- 0:21movies. Because we believe, every horror
- 0:22movie, rightfully, has his fan base.
- 0:24Even if we don't always get it. My name is Travis.
- 0:26My name is Jessie. And today, we've got two very
- 0:29special guests with us. Yeah.
- 0:32Yeah, very convivial. With shaken, not scared.
- 0:35Hi guys. Hello, y'all make it so exciting
- 0:38to be here. I could add like a little drum
- 0:43roll. We could just do just be box.
- 0:50Yeah, yeah. So we figured we'd invite you
- 0:54guys to come on today because it is long overdue and this is just
- 0:58a fun movie. So we thought it'd be cool to
- 1:00have you guys on this one for chopping mall.
- 1:04I don't think we've said that yet.
- 1:11Battle of the Mulroney shopping mall.
- 1:14Is that movie, right? The one that about robot hands
- 1:17killing people in a shopping bag.
- 1:19It. Right.
- 1:19Chopping them up with lasers. Yep.
- 1:20That's 100% lotions and tasers. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:25There's 100% chopping and no other method of killing exactly
- 1:32at all. Not even one little bit.
- 1:35I do like that. The poster is like a zombie
- 1:38robot hand. That never makes an appearance.
- 1:40I know I can Everything about it, just it's not the movie, but
- 1:44it's okay, it's fine. I think it's fine.
- 1:47I could so she into watching the movie and you can maybe get
- 1:50disappointed with the lack of chopping, but I think that it
- 1:53kind of wears you into a fun movie the way.
- 1:57Oh, absolutely. I agreed to watch the movie
- 1:59because of the title and I come back to it again and again
- 2:03because of everything else. Yeah, exactly.
- 2:07I do wish that the robots were a little more, you know, suit.
- 2:11Up, like BattleBots back in MTV days to that would be awesome.
- 2:16Not a buses that take you. I remember that show.
- 2:19Okay, so before we get started, do you guys want to let
- 2:23everybody know about your all's show?
- 2:26Sure. So hopefully you guys remember
- 2:29us I think we were on about a year ago with you guys was it
- 2:33was like two years ago. It was bad.
- 2:35My God it's like yeah there's episode of dirty something as
- 2:38the invitation as part of our cult month.
- 2:40Yeah. Oh, and I can't forget it.
- 2:43I always reference that movie. And I think I have such a great
- 2:45episode with a space. But we also review horror movies
- 2:50and we just make a fun cocktail to go with it.
- 2:53And we're pretty much on any podcasting streaming site as
- 2:58Shake It Out scared. Yeah.
- 3:00Go check them out because they're good.
- 3:02They're all are fine. Thank you.
- 3:03You guys are also on one of our Thanksgiving episodes.
- 3:06Where we covered Pilgrim. Mmm.
- 3:08Yeah. Yeah.
- 3:10And just is actually the First trivia Dead.
- 3:13Eye on our Discord so oh yes. Still undefeated no one else has
- 3:18the number of wins you do at my just part-time in April, feel
- 3:22really good because I consistently forget that
- 3:25Thursday's are Thursdays and then I was like, oh yeah, there
- 3:29was, there was that? So yeah, it's hard to manage the
- 3:32time, but yeah, you're still undefeated.
- 3:34So congrats just thank you. Can we get beat box, Applause?
- 3:41Cause I like that. Do you have any announcements
- 3:52before we get into it? No.
- 3:54Okay, well, I've got our poll results from last week's poll.
- 3:57Okay. So we talked about behind the
- 3:59mask, the rise of Leslie Vernon last week.
- 4:02Yes. And the pole for that was which
- 4:05of the big three? Would you rather have was we've
- 4:07earned into a crossover with? So the options were Jason
- 4:11Frederick. Yeah Michael.
- 4:14Yeah I'm embracing the proper respect.
- 4:17Okay, so on Twitter, Jason got 67 percent of the votes
- 4:22Frederick got 33, Michael got zero, interest disappointing.
- 4:27However is over on Instagram. Jason got 25.
- 4:30Frederick got 35 and Michael got 40.
- 4:33Okay okay cancels out, I am, I personally want to see Michael
- 4:38because I think the whole dynamic of him not talking.
- 4:41It would be hilarious. I mean, Jason doesn't talk
- 4:45either. Iraq has have a silence off or
- 4:51whatever you would call the not talking version of a staring
- 4:53contest. Yeah.
- 5:00Okay, cool. Alright, you can go, you know,
- 5:03one shot at by Michael because obviously if you've seen
- 5:06Halloween kills, is that the one where he's like just by himself
- 5:09in the middle and then just 300 ever Buddy.
- 5:12Yes, yeah, that's it. Yeah, versus getting buddy.
- 5:17First getting body bagged like Jason with the tree in the suit
- 5:20that's my favorite kill. It's just so in in my Friday
- 5:2413th with the second bag. Yeah, this is a yeah I think
- 5:27it's better in Jason acts where he takes like the to and just
- 5:31like slams them against each other in some pretty intense.
- 5:36Yeah. Yeah, I think it's better.
- 5:37They had to cut the one in part 7 down a whole lot.
- 5:40Yeah, suffered because they would have been a lot better.
- 5:43Yeah. MPA was a constant issue with
- 5:45them. Yeah.
- 5:46Okay, they're gonna get rid of them.
- 5:49All right. But enough of other 80s, movies.
- 5:52Yes, let's talk about this idea movie.
- 5:56Okay, chopping Mall. Kind of have Premiere dates,
- 6:01it's a little weird. They had a test Market premiere,
- 6:04March twenty first nineteen eighty six and then a more more
- 6:10final release November 14th of the same year.
- 6:14We watched it on shutter. There's actually a last Drive in
- 6:17version of it so we watch that. Yeah.
- 6:20But you can also stream it on Pluto to be Redbox.
- 6:24Crackle Prime, Flex free be fubo TV or Philo.
- 6:27There is no excuse to not watch this movie if you are all
- 6:30interested, it's ridiculous. Yeah written by Jim wynorski and
- 6:34Steve Mitchell directed by Jim wynorski music by Chuck Sarah.
- 6:37Now special effects makeup by Anthony show.
- 6:40Sorry, Antonio Dallas pretty myself.
- 6:43Susie Slater is Leslie. Todd John to Carolyn ski as Mike
- 6:47Brennan, Barbara Crampton as Susie Lynn carry Emerson as
- 6:51Linda Stanton Kelly. Maroney is Allison Parks.
- 6:54Russell Todd is Rick Stanton. Nick Segal is Greg Williams and
- 6:58the killbot voices, were done by none other than Jim Winter, Ski
- 7:02interesting. So all right, everybody's
- 7:06favorite game budgeter bug, 10. Hey guys.
- 7:12Do you think that this is budget or bug tip?
- 7:14So high budget or low budget? I really can't tell.
- 7:19I want to say that because they had robots that it was high
- 7:24budget. I want to go as high because
- 7:26they have like Star Wars level laser effects in this.
- 7:30Okay. So don't imagine is cheap.
- 7:33So budget is like 10 million and up Butt-head is 10 million.
- 7:39Yeah. Like that.
- 7:40So okay you guys are saying it's at least two million dollars,
- 7:44ten million dollars for the robots.
- 7:45Everything else was a dollar. Yeah.
- 7:48Okay, I'm saying Buck Ted. Okay, Travis gets it, it was an
- 7:55eight hundred thousand dollar budget, the lasers were.
- 8:00In fact, very expensive and they were worried.
- 8:02They weren't gonna have enough budget for all of the lasers
- 8:05they wanted. So there's enough lasers.
- 8:08I think this is a lot of excuses.
- 8:10Yeah, there's a lot going on. They do we look kind of cheap
- 8:14though. Yeah.
- 8:16I like the Blazers have different powers to like
- 8:19different colored. Lasers seem to like blow heads
- 8:21up, others. Just like burned you a little
- 8:23bit and others made you, you know, comically and cartoon Ali
- 8:27like, yeah, sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:29Like blue electrifies. You and pink just completely
- 8:34fucks you up. That's pretty cool.
- 8:38Yeah, that's right here. Lightsaber, you know.
- 8:40H.h. lights? Yeah, wait to do the different
- 8:44colored light. Sabers do different things.
- 8:45Oh boy, we don't have time for this kind of, I didn't like
- 8:48hyper crystals depend on it. The user can.
- 8:54Okay, I couldn't find any additional box office
- 8:58information on this movie. I have no clue how much it
- 9:01grossed, which means not a lot. Yeah, I'm sure the IMDb it
- 9:07currently stands at a five point six out of ten.
- 9:10Well, I disagree, but I get it right, disagree too.
- 9:12But yeah, that's kind of generous for IMDb.
- 9:16I think. So you get his whores usually
- 9:19rated super low on IMDb. Yeah, well and for comparison I
- 9:24did pull three other 1986 horror movies.
- 9:28The first of which being the remake of another, Roger Corman,
- 9:31classic Little Shop of Horrors. Yes.
- 9:35Okay, that released December 19th, 1986 budget.
- 9:40Of 25 million, damn worldwide, gross of 39 million.
- 9:45And that currently sits at a seven point one out of 10 on
- 9:49IMDb. That's high.
- 9:50Yeah, I've not seen that. I've only seen the original.
- 9:53Yeah. So, is it a loss?
- 9:54If the budget is just so different, but it's still close
- 9:59enough in score. Hmm.
- 10:01You know, 800k, gets you 5.6, was the other one.
- 10:04It was the millions, the number 21, 85 million versus well here,
- 10:12let's take a look at our next two comparisons, Maximum
- 10:17Overdrive, that released July 25th, 1986 budget of 10 million,
- 10:27nice worldwide, gross of seven. How much is that was his cocaine
- 10:31but she probably some lawsuit with me.
- 10:40You know, using the Green Goblin face.
- 10:42Yeah. That has a 5 point 4 out of 10
- 10:46on IMDb. Wow, really.
- 10:48Okay. And then the third movie, I
- 10:50pulled for comparison. I pulled this one for you
- 10:52Travis. Texas.
- 10:54Chainsaw Massacre to yeah fucking rocks.
- 11:00August 22nd 1986. My birthday.
- 11:03Uh-huh. Four million dollar budget.
- 11:07Don't add 4 million. Well, it makes sense.
- 11:10It's yeah, I guess so but whatever worldwide gross of 8
- 11:13million, only 8 million, unless it's 18 and my numbers are
- 11:18squished together. Now that looks like 8 million.
- 11:20That's crazy. And if this is going to hurt
- 11:24your feelings, it's got a five point six out of ten on IMDb.
- 11:27No, I guess he went like comedy with that one.
