- 0:39SPEAKER_04: I'm feeling good, man.
- 0:40SPEAKER_04: We're recording on a Thursday, which is unusual for us, but it means that tomorrow's Friday, which is awesome.
- 0:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it does mean tomorrow's Friday, which is obviously great news.
- 0:49SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry to our listeners, our loyal listeners.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: I usually have the podcast out by this morning.
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: Last night, things got away from me.
- 0:55SPEAKER_01: Couldn't wasn't able to do it.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: That's my fault, not Mike's fault.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: Thank you for being flexible and always being good listeners.
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: Um, so yeah, this has just been a terrible week.
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: I've had like we we've been fighting through the flu, and my daughter had streps, we had to do medication.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: So like it's just been awful.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: But we like just got right like two days ago.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: So now we're like coming out of it, like just in time for the weekend.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: Just in time for the weekend.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: I watched um the LSU game, which we'll talk all about in a minute, um, by myself with my wife, because we were all like quarantining, because we were all like kind of sick.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: So it was a solo adventure, um, but it's still kicked ass for some reason.
- 1:30SPEAKER_04: You love solo adventures, though.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: Let's be honest, I do love a good solo adventure.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: So I was sick all weekend, uh, just kind of dealing with that, but I'm over it now, feeling good.
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: Tomorrow's Friday.
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: What's up with you?
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: What's what was the last time we spoke?
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: What's what's good?
- 1:42SPEAKER_04: Um, we had Archie's little um second birthday party on Saturday.
- 1:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and that was fun.
- 1:48SPEAKER_04: Um, you know, just a small little family get together, but it was uh it was really nice, and then watch football and then watch more football.
- 1:58unknown: That's good.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: That sounds pretty consistent with what I did as well.
- 2:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we had it, we had it at noon um so that I could kind of get exactly that was that was good planning.
- 2:09SPEAKER_01: That was good pre-planning.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: Make sure get the kids' stuff out of the way so we can get it.
- 2:13SPEAKER_04: I might have taken a smidge of heat for it, but it was worth it.
- 2:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, probably in the long run.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: I mean, she's not gonna remember that in a couple weeks, so it's probably it'll be all right.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: No, no, no.
- 2:20SPEAKER_03: It was it was totally fine.
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: Um, before we get into obviously um the business, uh, what are you drinking?
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: Oh, what's that?
- 2:27SPEAKER_01: What's that fancy glass?
- 2:28SPEAKER_04: I'm drinking one of my favorites cheaper bourbons that you can find on the shelf.
- 2:32SPEAKER_04: It's called Cooper's Craft.
- 2:34SPEAKER_04: All right.
- 2:35SPEAKER_04: Uh, it's their hundred-proof product, it's a uh brown foreman product, and you can find it for like 30, 35 bucks.
- 2:42SPEAKER_04: Uh, really nice oaky chocolatey taste, and uh for the money, it is really nice.
- 2:47SPEAKER_04: I love that.
- 2:48SPEAKER_01: Love the sound of that.
- 2:49SPEAKER_01: Um, very cool.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: I am drinking uh today is a special occasion, very special occasion.
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: Um, a shout out uh to my neighbor, uh Thomas Bear for hooking me up.
- 2:57SPEAKER_01: I am drinking a heady topper, which is one of the most badass beers to ever hit the market.
- 3:04SPEAKER_01: Um, so I'm gonna tell you a little bit something about this beer.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: So obviously, I'm a big hop guy, love my IPAs.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: We talk about them, talk about them all the time.
- 3:09SPEAKER_01: Bit of a hop head.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: Bit of a hop head.
- 3:11SPEAKER_01: Um, everybody who's anybody who's anybody knows all about the craft beer explosion and the quote New England style IPA craze that has taken over the hop scene for the last, I don't know, 15 years or so.
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: These beers, these cloudy, uh these cloudy, really citrusy uh New England style IPAs, they were all born from a brewery called The Alchemist.
- 3:35SPEAKER_01: And the beer that they made, the original cloudy IPA, the first super badass must-get your hand on, stand in line, drive a million hours to get is Hetty Topper.
- 3:46SPEAKER_01: And I'm drinking one tonight, and let me tell you guys, it is every bit as good as advertised.
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: This is the GOAT, GOAT New England style IPA, and it's so badass.
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: This is like the fourth one I've ever had.
- 3:58SPEAKER_01: Like I get I get my hands on one like once every three or four years, and I'm breaking it out tonight because LSU beat Alabama, which has also only happened about three or four times since the New England IPA craze has taken over.
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: So it feels appropriate.
- 4:11SPEAKER_01: Um, unlike Mike's beer, this beer is really, really hard to get, but it is awesome and super money.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: If you ever if you ever are up in what's it, Massachusetts, where is it?
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: No, Vermont.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: This is Vermont.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: I should know that.
- 4:22SPEAKER_01: I'm such a clown.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, the Alchemist, I think I believe it's up in Vermont somewhere.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: Stowe, Vermont.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: There you go.
- 4:28SPEAKER_01: Good skiing up there, too.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: So if you're up there, gotta get that.
- 4:31SPEAKER_01: Um, because it's just super yeah, shout out to all of our Vermont listeners.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: Feel free to send us a few of those.
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: Let's go catamounce.
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: Uh, bring it who don't have a football team, but whatever.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: So I'm glad to hear you guys listening.
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: So um, that's what I'm drinking tonight.
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: Special occasion breer for a special, special night of celebration.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: Um, let's get into um let's get into the news.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: Um, not much in terms of uh headline stuff.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: Obviously, the new uh the new college football ranking that came out, which we'll talk about.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: Um I'll let's just let me should we start at the top and start work our way down?
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 5:01SPEAKER_01: All right, let's do it.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: Um, number one, Georgia took down our our beloved volunteers.
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: Uh 20 27-13, Stanford Stadium.
- 5:10SPEAKER_01: Weather didn't help.
- 5:11SPEAKER_01: Um, it was a tough game.
- 5:13SPEAKER_01: Georgia looks every bit as good as we were hoping they weren't, frankly.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: Is kind of was kind of my initial takeaway.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: But this is your game, so go ahead.
- 5:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah, this was a game of missed opportunities and situational football.
- 5:27SPEAKER_04: Uh, it really, I mean, it this this game came down to a handful of plays and um a lot of mistakes, and they all went Georgia's way.
- 5:36SPEAKER_04: Georgia played extremely well.
- 5:38SPEAKER_04: Tennessee brought their C game at best.
- 5:42SPEAKER_04: Um, I think there were eight or nine um three snap penalties, just never got into a rhythm.
- 5:49SPEAKER_04: Uh and Sanford Stadium did their job.
- 5:52SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 5:52SPEAKER_04: Um, this is one of those games um you know, it was just hats off to Georgia.
- 5:57SPEAKER_04: They played awesome, but it was really tough to watch um Tennessee kind of sputter and never quite get going.
- 6:04SPEAKER_04: They were they still had opportunities, um, like I said, just a lot of self-inflicted wounds and and and probably four or five plays that really swung the game and they all went Georgia's way.
- 6:17SPEAKER_04: So um, you know, it's just one of those games you you you regroup, you look at it, and you say, um, it could have gone very differently, but um, it was pretty clear that Tennessee was rattled a little bit and um did some uncharacteristic things and just never never never got off the mat, really.
- 6:36SPEAKER_04: I mean, they fought, but they the game was never really within reach, right?
- 6:41SPEAKER_04: Um, you know, once once the once the flow got going.
- 6:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, I think your analysis is pretty sound.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: I agree.
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: I mean, the couple notes I took down.
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: Um, Georgia's able to get uh pressure with four, which nobody's able to do um on Tennessee.
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: I'll see Tennessee's offensive line's been uh playing really well all year up until of course Georgia's defensive fronts can make a lot of folks do that.
- 6:59SPEAKER_01: Um George did a really good job of mixing up the run and pass, you know, Stenson Bennett, they called their the the the the deep shots they took, especially in the first half, were well timed, well executed.
- 7:09SPEAKER_01: Secondaries took bad angles.
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: So, I mean, like that's you know, we talked about that last week.
- 7:13SPEAKER_01: It was their ability to be looked to be multiple, to be able to be able to take those shots and run the ball.
- 7:18SPEAKER_01: Um, another thing that I thought, and I've I agree with you, there was a long time in the second half where Tennessee could have gotten off the mat, but that rain, when it started raining like early third, that to me felt like, oh crap, oh god.
- 7:29SPEAKER_01: You know, because like Tennessee, Tennessee is a team, in my mind, and you you could push back on me, is a team that like they almost want to be in a dome where they can play fast and crisp football at all times.
- 7:39SPEAKER_01: And getting into a slot bowl just doesn't bode well, you know, they're not built like a Michigan or a Georgia who has that big, big, big power run game, control the clock, shorten the game.
- 7:49SPEAKER_01: You know, they want to go fast and speedy and keep folk keep keep folks on their heels.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: I thought the weather um really hurt Tennessee in that respect.
- 7:56SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 7:56SPEAKER_01: That's a I did see I was watching the I like the sports bet a lot.
- 7:59SPEAKER_01: I I was watching the numbers once the rain started and you heard Gary Daniels like, oh, here comes the weather, it comes rolling.
- 8:04SPEAKER_01: You could literally watch the live totals going down.
- 8:07SPEAKER_01: It felt like everyone felt that they were gonna start doing that.
- 8:09SPEAKER_01: And I think I think I read Stetson Bent only threw the ball five times in the second half, you know.
- 8:13SPEAKER_01: Like, so I it felt like Kirby was like, we're gonna do everything we can to shorten this game and get the hell out of here with what he with what he went so yeah, it it definitely felt like that.
- 8:23SPEAKER_04: Um the rain doesn't help, but uh you know, Georgia played in the rain too, and the second half, not a lot of offense, 10 points total.
- 8:32SPEAKER_04: I mean, it was just yeah, it was kind of everybody everything slowed down.
- 8:36SPEAKER_04: Georgia got a little more methodical.
- 8:39SPEAKER_04: A lot of people say they took their foot off the gas.
- 8:42SPEAKER_04: I wouldn't really put it that way.
- 8:43SPEAKER_04: Um, you know, I've seen a lot of people saying, you know, Georgia could have hung 60 on them or whatever.
- 8:49SPEAKER_04: Um Kirby Smart is smart and he knows the firepower that Tennessee has, and I'm sure that he was comfortable with their lead, but definitely did not take the foot off the gas.
- 9:01SPEAKER_04: That's just way the way this game played out.
- 9:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I don't necessarily agree with that.
- 9:06SPEAKER_01: I yeah, I'm not sure I'm not sure much talking that either.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: I mean, sure he could, they could have gone full throttle, maybe hung 10 more points or 13 more points, but I don't know that it won't that he that he wanted to give Hypel the ball five more times.
- 9:15SPEAKER_01: Like I don't think I think it's the opposite.
- 9:17SPEAKER_01: I think his I think he knew with the lead in the second half and the weather at home and the defense playing as well as it was.
- 9:23SPEAKER_01: And Hen Hooker, like you said, I I I've we've all seen him play much, much better.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: And your offensive line communicate much, much better.
- 9:29SPEAKER_01: It seemed like he was they were rattled and he had a plan to make that game as short as possible.
- 9:34SPEAKER_01: So why would he get away from that?
- 9:35SPEAKER_01: So I'm I agree with you in the respect that I don't know that that would have that that Georgia is I don't think Georgia's 25 points better than Tennessee.
- 9:43SPEAKER_01: Um, they didn't win by that much, they won by 14 points.
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: So I don't I don't I don't put a lot of stock on either, but whatever.
- 9:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah, this is a game that I would be looking forward to a rematch at a neutral site.
- 9:52SPEAKER_01: And you very well might get it.
- 9:53SPEAKER_04: I mean, let's be honest.
- 9:54SPEAKER_04: Um, especially that a game that I would be scared of down the road.
- 9:57SPEAKER_01: I would be saying, let's go get them.
- 9:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, absolutely.
- 10:00SPEAKER_01: Um, speaking of which, let's go right to it.
- 10:01SPEAKER_01: Silver linings for this week for you.
- 10:03SPEAKER_01: Clemson, man, they did their job today, and they got handled, handled by Notre Dame.
- 10:10SPEAKER_01: Um, I gotta tell you, I I've I Clemson minus three and a half was like my like lock of the week.
- 10:16SPEAKER_01: I I I got smoked on that pick.
- 10:17SPEAKER_01: Notre Dame was better at them.
- 10:20SPEAKER_01: They pushed them around a ton.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: Uh, Clemson was never in the game.
- 10:24SPEAKER_01: Um, DJ is not a good quarterback.
- 10:27SPEAKER_01: Kate Klevenek will be someday.
- 10:29SPEAKER_01: He's not ready at all.
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: Uh, I don't I don't think Will Shipley is an elite running back.
- 10:33SPEAKER_01: They don't have T.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: Higgins or any elite receivers.
- 10:36SPEAKER_01: The second the defense, I think they've egregiously underestimated what it meant to lose Venables.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: This Clemson team is not good.
- 11:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah, the thing that stuck out to me this game, I mean, all the things you just said, Clemson does not have one area that shines above the rest.
- 11:35SPEAKER_04: They don't have one unit that is an elite unit.
- 11:37SPEAKER_04: We've talked this season about how good their defense has been, and at times they've played that well, and they're certainly capable of it.
- 11:44SPEAKER_04: But yeah, you're right, Notre Dame just ran it down their throats.
- 11:47SPEAKER_04: They only passed for 85 yards, they rushed for 263.
- 11:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 11:52SPEAKER_04: Um, meanwhile, holding Clemson to only 90 yards rushing.
- 11:55SPEAKER_04: So they just said, we're gonna do it on the ground, we're gonna line up, we're gonna hand the ball off, and they just bullied them straight up.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: Which is funny because honestly, like Drew Pine is not that good of a quarterback, and he throws.
- 12:05SPEAKER_01: I saw I think I read some statistics earlier that he throws like 45 or 30 percent of their offense to that tight end, Michael Mayer.
- 12:13SPEAKER_01: Sure enough, nine completions, four of them went to Michael Mayer.
- 12:17SPEAKER_01: So it's not like Clemson, and everybody in the country knew that.
- 12:19SPEAKER_01: They've been this is this is what Notre Dame's what Tommy Reese's offense at Notre Dame has been looked like for eight, nine weeks.
- 12:25SPEAKER_01: Like Clemson knew this, and they still didn't do enough to stop them.
- 12:29SPEAKER_01: They gave up 263 grounds on the yard.
- 12:32SPEAKER_01: This is Clemson team.
- 12:33SPEAKER_01: This is Notre Dame had two backs over 100 yards rushing.
- 12:37SPEAKER_01: That's unbelievable.
- 12:38SPEAKER_01: That's insane.
- 12:38SPEAKER_01: That is insane.
- 12:39SPEAKER_01: Unfortunately, neither one was the one from uh Richmond, Chris Tyree, but he had seven carries for 26 yards, 3.7.7.
- 12:45SPEAKER_01: 3.7 a carry.
- 12:46SPEAKER_01: Come on, go ahead, Richmond.
