 1: Hallmark movie? And my first impression is does every fall
- 10:31Speaker 1: Harvest couple have an emotional affair?
- 10:33Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 10:34Speaker 1: I mean yeah, we can get into that later, but
- 10:37Speaker 1: it's a real running theme here we've got going on.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Yeah for sure? All right, what did you like about
- 10:43Speaker 2: this movie? Well?
- 10:44Speaker 1: Can we discuss your question? Is this a Hallmark movie? Okay, Okay,
- 10:48Speaker 1: I don't think it was. So you watched the movie
- 10:51Speaker 1: before I did, and you said this is not a
- 10:53Speaker 1: Hallmark movie. It's good, And then I watched it with
- 10:58Speaker 1: my husband with that lens, but I agree that this
- 11:02Speaker 1: didn't feel like a Hallmark movie. I agree with you.
- 11:05Speaker 1: I agree with this reviewer, but I tried to find
- 11:08Speaker 1: some information like Hallmark acquired. I couldn't find anything.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Hmmm.
- 11:13Speaker 1: So the answer to that is I don't know, but
- 11:16Speaker 1: this really look if this is a Hallmark entity, you know,
- 11:23Speaker 1: produced with Hallmark people, great, keep using those people, because
- 11:27Speaker 1: there was so much great about this movie. If it wasn't,
- 11:30Speaker 1: who'd you buy it from? Right?
- 11:32Speaker 2: Well, this is what I was gonna say, because that
- 11:34Speaker 2: movie one Summer that's on Movies and Mysteries, made by
- 11:38Speaker 2: the same production company does not feel like a Hallmark
- 11:42Speaker 2: movie either. Okay, so I'm like, did they get some
- 11:45Speaker 2: kind of yeah, yeah two for here or what?
- 11:49Speaker 1: But I don't know.
- 11:50Speaker 2: I it to me did not feel like a Hallmark
- 11:53Speaker 2: movie at all at all. I agree with you.
- 11:58Speaker 1: I agree, So what did you like?
- 12:00Speaker 2: I really liked the actress who played Maggie, and her
- 12:03Speaker 2: name is Kate Katie Finland. Is that how used to whatever?
- 12:09Speaker 2: Katie Finlay? Yes, I really liked her. I didn't love
- 12:14Speaker 2: her hairstyle when she was like fifteen years younger, but
- 12:17Speaker 2: I thought she was like a really good believable actress,
- 12:20Speaker 2: and she there was like some comedic stuff and I
- 12:22Speaker 2: thought she like totally handled that really well. And this
- 12:26Speaker 2: is what makes me think white. It's also not a
- 12:29Speaker 2: Hallmark movie because like we never see her in anything.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Have we ever seen her in any other Hallmark movie? Ever?
- 12:35Speaker 1: No, we haven't. She most recently was on Zoe's Extraordinary Playlist,
- 12:39Speaker 1: and I really enjoyed her there. It's funny about her
- 12:42Speaker 1: hair because that was like their way of making her
- 12:44Speaker 1: look younger, right, like differentiating. But so I spent a
- 12:51Speaker 1: lot of time actually thinking about her hair because I
- 12:53Speaker 1: liked her earlier hairstyle more.
- 12:57Speaker 2: But this straight, cute like bob that she had, Yeah,
- 13:00Speaker 2: I was real cute.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Were they making it curly? Like what's the other option?
- 13:03Speaker 1: Like a wig? Because I don't know how else you
- 13:06Speaker 1: make her look younger other than they kind of dressed
- 13:08Speaker 1: her young when she's wearing like like a short overall situation,
- 13:13Speaker 1: like you're trying real hard to make her look yeah,
- 13:15Speaker 1: and don't. I don't think she's thirty seven either. I
- 13:18Speaker 1: don't think she's as old as she was playing. But
- 13:20Speaker 1: I don't think she's twenty two.
- 13:22Speaker 2: I think she's thirty one.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Okay, okay, So I just was thinking, like, how do
- 13:28Speaker 1: you make her look younger? And I guess the other
- 13:29Speaker 1: option is like a longer wig. No, I was glad
- 13:32Speaker 1: they used her Honestly, I was glad they used her
- 13:34Speaker 1: own hair instead of like a long wig to make
- 13:36Speaker 1: her look.
