- 0:37I'm descending on a gravel road and then another bear is running up a tree in front of me.
- 0:42So now I stop and I'm stuck and I'm like, I don't know what to do because if
- 0:46I go forward, there's a bear. And if I go back, there's a bear family.
- 0:50Yeah. What do I do? So I was like, gosh, so took a moment. I'm like praying,
- 0:54like, hey, I'll be a better person. Like, just don't let the bear be. Make all the promises.

- 1:31Riding bikes is a refuge for Sid.
- 1:33Whether it's a morning home workout or a ride on the road or trails,
- 1:36it's all about finding a balance that helps to create some harmony between being
- 1:40a husband, a father, and the other half of a successfully global lifestyle brand.
- 1:45We are thrilled to hear more about the role cycling plays in your life and pick
- 1:49your brain on your loves, hates, hits, and misses along the way.
- 1:52We know you're all in on cycling for the pure joy of the sport itself.
- 1:56So without further ado, welcome, Sid.
- 1:58Hey, guys. Thank you so much for having me. So we want to dive right in.
- 2:01Tell us about your background, how you got into cycling. I am the youngest of six kids.
- 2:06I have three older sifters and two older brothers.
- 2:09The two older brothers were obviously always pushing me to do something.
- 2:12So whether that was keep up with them on BMX bikes or, you know,
- 2:16we moved to Southern California when I was a year old. My brothers got into
- 2:20surfing. That became something that pushed me to do as well.
- 2:23And then we were like, you know, surfer kids, skater kids.
- 2:26So this was, let's see, this was in the 90s. And this was when skateboarding
- 2:30was much more of like a counterculture sport.
- 2:32And that was us. We built ramps in our own front yard, big quarter pipes that
- 2:37we were either jumping bikes or riding skateboard.
- 2:39And I've kind of just grew up with that.
- 2:41In my blood not traditional sports but always i
- 2:44mean when i was in middle school i would just get dropped off at the
- 2:47beach in the summertime and my mom would come back like six or
- 2:50seven hours later and pick me up because i think about doing that now with
- 2:53my kids i have three girls um that are 11
- 2:568 and 3 and i'm like that's pretty wild
- 2:59like i didn't look at it well it's very
- 3:02different now too from back then of what you could
- 3:05do and the culture out there today of letting yeah
- 3:08letting our kids kind of gain their own independence a different
- 3:11i know i we're always trying to to figure out ways
- 3:14to do that with some some safety around it but also pushing
- 3:17them to to find themselves and i used to just get like a quarter
- 3:20and a call from a payphone and 10 bucks for lunch and
- 3:23i would see you at like three or four in the afternoon so that was pretty fun
- 3:25and that's how i grew up and and as i've gotten older
- 3:29i've always kind of just found that i'm happiest when
- 3:32i'm moving more throughout the day so whether that's squats
- 3:35or hikes or bike riding or skating or
- 3:38whatever i just i want to do that and even when we go
- 3:40on vacation this last vacation we went on well about
- 3:44let's say a little bit earlier in the year we went on vacation to mexico for
- 3:47like a friend's birthday with all of our neighbors and everyone just wanted
- 3:50to lay around and i'm like that's always the best kind of vacation do nothing
- 3:55yeah and i'm like even on vacation i'm like let's go like let's rent scooters
- 3:59let's go like you know let's go climbing let's go around swimming you know.
- 4:03Let's go chase like, I don't know, I don't spearfish, but let's learn how to spearfish.
- 4:07I mean, my wife and I have kind of come to this point where if it's just us
- 4:11traveling with other kids, like we will wake up.
- 4:14I will usually bring my bike. I'll go for a ride.
- 4:16She'll kind of work out and then we'll like meet up and have lunch and kind of start our day.
- 4:21And then at that point, I'm like, I'm good to like relax. I'm good to chill.
- 4:24I did our ride this morning. Like I'm good. Yeah. You did your self care.
- 4:27You can meet in the middle.
- 4:29Plus, there's a compromise there because we already know we're focusing so much on the kids.
- 4:33I have two boys and I know how that goes they'll both be
- 4:36like did you ride everyone's like did you ride dad like just
- 4:39to kind of seem grumpy and they'll be like go
- 4:42for you need to work out like everyone's like go work out and then come back
- 4:45you know I love it these days are so self-aware like the awareness that they
- 4:50have to the environment around them as well so to pick up on that and and give
- 4:54you that tip you know it's time for you to get on the bike ride dad it's amazing
- 4:57I know and I think it's really important we always are pushing our kids as much
- 5:00as possible to go out and play.
- 5:01And my oldest daughter, she's a lot like me. She's a redhead and she's like
- 5:06about to get like, she has to get run.
- 5:08She has to have her workout and then she's in a much better place. Yeah, it works.
- 5:13Whatever kind of outlet it is, it could be physical for some people. It could be mental.
- 5:17We all have to have that. I mean, as we move into the school year and things
- 5:22are a lot more structured, you know.
- 5:25With time and even in the summer, I only have a
- 5:27certain dedicated portion of the day to ride so
- 5:31usually my my time is like i kind of started when
- 5:34the kids were younger to be like okay anything before people
- 5:37wake up like that could be dad's time so we will
- 5:39wake up at like 7 7 30 sometimes eight
- 5:42o'clock so then it's like okay if i want three hours to go ride
- 5:45like then that means i'm riding at 5 a.m right you
- 5:48know or 4 30 sometimes we'll start in the summertime and like
- 5:51do a bigger ride but i'm starting really early so maybe
- 5:54i'm only missing like 30 minutes and then being awake an hour
- 5:57or so yeah and that feels during the year i know
- 6:00as parents we can struggle with that feeling of are
- 6:03we there enough if we're doing something like that for
- 6:05ourselves i know i go through that sometimes so yeah
- 6:08totally and then in the school year i mean that that shifts to
- 6:11like it becomes a lot earlier they have to get up at like 7 15 so
- 6:14my time window is short and that's like gotta do
- 6:17that once we go to school then i'm like meeting start
- 6:20and my brother and i like we do a lot of training at
- 6:23the same time we'll talk about it he lives in southern california and
- 6:26it'll do we just joke like the days we don't do in the morning you
- 6:29never get to do it in the afternoon because you're like oh god
- 6:33later and if you're a busy person
- 6:37like your day fills up and you have no time late you know yeah yeah it's so
- 6:40important i think after becoming a mom i became so much more structured and
- 6:44people ask me oh how do you do it and i'm like actually it's much easier now
- 6:47because before i'll be like i'll do it later and then that later never happened
- 6:51and being a parent actually structure my day so much that.
