Latest / The Paul Barron Crypto Show / Bitcoin "No-Liquidation" Loans💰SALT Interview

- 0:00Speaker 1: Let's dive into crypto lending today and how you can
- 0:03Speaker 1: do it and do it with the best practices. My
- 0:06Speaker 1: name is Paul Barrett. Welcome back into the show. I
- 0:08Speaker 1: wanted to get into it today. A lot of people
- 0:10Speaker 1: have been watching How to Take Loans on your Crypto
- 0:13Speaker 1: because one of the best things you kind of concern
- 0:16Speaker 1: yourself with is should I take those capital gains? Should
- 0:18Speaker 1: I sell my asset? If you're a long term holder,
- 0:21Speaker 1: this is one of those ways to basically tap into
- 0:23Speaker 1: that wealth. If you look at the current lending protocols
- 0:27Speaker 1: out there, this growth has really started to expand over
- 0:31Speaker 1: just the last year. Since twenty twenty four, we saw
- 0:34Speaker 1: TVL around thirty billion. Now this is of course exploded
- 0:38Speaker 1: up to one hundred and twenty seven billion. So the
- 0:39Speaker 1: point is is there is a lot of growth in
- 0:42Speaker 1: lending as a protocol overall. So we wanted to bring
- 0:45Speaker 1: in one of our partners today to kind of dive
- 0:47Speaker 1: in a little bit deeper on this, bringing in doctor
- 0:50Speaker 1: Hunter Albright coming in from Salt.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Great to have you, Hunter, Great to be here, Paul.
- 0:55Speaker 1: All right, so let's get into a little bit about Salt.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Give our audience a framework of what you guys are
- 1:02Speaker 1: trying to do there. How this applies to taking loans
- 1:06Speaker 1: on your crypto specifically bitcoin.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I'd be happy to so. Seawan Owen, who is
- 1:12Speaker 3: our current CEO and one of the co founders of Salt,
- 1:16Speaker 3: really started this out of a personal need and a
- 1:19Speaker 3: personal challenge that he had about twenty fifteen, went to
- 1:23Speaker 3: get a loan against a lot of bitcoin and other
- 1:26Speaker 3: digital assets that he had accumulated and was declined by
- 1:31Speaker 3: a bank in terms of being able to use that
- 1:34Speaker 3: those assets as valuable collateral, and that really set him
- 1:38Speaker 3: down a journey about establishing SALT and building it and
- 1:43Speaker 3: bringing it to the market. And so Salt launched in
- 1:46Speaker 3: twenty sixteen and we have ever since then really been
- 1:50Speaker 3: working to provide capabilities to help people access the value
- 1:55Speaker 3: of the bitcoin and other digital assets that they're accumulating.
- 2:00Speaker 1: When you look at building a company around this, obviously,
- 2:03Speaker 1: bitcoin and in general crypto lending is brand new to
- 2:07Speaker 1: a lot of investors.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Maybe they've never thought about it before.
- 2:11Speaker 1: It's something that they're starting to kind of venture into
- 2:14Speaker 1: because of the exposure we're seeing in the market. But
- 2:17Speaker 1: as far as the kind of customers that are doing
- 2:19Speaker 1: this now most of the time these are people who
- 2:22Speaker 1: are holding bitcoin obviously, but the bigger question is can
- 2:26Speaker 1: anyone do this? Is it something for a small investor
- 2:29Speaker 1: as well as a medium or a large investor.
- 2:33Speaker 3: I really think so, And we're seeing the landscape start
- 2:36Speaker 3: to change and really shift. So traditionally, you're right that
- 2:40Speaker 3: it's the people that have been born against their digital
- 2:43Speaker 3: assets were people that were early into bitcoin and early
- 2:47Speaker 3: into the crypto space in general, and they needed a
- 2:50Speaker 3: way to tap into the value of their assets, and
- 2:54Speaker 3: so they started to pursue loans. As we are seeing
- 2:57Speaker 3: greater exposure to the awareness of bitcoin and the value
- 3:03Speaker 3: continuing to go up, we're seeing more and more people
- 3:06Speaker 3: want to come in as a way of growing their wealth,
- 3:09Speaker 3: whether that is an individual or whether that's a business.
