Latest / Mom Street USA / 131. The Best Things to Do at Disney World Without a Park Ticket
Transcript
- 0:05Welcome everybody to another episode of Mom St.
- 0:07USAI am your host Jackie. And on today's episode we are
- 0:11talking about things outside of the Disney parks.
- 0:14Now we're still talking about Disney, of course, but today we
- 0:18are going to focus on different activities and things that you
- 0:21can do outside of the Disney parks, but still on Disney
- 0:24property. So this is a topic that we
- 0:26covered on Mom St. couple years back, but I wanted to revisit
- 0:30some of the information here to kind of jog your memory and mine
- 0:35and to kind of help anybody who might be in need of this coming
- 0:39up for summer trips, fall trips, holiday trips for this year.
- 0:44So that is the goal for today. So Walt Disney World has so much
- 0:49to do. So stuff inside of the parks is
- 0:51obviously the focus for most visitors that go to Disney
- 0:55World, but there is so much to do outside of the parks.
- 0:57Also today we're to chat about some of the options for
- 1:00activities to do outside of the parks.
- 1:03Do keep in mind that some of these activities may change
- 1:07based on the time of year as far as availability goes.
- 1:11And Disney does tend to add, adjust, remove things that they
- 1:14offer as the crowd levels dictate.
- 1:17And we'll talk a little bit about that with some of the
- 1:18things later on. You'll see like the times that
- 1:20they offer may change, things like that.
- 1:22So always be sure to look this up for your time of year because
- 1:26it may be a little bit different than the information that I'm
- 1:29going to give you today. So we're going to start off with
- 1:32one of the activities outside of the parks that I think is I
- 1:36would say it's most talked about or it's frequently talked about
- 1:39and a lot of people do know about that.
- 1:41And that is the different types of golf that you can do down at
- 1:44Disney World. So three different things that
- 1:47we're going to talk about under this kind of a golf category.
- 1:50The first being your traditional golf courses, right?
- 1:53So Disney has several PGA level golf courses on property.
- 1:58There are 318 hole courses and there is 19 hole course.
- 2:03So with all of these, the prices do vary based on the tee time
- 2:08and the time of year. So as you're looking things up,
- 2:11you're going to have to kind of do some searching around to see
- 2:14generally speaking, what the prices look like for your time
- 2:17of year. But overall the prices range
- 2:20anywhere from if you are going like last minute or you're
- 2:25filling in an extra space on a tee time, they can be as low as
- 2:28$25 or they can range all the way up to like $130.00.
- 2:34Now, that's typically for or the 130 end, right, is typically for
- 2:38a tee time that is up to four people.
- 2:40But you will also find sometimes that like if you're a group of
- 2:43two and another group of two does the same tee time, you may
- 2:46end up together, you know, kind of standard when it comes to
- 2:49that at golf courses. Discounts are given to annual
- 2:52pass holders, DVC members, military and Florida residents.
- 2:56So that's a really nice perk of being able to go golfing on
- 2:59these really, really nice Disney courses.
- 3:03So the courses that are the 18 hole courses are the Palm, the
- 3:06Magnolia and Lake Buena Vista. And then the for the 9 hole
- 3:11course, it's a little bit different.
- 3:12The cost of these typically range anywhere from 28 to $45.00
- 3:17for tee times again that are typically one to four people
- 3:20depending on the time that you're reserving and who else
- 3:24has reserved maybe a similar time.
- 3:26The same discounts apply for this as well.
- 3:28So APDVC military and Florida residents and that the name of
- 3:33that course is Oak Trail. Both of these courses do also
- 3:37offer equipment rentals. So if you do not want to travel
- 3:40with your golf clubs, if you don't want to fly with them or
- 3:43there's no room in the car if you're driving down, you can do
- 3:46equipment rentals there as well. And they've got some really nice
- 3:49name brand options for you. Do note that the 9 hole course
- 3:54does not have golf carts that they allow, but they do have
- 3:57wheelie little carts for your bag and those things that you
- 4:02can choose to use because they don't offer the golf carts.
- 4:05But the 18 hole courses do have golf carts that you can use
- 4:08also. So that is a really fun activity
- 4:11to do. I know that when we went last
- 4:13year, my brother-in-law and my dad went golfing at one of the
- 4:17courses and had a really nice time.
- 4:19They said the course was beautiful.
- 4:21Occasionally you may see some Florida wildlife wandering
- 4:24around, which is a fun little aspect of being at Disney.
- 4:27And there are some little Disney touches.
- 4:29Some of the, you know, sand traps are shaped like Mickey
- 4:33heads and some of the little like the whole markers and stuff
- 4:37have characters on them. Those those little Disney
- 4:40touches that you would expect from a Disney golf course.
- 4:42So super fun options if you are looking for true golf while you
- 4:48are down at Disney. Now that last course that we
- 4:51were talking about Oak Trail does offer something a little
- 4:55bit different than the traditional golf and that is
- 4:59foot golf. So if you're familiar with foot
- 5:02golf or not, it's basically the idea of golf but played with a
- 5:08soccer ball and you use your feet instead of a Golf Club.
- 5:12So really, really fun option if you've got some soccer fans or
- 5:17some golf fans that maybe want to try something different on
- 5:20this course. It is only offered at Oak Trail
- 5:23at that 9 hole course. It is 25 to $35 per tea time.
- 5:28And again, those are for one to four people.
- 5:30So super affordable option, especially if you're going as a
- 5:33group of four. Really, really affordable option
- 5:36for something to do with a few hours of your time.
- 5:39Now, Speaking of the hours, the hours for this are a little bit
- 5:43more restrictive. The hours for the standard golf,
- 5:46gosh, it's like 6:30 AM all the way until dark, right?
- 5:50And they do actually do different rates, I should
- 5:52mention for what they call like twilight golf, where like you
- 5:56have a later tee time and it's not guaranteed that you're going
- 5:59to get through the entire course.
- 6:00They offer like discounts for that.
- 6:02Those are all on the the website when you go to look it up.
- 6:05But with foot golf, it is more restricted to the evening hours
- 6:10for when it is available because they have to swap out the GG
- 6:15holes with the foot golf holes, right?
- 6:18So they're not going to leave those standard golf holes in.
- 6:23They're going to exchange them out for bigger ones that the
- 6:25soccer ball will fit in. So depending on the time of year
- 6:28depends on when you can start to book a foot golf tee time.
- 6:34If you're traveling November, December into the beginning of
- 6:38January, it's available after 3:00 PM.
- 6:41If it's the rest of January, February into March, it's after
- 6:474:00 PM. And then March, April, May,
- 6:50June, July, August, September, October, yeah, it is available
- 6:56after 5:00 PM. So keep that in mind if you're
- 7:00looking to book. So you know, kind of time frame
- 7:03what you're looking at. And then also it is only
- 7:06available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and
- 7:11Sundays. So again, more restrictive as
- 7:13far as when you can go, but it makes sense because they do have
- 7:16to go through maintenance wise and switch out those holes to be
- 7:21the foot golf holes instead. Now since this game is played on
- 7:25a golf course, do keep in mind also that the basic uniform in
- 7:30air quotes here of foot golf is similar to the traditional golf
- 7:35apparel. You want some sort of an indoor
- 7:37soccer shoe, running shoe, tennis shoe to be able to
- 7:41protect your feet from potential injury while you're out on the
- 7:44course. I love that they put on their
- 7:47website because I got this right off their website and I had to
- 7:50copy and paste this word for word because it made me giggle.
- 7:53It does say knee length Argyle socks are customary but not
- 7:57necessary as is the use of a flat cap.
- 8:00I just, I love that description as far as what they anticipate
- 8:07you wearing or suggest that you wear to go play foot golf, which
- 8:10is super fun. But they do mention also
- 8:13appropriate non offensive golf or athletic tires.
- 8:15Also recommended jeans or jeans shorts are not permitted.
- 8:19And do keep in mind also that soccer cleats or soccer boots,
- 8:23whatever you choose to refer to them as are not permitted for
- 8:27play. So they don't want those thicker
- 8:32cleats on the bottom of your shoes on their golf course.
- 8:35So you've got to have flat bottom shoes if you are planning
- 8:38to play. So tennis shoes are a great
- 8:40option, indoor soccer shoes, any of that that you have are
- 8:43perfect for playing foot golf. Now onto our third type of golf,
- 8:47something completely different and that's miniature golf.
- 8:49This one, I think a lot of people do know about that.
- 8:52It is available on Disney property, but I also don't think
- 8:55enough people take advantage of this.
- 8:57If you book a package, oftentimes with your package you
- 9:01get little vouchers that are included in that package for
- 9:05mini golf. Now, if you book a package and
- 9:07you don't get that, they usually will upload it directly to your
- 9:11account on your My Disney Experience app.
- 9:14So you can find that under where you would find like your tickets
- 9:17and passes. It is on there.
