- 0:15Speaker 2: We's Bright Control the.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Live from downtown Baton Rouge. Here's Jacob Hess and Matt Flynn.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Yo, and welcome in to O TB. Here on a
- 0:35Speaker 3: Friday morning. We are not live from downtown Baton Rouge.
- 0:40Speaker 3: We are live from Rous's on Burbank. It is a
- 0:43Speaker 3: football Friday and we'll be here all morning long. Jake
- 0:47Speaker 3: and Flynn here, Elandra and Tate back in studio. Well,
- 0:51Speaker 3: I say Flynn's here, but I'm not really sure he
- 0:54Speaker 3: is going to be with us today because they've got
- 0:57Speaker 3: two TVs and one of the TV's in front of
- 0:59Speaker 3: us is on the Ryder Cup. So what we get
- 1:02Speaker 3: from Flynn today, if it's actually towards this show will
- 1:05Speaker 3: be lend.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Yeah, what yep? What'd you say? Exactly? Now?
- 1:09Speaker 4: I'm super fired up to be here at Rals's.
- 1:12Speaker 2: But yes, you are right right here. We got I don't.
- 1:15Speaker 4: Know, I'm gonna guess forty eight inch TV right in
- 1:18Speaker 4: front of us.
- 1:19Speaker 2: We got the Ryder Cup.
- 1:20Speaker 4: Action on patriotism at an all time high.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Right now.
- 1:24Speaker 4: I feel like I'm watching Rocky four, a montage of
- 1:29Speaker 4: Rocky Bubba running up the mountains right now, all the energy,
- 1:32Speaker 4: all the fields. Ryder Cup started this morning, So I
- 1:34Speaker 4: really hope you have a great show today, Jake Football Friday,
- 1:38Speaker 4: and it just might be a watch party for me
- 1:41Speaker 4: just sitting here. But yeah, I just started this morning,
- 1:43Speaker 4: and man, I was watching driving in, not driving in,
- 1:45Speaker 4: I was parked. Wasn't doing this While I was driving.
- 1:47Speaker 4: I was watching some clips from Bethpage Black up there
- 1:51Speaker 4: in New York and just getting the energy flowing. There
- 1:55Speaker 4: was a crowd of thousands of people there in the
- 1:58Speaker 4: Pitch Black.
- 2:00Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 2:00Speaker 4: It was probably four thirty five in the morning their time.
- 2:03Speaker 4: They were chanting USA. They're playing all this loud music
- 2:07Speaker 4: and they are going nuts. It was probably ninety minutes
- 2:09Speaker 4: at least before the first tea time. And of what
- 2:12Speaker 4: does what happens on the first tea time? Bryson D.
- 2:15Speaker 4: Chambeau for a team USA steps up, nearly drives the
- 2:19Speaker 4: green on the first hole, Birdie's the first hole. America
- 2:23Speaker 4: went up won nothing right there first, haul all the energy.
- 2:27Speaker 4: I don't have any jealousy at all. It's just my
- 2:29Speaker 4: bucket list sport, sporting.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Event in the world anyway. Yeah, the fans, but yeah,
- 2:35Speaker 3: the fans have been great. Roy was trying to button
- 2:38Speaker 3: on know if you saw this club, was trying to
- 2:39Speaker 3: button like one of his buttons on his shirt or whatever.
- 2:41Speaker 2: One of the fans like, you don't need a top
- 2:43Speaker 2: button to choke. It's so good. Roy. Laddy's like, as
- 2:47Speaker 2: it going, it's pretty good, pretty good.
- 2:50Speaker 4: So you know they're in New York, so you know
- 2:52Speaker 4: that hecklers are going to be destroying. Okay, we can
- 2:55Speaker 4: like these golfers, we can like Victor Hovelin, we can
- 2:59Speaker 4: like Roy.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Macero, who's your guy, Tommy Fleet, Tommy Fleet.
- 3:03Speaker 4: Well, we can like all these guys every single week,
- 3:05Speaker 4: but this week they're the enemy.
- 3:07Speaker 2: We hate them.
- 3:08Speaker 3: So as you can tell, Flinn's gonna be giving you updates.
- 3:12Speaker 3: And if he just starts making noises and chanting and
- 3:14Speaker 3: hooping and hollering, that's just him watching the Ryder Cup.