- 13:38Speaker 2: I hear you.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Yeah. So what I liked about this movie is, and
- 13:42Speaker 1: I have more thoughts on this, but I liked that
- 13:44Speaker 1: Maggie ends up with Josh in the end. As soon
- 13:46Speaker 1: as she goes, oh, interesting, that's all right, go ahead.
- 13:51Speaker 1: As soon as she goes back in time and we
- 13:53Speaker 1: start to meet Rick, I started to think, Oh, I
- 13:58Speaker 1: really hope this is like the we found our way
- 14:01Speaker 1: back to each other, not they like I made the
- 14:03Speaker 1: wrong choice movie, I said, I do have I have
- 14:07Speaker 1: some thoughts about that we can get to Well.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Rick was kind of a douchebag, a total douchebag, you know.
- 14:13Speaker 2: So I'm glad that like she could see that like
- 14:16Speaker 2: going back. But I honestly thought that she might end
- 14:22Speaker 2: up with Rick instead of Josh at the end because
- 14:25Speaker 2: she seems so unhappy or they seemed so unhappy in
- 14:29Speaker 2: their marriage at the beginning, And I thought, you know,
- 14:33Speaker 2: she's like, I need a do over. I mean, hey,
- 14:36Speaker 2: people make mistakes when they get married to the wrong people.
- 14:38Speaker 2: So I thought, well, this is going to be an
- 14:41Speaker 2: interesting twist if she does get a do over and
- 14:44Speaker 2: then picks the other guy. But you know, she ended
- 14:47Speaker 2: up back with Morinal Josh.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Well, and do you have anything else you like before
- 14:53Speaker 1: I responded.
- 14:53Speaker 2: To that accent. Two more little things.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:56Speaker 2: I really liked her parents. Yeah. I thought they were
- 15:00Speaker 2: just enjoyable.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Yea.
- 15:03Speaker 2: And I hope that like my daughter will want to, like,
- 15:08Speaker 2: I don't know, hang out or care about me.
- 15:11Speaker 1: I stole you from injuring your back.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, exactly. And I also really really liked the
- 15:20Speaker 2: relationship between Maggie and her brother Ash.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Yes, he's a brand new baby actor. Oh is he
- 15:27Speaker 1: started acting like a year ago. I had very few credits.
- 15:31Speaker 1: I really liked him.
- 15:32Speaker 2: I liked him too, but it was all messy, like
- 15:36Speaker 2: he looked the same in the time changed frame, like
- 15:40Speaker 2: you know whatever. But he's like.
- 15:43Speaker 1: A Brendan Fraser's baby brother to me, why he he
- 15:48Speaker 1: looked like Brendan Fraser has that like Encino man feels
- 15:51Speaker 1: to me.
- 15:52Speaker 2: In se no man, oh wow, wow w throw it back. Yea, Yeah,
- 15:57Speaker 2: I liked him though as an actor, I thought he
- 15:59Speaker 2: was kind of funny.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Yeah. I liked their relationship, and I liked that her
- 16:06Speaker 1: going back in time and her do over wasn't just
- 16:08Speaker 1: about her romantic relationship, that she kind of has an
- 16:12Speaker 1: opportunity to repair all of these other wrongs, and she
- 16:15Speaker 1: protects her brother from this heartbreak, and she kind of
- 16:20Speaker 1: starts to build up their relationships with their relationship in
- 16:23Speaker 1: the future is on better footing. I liked. I liked
- 16:26Speaker 1: all of that because I think a lot of us
- 16:28Speaker 1: have those same regrets. Agreed, But like, oh, I wish
- 16:32Speaker 1: I could have had a better relationship with this person
- 16:34Speaker 1: for sure. I also though, am from the school of
- 16:38Speaker 1: back to the future, and do you really want to
- 16:41Speaker 1: mess with the past, because then that's going to affect
- 16:43Speaker 1: the future, you know what I mean?
- 16:45Speaker 2: Right?
- 16:45Speaker 1: What were these effects?
- 16:46Speaker 2: Yeah, so it made me a little bit worried as well.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Yeah, Okay, your dad doesn't hurt himself, but now what's
- 16:53Speaker 1: E thinking it's something worse gonna happen or right?
- 16:56Speaker 2: Final destination is still coming for you, right, Okay, talk
- 17:02Speaker 2: to me about the Rick Josh all that stuff.