- 9:18So you can make sure that you see it there.
- 9:21If you don't see it there, go to the front desk of your resort if
- 9:24you booked a package and and ask them about it because sometimes
- 9:28they they used to always send them out in like card stock,
- 9:31like paper form, but they've really gotten away from that.
- 9:34So sometimes they don't always get added to your account.
- 9:36So be sure to check into that if you don't see it on your My
- 9:40Disney Experience account. But there are two different
- 9:43miniature golf courses at Disney.
- 9:46The first we're going to talk about is the Fantasia Gardens.
- 9:49This features 218 hole courses and it is themed to Fantasia.
- 9:53So a ton of your favorite characters that you see in the
- 9:56movie and the different shorts inside of Fantasia are featured
- 9:59throughout these different holes.
- 10:02For cost wise this is $19.00 for adults and $12.00 per child and
- 10:08that is the same range 3 to 9 that Disney uses for all of
- 10:11their children. Rates for everything for this
- 10:14walkups are welcome. You're welcome to just go
- 10:17whenever it's convenient. You can also make a reservation
- 10:20if you choose to. I would gather to believe that
- 10:2495% of the people that play mini golf just walk up and go.
- 10:28I don't know very many people that are making reservations for
- 10:31mini golf just because again, like I said, I think they're
- 10:33just underutilized at the parks. But super cute theme, really fun
- 10:38activity that you can do with your group whenever you're
- 10:41visiting the Disney parks is that Fantasia Gardens?
- 10:44The other golf course for mini golf is the Winter Summerland
- 10:49Mini Golf Course and this again features to 18 whole courses.
- 10:54It is $19.00 for adults and $12.00 for children aged 3 to 9.
- 10:58So same price regardless of which course you're going to.
- 11:01And again, walk ups are welcome. Reservations can be made.
- 11:06Also, like we talked about and this one, the theme is kind of
- 11:09fun because it was designed the, the, the lore goes, it was
- 11:14designed by Santa after he discovered snow in Florida.
- 11:18So he was running his routes and he discovered that there was
- 11:22snow in parts of Florida. So he built a vacation space for
- 11:26his off duty elves to go and relax.
- 11:29And then the elves then decided when they got there, they were
- 11:33going to build 2 distinctly different 18 hole golf
- 11:36experiences, a sand course or a sand based course that they
- 11:40named the summer part of it, and then a snow based course that
- 11:45gets the name winter. So fun little story behind the
- 11:49theming of winter Summerland. But again, both of these are
- 11:53really great options, especially because they are often included
- 11:57in your resort package. So definitely take a look at
- 12:00those for something a little bit extra to do on your day outside
- 12:04of the parks. The next place we're going to
- 12:06visit is Disney Springs. Now, Disney Springs has so much
- 12:11that you can do outside of the parks, so we're not even today
- 12:16going to talk about all of the restaurants you can go to, all
- 12:20of the shopping that you can do because there are 100 different
- 12:24options when it comes to restaurants and shopping.
- 12:27Today we're going to focus on some of the experiences and
- 12:30activities that you can do at Disney Springs.
- 12:33So keep that in mind as we go through.
- 12:35If you're like, well, what about the Lego store?
- 12:36What about World of Disney? Love those options, but it's not
- 12:39we're going to focus on today because otherwise I would do an
- 12:42entire hour and a half episode about all the things that Disney
- 12:44Springs has to offer. While that's a great idea for a
- 12:48future topic, that's not what we're here for today.
- 12:50So over at Disney Springs there are a bunch of different options
- 12:54for these activities that you can do.
- 12:56The first one we're going to talk about is the Cirque du
- 12:58Soleil show. So Cirque du Soleil has their
- 13:01own theater at the one end of Disney Springs and they have a
- 13:05uniquely Disney themed show that runs over here.
- 13:10So this is not a show that has ever toured or has ever been
- 13:14available to view any other their location other than Disney
- 13:18Springs. So the whole theme behind Drawn
- 13:21Together is Julie who is a courageous and determined girl
- 13:26discovers an unexpected gift left by her late father.
- 13:29It is an unfinished animation piece, so guided by a surprising
- 13:34pencil, she embarks on an inspiring quest sprinkled with
- 13:38her Disney childhood memories. And through this journey, she
- 13:41will learn to imagine new possibilities and animate the
- 13:44story of her future. It's a really, really great
- 13:47story. It does, I will just mention,
- 13:50deal with loss and death. So that is something to keep in
- 13:54mind if you're debating about going depending on how your
- 13:56kiddo does with those topics. But this is something that I I
- 14:00haven't been yet, but it's high up on my To Do List.
- 14:04Back about a year ago, I got the chance to chat and interview
- 14:09with one of the performers in Cirque du Soleil, and it was
- 14:14such an awesome conversation. I still am in touch with her
- 14:18today. She's a wonderful human being
- 14:20and an amazingly talented performer.
- 14:22So that's episode 77 of Mom Street if you want to hop back
- 14:26in the archives and learn more about what the performers do.
- 14:31And we also talked a lot about like why this show is good for
- 14:34kids and different suggestions and things like that.
- 14:38So really, really great option to do if you are looking for
- 14:41something to spend a couple hours on.
- 14:44Tickets for this can be purchased directly at the box
- 14:47office or they can be purchased online through Cirque du Soleil.
- 14:50So it is a third party. It doesn't.
- 14:52You don't go directly through Disney for that.
- 14:54The ticket ranges are anywhere from $79 to $230 for ages 2 and
- 14:59up because it depends on like where you sit.
- 15:01If you're super close, it's going to be a little bit more
- 15:03than if you're in the back, but the theater overall is not super
- 15:07huge. So it really is a nice intimate
- 15:10setting for being able to experience this show.
- 15:13The show times that they have are generally Wednesday through
- 15:16Saturday they have a 530 and an 8:00 and then Sunday they do a
- 15:21matinee at 1:30. Then they also have a 4:00 as
- 15:24well. So really accessible times,
- 15:26especially if you've got maybe kiddos that have a little bit of
- 15:30an earlier bedtime, maybe get them an earlier nap and go on
- 15:33that Sunday matinee time at 1:30.
- 15:35That's a perfect time so you're not out super late and you can
- 15:39still experience the show for what it is.
- 15:41So a really fun option, something unique and totally
- 15:44different, something you can and the show is something you can
- 15:47only find at Disney Springs. Something else in that same area
- 15:52of Disney Springs that is actually not open yet, but there
- 15:56is a new experience coming to the building that is literally
- 16:00directly across from the Cirque du Soleil Theatre on the end on
- 16:03that, I think it's the West End of Disney Springs and that is
- 16:07level 99. So this is opening June 29th,
- 16:11which is about 10 days from now when we're recording this.
- 16:14And this experience I should mention is primarily for teens
- 16:17and adults, so not necessarily super friendly for little
- 16:21littles, but definitely a good option for teens and older.
- 16:26And the description that they have on the website because
- 16:28again, the information is not fully out there yet because they
- 16:31haven't opened yet, but the information says.
- 16:34Unleash your potential at level 99, offering over 60 themed
- 16:37challenge rooms, duels, and art hunts that test your mental and
- 16:42physical prowess. Gather your group for a day of
- 16:44fun at a place designed to test your skills.
- 16:46Work together to conquer the challenge rooms, earn rewards
- 16:49and climb the coveted leaderboard.
- 16:51From solving mysteries in an ancient temple temple to walking
- 16:55a pirate's plank to beating a giant pinball game, there is
- 16:58something to discover behind every door.
- 17:00Your team will only have either 1 to 4 minutes to beat each
- 17:04challenge, so be prepared to act quick.
- 17:07And then it says once you've worked up an appetite, you can
- 17:09unwind to the two-story bar featuring handcrafted cocktails,
- 17:11local beers and made from scratch bites including Level
- 17:1499's signature Detroit style pizza.
- 17:18So this is a new brand new experience coming to Disney
- 17:21Springs. It looks like so much fun.
- 17:23This is something that I am so ready to grab a group of friends
- 17:26to go hang out and and experience these little
- 17:30challenges and challenge rooms and things.
- 17:32But it looks like a ton of fun. So if it is open and that sounds
- 17:36like something that your group wants to do because you've got
- 17:38the right age and the right mindset, definitely check out
- 17:42Level 99 over at Disney Springs. Now for something that is a
- 17:45little bit more family friendly for all ages, let's talk about
- 17:49Splitsville. Splitsville is a bowling slash
- 17:52restaurant combo that is in Disney Springs.
- 17:56They do have options where you can just go and eat at
- 17:59Splitsville. The food is pretty good.
- 18:01I've I ate there a couple years back with my family when we were
- 18:04over at Disney Springs. Very good food.
- 18:06Nothing like spectacular but we all had a really good meal when
- 18:09we went. But then you can also pay to eat
- 18:14at the bowling alley and do your bowling while you're enjoying
- 18:17your food, which is a fun option as well.