- 3:18Speaker 4: So yeah, like, don't be startled, Yes, don't be startled.
- 3:22Speaker 4: Jake throws a question over to me, and all you
- 3:25Speaker 4: hear is crickets in the background. Well, you know what,
- 3:28Speaker 4: Scottie Scheffler might be having a long putt for Birdie.
- 3:31Speaker 4: Who knows.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll keep you updated, don't you worry. Guys.
- 3:36Speaker 3: I think like most people that even you know, very
- 3:40Speaker 3: rarely watch golf, we'll watch this, right. It's one of
- 3:43Speaker 3: those Yeah, this is one of those events. I so
- 3:46Speaker 3: you know, golf, can you know, sometimes gets the stigma
- 3:48Speaker 3: of being quiet and a little stuffy blah blah blah.
- 3:52Speaker 4: But not this event. It's not all those things because
- 3:55Speaker 4: there is a lot of fanfare of golf. Is got
- 3:58Speaker 4: a lot of youths up there, a lot of energy.
- 4:00Speaker 4: But for this event, this is the one event where
- 4:03Speaker 4: you're going to see the players asking for crowd noise.
- 4:07Speaker 4: You're gonna see them running up and down the field.
- 4:10Speaker 4: You're gonna see hecklers, You're gonna see it. Just it's
- 4:12Speaker 4: not one of those events. It is an event that
- 4:15Speaker 4: everybody's fighting for their country. Well, the europe are fighting
- 4:18Speaker 4: for a cold continent, but we're fighting for a country.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Still, yesterday asked the question, I'm like, wait a minute,
- 4:25Speaker 3: So they get all of Europe and against us, Okay, they.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Gotta make it fair, you know. Cool.
- 4:31Speaker 3: So, but it's one of those Canadians are sitting over
- 4:34Speaker 3: there like, hey, we lay golf too.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Hey exactly exactly.
- 4:38Speaker 4: So uh yeah, and I think that even sometimes the
- 4:40Speaker 4: players will get out, So there's always a couple of
- 4:42Speaker 4: players that aren't playing at a certain time. So like
- 4:45Speaker 4: there's gonna be matches this morning, there'll be matches this
- 4:47Speaker 4: afternoon then and then it's up to the captains that
- 4:50Speaker 4: decide who those matches are.
- 4:51Speaker 2: So there's gonna be golfers that have like off times.
- 4:53Speaker 4: Okay, we're off this morning, and so they'll go up
- 4:56Speaker 4: and pump the crowd up.
- 4:57Speaker 2: They might even get a couple.
- 4:58Speaker 4: Of beers and chug him right there in front of
- 5:01Speaker 4: the crowd, just to get the crowd pumped up. But it's, uh,
- 5:04Speaker 4: they feed on it, man, They feed on the crowd.
- 5:06Speaker 4: And it's one of those it's like a it's like
- 5:08Speaker 4: going to a normal like college football sporting event with
- 5:12Speaker 4: the with the crowd, noise, the energy that brings, not
- 5:14Speaker 4: like a normal golf event.
- 5:16Speaker 3: All right, So look, you got me excited, way more
- 5:19Speaker 3: excited than I ever would be for Yeah, I mean,
- 5:22Speaker 3: if it's Team USA, just like the Mighty.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Ducks too taught us. Yeah, I don't I don't care
- 5:26Speaker 2: Team USA and we can go all the way.
- 5:29Speaker 4: And we can go all the way, and I don't
- 5:30Speaker 4: care if USA is playing Europe and pencil breaks. Yep,
- 5:33Speaker 4: your word, cheering for him. Yeah, we're gonna watch it
- 5:35Speaker 4: and there's gonna be a lot of juice.
- 5:36Speaker 3: All right, So we'll update you throughout the show, no
- 5:40Speaker 3: question about it, as we get you ready.
- 5:42Speaker 2: For the football weekend.
- 5:44Speaker 3: It is the LSU Tigers traveling to Oxford, Mississippi, as
- 5:48Speaker 3: we know, to take on Old miss. You've got the
- 5:51Speaker 3: Saints traveling to Buffalo to take on the Buffalo Bills
- 5:55Speaker 3: to an upheel battle to say the least. But we'll
- 5:57Speaker 3: continue to break it all down. LSU did get some
- 6:00Speaker 3: unfortunate injury news. Gabe Reliford going to be out torn
- 6:03Speaker 3: rotator cuff. Somebody that know very well. Played the same
- 6:07Speaker 3: high school as Rele for there and he was really
- 6:10Speaker 3: really starting to come into his own and he had
- 6:13Speaker 3: a good freshman year.
