- 0:00Speaker 1: I am Sherry Mackie at his time for us to
- 0:02Speaker 1: go to God in prayer. You know today is Juneteenth,
- 0:07Speaker 1: a day of freedom, a day of remembrance. So Heavenly Father,
- 0:12Speaker 1: in the name of Jesus Christ, we come before you
- 0:15Speaker 1: with hearts full full of gratitude, full of grief, and
- 0:19Speaker 1: at the same time, God, full of hope. We thank
- 0:21Speaker 1: you Lord for Juneteenth, a day that marks the breaking
- 0:25Speaker 1: of chains, a day when the echoes of liberty finally
- 0:29Speaker 1: reached the last of the enslaved.
- 0:32Speaker 2: The Lord.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Even as we celebrate, we also grieve. We grieve for
- 0:36Speaker 1: the sin of the world. We grieve for the sin
- 0:40Speaker 1: of slavery. We grieve for the centuries of dehumanization, for
- 0:45Speaker 1: the stolen names, the stolen families, the stolen dreams.
- 0:49Speaker 2: We grieve.
- 0:50Speaker 1: But at the same time we do not grieve without hope.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Our hope, our trust, our faith, our confidence is in you.
- 0:57Speaker 1: For you are the God who sees, the God, God
- 1:00Speaker 1: who delivers Israel from Pharaoh's hand, the God who breaks
- 1:03Speaker 1: every chain, spiritual, physical, and generational. Lord, we remember, We
- 1:07Speaker 1: remember those who waited, who labored under oppression, who prayed
- 1:11Speaker 1: through pain, who sang songs of freedom, even when freedom
- 1:15Speaker 1: was only a whisper on the wind. God, we honor
- 1:18Speaker 1: their endurance, their faith, their fight. Let us never, God,
- 1:22Speaker 1: forget the cost of dignity denied.
- 1:25Speaker 2: But God, you are a redeemer.
- 1:27Speaker 1: You bring beauty from ashes, You lift the heads of
- 1:30Speaker 1: the oppressant, called them your been loved. So today God,
- 1:34Speaker 1: we thank you, not just for a date on the
- 1:37Speaker 1: calendar before the truth. It represents that freedom delayed is
- 1:41Speaker 1: not freedom denied. Because your justice is short, your timing
- 1:45Speaker 1: is perfect. And yet, Lord, we confess there's still work
- 1:48Speaker 1: to be done in our city, in our nation, in
- 1:52Speaker 1: our country, in our world. God, there are still systems
- 1:56Speaker 1: of injustice, still hearts hardened by hate.
- 2:00Speaker 2: So God we cry out to you today.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like the
- 2:05Speaker 1: mighty stream. God, teach us to be bridge builders, to
- 2:08Speaker 1: speak truth and love, to act justly, to love mercy,
- 2:11Speaker 1: to walk humbly with you.
- 2:13Speaker 2: God, let Juneteenth not only remind.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Us of what was broken, but awaken us to what.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Can still be restored.
- 2:21Speaker 1: God, let it stir within us a holy anger toward
- 2:24Speaker 1: injustice and a holy love for all people made.
- 2:28Speaker 2: In your image. We pray especially for healing.
- 2:31Speaker 1: God, healing for the descendants of the enslaved, Healing for
- 2:35Speaker 1: this nation still marked by division. God, Healing for hearts
- 2:39Speaker 1: wounded by generations of silence and pain.
- 2:42Speaker 2: God, let your church rise up as a voice for
- 2:45Speaker 2: the voiceless.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Let our faith and not be passive but prophetic. Let
- 2:49Speaker 1: our worship not be hollow but holy and.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Committed God to justice.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Because whom the sun sets free is free indeed, and
- 2:56Speaker 1: that freedom must flow through every heart, every home, every nation.
- 3:01Speaker 2: God, we thank you Jesus.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Our Savior, our liberator, our peace. You bore the cross
- 3:07Speaker 1: to bring true freedom. Thank you for the freedom of salvation.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Today. In your mighty Match's name, we pray. Amen. Amen, Amen,
