Transcript
- 0:00The following program is produced by the Tech Talk Radio Network. Everybody out there
- 0:03in radio land. This is James Young from the rock band Stick. If
- 0:06you are technically challenged, if you got trouble with that computer yours, because
- 0:10Lord knows I do you need it? In the tech Talk Radio Welcome to
- 0:18another episode of tech Talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Sean de Weird,
- 0:22and we are the show that talks about computers, technology, and of
- 0:25course the intern net. It's good to see Sean, especially in his BUCkies
- 0:30outfit today. Man, you are representing My mom is officially obsessed. Yeah.
- 0:38She just texted me today saying, Hey, I'm at another BUCkies.
- 0:42What do you want? Oh you're kidding me? Oh wow. She actually
- 0:46asked if I wanted another one so Caitlin and I could have matching onesies.
- 0:49And I said no, why not that'd be cool because no, So I
- 0:56told her to give me a T shirt instead. So I'm sure she's gotten
- 0:58Max, Max and Daniel have full BUCkies outfits. I've got a full Buggies
- 1:04outfit. We're buck eased. We're paying somebody's salary over there now. When
- 1:10Caitlin comes into the room and sees you like that, does she roll her
- 1:14eyes or does she kind of give you the wink She's accepted me for who
- 1:18I am. Yeah, that's perfect, that's perfect. I was I wasn't
- 1:22sure the show was going to go off as planned today because there's a couple
- 1:26of things that have changed. For those that are wondering, Justin is still
- 1:30out, still waiting on his his remodel of his basement with that what they're
- 1:36doing on is that what happened? Yeah, he had the he had the
- 1:38he had the hot water heater failure which flooded his basement, and it's taking
- 1:46longer for them to finish the work than what he was expecting. So I'm
- 1:48sure we'll get a salty review once. Oh yeah, of course. Uh.
- 1:53And then Matt is out. He's traveling, and I'm good with traveling
- 1:57for a while. I traveled two weeks. I've traveled two different places in
- 2:00two weeks, and I'm good for a while. Well, it kind of
- 2:02surprised me. You actually went to Canada, right, Canada? Yeah,
- 2:09so I traveled. We have a vendor. The vendor is named is Evertz.
- 2:14They're probably one of the leading broadcast vendors in the world and we had
- 2:21we they invited us up to their HQ to do a tour and some future
- 2:25planning with them because they are they are the vendor that is the brains of
- 2:30our operation. So we're looking at what the next five years is because our
- 2:37facility was SpecEd and built in twenty fifteen. Twenty sixteen. Wow, right,
- 2:43so we're are like when we were built where we were running. We
- 2:47were at the bleeding edge right where we were one of the first universities to
- 2:52do a full ip poor router with their EXCU one point zero. And that's
- 2:58been great, it's been great. It's been great, right, But that's
- 3:00also seven years of advancement have gone on since then. When I first started
- 3:07in television in uh what was it was close circuit TV. In the high
- 3:12school that I went to, we had a TV studio back in nineteen seventy
- 3:15nine. I mean that was pretty advanced. We had the big, huge
- 3:19cameras, you know, with the pedestals and you know, zoom zoom in,
- 3:23zoom out on the actual handles itself. But you look at how far
- 3:28television's come. But then it came from an analog you're basically three quarter inch
- 3:32videotape. You know, you had one inch videotape as well. To now
- 3:37where it is? Is the recording all done digital? Or do you do
- 3:40one inch tape just for kind of like a backup. There's no tape anymore
- 3:46anymore nothing I so if you look back, So let's just take my career
- 3:51in news and in broadcasts, my career started. I graduated from college in
- 3:57twos and eight. So my first job right out of college was working for
- 4:00a multimedia company that did the Arcovery Max stock car series or they shot videos
- 4:05and did web like web stuff for them. We shot on Mini DV.
- 4:10Oh wow, so that was you know, Mini DV was fifty megabit digital
- 4:15tape. Fifty megabits for seconds. Great, it's perfect for We need lots
- 4:20of prosumer MiniDV tapes, lots of consumer DV tapes, lots of professional MiniDV
- 4:26tapes. When I moved into news in twenty ten, we were no more
- 4:32tape tape them done. It was all Sony XDCAM. Right. Sony was
- 4:40the big leader in the m so it was MPEG two code MPEG two compression,
- 4:44which was xd cams. You had XDCAM fifty megabit xdkm thirty five megabit
- 4:47so XDCAM HX, and xdkm e X. Then moving in from there,
- 4:54it just got better and better and better. He started getting into MP four,
- 4:58he started getting into HTVC, You started getting into all sorts of crazy
- 5:01codecs. Progress, you just start it's it's crazy now, right, So
- 5:06that's all considered base band. So SDI is considered base band. Right,
- 5:11A seven to twenty P signal is one and a half gigs bandwidth ten ADP,
- 5:17three gigs. Right, So our core router, the ports each there
- 5:24are I don't know how many porches bunched, right, but each port is
- 5:27ten gig ten gig a bandwidth. Wow wow, Yeah, so you can
- 5:31cram in three ten EIGHTP signals into one port, great, great, in
- 5:38and out, no problem. Okay, they're new routers are doing eight hundred
- 5:45gigabits for port. Oh my gosh. Why so eight provisioning for eight K
- 5:53and four K yeah, I mean that's just your provisioning for eight K content.
- 5:57I mean when you're trying to move multiple eight K signals around, I
- 6:02mean eight four K is four ten eighty P signals, right, So that's
- 6:09yeah, three six, that's almost ten gigs per stream. So then you
- 6:14take that and you go up to eight k, right, you're quickly exceeding
- 6:19capacity of a lot of a lot of professional level equipment at that point.
- 6:26So we're just future planning on what does our next steps right look like?
- 6:30Right, So we're looking at things that can do and support twenty five gig,
- 6:34one hundred gig, two hundred gig, like we're kind of just pushing
- 6:38it out there to see what we're doing. But we're also trying to leverage
- 6:43the cloud, cloud production, remote production. So there's a big push for
- 6:48what does cloud production look like for our business? There's cloud you know what,
- 6:54there's what does it look like for our partnership with NBC and ESPN.
- 6:58So there's this huge cloud thing, cloud push. So this trip was all
- 7:02about future planning with this listic vendor and it was a good trip. Got
- 7:08to go to Canada, I got to see the factory, got to see
- 7:11the facility where all the R and D and stuff is made, and get
- 7:15to see their new fancy tools and toys. And do you think of this
- 7:17this point, Sean though that when you think about AK or four k H,
- 7:23is this something that could be on campus so everybody on campus could be
- 7:27able to receive a four K AK stream? Is this something though? Broadcast?