- 6:13Speaker 2: So don't get me wrong, he played well as a freshman,
- 6:15Speaker 2: but you.
- 6:15Speaker 3: Could see he was somebody that was about to kind.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Of turn that corner.
- 6:19Speaker 3: But again for LSU, the job that they did building
- 6:24Speaker 3: to depth on this roster. You got some you know,
- 6:28Speaker 3: some guys over there on the edge, right, You've got
- 6:31Speaker 3: a lot of players. Now he was one of them,
- 6:33Speaker 3: There's no.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Doubt about that. So you'll have to have somebody step up.
- 6:35Speaker 3: But you know, in years past when the roster wasn't
- 6:38Speaker 3: built as well, when it wasn't as solid of a foundation,
- 6:42Speaker 3: like an injury like this would certainly hurt a little
- 6:45Speaker 3: bit more now.
- 6:45Speaker 2: About one year ago, yeah, exactly.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Now, Look, he's a good player, but he had to
- 6:50Speaker 3: play as a freshman because like you didn't have the
- 6:52Speaker 3: bodies at that position. So we'll see what that does
- 6:55Speaker 3: for LSU. Again, Gabe Reeler for not a starter at
- 6:57Speaker 3: the edge position, but certainly contributed and he's going to
- 7:00Speaker 3: be out there. I think one of the injuries Matt
- 7:03Speaker 3: that we're going to pay attention to, at least for me,
- 7:05Speaker 3: like in pregame when I'm down there on the field,
- 7:07Speaker 3: is going to be Caden Durham. He's got an ankle issue.
- 7:11Speaker 3: We were told it's not a high ankle, so he
- 7:13Speaker 3: does have a slight chance chance to make a shot
- 7:17Speaker 3: at it. Yeah, to play in the game, and so
- 7:18Speaker 3: they're going to go. I think through pregame warm ups
- 7:21Speaker 3: with him, and he'll be a game time decision.
- 7:22Speaker 2: And again ole.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Mess the last dead last rush defense in the sec
- 7:27Speaker 3: by thirty yards.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Yep.
- 7:31Speaker 4: Uh. So the ankles are So we have doctor Stephen
- 7:34Speaker 4: et Thers every week and we've we're learning a lot
- 7:37Speaker 4: about different injuries, but more so I feel like we're
- 7:40Speaker 4: wanting to We're learning a lot more about the management
- 7:42Speaker 4: of injuries and how they rush. And every every single
- 7:46Speaker 4: case is so personalized, like one ankle injury isn't the same.
- 7:50Speaker 2: There's no ankle injury created equals.
- 7:52Speaker 4: So it's all about managing load management, pain management and
- 7:57Speaker 4: can we pay, can we play with the pain? Can
- 8:00Speaker 4: we do something, whether it's oral medication, whether it's a local,
- 8:05Speaker 4: local something maybe involving a needle. Can we do something
- 8:08Speaker 4: that's not gonna harm the student athlete for next week
- 8:12Speaker 4: or his future or whatever it is.
- 8:13Speaker 2: So it's everything's great.
- 8:15Speaker 4: So we'll be really interesting to see in pregame if
- 8:19Speaker 4: he's got the pads on, he's strapped up, if he's
- 8:21Speaker 4: warming up and he's getting ready to play. So yeah,
- 8:25Speaker 4: all eyes kind of on that says we have a
- 8:28Speaker 4: we got to get the running game going, And I
- 8:30Speaker 4: think that is the that's gonna be the theme of
- 8:33Speaker 4: this LSU team as we go forward in the weeks.
- 8:37Speaker 4: Every single week, we're gonna be talking about that running
- 8:39Speaker 4: game because we know what we can do. We know
- 8:41Speaker 4: the potential of what we can do when the ball
- 8:45Speaker 4: we have the forward pass going, But if there's no
- 8:48Speaker 4: threat of the running game, it's gonna be a lot
- 8:49Speaker 4: harder to make those forward passes.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Yeah, So Juwan Johnson obviously would be your lead back.
