#259: Tokyo Gore Police (2008) - Tubi or Not to Be · What's Your (Least) Favorite Scary Movie?

• 0:06
Hello, what's your least favorite scary movie?
• 0:10
Also, the Japanese Arnie has been privatized.
• 0:13
Welcome to What's Your Least Favorite Scary Movie?
• 0:15
The podcast where we talk about the goods, about the ugly and
• 0:18
the absurd and all of our favorite and least favorite
• 0:20
scary movies. Because we believe every horror
• 0:22
movie rightfully has is fan base.
• 0:24
Even if we don't always get it. My name is Travis.
• 0:27
My name is Jesse. And welcome.
• 0:29
Yeah, you want to do this? Sorry, I figured you do all the
• 0:31
two of these. I always do go.
• 0:33
Go, go, go. And welcome back to another
• 0:35
live, uncut and mostly undrawn bonus episode of To Be or Not To
• 0:41
Be. This is our monthly bonus series
• 0:44
where we discuss some of the perhaps hidden treasures that
• 0:49
the free streaming services of today have to offer.
• 0:53
Yeah. And as you can tell, I know that
• 0:55
it because the little gap we had right there.
• 0:58
But yeah, we have a weird 1 today.
• 1:02
Yeah, we've got a lot to talk. About a lot to unpacks.
• 1:08
This is my month and I chose Tokyo Gore Police for this
• 1:13
month's to be movie. And you might remember us having
• 1:17
a brief discussion about it a few weeks back.
• 1:20
It was one of the movies that you had picked as a comparison
• 1:23
  for 2008. Yeah, I can't remember which
• 1:26
movie it was. I can't remember either.
• 1:27
I'd have to go back and look at our schedule.
• 1:29
Yeah, You know, we kind of mentioned that some of our
• 1:32
friends really hyped it up and yeah, luckily we had them there
• 1:36
as like emotional support. We were watching this last
• 1:39
night. Yeah, no, we it was it was in
• 1:41
the back of my mind because of that.
• 1:43
I I've been aware of this one for a minute.
• 1:45
I just haven't really pulled the trigger on it because it seemed
• 1:48
like it was going to be a weird one when they have to be
• 1:50
  prepared for. And I don't think if I don't
• 1:53
think you can ever fully prepare for what this movie is like.
• 1:58
I, I, I'm still processing it. I will like continue to
• 2:03
processing this for some time I'm sure.
• 2:05
Yeah, I definitely. I want to watch it again without
• 2:10
taking notes. Yeah, and I'd love to watch it
• 2:12
like with subtitles. I wanna watch that.
• 2:14
Yeah, we watched the dub version so that yeah, this is a Japanese
• 2:19
movie, obviously, but yeah, there's an English dub version
• 2:22
on Tubi if you guys don't like doing subtitles, but I would
• 2:25
like to listen to the Japanese version with the subtitles.
• 2:28
Yeah, the the voice actress for the most part, I think were
• 2:31
pretty good, but there were some that were kind of distracting.
• 2:34
Yeah, yeah. It was kind of like an anime.
• 2:37
Yeah, which? Definitely sums up this movie in
• 2:39
  general, really. I mean, it's basically we're
• 2:42
watching a live action anime. If so, if that tickles your
• 2:45
fancy, you know, head on over to Tubi before we get into the
• 2:49
breakdown of this and watch it and then come back.
• 2:51
Yep. But if you want to brave its
• 2:54
journey with us, or if you already have, let's fucking go
• 2:57
for it then. And I'm just going to pause it
• 3:00
this now, I think this is one of those that you can hear what's
• 3:03
going to happen and it still won't prepare you for watching
• 3:07
  it. Yeah, no, you have.
• 3:08
It's a sight to behold. We will say things in this
• 3:12
episode that you will be questioning.
• 3:14
You just have to see it like it's legitimately one of those
• 3:17
  movies. One word allegusi.
• 3:22
And that's not even the weirdest thing.
• 3:25
Yeah, it's it goes to. Your place so see hard.
• 3:28
You did, but I mean, it's true. I mean, we get that and put two
• 3:34
and two together, people you, you know what she's talking
• 3:36
about. OK, so are we ready to just roll
• 3:41
into this because we don't have anything extra?
• 3:44
It's A to be or not to be. Correct.
• 3:45
Yeah, let's just let's just go for it.
• 3:47
OK so Tokyo Gore Police released October 3rd 2008.
• 3:53
We watched it on Tubi. But if you prefer to not watch
• 3:57
it on Tubi, you have options. You can watch it on Shutter, AMC
• 3:59
Plus or Voodoo. You can rent it at Fandango at
• 4:04
home. OK, This movie was written by
• 4:08
Yoshihiro Nishimura, directed by Oh man, I really fucked up my
• 4:15
writing here. Hold on, let me pull it up on
• 4:17
the page and I got a my my handwriting is felling me right
• 4:22
  here. Written by into the.
• 4:24
Club. Yeah, it's live, so I'm really
• 4:27
  feeling the pressure. OK.
• 4:28
It's written by Kingo Kachi, Maki Mizu and Yoshihiro
• 4:33
Nishimura. OK, Yeah, so the director there
• 4:36
  too. Nice.
• 4:36
All right, I always like it when that happens.
• 4:39
Music by Kao Nakam Nakagawa and special effects makeup by
• 4:45
Suyoshi Kazuno who did the video effects and NMPMMG which is a
• 4:51
studio that did the molds in this movie.
• 4:55
And they probably had their hands full.
• 4:57
Yeah. Or not, I don't know, like
• 4:59
Japan, like, I don't want to like, I don't mean this
• 5:02
disrespectfully, but they have some weird stuff over there and
• 5:06
this might be normal. Like a normal like, yeah.
• 5:08
But it's still a lot to do. Like there were, there were a
• 5:11
lot of prosthetics to make. To us, this was like a one.
• 5:14
This is a life changing experience.
• 5:16
  To them. It was Tuesday.
• 5:17
  Maybe, maybe not, I don't know. I don't know.
• 5:20
  Yeah, I mean, well, I don't know.
• 5:22
There's some weird shit that comes out of Japan, but that's
• 5:24
just about any place, really. They have a reputation now.
• 5:28
OK so I got a cast starring Ihishina as Ruka and if that
• 5:38
sounds familiar that is the lady from Audition.
• 5:44
So yes that one. It's Yuji Itao as key man and
• 5:51
his father. Oh, he is called key man.
• 5:54
Yeah, that's his name, Key man. And then he's also the dad.
• 5:58
And then Yukihide Benny as chief.
• 6:02
OK. And I had other people, but I
• 6:05
didn't have pictures. And I just, you know, there's so
• 6:09
many weird, wacky characters. I don't.
• 6:10
Those are the three main people you really need to worry about.
• 6:12
This this is the first time watching.
• 6:14
The only other name that I think I really caught was Yoshioka.
• 6:18
Yoshioka. Was like working in the lab with
• 6:20
the key man. OK, she, well, she's the
• 6:23
  Allegusi. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 6:26
  Yeah. It's just, yeah, there's a
• 6:28
there's a lot of faces, a lot of names, and I didn't get a lot of
• 6:32
pictures of the faces with the names in the IMDb, so I just
• 6:35
didn't know who was who and who was important.
• 6:38
Yeah. So yeah, that's the cast that we
• 6:40
got here. All right, time for our favorite
• 6:41
  game on the show. Budget.
• 6:43
  Or budget. Why?
• 6:45
Do you always fuck it up on the TV that's on the episodes?
• 6:48
123 Budget or but it. Doesn't feel so good, does it?
• 6:55
I think I played off of that pretty well though 'cause I let
• 6:57
you do the OR and then we came in together.
• 7:00
Army right there. That was a fucking like.
• 7:02
That was a composition. OK, So what?
• 7:05
What's your answer? Oh, I'm gonna say that this is a
• 7:09
This is a bug, Theodore. A bug Theodore, that's like.
• 7:14
That's the midpoint between Bug Ted and budget.
• 7:17
No, I was just being very formal about the bug teddiness of.
• 7:21
It yeah, I don't have any figures for this movie.
• 7:23
  It's Yeah. There's nothing.
• 7:25
Not I'll gross, not a budget, nothing.
• 7:28
There's a gross. This movie is gross.
• 7:32
  Yeah. I got an IMDb.
• 7:34
Fuck me, I can't talk today. IMDb score.
• 7:37
  It's 5.9. Fucking rude.
• 7:40
  You think it's rude? Yeah.
• 7:41
Wow. OK, I'm curious to know why you
• 7:42
rated this. I I looked at you so many times
• 7:45
last night, and I was kind of like trying to gauge how you
• 7:48
  were feeling about it. I.
• 7:49
Was taking a lot of notes. I just saw a lot of shaking
• 7:52
heads and I'm like, is that good?
• 7:55
  Bad. I don't know what's happening.
• 7:56
Like what what do you think about it?
• 7:58
I I still don't know how I feel about it.
• 8:01
OK, so I have a theme of three movies I released in 2008.
• 8:06
OK, these are all movies that are going to make you feel
• 8:10
  uncomfortable. OK, OK.
• 8:13
OK, so the first movie we have not seen this but I could see it
• 8:18
maybe sometime down the line. It's a little movie from Frank
• 8:22
Hennon Water who did basket case Frank and Hooker.
• 8:25
Classic such as that. It's called bad biology.
• 8:29
Now I've heard of what? About Frank Hennon water I think
• 8:32
probably is bad at biology. Well OK so the premise of this
• 8:36
movie is 2 people fall in love because of a shared feature that
• 8:45
they have and that is mutated genitalia.
• 8:49
OK. So yeah, I've seen like some
• 8:54
things from it and I've heard a lot about it.
• 8:56
It sounds like a very strange movie.
• 8:58
It's very hen and lottery from the.
• 8:59
Sounds. Yeah, I was gonna say that
• 9:01
sounds like hen and lottery. Yeah, for sure.
• 9:04
So that released April 4th, 2008.
• 9:06
No budget, no gross. IMDb is a 4.7 though.
• 9:10
OK. So yeah, people feel kind of
• 9:12
about it. That's kind of his stuff in
• 9:14
  general, I think. Yeah.
• 9:15
All right, movie #2 you'll agree with me on this one.
• 9:19
Eden Lake. Now that is one of the most
• 9:24
  discomfortable, uncomfortable movies.
• 9:26
My mom is an avid listener of the podcast.
• 9:29
Hi, Mom. And she like there's some movies
• 9:32
that she's just like, I want to watch it before I listen to you
• 9:34
guys discuss it. And I remember when we opened up
• 9:37
with Eden Linger, like you should probably watch this so we
• 9:39
don't spoil anything. But also this is like a movie I
• 9:42
never want to watch again. And so she's still scared to
• 9:46
watch it herself. Oh, come on, you can do it.
