Latest / Cardinal Territory: A St. Louis Cardinals Podcast / Interview: Andre Pallante and Matthew Liberatore
Transcript
- 0:05Speaker 1: Welcome back to Cardinal Territory. The Cardinals dropped a heartbreaker
- 0:09Speaker 1: in ten innings to the Toronto Blue Jays last night.
- 0:11Speaker 2: But hey, guess what, it's a.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Brand new day and we have two super fun guests
- 0:15Speaker 1: on the show today. So excited to have Cardinals starting
- 0:18Speaker 1: pitchers Andre Polante and Matthew Libertore as our guest this week.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Guys, thank you for doing this.
- 0:22Speaker 3: How are you doing well? How are you? Yeah? Pretty good?
- 0:26Speaker 3: Excited to be here.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I know. I'm really happy you guys could do this.
- 0:29Speaker 1: I always think it's great to get any I'll take,
- 0:31Speaker 1: you know, any kind of interview, but to get two
- 0:34Speaker 1: players at once, I feel like it's just kind of fun.
- 0:36Speaker 1: We can switch it up a little bit. So yeah,
- 0:38Speaker 1: super thankful for you guys doing this. We'll start with
- 0:41Speaker 1: just a couple of baseball questions, because that's.
- 0:44Speaker 2: What we're here for. We'll start, you know, really, I
- 0:48Speaker 2: guess we can start at the top, right.
- 0:50Speaker 1: A lot was made of this rotation coming into the
- 0:52Speaker 1: season and how it had so much to prove, not
- 0:54Speaker 1: a lot of overpowering velocity or swing and miss, and
- 0:57Speaker 1: you guys as a unit have basically said, doesn't matter
- 1:00Speaker 1: don't care, still going to get it done, and you
- 1:03Speaker 1: have I think coming into play today, the rotation has
- 1:05Speaker 1: a collective era of three eight four and you guys
- 1:08Speaker 1: have recorded the most ground ball ground ball outs in all.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Of baseball at three hundred and eighty nine.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Audre will start with you, how are you finding ways
- 1:19Speaker 1: to modernize your game and evolve and get success but
- 1:21Speaker 1: still relying on the things that got you here and
- 1:23Speaker 1: have made you the picture that you are.
- 1:26Speaker 4: Yeah, I think part of it is just kind of like, uh,
- 1:29Speaker 4: I mean, if you I don't know how far back
- 1:30Speaker 4: you want me to go, but really like understanding that
- 1:33Speaker 4: I'm a ground ball picture. It didn't really happen until
- 1:35Speaker 4: I got to the big leagues. I didn't even know
- 1:37Speaker 4: that I got an obsertain amount of ground balls until
- 1:39Speaker 4: I got here, and then like they're like, hey, you're
- 1:41Speaker 4: kind of laying a league in it. And so I
- 1:44Speaker 4: always thought I was just, you know, like everyone else
- 1:46Speaker 4: just got, you know, whatever, the normal amount of outs.
- 1:48Speaker 4: But I've learned that that's part of my game, and
- 1:50Speaker 4: that's part of the reason why I don't strike a
- 1:52Speaker 4: ton of guys out. You know, it's hard to get
- 1:53Speaker 4: the hard to strike a guy out. If you get
- 1:55Speaker 4: people out before you know, you get three two counts,
- 1:58Speaker 4: one two counts, you know. So really just learning how
- 2:01Speaker 4: to limit damage and trying to keep the ball in
- 2:04Speaker 4: play and just say on the aggressive and keep it down.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Let me kind of the same question though obviously you're
- 2:12Speaker 1: a little different prototype than Andre. But we've talked a
- 2:15Speaker 1: lot about the process and your journey to get to
- 2:18Speaker 1: where you are right now. But what do you think
- 2:19Speaker 1: has really clicked for you this year in terms of
- 2:21Speaker 1: the execution?
- 2:23Speaker 5: I think just the trust in my process. I felt
- 2:27Speaker 5: like I always had a good idea of who I
- 2:29Speaker 5: was and what I wanted to do, and I also
- 2:31Speaker 5: felt like I had a good good amount of knowledge
- 2:33Speaker 5: and tools and resources at my disposal, and I think
- 2:37Speaker 5: over the last two years, really just figuring out how
- 2:40Speaker 5: to organize those into a consistent daily plan has really
- 2:45Speaker 5: helped me. And then just being able to carry that
- 2:47Speaker 5: out onto the mound and the presence and the calmness
- 2:51Speaker 5: and confidence that that gives me when I'm out there.
- 2:53Speaker 5: I think it allows me to be more present in
- 2:56Speaker 5: those at bads and be able to read swings and
- 2:58Speaker 5: read the game and notice what going on in front
- 3:00Speaker 5: of me instead of trying to fight myself on the mound.
- 3:04Speaker 2: The team has made a lot.
- 3:06Speaker 1: I mean, we've heard these words all season long, like runway, opportunity.
- 3:09Speaker 2: I'm personally okay if we never hear the word runway again.
- 3:11Speaker 3: But it's fine.
- 3:13Speaker 1: But both of you have similar tracks where you were
- 3:15Speaker 1: kind of bouncing up between Majors, minors, rotation, bullpen over
- 3:19Speaker 1: the first few years of your career, and while it
- 3:20Speaker 1: wasn't totally similar, there are some overlying similarities there. But
- 3:25Speaker 1: this team has committed to doing to you, and I
- 3:27Speaker 1: think most importantly has made good on It's given you
- 3:31Speaker 1: the opportunity to work through your struggles at the major
- 3:33Speaker 1: league level instead of just either you know, optioning you
- 3:36Speaker 1: or diminishing your role that they would have been years
- 3:38Speaker 1: prior the fact that the organization came out and said, hey,
- 3:41Speaker 1: we're going to give both of you a steady opportunity
- 3:45Speaker 1: in the rotation. Regardless of results, You're going to have
- 3:48Speaker 1: chances to figure this out and perform.
- 3:50Speaker 2: What has that done for you, Andre, We'll start with you.
- 3:53Speaker 4: I mean, I think the most important thing is it
- 3:54Speaker 4: makes it a little bit less stressful, you know, like
- 3:57Speaker 4: I don't know I'm sure you know a lot of
- 3:59Speaker 4: people understand or luck of people have been in the
- 4:01Speaker 4: same lot of work where it's like, you know, hey,
- 4:03Speaker 4: if you don't perform in the first every outing, it
- 4:06Speaker 4: doesn't feel it doesn't feel like every outing you're fighting
- 4:08Speaker 4: for your job in a way, and you're able to
- 4:10Speaker 4: be like, hey, you know, I can trust my process,
- 4:12Speaker 4: I and trust the fact that you know, for me,
- 4:13Speaker 4: it's like throwing my fastball down on the glove side,
- 4:16Speaker 4: and like, you know, if I have a bad if
- 4:18Speaker 4: I do a good job of that and results don't
- 4:20Speaker 4: go on my way, I don't have to think about,
- 4:21Speaker 4: holy crap, am I going to get optioned the next day?
