- 0:00Speaker 1: Now this list that Gina has been reading of horror movies,
- 0:03Speaker 1: now the Variety's top one hundred.
- 0:05Speaker 2: So we got to the bottom ten and you say
- 0:08Speaker 2: they're not that interesting. You just read them off real quick,
- 0:12Speaker 2: the bottom ten.
- 0:13Speaker 3: But then I will circle back and do the top ten.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Because that's what I'm encountering is that people want to
- 0:18Speaker 1: know the top ten. And I said, well, we went
- 0:20Speaker 1: about this all wrong, so.
- 0:22Speaker 3: Quickly, here's the bottom ten.
- 0:25Speaker 4: And this one is the Human Centipede.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Human Centipede two. As a matter of fact, it's the
- 0:32Speaker 2: second one.
- 0:33Speaker 3: It's gross.
- 0:35Speaker 4: Go ahead, cat people from nineteen forty two. This is
- 0:38Speaker 4: the original one.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Well, we got a good David Bowie song out of it.
- 0:42Speaker 2: That's the remake.
- 0:43Speaker 3: That's the remake.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Yeah, this is the original, directed by Val Luton.
- 0:48Speaker 4: Next one is Event Horizon, which is a space horror.
- 0:52Speaker 2: It's not bad.
- 0:53Speaker 1: I've heard good things. I haven't seen it.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Yeah, that's pretty good.
- 0:57Speaker 3: Ninety five Dead Alive I've never seen that is a right.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Alive Peter Jackson.
- 1:01Speaker 1: That Alive where they used a lawnmower as a weapon
- 1:05Speaker 1: like a shield. Oh great, to go through a room
- 1:08Speaker 1: full of zombies with your lawnmower shield.
- 1:12Speaker 4: Ninety six, Invasion of the Body Snatchers from nineteen seventy eight.
- 1:16Speaker 2: That's great. That's the remake, and the original is good too. Yeah.
- 1:19Speaker 3: Ninety seven is The Haunting.
- 1:21Speaker 2: That's good.
- 1:22Speaker 3: In nineteen sixty.
- 1:23Speaker 4: Three, ninety eight, The Devil's Backbone. It's a Guermo del Toro,
- 1:28Speaker 4: a very good movie. Ninety nine Suspiria is Dario Argento.
- 1:35Speaker 4: That has also been remade, but the original. One and
- 1:38Speaker 4: one hundred is something called Repulsion, which is Catherine Deneux.
- 1:43Speaker 2: That's a Roman Polanski.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Movie that's a gross for other reasons.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Repulsion.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Let's let's circle back. Those are all fine movies. They're
- 1:51Speaker 2: very good.
- 1:52Speaker 4: Circle back to the top ten Top ten horror movies
- 1:55Speaker 4: according to Variety. Number ten Carry from nineteen seventy six, Yes, Basic.
- 2:01Speaker 1: I can see your Dirty Pillows.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Piper Laurie, John Travolta, Don Travolta. Yeah, he's a bad guy.
- 2:08Speaker 4: In number nine, Sollow or The one hundred and twenty
- 2:13Speaker 4: Days of Sodom.
- 2:14Speaker 2: I've read detailed descriptions of this movie. It should not
- 2:17Speaker 2: be watched by any anyone. Huh.
- 2:21Speaker 4: Number eight is Frankenstein, the original from nineteen thirty one.
- 2:25Speaker 4: Maybe do a double feature, watch that one and then
- 2:28Speaker 4: go to the theater and watch Toro's new one Fire.
- 2:35Speaker 1: It's funny because somebody was telling me that they watched
- 2:39Speaker 1: the Original Frankenstein and then they watched Young Frankenstein and
- 2:43Speaker 1: they said it was amazing how many shots were just
- 2:47Speaker 1: exact copies. That's how of the first one. That's how
- 2:50Speaker 1: focused mel Brooks was on doing a parody.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Actually, there are more. There are more shots from Bride
- 2:56Speaker 2: of Frankenstein and Young Frankenstein.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Number Evan is audition. This is a is it a
- 3:05Speaker 3: Korean Korean movie? I think?