- 6:54I became so much more disciplined. Yeah. Like our kids have their schedule for
- 6:58bedtime, for everything that we do.
- 7:00And sometimes that makes us like less fun parents.
- 7:04Like some other parents are like, we can stay up, whatever.
- 7:07And I'm like, okay. There's a hack to that. And you have to have this structure.
- 7:11It's good for them. But that's the importance of having these outlets and having
- 7:15cycling and having these conversations with adults because we get so focused on the family aspect.
- 7:21I think it definitely is always a balance, right? Right. Because anything completely
- 7:24is extreme is like that. Right. Everything's always scheduled.
- 7:28Like kids are going to lose their mind. But and if I'm riding,
- 7:31I can't ride all day recovery and I don't have time to do any other things.
- 7:34But finding that balance is is is always important.
- 7:38And so that's something that we're always trying to chase because I never think that we achieve it.
- 7:42It's just like I kind of think it's like a sliding scale, passing life and family
- 7:47and work and cycling and or other sports. It's just like, you're never going
- 7:51to find a perfect balance. And there never is.
- 7:54So don't have that be another stress point in your life to freak out about.
- 7:58Just know that it's just styles.
- 8:00Sometimes stuff gets turned up and turned down. I love that.
- 8:03Beautifully said. You said you were cycling since how old were you?
- 8:07I remember I just had a 40th birthday this last week.
- 8:12And they had some pictures out. And I had this teal, aqua blue bike with white tires.
- 8:17And I was like, that thing's sick. Like just looking back at it,
- 8:20I'm like, I would ride that now.
- 8:21But I was thinking I was four when I had that bike, you know?
- 8:25Oh, well, you started early.
- 8:27Oh, yeah, I remember that bike because I remember going to some dirt jumps with
- 8:31my brothers and then being like, yeah, you should hit that. I'm like,
- 8:34okay. What's the difference?
- 8:36My brother, so my oldest brother is 15 years older than I am.
- 8:39Their brother is 10 years older than I am.
- 8:42That's the oldest. And then I'm the youngest of six. And then I got my three
- 8:46sisters and it's right out in there.
- 8:47But it's good. I mean, I think there I went off and on from biking.
- 8:52Sometimes skating more, surfing more, but I always felt very comfortable on bikes.
- 8:56And then then in my early 20s, like fixed gear bikes were really cool.
- 9:00And I'm like looking back now, I'm like, oh, my gosh, I don't think my old man
- 9:04knees could like like the shape.
- 9:05You're like sliding and like using your knees like the other way to like slow down.
- 9:09And but it was fun. We are always we are getting tons of friends together to big bike rides.
- 9:14And there was this thing called critical mass. Yes, they still do that here.
- 9:19Yeah. They do it for the domestic once every, I think it's the last Friday or Friday of the month.
- 9:24Friday of the month. I remember doing a really fun extreme one called like Wolfpack
- 9:29in LA and it was all six gear bikes.
- 9:31Basically, you met at one point and they just rode as fast as they could through
- 9:35the different parts of like LA.
- 9:37And I was like, this is crazy.
- 9:40And at the same time, like there's another kid like smoking like while driving.
- 9:44Riding faster than me because like my brain couldn't
- 9:47process like what was happening you know i was like i
- 9:50don't understand had no idea about like
- 9:53zones or training or any of that that exposure
- 9:56to me it was just you know riding as fast as you can and
- 9:59not sometimes it still blows my mind all
- 10:02this different type of training that's out there and
- 10:05once you wrap your head around something then there's something new yeah
- 10:08so you train baby structure now so i did
- 10:10a bunch of it we moved from california to
- 10:13utah 10 years ago to the like to
- 10:16the week and when we were starting
- 10:19to build our company we had sold our home and we went
- 10:22all in on building this company and led to
- 10:25a lot of just only working 17 18
- 10:28hours a day like just wow at that
- 10:31time both my wife and i were not really like hey
- 10:34we have time to work out we're not we didn't make that a priority so
- 10:38we went through probably like a period of like five years where that was the case
- 10:40of like building the company doing nothing but focusing
- 10:44on that and then time with family when
- 10:47we can and then that was really it and i think that we got to a place we started
- 10:52realizing like that was pretty detrimental and we needed to start being able
- 10:55to work out and then we started to really see that that was a positive thing
- 10:59and support each other be like okay like i'll i'll watch the kids you go work
- 11:03out and she would do the same and really realizing like.
- 11:06Okay, that's quite beneficial to give each other time to work out,
- 11:09but to just have like a moment alone, right?
- 11:11And then she started really appreciating that and then doing that for me.
- 11:15And then I grew to be like, okay, cool.
- 11:17And so we moved to a new location as we were going to build our home.
- 11:20So we were up in Salt Lake area, we moved a little bit further south.
- 11:23And I moved next to someone that was like, hey, like us and a bunch of friends,
- 11:27we're going to do this Malibu triathlon sprint.
- 11:30So you should get your bike. I could do a bike again so i
- 11:33got a bike ran like five times i like hate running
- 11:36i still think it's cool because if you go on a trip all
- 11:39you have to do is bring shoes then i went to malibu ram in
- 11:42the ocean really cool did the ride was doing
- 11:45great crashed got back up all bloody
- 11:48it was really cool finished strong ran very slowly but still finished and then
- 11:54i was like i love it like this is fun the competitive side i want to get into
- 11:58it about the bug a couple weeks to start working out again my feet felt like
- 12:03they were broken from running like six miles. I've never run six miles in my life. I decided.
- 12:06So that was fun. I kind of like reignited that and I knew that I would probably
- 12:12trend towards more of the endurance like the marathon. They call it like.
- 12:16Let's see like more like Olympic marathon or endurance like
- 12:20racing just because my brothers have done
- 12:22that for a while so my brother's done Leadville which
- 12:26is a mountain bike racing Colorado that's that's an epic one and he's done it
- 12:31like 12 times my other brother's done it like seven times so I knew like okay
- 12:36they tend to like maybe this is something that's like kind of in our blood like
- 12:41in our genes or our genetics doing these longer endurance races and doing pretty well at them.
- 12:46And so that's where I started like, okay, I'm going to train.
- 12:48I'm going to look at doing a race. There's the Belgian waffle races.
- 12:52Yeah, they're great. Yeah. So there's, it started really big in California.