- 18:20And you can order like full menu options at their bowling alley,
- 18:23which is nice. It's more than just, you know,
- 18:25some French fries and and a slice of pizza.
- 18:28So it is 31 to $36 per person and you can have up to 8 people
- 18:34per lane. And how many bowlers you have
- 18:36depends on like how long you get at the lane.
- 18:39So anywhere from 1:00 to 2:00 bowlers you get an hour. 3 to 4
- 18:43is an hour 15, five to six is an hour and 30 and 7 to 8 is an
- 18:47hour 45 S Bigger groups, they're going to give you that longer
- 18:50period of time. And food and beverage, like I
- 18:52mentioned, is available through the servers at the lanes for an
- 18:55additional cost, obviously outside of the bowling.
- 18:58So they do have servers that will come to you just like a
- 19:01standard restaurant and take your order and bring your food
- 19:04to you as well while you're bowling, which I think is really
- 19:07fun. We didn't do the bowling aspect
- 19:09of it when we went because we were just short on time and just
- 19:11needed something to eat while we were over at Disney Springs.
- 19:14But like I said, the food is really great.
- 19:16They've got great drink selection, super fun, really
- 19:20great atmosphere for the family to go and enjoy some family time
- 19:24and do some bowling while you're there.
- 19:26The next one that I'm going to talk about is just your standard
- 19:29AMC movie theater. So if you didn't know, there is
- 19:32a movie theater at Disney Springs.
- 19:34That movie theater is just kind of a standard AMC as far as like
- 19:38what movies they get. So they're getting all of the
- 19:40new releases, They're getting all of the movies that you would
- 19:43find in your theater at home. However, they do have some
- 19:47elevated food here. So there are some more quote, UN
- 19:51quote gourmet meal options at the AMC at Disney Springs, if
- 19:55that is something that is of interest to you overall, just
- 19:59your kind of your standard AMC option.
- 20:01I know I talked to several people that are down there in
- 20:03the coming weeks that are going to see Toy Story 5 since it just
- 20:06came out today as we're recording this.
- 20:09So that is a really fun option if you're down there when a
- 20:12movie is being released to, you know, grab grab a time at the
- 20:15AMC theater to go see it over at Disney Springs.
- 20:18The next two options I'm going to talk about are so uniquely
- 20:23featured at Disney Springs that it's kind of hard to miss them.
- 20:26This one that I'm going to talk about now is.
- 20:29Maybe for your thrill seekers a little bit more.
- 20:33And that is the Aerophile hot air balloon.
- 20:36So this is an 8 minute tethered adventure in the world's largest
- 20:41hand painted helium balloon. So this I feel like is an icon
- 20:45of Disney Springs. Most people have seen it or you
- 20:50know, you can see it from a distance when you're approaching
- 20:52Disney Springs and see that giant beautiful blue hot air
- 20:55balloon up in the air. So like I mentioned, it is an 8
- 20:58minute tethered adventure. They're open generally 930 AM
- 21:02all the way until 11:00 PM weather permitting.
- 21:05It will not fly if the winds are too high.
- 21:08So some different things to look out for with that.
- 21:11Tickets can be purchased at the attraction location on a first
- 21:14come first serve basis. So you can't do any pre
- 21:17purchases or any advance reservations for this.
- 21:20It is first come first serve. Admission cost is $30.00 for
- 21:25adults and 25 for kids 3 to 9. Also, guests over the age of 12
- 21:31are permitted to ride by themselves.
- 21:34However, children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult or
- 21:38somebody that is 18 or older. So if you've got some teens that
- 21:43want to do it and you just want to stand on with your two feet
- 21:46firmly planted on the ground, you can watch from below as they
- 21:50go up in the Aerophile hot air balloon over at Disney Springs.
- 21:54But I love this option. This again is something that I
- 21:57would consider. I'm not like super fond of
- 22:01heights, but I do feel like this is one of those things that I
- 22:04should probably experience once in my life, right?
- 22:07The next and last thing that we're going to talk about at
- 22:09Disney Springs, again, we're not getting into shopping and eating
- 22:11in restaurants and those things is another kind of iconic
- 22:14experience over at Disney Springs, and that is the
- 22:18Amphicar rides. So if you don't know what an
- 22:21Amphicar is, it is essentially an open air convertible style
- 22:25car that seamlessly will transition you from land to
- 22:29water. So it's basically a car boat,
- 22:34for lack of more descriptive terms.
- 22:38This is a 20 minute guided tour across the waterways of Disney
- 22:43Springs. It is $125 per car.
- 22:47So this one is not split per person.
- 22:49It is per car because you just go with your group.
- 22:52They're not going to pair you with some other people that are
- 22:54waiting as well. And you can generally fit three
- 22:57to four people in a car, so $125 per four people.
- 23:02That's a pretty good experience price.
- 23:04The tours generally go from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily,
- 23:07again, weather permitting. They're not going to take you
- 23:09out when it's pouring down rain or lightning and thundering
- 23:12outside. And reservations for this are
- 23:15also only made in person. You cannot reserve this ahead of
- 23:17time. It is only in person at the
- 23:20Boathouse restaurant. So there's like a little stand
- 23:23that they use where you can go to walk up to make your
- 23:26reservations. But this experience is really,
- 23:30really cool. And it's a little crazy to just
- 23:33even stand and watch them go out in the infocars, right?
- 23:37It it feels like something out of like futuristic movies that
- 23:40we watched as a kid, right? Because these cars start on land
- 23:43and then they just drive straight on down the ramp dock
- 23:47and into the water. So really, really cool
- 23:50experience. But you can really only have it
- 23:53Disney Springs. That is another great option if
- 23:56that is something that sounds like something that your family
- 23:59would like to do. So the next thing that we are
- 24:00going to talk about is more related to the parks, but still
- 24:05outside of the parks and that is different fireworks viewing
- 24:09options that you have. Because believe it or not, there
- 24:12are a lot of them that you can see the fireworks, but you don't
- 24:16have to be inside of the park. So let's talk about the Magic
- 24:20Kingdom fireworks first. So if you are someone that wants
- 24:24to see happily ever after, a couple different options that
- 24:27you have. The 1st and probably the most
- 24:30well known is the beach area area over at the Polynesian
- 24:33Resort. So if you're at Magic Kingdom or
- 24:37if you bust a Magic Kingdom, you can hop on the monorail and take
- 24:41it to the Polynesian and you can go out the backside of their
- 24:48resort and find like the boat docks in the beach area and some
- 24:51of the grassy areas and still be able to see the fireworks from
- 24:54there. Now do keep in mind with this
- 24:56location, they will close it to resort guests only during really
- 25:00busy times of the year. So 4th of July, the Christmas
- 25:04holiday, Easter, sometimes they will close that off to only
- 25:09resort. Guests can sit there and view it
- 25:12just because of crowd levels. But if it's not closed and
- 25:15you're able to, it is a really nice option to go over and view
- 25:19the fireworks. They obviously pipe in the music
- 25:21and you'll be able to tell where a good location is by if you can
- 25:25see the little top turret of the castle from where you're at,
- 25:29it'll be right over the tree line as you look across the
- 25:33water. So if you can't see that castle,
- 25:35you're not going to get as good of a view, but as long as you
- 25:38can see the sky kind of above and around it, you should be OK.
- 25:41Another option is one of the other monorail resorts.
- 25:44We're going to talk about all three of the monorail resorts
- 25:46with this because those are your best options and that is the
- 25:49Contemporary resort. So we talked about this actually
- 25:53a couple episodes ago when we talked about like date night
- 25:56options. But the California Grill
- 25:59restaurant, which is at the top of the Contemporary, has a
- 26:03rooftop patio. So if you've got a reservation
- 26:07for California Grill at any point in time in the evening,
- 26:11they open at 5:00. So anytime 5:00 or on, you can
- 26:14return with your receipt and gain access to that patio
- 26:18viewing area for the fireworks. It's a little known kind of
- 26:22hidden gem of being able to eat. Not only does California Grill
- 26:26have really, really good food, but they have that little bonus
- 26:28which is nice as well. There's also the Celebration at
- 26:32the Top fireworks dessert party. This one comes with more of a
- 26:36price point because it is about 2:40, 99 per person, but that
- 26:41entire fireworks dessert party does take place up on top of
- 26:45that patio as well. So another option if you're
- 26:48looking for a splurge or maybe you're looking for a date night
- 26:51like we talked about a few episodes back with Duck and Jess
- 26:54on our last hub episode. This is a really, really great
- 26:57option over at the Contemporary. Now, the Contemporary also used
- 27:02to have a little patio that was on the 3rd or 4th floor that had
- 27:08some seats where you could watch the fireworks as well, but they
- 27:10recently just closed it down to only resort guests.