- 12:47SPEAKER_01: I think Highland Springs kid.
- 12:49SPEAKER_01: Okay, okay.
- 12:49SPEAKER_01: I see you, man.
- 12:50SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, uh, this Clemson team, uh, I this is get back to the drawing board.
- 12:55SPEAKER_01: They might very well might win the they might win the ACC, although don't sleep on North Carolina all of a sudden, which I'll I want to talk about in a minute.
- 13:02SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm not sleeping on them.
- 13:03SPEAKER_01: Um, this Clemson team is not a well, we'll just, you know, because there's so many years in the past where Clemson fans have been like, well, you see this every year, and look what happened when the playoffs when we get there and we beat you guys, this team, this team does not compare to any of those teams at all.
- 13:16SPEAKER_04: So I well, and the ACC is so weak across the board.
- 13:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah, a one-loss ACC champ is probably still not getting in, in my my opinion.
- 13:25SPEAKER_04: A lot can happen.
- 13:26SPEAKER_01: Yes, I think the way I think if we're looking if I think if you think about the rest of the games in a chalk situation, no, no.
- 13:32SPEAKER_01: Could some chaos happen and a one-loss Clemson or one loss UNC vault back into number four?
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: And we got a month of football left, so it's possible, but I wouldn't hold my breath if I'm a Clemson fan.
- 13:43SPEAKER_01: Uh let's keep it rolling.
- 13:44SPEAKER_01: Uh Michigan um took care of business against Rutgers.
- 13:49SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm gonna talk about both games at the same time.
- 13:51SPEAKER_01: And Ohio State uh took care of Northwestern.
- 13:53SPEAKER_01: Although Ohio State they were in trouble.
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: They looked at it.
- 13:57SPEAKER_01: Here's my takeaway from this game.
- 13:59SPEAKER_01: Um, this is this is what I want to talk to you about.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: I don't think Ohio State's gonna be able to run the ball against Michigan.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: They're gonna force Michigan's gonna be big and strong.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: Given how much trouble Ohio State has with Northwestern and just a little bit of weather, I think this game in the shoe in a couple weeks is gonna be messy, and I think Michigan is gonna do just like they did last year, just push him around and beat him up and win again.
- 14:20SPEAKER_04: Ooh, that's a bold prediction.
- 14:21SPEAKER_01: I don't see what what am I what am I looking at?
- 14:24SPEAKER_01: This Ohio State team.
- 14:25SPEAKER_01: I know that Jim Knowles made defense a little bit better and they've got some guys, but like they couldn't run the ball in wet and in the wet weather against Northwestern, who's one and eight, arguably one of the worst teams in power, five.
- 14:36SPEAKER_01: If Ohio State can't run the ball in a little adversity against an awful, awful team, what are they gonna do against Michigan?
- 14:43SPEAKER_04: Frankly.
- 14:43SPEAKER_04: Well, I'll tell you because these games aren't played in a vacuum, and they did not get up for this game and and they didn't care about this game, and the Michigan game is at home.
- 14:55SPEAKER_04: And if you look across the national landscape and you look at the top 15 plus, maybe even top 20, I can think of one single big time loss across that entire top 15, and it's Tennessee versus LSU in Death Valley, no other big team, big time you know ranked opponent has lost at home.
- 15:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 15:23SPEAKER_04: Okay, all these games, everyone.
- 15:25SPEAKER_04: You play Tennessee Bama in Brian Denny, that's probably a Bama win.
- 15:29SPEAKER_04: You play LSU at Brian Denny against Bama, that's probably a Bama win.
- 15:33SPEAKER_04: All of these games that are close and are you know being won by the home team, um, that's a trend.
- 15:39SPEAKER_04: And it's it's you know, every year we talk about you give the home team three points, you give them four points.
- 15:45SPEAKER_04: Um, whatever it is, it's just worth a whole lot more um than it has been.
- 15:51SPEAKER_04: I think.
- 15:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 15:52SPEAKER_01: I'll just say, I'm just I you know, Ohio State was my was my preseason pick to win the national championship.
- 15:56SPEAKER_01: So I guess I gotta stick with them because they're still intact in this at this far.
- 16:00SPEAKER_01: Michigan nor Ohio State have a resume outside of the Michigan-Ohio State game.
- 16:05SPEAKER_01: So I expect whoever loses that game to be done.
- 16:08SPEAKER_01: Um, and at this point, I just the what I'm seeing more and more at JJ McCarthy and the way I'm seeing the way this Michigan teams are playing, and I, you know, I'm I'm this is this is an old take.
- 16:20SPEAKER_01: I'm still not sold on Ryan Day at all.
- 16:22SPEAKER_01: I don't I I think Michigan's a better team.
- 16:24SPEAKER_01: I think Michigan's going to beat them in the shoe.
- 16:27SPEAKER_01: I think it's gonna look if it's if there's any bit of weather in that game, too, and let's face it, Columbus, Ohio is not exactly key west.
- 16:33SPEAKER_01: Um, it it could very easily be cold and nasty and rainy, windy.
- 16:37SPEAKER_01: I just like if if if CJ Stroud has to even at home, even at home, if CJ Stroud has to throw the ball 55 times, they are going to lose that game.
- 16:46SPEAKER_01: I'm telling you.
- 16:47SPEAKER_01: So that's my take.
- 16:48SPEAKER_04: I like it.
- 16:49SPEAKER_04: No, I I like your take.
- 16:50SPEAKER_04: Uh we'll talk about it a little down the road.
- 16:52SPEAKER_04: That'll be a big one.
- 16:53SPEAKER_01: It's true.
- 16:54SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah, we'll we'll find how bad it is here in a little bit.
- 16:56SPEAKER_01: Uh TCU um really struggled with uh Texas Tech, play with their food for a long time, end up scoring 21 the fourth quarter.
- 17:03SPEAKER_01: They've they are fools gold.
- 17:05SPEAKER_01: I really like TCU.
- 17:06SPEAKER_01: They're they're a fun team to watch, they are exciting.
- 17:08SPEAKER_01: They've they're nine and oh.
- 17:09SPEAKER_01: Congratulations.
- 17:10SPEAKER_01: In a in a big 12, which is quite frankly, super deep, all top to bottom.
- 17:15SPEAKER_01: They are fools gold.
- 17:16SPEAKER_01: They are not, there's no way TCU is going to make it.
- 17:19SPEAKER_01: They're gonna lose this week to Texas.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: They're a touchdown dog of Texas this week.
- 17:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I was gonna I was gonna say that.
- 17:25SPEAKER_04: I mean, they're probably not gonna get past Texas, and we'll know.
- 17:28SPEAKER_04: Um, but the college football playoff committee seems to think otherwise right now.
- 17:33SPEAKER_04: They as well.
- 17:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, they're they're a power five team and they're 9-0, and they they do have some ranked wins.
- 17:39SPEAKER_01: I mean, I'll you know, they have played five backup quarterbacks, and Quentin Johnson's good.
- 17:43SPEAKER_01: Sonny Dyke's great coach.
- 17:44SPEAKER_01: Max Duggan's played better than we've ever seen Max Duggan play.
- 17:48SPEAKER_01: I just like I'm I know my eyes are seeing me.
- 17:50SPEAKER_01: I don't see them competing with any of the playoff teams.
- 17:53SPEAKER_01: And I hate to say that because we're we're still a month away from it, but I'm like starting, so I'm starting to think about every college football game in that lens at this point.
- 17:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, no, I agree with you.
- 18:01SPEAKER_04: Just riddle me this when you're looking at through the eyes of a college football playoff committee.
- 18:06SPEAKER_04: Last week, you've got Tennessee at one, you've got TCU, what were they?
- 18:13SPEAKER_04: Five or six?
- 18:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah, something like that.
- 18:15SPEAKER_04: Bama was just ahead of them.
- 18:17SPEAKER_04: A one-loss Bama team was just ahead of them.
- 18:19SPEAKER_01: Bama was six, Tennessee, I mean LSU was ten.
- 18:21SPEAKER_01: It was Ohio State, Michigan, TCU, I think, and Clinton.
- 18:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 18:26SPEAKER_04: Isolating TCU and Bama.
- 18:30SPEAKER_04: Bama had one loss and was ahead of TCU.
- 18:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 18:33SPEAKER_04: This week, TCU still undefeated, but Tennessee one loss behind TCU.
- 18:41SPEAKER_04: Why?
- 18:43SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 18:44SPEAKER_01: Uh you could argue, okay.
- 18:46SPEAKER_01: So I guess if I had to if Tennessee is playing TCU neutral site, I got Tennessee by 14 at least.
- 18:51SPEAKER_01: So like the points where we're going to the game.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: Don't get me wrong.
- 18:54SPEAKER_01: My only thing, I guess, I don't know, man.
- 18:58SPEAKER_01: You're not been in college football through the heat of college of Nick Saban's tenure.
- 19:02SPEAKER_01: He gets a lot of breaks.
- 19:03SPEAKER_01: No, I know.
- 19:04SPEAKER_04: That's I I think that's my my only point here is that the Bama brand carries weight, um, because there's no other argument for it.
- 19:11SPEAKER_01: No, there's not an argument for TCU to be without, I guess, except for that the Bama brand, the Bama brand has probably gotten more weight than it should.
- 19:18SPEAKER_01: And we'll talk about the Bama brand in a minute.
- 19:20SPEAKER_01: I cannot wait to talk more about it.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: Um, uh, so let's let's keep it rolling uh there.
- 19:25SPEAKER_01: Uh UNC guts out a nice win, I guess, against the terrible Virginia hookies.
- 19:31SPEAKER_01: They are 17.
- 19:32SPEAKER_01: I know we're kind of skipping into Hobart time a little bit, but I want to bring them up for a reason.
- 19:36SPEAKER_01: Uh UNC has got to be everyone's dark horse pick for the playoff at this point.
- 19:42SPEAKER_01: The rest of their schedule at Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, NC State, and then Clemson in uh the final.
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: There's, I mean, their defense is putrid.
- 19:52SPEAKER_01: We know that.
- 19:52SPEAKER_01: Gene Chiswick is a terrible defensive coordinator.
- 19:54SPEAKER_01: Um, but Drake May very well likely went win the Heisman.
- 19:57SPEAKER_01: At least he should be way up there.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: At least he invited to New York.
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: Give me a reason why they can't win those four games.
- 20:02SPEAKER_01: They're gonna be right there at four or five or six.
- 20:04SPEAKER_04: No, uh, he should totally be in New York first and foremost.
- 20:08SPEAKER_04: I agree.
- 20:08SPEAKER_04: I agree, I agree there.
- 20:10SPEAKER_04: Um I do not think their schedule, their strength of schedule and their resume, even with a Clemson win at the end of the season, should top any well, I shouldn't say any other one-loss team, because because maybe a Michigan they would have a stronger resume than a Michigan.
- 20:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 20:29SPEAKER_04: Um a one-loss TCU team, I think, would even have a stronger resume.
- 20:33SPEAKER_04: If if TCU were to run the table or drop one and then win the conference, they would still have.
- 20:41SPEAKER_04: I think you know, they're putting a little weight on the conference championship.
- 20:45SPEAKER_04: Um, but the ACC is just not what it should have been this year.
- 20:48SPEAKER_04: And terrible.
- 20:49SPEAKER_04: And and UNC has no out of conference um schedule.
- 20:53SPEAKER_04: They beat Appalachian State early.
- 20:56SPEAKER_04: That was nice.
- 20:57SPEAKER_01: Hey man, don't sleep on Florida Atlantic.
- 20:59SPEAKER_01: Uh though, sorry, Fam Fam you uh at Georgia State tough road game, the one Georgia State 35-20.
- 21:06SPEAKER_01: They lost to uh lost Notre Dame.
- 21:08SPEAKER_01: And honestly, there's a lot of these games that like they were really close.
- 21:10SPEAKER_01: They should be losses, including at Virginia.
- 21:12SPEAKER_01: Virginia is an objectively bad team.
- 21:14SPEAKER_01: Though the eyeball test is not there, but they're one of those teams that could be the beneficiary of a ton of chaos, and there is still a ton of ammunition.
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: I'm not saying they're gonna vault their way in, but I actually kind of do think they're gonna go 3-0, even though they've got Wake and NC State.
- 21:29SPEAKER_01: I think they're gonna win their uh finish season 11-1.
- 21:31SPEAKER_01: And I don't know.
- 21:32SPEAKER_01: I mean, what why do I love Clemson?
- 21:34SPEAKER_01: You know, all they need to do to beat Clemson is is get like four stops and score what they usually do.
- 21:39SPEAKER_04: I'm not sure Clemson is like Clemson's not Clemson's offense is not gonna be able to keep up, I don't think.
- 21:43SPEAKER_04: Um, what I'm thinking here is that, you know, because the UNC is definitely getting a lot of love right now.
- 21:48SPEAKER_04: I think they're the benefactor of the Notre Dame Clemson game, because all of a sudden that Notre Dame loss, when everyone wrote them off for dead, let's be honest.
- 21:58SPEAKER_04: No one's talked about or thought about Notre Dame in weeks, and all of a sudden you're like looking at Notre Dame, and you know, their their win-loss record isn't that bad, and they just knocked off Clemson, so now everyone's looking.
- 22:11SPEAKER_04: The result of that is that North Carolina lost to Notre Dame.
- 22:15SPEAKER_04: Not that that not that bad either.
- 22:17SPEAKER_05: No, not bad.
- 22:18SPEAKER_04: But really, when you know, again, that's all we have to go on.
- 22:24SPEAKER_04: For that we've got yeah.
- 22:25SPEAKER_01: They obviously they they have they have more work to do.
- 22:28SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm they have my attention.
- 22:29SPEAKER_01: They are better than they're supposed to be.
- 22:30SPEAKER_01: They're not supposed to have eight wins this team.
- 22:32SPEAKER_01: Drake May is not supposed to be a Heisman candidate.
- 22:33SPEAKER_01: No, they're a great story, and they're a great story, and Gene Chisick is not supposed to have a job, but all those things are still true, so until they're not.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: I guess we gotta be paying a little attention to the tar heels.
- 22:41SPEAKER_01: Uh let's keep it rolling.
- 22:42SPEAKER_01: Uh Kansas, Kansas is back.
- 22:44SPEAKER_01: Nice win.
- 22:45SPEAKER_01: Brought the goalpost down again.
- 22:46SPEAKER_01: 37-16.
- 22:47SPEAKER_01: I don't know what the world's happened to Oklahoma State.
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: They have been an awful football team for three straight weeks now.
- 22:53SPEAKER_04: At least it's the it's the question mark of the Big 12, man.
- 22:56SPEAKER_04: All these teams, they're great one week, and then they drop one.
- 23:00SPEAKER_04: I mean, there's no consistency.
- 23:01SPEAKER_04: I think, I think you were right um a week last week or a week or two ago when you said that all these teams are pretty much interchangeable.
- 23:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 23:10SPEAKER_01: It feels it feels a lot like that.
- 23:12SPEAKER_01: Uh, I want to give credit more credit to Kansas, Lance Leopold, uh, Jalen Daniels, Jason being the back quarterback.
- 23:18SPEAKER_01: They're they're doing awesome stuff.
