- 2:19It's a holiday weekend.
- 2:21It runs through Sunday, September 1st,
- 2:24and we will be at the Sheraton, Portland airport, who to?
- 2:29Very fancy.
- 2:30Very fancy and neat.
- 2:32The fanciest.
- 2:33The fanciest of fanciest.
- 2:35Yes.
- 2:36We're gonna be joined by some True Crime authors,
- 2:42other fellow podcasters.
- 2:45A few names that you might recognize from our very own feed,
- 2:51including Missing in the PNW.
- 2:54Oh, hey!
- 2:55Oh, hey!
- 2:56Murder in the rain.
- 2:58Hi!
- 2:59Hi, you!
- 3:00And actually, I don't think that we've had the pleasure of
- 3:04working with her yet, but...
- 3:07Mallory.
- 3:08Mallory, we love you.
- 3:11A hateful homicide.
- 3:13We love her actually at the con in Austin.
- 3:18Okay.
- 3:19Yeah.
- 3:20I'll have to refresh your memory later, because lovely.
- 3:24So, so lovely.
- 3:25Very, very sweet.
- 3:26I feel like I remember.
- 3:28Okay.
- 3:29I feel like I remember.
- 3:30Yeah.
- 3:31We just met so many people.
- 3:32So many people that day, and then so many other podcasters.
- 3:36It all starts to get like a little...
- 3:39My brain was...
- 3:40For a ride.
- 3:41Yes.
- 3:42Yeah, but I think it's a ride.
- 3:44Do you want to share the promo code?
- 3:46Oh, cool!
- 3:47I'm going to be a red in Austin.
- 3:48Yeah, be a red in Austin.
- 3:49Do you want to share the promo code so that if people want to get tickets?
- 3:54Yeah, I do.
- 3:56It is, I think,
- 3:58HONZ10.
- 3:59That is correct.
- 4:00HAUNTS10.
- 4:06Yes.
- 4:07promo code.
- 4:08You get 10% off?
- 4:09Yes, I get 10% off.
- 4:11Get your tickets now.
- 4:13Get your tickets.
- 4:15Info will be in the show notes.
- 4:18Can't wait to see all you creepy people there.
- 4:22We'll probably have mini tarot readings and a wheel.
- 4:26So we always do.
- 4:29Like if it unless something's changed that I'm not aware of.
- 4:32Yeah, we always do it.
- 4:34We might switch up how you become eligible for a miniature reading.
- 4:40But those are details.
- 4:44Just get your tickets and we'll talk about the rest later.
- 4:47Yeah.
- 4:48Don't read the fine print.
- 4:49Yeah.
- 4:50I'm in.
- 4:51Who's doing this?
- 4:52Those little guys.
- 4:53All right.
- 4:55Well, are you ready to hear about my story today?
- 5:01Probably not, but like we should probably just rip that band-aid off.
- 5:05You know?
- 5:06I mean, I hope you are because once again, I have changed my topic.
- 5:09At the very last minute.
- 5:11I was so excited when you texted me.
- 5:15It was like, ooh.
- 5:17Because my life is insane.
- 5:19And sometimes people ask me for last minute surprise proposal, photo shoots.
- 5:25And then I'm like, well, since I'm going to go on a journey anyway,
- 5:29I might just find some honoured shit in that town and talk about it.
- 5:32That's what I did.
- 5:34Yeah.
- 5:39Just write it off.
- 5:40Pod trip.
- 5:41Perfect.
- 5:42Text deductible.
- 5:43Has it turned out?
- 5:44Yeah.
- 5:45That's how you do life.
- 5:46Yeah.
- 5:47Life advice.
- 5:48So there is a place about an hour east of Portland, Oregon that originally belonged to the
- 5:53Cayuse, Umatilla, Walla Walla, Wasco, Wishram, Yakama, Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs,
- 6:02Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, and Confederated Tribes of
- 6:09Siletz Indians
- 6:11I got this from native-land.ca.
- 6:16Yeah.
- 6:17So you put in the town and then it gives you all of the list of tribes that used to live there.
- 6:25That's so cool.
- 6:26I know we've done that before.
- 6:28We've done that, I think, for where I live now.
- 6:31A few other places that we've talked about.
- 6:34I feel like this list is really long.
- 6:37Yeah.
- 6:38But even I was looking at the confederated tribes of all of the different three.
- 6:43And there's even more listed here, those because those are all grouped together.
- 6:49Yeah.
- 6:50So I was like, "Oh, this is a lot."
- 6:52But there was a lot of people around at that time.
- 6:55Yeah.
- 6:56But as we all know, in 1805, Lewis and Clark rolled through and started naming things on this
- 7:03little map.
- 7:04They were sort of put together.
- 7:07And they named a little river that was flowing into the Columbia.
- 7:12I don't know what the river was originally called, like what the Native Americans might have
- 7:17called it, but the saying about her.
- 7:21But they named this little river, "Labeasche River," after one of their translators Friends
- 7:28Francois Labiche.
- 7:29Oh, I know.
- 7:30Right.
- 7:31So fancy.
- 7:32Clearly.
- 7:33I think.
- 7:34Yeah, no, that's definitely a little strong.
- 7:38Fringe.
- 7:41That definitely sells frames.
- 7:43Fringe.
- 7:44Actually, I guess this dude, they named like two rivers after him because he was such a huge
- 7:49help translating with their trade and stuff.
- 7:53So he was kind of a big deal.
- 7:56Yeah.
- 7:57It's really interesting because I think there were a lot of French people that sort of landed
- 8:05in Canada and other parts of the Pacific Northwest that they started to kind of become interpreters
- 8:12with the natives because they actually learned the language and stuff.
- 8:17It's really interesting.
- 8:18You could really cost that.
- 8:19No, I don't want to cut that.
- 8:21That is super interesting.
- 8:22I love the tidbit.
- 8:24Also, I'm like, whoa, bro, crash alert.
- 8:27Because they named two rivers after him.
- 8:30Two whole-ass rivers.
- 8:32Two of them.
- 8:33Like why?
- 8:34When did they get confusing like which Labeasche river are you going to?
- 8:39Well, maybe they named the other one like the French ones.
- 8:43French river.
- 8:44I think it specifically said they named them both Labeasche.
- 8:48Oh, okay.
- 8:49Maybe they were in different parts of the country.
- 8:51But you know what?
- 8:52Honestly, it didn't really matter because I guess either no one really liked that name or they
- 8:58did.
- 9:03Maybe they couldn't pronounce it.
- 9:05So they just actually called it dog river for about 50 years.
- 9:10Labeasche.
- 9:11Oh my god.
- 9:12Is it because this is like lab or they're like it's like a lab dog.
- 9:17That's the only part they pronounce.
- 9:20I don't know.
- 9:21So they called it dog river.
- 9:25Because white people.
- 9:26Oh my gosh.