- 27:13So if you're staying at the Contemporary and maybe your view
- 27:16is the other side of the building, you do have access to
- 27:21that that patio seating area over at the Contemporary as
- 27:25well, which is another option if you are staying there.
- 27:28Now over at the Grand Floridian, our best option to see the
- 27:33fireworks is the boat dock area or Narcosi's restaurant.
- 27:38If you can get a time and a window seat during Happily Ever
- 27:43After, which those fireworks go off anywhere between 8:00 and
- 27:4710:00 depending on the day. So check those times before you
- 27:51book your reservation. You can have a fireworks view
- 27:55over there at the Grand Floridian as well.
- 27:57There are some other places kind of around the grounds of the
- 28:00Grand Floridian where you'll be able to see the fireworks, but
- 28:04those are the best options over at that resort.
- 28:07Now, another kind of firework adjacent experience over at
- 28:12Magic Kingdom that you can have is the viewing of the Electric
- 28:16Water Pageant. This is a super nostalgic
- 28:20nighttime show that features whimsical sea creatures across
- 28:24the Seven Seas Lagoon and it's set to classic Disney tunes
- 28:29during this. They call it a floating
- 28:30nighttime parade. So these are on barges and
- 28:33they're like these big. They've been upgraded now.
- 28:36I think they're more LED based screens that have different
- 28:39characters and different music. It's very reminiscent of the the
- 28:44nighttime parade, the electrical parade that used to be in the
- 28:47Magic Kingdom at night. It's very much in the similar
- 28:50style with the music and the the sights and all of that.
- 28:54But it has been around for over 50 years.
- 28:57It is an absolutely classic part of experiencing Disney around
- 29:03the Magic Kingdom resorts. And actually, if you want to
- 29:06catch it, My Disney Experience now has times for each stop that
- 29:10it makes. So you can actually check and
- 29:13see of the five stops that it makes.
- 29:16You can see what time it will be at each location, which is a
- 29:20really kind of fun thing to be able to experience.
- 29:23They didn't used to do that. I'm so glad that My Disney
- 29:26Experience added those times because it makes it so much
- 29:28easier to catch it. So as of right now, this is June
- 29:3219th of 2026. These were the times that it
- 29:37gave me. Now this will vary based on the
- 29:40time of year because they have to wait until it gets dark,
- 29:43right? So certain times a year, this
- 29:45may be earlier in the night, but currently it stops at the Grand
- 29:50Floridian at 8:45, the Polynesian at 9, Wilderness
- 29:55Lodge at 9:30, Fort Wilderness at 9:45, and then the
- 29:59Contemporary at 10:18. Very specific with that.
- 30:02So you can catch it any of those places.
- 30:05You can also catch it leaving the contemporary and going back
- 30:10to dock if you're standing at the monorail or any of the boat
- 30:14docks at the at Magic Kingdom as you're like exiting the park.
- 30:19So if you're there a little bit later, you can sometimes catch
- 30:22it as you are leaving the park for the night also.
- 30:25But it is so is such a fun little experience.
- 30:30I need to to make it a point to watch this on my my next trip
- 30:33because it's been a minute since I've seen the whole show.
- 30:36So definitely one to put on your list if you want an evening
- 30:39experience, but you don't necessarily need to do the
- 30:42fireworks. This is a really fun option.
- 30:44Or if you're already going to be at the Polynesian or the
- 30:48Contemporary or one of these other locations we talked about
- 30:50for HEA, then hopefully you can catch this as well and kind of
- 30:53get a 2 for one evening. With that, I also will mention
- 30:58to use the map feature on My Disney Experience to see where
- 31:04exactly it is that you should stand to find it.
- 31:09So let me show you what that looks like.
- 31:11OK, so let's say you want to view it at the Polynesian.
- 31:15So you can see on my screen here that it says that it's at 9:00.
- 31:20And then there's this little option right here that says find
- 31:23on map. You're going to click that and
- 31:25then it's going to show you exactly where to go.
- 31:27And you can zoom out to kind of see they're just suggesting the
- 31:31beach area at the Polynesian for that.
- 31:33But you can do that for all of the different locations because
- 31:36some of them are easier to find than others.
- 31:39You'll be able to see all of the locations on your My Disney
- 31:42Experience app. So definitely take a look at
- 31:45that. So you know where to go on the
- 31:47resort to make sure that you catch the pageant as it comes
- 31:50by. All right, let's talk a little
- 31:51bit more about fireworks. I do just want to briefly
- 31:54mention that if you enjoy the Epcot fireworks now, the Epcot
- 31:59fireworks obviously are a little bit different than Magic
- 32:01Kingdom. The Magic Kingdom fireworks are
- 32:03primarily up in the sky up above the castle.
- 32:06Easier to be seen from far away. The Epcot fireworks don't have
- 32:10nearly as many up in the air features as Happily Ever After.
- 32:14It does so with Luminous. If you want to be able to see
- 32:18some of the fireworks, it's going to be a very obstructed
- 32:21view because so many of the fireworks are lower down to the
- 32:25World Showcase Lagoon. You can see them a little bit
- 32:29from the boardwalk area. Basically the like bridges
- 32:33before you get to the boardwalk. You obviously don't want to
- 32:36stand behind the boardwalk because then all you're going to
- 32:39see is building. But also, if you're staying at
- 32:41the Boardwalk and you have a an Epcot view, you'll be able to
- 32:44see your fireworks from there. Sometimes if you get the right
- 32:49room at the Swan or Dolphin, you can also see these fireworks if
- 32:54you're up far enough and far enough back.
- 32:57But really there's no great outside of the Parkview of the
- 33:01Epcot fireworks just because there are trees and because so
- 33:05many of the firework features of this show are down closer to the
- 33:10ground. But I did just want to mention
- 33:12that if you are an Epcot person or if you're staying over in
- 33:16that area, the other thing with fireworks that you can do are
- 33:19one of the fireworks cruises. Now this is going to be
- 33:23obviously an expensive way to view the fireworks.
- 33:27This is available over at Magic Kingdom and you will be able to
- 33:31see the fireworks from the Seven Seas Lagoon.
- 33:34So prices for this start at 499 plus tax and they do vary by
- 33:38date. The more busy and the more
- 33:41sought after days are going to be more expensive.
- 33:44That's just the way dynamic pricing works with Disney boats
- 33:47seat up to 10 guests. So that is a nice feature that
- 33:51you can split that $500.10 ways. If you have that many friends.
- 33:56I want to go with you. And just to note that you're
- 33:58going to want to make sure that you arrive an hour and 15
- 34:01minutes prior to the fireworks start time for that.
- 34:05And that is something you do want to reserve ahead of time to
- 34:07get that all situated for your trip.
- 34:10Again, the all the other ways that we talked about, those are
- 34:12all freeways that you can watch. This is obviously a very costly
- 34:16way that you can watch the fireworks, but a very unique
- 34:19experience to be able to view the fireworks from the water
- 34:22right outside of Magic Kingdom. So wanted to make sure that I
- 34:25mentioned that as well. All right, the next category
- 34:30that we're going to talk about is more resort related.
- 34:33And then we're going to jump into a ton of stuff at the
- 34:36resorts here to end our our time.
- 34:38But this is Transportation Adventures is what I called this
- 34:42next category, and that is just using some of the different
- 34:45transportation options around the parks to kind of have like a
- 34:50resort day or see some different things while you're out running
- 34:55around. So we're going to start with the
- 34:57sky liner. I love the sky liner.
- 34:58It is a super fun mode of transportation across the Disney
- 35:02parks. So with this, you're going to
- 35:04start at either Hollywood Studios or Epcot.
- 35:07So you're going to still need to get there, right?
- 35:08Whether you drive and park, whether you take a bus, you
- 35:12would start at either one of those parks and then from there
- 35:15you can jump on the sky liner to access the Caribbean Beach
- 35:19Resort, the Riviera Resort, Pop Century, and Art of Animation.
- 35:23So any of those four resorts that you want to go and explore,
- 35:26you can walk around, you can grab a bite to eat and just kind
- 35:29of take in the sights and see what they have to offer.
- 35:32Maybe if you're considering staying there on your next trip,
- 35:35this is a really fun way to experience all of those.
- 35:38I love the Riviera a lot because it's got such a great vibe.
- 35:43It's got beautiful Zaic artwork outside.
- 35:46You can grab some Gelato from the stand that's in their little
- 35:49back courtyard. Lots of fun things and I've got
- 35:52great food over there as well, but lots of options for the sky
- 35:55liner. Now, if you are a monorail
- 35:58person and you would like to kind of stay near Magic Kingdom
- 36:01and do some of the monorail stuff, you can start at Magic
- 36:06Kingdom. You can also start at the TTC if
- 36:08you're driving or with the monorail.
- 36:10You could also start at Epcot if you wanted to take the extended
- 36:14did monorail ride just for something fun to do.
