- 0:01In the impalpable field of secret self, this little outer
- 0:06being's vast support parted from vision by Earth's solid fence,
- 0:11he came into a magic crystal air and found a life that lived not
- 0:16by the flesh, a light that made visible immaterial things a fine
- 0:23degree in wonders, hierarchy. The Kingdom of subtle matters,
- 0:28fairy craft outlined against a sky of vivid hues, leaping out
- 0:34of a splendor, trance and haze, the wizard revelation of its
- 0:39front. A world of lovelier forms lies
- 0:42near to ours, where, undisguised by Earth's deforming sight, all
- 0:48shapes are beautiful and all things true.
- 0:52In that lucent ambience, mystically clear, the eyes were
- 0:56doors to a celestial sense, hearing was music and the touch
- 1:02a charm, and the heart drew a deeper breath of power.
- 1:07There dwell earth, nature's shining origins, the perfect
- 1:11plans on which she moulds her works, the distant outcomes of
- 1:15her travailing force. Repose in a framework of
- 1:20established fate, attempted vainly now, or one in vain
- 1:26already, were mapped and scheduled there.
- 1:28The time and figure of her future sovereignties in the
- 1:32sumptuous lineaments traced by desire, the golden issue of
- 1:38mind's labyrinth plots, the riches unfound or still uncaught
- 1:42by our lives, unsullied by the attaint of mortal thought, abide
- 1:48in that pellucid atmosphere. Our vague beginnings are
- 1:53overtaken there, our middle term sketched out in prescient lines,
- 1:59our finished ends anticipated live.
- 2:02This brilliant roof of our descending plain, intercepting
- 2:07the free boon of heaven's air, admits small inrushes of a
- 2:11mighty breath, or fragrant circuits through gold lattices.
- 2:16Its Shields our sealing of terrestrial mind from deathless
- 2:20Suns and the streaming of God's reign.
- 2:23It canalizes a stranged Irish glow and bright dews drip from
- 2:29the immortal sky. A passage for the powers that
- 2:34move our days. A cult behind this grocer,
- 2:37nature's walls, a gossamer marriage hall of mind with form
- 2:42is hidden by a tapestry of dreams.
- 2:46Heaven's meaning steel through it as through a veil.
- 2:51Its inner sight sustains this outer scene, a finer
- 2:55consciousness with happier lines it has attacked.
- 2:59Our touch cannot attain a purity of sense we never feel.
- 3:04Its intercession with the Eternal ray inspires our
- 3:08transient earth's brief lived attempts at beauty and the
- 3:11perfect shape of things in rooms of the young divinity of power
- 3:17and early play of the Eternal Child.
- 3:20The embodiments of his out winging thoughts laved in a
- 3:24bright everlasting wondrous tints and lulled by whispers of
- 3:29that lucid air, take dream hued rest like birds on timeless
- 3:34trees before they dive to float on earth times sea.
- 3:41All that here seems has lovelier semblance there.
- 3:45Whatever our hearts conceive, our heads create some high
- 3:49original beauty, forfeiting thence exiled here consents to
- 3:54an earthly tinge. Whatever is here, a visible
- 3:58charm and grace, finds there its faultless and immortal lines.
- 4:03All that is beautiful here is there.
- 4:06Divine figures are there, undreamed by mortal mind.
- 4:11Bodies that have no earthly counterpart traverse the inner
- 4:15eyes illumined trance and ravish the heart with their celestial
- 4:20tread, persuading heaven to inhabit that wonder sphere.
- 4:25The future's marvels wander in its gulfs.
- 4:28Things old and new are fashioned in those depths.
- 4:33A carnival of beauty crowds the heights in that magic Kingdom of
- 4:37ideal sight. In its anti chambers of splendid
- 4:41privacy, matter and soul, in conscious union meet like lovers
- 4:47in a lonely secret place. In the clasp of a passion not
- 4:52yet unfortunate, they join their strength and sweetness and
- 4:57delight and mingling make the high and low worlds one intruder
- 5:03from the formless infinite. Daring to break into the in
- 5:07conscience rain, the spirits leap towards body touches ground
- 5:13as yet unwrapped in earthly lineaments.
- 5:16Already it wears, outlasting death and birth, convincing the
- 5:20abyss by heavenly form, a covering of its immortality,
- 5:26alive to the lustre of the wearer's rank, Fit to endure the
- 5:31rub of change and time. A tissue mixed of the soul's
- 5:36radiant light and matters. Substance of sign, burdened
- 5:40force imagined vainly in our minds, thin air an abstract
- 5:46phantasm, mould of mental make. It feels what earthly bodies
- 5:51cannot feel, and is more real than this grosser frame after
- 5:58the falling of mortality's cloak.
- 6:01Lightened is its weight to heighten its ascent.
- 6:05Refined to the touch of finer environments, it drops old
- 6:09patterned palls of denser stuff, cancels the grip of earth's
- 6:14descending pole, and bears the soul from world to higher world,
- 6:20till in the naked ether of the peaks the spirit simplicity
- 6:24alone is left the eternal Being's first transparent robe.
- 6:31But when it must come back to its mortal load and the hard
- 6:35ensemble of Earth's experience, then its return resumes that
- 6:40heavier dress. For long before Earth's solid
- 6:45vest was forged by the technique of the atomic void, a lucent
- 6:51envelope of self disguise was woven round the secret spirit in
- 6:55things the subtle realms. From those bright sheaths are
- 7:01made this wonder world, with all its radiant boon of vision and
- 7:06inviolate happiness, only for expression, cares, and perfect
- 7:11form. Fair on its peaks it has
- 7:15dangerous nether plains. Its light draws towards the
- 7:19verge of nature's laps. It lends beauty to the terror of
- 7:23the gulfs and fascinating eyes to perilous gods.
- 7:28Invests with grace the demon and the snake.
- 7:33Its trance imposes Earth's in conscience immortal.
- 7:38It weaves for us death's somber robe and authorizes our
- 7:42mortality. This medium serves a greater
- 7:47consciousness, a vessel of its concealed autocracy.
- 7:52It is the subtle ground of matters worlds.
- 7:55It is the immutable in their mutable forms.
- 7:58In the folds of its creative memory it guards the deathless
- 8:02type of perishing things. Its lower potencies found our
- 8:07fallen strengths, its thought invents our reasoned ignorance.
- 8:12Its sense fathers our bodies reflexes, our secret breath of
- 8:17untried mightier force, the lurking sun of an instant's
- 8:21inner sight. Its fine suggestions are a
- 8:25covert fount for our iridescent rich imaginings, touching things
- 8:31common with transfiguring hues, till even earth's mud grows rich
- 8:37and warm with the skies and a glory gleams from the soul's
- 8:41decadence. Its knowledge is our error's
- 8:45starting point. Its beauty Dons our mud mask,
- 8:48ugliness its artist good begins our evil's tale.
- 8:54A heaven of creative truths above a cosmos of harmonious
- 8:59dreams between a chaos of dissolving forms below it
- 9:05plunges, lost in our inconscient base.
- 9:09Out of its fall our denser matter came.
