- 0:05Speaker 1: Here we are a third hour of the Morning Show
- 0:06Speaker 1: with Prustin Scott with you this morning. Dismissed from jury
- 0:09Speaker 1: duty over the weekend. So I am here fulfilling my
- 0:13Speaker 1: duties the best that I possibly can those days over
- 0:17Speaker 1: there in Studio one A. I am here in Studio
- 0:19Speaker 1: one B, and I am joined by our dear friend,
- 0:21Speaker 1: Jerome Hudson, entertainment editor Brybar dot com, author of the
- 0:25Speaker 1: fifty Things books. Hello, sir, how are you?
- 0:28Speaker 2: Good morning? Good morning, good morning? I have to know.
- 0:33Speaker 2: How did you do it? What did you tell them?
- 0:35Speaker 1: Nothing? Did you No? I didn't even get to show up. Look. Look,
- 0:40Speaker 1: the last time I got asked to show up for
- 0:43Speaker 1: jury duty, I spent six months on the Grand Jury While. Yeah,
- 0:48Speaker 1: So I was like, okay, here we go. And I
- 0:53Speaker 1: got the text and then then the attached email that
- 0:57Speaker 1: said you are number such and such and such and
- 0:59Speaker 1: such you are dismissed. I was like, right, come on,
- 1:05Speaker 1: so I'm I'm look, I'm fine serving. I'm just fine,
- 1:09Speaker 1: not serving too exactly.
- 1:11Speaker 2: No, Well, they'll get your next friend.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Hey, look, let me. I would imagine this is almost
- 1:19Speaker 1: like asking what's your favorite dessert? But what's your favorite
- 1:26Speaker 1: thing that happened last week in the first week of
- 1:29Speaker 1: Donald Trump as president.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Sort of anecdotal, and it wasn't one conversation that I had.
- 1:41Speaker 2: It was sort of a string of conversations sometimes with
- 1:44Speaker 2: people who the strangest thing yesterday just talking to a
- 1:51Speaker 2: friend relate a story about how their friend found my
- 1:59Speaker 2: my my trump book, and you know, it was just
- 2:05Speaker 2: sort of reading through it around the time of the inauguration.
- 2:10Speaker 2: In terms of policy, I'll shut up and answer your question.
- 2:13Speaker 2: I love the raids because doctor Phil McGraw is embedded
- 2:20Speaker 2: apparently with ICE as they detained sexual sexual predators and
- 2:26Speaker 2: terrorists in Chicago right now. The raids, the ICE raids
- 2:31Speaker 2: have to be my favorite. The way in which Jenny
- 2:34Speaker 2: vance Uh conducted himself during the CBS interview yesterday. He
- 2:42Speaker 2: was talking about Catholic institutions coming out, you know, saying
- 2:49Speaker 2: that you know, it's it's it's it's blasphemous, it's dangerous,
- 2:55Speaker 2: it's it's anti Catholic to spend rules that ICE agents
- 3:01Speaker 2: can't actually apprehend suspects that they've determined to be unlawfully
- 3:07Speaker 2: in the country. Number One, but certainly dangerous to the
- 3:10Speaker 2: community is that those ICE agents can't conduct those target
- 3:14Speaker 2: and arrests and operations in faith institutions, specifically Catholic churches.
- 3:20Speaker 1: I just.
- 3:22Speaker 2: The people who have been exposed, for the people who've
- 3:26Speaker 2: suffered so senselessly under Joe Biden's policies, the families who've
- 3:33Speaker 2: lost loved ones ope legally here, you know, families have
- 3:38Speaker 2: had to bury their children, whether it be overdose or
- 3:42Speaker 2: some drug driving accident or really raped and murdered. That
- 3:48Speaker 2: feeling of vindication for so many people. Again, so much
- 3:51Speaker 2: of this could have been mitigated, but can't change the past.
- 3:54Speaker 2: And so I'm just happy that, as my mother would say,
- 4:01Speaker 2: you know, things are finally starting to get back to
- 4:04Speaker 2: being done with decency and order.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Jerome, let's switch and talk a little so cal here.