• 9:48
Anybody can do it. It's got Michael Fassbender in
• 9:51
it, if that's a draw for anybody.
• 9:54
I'm scared of teenagers. Yeah, it's, it's like teenagers.
• 9:58
That's what that's played at one of my like, bassist fears.
• 10:03
  It's it's a good movie though. It's great at what it's trying.
• 10:07
To do. It's a good movie, yeah.
• 10:08
It's just I never would watch it again.
• 10:09
  OK. It released September 12th,
• 10:11
2008. Don't have the budget but the
• 10:14
worldwide gross was $4 million. OK.
• 10:17
IMDb 6.7 OK. Yeah, pretty good.
• 10:21
All right, In the final movie, Martyrs.
• 10:25
OK, Yeah. That released September 3rd,
• 10:28
  2008 with a $3,000,000 budget, $1 million gross, and a 7 out of
• 10:33
10 on IMDb. We've talked about all of these
• 10:37
except for Bad biology on the show, so if you want to know our
• 10:40
thoughts on those, go listen. I will warn you though, Eden
• 10:42
likes a very early episode, so I always like to warn people about
• 10:46
the early episodes of US. Yeah.
• 10:48
Clearly you're listening now, so you know what the show is today,
• 10:51
but we were a little bit different back then, Yeah.
• 10:53
So still figuring things out still.
• 10:54
Figuring things out and martyrs I have a lot of complicated
• 10:58
feelings about SO. Yeah, it's a strange movie.
• 11:00
Yeah. OK, so I got tag lines.
• 11:02
Tag lines. OK, the first one, strap
• 11:08
yourselves in, because things are about to get very, very
• 11:11
bloody and very, very strange, OK?
• 11:15
But what's the tagline? I think that that is one of the
• 11:20
most honest taglines I've. Ever seen?
• 11:23
From a movie. Like it's it's the same spectrum
• 11:28
but different end of the spectrum is like last house on
• 11:31
the left. Just keep telling yourself it's
• 11:33
  only a movie. It's only a movie.
• 11:34
It's only a movie. Yeah, I was also, I think, up
• 11:37
there with pieces like it's exactly what you think of this.
• 11:41
I think that they could have used that for this movie and it
• 11:43
would have fit just perfectly. OK, the second one, somebody's
• 11:47
got a body job to do. Like I heard that Australian in
• 11:53
my head. Was it because I said it it?
• 11:56
Was bloody. Oh, somebody's got a bloody job
• 11:58
to do. That wasn't too bad.
• 12:01
I surprised myself with that. Yeah, that might actually be
• 12:04
your best Australian accent so far.
• 12:06
In the final, Tokyo is burning. OK, it kind of is yeah, it's
• 12:12
going to shit over there. And this would be it's a crazy
• 12:15
little place. OK, so we don't do fun facts on
• 12:21
To Be or Not to Be's. However, we did, like Jesse
• 12:24
said, let her friends know that we were watching this and they
• 12:28
gave support. And we also had our buddy Chad
• 12:31
Bobby, patron of the show Game. He gave us some insight on some
• 12:36
of the stuff of this movie. He mentioned that it was the
• 12:40
director's first film and quote, the whole fucking thing was shot
• 12:46
in two weeks. I shit you not.
• 12:48
I'm pretty obsessed with that masterpiece.
• 12:51
That's what she had. So he's he's really passionate
• 12:56
about this movie. A lot of people are really
• 12:57
passionate about it whenever we brought this up.
• 13:00
So yeah, it's I think that's impressive for a first movie.
• 13:05
Yeah, I think when I opened up the discussion last night, I
• 13:07
said no spoilers. But what even the fuck is
• 13:10
happening in Tokyo? Gore police and Joe also as a
• 13:14
  patient. Yeah, said everything.
• 13:18
Which was again a great answer so.
• 13:21
  Not inaccurate. I also.
• 13:22
Can't believe considering all the things that happened in this
• 13:25
movie. It was shot in two weeks.
• 13:27
I know how. How does that even happen?
• 13:30
  Man. OK, so let's go.
• 13:33
Oh wait, no, I got to tell why I.
• 13:35
  Picked this? Yes.
• 13:35
Why did you pick this? Well, I love Japanese horror and
• 13:40
I don't feel like we really talked a lot about that sub
• 13:43
genre on the show, so I wanted to bring some of that in.
• 13:47
And I've also realized last night that I've just suddenly
• 13:51
been in like a very big mood for Japanese or Asian horror, I
• 13:55
should say. Because my other movie this
• 13:56
month is going to be The Sadness.
• 13:59
But he had originally thrown out the possibility of viewing.
• 14:02
Auditions, which we got the actor from that and this still.
• 14:06
So I, you know, I got that much at least and I this is a cold
• 14:11
horror movie. I've seen a lot of discussion
• 14:13
online. It's always hyped up as being
• 14:16
this weird watching experience, but everybody always says that
• 14:20
it's amazing. So I was really curious and I,
• 14:24
and especially after talking about it with people last month,
• 14:27
I really just wanted this is the time, Yeah.
• 14:30
And whenever I saw that there was an English dub version on
• 14:33
Tubi. Because it's hard to do a movie
• 14:36
that you've not seen before and have to read subtitles and take
• 14:39
notes at the same time. Yeah, so wait, we're fans of
• 14:42
  subtitled movies? Yeah, here.
• 14:43
It's just, if it's a first watch especially, it makes it a lot
• 14:47
harder. I mean the Sadness next month or
• 14:50
  next. Week is.
• 14:50
It's gonna be subtitled, and it's still gonna be tricky, but
• 14:53
at least we have the benefit of having seen.
• 14:55
It yeah. So, yeah, that's the reason why
• 14:58
I chose this one. OK, All right, so let's get into
• 15:01
our good, bad, ugly and absurd. Jesse, what did you like about
• 15:04
it? So it just, it takes no
• 15:08
  prisoners. I think that's, I think that's
• 15:11
like a literally awesome way to go into this.
• 15:14
That's exactly the attitude that they have in this.
• 15:16
  Movie, yeah, No. Prisoners, No.
• 15:17
Prisoners. And unfortunately the it's a
• 15:21
very like prescient point of taking government agencies and
• 15:25
talking about the possible negative effects of privatizing
• 15:28
them. I don't want to talk about that
• 15:30
too much right now. I I'm this close to throwing
• 15:34
away my phone. Yeah, in an effort of being
• 15:36
informed but also being sane. So I think that that's like, I
• 15:41
think it's really nice that they touch upon.
• 15:44
That's such a huge piece of this.
• 15:46
Yeah, I love the I love it when a movie understands that it's
• 15:52
science doesn't have to make sense.
• 15:54
Like we're in make believe land here.
• 15:56
You know, it's not like I'm going to touch you with this
• 15:59
ooey gooey tumor and like a little key holes don't pop up on
• 16:03
  your arm. That's cool.
• 16:04
The term that we've saw in the drinking game is Gorky.
• 16:07
Yeah, and I told Travis that we're the next animal.
• 16:10
We adopt her name in Gorky. Gorky.
• 16:14
That little animal is going to be cursed.
• 16:16
Oh my God, let's get a corgi. Gorky the Corgi.
• 16:19
  The corgi. Oh man.
• 16:22
And people, would you come up with that name?
• 16:24
Well, well. Yeah, we got homework for you.
• 16:28
  Watch this movie. Yeah.
• 16:30
I I the effects are just fucking amazing.
• 16:33
Yeah, I I if anything, I think the only effects I really didn't
• 16:37
like were the gunshot blast effects.
• 16:38
They were kind of similar to last month's 2B movie, An
• 16:42
Octagame. So it's like the same like we're
• 16:44
going to. Have we're bringing it?
• 16:49
I am surprised at the amount of people that have listened to
• 16:52
that episode. I know all the way and people
• 16:57
that I'm sorry for the people that actually watched it.
• 16:59
We had some people like comment saying that I watched all of
• 17:03
that. I'm like and I had to apologize
• 17:05
  to them afterwards. It was.
• 17:07
One of those few movies that we were like, no, listen to us
• 17:09
first and then decide if you want to watch it.
• 17:11
Yeah. Which, you know, I can't.
• 17:13
I get that that Yeah, most times when people are watching or
• 17:17
listen to the episode, they've already watched.
• 17:18
The movie, so sorry. Everybody again.
• 17:23
Yeah, No, I just, I, I think the effects are amazing.
• 17:25
I think the storyline is like, I mean, it's very like Tales all
• 17:31
this time. It's just, it's a revenge story,
• 17:33
  you know? I think.
• 17:35
What is her name again? Her name?
• 17:39
I think Ishina, she is just amazing like.
• 17:43
She's really talented. Even when she's not speaking,
• 17:46
like just the way she moves her body, she is like fluid.
• 17:49
Yeah, it's really awesome watching her.
• 17:53
I just, I really, I, I believe my closing statements on the
• 17:59
movie last night where that was absolutely deranged and goddamn
• 18:02
beautiful. And that's, that's what you
• 18:04
said. That's how I feel about it.
• 18:06
Yeah, OK, so I I think this movie has a lot of style, which
• 18:14
I think is cool. It definitely is its own thing.
• 18:18
Like you don't. We watch a lot of movies here
• 18:22
and I don't know if I've ever seen a movie like this before.
• 18:26
It really did achieve something that I didn't think that you can
• 18:29
make movies like a live action movie be an anime.
• 18:33
But like, I swear to God, we were watching one last night and
• 18:37
I mean, storylines, characters, dialogue, everything, it just
• 18:41
hit that so hard. And I think that that was really
• 18:44
cool and it was really impressive that they were able
• 18:47
to pull it off. Like with the effects and
• 18:50
everything too. Like they go out there with it.
• 18:52
This is going to be really weird, but like one of my
• 18:54
favorite effects that like the non prosthetic effect was when
• 18:59
she finds a key man and like she touches the one lock and all of
• 19:04
them around the door fall. Yeah, I loved that moment.
• 19:07
That was really, yeah. Yeah, and also, I love surreal
• 19:12
horror movies, and this is so fucking surreal.
• 19:15
Oh, God. Wait, we got to pause.
• 19:17
Hold on one second. Sorry about that.
• 19:19
We have to tell you I was trying to do something we had to put a
• 19:22
  stop to. That we heard.
• 19:23
We heard a little mischievous jingling outside the door.
• 19:26
OK. Anyways, I was saying it.
• 19:28
It's really fucking surreal and I like that.
• 19:31
I like whenever I am confused and I don't understand what is
• 19:35
  happening. I I didn't, I understood the
• 19:38
  story. I didn't necessarily know
• 19:40
everything that was happening, but it was enough for me to
• 19:43
  follow along, which I appreciated.