- 8:55Speaker 3: If Katan Droves not able to go in this game,
- 8:57Speaker 3: and you'd have Harlan Barry, we wou'd have Caleb Jack
- 9:00Speaker 3: And that's the rotation that those are the three guys
- 9:03Speaker 3: that would be available.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Now. Xavion Thomas, we've seen him.
- 9:06Speaker 3: He'll motion into the backfield, he'll run counter, he'll run zone,
- 9:08Speaker 3: he'll run anything. You've seen him. Use berryon Brown, They've
- 9:12Speaker 3: they've used Anderson. So they'll try to create some type
- 9:16Speaker 3: of a run game, not just from the running backs.
- 9:18Speaker 3: But it is a major injury whenever you want to
- 9:21Speaker 3: try to attack an old miss rush defense that has
- 9:24Speaker 3: just not been good at all and if you're down
- 9:26Speaker 3: your lead back, so certainly in the pregame we'll be
- 9:29Speaker 3: seeing what Caden Durham looks like. Although Juwan Johnson did
- 9:32Speaker 3: look sudden. I think last week against Southeastern broke a
- 9:35Speaker 3: couple tackles, had a couple of nice touchdown.
- 9:37Speaker 4: He looked really good, his vision looked really good, and
- 9:39Speaker 4: he you know, when you get a young running back
- 9:42Speaker 4: in there, you never really know how they're going to
- 9:45Speaker 4: You know, they could go in there and run like
- 9:48Speaker 4: a bat out of hell and they look great, or
- 9:50Speaker 4: they could be.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Hesitant, and so it's really good to see him hit
- 9:53Speaker 2: the whole bit.
- 9:53Speaker 4: I would expect this week no matter no matter how
- 9:57Speaker 4: if Kan Durham ends up playing a little bit, maybe
- 9:59Speaker 4: he gets ten to twelve or something like that, I
- 10:01Speaker 4: think that would be a I think that'd be a win,
- 10:03Speaker 4: right if he could get if we could get him
- 10:05Speaker 4: to that point.
- 10:05Speaker 2: But either way, whether he gets that.
- 10:07Speaker 4: Or he doesn't, I think we see an expanded role
- 10:09Speaker 4: for Xavion as well in the In the running Game.
- 10:12Speaker 3: All right, we will take our first break of the show.
- 10:15Speaker 3: We've got a lot coming back your way. We got
- 10:17Speaker 3: a pontoo parlay to put together. We got with a
- 10:20Speaker 3: lot of energy today. Yeah, what's the ticket to play
- 10:22Speaker 3: where we just make fun.
- 10:23Speaker 2: Of Matt for getting them all wrong?
- 10:25Speaker 3: A lot still coming your way here, stay locked in
- 10:28Speaker 3: with us on otb.

- 12:58Speaker 2: That's right.
- 12:59Speaker 4: And if you're feeling maybe under the weather, and if so,
- 13:01Speaker 4: go see them because like I have you ever been
- 13:03Speaker 4: curious about like IV therapy man straight to the veins
- 13:07Speaker 4: right talking about vitamins, you're talking about straight hydration. It
- 13:11Speaker 4: works immediately, So go see them right there on Jefferson
- 13:13Speaker 4: near Bocage. They can get you set up if you've

- 13:20Speaker 4: about thirty forty five minutes tops. And it's incredible. So
- 13:24Speaker 4: go see him. Go float IV.
- 13:26Speaker 3: All right, as we continue talking, a little old miss
- 13:28Speaker 3: n LSU Trenda at Chambliss is going to be one
- 13:31Speaker 3: of the major storylines. He is going to be the
- 13:33Speaker 3: starting quarterback in this game, and so far he has
- 13:36Speaker 3: been successful in this season. He has thrown for seven
- 13:39Speaker 3: hundred and nineteen yards. He's completing sixty eight percent of
- 13:43Speaker 3: his passes. He has four touchdowns to no interceptions. He's
- 13:47Speaker 3: also eleven point six yards per attempt, so big plays.
- 13:51Speaker 2: Let's see what he's.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Done so far this year and who he's done it against.
- 13:55Speaker 3: Against Georgia State, came in mob of duty four to
- 13:58Speaker 3: six fifty nine yards in a score.
- 14:00Speaker 2: He did not play against Kentucky, Okay.