- 12:55And then about four years ago, they're like, we're going to do one in Utah,
- 12:59like Cesar city. So Southern Utah.
- 13:01And I'm like, okay, I'm going to, I'm going to do that one. I'm going to train
- 13:04for this race and go do it.
- 13:05And it's funny because I say train for that race. But my brother's feedback
- 13:08was like, we'll do just, you just, you're newer.
- 13:10So just spend time on your bike you know like do a lot of time i'm like okay
- 13:15but like do you have more for me there and he's like yeah just ride a lot you
- 13:19know and i'm like ride a lot okay like so.
- 13:24Intervals now yeah like what do i no no no you didn't give me any guidance at
- 13:28all on that man yeah they're just like ride more i was like felt very lazy on
- 13:33their part of like not wanting to get further direction right so i went and
- 13:37i rode it the biggest i'd ever rode before this race was like 75 miles.
- 13:41This was 125 miles. I wasn't even fueling with carbs.
- 13:45I had like BCAAs in my bottle. I'm like, what?
- 13:48Like, okay, great. You're not going to lose any muscle during the race.
- 13:51Like, okay, you're good. Like, and so I did it.
- 13:54I finished it. I was like, okay, great. But it was like, I was breaking towards
- 13:59the end. We're like, here's pickle juice and cola.
- 14:02Well, I've never had pickle juice. I like took it and I was going to,
- 14:05I don't know, I felt like I was going throw up but it was such a shock to the
- 14:08nervous system i think it served its purpose i was able to like then
- 14:11have some copacola and then just ride to the to
- 14:14the finish and so that was like first travel bike race that was fun this was
- 14:19before like gravel was like really cool i was like i didn't even know what it
- 14:22was you know it's huge now and so it's so huge now so that was my first one
- 14:27and then i kind of just led to doing more and more races and kind of leading to more structure.
- 14:33So to answer your question, I like then wanted to target doing Leadville with
- 14:37my brothers. Like I thought that'd be very cool. So that was a far off goal.
- 14:40I put that on the calendar and I started like just learning more about structured
- 14:44training, what that world looks like.
- 14:46I got introduced and I used like training trainer road and just got on a very
- 14:51structured training program, which I appreciated because in life,
- 14:55like it was nice to just say like, okay, show up and this is the training plan.
- 15:00This is what I have to do today. And it's this time period.
- 15:03I'll just plan for that and to go execute my training and not to like be really
- 15:06like thoughtful, like, how am I doing this?
- 15:08How am I building out my training program? Like what am I going to do?
- 15:11And then I listened to the trainer road podcast. like here's
- 15:14the thing my wife will tease like she's like you
- 15:17get obsessed and so when i was like larger let's
- 15:21say carrying more weight that's a good way
- 15:23to say i'm not working out for five years and just building a business i got
- 15:27really obsessed with like okay i want a couple different things and then i went
- 15:30like keto and so she was like oh my gosh so then i lost like 80 pounds with
- 15:34keto like and then was trying to just unride my bike all the time and then i
- 15:39stopped doing that as I was like,
- 15:42okay, I'm learning about carbohydrates and how you can feel with carbohydrates, right? Yeah.
- 15:46And just, okay, I'm on a, I do training. I don't really need as many on higher
- 15:51intensity days, threshold efforts, or more just a higher intensity of training,
- 15:56like, yes, you should feel right. And how that plays into recovery.
- 15:59So I started learning about the balance of training at a stressful level and recovery.
- 16:03And the other aspect of that is like, work is so stressful.
- 16:06Like, hey, we have this huge problem. And what are we going to do about it?
- 16:10And I had just had to take a couple of years to learn how to like,
- 16:14okay, that's an additional factor that I maybe just need to like back off on
- 16:18the amount of intensity days if work is super stressful, because I'm not going to recover as well.
- 16:23And then I'm going to not feel good. And I'm going to have a hard time performing
- 16:26at work. Because for me, I always have to balance everything.
- 16:29Performance at a race with like performing every
- 16:32day for like my family and work and did you
- 16:35have all these insights all by yourself yourself teaching or
- 16:38did you have at this point did you get a code that was guiding
- 16:41you yeah so i i love the trainer row
- 16:44podcast a lot because they give a lot of insight on
- 16:48that balance so i think they're trying to take a much more balanced approach
- 16:51of like we are going to give you more functional training
- 16:54for people that actually live real lives and
- 16:56I don't just get right I cannot just train like pro
- 16:59athletes non-stop but I then I did get
- 17:02a coach one time one year and they
- 17:05were great but they also worked with
- 17:08a lot of pro athletes so they would give me something that was a
- 17:11lot more intense with like less period
- 17:14of rest and that was a really hard year
- 17:17I felt like very fatigued I felt like run
- 17:20down and that part of that obsession too was
- 17:23i was just constantly thinking about it throughout the day
- 17:26of like how am i resting am i doing too much am i stressing
- 17:29too much am i eating enough because if you do a good
- 17:32amount of rides and you burn 1500 calories like and if you don't take in enough
- 17:36like you're constantly chasing that through the day and it's actually eating
- 17:40quite a bit to make up that deficit to just be at even oh again so i went i
- 17:47had to learn probably over the period of three years, what kind of training works,
- 17:52when to kind of like be honest with myself and back it off.
- 17:55And whether a coach was best for me or not. And I know that there's different
- 17:59coaches with different philosophies.
- 18:01And I've spoken to some that are like, hey, we're used to working with professionals.
- 18:05Like we're gonna balance this a little bit more and taking the factor of like
- 18:09your life and your lifestyle as like a part of your training component, right?
- 18:13Right, the importance of your family as well and making time and having the
- 18:17energy, some energy stores for that too and not being so fatigued for everything.
- 18:22Or, you know, even with a coach, you know sometimes we pick a coach and
- 18:25it's just not a good fit doesn't mean that they're good or bad it's just
- 18:28not a good fit like you said this one had a lot of pros i also i'd
- 18:31be fired by a coach for because he was like oh you're missing too
- 18:34many workouts i'm like i have a child and i work like yeah you're like i know
- 18:39it's like i can't work with you i'm sorry no and then i was like getting like
- 18:42bothered like oh the kids are sick like don't get near me like you know you're
- 18:47like yes when it gets to that point where you're like i can't get sick right
- 18:51now like how dare you Exactly.
- 18:54You're going to ruin my training. That's it. You're going to send me back two
- 18:57weeks. Oh, 100%. I did Leadville twice.
- 19:02Full's very interesting. Amazing.