• 19:45
Tatsuo I've seen multiple Times Now and I still can't tell you
• 19:51
  what the plot is. Probably.
• 19:55
I could break it down. Don't worry people.
• 19:58
We will talk about that one day. I'm I'm very much looking
• 20:01
forward to that episode. I just we needed to tackle this
• 20:06
one first to see if we can like maybe like touch that type of
• 20:09
material. If we handle this one OK, I
• 20:11
think we can do tesua. Give us the numbers on this
• 20:13
people. So yeah, it like, but I love
• 20:17
  that. I love surreal horror.
• 20:18
I love being put in this position where like I just don't
• 20:22
really know what the fuck is happening and it's unsettling at
• 20:25
  times. It's interesting.
• 20:29
I feel like it has a message to it because of, you know,
• 20:34
definitely with the way that the police is, like, overly brutal
• 20:38
and like they're celebrating it as a society.
• 20:42
Like, it's almost like brutality has become so normalized and
• 20:46
almost encouraged. And then it's not even talking
• 20:51
about the advertisements on the TV where there's people self
• 20:55
  harming. Yeah, there's like people
• 20:58
selling products with the intention for you to like cut
• 21:02
yourself and stuff, which it's very, very strange, but.
• 21:06
I think there's also something too, about the messaging of
• 21:08
like, oh, well, this is just your genes.
• 21:10
It makes you bad. It makes you do bad things.
• 21:12
But like, Ruka, then she's like, yeah, maybe I've been injected
• 21:16
with this thing, but I am still who I am.
• 21:18
I'm still a police officer. Yeah, that was interesting.
• 21:21
It was like almost like a thing, like power corrupts.
• 21:26
  Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
• 21:28
Yeah, like, she, like she, she got a taste of power and she was
• 21:31
still able to stay the same because she was a good person.
• 21:34
But like, I guess when these people like, what was it trying
• 21:38
to say? They were just corrupted by the
• 21:41
power that they got. Well, like, especially because
• 21:43
like it was literally like it was serial killer jeans.
• 21:46
So I feel like sometimes people are like, Oh well, they're just
• 21:49
like bad. It's just in their jeans.
• 21:51
They're like, sometimes people use that as like, yeah, a cop
• 21:55
out to not try and fight those elements of them.
• 21:59
And I'm not saying that it's always easy, but like.
• 22:01
Use it as an excuse. Yeah, yeah, I see what you're
• 22:04
saying. So, yeah, it's it's just God,
• 22:09
  that's that's so that's what I got to say.
• 22:11
Good about it right there. All right.
• 22:12
So what about? What about some?
• 22:15
Ads I yeah, some of the the voice over dubbing was a little
• 22:20
distracting, especially like the child voice that they've tried
• 22:25
to do. This is only a problem for the
• 22:27
  English version. I don't know.
• 22:29
We can't speak on the original. Version, yeah.
• 22:32
But I mean, it's just it was a part of my viewing experience,
• 22:34
so I feel the need to bring that up.
• 22:37
And like I said, the the little gunshot effects, those were kind
• 22:40
of distracting to me. And I know some of the effects
• 22:44
were very much over the top. Like we see her dad get shot in
• 22:46
the head and it like explodes. Like.
• 22:49
That's not how that would work. But you know, I was fine with
• 22:53
it. Yeah, I was fine with that.
• 22:54
It was just really like when we had like the also, I can't call
• 22:59
  them the Tokyo Police Corporation.
• 23:01
I keep want to call. I keep wanting to call them
• 23:03
Tokyo Police Club. And Oh yeah, your English is
• 23:07
good. It hasn't stuck in my head since
• 23:08
  this night. You.
• 23:10
Want to put that in that OK that way it's not on the table let's.
• 23:14
Try it up anyway. OK, Yeah, so he's he was
• 23:18
referring to my lip stain. I peeled it off when we started
• 23:21
talking. I don't like to look at it, it's
• 23:24
weird me out, so I put it behind the computer.
• 23:28
But yeah, those are like the main things.
• 23:30
Like, I don't know why the gunshots bothered me when other
• 23:34
things didn't, but yeah. And also, no, you know what?
• 23:39
No, I'm saving that from my absurd.
• 23:41
I'm saving that from my absurd. There we go.
• 23:42
Those are my bads. OK, my bad.
• 23:47
Look, I like how this movie is strange, but I I gotta say,
• 23:52
sometimes it gets a little too weird and I like I generally was
• 23:57
singing that last night. I was like this going maybe too
• 23:59
far. It's getting it gets really,
• 24:02
really fucking strange and it almost feels like for the sake
• 24:05
of being weird at times, like they're really trying to like
• 24:08
ramp it up and be like as out there as they can be.
• 24:13
I don't know, I don't know. And there was a purpose to it.
• 24:16
It just felt like it was like this is this is getting too
• 24:18
weird. I'm curious to hear your moments
• 24:20
where you feel that way. I think the biggest part is when
• 24:27
they're at the strip club and they're showing off all of like
• 24:30
  the people. Yeah.
• 24:32
It's like a BDSM club, though. Yeah.
• 24:34
And I feel like that makes sense in a world where you have these
• 24:36
  engineers. Like.
• 24:37
I feel like it makes sense that like Rule 34, like, yeah, that's
• 24:41
for the Internet, but it's also for the world at large, you know
• 24:44
  what I mean? Like.
• 24:45
I see what you're saying, but like, phrasing that as, Oh yeah,
• 24:49
it's a BDSM club, it's the biggest overstatement of like.
• 24:53
OK, but it's it's a BDSM club. And this dystopian, like,
• 24:58
science fiction future in Tokyo. You know what I mean?
• 25:01
  Like this. Yeah.
• 25:02
This feels like a natural conclusion.
• 25:04
Jesse, A person turns into a flesh chair and pisses all over
• 25:08
the entire audience and they go crazy for it.
• 25:11
  Hot. That's weird as fuck.
• 25:14
That goes like way beyond oh, it's a BDSM club.
• 25:19
A fucking chair peed on people. Like OK, flesh chair aside, like
• 25:24
some of these, some of the extreme mods and stuff that made
• 25:27
me think of American Mary. Yeah, no.
• 25:29
And I'm not like, I'm not going to shame people for like, body
• 25:34
modification. That's what they want to do.
• 25:35
But I, you know, like human chairs aren't a real thing.
• 25:38
So I feel like I can like, confidently say that was
• 25:40
strange. And I'm going to keep an eye out
• 25:42
for human chairs when we start covering Texas Chainsaw, OK?
• 25:47
What were your feelings? Human lampshades.
• 25:49
Well, they're not real people. This.
• 25:53
Charles, this wasn't a real person either.
• 25:55
In the the context of the movie, it was they were alive.
• 26:00
OK, what were my feelings about what?
• 26:03
The allegacy then, like you like.
• 26:07
Oh it was insane, but I loved it.
• 26:09
It made sense in the movie to me.
• 26:11
Yeah, it all of these things make sense in the movie, but it
• 26:14
just. It didn't feel over the top for
• 26:15
the sake of being over the top to me.
• 26:17
That didn't no like it wasn't above and beyond the rest of the
• 26:22
movie to me. OK, the the chair was too much.
• 26:28
That's all I got to say. The chair made me feel like it
• 26:32
was when they cuts to that chair silence everybody just like
• 26:37
stares at it. The movie is just like makes you
• 26:40
revel in this thing for like 10 solid seconds and then cheering
• 26:44
erupts and then it just pees every.
• 26:48
I swear to God that was something I never thought I
• 26:50
would say. But like, here we are, OK.
• 26:55
And also I think that it like, it gets a little bit hard to
• 27:00
follow at times. Like whenever we got to the end,
• 27:03
I was kind of confused about what was happening because we
• 27:07
had his like the sex worker that was like battling somebody.
• 27:13
I don't even know who she was fighting.
• 27:16
I think she was fighting. Wasn't she fighting the the bar
• 27:22
owner before the rest of the cops come and get her?
• 27:25
  Was she? I don't know.
• 27:26
I don't think so. I don't think that was her.
• 27:28
Oh no, she was fighting a short haired cop, right?
• 27:30
Yeah, yeah, I think that was just another cop.
• 27:33
OK. I just got lost, OK.
• 27:36
And there was I think there was too much happening, OK.
• 27:40
At the end of the movie, it really needed to like focus on a
• 27:44
thing. And it was like way too
• 27:46
scatterbrained at the end with its butt and too much action.
• 27:50
Like it was almost over stimulating.
• 27:53
OK, so OK, ugly. Definitely, like the whole
• 27:59
concept of like the privatizing of the police force and how
• 28:03
they're abusing their power and, you know, setting up like, like
• 28:09
they merked Ruka's dad because he wanted to keep the police
• 28:13
public. And he was like, basically like,
• 28:16
they, they were union busting, you know?
• 28:19
  Yeah. And so I think that's, that's
• 28:22
pretty ugly. And then, yeah, I'd say that was
• 28:27
like the biggest thing. Also the chiefs like slave.
• 28:35
They they call. I think she was credited as dog
• 28:38
lady. Yeah, and that's ugly too.
• 28:42
Yeah, that's another thing. Like what the fuck?
• 28:45
Yeah, like he just has this person prisoner that arms
• 28:50
chopped off, face destroyed and. Was the face even really
• 28:54
destroyed and just had a mask? We see the face later.
• 28:56
No, he pulls the Yeah, we see the face, and the face is like
• 28:59
it, like she has a big slash across her face that matches
• 29:03
what's on the mask. Yeah, yeah.
• 29:07
So yeah, like just general like corruption stuff.
• 29:12
For as far out as this movie is, it touches on some real world
• 29:15
  issues. Yeah, yeah.
• 29:20
I would have to say my ugly is just the glorification of self
• 29:26
harm that goes on in this universe.
• 29:30
They have fucking advertisements going on about people having,
• 29:33
like, razors and like, you can get them in this color.
• 29:35
You can get them in like, red, yellow, blue, whatever you want.
• 29:38
And then it's just like, it's a fun thing.
• 29:40
We have like dudes that are like, just so like, happy to
• 29:45
like, have like a samurai sword and just like, you know, cut
• 29:48
themselves with it. But some of those commercials
• 29:51
are kind of wacky, funny, over the top.
• 29:55
Like that one that was like a recruitment ad from the Tokyo
• 29:58
  police. Corps.
• 29:59
That one, I still don't know what the fuck was like.
• 30:01
There's. Cops just come out and just
• 30:03
shoot some kids and they're like, become a cop.
• 30:07
Oh, God, that's not even the one I was thinking of.
