Latest / Podcast - Big 98.7 / Gen Z's Slang Terms You Should Know
Transcript
- 0:00I feel like I've never been on board with slang, you know what I
- 0:02mean? Like it never has felt authentic for me to use whatever the current
- 0:06slang terms are. You used one yesterday? Oh stop, you did?
- 0:10And I went, huh? But had I not known? Because I've seen
- 0:14people on social media talking about slang every once in a while. Yeah,
- 0:17you said, ah, that's mid for me? Did I say? Miss?
- 0:20You said mid? And I honestly didn't know what that meant until recently,
- 0:24and me, I know, you're so hip and cool. I take
- 0:26it back. I'm actually one of the hippest guys you'll ever meet. I
- 0:29actually did though, because I do struggle with gen Z terminology when it comes
- 0:34to slang. I found an article on how exactly to speak to Generation Z
- 0:37okay, so I'm usually like, hey, kids, isn't that groovy?
- 0:41I'm totally far out children? That is so fat that the meme of Steve
- 0:49BUSHEMI hey, hey, fellow young people, or how do you how do
- 0:55you do fellow Steven? So how's it going today? Oh? God?
- 0:59So some of the terms gen Z is using if you want to communicate with
- 1:00them as well, slay. We've all heard slay, right, I'm not
- 1:03talking about sleigh bells. I'm talking about s l a y like Beyonce used
- 1:08in her song. Yeah, she said sleigh all day, Like, oh
- 1:11that outfits slays. Yeah, I don't use it. You don't use it.
- 1:15No, have you ever felt like you've slayed? Slay and outfits?
- 1:19No? You ever heard it another less appropriate? Correct? That's kind of
- 1:23where my head when I didn't know you're using this just in every day.
- 1:26Uh yeah, no outfits or things, just you know, speaking of outfits.
- 1:32You can feel free to chime in seven to one to one ninety eight
- 1:34seven. We also posted it on Facebook, Sarah and I'm wearing one today.
- 1:38Pike said she cannot stand the word shacket. I've never even heard that.
- 1:42It's called a flannel, so it's supposed to be a shirt jacket,
- 1:48and people started calling them shackets when it's like, nope, you're wearing a
- 1:51flannel. Yes. Dupe is another one gen Z's been using, short for
- 1:56the word duplicate. The term dupe commonly used to describe an alternate option,
- 2:01like gen z Ers share their knockoffs, like, for example, this target
- 2:07purse is a Gucci dupe. Oh yeah, that's what you've been duped off
- 2:10a wish dot com. No, it's not that. It's not that sort
- 2:14of dupe. I get that, like we've all used the word, oh
- 2:16I got duped. No, it's do like that. Like that shacket could
- 2:22be a Cole's brand and duke okay, or wherever you got it, uh,
- 2:28mainstream boutique? Oh sure, sure? How about slap? That's one
- 2:31that see I use this wrong all the time because I try to be cool
- 2:35and I do it jokingly. That slaps. To use it, it feels
- 2:39weird that it doesn't feel anything authentic that I would say, Well, I
- 2:43use it like in terms of music, Oh, that that riff slaps or
- 2:46this new song slaps. Okay, you're trying to be a cool band guy.
- 2:52I'm a total musician. I'm not allowed to say things like that,
- 2:54Okay. Like, for example, a sentence would be, boy, that
- 2:58new album from low standards slaps. I don't like it. It doesn't even
- 3:02sound right. Sorry kids. Okay, Well you could say that pizza slaps.
- 3:07That works too. Another things gen Z says to no cap literally what
- 3:14there's cap and there's no cap and all it means I gotta tell you.
- 3:17Also puts my head somewhere totally? Is that right? I don't know why,
- 3:22but would please tell me where does CAP take your head? Continue?
- 3:27All right? What so? CAP just basically means, like our version of
- 3:30it, no lie, Like, oh no cap, Like, I'm not
- 3:34lying with what I'm saying. So why wouldn't you just say no lie?
- 3:38Because I got old, Amanda. And if you want to sound old,
- 3:40you say no lie. So if somebody's telling me no cap, they don't
- 3:43believe me, No no, no, no, you would announced like,
- 3:46I'm so happy for you. No cap. Like in case you are wondering
- 3:51if I'm being sincere or not, no CAP means I'm being sincere. If
- 3:57you want to add what's a term like? Because these are all so annoying
- 3:59me. But if you want to add one, what like slang term?