- 19:05Interesting, different experiences each time. Yeah. Very interesting.
- 19:08The first time I did it, super fun day, but about five miles towards the end,
- 19:13me and my two brothers were pretty close.
- 19:15My oldest brother, Rob, was in front of me.
- 19:18I was right behind him. And then my other brother, John, was about eight minutes
- 19:21behind us. one of the final descents down St. Keevans.
- 19:25He crashed and ended up hitting a tree, got knocked out. I was just like, right there.
- 19:32Hey, Rob, are you okay? Completely unresponsive, kind of just moaning.
- 19:37That knocked out. Oh, it was scary.
- 19:40Then my brother showed up. We notified a couple of other racers going by.
- 19:44We're like, please send somebody.
- 19:46We stayed with him for a bit, but he was, I mean, he was pretty broken.
- 19:51So my other brother, John, said, why don't you finish?
- 19:55Like, everyone's at the finish line. Like, let them know what's going on.
- 19:59Make sure someone's coming back to help us and that the rest of our family that
- 20:03was there to support us would know what's going on as well.
- 20:05So I finished after staying with Rob and John for about 15 or 20 minutes,
- 20:10went and finished to make sure someone was coming back to him.
- 20:12He was taken to the hospital. He had a concussion, collapsed lung, broken collarbone.
- 20:17So he ended up in the hospital for quite a bit. So there was a lot of emotion.
- 20:21I mean, you know, like as you're through these long, physically exhausting days,
- 20:25you're already kind of emotionally like on edge.
- 20:28And then that on top of it. So I was just like, oh, I was like losing it.
- 20:32I was like, oh, Sid's crying. I'm like, well, I don't know what happened.
- 20:35I don't know if my brother's like paralyzed or a piece.
- 20:37Has he had that full recovery now? Yeah.
- 20:40So Rob has been riding for a long time. He's broken one collarbone four or five
- 20:46times, the other collarbone four or five times.
- 20:49So for him to break a collarbone, that wasn't that big of a deal.
- 20:52The concussion and the concussion. Tell him to slow down those descents.
- 20:56I will. But I think with the McGee boys, you get what you get.
- 21:01Because we just do it and enjoy it. We love it.
- 21:04But I have secretly seen him start to be a little bit more cautious now that
- 21:08he's 55 years old. You know?
- 21:10Yeah. It's funny how it takes that much, right? Just a little bit, you know. Right.
- 21:16I think he's just tired of thrashing and recovering from that,
- 21:19you know. And so then we did it again the next year.
- 21:23So not this year, but the previous year, my brother Rob, John,
- 21:26and I did it all together.
- 21:28It went well. Super great day. We waited for each other and we all finished
- 21:31together. I want to go back and I want to beat like my brother's times.
- 21:35The thing is that they're so fast. They did the race so fast.
- 21:39Like it's hard. Like I think my brother John's time is like 747 and Rob's maybe the 730s or something.
- 21:47But so they give out big old belt buckles if you complete it.
- 21:50And so if you do it in less than 12 hours, you get a little belt buckle.
- 21:53You do it less than nine hours, you get a big old belt buckle.
- 21:57And I have them. I have them because I wore it home and Shay's like,
- 22:00oh my gosh, like I'll let you wear that for a couple of days. But awesome.
- 22:05That's a huge cowboy belt buckle. And so that's pretty fun. And then we just,
- 22:10I don't know, it's a fun experience to race together.
- 22:12And then this following Leadville, the next month, coming up on one-year anniversary,
- 22:17because September 13th is my birthday, I was like, oh, I'm going to go for a ride.
- 22:21We had someone here with our youngest.
- 22:23And I was like, I will, I'll be right back. I was going to go to lunch with
- 22:26my wife, but she was leaving town.
- 22:28She was headed to the airport. Couldn't happen. So I'm like,
- 22:30I'm going to go ride real quick.
- 22:32Met up with a friend, rode in our foothills over here. We have over a hundred
- 22:35miles of single track, like right out our back door and was just having a great time.
- 22:40Actually too good of a time was going really fast on our like jump routes and I,
- 22:45crashed no pretty bad probably from like 10
- 22:48or 12 feet in the air and they broke
- 22:51my wrist there's still like a scar on it i broke my
- 22:54collarbone into five pieces and i.
- 22:57Broke my left thumb so right wrist right
- 23:00collarbone left i'm like okay so i'm trying to ride my
- 23:03bike down i'm like that's not working so he took me to the hospital and
- 23:06i had to tell the nanny like hey like i'm
- 23:09at an accident you know broken and hearing
- 23:12from them that like shay's mom is coming down because
- 23:15she knows it got help but my wife shay is on a plane i'm
- 23:18like i was trying to find out what is the damage before
- 23:22i talked to her but then i feel like hey babe no big
- 23:24deal had a little crash like give me a call
- 23:27when you land you know and he's like my gosh
- 23:30so she's away for a photo shoot for multiple days
- 23:33trying to photograph a large project we just
- 23:36finished in houston beautiful project super important.
- 23:40To to us and what we do and and i i think
- 23:42of that because i think just as we talked about kind of extreme if
- 23:46you're not careful and things go too far it can affect
- 23:49the other parts of your life right so i wasn't cautious enough
- 23:52i got really broken and that really impacted
- 23:55the next like six weeks till you know three months
- 23:58so it was just like recovering from this just even for
- 24:01that first four or five weeks i was really out of
- 24:03it they had to do surgery on everything I was just laid
- 24:06up in bed and wasn't riding but could barely work
- 24:09that was really difficult so that was really challenging and
- 24:13it came into this year and I didn't know what this year was going
- 24:16to look like so I didn't really do any races like I
- 24:18didn't schedule any races for this year as well so as soon as I could I just
- 24:22got back on a trainer so that was probably about it took about probably three
- 24:27months you know they call it on scale pretty fast they had to put a plate in
- 24:31with a bunch of screws and a bunch of gong graph to like hold it all together
- 24:35or yeah like there's like a.
- 24:36Do they remove anything after a certain amount of
- 24:39time or no well this summer as we were swimming in
- 24:42the backyard with my kids they're like my gosh your collarbone because
- 24:45it's so big enough like now they're like something's wrong
- 24:49dad kids will be ready and i'm like
- 24:51okay but i think that's what they want it's back together
- 24:54i can use it you know yeah but they were like you need
- 24:57to go talk to them dad so i am gonna go
- 25:00talk to them and just see what they recommend my brother who has
- 25:03broken his collarbones a lot like i was telling you about was
- 25:06like well i would have them take the metal plate out but then
- 25:09i kept breaking it so i just might as well
- 25:11keep it so but it's good you're taking your time to heal and get back on the
- 25:15bike i think there is a big culture lately of people being glorified for going
- 25:20back on the saddle after injury and i think it's something that needs to stop
- 25:25because it's not healthy yeah you're no hero i wanted to try to get back on to some extent.