• 30:10
That one was weird, too. Yeah, they have like the kid,
• 30:15
they blow the kids head up. I think that they actually did
• 30:18
that. I don't think that they were
• 30:19
like they act. I think that they were like, OK,
• 30:21
like, you sign up to do this commercial, but we're blowing
• 30:24
your head up and the kids like, yeah, let's do it.
• 30:28
  Holy fucking shit. Yeah.
• 30:30
OK, so yeah, it's weird. All right, let's go into absurd.
• 30:34
OK, so there's a lot about this movie that I could say is
• 30:37
  absurd. Yeah, obviously.
• 30:38
And you're not gonna like the take that I go with on this.
• 30:42
Why are the cops just, like, chilling in a parking garage?
• 30:46
Like, yeah, that's weird, right? That's the headquarters.
• 30:50
And that has to be like more like a constraint of where they
• 30:53
had available to shoot. I have to assume that's what it
• 30:56
is, but like. They had so many parking.
• 30:59
  Garages. They had interiors, yeah.
• 31:02
I mean, it's like they weren't lacking variety in places to
• 31:05
shoot indoors. I think it was a creative
• 31:08
  decision. It's it's honestly it's.
• 31:11
I don't. There are a lot of other things
• 31:14
that I can like just accept as part of this universe.
• 31:17
But the like this corrupt Police Department, I don't think
• 31:21
they're just chilling in a parking garage.
• 31:24
Probably not, but I mean, then I mean that that's what is
• 31:27
happening. I guess one of the things that I
• 31:33
had here was the most grounding thing in this movie is the fact
• 31:38
  that I saw a McDonald's. I saw a McDonald's out there and
• 31:44
I was like that, that OK, we're I found something, something
• 31:48
that drew me back in you. Have a point to ground?
• 31:51
Too. Yeah, like, OK, so a McDonald's
• 31:53
does like we went from McDonald's just going in Tokyo
• 31:57
and then from then to now this is where we at.
• 32:01
I don't know if there is any correlation, but yeah, I also
• 32:05
have the ads because those things, the one that I was
• 32:09
thinking of that really had me like what the fuck was one of
• 32:12
the first ones, which was you don't want to kill yourself or
• 32:16
like it was like an anti like. Anti suicide.
• 32:18
Anti suicide ones like it's not cool or something like that.
• 32:21
But then like there's this guy that runs out to like go no, but
• 32:24
he's almost not important and he's covered in blue polka dots
• 32:27
and then he's in his underwear and.
• 32:29
Yeah, and there's somebody like watching from across the street.
• 32:32
I don't know it's. It was so weird and like it.
• 32:37
It made me laugh. It was actually really funny.
• 32:39
I feel like they were trying to go for like comedy with.
• 32:42
I think that was the moment where you first started to
• 32:46
crack. Watching this, I hear like
• 32:48
taking your little notes and you're like, this is weird, but
• 32:51
I'm feeling it. And we got to that and I just
• 32:53
heard you behind me. Go what?
• 32:57
I haven't known in here about us.
• 32:59
We'll get to there whenever we get to the coverage.
• 33:01
I don't even know. Oh, oh, God.
• 33:05
OK, yeah. So let's rate it eight.
• 33:14
  You're doing 8. I'm doing 8.
• 33:15
Wow, I did not expect an 8 from you on this.
• 33:18
I really like it. Wow, I'm gonna give it a 7.
• 33:21
Wow, I can't believe I'm giving it a higher rating than you.
• 33:24
I know I didn't expect that either, honestly.
• 33:27
Right 7.5. OK, 7.5 All right, so let's get
• 33:32
into this thing. OK, so we start off, we're at
• 33:36
like a Fair St. festival. I don't know, there's rides and
• 33:39
cotton candy and whatnot. And also a little girl voicing
• 33:43
over about how her dad was a hero and she looked up to him
• 33:46
and then we see her looking up to him as his head explodes.
• 33:49
So that's pretty dark. Then we cut 2 modern days, she's
• 33:53
sitting out in the car and there are cops outside swarming a
• 33:56
building. Yeah, they need to get Koji
• 33:58
Tanaka, age 29. He has kidnapped a woman and
• 34:01
barricaded himself inside of a building.
• 34:04
And then I wrote, oh, he's eating her special squad on job.
• 34:09
Woman cuts herself with a very dull box cutter.
• 34:13
Yeah, that's Ruka. Yeah, that's Ruka lady.
• 34:16
Here she, yeah, she's just cutting her arm and I didn't
• 34:20
  understand what was happening there.
• 34:21
Yeah. I thought that it was part of
• 34:23
the whole thing of like, you hurt yourself, you transform.
• 34:26
I thought she was gearing up for her transformation, but no,
• 34:29
she's just out there cutting herself.
• 34:30
Yep. But we have Koji up there.
• 34:34
He's going full weather face, he's got a chainsaw, he's doing
• 34:37
the dancing and then the police squad swarms in, they light him
• 34:43
up and they shoot his arm off. But guess what?
• 34:48
That chainsaw comes from within. Yes, because he grows one out of
• 34:53
his arm. And on top of that, he's like
• 34:56
Elastic Gal and he can just shoot that chain of song arm out
• 35:01
and cut off the heads of some of this special squad.
• 35:03
Oh, man, man. He goes to town.
• 35:05
He starts to widen them up. So then Ruka, like, here's all
• 35:09
the chaos going up there. So she gets out of the car,
• 35:12
grabs a bazooka, points it at the ground, shoots herself all
• 35:16
the way up to the top of the building.
• 35:18
Listen, it was the fastest way for her to get up there.
• 35:20
I'm surprised that we haven't had this in the Fast and Furious
• 35:22
  movie. Right.
• 35:24
I feel like Dom will do this in fast sex Part 2.
• 35:27
He will busy himself up to the top story of a building.
• 35:30
God, he better. I'm sure he will.
• 35:31
I'm sure we will get this. But she makes it up there, and
• 35:35
she has her Cortana, and she cuts off his arm.
• 35:40
And then she cuts him in half and then.
• 35:42
She cuts him in half. And then?
• 35:44
She takes like both his chainsaw arm and then the chancellor he
• 35:47
had before, and then she just starts dismembering him
• 35:49
  entirely. I mean, again, efficient.
• 35:53
Yes, Ruka is an efficient lady and I appreciate.
• 35:55
That about her, she has no emotion this entire time, she's
• 35:58
just blank faced. So we we found out that the
• 36:02
Tokyo police has been privatized and they are judge, jury and
• 36:07
executioner. So they see somebody committing
• 36:10
a mild crime and they shoot at them.
• 36:14
Yeah, a lot. I mean, it's just like a promo
• 36:16
video of them, like, hey, like we are this is for everybody's
• 36:20
best good. And then they just straight up
• 36:22
wipe this dude up and it's just like, we did it.
• 36:25
So Ruka brings the body of Koji to a medical examiner who has a
• 36:30
metal eye patch, which is pretty cool.
• 36:34
It's pretty cool, yeah. And he like pulls out a tumor
• 36:37
that's been cut in half. And when he puts it together, he
• 36:40
sees that it's a key. And that's where we get voice
• 36:42
over explaining that engineers, they're a group of people that
• 36:46
when they get injured, their body compensates by creating
• 36:51
weapons. And they all have a key shaped
• 36:54
tumor. And the only way to kill them is
• 36:56
to cut off the part that has been turned into a weapon and
• 37:00
cutting out the key. Yeah, yeah.
• 37:04
So fuck where we at. So Ruka goes to the bar.
• 37:09
She's still, she's still on duty though, so she just drinks some
• 37:11
orange juice. She's friends with the with the
• 37:14
bartender or the bar owner, I'm not sure.
• 37:16
But the the she had found her like, outside in an alleyway
• 37:20
many years ago, like cutting herself and crying.
• 37:22
And some too, like young guys harassing her and she like,
• 37:26
shoot her off and they've been friends since.
• 37:28
Yeah, Ruka is also classified as an engineer hunter, so that's
• 37:32
  her specialty as hunting engineers.
• 37:35
Yeah. So she gets a call to the
• 37:36
station and she arrives and it's just the chief there with Dog
• 37:41
Lady. And like, everybody's just cool
• 37:44
about this. About the fact that he has a
• 37:47
  dog, lady. Yeah.
• 37:49
That's not too surprising, considering everything that
• 37:53
happens in this movie, that's the least surprising thing.
• 37:58
I mean, I'm not saying it's the least surprising.
• 38:00
It's not the most surprising, but I wouldn't say it's the
• 38:02
least surprising either. I guess I don't know.
• 38:05
Yeah, I don't know if you can say anything.
• 38:07
It's like the least surprising thing about this movie.
• 38:10
But anyways, they approach her and then they pull out a
• 38:14
  birthday cake. It's her birthday.
• 38:16
  It's her birthday. It's a surprise party.
• 38:19
Yeah, and she also gets a merit badge second class for being
• 38:22
such a good engineer hunter. Yeah, she neutralized over 50
• 38:26
engineers, apparently. The chief has raised her as her
• 38:30
as his own after her dad was killed when she was a child.
• 38:33
And then we get a flashback to one of her birthdays before her
• 38:35
dad died. Like he comes in and he's got a
• 38:37
cake for her and it's all great, but the mom's crying at the
• 38:40
  counter and she's cutting herself.
• 38:42
Yeah, she's like, I can't take it anymore.
• 38:43
And she just keeps saying that over and over again.
• 38:46
Yeah, so that's that's dark. Ruka doesn't probably rightfully
• 38:51
doesn't maybe necessarily love birthdays anymore.
• 38:54
Yeah. Yeah, it's a dark time.
• 38:55
Yeah, so. We need now cut over to a
• 38:58
brothel and we see she's a pimp. She comes in there and.
• 39:03
  She well, it's a brothel, so she's a Madam.
• 39:05
She's a mad OK. The Madam steps in to collect
• 39:09
payment and says this one dude is going too long the first
• 39:13
  shot. Extension fee.
• 39:14
First shot we get at this place is a dildo just kind of whirling
• 39:18
on the bed. Yeah, it's just like going.
• 39:21
And yeah, so she gets another call.
• 39:24
And she goes upstairs, the sex worker does and she goes
• 39:27
upstairs and when she walks into the room we just see the back of
• 39:30
somebody and then them setting down a jar with AQ shaved tumor
• 39:34
in it. The Madam, she goes, she's like
• 39:38
walking around somewhere. She's just, you know, managing
• 39:41
her brothel. Yeah, she's, she's it's not easy
• 39:44
being in charge and she's got to do the work.
• 39:46
So she's walking around, she gets a call, she answers it,
• 39:50
puts her phone away. And then that's when she's
• 39:52
attacked in the bathroom and she's trying to tell the person
• 39:55
like, hey, we can work out a deal.
• 39:58
But that doesn't actually end up working out for her.