- 7:31Do you think broadcast television will eventually go this route? Now? If
- 7:36it does, it's gonna be like it is now, where you're gonna have
- 7:40to pay extra for the four K the broadcast TV, there's no incentive to
- 7:44go to four K. There's no incentive the business like the TV, the
- 7:48TV that you know and that I grew up with, then the majority of
- 7:53our listeners probably knows no longer. That's that there is no longer the viable
- 7:56of his model. Right, And the vendors said, we showed people four
- 8:03K and ten adphdr together, right, and more often than not, people
- 8:09prefer the ten ADPHDR over the four K. That's interesting. Canedy phdr is
- 8:15going to be great because you also have to look at where people are watching
- 8:18their content. They're watching it on other TVs, they're smart TVs, they're
- 8:22watching it. They're not watching it over there, They're watching it on a
- 8:24streaming platform. Right, there's no incentive, there's no incentive for any streaming
- 8:31provider to push four K and pay for that bandwidth. If you have well,
- 8:35if you think about it like take a Me TV or any of these
- 8:37TV shows. They play a lot of the old television shows, the Monsters,
- 8:41Adam's Family, you know, a Petticoat Junction, et cetera. There's
- 8:45no reason for those to upscale. You're getting four eighty and that's you know,
- 8:48that's about it, right, And even with ats C three point zero,
- 8:52Right, it's provisioned for being able to broadcast with four K. But
- 8:58you have to get people to put money into those facilities to do four K,
- 9:03and that's not gonna happen. Yeah, You're not seeing traditional television stations
- 9:05invest that kind of money and do it in producing content that gives them no
- 9:11value in return. Right, So ten ad PHDR is likely going to not
- 9:16It's not gonna be the end, all right. As the math gets better
- 9:20on transmission, they squeeze more and more out of the radio spection. Four
- 9:22K will come around, right, but it's gonna be a while. It's
- 9:26so funny. It's so funny though, because sean radio. We'll take a
- 9:30look at radio and you're listening to everybody that's listening to the radio right now.
- 9:33Over the years, it always was always ingrained, you know, you
- 9:37do it at the highest quality, the highest bit rate. And now it's
- 9:41honestly, you know, except for music. Music is very important to have
- 9:46at the highest bitrate that you can. But for you know, for talk
- 9:52radio, everything is like one eight. It's it's you know, mono and
- 9:56it's basic, the lowest quality you can go because it's acceptable, just like
- 10:03the old TV shows. Yeah, so it's it's it's you don't people aren't
- 10:09going to corporations, aren't gonna want to spend money where there's no return.
- 10:13So you will likely see ten ad p h t R continue to lead at
- 10:18be the forefront of major sports and news broadcasts, and you'll see the occasional
- 10:22four K, right, most stuff is. So that's the thing, right,
- 10:26people have to remember, right, a lot of stuff for a lot
- 10:28of sports is shot in four K or eight K, right, and then
- 10:33it's downscale to ten ADP. So you take a four you take a lot
- 10:37of this four K stuff, and you downscale your program output to ten ad
- 10:41phdr because it looks good. Yeah, the benefit is native, right four
- 10:46K. Yeah, you're gonna get a better looking picture, but it's not
- 10:50native. It's native four K, but it's not broadcast in four K.
- 10:54Not everything. There are some things that are broadcasting in four K, like
- 10:58the the direct TV stuff, right, but you're still paying for that.
- 11:00I mean it's you're going I feel you're gonna see a lot less of that.
- 11:03We've seen that with big major sporting events like you know the Bowl games
- 11:09or you know a Major League Baseball where they may broadcast something in the highest
- 11:13quality possible. Well where are you? But where are you watching that?
- 11:16Right? Justin paid for YouTube TV four K? Right, so he's getting
- 11:20what a compressed four K signal? Mm hmm, probably at ten adp quality.
- 11:26Like it's people just want the biggest and the best, because that's what
- 11:31everybody tells you. But it's like ten ad phdr is going to be this
- 11:37like is going to be the golden goose for a long time to count.
- 11:39Right now, when you're shooting something to say at at the university, you
- 11:45are shooting it the highest quality and again downskills. Is it available in archives
- 11:48though that if somebody wanted to come back and watch it, they'd be able
- 11:52to watch it in the highest quality. Is that possible? So we depends
- 11:58on what it is. Not everything we shoot gets archived at so our recording
- 12:05our dream Catcher recording system records at one hundred meg. Okay, all right,
- 12:11it's basically pro rose a hund bank. We don't if we're saving it.
- 12:18We're clipping, making the clip and we're exporting it as an MP four
- 12:22at thirty meg. Because usually it's just going to the web or delivering it
- 12:26to a client. We don't hardly ever save the full hundred meg. Or
- 12:31if you're athletics, athletics does. Athletics saves all the high res hundred big
- 12:37stuff right because they're archiving it. They're going they're keeping all that archive stuff,
- 12:43and not everything that we do for the university is needs to be archive.
- 12:48Right. A lot of the stuff for the President's Office is still being
- 12:52shot one off and that stuff's being archived internally with the President's office or the
- 12:56Marketing Communications department. But of our broadcasted stuff outside of Athletics is only saved
- 13:03at thirty or ten minus. I still have not made the move yet,
- 13:09and we've talked about this, you know, I'm on Exfinity, I've got
- 13:13that as my provider, and we've been talking about Okay, I'm going to
- 13:16do the demo for YouTube TV to see because from what I understand with YouTube
- 13:22TV, the savings could be about one hundred and twenty five bucks a month
- 13:26by going from cable to YouTube TV. Yeah. I would have to go
- 13:30back and look because I know we've talked about this before with Kale's parents.
- 13:33When they went from Spectrum Cable right and Comcast Cable to YouTube TV, they
- 13:46were paying like one hundred and forty bucks a month or something right for all
- 13:50their channels, and it dropped them down to like seventy five a month.
- 13:52Yeah, that's what I think the price is. So, I mean,
- 13:54seventy five bucks a month is a lot better than one hundred and sixty one
- 13:58hundred. Yeah, plus she gets once you get some DVR options and you
- 14:01get some quality of life stuff like you can say, hey, I want
- 14:03to watch this program, and you can come back in and just watch that
- 14:07program and it'll record episodes for you as it goes, so you can just
- 14:09watch basically DVRs and for you like a streaming service. You can watch one
- 14:13episode, it'll go right to the next episode, like you can binge a
- 14:16series that you've saved on you TTV. Do you think, though, Sean,
- 14:20do you think though that we're gonna find that the providers like Exfinity or
- 14:26Spectrum or anybody that's providing the internet end of that, are gonna see the
- 14:33prices continuing to increase as people drop off the their cord cutting and they say,
- 14:39well, we're not going to get the cable service anymore. We're gonna
- 14:43go to an antenna, or we're gonna go to YouTube TV, and they're
- 14:46gonna need that bandwidth to be able to watch those shows. Yeah, you're
- 14:50gonna see the prices continue to go up. That's just the way it is.