- 25:30If not, I was like, even though I was broken during that first little bit,
- 25:33as soon as I could, I want to walk again.
- 25:35And then as soon as I was able to, I was carrying a heavier backpack, rocking or something.
- 25:40Just I needed the physical activity, even if it wasn't cycling.
- 25:44And then as soon as I could, I just on a stationary bike, safer environment,
- 25:48something pretty controlled and rode that.
- 25:51And January through early April, we
- 25:54can't really ride outside here because it's so snowy so
- 25:58you usually just set up your kit like
- 26:00you're like training cave in the basement and you
- 26:04watch your show and that's where you just like get that nice
- 26:07solid zone to i was just gonna set build that base right there yeah yeah and
- 26:12so that's that's what we kind of do every year anyways and and then you know
- 26:15you were asking about strength training earlier as well and that's something
- 26:19that like after getting so broken i was like i i don't know i'm predisposed
- 26:23to want to be like harder to kill.
- 26:25Like I want to be, I need to be stronger. I need to have like more of those aspects.
- 26:29And so I started incorporating strength training like two to three days a week. So
- 26:33I'll try to ride four to five days a week, doing strength training two to three
- 26:38days a week, and really just focus on that as being part of it.
- 26:43And then I got an ice bath and have a sauna, and I hate that ice bath so much, you guys.
- 26:50The sauna, I can do it at like 250 for you guys, but are you a cold or a hot person?
- 26:56Obviously, I'm used to hot, so I can probably tolerate that.
- 26:59I'm assuming the ice bath would just freaking kill me, but I'll try it.
- 27:03But I doubt I would love doing that ever. I'm a hot person.
- 27:07I thrive in the heat. I think that's my only strength when I'm training.
- 27:10When everybody's dying, I'm like, it's not.
- 27:12But I did have a nice bath when we lived in another house. I had the space, not now, but I loved it.
- 27:17Even I heard there's research that even before going to bed,
- 27:21it releases melatonin and it's good to fall asleep.
- 27:24Yeah, I enjoy. I enjoy. I enjoy the challenge of getting in and trying to be zen.
- 27:29It's a challenge for me. I have to get in quickly because the other day,
- 27:33I literally did my toe in and then I'll look at it for like 10 minutes and be
- 27:37like, come on, let's go. Come on, get in there.
- 27:39You're hyping yourself up. And then I will. I have to. So I go down there and
- 27:43I'm like, I'm like, you just got to do hard stuff.
- 27:45Like your family needs you. Don't do hard stuff. And you're going to what?
- 27:48No, like get in. And I'm like, gosh, every time it takes my breath away.
- 27:52Yeah. It's not one of those people that was like, oh, I'm so it's so easy.
- 27:55I just do it every day. I'm Zen about, you know.
- 27:58To say sometimes i cheat and just put like half a body
- 28:01just the legs you know i don't know just oh that's me
- 28:04with the pool in general my kids are always laughing at
- 28:07me because i'll go in and they're like come on mom and i'm like it cannot do
- 28:10a nice bath yeah exactly see yeah oh my gosh yeah point taken so when you're
- 28:15fully healed do you think you would do like unbound or some international race
- 28:19like i'm here in geron i just moved to europe there is so many races here gravel Yeah, so definitely.
- 28:27I mean, I've made some friends through both of our show and like kind of our
- 28:31social media presence that are pro racers. One of them is Alex Wild.
- 28:35And he just did really, really good at this last race. I think it's Schwampgen
- 28:38or the Lifetime Grand Prix series.
- 28:40And he just did Swiss Epic in the Swiss Alps. And it's like a four or five day stage race.
- 28:47Mountain bike stage race through the alps looked amazing
- 28:50so that looks really cool i'm i keep
- 28:53seeing images of like the dolomites i would
- 28:56love to do that i'm have trying to target
- 28:59like three to four races every year that i like
- 29:02to do something like close by there's a couple in utah
- 29:05that are really good race series i still haven't done but it's
- 29:07nice to do some that are kind of local and then one or
- 29:11two that are a fun place to travel to there's the urgent waffle
- 29:14race which is in British Columbia which looks really cool
- 29:17it looks so pretty obviously I mean
- 29:20the Leadville is fun because it's kind of more
- 29:23of like a getting together of people that know that
- 29:26it's a big race and especially around where I live in Utah a lot
- 29:29of my friends like try to do it every year and so.
- 29:32That's like a fun event to just like be in town with
- 29:35everybody it's like this community event everybody just kind
- 29:38of connects with each other and that's not actually doing
- 29:41it is fun but like the like before and after
- 29:44is fun you know yeah i haven't on much as like
- 29:47the road racing side they do watch
- 29:50a lot of it like in the summer it kind of gets busy but our deal
- 29:52schedule is like summertime waking up and riding like
- 29:56working throughout the day kind of hang with the kids do dinner
- 29:58and then get try to get people down before
- 30:02like 9 30 ish and then go to the basement stretch right
- 30:05just do like a 15 stretching i'm watching like highlights the
- 30:08races obviously when tour de france is
- 30:11on i try to watch as much as possible sometimes life
- 30:14gets so busy and you know but yeah it is fun
- 30:17i like the lifetime race series too because they're doing mountain
- 30:20bike and gravel and then they do a really nice like recap
- 30:23on youtube of it that's a fun one but it's a
- 30:25dad thing it's like my dad was a cyclist he passed that
- 30:28love on to like like the brothers and myself
- 30:31and i would love to go do it but i also know like
- 30:34i'm a family of three girls and shay so
- 30:38they're like let's go to the beach so we went to
- 30:40california a couple months ago and we took our
- 30:43bikes and we rode by a newport beach it's really gorgeous island
- 30:46and they were like this is so cool so they love it but i don't
- 30:49think i can sell them on purely like hey we're just gonna go watch tour france
- 30:53right you know not yet we'll go you know exactly you gotta do a little bit of
- 30:57you a little bit of them always yeah so it's a good balance but i think the.
- 31:01Best cycling trip that i was able to pull off was for our anniversary two years.
- 31:05Ago we went to mallorca and
- 31:07that was like heaven. Riding is beautiful.