• 40:01
  She gets. Blood milk.
• 40:05
Yeah, like the guy has it. Think of like, no, hold on, I've
• 40:11
got the imagery. Think of like the little water
• 40:15
feeder that you give a hamster or a gerbil.
• 40:19
It's one of those tubes that he stabs her with to draw her
• 40:23
blood. Yeah, and he then takes her.
• 40:27
Does he chop her into pieces or does he just fold her body into
• 40:31
  a box? I think it's a little bit of A,
• 40:33
a little bit of B, because I don't think there are really any
• 40:36
bones left in her. So I assume like some cutting
• 40:40
had to happen to debone her. Yeah, I don't.
• 40:43
Yeah, I guess you're right. Yeah.
• 40:44
So she gets like jammed in a box then?
• 40:47
Yeah, we cut to the anti suicide PSA this.
• 40:50
Is the one yeah, Harak Kiri is suicide.
• 40:53
Is the message here Kiri Kiri, Kiri, Kiri, Kiri, kiri it's
• 40:58
suicide. Whatever this and my note just
• 41:02
says who the fuck is undies man? Multiple question marks.
• 41:06
He just like runs out there to like, don't do it.
• 41:09
Yeah. You know, honestly, I think that
• 41:13
that would be an effective. PSAI wish they had started
• 41:16
playing teenage suicide. Don't do it.
• 41:18
That's what I was thinking of, too.
• 41:19
Yeah. So Ruka's called in for a job
• 41:22
  again. Yeah, she's called in.
• 41:24
She sees the she sees the scene of the crime where the Madam was
• 41:29
pushed into the box and we see like a key has been carved into
• 41:35
her arm. And they're like, this is really
• 41:37
weird. Like, this is clearly the work
• 41:39
of an engineer, but they're, it's like they're toying with
• 41:43
us. So she gears up and goes to the
• 41:45
subway cuz I don't know, she's an engineer hunter.
• 41:48
I guess she just knows that that's where the engineer's
• 41:51
gonna be. She puts on a kimono and she has
• 41:54
what I think was a disguised as an umbrella.
• 41:59
Yep, that's exactly what it was. And it proves to be a very
• 42:03
effective weapon because while she's on the subway, some dude
• 42:07
just like starts grabbing her butt and I said break it off and
• 42:11
she heard me. She heard me through the screen.
• 42:14
She's. Like, man, this is Tokyo Gore
• 42:16
police. We don't break things off.
• 42:18
We cut them off or shoot them off or both.
• 42:22
  Or both. Yeah.
• 42:23
So she grabs him and she pulls him off the train like a teacher
• 42:27
taking a kindergartener to time out.
• 42:30
I thought nobody's like stops any.
• 42:32
Yeah, he's like, it wasn't me. And she was like, I literally
• 42:35
like grabbed your hand from my ass, like it was definitely you.
• 42:39
And she takes him outside and she said molestation is a crime.
• 42:44
She boops him with his with her umbrella for a second and then
• 42:47
she like she use it and cuts off both his hands.
• 42:50
Blood spray and everywhere. She then uses the umbrella part
• 42:54
to, you know, because it's raining blood now.
• 42:56
Yeah. And she just walks off.
• 42:58
  It's pretty badass. Yeah.
• 43:00
So she goes back to the subway. She falls asleep and she dreams
• 43:04
about her dad's death, and when she wakes up, she's looking into
• 43:09
the eyes of the man who murdered her father.
• 43:12
Yeah, just like sitting aside like on the cross and then she.
• 43:15
And he has Dicks carved into his face 'cause he fell asleep at
• 43:19
the party first. Yeah, they're they're keys, but
• 43:22
they look exactly like Dicks. Yeah.
• 43:25
So she gets up to walk to the other side of the train.
• 43:29
I think she's following. Yeah, she's following him, and
• 43:32
he has set up a little surprise for her 'cause he, he's a fan of
• 43:36
Michael Myers. He's like, you know, what's
• 43:37
really fun is like a little shrine.
• 43:40
Yeah, so here's baby bottles, fool.
• 43:43
  Yeah. And then here.
• 43:45
Here's the body bar. The Madam, all in the box.
• 43:48
I like how this was shot because you see him in the background
• 43:52
still just creeping, just walking around in the back.
• 43:54
And that was like a genuinely unsettling moment right there.
• 43:58
Yeah, yeah. I mean, that's that like nothing
• 44:00
  happens. There.
• 44:01
Well, yeah, nothing happens there, but she does follow him
• 44:04
off the subway and into an alley where they're fighting and he's
• 44:07
putting up a good fight. I don't know that she's
• 44:08
necessarily had such an intense fight before.
• 44:11
And unfortunately, when she cuts him across the face, she doesn't
• 44:16
critically wound him and said she gives him an opening to
• 44:19
transform because she, like, kind of cuts right halfway
• 44:21
across his face. And he just, like, wraps.
• 44:24
Yeah. And rips half his head off.
• 44:27
Yeah. And then it becomes like, he's
• 44:29
it's a brain. Yeah, he canonized.
• 44:32
Yeah, a brain with canonized. And it almost feels like, Oh my
• 44:40
God, the Tim Burton movie, The Martians.
• 44:44
Martians. Yes, the attack from Mars.
• 44:46
Attack from Mars? No, that's not the name of it.
• 44:50
  Yes, thank you. OK.
• 44:52
Yeah, I see what you're saying, except more cannony.
• 44:56
  Yeah. With more.
• 44:57
  Cannons. More cannons.
• 44:59
  Yeah, OK. Yeah.
• 45:01
Why? Couldn't I get I put the words
• 45:04
  in the wrong order? Cheese.
• 45:08
Yeah. And like they shoot, I don't
• 45:13
even really know what is shooting, but whatever it is, it
• 45:16
kind of it looks so. Fleshy yet sharp.
• 45:20
That's that's more than I need to know.
• 45:23
But yeah, she is trapped again. It's kind of like he's a
• 45:25
magician, you know, throwing knives at her on a spinning
• 45:27
board and she's just pinned there.
• 45:29
And then he comes over and he rubs this floppy little tumor on
• 45:33
her arm. And he said, and her arm
• 45:36
explodes open. And then he says, no, you're one
• 45:39
of us. Yeah, yeah, she got the key.
• 45:43
Yeah. So she wakes up the next morning
• 45:45
in the hospital. Yeah, the chief and another cop
• 45:48
are there, and they're like, all right, whenever you're ready,
• 45:51
come to the autopsy room because we need to find out who the fuck
• 45:54
  this guy was. Yep.
• 45:56
And so she goes down there and the Emmy is like, I mean, I
• 46:01
didn't find a key tumor. But since we have half his head
• 46:05
here and he's still walking around, I think it's pretty safe
• 46:08
to assume that he's an engineer. Yeah, yeah.
• 46:12
And then they noticed that Ruka is unsettled, like she's off her
• 46:17
game, so they send her home for rest for the rest of the day.
• 46:20
And then she goes to the bar and she pops.
• 46:22
  Sleep. Yeah.
• 46:24
So the bartender slips a bracelet on her wrist.
• 46:28
I don't. Was there importance to that?
• 46:30
So. No, that's how she got the
• 46:32
connection that she was in danger.
• 46:34
Later, yeah. It's like, I don't know exactly
• 46:36
what the bracelet like the lore behind the bracelet is, but
• 46:40
Ruka's got a bracelet and the bartender has one around her
• 46:43
  ankle. They're like tied together.
• 46:45
So this is one of the word like the morbidly weird things that I
• 46:48
was fascinated with. They have the top of the dude's
• 46:53
head and they just scan the top half and then the computer is
• 46:57
like running through a bunch of images to try and find the
• 47:00
bottom half. So we're just looking at the top
• 47:01
of this dude's deceased head. It's with like composites of all
• 47:05
of these other people beneath from like the nose down.
• 47:09
And it's so fucking weird. It's very mini game in a Mario
• 47:12
  world. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 47:14
It kinda is. But whenever I saw that, that
• 47:17
was another one of those things, The imagery was unsettling.
• 47:19
I was like, Oh my God, that's so fucking dark and weird, like,
• 47:24
and they find a match. Yeah.
• 47:25
And the chief starts to be like, hold it on a second.
• 47:29
Yeah, it's a 24 year old who died by suicide.
• 47:32
The chief seems a little bit more perturbed about it, but we
• 47:37
won't really fully understand until later.
• 47:39
Ruka gets a list of the labs associated with his college
• 47:42
because he went to an engineering school and he.
• 47:47
  She recognized him. Yeah, she.
• 47:48
She saw the dude there, too. And she's like.
• 47:50
She recognized the eyes. And the chief was like, oh, he
• 47:53
  recognizes that. She recognizes that.
• 47:56
So he starts to get concerned. So she gets the list of the labs
• 47:59
and she's calling all of them and all of them are showing are
• 48:02
saying that the number is out of service.
• 48:03
So she starts like going to the labs physically and finds them
• 48:08
like just coated in dust and ash.
• 48:12
We get another police recruitment ad featuring the
• 48:15
shooting of children. Oh my God.
• 48:17
Yep. That's the one that you were
• 48:18
talking about. That's like a serial killer runs
• 48:21
up with guns and starts shooting kids.
• 48:23
And then the cops are like, hey, we got this.
• 48:24
And they like, brutally kill him and they're like, we're here to
• 48:26
help. Yeah, It's like a thumbs up.
• 48:28
We can feel good. Promo huh?
• 48:31
We cut to a cop who goes to the BDSM club and he sees all the
• 48:38
dancers with like the extreme body mods and one of them we
• 48:42
know is Yoshioka, who had worked with Key Man in the labs 'cause
• 48:45
we'd seen Ruka had found her file and we know it's her
• 48:49
because of the gigantic stitching across the nipple area
• 48:55
  of her breastices. Yes, yes.
• 48:58
And she cores the Cop into the backroom.
• 49:02
But this is where we see all the and this.
• 49:04
Is an interesting methodology too that I think that they do
• 49:06
for like private dances in private rooms here because they
• 49:09
all have like numbers carved into them and.
• 49:11
  You like? Yeah.
• 49:12
Yeah. OK, let's let's run down the
• 49:14
types of people that we have in this scene.
• 49:16
So we have what was the first one?
• 49:17
The first one was her. She's got the like, just her
• 49:21
nipples are like that. Yeah, Barbie boobs.
• 49:24
Yes. So that was we have they.
• 49:27
Don't put nipples in areolas on Barbies.
• 49:29
That's that's fair snail girl woman with a snail shell on her
• 49:34
back and also like kind of like shelled nipples.
• 49:37
And like stocky eyes. Oh yeah, almost like Canon eyes,
• 49:42
but more like snail eyes. But yeah, but I feel like.