- 11:33It was. It's so different from the first
- 11:36one. I can see why people wouldn't
- 11:38like it as much. Okay, there's a lot of taglines
- 11:43for this may be good. Okay, and they're just as a
- 11:46bait-and-switch e as the title, I would imagine.
- 11:49So then I guarantee the people just saw a shopping mall and
- 11:53they thought it was going to be about that.
- 11:55They didn't know anything about the movie.
- 11:56They just wrote tagline space off of that.
- 11:58Well, the first one, the one, that's on the poster.
- 12:01We're shopping cost, you an arm and a leg.
- 12:05Don't think anybody loses an arm or a leg in this movie.
- 12:08There is a head also shop Beeping cost to your freaking
- 12:11throat. That should have been the
- 12:13freaking throat. Yeah, they all work there.
- 12:17Also, they're not shopping. That's true.
- 12:19Yeah, tonight, Park Plaza Mall, switches on the world's toughest
- 12:25security Force. Absolutely nothing.
- 12:28Can go wrong. Dot.
- 12:31Dot dot. That's probably the most
- 12:37accurate. Yeah, description.
- 12:40Actually mentions the robots kind of, but it doesn't have any
- 12:43of the Jazz and Pizzazz. That you want a tagline?
- 12:46Also, it's a mouthful. Yeah.
- 12:47You need that jab. It is very long.
- 12:50Yeah. Shopping will never be the same.
- 12:53Okay. Wow.
- 12:54I mean I don't think it's gonna affect the shopping this.
- 12:57All activates at midnight. Yeah I think the midnight thing
- 13:01happened because of like the mall not wanting to film here,
- 13:04right? Yeah I didn't want them to mess
- 13:07with this stuff during the day. Yeah.
- 13:08Yeah. They had to be out by like By
- 13:10the time they opened on the morning.
- 13:11So yeah, she's insane, fire die, I like it.
- 13:17Okay, but once again, nothing no, I know, come on shopping
- 13:24malls. Do feel like you know if you
- 13:25don't come out of there with anything you might die.
- 13:27If you step out of the door, this is your time.
- 13:32This next one, feels very Goosebumps to me.
- 13:35Okay? Shop til you drop dead.
- 13:39Mmm. But does feel very this place
- 13:44where they slashed their prices and their customers.
- 13:48I like again, that is good. If it would make a lot more
- 13:53sense with slashing / to see at least one customer get killed.
- 13:59Yeah, is really an active class war.
- 14:08I'll minimum wage workers. Getting filled for The Audacity
- 14:11Of do their job. Yeah.
- 14:12Right. Yeah.
- 14:14Okay at Park, Plaza Mall. The security Force isn't just
- 14:18tight? It's terrifying.
- 14:21I want father like specifying which mall?
- 14:24Yeah, definitely, it's Park Plaza.
- 14:30Okay. I have a few fun facts.
- 14:32Okay. So the killbots were created by
- 14:35a man named Robert short in. He did it with a bunch of like
- 14:39scrap So, is pieces of conveyor, belt, electric, wheelchairs, and
- 14:45just like other random assortment of things that's
- 14:48wild. So, honestly a job.
- 14:50Yeah. It could be used like escalator
- 14:53parts to, you know, because escalators are pretty scary.
- 14:56Yeah. Escalators.
- 14:58Yeah. 80s of us. They're about to know.
- 15:02I was actually thinking of Johnny number five.
- 15:04If you guys remember that, like Wally but bigger is that shirt
- 15:08circuit Short Circuit? No, Johnny, no different rubber
- 15:15Johnny from a fixed one, dude, in a wheelchair, they have, they
- 15:23have like, the Army. I don't even want to know what
- 15:25you call them, but I'm assuming the conveyor belt was used for
- 15:26like his their legs, right? Yeah, army tires or whatever.
- 15:31Oh, yeah, yeah. Like--on a tank.
- 15:33Yeah. So loud too.
- 15:38All right, what I was looking at previous for this movie, that
- 15:40was one of the things somebody said like, how did these robots
- 15:42managed to sneak up on people? That was Eric's.
- 15:48Biggest complaint. When we were watching this so
- 15:51that you can easily like stay away from them.
- 15:55Weakness is doors. You know, I like that.
- 15:58They use this escalator stairs. There was a these stairs
- 16:04escalators know a oh, Yeah, I'm talking full stairs.
- 16:09Thank you, Perry, the convenience.
- 16:11Okay. Yeah, so okay.
- 16:13So this is Jim wynorski second film.
- 16:16He was a big Roger Corman fan and wanted to work for him and
- 16:20he started off editing movies. And I think is how most of his
- 16:26was going to say that's kind of a.
- 16:27Yeah, he ended up getting to direct this and he threw in as
- 16:33many corpsman references as he could, which Roger Corman Didn't
- 16:37love because he doesn't like being self-referential.
- 16:40So a little uncomfortable was it the the pet store that was named
- 16:46after? Yeah, Rogers.
- 16:48Little Shop of pets. Yeah, that's it.
- 16:49Yeah, the crab movie, what did he work on that, too?
- 16:53I thought, oh did it? Yeah, it's like of the crab
- 16:56monster is, I was Roger Corman film.
- 16:57Also a cool. Great G.
- 17:00He was the second security guard that came in.
- 17:02That was reading the book. He did his scene for $600.
- 17:07Main Inspirations, for this movie, We're trapped and Gog.
- 17:11They had their first, they're like story draft written in
- 17:14about 24 hours in the full script done in four weeks.
- 17:18Yeah, that sounds right, as we said before, this was shot at
- 17:25the Sherman Oaks mall at night. They had to be out during
- 17:30business hours. The thing that blows my mind
- 17:33with that is like they destroy a lot of them all.
- 17:35Do they do like they build set? It's for that and film that off
- 17:39of the like away from the actual mall.
- 17:42I am not 100%. Obviously some of that stuff had
- 17:45to have been like a built set because of can you imagine know
- 17:49like the people coming into them on the next day and like, oh my
- 17:52God, they blew up my story. Shit.
- 17:56Yeah, you're happy as hell. Watching chopping mall with your
- 17:58family but you're just pissed from all the money that was
- 18:00like. Yeah, yeah.
- 18:01I guess I'll pay you back the scene where they're talking
- 18:04about like all the damages. They owe them all.
- 18:07That was just Actually the movie.
- 18:11Yeah, also makes me think, like, where does the 800k?
- 18:13Go? Because that just sounds like a
- 18:15nightmare. Lasers budget-wise.
- 18:17Yeah, not fixing them all the lasers.
- 18:22So Jim. What are excused?
- 18:23Kind of a perv he mostly cast Kelly Maroni because he was like
- 18:28obsessed with her and thought she was really hot, and he likes
- 18:32to say that he slept with every actress he's ever worked with
- 18:34which isn't really true. Yeah, she's denied that.
- 18:37Yeah, the show. Yeah.
- 18:38Very vehemently her character. Was named after the 1966,
- 18:43Playmate of the Year Allison parks and kind of in a funny
- 18:48twist. When one of the security guards
- 18:50is, looking at the centerfold, they couldn't afford to actually
- 18:54have a playmate in the movie, so it's his ex-girlfriend.
- 19:00Oh no. Hopefully consensual.
- 19:02Yeah, again watching. Oh my God.
- 19:06That's me. So Kelly.
- 19:12Yes yeah absolutely yeah tell him Irani has a theory that it's
- 19:20at the killbots has their own personality.
- 19:23So she said protector, one is just kind Joe Friday he's very
- 19:26just the facts. Killbot number two is the ditz
- 19:32and number three is Clint Eastwood Dirty.
- 19:35Harry number three is the one from like, at the very end.
- 19:38Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was originally we released 90
- 19:44minutes long under the title of killbots, but it didn't test
- 19:47very well, so they renamed it. Just based off of somebody that
- 19:51was on set like walking past my why don't you call it chopping
- 19:53ball and then Corman cut about 15 minutes out.
- 19:59I wonder what the extra 15 minutes would have been random
- 20:02attack of the Crab Monsters references for one.
- 20:05Yeah, oh yeah. She mentioned yesterday that
- 20:08they tried to like make Is to it where her and Ferdie we're
- 20:12watching the movie and she's like and it just didn't work.
- 20:15She's like it didn't make any sense, that's referencing it.
- 20:17Where we reference it is when random crab that makes an
- 20:21appearance. At one point I could say that
- 20:24they're like little hands are like claws.
- 20:26You know. Like a little crab claws.
- 20:28You know. Yeah.
- 20:29I could see that. Yeah they just make me make me
- 20:32think of the Futurama episode where Hermes like a great, some
- 20:36self completely to. Yeah and he's got this little
- 20:39thing. Coming out of his chest.
- 20:41Didn't like the same time. Yeah, yeah.
- 20:43Yeah, which Matt Groening has endured.
- 20:47I'm sure he loves this movie. Oh yeah, I got 100%.
- 20:50See it. The the other name killbots to
- 20:54with it, not performing well against people.
- 20:57I saw somewhere that they said it was because it reminded
- 20:59people of Transformers too much, which I don't get why it's know
- 21:05that I that doesn't make any sense.
- 21:10I'm it's just ridiculous. I mean, based on a lot of the
- 21:13reviews I was like, I was looking at them were negative
- 21:15reviews on IMDb and based on a lot of them, people just weren't
- 21:19paying attention. They like, why?
- 21:21Don't these kids? Just leave them all.
- 21:23Well, Derek, this is the old doors close shut and are locked
- 21:29from the security office until the morning.
- 21:33That's the door said at the very beginning of the movie, The
- 21:36Doors did close pretty late, though, I think the janitor got
- 21:39killed and then The door is not closed.
- 21:41They were just too busy sexing. Damn.
- 21:43Yeah, they were running owl. I think when they were first
- 21:46getting Chase and then as they were about to get out the doors
- 21:49close. Okay yeah yeah that's what I
- 21:52think that's what happened because they're even talking
- 21:54about they needed to end the like wrap the party up before
- 21:57the doors close right. People were just too busy
- 21:59answering random pay phones already.
- 22:02Noticed that so many scenes, reveal answer a random phone and
- 22:05it's nobody that's my least favorite Trope in like movie and
- 22:10The vision is that somebody's near a pay phone and it rings
- 22:13and they just answer it and it store them.
- 22:16Yeah. Call this for them.
- 22:18Like, I never understood. I think it would be fun to just
- 22:21like randomly dial a payphone though and just like getting
- 22:23like a conversation with a stranger be like, oh, hey,
- 22:25what's up? And then they actually are like
- 22:31no, I've been waiting for this call.
- 22:32Yeah, everybody knows that it's bullshit.
- 22:35But they both pretend to like be expecting that call.