- 14:54Right. Just today, even Microsoft Game Pass raising the price. Oh
- 14:58you kidding me? Really, everything is, every extreaming service is going up
- 15:03because it's bandwidth. Right. These people, these corporations have to pay their
- 15:07internet providers for the bandwidth, right, And the more bandwidth you consume,
- 15:13the more it costs them. Well, I have something to tell you,
- 15:18Sean. A couple of weeks ago on the show, when you and I
- 15:22were talking, I was telling you about my TPM two point zero module that
- 15:26I had bought. I had bought a twenty pin twenty minus one pin TPM
- 15:31two point zero module. I was so excited. I got that module in
- 15:37and I downsized my half nine thirty two into a fractal g which we talked
- 15:43about. And I finally took that TPM two point zero module and tried to
- 15:48plug it in wrong side, wrong size. It was a fourteen minus one
- 15:54that I needed, so luckily I was able to return it and order the
- 16:00right one. I got the right one in. I was so excited because
- 16:03what this would mean with this TPM TPM two point oner module. And for
- 16:08those listening, and we mentioned it before, Microsoft Windows ten will cease,
- 16:15uh getting the updates next October, not this October, the following October.
- 16:21So I thought, let's be ahead of the curve. I'm wanna go ahead
- 16:23and update this to Windows eleven. And I put that TPM two point zero
- 16:29module in, rebooted the computer, went into the bios. There it was,
- 16:34it saw it, it was ready to go, so I went ahead
- 16:37and enabled it. I'm so excited that this means I will be on the
- 16:41pathway to installing Windows eleven. I was excited. And I also copied everything
- 16:47from a four hundred and eighty you know, gigabyte drive to a one terra
- 16:52by drive, so had all this extra space talked about that got it all
- 16:56cleared, rebooted. It then went to PC health Check. And if you
- 17:00don't have PC helf check everybody, you can go to Microsoft dot com.
- 17:03You could get the PC health check to test your system to make sure it's
- 17:07upgradeable to Windows eleven. And I knew at this point it was gonna tell
- 17:11me, yes, you're ready to go. And it saw the two TPM
- 17:15two point zero module, but it said my processor did not qualify. And
- 17:22that's exactly the face you just made, is the face I made? Wait
- 17:26what so I I have a sixty six hundred I seven inside this computer from
- 17:33Intel. It's a good processor right for four gigahertz, I think, and
- 17:40it is not qualified because it's a seventh generation, not an eighth generation or
- 17:45above, and because that's crazy. Because of that, it will not qualify
- 17:49there and I went online. I've been a break in for a public service
- 17:52anomous real quick, so rate weather safety big. We have a big storm
- 17:56coming. I don't know if you can hear in the background, but oh
- 18:00well, everybody should have a weather radio. Oh wow, weather radio is
- 18:03going off. So I'm just gonna go hit it real quick, so I'll
- 18:04be right back, just gonna make sure Okay, something crazy going. Oh
- 18:07this is great. This is like what we went through earlier this week weather
- 18:11wise, with the tornado reported in Morana. That was a lot of fun.
- 18:15Well while he's taking care of that, so I was so excited.
- 18:18And but no, so before if you run the PC hell check and your
- 18:25back everything, okay, savere thunders from morning. Yeah. So it's just
- 18:27we have a really big stormline coming through that spawned a bunch of tornadoes of
- 18:32Wisconsin and Illinois. So oh my lord, just I just want to make
- 18:34sure like big I'm a big weather or not, right, So just just
- 18:38what weather safety right? So get if you have a Noah enabled weather radio,
- 18:44get it plugged in, turn it on. It's automatic it you know,
- 18:47automatically a trigger from the alarm. So you might have heard it going
- 18:49off in the back room there as I was opening the door. But we
- 18:52wait to have it's say if it's it's just beneficial to have in case of
- 18:55university. We needed this. Earlier this week, we actually had a torn
- 19:00warning here in Tucson in Miranda where I live, and something hit us.
- 19:04One person said on the web it was a tornado. Others are saying of
- 19:08his heavy storm. Either way, my stuff in my backyard went all the
- 19:12way over to the wall, and I saw my frame, window frame,
- 19:17my screen from the window fly over into my neighbor's yard, all caught on
- 19:21camera. Gotta love that. But all right, it's it's crazy. I
- 19:25means I need to go shut my shed. Also, that's all right,
- 19:26I'll get to that in a minute. You want to do that right now,
- 19:29we can take a quick break. Oh, let's if we take our
- 19:33break, I'll come back. I gotta go shut the shed. I'm gonna
- 19:36put the security footage and be running into the backyard of my outfit. Though.
- 19:38All right, perfect, I gotta see this. We will take a
- 19:41break, we'll come back. I will tell the rest of my story of
- 19:44why you need to do a little research before you want to upgrade to Windows
- 19:47eleven. I'm Andy Taylor. I'm shot to Weard. Find us on Facebook
- 19:51at Facebook. Talkers Seoan is the guy without Facebook, and he's I'm to
- 20:00Airic. Find us on Facebook at tech talk Radio. Yeah, well that's
- 20:03me, but tech Talkers is the one tech Talkers. All right, Now,
- 20:06you get to run out of here with your BUCkies outfit. We got
- 20:07to see how that looks. We'll post the picture upon the worldwide web again,
- 20:11tech talk radio dot com, the website blog dot tech talk radio dot
- 20:15com. We'll be right back and now fact to tech talk radio. Right.
- 20:21Sean is back from running to the shed in his BUCkies outfit, which
- 20:25I love it. First thing you said to me when you got back.
- 20:27It's a humid out there, and I think you're wearing a BUCkies outfit.
- 20:32Yes, I'm wearing your Buggies outfit. It is hot. I want to
- 20:37I want to just pull up the weather because the lighting is pretty intense.