• 49:44
Think of Gary as a. Punch.
• 49:45
Yup, that's exactly who I thought of.
• 49:47
Yeah, I kind of wanted her to meow.
• 49:49
Meow. Oh my God, Gary's just like
• 49:52
  scow. Wasn't there 1/3?
• 49:57
There was. I didn't write it down to the
• 50:00
description of all of them. I didn't either, yeah.
• 50:04
There was a third and then we get to the chair.
• 50:07
And the show stops. It's a show stop for everybody's
• 50:10
just signed, that's why. It was the last curtain that got
• 50:12
pulled down. Yeah, and it just pees all over
• 50:16
everybody, and the crowd goes wild.
• 50:20
And I think the thing that is really unsettling about that for
• 50:22
me is like, it's silence, but you hear the heartbeats.
• 50:26
Yeah, you see the heart beating in the vulva as well.
• 50:31
Yeah, yeah, I think it's a nice touch.
• 50:34
Yeah, it's God, man, it's so fucking wild.
• 50:39
So back in the backroom, the cop agrees to be strapped to a chair
• 50:44
to have his Wii sucked. Yeah, which it it starts to get
• 50:49
sucked until he looks into the mirror and sees Key Man Yeah,
• 50:53
watching he peeping with him canonized and then he gets his
• 50:56
Dick bit off. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 50:59
And this is when Keyman's like all right now, this is time for
• 51:01
us to begin the modification surgery.
• 51:04
Yeah. And then he just like, comes at
• 51:07
his ankle with a drill. And I'm like, I feel like this.
• 51:10
I feel like this is a not even gonna be surgery.
• 51:12
I feel like you're just torturing.
• 51:14
Him to see the cops feel like his pee pee is the thing that
• 51:17
needs a dress first because it's is gushing blood right now.
• 51:21
  I don't think that's Key Man's primary concern.
• 51:24
Well, it's part of his power here in a little bit.
• 51:28
I think that that is his concern.
• 51:30
That's where he's going to focus.
• 51:31
Maybe he's like cutting off the leg to like turn it into APP
• 51:33
  cannon. Maybe, I don't know.
• 51:35
All I do know is that he manages to get his hand free, which is
• 51:38
how he's able to get his gun, and he brings it up to shoot key
• 51:41
man Yoshioka jumps in front of them.
• 51:45
Yeah. And she gets shot like what?
• 51:48
A lot like a lot, a lot like so many shots.
• 51:52
She gets shot in half yes, like he actually it's like it's a
• 51:56
little oozy she. Has to get shot in half so we
• 51:59
can get the allegusi. It had to happen, guys.
• 52:02
It had to happen. I'm sorry for the number of
• 52:05
times that we've said allegusi. Look, man, all all bets are off
• 52:10
on this episode. We're talking about anything
• 52:11
  else. Anything happens.
• 52:14
I keep putting a weird emphasis on the.
• 52:16
  Goosey. The Goosey.
• 52:20
So he makes it out of the room for a moment.
• 52:26
Yeah, like he's, he's crawling. He's in bad shape.
• 52:29
Yeah, and then he turns around and we see she is also crawling
• 52:33
out of the room, but she crawls all the way out and she has an
• 52:37
alligator head as the lower half of her body.
• 52:40
Yeah. And she moves really, really
• 52:44
fast. She like hustles over to him and
• 52:46
then gets a bite out of his arm and beats that off.
• 52:48
And then this is a so it's the arm that has the gun in it and
• 52:53
we still, we see a piece of bone sticking out of it and he
• 52:57
reaches and like it's a marionette, he just pulls the
• 53:01
bone and it shoots her straight up into the throat of the
• 53:07
elegancy. Right right down the middle as a
• 53:11
  fucking strike. Yeah, right.
• 53:12
There, Yeah. And she dies, right?
• 53:16
  Yeah, yeah. That's.
• 53:16
Not the that's not the girl that helps later.
• 53:20
No, the girl that helps later is the the sex worker from the
• 53:23
beginning, the man with the vibrator.
• 53:26
  Yeah. OK.
• 53:27
Yeah, that makes sense. But key man comes out and turns
• 53:31
this cop into an engineer. Yes, and I want everybody to
• 53:35
remember that his primary injuries are losing his arm and
• 53:38
his wee wee. Yeah, it's wee pee.
• 53:40
Yeah, keep that in mind. So yeah, you James, the key
• 53:45
inside him. And then we get Ruka, who is
• 53:48
just working down the list of addresses that she's collected
• 53:51
of the guy. And then now we cut to the guy,
• 53:54
the cop, he is busted into the police station garage.
• 53:58
Yep. Or the the police station, I
• 54:01
guess is what it is. And then he now has a Dick
• 54:03
  Cannon. Yep.
• 54:05
Like it's just his Dick is shooting shit at the cops
• 54:08
killing him. He is going crazy, just.
• 54:10
Blowing loads all over the. Place just shooting loads just
• 54:13
left and right. All over big mess.
• 54:15
  Fat loads killing people. Yep.
• 54:18
I mean, for real, he is. But we need to like put a double
• 54:22
  content like. I don't know.
• 54:24
Rating on this? Yeah, we're gonna get banned for
• 54:27
  this episode. Spotify is really.
• 54:30
I'm curious to know what the chapters for this one's gonna
• 54:35
be. My favorite chapter will always
• 54:37
be until maybe this episode. The witch Witchcraft 1 is like
• 54:42
how he stills the bull penis. I I want it to be one of those
• 54:46
where it tries to censor like. It's a word, yeah.
• 54:52
Yeah. OK, OK, so he's killed just
• 54:55
about every single cop there except for the chief who kills
• 54:58
him. Yeah, and he's like you all are.
• 55:01
  Pathetic. Yeah, Yeah.
• 55:04
  So. We cut to Ruka.
• 55:06
Yes, she's made it to. I guess it's.
• 55:08
The last lab on the list, yes and she you know, she touches 1
• 55:13
lock and they all fall off and came in says it took you longer
• 55:16
to get here than I thought you would.
• 55:17
Come in, sit down, they have tea.
• 55:20
I'm surprised that she's just this chill about it.
• 55:24
She just like walks in and they sit down and they have to you
• 55:27
and he's like, let me tell you a story about this police sniper
• 55:31
one day. Man had a whole shadow box ready
• 55:34
to tell this story. He pulls it up.
• 55:36
He's like, here we go. Yeah, it was ready.
• 55:39
It was the time is now. Yeah.
• 55:41
So it was a police sniper. I like the way that this is
• 55:42
  told. I like the illustration.
• 55:44
I think it's like fantastic to watch.
• 55:46
I just also think it's like such such theatrical bad guy bullshit
• 55:53
and I love it. Yeah, so it's the sniper.
• 55:57
He had a, it was a police sniper.
• 56:00
He was really, really fucking good at his job.
• 56:01
He get hit people from Mount Fuji.
• 56:05
And he had a genius son, Yeah, who wanted to learn genetic
• 56:11
engineering. But so he couldn't afford to
• 56:15
send him to college because one day when he was trying to shoot
• 56:20
a man who had barricaded himself in a building, he couldn't shoot
• 56:23
because the man had, like, a baby.
• 56:25
Yeah, Baby Shield, which generally is pretty effective in
• 56:30
terms of, like, not getting shot.
• 56:31
  Yeah. So he gets fired.
• 56:33
And he really doesn't get much in the way of a pension.
• 56:37
Yeah, he gets fired and also the guy shoots him.
• 56:40
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, he gets shot, Yeah.
• 56:42
I think that guy's more impressive.
• 56:43
He shoots him with a handgun from that distance.
• 56:46
Yeah. That, you know, that guy should
• 56:48
be the sniper going forward Yeah, even I mean even with baby
• 56:51
hostage, the cops would love that there actually.
• 56:55
So. So when he gets an offer to just
• 56:59
assassinate one man, he doesn't ask questions because it's a
• 57:02
handsome sum of money and he knows he'll be able to send his
• 57:04
son to school. His son's already in school.
• 57:06
But like this way, he won't be massively in touch.
• 57:09
Yeah. And the target was her dad.
• 57:12
Ruka's dad. So he was was.
• 57:16
Like at a protest event or like a union fair or something, I
• 57:20
don't know. Her dad was unaware.
• 57:23
It doesn't seem like there's something there that he should
• 57:25
be aware. Of no, he gives Ruka like a
• 57:27
knowing nod. Like he's like, it's OK.
• 57:29
He's like, it's fine. This is so confusing.
• 57:33
Like I wanna see, I wanna see the wide shot of all of this
• 57:36
stuff going down here because we have him there.
• 57:39
And then it reveals, ohh, there's a guy there with a gun
• 57:41
to his head. But then we see that there's a
• 57:43
guy with a gun to his head and it's the police.
• 57:46
Chief. And he's not hidden at all, so.
• 57:48
They're all just smiling. Everybody's having a good time,
• 57:50
even Dad. Ruka's the only one not having a
• 57:53
good time. And also Key man.
• 57:55
Yeah, who was standing behind Ruka that?
• 57:57
Day. Yeah, who hunkered down behind
• 57:59
Ruka? So it's not to be showered with
• 58:01
the blood of both of their fathers.
• 58:02
  Ruka took all the. Blood.
• 58:04
Yeah, yeah. Which key man makes a point of
• 58:06
saying he's like, you were covered with my dad's blood that
• 58:08
day, by the way? Yeah, just just by the by.
• 58:11
Which we would have gotten 1 gross from him.
• 58:14
Yeah, she's so he's like, so, you know, I'd been studying the
• 58:19
genetics of serial killers, but I was so upset at what I had
• 58:24
witnessed that I just injected them all in me, and then I
• 58:28
jumped off the building. Only I didn't die.
• 58:33
Woke up in a hospital and he had a tumor in him that the doctors
• 58:38
cut it out, which it was the Gorky, and he ended up taking it
• 58:42
for himself. And from that day, he's just
• 58:46
been collecting people and using the Gorky to genetically modify
• 58:50
people. And then he's like, and now we
• 58:52
can avenge our fathers together. This is the moment you've been
• 58:55
waiting for, Ruka. And she says, good to know and
• 58:58
cut them in half. I love that.
• 59:00
That was so like, you think it's gonna he's gonna be the big bad
• 59:03
guy, but then she's like, OK, cool, thanks for telling me.
• 59:05
And then, yeah. She's like, now I cool motive
• 59:09
still murder, yeah. OK, so now.
• 59:15
The city is in lockdown, and by lockdown I mean all of the cops
• 59:19
are just murdering everyone. Yeah, what?
• 59:21
See, this is one of the things that I was confused about.
• 59:23
I don't understand what happened here.