- 22:39Yeah. Oh, you called just on time?
- 22:42Yeah, you have the information that I needed robots are going
- 22:46to muc. Actually need to get out of
- 22:47here. Okay.
- 22:51Those on my fun facts. Okay, cool.
- 22:54Wait. Now I have a bone to pick if the
- 22:56pay phones were working. Why didn't they call for help?
- 22:59Well, that's a very good question.
- 23:07That's a very good question. There's any answer.
- 23:09Yeah, I just realized this to I've seen this movie like twice.
- 23:12It's we're just saying that in 2023 when we all have access to
- 23:15phones. Maybe phones aren't like your
- 23:16immediate thought in 1986. That's I'm just being honest.
- 23:20This doesn't work because they did try to make a call out and
- 23:24they said, the phones are down. Did they?
- 23:26Yeah. So is that was already one of
- 23:31the killing was happening that the phone rings while they're
- 23:33trying to do the cigarettes. It's yeah.
- 23:36Like it's like getting started. He had just killed the janitor.
- 23:39It's about the fuck him up to. Yeah.
- 23:42Because I think of it differently if it was like I
- 23:44always reference Ultron when I see Killer Robots but if it was
- 23:47like Ultron where he like Taps into like your phone and your
- 23:49internet and he's like all kinds of things to mess with how you
- 23:52can communicate outside. But these robots just seemed
- 23:54kind of like, we're just here for one thing and one thing only
- 23:56and that's to rip throat. It's out and explore dad's and
- 24:02taste people. Yeah.
- 24:03Right. Well they're here for a lot of
- 24:05things. Yeah.
- 24:06They're here for a long time. And a good time.
- 24:08Yeah. Okay.
- 24:13I guess we've got several people and so we'll just maybe we'll
- 24:17all share a good bad and ugly and absurd.
- 24:20Okay? Like go around that way.
- 24:21Yes, yeah. All right.
- 24:24Guess what you guys like to share?
- 24:27Whichever Of you wants to go first, what is your favorite
- 24:32good thing about this movie? I guess I'll go first.
- 24:35I just, I think it's just the vibe of all 80s horror that this
- 24:40movie has. Like it's it's just fun and it's
- 24:45an easy watch. You could just throw on have a
- 24:47couple beers and have a good time with it.
- 24:50That's my favorite thing about this too.
- 24:52Yeah. Mine is that to it's the vibe.
- 24:55I also like just the use of technology in horror.
- 24:57I It's like something that I know a lot of people don't like,
- 25:00especially like when Chuck, he went, you know, robotronic, but
- 25:03I like this, this idea that these very simple robots are
- 25:08unassuming. So like even when the janitor is
- 25:09like hey you get out of here you damn machine or whatever it
- 25:13throws the little like taser on the floor on your like, oh man,
- 25:15it failed. And then it electrocutes the
- 25:17puddle around him and he dies, you know, it's like how campy
- 25:21The Killer Robots feel. I understood that they brought
- 25:25Dick Miller in to fight with a robot.
- 25:28It's amazing. Okay, my I generally agree, I
- 25:33think this is a really fun movie and it knows exactly what it is
- 25:37and it doesn't try to be anything.
- 25:38It isn't? Yeah, it's short.
- 25:40It's cheap. It's fun.
- 25:42Like it doesn't waste any time. I gave move so fast.
- 25:46Yeah, bad. Okay, let something bad.
- 25:50Everybody notice about this movie is that it?
- 25:53You said they moved the move so fast, but the robots did not.
- 25:58Didn't the actual robots move really slowly and they had to
- 26:01speed up the, yeah. Yeah.
- 26:06And then the noise is just like because you can see when
- 26:08they're, you know, quote unquote, taking off and they're
- 26:10just engine is revving, but they somehow, we set it already.
- 26:15They somehow get to sneak up on people.
- 26:18I think my thing about it is that like we get an explanation,
- 26:23there's a lightning storm. It causes a surge in the robots.
- 26:26Why does that make them go? Dad.
- 26:28It seems like they were already kind of mischievous, you know
- 26:32what I mean? Yay, yeah, it does.
- 26:35Yeah, they like catchy Beauty before it got popular.
- 26:38You know, you start to ask questions and it starts to get
- 26:41angry at you for asking the same question over and over.
- 26:43It was say these robots are very Advanced for the 80s.
- 26:47It's like they already have a, I am all security system.
- 26:51How much did Park Plaza? Pay for the security system that
- 26:55should be. My God.
- 27:00Making that much money that they needed.
- 27:02Like, you would think that these kinds of robots would be like,
- 27:04hey, we tested these at the Pentagon.
- 27:05Now, they're at this random Mall in the middle of California.
- 27:08That's where my bad for. This is, I think some of the
- 27:18girls are amazing, but some of them are really, really lame
- 27:21like whenever Mike dies. Yeah.
- 27:23Like, seein tae-hee. Yeah.
- 27:24You know, it's off screen. But when he actually does like
- 27:27fan or whatever he gets, Is, and, like, the guy act so badly
- 27:31falling down. So he like, sits down
- 27:34comfortably and okay, I'm dead. Now, I wish we'd had a really
- 27:38dramatic camping. Moment of him spitting out his
- 27:41gum, oh my God, perfectly symbolic, like the moment that
- 27:48gum leaves his mouth as when he dies because he can't, I can't
- 27:52go on without chewing. The gum is his Spirit, it is.
- 27:58Horrifying it falls out of his like throat hole in the best
- 28:01better than impressive. Although I will say that you
- 28:07guys catch, it was his neck like actually slip because it had
- 28:10little hole that's like the security guy from earlier had
- 28:13but it also looked like a kind of chop them up a little bit.
- 28:15Right. Yeah it didn't chop and Shop.
- 28:17Commit did the actual Chop Chop dude, is off screen.
- 28:25Do you think maybe it was one that was edited for time?
- 28:29I don't know. I think that they probably did
- 28:30that out of limitations, honestly?
- 28:32The right, we're blowing our budget on the lasers.
- 28:34We can. All right.
- 28:40Pick each of us will pick one absurd moment from this movie.
- 28:44I got mine. I've got a couple actually.
- 28:46So I'm ready for if you guys still any of my ugly.
- 28:51Oh yeah. Ugly well, shit.
- 28:53What's ugly about? This is ugly.
- 28:55Like I know like it is hideous way.
- 28:56Or is ugly like Your task. I could be either exact same
- 29:01thing. It's up to interpretation that
- 29:02you find ugly about the movie, you know.
- 29:04Like it can be like something like visibly ugly or something.
- 29:08That feels ugly, gotcha. I'm gonna say the
- 29:12behind-the-scenes stuff with her Joey.
- 29:17It's clearly not a comfortable set situation if that's you know
- 29:22that. Yeah, yes stay away.
- 29:24It was all described is very probably just I'm Kelly Moretti
- 29:28has like, such a fond memory of this movie and we had a lot of
- 29:33fun talking to her about it at the Jamboree last year, but you
- 29:38know, it is kind of like icky to heat it.
- 29:39Like nobody wants their Boston, it on them.
- 29:41Yeah. Definitely gives you the egg.
- 29:43Yeah. Especially that he lied that.
- 29:46Yeah, it sucks. Yeah.
- 29:48Yeah. What the fuck why would you do
- 29:49that? Lets just so messed up.
- 29:51Well, then adding on to it. Like, the whole, like we use our
- 29:53exes picture for the. Yeah, sure that if that's even
- 29:57more Or a kick to it. Okay well I think we're all just
- 30:01silent. Yeah.
- 30:04All right, and the Absurd. Okay, now we're at the Absurd I
- 30:08want to start with Barbara Captain's death or she keep
- 30:22her and she had come out of the nice safe air duct to save Greg
- 30:26and Greg is like No seems everybody's this side.
- 30:31I am. I always waiting for her to also
- 30:47get like squished in turnovers. I'm sure those robots are heavy.
- 30:50Yeah. Eric, you would have written a
- 30:53very fucked up movie with it. Then there was also like a
- 31:02Romanticism to her burning because she was, she got out of
- 31:04the vents because she wasn't so hot.
- 31:06Oh wow, yeah. Damn, this movie's got bleep.
- 31:14I would say the entire dialogue happening in this movie is
- 31:17absurd. So again, there's conversations
- 31:20that take place where you're like, they didn't say anything.
- 31:23No, it was because it's okay. So that's 24 hours makes sense,
- 31:26right? Because then you're just sitting
- 31:27there thinking like, Would be a cool thing for this character to
- 31:29say, let me just throw down like a bunch of quotable lines, but
- 31:32not make any of the lines actually tied together you, I
- 31:38want you to go ahead and go, okay, okay, I'm gonna say
- 31:42because it's such an iconic moment whenever ferti meets
- 31:46Allison that. I love that she spins around in
- 31:49her chair. Like she's a bond villain.
- 31:53Maybe. That's part of like the sky.
- 31:54Like she's just like spinning in circles entire time.
- 31:57Shit all the time. Okay, so I got a couple one when
- 32:11he gets on the little machine and drives into the robot.
- 32:15Killing it at 2 miles an hour. How does that kill it to at the
- 32:20end of the movie? Yes, yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 32:26Number two, whenever the movies over and we see ferdi with an
- 32:29entire roll of toilet paper onto his head to I guess block the
- 32:35Eat well and we lost Return of the Living Dead afterwards.
- 32:38Yeah, if anybody's listen to her episode on this, you know that I
- 32:43rage at Fred using just the roll of paper towels not like an
- 32:49individual paper tower but the roll, it's clean off the
- 32:52canister. I just like the whole thing with
- 32:54that too is like where the you took?
- 32:57The sorry. I'm so worked up.
- 33:00I took the time there's a lot going after your maybe
- 33:04girlfriend and you like, I gotta go to the bathroom and get my
- 33:06head fixed man. I mean what?
- 33:16But still at the same time, like, come on, dude, also ferdy.
- 33:21What kind of name is Ferdie? It rhymes with the nerdy, which
- 33:25is what they needed. Oh man Ferdinand.
- 33:27Oh what a name bringing up the his parents had big expectations
- 33:34for him. Not live up to them.
- 33:38I want to say the you're riding with them being nerdy because
- 33:41they're, you know, was Alison and Freddie are both watching
- 33:44The Crab movie. While everyone else is having
- 33:46sex two feet away from them. Yeah, that's absurd.
- 33:50Okay, yeah, I know people, but like I would not do it.
- 33:55Two feet away from my friends, who's doing it, doing it.
- 33:58Two feet away from another group of friends, that's doing it,
- 34:00because they're all doing it, like, they're all on their own
- 34:02private room, like they're just but it'd be different.