- 3:14Speaker 3: And the other thing that we're seeing globally is just
- 3:17Speaker 3: generally investing in a home is becoming harder, both in
- 3:22Speaker 3: terms of the price point as well as in terms
- 3:25Speaker 3: of how early you can do it, and so we're
- 3:27Speaker 3: seeing a lot of twenty year olds and thirty year
- 3:29Speaker 3: olds thinking about, well, if I can't put money into
- 3:32Speaker 3: a house, in build wealth and build an asset that way,
- 3:36Speaker 3: how else can I do it? And bitcoin is generating
- 3:40Speaker 3: a lot of interest as a asset class to build
- 3:43Speaker 3: wealth with.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Well, let's get you know, something that we talked about
- 3:47Speaker 1: earlier in the week is digital assets have kind of
- 3:50Speaker 1: become the new American dream. You know, it is the
- 3:52Speaker 1: way in which what we will will see in terms
- 3:55Speaker 1: of dollar debasement start to make their way in. And
- 3:58Speaker 1: of course, the next layer, once you're beyond the idea
- 4:01Speaker 1: of an asset going up in price, then the next
- 4:04Speaker 1: factory is is how do you actually yield from it?
- 4:07Speaker 1: You know, do you go park it in a yield
- 4:09Speaker 1: bearing account? Do you take loans against it so you
- 4:11Speaker 1: can go out and use it? That's where you guys
- 4:13Speaker 1: come in. Talk to me a little bit about I'm
- 4:15Speaker 1: looking at your website right now, and one thing you
- 4:18Speaker 1: guys do that I think is probably the most unique
- 4:22Speaker 1: is Salt Shield.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Explain to me.
- 4:24Speaker 1: How you do this because this is one of the
- 4:26Speaker 1: biggest concerns I think everybody I talk to is they're
- 4:29Speaker 1: afraid of liquidation.
- 4:31Speaker 2: How does this work with you guys?
- 4:33Speaker 3: So, yeah, little me start with a little bit of context,
- 4:36Speaker 3: So you know, salt has been working to innovate downside protection,
- 4:41Speaker 3: you know, really throughout its journey within the space. And
- 4:46Speaker 3: so it initially salt launched a capability that we refer
- 4:49Speaker 3: to as stabilization, and this was, you know, at sort
- 4:54Speaker 3: of just shy of ninety one percent LTV, which stands
- 4:57Speaker 3: for loan to value ratio, assets would be converted into
- 5:01Speaker 3: stable coin to assure somebody didn't lose all their value
- 5:05Speaker 3: and get liquidated. We're firmly believers that it's your bitcoin,
- 5:09Speaker 3: it's your digital assets, and we want to do everything
- 5:11Speaker 3: we can to make sure it stays that way. And
- 5:14Speaker 3: so one of the natural evolutions from sort of stabilization was, well,
- 5:18Speaker 3: how else can we protect people in market volatility and
- 5:22Speaker 3: from a downside risk perspective, And that's where salt shield
- 5:26Speaker 3: comes from. And essentially what happens when people enroll in
- 5:29Speaker 3: salt Shield, it's a fee based program that they can
- 5:33Speaker 3: enroll into. They don't have any liquidation call, any liquidation risk.
- 5:39Speaker 3: So essentially what happens is the company is then lending
- 5:43Speaker 3: bitcoin or assets to meet the meat sort of the
- 5:47Speaker 3: final march and call which would have caused liquidation. They
- 5:50Speaker 3: still get march and call notices, they still get alerts
- 5:53Speaker 3: with sort of the system, but it really takes that
- 5:56Speaker 3: sort of disastrous result or implication and out of the
- 6:01Speaker 3: equation for people when they're enrolled.