- 9:27But I feel like Labeasche.
- 9:29Come on.
- 9:30I know.
- 9:31I really like that.
- 9:32Me too.
- 9:33Can we just go back and name it Labeasche?
- 9:35Yeah.
- 9:36The town would be very different today.
- 9:38I bet.
- 9:39Because in 1854, Mary and Nathaniel Coe.
- 9:44Coe?
- 9:45It's COE.
- 9:46Okay.
- 9:47Move to the area.
- 9:49And Mary was just not having it with this dog river name.
- 9:55I mean, yeah.
- 9:57So she carried the shada of the situation and she had the name change to Hood River.
- 10:06Okay.
- 10:07And an unincorporated community developed until it was formally incorporated in 1895.
- 10:15Wow.
- 10:16Yes.
- 10:17Okay.
- 10:18So that's like, I mean, Hood River, you brand new.
- 10:21Yes.
- 10:22Can you imagine now if...
- 10:23So I assume she changed it to Hood because Hood Mount Hood and it's a river coming down from
- 10:28Mountain.
- 10:29So, you know, it makes sense.
- 10:30I see where she got there.
- 10:31Can you imagine if like the town of Hood River now was just dog river?
- 10:37Like, I mean...
- 10:40Or...
- 10:41Bitch River?
- 10:43Bitch River.
- 10:44Oh, nice one.
- 10:47Honestly, like...
- 10:50I don't know.
- 10:52Tag yourself.
- 10:53Like, I feel like I resemble that.
- 10:56So, I don't know.
- 10:58You resemble bitch river?
- 11:00Yeah, a little bit.
- 11:01Like a full-ass river of bitch.
- 11:03Yeah.
- 11:04Depends on what day you catch me.
- 11:06You know what?
- 11:07We just have to move into an unincorporated town, rename it, and then take it over and incorporate
- 11:13it.
- 11:14Is that all?
- 11:15Okay.
- 11:16Done.
- 11:17The Coe's?
- 11:24Coe Coe?
- 11:25Yeah, Coe.
- 11:26Why do I suck?
- 11:27You don't suck.
- 11:28Like, you don't want to get it wrong, so it feels like a lot of pressure.
- 11:31Like, it makes sense.
- 11:32It's the pressure.
- 11:34The Coe's were actually some of the first to plant fruit trees in the Hood River Valley.
- 11:40Thank God.
- 11:41Which is like a huge fruit for its fruit now.
- 11:44Yeah.
- 11:45There's an area called the fruit loop.
- 11:47So cute.
- 11:48I'm obsessed.
- 11:49I want to live in the fruit loop.
- 11:51We can go.
- 11:52We should go and like, you can go pick fruit.
- 11:54Yes.
- 11:55We're going to go.
- 11:56Yes.
- 11:57We're going.
- 11:58Hood River.
- 11:59We're coming for you.
- 12:00The town was known for its apples until a big freeze in 1919.
- 12:05So, I think I just like killed a bunch of the apple trees.
- 12:08Oh, no.
- 12:09But I guess pear trees ended up doing better.
- 12:13They're now known for their Anjou Pears.
- 12:16Oh.
- 12:17Do you know what an Anjou Pears is?
- 12:20Anjou.
- 12:21I don't know.
- 12:22Yeah, it's like kind of, yeah.
- 12:24Anjou but it's like fruit.
- 12:25I see again.
- 12:26Yeah.
- 12:27So that's almost like Anjou
- 12:30Anjou?
- 12:31Anjou?
- 12:32Like you're asking in question.
- 12:33Anjou.
- 12:34What do you do for you?
- 12:35Where were you?
- 12:36Anjou.
- 12:37Anjou.
- 12:38Anjou.
- 12:39Yeah.
- 12:40I want the pears.
- 12:42Oh, I love pears.
- 12:44Well, if you can believe it, there is some haunted stuff in this town too.
- 12:50It's just, it's not all about the pears.
- 12:52I don't believe it.
- 12:54No.
- 12:55I think it's all about the fruit.
- 12:57Sorry.
- 12:58I'm going to have to, I'm just going to have to switch gears from the fruit.
- 13:02We're going to move on to stuff that I like to talk about.
- 13:05There's still dancing pears in my head.
- 13:07It's all about the fruit for me.
- 13:09Pears in sheets.
- 13:12Like ghosts.
- 13:13Ghost pears.
- 13:15Well, okay.
- 13:20So when I last minute decided to change my topic again for like the 30,000,000 in this podcast,
- 13:30I knew I was on the right track though.
- 13:32When I came across this hotel, and they mentioned Franklin Damn Roosevelt stayed here.
- 13:38Oh, Goddamn it.
- 13:40Even though we recently talked about him not doing some great things in Caitlyn's episode.
- 13:50If you rise to that level of power, it's sort of a double-edged sword.
- 13:55Not to defend anything, right?
- 13:59Right.
- 14:00I mean, it's rough.
- 14:02It's rough.
- 14:03I will say that not going to defend concentration or internment camps just to be clear.
- 14:12But he keeps popping up in our pod and like we can't ignore the synchronicity.
- 14:18Like I just don't know why FDR like, why are you haunting us?
- 14:22Like, where is this?
- 14:24You know, I don't know.
- 14:26It's almost like he's just like, he's been everywhere all over the United States.
- 14:31Yeah, like he was the president of our whole nation.
- 14:34It's like he toured and like maybe like did like some sort of campaign or something.
- 14:38I don't know.
- 14:39It's weird.
- 14:40I don't know.
- 14:41I just keep hearing Mariah Carey.
- 14:42Seriously, you guys need to be obsessed with this.
- 14:52Clearly.
- 14:54Get a grived-done.
- 14:56But I can ignore it.
- 14:57Well, around the time of the old dog hood nameswap, the land that the present day, Columbia Gorge Hotel sits on,
- 15:07was the site of a lumber mill.
- 15:10And lumberjacks.
- 15:12The lumberjacks.
- 15:13Their friends in the pod too.
- 15:15And they actually made whiskey barrel staves, which is pretty cool.
- 15:22Okay, so same war.
- 15:24Yeah, that's all I know about it.
- 15:26I just thought that was cool, like little fun facts that they made like the most of the barrel.
- 15:30No, it is.
- 15:31That's so cool.
- 15:32Yeah.
- 15:33It seems like, is that the only thing they did at that lumber mill?
- 15:38Like how many whiskey barrels are people going through here in the Pacific Northwest?
- 15:42I mean a lot.
- 15:43Obviously.
- 15:44In 1904, the Wagwin-Win hotel was built.
- 15:50The cute name comes from a nearby 207-foot waterfall.
- 15:59Gorgeous.
- 16:00And when I say nearby, I had no--
- 16:05Did they build the hotel on top of it?
- 16:07They literally did.
- 16:08It's in the backyard of the fucking hotel.