- 34:06That's maybe being like prudish. But I'd be like, yo, cover your
- 34:08girls, my friend sounds, I just don't need, I do.
- 34:13Yeah, sorry. Oh, and 1/3, yeah.
- 34:16Oh, go ahead. No, go ahead.
- 34:16Were you saying the one more thing on them?
- 34:18Having sex, when Barbara Crampton and the other dude are
- 34:21having sex. If you look in the background,
- 34:22while they're watching the movie, they're just like
- 34:23flailing, their heart is failing.
- 34:27Another thing, no one has sex like that where he tells her
- 34:30that she smells like pepperoni absurd.
- 34:34But he says Likes pepper. I know she's like I'm guessing
- 34:37pepperonis for you right here. Also, can we add to the Absurd?
- 34:45The fact that Allison and Ferdie.
- 34:48Both have pant fish, fit issues. Yeah, they got camel toe moose
- 34:53knuckle and there's a to that didn't fuck.
- 34:58Yeah, it's true. Yeah, it's their genitalia
- 35:00screaming for some action so a lot of absurd for this is
- 35:08probably the best. Okay.
- 35:12What do you guys read it out of Tim?
- 35:15I think Justin. Terms of it being a good time,
- 35:19do not go into it. Like, looking for serious
- 35:22context, it's just fun. I'd give it an 8 out of 10,
- 35:25okay. Yeah.
- 35:26I think it gave it a 7, it's definitely just fun.
- 35:30Forget all the things that are wrong with it.
- 35:32Just enjoy it. That's where I'm at to, man.
- 35:35Except I love this movie so much.
- 35:37It's it has so much room. Watchability, to me, special.
- 35:40I'm gonna give it like a nine because it's this, this movie
- 35:45does not deserve a nine, but it's Factor gets it a 9 for me.
- 35:50Yeah. This is I love this movie.
- 35:53I've loved it since the first time we watched it, it's a
- 35:55comfort movie for us. I'm going to give an 8.5 X,
- 35:59okay? Which gives us a starting
- 36:00average of eight point one. Two, five, take that and suck
- 36:04it. I am suck it 80s horror as it,
- 36:09did not know that there was a last Drive in episode on this.
- 36:12So I'm totally going to watch it.
- 36:14Now, do ya Kelly. Maroni comes on as a guest.
- 36:17That's all of our fun facts came from that episode.
- 36:19So sorry, good portion of our listener base.
- 36:22That is mutant fam. This is all repetitive for you.
- 36:26This is my introduction to the last Drivin, like actually
- 36:29watching a first for the. So I think mines was Sleepaway
- 36:34Camp. That's a good one to one.
- 36:38Mine was yours. Was Hills Have Eyes?
- 36:41Yeah, I saw like the moment that like interest, click the near.
- 36:45Yeah. Talking about Wes Craven.
- 36:48Yeah, it was like, I think I first heard of chop them
- 36:53although in general from the In Search Of Darkness.
- 36:56Oh yeah. What's that for the first time
- 36:59last month? Yeah, we've seen part one now.
- 37:01So we need to catch up on, you know, the remaining nine hours.
- 37:10Okay. Get into it.
- 37:11Yeah, okay, let's do this. Alright, so we open up with the
- 37:16the video demonstration. There is a jewelry store
- 37:20break-in and a kilowatt. They're called The Protector.
- 37:23101 series. I think that this is the Dirty
- 37:26Harry because this is a dirty. Yeah.
- 37:28Oh, yeah. He shouts at the thief to stop
- 37:32and the thief is like, what are you gonna do?
- 37:34You just it done bro, by, and then he shoots The Protector a
- 37:38lot. And then the projector is like,
- 37:41bitch, whatever. And then chases him and tase him
- 37:45and then that's where we This is just a demonstration in the
- 37:49middle of the mall, to presumably shop owners, but it
- 37:53also seems to be that like, it's business hours, still of them,
- 37:57all it does. But you don't see anybody.
- 37:59Yeah, around. It looks like it's closed.
- 38:02I thought Allison was interesting because they turn on
- 38:06the robots to and, and it's supposed to identify who's not
- 38:10supposed to be there and who is but it doesn't start just
- 38:12killing everyone. Yeah, yeah, well and here's the
- 38:15thing too. Is that this?
- 38:16Is the security company demonstrating how they could
- 38:19read the ID badge, but it seems like if you have an ID badge
- 38:22issued by this company, it doesn't matter if you actually
- 38:25work in the building, you're at because clearly this guy doesn't
- 38:28have Mall clearance. Like, he's like, okay, yeah,
- 38:32there's a picture and a barcode on it, but all it really needs.
- 38:35Probably is the barcode plus. Yeah, you're fucked.
- 38:37If you forgot your card, I give, yeah, that's it.
- 38:40Yeah, you're dead. Yeah, no, I'm so why put gun
- 38:44like why put like you know, kill power on?
- 38:47Robot I know, right? Yeah.
- 38:49Why do why do you need that? Feels like sausage almonds.
- 38:52Somebody's got like a heart condition or asthma.
- 38:55Like, if somebody tased me, I could actually really die.
- 38:58So I'll sue, yeah, they're gonna get sued.
- 39:00Yeah, let's let's turn this episode into just so.
- 39:03What, what's wrong with technology?
- 39:08Better way to design the robot? I really love during this
- 39:11demonstration. Paul Blanton and Mary woronov
- 39:15are playing a mirror A couple that owns a restaurant and
- 39:18they're like those kids in class that are making fun of the
- 39:21teachers all the time. I love the energy of them.
- 39:25I love how they're like that guy is dead, that man in the video
- 39:28that you showed is literally not alive anymore.
- 39:32Hey guys, this is reacting to yeah.
- 39:51Here's the thing too. Is that they're doing this as a
- 39:54demonstration but it seems like the security system has already
- 39:57been bought by Park Plaza, and it seems like they're not
- 40:01getting any real training on how the security system is going to
- 40:04work there. Like show your badge, the out by
- 40:06midnight before the steel doors close.
- 40:10There we go. They don't, they don't even show
- 40:13how you get out from the steel doors right there.
- 40:15Just like you just don't get killed by the robot but also the
- 40:17doors are locked Forever Until the morning.
- 40:20They don't show like yeah, use your map to get out because they
- 40:23could have just done gone to like the dead janitor guy and
- 40:26then grabbed his badge to leave. Yeah, there's got to be a way to
- 40:29get out right. Like what if you accidentally
- 40:30get locked in like you can just show your badge and it'll open
- 40:33it up to the like there should be like a little badge reader at
- 40:36the doors if they can put badge, reading in the killbot.
- 40:39It's fucking sucks. Like they're like if you stay
- 40:43there past midnight, you're gonna die.
- 40:45And, you know, they're all making minimum wage.
- 40:48Yeah, but you guys bought these robots for millions of dollars.
- 40:52It's gonna be cheap. Okay, so then we go to the
- 40:56opening credits with. I love the music.
- 40:59I like it's, yeah, it's so it's so I've had Allison's theme
- 41:03stuck in my head since last night.
- 41:07Yeah, this is all versions. Yeah, I like a good like like it
- 41:12was synthesizer keyboards. Just likes.
- 41:14Keep it simple. Yeah.
- 41:15It's for sure of the era that Allison has a theme.
- 41:18I didn't pay attention close enough to see if the music was
- 41:20changing. But I did notice one C and if
- 41:22you guys caught it where the music clips so hard, it Clips so
- 41:26hard. It's when they like get the guns
- 41:29and then they're about to shoot the robots because they're like
- 41:31ready? And so the girls are gone.
- 41:34Yeah, events, the music just cuts off.
- 41:36No transition that literally Clips.
- 41:38You can hear them. I think they cut to Joe Bob
- 41:43break. Oh yeah, I know.
- 41:52Allison's name is. The du du du du du normal team.
- 42:15I do love and these opening credits is just people enjoying
- 42:18their Mall time and it keeps cutting to this very stressed
- 42:22out lady with it. And then she finally makes it
- 42:27spills it all over the helmet. Okay, she drops the, she drops
- 42:33it on that, dude, and the whole table like Falls lips.
- 42:36Yeah. Okay, so we end up at a pizza
- 42:40restaurant. There is a regular there who
- 42:44eats so much food. Yeah, so much food.
- 42:48He goes there, every single minute.
- 42:50He's yes, more butter. Like, what is what?
- 42:55Butter it like it's garlic bread.
- 42:57Do you know? There was a guy in my high
- 43:01school and like one of our friends just randomly decided to
- 43:05start. A rumor is like Evan can eat an
- 43:07entire stick of butter just like shout out to Adam so Susie and
- 43:20Allison both work there. It's Barbara Crampton and Kelly,
- 43:23Moroni Kelly or Allison is new in town and Susie is her friend.
- 43:29And she's like, Hey come to this party at the furniture store
- 43:31tonight, we got a cool guy set you up with and she's like I'm
- 43:36not so sure about that and she's like just do it.
- 43:39It's the guy eating over there outside.
- 43:44We see there's some lightning and thunder going on very real,
- 43:47very believable. I think they borrowed the
- 43:50lightning from Child's Play. Yeah, that's good because I'm
- 43:53Bella. Lightning is before Child's
- 43:55Play. Just play borrowed it from.
- 43:56Oh oh okay. Okay.
- 43:59Also, like, I think it's interesting because it cuts to
- 44:01the room with the killbots who are these guys in lab coats.
- 44:05They are the people monitoring. The killbots very, very well
- 44:10text. Yeah.
- 44:11Why do you think to be in lab coat?
- 44:12I know, I mean, it gives you a very official look but like why
- 44:15they're also both just doing whatever.
- 44:17Like, even with the guy who brings out the the mag, you
- 44:20know, it's like I've never felt the urge at work to just start
- 44:23looking at. Yeah, I know, you know, we were
- 44:27watching it last night like you can't So you're off work to do
- 44:32that, you got a problem if that's the case.
- 44:34Well, in the weird part about it is that when the second guy
- 44:37comes in, it was implied that they were meant to be working
- 44:40together, because he was looking around for the other guy.
- 44:43Probably. Look at it together.
- 44:45Make a good point. People who did that?
- 45:00Never I've never done. Okay.
- 45:07Alright okay, we see three guys at the furniture store, their
- 45:17squabbling about the party in that store that night nerdy 40
- 45:20doesn't want to let his uncle down and also he's got to find
- 45:23the fuchsia. But Mike says fuck the fuchsia
- 45:27is Friday. Come true, come true, come true,
- 45:31come to, yes. Oh my God sighs, so ridiculous
- 45:34with a gum. Okay.