- 4:23Speaker 4: You know, And that's that's never the spot you want
- 4:25Speaker 4: to be in, especially because that takes you out of
- 4:27Speaker 4: the moment and takes you out of being on the
- 4:28Speaker 4: mountain focusing on executing your pitch, and it gives you
- 4:32Speaker 4: that time to be like, hey, I'm struggling with this.
- 4:35Speaker 4: What am I going to change to like see those results?
- 4:38Speaker 4: Because you know the game and trip play is not
- 4:40Speaker 4: the same, you know, it's the hitters aren't as good,
- 4:42Speaker 4: and you know you got the abs down there, you
- 4:45Speaker 4: got hitters that are more passive and all that, all
- 4:48Speaker 4: that sorde of things. So like being able to work
- 4:50Speaker 4: through that up here with the best coaching that you
- 4:52Speaker 4: get available to you and against the best hittors just
- 4:55Speaker 4: helps you become the best vision yourself.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Libby.
- 4:58Speaker 1: We talked about this as well, just in years prior
- 5:01Speaker 1: where you felt like you were out there pitching to
- 5:03Speaker 1: stay alive and you weren't necessarily reading the execution or
- 5:06Speaker 1: reading the swings or throwing the pitches that you felt comfortable.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Then you were just trying to execute to make sure
- 5:11Speaker 1: that you've stayed up, and that can be kind of
- 5:14Speaker 1: a detrimental thing in the long term scope of how
- 5:17Speaker 1: you perform as a pitcher. Clearly are not doing that
- 5:20Speaker 1: anymore because the Cardinals have committed to you and have
- 5:22Speaker 1: committed to Andre. What kind of difference has that made
- 5:24Speaker 1: for you?
- 5:25Speaker 5: Yeah, I think kind of to quote Andre sad like,
- 5:27Speaker 5: we have a lot more resources at the big league
- 5:30Speaker 5: level than you do in Triple A or any other
- 5:32Speaker 5: minor league affiliate, and the ability to like come out
- 5:36Speaker 5: of a start that maybe didn't go as well as
- 5:38Speaker 5: you would have hoped and sit down with the pitching
- 5:41Speaker 5: coach and the strength stuff and the training room staff
- 5:44Speaker 5: and put together a five day plan to get you
- 5:46Speaker 5: into a better spot for the next time around. Is
- 5:49Speaker 5: different than you pitch, you wake up the next morning,
- 5:52Speaker 5: you get sent down, You got to catch a flight,
- 5:54Speaker 5: you meet the team on the road or maybe back
- 5:56Speaker 5: in Memphis, try to move into an apartment or a hotel.
- 5:59Speaker 5: Like a lot of factors that have nothing to do
- 6:01Speaker 5: with baseball that take away from your ability to work
- 6:04Speaker 5: on the things that need to be worked on. And
- 6:07Speaker 5: so knowing that like every five days, I'm going to
- 6:09Speaker 5: get another opportunity to take the ball and execute on
- 6:13Speaker 5: the things that I needed to work on. Yeah, it's
- 6:17Speaker 5: definitely a stress reliever and it takes some of that
- 6:19Speaker 5: pressure off of you. But I think it really gives
- 6:21Speaker 5: you the best opportunity to grow from those things that
- 6:24Speaker 5: need to be learned from. And I think that's that's
- 6:27Speaker 5: an invaluable opportunity.
- 6:30Speaker 1: And look, no starting pitcher is going to go thirty
- 6:31Speaker 1: two and zher with a zero era. There are going
- 6:34Speaker 1: to be ups and downs no matter who you are,
- 6:36Speaker 1: no matter if you're an ACE, if you're a rookiees
- 6:38Speaker 1: you're coming up. And I think over the last two
- 6:40Speaker 1: weeks or so, both of you have kind of the like, Okay.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Let's figure out what's next.
- 6:44Speaker 1: We need to adjust because opposing hitters have adjusted to
- 6:47Speaker 1: you in years prior.
- 6:49Speaker 2: It felt like, you.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Know, for both of you in different ways, if there
- 6:54Speaker 1: was a rough outing or if there was a couple
- 6:56Speaker 1: of outings where things didn't go exactly the way you
- 6:58Speaker 1: wanted to, it was like, all right, get them out.
- 7:01Speaker 2: They're going to Memphis. They're going to go figure things out.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Well, obviously neither of you have anything to figure out
- 7:05Speaker 1: in Memphis anymore. It's about can you adjust to the
- 7:07Speaker 1: major leagues knowing that you're going to be here and
- 7:09Speaker 1: they're going to give you that chance to do so?
- 7:12Speaker 1: How does that change your mindset on how you attack
- 7:14Speaker 1: hitters and make those adjustments in real time?
- 7:15Speaker 2: Let me go first.
- 7:18Speaker 5: I mean, I think you kind of hit the nail
- 7:19Speaker 5: on the head, like gone down to Memphis, maybe like
- 7:22Speaker 5: two or three of those guys are going to be
- 7:25Speaker 5: here every day, guys in the big league lineup, and
- 7:28Speaker 5: to make a start that doesn't go your way and
- 7:30Speaker 5: get sent down and go to Memphis. Even if you
- 7:32Speaker 5: do the things that you think you need to work on,
- 7:34Speaker 5: and you execute on those things better, you still have
- 7:37Speaker 5: a little bit of doubt or maybe not full confidence
- 7:40Speaker 5: in the ability to make that play at the big
- 7:43Speaker 5: league level because of the fact that not every guy
- 7:46Speaker 5: facing triple A is going to be in every day
- 7:47Speaker 5: big leaguer. So to be able to go out after
- 7:50Speaker 5: rough outing and work on the things that you need
- 7:53Speaker 5: to work on at the big league level, like that
- 7:55Speaker 5: is the truest test of if those things are going
- 7:58Speaker 5: to play or not. Being able to make that start
- 8:01Speaker 5: every five days and make those adjustments can really give
- 8:05Speaker 5: you some confidence knowing that the things that you worked
- 8:08Speaker 5: on leading up to that start are the things that
- 8:11Speaker 5: are going to play for you long term.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Andrew, I mean you've had You've just posted a bounce
- 8:15Speaker 1: back outing against a very talented Toronto Blue Jays club
- 8:18Speaker 1: through a quality start.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Do you feel like you know, what can you add
- 8:21Speaker 2: to that?