- 4:11Speaker 1: I couldn't help, but notice Julia Roberts suddenly didn't have
- 4:15Speaker 1: a lot of tolerance for looters when it came into
- 4:17Speaker 1: her neighborhood and her buddy's neighborhoods offered a big f
- 4:21Speaker 1: you looters when she supported such actions, basically when it
- 4:25Speaker 1: was during George Floyd and in other cities. Is the
- 4:31Speaker 1: worm turning because of the fires? Are these illiberal elitists
- 4:36Speaker 1: going to finally sort of get fed up with the
- 4:39Speaker 1: status quo of California.
- 4:43Speaker 2: In California has the largest number of Republicans in any
- 4:48Speaker 2: state in the Union. Right, it's got to most people.
- 4:52Speaker 2: But for a long time, I think I think, I
- 4:58Speaker 2: think the status quo sort of the operating assumption was
- 5:03Speaker 2: that you shouldn't expect that much from your elected officials.
- 5:07Speaker 2: I think that change certainly before COVID. But after COVID,
- 5:12Speaker 2: the relationship, if you will, between the people and the
- 5:15Speaker 2: government was fundamentally altered in a way that none of us,
- 5:19Speaker 2: I think, were prepared for. And you know, again getting
- 5:24Speaker 2: back to things being exposed, I just think people in California,
- 5:29Speaker 2: I think, you know what you're gonna get when you
- 5:31Speaker 2: live out there, especially working class people right, probably gonna
- 5:35Speaker 2: have to work two jobs to enjoy all the great weather,
- 5:40Speaker 2: the great scenery, just the plethora of just things you
- 5:46Speaker 2: can do out there. I love California. You know, obviously,
- 5:50Speaker 2: Andrew Breitbart's headquarters is in Brentwood, Los Angeles. But when
- 5:57Speaker 2: it came to, you know, having a examples of say,
- 6:01Speaker 2: for instance, natural disasters happening, so in Florida, people saw
- 6:06Speaker 2: the preparedness even going back to Jeb Bush, but more
- 6:09Speaker 2: poignantly with Ron DeSantis and how he would handle these
- 6:15Speaker 2: natural disasters that you could be prepared. You could have
- 6:19Speaker 2: you know, linement, tens of thousands of them ready to
- 6:22Speaker 2: respond to power outages. And when it came to you know,
- 6:29Speaker 2: situations like the education system, the radicalization of children as
- 6:35Speaker 2: young as seven and eight years old in third grade,
- 6:38Speaker 2: there was a response again, you know, in Florida to
- 6:43Speaker 2: how Disney tried to politicize the classroom, sexualized children. That
- 6:49Speaker 2: wasn't the same way. And you started to see, you know,
- 6:52Speaker 2: school board members in San Francisco, California use their job.
- 6:56Speaker 2: You look at policing and long form the same way
- 7:01Speaker 2: the lap D, many of them are in console contact
- 7:04Speaker 2: with reporters in the Bretbart newsroom. Often felt like no
- 7:09Speaker 2: one was on their side. It was it was the prosecutors.
- 7:14Speaker 2: In many cases, it was these unelected citizen advisory boards.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Everyone was against law enforcement. And it all preston. One
- 7:27Speaker 2: after another of these dominoes kept falling and it was
- 7:31Speaker 2: it was too much and you and again you'd see
- 7:34Speaker 2: in elections the people fighting back, and I think after
- 7:39Speaker 2: Kamala Harris loss, sort of the things that, particularly the
- 7:46Speaker 2: entertainment industry, the leftist in Silicon Valley, where Kamala Harris
- 7:53Speaker 2: really rose to power thanks to their generosity, they all
- 7:58Speaker 2: took it for granted. They all just sort of assume
- 8:00Speaker 2: that she would win, that their their arguments were right,
- 8:04Speaker 2: that their popularity would once again get her over the
- 8:08Speaker 2: finish line, that people would see that Donald Trump was
- 8:11Speaker 2: this dangerous representative of the dark mago or whatever Joe
- 8:14Speaker 2: Biden's calling him, and that and that didn't happen. And
- 8:19Speaker 2: so it was the confluence of all of these things.