- 17:05Speaker 1: So that falls into the what I wished for, and
- 17:08Speaker 1: I wish I wished I had a better understanding of
- 17:11Speaker 1: how Maggie and Josh's relationship was repaired, because this movie,
- 17:17Speaker 1: the resolution is about ninety seconds long, and we get
- 17:21Speaker 1: to the end and we know that she's happier, she's
- 17:24Speaker 1: in a better job, she and Josh are happy. Right,
- 17:28Speaker 1: She's not living this fast paced life. But I thought, well,
- 17:31Speaker 1: maybe maybe that's what she wanted. Maybe she really wanted
- 17:34Speaker 1: to be partner in a big law of right. You know,
- 17:37Speaker 1: he was clearly bothered by her ambition and the ways
- 17:40Speaker 1: in which it negatively blew back on him, And there
- 17:44Speaker 1: was that moment She's like, I gotta make a work
- 17:46Speaker 1: phone call, and every single time he was so annoyed
- 17:49Speaker 1: by her work. And people don't change who they are.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Certainly circumstances can change. But I really wanted more of
- 17:56Speaker 1: an explanation of Okay, great, they live in a different
- 18:00Speaker 1: place and they are happy, but why what changed? Because,
- 18:05Speaker 1: like you said, they were clearly unhappy with each other,
- 18:07Speaker 1: and for me, it didn't feel circumstantial. These felt like
- 18:12Speaker 1: two people, especially Josh, who just were not on the
- 18:15Speaker 1: same page and were not really big fans of each
- 18:19Speaker 1: other and really couldn't feel figure out how to connect
- 18:23Speaker 1: with each other. Right, So what changed? Well, this is
- 18:28Speaker 1: my problem with it. He seems totally resentful of her
- 18:32Speaker 1: and her like ambition and her job and whatever. And
- 18:34Speaker 1: he's in a city he doesn't want to Well, maybe
- 18:37Speaker 1: he's in a city he doesn't want to be in,
- 18:39Speaker 1: or he's unhappy with like what he's doing with his life.
- 18:43Speaker 1: And then they're at the end they seem happier together
- 18:48Speaker 1: because now they're you know, in the town where they
- 18:52Speaker 1: were raised or whatever. But are they happier because now
- 18:54Speaker 1: he has.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Gotten his way?
- 18:58Speaker 1: You know?
- 18:59Speaker 2: Like that? I don't like that?
- 19:02Speaker 1: Yeah? Is she genuinely happier because she has her own
- 19:04Speaker 1: practice at the end? Is that? Am I remembering that correctly?
- 19:07Speaker 2: Yeah? That's right.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Yeah? Is she genuinely happier? Is that she wanted like
- 19:11Speaker 1: this smaller private practice or did she want to be
- 19:14Speaker 1: like the big shot shark lawyer who had to work
- 19:16Speaker 1: eighty hours a week in order to make partner at
- 19:18Speaker 1: this big farm. I mean, there's nothing wrong with wanting that, right,
- 19:21Speaker 1: So I wanted, like you said, is this just the
- 19:25Speaker 1: hallmark wrap up? Oh? We're all going to be happy
- 19:28Speaker 1: if we go back to where our home was, where
- 19:30Speaker 1: our family is.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Yeah, they needed a little more backstory on their relationship
- 19:36Speaker 2: and how they got there and what they were because
- 19:39Speaker 2: the whole movie was really about saving the library. It
- 19:42Speaker 2: wasn't like about their relationship, right per se. So you know,
- 19:46Speaker 2: we got the backstory on the library and all that nonsense,
- 19:49Speaker 2: not their relationship. So here's something I wish for. Yeah,
- 19:53Speaker 2: why is this movie at a fall harvest lineup?
- 19:56Speaker 1: Hello, it's literally a summer movie. They use the word
- 19:59Speaker 1: summer home for this summer. They hop into watermelon shaped
- 20:03Speaker 1: floats at the lake. What is happening? The only thing
- 20:07Speaker 1: fall about this movie was the fall Harvest logo on
- 20:10Speaker 1: the screen as it was playing.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Right right totally, I was like, there was not one
- 20:15Speaker 2: full element in this movie, Like I don't I don't understand.
- 20:18Speaker 2: I don't understand.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Other ones are like just to put some horses in
- 20:21Speaker 1: there and people think it's fall, like we're we're jacket
- 20:24Speaker 1: it's fall. At least those movies weren't blatantly summer movies.