- 4:00Are you over? Seven to one two eight, oho one ninety seven?
- 4:03Call us? You can text us. Got a lot of Facebook comments,
- 4:06a lot of good ones, like com Man had said, shacke it.
- 4:10Sus made the list several times. Yeah, oh that Sus. I think
- 4:14the one that the majority of people are over. And I know you and
- 4:16I've talked about this a couple of times bruh. Oh, my god,
- 4:20let's not bruh me ever, Like, don't bruh me bruhp. No.
- 4:26I know a lot of moms are wearing the mom mama, mom, bruh.
- 4:30If my kids call me brouh, oh, I hear that too,
- 4:32like teens just referring to their parents as bruh. I I don't know if
- 4:39I could handle it. I don't know what my dad would have done if
- 4:41I called him bruh. It wouldn't end well or just bro even, you
- 4:46know, yes, just in general, I would have been in so much
- 4:49trouble. Big ninety a point seven, Good morning. Hey, I've got
- 4:53one. The one I've got is glitz. I started hearing this one from
- 4:58my little cousin. Wait, glazing. Yeah, I'm nervous. Yeah,
- 5:03oh brown nosing okay, yeah, the new thing for brown nose and glazing.
- 5:09It just sounds terrible to me. It made me nervous to Amanda,
- 5:13and I know I was ready for you to say something. I'm like,
- 5:15I'm nervous. What are the kids doing at school and they're glazing? I
- 5:19get it, You're you're brown nosing the teacher. So I will say,
- 5:24you're such a glazier. It does sound in a literal sense, it sounds
- 5:27less gross than brown nosing, because if you really break that one down,
- 5:30hitting either in the morning, big nutty eight points seven, get ready ready,
- 5:35that's he is piping hot today and now Amanda stills, let's see,
- 5:42let's see brought to buy JDP Electric. So Robert de Niro is giving credit
- 5:46where credit is due regarding his six month old daughter, Gia. He welcomed
- 5:53to the world a little baby with his girlfriend this summer, and he says
- 5:58having children doesn't get easier at eighty years old. He says, it is
- 6:02what it is. It's okay. I mean, I don't have to do
- 6:04the heavy lifting. I'm here. I support my girlfriend, but she does
- 6:10all the work. We do have help, which is also important. He
- 6:13does have six children, ages well six months old. He has an eleven
- 6:16year old, and then he also has a fifty one year old. Imagine
- 6:21being eighty years older than your child, or your child being eighty year you
- 6:26know what I mean, Like, don't you have a It's just done.
- 6:28No, Like I have some friends whose parents are like twenty years older than
- 6:31them, and then the older you realize, like, wow, we're not
- 6:32all that different, whereas my dad was like one of the older dads but
- 6:36not not anywhere near eighty years old would be crazy and just not okay.
- 6:43Well, I mean, I mean, at least he's admitting that he's literally
- 6:45doing nothing. Well yeah, I mean, yeah, you don't want to
- 6:47be doing too much heavy lifting at eighty years old. In general. Yeah,
- 6:51I mean the dipe. I guess you could maybe change a diaper.
- 6:56I don't feel like you're doing that change. I think that's where that we
- 6:59have help comes in. Just maddening to me, to be honest with it.
- 7:03And so is this. So on Friday, Jada Pinkett Smith, she
- 7:06released this book It's called Worthy. She dropped the bomb to Hodah on the
- 7:11Today Show that she and Will Smith have been separated for seven years. So
- 7:15on Monday, so yesterday she shows back up to the Today Show. This
- 7:19is a totally different outfit, totally different scenario. It's live, and she
- 7:24wants to clarify her comments. So we were wondering because Will Smith seems to
- 7:28be kind of confused by all this was to why she's telling the world about
- 7:32them. Well, the reports are he's shocked and hurt, which leads me
- 7:36to believe that they weren't broken up that whole time. Now, have they
- 7:41gone through probably some patches where they were separated or whatever. Sure, but
- 7:45I just don't believe that they straight up had broken up for seven years.