- 36:16My kids love the monorail. So I would probably like bus to
- 36:21Epcot, jump on that monorail, take it to the TTC, and then
- 36:25jump on the resort monorail from there.
- 36:27Because remember, there are three different monorails.
- 36:29There's the Epcot to Magic Kingdom monorail, there's the
- 36:31resort monorail, which that's the one you're going to want to
- 36:33do to stop at the resorts. And then the Express monorail
- 36:37only runs between the TTC and Magic Kingdom.
- 36:40That one won't do you as much good for this particular
- 36:42instance. So the resort monorail is the
- 36:44one that you want to do and that will take you obviously to the
- 36:47contemporary, the Grand Floridian and the Polynesian.
- 36:50You can go there. You can experience all the
- 36:52things they have to experience. They've all got different food
- 36:54options. They've all got different views
- 36:57of Magic Kingdom that you can enjoy.
- 36:59Lots of different things going on at these resorts.
- 37:01Again, food is going to be your primary one, but you can hop
- 37:05over to the Polynesian to grab a Dole Whip.
- 37:08You can hop over to the Grand Floridian to check out the piano
- 37:11player in the lobby. Lots of options at any of those
- 37:14monorail resorts and again, you can hop between Magic Kingdom
- 37:18and Epcot using the monorail as well.
- 37:20The last mode of transportation that I'm going to talk about is
- 37:24the boat routes. There are tons of water
- 37:27transportation and water taxis and boat routes across property.
- 37:31Some of the main ones I'm going to talk about now.
- 37:34The first one is the Friendship Boats.
- 37:37So this option runs between the International Gateway of Epcot
- 37:42and the front entrance to Hollywood Studios.
- 37:45On the way you also stop at the Boardwalk, you stop at Yon
- 37:49Beach, and you stop at the Swan and Dolphin.
- 37:51So again, different options that you have for exploring these
- 37:55different resorts to see what they have to offer.
- 37:58Do you keep in mind, and I should mention this, for anybody
- 38:00that is visiting these resorts, keep in mind that some of the
- 38:04amenities at these resorts are only for guests, right?
- 38:08So this is not me suggesting to go there and use the pool.
- 38:11That is not that is against Disney policy.
- 38:13You can only use the pool at the resort you're staying at or
- 38:15sister resorts if you're staying at one of those options.
- 38:19So just keep that in mind. But anybody can go and enjoy
- 38:22quick service or dessert or look around the lobby or any of those
- 38:27types of activities you are, anybody is welcome to go and do
- 38:30that, but just keep that in mind as we're talking through these.
- 38:33So yes, that friendship boat between Epcot and Studios will
- 38:37take you by the Boardwalk, the yacht and the Beach Club and the
- 38:40Swan and the Dolphin. Now, if you are in the Magic
- 38:44Kingdom area and you want to hop on a boat, do you have several
- 38:48options? You can take a boat from the
- 38:52Magic Kingdom that will take you to Fort Wilderness, Wilderness
- 38:56Lodge, Grand Floridian, and the Polynesian.
- 38:58So those are all some options that you can do.
- 39:00And those boat launches are between the monorail and the
- 39:05ferry boat. As you are exiting Magic
- 39:08Kingdom, they are like straight dead ahead.
- 39:10Whereas like the ferry boat will be off to the left and the
- 39:13monorail will be off to the right.
- 39:15So just take a look at the signs to see which one you would like
- 39:18to go to. So you're going to start at
- 39:19Magic Kingdom. So however, you need to get to
- 39:21Magic Kingdom to be able to take those boats there.
- 39:25You have another boat route that will also take you between the
- 39:29contemporary Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge.
- 39:31So take a look at, they often distinguish these boats with
- 39:35flag colors on the boats that will tell you which route it is
- 39:38that they're running to those docks.
- 39:40So hop on a boat, have an adventure that way.
- 39:43I like the boat that goes over to the Grand Floridian.
- 39:46I just, I like that ride. I think it's a fun, very scenic
- 39:50route kind of going that direction across the lake.
- 39:53But you've got tons of really nice views.
- 39:55You get really beautiful picturesque views of like the
- 39:58train station and the entrance to Magic Kingdom.
- 40:01You get beautiful picturesque views of the resorts as you're
- 40:04approaching them. Really, really nice.
- 40:07I like to do it kind of during golden hour too, because then
- 40:10you get some of the sunlight reflecting off the water.
- 40:12Really, really beautiful options there for Magic Kingdom boat
- 40:16routes. The last boat route that I'm
- 40:17going to talk about is the Disney Springs boat route.
- 40:20So there are a couple different resorts that you can have.
- 40:23You can take a boat to get to Disney Springs.
- 40:26Now. This has been in the news
- 40:27recently as we are recording this because Disney is changing
- 40:31their policy for what guests are able to utilize transportation
- 40:36from some resorts to and from Disney Springs.
- 40:40So keep in mind that for the boats that go to Old Key West
- 40:45and Saratoga from Disney Springs and the ones that go to Port
- 40:49Orleans, French Quarter and Port Orleans Riverside, you have to
- 40:53be a resort guest of one of those or you have to have like
- 40:59an activity reservation to be able to board the boats or the
- 41:03buses at Disney Springs. So that is a change that is
- 41:06coming up. So do keep that in mind if you
- 41:09are somebody that likes to visit those resorts from Disney
- 41:12Springs, you need to have a specific reason to go in order
- 41:16to be able to board those boats if you have parked at Disney
- 41:19Springs. So they're trying to alleviate
- 41:21the people that are abusing the free parking at Disney Springs,
- 41:24I believe is the whole purpose behind this.
- 41:26We'll see what happens with that.
- 41:28But definitely look into that if you are someone that wants to
- 41:31take those boat rides. Now if you're staying at one of
- 41:33those resorts, you have free access to those boats no
- 41:36problem. I love the boat ride from Port
- 41:40Orleans French Quarter to Disney Springs.
- 41:42We did that when we stayed there a few years back.
- 41:45It is a super fun boat ride. It is.
- 41:48It's a little bit lengthy. It's like a 2025 minute boat
- 41:51ride, but it's beautiful. There's lots of sites all
- 41:55around. I enjoyed it.
- 41:56My kids really liked it when we stayed there.
- 41:58So if you're staying at one of those, definitely consider
- 42:01taking the boats to Disney Springs for something kind of
- 42:04fun to do. And then when you get to Disney
- 42:06Springs, you have that whole list of things that I explained
- 42:09to you earlier in our episode of Different Things You Can Do at
- 42:11Disney Springs. So hop on the boat, take the
- 42:14boat over there and enjoy some time over at Disney Springs.
- 42:17So those are your kind of transportation adventures that
- 42:21you can take. And again, a lot of those were
- 42:23resort based. So let's talk more about the
- 42:25resorts. This is a big list.
- 42:27I'm going to kind of fly through this information and give you
- 42:29like an overview the best that I can.
- 42:31And then it'll be your job to look into the ones that sound
- 42:35most interesting to you. So let's talk about all of the
- 42:38different resort activities that you can do without even needing
- 42:41to go into a park. Obviously, the first thing that
- 42:44I'm going to tell you to do is to check with your resort at
- 42:47check in for their list of events for the week.
- 42:49Sometimes they have little like posters that are inside of
- 42:52pieces by the front desk. Sometimes they have different
- 42:57signage that are out by the pools, but definitely check in
- 43:00to see these events typically include things like games,
- 43:03crafts, movies and more holiday times.
- 43:06They even have special events also, like I know we were there
- 43:10near Christmas time and my kids got to make some little
- 43:13ornaments. You know, they have lots of
- 43:15different themed activities for any of the holidays, not even
- 43:19just like Christmas time. They'll have different things
- 43:21that are themed for Easter and all of the holidays in between.
- 43:26But the the main resort activities that you're going to
- 43:28find basically every resort are an arcade.
- 43:32They almost always have a movie under the stars option where
- 43:36they will have different movies throughout the week, usually
- 43:39right around the sunset time, usually about 8 PM, 8:30 PM
- 43:43depending on the time of year. And then a lot of the resorts
- 43:46also have like campfires or s'mores building or s'mores
- 43:50making or like toasting marshmallows also.
- 43:53So all of those options are kind of a general blanket statement
- 43:57of most resorts have those options, but some of the more
- 44:01specific options, let's talk about those now.
- 44:04The first thing that I want to talk about are some of the art
- 44:08options and art class options over at Coronado Springs.
- 44:12So Coronado Springs is mainly known for being a conference
- 44:17resort, so you get a lot of conventions and things over
- 44:21there, but they also have some really great art classes.
- 44:23So the first is the mosaic art option and that is for ages 12
- 44:28and up. It is $30 and the like
- 44:32description of the class is to create a Disney themed artwork
- 44:36inspired by the vibrant mosaics of Barcelona, Spain.