- 23:19SPEAKER_01: Kudos to them on a win.
- 23:21SPEAKER_01: Did you see that clip on the internet of the uh the field the field maintenance gentleman after the game talking to all his guys?
- 23:28SPEAKER_01: So those who didn't watch it, this guy, he must be like in charge of like grounds or the uprights.
- 23:32SPEAKER_01: They brought the uprights down, they stormed the field one again, and he's talking to his like grounds crew, and he's just walking around and says, Well, they took the goalpost down again, but we should expect that to happen at this point.
- 23:41SPEAKER_01: Am I right?
- 23:41SPEAKER_01: It's just hilarious viral clip.
- 23:43SPEAKER_01: It's totally worth 15 seconds of your time.
- 23:46SPEAKER_01: Uh, Kansas football showing a little life.
- 23:48SPEAKER_01: Good for them.
- 23:48SPEAKER_01: You know what I'm saying?
- 23:49SPEAKER_01: You know, making it how long is Link's life pole gonna be around?
- 23:52SPEAKER_01: What uh five more weeks.
- 23:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, five more weeks.
- 23:56SPEAKER_01: Um, I don't know who burn you.
- 23:59SPEAKER_01: I think Nebraska's gonna hand him the bag.
- 24:01SPEAKER_01: I think Iowa might uh get rid of Ferenc and go after him.
- 24:04SPEAKER_01: Um, no, what he's done in two years, uh sorry, less a little less than two years, wildly impressive.
- 24:10SPEAKER_01: Really nice, yeah.
- 24:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:11SPEAKER_01: Um, obviously they're not they're not competing for the big Big 12 championship, but I mean they're still they're still having they're still having a great season.
- 24:17SPEAKER_01: Um, did you see this game?
- 24:19SPEAKER_01: 77-53 SMU over Houston.
- 24:23SPEAKER_01: Holy smokes! I've never seen so many points in a football game.
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: Uh, both teams individually hit the over um themselves.
- 24:33SPEAKER_01: It's insane.
- 24:34SPEAKER_01: SMU had 56 points at half.
- 24:37SPEAKER_01: Um, Clayton Toon threw seven touchdowns.
- 24:39SPEAKER_01: Tanner Mordecai was responsible for nine in a losing effort.
- 24:43SPEAKER_01: Uh, just I I I've I DDR'd this game when it was on repeat.
- 24:47SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna go back and watch it.
- 24:48SPEAKER_01: I just want to see, I want to see a football game, an actual football game not played in arena where you score every possession, which is pretty pretty much what they did, right?
- 24:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 24:58SPEAKER_04: That's that is arena league right there.
- 25:00SPEAKER_01: That's arena league right there.
- 25:02SPEAKER_01: Um 7753.
- 25:03SPEAKER_01: Uh man, Pony Express rolling.
- 25:06SPEAKER_01: Good work.
- 25:07SPEAKER_01: Uh, hell of a game.
- 25:08SPEAKER_01: Um what do we got next?
- 25:10SPEAKER_04: Um well we've got to go to um the Texas Kansas State game.
- 25:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so let's go to let's go to Texas Kansas, Texas, Kansas State.
- 25:19SPEAKER_01: Uh what do you think?
- 25:21SPEAKER_01: What do you got?
- 25:22SPEAKER_04: Well, I mean hook 'em, I guess.
- 25:26SPEAKER_04: I mean, we both we we both kind of had that reaction to Kansas State winning the week before.
- 25:31SPEAKER_04: I think we both picked K-State to keep on rolling.
- 25:35SPEAKER_04: And then Bijan Robinson just runs uh 30 times for 209 yards.
- 25:40SPEAKER_04: You love that.
- 25:41SPEAKER_04: I mean, they just ran all over him.
- 25:43SPEAKER_04: When you were got a decent day, you know, he went for almost 202 touches, but um, this was all about B.
- 25:48SPEAKER_04: John Robinson.
- 25:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:50SPEAKER_01: I I mean, you know, I was I was pretty convinced last week and the week before that that despite Kansas State's loss to TCU earlier, that they were actually the best team in the Big 12, Ducevon uh Adrian Martinez.
- 26:02SPEAKER_01: I don't that that they lost.
- 26:03SPEAKER_01: They lost together.
- 26:04SPEAKER_01: And I don't know, I really don't know what to think.
- 26:07SPEAKER_01: We're gonna find out a lot this week.
- 26:09SPEAKER_01: TCU, Texas.
- 26:10SPEAKER_01: TCU is the only undefeated team.
- 26:11SPEAKER_01: Texas, the two loss team sitting atop.
- 26:14SPEAKER_01: Um, but Baylor, K-State, Texas, they're all right there.
- 26:18SPEAKER_01: Two of those, I don't I'm assuming TCU is gonna be one of them, but I wouldn't be surprised if any combination of them are there.
- 26:24SPEAKER_01: And there's ammo.
- 26:25SPEAKER_01: And these if you look at the at those four teams, the last three weeks, uh, Baylor, Texas, Kansas State, and TCU, there's ammo on that schedule for all of them to get really good wins and take some losses.
- 26:37SPEAKER_01: So who's gonna win who's going to the Big 12 championship?
- 26:40SPEAKER_01: And I'm assuming it's in Jerry World again, I have no idea at this point.
- 26:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah, this is definitely one of those conferences where there's still so much to play out and so much to play for, and and there's, you know, we don't have a clear picture yet.
- 26:54SPEAKER_04: No, there's there's a lot to have this weekend, is gonna tell us a lot.
- 26:57SPEAKER_01: You know, it's funny.
- 26:58SPEAKER_01: This we're look we're we're talking a lot about these like kind of top heavy, like it seems like it seems like more or less like the SEC is just about settled, at least, at least in terms of who's going to Atlanta.
- 27:06SPEAKER_01: Big Ten, we're gonna find out really.
- 27:09SPEAKER_01: Really just a matter of the Big Ten championship is effectively gonna be in Columbus.
- 27:12SPEAKER_01: The ACC, I mean they're so bad, I'm not sure who who who actually cares.
- 27:16SPEAKER_01: The Big 12 and the Pac-12 are gonna be really interesting football.
- 27:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah, Pac-12, especially.
- 27:22SPEAKER_01: They both have in the same situation in the Pac-12.
- 27:25SPEAKER_01: Uh, USC, Utah, Oregon, UW are all right there, and the all four of them are still within range.
- 27:33SPEAKER_01: And have to play each other.
- 27:34SPEAKER_01: And have to play each other.
- 27:35SPEAKER_01: So, like we're we're we're looking at two conferences that very well might uh a playoff contender might emerge, or they might play themselves right out of it.
- 27:43SPEAKER_01: There's a world where the Big 12 nor the Pac-12 make the playoff, but they're be playing really exciting football for the next three weeks.
- 27:49SPEAKER_01: I'm my point I'm trying to say is I'm I'm almost from a regular season standpoint, I'm almost more interested in the Big 12 and Pac-12 this last month than the other conferences going forward.
- 28:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah, there's every single one of those games, I mean, we'll will have potential playoff ramifications, which in the in in years past, um, you know, you've kind of got your top four and they're pretty much settled for the most part, unless somebody drops a clunker or something like that happens.
- 28:20SPEAKER_04: And this year has been a lot of fun because we've had a lot more parity, a lot more shuffling, a lot more um, just a lot more exciting football.
- 28:30SPEAKER_01: And I appreciate that both those conferences are actually they don't they don't have divisions like the Big Ten SEC and ACC do.
- 28:36SPEAKER_01: Both of those most of conferences, just the top two teams, are gonna get a shot to play.
- 28:40SPEAKER_01: The Pac-12 championship in Vegas in the the new Raider Stadium is on December, is going to be awesome.
- 28:46SPEAKER_01: Um so and honestly, Utah, UCLA, USC, Oregon, anyone could be there.
- 28:51SPEAKER_01: But look, we're we're all getting off the rails a little bit.
- 28:53SPEAKER_01: Uh Bo Knicks, Oregon rolled 49 to 10 versus Colorado.
- 28:56SPEAKER_01: Bo Nicks looks awesome again.
- 28:58SPEAKER_01: I is are is he I know I recognize Colorado's.
- 29:02SPEAKER_04: Here's the thing.
- 29:02SPEAKER_04: I don't care.
- 29:03SPEAKER_04: It's Colorado.
- 29:04SPEAKER_04: Colorado is like the worst team in college football.
- 29:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, period.
- 29:08SPEAKER_04: He could have like he could have picked a field goal in that game.
- 29:12SPEAKER_04: I don't care what he does, doesn't matter to me.
- 29:15SPEAKER_04: He all hit all of Oregon's season and Bo Nix's Heisman chances are still in front of them.
- 29:23SPEAKER_04: They performed on the stretch and he does what he's supposed to this weekend, starting this weekend, then we'll talk.
- 29:30SPEAKER_04: But yeah, he's having a great season.
- 29:31SPEAKER_04: They're having a great season.
- 29:32SPEAKER_04: Um, but yeah, I don't care how great he looked against Colorado.
- 29:36SPEAKER_01: Yep, I agree.
- 29:37SPEAKER_01: I agree.
- 29:37SPEAKER_01: Uh NC State, uh Gutsy win.
- 29:40SPEAKER_01: Um, no Devin Leary, no problem.
- 29:42SPEAKER_01: Kudos to the back end coming in, beating Wake.
- 29:44SPEAKER_01: Wake is a good team.
- 29:45SPEAKER_01: Um, Wake has seemed to as has his season has seemed to have soured.
- 29:49SPEAKER_01: Um, they've now had a strong couple bad, bad, bad games together.
- 29:53SPEAKER_01: Um uh NC State uh won 30 to 21.
- 29:58SPEAKER_01: Um NC State, two point yards carry, Marcus Morris, three touchdowns.
- 30:03SPEAKER_01: Uh what happened is I you know I'm a big Deks guy.
- 30:06SPEAKER_01: I don't really know how to explain this one away.
- 30:08SPEAKER_01: Um, NC State just took it to him, frankly.
- 30:11SPEAKER_04: Well, NC State has always had a good defense, especially in their secondary.
- 30:15SPEAKER_04: They play really aggressive.
- 30:16SPEAKER_04: Um, they turned them over, they turned Wake over three times.
- 30:19SPEAKER_04: Sam Hartman threw three picks, and this is kind of the the NC State Wolfpack secondary that we've been looking for, that they haven't played that way in the games that they've dropped.
- 30:30SPEAKER_01: No.
- 30:31SPEAKER_04: Um so it was a nice bounce back for them.
- 30:33SPEAKER_04: That's kind of the way they we expected them to play all year long.
- 30:37SPEAKER_01: NC State's always had the front seven.
- 30:39SPEAKER_01: It was the back end that we didn't think was going to do it, and they they they came out today.
- 30:42SPEAKER_01: Sam Hartman still did for 400 yards and two touchdowns, but wasn't enough.
- 30:45SPEAKER_01: Uh, kudos to NC State Wolfpack.
- 30:47SPEAKER_01: Uh I honestly I kind of left them for dead.
- 30:50SPEAKER_01: They're kind of what that they're kind of that custom, the team I really liked a lot in the preseason, kind of like Utah.
- 30:54SPEAKER_01: Um, and I'm you know, it's weird because we always when we talk about these teams, when they lose two games, like, oh, you're out of the playoff, they're done.
- 31:02SPEAKER_01: They're still really good at football.
- 31:03SPEAKER_01: They're still really good football teams who who will hand out a lot of losses.
- 31:07SPEAKER_01: And NC State is clearly one of those teams.
- 31:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's still really hard to win football games.
- 31:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 31:12SPEAKER_04: Just week to week.
- 31:13SPEAKER_04: It's hard to win lots of games.
- 31:15SPEAKER_04: It just is.
- 31:16SPEAKER_04: This is just the way so you should get credit for being a top 20 team, top 25 team that wins eight, nine games.
- 31:24SPEAKER_04: It shouldn't be all about the national championship and the top four teams in the country.
- 31:28SPEAKER_01: You're right, you're right, especially for us.
- 31:29SPEAKER_01: The college football cast, the football podcast loves all things college football.
- 31:33SPEAKER_01: Um, other games of note that are really particularly interesting.
- 31:36SPEAKER_01: Uh UW Advances, they're still alive in the pack in the pack.
- 31:40SPEAKER_01: Um, USC took care of uh Cal 41-35.
- 31:44SPEAKER_01: That game is probably closer than it should have been.
- 31:45SPEAKER_01: USC.
- 31:46SPEAKER_03: Oh man, Cal is terrible.
- 31:47SPEAKER_03: That is a head scratcher for me.
- 31:49SPEAKER_01: Well, because I mean USC's defense is so bad, and they've been living off they have to, they are only going to keep keep surviving if they keep getting so many turnovers.
- 31:57SPEAKER_01: But if this if they the the moment USC plays a disciplined team, and Utah is the most disciplined team they've played this year, happens to be their only loss.
- 32:05SPEAKER_01: When they play disciplined football teams, they're gonna lose because they've just been getting so many turnovers, so many extra possessions.
- 32:12SPEAKER_01: Kudos to their subpar defense for forcing a lot of those turnovers, but you can't live and die off those.
- 32:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 32:19SPEAKER_01: Uh, Utah takes care of business, Arizona, Penn State, nice little bounce back, uh, 45-14.
- 32:25SPEAKER_01: Uh Tom Allen, the coach of Indiana, you gotta think he's about done.
- 32:28SPEAKER_01: Three and six this year.
- 32:29SPEAKER_01: I think that thing just keeps continuing to go sideways.
- 32:31SPEAKER_01: Uh, I don't know to say about who's your country.
- 32:34SPEAKER_01: Uh, Michigan State, big upset.
- 32:36SPEAKER_01: I've thought the fighting line now were gonna cruise with the Big Ten West.
- 32:40SPEAKER_01: Uh Tuck Mel Tucker fighting for his$80 million contract, gets a monster win.
- 32:46SPEAKER_01: Um, now let's you know puff the brakes on Illinois a little bit, but Michigan State needed this.
- 32:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 32:52SPEAKER_04: Well, this is was one of those games that the style matched up well for them.
- 32:57SPEAKER_04: And, you know, all these games are are are style based, and a 23 to 15 game is right up Michigan State's alley.
- 33:06SPEAKER_04: It's all about you know, ball control, who can establish the run, who can win in the trenches, and it went Michigan State's way.
- 33:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and they did it on the road, too, which is also impressive because Michigan State hasn't particularly good anywhere home the road, but being on but in general, being on the road is tougher.
- 33:23SPEAKER_01: So kudos to that.
- 33:24SPEAKER_01: Um Liberty.
- 33:27SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
- 33:28SPEAKER_01: Uh Liberty, the Liberty Flames, the Flama Bancas, Liberty Flames takedown Arkansas.
- 33:33SPEAKER_01: Well, so here's my takeaway from that.
- 33:35SPEAKER_01: Um, Q Freeze is a good coach, and a coach who will also not be at despite just signing an extension, he's not going to be there next year, I'm pretty sure.
- 33:43SPEAKER_01: Um, the the thing takeaway from me is the Sam Pittman honeymoon is 100% over.