- 8:22Speaker 4: Yeah? I mean, like i'd say one thing that, like
- 8:25Speaker 4: you know, I go through, especially when it comes to this,
- 8:27Speaker 4: it's like sometimes you don't know what you need to
- 8:28Speaker 4: work on it, Like that's also part of it, and
- 8:32Speaker 4: you're not going to find that out. You know in
- 8:34Speaker 4: triple A, what what's going to be the thing like
- 8:37Speaker 4: I look back at last year for me right and
- 8:39Speaker 4: I you know again struggling with right handed hitters, and
- 8:42Speaker 4: it was like, what am I going to do? How
- 8:43Speaker 4: am I going to open up like a side of
- 8:45Speaker 4: the play? How am I going to get these guys
- 8:46Speaker 4: off balance? And it was like, you know, in the bullpen,
- 8:49Speaker 4: especially like last year, like you don't have the time
- 8:52Speaker 4: to work on a pitch to like improve something like
- 8:56Speaker 4: that if there's something missing, So like, you know, part
- 9:01Speaker 4: of that process was learning what I had to work
- 9:03Speaker 4: on at the big, big leage level because in Triple
- 9:06Speaker 4: A and double I didn't have those problems of getting
- 9:09Speaker 4: right handed hitters out. That didn't I didn't expose that.
- 9:11Speaker 4: So I was in the big leagues and then I
- 9:12Speaker 4: didn't expose like how I can surpass that until I
- 9:15Speaker 4: learned that in the big leagues and then I was
- 9:17Speaker 4: optioned in a situation where I could work on that,
- 9:19Speaker 4: and then I got better and I had a bunch
- 9:21Speaker 4: of success. You know this year again, same thing. It's like,
- 9:24Speaker 4: I don't you know, if you something's not going right,
- 9:26Speaker 4: you got to figure out what that is. You got
- 9:28Speaker 4: to have some success to kind of figure out, Okay,
- 9:30Speaker 4: this is what I need to do to have continued success,
- 9:33Speaker 4: and then you go and work on it, you know,
- 9:35Speaker 4: Like I think for I now, I was talking a
- 9:37Speaker 4: little b about it after the game. It was like,
- 9:39Speaker 4: you know, I had the intention of, Okay, when am
- 9:41Speaker 4: I going to try to throw in like to be
- 9:43Speaker 4: less predictable on my game plan, and it's like, I
- 9:45Speaker 4: want to throw my curveball more. I think it's a
- 9:47Speaker 4: good pitch for me, and it's something I want to
- 9:49Speaker 4: do more of. And you know, in my past, I
- 9:52Speaker 4: never had to do it, and I kind of been
- 9:53Speaker 4: pushing it off, pushing that off, and then you know,
- 9:55Speaker 4: just kind of the point where I'm like, let's just
- 9:57Speaker 4: do it, you know, like when you have that, have
- 10:00Speaker 4: that opportunity right now, like I can go out there
- 10:01Speaker 4: and just challenge it and try and do that. And
- 10:04Speaker 4: I felt like I had some pretty good success with
- 10:06Speaker 4: that yesterday and it gives me something to build off of.
- 10:08Speaker 4: So it just helps you analyze what you know you
- 10:11Speaker 4: need to work on, and then you can actually work
- 10:13Speaker 4: on it.
- 10:14Speaker 1: I think that's so important because as fans, it makes
- 10:17Speaker 1: sense you're locked it on every pitch and you care
- 10:19Speaker 1: about the outcome of that specific day and at one
- 10:22Speaker 1: hundred and sixty two game season, there are going to
- 10:24Speaker 1: be some losses and they're going to be some bad outings.
- 10:26Speaker 2: But what is really.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Interesting about this season is that it is a transition year,
- 10:31Speaker 1: and you do have I mean, you guys have done
- 10:32Speaker 1: a great job of making it not feel like a transition. Yeer,
- 10:35Speaker 1: it's the most exciting baseball team I think we've seen since.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Twenty twenty two.
- 10:39Speaker 1: But it's a great point to say, you know, here's
- 10:41Speaker 1: what we're adjusting in real time too, because we talk
- 10:44Speaker 1: a lot about it with offensive players when young players slump, like, oh,
- 10:47Speaker 1: they're just adjusting to major league pitching. Well, major league
- 10:50Speaker 1: pitching also has to adjust to major league hitting, and
- 10:52Speaker 1: I think both of you guys have learned that and
- 10:54Speaker 1: we're seeing it in real time on how those.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Adjustments take place. And you know, both of you can
- 10:58Speaker 2: speak to the talent level Triple A and the major leagues.
- 11:01Speaker 2: It is vastly different.
- 11:04Speaker 5: Yeah, it's definitely a more consistent breed of talent at
- 11:08Speaker 5: the big league level. You know, I've always said that
- 11:10Speaker 5: I think anybody who makes it to the big leagues
- 11:12Speaker 5: for a day could stay there if they can figure
- 11:14Speaker 5: out how to have their best day consistently enough, and
- 11:18Speaker 5: so at the big league level, like, it's not that
- 11:20Speaker 5: the hitters are far and away more talented naturally than
- 11:24Speaker 5: the guys at the level below them. They've just figured
- 11:27Speaker 5: out how to pull the best out of themselves the
- 11:29Speaker 5: most consistently, which usually means missing the mistakes less and less,
- 11:34Speaker 5: and that requires us to be more perfect. And I
- 11:38Speaker 5: feel like right now this game is evolving at a
- 11:41Speaker 5: rate that it never has before, and you're seeing more
- 11:44Speaker 5: and more raw talent at the big league level, and
- 11:47Speaker 5: I think that that makes it a lot harder. And
- 11:49Speaker 5: you know, you add in the pitch clock and how
- 11:52Speaker 5: fast the game is moving, I think the the ability
- 11:57Speaker 5: to make adjustments is as hard to and as important
- 12:00Speaker 5: as it ever has been before. You really don't have
- 12:03Speaker 5: a lot of time to make adjustments in game, so
- 12:07Speaker 5: your ability to figure out what's going on and be
- 12:10Speaker 5: able to point out those things and make the adjustment
- 12:12Speaker 5: on the flyes invaluable right now. And I'd say it's
- 12:17Speaker 5: as tough as it's ever been before. But I think
- 12:19Speaker 5: that that makes it a lot more fun too, because
- 12:22Speaker 5: you really get tested in your ability to accept what's happening,
- 12:28Speaker 5: flush it and move on to the next pitch.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Good stuff, guys.
- 12:31Speaker 1: I think that's really insightful, and I think something that
- 12:34Speaker 1: the casual fan doesn't get to see on an everyday basis.
- 12:37Speaker 2: So I appreciate you taking us through that.
- 12:39Speaker 1: We're going to get to the good stuff, the stuff
- 12:40Speaker 1: that people really care about, like the relationships and the
- 12:43Speaker 1: rotation and all that good stuff. But first we'll take
- 12:46Speaker 1: a quick break and hear from our sponsor full.