- 6:03Speaker 1: How far down that rabbit hole do you go? Give
- 6:07Speaker 1: me an example. Is there a limit in which you
- 6:10Speaker 1: guys will backstop that to avoid the you know, the
- 6:14Speaker 1: potential liquidation.
- 6:17Speaker 3: So we are building reserves, and we have other investment
- 6:21Speaker 3: accounts and investors that build up a reserve to be
- 6:26Speaker 3: able to meet the need. The way the product is
- 6:29Speaker 3: structured today is that the protection is for till the
- 6:33Speaker 3: maturity data the loan, and once the maturity the data
- 6:36Speaker 3: the loan happens, we do then look to reset the
- 6:40Speaker 3: assets that are in the account and re re establish
- 6:43Speaker 3: the loan within sort of certain criteria.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Gotcha, all right?
- 6:47Speaker 1: Talk to me a little about how you guys are
- 6:49Speaker 1: different than some of the traditional ones out there. An
- 6:52Speaker 1: example that I'll give you.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Is Morpho Morpho.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Of course, the one thing I don't like about it
- 6:57Speaker 1: is when you're taking a loan within Morpho, you're exiting
- 7:01Speaker 1: into USDC and right now Coinbase doesn't allow you to
- 7:05Speaker 1: just re enter the market into it. I just want
- 7:07Speaker 1: to go buy bitcoin again, you know. So how is
- 7:10Speaker 1: that different for you guys. Do you guys care what
- 7:12Speaker 1: I do with the proceeds? Is there any kind of requirements,
- 7:16Speaker 1: any kind of hoops I have to jump through?
- 7:18Speaker 3: No, we allow people to get the cash in either USD,
- 7:23Speaker 3: USDC or USDT in terms of how you get your
- 7:27Speaker 3: loan proceeds today, and we have no requirements on what
- 7:31Speaker 3: the use of those proceeds are applied to. What we
- 7:35Speaker 3: typically see is three predominant use cases. So a lot
- 7:38Speaker 3: of our customers will use the proceeds just to live life,
- 7:42Speaker 3: to pay for things that occur in their life, whether
- 7:44Speaker 3: the it's a trip, whether it's an emergency expense. We
- 7:48Speaker 3: have had a customer use the funds to adopt a child,
- 7:53Speaker 3: and so it really is just, hey, I've accumulated all
- 7:56Speaker 3: this value, how do I tap into it? From an
- 7:59Speaker 3: individual side, and then from a business side, we see
- 8:03Speaker 3: people using it as a corporate reserve to smooth out
- 8:07Speaker 3: cash flows and to invest in additional or capital assets
- 8:12Speaker 3: to help grow their business. The other two use cases
- 8:16Speaker 3: that are becoming more prominent. One is around income replacement,
- 8:20Speaker 3: So we're seeing people borrow against their bitcoin to effectively
- 8:23Speaker 3: retire on bitcoin or supplement their income. So they can
- 8:27Speaker 3: decrease the amount that they're working. And then the third
- 8:30Speaker 3: use set of use cases is really for further investment
- 8:34Speaker 3: and growth opportunities, where people are now understanding I can
- 8:38Speaker 3: borrow against my bitcoin in sort of a tax efficient way.
- 8:42Speaker 3: I can then choose to use those proceeds to maybe
- 8:45Speaker 3: go invest in other dividend producing assets or a diversification
- 8:50Speaker 3: of assets so that I can have a more complete portfolio.
- 8:54Speaker 1: So you guys, of course, I'm looking now at your site.