- 33:48SPEAKER_01: Um, that you know, it was the offseason.
- 33:51SPEAKER_01: We had Arkansas got a lot of love.
- 33:53SPEAKER_01: They had a great season.
- 33:54SPEAKER_01: Traylon Burks went off to the sunset.
- 33:56SPEAKER_01: First round pick for the Titans, I think.
- 33:58SPEAKER_01: Um, this team has gone sideways and quickly.
- 34:02SPEAKER_01: And Liberty, first ever, I think, SEC win.
- 34:06SPEAKER_01: I think for the for the for Liberty.
- 34:07SPEAKER_01: Is that what I saw?
- 34:08SPEAKER_01: Probably.
- 34:09SPEAKER_04: Um, so probably, yes.
- 34:12SPEAKER_04: I mean, yeah, I mean, probably, right?
- 34:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I would say probably.
- 34:16SPEAKER_05: It's good, good bet.
- 34:18SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 34:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 34:19SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 34:19SPEAKER_04: I think we're gonna go with yes.
- 34:21SPEAKER_04: So this this to me, this game's all about KJ Jefferson.
- 34:25SPEAKER_04: He's been injured, he clearly is not himself.
- 34:28SPEAKER_04: Uh, Hugh Freeze is obviously a good coach.
- 34:31SPEAKER_04: Um, I I I don't know.
- 34:33SPEAKER_04: I don't know what to think about Sam Pittman.
- 34:36SPEAKER_04: Um he's he's done a great job there.
- 34:40SPEAKER_04: I mean, yeah, Arkansas has had a really, really tough schedule.
- 34:44SPEAKER_04: It's maybe a little bit of schedule fatigue.
- 34:47SPEAKER_04: Liberty is no pushover.
- 34:48SPEAKER_01: And we talked about that.
- 34:49SPEAKER_01: Like who we the whoever whoever wrote Arkansas's schedule three years ago, that guy, whoever that is needs to be fired.
- 34:54SPEAKER_01: Ridiculous.
- 34:55SPEAKER_04: Ridiculous.
- 34:55SPEAKER_04: Um, but I think, yeah, I mean, I think Arkansas's a really good team that um has had a tough year and they can't keep their star quarterback healthy.
- 35:06SPEAKER_04: And that that's tough.
- 35:07SPEAKER_01: Um and they're saying they don't think I mean we'll we'll talk about LSU Arkansas in a minute because they're playing Saturday, but I they they're saying they're they don't even think he's gonna play this this the backups, he's not gonna start on Saturday as well, so he's not even he's not even back yet.
- 35:20SPEAKER_01: So he's still hampered by a lot of things.
- 35:22SPEAKER_04: So yeah, I would say just based on I mean we can go ahead and transition right into that if you want, but based on the schedule and and and where this game kind of falls for LSU, I'd say this would have been a little bit of a scary spot.
- 35:40SPEAKER_04: Um, but if KJ Jefferson can't go, then never mind.
- 35:47SPEAKER_01: I'm feeling the same way.
- 35:47SPEAKER_01: I will before I do that, we'll say the SEC really quickly.
- 35:50SPEAKER_01: Texas AM loses again.
- 35:52SPEAKER_01: Uh 41-30, 41-24.
- 35:54SPEAKER_01: I'll give Texas AM a little bit of a break.
- 35:56SPEAKER_01: Did you hear that?
- 35:57SPEAKER_01: Like half of the team had the flu.
- 35:59SPEAKER_01: So they're short, like 17 players.
- 36:02SPEAKER_04: Um I saw a list, yeah, and it was like I don't know, maybe 20 long.
- 36:06SPEAKER_04: Here's the thing, though.
- 36:08SPEAKER_04: How many of those guys couldn't play, and how many of those guys didn't feel like playing?
- 36:16SPEAKER_01: Uh I think not zero.
- 36:19SPEAKER_04: I think I think they're ready for the season to be over.
- 36:22SPEAKER_01: They are ready to be over.
- 36:23SPEAKER_01: Here's the thing.
- 36:24SPEAKER_01: They're not, they're one and five.
- 36:25SPEAKER_01: They have to win out, they have to win out to go bowling.
- 36:27SPEAKER_01: They're not gonna win out.
- 36:29SPEAKER_04: Um, I don't think they care about going bowling, the players, anyway, at this point in the season.
- 36:33SPEAKER_04: All of their hopes and dreams are gone.
- 36:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 36:36SPEAKER_01: Well, I just I just don't think they want to be sitting.
- 36:38SPEAKER_01: The problem for AM is I don't think they want to be sitting with idle hands for the month of December.
- 36:42SPEAKER_01: You know, like one of the things that bowl season does, even for bad teams that are six and six or seven and five, is it gets your team focused and training, everyone's still in the building, you're getting better.
- 36:52SPEAKER_01: It's almost like a glorified pre-spring spring game for a lot of these teams.
- 36:56SPEAKER_04: I 100% agree with you.
- 36:58SPEAKER_04: And if this was a program rebuilding, I would even more so agree with you.
- 37:03SPEAKER_04: This is a bunch of four and five stars that came over through NIL and Portal and whatnot.
- 37:09SPEAKER_04: Money getting paid to kind of put together a super team, and things are falling apart in front of them.
- 37:17SPEAKER_04: They're looking at the portal now.
- 37:19SPEAKER_04: I mean, they're I guarantee you a lot of these guys, just based on the way they've played, based on their effort, um, based on the style of coaching that they've gotten, they're ready to go.
- 37:31SPEAKER_04: I mean, Texas AM is not finding an answer.
- 37:35SPEAKER_01: No, it feels like there's blood on the water right now for AM.
- 37:38SPEAKER_01: And like all the I'm on a b I'm on a bunch of SEC message boards, obviously, and they talk about like who who can we get, who can we pick off?
- 37:44SPEAKER_01: You know, I think I think there is an expectation that SEC teams and big town, uh, just other teams in the country are gonna look at these, are gonna call these guys and say, I got NIL for you and a starting job, and we're competing for our conference or division or maybe a playoff spot.
- 37:59SPEAKER_01: Come play for us.
- 37:59SPEAKER_01: I know LSU's gonna call at least a couple of those guys.
- 38:02SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm sure Tennessee is as well, among a dozen other top flight programs.
- 38:06SPEAKER_01: Um, and my my point about the bull practice was like that keeps a lot of that at bay because then you see them every day.
- 38:14SPEAKER_01: You're in the they're in the they're in the they're in the building with you, but now those guys are at home.
- 38:19SPEAKER_01: They're see you in the see you in the spring, they're taking, they're taking phone calls, they have them got agents.
- 38:24SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's gonna be it's gonna be the most entertaining, it's gonna be like NBA pre, it's gonna be like the NBA offseason.
- 38:30SPEAKER_01: It's gonna be the most entertaining college football offseason in a long time.
- 38:34SPEAKER_04: The way that you guard against that stuff in this new era is you've gotta build a culture that the kids want to be there and they want to play for you.
- 38:45SPEAKER_04: Sure.
- 38:45SPEAKER_04: And that's clearly not the culture that they have at AM.
- 38:51SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 38:51SPEAKER_04: So that's not to say that you can't do it with what they've with the approach that they've tried to take, um, but they haven't been successful at it.
- 39:02SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 39:03SPEAKER_04: Because it's all a new this is all a new landscape.
- 39:06SPEAKER_04: And so, you know, I'm not faulting them for their approach that they've taken, um, but it hasn't worked, clearly.
- 39:13SPEAKER_04: You know what else?
- 39:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 39:16SPEAKER_01: You know what else helps build good culture?
- 39:19SPEAKER_01: Not sucking at football, just in general.
- 39:21SPEAKER_01: That like winning football games, like that kind of helps.
- 39:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but you gotta get, you know, you assemble the the guys, you assemble the players, and then you've got to get the buy-in the same way that you would with a bunch of two-star guys that are from the community college down the road.
- 39:36SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna go ahead and play my cards right here.
- 39:38SPEAKER_01: Texas AM losing is one of the is one of those teams that I really enjoy watching losing.
- 39:43SPEAKER_01: As an LSU fan, just the rival, you know, we all have these teams.
- 39:47SPEAKER_01: There are some teams that like I'm not really a fan of, but I'm happy when they do well.
- 39:51SPEAKER_01: There are some teams that I actively hate that I will never root for.
- 39:54SPEAKER_01: Florida and Alabama being one A and one B.
- 39:57SPEAKER_01: You I'm Tennessee fans the exact same way.
- 39:59SPEAKER_01: Texas AM team is not a team I like, and I just like watching them suffer.
- 40:03SPEAKER_01: I love the Jimbo Fisher contract.
- 40:05SPEAKER_01: I love the fact that they're three and six.
- 40:07SPEAKER_01: I love the eight and four joke, which is gonna be the four and eight joke this year.
- 40:10SPEAKER_01: So I take the reason I keep bringing them.
- 40:12SPEAKER_01: Well, like I mean, a lot of listeners are asking, why are we still talking about this terrible SEC team?
- 40:17SPEAKER_01: It's because I hate them and I love talking about them.
- 40:19SPEAKER_04: It's not just that, though.
- 40:20SPEAKER_04: They were preseason top five, some people's national championship pick.
- 40:26SPEAKER_04: They've got Jimbo Fisher.
- 40:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, they've got Jimbo Fisher that who, you know, the everything about this program has been we're back, we're larger than life.
- 40:36SPEAKER_04: Everyone dunks on Texas for that.
- 40:38SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 40:39SPEAKER_04: AM is the bigger, bigger joke than any other team.
- 40:43SPEAKER_01: Texas AM would gladly trade for Texas season right now in a blink.
- 40:46SPEAKER_01: Oh, 100%.
- 40:47SPEAKER_01: So yeah.
- 40:48SPEAKER_01: So yeah, everyone's taking a victory lap on Texas AM.
- 40:50SPEAKER_01: I'm no different, so that's where that is.
- 40:52SPEAKER_01: All right, that's enough.
- 40:53SPEAKER_01: Um, oh, we got let's talk quickly about uh Virginia Tech uh and uh UVA.
- 40:58SPEAKER_01: All right, I'll do UVA's first.
- 41:00SPEAKER_01: Uh UVA show some signs of life.
- 41:02SPEAKER_01: Um after that abysmal Miami game, which I saw with my own eyeballs in person in Charlottesville, um, they were able to put 28 points on the board, and Brent Armstrong did some things and they ran the ball a little bit well.
- 41:12SPEAKER_01: I mean, I get recognize UNC's defense is the cure for a lot of offenses, but it was nice to see UVA show some life.
- 41:19SPEAKER_01: They're three and six, they're not going bowling.
- 41:22SPEAKER_01: Um, but I think I still think they can win one or one or two more games.
- 41:26SPEAKER_01: Anything on uh UNC UVA, Mike?
- 41:29SPEAKER_04: Um, no, I think you know their defense did a pretty good job holding UNC.
- 41:35SPEAKER_04: I mean, that's good call.
- 41:36SPEAKER_04: Pretty solid.
- 41:37SPEAKER_04: I mean, that was a close game.
- 41:39SPEAKER_04: That's I mean, that's kind of a a building block for me.
- 41:43SPEAKER_04: Um, you know, that was not the same loss.
- 41:47SPEAKER_04: You know, I know a loss is a loss, but that's not the same loss that you've had in previous weeks.
- 41:53SPEAKER_04: Uh, you're looking at a really tough guitar heel team, well coached, um, a lot of veterans, uh, a star quarterback, and they could have easily won that game.
- 42:05SPEAKER_04: And so, you know, in your first year, that's a that's a big win.
- 42:09SPEAKER_04: I know that we don't play in moral victories, but that's a moral victory.
- 42:12SPEAKER_01: No, and and and for UVAs, for this UVA team, they have to have them.
- 42:15SPEAKER_01: There, I mean, their wins are Georgia Tech, Richmond, and ODU, I believe.
- 42:20SPEAKER_01: So I hate to say it, but a close loss to an 8-1 uh Tar Heel squad is probably as good as it gets.
- 42:27SPEAKER_01: So uh onward.
- 42:28SPEAKER_01: Um you can build on that stuff.
- 42:30SPEAKER_01: I think so too.
- 42:31SPEAKER_04: That's that I think that's you take that next week, and that gives you confidence and you know you can compete.
- 42:36SPEAKER_01: If you can keep if you can keep your players focused, I think you can do that as well.
- 42:39SPEAKER_01: Uh Georgia Tech 28, uh Virginia Tech 27.
- 42:43SPEAKER_01: Oh, just another gut-wrenching loss.
- 42:46SPEAKER_01: Uh, Virginia Tech was winning.
- 42:48SPEAKER_01: What's the the score was 27 to 16 at the start of the fourth quarter?
- 42:53SPEAKER_01: This is the second week in a row when the Hokies have had a team on the ropes.
- 42:57SPEAKER_01: They should have beat NC State last week, and they let of Georgia Tech of all teams, who's actually still alive in the coastal division, funny enough.
- 43:07SPEAKER_01: Um, they let him back in the game and they lost.
- 43:10SPEAKER_01: And I'm I I my heart goes out to Brent High, Brent Pry and my Hokie brethren out there.
- 43:16SPEAKER_01: It's a tough search, it's just a tough season.
- 43:18SPEAKER_01: It continues.
- 43:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah, um Virginia Tech just found a way to lose this game more than Georgia Tech won it.
- 43:26SPEAKER_04: Um Virginia Tech just kind of choked it away.
- 43:29SPEAKER_04: You know, they they turned the ball over four times, they had three fumbles.
- 43:34SPEAKER_04: Uh Georgia Tech made key plays uh down the stretch.
- 43:38SPEAKER_04: And um I don't know.
- 43:41SPEAKER_04: It just it was one of those games where it looked like Virginia Tech was in control um and they just let it let it slip away.
- 43:49SPEAKER_04: It's almost like they didn't they didn't put the foot on the throat when they had the chance.
- 43:57SPEAKER_04: They just it's almost like they they thought the game was over, they let up.
- 44:01SPEAKER_04: I don't know how to describe it.
- 44:02SPEAKER_04: I watched it, I saw with my eyes, and it was kind of like they played not to lose.
- 44:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, it was it was some of that.
- 44:11SPEAKER_01: Um, I did I did see some couple freshmen get out in the field.
- 44:14SPEAKER_01: There's there's some there's some those cornerbacks for the freshman cornerbacks got some time, so there are pieces, there are hints of future of a brighter side of the head.
- 44:23SPEAKER_01: You know, Grant Wells, we all know is not the solution.
- 44:25SPEAKER_01: He's likely not gonna be there next year.
- 44:27SPEAKER_01: Um, but she, you know, again, one you gotta give him time.
- 44:30SPEAKER_01: It sucks that tech has lost six straight.
- 44:32SPEAKER_01: And this is then and this is three straight now by less than a touchdown.
- 44:35SPEAKER_01: Miami, NC State, and Georgia Tech, all very, very winnable games.
- 44:39SPEAKER_02: None of them went their way.
- 44:40SPEAKER_02: Hopefully they can get a win or two down the stretch.
- 44:43SPEAKER_02: I think that's it for me and the hookies.
- 44:45SPEAKER_02: Anything else?