- 31:11Favorite place I've ever been or been able to ride. Does Shay also ride? No. Together?
- 31:15She's like, I've tried. And she's like, it's not my jam. She loves to play tennis
- 31:18and she loves to do strength training, like Pilates stuff and other things.
- 31:24So she's very active, but she's like, I don't do this.
- 31:27That's yours. You can have that. I'll keep trying. That's what has to happen
- 31:31is just to have that support and what brings each of you joy.
- 31:34And maybe it's good because we already work together like all day. It's so true.
- 31:39You gotta have that alone time. Important. What races are you guys looking to do?
- 31:43Do you guys like to do races or what type of riding do you like to do?
- 31:47I'm a roadie for the most part.
- 31:49I did get a new gravel bike. I got a Juliana Quincy, which is just like a Santa Cruz Stigmata.
- 31:55And I have never raced. I decided to have both of my children in my 40s and
- 32:00boom, they both came like that. Hey, get on.
- 32:02You don't race, man. I bet you would kill it. I don't know. I feel like that
- 32:07would take a certain aspect, like you said, that you know what your limit is
- 32:11as far as balancing everything on that level.
- 32:14And I kind of know my personality well enough that other things have to be in
- 32:18play first before I would be able to do that. And I don't know if I would enjoy it.
- 32:22I grew up being a dancer. I danced nonstop.
- 32:25And it's a lot. I lived and breathed that. And then it takes the fun out of some of the stuff.
- 32:30So I really enjoy just the riding aspect of it. And everybody has what works
- 32:34for them. So I don't have the race.
- 32:36I competed so much dancing as I did that. I didn't get alcohol.
- 32:41So it's kind of like maybe I saved it. Yeah, exactly. What about you, Julia?
- 32:46I have an Ironman background. I started always on a bike, but I always use more
- 32:50for transportation or just leisure, you know, and then then I started doing
- 32:54triathlons and I was really into that, loved it.
- 32:58And then I don't know how ultracycline came across. And I really wanted to do
- 33:03that, but I wasn't sure I could do it.
- 33:06You know, can I do this? Because every ultracycline race has so much climbing.
- 33:10But anyways, my knees were giving up on me. And I decided to take a big break
- 33:14from triathlons and try my first ultra.
- 33:17And I really, really enjoyed it because I don't have explosive strength in me.
- 33:22And the ultra is good because I can just keep going, you know,
- 33:25keep going, keep going, keep going. You know, ride 18, 20 hours a day, sleep two, three hours.
- 33:31Keep going, keep going, keep going. And I just love it because just go to different
- 33:35places and you really get to see the culture, the people, the country.
- 33:39It's a great way to see different places and meet like-minded people.
- 33:44You know, everybody on the ultra is usually amazing and there's a huge camaraderie,
- 33:49even though there's a fish.
- 33:50In the event that you do, like how long will it last? Like typically,
- 33:53we'll be over a couple of days? More.
- 33:56The winners do in a couple of days. So my husband also does ultras.
- 34:00And he's very competitive.
- 34:03He won't sleep. So we did, for example, Bikeman Portugal and he finished,
- 34:06I think, in 51 hours, a thousand kilometers. That's not healthy.
- 34:11Oh, my God. You have 120 hours to finish, which is five days and most people take four or five days.
- 34:19Yeah, that's cool. Isn't there a race like through Morocco that's kind of like that?
- 34:24Yeah. Didn't you do that? There are a few. There is no, I haven't done Morocco.
- 34:28No, there's one that is called the Atlas Mountain and there's
- 34:32now the biking biking man is a French brand but
- 34:35they are all over Europe and they have one in Brazil that we just
- 34:38did last week and the Morocco edition as
- 34:41well coming up I think okay cool no chance
- 34:44you're gonna dip your toe in that Sid you know like looking at
- 34:47I want to do Unbound they have like
- 34:51an Unbound XL which sounds so hard
- 34:54but cool like you ride through night you know and do you I
- 34:57don't know if you guys seen have you seen any of like the vegan cyclist or
- 34:59his big bc adventure yeah but just like seeing him
- 35:02do that it's like that's that's wild i
- 35:05mean he just rode canada to mexico that looks really cool
- 35:08it's hard not like oh fun to just go on like somewhat of
- 35:11a bike packing doing a race yeah i'm really enjoying that
- 35:14more bike packing i'll be doing more and more and i think next year
- 35:17i'm gonna focus more on bike packing than racing it's just
- 35:19so much fun if you don't have a schedule to be somewhere stop
- 35:22so do you like stuff with you on the bike that you're gonna camp
- 35:25with or are you like stopping at like a place to sleep for
- 35:28the night you can do both depending where it is some people take
- 35:31their tent and sleeping bag usually if possible
- 35:34on the destination i just rather you know whenever i
- 35:37need to sleep book booking.com or something like
- 35:40that it's nicer to take a shower yeah refresh and it's lighter too it carry
- 35:45more weight sleep in the hotel wake up and then ride to an station and yeah
- 35:49we i just did with a friend of mine in norway and it was so much fun and we.
- 35:54I did camp because you can wild camp there and it's so amazing.
- 35:59But every other day we did stay at the camping site where they have facilities
- 36:03or at the hotel because just to charge everything and take a shower. Yeah. Key necessities.
- 36:09I know. That sounds awesome. That is like definitely my, I like that. I like just riding.
- 36:15I mean, we just did a little Tennessee two weeks ago, kind of just like a birthday
- 36:19trip with a Shea, and we stayed near the Smoky Mountains National Park out there. Really cool.
- 36:26And I was like, okay, it's looking like gravel riding. Honestly,
- 36:29my gravel bike needs to get tuned up, and I have this specialized gravel bike.
- 36:34That's what I want. I just told Debbie.
- 36:36And then I have Levo SL, and it's fun.
- 36:39I'm riding a titanium bike now, a French brand called Cheeto,
- 36:43and I'm loving it. It's a little bit heavier, but they say there's a bright
- 36:48feel with titanium that is just so smooth that you don't do anything.
- 36:52Super cool. I have fun bikes and a row bike. So I have a specialized World Cup.
- 36:57And then I have a specialized Epic 8. And then I have a Cervelo row bike.
- 37:03That's what I like. I know, but my buddy, Alex, he's like, we've got to be trans.
- 37:06I just got this thing, you know, like he's like, you got to replace it.
- 37:12He's like, you have to have all specialized stuff. No, that's not true.