- 20:29Speaker 2: I'm convinced they had enough money or people available, people
- 20:36Speaker 2: or whatever to make one movie for Fall, which was
- 20:39Speaker 2: Roadhouse Romance and then everything else to everybody was busy
- 20:43Speaker 2: making Christmas movies for their forty one movie lineup, and
- 20:47Speaker 2: then they just like slotted these guys in the Fall
- 20:50Speaker 2: in the Fall. Because I never watched a Fall Harvest
- 20:52Speaker 2: lineup never ever, So you need to tell me did
- 20:55Speaker 2: last year? Was it fall related movies?
- 20:58Speaker 1: I have never watched all six, right, I've never or
- 21:01Speaker 1: however many I've never watched the full lineup. The only
- 21:04Speaker 1: time I'm a devoted prior to this year Hallmark fan
- 21:07Speaker 1: is Christmas season. The rest of the year, every once
- 21:09Speaker 1: in a while, I'll watch a couple. But so I
- 21:13Speaker 1: can't answer that, but it does feel really strongly not Fall.
- 21:18Speaker 1: And like we said, they have their biggest Christmas lineup ever,
- 21:22Speaker 1: and so perhaps they were just too busy or the
- 21:26Speaker 1: other side of that is part of me is overthinking it.
- 21:30Speaker 1: I'm like, how it's a little insulting to the intelligence
- 21:34Speaker 1: of the Hallmark movie watcher to say, like, just put
- 21:37Speaker 1: them in a Fall Harve, call it Fall Harvest. Nobody's
- 21:40Speaker 1: gonna say anything, because I think Hallmark knows who they are.
- 21:45Speaker 1: I think they know they're not the appointment television watch
- 21:51Speaker 1: where you put your screens away. I think they know
- 21:53Speaker 1: their throw on TV for a lot of people, right,
- 21:57Speaker 1: So I wonder if they're like, hey, we're going to
- 21:59Speaker 1: lean into that. We're gonna be movies. We're gonna call
- 22:00Speaker 1: them Fall, Harvest. Nobody's gonna say anything, and if they do,
- 22:03Speaker 1: who cares? Just throw them in there. Well I can
- 22:05Speaker 1: and market them all together, and they can make it
- 22:09Speaker 1: seem like with their Palmark Checklist app. If you open
- 22:12Speaker 1: up the app, it's gonna ask you, let's create a
- 22:14Speaker 1: checklist for you, and I'm going to send you reminders
- 22:16Speaker 1: and pop them into your calendar for you to watch
- 22:18Speaker 1: these movies.
- 22:20Speaker 2: I'm disappointed in Hallmark.
- 22:22Speaker 1: I think it's Yeah, I wanted some like Fall.
- 22:26Speaker 2: I really wanted some like Halloween style festivals, Fall, pumpkin carving,
- 22:34Speaker 2: apple bobbing, whatever. That's what I wanted, and I feel
- 22:39Speaker 2: let down.
- 22:40Speaker 1: I do not feel confident that we're gonna get any
- 22:43Speaker 1: of that.
- 22:43Speaker 2: In South Beach Love, Oh, oh my gosh, this is
- 22:46Speaker 2: like one I definitely want to skip, but I'll watch
- 22:50Speaker 2: it South Beach Love, My goodness. Okay, anything else you
- 22:55Speaker 2: wished for?
- 22:55Speaker 1: Did we have any information about how Maggie or why
- 22:58Speaker 1: Maggie and Rick's the first time. Did I miss it?
- 23:02Speaker 2: I don't think so. I'm trying to remember. They run
- 23:06Speaker 2: into each other in the office of the building and
- 23:08Speaker 2: they're kind of like where and they just say like
- 23:12Speaker 2: it was her like college boyfriend or something. I don't
- 23:14Speaker 2: know if they ever did get into specifics of why
- 23:17Speaker 2: they broke up.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Yeah, did he proposed? Did you know what? I don't know.
- 23:24Speaker 1: I'm curious how that timeline was different from the original timeline.
- 23:32Speaker 1: That's all.
- 23:33Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know. They don't want you
- 23:35Speaker 2: to know these answers.
- 23:36Speaker 1: No, they don't know.