- 8:21Speaker 2: I mean, it's the fish scales are really thick in
- 8:26Speaker 2: that place. I'll never forget a conversation that I had
- 8:28Speaker 2: sitting at a bar in some West Hollywood promenague with
- 8:32Speaker 2: a woman for three hours. President. The first hour and
- 8:35Speaker 2: a half, you know, we talked about politics, We talked
- 8:39Speaker 2: about Andrew Bradbark's legacy, how the media is, you know,
- 8:42Speaker 2: it was this billion, multi billion dollar, you know, a
- 8:47Speaker 2: fake news machine. And she said to me that she
- 8:51Speaker 2: loves Brad Parks, she loves what we do. But she
- 8:55Speaker 2: she promised me that she that I would never that
- 8:58Speaker 2: I would never repeat a thing that was said in
- 9:01Speaker 2: that conversation she worked in real estate, and an actual
- 9:04Speaker 2: chill went down my spy and I only relay that
- 9:07Speaker 2: that anecdote to say that even people who agree with
- 9:11Speaker 2: you and I, perhaps most of the people in this audience,
- 9:15Speaker 2: they live under fear of reprisal for just having opinions
- 9:21Speaker 2: about politics that aren't popular, and that is that is shifting.
- 9:26Speaker 2: The reality TV stars, the A List stars are all
- 9:31Speaker 2: coming out now. It's not a very long limb for
- 9:35Speaker 2: Kim Kardashian or for that matter, her sister Chloe Kardashian
- 9:39Speaker 2: to stand out on. But I mean, having been in
- 9:44Speaker 2: news for longer than I can do the math right now,
- 9:47Speaker 2: I don't think I would have ever imagined, you know,
- 9:50Speaker 2: seeing the highest echelons of celebrity culture calling out a
- 9:57Speaker 2: sitting Democrat in one of the bluest cities, uh in America.
- 10:02Speaker 2: And I mean, that's a culture shift that I don't
- 10:06Speaker 2: think can be overstated.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Jerome is the entertainment editor at Brightbard dot com. So
- 10:10Speaker 1: I'm gonna throw you one right down the middle of
- 10:12Speaker 1: the plate. What is the purpose of mel Gibson, Slice Stallone,
- 10:17Speaker 1: and John Voight being tabbed by President Trump ambassadors for
- 10:23Speaker 1: what purpose.
- 10:28Speaker 2: It's it's I think it's so. I think it's more symbolic.
- 10:32Speaker 2: So those three gentlemen are in their own rights, very
- 10:37Speaker 2: recognizable both in the industry, and you know, just just
- 10:42Speaker 2: you know, you probably talked to one hundred people, A
- 10:44Speaker 2: good percentage of them would recognize all three of those names,
- 10:49Speaker 2: and for for all for very different reasons. They both
- 10:52Speaker 2: you know, have varying degrees of respect in the industry,
- 10:56Speaker 2: and that is something that has been lacking for a
- 10:59Speaker 2: long time. I literally was having this conversation with an
- 11:04Speaker 2: officer and a gentleman last night at dinner, talking about
- 11:08Speaker 2: how the movie star is no more right. And even
- 11:13Speaker 2: if you throw out a name like Tom Cruise, well
- 11:17Speaker 2: he's been sixty years old for a long time, or
- 11:20Speaker 2: Harrison Ford, and even people like Robert de Niro. I
- 11:25Speaker 2: think people think about Robert de Niro now, they probably
- 11:29Speaker 2: think about his profanity, lace rants against Donald Trump more
- 11:33Speaker 2: than they do some iconic role that he started not
- 11:38Speaker 2: decades ago, like you know, Raging Bull, but recently even
- 11:42Speaker 2: decades ago, like the Fokkers. And so it's symbolic in
- 11:47Speaker 2: the sense that people in the industry, preston I mean,
- 11:51Speaker 2: just talking to a former executive of Disney a couple
- 11:54Speaker 2: of weeks ago. People people want to just entery. They
- 12:00Speaker 2: really just don't want politics. And if you talk about diversity, equity, inclusion,
- 12:05Speaker 2: you know, investing the corporate sector or the military. I mean,
- 12:10Speaker 2: one of the deepest hives is in Hollywood. It's I mean,
- 12:15Speaker 2: it's the it's the place that preaches about the rest
- 12:18Speaker 2: of the country being bigoted and sexist and that stuff,
- 12:23Speaker 2: those isms. I mean, it's a it's a deep culture
- 12:26Speaker 2: out there. And so the President is a showman probably first.