- 12:50Speaker 6: If you're one of those on the go people, or
- 12:52Speaker 6: you're skipping meals but you don't want to, there's got
- 12:54Speaker 6: to be a quicker solution, We've got one for you.
- 12:57Speaker 3: It's called hule.
- 12:58Speaker 6: I'm going to take a switch cheers to fuel. This
- 13:01Speaker 6: is the black addition, plant based as well.
- 13:04Speaker 3: Good for me.
- 13:05Speaker 6: But what do you like about it?
- 13:06Speaker 7: I like the nutrition of it, and the replacement meal
- 13:09Speaker 7: is great for me. Someone always on the go, like man,
- 13:12Speaker 7: I can just grab one of these out of my fridge, lunch, breakfast,
- 13:15Speaker 7: whatever it takes, whatever meal I'm not gonna have time
- 13:17Speaker 7: to eat. It fills me up and it tastes great.
- 13:20Speaker 7: You know why, because it tastes like milkshake, ice cream, whatever,
- 13:22Speaker 7: you want to call it. Whatever flavor you get is delicious.
- 13:25Speaker 6: Thirty five grams of protein, six grams of five or
- 13:28Speaker 6: twenty seven vitamins and minerals, low sugar. You can get

- 13:50Speaker 1: Okay, guys, let's break this down. In your rotation. Everyone
- 13:54Speaker 1: has a roll, right, everyone has a personality. You guys
- 13:57Speaker 1: have a very fun rotation. But I want to know
- 14:00Speaker 1: with your three veterans, Sonny Gray, Eric Frettie, Miles Michaelis.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Who is who?
- 14:05Speaker 1: Like, what's the role of each guy, what's the personality
- 14:07Speaker 1: and how they treat you.
- 14:12Speaker 5: I'd say Sonny's kind of like the mad Scientists in
- 14:16Speaker 5: the best way possible. I think he is a genius
- 14:19Speaker 5: when it comes to pitching and philosophy and thought process
- 14:24Speaker 5: on the mound. I think Miles is probably the most
- 14:28Speaker 5: laid back one. He's the guy you can talk to
- 14:30Speaker 5: on start day. He's choking around in the weight room
- 14:34Speaker 5: trying to touch the ceiling doing his vertical before a start,
- 14:40Speaker 5: and Fetti's kind of in between. I think he's very intelligent,
- 14:43Speaker 5: he has a very good understanding of himself. But he's
- 14:45Speaker 5: also like a never too high and never too low
- 14:47Speaker 5: kind of guy. He always stays pretty right in the middle.
- 14:51Speaker 5: And so I think we have a pretty balanced group
- 14:54Speaker 5: of veterans that we can go to and ask certain
- 14:57Speaker 5: questions and get really sounded by from, but also keep
- 15:01Speaker 5: it white and it's never too serious.
- 15:04Speaker 1: We actually have a lot of nicknames for Fetti upstairs.
- 15:08Speaker 1: I came up a Petti wop, which apparently is unoriginal.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Apparently people didn't climb that for a very long time.
- 15:12Speaker 1: But Daniel Guerrero started calling Fetti steady Fetti because no
- 15:15Speaker 1: matter what, like post game, he has a very consistent
- 15:19Speaker 1: demeanor for our interviews.
- 15:20Speaker 2: So that backs up. Let me, that backsup. We were saying, Audre,
- 15:23Speaker 2: what's your take on on the three I don't want
- 15:25Speaker 2: to call the three olds. I don't know why I
- 15:27Speaker 2: almost said that, but like the three older guys.
- 15:29Speaker 4: In the vocation, I mean, yeah, you got it right.
- 15:32Speaker 4: You know, that's kind of who they are, you know.
- 15:35Speaker 4: I think there's definitely a little bit more. Like I
- 15:38Speaker 4: think Sony's definitely trying to take on like the mentorship
- 15:41Speaker 4: role a little bit more. And like I know, he
- 15:44Speaker 4: pulled me aside a couple of times and just talk
- 15:46Speaker 4: to me a lot about it. Yeah, and then I know,
- 15:51Speaker 4: like Miles, he likes to like he'll blow into like
- 15:53Speaker 4: a PBC pipe like a horn and be like ready
- 15:56Speaker 4: the troops on start day. It's just something that you
- 15:58Speaker 4: don't normally see from most people, but you know that's
- 16:01Speaker 4: how he goes about his business and that's why he's
- 16:03Speaker 4: always so you know, collected, and it's very consistent. Yeah,
- 16:08Speaker 4: I mean, Unfeti's just kind of a goofball for sure.
- 16:11Speaker 4: Like I saw him just slamming balls on the ping
- 16:12Speaker 4: pong table the other day, just doing whatever. So I
- 16:15Speaker 4: mean I think, yeah, it's pretty much who they are.
- 16:18Speaker 4: And uh, you know, they're all really smart and they're
- 16:20Speaker 4: all really good pictures, and they each do things kind
- 16:23Speaker 4: of similar will be but also in a different way.
- 16:25Speaker 4: And you know they've especially Myles Andnfetti, like they you know,
- 16:28Speaker 4: they got one event to Japan and one went to
- 16:30Speaker 4: Korea to figure out how to pitch in the big leagues.
- 16:33Speaker 2: Bless you thank you.
- 16:35Speaker 4: That goes to show like, you know, like they've had
- 16:39Speaker 4: to grind through it before. You know, they were in
- 16:40Speaker 4: a similar situation where they were trying to through out
- 16:42Speaker 4: how do I pitch in the big leagues, you know,
- 16:45Speaker 4: and they had to learn in completely different environments with
- 16:48Speaker 4: completely different coaches that probably even speak their language, and
- 16:51Speaker 4: they had to go through a translator or whatever. And
- 16:54Speaker 4: you know, they understand the struggle, so they understand what
- 16:57Speaker 4: it tastes it out of it.
- 16:58Speaker 2: It's a good point.
- 16:59Speaker 1: And I can confirm Miles Michael's does blow into that
- 17:02Speaker 1: PBC pipe because when right before I don't know our
- 17:04Speaker 1: like eightieth rain out of the year, be like, I
- 17:07Speaker 1: don't know what the sound was. It kind of scared me.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Came to the house and did it, and I was like,
- 17:11Speaker 1: what's going on? And I mean it just it was
- 17:12Speaker 1: a start day for him too.
- 17:13Speaker 2: He said the.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Game has been banged and then bowed and left the
- 17:16Speaker 1: clubhouse and I was like, tomorrow, I guess, so shout
- 17:20Speaker 1: out Miles Michael was for the official announcement of days
- 17:24Speaker 1: rain out. Okay, speaking speaking of Miles, he is one
- 17:28Speaker 1: of the few that I have known the entire time
- 17:31Speaker 1: I've been here, this is my fifth year.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Just crazy. Maybe I'm the old now.
