- 0:05Hi everybody. Welcome back to the space news.
- 0:07Paw this is a show about SpaceX NASA and space flight.
- 0:10I'm your host will Walden and of this episode, we're going to be
- 0:13talking a little bit about Starship a little bit about
- 0:16Starbase a little bit about Falcon 9 and there's a cargo
- 0:21mission go to the ISS. So let's jump into it.
- 0:24First and foremost, of course we have to talk about road closures
- 0:29at Starbase The last road closure is for the 26.
- 0:33That was yesterday, so it doesn't look like we have any
- 0:36road closures or bigger testing scheduled for Starbase in the
- 0:41next coming days. So possibly, this might change
- 0:44over the weekend. They may close some roads
- 0:47Highway for early next week, Monday through Wednesday, then.
- 0:52Let's see what day is today, today is the 27th.
- 0:54So if they do it on Monday, it'll be the 30th and the 31st
- 0:58Ceylon wanted to get Starship. We Backed by about the first of
- 1:03September. So I don't think that's going to
- 1:05happen. I mean they still have to static
- 1:08fire the booster. They still have to do cryo tests
- 1:11on both the booster and the Starship and they still have the
- 1:14static fire, the Starship. So it doesn't leave him much
- 1:17time to get this thing up. And ready to fly for the orbital
- 1:23flight test, which Elon wants to get done by the end of this
- 1:26year, basically, as soon as possible would be the best
- 1:29opportunity, but But he's got a way for the FAA and they also
- 1:32have to fix a bunch of stuff on the Starship or I should say
- 1:36install a lot of things. Plumbing, Raptors, Etc, still.
- 1:40So there's a lot left to do on the Starship and on the booster
- 1:44before they can actually fly this thing.
- 1:47So I said before middle of September and I'm probably
- 1:50wrong. You know, I'm possibly October,
- 1:54you know, it's going to be a little bit.
- 1:56Plus the, FAA still has some some stuff to go through.
- 2:01They have to do the environmental impact study, they
- 2:03have to do the Tower study. So if they say no to the tower,
- 2:08then Elon and SpaceX might have to rebuild a bunch of it, but
- 2:12I've been doing a lot of work on it.
- 2:13Can see I'm working on it all day long and, you know, it could
- 2:18be October. So just take that with a grain
- 2:20of salt. It's SpaceX it seal on time.
- 2:23So you never really know what's going to be happening with
- 2:27Starship down there at Starbase. But by the way, In about a week
- 2:32and two days. So next Sunday I'm going to be
- 2:36heading out on the highway towards Starbase I'm going to
- 2:40be. I'm taking a five day road trip
- 2:43basically to get down to Starbase and then I'll start
- 2:47producing content. Of course I still have to do
- 2:49like real life stuff when you get down there, you know like
- 2:52move in to my apartment that might take a couple days but
- 2:55then after that. The 10th is, was my move-in
- 3:00date. So this show is brought to you
- 3:01by backblaze, I use back place to back up my podcast.
- 3:05My video files, all of my writing stuff, and all my
- 3:08photos. And you get unlimited computer
- 3:10backup, for Macs, and PCs for just $7 a month.
- 3:13You can backup your own documents photos videos.

- 3:27And The cool part. This is my favorite part.
- 3:29You can restore it by mail or hard drive will come to your
- 3:31house with all your data shipped to your door.
- 3:34I could come to your business to and you can restore return
- 3:37refund program so you can buy a hard drive restore, send the
- 3:41hard drive back within 30 days and get a full refund.
- 3:44So basically they ship you this hard drive and then you ship it
- 3:47back and you don't ever pay for it which is the perfect program
- 3:51for somebody who has huge files. You don't want to waste days and
- 3:54days downloading terabytes and teraflops of data.
- 3:57And if I worried about accidentally deleting your files
- 4:00to bucks extra month. You can increase your retention
- 4:02history to one year, and I use it for all of my video.
- 4:06Files comes in super handy. So seven dollars plus two

- 5:02So go to back plays.com / heel on backblaze.com Ilan
- 5:08backblaze.com Ilan after the tenth, then expect a couple days
- 5:15after that for production of Starbase content to start and
- 5:19there's there's a lot of cool stuff happening.
- 5:21Like I got to I got to tell you guys about this and some other
- 5:24video or else. I'll start rambling about it
- 5:25this whole video but we got some other stuff to take care of.