- 45:36So this common every single scene and it's very thoroughly
- 45:39confirmed, but that's a weird piece of trivia because duh
- 45:42obviously he's doing that. He reminded me so much of
- 45:46Freakazoid, if you all, remember that.
- 45:47Yeah. Oh my God.
- 45:49Oh my God. Smile.
- 45:50Super obnoxious hair? Yeah, I'm gonna say something
- 45:54probably gross. Oh, there's a scene where I
- 45:58believe he tries to Go down and she's like, I do not allow that.
- 46:04And if this dude is chewing gum constantly, I would also know.
- 46:14That's why she didn't want him. Do ya.
- 46:16He's always trying to blow bubbles anywhere down there.
- 46:27Well, you don't want that either.
- 46:28That's a yeast infection, wait. Um, Dad waiting to happen for
- 46:31sure the hair tools just gonna get in the gum Hubba Bubba.
- 46:38Yeah. Hair in your gum.
- 46:40Yeah. Although State ESO.
- 46:44No I guess that means more because they say 80s shit now So
- 46:56anyway, there's a couple working on a track and the guy is the
- 47:02helpless and woman gets out, and she immediately gets it taken
- 47:06care of. And apparently, that's their
- 47:08Dynamic. Yeah.
- 47:09She can fix it the first time. Every time.
- 47:11This is also kind of playing into the whole weird thing of
- 47:13like, what's the age range of these people here?
- 47:15Because they're married. And yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 47:20And you were mentioning like the other two are like, asking for
- 47:22permission to stay that all. Yeah, Allison and her.
- 47:26Allison and Susie are calling her parents to like lie about
- 47:30going to each other's houses. Yeah, so like how old are these?
- 47:33People are these people like really creepy and hanging out
- 47:35with high schoolers and like I would say it's probably down.
- 47:38Yeah. Or is it like small town?
- 47:41You get married super young and you're still the same.
- 47:43Yeah, every way true that they're arguing about going to
- 47:46this party because she says that they haven't had any fun since
- 47:50they spent the wedding money on the business.
- 47:53What business? Apparently it's tune-ups.
- 47:56Later, it was a say I got feel like, it's got to be like a
- 47:58mechanic shop, which I do like something that this movie does,
- 48:02which it reverses. A lot of the gender roles
- 48:04because she's the one that's clearly the mechanic and their
- 48:07relationship and it's the girls that come up with different
- 48:10plans to get the killbots and the guys are mostly like running
- 48:13away and climbing on furniture, guys.
- 48:15Do the guy things like let's go get guns motion.
- 48:17Yeah own success. Like the exaggerated way of
- 48:21presenting, I guess the two genders but then yeah, they do
- 48:24that swab. I didn't I didn't even think of
- 48:26that. That you didn't mean that kind
- 48:27of put it out with he had the idea to drive that thing into
- 48:33the killed by and killed come on.
- 48:36None of the girls hosting at two miles, an hour.
- 48:44So Allison's parents are like, very chill.
- 48:48They're like, yes, please get out of the house.
- 48:49Yeah. God, we are sick of you.
- 48:54So she's still nervous about A blind day and Susie's like no,
- 48:59he's got a great personality. That's not what you want to
- 49:03hear. No.
- 49:06So we see the other lab coat guy.
- 49:10Yeah. The other lab coat.
- 49:11Guy comes in the first lab coat guy, his body's gone.
- 49:14Yeah, what is it? Yeah.
- 49:17Yeah. They need to kill him for.
- 49:20This is what I mean about their. A, I being crazy because they
- 49:23are smart enough to know to hide a body.
- 49:26Yeah, and like even later like whenever Mikey I keep going to
- 49:29Mikey, not once a day, any of them call him.
- 49:32Mikey find Michael, like they, he's propped up against don't
- 49:35call on Michael either. You just Mike mostly they call
- 49:38them Brennan. She says, Michael because you
- 49:41did the Michael thing that you always do.
- 49:43Anytime somebody says Michael, yeah, did like to think about
- 49:48what it looked like when the robots use their little claw
- 49:51hands to try to carry people, maybe, you know, on the side the
- 49:56And say, you know what, they're going to also be out there at
- 49:58night, they may as well clean up.
- 50:00So they have a giant vacuum in the center of the wheels.
- 50:03You know, suck bodies into mmm and turn into, you know, biofuel
- 50:08this is just we don't see in the movie but it is Canon.
- 50:11It's I prefer to think that the killbots are already in Predator
- 50:17mode and they don't want to alert their prey, so they remove
- 50:21any signs of a previous. It is so like what happened is
- 50:25like, They like the lightning strikes, the building their,
- 50:28right and it hits the box that's on top of the building but like
- 50:32how does that translate to the robots being electricity?
- 50:37Yeah they're not anything. They had Wi-Fi before anyone
- 50:43else Wi-Fi an electrician again goes back to like why is there a
- 50:49kill option on those robots? Yeah, so anyway, this new
- 50:54security guard also dies. Mmm.
- 50:56So it's just God through the neck, right?
- 51:00And that man got paid $600, I can't believe you only took $600
- 51:03for that. I will say that I expected him
- 51:07to die like an alien. You know like I was waiting for
- 51:10his chest to get blown out. I got alarm never been fun.
- 51:13That would have been amazing instead of just like zaps as
- 51:16back as a gap. Now we cut back to the furniture
- 51:21store. The party is in full swing and
- 51:24they're dancing to Aiken, Barbara, Crampton, stance moves,
- 51:28by the way, are so wild. She is wearing a lace bodysuit.
- 51:35Those are the kind of dance moves that go with that Travis I
- 51:40can't answer. She's wearing lace with lace on
- 51:44top and then a vest over top lace and Lace on this.
- 51:47Yeah. No.
- 51:47Vest on lace on lace. When someone order you look at
- 51:51it in a place which is on Barbara.
- 51:58I'm Babs. She is the only one actually
- 52:02trying to dance though. Slater, they're all dancing in
- 52:04that furniture store. Where did ya right from?
- 52:07Yeah, she's the only one that's like actually going hard on the
- 52:09day of the rest of the couples are just making out hardcore.
- 52:11Well, that's how you know that she's going to be the flail, a
- 52:14sex tape which turns out to be true.
- 52:20So Ferdie is like, I need to catch up a bit but Katie guys, I
- 52:24haven't heard, I've got glasses. But that he's spitting this in
- 52:28his feces Allison. Hi, hi.
- 52:32I hate how many times I take his glasses off because they're like
- 52:36little go look at, go look at Allison and I take his glasses.
- 52:38I was like, I can't see he likes her without his glasses on.
- 52:44He put his glasses on, doesn't it?
- 52:45Guys, she doesn't look the same Allison's here, and this is also
- 52:51insane. Yes it is.
- 52:53That's just like how Carrie 80s. Okay, the killbots are out
- 53:01they've got their nice theme song playing there in battle
- 53:04mode. I like how they just rolled by
- 53:06the store and see them partying and like looks over there
- 53:08something keep going. Yeah.
- 53:10Okay. Like it's not midnight yet.
- 53:12We're gonna kill the party. Where's where's the janitor?
- 53:15Doing a thankless job and being made fun of by the other
- 53:18janitors? Exactly.
- 53:22So everybody's paired off and doing their thing, except for
- 53:25Alice, and I'm pretty, they're watching attack of the Crab
- 53:28Monsters and Allison's, the one that makes the move.
- 53:32Yeah, true. Nice shot.
- 53:35Now we get your to, to stick fillers.
- 53:39He's mopping up, we were guessing either vomit or food.
- 53:43It looks like vomit after you've had Pepto-Bismol and it didn't
- 53:48work. Yeah, he's very upset.
- 53:52And I don't blame him, I don't blame.
- 53:54You is clearly supposed to be off, work 45 minutes ago and you
- 53:58mentioned like the other two janitors are walking by giving
- 54:01him a shit and they're drinking beer.
- 54:02Yeah, they're like really good the way he's mopping.
- 54:09I thought like was really useless because it looks like
- 54:13he's mopping. The floor with spreading.
- 54:14And yeah, Yeah, the robot was really just trying to get rid of
- 54:25him because he's like, you have no papers here.
- 54:27You sure you work here. Oh my God, on a school trip.
- 54:30One time in high school, we stopped at Beaver Dam rest dog
- 54:36which had an Arby's on it and my friend knocked over his large
- 54:41drink and our band director just kind of like side and the kid
- 54:45behind the counter just kind of side and then went to get them
- 54:48off my kid. Honey comes out there and he's
- 54:51mopping it It and my friend gets up to go, throw away the rest of
- 54:54his food to think knocked over the place.
- 55:00Go get on the bus, okay?
- 55:12But yeah, he gets, he is fighting the robot, he's yelling
- 55:17at it. He's a, he's the grown-up
- 55:19version of cousin Ricky, you know, when he's yelling at Older
- 55:22kids, learn Adam. Yeah.
- 55:24Dick Miller is Ricky all grown up yelling at this robot and
- 55:27then he like kind of flips his badge at him, not long enough
- 55:32for this robots to read it and so the robot shoots the taser
- 55:35into the puddle. I think it's funny because it's
- 55:38like you said Eric before. It looks like it just missed
- 55:41like terribly. Yeah.
- 55:45They're just like, shocks on the do.
- 55:47Yeah. It definitely did that on
- 55:48purpose. It was an asshole from the
- 55:49start. Yeah.
- 55:53So Leslie says she needs some smokes and he's like, oh well,
- 55:56there's what it was like. Marble Rose or something camera.
- 56:00The rest of ya rijal lights. Yeah.
- 56:02She's like, I only smoke of Virgin lights is like, well, we
- 56:05don't have any. She goes, there's some in the
- 56:07machine down the hall. He's like, you expect me to go,
- 56:09get you some, she said, yeah, and it worked first.
- 56:14Yeah. But first peroneus pepperoni.
- 56:22Make it worth your while she wanted to make sure that he was
- 56:24agreeing to it first. Okay.
- 56:26She was keeping control of the situation.
- 56:27She was for sure, for sure what a time that you could just go
- 56:31buy cigarettes from like a vending machine.
- 56:33Yeah. Right.
- 56:33Such a snapshot in time because they're drinking beer in the
- 56:36mall to and I don't know if you could do that now.
- 56:38Right? No smoking in the in the mall.
- 56:40Definitely. No.
- 56:41Smoking. I don't know if employees have
- 56:43After parties, they probably do in the mall, so break rooms.
- 56:47Probably. Yeah.
- 56:49So I was getting my hair done yesterday and Travis.
- 56:51At me food because it is taking a while because I had to bleach
- 56:56and then color. And so you brought me food and
- 56:59when I was done, I threw it away.