- 17:36Speaker 1: So I feel like I have a pretty good read
- 17:37Speaker 1: on who's the biggest prankster in the clubhouse, and I
- 17:41Speaker 1: feel like it's Miles and Andre hated do this to you.
- 17:43Speaker 1: But I've heard a couple of stories involving you, particularly
- 17:46Speaker 1: where you've been pranked, and I won't say them, but
- 17:49Speaker 1: I will ask you, is there one that's like, whether
- 17:52Speaker 1: it was Miles, whether it was Raino, that's you remember
- 17:55Speaker 1: as being like, Okay, they really got me good on
- 17:57Speaker 1: this one.
- 17:58Speaker 4: I mean, there's too many to count. I'm definitely I'm
- 18:02Speaker 4: definitely the target. I'm definitely the punching bag, the target, dummy,
- 18:05Speaker 4: whatever you want to call me for whatever these are, man,
- 18:11Speaker 4: I mean, yeah, there there there's a lot. I think,
- 18:17Speaker 4: you know they talk about. I guess, I mean, there's
- 18:19Speaker 4: there's so many. I just don't know which ones I
- 18:21Speaker 4: can talk about. So that's where I guess. Like one
- 18:25Speaker 4: of them was like my first year up and it
- 18:27Speaker 4: was like the month or so end and we end
- 18:31Speaker 4: up getting in like the benches cleared and you know,
- 18:34Speaker 4: to run out from the bullpen and everything and run
- 18:36Speaker 4: on the field and I show up the next day
- 18:38Speaker 4: and I've got this notice from like the MLB like, hey,
- 18:41Speaker 4: you've been fined five thousand dollars for running.
- 18:43Speaker 3: Out onto the field.
- 18:44Speaker 4: I'm like, oh, man, like holy crap, I haven't even
- 18:47Speaker 4: received my first paycheck yet, Like I can't pay this
- 18:49Speaker 4: right now. And then I go I check with our
- 18:51Speaker 4: clubhouse manager and he's like, yeah, they delivered it. They
- 18:54Speaker 4: send it to us today, like you know.
- 18:56Speaker 3: What you got?
- 18:57Speaker 4: And uh, you know, one of them, I think Miles
- 19:00Speaker 4: or I think it was Miles that came up to me,
- 19:02Speaker 4: or maybe it was Bader came up to me and
- 19:04Speaker 4: was like, hey, like she'd ask Nado. That's not how
- 19:07Speaker 4: to pay for it, because he's the one that was
- 19:09Speaker 4: the one that started to brawl and you just got
- 19:11Speaker 4: his back.
- 19:12Speaker 3: And I'm like, I'm not gonna.
- 19:13Speaker 4: Make him do that, like you know, I'm just gonna Yeah,
- 19:15Speaker 4: I guess I'll just wear it. And then at the
- 19:17Speaker 4: end of the game, he's like, now I just hit
- 19:19Speaker 4: like a walk off, Like now the time to do it. Now,
- 19:21Speaker 4: now you should ask him. So I go up to
- 19:23Speaker 4: him like hey, he got this, and he's like, nah,
- 19:25Speaker 4: that's on you. And they tell me that it was
- 19:27Speaker 4: just a prank and that uh way know how to
- 19:29Speaker 4: print it out and put on my chair Like before
- 19:31Speaker 4: I showed up that day.
- 19:33Speaker 2: I just want to know why it was just you.
- 19:34Speaker 2: Everyone from the bullpen ran.
- 19:36Speaker 3: Out well the.
- 19:38Speaker 4: I mean I probably should. I like, I knew that
- 19:40Speaker 4: it was fake. I kind of knew it was fake.
- 19:42Speaker 4: I even asked, like I asked the clothes. I'm like,
- 19:43Speaker 4: this has to be vague, But one of the bullpen guys, mcfarlande,
- 19:47Speaker 4: gave me a pretty good reason and he was like, Oh,
- 19:49Speaker 4: they just don't want guys who've been called up within
- 19:51Speaker 4: like fifteen days starting a ruckus. And I'm like that
- 19:54Speaker 4: makes sense. Actually, I'm like, yeah, you don't want guys
- 19:56Speaker 4: coming up and doing that.
- 19:58Speaker 2: So I house so you can got Ernie the clubhouse man.
- 20:02Speaker 2: It's the entire clubhouse break too. That's pretty good.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:05Speaker 4: I mean they they'll go they'll go to No, they'll
- 20:09Speaker 4: stop at no lengths to get me for sure.
- 20:11Speaker 2: How How did you how did you find yourself in
- 20:13Speaker 2: this role?
- 20:15Speaker 4: I mean I think it's just my personality, you know,
- 20:18Speaker 4: Like Sonny was talking about the other day, like just
- 20:21Speaker 4: be like, you know, people love to make fun of me,
- 20:23Speaker 4: and I think it's because they know I could. I
- 20:25Speaker 4: take it pretty well and I don't take it too seriously.
- 20:27Speaker 4: But I think I've let it go to a point
- 20:29Speaker 4: now where it's almost like customary. Oh no, But I
- 20:34Speaker 4: mean it's also a compliment. I mean, you know, Lance said, like,
- 20:37Speaker 4: you know, they make fun of you because they think
- 20:39Speaker 4: you're good and that you're gonna stick around. They don't
- 20:41Speaker 4: make fun of guys that they think are just gonna
- 20:42Speaker 4: be gone. So I'm like, in a way, it's kind
- 20:44Speaker 4: of a compliment. So I guess I'll take it like that.
- 20:47Speaker 1: That's true. That's a that's a good way to wear it.
- 20:50Speaker 1: You're doing the best you can. I haven't heard that
- 20:52Speaker 1: one yet, though. That's a pretty good one.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Levy. Have you have they pranked you? Have you? You
- 20:56Speaker 2: seem harder to prank in the most respectful way to
- 20:58Speaker 2: both of you.
- 21:00Speaker 5: Yeah, I haven't had any like actual pranks done on me.
- 21:03Speaker 5: I guess the only thing that I've had to do
- 21:06Speaker 5: is the rookie dress up. We did Willy Wonka and
- 21:11Speaker 5: the Upba lumpas a couple of years ago in San Diego,
- 21:14Speaker 5: and I was Willy Wonka walking around with all of
- 21:17Speaker 5: the up ballumpas on the streets of downtown San Diego
- 21:21Speaker 5: on Lloyd to our hotel and we were supposed to
- 21:23Speaker 5: go out to a bar or something hang out there
- 21:26Speaker 5: and in our costumes, and we ended up forget why,
- 21:30Speaker 5: but we didn't go to the bar. We end up
- 21:32Speaker 5: just in the hotel lobby, all hanging out together. And
- 21:36Speaker 5: the amount of looks that we got walking down the
- 21:38Speaker 5: street and into the hotel was pretty uncomfortable. But that
- 21:42Speaker 5: was probably the only like prankish type of thing. But
- 21:44Speaker 5: that's more of a tradition than a personal prank.