- 44:39Let your creative spirit run free as you design A mosaic that
- 44:43blends seasonal elements with beloved Disney characters and
- 44:46stories. So they have different options
- 44:49seasonally depending on when you go, but they almost always have
- 44:52the Mickey head shaped mosaic option there.
- 44:56This is a 2 hour experience and at the end you will have a
- 44:59colorful keepsake and you will receive a travel container to
- 45:03help you carry it home. The finished artwork may vary in
- 45:06size but will be no larger than 12 inches by 12 inches.
- 45:11So thinking about transporting that home, that is the shape and
- 45:15the size that you're looking at. And this takes place in the
- 45:18Dahlia Lounge at Coronado Springs on Mondays, Wednesdays
- 45:23and Saturdays from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
- 45:27So it's Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 1:00 PM, lasting
- 45:30until three. You do want to make your
- 45:33reservation for that ahead of time on the Disney website.
- 45:36The other option that they have is the colors of Coronado
- 45:39painting experience. This one's a little bit more
- 45:42involved, but it is still for ages 12 and up.
- 45:44It is $45 per person. And the description of this one
- 45:48is it says taken the breathtaking views of Walt
- 45:51Disney World Resort while you create your own masterpiece.
- 45:53And this is held at the Toledo restaurant, so the restaurant is
- 45:58obviously not open when they do this class.
- 46:00But that is where you will sit and paint and you will have a 2
- 46:04hour class facilitated by local artists.
- 46:06You'll pick up a brush and follow along as you color a
- 46:09canvas with theme designs based on the latest and greatest
- 46:11Disney has to offer. And this does mention that
- 46:14returning guests can expect a new design each month.
- 46:17So this frequently changes. So if you do it once and you
- 46:21want to be able to do it again, chances are good you're going to
- 46:23get a different scene or a different experience to paint.
- 46:27When you were done, you'll have a brand new original.
- 46:30This one is 11 inches by 14 inches piece of art to bring
- 46:34home and show off to all of your friends.
- 46:36So 11 by 14 for that one. Again, thinking about
- 46:39transporting at home, make sure that you have kind of space in
- 46:42your luggage if you're flying or in a carry on or however you're
- 46:46going to get it home. And this is every Friday at 1:00
- 46:50PM. Again, you want to reserve your
- 46:52time ahead of time on the Disney website.
- 46:54But two really fun art options over at Coronado Springs and now
- 46:59for something completely different, we're going to go
- 47:00over to the Grand Floridian Resort.
- 47:03And over the Grand Floridian, they actually have a fully
- 47:05functioning spa, which I don't know how many people actually
- 47:09know that the full name of the Grand Floridian is the Grand
- 47:12Floridian Resort and Spa. So this is a spa service that is
- 47:17available for 18 and up. However, there are a few
- 47:21options. Four teens, ages 14 to 17, they
- 47:26can do if they are accompanied by a parent or guardian for the
- 47:29entire experience. So under 18 has to have a parent
- 47:32or guardian stay with them the entire time and then they do.
- 47:35Also note that select salon and nail services are available for
- 47:39children 5 and up when accompanied by a parent or
- 47:42guardian for the entire experience.
- 47:44So it's kind of a tiered option. You have to look at the
- 47:46different things that they have to offer because they don't
- 47:49offer every service for every age.
- 47:52You do book this online. It's not you go through the
- 47:54Disney website, but you actually book on a third party site for
- 47:58them. For 18 and up, massages,
- 48:01facials, nail services, hair and makeup options, they range
- 48:05anywhere from $20.00 for a basic nail service all the way up to
- 48:10$300.00 for like massage and facial and all of that.
- 48:14And they, you know, have all sorts of price ranges in between
- 48:17for the kids and teen services they offer facials, massages,
- 48:22manicures and pedicures. And those again start around $35
- 48:26and they go up to $200 if you book one of the more involved
- 48:30packages. So all of that information and
- 48:33all of the little kind of detailed packages that they have
- 48:36are available for you to look at on the website even without
- 48:39booking. So you can hop on the start on
- 48:41the on the Disney website, type in the Grand Floridian Spa.
- 48:45It'll take you to that page and you'll be able to click through
- 48:47to look at all of the different options that they have in the
- 48:50different price ranges that they have.
- 48:51But a really fun way, if you maybe have some kiddos that
- 48:56really want to do like a hair option or if they want to do
- 49:01Mani petty, those are really, really great options to do that.
- 49:05You could maybe do a halfway through your trip.
- 49:08I know one of the options as I was looking through all of these
- 49:11is like, what did they call it like a tired, tired feet teen
- 49:15option or something where it's like a a foot massage and a
- 49:19pedicure. So lots of really cute options
- 49:21that they have over at the Grand Floridian Spa.
- 49:25Let's talk about boat rentals. So we talked a little bit about
- 49:28boat rentals with the fireworks crews, but let's talk about like
- 49:32other boat rentals that you can do.
- 49:35And then we're also going to talk about fishing in kind of
- 49:37coordination with that. There are boat rentals that you
- 49:42can do at a ton of the different resorts.
- 49:44So the boat rental options are available at the Contemporary,
- 49:49the Beach Club, Grand Veridian Yacht Club.
- 49:52The boat rentals are first come, first serve and they are the Sun
- 49:56Tracker brand of pontoon boats. Now I don't know that much about
- 49:59boating, but I got that off the website.
- 50:01They do seat up to 10 guests and they're actually really
- 50:06affordable. They're only $49.00 per half
- 50:09hour. So you can go there again, first
- 50:12come first serve. You do not make a reservation
- 50:14for these and you can talk to the people there about how long
- 50:17you want to go out, what your options are, the and all those
- 50:20details with them. The driver must be at least 18
- 50:24years of age, so don't send all your teenagers that are under 18
- 50:28to go and rent a pontoon boat. You've got to have somebody to
- 50:31drive it that is at least 18 years of age.
- 50:34Generally speaking, their hours are 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, but
- 50:38that does vary depending on the time of year, weather
- 50:42permitting. All of those those details as
- 50:45well, but several different options of where you can rent
- 50:48those at one of these locations at Fort Wilderness, you can also
- 50:54rent kayaks and canoes. So if that is something you like
- 50:57to do if you're very outdoorsy, you've got a family that's very
- 50:59outdoorsy, you can rent kayaks and canoes over at Fort
- 51:03Wilderness. Again, these are first come
- 51:05first serve. It is generally 9:00 AM to 5:00
- 51:08PM daily and it is $10.00 for 30 minutes.
- 51:12Now keep in mind, these places claim that they're open until
- 51:165:00, but they stop letting people rent, usually speaking
- 51:21about 30 minutes before they close because the point is
- 51:24they're supposed to have everybody back in and they can
- 51:27close down their their shop for, for the evening at 5:00 PM.
- 51:32So you definitely want to be there by like 4 to make sure
- 51:35that you get enough time to go through all of their information
- 51:39and get all the waivers signed. But Fort Wilderness is where
- 51:41you'll find those kayak and canoe rentals.
- 51:43And they do have for all of these.
- 51:45They do have life jackets and all of that safety information
- 51:48and everything they give to you whenever you go to rent there as
- 51:51well. You know, something kind of
- 51:53adjacent to that is these fishing options that they have.
- 51:57So they actually have a fishing option that is the dockside
- 52:00fishing, so one that you don't even need to go out and drive a
- 52:03boat around. So this is at the Port Orleans
- 52:06Riverside and Fort Wilderness resorts only.
- 52:10It is $6 for 30 minutes of fishing on the dockside and they
- 52:15give you the pole and the bait. The bait I believe is a little
- 52:18bit of an extra cost, I want to say 4 or $5 for different
- 52:22container sizes. It probably depends on what they
- 52:25have available and and that but you can do dockside fishing over
- 52:29there. It is all catch and release
- 52:31obviously. I believe it's primarily bass
- 52:35that you are fishing for in the waterways at Disney that and
- 52:38that's what Disney brings in for the fishing experiences, but
- 52:42don't quote me on that. So dockside fishing over at
- 52:45Riverside and Fort Wilderness and then they do offer fishing
- 52:50excursions as well. So the excursions are offered at
- 52:55Fort Wilderness, Caribbean Beach, Contemporary Grand
- 52:58Floridian, Old Key West, Polynesian, Port Orleans,
- 53:02Riverside Wilderness Lodge and Yacht Club.
- 53:05So lots of options for where these fishing excursions can
- 53:08take place. Something fun to note that I
- 53:11didn't realize and I've looked at these fishing excursions
- 53:13before, but I didn't realize some of them super early in the
- 53:17morning, you can actually take a fishing excursion into the World
- 53:22Showcase Lake, like into the lagoon like that World Showcase
- 53:27is situated around. So like if you're somebody that
- 53:30is jumping on over at like the Yacht Club, you can go into
- 53:35Epcot on your boat, right? You're not going to be obviously
- 53:37walking around in the parks before it's open, but like they
- 53:39have like 7:00 AM times, which is before the park opens.