- 16:12I had no idea you guys when I went and I was wandering the grounds and then I walked the back.
- 16:18I saw the sign that said, "Wagwin-Win falls and it just had like an arrow."
- 16:22But I was like, "If it was a hike, they would have like the mileage."
- 16:27Yeah, they would.
- 16:28This fucking waterfall has to be like right there.
- 16:32And I was right there.
- 16:33I got pictures.
- 16:35It was so cool.
- 16:36I'm so excited to see the pictures.
- 16:39I should just like air drop them to your mouth.
- 16:42Yeah, do that.
- 16:43Okay.
- 16:44Right.
- 16:50I wanted to stay the night, but I was like, "I can't drop that amount of money on one room for my soul for one night."
- 16:58It's so pretty.
- 17:00In the grounds, like there's so much more grounds like in the front.
- 17:04That's the back.
- 17:06There's cute little stone bridges and there's extremes and little places to sit and little trails.
- 17:13They got little duckies.
- 17:16It's so cute.
- 17:17It's so cute.
- 17:18There's a bridge and there's flowing waters.
- 17:21That's like the kind of hotel where you just like leave your window open all night and just listen.
- 17:27It's like the abbling brook.
- 17:29It is pretty.
- 17:30And I kind of like, "Oh, I got a little ahead of myself because I was so excited to talk about the waterfall."
- 17:35So this is actually the Wagwin-Win hotel is not the building that's there now, but it was on this man.
- 17:42All of the grounds are the original design and all the trails and stuff are from the original.
- 17:51The original Wagwin-Win hotel.
- 17:54Wow.
- 17:55So that all stayed.
- 17:57It was a successful summer resort for 16 years until it was bought by Simon Benson for $400,000.
- 18:09Oh, okay.
- 18:11And today's money would be $6,324,666.
- 18:18That's so many doll hairs.
- 18:20A lot of dollars.
- 18:21Dollars.
- 18:22Yes.
- 18:23Dollars.
- 18:24And then he tore it down.
- 18:26And...
- 18:27Oh no.
- 18:28So he tore that hotel down to build a new one of his own.
- 18:33One that was named after himself, of course.
- 18:36Yeah.
- 18:37The hotel Benson.
- 18:39You know, not the one in Portland.
- 18:41Is it why you're doing...
- 18:42Is there a Benson in Portland?
- 18:43There is, yeah.
- 18:44Not the same one.
- 18:45I don't know if it's the same guy.
- 18:47I didn't look into that.
- 18:49I would assume probably.
- 18:51It's like that's not a super common name.
- 18:54He was like a wealthy dude.
- 18:55I mean, building hotels on the side of waterfalls in the show.
- 18:58I mean, it's possible.
- 18:59It's the same person, but I don't think so.
- 19:02I meant to kind of go down there, but I was like, I already did different routes.
- 19:05So much.
- 19:06Yeah.
- 19:07There's a lot.
- 19:08There's so much.
- 19:09This new hotel Benson was a popular place since its Grande opening.
- 19:15Oh.
- 19:16Ariana Grande, oh Grande.
- 19:19In June of 1921.
- 19:22Oh wow.
- 19:23I know.
- 19:24It's like almost June.
- 19:25Weird, right?
- 19:26Like I think this comes out in June.
- 19:28Yeah.
- 19:29So weird.
- 19:31There's another weird little cute thing that...
- 19:33I don't know if I told you because I was like, we rescheduled this recording because I was
- 19:38feeling good.
- 19:39And I was like, I would do it for you.
- 19:41And I was like holding on to this really cute, fun fact I want to tell you.
- 19:45Like that was my bright spot.
- 19:47Like it'll hold.
- 19:48Yeah.
- 19:49So that's coming.
- 19:50Like just in a second.
- 19:51I'm just like, I can't stop.
- 19:52It's like Christmas and I'm telling you what I'm getting you.
- 19:56I'm so excited.
- 19:57You're like, you hear it and you're like, oh.
- 20:01No.
- 20:02So not only did FDR stay, but so did Coolidge.
- 20:08No, not Jennifer.
- 20:11That was Calvin.
- 20:13That's so funny.
- 20:14I mean, I knew better because we're already talking about presidents, but I'm like, it'd be so
- 20:21much cooler if it was Jennifer.
- 20:23I know.
- 20:24I like basically read your mind before I even had to.
- 20:27Yeah.
- 20:28I know we all got excited.
- 20:31Are they?
- 20:32Are they related?
- 20:33Probably not.
- 20:34That would be interesting though.
- 20:37Yeah.
- 20:38We can explore that.
- 20:39Jennifer Coolidge for president.
- 20:40I would be so into that.
- 20:44Oh my god.
- 20:46Anyway, speaking of strong sexy women actresses, Claire Boe also stayed at the hotel.
- 20:56And everyone should know who that is by now.
- 20:59Thank you, Taylor Swift.
- 21:02Do you know what is?
- 21:04Yeah, I think so.
- 21:05Because like I, I don't know.
- 21:06I immediately went and looked it up.
- 21:08I had no fucking clue who it was until I googled it.
- 21:11Oh.
- 21:12And she was like the first, like it girl.
- 21:15Oh.
- 21:16Okay.
- 21:17I think she was in silent films.
- 21:19Yeah.
- 21:20And she was like kind of like the first sexy, like Marilyn Monroe type.
- 21:24I think those type of actresses after her looked up to her.
- 21:28Okay.
- 21:29Okay.
- 21:30So pretty cool.
- 21:31My fun fact.
- 21:33Yes, her birthday.
- 21:35Is it July 29th?
- 21:38It's July 29th.
- 21:40The 1905 dude.
- 21:43We're basically twins.
- 21:46I thought that was so cool.
- 21:47I saw that and I was like, I have to tell Caitlin.
- 21:50And your birthday is coming up.
- 21:53Yeah, it is.
- 21:54It's going to be lost in the shuffle this year.
- 21:58But we should just have a clear about celebration for you.
- 22:02Like an old, tiny, silent film party.
- 22:05Ooh.
- 22:06It's fucking cool.
- 22:08We can like, pencil or eyebrows on.
- 22:11It'll be great.
- 22:12I mean, I already do.
- 22:15Yeah, but like not like they used to.
- 22:18That's the one line.
- 22:20Yeah, it's like one line.
- 22:22It's a straight line across your face.
- 22:25Yeah, yeah.
- 22:26Totes.
- 22:27Well, despite its popularity, the hotel couldn't withstand the depression.
- 22:32You know, a lot of people can't.
- 22:34Yeah.
- 22:35And in 1952, it was sold to new owners and became a retirement home.
- 22:42I mean, so.
- 22:43Fucking sign me up.
- 22:45I mean, yeah, it is nice, but it's gorgeous.
- 22:48Kind of crazy that it went from like a hotel like so lively in and all the same.