- 21:49Speaker 1: That's I do Like, it's Miles who comes up with
- 21:51Speaker 1: the costumes, right, Yeah, he's had some good ones he's had.
- 21:56Speaker 2: I can't remember what you guys did, but there were
- 21:57Speaker 2: suspenders involved last year.
- 21:59Speaker 4: Maybe it was that there was Bavarian was Bavarian last year.
- 22:03Speaker 4: We were all in like, like, I forgot because I
- 22:06Speaker 4: had I had a leaden hose because I did that.
- 22:08Speaker 5: For like the last Yeah, it was like october Fest
- 22:11Speaker 5: or something like that.
- 22:12Speaker 2: I do remember Octoberfest. I also remember Andrew having to
- 22:15Speaker 2: do this multiple times.
- 22:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I've done it.
- 22:17Speaker 5: Three times now as part of the Andre prank is
- 22:20Speaker 5: like eternal rookie dress up.
- 22:22Speaker 4: The cutoffs, well, the cutoff is my amount of service
- 22:27Speaker 4: time plus one, so it's anyone with less than that,
- 22:32Speaker 4: which of course always included me. But my first year
- 22:35Speaker 4: it was actually kind of cool because I don't know
- 22:37Speaker 4: who bought all the costumes, probably Miles, but they just
- 22:39Speaker 4: had like a bunch of them out there, and he
- 22:42Speaker 4: had one veteran choose their costumes and I had pool
- 22:46Speaker 4: shows my costume. So I'm like, that's pretty cool. He
- 22:49Speaker 4: chose me to be the Crab. I'm like, yeah, it's
- 22:52Speaker 4: kind of cool. All these have that.
- 22:55Speaker 1: I think the Crab is one of the the less
- 22:58Speaker 1: bad ones. There was one where Miles was like the
- 23:02Speaker 1: Magician or something, because I think Miles actually secretly likes
- 23:05Speaker 1: to dress up.
- 23:06Speaker 2: He loves the theme, right, but I can't remember.
- 23:12Speaker 4: I mean every plane flight, you know, will be in
- 23:14Speaker 4: our travel suit, the other the Nike travel suits or whatever,
- 23:17Speaker 4: the sweatsuits, and then Miles will be their full top hat,
- 23:21Speaker 4: sometimes off briefcase, a little cane. You know, there's no
- 23:25Speaker 4: secret he loves a dress.
- 23:26Speaker 5: Up and he's always matched into the city too, like Texas.
- 23:29Speaker 5: It's a big beat buckle with boots and a hat.
- 23:32Speaker 3: Like we go to.
- 23:32Speaker 5: Baltimore, he's wearing like a full black like mobster type suit.
- 23:37Speaker 5: Like he's always just trying to match the city, and
- 23:40Speaker 5: he pulls together some pretty incredible outfits.
- 23:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:44Speaker 1: I remember, right before he went to Toronto last year,
- 23:46Speaker 1: maybe like a week before, he was telling me all
- 23:49Speaker 1: about all of his different outputs he was gonna wear
- 23:51Speaker 1: in Toronto because I don't think he was pitching that series,
- 23:52Speaker 1: so he had a lot of time to plan out
- 23:54Speaker 1: the wardrobe and he was really excited about the Canadian tuxedo.
- 23:57Speaker 1: So yeah, Meanwhile, I'm over here just scrambling to my
- 24:00Speaker 1: Southwest flight hoping that like my legs are, I'm just
- 24:03Speaker 1: trying to get the game on time.
- 24:05Speaker 2: You guys know how, it is never kind of lifestyle.
- 24:08Speaker 1: So think of me when you guys are on your
- 24:10Speaker 1: charter and I'm like seaboarding on my third flight of
- 24:13Speaker 1: the day and.
- 24:14Speaker 2: They don't even give like good snacks anymore on Southwest.
- 24:16Speaker 2: So that's another complaint that I have.
- 24:17Speaker 1: You guys get like Chick fil A and I'm like,
- 24:19Speaker 1: oh cool, here are these pretzels that I've had for
- 24:20Speaker 1: the eighth time.
- 24:21Speaker 3: This week.
- 24:22Speaker 4: Yeah, but after we have those Sunday night baseball games,
- 24:25Speaker 4: think we're not getting it back home till like four
- 24:27Speaker 4: in the morning, So I think it averages out in
- 24:29Speaker 4: the end.
- 24:29Speaker 2: It does average out.
- 24:30Speaker 1: One time I saw Stephen Matt's on a Southwest flight,
- 24:33Speaker 1: which I don't know why he was on my flight,
- 24:35Speaker 1: but I'm like struggling going through TSA, I have all
- 24:38Speaker 1: my bags and he goes, do you do this every time?
- 24:41Speaker 2: Like, yes, I do this.
- 24:44Speaker 4: That's what everyone right now.
- 24:46Speaker 1: My favorite is a couple of you guys will ask like, hey,
- 24:49Speaker 1: why didn't we see you on the charter? And I'm like,
- 24:51Speaker 1: have you ever seen us on the charter? And they're like, no,
- 24:54Speaker 1: we just kind of figured that you got like on
- 24:57Speaker 1: before us. I was like, I'm We're not on the charter,
- 24:59Speaker 1: you guys. That's why we're always showing up at a
- 25:01Speaker 1: different time because we're on different flights. I had to
- 25:03Speaker 1: explain that to Jordan Hicks like six different times in
- 25:05Speaker 1: three years that we are not on the churn. All right,
- 25:09Speaker 1: quick message from our second sponsor, Chubbies, and then we'll
- 25:11Speaker 1: wrap this one up with a couple of quick questions with.
- 25:13Speaker 2: Andre and Livy crats.
- 25:15Speaker 6: You look different today? Do I see chubby shorts on
- 25:18Speaker 6: your shoulder?
- 25:20Speaker 3: Oh? This the sick design.
- 25:22Speaker 8: I mean, don't even get it twisted too, because the
- 25:25Speaker 8: lining normally is like an SOS pad. This lining that's
- 25:29Speaker 8: in the center is so soft, so smooth the outside.
- 25:34Speaker 8: So many things to choose from the chubby shorts dot Com.