- 7:47Well, and can we also go back to the fact that they've been very
- 7:49open about this open relationship that they've had forever, So is that a part
- 7:53of it? Well, yesterday she just made it even more messy and even
- 7:57Hodah was getting annoyed. There's no finding another great life. And I think
- 8:00that's the point. It's like we are in a place now that we are
- 8:05in a deep healing space and we are really concentrating on healing the relationship between
- 8:11us. So it may not be the divorce on paper, and there's no
- 8:13divorce on I mean not on paper. There might not be a divorce in
- 8:16theory anymore. Yeah, No, we really have been working hard. Oh
- 8:22well, I didn't know that walling Is that on the whole that's the whole
- 8:30show? I mean literally, and I hate to misuse this term, but
- 8:33I believe she is gaslighting Hoda, you know what I mean? Like,
- 8:37are you saying you thought we said we were broken up? Are you crazy?
- 8:41Are you crazy? Really mean? No, you said that, and
- 8:43I am all about being open about your relationship has been very hard. You
- 8:46guys have been through ups and downs. Preach mama. Marriage is hard.
- 8:50But the fact that you're you're specifically saying you weren't together and now you're acting
- 8:56like we're the crazy ones, I know I can't. I hate it,
- 8:58And for that reason alone, I won't be buying that book. I'll tell
- 9:01you that she can't get away from Taylor Smith. She's doing a lot of
- 9:07good. So she had Sophie Turner and her kids living at her New York
- 9:11apartment just recently as they were going through the divorce stuff with Joe Jonas.
- 9:13Yeah, Now she's letting Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper kind of shack up at
- 9:18her Rhode Island place where they can sneak out of town and get to know
- 9:22each other. She's trying to play love maker there. Meanwhile, she's doing
- 9:26her own little love make in with Travis Kelce. We're finding out. So
- 9:30there's been a lot of reports. I think it was actually on the Today
- 9:31Show yesterday they said that Taylor Swift was looking for a house to buy with
- 9:35Travis kelce in Kansas City. We're being told that is absolutely not true.
- 9:39I find that crazy unless they've been together longer than we think. Well,
- 9:43I think that's why I don't believe that, but not long enough to be,
- 9:46you know, going in on a house together. No, I could
- 9:48see her buying property. She's what did we find out yesterday? She's she
- 9:52could give every American twenty dollars from the amount of money she's made off the
- 9:56aras to her, which is wild. That is crazy. I mean,
- 10:00I don't know if she wanted to get a pad in Kansas City. It's
- 10:03just because she hasn't been to me. No big deal for her, right,
- 10:05I mean, it's probably getting annoying, you know, just going back
- 10:07and forth all the time. And it's not like she can just get a
- 10:09hotel. I mean. Well that and now that everybody knows where Travis Kelcey
- 10:13lives, the paparazzi and such, it's not hard to find football player,
- 10:18but nobody generally, nobody cared. It's like, like he said, it's
- 10:20not like people were just parked outside his house because he played for the Chiefs.
- 10:24Now that he's dating Taylor Swift, they are oh yeah, yeah,
- 10:26so maybe they're trying to find a little love shack. I just hope this
- 10:30works. All the haters out there going, oh, I'm over it.
- 10:33The more I see them, the more I get giddy, thinking this could
- 10:35really be it, because neither of them have dated somebody like each other before.
- 10:39Yeah, that's what he said, that she's nothing like and you've seen
- 10:41his axes, and yeah, it doesn't seem to fit the bill, but
- 10:45maybe sometimes that's what it takes. Because they're both in their mid thirties.
- 10:48To be fair, we've never really even seen Joe alt when the guy she
- 10:50was with for six years. Yeah, not even sure if that guy's read.
- 10:54So show me one thing he's in. I mean, I know it's
- 10:56weird in the morning on Big Nutty eight point. It's good to have goals,
- 11:03you know. I don't know, do you got any goals right now,
- 11:05Amanda? You're trying to achieve? Absolutely? Yeah, you care to
- 11:07share any Well, I've got some weight goals, okay, hush, but
- 11:11then also just like some home project goals, some financial goals. Yeah,
- 11:16weight goal's all very common. Well, here's a guy with a goal.