- 20:38When I was out there, it hadn't started rating at but it's coming,
- 20:41so all right. So now you you you recommended though before you went out,
- 20:45uh, weather radio and naa weather radio? Why is this something to
- 20:48have? So the weather radio is good to have because if you have,
- 20:52if you haven't plugged in in an area that get reception, is that Noah,
- 20:56We'll issue the next you know, Noah or the National Weather Service will
- 21:03issue these weather alerts, safety alerts, tornado alerts, warn't, tornado warnings,
- 21:07thunderstorm warnings, whatever, whatever, and they automatically come to your to
- 21:11your radio, so you'll probably hear it again, hear it a little bit
- 21:17because it's it's gonna get ugly for us. But it alarms. It's got
- 21:21an alarm on it, and you have to you basically have to snooze the
- 21:23alarm on it when it pops up. But it's just good to have because
- 21:29if you don't know a storm's coming, if you're not paying attention, you
- 21:32can pop in and you can look and you can just hear. It'll just
- 21:36alert you. It's just good to have. It's safe, it's it's recommended
- 21:38to have in an emergency. Right A radio is good to have, especially
- 21:44when that's battery powered or hand cranked right, solar power, whatever, because
- 21:48if your power goes out and you need access to information, you don't have
- 21:51the internet anymore. Five G cell phones are going to be crammed up.
- 21:55You know, everybody's gonna be on their cell phones trying to get information.
- 21:57It's just beneficial to have because they'll put out the most up to date information
- 22:00on the radio. And they're not they're not that expensive right these nowhere,
- 22:06I just you can buy them at yard sales all the time. People get
- 22:10rid of them all the time. I bought I bought another one for two
- 22:11dollars. So I have one upstairs too. So Klem is probably gonna be
- 22:15mad because it's probably probably one off upstairs too. I have one in the
- 22:18basement and I have one upstairs because I don't want to have to if there's
- 22:22an emergency and we need to get into the basement, I don't want to
- 22:23have to be like, oh, let me grab the radio and unplug stuff.
- 22:26There's one in the basement already plugged in. All right. So I
- 22:30wanted to show you. So you like to use a weather app called Radar
- 22:34Radar Omega. Radar Omega, all right, Radar Omega. I think it's
- 22:40eight bucks, eight eight. What I like about it is it's for the
- 22:44storm chaser enthusiast, right, It's a great weather app that you can use
- 22:48to find segmented whether rate segmented, whether radar data for your area. But
- 22:53you can also track storm chasers right through the app. So you have your
- 22:59favorite store chaser, you can find out where they're at. Yep. So
- 23:02if you so look at it, this storm is insane, right, look
- 23:03at this storm. Wow, there's all these warnings tornado warning there near Bloomington,
- 23:08Indiana. We're getting this little nugget. We're getting this little nugget right
- 23:14over my house right now. Now. This was recorded earlier this week,
- 23:17so you know, if anybody's listening to that area, this is maybe not
- 23:19happening right now. So there you got not happen right now. But we've
- 23:22had got this pretty intense storm coming through right and we're about to get that
- 23:26is really so. But what's cool about is you'll find these little green dots.
- 23:32Okay, I can zoom man and I colick on it and it'll pop
- 23:34it up and they'll pull up their stream right in the app. Oh my
- 23:37gosh, are you kidding me? Oh? That is so cool. It
- 23:41will give me their look. Oh you might have been able to hear that
- 23:45thunder on the camp run, Yeah you can, so you can pull that
- 23:48one up. I want to see this other stream instead, and you can
- 23:52find all of these people who are chasing storms that are part of this app,
- 23:56right so you can see Oh, so you could see what they're seeing
- 24:02because they're streaming it live while they're out on the road. Yep. So
- 24:06you can come in and then you might find people. So it just depends
- 24:08on who you want to watch or where you want to watch all right,
- 24:11But based on what I can hear from outside right now, it's very stormy.
- 24:15I can hear the thunder pretty loud over my headphones against everything. But
- 24:18so I'm a big whether or not you guys know that we've talked about this
- 24:22before, but I just wanted to share this radar Omega app. If you're
- 24:26viewing it on the web, I'll share a link to it in the blog.
- 24:29But it's just a great It's just a great and you can pay for
- 24:33more upgrades in future, you know, because right now it just doesn't do
- 24:36forecasting. Okay, so you're not You won't tell you in six hours you
- 24:41can have this storm come through. It's just what is happening right now.
- 24:44Yeah, it'll give me about three or four minutes worth of time, like
- 24:47this is what's happening, and then if I refresh the app, it'll give
- 24:49me back to real time. But if I'm not mistaken though, when there's
- 24:52a storm chaser that's nearby, that means they've probably got the inside circle and
- 24:59the lemetry of what is happening with a storm, So that will tell you
- 25:03where a storm could certainly be. Right Yeah, So I mean, obviously
- 25:07you can track the storms based on and this will give you the National Weather
- 25:11Service alert. It's like, if you click on this yellow box, it'll
- 25:15tell you, hey, there's a fear, there's a weird dinners from warning.
- 25:18There, it'll tell you what it expires. You can click on the
- 25:21red ones, Hey there's a tornado warning and whether or not it's radar indicated
- 25:25or just observed. So it just kind of gives you an idea of where
- 25:30things are and so you can be a little bit more prepared. That is
- 25:33cool. Radio Omega and again it's an eight dollars radar radar Omega Radar Omega.
- 25:38Sorry, and it's an eight dollars cost for it, but there's no
- 25:44no cost after that. Basically that's eight dollars one time. You've got it.
- 25:48Yeah, there are other features that you you can pay for that you
- 25:51can extend your experience, but the first, the one time fee to buy
- 25:56the app gets you pretty much everything you need unless you really want to start
- 26:00tracking and do forecasting into more stuff too, right, I like it very
- 26:04good stuff. All right, So we were talking about the TPM two point
- 26:10zero. What you need to do if you are thinking about upgrading your system,
- 26:17go to the Microsoft website and you can look under the Windows eleven upgrade
- 26:22path. It will tell you all of the processors that could be used upgrade.
- 26:27So at this point, I thought, Okay, I've got this Asus
- 26:30Z one seventy a motherboard. I could go ahead and maybe just buy another
- 26:34processor that would qualify for it should be easy enough, right, No,
- 26:41that board apparently has some issues and there are no processors available that I could
- 26:47put into this board that will allow me to upgrade it to Windows eleven.
- 26:49It's kind of sad. I mean, it really is sad, and you
- 26:53feel like you feel like number one Microsoft's let you down or number two Intel
- 27:00has let hit down because and now I'm at the point I'm gonna send this
- 27:03TPM two point zero module back because it's really not going to benefit me because
- 27:07I'm not going to be able to go to Windows eleven with that board.
