Speaker 1: I say that we cannot have corrupt elections if we
• 0:04
Speaker 1: have to if they don't straighten it out. As an example,
• 0:06
Speaker 1: voter ID. Why don't the Democrats want voter ID? You
• 0:11
Speaker 1: know who does want voter ID? Democrat voters want it,
• 0:14
Speaker 1: but Democrat politicians don't.
• 0:16
Speaker 2: Why don't they want it?
• 0:17
Speaker 1: Because they want to cheat on elections. If they don't
• 0:20
Speaker 1: want voter ID, that means they.
• 0:21
Speaker 2: Want to cheat. We can't allow cheating on elections.
• 0:24
Speaker 3: If you're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with
• 0:27
  Speaker 3: Ben ferguson.
• 0:28
Speaker 4: Good Thursday morning, nice to have you with us on
• 0:30
Speaker 4: the forty seven Morning Update, and we've got one major
• 0:33
Speaker 4: story for you. Donald Trump sits down with NBC News
• 0:36
Speaker 4: in a wide ranging interview, talking about exactly what he's
• 0:39
Speaker 4: doing for Americans, what his plans are moving forward, and
• 0:43
Speaker 4: even throwing the media a little bit as well. Why
• 0:46
Speaker 4: is it that the media hates Trump so much, especially
• 0:49
Speaker 4: when he's willing to do these types of interviews, answer
• 0:53
Speaker 4: virtually any question. We're going to play some of it
• 0:56
Speaker 4: for you, and you're here directly from President Donald Trump.
• 1:00
Speaker 4: Seven Morning Update and it starts right now. Story number one,
• 1:04
Speaker 4: Donald Trump sitting down with NBC News, having a very
• 1:07
Speaker 4: blunt and honest conversation, focusing on all of the substance
• 1:11
Speaker 4: changes that we've had during the Trump administration. He talked
• 1:16
Speaker 4: about American confidence number one, saying that he has strong
• 1:20
Speaker 4: confidence on interest rates, which are gonna help all Americans.
• 1:24
Speaker 4: Trump said there is quote not much doubt that the
• 1:26
Speaker 4: US interest rates will be lowered by the Federal Reserve,
• 1:31
Speaker 4: signaling much more favorable borrowing costs ahead for consumers. That
• 1:36
Speaker 4: is something that the markets and many business owners, he said,
• 1:38
Speaker 4: are welcoming. He also emphasized his nominee for the FED
• 1:43
Speaker 4: chair understands his priority. The president also said that it's
• 1:48
Speaker 4: important that we allow the DOJ to handle business deals.
• 1:53
Speaker 4: This just hours after that anti trust hearing on Netflix.
• 1:58
Speaker 4: In contrast to his earlier comments, Trump stated he would
• 2:02
Speaker 4: not intervene in the high profile corporate competition between Netflix
• 2:06
Speaker 4: and Pair amount over it the potential acquisition of Warner
• 2:10
Speaker 4: Brothers Discovery, instead letting the Department of Justice review it independently.
• 2:16
Speaker 4: This shift was framed as respecting the process and reducing
• 2:21
Speaker 4: political influence on business decisions. The president also said that
• 2:26
Speaker 4: we're making great strides when it comes to immigration. Trump
• 2:30
Speaker 4: saying his administration learned it might be wise to take
• 2:33
Speaker 4: a little bit of a softer touch, Yes, that is
• 2:36
Speaker 4: the present's words in certain immigration enforcement situations, while still
• 2:41
Speaker 4: emphasizing toughness where needed. This was presented as a sign
• 2:45
Speaker 4: of responsiveness and learning from experience, something Democrats are well
• 2:51
Speaker 4: very concerned. The President also talked about money and the
• 2:56
Speaker 4: American people, his administration, and the national debts, saying this.
• 3:01
Speaker 5: Let's get to the FED.
• 3:02
Speaker 6: Is there any doubt in your mind that interest rates
• 3:04
Speaker 6: are going to be lowered?
• 3:06
  Speaker 2: Not much?
• 3:07
Speaker 5: Why how can you say that?
• 3:08
Speaker 2: I just think they're going to be lowered.
• 3:09
Speaker 5: To me, they chase your new FED pick on board.
• 3:12
Speaker 1: With that, We're way high. Okay, we're way high an
• 3:14
Speaker 1: interest we have now with me and with all the money.
• 3:18
Speaker 1: I've always been good at money, and with all the
• 3:20
Speaker 1: money coming into our country, we're a rich country.
• 3:23
Speaker 2: Again. We have debt, but.
• 3:25
Speaker 1: We also have growth, and the growth will soon make
• 3:28
Speaker 1: the debt look very small. Because the greatest way you
• 3:31
Speaker 1: have two ways, you can cut, cut, cut.
• 3:33
Speaker 2: And we do that anyway. And we did that.
• 3:35
Speaker 1: You know, we got rid of hundreds of thousands of
• 3:38
Speaker 1: federal workers. And those workers went out and got themselves
• 3:43
Speaker 1: jobs in the free enterprise system. And you know what
• 3:46
Speaker 1: that's called making America great again. We had ten workers
• 3:50
Speaker 1: in the federal government for every single job. When the
• 3:53
Speaker 1: Democrats go in, they hire I could right now give
• 3:57
Speaker 1: you the best employment numbers in history in order do
• 4:00
Speaker 1: go out and hire two million people.