- 11:20You gotta appreciate a guy who's twenty five years old. His name is John
- 11:24May, and he is on a mission currently to drink two thousand pints of
- 11:28beer in two hundred days. No, well yeah, if you ask him,
- 11:35Yeah, my goal also is to never have a hangover again. Well,
- 11:39he says, Amana, it's funny you say that because his quote,
- 11:41John May says, quote, I'm too young for hangovers, and you can't
- 11:45get hungover unless you're sober. Anyway, now here's this guy to break it
- 11:50down. And the reason he wants to drink two thousand pints of beer in
- 11:54two hundred days is simply because he can. Amanda. It's a TikTok challenge
- 11:58he is initiated, and what it comes down to is ten beers a day.
- 12:03Yeah, we're gonna need to shut this one down. TikTok. Well,
- 12:07it's hard to stop sol a solo man, you know, I mean,
- 12:11it'd be one thing if it was like catching on, But I as
- 12:13far as I know, I don't see everybody else. Yeah, but you
- 12:15know, to drink elllenges are it's gonna catch on in some way, shape
- 12:18or form. So once again, parents be on the lookout. Well,
- 12:22the video's got one point three million views, so people are definitely seeing it.
- 12:24He does say that when he does drink that a two thousandth pint,
- 12:28there's a bar who's offered to give him a show, Like literally, they're
- 12:33gonna have a crowd, a live audience ready to applaud it, like this
- 12:35is man verse food, but man versus beer, you know in a way,
- 12:39Amanda, Yeah, it's just I mean people do. When you're young,
- 12:43you do ridiculous things. I wasn't twenty five, but I was a
- 12:45child. I remember wanting to set Againness book a world record so badly.
- 12:48Remember that was like a big big thing when you were a kid. Likes
- 12:52not really, Oh, it was a big thing. So I remember,
- 12:54I'm like, what record could I break? So I set out on a
- 12:58mission to where the most so anybody's ever put on, which is the dumbest
- 13:01thing I've bet Like, looking back, I'm so just cringy about it.
- 13:05So what was the number pick? I'm dying. I mean I remember and
- 13:07the fact that my mom went along with it, Like we were at Target
- 13:11in Morehead and I just asked her if she would buy me a bunch of
- 13:13socks, and she's like, yeah, sure, you need them. Anyway,
- 13:16So I got home and put on I want to say, and end
- 13:18up being like four pairs of sous gonna say, can you even put more
- 13:20than But it's going to be hard to put on unless you're getting bigger and
- 13:24bigger and bigger socks. Now, once you get the fourth one on,
- 13:26it's kind of like you're wearing a cast, you know, exactly. So
- 13:30it didn't go very far. But so I don't know, I don't like
- 13:33it. But that's a lot of beers. Ten beers. I mean,
- 13:37I'm going to a music festival Saturday or Sunday, Amanda in Vegas, as
- 13:39we know, and we've talked about, and even ten beers in the day
- 13:41there, especially at eighteen dollars a pop doesn't sound appetizing. No, And
- 13:46just in general, I get too full. I can only have a couple
- 13:50and I'm like, really, yeah, liquid to me, it's like liquid's
- 13:52the same whether it's beer, oh no, vodka or seltzer. Really yeah,
- 13:58No, I can only have a couple beers usually kind of a one
- 14:01and done. Yeah, well you ate lunch with me yesterday. I just
- 14:03don't think I get full. I don't think that's an emotion. I have
- 14:07No, it's not. But that's okay, Pike, What do you mean
- 14:09it's it's very unhealthy. In fact, it's the detriment to my health for
- 14:13years now. It's okay, we just need to what do you want me
- 14:16to do? Put a little zappor on you like after one's like you're done,
- 14:18honestly, or just I gotta eat. You know, you eat too
- 14:22fast. That's the problem that you don't have time to tell yourself you're full
- 14:24that or even just drinking water between you don't get full. Even if I'm
- 14:28eating a meal and I have a bunch of water, or if I have
- 14:31a glass of milk with dinner, I eat half is what I normally do
- 14:35because I'm so full. Is it so gross? No? Just milk.
- 14:39Adults drink and milk for a long time, but after I was pregnant with
- 14:43Sid, I was obsessed with milk, and so now we have it around
- 14:46because it gains like their milk. I guess, but I don't think I've
- 14:48seen an adult drink and milk. I don't know if I've ever seen that.