- 22:54Yeah.
- 22:55It's like a retirement home.
- 22:56True.
- 22:57Where it's like people just, you know, relaxing about and.
- 23:02Yeah.
- 23:03I mean, it's a different vibe for sure.
- 23:05Definitely a gorgeous, gorgeous spot.
- 23:07Yeah.
- 23:08Yeah.
- 23:09And I also wonder how many people passed there since it was a retirement home.
- 23:16People there were are of.
- 23:19Natural passing age, you know, to put it.
- 23:23I just feel like probably they all like called their family and were like, hey, like.
- 23:29I just want to come and be at home with you.
- 23:31So I feel like probably no one.
- 23:33No one passed there.
- 23:34That's what I would say.
- 23:36I think maybe the Storks come and pick them back up.
- 23:39Yeah.
- 23:40Yeah.
- 23:41Also that's that probably they drop them off and then they pick back up when it's time.
- 23:45Totally.
- 23:46Yeah.
- 23:47Yeah.
- 23:48After 1977, ownership changed a couple more times along with a lot of renovations because,
- 23:57you know, she's getting a third age a little bit until it finally reopened sometime around
- 24:042012 as the Columbia Gorge Hotel.
- 24:08Okay.
- 24:09And that's what it's known as today.
- 24:12Okay.
- 24:13It actually like I kind of did dig a little bit on this and it wasn't super clear with the
- 24:18dates like after 1977.
- 24:20They said renovation started but then like didn't actually say when it opened up again.
- 24:27So I'm not really sure.
- 24:29It's just, if anyone else wants to, you know, take time to look it up for me.
- 24:33Be great.
- 24:34She did a lot of research and I'm kind of done with that phase.
- 24:39I mean, I googled when it opened and it wouldn't tell me.
- 24:42So I said, fuck off.
- 24:44I'm not adding it.
- 24:45Some of a bitch.
- 24:47I thought that did seem a little backwards though because like it had all the dates from
- 24:53like before that.
- 24:54Oh, yeah.
- 24:55You know, you think like records will like get a little better with time.
- 24:59I mean, to some degree, but I feel like sometimes they can be hard to find still.
- 25:07Those records might exist in a number of forms or fashion.
- 25:12They just haven't like written a blog post about it.
- 25:14That was easily searchable on Google.
- 25:17Exactly.
- 25:18Exactly.
- 25:19I have to go sit through the archives.
- 25:21Yeah.
- 25:22Sit through all of the tax documents for properties, which is goals.
- 25:27Yeah.
- 25:28Someday I would love to have that kind of fucking time.
- 25:31Okay.
- 25:32I really would.
- 25:33Pretty time consuming.
- 25:34Give me more money.
- 25:36So I'm going to read a quote from the hotel's website.
- 25:42Ooh.
- 25:43Perched atop the majestic cliffs of the Columbia River, Columbia Gorge Hotel and Spa, who
- 25:52has wordy guest accommodations.
- 25:55Facilities include our award-winning Simon's Cliff House restaurant and Valentino Lounge
- 26:02and outdoor terrace for dining or drinks, a meeting space to accommodate up to 130 guests.
- 26:08Wow.
- 26:09Okay.
- 26:10Which I think is their mind fall room.
- 26:14Okay.
- 26:15Yeah.
- 26:16We'll talk a little bit about that later.
- 26:17That makes sense.
- 26:18Yeah.
- 26:19And they do, I think they do weddings or two because they have like a whole outdoor.
- 26:23Who's going to find it?
- 26:24They have like a dance floor set up and like light like twinkle lights everywhere.
- 26:29I know.
- 26:31I did look at at least one venue in Hood River.
- 26:35Oh, you did?
- 26:36Oh, you did.
- 26:37Yeah.
- 26:38I mean, we didn't go out and tour it, but it was like kind of on the sort of short list for
- 26:44places that we might go out and tour.
- 26:48But as far as location, like proximity to PDX, you know, as far as like, you know, for people
- 26:58coming in that are flying in because they do have a lot of people that are flying in
- 27:03the front.
- 27:04It is an hour east of Portland.
- 27:05Exactly.
- 27:06Yeah.
- 27:07So it's a tough one.
- 27:08I wanted to pick something close to Portland.
- 27:14We've got something we're really excited to share with you guys.
- 27:18Let's hear a few words from our new pod besties.
- 27:21Hello twisted humans.
- 27:23Do you find yourself wanting to know more about the latest murder, conspiracy, cults, or
- 27:29haunting?
- 27:30Then this is the podcast for you.
- 27:32We're bringing the most intense stories that'll keep you up at night.
- 27:36He was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter and philonia's assault, but he was only sentenced
- 27:44to five months of probation.
- 27:47And this would be the last time that anyone ever saw him.
- 27:51There are allegedly two women who also drowned in the first month's pool.
- 27:55What's this the same glowing green they'd seen in the darkness the night before?
- 27:59He had refused to sit near the wagon cloth because of stains on it, which were most likely
- 28:06blood.
- 28:07Join us every Tuesday for a glass of wine or sangria and a dose of true crime.
- 28:13I'm Alicia.
- 28:14And I'm Sierra.
- 28:16And this is twisted and un-court.
- 28:20Like the mouth creepy people, their info is in our show notes.
- 28:27So I kind of teased you into the hauntings and then I like didn't talk about them yet.
- 28:32I kind of gave you a little bit of a buffer, but now I like kind of have to get into it.
- 28:37Here we go.
- 28:38Okay.
- 28:40One of the common occurrences here is like so gross to me.
- 28:45And I actually hope that it's not someone living because like it would just be so rude.
- 28:50You smell of cigar smoke.
- 28:53Yeah, I don't care for that.
- 28:58I wrote kind of icky.
- 28:59I wrote get the fuck out of here, but like GTF 008.
- 29:03It's like, get through.
- 29:07Get through.
- 29:08Get through.
- 29:09That's how I feel about cigar smoke.
- 29:11Yeah, it's pretty icky.
- 29:12It's pretty pungent.
- 29:13Yeah.
- 29:14Not a fan, especially like if you smoke a cigar and then like come home later, like fuck
- 29:19off, fuck right off.
- 29:21Get out of my house.
- 29:23Are you speaking from experience?
- 29:25No, absolutely not.
- 29:27Okay.
- 29:28Anyways, moving on.
- 29:30Moving on.
- 29:31People think it could be someone who lived there when it was a retirement home.
- 29:35Okay.
- 29:36Yeah, that makes sense.
- 29:38Yeah.
- 29:39Sogar smoking, you know, older men.
- 29:41That's all they got to do to hang out.
- 29:43Just smoke cigars and like play chess.
- 29:47I don't know.
- 29:48Peanuts.
- 29:49Peanuts, there you go.
- 29:52The paranormal activity mostly occurs on the third floor and the ballroom, which I assume
- 29:58is on the main floor.