- 53:43But you can go into the World Showcase Lagoon and fish in
- 53:47there, which I thought was super cool.
- 53:49I didn't even know that you could do that, but they have two
- 53:52hour and 4 hour excursions for these fishing experiences.
- 53:57A two hour 1 generally ranges anywhere from $250 to $300.
- 54:03A four hour 1 is $450 to $500 and they have a couple different
- 54:08types of boats that you can go on.
- 54:11I should also mention that DVC and annual pass holders get 15%
- 54:15off of those prices, but you can choose from a guided bass
- 54:18fishing excursion which includes a sun tracker fishing barge,
- 54:23pontoon boat which will accommodate up to five guests or
- 54:27a tournament style Nitro bass fishing boat which will
- 54:30accommodate up to three guests. So those price ranges, like the
- 54:35250 for two hours is going to be your smaller boat and then the
- 54:39300 is going to be your bigger boat.
- 54:41But either way, if you're going with friends or different family
- 54:45members, you can split that cost between all of you, which I
- 54:49think is really nice. And again, DVC and a PS get 15%
- 54:53off of those options. But yeah, a lot of the options
- 54:56also happen at the Seven Seas Lagoon.
- 54:59So like if you're a Fort Wilderness, if you are
- 55:01contemporary Grand Floridian, that's where you're going to
- 55:04find those. I don't know for sure where the
- 55:07Caribbean beach one goes. I would guess it probably goes
- 55:10to Epcot as well, but don't quote me on that.
- 55:13I don't know for sure if you've been on one of these and you
- 55:16know, leave us a comment because I'd love to know like if this is
- 55:19all like location specific, right?
- 55:21Because then I also don't know like Old Key West and Port
- 55:25Orleans, Riverside. Did they go to Disney Springs?
- 55:29Just thinking about bigger areas that they could do it at.
- 55:33That's not like a river way. I would guess that would make
- 55:37sense to me. So those are probably your three
- 55:39options as far as location that you go to.
- 55:42But either way, a really fun option.
- 55:44If you've got Fisher people, fishermen, fisherwomen in your
- 55:48in your travel group, that's a really fun option to do it.
- 55:52One of the resorts, OK, I think that's all of our boat related
- 55:57things. Let's talk about bicycle rentals
- 56:00because this is another option that you have over at some of
- 56:03the resorts. So some of these resorts are so
- 56:06scenic that they give you the ability to rent a bicycle
- 56:09because they've got bike paths and walking paths and things
- 56:12that you can take these on. So they have both adult bikes
- 56:17and children's bikes and they even have some that have
- 56:19training wheels on them, which is a really nice feature.
- 56:22They are available on a first come, first served basis at the
- 56:25following Disney Resort Hotel. So Old Key West, Port Orleans,
- 56:29Riverside, Saratoga Springs and Fort Wilderness.
- 56:32They all have bicycle rentals that you can do.
- 56:35The price range for bike rentals is $9 per 60 minutes.
- 56:40So if you just want to take a couple laps around the resort
- 56:43and then go back and return your bicycle, you can do that.
- 56:46Or they are $18.00 for the whole day.
- 56:49So if you'd like to rent it from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, you will.
- 56:54You will pay $18.00 for the whole day.
- 56:55So if you'd like to have that ability to ride around
- 56:58throughout the day, that could be a really fun adventure that
- 57:01you could go on. Especially some of these
- 57:03resorts, like some of these resorts are huge.
- 57:05Old Key West and Saratoga Springs are massive resorts.
- 57:10So is Fort Wilderness. Orleans, Riverside's a little
- 57:12bit smaller, but I guess you could take your bike over to
- 57:15French Quarter potentially and have that kind of extended route
- 57:20that you could take. But all of these resorts are
- 57:23beautiful and scenic. Old Key West and Saratoga
- 57:26Springs especially, you go near some of the golf courses, so
- 57:29just absolutely beautifully scenic at these locations.
- 57:34Do keep in mind that Florida law requires bicyclists under 16
- 57:39years of age to wear helmets. So anyone under 16 is required
- 57:43by their law to wear a helmet. Guests must remain within the
- 57:46specific resort area where the bike has been rented.
- 57:48So it's not like you could grab a bike at Saratoga Springs and
- 57:52ride it to Disney Springs. That is not allowed.
- 57:54You have to stay in the resort area for which you rent.
- 57:58Now the reason that I mentioned Riverside, Porto Lanes Riverside
- 58:01is I don't know for sure if they would let you to go to French
- 58:05Quarter because it's all connected by those pathways or
- 58:09not. So that would be a question
- 58:10you'd have to ask if you're over at Riverside and planning to do
- 58:14a bicycle rental. Now the other style of bike
- 58:17rental that they have are the Surrey bikes.
- 58:20And I actually just did this with our good friend Sarah and
- 58:24Ty on my last trip. And Oh my word, we had so much
- 58:29fun doing the Surrey bikes. We chose to do it over at Port
- 58:33Orleans Riverside. They also have them at Boardwalk
- 58:36Inn, Old Key West and Saratoga Springs.
- 58:39So again, these options are some of the bigger resorts that have
- 58:43these walking pathways already kind of built into their
- 58:45infrastructure. But you can choose a two person
- 58:48or a four person Surrey bike. Do keep in mind that if you are
- 58:54doing these Surrey bikes, they're they're heavy.
- 58:59So there were three of us doing the Surrey bike over the four
- 59:03person Surrey bike over at Riverside and some of the little
- 59:06hills we had to go up. We had to work real hard to get
- 59:09up there. So they are heavy bikes it it is
- 59:13a bit of a workout. So keep that in mind.
- 59:15You definitely want to have enough leg power to get you
- 59:20through. Now these locations also have or
- 59:24these bikes also have like middle seats that have options
- 59:29where like little kiddos can sit with like a little seat belt,
- 59:31which is kind of fun. So definitely take a look at
- 59:35that. But the price range for these is
- 59:38for A2 seater it is $25 for 30 minutes and then for A4 seater
- 59:44it is $28.00 for 30 minutes. So a really affordable option.
- 59:50We had so much fun. We made it 2 laps around
- 59:54Riverside in our 30 minutes that we had.
- 59:57And they like to have a little map on the that's like connected
- 1:00:00to the Surrey bike so you know where to go.
- 1:00:02And like the woman that was working was an Angel because we
- 1:00:05got there like right as she was trying to shut down.
- 1:00:08We were like right at 4:30 and we kind of begged and pleaded
- 1:00:11and she was so nice and let us still go ahead and rent one.
- 1:00:15And we promised her we would be back before 5:00 so that way she
- 1:00:19could be done with her her work for the day.
- 1:00:22But so much fun it is. A bit of a workout, but
- 1:00:26definitely worth it if that's something that you wanted to do.
- 1:00:29It's something I had always wanted to do and we had a blast
- 1:00:31doing it. If you want to see our
- 1:00:33adventures, I did post a video on my personal TikTok account.
- 1:00:36My wishes Mama account we had. We had a blast doing that.
- 1:00:39So the Surrey bikes are definitely a really fun option
- 1:00:42for something completely different.
- 1:00:44I will mention I don't know about the the routes at Old Key
- 1:00:49West or Saratoga Riverside had just a few small hills.
- 1:00:52Boardwalk has some more hills. So unless you've got four really
- 1:00:57strong legged people peddling that bike, I don't know that I
- 1:01:01would suggest the Boardwalk because it's got a lot of a lot
- 1:01:05bigger hills and it would be a lot harder to make it up those
- 1:01:10hills. That's what I would would say
- 1:01:13about that. But the boardwalk would be a
- 1:01:15very nice scenic one to do if you know you've got the manpower
- 1:01:18and can get the momentum to make it up some of those hills.
- 1:01:21So the last specific section in resorts that I have to talk
- 1:01:25about before we get to just some general resort ambiance, which
- 1:01:29I'll talk about as our last section to close is over at Fort
- 1:01:34Wilderness. We've talked about Fort
- 1:01:35Wilderness a couple of different things.
- 1:01:36They definitely have some good options over there, but this is
- 1:01:39the different horse options that you have.
- 1:01:41So over at Fort Wilderness, they have the Tri Circle D Ranch,
- 1:01:45which is where they keep all of the horses that you see across
- 1:01:48property. So little ponies that that pull
- 1:01:52Cinderella's carriage for the different like wedding events
- 1:01:55and special events. The horses that pull the trolley
- 1:01:59cars over at Magic Kingdom that like the Dapper Danzer on
- 1:02:01sometimes the horse that is featured in the Mickey's Not so
- 1:02:06scary Halloween party booty you parade.
- 1:02:09All of these horses have to live somewhere.