- 57:01And there were two empty bottles of Miller Lite boy and I was
- 57:06like Liz, I don't want to judge anybody's life around here and
- 57:09she goes, oh yeah, that was one of our clients husband know.
- 57:12He was like waiting for her last.
- 57:17I just went out to his car, grabbed a couple Miller Lites
- 57:19and he's like trying to offer him to other people.
- 57:21That's how you You just keep white board and Millwrights in
- 57:25your car. In case had he run to the store
- 57:30where these hot like who drinks hot Miller Lite beer on the
- 57:35other end? I will I will say that how
- 57:37supportive of him to at least be like yeah I guess I'm gonna go
- 57:39hang out with my wife and, you know, drink a little bit while
- 57:42she chills in the because I have heard of people doing like when
- 57:50they get their nails done, the salon will give them like wine
- 57:53or beer but I haven't heard it for a hair salon where it says
- 57:56choose to I've seen it. Yeah.
- 57:58Yeah. I feel like that would be
- 58:00ill-advised because that would make you bleed, more?
- 58:02Yeah, I thought you can't be drunk to get a tattoo.
- 58:05Yeah, the blood-thinning. You can be a little drunk.
- 58:08Yeah. That a little bit, right?
- 58:14Okay. So Leslie goes to look for him
- 58:17because he hasn't shown up. What we saw was he showed his
- 58:23badge to the killbot and the killbot didn't did not care.
- 58:27Didn't care. Yeah.
- 58:29Fuck this guy in his gum. Yeah.
- 58:31Like you have no hair on your chest that's us.
- 58:37He's answering random payphones. Yeah.
- 58:39Okay. It's like the guys like he's
- 58:42just asking if he has messages like Does he actually know this
- 58:44guy was this? Also the same where the the
- 58:49robot comes out the from the doors without using his hands.
- 58:51Like it was just kind of open. I think so ugly.
- 58:54Yeah, yeah. Bring that up.
- 58:57Just because I was like how do they open doors?
- 58:58Like later. We see the Asic more to do it
- 59:00but in this scene, it's the doors.
- 59:02Fly open that one part where like they're trying to bust in
- 59:06egg. It takes it like an hour or two
- 59:08to like cuddle. Oh yeah.
- 59:10Because they like have a like they hang out there and they
- 59:13have a breather. Some of them are even sweeping.
- 59:15Yeah, so Leslie when she goes to look for him.
- 59:19She finds him and his foot is moving, his foot moves like
- 59:25three or four times and I was like, come on, what's his name?
- 59:30John John. Turner lensky be a little bit
- 59:34calm in the moment. She's also acting like she
- 59:38cannot find him when his legs are very nice looking out behind
- 59:42the vending machine. Let me ask this leg, if it knows
- 59:48where Mike. So, once she finds that he's
- 59:52dead, she freaks out and she goes running, and then this is
- 59:55where the killbots like catcha, and it rolls on after her.
- 59:59And then shoots a laser at her head and explodes.
- 1:00:03It's one of the best sick sporting Heritage ever.
- 1:00:05Yeah, I love it. You know what?
- 1:00:07It makes me think of what Threat Level Midnight, Toby's heads.
- 1:00:16I wish they got like that many different angles.
- 1:00:28It also just got nowhere over it blasts right in front of the
- 1:00:31mall window, right? Yeah.
- 1:00:33All her friends can say is it's free and there's like a little
- 1:00:36bit of blood. It's like somebody took like a
- 1:00:38syrup bottle and just drizzled it.
- 1:00:40It was a very efficient explosion, it was more of an
- 1:00:43evaporation than anything. Yeah, true.
- 1:00:45Yeah. Like what is called?
- 1:00:48Osmos a autoerotic combustion know.
- 1:00:52The word, erotic side of called, heads are exploding spontaneous
- 1:01:12combustion. Yeah, that what you might have
- 1:01:16been thinking of like, autonomous and spontaneous and
- 1:01:19not the tube. So the other two protectors come
- 1:01:27online and they say they're gonna go assist, they need to
- 1:01:30detain The Intruders and that's when they enter the store and
- 1:01:34they start shooting lasers at everyone and Furnitures
- 1:01:37exploding. These lasers are very powerful.
- 1:01:41Yeah. Well they're the pink lasers.
- 1:01:44It's true. Once you want to look out for
- 1:01:47well, they were hoping I'd like stun one or two of them, you
- 1:01:49know there's some gray. Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:01:52I didn't know if there was like anything else other than blue,
- 1:01:55Jesse doesn't know. She Jesse can't see green?
- 1:01:58She's like, green brown color border.
- 1:02:02She can see green or what? She thinks is green.
- 1:02:05Okay? Get it's a guessing game.
- 1:02:10Yeah, pretty much. So, this is when the door is
- 1:02:14locked by because I got to know. So, the chase into the back room
- 1:02:16and then now, the doors lock at 12.
- 1:02:18Yeah. And so we see We they hear the
- 1:02:21steel doors closing throughout they try to make a phone call.
- 1:02:24Now the phones are dead. Okay, okay.
- 1:02:27My tracks together, they're like cool.
- 1:02:31Let's take the air duct to the parking lot.
- 1:02:34Not the worst plan. Hmm.
- 1:02:38The girls managed to our get in the deck, by that point, the
- 1:02:41killbots have blown a hole in the door.
- 1:02:45And the boys managed to run around them, which makes me feel
- 1:02:48like the killbots were not very well prepared.
- 1:02:50Like they were excited to blow the door open and they didn't
- 1:02:54have a plan for after that. Yeah, again though, they have
- 1:02:58C4. Why do you need it to blow up
- 1:03:03door? It's weird.
- 1:03:07So the girls start climbing through the ducts and they're
- 1:03:09like so much for air conditioning and they're like,
- 1:03:12well they turned on the heat because they know we're up here,
- 1:03:15which feels like we don't see the I love the thought that the
- 1:03:19killbots are controlling the security system in the hall, but
- 1:03:22we don't see any evidence of that.
- 1:03:25No, no, I think this was the writer is trying to be like,
- 1:03:28crap. We need a reason for why?
- 1:03:30They don't make it. Yeah, let's just say they turned
- 1:03:33on the heat. Yeah, it would have been
- 1:03:35different to fly. Like, you know, going back to
- 1:03:37the computer scene, where the pots are in that room, that
- 1:03:39like, the control center was really, like, the Mastermind
- 1:03:41behind the security system, and the Bots were just getting.
- 1:03:45So, like the computer would have made sense if it was like, yeah,
- 1:03:47it's been hacked and it's like Ai and that's why everything's
- 1:03:50kind of Shifting around. It's got, you know, we don't
- 1:03:52even get like camera view. We're like, we're robots, are
- 1:03:55looking at the cams to see where they're running, or even to go
- 1:03:58back to your comparison, to the 2019.
- 1:04:00Child's Play remake, like the killbots can hack into the
- 1:04:04system that way. Like they're they're connected
- 1:04:06and they And through watch all it that way.
- 1:04:10They are the original Bluetooth that's why it is exactly.
- 1:04:14So the girls start freaking out because it's hot.
- 1:04:18Susie is worried about Greg. She's like, Greg needs me.
- 1:04:22Greg is not at all concerned about Leslie.
- 1:04:25No, I'm just like she died for this man who liked was probably
- 1:04:29going to break up with her next week.
- 1:04:32The boys are like, let's go to the sporting store and Freddy
- 1:04:35was like guys are really Don't play basketball right now.
- 1:04:41It's interesting that they have so many guns in the store.
- 1:04:43Yeah, I'm all this know how to use them.
- 1:04:46Yes, it's like fucking shotguns and M16s like this is military
- 1:04:50grade shit here. Well, we get the Montage of
- 1:04:53them, loading them and like he knows exactly what to do.
- 1:04:56Yeah. You know, especially even
- 1:04:57ferdy's gotta fucking Revolver. They didn't have to break any
- 1:05:02counters or anything. All the shit's just out in the
- 1:05:04open. Yeah, you just you just test
- 1:05:06that stuff at the store there if you wanted to.
- 1:05:08Yeah, I did not realize this movie took In the South.
- 1:05:13It could have been Indiana. Indiana like that.
- 1:05:17Yeah, I think if you go into a Walmart, Walmart, Walmart,
- 1:05:20Indiana. They're pretty much out in the
- 1:05:22open like this. Yeah, they are is right there.
- 1:05:24Ready to grow. We could go to Walmart right
- 1:05:26down the road right now and let me now get our.
- 1:05:29Our mall has like probably this to never once been to ours, put
- 1:05:35any of the sporting good stores in the mall there, they also
- 1:05:39have putt-putt golf. Yeah, you can touch.
- 1:05:44You can test like the little golf clubs.
- 1:05:46I thought you meant like the indoor like mini golf courses
- 1:05:50where they do the backlight golf.
- 1:05:52You can make it if you want to in all seriousness though.
- 1:05:57Like a gun store in a mall, doesn't really sound like the
- 1:05:58best idea. I'm sure they are.
- 1:06:01Well that's so saying like just the thought of putting one in
- 1:06:03there and 2023. That's a terrifying thought.
- 1:06:08Yeah, another one that I thought was funny.
- 1:06:10Is when, you know, because 30 is the only one who doesn't get a
- 1:06:13giant gun, they give him a little revolver and then the gas
- 1:06:16tank and I think it's, I can remember who it was, but they
- 1:06:19turned to look at him and he's there, like, you know, how to
- 1:06:20use that thing and he that's joke baby.
- 1:06:23I was like, yeah, he pulls up the gas tank.
- 1:06:24Is like I know how to use this. I don't know about this other
- 1:06:26thing though. Well, and they end up making it
- 1:06:32work because the killbot comes at them and they're shooting at
- 1:06:34it, and then they're like, you know, what better idea they
- 1:06:37throw the tank at it, shoot the tank cause an explosion.
- 1:06:40How does this? Not kill the killbot, it just
- 1:06:42knocks it over. It tips.
- 1:06:43The don't ya. It's all it does, it wasn't a
- 1:06:45pink explosion, they're made out of like adamantium or something.
- 1:06:50Because all the time either by this point, the girls have
- 1:06:55completely turned around and crawled out of the air.
- 1:06:58Ducts that way. Susie can go protect Greg.
- 1:07:01They go to the paint store which also has flare guns.
- 1:07:07Oh, wherever they're like, observing the robot, though.
- 1:07:10After It like exploded. Like the guys are standing over
- 1:07:13and what if it's like? What's that in the other guys?
- 1:07:15Like robot blood but what was it really?