- 30:00Okay.
- 30:01There is reports.
- 30:02Actually, it's funny that I say that it occurs only on the third floor and the ballroom
- 30:07because you'll see why later.
- 30:10Is it funny or is it?
- 30:13It's just basically the entire hotel.
- 30:15Okay.
- 30:16Okay.
- 30:17Fine.
- 30:18There's reports of having a hard time getting some of the guest room's doors to open because
- 30:24somehow in an empty room, some of the furniture made its way over to lock the door.
- 30:34No.
- 30:35No.
- 30:36No.
- 30:37And I'm out.
- 30:40Or guests have called the front desk saying that they can't get out of their rooms and that
- 30:47the door seems barricaded.
- 30:49No.
- 30:50No.
- 30:51No.
- 30:52So it's like it's either trying to get you to stay out of the room or trying to keep you
- 30:58in.
- 30:59Oh my God.
- 31:00I want to say I don't know which is worse, but I think trying to keep you in is so much
- 31:06worse.
- 31:07Yeah.
- 31:08That is worse.
- 31:09You can get out through the window like, ooh, just can you get out through the window?
- 31:15I mean, someone might have tried to do that.
- 31:19I hate that.
- 31:20I hate it.
- 31:21I don't like it at all.
- 31:23I'm so sorry.
- 31:25Several apparitions have been cited.
- 31:28A man wearing a classy old-timey fit.
- 31:33Top hat most definitely included.
- 31:35Okay.
- 31:36And I don't think he's hat man.
- 31:39I think he's like a generally like nice, like not menacing shadow person.
- 31:43I think he's just like a nice old-timey ghost.
- 31:46Okay.
- 31:47Great.
- 31:48I think people said he's like helpful.
- 31:50Cool.
- 31:51Yeah.
- 31:52So it's like, I know what you're thinking.
- 31:54He's not hat man.
- 31:55He's not evil.
- 31:56I totally was thinking that.
- 31:58Yeah.
- 31:59Yeah.
- 32:00Yeah.
- 32:01I didn't black that out at all.
- 32:03We haven't really talked about hat man yet.
- 32:05Yeah.
- 32:06But I'm sure you've picked it up here in there.
- 32:10Yeah.
- 32:11I have a hat man story.
- 32:12Okay.
- 32:13Great.
- 32:14I know.
- 32:15I'm so excited.
- 32:16I'm holding out on everyone.
- 32:17I'm so excited.
- 32:18I'm holding out on everyone.
- 32:19That's going to be like my bombshell moment of like, what?
- 32:24Everyone.
- 32:25You've always said that you haven't been haunted and then I drop this on on everyone's
- 32:28butt.
- 32:29Okay.
- 32:30Great.
- 32:31Yeah.
- 32:32Something like that.
- 32:33Cool.
- 32:34Terrifying.
- 32:35So I've said it before and I know I'll probably say it again, but are you even a haunted
- 32:43hotel if you don't have a lady in white?
- 32:47I mean, I don't feel like we need to put like strict labels or things on stuff.
- 32:56They say that she died by suicide off of the balcony, which tragically.
- 33:05I'm not sure if it's sad.
- 33:06Like every lady in white story is how they died by suicide, which sucks, which is kind of
- 33:13why I said, ooh, we don't want to like go out the window because someone tried that and
- 33:17it didn't end very well.
- 33:18No, I mean, that's fair.
- 33:20I guess it's a balcony shouldn't jump out of her window like at the man race of, but I'm
- 33:25really glad that my dress isn't white white.
- 33:28Yeah, me too.
- 33:29If I'm being honest because then you have no chance of dying and being a lady in white.
- 33:33And it's, say, you're safe.
- 33:34You're good to go.
- 33:35Okay, great.
- 33:36There's actually, there's honeymoon stuff in here later.
- 33:42Oh, yeah.
- 33:43For sure.
- 33:44For sure.
- 33:45Sorry.
- 33:46Just know I'm coming for you with the honeymoon stuff.
- 33:49I don't do it on purpose, just like you don't talk about dead animals on purpose.
- 33:53Yeah.
- 33:54Okay.
- 33:55A woman is also seen in room 330.
- 33:59I'm actually not sure if it's the same woman or not or if it's like two different women.
- 34:03The stories weren't super clear.
- 34:05Okay.
- 34:07And then we have Caitlin's favorite ghost, the child.
- 34:15Are we, we should start playing Ghost Bingo.
- 34:16Is that something another podcast does?
- 34:18I don't think so.
- 34:19It like kind of sounds familiar.
- 34:21Ghost Bingo.
- 34:22Maybe we talked about it with Christina.
- 34:24I like, okay.
- 34:25Maybe we just do it because fuck it.
- 34:27Right.
- 34:28I think we can go to the same side.
- 34:29Bingo card with like the typical ghost and then mark them off.
- 34:33That sounds fun.
- 34:36Let's go.
- 34:37So the child ghost is seen, heard and felt around where the pool used to be.
- 34:45Felt?
- 34:46What the fuck does that mean?
- 34:48Little handsies.
- 34:49No, I have my own creepy little hand.
- 34:53Yeah.
- 34:54So I mean, you might feel some creepy hands that don't belong to you if you visit.
- 35:00It'll thank you.
- 35:03So it does say where the pool used to be.
- 35:05I'm not sure where that was if it was like maybe where the spa is now because that's kind
- 35:11of like a building that looks like it could have been like kind of separate from the hotel
- 35:16and maybe a pool was in there.
- 35:17Okay.
- 35:18I'm not 100% or maybe it was the ballroom because that has like action.
- 35:23I'm not sure.
- 35:24They didn't tell me where the pool used to be.
- 35:27There's nothing not haunted.
- 35:30So everything is haunted.
- 35:35I swear to you, it's always like a kid at the pool, like a creepy kid at a creepy empty pool.
- 35:41Just it's not okay.
- 35:43But like pools are the shit when you're a kid.
- 35:45So I kind of got it.
- 35:47Yeah.
- 35:48I might become an adult size ghost, a pool, who knows?
- 35:53An adult size child.
- 35:55What are you going to do?
- 35:58If you're a bit sensitive, you might feel increased energy in the building or feel like
- 36:05you're being watched.
- 36:08I feel like maybe it has to do with that flowing like waterfall too.
- 36:12All the energy.
- 36:13Yeah.
- 36:14Because that like, that might get energy.
- 36:17You know, like, yeah.
- 36:19What are those things with the dams?
- 36:22Is that how you get power with the rushing water with the dams?
- 36:28Hydro.
- 36:29Hydro power.
- 36:31Some EVPs have been caught.
- 36:34Electronic voice phenomenon of a woman humming.
- 36:39I mean, that could just be me.
- 36:42I started humming a Christmas song.
- 36:45I don't know why.