- 14:54Maybe it's happening. I'm just and I'm like, hey, can I
- 14:58get the you know, we're right plaza yesterday. Can I get the Laredo
- 15:01and a glass of milk? Please? No? But sorry? What kind
- 15:05of two percent do you have on draft? Like it a mina in the
- 15:11morning on Big Nutty eight point seven? You want to spect a thing when
- 15:16you hear that telephone room by sprays fucking number this lesson by spray Sunny want
- 15:26arrested by Hey, It's Halloween season, very exciting. Yes, I decorated
- 15:31really for the first time this year. Fun fun. So this lady also
- 15:35decorated, and her husband Piercy's pranks. He thought, you know who would
- 15:39be a good victim, my wife. So let's see what we can did
- 15:41get in her head? A little bit about these pumpkins out of the doorstep.
- 15:45Doesn't everybody have pumpkins on their doorstep? Possibly? Hello? Hey,
- 15:54good morning? Is this Lisa, Yeah, Lisa, Hey Barne any waffle
- 16:00Bottom part of the neighborhood Watch Committee? Hi, how are you well?
- 16:06I'm good. We do have a couple of issues that have been expressed to
- 16:08us from some of the neighbors in the neighborhood, and it has to do
- 16:11with what they're calling your quote, hideous pumpkins out on the doorstep. My
- 16:18pumpkins, by hideous pumpkins is what they said, by hideous pumpkins. I
- 16:22didn't realize that. I didn't realize that that was an issue. Sorry,
- 16:26well, listen, you know, it's just our job to kind of keep
- 16:27an eye out in the neighborhood, of course, being the neighborhood Watch committee,
- 16:32and so when we have something like this brought up to us, we
- 16:33just kind of want to ask a few questions, get both sides of the
- 16:37story, you know. So, do you have any I guess, explanation
- 16:40for these hideous pumpkins? Well, I mean I'm not so little confused.
- 16:42I didn't know with that we had a neighborhood watch community news to me,
- 16:47to be honest. Yeah, it's kind of a new thing, just assembled
- 16:51it. Don't you watch for crime, not hideous pumpkins? As you say,
- 16:56Yeah, I mean generally, but this time of year it is kind
- 16:59of quiet season for neighborhood crime, so we sort of shift our focus to
- 17:03pumpkins. Anyways, Lisa, do you have an explanation for these pumpkins?
- 17:07Or what can we just get rid of them? Or I guess, uh,
- 17:11how would you like to handle this? My well, my daughter carves
- 17:15them. She's not she's not a prodigy or an artist. She's just five
- 17:22year olds who carved a pumpkins for the first time. You know, it's
- 17:26interesting you say that there were a few complaints about the designs, specifically on
- 17:30the pumpkins. Now, do we think that these pumpkins maybe would just be
- 17:33better served as though I don't know inside decorations. Maybe, Like I mean,
- 17:37I like what I've decided to do. Oh okay, well, I
- 17:45I'm sorry that you don't like my daughters. Again, I haven't seen them,
- 17:48but I can only go off of what I was told. Well,
- 17:51the thing is that I can pull whatever I want on my front porch.
- 17:52I guess we'll have to take it up with the committee, Lisa, because
- 17:56sure, I mean, I'd love to know more about the committee. Let's
- 18:02too bad because I don't know anything more about the committee, Because Lisa,
- 18:03this is a prank phone call. Why? Why is a good Why?
- 18:11That's a good question. I don't know the answer to that always, but
- 18:14in this case, I do know. It was your husband Rick who said
- 18:17that you guys had just put all these pumpkins out. He's a listener of
- 18:19the show, and he wanted us to prank phone call you. So that's
- 18:22all I know. I know that your husband's a funny guy and it's his
- 18:26call, So don't be mad at us. So good, okay, I
- 18:30promise I'm not mad at you. Like get Amanda in the morning. Come
- 18:33on, get up on DAG seven trending. Now here's what you need to
- 18:41know. Well, the Olympics are going to be in Paris this summer,
- 18:45and there are five sports that have been added to the twenty twenty eight Los
- 18:48Angeles Games. Oh so the Olympic Committee got together yesterday and added baseball softball.
- 18:56Wait, I cannot keep up with what's been taken out because I thought
- 18:59that was always part of it. Baseball softball, I think it's or is
- 19:00that a new sport? I think baseball softball I think is one because it's
- 19:03hyphenated, so I think it's within me. Tell me there's a sport called
- 19:07baseball softball. In turn, Gracie, look it up because you're going to
- 19:10be there for a little bit. I didn't get a chance. Lacrosse,
- 19:12of course, which I totally agree on. Cricket. Can't believe that was
- 19:18taken out too. No, these are the ones that are being added.