- 27:11Yeah, that's unfortunate. And it's it's that it's that planned obsolescent type thing,
- 27:15right, And but I get it, right, you can't have older
- 27:22security, right you think, and I security it's pretty good, right,
- 27:26yeah, but it lives in an era long enough ago that there are known
- 27:32security vulnerabilities that can be taken advantage of by bad actors. Yeah, that's
- 27:37just the simple factor of the world we live in right now. Older technology
- 27:40is vulnerable exactly. And we talked about we talked about this to the last
- 27:44show I was on. Right, Should I reboot my computer? Should I
- 27:47reboot my phone? Should I be on the most up to data iOS or
- 27:51os or whatever? Yeah? You should. If I've got that old computer
- 27:55running Window, the next peak, should I connect it to the net and
- 27:57plug it in? So are great, there's a great resource you can go
- 28:03and you can find it. Just google it. How how fast does it
- 28:04take to compromise a Windows XP computer? Pretty shocked? Google it? If
- 28:10you're interested in it, google it. It's seconds. The Windows XP shows
- 28:15up on the Internet. It's compromised immediately. And you're not going to sites
- 28:19that would I mean, you're not even going into sites it's just there.
- 28:23It's just it's just the ports that are open for you to get to the
- 28:27Internet are being snooped by billions of devices all the time, bot farms,
- 28:33you name it, looking for those vulnerabilities. Now, I will say,
- 28:37and somebody asked me this, Sean, tell me your thoughts on this.
- 28:40They have games that they played under you know, Windows ninety five, ninety
- 28:44eight, Windows XP, and they love these games. They're not multiplayer games,
- 28:48they're single player games. They have the CD material for it. They
- 28:52want to play their old games now other than you know, gog if it's
- 28:57available, could they have a system that's not connected to the net. Just
- 29:03turning it on will not put them in a situation where they could be infected
- 29:07with malware. Oh yeah. I mean if you have an older computer and
- 29:11you want to play your old games on it, just don't connect it to
- 29:14the internet. Yeah, I mean, you can still run old machines no
- 29:19problem, right, And there's nothing stopping you from building a Windows xpre machine
- 29:26or Windows ninety machine or Windows ninety five machine or Windows Street. Go geek
- 29:32out at all that stuff, right, But you're going to be sorely disappointed
- 29:37on how little nostalgia there is to how insufferable it was. We did.
- 29:44Yeah, we didn't think of it back then, did we. We didn't
- 29:45think of how bad. You don't realize how the quality of life on newer
- 29:52software is now. There's disadvantage to that, right, because marketing has gone
- 29:56the way it has to stuff our face it's full of ads and every nook
- 30:00and cranny of our computer. Nowadays you won't have that. You know.
- 30:03Windows seven probably the best operating system that existed. Yeah, the best platform,
- 30:10the best user experience, in my opinion, Windows Windows eight was terrible.
- 30:15They started serving ads in the start bar. Then Windows ten came along,
- 30:18and when those tenant first was great. They didn't start serving they didn't
- 30:22start serving ads immediately. They waited for a while, and then they started
- 30:26jamming ads down your throat. And with Windows eleven and Windows twelve coming,
- 30:32it's just you're gonna be getting ads, and it's inevitable until it's inevitable until
- 30:37they're going to be able to insert ads into games you're playing while you're playing
- 30:41them live, right, you're gonna get a break. It's gonna be It's
- 30:42just there's gonna be straight to your brain of the ads. Well, it
- 30:47could be a can of soda on the counter that is interchangeable, so maybe
- 30:51uh, you know, Coca Cola is paying for it this week and then
- 30:55Pepsi paying for the next week. That could change. I mean, well,
- 30:57it's yeah, it's all licensing and stuff. Right, You're even seeing
- 31:00older games that people are streaming older games that have cop that have copyrighted music
- 31:06in them that they were licensed for that game that those licenses have run out
- 31:08right, And people streams are getting taken down because they're playing a game that
- 31:12has copyrighted music in it that is no longer licensed by that people that own
- 31:17the game. So therefore they're playing copyrighted music. Therefore the stream is taken
- 31:19Yeah, it's crazy, it's all money. Pretty crazy how that works.
- 31:23So this is what I ended up doing, Sean. I have in the
- 31:27meantime, because you know, in our studio, we have we have our
- 31:32our streaming server, which is what we're on right now, and that's the
- 31:34one I was trying to get updated to Windows eleven. Then we have our
- 31:37recording system that is recording the audio for the show. So went ahead and
- 31:44I ordered a brand new motherboard. I kind of stick with Asus on this
- 31:48I got even though the A one seventy A is the one I have in
- 31:52this system. So I ordered the board Amazon was having to sale this past
- 31:56week the best price I could find on a processor. I got a process
- 32:00so that will fit, and got you know, thirty two gigabytes of sixty
- 32:05four hundred memory, and I'm going to update that one to Windows eleven.
- 32:07But I just, out of a whim, I decided, you know what,
- 32:13it's been a long time, it's time for me to play around with
- 32:15a boon too a little. And I found a installation called woo Boom too
- 32:22wub U n TU, and I decided to give it a shot. Now,
- 32:30the crazy thing is, I went ahead and I installed it freshly on
- 32:35a one terabyte drive. You have to download the ISO and then use a
- 32:40program like I have a Roxio nine to create onto a DVD that pro that
- 32:46ISO to create that install You could also do it with a flash drive,
- 32:51depending on the program you're using. And I installed wio boom too. Now
- 32:54they do ask for a thirty five dollars donation to unlock all of their power,
- 32:59to which I want to end. I went in did because it's always
- 33:01good support the developer. And I'll tell you it, Sean, it's weird.
- 33:07This thing looks just like Windows. I mean exactly like Windows. Yeah,
- 33:13you mentioned Wubantu, right, that's something I looked into. It's designed
- 33:16and I was told this by a coworker. It's design to mimic when it
- 33:20was eleven now with the with the Linux flavor and it yeah it's Linux.
- 33:25There are different apps I could install. I was able to install Skype.
- 33:30I was able to install Edge. I was able to install Google Chrome.
- 33:34I was able to there's the Office. You can install on this, I
- 33:37guess, or at least Skype. What year is this right? I still
- 33:42have Skype, but I was able to install those. I couldn't install any
- 33:45of my Adobe programs, but I could install Audacity if I wanted to,
- 33:50not that I really have a need. And it's been great. I mean
- 33:53it's it's again. It looks like Windows eleven. I haven't tried any games
- 34:00on a of course, because it's really the main scence. I mean,
- 34:04to be fair, right, your video, even though it's squished into a
- 34:07four y three because you don't have the right drivers for it, looks better
- 34:12now than it did before. Yeah, it's weird. I don't have a
- 34:15lot of just tech. Yeah, just looks better. So even the generic
- 34:19drivers on stuff just looks better. So, I mean there is a solution
- 34:22of people will ask is Linux will boom to boom too? Is it's safe?