- 36:51They also caught what sounds like shredding paper and knocking.
- 36:58No.
- 36:59No, the knocking has to stop.
- 37:02Okay.
- 37:03No.
- 37:04No.
- 37:05No.
- 37:06No.
- 37:07I like knocking.
- 37:09I think that's fun.
- 37:11I've been watching a lot of ghost hunters different from ghost adventures.
- 37:14There's no Zach Baggins.
- 37:16So I've been watching ghost hunters and they do like a lot of knocking and like, yeah.
- 37:22They do this thing that is like kind of interesting to me where they, they go like a like tell, tell
- 37:28me your name and then they go a b c b e and then they like you're not the knock.
- 37:35Okay.
- 37:36And so like spelled out.
- 37:37I think it's really hard to write out.
- 37:39Yeah.
- 37:40So I'm like, what if it's like a delayed reaction and I'm like talking too fast.
- 37:44And they're like, no, I meant C, but they got all the way to E.
- 37:49I just don't seem to work out for the ghost hunters, but I don't know what it does.
- 37:55We'd probably second guess ourselves.
- 37:57Yeah, we like.
- 37:58Well, it could be.
- 37:59Well, let's just get a Ouija board at that point.
- 38:04No, yeah.
- 38:06Just kind of.
- 38:08Okay.
- 38:09Now I have indigestion.
- 38:10Sorry.
- 38:15Oh my god.
- 38:16I'm going to have the burps so bad.
- 38:20I'll scare the burps back in.
- 38:25There's also unexplained temperature changes.
- 38:28I know that you would be very sensitive too.
- 38:31Yeah.
- 38:32I also read several different stories about the closet motion sensor lights turning
- 38:40on repeatedly for no reason.
- 38:45So like the closets are either closed or they're like the doors are pulled over and you
- 38:51can see the light in there and it just keeps going off and like obviously no one's in the
- 38:57damn closet.
- 38:58I just feel like maybe it's still sensing you through the door.
- 39:01Like, that's, I'm going to chalk it up to that.
- 39:04Yeah.
- 39:05Yeah.
- 39:06Sensing you through the door.
- 39:08Yeah.
- 39:09Okay.
- 39:10Should we put that to the test?
- 39:16I'm really busy these days.
- 39:20So like we'll probably have to like, I don't know, we can get it like scheduled that for
- 39:25whenever.
- 39:26Okay.
- 39:27Yeah.
- 39:28We got some debunking to do.
- 39:30I hate that.
- 39:33Some people who stand on the third floor say that they hear sounds of praying.
- 39:41That's not correct.
- 39:42Like praying.
- 39:43Like religious.
- 39:44Yeah, that's not right.
- 39:46Okay.
- 39:47Partying.
- 39:48Oh.
- 39:49Partying is very different from praying.
- 39:52I mean, I guess if you're like super into God praying is your party and our God.
- 40:01Yeah.
- 40:04I'm burning.
- 40:05Okay.
- 40:06Some people who stay on the third floor say that they hear what sounds like people partying
- 40:15or walking around above them.
- 40:18But the third floor, that's the top, topiest of the floor.
- 40:24Yeah.
- 40:25There's nothing above them.
- 40:27Okay.
- 40:28So they shouldn't be hearing sounds of walking around or talking above, right above them.
- 40:35Yeah.
- 40:36Mm-hmm.
- 40:37Great.
- 40:38Shadow figures, orbs, whispers, child's fingerprints on mirrors.
- 40:47Curtains moving by themselves when windows are completely closed and the AC is on.
- 40:58Too much.
- 40:59Too much.
- 41:00Too much.
- 41:01I don't like it.
- 41:03No.
- 41:04I wrote this one for Caitlyn.
- 41:09Great.
- 41:11Someone commented titled Honeymoon form Hell.
- 41:15So don't go here for your honeymoon, Caitlyn.
- 41:18Okay.
- 41:19I'm going to drop that idea.
- 41:21a while back.
- 41:22But all right.
- 41:23Let's go.
- 41:24The newlyweds were staying on the second floor and one of them started randomly feeling sick
- 41:30right when they got inside the room.
- 41:32Great.
- 41:33I mean, it couldn't just be because you're, you know, just tied to someone the rest of your
- 41:37life for the rest of your life.
- 41:40There's no escape.
- 41:42The old ball and chain.
- 41:46And I'm actually going to quote the rest of their comment.
- 41:51All these comments are from OregonHauntedHouses.com.
- 41:54Ooh.
- 41:55One of my common sources for the comments.
- 41:59The room got super hot.
- 42:01I felt like throwing up instantly.
- 42:04I remember seeing bloody faces of a woman and man outside our window.
- 42:10That escalated quickly.
- 42:12You know that's like my kryptonite, right?
- 42:14Like being really hot out of nowhere.
- 42:17Yeah.
- 42:18I hate that.
- 42:19But like, seeing bloody faces, that's like whatever.
- 42:21Oh, I mean, yeah, that's probably annoying too.
- 42:24But like being too hot is my nightmare.
- 42:29The thing about this is they go, they, they say seeing bloody faces casually and then go
- 42:36on to say, quote, while sleeping, I felt like I had something pushing, pressing my body
- 42:43into the bed, a dark presence sitting on my chest.
- 42:48Like how did you go to sleep after your seeing bloody faces outside the window?
- 42:52I don't know.
- 42:54Not trying to victim shame.
- 42:55No, but yeah, I, not a lot of sleep in happening for me after that.
- 43:04It was like someone had opened an evil portal in that room like a Ouija board was used.
- 43:11Many dark spirits in that room.
- 43:14Great.
- 43:15Thank you.
- 43:17We didn't stay the two nights.
- 43:19We left by 10 a.m. the next morning.
- 43:21Yeah.
- 43:22I bet, I bet.
- 43:23Goods even worse.
- 43:25I went directly to the hospital.
- 43:28I thought I was going to die.
- 43:29They gave me a shot of penicillin in my rear.
- 43:32Oh, my God.
- 43:33What's penicillin before?
- 43:36Like an, that's actually, an avaiant.
- 43:38Yeah.
- 43:39Yeah.
- 43:40Damn.
- 43:41So like they were actually sick.
- 43:43Something was not right.
- 43:45Do you really get penicillin in your butt?
- 43:47I mean, that's, they can do it that way.
- 43:53Well, they chose to.
- 43:54Yeah, they chose to.
- 43:55That was a choice.
- 43:58They go on to say it was the sickest I've ever been in my life.
- 44:02Sick are two weeks.
- 44:04I am already sensitive to the spiritual realm.
- 44:08There is some bad energy there for sure.
- 44:10I would never go back.
- 44:12I have seen and heard good and bad spirits in my life.
- 44:16You go there looking for evil.
- 44:18You might just find it.
- 44:20No joke.
- 44:21Okay.