- 25:37Speaker 6: Facts and the code foul for twenty percent off. I
- 25:41Speaker 6: got the Tiger Sharks O little blend of a tiger
- 25:46Speaker 6: and a shark. It's beautiful, so don't wait for a
- 25:49Speaker 6: very limited time shop Chubby's biggest sale of the year
- 25:52Speaker 6: forty five dollars shorts and up to sixty five percent off.
- 25:56Speaker 6: So like year, hit up chubby shorts dot com and
- 25:58Speaker 6: grab your favorites before they're If you miss the sale,
- 26:01Speaker 6: then use the FT code foul in lowercase for twenty
- 26:04Speaker 6: percent off support FT. Let them know we sent you
- 26:07Speaker 6: in the survey asks and get ready to turn some heads.
- 26:10Speaker 6: Summer's here, dressed like it in chubbies.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Chubby's reminds me, Liby, you're an Arizona guy. Chubby reminds
- 26:19Speaker 1: me of my personally just insane run at Arizona State
- 26:23Speaker 1: where every single man wore short shorter than mine, and
- 26:28Speaker 1: I will never not think of Asu when I think
- 26:30Speaker 1: of Chevvy's not a fan.
- 26:32Speaker 3: You won't catch anywhere on those.
- 26:35Speaker 2: We'll get too tall. You're like six'.
- 26:37Speaker 3: Five, Yeah i'm all. Legs so short shorts are not the.
- 26:40Speaker 4: Move normal shorts are chevvies for.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Him that's, fair all, right. Guys, actually on our next,
- 26:46Speaker 1: episode we're sticking with the pitching. Theme i'm gonna Have
- 26:48Speaker 1: Dusty blake on as my host On. Friday so what's the?
- 26:52Speaker 1: Dirt what SHOULD i grow them?
- 26:53Speaker 2: On give me some Good.
- 26:53Speaker 5: Scoop i'll got one, thing BUT i don't know IF
- 26:58Speaker 5: i want to push that button and not.
- 27:01Speaker 3: About his walk out to the, mountain.
- 27:04Speaker 2: First of, all oh my.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Gosh if we're trying to pick up the pace of,
- 27:07Speaker 1: play Tell dusty to get a move.
- 27:09Speaker 2: ON i get on him all the. TIME i know it's.
- 27:10Speaker 2: STRATEGIC i know he's trying to buy, time but come.
- 27:14Speaker 1: On the best was when he had that broken, foot
- 27:16Speaker 1: so it took double long and spring training just from
- 27:18Speaker 1: me to get to the MOUNT i was, like can
- 27:20Speaker 1: someone get this by like a?
- 27:21Speaker 2: Wheelchair this is. Ridiculous he's so.
- 27:24Speaker 1: Slow but is there anything? Else any other kind of
- 27:27Speaker 1: what CAN i what CAN i get him?
- 27:29Speaker 3: ON i don't.
- 27:30Speaker 5: Know i'd say like the walkout to the mounta he's
- 27:33Speaker 5: got a little hitch when he, walks AND i know
- 27:35Speaker 5: that we've talked about it with him a little bit
- 27:38Speaker 5: so that that bugs him. Sometimes but outside of, that
- 27:41Speaker 5: like he's a really smart. Dude he's very thoughtful about
- 27:44Speaker 5: what he, Says like he's very. Intentional he's not just
- 27:47Speaker 5: making conversation and make. Conversations SO i feel like he's
- 27:51Speaker 5: pretty self aware in a way that he doesn't slip
- 27:54Speaker 5: up a. Lot there's not a lot of stuff that
- 27:57Speaker 5: you catch him saying that he didn't mean to, say
- 27:59Speaker 5: or that us off brand by any.
- 28:02Speaker 4: Means, YEAH i pretty much just agree with. THAT i, mean,
- 28:07Speaker 4: UH i. Know the only, thing the only thing you
- 28:09Speaker 4: can probably harp him on is he kind of he's
- 28:11Speaker 4: been asking me to try and like be more fun
- 28:14Speaker 4: and be more entertaining and tell tell him he needed that.
- 28:19Speaker 4: Himself he, does he.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Does i'm always trying to like get a laugh out of,
- 28:23Speaker 1: him and he just looks at me and he's, like
- 28:25Speaker 1: what is wrong with? You and like there's a lot
- 28:27Speaker 1: wrong with? Me but live a Little, yeah He's he's.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Great i'm excited to see that how that. GOES i
- 28:34Speaker 1: think he actually is so insightful And i'm glad that this,
- 28:36Speaker 1: YEAR i think the fans are starting to see what
- 28:41Speaker 1: his how his plan has has really gone for you,
- 28:43Speaker 1: guys because this rotation has really kept this team afloat
- 28:46Speaker 1: during this really fun, stretch which brings us to our last,
- 28:50Speaker 1: question because we have to get to the ballpark. Soon,
- 28:52Speaker 1: Uh for all of that was made of the season
- 28:55Speaker 1: before we, started where it, was you, know transition. Year
- 28:58Speaker 1: we're going to take a step. Back this might not
- 29:00Speaker 1: be The cardinals team that we're used to. Having you
- 29:03Speaker 1: guys have essentially, said, actually, no we're going to be just,
- 29:06Speaker 1: fine and for you two in, particular knowing that the
- 29:09Speaker 1: future of the club two are going to be a
- 29:11Speaker 1: big part of how much fun are you having right
- 29:14Speaker 1: now in this really surprising turn of events this?
- 29:16Speaker 5: Summer, YEAH i think the last two, years especially for
- 29:23Speaker 5: the young, guys we came into the season with a
- 29:25Speaker 5: lot of, expectations AND i think that that's a great
- 29:27Speaker 5: thing to. Have there should be, expectations there should be a.
- 29:31Speaker 5: Standard BUT i think when we didn't live up to,
- 29:34Speaker 5: that it made it really difficult for us to find
- 29:36Speaker 5: our identity and figure out who we were as a
- 29:38Speaker 5: ball club when we weren't winning. Games AND i think
- 29:42Speaker 5: coming into this, year you, know hard for me to
- 29:45Speaker 5: say historically Because i've only been here for a few,
- 29:47Speaker 5: years BUT i think this is the first time in
- 29:49Speaker 5: a long time that everybody came in with no.
- 29:51Speaker 3: Expectations and SOMETIMES.
- 29:53Speaker 5: I think that that can be a really really good
- 29:55Speaker 5: place to build a foundation from and to grow. From
- 29:59Speaker 5: AND i think think you noticed it in spring, training
- 30:01Speaker 5: like guys who are just playing loose and. Free we're
- 30:04Speaker 5: looking for ways to have fun and connect with our,
- 30:06Speaker 5: teammates and obviously our goal is to always win a baseball,
- 30:10Speaker 5: game like that's why we. Play we all want to
- 30:12Speaker 5: win A World. Series we all want to go to the.