- 8:57Speaker 1: This is on the business tab right here, so powering
- 9:00Speaker 1: your business, and there was quite a few options here
- 9:03Speaker 1: in terms of what you can do with it. And
- 9:06Speaker 1: I think this is kind of the interesting thing for
- 9:08Speaker 1: me because you know, we have this is something we
- 9:11Speaker 1: do here in South Florida. We have a kind of
- 9:13Speaker 1: a seminar that we do for local businesses and I
- 9:16Speaker 1: introduced this the last time I was doing the seminar,
- 9:20Speaker 1: and it blew their minds that you could actually do
- 9:23Speaker 1: this with a business setup. So is there anything special
- 9:27Speaker 1: that they have to do? If a business says, hey,
- 9:29Speaker 1: I own ten bitcoin, I want to come in and
- 9:32Speaker 1: loan against it, what's the process? Is it as easy
- 9:35Speaker 1: as it is on the personal side it is.
- 9:38Speaker 3: They have to just go through the KYC process for
- 9:41Speaker 3: a business to set up a business account, but they'll
- 9:44Speaker 3: transfer the collateral to Assault account, to Assault wallet and
- 9:48Speaker 3: then they can borrow against it as you would as
- 9:50Speaker 3: an individual. And you know, what we're seeing is a
- 9:54Speaker 3: lot of interest, especially from small and medium sized businesses,
- 9:58Speaker 3: about how they can really daily cost average their way
- 10:02Speaker 3: into bitcoin and other digital assets as a way of
- 10:06Speaker 3: financial stability and financial flexibility. Like a lot of the
- 10:10Speaker 3: treasury management companies are catching the limeline in terms of
- 10:14Speaker 3: the metaplanets and the strategy bs of the world, But
- 10:18Speaker 3: I think that there is a real great lever for
- 10:20Speaker 3: small and medium sized businesses to think about really putting
- 10:25Speaker 3: a lot of capital flexibility into their businesses through investing
- 10:30Speaker 3: and purchasing of bitcoin and other digital assets so that
- 10:33Speaker 3: they don't have to rely on regional banks and going
- 10:36Speaker 3: through loan application processes.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Yeah, Hunter, well that's a good point, because I think
- 10:41Speaker 1: this is something that businesses are now starting to realize.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Do you think we are at that phase now with
- 10:46Speaker 1: obviously the Genius Act coming into play, most likely we're
- 10:50Speaker 1: going to get market clarity this year as well. Do
- 10:53Speaker 1: you think businesses are finally at the stage where they're
- 10:55Speaker 1: going to start putting more bitcoin and other digital assets
- 10:58Speaker 1: on their treasury.
- 11:00Speaker 3: I think so. I mean, one of the things that
- 11:02Speaker 3: excites me the most about bitcoin in particular is I
- 11:06Speaker 3: believe that bitcoin and the tools being built around it
- 11:10Speaker 3: is really democratizing wealth creation. And that's like and what
- 11:14Speaker 3: I mean by that, it's taking a lot of the
- 11:16Speaker 3: strategies and tactics that the ultra wealthy have used and
- 11:19Speaker 3: their businesses that they have owned, and making it available
- 11:23Speaker 3: to anybody above a certain amount. So we have minimum
- 11:26Speaker 3: loan size of ten to that ten five to ten
- 11:29Speaker 3: thousand dollars depending on the jurisdiction, especially in the United States,
- 11:33Speaker 3: and so it's not a huge hurdle to get over
- 11:37Speaker 3: and then you're able to build up that sort of
- 11:40Speaker 3: financial reserve to accomplish your objectives, whatever they may be.
- 11:46Speaker 3: And so whether that is just to make a purchase,
- 11:49Speaker 3: whether it's to do an income supplement or make an
- 11:51Speaker 3: additional investment. I think that capability for both, as we
- 11:56Speaker 3: were touched on earlier, right for people that are finding
- 11:59Speaker 3: those options maybe fewer and far between from a traditional
- 12:02Speaker 3: perspective as well as from a business perspective. I think
- 12:05Speaker 3: we'll create more Hopefully we'll create more resiliency and flexibility
- 12:10Speaker 3: as people start to understand the asset class.