- 1:07:20Yeah, they ended up creating like Kind of Molotov cocktails
- 1:07:31but they're just keep them straight up in the gas canisters
- 1:07:34and the paint thinner canisters whatever and they throw them at
- 1:07:38the killbots the girls do because they're going to pretend
- 1:07:41protect the boys the killbots still aren't stopping and in
- 1:07:45fact killbot to shoot Susie in the leg and sensor on fire and
- 1:07:52everybody stares nobody there like we got a helper on nobody's
- 1:07:57just doing anything. I'm buddy.
- 1:08:00Yeah, I think they start jumping in front to shoot out the
- 1:08:05killbot. Susie could still very much be
- 1:08:08alive. I know.
- 1:08:10Yeah, but of just put her out of her misery or something - yeah.
- 1:08:14It's on fire when they walked away.
- 1:08:17They look, it's too late to help her now.
- 1:08:18Yeah. I still think the kielbasa ran
- 1:08:22her over. I think right before this scene
- 1:08:26though, Allison picks up. Are yes.
- 1:08:30Steps in her bra. Yeah.
- 1:08:31And I brought that would not stay in your bra entire life
- 1:08:34away that she's running around. Yeah.
- 1:08:37It would definitely like wiggle down fall out through the bottom
- 1:08:40of your shirt. Absolutely.
- 1:08:44And at the way she seems to like forget about it and then.
- 1:08:47Yeah, and very conveniently. Remember, you don't forget that
- 1:08:51you've got something like that. No, could have used it right
- 1:08:54there to save the Travis. It's got to be safe for the
- 1:08:58finale. Lie like a foot and a half stick
- 1:09:02to yeah sure whole torso. Yeah.
- 1:09:07So the remaining group members go running Rick sets some tanks
- 1:09:14on top of the elevators and they bait one of the killbots into
- 1:09:19the elevator. This is also when like when
- 1:09:21they're getting a set up to is like they're trying to like do
- 1:09:24that weird thing. Like all right.
- 1:09:26So what do I owe you for the beer is?
- 1:09:28Don't worry. About it.
- 1:09:29Just get me a six-pack. Yes, he like chance.
- 1:09:32Just do. We worry about it or not?
- 1:09:34They don't know. I just want to make it out of
- 1:09:36here. Give me a six-pack.
- 1:09:39Yeah. So many hon.
- 1:09:40Quotable quotable lines. I do like because this is also
- 1:09:45when the little kill the little killbot look cute little cold
- 1:09:48out Phil but yeah. Any time that they have to use
- 1:09:52technology, the little robots. They the one that uses the
- 1:09:55escalators, like, you know, booking it to catch them and
- 1:09:58then you get something Escalator.
- 1:09:59He's just waiting to get to the top and then he uses one shot
- 1:10:02again. I think it just liked running
- 1:10:04like going up and down the escalator.
- 1:10:08Yeah, that one didn't really want to kill people is just
- 1:10:09falling disorders. Just having fun.
- 1:10:11Is that the what was the personality except for that one?
- 1:10:14That's number two. Then yeah.
- 1:10:18So he Rick has this really cool jump from the top of the
- 1:10:22elevator over to the walkway and they blow up the elevator And it
- 1:10:27seems to have actually killed this killbot.
- 1:10:29Yeah. So they're hiding at a store,
- 1:10:34Linda is doing some math. She said, they assume it's an
- 1:10:40approximately two million dollars worth of damage so far.
- 1:10:43It'll take about 80 years to pay them back and Travis.
- 1:10:47And I immediately said, oh, why would you be paying this back?
- 1:10:51Most of the damage is from the killbots.
- 1:10:53Hey, you're gonna probably Sue and get I would definitely Sue.
- 1:10:58Also what a teenage thing to do when you're like running for
- 1:11:01your life but also like damn, my parents would be pissed and see
- 1:11:03how this money Linda's. The married one that might be
- 1:11:07like the creep hanging out with the high schooler's highest.
- 1:11:10Yeah. My husband's gonna be mad at me
- 1:11:13when I get out, starts blaming the other girls for climbing out
- 1:11:23of the air duct. Why did you guys leave?
- 1:11:25And she was like, she wanted to Protect you and he goes dumb.
- 1:11:29Yeah, they secretly hated her though.
- 1:11:33Because, I mean, they didn't help her.
- 1:11:34Like, he doesn't even know what went down there.
- 1:11:37He didn't see that part. Yeah, she loved him way more
- 1:11:41than he loved her. Yeah, So break up this way, he
- 1:11:46called her pepperoni, but those are safe word.
- 1:11:54So their new planets are going to go down and shut down the
- 1:11:57master computer except killbots one, and three.
- 1:12:01Come in saying that they're going to detain The Intruders.
- 1:12:06Now, the group has gotten to a store on Level 3 and hidden
- 1:12:11behind a steel door. And this is where the killbots
- 1:12:13take. A million years to cut down the
- 1:12:16door. Hey, awesome killed.
- 1:12:18Greg in the process because he go like yeah, off of the.
- 1:12:22Yeah. But yeah it takes them like I'm
- 1:12:26I honestly think like a couple of hours to burn down.
- 1:12:30Yeah. Nothing there.
- 1:12:30I put the way they must have used up all of their c4l ready.
- 1:12:33Yeah. They only had that one.
- 1:12:35Yeah, I wonder what they're running on running off of like,
- 1:12:39is it gasps? Because the motor sounds when
- 1:12:41they're running, makes me think they are running off of gas.
- 1:12:43So they have to like Run out of power eventually, right?
- 1:12:46I live in. So, yeah, I would love to see
- 1:12:48them with just, like, comically long extension cords.
- 1:12:54They decide that they're gonna give the killbots some target
- 1:12:57practice and ends up short-circuiting.
- 1:13:00Hits Linda. So Rick runs in on his little
- 1:13:03machine really. Actually, she hits a mirror and
- 1:13:07it backfires and hits it starts going haywire and he's like,
- 1:13:10this is my chance. I've been wanting to do this for
- 1:13:12a really long time. I've they wanting to drive this
- 1:13:15thing. It's on in Just 2 miles per
- 1:13:18hour. Boom, yeah.
- 1:13:20Right into it. It dies, he dies don't know what
- 1:13:24the fuck happened. So now we're just down to just
- 1:13:28Verde and Allison. They split up a killbot Corners
- 1:13:32Allison. So, 40 runs back to her shoots
- 1:13:37at. It causes a laser malfunction
- 1:13:40and now the killbot is chasing him.
- 1:13:45And they're like fighting a little bit back and forth and
- 1:13:47then the killed by just throws a fire extinguisher.
- 1:13:50Yeah, it's a size. That's enough to kill him.
- 1:13:54He's like this guy. Yeah, he sure is nerd.
- 1:13:59Another person. I feel like the kabocha ran
- 1:14:01over. That one, definitely, yes.
- 1:14:05Is around his head over more head trauma.
- 1:14:08I don't understand why they split up in the first place.
- 1:14:12I don't either like she she suggested it.
- 1:14:14At the beginning and they all told her she was stupid for
- 1:14:16suggesting it. And then now that it's just her
- 1:14:19and Ferdie ferdy's not going to have a backbone, say, no.
- 1:14:22So, absolutely, yeah. It's too hard.
- 1:14:24Yeah. Allison runs to a pet shop.
- 1:14:29This is Rogers, little pet, but a little shop with pets.
- 1:14:32Why are the puppies left in there alone overnight?
- 1:14:36They're all tiny little puppies. I'm not good.
- 1:14:40I'm distraught. Yeah, that's bad.
- 1:14:42Not good for anyone because then the person that comes in in the
- 1:14:44morning, Learning is going to have a horrible time clean.
- 1:14:46It's gonna smell awful and there's a spiders all over the
- 1:14:49place and snakes its walls. Its don't forget scorpion.
- 1:14:54Yes, a couple things though, the animals like immediately, go to
- 1:14:57her which I don't know what have happened because I think like a
- 1:15:00snake would probably be like I'm out of here and then the
- 1:15:02Tarantulas like maybe but there's a story I think the
- 1:15:06trenchless were afraid. They were going to get squished
- 1:15:08by the robot and human person pretty There's a mall with us
- 1:15:16over by us, that has like a dog store, but I've always wanted
- 1:15:21the same thing. Like what does it do with the
- 1:15:22dogs at night? I hope it's like shelters where
- 1:15:26they have someone coming in the evening.
- 1:15:28Yeah, hmm. I would think so.
- 1:15:31I would hope so, I would hope. So, it's sad to think about
- 1:15:35those puppies are gonna be reactive when they're older.
- 1:15:37They're actually the puppies from trapped trapped trapped was
- 1:15:42the one with the killer dogs in a mall, wasn't it?
- 1:15:44Or is that Ugh. Oh, I don't know which one it
- 1:15:48was. That's got to be traps.
- 1:15:50That guy wasn't about robots, right?
- 1:15:52Oh yeah. You're right then.
- 1:15:54Okay. At least, this isn't the one I
- 1:15:56proposed up though. Yeah.
- 1:15:58If so, she, she jumps down to the first floor she lands on
- 1:16:03like a boo thing. I don't think that would work in
- 1:16:05real life, but it's maybe a logic.
- 1:16:07So, it's fine. She crawls out a little bit.
- 1:16:11She pulls the flare out busting to the paint store.
- 1:16:14This is when the music goes wild.
- 1:16:16Yeah. Like yeah, I like this.
- 1:16:19We've got Allison's theme but it's like done in the same style
- 1:16:22as the robot theme. Now like they changed the
- 1:16:24synthesizer setting. It went from harpsichord back to
- 1:16:30drum so she spills a bunch of paint on the floor and a bunch
- 1:16:36of paint thinner. Seems counterintuitive.
- 1:16:39That's fine. Yeah, when the killbot comes in
- 1:16:44it like It's like it. Hit the banana peel.
- 1:16:53The boat's like spinning wildly with it.
- 1:16:54Yeah, okay. I thought that was so hilarious
- 1:16:57and she gets her, like, big Action Hero moment.
- 1:17:01She said, hey, have a nice day and she throws the flare and she
- 1:17:07walks away from the explosion. And then first, I got toilet
- 1:17:11paper. I actually shit myself.
- 1:17:18And they hug it out bitch. Yep, it just makes me think of
- 1:17:25the talk, where it's like, shut up, shut up.
- 1:17:28Shut the fuck up. I'm so fucking scared right now.
- 1:17:33Oh man, after talking about it, do you want to change your score
- 1:17:37any? Fuck.
- 1:17:39I'm bumping it up to a nine. Okay, I'll keep in mind at 9:00.
- 1:17:44I think I'm going to eat on it. I've got to stay at an eight.
- 1:17:47Okay, okay, okay, so 8.5. Yes.
- 1:17:50All right, that's better. That's appropriate.