- 14:03Speaker 3: Against Arkansas, he comes in twenty one of twenty nine
- 14:06Speaker 3: three hundred and fifty three yards seven seventy two percent
- 14:12Speaker 3: completion percentage over twelve yards per attempt, had to score
- 14:16Speaker 3: no interceptions against two Lane. A week he goes seventeen
- 14:18Speaker 3: of twenty seven three h seven through the air, sixty
- 14:21Speaker 3: three percent completion percentage, two scores, no interceptions. Running the football,
- 14:25Speaker 3: he had eight yards against Georgia State. Against Kentucky, he
- 14:28Speaker 3: didn't throw a pass, but he did have a couple
- 14:30Speaker 3: of runs. He had three carries for thirteen yards against Arkansas,
- 14:35Speaker 3: fifteen carries for sixty two yards and two scores, and
- 14:37Speaker 3: then last week against two Lane it was fourteen for
- 14:40Speaker 3: one to twelve eight yards per Carrie had a long
- 14:43Speaker 3: forty one. So he has been dynamic. I'll give him
- 14:45Speaker 3: credit when he's been in there. Do I think he's
- 14:48Speaker 3: faced a defense that he's about to face an LSU
- 14:51Speaker 3: not even close. Arkansas is almost dead last in every
- 14:54Speaker 3: single sec category. I don't think Kentucky has any game
- 14:57Speaker 3: changers on that defense. And again he just ran the
- 15:00Speaker 3: football in that game, no pass attempts for him.
- 15:03Speaker 2: The two lane defense isn't bad. They're okay.
- 15:05Speaker 3: They're in the middle of the pack as far as
- 15:07Speaker 3: the American and the American standings and where they're at there.
- 15:10Speaker 3: But he's not facing LSU defense right now. Is it
- 15:13Speaker 3: a challenge for LSU's defense. Yeah, it is good offense,
- 15:16Speaker 3: but Lshue so far on defense has been smothering.
- 15:19Speaker 2: L show on defense so far has gotten after.
- 15:21Speaker 3: Every quarterback they've Kay Klubnik and DJ Lagway, right, the
- 15:25Speaker 3: guys we hyped up in the preseason. They played really
- 15:29Speaker 3: well against them, right, and look, those quarterbacks have not
- 15:32Speaker 3: played like we thought they would. But Lshu's been up
- 15:34Speaker 3: for the challenge whenever they've been challenged by anybody. Louisiana
- 15:39Speaker 3: Tag in the fourth quarter, you're scratching and clawing and
- 15:42Speaker 3: fighting because you're like, you don't want them to score
- 15:44Speaker 3: against Southeastern. When they scored finally last week, you saw
- 15:48Speaker 3: how upset the starting defense was, right they wanted.
- 15:51Speaker 2: To shut out.
- 15:52Speaker 3: It's a different LSU defense than we've had here in
- 15:54Speaker 3: a very very long time. Trindad Chamblis has been great,
- 15:58Speaker 3: but he's about to face something that he hasn't seen
- 16:00Speaker 3: yet and I cannot wait to see how it plays out.
- 16:04Speaker 4: So two starts for Trinidad last two weeks and has
- 16:10Speaker 4: played really well statistically, really really impressive watching the tape,
- 16:17Speaker 4: watching going back I Arkansas is one of the worst
- 16:22Speaker 4: SEC defenses I've I remember watching. I don't know statistically
- 16:27Speaker 4: how they really are. I'm just talking about from a
- 16:29Speaker 4: personnel standpoint, From an adjustment standpoint, not very good. Trinidad Chambliss,
- 16:36Speaker 4: he does very He's very fast, and Elane Kiffin is
- 16:41Speaker 4: a master of trying to get his playmakers in an
- 16:45Speaker 4: advantageous position from a numbers perspective to be able to
- 16:48Speaker 4: make plays and to use their skill set, and that
- 16:51Speaker 4: is exactly what he's doing with Trinidad. He is using
- 16:55Speaker 4: a lot of zone reads, not just like your traditional
- 16:58Speaker 4: zone read with your running back, where they're they're letting
- 17:02Speaker 4: the end go and they're zoning up to the wheel
- 17:03Speaker 4: linebacker and the mic and he's reading the defense dead.