- 34:29Because people think if they get this and they install it, they run
- 34:31it that they're going to be more susceptible to malware they would on a Windows
- 34:37machine. And no, I mean every operating system has its flaws right right,
- 34:45and every operating system gets security patches and updates. So as long as
- 34:50you're running the most up to date version of Lubuntu, Ubuntu DBI and red
- 34:53Hat, Fedora, whatever distribution of Linus you're using, as long as you
- 35:00you're not doing anything nefarious like surfing the dark web or you know, want
- 35:04shady websites, they're going to be just fine. And you know, my
- 35:08father in law was a big you know when when they had multiple computers in
- 35:14their house. He was like, I need antivirus on every computer. I
- 35:15need multiple licenses. And I was like, ran it in, dude,
- 35:20they don't need You don't need a license of a vast or whatever on every
- 35:24computer. Windows Defender is fine. Right. We're in the age that the
- 35:30the operating systems, the vendors, Microsoft, Apple, you a bunch of
- 35:36whatever, are taking this way more seriously than they used to, and they're
- 35:39making it easier and cheaper because it benefits them in the long run. Right,
- 35:43there's no nothing good can come of you know, like when Windows when
- 35:49they had the want to Cry or when they had the low two hack or
- 35:52whatever bad pr Right, So you're safe, right, if you're running Whendow
- 36:00ten and you're up to date, you're safe exactly. But the thing is
- 36:06next October is when you're probably not gonna be safe after that. And that's
- 36:10at least that's how you're getting your you're being made to feel through Microsoft because
- 36:16they'll push no more security updates. Yeah, they'll still push major vulnerability security
- 36:23updates, hope, right, they won't. They won't push bug fixes,
- 36:28they're not going to be pushing quality of life fixes. But they'll continue just
- 36:31like they did. You know, they they they say, we're never going
- 36:35to push Windows updates. But then you heard, you know, the the
- 36:39log J two attack or whatever that happened three years ago, and they said,
- 36:44oh, here's a Windows XP Service Pack three security update exactly because of
- 36:50how many critical infrastructure pieces of infrastructure around the country, around the world still
- 36:54run on XP first software that wasn't poorted over to the Windows ten or Window
- 37:00seven or whatever. So you'll still continue to get major security updates to Windows
- 37:07ten for a while. I think it's it's funny because click who's not here
- 37:12with us has always been a big proponent of Linux and a boontu. And
- 37:16you know, I ran a flavor of a boom to many many many years
- 37:21ago, and I remember I loved the experience. I forgot how much fun
- 37:24it was to actually install it. And people will say, on an older
- 37:29system, you may be able to run a distribution of Linux on it and
- 37:34get a new life for that system, whether it be a laptop or even
- 37:37a desktop computer that maybe was running a little slow. Linux is the lighter
- 37:42weight operating system, so it just demands less resources from your computer, and
- 37:45it has a wider variety of open source drivers and things, so things just
- 37:50seem to operate a little bit smoother. Not everything has support, you have
- 37:55to remember, right Linux. Not everything is supported by Linux. And the
- 38:01big one of a lot of people don't remember is that Ubuntu doesn't support some
- 38:08HG six four encoding either. That's right. Ubuntu doesn't pay H two six
- 38:14four, So it's weird to think about, like, oh, everything's H
- 38:17six four, howckey you can't support it? Well, Ubuntu would have to
- 38:22pay. I don't remember if it's a Buntu or if it's a different distribution.
- 38:24One of the major distributions doesn't support H two six four hardware encoding right
- 38:30because they're not paying H two six four. I believe Debian does, but
- 38:37so there's one of the major eventors. So you just gotta remember there's certain
- 38:38things you're gonna learn that well they're not supported. Well, you got to
- 38:43find the flavor that works for you, because there are dozens of flavors of
- 38:45Linux that sor serve different purposes. It's said though, Sean. I did
- 38:51a search after I got this installed, and I've used it with a studio
- 38:54in studio guest and now using it with you here doing it remotely, and
- 39:00I thought, let's see how it works with tonight to do this, and
- 39:05I read a review. I did a search of will Boom Too, and
- 39:08the story that came up said, why you the one Linux distribution you don't
- 39:13want to install? And it was will Boom Too. Now the guy yeah,
- 39:16but why the guy was talking. He was saying, well, you
- 39:20know they've got licensed it. Does it looks like Windows eleven? I mean
- 39:23the way it's laid out, this is and that's all owned by Microsoft.
- 39:27They're going to be you know, there's probably gonna be some challenges and meaning
- 39:30they won't get the support anymore. So I you know, I don't know.
- 39:34I'm having fun with it though, So that's the whole point, right,
- 39:37That's the whole point is have fun with it. That's the whole point
- 39:40about doing computer stuff is you get that fun and you get to poke around,
- 39:44you get to play like. Not everybody likes to do that. Some
- 39:46people just want I want to type my word to do with Facebook? Yeah,
- 39:52right, But some people like to poke around and reinstall operating systems and
- 39:54build computers like That's that's the part of it. So what if it's not
- 39:58gonna have support, but you you did a cool thing and you had fun.
- 40:00Now I'm thinking about the next one is Neptune. I'm hearing Neptune.
- 40:06It was just Debian is a good one for multimedia systems, and that's why
- 40:09I mentioned that. I do believe maybe there's eight two to sixty four in
- 40:13that one. I don't know. I want to find out. So again,
- 40:15the only thing I could do is it'll go ahead and give it a
- 40:19shot. Try it. Nothing to lose. I mean you could. As
- 40:23always, we recommend if you're going to try shareware of any kind, you
- 40:29know, make a donation. You know, if I was to go out
- 40:31and buy the copy of Windows eleven, it costs me one hundred, nineteen
- 40:35hundred and twenty bucks thirty five dollars for this one. And apparently I will
- 40:38get the power tools updates and I will be able to use it and have
- 40:43some fun. And then you could do the same thing with Debian if you
- 40:45want to try that. But it's kind of cool. All right, we're
- 40:49gonna take another quick break. We're gonna come back with more of tech talk
- 40:52Radio. I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Seonda Weird. Find us on x at
- 40:55tech talk Radio. Now back to tech talk Radio. I don't want to
- 41:00buy just the absolute primo system out today. That usually wastes money. So
- 41:05I'll be doing some digital photography, maybe some video editing, don't do any
- 41:08gaming at all, so I don't have that demand on the computer. It's
- 41:12wondering what you guys would suggest, either in brands or just in general speed
- 41:15and where do you go to get the maximum bang for the buck right now?
