- 0:00Hey, it's Dune here. This is just a quick message to let you know that for the next two weeks, we're bringing you a roundup of our favorite episodes that you might've missed the first time around. Episodes from women like Leslie Carls, the founder of Midday Squares, Ju Ru, the founder of Hero Cosmetics, and Michelle Grant, the founder of Lively. I hope you enjoy these episodes as much as I did recording them. And if you learned something, please do shout about it by posting it to your Instagram stories.
- 0:30Welcome back. Here are the six quick questions. So question number one is, what's your why? Why are you doing what you do? I am doing what I do to change lives.
- 0:51Naughty foods. I think so much of people are like, oh, I can't have that. There is a way that you can have whatever it is you want without having, we call it the taste tax, without paying the taste tax and being able to enjoy what you enjoy. And so we're excited to continue bringing nostalgic, delicious things and make it a-okay in your household. Love that. Question number two is what do you think has been the number one marketing moment so far that made the business pop?
- 1:18That driveway moment was really interesting because we got so much just press we didn't think we'd get. And it really, it really created some great awareness for the brand.
- 1:28Yeah, that's a really good one. Really thinking outside the cereal box. Totally. Question number three is where do you hang out to get smarter? Where are you reading or listening or subscribing that others would benefit from knowing about? The last year and a half, I've been hanging out in the living room. So I don't know how much smarter I got there. But I think what's interesting in the natural food space is everyone is so open. And
- 1:54into meeting each other. There's such camaraderie in the industry. I mean, everyone wants to help each other. So I've just been surrounding myself with like-minded entrepreneurs and we all just discuss, you know, what's the struggle of the day and what are you going through and how can we help each other? And it's been just an amazing, amazing environment. Yeah, network is so important. We talk about this a lot on the show.
- 2:16Question number four is how do you win the day? What are your AM and PM rituals and habits that keep you feeling happy and successful and motivated? There are no rituals and no habits. It's havoc in this house. Having a four-year-old, a seven-month-old, a pandemic. No, it's there. It's just like wake up.
- 2:36excited to, I love what I do. So I don't, I don't feel like I need a moment where I'm like, oh, I disconnect for the evening, whether I'm working at two in the morning, 7am, or just like deciding to have a glass of wine. I'm so happy with what I do. So there is no ritual. It's just like, go and do it. Love that. Question number five is if you were given a thousand dollars of no strings attached grant money, where would you spend it in the business?
- 3:02In retail with an incremental display or end cap or whatever it is or anything to drive trial. I think that's been a really interesting thing for us is anytime anyone tries our product, that conversion for them to buy it the next time has been the easiest thing. So getting it in someone's mouth, I would 100 times spend it on trial.
- 3:21What is an end cap, by the way? So, you know, in a grocery store, so there's a regular aisle and at the end of every aisle where like you see a display, like a full, that's called an end cap.
- 3:33Got it. Good to know. Thank you. And question number six, last question is how do you deal with failure? What's your mindset and approach when things don't go to plan? So that's a good question. So I don't fail because for me, failure means, and I always give the analogy of bike riding. For me, failure would mean you fell off the bike, you left the bike, you walked away and you never got back on the bike.
- 3:57And that's failure, right? Accepting mistakes and not figuring out a way to solve them. And so for me, it's like, yes, do we fall off the bike and do we skin our knees and do we get upset? And are there bumps in the road? All the time. But for me, it's like, I figured out where the band-aids in the house are, figuratively speaking. And so for me, it's figure out how to solve whatever is at hand.
- 4:18And that's it. Keep on going. That's how you avoid failure. Just keep it going. Get back on the bike. Keep riding. Keep on riding. Margaret, thank you so much for taking the time to come on the show and share your journey. I've loved chatting with you and I'm so excited to get to the US and try Three Wishes. Yes, I can't wait. Thank you so much.