- 12:13Speaker 1: What has been the experience you guys have had with
- 12:16Speaker 1: the way that because I'm sure everybody wants to do
- 12:18Speaker 1: it differently, But how do you maintenance alone? Let's just
- 12:22Speaker 1: we'll just use a round number. It's one hundred K bitcoin.
- 12:25Speaker 1: You know, I go take a loan on that. My
- 12:27Speaker 1: TVL let's say, is around sixty percent. I know you
- 12:31Speaker 1: guys up and go up to seventy. But if I
- 12:33Speaker 1: go in at a sixty percent, so that's a sixty
- 12:35Speaker 1: K loan, how do I maintenance that loan over time?
- 12:39Speaker 3: So we have a couple different options in terms of
- 12:41Speaker 3: how the loans can get structured. We have a we
- 12:44Speaker 3: have a finance interest product where the interest payments can
- 12:47Speaker 3: be bundled into into the loan and so.
- 12:51Speaker 2: You've based to accelerate the value.
- 12:54Speaker 3: And the bitcoin stays well, it's for a fixed period, right,
- 12:58Speaker 3: So if you have one hundred if you have a
- 12:59Speaker 3: sixty thousand dollars loan, and let's say it's at ten percent,
- 13:02Speaker 3: you'd be six thousand dollars worth of interest that would
- 13:05Speaker 3: be bundled into the principal amount, but it basically gives
- 13:09Speaker 3: you flexibility. You don't have to make any monthly payments
- 13:11Speaker 3: at that point and you just have to meet the
- 13:14Speaker 3: margin calls a. We have an interest only option where
- 13:17Speaker 3: you just pay your interest payments monthly, and then we
- 13:19Speaker 3: have an option for principal and interest, and some of
- 13:22Speaker 3: those choices are jurisdictionally driven as well, like certain jurisdictions
- 13:27Speaker 3: mandate one or the other or exclude one or the
- 13:30Speaker 3: other in terms of a customer's choice, But that's sort
- 13:34Speaker 3: of the standard loan structure. And then for there the
- 13:39Speaker 3: customer really gets put in control in terms of what
- 13:41Speaker 3: is the LTV that you want to how much do
- 13:45Speaker 3: you want to sort of borrow against the value r
- 13:47Speaker 3: bitcoin And we go up to as you were mentioned,
- 13:49Speaker 3: we go up to seventy percent loan to value ratio.
- 13:53Speaker 3: But we have a lot of customers that stay down
- 13:55Speaker 3: in the twenty percent thirty percent LTV range because that
- 14:00Speaker 3: fits their risk profile. And so some of the education
- 14:03Speaker 3: that we do when customers on board is help them
- 14:06Speaker 3: understand how LTV can be used as a tool to
- 14:11Speaker 3: manage their risk and how much they need to be
- 14:14Speaker 3: staying on top of sort of the margin call process,
- 14:18Speaker 3: and that changes for people depending on how much cash
- 14:22Speaker 3: reserves or other assets they may be able to bring
- 14:25Speaker 3: to bear if needed.
- 14:27Speaker 1: So, okay, well let's talk about that because we have
- 14:31Speaker 1: a lot of audience that owns bitcoins, they have some ethereum,
- 14:33Speaker 1: they have XRP, they might have Salona, whatever it might be.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Is there any plan in the future with salt to
- 14:40Speaker 1: be able to incorporate other digital assets?
- 14:43Speaker 3: So we do. So we have we allow people to
- 14:46Speaker 3: have a portfolio of assets as collateral against a single loan.
- 14:50Speaker 3: So you can have a theorum, you can have bitcoin,
- 14:53Speaker 3: you can have stable coin and borrow against it. In fact,
- 14:56Speaker 3: we have a lot of people that add stable coin
- 14:58Speaker 3: into their collatter mix to help take out some of
- 15:02Speaker 3: the volatility of bitcoin. Say, for example, interesting, okay, so
- 15:07Speaker 3: you could you could have one hundred thousand dollars worth
- 15:09Speaker 3: of bitcoin plus thirty thousand dollars worth a stable coin
- 15:13Speaker 3: in your collateral wallet to be able to then borrow
- 15:17Speaker 3: against one hundred and thirty thousand dollars worth of collateral value.