- 12:31Speaker 2: You know, you just look no further than the inauguration
- 12:34Speaker 2: and the TV entertaining spectacle that that was in an
- 12:38Speaker 2: amazing way. The President deeply cares about American institutions, and
- 12:43Speaker 2: Hollywood is an American institution for better of course, and
- 12:47Speaker 2: it has been hurting in the hundreds of thousands of
- 12:50Speaker 2: blue collar many of them union members. These are signals
- 12:55Speaker 2: that Donald Trump is sending to those people. He is
- 12:58Speaker 2: saying that I hear you, I know that this industry
- 13:00Speaker 2: is struggling, and Hollywood is struggling. And there are there
- 13:04Speaker 2: are hundreds of thousands of blue collar people who many
- 13:08Speaker 2: of them probably supported Donald Trump, who are hurting as well.
- 13:13Speaker 2: And so to lift up Hollywood is to lift up
- 13:17Speaker 2: in many ways people who are now in Donald Trump's
- 13:20Speaker 2: base who probably weren't in twenty fifteen or sixty.
- 13:24Speaker 1: It's going to be interesting to see if make Hollywood
- 13:28Speaker 1: Great Again takes some takes root. Because right now, right now,
- 13:33Speaker 1: from a populis standpoint, everything Donald Trump is touching, He's
- 13:36Speaker 1: got the Midas touch.
- 13:42Speaker 2: You know, I had this conversation. I hosted our program
- 13:47Speaker 2: Bright Barton Is Daily on Serious XM on Friday, and
- 13:52Speaker 2: I had this conversation through the lens of sort of
- 13:55Speaker 2: the sports right. You know, I'm a Jaguars fan, to
- 14:00Speaker 2: the tune of too much money a year on tickets.
- 14:04Speaker 2: And you know, teams draft the MLB, NHL, you have
- 14:09Speaker 2: these drafts and you don't really know what a draft
- 14:13Speaker 2: prospect will be. You don't know what that picture will
- 14:16Speaker 2: be when you draft them, but you hope that there
- 14:18Speaker 2: will be something right. And Donald Trump losing the twenty
- 14:22Speaker 2: twenty election, you know, it happened for a reason. You
- 14:26Speaker 2: believe that. I believe that. I'm sure maybe most in
- 14:29Speaker 2: the audience believed that, but I didn't see this. Preston,
- 14:35Speaker 2: you know, right, and when I say that, like I again,
- 14:39Speaker 2: I studied Donald Trump's policies for over a year. I
- 14:42Speaker 2: wrote a book about them. What I constantly try not
- 14:46Speaker 2: to take for granted is the other side, like the
- 14:50Speaker 2: Democratic Party, Like we're talking about birthright citizenship right now,
- 14:54Speaker 2: you got seconds? The party exists.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Huh, you got thirty seconds?
- 14:59Speaker 2: Oh, I'm sorry. Well, our best days are ahead of us,
- 15:05Speaker 2: and I just don't think that people would have able
- 15:07Speaker 2: to have been able to say that and believe that Kamala
- 15:10Speaker 2: Harris won. So even if you didn't vote for the president,
- 15:14Speaker 2: pray for him, support him because I truly believe that
- 15:17Speaker 2: he has our best interesting part. You know, we'll see.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Good to visit with you, my friend. We'll talk again
- 15:25Speaker 1: next month.
- 15:26Speaker 2: I love you so much. Thank you, love you.