- 41:19Sounds like you want to max always, like when we have a show
- 41:30and tell on the show, and that's kind of like what we got right
- 41:32now with Sean and the BUCkies outfit. All right, So tell us about
- 41:37this. What is it? Well, I'm gonna's it's in pieces right now,
- 41:40Okay, but I am currently upgrading my fifth generation iPod Touch. Whoa
- 41:51are you kidding me? Really? Oh? Oh my god? My fifth
- 41:53my fifth generation iPod. Don't it's not an iPod Touch. It's the fifth
- 41:59generation iPod video iPod. It's the first one that did video. All right,
- 42:01that's yours. Whatever this is mine, I've got it apart right now.
- 42:05I took took the old hard drive out. I took the battery still
- 42:08in it, but I take it apart a long time ago because I wanted
- 42:13to upgrade the batteries. The battery was shot. Then, my buddy tells
- 42:15me last night, Hey, I found this great website that you can buy
- 42:21new retrofrinted parts for your older iPods to add higher capacity batteries, add more,
- 42:30add more storage, and there's an O S you can run on it
- 42:34so you can play all of your media on it, so you can play
- 42:36your music in your movies, your TV shows, kid from your old iPod.
- 42:39All right, bus that you can swap out the back kit for it
- 42:45so it'll support USBC it'll support Bluetooth, it'll support a bunch of other stuff.
- 42:50So moonlt Dot Market all right, moonlt dot Market is it's a UK
- 42:54website. It's so but they make but so they has. It's called the
- 43:01Classic Connect st card, adapter, battery and glue bundle, so you can
- 43:05take it apart, but you can put in up to two terabytes of storage.
- 43:09And it's a solderless Bluetooth kit with USBC for the iPod Classic. Oh
- 43:15my gosh, now did this set you back a bit? I mean the
- 43:19kit is about one hundred and eighty nine euros, all right, which is
- 43:23I don't know how much that is the euros less than a dollar, so
- 43:27probably about one hundred and fifty bucks. I don't know. I'd have to
- 43:29look. I haven't body yet. This is the last night. This is
- 43:30when I was going to buy it. So you can buy the kit and
- 43:35do it yourself, or you can just buy one from them. Right,
- 43:39that's already been moded out right, that's already been modded. So if you
- 43:45want to have I mean, this was revolutionary when it came out. Oh,
- 43:50if you just want to be able to have it and be able to
- 43:52play movies or TV shows in your pocket. I could fit almost my John.
- 43:58Don't we have phones for that? I mean? Right? But what
- 44:00if I don't have internet? What if service? Oh? Because you could
- 44:05store up to two terabytes on that yesh, got it? Thanks? I
- 44:09could download my shows, my music, whatever. Right, It's like just
- 44:14having the iPod when you had it back in the day. It's kind of
- 44:15cool too, right, I mean. But so then there's another website I
- 44:20want to talk to you about, all right. It's called Elite Obsolete Electronics
- 44:22e OE e OE, al right, Elite is I'm looking for. You're
- 44:29looking for parts, accessories or tools for your iPod, Classic, Raight Pod,
- 44:36Nano, you Rapad, Mini, Right Pod, Dutch Rappo, Juffle,
- 44:37your iPhone Rapad. This website is going to have it. I had
- 44:40somebody asking me the other day, Sean, that they had some old Android
- 44:45phones and they had some old iPhones I don't know, four four s uh.
- 44:52They were wondering about finding the plugs for those. Is this site?
- 44:55Would that be a site to go to? So which one was it for?
- 45:00They had some old Android phones, I want to say, gosh,
- 45:05it would have been early Samsung, And then they had an iPhone four s,
- 45:08so iPhone. So let's go to iPhone, right, iPhone, iPhone
- 45:13four s. Yeah, all right. You can buy a refurbished Apple iPhone
- 45:17four S eight gig for forty five dollars. So you could buy powers and
- 45:22cables. Yeah, you can find all the parts and pieces you would need,
- 45:24power cables, chargers, adapters. You know that really fat forty pin
- 45:29cable that every iPhone came with. I remember that that's on here. You
- 45:31can get USBC to thirty pins, not forty pence. You can get a
- 45:36USBC to thirty pins a charge for sinking. Yeah, they have the one
- 45:39here. They have FireWire cables, They've got all sorts of cool stuff in
- 45:44here. But now they were wondering if they found the power plug for it,
- 45:46would they then be able to power up that device? In most cases,
- 45:51I mean if it's not damaged internally. Yeah, no, I mean
- 45:55most older devices, as long as the battery's not toasted, right, if
- 46:00it's been sitting, and you know, if it wanted to do a low
- 46:01charge capacity whatever, there may be some tips or tricks to get that going,
- 46:06but more often than not, as long as it hasn't been sitting for
- 46:08a decade, it might be at this point for the fours, right,
- 46:12of course, but I have a four S or a four I can plug
- 46:16it in. I think it still works, right. I still have all
- 46:19my old iPhones, including my iPhone two G. Yeah. You know there
- 46:22are companies out there, and I don't know if you've been to some walmarts,
- 46:27I know that they have them in there where you can actually take your
- 46:30old iPhone and you can, you know, actually sell it at these these
- 46:35kiosks and you don't even interact with a person. You see what it is
- 46:38here it is, and then you drop your phone in there, and you
- 46:42know they don't pay very much money. And people have asked me, is
- 46:45that a good idea? And I always say no, I keep everything one
- 46:47of my devices. Yeah. So, I mean as long as you know
- 46:52your data has been wiped, right, but even recently Apple has been known
- 46:57to not really delete things. Right. But don't trust a big box store
- 47:05recycling center for your data. Yeah, don't go trade your phone in for
- 47:08twenty dollars because you know, oh, it's just a hunk of job paper
- 47:12weight whatever. Well, they're going to recycle that or they're going to refer
- 47:15it and make money on it right, and if you don't delete your data
- 47:19properly, you don't know whose hands is going into. So this is gonna
- 47:22be this is gonna be different than I fix It, which I love I
- 47:25fix It. I fix It makes it possible for you to fix with vendor
- 47:30parts from that manufacturer, and you'll get a right to fix when it comes
- 47:37to a lot. They've even doing mice from Logity. Yeah. I would
- 47:42say, like, I fix It is great if it's a current gen device,
- 47:45right, it's all about current gen. I fix It has always been
- 47:46good about current generation stuff. Right. Hey, here's the new iPhone fifteen.
- 47:51We tore it apart day one. They've got a team engineers that are
- 47:54tearing it apart, giving you guides so that you can go in and fix
- 47:58your new your fancy new iPhone fifteen. This elite Obsolete Electrons is designed for
- 48:05older stuff. Like it's it only goes up to ie, well, it
- 48:07goes into the iPhone Axe, but it's older stuff like they have parts for
- 48:12the iPod Classic right, oh wow, they have accessories for the iPod Classics.