- 1:02:11Well, they live over at Fort Wilderness over at Tri Circle D
- 1:02:15Ranch, so they have two different options for horse
- 1:02:19experiences over here. The first that they have is the
- 1:02:22pony rides. So for the pony rides, the
- 1:02:25riders must be at least three years of age, under 80 lbs and
- 1:02:30no taller than 48 inches. So this is truly little kiddo
- 1:02:34friendly. I really wanted to take my
- 1:02:36daughter on this, one of our last trips, but unfortunately
- 1:02:40the trip that we wanted to go on, both my kiddos got sick and
- 1:02:44so we just ran out of time. And now she's too tall, so I
- 1:02:48can't take her on the pony rides.
- 1:02:50But I do want to take her horseback riding when she's a
- 1:02:53little bit bigger, which we'll talk about those details in a
- 1:02:56moment. But for the pony rides, again,
- 1:02:58they must be at least three under 80 lbs and no taller than
- 1:03:0248 inches. It is only $10 per child, which
- 1:03:06is a fabulous price for a fun experience to have.
- 1:03:09Over at the at the resorts, it is walk in only, so you want to
- 1:03:13make sure that you get there early so that way you're not
- 1:03:16waiting in a super, super crazy long line.
- 1:03:20Their hours are generally 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, but they are
- 1:03:25subject to change and they don't really post them.
- 1:03:28Before the trip that we were going to go on a few days
- 1:03:31before, I actually found a number online like the and
- 1:03:35called Tri Circle D Ranch and said, hey, can you tell me what
- 1:03:38your hours are going to be next week?
- 1:03:40And they're like, oh, yeah, no problem.
- 1:03:42We're 4:50 or 9:00 to 5:00 or whatever it is.
- 1:03:44But so that was really helpful because they don't really
- 1:03:47publish the hours ahead of time unless you're like at the
- 1:03:50resort. So like you'd have to make a
- 1:03:52second trip. It's that would be a whole, a
- 1:03:54whole production. So I actually called and they
- 1:03:56were able to tell me, but it is walk-ins only.
- 1:03:58Again, generally speaking, 4:50 for those pony rides.
- 1:04:02Really, really great option for your littles, especially if they
- 1:04:05are animal lovers. And it's a really great option
- 1:04:08if you've also got people that want to do the horseback riding,
- 1:04:11which is the other horse experience you can have over at
- 1:04:13Fort Wilderness. Guests must be 9 years of age or
- 1:04:16older and at least 48 inches and under £250.
- 1:04:20So they do have pretty strict size guides for that just for
- 1:04:25the the well-being of the animals.
- 1:04:27It is $65 per person and you can book it 60 days prior to your
- 1:04:33visit. And I believe it's about an hour
- 1:04:35long experience. So that is one of those magical
- 1:04:38extras you can book 60 days prior to and they have a couple
- 1:04:42times throughout the day that you can book.
- 1:04:44They have an 8:00 AM and 9:30 AM, eleven AM, 12:30 PM, and
- 1:04:482:00 PM. So those five times are what
- 1:04:50they have available throughout the day.
- 1:04:53I don't know for sure how quickly this experience books
- 1:04:56up. If you've got a larger party
- 1:04:58that wants to go, I would definitely suggest booking it as
- 1:05:01soon as possible. But if you're just one person,
- 1:05:04chances are good you can probably find something a little
- 1:05:06bit closer to the day that you want to go.
- 1:05:09But this is one that I really want to do.
- 1:05:11I love horseback riding. I haven't been in so long, but I
- 1:05:15would love to go horseback riding over at Fort Wilderness.
- 1:05:19So both of those options are really great, especially if
- 1:05:22let's say you're you're doing the like 11 AM horseback riding
- 1:05:27and the pony rides open at 10. Get there a little bit early and
- 1:05:30you can do a little bit of experiencing both while you're
- 1:05:32over at Fort Wilderness. You can also walk in through the
- 1:05:36stables and like see all of the horses that are housed over
- 1:05:40there as well. Just again, be respectful of the
- 1:05:43the animals over there. That is their home and that is
- 1:05:46their space where they're away from the hustle and bustle of
- 1:05:49the parks, just like you're there to get away from the
- 1:05:51hustle and bustle of the parks. So just be respectful if you do
- 1:05:54visit the the stables over there at Fort Wilderness.
- 1:05:58So the last thing that I want to talk about in our resort section
- 1:06:01here is just some resort ambiance that you may want to go
- 1:06:07and visit. And I talked a little bit about
- 1:06:09some of these already, but I've got just like a short list of
- 1:06:12ones that I thought of off the top of my head.
- 1:06:14This is by no means a full complete list of all of the
- 1:06:18offerings that these resorts have to offer.
- 1:06:21But what I would suggest is picking a resort that you've
- 1:06:24never been to before and that maybe looks interesting or
- 1:06:27sounds interesting or maybe one that you're considering staying
- 1:06:30at and just go over and see what they have to offer.
- 1:06:34Different sites to see food, like we talked about different
- 1:06:37experiences. So like if you're going over to
- 1:06:40Coronado because you want to do the art class, well then check
- 1:06:43out some of the other things that they have going on over
- 1:06:45there, right. All of these resorts have a ton
- 1:06:47of different things to offer. Some of the ones, and on my
- 1:06:50short list, Animal Kingdom Lodge has amazing animal viewing.
- 1:06:55If you go out the backside of the resort at either building,
- 1:06:59you can have Savannah views. You can see zebras and giraffe
- 1:07:04and antelope and waterbuck and all sorts of different animals.
- 1:07:07And they've got like animal viewing guides and little animal
- 1:07:11information panels that you can read like at a zoo.
- 1:07:14So that's a really fun one. And Animal Kingdom Lodge is just
- 1:07:17absolutely gorgeous. So that's a really fun one to
- 1:07:19visit and we talked a little bit about Port Orleans French
- 1:07:22Quarter and doing beignets over there.
- 1:07:26Then they've got some great unique food options over there
- 1:07:29as well that are not like your standard food court food
- 1:07:32options. We talked about the Riviera
- 1:07:34earlier. I love the Riviera resort.
- 1:07:37It's just absolutely gorgeous. They've got beautiful mosaic
- 1:07:40paintings all over. They've got an amazing view of
- 1:07:44like the sky liner and the Caribbean beach resort.
- 1:07:47The food is incredible. If you're eating at Topolino's,
- 1:07:50which is the restaurant that is on the top floor, they've got a
- 1:07:54character breakfast in the morning and like fine dining for
- 1:07:58dinner at the evening. It's just great vibes over
- 1:08:01there. I love, love, love the Riviera
- 1:08:03Resort. Another one we just talked about
- 1:08:06Port Orleans French Quarter, but also Port Orleans Riverside.
- 1:08:08You can go over there to catch a show in the evening that
- 1:08:12features Yeehaw Bob. He's a very famous entertainer
- 1:08:15over at Disney, so look him up and see if that is kind of your
- 1:08:18speed. Over at the Polynesian, they've
- 1:08:21got Trader Sam's GRA Grotto, which is the bar, the themed,
- 1:08:25the tiki themed bar that's over there, but they also have Dole
- 1:08:28Whip and some other options as far as different food and great
- 1:08:33theming over there on any of the outdoor patio seating.
- 1:08:36So that's another great option. We talked about the Grand
- 1:08:39Floridian earlier and the pianist that plays in the lobby.
- 1:08:42So that's a really fun option, especially if you're a fan of
- 1:08:46that style of music or if you've got some kids that may be enjoy
- 1:08:50piano playing or play the piano. Go over there and check out the
- 1:08:53pianist in the lobby. The Boardwalk has a ton of food
- 1:08:57options and some really great sites also over there to check
- 1:09:00out. And it's a quick walk from
- 1:09:02Epcot, which is a nice location over there.
- 1:09:05Again, that's like my short list of ones that I could think of
- 1:09:08off the top of my head. But every resort has something
- 1:09:12to offer that you can do without a park ticket without needing to
- 1:09:15pay an extra crazy amount of money.
- 1:09:18You know you're going to eat anyway, so why not try a
- 1:09:21restaurant at a different location?
- 1:09:23I'm in any of the quick service locations across property you
- 1:09:26are welcome to go to without needing to have you know you're
- 1:09:29not going to have a reservation, but jump on a transportation
- 1:09:33option and go over to a new resort and and check it out.
- 1:09:36It's a lot of fun. Well, I think that kind of wraps
- 1:09:38up our fast and furious ideas of things to do without a park
- 1:09:42ticket at Disney and for your non park days gives you
- 1:09:47hopefully some options to consider.
- 1:09:49We like to kind of pair one or two things together with like a
- 1:09:52pool day or a sleep in morning if we've been going going, going
- 1:09:56at the parks and we just need a little bit of extra time to
- 1:09:58rest. All of these are really great
- 1:10:00options for that. So hopefully this list give you
- 1:10:02something new to consider for your next Disney trip.