- 23:37Speaker 2: They don't That's all right, let's get into did you
- 23:40Speaker 2: just see that? I have a few Okay, First of all,
- 23:45Speaker 2: when Josh and Maggie go back to their hometown or whatever,
- 23:49Speaker 2: and they're like driving through like the town square and
- 23:53Speaker 2: what was once the library is now like it was like, yeah,
- 23:57Speaker 2: I'm like, what the hell it looked like they returned
- 24:02Speaker 2: to like city that I don't I don't know, I can't,
- 24:07Speaker 2: I don't know where the right words, but like, you know,
- 24:09Speaker 2: just went and broke Basically, it's like a one library
- 24:15Speaker 2: is not going to like make a city turn bad.
- 24:21Speaker 1: The library storyline was so odd to me because they
- 24:25Speaker 1: made it clear that they had already rebuilt another library,
- 24:28Speaker 1: and so it wasn't that there wasn't the library. They
- 24:30Speaker 1: were just really dedicated to this piece of land, not
- 24:32Speaker 1: going to the developer. And look, I would not really
- 24:35Speaker 1: want like my beautiful library turning into a dollar store either,
- 24:39Speaker 1: not that I'm not a fan of the dollar store,
- 24:41Speaker 1: but you know, I like to preserve a little history.
- 24:43Speaker 1: But I didn't really understand. Okay, once they've won this
- 24:49Speaker 1: injunction against this shady developer, what are they then going
- 24:53Speaker 1: to do with this space, because who owns it? And
- 24:57Speaker 1: where are they going to get the money to develop
- 24:59Speaker 1: into something they would like to keep?
- 25:01Speaker 2: Yeah exactly.
- 25:02Speaker 1: I mean we find out later what they do with it,
- 25:04Speaker 1: but I don't even remember. It was so anti climactic.
- 25:07Speaker 1: But anyway, yes, okay.
- 25:09Speaker 2: It was just weird whatever. I mean, Like, there's some
- 25:12Speaker 2: cities that don't have a library, but they already established
- 25:16Speaker 2: that there was a library, So it's like they were
- 25:18Speaker 2: more concerned about the historic building, right, which I kind
- 25:23Speaker 2: of understand a little bit because we live in near
- 25:27Speaker 2: like the Orange Circle, right, there's a lot of historic
- 25:30Speaker 2: buildings down there, and yes, I think I would be
- 25:32Speaker 2: kind of bummit if they like tore those down for
- 25:35Speaker 2: like high rise living or something like that, but not
- 25:38Speaker 2: enough till I don't know. Maybe it's because I just
- 25:42Speaker 2: don't care about things, but I don't know. It just
- 25:45Speaker 2: was a lot of the story. I agree.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Anyway, did you hear the Brian Adams?
- 25:51Speaker 2: Was it everything I do?
- 25:53Speaker 1: I was like, oh, look at that real music, but
- 25:55Speaker 1: not by the actual artist. But we rarely get it
- 25:57Speaker 1: by the actual artist, if Bobo Brian Adams.
- 26:00Speaker 2: But but we did get real music. I honestly didn't
- 26:04Speaker 2: notice and music. I usually noticed the music in movies.
- 26:09Speaker 2: I did not notice in this one. But it was
- 26:11Speaker 2: during their like the.
- 26:15Speaker 1: It was midway through the movie, but maybe it was
- 26:18Speaker 1: at the original like the twenty fifth anniversary part.
- 26:20Speaker 2: At the party. Yeah, that's what I was trying to remember,
- 26:23Speaker 2: Like it was at the party. Did you notice that
- 26:25Speaker 2: Maggie wore the same exact necklace in every scene? It
- 26:29Speaker 2: did not notice that it was an and it only
- 26:32Speaker 2: is a necklace that reminds me that you have. It's
- 26:34Speaker 2: kind of like one of those like interlock chain necklaces
- 26:37Speaker 2: that are kind of fouler right now.
- 26:39Speaker 1: It's so funny. I did notice that, and I was like,
- 26:42Speaker 1: that wasn't popular fifteen years ago, right, those are very
- 26:45Speaker 1: of the moment. You can get them at target.
- 26:47Speaker 2: Uh huh. It was in every scene. I was like,
- 26:51Speaker 2: it wasn't in like the future or it wasn't in
- 26:53Speaker 2: the current day scenes. They were in the past scenes.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, yeah, because at the party scene in the
- 26:59Speaker 1: current day, she was wearing like a fancy or a necklace, right,
- 27:03Speaker 1: and then when she goes from like hitting her head
- 27:05Speaker 1: in the past to waking up in the future, she's
- 27:07Speaker 1: wearing like an updated version of the same dress.