• 59:26
I think the chief figured out that Ruka figured it out and
• 59:32
it's just like causing chaos. So he's just trying to get chaos
• 59:35
to go that way. She's distracted.
• 59:37
  I think so. OK.
• 59:39
And like. We've got the sex worker who is
• 59:41
now an engineer and her arm is a.
• 59:45
  Sword. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 59:47
And she's fighting a cop, Yeah. The medical examiner, he is just
• 59:56
examining different engineers and he's cutting off their body
• 59:59
parts. And he made an Annie Wilkes
• 1:00:01
cake, which is that's a misery reference for the book readers,
• 1:00:05
not the movie watchers. But you know, that's that's the
• 1:00:10
only imagery I could get from it.
• 1:00:13
So. The conclusion to the sex worker
• 1:00:17
battle is one of them, I think. The sex?
• 1:00:21
Nope, the cop, I don't fucking know, somebody gets cut in the
• 1:00:24
boobs and then she like her shirt gets ripped off and she
• 1:00:28
ends up getting acid. Yeah, it was the IT was the sex
• 1:00:30
worker because she was an engineer.
• 1:00:32
So her like she gets skinned and then she shoots acid at the cop.
• 1:00:35
Like yeah, acid out of her boobs onto the cop, and Yep, bartender
• 1:00:40
is then dragged outside and the cops chase her down and tackle
• 1:00:46
her, tie her to four individual cars to each of her.
• 1:00:49
Wounds draw and quarter her. Yep.
• 1:00:53
Have we talked about the doctor? No.
• 1:00:56
  Yeah, I did. No.
• 1:00:57
OK, wait. They haven't fired yet.
• 1:00:58
No, they haven't fired yet. No, Ruka first feels the pull of
• 1:01:05
the bartender being attacked and she runs out and gets to her and
• 1:01:10
is at least able to be like horrified and then sees her
• 1:01:13
friend die. Yeah, and she goes over there to
• 1:01:18
like comfort her, say goodbye to her and this without even being
• 1:01:22
injured, activates the. I think it's the bracelet that
• 1:01:26
kind of causes that because she like shares the injury or
• 1:01:28
  something. I don't know.
• 1:01:29
But she like she has her genetic modification happen to her here.
• 1:01:34
Yes. I don't know what tripped it.
• 1:01:38
Yeah, I feel like it was something that happened when the
• 1:01:40
  friend got hurt. It caused.
• 1:01:43
Because of the bracelet. Yeah, it was something there
• 1:01:45
with maybe her heart broke. I was like, oh, here we go.
• 1:01:50
She her thing is she has a claw arm.
• 1:01:52
Yeah, I wrote a snake arm like it was a snake hand.
• 1:01:56
Really. I thought it was like more of
• 1:01:58
like a pincher, like a claw. Because it's definitely like.
• 1:02:01
You're getting too close to my face with that right now.
• 1:02:05
  I'm kidding. I didn't.
• 1:02:06
She didn't hurt me. So let me get you guys.
• 1:02:12
OK? So she kills all the cops.
• 1:02:15
  Here she goes. Crazy.
• 1:02:17
And then she goes. She bites their faces off.
• 1:02:20
Yeah, and she gets shot in the face and then that makes her
• 1:02:24
grow a mechanical. Yeah, she gets metalized.
• 1:02:27
It's really cool. So she goes to the station and
• 1:02:30
she first encounters the medical examiner, who I'm going to say
• 1:02:33
has probably the coolest weapon in this.
• 1:02:36
Movie. What the fuck is this thing?
• 1:02:38
  It's a gun. It's a cannon gun.
• 1:02:40
Yeah, that that shoots arms with fists.
• 1:02:43
Isn't this, wasn't there a boss level like this in Super Mario
• 1:02:50
Odyssey? In like the frozen one right
• 1:02:54
'cause you had to trick it into like smashing into the.
• 1:02:59
You're talking about the the ruins, the Aztec ruins.
• 1:03:02
Yeah, yeah. He's in multiple Mario games.
• 1:03:05
OK, yeah, that the thing that I think of is Android 16 from
• 1:03:09
Dragon Ball Z, OK, He has like, his arm and it just like, shoots
• 1:03:13
out like a cannon and it like punches people in the face.
• 1:03:15
That's cool. It's super fucking cool.
• 1:03:17
And yeah, his gun. Is that cool?
• 1:03:20
And I like it cuz at one point she is like on the ground and we
• 1:03:23
think that like these 4 fists coming at her are going to get
• 1:03:26
her. She like her snake arm shoots
• 1:03:30
out like a string or something. And those fists that are coming
• 1:03:34
at her give her the bird also awesome.
• 1:03:36
And then they get there. But because they've given the
• 1:03:39
bird they get, they like clothesline themselves.
• 1:03:41
Yeah, they like the the middle finger gets looped around and it
• 1:03:45
causes the shots to be reversed right back to the doctor.
• 1:03:50
I loved this scene because you could tell that they were
• 1:03:53
shooting it just so, like a human was like spinning.
• 1:03:57
Or I was wondering how did that happen?
• 1:03:58
They had to like they did a good job.
• 1:04:00
No, I think the arms are so disconnected.
• 1:04:02
No, no, no, there was like 1, I think this was a VFX moment
• 1:04:05
where they had the green screen, something happening because
• 1:04:07
there was like 1 moment where it like flickered out and I was
• 1:04:09
like, Yep, that's a human. Really.
• 1:04:11
I didn't catch that. Yeah, yeah.
• 1:04:12
Man, I was wondering how they did that the. 3rd or 4th one
• 1:04:15
that it went around that I was really closely paying attention
• 1:04:17
to like the ankles because it was like they can shoot this
• 1:04:19
just right. That the only thing they need to
• 1:04:21
green screen is when it shoots back out.
• 1:04:23
OK, yeah, yeah, I was. It's it's pretty fucking cool.
• 1:04:26
Yeah. And it reverses and goes back to
• 1:04:29
him and they all stab him. Yep.
• 1:04:31
So he's dead. She gets up to where the chief
• 1:04:35
is and he has given his prisoner sword lens.
• 1:04:42
Yeah, the dog lady then attacks. They fight, Yeah.
• 1:04:47
And she like, ends up cutting off all the blaze and then she
• 1:04:52
like takes the dog lady and just spins her around and throws her
• 1:04:55
  into a table. Yeah, I I think it was a no, I
• 1:04:58
think she kills her. No, we see her waiter.
• 1:05:00
Oh, do we? Yeah, with gun legs and stuff.
• 1:05:03
Oh yeah. Yeah, yeah, that's right.
• 1:05:04
  That's right. I wrote.
• 1:05:05
She kills it and realized I didn't fix that at the end.
• 1:05:08
Yeah. So now she the she was like,
• 1:05:10
you're here, I raised you. Why are you doing this to me?
• 1:05:13
And you wouldn't have had like, stop acting like a martyr for a
• 1:05:16
situation you created. Yeah, I know.
• 1:05:18
It's so fucking cool. Yeah, but he's like, fine, let's
• 1:05:21
fucking do this. And then she makes short work of
• 1:05:24
  him. She shows.
• 1:05:25
Him like a rattle. Yeah, like he's trying to inject
• 1:05:28
himself with something. We never really see the final
• 1:05:30
project of it cuz she cuts off his.
• 1:05:31
Legs, he injects himself. And he he does go off, he goes
• 1:05:36
flying with his bloodstream. And I said I really wanted the
• 1:05:38
Shooting Stars music playing over top and.
• 1:05:42
Yeah, like he takes the, I think what Adams is, he takes the
• 1:05:44
syringes and injects it in both of his legs that were already
• 1:05:47
shooting blood. But once he does that, they
• 1:05:49
shoot even more blood. Was it Nos?
• 1:05:52
Did he? He may have Nos.
• 1:05:53
  He may have Nos. Yeah.
• 1:05:55
And it basically gives him like a little fucking jet legs and he
• 1:05:59
goes flying and. Then she just decapitates I.
• 1:06:02
Mean it's yeah, like it's like this is his final form.
• 1:06:05
And it was still underwhelming. And then we come to APSA that
• 1:06:11
just says also they the Japanese army has been privatized.
• 1:06:14
And then we just get a couple quick shots of Ruka and the dog
• 1:06:17
lady with machine gun legs. Yeah.
• 1:06:19
And that's. And then we get a thing that
• 1:06:22
says there will be more gore and they're like, there's gonna be
• 1:06:26
sequels. But apparently, according to our
• 1:06:28
friends on the. Discord, please don't be a liar,
• 1:06:31
please make it happen. Yeah, there's there's.
• 1:06:33
No time. Yeah, but we do have an after
• 1:06:36
credit scene and it is key man who's just kind of standing out
• 1:06:41
on the street and the sex worker is there with them and then they
• 1:06:44
just kind of go walking across the bridge.
• 1:06:46
So did he survive? Sure seems my way, doesn't it?
• 1:06:49
Or it could be another person, maybe a clone that's kind of
• 1:06:53
make. I mean, that makes the most
• 1:06:54
  sense to me. Yeah.
• 1:06:56
And that's how the movie ends. I just have it ends.
• 1:06:59
Yep, Yep, Yep. I'm so I still think it's an 8.
• 1:07:02
I think it's a lot of fucking fun.
• 1:07:05
It it's silly, Yeah, it's very silly and dirty and grimy and
• 1:07:11
just it, like I said, it takes no prisoners.
• 1:07:14
  Yeah, I'll, I'll bump it to 7 1/2.
• 1:07:16
Yes. So now we're at 7.75.
• 1:07:19
I think the things that I would change, especially at the end,
• 1:07:22
tighten it up a little bit. With everything that was going
• 1:07:25
on, it just got a little bit. To know what the story is.
• 1:07:28
Yeah, it just got a little bit too confusing.
• 1:07:30
There's too much going on at the end.
• 1:07:32
I just like, yeah, I love, I like the style of this movie.
• 1:07:38
And, you know, I like that they went for it and it was balls to
• 1:07:43
the wall and most more so than any movie we've ever discussed
• 1:07:49
on the show. So yeah, it was a good time.
• 1:07:52
OK, OK. Do we talk about Scout's
• 1:07:56
favorite part? Well, first of all, what is your
• 1:08:00
dream sequel? What is the Morgor?
• 1:08:03
Morgor OK, so. I think we need to go beyond
• 1:08:08
Tokyo 'cause I wanna know, like, let's like time skip, let's see
• 1:08:16
how Tokyo has evolved. Let's say Ruka has led the fight
• 1:08:21
to get the army and the police unprivatized, right?
• 1:08:29
And so, like, maybe Tokyo's cleaned up, We see them, they're
• 1:08:32
thriving. So she moves on to other cities
• 1:08:34
that have dealt with other similar corruption.