• 4:01
Speaker 2: Put him in the federal.
• 4:02
Speaker 6: Does your new FEDI yes, Does your new FED pick.
• 4:05
Speaker 5: Understand that you want him to lower interest rate?
• 4:07
Speaker 1: Well? I think he does, but I think he wants
• 4:08
Speaker 1: to anyway. I mean, if he came in and said
• 4:10
  Speaker 1: I want to.
• 4:10
Speaker 6: Raise him, he said that he wouldn't have gotten the job.
• 4:13
Speaker 2: He would not have gotten a job.
• 4:14
Speaker 4: No, you listen to the president. There two points he's
• 4:18
Speaker 4: obviously making. Number One, I'm not going to fake the
• 4:20
Speaker 4: numbers with the federal government on employment. I'm not going
• 4:23
Speaker 4: to go hire two million government workers, which is what
• 4:26
Speaker 4: the Democrats did to artificially inflate the employment numbers.
• 4:30
Speaker 7: He said, I can give you the best employment.
• 4:32
Speaker 4: Numbers in history, but guess what, you, as a taxpayer,
• 4:34
Speaker 4: are going to be paying for it. And he's also
• 4:36
Speaker 4: talking about how it's important to have a FED chairman
• 4:39
Speaker 4: that understands that Americans need someone on their side to
• 4:42
Speaker 4: help them survive. That being a big part of the conversation.
• 4:46
  Speaker 1: Now.
• 4:46
Speaker 4: Donald Trump also moved on to foreign policy issues, talking
• 4:50
Speaker 4: about what's happening in Iran, the President saying this to
• 4:54
  Speaker 4: NBC News.
• 4:55
Speaker 5: Should the Supreme leader in Iran be worried right now?
• 5:00
Speaker 2: He should be very worried. Yeah, he should be. As
• 5:03
Speaker 2: you know, they're negotiating with us.
• 5:04
Speaker 5: I know they are.
• 5:05
Speaker 6: But the protesters have said, you know, where are the Americans.
• 5:08
Speaker 5: You promised them we would have their back. Do we
• 5:09
Speaker 5: still have the back?
• 5:10
Speaker 1: We've had their back, and look, that country is a
• 5:13
Speaker 1: mess right now because of us.
• 5:14
Speaker 2: We went in. We wiped out their nuclear. Peace in
• 5:19
  Speaker 2: the Middle East.
• 5:20
Speaker 1: If I didn't take out their nuclear think of it,
• 5:23
Speaker 1: if we didn't take out that nuclear we wouldn't have
• 5:26
Speaker 1: peace in the Middle East because the Arab countries could
• 5:28
Speaker 1: have never done that.
• 5:29
Speaker 2: They were very, very afraid of Iran. They're not afraid
• 5:33
  Speaker 2: of Iran anymore.
• 5:34
Speaker 1: We wiped out those beautiful Beat two bombers ones right
• 5:37
Speaker 1: over there, those beautiful little models, those beautiful Beat two
• 5:41
Speaker 1: bombers went in and they hit their target, every single
• 5:44
Speaker 1: bob and obliterated it. And because of that they were
• 5:48
Speaker 1: going to have a nuclear weapon within one month. Within
• 5:52
Speaker 1: one month, they were going to have a nuclear weapon.
• 5:54
Speaker 2: That was a big threat that they're not going to
• 5:56
  Speaker 2: have it anymore.
• 5:57
Speaker 6: But now if you ate it, I mean, if there's
• 6:01
Speaker 6: no more are they are they trying to restart the
• 6:03
  Speaker 6: nuclear world.
• 6:03
Speaker 1: I heard that they are, and if they do, and
• 6:05
Speaker 1: I let him know, if they do, we're going to
• 6:07
Speaker 1: send them right back and do.
• 6:08
  Speaker 2: Their job again.
• 6:09
Speaker 6: So you're understanding that they tried to restart it, and
• 6:11
  Speaker 6: that's why you're threatening force.
• 6:12
Speaker 2: They tried to go back to the site. They weren't
• 6:14
Speaker 2: even able to get near it. There was total obliteration.
• 6:17
Speaker 1: But they were thinking about starting a new site in
• 6:20
Speaker 1: a different part of the country.
• 6:22
Speaker 2: We found out about it. So you do that, we're
• 6:25
Speaker 2: going to do game bad things to you.
• 6:27
Speaker 7: We're going to do very bad things to you.
• 6:30
Speaker 4: The President not backing down on any of his promises there.
• 6:34
Speaker 4: The President Trump also asked the of course, obsession question
• 6:38
Speaker 4: by the media, and that is that somehow he's going
• 6:41
Speaker 4: to stay in office for like a third term. NBC
• 6:46
Speaker 4: News actually taking the time to ask the President this question.
• 6:50
Speaker 7: And he had a little fun with it.