- 19:21Well I know, but like surely that was part of it at one point,
- 19:23is what I'm saying. Gotcha, So it must have been taken out
- 19:26to now be then be added again. Yeah, I suppose, because they
- 19:29do that often. I guess because also really quick flag football and squash,
- 19:33so those are squash, Those are going to be added. Now there is
- 19:37no space for breakdancing, so that's not going to return. So they're having
- 19:41breakdancing in Paris, but then in twenty twenty eight in La they're taking that
- 19:45out. It's just crazy to me. I mean, you cause you have
- 19:48these people who are actually trying to go to the Olympics. So now in
- 19:51twenty twenty four you're going to be in Paris busting a move for breakdancing,
- 19:56and then in twenty twenty eight you're, well, just should have played baseball
- 20:00softball so you can participate. We got to sound like big idiots right now.
- 20:04That's that's not an actual It must be baseball and softball. I don't
- 20:10think so, because it says five sports and that's squash, flag, football,
- 20:15cricket, lacrosse, and then baseball. Okay, so baseball softball is
- 20:18like sort of the same idea, but you don't know if it's gonna be
- 20:21a big ball or a small ball coming at Actually, oh, I can
- 20:23tell you, intern Gracie is not working fast enough on me. Here it
- 20:26says baseball and softball confirms as a part of the Olympics, it will be
- 20:30a both sports, so for men and women. So yeah, that's what
- 20:37I suspect. A lot of these shows might do this research before we go
- 20:44on air. But f thing on us is that when we just do in
- 20:47the middle of the story, I do like what you're onto though. Imagine
- 20:49if you're up to bag, You're like, I don't know what that picture
- 20:52is gonna do. It's either gonna be fast pitcher or gonna come up and
- 20:56wind a big ball just beyond your toes. Oh god, it's the big
- 21:00and uh have you ever grabbed the wrong movie before? One teacher in Miami
- 21:04at a charter school showed twenty minutes of Winnie the Pooh, but it was
- 21:10Winnie the Pooh, Blood and Honey. You guys, first of all,
- 21:14who created Winnie the poo Pooh, Blood and Honey. I remember seeing the
- 21:18preview or the cover for that moment? Really yeah, Okay, I didn't
- 21:22know this was a hot movie. Well, I wouldn't necessarily say hot.
- 21:26I just know it's a horror movie based on Winnie the Pooh. Yeah,
- 21:29this fourth grade class ended up watching this twenty twenty three, just disgusting video
- 21:37of Winnie the Pooh and Piglet committing murder. And they kept telling the teacher
- 21:41like, we don't want to watch this anymore? Can you stop the movie?
- 21:45I don't want to watch this, according to parents, And for twenty
- 21:48minutes this teacher just allowed them to watch. I mean, think about in
- 21:51fourth grade? Who do they kill? I don't know, because it was
- 21:56to jolly for you out really for me? Or you gotta go. Yeah,
- 22:06they all have their flaws, I guess, don't they all? All?
- 22:08Right? Britney spears her book is going to be out one week from
- 22:11today, and we're getting some expert excerpts from the book. One says,
- 22:17I actually envy the people who know how to make fame work for them.
- 22:21My demeanor was innocent and it wasn't an act, and I didn't know what
- 22:26I was doing. I felt like I was living on the edge of a
- 22:27cliff. And if you stood up for me when I couldn't stand up for
- 22:32myself. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. I'm ready for
- 22:34it, guys. I'd also being told justin Timberlake is very anxious about this
- 22:40book, as he should be, because that's what they're I feel like that's
- 22:44the tease. Though maybe it's not going to be so bad. I don't
- 22:45think it's going to be so bad. I think be so bad. Do
- 22:48you think that he's got his people like, hey, can we get an
- 22:52early copy of this book? Of course? Or even calling the ex Sam,
- 22:56Hey, you read this book. Can you let me know, uh
- 22:56what's in here? Because I would need to No, I don't know.