- 44:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah, those close losses sting more.
- 44:47SPEAKER_04: Grant Wells played about as mediocre as you can play 164 yards with a touchdown or with an interception, sorry.
- 44:56SPEAKER_04: 14 of 25.
- 44:58SPEAKER_04: He's just, you know, you can't win with with that.
- 45:02SPEAKER_04: You can't so I don't know.
- 45:05SPEAKER_04: It sucks to see.
- 45:06SPEAKER_04: Uh, a couple of these games could have gone the other way.
- 45:09SPEAKER_04: Um, yeah, it is what it is.
- 45:12SPEAKER_04: Keep on keep on trucking.
- 45:14SPEAKER_04: Keep on trucking.
- 45:15SPEAKER_01: All right, let's talk about the Grand Daddy Mall.
- 45:16SPEAKER_01: The best game of the weekend, obviously.
- 45:17SPEAKER_01: The game that everyone really wants to hear about.
- 45:19SPEAKER_01: Uh, my fighting LSU Tigers, Football Tigers 32, Alabama 31 in overtime, uh, went for two to get the win.
- 45:28SPEAKER_01: One of the most satisfying, fun wins of my these games like this, like the game that Mike had against um Alabama three weeks ago, um, like just the game, the game that I had last night.
- 45:41SPEAKER_01: This is why Mike and I are fans.
- 45:42SPEAKER_01: These are the games, these are the moments, these are the emotional highs that are so fun.
- 45:47SPEAKER_01: There is nothing more satisfying as an LSU fan than beating Nick Saban.
- 45:51SPEAKER_01: Um, and it was just an awesome game.
- 45:54SPEAKER_01: Um, freshmen came to play, they showed up.
- 45:56SPEAKER_01: Harold Perkins, number 40, continues to show while he's a star.
- 46:01SPEAKER_01: Um, we are surging.
- 46:03SPEAKER_01: I, you know, I I I'm pretty sure that we're gonna win the West.
- 46:06SPEAKER_01: I'm pretty sure that we're gonna go to Atlanta.
- 46:08SPEAKER_01: What's gonna happen in Atlanta?
- 46:09SPEAKER_01: I'm not that excited about, but we're um this team is way ahead of schedule, and I I just couldn't be more excited about it.
- 46:16SPEAKER_01: I mean, I'm you watch the game, give me your thoughts.
- 46:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I I would agree with you.
- 46:21SPEAKER_04: Um I loved I loved the approach.
- 46:25SPEAKER_04: Um Bryce Young looked mortal.
- 46:28SPEAKER_04: Um, he's a fantastic quarterback, and you know, he went for 328, a touchdown and an interception.
- 46:35SPEAKER_04: Um, I think one of the bigger things to me is was LC was able to run the ball effectively.
- 46:42SPEAKER_04: Jaden Daniels did a good job.
- 46:44SPEAKER_04: I think they're letting him play more and more.
- 46:46SPEAKER_04: He's getting more and more comfortable.
- 46:47SPEAKER_04: They're playing loose, they're playing confident.
- 46:50SPEAKER_04: And again, you know, everyone's talking about Alabama's struggles on the road, which are true.
- 46:56SPEAKER_04: They've had struggles on the road, but every top team is is struggling against really good teams on the road.
- 47:04SPEAKER_04: And so this was just they walked into a bit of a freight train.
- 47:10SPEAKER_04: I didn't see it coming.
- 47:11SPEAKER_04: I I thought Bama, I thought Bama's offense would be too much for LSU.
- 47:16SPEAKER_01: You know, I I I want to give Bryce Young a lot of credit.
- 47:19SPEAKER_01: I hate him, and I'm so glad he's that's the I'm I am so glad that this is the last time LSU will ever have to play him.
- 47:24SPEAKER_01: I'm glad he's in so good.
- 47:25SPEAKER_01: He is so good.
- 47:26SPEAKER_01: He's their whole team right now.
- 47:27SPEAKER_01: That's what I was gonna that's that's exactly what I was gonna get to.
- 47:30SPEAKER_01: This whole Alabama team is three guys on the field Jameer Gibbs, the uh Bryce Young, and Will Anderson.
- 47:36SPEAKER_01: And Will Anderson isn't even in the same category of those guys.
- 47:40SPEAKER_01: His season is kind of underwhelming by the standards that he was supposed to have.
- 47:44SPEAKER_01: Um, the mat the fall off after Gibbs at running back is dramatic.
- 47:50SPEAKER_01: Um, there are no receivers, you know.
- 47:53SPEAKER_01: Alabama, Amari Cooper, Calvin Ridley, Julio Jones, uh Jamison Williams, um, all of those guys, uh, all of those guys who uh Tua was throwing the ball to.
- 48:02SPEAKER_01: They are used to having some absolute menace on the on the wilds.
- 48:07SPEAKER_01: They don't have it this year.
- 48:08SPEAKER_01: And on defense as well, there's no Mika Finzpatrick, there's no Dante Hightower, uh, Jonathan Allen, Daron Payne.
- 48:14SPEAKER_01: There aren't these superstars.
- 48:16SPEAKER_01: They've been just been churning out on the other side of the ball, and the quantity that they're expecting between the penalties, the multiple losses.
- 48:25SPEAKER_01: This is the we the I this is the worst Alabama team since 2007, I think.
- 48:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and that doesn't make it any less sweet.
- 48:33SPEAKER_04: No, sure doesn't.
- 48:34SPEAKER_04: No, it doesn't.
- 48:35SPEAKER_04: They still have the dudes, they still have all the guys, they still have them every year, you know, top-ranked recruiting classes, um, heads will roll.
- 48:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they're firing both their coordinators this year.
- 48:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah, because and I'm I'm not even I don't pretend to be an X's and O's guy, but um, what you just mentioned with Will Anderson, um, that's not something that is because he is not a superstar.
- 49:01SPEAKER_01: No, it's because Pete Golding is running stunts with him instead of like in and running him into guards and tackles instead of him.
- 49:08SPEAKER_03: They dropped him back into coverage against stunts.
- 49:10SPEAKER_01: I'm I think Pete Golding's is a dunce.
- 49:12SPEAKER_01: Pete Golding is a defensive coordinator uh for Alabama, and he's just a shell of other other defensive coaches they've had there.
- 49:18SPEAKER_01: Pruitt, Kirby Smart, who've just done so much better things with that unit.
- 49:22SPEAKER_01: And the other side of the ball, uh Bill O'Brien, he's not he's not doing any, he's not really doing Bryce Young or that offense any favors either.
- 49:29SPEAKER_01: His play calling is questionable as well.
- 49:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I mean, Bryce Young is doing everything himself, even on the plays.
- 49:35SPEAKER_04: I mean, that play that he escaped and scrambled up through the pocket to his right, and and he threw a touchdown pass.
- 49:45SPEAKER_04: I mean, what it does is is Patrick Mahomes-ish.
- 49:49SPEAKER_01: There were so many times, and I was when I was what I was watching the game alone with my wife, that where we're we had our hands on him, we wrapped him up, and he snuck out, and it was just backbreaking.
- 49:57SPEAKER_01: It's just so depressing to get beat like that.
- 49:59SPEAKER_01: Like the touchdown pass where we had like four different guys had him for down for a sack.
- 50:03SPEAKER_01: Or the the guys in the secondary poked their eyes in the backfield.
- 50:07SPEAKER_01: I think that's the one I was thinking of too.
- 50:09SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, just it hurt, it hurt my soul.
- 50:11SPEAKER_04: Okay, so enough, enough Bama.
- 50:13SPEAKER_01: Let's talk about Brian Kelly.
- 50:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 50:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he obviously he said family, and that was a wrong way.
- 50:22SPEAKER_01: He wasn't supposed to do that.
- 50:23SPEAKER_01: He's a Midwest guy from Cincinnati and Notre Dame.
- 50:26SPEAKER_01: He doesn't know anything about the South.
- 50:27SPEAKER_01: He's a terrible fit.
- 50:28SPEAKER_01: Forget all of that.
- 50:29SPEAKER_01: He's a bad dancer, he's a bad dancer.
- 50:32SPEAKER_01: He he did the spinny camera thing that everybody for Walker How they got everybody really upset about.
- 50:36SPEAKER_01: There is this whole world, but those who don't know what Mike and I are talking about.
- 50:39SPEAKER_01: There's this whole world of criticism where everybody was dunking on uh internet fodder, just the internet fodder, things you talk about college football in August and July because there's literally nothing to talk about.
- 50:49SPEAKER_01: So, like it was just fodder.
- 50:51SPEAKER_01: Brian Kelly was getting a ton of shade, and obviously losing week one to Florida State didn't help any of that, but it didn't matter.
- 50:58SPEAKER_01: His his what he has been able to instill this quickly.
- 51:02SPEAKER_01: I'm I say it every week, I'm gonna say it every I'm excited every week.
- 51:05SPEAKER_01: So just here it comes.
- 51:06SPEAKER_01: 39 scholarship guys nine months ago on this team.
- 51:09SPEAKER_01: 39 scholarship guys, and this team is surging its way to an SEC championship in year one.
- 51:16SPEAKER_01: Um, I just you can't say enough things about the turnaround of how well he's made this team look like if you I mean I almost like don't want to watch the Florida State because I remember how like how awful the blown coverages were, the special teams disasters, the offensive play calling only.
- 51:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like only looking like and I mean that offense knew.
- 51:42SPEAKER_04: Um the starter.
- 51:43SPEAKER_01: He didn't really turn it on, really.
- 51:45SPEAKER_01: He almost lost, he almost though he almost lost the game when he threw for 85 yards against that terrible Auburn game.
- 51:51SPEAKER_01: We won that game, which was great, but that was the moment where it's like, is it time to give it to the next kid?
- 51:56SPEAKER_01: And then it was the week after at Florida where it's like, oh my god, he turned it on.
- 52:00SPEAKER_01: Like there was something happened in his mind, the play call, Mike Denbrook, office coordinator, they got on the same page, and Jaden Daniels has been meteoric ever since.
- 52:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I think he just needed to get out of his head a little bit, play fast, play loose, stop thinking so much, stop questioning his decision making.
- 52:16SPEAKER_04: Um, I loved Brian Kelly's call to go for two.
- 52:20SPEAKER_04: Oh my god.
- 52:20SPEAKER_04: But I think that I also think that's kind of a no-brainer because I think something that I think he said post-game is what any of us would think.
- 52:30SPEAKER_04: If you told me that I've got one play and if I execute it, I beat Bama.
- 52:35SPEAKER_04: I'll take that all day.
- 52:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 52:36SPEAKER_01: And he yeah, it's it takes a lot, it takes a lot of, it takes big, big cojones to just say that and to do that.
- 52:42SPEAKER_01: And he did.
- 52:43SPEAKER_01: I was staying there when Ann and I were watching, I'm literally, I was I was hands on my knees in front of the television, just holding on my hat with deal life, and just saying to myself, I hate this, I hate this call, I hate this call, please don't do it, I hate this call.
- 52:54SPEAKER_01: And he hit it and he executed and he was right.
- 52:56SPEAKER_01: But the the but the funny thing is is like in the moment I was scared because I didn't want to lose, obviously.
- 53:01SPEAKER_01: But when I told Anna when we went to overtime, they have a much better kicker and a much better quarterback.
- 53:06SPEAKER_01: We're going to lose this overtime unless something crazy happens.
- 53:09SPEAKER_01: And I think Brian Kelly, and I think we're talking about the same thing.
- 53:11SPEAKER_01: I think Brian Kelly said, Here's my shot to win.
- 53:14SPEAKER_01: Because if we go to four overtimes, we're gonna lose.
- 53:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and and no disrespect to LSU at all.
- 53:19SPEAKER_04: But when you have a better team roster-wise, yeah, and you have one chance to beat them versus, you know, yeah, trading blows, take your one shot.
- 53:32SPEAKER_01: No, we had them on the ropes, and that was it.
- 53:34SPEAKER_01: And the play before it, the the the run play that was so executed, they were, you know, like the funny thing is on that two-point conversion, you saw the guy run off the field.
- 53:41SPEAKER_01: We almost had two free shots at it, too.
- 53:43SPEAKER_01: That was the other thing that made me so upset.
- 53:46SPEAKER_01: Because before the play, before obviously the reason it didn't, because it was um Mason Taylor, the tight end, it was a switchback.
- 53:52SPEAKER_01: He was he was they were making sure that he was in man coverage and it was essentially uh our out to the flats.
- 53:57SPEAKER_01: So he couldn't hurry up and hike the ball because Mason Taylor had to run his route.
- 54:00SPEAKER_01: But before that happened, an Albama defender had clearly run off the field.
- 54:04SPEAKER_01: And if they had hiked it, it would have been a free second chance at it.
- 54:07SPEAKER_01: I was so mad in that moment that it didn't happen.
- 54:11SPEAKER_01: Then the play happens, then they score, we win.
- 54:14SPEAKER_01: I am screaming my head off.
- 54:15SPEAKER_01: My children.
- 54:16SPEAKER_04: And you get an actual storming of the field.
- 54:18SPEAKER_04: Oh my god.
- 54:19SPEAKER_04: A few weeks ago when you did like a fake storming of the field.
- 54:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the roller coaster of emotions.
- 54:24SPEAKER_01: I screamed my head off.
- 54:25SPEAKER_01: I woke my children up, I woke my dog up.
- 54:27SPEAKER_01: I went outside.
- 54:27SPEAKER_01: I woke up some of my neighbors.
- 54:29SPEAKER_01: My wife is uh eight and a half months pregnant.
- 54:31SPEAKER_01: She said the baby started kicking.
- 54:32SPEAKER_01: I was it was a madhouse.
- 54:34SPEAKER_01: It was an absolute madhouse.
- 54:35SPEAKER_01: My phone was blowing up.
- 54:37SPEAKER_01: Uh, people who I got I got I got a text from my high school buddies in Colorado.
- 54:42SPEAKER_01: Um Anna's my wife's uh sorori's sister's husbands, my my wife's uncle, uncle texted me.
- 54:49SPEAKER_01: Hey, congratulations.
- 54:50SPEAKER_04: I think all this is just a product of you being so popular, though.
- 54:54SPEAKER_01: It was it was Was any of that game related?
- 54:57SPEAKER_01: No, it was only are you happy they won't?
- 54:59SPEAKER_01: It's like what's up, you up, you out, you up, you out, it was a lot of congratulatory remarks, but my phone was exploding.
- 55:05SPEAKER_01: It was a circus, my house.
- 55:06SPEAKER_01: It was a just such a grid moment.
- 55:08SPEAKER_01: One of the highlights, the highlight probably of the LSU comfortable to this year.
- 55:12SPEAKER_01: We'll see what happens.
- 55:12SPEAKER_01: Obviously, maybe we beat Georgia, maybe we played.
- 55:21SPEAKER_01: We gotta get going.
- 55:22SPEAKER_01: Okay, that's enough about last week's obviously.
- 55:24SPEAKER_01: Last week was awesome for me, not so much for Mike, but that's no, it's still awesome because you beating Bama opens up the door.
- 55:31SPEAKER_01: It does.
- 55:32SPEAKER_01: It's true, it's true.
