- 0:00Welcome back to another episode of Girl Behind the Mic.
- 0:05It's Friday, and I do have something special that I want to share with you today.
- 0:10The last few weeks, God has been speaking to me about something so simple, yet so profound.
- 0:16It's one of those truths that once you hear it, you can't unhear it.
- 0:20And honestly, it explains so much about why so many of us feel tired,
- 0:26confused, or empty, even when things look good on the outside.
- 0:31So I want to talk to you today heart to heart.
- 0:35A flower looks beautiful when it's first cut. You admire it,
- 0:38you enjoy it, it even smells sweet for a little while, but slowly it dries up.
- 0:43Not because it wasn't beautiful, not because it wasn't real,
- 0:47but because it was cut from its source.
- 0:50That's what happens when we chase the things of this world.
- 0:54Flings, attention, validation, love that isn't rooted in God.
- 0:58At first it feels fresh, new, exciting, but eventually it dies.
- 1:03Why? Because nothing cut from its source can sustain life.
- 1:09There's a scripture that has followed me through some of the hardest seasons
- 1:12of my life. Jesus said, I am the vine, you are the branches.
- 1:17Apart from me, you can do nothing.
- 1:19And I remember being in prayer years ago, broken after I had lost almost everything,
- 1:25a car accident, a court case that completely wiped me out financially.
- 1:29My life as I knew it was falling apart.
- 1:33That year, 2016, was actually the year I fully surrendered my life to Christ
- 1:37and started walking with Him.
- 1:39I decided I was done with the world and doing things my way.
- 1:43I was tired of the heartbreak. God was calling me deeper.
- 1:49And one day, while praying, I felt the Holy Spirit gently lead me outside,
- 1:54specifically to my mailbox.
- 1:56And sitting there, perfectly placed, was a dried-up branch.
- 1:59The moment I picked it up, I heard the Holy Spirit say, I am the vine,
- 2:04you are the branch. Apart from me, you can do nothing.
- 2:08I will never forget that moment because at that time in my life, I felt like that branch.
- 2:13Everything familiar, everything I thought was stable, everything I thought defined
- 2:18me, God was stripping it all away.
- 2:22And now I know none of it was ever truly sustaining me.
- 2:29And my surrender didn't mean things suddenly got easier. contrary to what I
- 2:34thought or believed, it actually got harder.
- 2:38And that's what the stripping is all about.
- 2:43Like a flower blooming again and again, it needed to happen that way until I finally understood.
- 2:52God is my provider. God is my sustainer. God is my source.
- 2:57I've lived through many years of just enough. And that was God teaching me that
- 3:02nothing, no person, no relationship, no success could ever take his place.
- 3:06Nothing else was going to sustain me but him. And everything good in my life came from him.
- 3:13And God uses it all, all of it, the lack, the waiting, the stripping, the quiet seasons.
- 3:18He's not punishing you. He's teaching you, growing you, helping you see life more clearly.
- 3:27When you are disconnected from God, you dry up, like the flowers in the vase.
- 3:32You start reaching for things that were never meant to sustain you.
- 3:36Some of you listening right now feel dry, not because you don't love God,
- 3:40but because you've been trying to live off something that was never meant to sustain you.
- 3:45You've been chasing what looks good in a vase. Instead of staying connected
- 3:49to the source that can only fill the void you so desperately want to fill with
- 3:55things that will never, I mean never,
- 3:58bring you lasting joy and happiness that only can come from your Heavenly Father.
- 4:04You want lasting joy? You want healing? You want a healthy, happy, lasting love story?
- 4:09Then return to your first love. You've been trying to heal without the healer,
- 4:14discern without God's wisdom, love without letting God love you first.
- 4:19Sis, set your eyes on Him again. And if your eyes are already on him, keep seeking.
- 4:26Go deeper. Stay connected. Not perfect.
- 4:29None of us are perfect. You don't even have to perform. Just bring your open
- 4:34heart and honesty before him.
- 4:36Pray when you don't have the words. Sit with God when it's uncomfortable.
- 4:41Stay when everything in you wants to run.
- 4:45Because apart from God, we can do nothing.
- 4:48But connected to him we can live we can grow we can bear fruit even after loss
- 4:56i love you sis have a good weekend and i'll see you next wednesday.