- 5:27So Stay tuned basically. We'll do it next week or this
- 5:31weekend. So check this out.
- 5:33I want to show you guys this. This is a this is the cargo
- 5:37Dragon. It's going up to the space
- 5:40station this weekend. Saturday at 3:37 am.
- 5:45I'm not streaming this one, that's too early 3:37 am, I'm
- 5:49dedicated but that's really early or pretty late depending
- 5:53on if you want to stay up that late or not.
- 5:55So SpaceX is planning to launch. Its cargo Dragon.
- 5:57This is from the NASA. A website its cargo Dragon
- 6:00spacecraft to the International Space Station, Saturday at 3:37
- 6:04a.m. eastern time. It will arrive on Sunday and Doc
- 6:08autonomously at 11 a.m. So we might be due the docking.
- 6:10That might be fun. To the harmony module, is
- 6:12forward, International docking. Adapter Port packed with new
- 6:15science, experiments, and crew supplies.
- 6:18So Thursday, yeah, there's a Saturday at 3:37 a.m. that's
- 6:24what's happening for the next SpaceX launch.
- 6:28This a Starship because I'm all I have Starship on my mind
- 6:31because I'm going down there to see Starship.
- 6:33But there's also two space, spacewalks plan to set up
- 6:37Russia's new module. And yeah, that's going to be
- 6:41pretty cool on this weekend. So if you're up at 3:37 a.m.
- 6:45eastern time, make sure to check that out.
- 6:47You can check it out on NASA's feed or probably spacex's feet
- 6:50as well. I think on a SpaceX feed is
- 6:51probably better anyway, so yeah. Check that out, this weekend.
- 6:56Oh, they did some testing the other day on a GSE tank, a
- 6:59little mini GSE tank at Starbase.
- 7:03And by the way, the Falcon 9 static fired properly for the,
- 7:09for the dragon, the cargo Dragon.
- 7:12So everything's all set for that flight.
- 7:14So, the GSE tank testing the other day on the 25th and ocean.
- 7:20Kim, got some shots of it. He's also got some video to, but
- 7:24here's some pictures of the GSE tag.
- 7:26This is like a mini mini happy They tested the other day and
- 7:30they tested it for a while and it was successful.
- 7:33It looks successful to me, lots of like tons of venting.
- 7:37At one point tons and tons of venting at one point.
- 7:40So, it looks like everything went well with this GSE tank,
- 7:43that's a good sign for Starbase going forward, when they want to
- 7:47produce their own locks in the such to get SpaceX and Starship
- 7:52flight-ready. Because apparently there's a
- 7:55locks shortage right now. It's not really going to affect
- 7:58Effect SpaceX anytime soon. Apparently, according to
- 8:03according to Ilan. So you know we'll see what
- 8:07happens in the next month with these GSE tanks.
- 8:12Make sure everything works. The new tank farm for Starship
- 8:15but apparently locks isn't a big deal for SpaceX right now.
- 8:19Now there's some other stuff going on with SpaceX.
- 8:24They've had people defect from Blue origin to SpaceX and
- 8:30people, you know, like once you get done as an engineer when you
- 8:33get done with a job, you know, you kind of move on to the next
- 8:36one, you know, if you're contracted to do x y z.
- 8:40So if you're going to build a moon lander, so to speak, and if
- 8:44you built the moon lander, then you move onto the next thing.
- 8:46Then you go to another company because you see another project
- 8:49that you're interested in your contract might be up, but here's
- 8:52an article from CNBC the other day I'm gonna show you this one.
- 8:57This is top talent departs. Jeff Bezos is blue origin,
- 8:59that's from Michael sheets the sheets tweets on Twitter.
- 9:03Blue origin is lost more than a dozen key leaders in top
- 9:07Engineers. The summer CNBC has learned with
- 9:10most leaving in weeks after founder Jeff Bezos a space y.
- 9:13So that was that's what I was saying.
- 9:15A lot of people get done with her their job, right?
- 9:17So like if your job is to make you know Jeff Bezos fly then
- 9:22you're like oh cool I did it. It.
- 9:23Like, that's I've accomplished that.
- 9:25I'm going to go accomplish something else now.
- 9:26So Engineers might leave the company after that.
- 9:29I know software Engineers do that all the time.