- 15:22Speaker 3: But the effective, the effective, the impact of that is
- 15:26Speaker 3: that takes out some of the volatility of bitcoin.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Well, and I think you know, as we see markets dip,
- 15:32Speaker 1: this is typically where you see smart investors go, wait
- 15:36Speaker 1: a minute, I'm going to go in and buy this.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Dip utilizes that the as the market starts to accelerate,
- 15:41Speaker 1: up pocketed into a loan, you know, utility, and then
- 15:45Speaker 1: lend against that in the future and arbitrage into the market.
- 15:48Speaker 1: So it's definitely a simple way to go that route.
- 15:52Speaker 1: My question is when you look at the amount of
- 15:55Speaker 1: opportunity that is here and someone parking Let's just use
- 15:59Speaker 1: big coin as the example.
- 16:01Speaker 2: We'll go back to ten bitcoin.
- 16:03Speaker 1: I know that's a lot of guys, but you know,
- 16:05Speaker 1: just in general, you can put that down into one
- 16:08Speaker 1: whatever you want to kind of base that, and you've
- 16:11Speaker 1: got to let's say you only go a thirty LTV
- 16:13Speaker 1: thirty percent is all I'm loaning against one hundred that
- 16:16Speaker 1: we'll just use one hundred thousand bitcoin. What happens to
- 16:19Speaker 1: the rest of that asset class that's there? Can I
- 16:23Speaker 1: use that for something else down the road?
- 16:27Speaker 2: Is it going to be.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Parked in there all the time waiting for me to
- 16:30Speaker 1: lend or pay out of it? What's the mechanism that
- 16:33Speaker 1: I can do within the Salt platform to kind of
- 16:35Speaker 1: manage that.
- 16:36Speaker 3: So within the Salt platform, it's in when it's against
- 16:39Speaker 3: the loan, it is in your collateral count against the loan,
- 16:42Speaker 3: and it is there sort of backing up the loan.
- 16:44Speaker 3: Now you could refinance your loan and take additional cash out.
- 16:48Speaker 3: We have a lot of customers that look at it
- 16:50Speaker 3: almost treat sort of that that untapped sort of cash potential.
- 16:56Speaker 2: As a line of credit, line of credit.
- 16:58Speaker 3: So will they will cust essentially custody their bitcoin with
- 17:03Speaker 3: us and borrow against what they need, but then continue
- 17:05Speaker 3: to draw down on it as they have other needs
- 17:08Speaker 3: as they go forward. We also have a product called
- 17:13Speaker 3: lend where if you wanted to move some if you're
- 17:16Speaker 3: an accredit investor, you can move some of that ten
- 17:19Speaker 3: bitcoin that you don't need against your loan into a
- 17:23Speaker 3: lend account and earn a yield on the bitcoin.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Okay, all right, so that's is that available right now?
- 17:31Speaker 1: That's I'm looking at your website. Is that available or
- 17:35Speaker 1: is that done with private clients? How's that done?
- 17:38Speaker 3: Is done with private? You have to be an accredited
- 17:40Speaker 3: investor to be able to use that product, but it
- 17:42Speaker 3: is available on the platform.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Okay. Interesting?
- 17:45Speaker 1: So okay, So I know you guys are crafting a
- 17:48Speaker 1: book right now that is talking about kind of this
- 17:51Speaker 1: next evolution of finance, and we're really you know, we
- 17:55Speaker 1: kind of touched on it there for a minute in
- 17:57Speaker 1: the sense of people looking at digital assets is really
- 17:59Speaker 1: kind of new, you know, American dream or global dream.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Now, what are you.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Guys finding in your discovery of getting this book out
- 18:08Speaker 1: that's making you even more bullish on where this market
- 18:11Speaker 1: is going?