- 17:06Speaker 4: But they're doing it out of shifts, motions, jet sweep
- 17:10Speaker 4: read options, jet sweet read options, pitch it to the
- 17:12Speaker 4: back or run the ball, a lot of creative ways
- 17:17Speaker 4: to let Trinidad, read what the defense is doing, and
- 17:22Speaker 4: then give them multiple options. It's just like a defense
- 17:26Speaker 4: training and practicing for an old school triple option. You
- 17:29Speaker 4: have to be very disciplined on defense. You have to
- 17:32Speaker 4: know your assignment, stick to your assignment, and no matter
- 17:35Speaker 4: what kind of eye candy they're showing you, no matter
- 17:38Speaker 4: how how amazing of a play, you think, you can
- 17:41Speaker 4: go hit Trinidad right now. If he's not the person
- 17:44Speaker 4: you're supposed to hit, you have to stay on your assignment.
- 17:47Speaker 4: So you have to avoid the temptation to leave your
- 17:51Speaker 4: responsibility in an attempt to try to make a play,
- 17:54Speaker 4: because that's exactly what Lane Kiffen wants you to do.
- 17:57Speaker 4: He wants you to get out of position because those
- 18:00Speaker 4: are the kind of.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Plays he's drawn up. Now.
- 18:02Speaker 4: It is surprising to me that he has had so
- 18:05Speaker 4: many passing yards in all these games, because I don't
- 18:10Speaker 4: think he is the best passer.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Okay, so I.
- 18:13Speaker 4: Don't think he is. Now he has known for a
- 18:15Speaker 4: lot of yards. I just don't think he's a very
- 18:16Speaker 4: accurate accurate passer.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Now he's he has.
- 18:21Speaker 4: He's excelled recently in the passing game because of that
- 18:24Speaker 4: threat to run the ball. Defenses really haven't had the
- 18:27Speaker 4: personnel against Ole Miss to just be able to line
- 18:31Speaker 4: up with a normal with a normal box, the normal
- 18:33Speaker 4: amount of people in the box and stop their attack.
- 18:36Speaker 4: So they've had to load the box with extra people,
- 18:39Speaker 4: which has given them very easy pickings in the past
- 18:42Speaker 4: in the past game. So I don't think Trinidad Chambliss
- 18:46Speaker 4: is good enough to beat this LSU defense.
- 18:48Speaker 2: There are issues.
- 18:49Speaker 4: LSU has to play well, but if they continue to
- 18:52Speaker 4: play like we've seen each and every week, I mean,
- 18:54Speaker 4: we have guys playing last week against Southeastern harder than
- 18:56Speaker 4: anybody's ever played a directional cool. You like the effort
- 19:01Speaker 4: that they're giving, so we know it's gonna be there.
- 19:03Speaker 4: We know we have the talent, we know we have
- 19:05Speaker 4: the speed to match up with with Trinidad's legs. Yeah,
- 19:11Speaker 4: I think they're going to stop that. And he has
- 19:14Speaker 4: not shown me that he can really like read a.
- 19:16Speaker 3: Fool, even though what you want him to have to
- 19:18Speaker 3: do absolutely make him beat him, make you if you
- 19:22Speaker 3: lose to Old Miss and Chamblis like it has to
- 19:24Speaker 3: be because he beats you going to his progressions, making
- 19:27Speaker 3: throws that you didn't believe.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Maybe he can make right it like that has to be.
- 19:31Speaker 4: He's not going to beat you with his legs, right,
- 19:32Speaker 4: LSU like Blake Baker is too good.
- 19:35Speaker 2: So Lane Kiffin, what does he like to do?
- 19:37Speaker 4: He likes to set up, set up, set up, set up,
- 19:39Speaker 4: and then try to hit you with that setup and
- 19:41Speaker 4: hit you with a haymaker.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Right. So Blake Baker.
- 19:44Speaker 4: Knows that, right, We we trust and Blake Baker we trust, right,
- 19:49Speaker 4: And he's got the personnel and the and the speed.
- 19:51Speaker 2: So make Trinidad beat you with his arm.
- 19:53Speaker 4: Make him have to go through first, second, third check
- 19:56Speaker 4: down because I don't think he can do it. And
- 19:58Speaker 4: when he does do it, I don't. I think he's
- 20:00Speaker 4: very accurate. Now, if guys are if a team's loading
- 20:03Speaker 4: the box and there's a corner route running ride open.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Yeah he can hit that. He can hit it all day.