- 55:33SPEAKER_01: Um, all right, cool.
- 55:34SPEAKER_01: Let's go ahead and start jumping.
- 55:35SPEAKER_01: Let's go.
- 55:35SPEAKER_01: We're just gonna plow through next week because it's already Friday.
- 55:37SPEAKER_01: You guys already know.
- 55:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we gotta plow it.
- 55:39SPEAKER_01: Let's do it.
- 55:40SPEAKER_01: Uh let's start with uh let's start with where we left off.
- 55:42SPEAKER_01: Bama Ole Miss.
- 55:43SPEAKER_01: Uh Bama Ole Miss, uh 330 CBS.
- 55:46SPEAKER_01: Uh the game is at Vaud Hemingway in Oxford.
- 55:49SPEAKER_01: Uh Alabama's minus 12 and a half.
- 55:51SPEAKER_01: I expect him to do a net crack game.
- 55:52SPEAKER_01: Ole Miss is fool's gold on defense.
- 55:54SPEAKER_01: Maybe it's close.
- 55:55SPEAKER_01: Um Alabama's Albama's gonna roll.
- 55:57SPEAKER_01: This is gonna be this is gonna be Nick Sabin reasserting himself.
- 56:00SPEAKER_01: I actually need this to happen too, because if it does, it means that LSU can clinch the West.
- 56:04SPEAKER_01: Uh Buddha, what are your thoughts?
- 56:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah, this is like the Luke Skywalker, dark, Darth Vader game.
- 56:10SPEAKER_04: Kiffin, Kiffin Saban.
- 56:13SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, I forgot about right, right, right.
- 56:14SPEAKER_04: Oh, like so much I don't know.
- 56:17SPEAKER_04: Um Nerdy reference aside.
- 56:21SPEAKER_04: Bama can't stop the run.
- 56:23SPEAKER_04: Olmus is one of the best running teams in the country.
- 56:27SPEAKER_04: It's at Olmus.
- 56:29SPEAKER_04: Um that big that Bama still bounces back.
- 56:32SPEAKER_04: Bama wins, but it does not cover.
- 56:35SPEAKER_01: Does not cover.
- 56:36SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna say the cover.
- 56:37SPEAKER_01: All right, good stuff.
- 56:37SPEAKER_01: Let's keep it rolling.
- 56:38SPEAKER_01: Uh, Oregon against Washington.
- 56:40SPEAKER_01: Uh UW is a plucky team and they like to score points.
- 56:43SPEAKER_01: I wouldn't be surprised if this game uh is close.
- 56:45SPEAKER_01: Oregon is, of course, the favorite.
- 56:47SPEAKER_01: Where is that?
- 56:47SPEAKER_01: Here we go.
- 56:48SPEAKER_01: Oregon number six, number 25.
- 56:50SPEAKER_01: The game is in Outson.
- 56:51SPEAKER_01: Altson's a hell of a place to play.
- 56:53SPEAKER_01: Oregon's minus 13.
- 56:54SPEAKER_01: Um, any reason to think uh I don't Michael Panics is I think he's gonna do gonna get his any reason to think UW can get enough stops on uh now.
- 57:05SPEAKER_04: The only thing that I would say is that you know, can Bo Nicks continue to play as consistently as he has?
- 57:12SPEAKER_04: I think I don't think this is the week that he trips up.
- 57:15SPEAKER_04: It's a home game for Oregon.
- 57:16SPEAKER_04: Everything's in front of him right now.
- 57:18SPEAKER_04: They're riding a lot of momentum.
- 57:20SPEAKER_04: Um, I'm not going against the home team in this big spot, even though I just did uh against Ole Miss.
- 57:25SPEAKER_04: Um, but yeah, I I like Oregon.
- 57:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I like Oregon too.
- 57:29SPEAKER_01: Um TCU uh versus Texas, we're gonna talk about both these at the same time.
- 57:32SPEAKER_01: TCU versus Texas, Texas is a uh six and a half point favorite.
- 57:36SPEAKER_01: Um, also awesome.
- 57:38SPEAKER_01: We'll do one at the scrap.
- 57:38SPEAKER_01: I'll take it back.
- 57:39SPEAKER_01: Bye bye bye.
- 57:40SPEAKER_01: Number four TCU at number 18, Texas, 730 ABC, Texas is a seven-point favorite.
- 57:45SPEAKER_01: Uh DKR, TCU, this is this is the moment where TCU has to prove that they're a playoff team.
- 57:50SPEAKER_01: Can they do it?
- 57:51SPEAKER_01: And for me, it's just a question of what version of Texas are you getting?
- 57:55SPEAKER_01: Because if we get the Texas that's ready to play and Quinny is playing well, they're gonna beat the brakes off of TCU.
- 58:02SPEAKER_01: If Texas looks bad like they're against Oklahoma State, I don't know.
- 58:08SPEAKER_04: I got Texas.
- 58:09SPEAKER_04: I'm not even gonna play around with it.
- 58:10SPEAKER_04: I like Texas in this game.
- 58:12SPEAKER_04: Um Bijan Robinson's gonna continue to run.
- 58:16SPEAKER_04: I mean, Texas TCU is gonna put up some points.
- 58:18SPEAKER_04: It'll it should be a fun game, should be an interesting game, should be a close game, but uh Texas at home, hook him horns.
- 58:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I I like Bijan Robinson a lot as well.
- 58:28SPEAKER_01: Uh TCU's uh defense has played well in spots, but they are certainly not elite unit, and Texas has just categorically better talent.
- 58:37SPEAKER_01: Uh I expect I think I think I think Quinn Ewers and B.
- 58:40SPEAKER_01: John Robinson are gonna have a day.
- 58:42SPEAKER_01: I do think Quentin Johnson, the wide receiver from TCU's is an absolute phenom and fun to watch, and he'll get his, but it's not gonna be enough.
- 58:48SPEAKER_01: I got Texas too.
- 58:49SPEAKER_01: On the other side, uh Baylor, K-State.
- 58:51SPEAKER_01: Baylor is very quietly, you know.
- 58:53SPEAKER_01: I've everybody who knows is listening.
- 58:55SPEAKER_01: I was super high on the Bears.
- 58:57SPEAKER_01: They I kind of left them for dead off that terrible uh West Virginia loss couple.
- 59:01SPEAKER_01: They've won three straight.
- 59:02SPEAKER_01: Kansas, uh, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, they're sh they have gotten off the mat for lack of a better term.
- 59:07SPEAKER_01: Uh they are two and a half point favorite against who we thought K-State, best team in the Big 12.
- 59:13SPEAKER_01: This Baylor K-State game in this TCU Texas, this is the final four of the Big 12.
- 59:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 59:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I agree with you.
- 59:20SPEAKER_04: I don't know, I'll be honest.
- 59:21SPEAKER_04: I don't I don't know how this game will go.
- 59:24SPEAKER_04: Um my gut kind of tells me K-State just because I like the quarterback play over what Baylor's been working with.
- 59:32SPEAKER_04: But um, we've kind of been sleeping on Baylor since the beginning of the season when we both were really high on them.
- 59:37SPEAKER_04: So, you know, I haven't watched them in the last few weeks.
- 59:40SPEAKER_04: Uh K-State has looked good.
- 59:43SPEAKER_04: Um, I mean, I guess I'll lean K-State Mark.
- 59:48SPEAKER_01: I I so I'll tell you what, I have actually, I mean, when they lost, I watched that L I watched that Bama Baylor game, which was uh at I mean sorry, I sorry, Baylor West Virginia game at West Virginia where they lost 43 of 40.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_01: And I was like, this team is done.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_01: I have faded them like every week and lost.
- 1:00:05SPEAKER_01: Um, Dave Aranda is continuing to show himself he's a good coach and he can turn it around.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_01: Kansas, Texas, Tech, and Oklahoma are three good Big 12 teams, and he's beat them all.
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_01: I've I'm only picking Baylor because I've picked against him three weeks in a row, and I've been wrong three weeks in a row.
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_01: So I'm gonna take Baylor and Dave Aranda to get the win.
- 1:00:24SPEAKER_01: Um, they get him at home.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I don't hate that.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_01: I mean But I don't know how that I don't have this game.
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah, any this game could go either way.
- 1:00:31SPEAKER_01: The whole Big 12 go everywhere.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_01: This is why the Big 12 is gonna be so entertained down the stretch.
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_01: D PCU, Texas, Baylor, K-State.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_01: Two of those four teams are gonna play for the Big 12, and it's gonna be awesome because we don't have any idea who's gonna win.
- 1:00:42SPEAKER_01: So there you are with that.
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_01: Uh Georgia at uh is it at Mississippi State, I think.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_01: Let me just double check that really quick.
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_01: Mississippi, there it is.
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's uh Georgia.
- 1:00:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Georgia number one, Georgia at Mississippi State, Davis Wade Stadium, 7 o'clock ESPN.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_01: Uh in my notes, I have Georgia is a 16-point favorite.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_01: Any look-ahead possibilities?
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_04: Um, let's see.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_04: In my notes, I have um Cowbell.
- 1:01:06SPEAKER_04: They're gonna go up against the Calbell.
- 1:01:07SPEAKER_04: There it goes to Calbell.
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah, no, Georgia wins this game.
- 1:01:11SPEAKER_04: There's no trip up here.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_04: There's no trip up.
- 1:01:13SPEAKER_01: Nope.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_01: That was that that was literally my only question for you.
- 1:01:15SPEAKER_01: Why even talk about this game?
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_01: The number one team in the country, they're going to blow past.
- 1:01:19SPEAKER_04: I mean, Mississippi State is a good solid team.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_04: They are a good solid team.
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_04: And it's a way, but I do not expect them to lose.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_01: And at night.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_01: And it's gonna be loud, it's gonna be it's gonna look good on television for the first quarter, and then Georgia's gonna do Georgia things to them.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_04: And I expect Yeah, I actually, you know, I'm kind of interested to tune in and just see how they look.
- 1:01:36SPEAKER_04: Sometimes after these big, you know, media hyped up, top-ranked matchups, there's a little bit of a letdown.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_04: Uh, and Mississippi State could potentially take advantage of that.
- 1:01:45SPEAKER_04: Uh, but we've seen Mississippi State play big games this year, and you know, I just think Mike Leach and his offense is ill-prequipped, ill equipped to face this, yeah, to face this monster coming to town.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_01: Uh, no, no, no argument there.
- 1:02:02SPEAKER_01: Uh UNC Wake, this is probably the fight for the second best team in the ACC.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_01: Uh, North Carolina um uh is going to Wake Forest truest field in Winston State, North Carolina.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_01: 730 ESPN two.
- 1:02:12SPEAKER_01: Wake is a four-point favorite.
- 1:02:14SPEAKER_01: This move, this line has moved in Wake's favor.
- 1:02:17SPEAKER_01: So obviously, despite Wake's recent struggles, and I think they've lost two straight, they are still giving them credit over UNC.
- 1:02:24SPEAKER_01: I'm taking UNC here um because I think one, I think something's wrong, something is wrong with Wake.
- 1:02:29SPEAKER_01: They can't run the ball, which the which we kind of knew coming up this season, and they can't play defense.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_01: And um stop disrespecting the tar heels, man.
- 1:02:37SPEAKER_01: Stop disrespecting the tar heels.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_04: I'm not disrespecting the tar heels.
- 1:02:41SPEAKER_04: I like the tar heels.
- 1:02:42SPEAKER_04: I think um they're about as good as any ACC team this year.
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_04: Uh I don't think I don't think that what is it, truest stadium?
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_04: Yes, um, I don't think that truest stadium is that as you know, I've talked about the home field advantage.
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_04: I don't think that truest stadium provides the biggest home field advantage, but you know, I think three, four points there is probably pretty accurate.
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_04: That being said, I still like what UNC is doing.
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_04: Um and yeah, I'm gonna ride with Drake May.
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'll be honest.
- 1:03:15SPEAKER_01: I'm looking at the over-under 77 points.
- 1:03:18SPEAKER_01: I think it's low.
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_01: I think it's gonna be bigger than that.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_01: Nobody can play defense in this game.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_01: So I mean, I'm easy.
- 1:03:23SPEAKER_01: I could very easily see a repeat of the Clemson game 4135.
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_01: I'm expecting this to go.
- 1:03:27SPEAKER_01: I don't know who's gonna win.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_01: I would probably take UNC because I I I just want them to win.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_01: I want the I want UNC to keep winning to make the ACC interesting in December.
- 1:03:36SPEAKER_01: Um, but I don't really know if it's gonna happen or not.
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_01: But I do I would definitely take the over in this game.
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_04: I think remember last year though, um, this was like a 58 to 55 point game.
- 1:03:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah, this is so yeah, I would love the over.
- 1:03:47SPEAKER_04: Like if you're gonna do anything, hand with the over.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_01: We're we're going over here.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_01: We're going over here.
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_01: All right, good stuff.
- 1:03:52SPEAKER_01: Let's keep it rolling.
- 1:03:53SPEAKER_01: Uh uh.
- 1:03:56SPEAKER_01: Oh, UCF.
- 1:03:57SPEAKER_01: UCF versus Tulane.
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_01: So this game is interesting because there's but they're both in the American, and these are the these are the they're both pretty darn good.
- 1:04:05SPEAKER_01: Uh Tulane's ranked.
- 1:04:06SPEAKER_01: They both are.
- 1:04:07SPEAKER_01: Number 22 UCF, uh number 17 Tulane uh at Yolman Stadium in New Orleans.
- 1:04:12SPEAKER_01: This is uh Tulane's home stadium.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_01: This is the game that's going to decide.
- 1:04:17SPEAKER_01: This is why it's interesting.
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_01: This is why you should watch.
- 1:04:19SPEAKER_01: This game is going to effectively, not totally, but effectively decide which group of five school is going to the New York Six Bowl.
- 1:04:27SPEAKER_01: Because as we all know, they're all given one automatic bid a year.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_01: These are the two best teams.
- 1:04:31SPEAKER_01: We're going to figure it out on Saturday.
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_01: Anything you want to add about that?
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_01: Anything about add to that?
- 1:04:38SPEAKER_04: I mean, not particularly.
- 1:04:40SPEAKER_04: Um, I I'll be honest, I haven't kept a close eye on these teams.
- 1:04:43SPEAKER_04: Um, they've just, you know, Tulane's been kind of hanging around.
- 1:04:47SPEAKER_04: They've they've played pretty well.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:04:49SPEAKER_04: Um, you know, I I have seen a little bit of Tulane and they've looked solid.
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_04: So if I had to pick, I would say, you know, give me Tulane.
- 1:04:58SPEAKER_04: Um, but this is going into it blind based off of just some statistics and and kind of just the eyeball tip.
- 1:05:05SPEAKER_01: Vegas, Vegas agrees with you.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_01: They're one and a half point favorite.
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_01: So the one thing that I will say for UCF, which is kind of interesting, they're coached by Gus Malzan, the guy who ran Auburn for a long time, and they still run that fun hurry up offense, which on TV is really fun to watch.
- 1:05:17SPEAKER_01: And their quarterback is John Reese Plumley, the guy, the former backup at Ole Miss.