• 1:08:36
And Japan still. Yeah, and she's chasing down Ki
• 1:08:40
  Man 2. OK.
• 1:08:43
And she's finding other cities that he is ruined.
• 1:08:48
  Ki Man 2. Yeah.
• 1:08:50
And still, that sounds like a name other than like a like a
• 1:08:53
  numerical. Yeah.
• 1:08:56
Yeah, OK. Style of beard or mustache.
• 1:09:00
Yeah, she and she has the dog lady with the gun legs now.
• 1:09:06
And maybe we can, you know, humanize that person.
• 1:09:10
Yeah, maybe she's starting to feel like a sense of anger, like
• 1:09:14
she's being like brainwashed and gaslit by key man too, but also
• 1:09:18
like she's she's she's Sally in a Nightmare Before Christmas or
• 1:09:24
just like got a captor and she's not happy about.
• 1:09:26
It they, they both have reason to go after key man.
• 1:09:31
Yeah, because, I mean, it's like a shared enemy at this point.
• 1:09:34
Yeah. So at this point she's like
• 1:09:35
trying to escape and then they team up maybe.
• 1:09:38
She already had the dog weighty with her at the end of the movie
• 1:09:42
so it's not like she has to like get her, sorry.
• 1:09:44
I was thinking of the sex worker.
• 1:09:46
Yeah, no, that's what I was thinking.
• 1:09:47
Of no, I'm talking about the dog Weighty.
• 1:09:49
Yeah, like she was brainwashed kind of by the the chief and now
• 1:09:53
  you know. Well what?
• 1:09:55
She wouldn't want to go after key man.
• 1:09:57
Key man didn't do anything to her.
• 1:09:58
I'm picturing the dog lady like the woman at the end of
• 1:10:01
Poughkeepsie Tapes. You want me to say what?
• 1:10:07
Do you? Want me to say Yeah, Yeah.
• 1:10:09
Well, that's another dark movie. OK, OK.
• 1:10:14
You know, the entire time you were talking about that, I was
• 1:10:15
just singing of Neo Tokyo, which is the setting of Akira, OK.
• 1:10:20
And that's another weird fucking movie, which, you know, if we
• 1:10:23
ever, if we took it to Neo Tokyo, we kind of jam them into
• 1:10:28
that universe and they would fit just fine because it's got
• 1:10:30
aliens and all kinds of body horror and shit like that going
• 1:10:33
on there too, OK. Who did you relate to?
• 1:10:38
Oh God, who did I relate to? I feel like I related to the
• 1:10:46
dispatcher lady because that seems like a fun job because
• 1:10:50
you're not really serious dispatcher and she's just like
• 1:10:54
she's like a YouTube and she's having fun, but it's also like a
• 1:10:58
very serious job. And in this world I don't know
• 1:11:04
who else the fuck I'm gonna relate to.
• 1:11:06
And I thought she had a fun job. I would love to just dress up
• 1:11:08
and say weird things into a camera cuz it's kind of what I'm
• 1:11:11
doing right now and I'm just not into a camera.
• 1:11:14
That's true. This is one that is so hard to
• 1:11:18
find anybody to relate to. I don't know.
• 1:11:21
Nobody is grounded in any way. It's all OK.
• 1:11:26
Hold on. All right, Let's think I I'll
• 1:11:31
relate to the chair. No, no, I guess I relate to God.
• 1:11:53
I don't fucking know people in the police station during the
• 1:11:59
slaughter that are so confused about what's happening when a
• 1:12:02
guy walks in with a Dick cannon and starts shooting loads all
• 1:12:05
over them. Cuz that's just kind of where
• 1:12:08
I'm at with this movie. In addition to a shooting star's
• 1:12:11
edit, I want an edit of Tim Robinson wandering into that
• 1:12:14
  scene. That scene.
• 1:12:16
  Yeah, what? Yeah, OK.
• 1:12:23
All right. Now Scout's favorite part.
• 1:12:24
Yeah, what do you think was Scout's favorite part?
• 1:12:28
Scout's favorite part. It's probably when she bazook it
• 1:12:37
up to the top of the building cuz Scout has high hops.
• 1:12:41
No, obviously Scout's favorite part was the advertisement for
• 1:12:44
the sort of couga. You know how I know that?
• 1:12:46
Because she head butted me when it happened, Did she?
• 1:12:49
Yeah. OK, OK, I made a note of it.
• 1:12:52
Which one was that? It was the IT was the one where
• 1:12:55
they were like happy playing with their swords.
• 1:12:58
The one of the PSA like the advertisements.
• 1:13:00
OK, OK, the. One that you were talking about
• 1:13:01
really just like chopping off each other's limbs and they're
• 1:13:03
like, I sort of couga. Oh, yeah, yeah.
• 1:13:05
  OK. Yeah, yeah.
• 1:13:08
  Oh man. OK, tackling.
• 1:13:28
We gotta get snappy with the man.
• 1:13:29
We can't have a whole lot of silence.
• 1:13:30
We're alive here. I know, but also like.
• 1:13:33
My head is like where the all. Right.
• 1:13:38
Like, I don't know that. Here's the thing.
• 1:13:40
We don't do artwork for these movies.
• 1:13:42
Do we need a tagline? We don't have anything to add a
• 1:13:44
  tagline to. OK, sure.
• 1:13:46
Yeah, I guess we don't have to do a tagline for this.
• 1:13:48
Just saying I just my I'm speechless.
• 1:13:53
  That's the tagline. I'm speechless.
• 1:13:56
  Tokyo Gore police, I'm speechless.
• 1:13:59
Like the person like create a tagline and the guy who just
• 1:14:02
  couldn't. Yeah, he's like I don't.
• 1:14:03
What do I say? What do you want me?
• 1:14:06
To say, yeah, OK, so I guess it's time for reviews.
• 1:14:12
Yes, I'm very curious to hear the reviews that you pulled.
• 1:14:16
I've heard plenty of positive reviews from our friends, so I'm
• 1:14:20
very interested to hear a review from somebody that followed
• 1:14:24
along with the movie but didn't enjoy it.
• 1:14:26
Which one do you want first? A positive?
• 1:14:28
Because we do both on tubi. So do you want the +1 first or
• 1:14:32
the negative? Let's do the -1 first because we
• 1:14:34
just spent a with our like more positive thoughts.
• 1:14:37
OK so I got a one out 10 on IMDb.
• 1:14:42
It's titled just plain stupid. I like the Evil Dead series.
• 1:14:47
I can say that I didn't mind zombie strippers.
• 1:14:50
I don't mind gore or violence or movies that are pointless.
• 1:14:52
Frequently I like movies that get rated 4 1/2 out of 10 or
• 1:14:56
something like that. Amateur numbers, dude.
• 1:14:58
But this is easily the stupidest movie I've ever watched from
• 1:15:01
start to finish. Those familiar with the infinite
• 1:15:03
monkey theorem know that the infinite monkey theorem states
• 1:15:07
that a monkey hidden cues at random on a typewriter keyboard
• 1:15:10
for an infinite amount of time will almost surely type a given
• 1:15:14
text such as the complete works of William Shakespeare.
• 1:15:18
If this is the case, then it took two 2 monkeys about 5
• 1:15:22
minutes to finish the script. It's almost like a 12 year old
• 1:15:27
with an extensive knowledge of fetish fetish society wrote a
• 1:15:31
comic book, dialogue and all, and it was magically made into a
• 1:15:35
movie. Would read that comic book.
• 1:15:38
The humor isn't humorous, the story is weak, the gore is over
• 1:15:42
the top, but not even in a funny way, just stupid.
• 1:15:46
I wish I could say that something was lost in
• 1:15:48
translation, but I just don't think that's the case.
• 1:15:51
This could have been a cool video game or something, but
• 1:15:53
it's really just a waste of time.
• 1:15:55
Dude, sometimes I think some of the most fun movies are movies
• 1:15:58
that would also be fun video games.
• 1:16:00
I think that this movie is like, I think it's more fitting as
• 1:16:03
like an anime than anything. But then again, they made like
• 1:16:06
it perfectly as a live action movie, so it's like really its
• 1:16:09
own thing. I think it's really just, it's
• 1:16:11
one of those that is just like it's going to be hit or miss for
• 1:16:14
  people. I don't think it's a movie that
• 1:16:16
generally people are going to feel neutrally about.
• 1:16:18
It's a big movie, yeah. When people say like, that
• 1:16:21
person's got big personality, this movie's got a big
• 1:16:23
personality. You have to either jive with it
• 1:16:25
or not. And I like how this person, like
• 1:16:28
Frontwood was like, hey, I like bad movies.
• 1:16:30
I like they're like our people. Yeah, I like the movies that
• 1:16:33
people hate, but this one I just.
• 1:16:36
Yeah. It was like, what a conversation
• 1:16:38
that we were having where somebody was like, describe your
• 1:16:41
taste in movies. Somebody asked me what's your
• 1:16:44
favorite movie? And I answered, you're gonna
• 1:16:46
  hate it. Yeah.
• 1:16:47
Yeah, a lot of times there's a movie like I love it.
• 1:16:49
  You're not gonna. Yeah.
• 1:16:50
You're gonna hate it, Yeah. Like do you want the real answer
• 1:16:54
or the answer I give to people I don't know very well?
• 1:16:59
  OK OK here's a positive. It's a 10 out of 10.
• 1:17:02
Very gory and well made. As a fan of Japanese cinema I
• 1:17:07
had to check out Tokyo Ghor Police.
• 1:17:09
It is on Google video and all is gory but dubbed into English
• 1:17:14
which is OK. From the moment it starts
• 1:17:16
  there's blood splattering action.
• 1:17:17
It's kind of like RoboCop meets Blade Runner meets Shogun
• 1:17:20
assassin. Yes all are rolled into one.
• 1:17:23
A young woman police officer is out to find the fiend that
• 1:17:25
killed her policeman father. There are obstacles in the form
• 1:17:28
of genetic mutants called engineers that have freakish
• 1:17:30
powers. This is non-stop action from
• 1:17:32
Japan. Probably one of the goriest
• 1:17:34
movies ever made. It's comic book like Indesign
• 1:17:37
and very original. I think the Japanese version is
• 1:17:40
also on Google. I really enjoyed Tokyo gore
• 1:17:42
police. I give this gym 10 out of 10.
• 1:17:44
I mean, I agree with all of that.
• 1:17:46
Yeah, yeah. I mean, that's that kind of sums
• 1:17:51
up a lot of the things that we've said.
• 1:17:52
Yeah, this was, this is one that would have been interesting to
• 1:17:56
have listener reviews. Yeah, I'm sure a lot of you all
• 1:18:00
have seen this one before. It would have been interesting.
• 1:18:03
Maybe, you know, share your reviews.
• 1:18:05

• 1:18:07