- 48:15Stickers and memorabilia like that you can go back and get. You could
- 48:17buy the boxes they have boxes for the old iPod classics for sale, Like
- 48:24they have a bunch of old cool stuff you can buy. You know,
- 48:29old it's just got old Intel stickers, it's got Intel. How about old
- 48:36lap funds laptop type stuff. So I know people have old laptops laying around
- 48:40that they just upgrade and the laptops just sat there. And yeah, this
- 48:44website's designed mostly around Apple products, older Apple products, so not but I'm
- 48:49sure there are other websites that are designed for older laptops. But yeah,
- 48:52I've had people that have reached out to me and I've done data transfers on
- 48:57those old laptops. We get a powered up or we take the hard drive
- 49:00out and we just go ahead and copy the data off of it. And
- 49:04you know, they're usually surprised. And I've asked, do you want me
- 49:07to do a delete recovery where we can recover files that have been deleted,
- 49:13and you know a lot of people so yeah, yeah, yeah, because
- 49:15they forgot what they deleted and then they're like, oh, that's why I
- 49:17deleted it. I didn't want that. So again, I mean, there's
- 49:21there's different tracks for your older stuff that you could still be using today,
- 49:25which is Uh, which is kind of cool. I like, I like
- 49:28this. What is the full address for e OE? Is it e oe
- 49:30dot works? E oe dot work? So I like that one. That
- 49:36is pretty good. What else have you been up to in the last well
- 49:38other than traveling to Canada? Uh? You know the last couple of weeks
- 49:45you seen Have you seen the news that red Box is going away? Red
- 49:49Box is going away? Yep? Microsoft rates their rates on game Pass yep.
- 49:57Crackle every time every time I go to a streaming thing, it's raise
- 50:00they're raising the money. Crackle is going away as well, which is kind
- 50:04of shocking. Yeah, Crackle, Crackle and red Box were owned by the
- 50:08same company. And you know, red Boxes in case you don't know,
- 50:13if you're forgot, you go to you know, your grocery store, or
- 50:15you go to a Walgreens or somewhere, you might find that big red kiosk
- 50:20outside. And they had just run into a situation where they weren't paying the
- 50:24people to get out there and you know, maintain these these DVD boxes.
- 50:30Now, what that means is will they do a sell off on some of
- 50:35that physical media? Will you know? Will that happened? I'm sure,
- 50:38I mean that's that Netflix did the same thing. Right. Netflix had a
- 50:42fire sale on DVDs. You could buy DVDs like a dollars eighty nine off
- 50:45right off. Basically they said there was a point where they basically said,
- 50:49if you get a DVD from us, to just keep it. Yeah.
- 50:51Yeah, because they were ending that you had if you if you had the
- 50:53DVD plan. I had a friend who had the DVD plan up until they
- 50:58canceled it like a year ago. She's like, every every DVD I rented
- 51:00from them, I just kept it. I'm kind of disappointed though, the
- 51:05Crackle is going because you know, when you think about that space, uh,
- 51:10it's a great way for people to get their entertainment where you know.
- 51:14We we've talked about Pluto TV, We've talked about Plex the TV and Sling
- 51:20TV. They got options. Tvo has got options there for you to watch
- 51:24different programs that are available and streaming, you know online, and Crackle was
- 51:29also a way to get movies and TV shows, the whole bit. But
- 51:32it's a difficult, difficult space right now to compete in. Well, it's
- 51:37slice, It's all. We've talked about this in the episode, right,
- 51:39We've talked about licensing throughout this entire episode all comes down to licensing and money,
- 51:44right, So red Box has to license thus movies to rent them.
- 51:47Mhm. So if people aren't renting movies from rent box, they are not
- 51:51making their money back exactly. That's why. That's why like on Prime or
- 51:55any of these other places, right, they're paying for these licenses and it's
- 51:59a bad all right. That's why things come and go from your streaming platform.
- 52:02You can hear my weather radio again. It's going off again, So
- 52:05give me one second. All right, Well a matter of fact, we'll
- 52:07take a break. We come back with more of tech talk Radio. I
- 52:09mean, Taylor, you can find our blog and blog dot tech talkRADIO dot
- 52:15com and now fact to tech talk Radio. So we talked about nostalgia a
- 52:20little bit in this episode. We do that and there's out of your experience
- 52:24on the internet, right right, I think think twenty years ago. Okay,
- 52:29okay, what were you watching on the internet? Oh boy, that
- 52:32was what twenty four? That was twenty years ago? Yeah, two thousand
- 52:37and four. Yeah, things like e Bombs World Now, Bino Black Sheep,
- 52:42Homestar Runner. These are the things I was in high school. Right,
- 52:45So this is all flash video games, right, twenty four it was
- 52:49a video It was a game that I played online. Right, you know,
- 52:52Geo Cities was the big one. Remember the fire was the big one,
- 52:54right, all these big what So this came up about a month ago.
- 53:00So Homestar Runner is this terrible? It's actually a really funny flash animated
- 53:07website that was built back in the early two thousands called Homestar Runner and the
- 53:13head characters and cartoons. They are still releasing content from twenty years ago.
- 53:19No, no, no current, they're still generating new contents. Wow.
- 53:23They just announced they they're one of their characters. You can get like a
- 53:30a puppet, a puppet, so you can you were buying an actual merch
- 53:34merch now for a puppet. That's great. So it's called homestar runner dot
- 53:38com. If you want to waste ten to fifteen minutes on the internet,
- 53:43right, homestar runer dot com. Go watch the strong bad emails. It's
- 53:47it's been memed around the internet. If you go there, you're gonna be
- 53:51like, oh, that's where that meme comes from. Right, Sometimes you
- 53:53find things on the Internet where you know, oh, that's where that meme
- 53:57came from. Them. Yeah, so trot door to the Bordinator. It
- 54:00was part of a skit they did back at the early two thousands from this
- 54:02website home star Runner. All right, homestar runner dot com. I'm gonna
- 54:07have to look that one up. In the meantime, I think somebody needs
- 54:10to develop a video game with Sean inside of BUCkies in his outfit and have
- 54:15you moving around from asle to isle and you have to have Sean find,
- 54:20you know, find the Cashews, find the Praulins find. Is there is
- 54:22there not a BUCkies game yet? Oh my gosh, I wonder we may
- 54:25have come across something ease video game. We're gonna have to develop this one
- 54:30if not. Anyway, we want to thank you for tuning in to the