- 1:05:21SPEAKER_01: So if you're looking for some SEC ties, guys who moved on to group of five, they're doing it pretty well at uh UCF.
- 1:05:27SPEAKER_01: UCF is a really entertaining team.
- 1:05:29SPEAKER_01: And their offense is offense as awesome to watch.
- 1:05:33SPEAKER_01: Fun to watch.
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_01: And Tulane is just objectively good.
- 1:05:36SPEAKER_01: So this is gonna be this is a good reason to this is the best college football game that doesn't involve two power five schools, probably all season.
- 1:05:44SPEAKER_01: So that's your reason to watch it.
- 1:05:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah, Tulane plays a solid defense.
- 1:05:48SPEAKER_04: Um and Central Florida has a pretty high-powered offense.
- 1:05:52SPEAKER_04: So I mean that there's your matchup right there.
- 1:05:54SPEAKER_01: Sure enough.
- 1:05:55SPEAKER_01: Uh Virginia Tech at Duke.
- 1:05:58SPEAKER_01: Whoa, woof.
- 1:05:59SPEAKER_01: Uh, I'm I'm not I'm not feeling super hot on either of these teams.
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_01: Um, where what is this game?
- 1:06:05SPEAKER_04: Is uh Duke's been plucky this year, though.
- 1:06:08SPEAKER_01: Duke has Duke has definitely been I mean they're second in the coastal, they've won some games.
- 1:06:13SPEAKER_04: They put up, I mean, they're putting up points.
- 1:06:15SPEAKER_04: They've looked pretty pretty strong.
- 1:06:17SPEAKER_01: Well, I mean, I'm I'd really more say woof for my for my hookies.
- 1:06:21SPEAKER_01: Uh this game is at twelve o'clock on ESPN three, Wallace Wade and Durham.
- 1:06:25SPEAKER_01: Uh Duke is a nine and a half point favorite.
- 1:06:28SPEAKER_01: Um, Duke is scoring points, and they're they're they're they've got their they're well coached on offense.
- 1:06:33SPEAKER_01: I don't s I may is this a game where Virginia Tech gets over the hump?
- 1:06:38SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 1:06:39SPEAKER_04: No, nine and a half is too low for me.
- 1:06:41SPEAKER_04: Um, I'm taking Duke to cover pretty easily.
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_04: I mean, I hate to say it.
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_04: Um, you know, Virginia Tech's part of her homework time, but Duke is scoring points, and Virginia Tech has no answer on offense.
- 1:06:54SPEAKER_01: Yep, I'm agree with that assessment.
- 1:06:55SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna leave it at that.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_01: Pittsburgh uh going to Charlottesville, Scott Stadium.
- 1:06:59SPEAKER_01: I was just there.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_01: Uh 12 o'clock on the ACC network.
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_01: Uh, Pitt is a four and a half point favorite.
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_01: Israel Ibanaconda is an awesome running back.
- 1:07:09SPEAKER_01: And he's going to and he's going to go wild on um UVA.
- 1:07:13SPEAKER_01: I think.
- 1:07:14SPEAKER_01: I think that's I think that's gonna be the story of this game.
- 1:07:16SPEAKER_01: Um, that's what Pitt wants to do.
- 1:07:18SPEAKER_01: Pitt wants to run the ball.
- 1:07:19SPEAKER_01: Keenan Slovis is not who they thought he was at offense anyway, but it didn't have to be because they're so good.
- 1:07:24SPEAKER_01: Pratt Arduzi wants to play defense and run the ball.
- 1:07:26SPEAKER_01: And against this Charlottesville team, that's probably good enough.
- 1:07:29SPEAKER_04: Well, and when you talk about complementary football, UVA is gonna have a really hard time um scoring and moving the ball, particularly against Pitt's front seven.
- 1:07:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they they do a lot of really interesting things, exotic blitzes, especially on third down.
- 1:07:45SPEAKER_04: And um, you know, in years past, last year, you know, I'd say maybe UVA can can do some things, but um that pit defense I expect to be pretty stifling against uh the Wahoos.
- 1:07:58SPEAKER_04: And uh yeah, I think the ground game on the flip side of that uh for Pitt is gonna be pretty overwhelming.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_04: So I don't, you know, this game might be kind of boring to watch, uh, but I think it'll be a pit kind of bruising uh you know, slog of a beatdown.
- 1:08:15SPEAKER_01: This is gonna be a tough game.
- 1:08:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, over under 40 points.
- 1:08:18SPEAKER_01: They're calling for what you're talking about, they're calling for a a uh a pit grinded out 26 to 14 type game anyway.
- 1:08:26SPEAKER_01: Um, this is what you know, UVA's offensive line has been woeful and they've looked overwhelmed at times.
- 1:08:32SPEAKER_01: They're gonna have their hands full, and Brendan Armstrong is gonna have to get creepy.
- 1:08:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he's gonna be running for his life.
- 1:08:37SPEAKER_01: He's gonna be running for his life, and honestly, like Tony Elliott knows that today.
- 1:08:41SPEAKER_01: He knows that on Thursday, or probably on Monday.
- 1:08:44SPEAKER_01: So come up with a game plan to do something about that, knowing your offensive line is gonna be in deep trouble.
- 1:08:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but I mean, you can't change your stripes, you know.
- 1:08:52SPEAKER_04: I mean, you are who you are at this point.
- 1:08:54SPEAKER_04: I mean, you you might be able to dial in a few different things, but I mean, maybe some rollouts, you know, maybe some blitzes or some draws against the blitz.
- 1:09:03SPEAKER_04: I mean, Brennan, they've used Brennan Armstrong's legs, uh, so I expect them to maybe run some more designed quarterback runs.
- 1:09:10SPEAKER_04: Um, they've done that a lot in situations where they probably didn't even need to.
- 1:09:15SPEAKER_04: This is a time of where they'll need to.
- 1:09:17SPEAKER_01: I think I think UVA's defense is gonna be up to the task to slow them down enough.
- 1:09:22SPEAKER_01: And by enough, I mean hold them to 25 points, 24 points, something in that realm.
- 1:09:27SPEAKER_01: The question is, can UVA get to 27?
- 1:09:29SPEAKER_01: If they're gonna do that, they need three or four plays that are probably not what Tony Elliott wants his offense to long term look like.
- 1:09:37SPEAKER_01: They're gonna have to be some sort of creative injection.
- 1:09:40SPEAKER_01: I'm thinking a flea flicker, a double reverse pass, um, fake points.
- 1:09:45SPEAKER_04: Something.
- 1:09:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I mean, the hope is when you have sort of that style of play that you're up against, you know, it's it's not a lot of splash plays, it's kind of grinded out, it's it's play tough defense, it's it's make a play on defense and make hand the ball off on offense.
- 1:09:59SPEAKER_04: If you can get a turnover or two, or you know, you can get one or two things that go your way, the margin is so much smaller that yeah, you can compete, you can flip the game, you can you can find yourself in it in the fourth quarter.
- 1:10:11SPEAKER_04: And I think that's what you got to hope for uh for UVA.
- 1:10:14SPEAKER_01: I think UVA's defense is gonna show up for this game.
- 1:10:16SPEAKER_01: I really do.
- 1:10:16SPEAKER_01: I think they've I think they've shown up for several weeks now, and they've they they have played better than their expectations have been all season.
- 1:10:23SPEAKER_01: Are they a great unit?
- 1:10:24SPEAKER_01: No.
- 1:10:25SPEAKER_01: But are they better than what they were supposed to be?
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 1:10:28SPEAKER_01: And we know that now for sure in nine games of the season.
- 1:10:31SPEAKER_01: So I think they're gonna do its part.
- 1:10:32SPEAKER_01: I'm you know, my eyes are totally fixated and where they've always been on Tony Elliott, Brendan Armstrong, and what are they gonna do?
- 1:10:39SPEAKER_01: Like, find offensive coach with an offensive quarterback who's capable of doing good things and he has receivers.
- 1:10:45SPEAKER_01: Like, let's just get them the darn ball.
- 1:10:47SPEAKER_01: So, anyway, that's my take on that.
- 1:10:49SPEAKER_01: Um, give me the Wahoos because I love them and I want them to win.
- 1:10:51SPEAKER_01: I don't know what else, why not?
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_01: No, they're they're they're four and a half point dogs.
- 1:10:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, give me those points.
- 1:10:55SPEAKER_01: UVA.
- 1:10:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'll take it.
- 1:10:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I know you will.
- 1:11:00SPEAKER_01: Um, also that Pitmo Pit makes your Tennessee resume look that much better, which is uh, I mean, at this point, not really, but okay.
- 1:11:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, not really okay.
- 1:11:09SPEAKER_01: Um, let's talk about our two teams and we'll talk about the playoffs.
- 1:11:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we'll talk about the playoff last.
- 1:11:13SPEAKER_01: Um Missouri uh is going to oh that game's in Nayland.
- 1:11:17SPEAKER_01: Uh number five, Tennessee, eight and one coming off uh last week.
- 1:11:21SPEAKER_01: Uh Tennessee's a 20 and a half point favorite.
- 1:11:24SPEAKER_01: Um game's at noon.
- 1:11:26SPEAKER_01: Uh you go ahead.
- 1:11:28SPEAKER_04: Give me the points and Tennessee to cover.
- 1:11:32SPEAKER_04: This is a we are not what we were last week game.
- 1:11:36SPEAKER_04: Missouri has a pretty, I mean, their defense their defense is pretty good, but they are walking into a straight buzzsaw.
- 1:11:44SPEAKER_04: It's the last home game in Neeland.
- 1:11:47SPEAKER_04: Granted, it is a noon game, but it's senior night or senior day, and this group wants to go out on in the right way.
- 1:11:57SPEAKER_04: And and they they have a lot to correct from last week against Georgia, and they know that they need style points.
- 1:12:04SPEAKER_04: I expect them to put up gobs and gobs of points.
- 1:12:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:12:10SPEAKER_04: I mean, there's this team is approaching it the right way, they've said all the right things.
- 1:12:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah, this is they're gonna roll.
- 1:12:16SPEAKER_01: This is a I I like everything you said, but from a gamble gambler standpoint.
- 1:12:19SPEAKER_01: There now, now that you know, there is still a mathematical chance that Tennessee could find a ways to Atlanta, but the odds are pretty much pretty starkly against them.
- 1:12:27SPEAKER_01: Tennessee has to look good, look big, and they will.
- 1:12:30SPEAKER_01: Their last three opponents, South Carolina, Vandy, and Missouri.
- 1:12:33SPEAKER_01: Is that right?
- 1:12:34SPEAKER_01: Um, I think all three of these weeks are gonna be monster offensive outputs for them.
- 1:12:38SPEAKER_01: I think Tennessee wants to re-establish themselves as an offensive force that they are.
- 1:12:42SPEAKER_01: They're gonna want to clean up those mistakes quickly and effectively, and I think they will.
- 1:12:46SPEAKER_01: Uh, I think they're also they're a little banged up, too.
- 1:12:48SPEAKER_01: Aren't they?
- 1:12:49SPEAKER_01: I think they're I think this can give a chance to get some guys back, maybe.
- 1:12:52SPEAKER_04: Um, we've had some injuries.
- 1:12:54SPEAKER_04: We were actually pretty healthy against Georgia, although um we had a lot of weird injuries that took us out of rhythm and and stopped play and stuff.
- 1:13:04SPEAKER_04: Like Hyatt got his foot stepped on by a ref.
- 1:13:08SPEAKER_04: Tillman went out for a minute, Javari Small went out with a shoulder and he didn't return.
- 1:13:13SPEAKER_04: He'll probably be back.
- 1:13:14SPEAKER_04: Um, that was a big loss last week.
- 1:13:16SPEAKER_04: But yeah, um, we're pretty healthy overall.
- 1:13:19SPEAKER_01: Well, my yeah, I just I think I think this game is gonna be a love getting those guys back in, back in the rhythm, reinserted.
- 1:13:24SPEAKER_01: And no, I'm I think from a gambling standpoint and from a fact of Tennessee needs a style point standpoint, last game at Nayland, uh, they're gonna want to get back to bread and butter.
- 1:13:33SPEAKER_01: And I think Missouri is just gonna be in the way.
- 1:13:35SPEAKER_01: Um, and I just think if this game was in Missouri, uh in were they were they play Columbia?
- 1:13:40SPEAKER_01: I don't even know where is Missouri.
- 1:13:41SPEAKER_01: If they are Columbus, right?
- 1:13:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:13:44SPEAKER_01: If it was in Missouri, maybe, you know, maybe tennis, maybe since the noon game, Tennessee comes sleepwalking.
- 1:13:49SPEAKER_04: But this is where, yeah, this is where the schedule is a little bit favorable because yeah, if if the weeks were flipped, next week we have um South Carolina away at night.
- 1:13:58SPEAKER_04: Um, that might be a little bit of a tough spot.
- 1:14:01SPEAKER_04: Could be.
- 1:14:02SPEAKER_04: But this is a nice, you know, get get back, get your bearings um and rebound, and we will.
- 1:14:09SPEAKER_01: Yep, I agree.
- 1:14:10SPEAKER_01: Uh, number seven, LSU at Arkansas.
- 1:14:13SPEAKER_01: This game is weird.
- 1:14:14SPEAKER_01: This game is at Arkansas, Racerback Stadium in Fayetteville.
- 1:14:18SPEAKER_01: This game is at noon.
- 1:14:19SPEAKER_01: Uh LSU Football Tigers do not like playing at noon, but they're playing at noon.
- 1:14:22SPEAKER_01: It's going to be cold.
- 1:14:24SPEAKER_01: Um, Arkansas, this is a weird thing about this Arkansas team.
- 1:14:28SPEAKER_01: So Arkansas, the spread, and there was why it's so weird.
- 1:14:30SPEAKER_01: The spread is only three and a half points.
- 1:14:33SPEAKER_01: LSU is a much better than three and a half points team than Arkansas, especially right now.
- 1:14:39SPEAKER_01: But, however, the historic the history of this rivalry, we play for this big statue, which weighs like 180 pounds, this giant boot, the golden boot.
- 1:14:47SPEAKER_01: It's the state of Louisiana and the state of Arkansas like glued together and makes a big boot shape.
- 1:14:53SPEAKER_01: Um Arkansas has been a thorn in LSU's side more often than not.
- 1:14:59SPEAKER_01: The difference this time, this is my take, is more often than not, this game comes immediately after a gut-wrenching loss against Alabama.
- 1:15:07SPEAKER_01: And Alabama, I could tell you so many times, has there's been so many seasons the last 20 years where LSU has been in the driver's seat, control of their destiny, seven and one, are eight and oh, and they they they go to Tuscaloosa or vice versa, and we lose, and it all is lost at that point.
- 1:15:24SPEAKER_01: And this and this team is this team has quit.
- 1:15:27SPEAKER_01: I think Vegas is egregiously overvaluing that.
- 1:15:30SPEAKER_01: I don't think they recognize that this team is still sky high.
- 1:15:35SPEAKER_01: Obviously, we beat Alabama at home and we're gonna have a chance to go to Atlanta.
- 1:15:38SPEAKER_01: And assuming we win this game and uh Alabama beats Ole Miss, which I really think they will, we're gonna clinch the West this week.