• 6:51
Speaker 5: On January twenty first, twenty twenty nine. Do you see
• 6:55
Speaker 5: any scenario where you were still president?
• 6:58
  Speaker 2: I don't know.
• 7:00
Speaker 1: It would be interesting, But wouldn't it be terrible if
• 7:02
Speaker 1: I agreed with you? Know, if I gave you the
• 7:04
Speaker 1: answer that you're looking for, it would make life so
• 7:07
Speaker 1: much less exciting, right, it would be so much less exciting.
• 7:11
Speaker 1: But I only do this for one reason. Make America
• 7:16
Speaker 1: grade again. And that's what we're doing. We're making America
• 7:19
  Speaker 1: grade again.
• 7:19
Speaker 2: Greater than ever before.
• 7:21
Speaker 1: Our country is greater than ever before.
• 7:23
Speaker 4: The President obviously having a little fun there with NBC
• 7:26
Speaker 4: News not answering the question the way they wanted to,
• 7:29
Speaker 4: smiling from ear to ear, knowing that that was going
• 7:32
  Speaker 4: to trigger them.
• 7:33
Speaker 7: Now back to the serious issues at hand.
• 7:36
Speaker 4: One of the things the President talked about was getting
• 7:38
Speaker 4: rid of excess government waste, fraud, and abuse. And one
• 7:42
Speaker 4: of the examples of that is what he's been talking
• 7:44
Speaker 4: about with a federal reserve building. He is furious over
• 7:48
Speaker 4: the costs and then the cost overruns. The President asked
• 7:52
Speaker 4: about it, and this is what he said. The American
• 7:54
Speaker 4: people are sick and tired of government abuse of your
• 7:58
  Speaker 4: tax dollars.
• 8:00
Speaker 6: There's been bipartisan suggestions that the criminal investigation to the
• 8:03
Speaker 6: current FED share Jerome Powell is payback right for not
• 8:06
Speaker 6: lowering interest rates, but also for when he was in
• 8:09
Speaker 6: that sort of news conference with you with the hard
• 8:11
Speaker 6: hats and he was shaking his head and showing you
• 8:13
Speaker 6: the papers and disagreeing with you in public.
• 8:15
Speaker 5: Is that why he's under criminal investigation.
• 8:17
Speaker 2: He was very respectful to me. He was he was
• 8:19
  Speaker 2: explaining to me.
• 8:21
Speaker 1: I'm asking him, why are you spending almost four billion
• 8:25
Speaker 1: dollars on a very small little complex of buildings.
• 8:29
Speaker 2: It's the highest price for square foot.
• 8:31
Speaker 1: He's renovating buildings for three to four billion dollars. And
• 8:35
Speaker 1: you know, the sped share that I have is I
• 8:37
  Speaker 1: think he's going.
• 8:38
  Speaker 2: To be great.
• 8:38
Speaker 1: He might not have a home because this guy has
• 8:41
Speaker 1: spent so much money. And I looked. It's a see through.
• 8:44
Speaker 1: There's nothing inside. They haven't done. They are spending money.
• 8:48
Speaker 1: He's in judge of the project. This is the Federal
• 8:51
Speaker 1: Reserve building I'm talking about. It's a very small little
• 8:54
  Speaker 1: it's actually a couple of a little bit. They're spending
• 8:57
Speaker 1: more money than any building ever built in history per
• 9:00
  Speaker 1: square foot.
• 9:01
Speaker 6: Some Republican centers say, they're not going to prove him
• 9:03
Speaker 6: unless you drop that investigation.
• 9:05
Speaker 2: A lot of people say a lot of things.
• 9:06
  Speaker 5: You don't think that's true.
• 9:07
Speaker 6: You think is it worth it to drop the investigation
• 9:10
Speaker 6: to get your fed share through?
• 9:12
Speaker 1: I think the investigation is. The investigation is being handled
• 9:16
Speaker 1: by Pam and Janine and the people.
• 9:19
Speaker 2: They'll make their own decision on now.
• 9:21
Speaker 4: The president was also asked one other fun question at
• 9:25
Speaker 4: the very end. It's a little bit about his legacy,
• 9:28
Speaker 4: how he'll be remembered, and what he's done so far.
• 9:31
Speaker 4: And here's what the President had to say about all
• 9:34
  Speaker 4: of that.
• 9:35
Speaker 6: You think at one point people will talk about you
• 9:38
Speaker 6: when they talk about presidents like Washington and Lincoln.
• 9:41
Speaker 5: Is that something you think.
• 9:41
Speaker 1: Is going to have It's such an honor. But wal
• 9:44
Speaker 1: could that and everyone's screaming. Gote I said, what are
• 9:47
Speaker 1: they talking about? I hope they're right, not for me,
• 9:50
Speaker 1: but for the country, because if I do a great job,
• 9:53
Speaker 1: that means the country is doing well.
• 9:56
Speaker 7: That sums up President Donald Trump perfectly. In a second.
• 10:00
Speaker 4: If I do a great job, that means the country
• 10:05
Speaker 4: is doing well. And that's why there's so many Americans
• 10:08
Speaker 4: that are loving exactly what he's doing each and every day.