- 27:10Speaker 2: Oh I didn't notice that.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Yeah, Like it's the same style, same like roughly the
- 27:15Speaker 1: same cut, it's the same color, but it's just Yeah,
- 27:19Speaker 1: the twenty twenty one version interesting.
- 27:22Speaker 2: Interesting. Did you notice how like cheap the lockers were
- 27:26Speaker 2: in their fancy golf club when they were trying to
- 27:28Speaker 2: like still that briefcase, Like if you if this was
- 27:32Speaker 2: going to be like a nice golf club that I
- 27:35Speaker 2: would assume that these people would belong to. There's no
- 27:39Speaker 2: way they're like these like high school lockers or whatever.
- 27:42Speaker 1: They're that close together. You're not butt to butt with
- 27:44Speaker 1: the person changing behind.
- 27:46Speaker 2: But oh not God. But I actually did really like
- 27:50Speaker 2: that scene because it made me nervous watching it. I
- 27:52Speaker 2: was like, they're gonna get caught, They're gonna get caught,
- 27:54Speaker 2: you know.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Yeah, they did a good job. I thought it was
- 27:56Speaker 1: a little too long, but agree, agree, agree, agree, But
- 28:00Speaker 1: they did a good job building suspense in that scene.
- 28:03Speaker 2: Uh huh.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Although the fact that Rick had no idea was Maggie
- 28:06Speaker 1: I did not believe.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Yeah, gave me a break.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Still has her short hair.
- 28:09Speaker 2: I mean like she looks exactly the same from she's
- 28:12Speaker 2: wearing that big old diamond ring he gave her.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Maybe that just speaks to like, oh, we don't even
- 28:19Speaker 1: like notice the help, right, Like we're.
- 28:21Speaker 2: Just oh yeah, true, true, true, true true.
- 28:25Speaker 1: By the way, I don't use the word the help.
- 28:26Speaker 1: I'm just suggesting that that's how these people would refer to.
- 28:29Speaker 2: Them, right, I understand.
- 28:33Speaker 1: So at one point, when they're like doing their like
- 28:37Speaker 1: they got their like war room, doing research on this developer, Yeah,
- 28:41Speaker 1: she sends the girl who will be her brother's future wife.
- 28:45Speaker 1: She's like, oh, go downstairs, Ash has great WiFi.
- 28:49Speaker 2: Yeah, And I was like, wait.
- 28:50Speaker 1: A minute, it's twenty let's say, it's twenty twenty one,
- 28:54Speaker 1: so this is two thousand and six. That's like, so
- 28:57Speaker 1: I looked it up. Wi Fi enabled devices came out
- 29:00Speaker 1: in two thousand and four, which to me, I was like,
- 29:03Speaker 1: really it was that long ago, like we've had but
- 29:05Speaker 1: I think it wasn't necessarily like everybody had Wi Fi
- 29:10Speaker 1: every I don't know, so they would have had Wi
- 29:13Speaker 1: Fi in their home. But then she was like, just
- 29:15Speaker 1: wait and see what it's like in the future. There's
- 29:18Speaker 1: no way it was actually any good at that point.
- 29:22Speaker 2: Yeah, they were trying to do a lot of that, like, oh, apps,
- 29:26Speaker 2: apps are going to be big in the.
- 29:28Speaker 1: Future of those dumb games.
- 29:30Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, exactly, I hear you. There was one scene
- 29:36Speaker 2: when Maggie's dad was texting. You know, of course you're
- 29:39Speaker 2: on texting on like a flip flow where you had
- 29:41Speaker 2: to like press press, press, press, you know whatever. But
- 29:43Speaker 2: anyway she tells them like, text with your thumbs, it's easier.
- 29:46Speaker 2: I thought that was really funny.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Your thumb dad. Yeah, I liked that.
- 29:51Speaker 2: Yeah, so there were for me, there were like a
- 29:53Speaker 2: lot of like little funny lines in this.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Yeah. I thought it was funny and I thought it
- 29:58Speaker 1: was relatively fast paced. What going on? I could have
- 30:01Speaker 1: used like less library and more anything else.
- 30:05Speaker 2: Well, did you like the the like courtroom scenes or no?
- 30:09Speaker 1: Not really?