- 1:15:46SPEAKER_01: So the spread reeks of LSU games, LSU teams playing Arkansas in the past that have not been focused.
- 1:15:55SPEAKER_01: This isn't that team.
- 1:15:57SPEAKER_01: I know I'm biased, I know I'm obviously not seeing this as clear as I should be.
- 1:16:00SPEAKER_01: LSU is gonna win by 10 points or more easily.
- 1:16:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I like LSU to win pretty easily as well.
- 1:16:07SPEAKER_04: Um to me, I I think that there's a little bit of that letdown, regardless win or loss after a big game like that.
- 1:16:14SPEAKER_04: That's a trap situation.
- 1:16:16SPEAKER_05: Sure.
- 1:16:16SPEAKER_04: Um, and I don't think they're really taken into you know previous years.
- 1:16:20SPEAKER_04: There's lots of times when Bama beats teams twice or a team like Georgia beats twice.
- 1:16:24SPEAKER_04: Um, we've seen that a lot.
- 1:16:26SPEAKER_04: Um, so but I think this is different.
- 1:16:29SPEAKER_04: I think Arkansas um doesn't have the offense to keep up with LSU.
- 1:16:34SPEAKER_04: If with without KJ Jefferson, they have no offense.
- 1:16:38SPEAKER_04: So this is an easy one for me.
- 1:16:39SPEAKER_04: If he's banged up, if he's even you know 75, um, this is an LSU game to uh to kind of roll and uh and and continue to to feel good and and have that confidence.
- 1:16:52SPEAKER_04: Uh it is it is on the road, which which you know may be tough.
- 1:16:56SPEAKER_04: Um, but Arkansas's had a tough year, you know.
- 1:16:59SPEAKER_04: That they the fans are gonna be loud early and try to play spoiler, but if LSU can get any kind of uh lead or advantage, that's gonna fade pretty quickly.
- 1:17:10SPEAKER_01: Other things, I mean, other things to say about Arkansas.
- 1:17:13SPEAKER_01: They just they're coming off an embarrassing loss to Liberty, uh which is I don't care who you are, the SEC, you're not you're not supposed to lose unless you're van ability.
- 1:17:20SPEAKER_01: You don't lose to Liberty, you just don't.
- 1:17:22SPEAKER_01: Um, they are one of the best teams at getting after the getting after the passer.
- 1:17:26SPEAKER_01: Their sack numbers are outrageous.
- 1:17:27SPEAKER_01: They've the problem, I mean they're they're getting a ton of sacks.
- 1:17:29SPEAKER_01: I think they're like, I think they're leading the SEC like third or fourth in the country.
- 1:17:32SPEAKER_01: The problem is they get a sack at second to 14 and they give a 30-yard pass.
- 1:17:36SPEAKER_01: Like their defense has these inconsistent flashes where it hasn't been very good.
- 1:17:40SPEAKER_01: So it hasn't, despite as good as they are at sacking the quarterback, that has not developed into really moving the statistical needle for the defense given how bad they are everywhere else.
- 1:17:50SPEAKER_01: I'm not saying that's gonna be relevant here, but something to keep an eye on.
- 1:17:53SPEAKER_01: It's definitely gonna test our true to our two true freshman offensive tackles a lot.
- 1:17:58SPEAKER_01: They're gonna be, they're gonna get a those guys are gonna get after them.
- 1:18:01SPEAKER_01: They're gonna have to be ready for that.
- 1:18:02SPEAKER_01: And maybe, you know, a sack strip fumble can flip a game.
- 1:18:05SPEAKER_01: I mean, you know that as well as I do, but I don't I feel good about where we are going into Saturday.
- 1:18:11SPEAKER_03: Agree.
- 1:18:12SPEAKER_01: Uh cool.
- 1:18:13SPEAKER_01: Um, we talked about UVA G.
- 1:18:15SPEAKER_01: We talked about every game.
- 1:18:15SPEAKER_01: So we'll we're gonna wrap this up with a five-minute conversation about the playoff because you and I could spend two more hours talking about it.
- 1:18:22SPEAKER_01: Um, comfortable playoff ranking came out on Tuesday, Georgia 1, Ohio State 2, Michigan 3, TCU four, Tennessee 5, Oregon 6, LSU 7, uh, USC eight.
- 1:18:31SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna stop there because I don't think anybody else really realistically has much of a shot.
- 1:18:36SPEAKER_01: Um, give me your initial thoughts.
- 1:18:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I touched on the first piece, which was TCU is a head scratcher at four at this point.
- 1:18:45SPEAKER_04: Um, and it's not because of where they are at this point, it's because of where the committee ranked them and the and the other teams around them in their first release.
- 1:18:56SPEAKER_04: Uh, because yeah, TCU could easily be ranked fourth.
- 1:19:00SPEAKER_04: Um, but based on the way they lined things up last week, it seems to be like they're kind of just shuffling things around, want some drama.
- 1:19:09SPEAKER_04: There's still a lot to play out, obviously, and they're just hoping that things kind of take care of themselves.
- 1:19:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's what it seems like as well.
- 1:19:16SPEAKER_01: I mean, I think I think TCU is gonna be the Clemson of last week, this week, frankly.
- 1:19:20SPEAKER_01: Um, and I obviously they're nine and oh in the Big 12.
- 1:19:23SPEAKER_01: They for what for how they won and how they lost, and the fact they've played backups the whole time, they're probably deserving of where to be there.
- 1:19:30SPEAKER_01: I mean, like you could, I mean, I I hear you could argue about four or five.
- 1:19:33SPEAKER_01: It doesn't really matter, you know, because they're either gonna go 12 and 0 and get there or 10 and 2 and not be.
- 1:19:38SPEAKER_01: So we'll find out.
- 1:19:39SPEAKER_01: Um I I think I think I think you're I think you're right.
- 1:19:42SPEAKER_01: I think they're definitely done with the drama.
- 1:19:44SPEAKER_01: I think they will find out soon.
- 1:19:47SPEAKER_01: Um give me your who do you want to hear who's gonna what's the what's the final of the season gonna be?
- 1:19:53SPEAKER_01: Who are what the four teams go into the playoffs this year?
- 1:19:56SPEAKER_04: I've Georgia Ohio State.
- 1:20:00SPEAKER_04: Uh-huh.
- 1:20:00SPEAKER_04: Tennessee.
- 1:20:04SPEAKER_03: Pac-12 champ.
- 1:20:06SPEAKER_01: Pac-12 champ.
- 1:20:07SPEAKER_01: Pac-12 champ.
- 1:20:08SPEAKER_01: Mine looks mine looks very similar.
- 1:20:09SPEAKER_01: Georgia, Michigan.
- 1:20:10SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm taking I'm now taking Michigan to beat Ohio State and the go with Big Ten.
- 1:20:15SPEAKER_01: Tennessee three, because I think unfortunately, I think my LSU Tigers are gonna lose to Atlanta, which is I don't see the which is honestly the best thing probably for the Vols.
- 1:20:24SPEAKER_01: Because if LSU, even though we're two losses, if LSU did somehow beat Georgia and Atlanta, that does throw a serious monkey wrench.
- 1:20:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that'd be a weird scenario.
- 1:20:32SPEAKER_01: It'd be a weird scenario, could it could be problematic for Tennessee.
- 1:20:34SPEAKER_01: I um, and then on the number four, I have USC.
- 1:20:37SPEAKER_01: I think I think USC might find a way to take down Oregon.
- 1:20:40SPEAKER_01: Um, I think I I I'm seeing I've heard a lot of like gloom and doom around Tennessee's playoff chances, but I'm gonna look at the rest of the schedule.
- 1:20:48SPEAKER_01: I'm look at the way that Big 12 and Patrick are gonna eat it themselves.
- 1:20:51SPEAKER_01: One of the Big Ten teams is gonna lose, they don't have a path in.
- 1:20:54SPEAKER_01: Georgia is probably the chalk team, they're gonna go their way out.
- 1:20:58SPEAKER_01: Tennessee's gonna slide right in.
- 1:20:59SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 1:21:00SPEAKER_04: I don't think at this point it's all it's all about creating conversations around the the selection committee, right?
- 1:21:09SPEAKER_04: Like it's all about talking about what-if scenarios.
- 1:21:12SPEAKER_04: Uh, there's not a lot of fun what-if scenarios for the Tennessee conversation because we've got probably the easiest finish to the schedule.
- 1:21:22SPEAKER_04: We've also got probably the best resume up into up until now, especially for a one-loss team.
- 1:21:28SPEAKER_04: So um it's right for people to talk about all the dominoes that can fall around us.
- 1:21:35SPEAKER_04: One of the most interesting things is that I've seen is oh, what if the Michigan-Ohio State game is close, both teams get in, which I think is just dumb.
- 1:21:46SPEAKER_04: It's mind-blowing.
- 1:21:47SPEAKER_04: Like or what, or if or if Mich or if Ohio State loses.
- 1:21:52SPEAKER_04: What's the losing?
- 1:21:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, what's the losing?
- 1:21:54SPEAKER_01: Like how you could go on either team's schedule and say, okay, fine, they lost the game that one game they had to win.
- 1:21:59SPEAKER_01: What's their best win?
- 1:22:00SPEAKER_01: And for Michigan, it's probably Penn State, which is not that good.
- 1:22:04SPEAKER_01: Uh, for Ohio State, it's maybe Notre Dame or Penn State, I guess.
- 1:22:10SPEAKER_01: Neither of them have the resumes.
- 1:22:11SPEAKER_01: What's interesting to me, I think, is um what happens if TCU, what happens if the Big 12 and Pac-12 don't eat themselves?
- 1:22:20SPEAKER_01: So let's say we get Georgia, they take care of LSU.
- 1:22:23SPEAKER_01: Let's say Ohio State wins Big 12.
- 1:22:25SPEAKER_01: TCU does get 13-0, and Oregon is 12 and 1.
- 1:22:29SPEAKER_01: Is Tennessee number five?
- 1:22:30SPEAKER_01: Are they anything outside looking in that situation?
- 1:22:31SPEAKER_01: Do you does Tennessee need one of the one of those two teams to go away?
- 1:22:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:22:36SPEAKER_04: Because and they've that's what they're setting up right now.
- 1:22:39SPEAKER_04: That's the that's why we're having these conversations.
- 1:22:42SPEAKER_04: Um, and I think to be fair, um, because there are big meaningful football games left on the schedule, yeah.
- 1:22:50SPEAKER_04: Um if you win your conference championship and you play, you know, two or three more ranked teams, your resume looks very different than it does right now.
- 1:23:00SPEAKER_04: If you're Oregon and TCU, totally.
- 1:23:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:23:02SPEAKER_01: I was I was just gonna say that.
- 1:23:04SPEAKER_01: If either these teams, Oregon or TCU, survive the next month of football undefeated, I think they're in.
- 1:23:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I wouldn't argue with that.
- 1:23:13SPEAKER_04: I think putting them above Tennessee right now, based on the schedule, is a little foolish.
- 1:23:18SPEAKER_04: But I think, yeah, if TCU runs the table and goes undefeated and wins the conference, they deserve to be in.
- 1:23:24SPEAKER_04: Fame for Oregon.
- 1:23:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I think.
- 1:23:28SPEAKER_01: I do think there is a world where number 15 North Carolina has a sh has a path in.
- 1:23:34SPEAKER_01: I really think UNC, I'm telling if they go, if they win every single game, including beating Clemson, which will be the top eight team at that point, um, Big 12 and Pac-12 take care of themselves.
- 1:23:46SPEAKER_01: There's a world where it's Georgia, Ohio State, Tennessee, UNC.
- 1:23:51SPEAKER_01: I'm just don't I'm I'm gonna go.
- 1:23:53SPEAKER_01: They would need a lot of they would need a lot of help.
- 1:23:55SPEAKER_01: They all they would need is all they would need is ever is is the is uh Georgia take care of business, Michigan, Ohio State do what they're supposed to do, and then the Big 12 and Pac-12 to take to take care to eat themselves.
- 1:24:07SPEAKER_01: Right, that's what I'm saying.
- 1:24:08SPEAKER_04: But several games would have to happen for that to happen.
- 1:24:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah, because several losses.
- 1:24:13SPEAKER_01: All of those teams, all every team ahead of them would in that sit in that scenario, every single one of those teams would lose, would have two losses ahead of them.
- 1:24:21SPEAKER_01: So yeah, saying the Atari, I'm I'm I'm saying on the podcast now, if if a month from now we're talking about UNC in the playoff, I can say, I could say back in November 10th, I said it.
- 1:24:31SPEAKER_04: Or we if a one-loss UNC team with a conference championship win over Clemson gets in over my vols, I'm going to throw up on my front lawn.
- 1:24:46SPEAKER_04: That's reasonable.
- 1:24:48SPEAKER_04: There's no way that should happen.
- 1:24:50SPEAKER_04: I don't care if they're the conference championship.
- 1:24:52SPEAKER_04: They their only good win will be against Clemson.
- 1:24:56SPEAKER_01: It's true.
- 1:24:57SPEAKER_01: It's true.
- 1:24:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I they don't have but they're but 12 and 1.
- 1:25:01SPEAKER_01: 12 is a lot of 12 winning 12 football, 12 power five football games is tough, but yeah, it would be nice if one of those well they had NC State.
- 1:25:09SPEAKER_01: NC they'd they'd have a rank win again.
- 1:25:10SPEAKER_01: NC State, and Wake Forest might finish the season ranked, but yeah, you're right.
- 1:25:14SPEAKER_01: They that that that's that's literally it.
- 1:25:16SPEAKER_01: Um, and they lost Notre Dame, which is that's like beating a bunch of South Carolinas and Kentuckies.
- 1:25:22SPEAKER_04: Don't they're good teams pretty much.
- 1:25:24SPEAKER_04: They're good teams.
- 1:25:25SPEAKER_04: They are good teams.
- 1:25:27SPEAKER_04: You know, not good enough.
- 1:25:29SPEAKER_01: They're not your Bamas and LSU's and the abbeys of the world.
- 1:25:33SPEAKER_01: Anywho, well, good news is we have four more weeks of college football to figure it out.

- 1:26:43SPEAKER_01: Let's could we get a four-in-o week this week?
- 1:26:45SPEAKER_01: Can we get the UVA tech uh quadfecta?
- 1:26:48SPEAKER_01: I'm uh I'm looking, I'm waiting for quadfecta this week.
- 1:26:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, quad box.
- 1:26:52SPEAKER_01: We haven't had one.
- 1:26:52SPEAKER_01: I think we've ever had one this year.
- 1:26:55SPEAKER_01: We were supposed to have it week one, but LSU blew it to Florida State.
- 1:26:58SPEAKER_01: So literally every single week it's been something.
- 1:27:01SPEAKER_01: So it's tough to win.
- 1:27:03SPEAKER_01: It's tough to win conflict.
- 1:27:04SPEAKER_01: We only have so many chances left.
- 1:27:05SPEAKER_01: So this is a good chance.
- 1:27:06SPEAKER_01: We're looking for the quadfecta, UVA Tech Tennessee, LSU.
- 1:27:09SPEAKER_01: Um, good stuff.