- 30:13Speaker 5: Postseason but that can only be done if you take
- 30:17Speaker 5: things one day at a, time and if you take
- 30:18Speaker 5: it too, seriously SOMETIMES i think you do too. Much
- 30:23Speaker 5: AND i think coming in with no expectations this, year
- 30:26Speaker 5: like we just took the field and wanted to have.
- 30:28Speaker 5: Fun you, know you Saw wilson spring training like nobody
- 30:32Speaker 5: had more fun than he. Did and even now during the,
- 30:34Speaker 5: season like you see him out on the, field joking,
- 30:36Speaker 5: around having a good. Time mason's out there having a good.
- 30:39Speaker 5: Time he's gotten out all laughing at third. Base like
- 30:42Speaker 5: our outfield is. Aggressive everybody wants the, BALL i think
- 30:46Speaker 5: just collectively as a, unit, like guys are going out
- 30:49Speaker 5: with less expectations than we ever have, before which has
- 30:52Speaker 5: led to us playing a very free brand of. Baseball
- 30:56Speaker 5: AND i think that that's, fun, yeah.
- 31:00Speaker 4: And a little bit to build. Off that is just
- 31:01Speaker 4: kind of like when you have those, expectations when you
- 31:03Speaker 4: have expectations that are so high and you feel that
- 31:06Speaker 4: pressure and then you have the, Shortcoming like you, know
- 31:10Speaker 4: what was it two weeks in the year we were
- 31:12Speaker 4: like three or four games under five. Hundred you, know
- 31:14Speaker 4: it wasn't. It we want one to nine on one
- 31:16Speaker 4: or one, set whatever it was on our first road
- 31:18Speaker 4: trip didn't go. Break it's Not and like that's one
- 31:23Speaker 4: of those where that's when the spiral can. Begin when
- 31:25Speaker 4: you start having that pressure on. Yourself then you start
- 31:27Speaker 4: doubting yourself and you start saying guessing yourself and all those.
- 31:30Speaker 4: Things but Like leby, saying when you're when you're free
- 31:33Speaker 4: and you're, easy you, know you take the. Losses those
- 31:35Speaker 4: are going to, happen and but you don't never go
- 31:37Speaker 4: show up to the field, like oh, man this is
- 31:40Speaker 4: the beginning of the. End you, know you show up
- 31:41Speaker 4: to field every, field every day is a new, day
- 31:43Speaker 4: and how are we going to win? Today and, REALLY
- 31:46Speaker 4: i mean even last night's a great example of, it was, like, man,
- 31:50Speaker 4: oh like you know what's going to. Happen then all
- 31:52Speaker 4: of a sudden it's, like holy, crap we're running four
- 31:54Speaker 4: to three in the.
- 31:54Speaker 3: Ninth you, know.
- 31:55Speaker 4: Didn't come away with a, win but, like you, know
- 31:58Speaker 4: we we had a chance to win that game against
- 32:00Speaker 4: another good ball, club and you should ep putting yourself
- 32:03Speaker 4: in those opportunities and it will go your.
- 32:05Speaker 5: WAY i think one Thing i'll add, too is like
- 32:08Speaker 5: the runway that somebody like myself was, given Or Victor
- 32:12Speaker 5: scott was given the ability to go out and maybe
- 32:16Speaker 5: not have your best on a certain day and walk
- 32:19Speaker 5: back into the clubhouse feeling LIKE i have a whole
- 32:22Speaker 5: support staff behind me that the goal is to figure
- 32:24Speaker 5: it out and not to get me out of here
- 32:26Speaker 5: Because i'm not performing at this. MOMENT i think that
- 32:30Speaker 5: really freezes guys up to focus On, okay let's move
- 32:34Speaker 5: on to the next day and not harp on this.
- 32:36Speaker 5: Day AND i think that that kind of parallels to
- 32:40Speaker 5: what you've seen the whole, Season like there hasn't been a.
- 32:43Speaker 5: Panic there hasn't been, oh some someone needs to get
- 32:46Speaker 5: out of, here like he can't be at this. Level
- 32:48Speaker 5: it's it's all been what do we need to do
- 32:50Speaker 5: to figure this? Out and we have an entire clubhouse
- 32:52Speaker 5: and entire support staff behind us trying to help us do.
- 32:55Speaker 5: That AND i think that that's a very confidence boosting
- 33:00Speaker 5: methodology of helping your.
- 33:02Speaker 1: Players, NOW i think you're spot on, There, Libby and
- 33:05Speaker 1: here's a hot. TAKE i actually think you guys are
- 33:08Speaker 1: winning more games because of that mindset and because of
- 33:10Speaker 1: that mentality from the organization than years, prior BECAUSE i
- 33:15Speaker 1: mean you have both of you have REALLY i think
- 33:18Speaker 1: added to the win. Total Victor scott defensively is doing.
- 33:21Speaker 1: That you see What Mason wynn can do on an everyday,
- 33:23Speaker 1: Basis Brendan donovan should be An All, Star and of
- 33:26Speaker 1: course you have your cornerstones And concraists And, arnatto but
- 33:29Speaker 1: by going out there and letting the young guys just.
- 33:31Speaker 1: Play look at What Kyle lady is doing right like
- 33:34Speaker 1: each person was granted some opportunity and the players that
- 33:37Speaker 1: were granted that opportunity have directly contributed to the win
- 33:40Speaker 1: lost record in a positive. Way SO i don't think
- 33:42Speaker 1: it's out of the question at all to suggests that
- 33:45Speaker 1: while maybe this wasn't what the organization had thought would,
- 33:47Speaker 1: happen the consequence of allowing, you both of you and
- 33:51Speaker 1: the majority of the team to go out there and
- 33:53Speaker 1: play every day and have the opportunity and have the
- 33:55Speaker 1: runway has ACTUALLY i think made you guys an all
- 33:57Speaker 1: around better team and it's been, really really fun to.
- 34:00Speaker 2: Watch so thank you both for doing.
- 34:02Speaker 1: THIS i appreciate, it and as a, REWARD i won't
- 34:04Speaker 1: ask you for any extra favors for at least the
- 34:06Speaker 1: next seven. Days so it also helps Because i'm skipping
- 34:09Speaker 1: a series coming up, soon so you get a full
- 34:11Speaker 1: break from, me AND i think that is a win.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Overall thank you guys again for doing. This That's Matthew,
- 34:17Speaker 1: libator That's Andre. Pilante I'm Katie Wu Cardinal. Territory we're
- 34:20Speaker 1: back with you On friday With Dusty, blake and uh,
- 34:23Speaker 1: yeah that's about.
- 34:24Speaker 2: It that's ALL i got from. You thanks as always
- 34:26Speaker 2: for watching.
- 34:26Speaker 4: It, guys thank you so, Much thank You, problem thank