- 23:00I feel like it's going to all be very underwhelming. But that was a
- 23:03well written sentence, so that's promising all of those statements. But yeah,
- 23:07I mean I was worried about the just the clarity of it all, you
- 23:08know, really just and also when I was looking through because it was all
- 23:12on social media, I didn't see any emojis. So it's not going to
- 23:15be an emoji bunk or anything like that. All right, Whether I sayday
- 23:18it's going to be great sunshine high A sixty seven, otherwise it is going
- 23:22to be a chance of some rain through the overnight, but the weather's still
- 23:25looking great. I mean, we still could have hit seventy by the end
- 23:26of the week, like an in the morning, big ninety eight point seven.
- 23:30Don't you feel like when you're trying to lose weight, it's easier to
- 23:33do so if you and your partner are on the same page. I feel
- 23:36like that's the only successful route really. I mean, I guess I've had
- 23:40success both ways, you know, because my wife, like for you,
- 23:42just I fluctuate so much. Where my wife it feels like, you know,
- 23:45never too high and never too low, just always like maintaining the same
- 23:49weight, which is great, and there's super jealousy, nothing wrong with that.
- 23:52She reminds me of one of my best friends. Eat whatever you want,
- 23:57do whatever you want, and you still you. You just maintained like
- 24:02you look the exact same. Yeah, I wouldn't say my wife like does
- 24:04work out and does like eat well or whatever. But I'm either all in,
- 24:07you know, like bust some my rear in the gym and yeah,
- 24:11fasting and or I'm eating McDonald's three times a day. No, I hear
- 24:15you, like, as soon as you kind of get into that junk food
- 24:18vibe. It's so hard to even it's addictive. Get out of it.
- 24:21But it turns out, according to this new study, they did a study
- 24:22on couples trying to lose weight together and the effect it has on the success
- 24:26rate. Turns out got nothing to do with it. Oh really, yep.
- 24:30Literally, it comes down to what they call your self control or grit.
- 24:36I'm very well aware of self control, and I am not the best
- 24:38at it. You gotta be gritty, Amanda. It turns out grit,
- 24:41which is basically just your ability to you know, control yourself. They say,
- 24:47Well, couples tend to share weight management behaviors. Study found there wasn't
- 24:49actually any social influence between the couples when it came to their self control or
- 24:53grit. Interesting. I guess for me, and usually I do most of
- 24:57the grocery shopping and everything and that house, and he does some of the
- 25:00cooking. So for the most part, I'm guiding that train a little bit,
- 25:04and he doesn't, you know, if I'm trying to be healthy right
- 25:07now, I am. It's like, okay, this is what we're doing,
- 25:10this is where we're at. He'll try to do that, but you
- 25:14know, he is out, you know, hitting a buffet and do it
- 25:17nice during the day, stops trying. He doesn't, But I'm all good
- 25:22with that as long as you're doing your thing and you're happy. Just try
- 25:23not to Hey, oh, let's go here like, because again, I
- 25:27know it's self control, but I'm not the girl who's typically going to go
- 25:30to a restaurant and be like, I'll just get the side salad with grilled
- 25:33chicken or whatever. Well, yeah, if you're out, you're out,
- 25:37Like, why are we here then? If I'm trying to just order a
- 25:40salad, you know, I I guess you like when we're home. If
- 25:44we could just at least be on the same page as far as having nice
- 25:47chicken. If you want to put a little more sauce in your chicken to
- 25:48spice it up, great, but otherwise go crazy when I'm not with you,
- 25:52do whatever you want. I just want to hear it like that song
- 25:55says, I just don't want to know. I don't want to know all
- 25:56if you're if you're creeping at the buffet, just don't tell me, Pike.
- 26:00It sounds like you and I have zero self control. Why should we
- 26:03start holding each other more accountable. I mean maybe we do, maybe we
- 26:06do a little show weight loss. You know, yeah, I don't know.
- 26:11I mean, who's stepping on the scale first. The thing is,
- 26:12we never eat in here, so it's not like we used to. Back
- 26:15in the day. There was a time when this morning show would have in
- 26:18the studio donuts of a frozen pizza at six am. Honestly, on the
- 26:25daily you guys can be rolling in from the hub and it'd be like,
- 26:29ah, well, we're gonna need a full pizza for breakfast. I'm like,
- 26:33okay, so I'm supposed to be healthy and not have a bite of
- 26:36that pizza. Come on, I didn't have a chance