- 44:22They should do a ghost adventure there if they haven't already.
- 44:27Oh, my God.
- 44:28I'm willing to take their word for it.
- 44:30Like I don't need to experience it because I'm also afraid of needles.
- 44:36So yeah, I mean, I would like to see Zak Bagans go there though.
- 44:40Well, yeah, let him get a shot of penicillin up his butt.
- 44:45I mean, in his butt cheek, you get it.
- 44:48You know what?
- 44:49Just, yeah.
- 44:50I'm not about that life.
- 44:53This was from 2006.
- 44:55So it's possible that like the energy is cleared up by now.
- 44:58Not really sure.
- 44:59It's kind of a long time ago.
- 45:00Yeah.
- 45:01Do you see how quickly she starts negotiating?
- 45:04Seriously?
- 45:05It was just 2006, you know?
- 45:07It was like so many years ago.
- 45:10Zach Begins hasn't even been there.
- 45:12So it's probably not that haunted.
- 45:14I did chat.
- 45:15As far as I know, I didn't find an episode.
- 45:20Okay.
- 45:22Someone else staying on the second floor commented that they had a very quote odd and vivid
- 45:29dream of a black mass next to the bed.
- 45:34When the mass started to smoke and catch the room on fire, they startled awake, horrified.
- 45:42In the morning, they noticed that a Bible that I assume probably should have been in
- 45:47the drawer was out on the nightstand.
- 45:51And that happened to be exactly where the black mass was in their dream.
- 45:56Okay.
- 45:57Great.
- 45:58So I was like, oh, is this like a sleeping mask?
- 46:01Cause like I use those, you know, you put the mask on your eyes and you just like fall asleep.
- 46:06Not a mask.
- 46:07It's a mask.
- 46:08A black mask.
- 46:09Oh no.
- 46:10Okay.
- 46:11Well, I don't use those.
- 46:12Yeah.
- 46:13Healing in.
- 46:14I know.
- 46:15I know.
- 46:16I try to clear them.
- 46:17Oh no.
- 46:18Oh.
- 46:19So I think of like a shadow person, but like shapeless.
- 46:28But I have a good theory about this.
- 46:34So in the dream, the black mass was like catching fire.
- 46:38So maybe the Bible was like getting rid of it and protecting this person.
- 46:43Oh, maybe.
- 46:44Yeah.
- 46:45That's what I'm going to go with.
- 46:46Okay.
- 46:47Cause yeah, that's better than I think.
- 46:49Well, then I should be fine.
- 46:50Cause I was like baptized.
- 46:51So, you know, right.
- 46:52Yeah, you're totally fine.
- 46:53You're just going to just burn all the black masses you come into contact with.
- 46:57Okay.
- 46:58Great.
- 46:59Oh no.
- 47:02There were also several different commenters relating stories of sleep paralysis in
- 47:08the middle of the night.
- 47:11And someone or something sitting on the bed.
- 47:19Like they see the indents, they feel the sheets tugging like the bed dipping down one
- 47:27person said they physically like rolled towards where the dip was.
- 47:32Great.
- 47:33Yeah.
- 47:35One of them said upon checkout, the hotel randomly gave them $150 gift certificate for their
- 47:41next time.
- 47:43And they thought we had all the time to back on.
- 47:45Yeah, right.
- 47:46Well, they thought that was kind of odd because they never really complained about anything.
- 47:50Yeah.
- 47:51And they later found out that the hotel sometimes blocks off sections if they're having a lot
- 47:56of paranormal activity in the room was right next to a blocked off area.
- 48:01So I don't know if they actually do that or if they still do that.
- 48:04That was this commenter's experience.
- 48:07Okay.
- 48:08But they're like, here, maybe you probably experienced some shit here, the $150.
- 48:14Come back.
- 48:15Yeah, please come back.
- 48:16Come back.
- 48:17Great.
- 48:18If you want to give me your gift card, I'll go back.
- 48:22I'm a bag.
- 48:23She says.
- 48:25Also, I have no clue if they still do this, but I thought it was kind of cute.
- 48:30I found a little advertisement in October of 2016.
- 48:36The hotel had awake the dead Halloween party.
- 48:40And in the advertisement, it said it's their annual Halloween celebration in Hood River's
- 48:44own haunted hotel.
- 48:46Hontos.
- 48:47That'd be cool if they still do that.
- 48:49Yeah, that'd be fun.
- 48:50I have no idea.
- 48:51Yeah.
- 48:52And then drive home.
- 48:54You don't want to stay?
- 48:56They got your favorite black masses.
- 48:59Yeah, I think I'm good.
- 49:03I actually talked to someone who stayed there.
- 49:06Oh, my friend Jessica and she said, she didn't see the ghost.
- 49:10Whatever.
- 49:11Okay.
- 49:12But they had a haunted tour for guests when she stayed.
- 49:16I had fun.
- 49:17They told them about it at check-in and had a little tour going for some of the guests who
- 49:21were interested.
- 49:22And I was like, I had no idea.
- 49:25So now when we stay, I'm definitely going to be like, where's this tour?
- 49:28Do you see that when we stay?
- 49:33When?
- 49:34When we stay?
- 49:35Well, so we're going to go with.
- 49:37Let's have a Patreon giveaway and whoever wins gets to stay with Casual and Hoodel.
- 49:47That might work.
- 49:48That might work.
- 49:49Yeah.
- 49:50We'll see.
- 49:51We'll see.
- 49:52Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
- 49:57Stick to it.
- 49:58It's actually another haunted hotel in town.
- 50:01Oh, but I'm going to save that for a little Patreon bonus.
- 50:06Ooh.
- 50:07Yeah.
- 50:08I love that.
- 50:09We'll talk about that one a little bit later with our creepy Patreon people.
- 50:14All right.
- 50:17But for now, do you want to move on to some tarot?
- 50:19Tarot.
- 50:20You ready to like stop talking about the ghost?
- 50:23That was actually kind of a scarier one than they have been recently.
- 50:27Yeah.
- 50:28That one, I don't know.
- 50:29I thought I was building like a little bit of like a taste for the spooky and that one challenged
- 50:38me.
- 50:39Yeah.
- 50:40I mean, that's not as scary as I could go.
- 50:42Yeah.
- 50:43No, I know.
- 50:44I mean, it's not a challenge.
- 50:46Challenge accepted.
- 50:47No.
- 50:48No.
- 50:49All right.
- 50:50Let's tarot up.
- 50:52All right.
- 50:53Okay.
- 51:00I'm drawing a card now.
- 51:04She's drawing a card now.
- 51:07So we got the four of swords and that we do.
- 51:12It is a little ghost sleeping on a cloud.
- 51:16It's very cool.
- 51:18And it's like, you're at a hotel and what do you do?
- 51:22You sleep on their cloud like bed and then the ghost sits on the bed.
- 51:30It matches.
- 51:31That's it.