- 18:13Speaker 3: Well, I'm you know, really excited. I just got back
- 18:15Speaker 3: from speaking at Bitcoin Asia, which was in Hong Kong
- 18:19Speaker 3: last week, and I mean there were over twenty thousand
- 18:23Speaker 3: people that came to the show. Wow, and it was
- 18:26Speaker 3: it was just fantastic to see the level of interest
- 18:28Speaker 3: in sort of the Asia Pacific region. I was able
- 18:32Speaker 3: to have conversations with people from Singapore, from Hong Kong,
- 18:35Speaker 3: from mainland China, from Malaysia, in Vietnam, and just a
- 18:40Speaker 3: range of countries in the interest level of how how
- 18:46Speaker 3: can I use bitcoin to build wealth? A lot of
- 18:48Speaker 3: the you know, a lot of the individuals I spoke with,
- 18:51Speaker 3: they don't have a lot of confidence in their national
- 18:53Speaker 3: stock markets. As we talked to, you know, the the
- 18:57Speaker 3: hurdle to buying a house in some of those countries
- 19:00Speaker 3: is even more or even higher than what it is
- 19:02Speaker 3: in the United States. I think the average age of
- 19:04Speaker 3: first time home ownership in Hong Kong, for example, is
- 19:08Speaker 3: forty wow. So you know, there's a lot of wealth
- 19:13Speaker 3: that is looking to say, well, where can I put
- 19:15Speaker 3: it to have sort of flexibility with it, to have
- 19:19Speaker 3: sort of appreciation opportunities. And the other element is like
- 19:23Speaker 3: where it's protected. You know, Sean and I, as we've
- 19:26Speaker 3: been thinking about the bitcoin and sort of what is
- 19:28Speaker 3: the bitcoin advantage, There's been three words that have really
- 19:31Speaker 3: come to mind. One is, you know, one is sort
- 19:35Speaker 3: of protect right, So how do people protect their assets
- 19:39Speaker 3: in terms of, you know, being able to buy into
- 19:43Speaker 3: it when they want to buy into it, not having
- 19:44Speaker 3: it taken away, being able to send it where they
- 19:47Speaker 3: want to send it. The second one is preserved. They
- 19:50Speaker 3: want to preserve the value, so they want to have
- 19:52Speaker 3: an asset class and an investment opportunity that fights inflation.
- 19:57Speaker 3: And then the third one is prosper and people want
- 20:00Speaker 3: to be able to build up the wealth and borrow
- 20:02Speaker 3: against it as they do with home equity lines of
- 20:04Speaker 3: credit and not have to sell and give up the
- 20:07Speaker 3: future upside. And you know, as we talked about, I
- 20:09Speaker 3: think bitcoin as an asset class, especially with more and
- 20:13Speaker 3: more countries and larger corporates coming into the ecosystem, is
- 20:19Speaker 3: helping one raise the awareness but also raise the stability
- 20:23Speaker 3: and the value of the asset class as a whole.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I think we are going to see an evolution
- 20:29Speaker 1: in this. We're obviously leaning against you, you know, your assets.
- 20:34Speaker 1: It's not new. This is something that's been around for ages.
- 20:36Speaker 1: It's how the wealthy accrue wealth. And if you're going
- 20:40Speaker 1: into asset classes that are doing what we're seeing right
- 20:43Speaker 1: now in digital assets, and that is going up, and
- 20:45Speaker 1: especially as you look at dollar debasement. You know, we
- 20:48Speaker 1: just saw the FED numbers continue to see job decline.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Credit is at an all time high. These are issues
- 20:54Speaker 1: that are really going to start what I think is
- 20:56Speaker 1: going to be a problem with hyperinflation, which is only
- 20:59Speaker 1: going to push these digital assets higher. So I think
- 21:02Speaker 1: if anybody's looking at it, now is the time to
- 21:04Speaker 1: kind of go into that hunter. It's been good having