- 3:10Speaker 4: Number six Night of the Living Dead from nineteen sixty eight.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Classic still George Romero coming to get You, Barbara.
- 3:20Speaker 4: And number five Rosemary's Baby from nineteen sixty eight.
- 3:24Speaker 3: That's another Roman polant, very scary.
- 3:27Speaker 4: It's Mia Farrow, John cassavettis she has Satan's baby.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Yeah, And who's the old woman?
- 3:34Speaker 1: Oh, it's what's a day?
- 3:37Speaker 2: Ruth?
- 3:38Speaker 3: Ruth, Ruth, what's her name?
- 3:39Speaker 2: Ruth? Gordon?
- 3:40Speaker 1: That god and she's delightful.
- 3:42Speaker 4: Got eighty Number four Jaws from nineteen seventy five. You
- 3:49Speaker 4: might not think of that as a horror movie, but
- 3:50Speaker 4: it's it's scary. Number three Psycho of course, Salfred Hitchcock.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Psycho still one of my favorites, which.
- 4:00Speaker 4: Maybe you go back and revisit after all the ed
- 4:02Speaker 4: Gen stuff that's coming out, because there's a whole part
- 4:05Speaker 4: of that ed Gen Netflix series where they talk about
- 4:09Speaker 4: how it inspired that among them.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Like they have an actor playing Tony Perkins.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Oh so that's not it's not the documentary one.
- 4:18Speaker 4: It's the it's the one with Charlie ummon hum hummaa
- 4:23Speaker 4: okay uh. Number two, The Exorcist, It's it's still scary.
- 4:29Speaker 2: I would maybe put that number one. You know. Part
- 4:32Speaker 2: of the reason it's so scary is that they're all
- 4:34Speaker 2: those effects are practical effects that they do there, and
- 4:38Speaker 2: many of them are dangerous.
- 4:40Speaker 1: I remember when I was a kid, I saw it
- 4:41Speaker 1: and it scared me. But that was back when I
- 4:44Speaker 1: was superstitious. Now that you're not, now that I'm not,
- 4:47Speaker 1: it doesn't scare me. Even like the voice. The voice
- 4:50Speaker 1: is a scared I like the voice, and I like
- 4:53Speaker 1: the shot of the the demon face. Yeah, that's pretty cool.
- 4:57Speaker 2: What's what scares me about it? And scared me at
- 4:59Speaker 2: the time, And scare scares me now is that it
- 5:02Speaker 2: is such a pathetic. It's so pathetic. What happens? It's
- 5:06Speaker 2: a little girl?
- 5:07Speaker 4: Yeah, and number one again back to the ed geen stuff.
- 5:14Speaker 4: Texas Chainsaw Masacre, the original one from nineteen seventy four.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Toby Hooper, Am I the only one that feels a
- 5:23Speaker 2: little bad for a leather face? Yes, when she's standing
- 5:27Speaker 2: there at the remainers, escape and everything, and he's standing
- 5:32Speaker 2: there with his chainsaw going, and I feel really bad
- 5:37Speaker 2: for him.
- 5:37Speaker 4: Somehow we interviewed who's the guy that plays leather Face?
- 5:43Speaker 3: Didn't we have him on the show?
- 5:44Speaker 1: Once we had one of the leather faces on the show,
- 5:47Speaker 1: I felt like I've got an autograph somewhere.
- 5:49Speaker 3: Oh, are there more than one?
- 5:50Speaker 1: Well, there were a bunch of them. Yeah, there were
- 5:52Speaker 1: like two or three different people from different iterations of.
- 5:55Speaker 2: That played it.
- 5:56Speaker 4: Because he's a big, big dude, big dude. Yeah, I
- 6:00Speaker 4: feel like it was him. I feel it's not set
- 6:04Speaker 4: Bill Quick crying at Texas.
