- 0:00Speaker 1: I am Sherry Mackie. It's time for us to go
- 0:03Speaker 1: to God in prayer, and as always I invite you
- 0:06Speaker 1: to join along with me in prayer. And on this
- 0:09Speaker 1: ash Wednesday, I want to pray about what this means
- 0:14Speaker 1: for us. Gracious and merciful God, on this ash Wednesday,
- 0:19Speaker 1: we come before you humbled, quieted and aware of our
- 0:23Speaker 1: need for You. God. We remember that we are dust,
- 0:28Speaker 1: and to dust we shall return. God. We remember how
- 0:31Speaker 1: fragile we are, how temporary life truly is, how quickly
- 0:36Speaker 1: days pass, plans change in hearts grow weary, Lord, today
- 0:41Speaker 1: we pause, We stop striving, we stop pretending, We stop
- 0:47Speaker 1: hiding behind our titles, our accomplishments in our busyness, and
- 0:51Speaker 1: we stand before you as we truly are, in need
- 0:55Speaker 1: of mercy, in need of grace, in need of cleansing.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Search us, o, God, search our hearts, search our motives.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Search the places we've ignored, we've buried, and we've tried
- 1:09Speaker 1: to forget. Forgive us for the things we've done that
- 1:12Speaker 1: grieved your heart. Forgive us for the things we failed
- 1:15Speaker 1: to do when you called us to act. Forgive us
- 1:18Speaker 1: God for loving comfort more than obedience. Forgive us for
- 1:21Speaker 1: choosing pride over humility, and fear over faith, and our
- 1:26Speaker 1: selfishness oversul Lord. We lay down our sins today, the
- 1:31Speaker 1: bitterness we've carried, the resentment we've nurtured, the unforgiveness that
- 1:35Speaker 1: has hardened our hearts, the habits that have kept us struck. God,
- 1:39Speaker 1: we bring them to the altar today. We bring them
- 1:42Speaker 1: to the cross. We bring them to You. Create in
- 1:44Speaker 1: us a clean heart, O, God, renew a right spirit
- 1:48Speaker 1: within us. Burn away God what does not belong, and
- 1:51Speaker 1: strip away from us anything that keeps us from walking
- 1:55Speaker 1: closely to you. God, Let this season not just be
- 1:59Speaker 1: about ash is on our foreheads, but transformation in our hearts. God,
- 2:04Speaker 1: as we begin this Lenten journey, teach us to fast
- 2:09Speaker 1: form what weakens us and feast on what strengthens us.
- 2:13Speaker 1: To let go of distractions, and to draw near to
- 2:16Speaker 1: your presence. To quiet our voices, God, and to listen
- 2:19Speaker 1: to yours. Lord. Turn our ashes into beauty, Turn our
- 2:23Speaker 1: brokenness into holdness. Turn our sorrow into repentance that leads
- 2:28Speaker 1: to joy. God. Remind us that even in our dust,
- 2:33Speaker 1: you still breathe life. Even in our failures, God, you
- 2:37Speaker 1: still offer grace even in our sins, you extend mercy.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Thank you God, Thank you that repentance is not about shame,
- 2:48Speaker 1: but it's about freedom, not about condemnation but restoration. Not
- 2:52Speaker 1: about what we've done, but about who you truly are. God.
- 2:57Speaker 1: We surrender this season to you. You shape us, God,
- 3:00Speaker 1: you refine us, and you renew us from ashes to
- 3:03Speaker 1: new life. We place our hearts in your hands in
- 3:07Speaker 1: Jesus' name. Amen, Amen, and Amen,