- 30:10Speaker 2: I thought there were too many of those. Also, yeah,
- 30:12Speaker 2: there was one too many of those. And something about
- 30:15Speaker 2: like the way that she would like lay her hands
- 30:18Speaker 2: on the desk while she was like talking to the judge.
- 30:21Speaker 2: I don't know if you noticed it, but it was
- 30:23Speaker 2: like she was like barely reaching the table, but like
- 30:27Speaker 2: it was like this you know, power pose that a
- 30:30Speaker 2: lawyer would have. It just was kind of funny.
- 30:33Speaker 1: I feel like they were going a long way to
- 30:36Speaker 1: proving like Maggie knows what she's doing. She is a
- 30:39Speaker 1: real lawyer, right right exactly. I mean I didn't need
- 30:44Speaker 1: to be sold. We already know she's on the partner track,
- 30:48Speaker 1: so yeah, I wouldn't do it, all right, Are you
- 30:53Speaker 1: ready to rate this movie?
- 30:54Speaker 2: I am. I gave it a three stars, So did
- 30:58Speaker 2: I WHOA, Well, that's I.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Think our first. The same for Fall Harvest.
- 31:04Speaker 2: I think so because there was another movie that I
- 31:06Speaker 2: rated three stars. I was higher than yours. But yeah,
- 31:09Speaker 2: you know, I want to take away half a star
- 31:11Speaker 2: because it was not a Fall movie.
- 31:13Speaker 1: But I thought I was good though, Yeah, do I
- 31:17Speaker 1: care more that it's not a Fall movie or do
- 31:19Speaker 1: I care that it was enjoyable to watch? Right? And
- 31:23Speaker 1: what's interesting is my husband he was like, oh, it
- 31:25Speaker 1: was okay, like he thought it was cute. He will
- 31:26Speaker 1: rarely say a bad thing about a Hallmark movie, because
- 31:29Speaker 1: he was like, how dare you be smarted? The good
- 31:31Speaker 1: name of Hallmark? But yeah, I think he watches the
- 31:34Speaker 1: Fall movies for Fall. He wants to feel like, oh,
- 31:37Speaker 1: let's move there, and obviously we didn't really get any
- 31:39Speaker 1: of that in this movie.
- 31:41Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't think you're going to be moving to
- 31:42Speaker 2: South Beach next week.
- 31:43Speaker 1: Definitely not. So that's a safe watch. I get so
- 31:47Speaker 1: nervous watching these Christmas with them because they're all like
- 31:49Speaker 1: small town and then they all are like rediscovering how
- 31:53Speaker 1: great it is to get away from life in the
- 31:54Speaker 1: big city and slow down, and the whole time he's like, see, see,
- 32:00Speaker 1: so I need a lot more city set movies this.
- 32:04Speaker 2: Year, Hallmarks. Right, you need something set in southern California, Right,
- 32:09Speaker 2: Santa Steakout, that's great, Like, no part of that is
- 32:11Speaker 2: going to scream like small town, you know. Yeah, let's
- 32:16Speaker 2: hope not Yeah, the Nine Lives of Christmas. Oh my god, Chris,
- 32:23Speaker 2: I don't know if you can't do it anyway?
- 32:26Speaker 1: All right, guys. Next week we will be back with
- 32:29Speaker 1: South Beach Love, the fifth out of six movies in
- 32:33Speaker 1: Hallmarks Fall Harvest but not really series. We are counting
- 32:37Speaker 1: down to the Countdown to Christmas, which starts on October
- 32:40Speaker 1: twenty second. Have you seen the cute Hallmark commercial that
- 32:43Speaker 1: has like kids trick or treating and then people opening
- 32:46Speaker 1: the door to a Christmas party in the back?
- 32:47Speaker 2: I have very funny.
- 32:49Speaker 1: I loved it. I was like, it's good to know
- 32:51Speaker 1: who you are, make fun of yourself a little bit.
- 32:53Speaker 1: This is I think so too.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Yeah, so I love it too.
- 32:56Speaker 1: We'll be back next week with that. As always, you
- 32:58Speaker 1: can email us your thoughts on these movies at Megan
- 33:01Speaker 1: and Wendy at gmail dot com. If you know if
- 33:04Speaker 1: Hallmark bought this movie from someone, let us know and
- 33:07Speaker 1: we'll see you next week. Have a great week, everybody.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Goodbye bye,