- 6:05Speaker 3: Jean Ze mans Ah, that's number one.
- 6:09Speaker 1: So there, Halloween, it's still a classic.
- 6:14Speaker 3: It's on the list.
- 6:15Speaker 1: I can it's on the list, but it's not in
- 6:17Speaker 1: the top ten. But apparently the guy who played well,
- 6:21Speaker 1: I should say the guy that played Michael Myers. Apparently
- 6:24Speaker 1: there were like five of them and it was whoever
- 6:27Speaker 1: was on set that day. Oh, just yeah, you got
- 6:30Speaker 1: you go put the mask on. Well, what's my motivation? Nothing,
- 6:35Speaker 1: You're just.
- 6:35Speaker 2: To kill people, that's your motivation.
- 6:37Speaker 1: That's your motivation.
- 6:38Speaker 4: I still think that's one of the scariest movies, just
- 6:41Speaker 4: because they did stuff in the daylight any and even
- 6:45Speaker 4: that was scary.
- 6:46Speaker 1: One of my favorite things is when he's uh, I
- 6:51Speaker 1: forgot the actress name, Donald Pleasants is standing out on
- 6:55Speaker 1: the street talking and and behind him a car drives
- 6:58Speaker 1: by and Michael Myers is driving the car. How did
- 7:04Speaker 1: he learn.
- 7:05Speaker 2: How to drive?
- 7:06Speaker 4: He was incarcerated when he was a child.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Yeah, he can't overthink it. Leather Face Gunner Hanson, Bill Johnson, r.
- 7:16Speaker 3: A gunner, That's who it was, Robert.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Jacks, Andrew Brearnski, Dan Jeager, Sam Strike, Mark Burnham.
- 7:22Speaker 4: I think you have Gunner Hanson's Hanson because you had
- 7:26Speaker 4: a little, a little chance.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Michael Myers portrayed by Nick Castle, Dick Warlock, Tony Morgan,
- 7:34Speaker 1: George pe Wilburg. Yeah, just there's just a long list
- 7:37Speaker 1: of people who have portrayed Michael.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Myers, and Dead Alive gave us the classic line, and
- 7:43Speaker 2: I remember this now, I kick ass for the Lord.
- 7:47Speaker 3: Somebody has to.
- 7:50Speaker 2: What was it called? What was it called? It wasn't
- 7:52Speaker 2: called debt Dead Alive? And when it when it was
- 7:55Speaker 2: released in New Zealand and I had a different title.
- 8:00Speaker 1: I just know what I saw here on the VHS.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't. I don't know if they ever played
- 8:06Speaker 2: in theaters here.
- 8:08Speaker 1: It might have. I wasn't aware of it. But there
- 8:11Speaker 1: you go.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Something to brain dead, that's what it was called.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Something to watch tonight while you're doing the trick or
- 8:18Speaker 1: treating thing.
- 8:20Speaker 2: I'm surprised that basket Case isn't on this list anywhere.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Basket Case is a delightful little what's that one about?
- 8:26Speaker 2: It's a worm? Yeah, it's a worm that from outer space.
- 8:31Speaker 2: That that that it's called the Elmer.
- 8:34Speaker 1: He plugs into your brain and takes over your body. Scary,
- 8:39Speaker 1: but you're okay with it because he injects like this
- 8:43Speaker 1: drug into you, so you you don't mind.
- 8:46Speaker 2: That's okay. Yeah, you're okay, aren't you, Brian?
- 8:50Speaker 1: You're enjoying this aren't you let me crawl up on
- 8:53Speaker 1: your neck there, Brian, I still haven't seen it's alive.
- 8:58Speaker 1: I've been meaning to what is that?
- 9:00Speaker 3: What is that?
- 9:01Speaker 1: That's the baby. That's a monster. It's a monster baby.
- 9:07Speaker 3: It's a law from nineteen seventy four.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I meant to see it, but I never got
- 9:11Speaker 1: around to it.