- 51:32We don't even need to read it.
- 51:33Well, the key words are rest recuperation, retreat, solitude, introspection and recovery.
- 51:45That is interesting.
- 51:46It was like a summer retreat.
- 51:49It was a retirement home.
- 51:50Yeah.
- 51:51It's like a destination hotel.
- 51:53Yeah.
- 51:54You're not staying there on business.
- 51:55Probably you're staying there.
- 51:56I'm not relaxed.
- 51:57There's a spa.
- 51:59A spa.
- 52:00Yes.
- 52:01We should just go there for the spa.
- 52:04Yes.
- 52:05Please.
- 52:06Okay.
- 52:074’s symbolize stability.
- 52:13This card represents withdrawing and resting in order to get your bearings after a time
- 52:18of trouble.
- 52:20Some decks show a night lying down, recuperating after an inner or outer battle.
- 52:29Battle with the black mask.
- 52:31Maybe.
- 52:33And we drew this in the upright position.
- 52:36We did.
- 52:37Okay.
- 52:39Often this card means you've been through a period of difficulty and now feel the need
- 52:44for introspection and solitude.
- 52:48You're examining what you've experienced, trying to understand what it all means.
- 52:54So you can plan for your future.
- 52:57This is the comb after the storm card.
- 53:03Sometimes it shows you're starting to recover from a physical injury or illness.
- 53:08Hmm.
- 53:09Wasn't that one guy sick?
- 53:12I don't know if it was a guy or a girl writing it, but.
- 53:14Yeah.
- 53:15The married couple.
- 53:16The honeymoon from home.
- 53:18Yeah.
- 53:19Interesting.
- 53:20Plus I do think of with it having been sort of a retirement facility, you think about there
- 53:29might be instances where maybe somebody is not recovering enough to necessarily return
- 53:37to living as like a single individual, but maybe regaining their strength.
- 53:45Okay.
- 53:46In reading about money, the upright for urges caution in discrimination.
- 53:54Maybe you need to separate yourself from a financial issue.
- 53:59This card can also suggest you feel overwhelmed by financial burdens and need a rest.
- 54:05The depression.
- 54:06Yeah.
- 54:07And the hotel took a rest too, because remember we talked about it being like lively and
- 54:12then it was a retirement home.
- 54:14Yeah, that's a really good point.
- 54:17If the reading is about your job, you probably feel burned out at work and need a vacation.
- 54:24So this is about a hotel.
- 54:26I feel like that blinds up pretty perfectly.
- 54:30After a period of stress, confusion or difficulty, you may be sorting things out, clearing your
- 54:38head and regaining your strength.
- 54:41Oh my gosh, that's like literally the exact words I used.
- 54:44Yeah.
- 54:45Like a sentence ago.
- 54:47In reading about love, the for upright can mean carving out some time for yourself.
- 54:53Ooh, carving out like a waterfall through the cliff.
- 54:58Yeah.
- 54:59Literally.
- 55:01Challenges in a relationship may have left, may have left you feeling drained or discouraged.
- 55:08Look within to discover your true needs and how you can restore balance.
- 55:15There's an extra excerpt here.
- 55:17Okay.
- 55:19Find clarity from doubt.
- 55:24In introduction to tarot, Susan Levitt writes, "Unfortunately, the mind is too often filled
- 55:31with worry, doubt and fear."
- 55:34More the mind absorbs information that has little to do with the soul's inner workings.
- 55:41To counteract this, she recommends meditation, yoga, deep breathing, chanting, prayer, long
- 55:49walks and baths.
- 55:51A spa?
- 55:52I know.
- 55:53Honestly, that just sounds like the perfect kind of retreat or vacation.
- 56:03Yeah.
- 56:04And there's a lot of space to walk around the land they are there.
- 56:10What was it saying about like?
- 56:12Yeah.
- 56:13Okay.
- 56:14So I'll read this again.
- 56:15It says, "Unfortunately, the mind is too often filled with worry, doubt and fear."
- 56:20That's what I was thinking of.
- 56:21Yeah.
- 56:22So like, you know, it's probably not that haunted.
- 56:25You shouldn't worry about it or fear it.
- 56:27You should just go and relax the spa.
- 56:30Mm-hmm.
- 56:31Yeah.
- 56:32Yeah.
- 56:33I think that's the only difference.
- 56:34That's what the tarot said.
- 56:35Uh-huh.
- 56:36It was in 2006, Caitlin.
- 56:39Uh-huh.
- 56:40Yeah.
- 56:41I'm not sure that's what the tarot was saying, but I guess we shall see.
- 56:48How many types of ghosts were there?
- 56:49There was a dude, a woman, a child and a black mass.
- 56:55Yeah.
- 56:56I feel like lady in white also is sort of a separate archetype.
- 57:02Did I not say that?
- 57:03Yeah, the lady.
- 57:04You said like a woman.
- 57:05Yeah.
- 57:06I feel like a woman versus a lady in white.
- 57:08Oh, right out.
- 57:09To me.
- 57:10I guess there was technically like maybe two women, but I was going to count in them the same.
- 57:14But yeah.
- 57:15Yeah.
- 57:16It seemed like there was like four-cut two.
- 57:18There.
- 57:19No, no, no.
- 57:20A few.
- 57:21Well, uh, we're drinking some CBD water.
- 57:23Oh, yeah.
- 57:24I almost forgot.
- 57:25Yeah.
- 57:26Sh.
- 57:27Tasty.
- 57:28Lavender mint.
- 57:29Yeah.
- 57:30I think it's it.
- 57:31Lavender mint.
- 57:32Yeah.
- 57:33Lavender mint lemonade.
- 57:34It's purple.
- 57:35It's pretty.
- 57:36It's from rogue.
- 57:39Yeah.
- 57:40She pretty.
- 57:41She tasty.
- 57:42Tastes like straight CBD.
- 57:45Mm-hmm.
- 57:46It's really good.
- 57:48I don't think CBD.
- 57:50I think maybe sometimes it has a little bit of a flavor, but the CBD can't taste it.
- 57:54No, I don't think so.
- 57:56Should we sign it off?
- 57:57Let's sign it off.
- 57:58All right.
- 57:59Have a creepy ass day.
- 58:04See you next Tuesday.
- 58:06See you next Tuesday.
- 58:07Unless you're at a spa.
- 58:09Yeah.
- 58:10And then maybe we'll see you sooner because that'd be fantastic.
- 58:14Yeah.
- 58:15Watch out for them black masses.
- 58:18I don't care for the troubles.
- 58:20How could you?
- 58:39I don't know.
- 58:40She's like, I don't know.
- 58:41I don't know.
- 58:42I don't know.
- 58:43Just look at her.
- 58:44Nothing to add to that.
- 58:45Like, just, the bit is done.
- 58:48(laughs) pnwhauntsandhomicides.com