- 9:31Probably a two-year turn around. Most the time, if you're lucky
- 9:34for a software engineer, several of the engineers who left were
- 9:36part of Blue Ridge as astronauts lunar lander program and since
- 9:41they didn't win the hls, I could see why they would leave earlier
- 9:44this year, blue origin, lost its bid for NASA's development
- 9:47contract and shortly after basis of spaceflight Blue, Ridge and
- 9:50gave all its full-time employees.
- 9:52Ted Grant, No strings attached, cash, bonus.
- 9:55So that's like a real brief summary of this and then there's
- 9:59Jeff celebrating. I thought that was pretty like
- 10:01that's such a great photo of Jeff going like, yeah, II
- 10:04celebrates after he flew because new Shepherd, like, as much as
- 10:10you know, it doesn't make orbit. It's still a cool thing.
- 10:13Like you can't tell me that you wouldn't take a flight in that
- 10:16thing, because that would be fun.
- 10:17I would take a flight in it. I think it'd be fun.
- 10:21Company has over, 4,000 employee around 4,000 employees.
- 10:25And basically, if you go through this whole thing to go through
- 10:29this whole article, it's a great article, it's a CNBC article.
- 10:32I'll link it in the description. But basically, the said bunch of
- 10:36people left, some of them left for SpaceX, some of them left
- 10:40for other companies. Lockheed Martin, Etc.
- 10:44So people people do this all the time, so but this is a lot of
- 10:49especially Executives and Engineers to the same time
- 10:54because that gives usually stick around for a while because they
- 10:57know they can get that big payout.
- 10:58You know, the golden parachute as they say in the in business,
- 11:04I'm not am not a business guy but I use that term a few times.
- 11:07Grab the brass ring is another one.
- 11:10Okay, don't do that, please. Another thing.
- 11:16The high Bay, the high Bay at SpaceX is Starbase.
- 11:24They want to make a bigger one. The want to make a bigger High
- 11:26Bay so let me know in the comments what you think the new
- 11:29high Bay should be because it's going to be big.
- 11:32It should it be the higher Bay highest Bay, thick Bay wide Bay?
- 11:38Let me know in the comments what you think?
- 11:39Any one of those or anything that you think of in the
- 11:41comments would be very great. So check this out.
- 11:44RGV aerial photo. This is a new outlined for the
- 11:48high, the new high Bay. It's a big big facility.
- 11:52I think they can fit 9 boosters in there.
- 11:55Something like nine either 9. Starships are nine boosters in
- 11:58there. I think it's something like that
- 12:00eight or nine. So, think about that like that's
- 12:03a big wide and high. It's gonna be a little bit
- 12:06higher than the current High Bay is going to be much wider than
- 12:10the current High Bay 2. I think that was what I saw the
- 12:12other day and then Elon tweets can't wait for the new.
- 12:16Hi Bay. Yeah, we can't either.
- 12:19I want to see this thing go up. I'll be there.
- 12:21So I'm excited about that. I'll be there to watch this
- 12:24thing, go up, because it's going to be, you know, next couple
- 12:27months for this thing, to, to be built.
- 12:30Now, this is the thing that I'm that, I'm kind of like, like,
- 12:34Elon slapping back at Jeff, right?
- 12:37Ilan is slapping back at Jeff and it's, it's kind of funny.
- 12:42Like, Elon is the meme Lord, but he's really like, It's kind of a
- 12:47kind of funny thing for him to say, it's right on public, so
- 12:51check this out. Christian Davenport.
- 12:53Another front in a growing rivalry.
- 12:56Amazon, urges FCC to deny SpaceX is planned for second
- 12:59generation. Starlink why would they deny
- 13:02that? Why would they deny progression?
- 13:07And then he Lon turns out Bezos retired in order to pursue a
- 13:11full-time job. Finally lawsuits against SpaceX
- 13:15clapped back at him, striking back hard meme Lord and his
- 13:20fullest potential Elon Musk. That's the Tweet of the I think
- 13:24probably the Tweet of the month from Elan so yeah let me know
- 13:28what you think of the highest Bay the thick Bay the wide Bay
- 13:31whatever but I think this is a great tweet like Just just get
- 13:36it out, there does dish it out. And if you're going to get sued,
- 13:39let them like bring them on, right?
- 13:41So yeah, that's about it for today.
- 13:45Have a good weekend, everybody. Hopefully, we get to see the
- 13:48Falcon 9 launch as we can to. That would be great.
- 13:50Haven't had one of those in a little bit, so, bye-bye.