- 1:17:55Talia was she was very sleepy last night.
- 1:17:58It had been a very long stressful day, but she was
- 1:18:01having very active dreams during all this.
- 1:18:05So I think Talia was also going to give it an eight.
- 1:18:10She's one of the few people that actually found this movie scary.
- 1:18:12Yeah, she's like, She doesn't trust robots.
- 1:18:15You know how she feels about our Roomba?
- 1:18:17That's what this could be. Have you ever seen the love
- 1:18:23death robots on Netflix. No, now there's an episode with
- 1:18:27a cleaning bar that has a kill switch for some reason and
- 1:18:31starts like killing everything in sight, and there's like a,
- 1:18:33dog in a lady. So, you know, keep that away
- 1:18:36from Talia. Keep that away from me, Zoe.
- 1:18:44She, she was very into like, the brakes.
- 1:18:47So, like, at the first break, she's like, okay, I'm going to
- 1:18:48come hang out on the couch so I can break.
- 1:18:50She went to the dog bed, like she's back and forth but she did
- 1:18:52watch the whole movie with us. Lots of explosions.
- 1:18:55It's was always bigger than who did everybody relate to, hmm.
- 1:19:04I I relate to Greg because I also like pepperoni.
- 1:19:10I can't tell if which one I wish you guys could have seen the
- 1:19:16look. He had in his eyes as he said.
- 1:19:21I could see it in my head I could feel it.
- 1:19:23I something like true with the gum in your throat.
- 1:19:29Yeah. Or are, who was it?
- 1:19:33Who said The autoerotic hesitantly.
- 1:19:35Yeah yeah I relate to that because whenever I get turned on
- 1:19:41brownie whatever I get pepperoni.
- 1:19:44Yeah let's see. I think I probably I probably
- 1:19:52relate to lets her face. What was her name?
- 1:19:58The one that's worried about the cost of all the damages?
- 1:20:01I don't think I would be worried about.
- 1:20:04I wouldn't be worried about paying it back, but I would be
- 1:20:06sitting there trying to calculate the cost of yeah, I
- 1:20:09could see to distract myself. I'd be like let's do the math on
- 1:20:12this. What is her fucking name?
- 1:20:17I think it's Linda. It is Linda.
- 1:20:18Okay, okay. I Relate to the snobby, couple
- 1:20:24making fun of the training video.
- 1:20:26That's a good one too. Yeah, I really ought to kill
- 1:20:30about to because I would probably also dine elevator, not
- 1:20:38really, actually succeeding at killing.
- 1:20:40Anyone? Just kind of slipping on things.
- 1:20:43This imagining having fun. Get on an elevator, you get
- 1:20:45excited, like your body. And then you get off just sad,
- 1:20:57okay? Dreams sequel.
- 1:20:59What is chopping Bob's? You look like?
- 1:21:05Let's do what's called killbots and have like a bunch of like
- 1:21:08people chopping people up. You know what I want?
- 1:21:10I wanted to be called kilobots and I went all of the
- 1:21:12suggestions Eric made earlier. Yes, you got people on fire and
- 1:21:19getting ran over. You got autoerotic getting run
- 1:21:23over. They made the Big Daddy's like
- 1:21:43big sisters and so they made like the big daddy sexy
- 1:21:45basically. Oh yeah.
- 1:21:46So we're going to have you know, the robots are going to be like
- 1:21:49sexy robots with. They're still going to have the
- 1:21:51same abilities except this time they're going to have chainsaws
- 1:21:54so they could actually fill out to their shopping.
- 1:21:57That was kind of like what Joe Bob was talking about on the
- 1:22:00thing where he leads off talking about like the sex robots.
- 1:22:04Like what if it's the sex robots that Bad this time.
- 1:22:07Oh, Henry. And interesting.
- 1:22:11They bring pepperoni into the man.
- 1:22:12Yeah. I'm not a, I don't feel like
- 1:22:17I've thought this far ahead on writings, but I would definitely
- 1:22:20like to see Allison's character come back.
- 1:22:23Yeah, duh. Yeah, she would totally be down
- 1:22:26for that too. I guarantee you and do it now
- 1:22:29like the like they've done with every other movie where she's
- 1:22:30just a gold. Oh yeah malls, are dying out
- 1:22:33now. Oh my God.
- 1:22:37And there's Wi-Fi and she's actually like a you know, what's
- 1:22:43called a coating and DeNiro. Fuck yeah.
- 1:22:46I'm here engineer. Maybe we have.
- 1:22:49Maybe we have some kind of like anti-capitalist message and
- 1:22:52instead of like supporting a big like corporate mall.
- 1:22:55It's like a local shop. Type place looking local market.
- 1:22:59Local sex store. Yeah.
- 1:23:02Your friendly neighborhood story.
- 1:23:04Yeah. And then the robots are
- 1:23:06manufacturing like her friends. So her friends come back as
- 1:23:09robots. That'd be interesting.
- 1:23:12I want to before you do the review, we got to do the tag on
- 1:23:16what was the tagline that thing that you said before, that would
- 1:23:18have made a good tagline. Oh I got it.
- 1:23:22I don't know something about them all Just remember I'll be
- 1:23:27back in a minute. Yeah.
- 1:23:28When you're editing. Yeah.
- 1:23:30That was just a copy it and then put this audio right here.
- 1:23:36Yeah. Okay.
- 1:23:37How much did Park Plaza? Pay for the security system?
- 1:23:41Yeah, good tagline. Everybody gonna be okay.
- 1:23:47So I know mine in Travis's feelings on it and I took a
- 1:23:52swing that you guys would be generally positive about this.
- 1:23:54Movie as well. So I wanted to see what people,
- 1:23:57who didn't like the movie, why they didn't like it.
- 1:24:02I was kind of disheartened by some of the reviews because, you
- 1:24:06know, just like misogyny and whatnot was a big part of a big
- 1:24:10part of it, but I did try to find one that was like, talking
- 1:24:13more about like the logistics of things.
- 1:24:16Once you accept that the setup, and the apparent fact that
- 1:24:19there's no exit that can be opened, only from the inside,
- 1:24:22would it surprise you if I admit?
- 1:24:23I never could what you End up with is a cheap movie filled
- 1:24:26with unlikely details, including a mall gun shop in which they
- 1:24:29don't lock up the ammunition and a paint store.
- 1:24:31Where they also stock emergency flares, that is well shot and
- 1:24:35very well acted. The real tragedy of the post
- 1:24:39Studio era is that show business is full of people with all the
- 1:24:42technical skills to make good movies, actors directors,
- 1:24:45cameramen editors and more. What at mrs.
- 1:24:47Particularly in the cheaper Productions is riders with a
- 1:24:50sense of story. Logic, the essential logical
- 1:24:53flaws in this story though. Over powered robots and the
- 1:24:55actors inability to leave them all.
- 1:24:57Could have been dealt with via one line of dialogue.
- 1:25:00In a brief scene, showing them trying to leave and feeling
- 1:25:02perhaps existed in the script at some point, the Final Cut.
- 1:25:06However, thought it more important to show things, like
- 1:25:08the young women crawling through the roomy spotless.
- 1:25:10Well, a tear ducts, no one thought it necessary because it
- 1:25:13seems people who look at movies. Like this are all idiots.
- 1:25:17Perhaps if they didn't produce them like this, they would have
- 1:25:20larger audiences. That's kind of, it's a little
- 1:25:24safer at all. But like Eminem on see if they
- 1:25:27can survive. Just a regular Mall do get ran
- 1:25:31over I get lost in the mall sometimes and it's not even like
- 1:25:37locked up you know what I mean? Like where do I leave?
- 1:25:39How do I get out? I understand though, why people
- 1:25:42want to feel the stakes of the situation?
- 1:25:46They need to see these kids try to leave and not be able to
- 1:25:50leave. So I would they actually truly
- 1:25:52feel that they're stuck. Instead of just hearing them,
- 1:25:53say out the door, Is our shot somewhere and we definitely
- 1:25:56won't be able to get through them like I guess.
- 1:25:59So show don't tell thing can be more important for some people
- 1:26:02but yeah I was fine with the final product of it.
- 1:26:06Yeah, that was in the pond the other side of it you know like
- 1:26:08you end up on the side where you just add too many granular
- 1:26:11details that then make the movie, wait longer.
- 1:26:13And then it's like, well what do I need to show them doing all
- 1:26:15these little mundane things? For I've also heard a lot of
- 1:26:18reviews where people are like, we're not dumb audiences.
- 1:26:21Why are you over explaining things elevated?
- 1:26:23Yeah, This movie is exactly perfect at 77 minutes.
- 1:26:29It's got the exact right amount of details.
- 1:26:32Yeah, it's exactly what it needs to be.
- 1:26:33Yeah. The story was written in 24
- 1:26:35hours. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:26:38All right. Travis?
- 1:26:40What did listeners have to say about this movie?
- 1:26:44We got quite a bit so we'll start off with Michael Lee,
- 1:26:49Howard. He says, what an experience that
- 1:26:53was. I waited many years, Ears to
- 1:26:55watch this movie. What a perfect amount of 80s,
- 1:26:57Ridiculousness combined with robot sex and horror.
- 1:27:00This is perfect 80s. Cheese were I think this is a
- 1:27:02must see for any person claiming to be a whore.
- 1:27:04Fanatic, 8 often yeah. Good job man.
- 1:27:10Next up, we have Tiffany Jin. 1987 she says, the music is
- 1:27:14everything. Yes, she could to get the sheet
- 1:27:22and Feldman says, this is why I don't shop at malls.
- 1:27:24This is why I don't shop in Mars, robot Emoji but Emoji.
- 1:27:32But Emoji board Emoji. Porter, most important.
- 1:27:36Laughing crying Emoji, human flutter, robot blood.
- 1:27:42Um it's like a little bit of both.
- 1:27:44Okay. I like to think that in that

- 1:28:30which I hadn't seen until the last Drive in a great cast
- 1:28:32suffering completely absurd deaths.
- 1:28:34Quirky soundtrack. And the Nostalgia for a time
- 1:28:36when most Thrive, and you actually had to go interact with
- 1:28:39people in public for stuff. Okay, but now read it again in a

- 1:29:20I think by the time that I started going to malls, Cause it

- 1:29:26thriving like they were in this, when I lived in Clarksville the
- 1:29:30mall, had a merry-go-round inside of it, that sounds
- 1:29:34awesome. I was obsessed with it.
- 1:29:36My greatest memory of malls is as a kid.
- 1:29:38We used to go trick or treating because of the stores would give
- 1:29:40candy. Yeah.
- 1:29:44The sad part was the year where you realized they stopped doing
- 1:29:47it. You showed up costume?