- 37:15You can get one too. So I took my World Cup because I didn't want to ride the
- 37:18gravel bike. And I was like, I'm just going to see these gravel roads.
- 37:21Like sometimes when you're looking online, trying to figure out the route,
- 37:24like it's kind of tricky. And you're trying to look at Strava.
- 37:27You're trying to see what people are doing.
- 37:28Figured out this one 70 mile gravel bike loop goes through the national park.
- 37:33I was like, cool, I'm going to go do that. Brought kind of my heart.
- 37:35The World Cup is kind of like a hard tail with a little bit of travel on it. Yeah.
- 37:38And took off, rode the roads, and then hopped on the dirt path and was riding.
- 37:44And I don't run into a ton of wildlife before we are.
- 37:47We have moose, we have mountain lions, but no bears.
- 37:50And so, of course, I'm riding on the Scrabble Road and I'm two and a half hours
- 37:55away from where I started now.
- 37:56And I see maybe 10 feet away, like a bear cub, like run up the tree and then
- 38:01another one run up a little tree. And I've already rode. Where is Mama Bear?
- 38:05Another like 10 feet behind her is the Mama Bear. And it's like looking up from
- 38:10the riverbed, like, you know, what is, what's on?
- 38:12And I was like, So of course, like riding up this hill as fast as I can.
- 38:17About to die because i'm my heart's gonna explode i'm riding
- 38:20so fast and i'm like keep looking is there a bear is there a
- 38:22bear coming out i don't see it i'm like okay but like now i can't
- 38:25go back it's just a gravel road you gotta keep going oh and
- 38:28it's dense they get more rain than seattle does and
- 38:31so this forest it's a forest and so
- 38:34now i'm like okay i gotta just ride and kind of get out of here
- 38:37i'm descending on the gravel road and then
- 38:40another bear is running up a tree in front of me so
- 38:42now i stop and i'm stuck i'm like i don't know
- 38:45what to do because if i go forward there's a bear and if i go back
- 38:48there's a bear family yeah what do i do so
- 38:51i was like gosh so took a moment i'm like praying like hey
- 38:54i'll be a better person like just don't let the bear make all
- 38:57the promises all the promises and so then i was like i start yelling hey baby
- 39:02let's get out of here like yelling so i start yelling i start walking with my
- 39:07bike like a head over like trying to look big trying to look as big as possible
- 39:11and i get to where they were and they're not there anymore so I hop on my bike.
- 39:16I jam out of there. I'm going really fast. And then I'm like,
- 39:19OK, well, maybe slow down a
- 39:20little bit like going downhill because you did crash pretty bad last year.
- 39:24You don't want to crash and then get eaten by a bear, you know?
- 39:26Right. You're just sitting there laying there like prey. Yeah.
- 39:29That'd be bad. So slow down just a little bit. And then I got to more of a main
- 39:33Jeep road, started seeing a lot more people in cars.
- 39:37And I went through this whole national park and then another awesome gravel road and road home.
- 39:42And I was like, I tell everybody like at the hotel like the resort
- 39:45they were staying like you guys there's bears like baby careful don't
- 39:48let people go over there because that is how it is around where
- 39:51i live you gotta tell everyone dude there's bears up there like
- 39:54this is crazy and they're like yeah dude we have bears
- 39:57all over the place you know it's like no big
- 40:00deal bears everywhere like on this resort and i
- 40:03look up where i was riding they're like i love this place at
- 40:06the national park i see bears like tons of bears every time
- 40:09i go there and i'm like oh my gosh like no one told me no
- 40:12one even said on like the routes or the gravel ride planning
- 40:15or anything like hey you're gonna see a lot of bears so that
- 40:18was that was the most interesting grapple ride like
- 40:21i've ever had wow when was that so it was in so this was in tennessee eastern
- 40:25tennessee right right right by the smoky mountains it is bear country though
- 40:31and so many bugs like i got stung by like some hornet thing and they're just
- 40:35like oh yeah that you know i was like oh my gosh like i'm gonna die like this felt like so many.
- 40:39That they injure you and hurt you. It's funny, right? You're worrying more about
- 40:44getting stung by some morning.
- 40:47I'm like, and then they're like, oh, that's fine. Just watch out for the snakes.
- 40:50We have a bunch of copperheads and rattlesnakes. I'm like, because what is this place? This is crazy.
- 40:55And my wife is like, I'm scared to death because I go on the rides alone.
- 41:00I have the Garmin Mini, and I'll ride with that. So if I get into a really bad spot, I could push it.
- 41:07But at least you can track the MCM. you know yeah thank
- 41:10goodness but it is fun and i always i just kind of found
- 41:13out that like it is something that just really makes me
- 41:16happy and i am able to like just really enjoy
- 41:19it and especially this year as i didn't do as much structure
- 41:22training i kind of knew how to just maintain an aerobic
- 41:25base and and ride consistently and at
- 41:28a level where i'm not blowing myself out but it was just
- 41:31really fun i had a lot of fun and i really just wanted to fall
- 41:34back in love with that and not have the angst around it
- 41:38or and that was great because it's been a really good
- 41:40balance of just like having fun training i still
- 41:43ride like a one you know one and a half two hours a
- 41:46day and then feeling really in a good place for like the family and business
- 41:50and i think that like as you know as someone that loves it i think you're always
- 41:55constantly trying to find that balance with like life and how much you're doing
- 41:59for sport whether it is a healthy beneficial thing for you Or if it's kind of just like,
- 42:04I don't know, I think if you're good at it, I don't know, you can get sucked
- 42:08into doing it too much, right?
- 42:10Especially with the amount of volume needed, like when you're doing long endurance events.
- 42:15They're like, yeah, it'd be great if you could just do like six hours on two
- 42:18ride on Saturday, you know, to like really help build your base.
- 42:21And you're like, wow, that's a lot, you know, but it's not.
- 42:24It's funny because once you get in, you're always, you always think you can
- 42:27come around and be like, yeah, that's not that much.
- 42:29You tell other people that and they're like, oh, no. Yeah. Everybody thinks I'm crazy.
- 42:34I have four hours to do tomorrow, so nobody's going to get that.
- 42:37We all know that feeling. It's like a calm and love.
- 42:40I know. The other thing that my wife thinks is crazy is I don't like to listen to music or anything.
- 42:45Because for me, I don't do good at just sitting down and being like, I'm going to meditate.
- 42:50But it almost is meditation to me. It is.
- 42:55And if I'm doing structure training or not, I'm only just focusing on what I'm doing at that time.
- 43:01So even strength training, no music, nothing on it.
- 43:04Yeah, I mean, strength training is like a little bit more. It's like I'll just
- 43:06I usually will like go on like YouTube and watching like some kind of cycling something there.
- 43:10Oh, there's like Zafa, Brian. Have you seen that guy on YouTube?
- 43:13No. Zafa, S-A-F-A. I think he's from Europe, but he's kind of like he lived
- 43:18in Mexico City for a little bit. He now lives near L.A.
- 43:21And he ran on a road bike like downhill and stuff.
- 43:25They will just go and he'll do some oh he has long
- 43:28hair right yeah yeah i know so yeah last he
- 43:30rode with like tom peacock and yeah and he's he's
- 43:34a beast and that was like so cool so i always like watch his
- 43:37like youtube stuff and see what he's it's always like entertaining and
- 43:40what's kind of cool is like he'll do like a
- 43:4345 minute clip on youtube him like right like we're
- 43:46going for a ride in like the malibu hills and just
- 43:49record the whole thing so if you're riding you're like this
- 43:51is great i'm just gonna throw this on and do what
- 43:54it's like to ride in maladu and i'll just ride my zone too you
- 43:57know so much fun yeah but no i hear you for me also i barely listen to music
- 44:01especially on the gravel because you have to pay so much attention to your you
- 44:05know the line you're picking and that they are raw or whatever way so which
- 44:09is great because then i'm not thinking about anything it's so nice to like not
- 44:13think about work or anything else and just be like rock.
- 44:17Or if there's bears. Or a bear. True. If you had that music on,
- 44:22God forbid. For relaxation, you know.
- 44:25No, but definitely like in the mountains, too, when I'm riding.
- 44:28Like sometimes you can hear the moose, like big, huge moose,
- 44:31like kind of walking through the forest.
- 44:33So you kind of like you want to hear that, too, as well and be like,
- 44:37OK, probably shouldn't go too close to them because they're crazy.
- 44:39They'll just go through thick, dense forest.
- 44:41Wow. Will they run in front of you? I ran into them. There was two of them.
- 44:46And the big, large male was like just on the middle of the trail.
- 44:49And it's just dense forest on either side.
- 44:52And they really just kind of move when they want to. Like even throwing rocks,
- 44:55like not like hitting them with rocks, but like, can you throw rocks into the
- 44:58bushes or something to try to like have them move?
- 45:00They'll just like look at it and they don't move unless they want. And great. They do.
- 45:05And then you try to quickly go by and go away because they're,
- 45:08they are massive. They're massive.
- 45:10It is shocking to see them in person. You know, I can only imagine that would
- 45:14feel like a bear to me. Yeah. Bigger.
- 45:16Because their backs are like six feet off the ground, you know,
- 45:20just where their back is.
- 45:21And so then. I can't imagine that wildlife. I mean, we have where where I go graveling and stuff.
- 45:26There's there's trucks and I've seen. I know I rode through.
- 45:30That's that's a big fear of mine. When we were in West Palm Beach,
- 45:33we stayed there for like a baby move before we had our last little last little girl, Margo.
- 45:39And I was like, oh, it looks like there's some like gravel roads over here.
- 45:42It's kind of like this like nature preserve.
- 45:44I was like, oh, I'm going to go ride that. So I rode over and I'm like going
- 45:48through and they're like, please close the gate so that like things don't get
- 45:51out. And I'm like, oh, like what things?
- 45:53And so I'm riding and I'm like, there's all these logs like on the trail, like up ahead.
- 45:58I'm going to have to like bunny hop them or like get over them or something.
- 46:01Well, all the logs started getting up and like walking in the water.
- 46:06There's all the way. I had never seen one before. That's my worst nightmare.
- 46:10And I talked to like a park ranger at the end. And I'm like,
- 46:13he gave me the most confusing feedback ever. I was like, are they problematic?
- 46:17Like, do you have problems with them? He's like, no, there's like...
- 46:19They're fine and i'm like okay and he's like but there are
- 46:22some big ones and they can be dangerous so you gotta
- 46:25watch out i'm like hold up you said no it's fine then
- 46:28there's big ones watch out like so what's the best thing what is it like right
- 46:32right that's only more confusing with a wild animal like that they were all
- 46:37pretty cool like they got most of them just got up and walked back into the
- 46:41water like when i was riding by like but i rode i was like i'm riding i'm gonna ride fast.
- 46:45Again yeah yeah yeah it is wild there's
- 46:49always there's this one area i go past and there's this
- 46:52huge crock even on the road bike i'll never forget
- 46:55i was riding and i'm just kind of looking over to the side at the water you
- 46:59know and i'm getting close to like the ledge right there and i'm just like and
- 47:03i'm like wow that's a big rock over there that like i no joke it looked like
- 47:08a bunch of rocks on top of each other and it oh my god it is like the hugest crock i've ever seen.
- 47:13They're basically riding through Jurassic Park. They're dinosaurs.
- 47:17They're dinosaurs. So we just wanted to ask if there's anything else you want
- 47:19to talk about or promote.
- 47:21I don't know if you guys are coming up with any new shows or...
- 47:23They're always trying to get us to do more TV and people would like us to come
- 47:27back. So we're always kind of considering the ideas they have going on.
- 47:31We have just continued to have our partnerships with Target and we've done some with Polar.
- 47:36It was like plumbing and we're just continuing to grow.
- 47:39We have some really cool projects coming out we may do some more television
- 47:42but it takes a lot of time and effort television yeah
- 47:45it's roughly you know if they want three to four days a
- 47:48week over like 10 months out on top of trying to
- 47:51run our business which we really enjoy doing and is and then with the family
- 47:55component on top of that as well so it's due to like how we want to live and
- 47:59how we enjoy life it's really hard it's like what i've learned through being
- 48:03a front row to that is like you have you have to just set some things aside
- 48:07for yourself that are just fun and enjoyable right i I don't know,
- 48:09it makes me feel like a kid and it does make me keep feeling young. And so I truly do love it.
- 48:15It is a really fun thing and it does bring a lot of good balance to my life.
- 48:19So it's something to keep me
- 48:20healthy, but just an escape and some of that meditation we talked about.
- 48:23So yeah, overall, it's something I truly love. I celebrate you on that and for sharing that.
- 48:29It's just to be able to ride your bike and have that outlet and have that balance.
- 48:33That's the best way to do it. We really wanted to thank you for your time.
- 48:37Thank you, guys. It was great to meet you. Take care. Bye.