- 20:09Speaker 2: But that is not he has not faced an LSU defense.
- 20:12Speaker 4: So I actually really like this matchup for LSU's defense.
- 20:16Speaker 4: I really do. And I know the success. I know
- 20:19Speaker 4: he's thrown for over three hundred yards on both of
- 20:21Speaker 4: his starts. I know he's run for like one hundred plus.
- 20:23Speaker 2: I get it. I don't really care.
- 20:25Speaker 4: Yeah, LSU's defense is a nightmare matchup for him.
- 20:30Speaker 3: We always talk about the Old Miss offense, and let's
- 20:32Speaker 3: take the last two games out, because they are a
- 20:34Speaker 3: team that does want to run.
- 20:35Speaker 2: The football first.
- 20:36Speaker 3: And that's why we're so adamant about, Hey, you got
- 20:38Speaker 3: to stop the run. If you stop the run and
- 20:40Speaker 3: you make him become a true passer, that is going
- 20:43Speaker 3: to behoove you. And so when you look at the
- 20:45Speaker 3: Old Miss running game and it look it's very diverse.
- 20:48Speaker 3: And that's one thing I give him a lot of
- 20:50Speaker 3: credit for a lot of people just assume a lot
- 20:52Speaker 3: with the Old Miss offense. In the last two games, Matt,
- 20:55Speaker 3: they've had seventy seven runs and it's been a combination.
- 20:58Speaker 3: You've had three percent outside zone, you've had twenty seven
- 21:02Speaker 3: percent inside zone. You've had a man scheme thirty nine
- 21:04Speaker 3: percent of the time, you've had power twelve percent of
- 21:06Speaker 3: the time, you've had counter nine percent of the time,
- 21:10Speaker 3: and you've had pull lead six percent of the time.
- 21:12Speaker 3: So my point in bringing that up is it is
- 21:14Speaker 3: a very diverse run game. It is not your Hey,
- 21:17Speaker 3: we're just gonna run zone read and that's really going
- 21:19Speaker 3: to be our only run that we have up and look,
- 21:21Speaker 3: you know at times LSU is falling into that over
- 21:23Speaker 3: the last couple of years now when you had Jay
- 21:24Speaker 3: and Daniels, the match changes and it's like, Okay, I
- 21:26Speaker 3: get it. I get why you only run inside zone
- 21:29Speaker 3: because he can pull it and go eighty five like
- 21:30Speaker 3: he did against Florida. But this old Miss offense, like
- 21:34Speaker 3: they're going to try to get the running game going
- 21:36Speaker 3: however they can. They're going to try different runs until
- 21:39Speaker 3: they feel like they found something that can be.
- 21:41Speaker 2: A weakness for you.
- 21:42Speaker 4: Yeah, and and a lot of it's quarterback runs with
- 21:44Speaker 4: Trinida Chambliss like and you watch the.
- 21:46Speaker 3: Films those Powers encounters are Q Power, Q Town.
- 21:49Speaker 2: Yeah. I saw them run out of ye. I saw
- 21:51Speaker 2: them running zone read, which I've never seen this before.
- 21:54Speaker 4: A zone read and a five no tight ends in
- 21:56Speaker 4: the box, so it's just a five down line and
- 21:57Speaker 4: there's no like there's no tight end on the left
- 21:59Speaker 4: or right. They ran a zone read off the end,
- 22:01Speaker 4: but the tackle was pulling to this side like as
- 22:04Speaker 4: a as a like a power lead guy as a tackle.
- 22:07Speaker 2: That's interesting.
- 22:08Speaker 3: Yeah, you don't see many pullers on zone run.
- 22:10Speaker 4: A huge shocker. It didn't work but so it was weird.
- 22:14Speaker 4: It's like kind of a kind of like a look
- 22:16Speaker 4: how smart I am type of play by the offensive
- 22:18Speaker 4: line price probably, but they.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Do and they run.
- 22:20Speaker 4: They'll run a lot of quarterback leads sweeps outside and
- 22:24Speaker 4: then they'll hit you with a fake lead sweep counter
- 22:27Speaker 4: to the other side. So they do a lot of
- 22:29Speaker 4: creative things. I mean, for all, like this reputation that
- 22:33Speaker 4: Lane Kiffin has. We know that he wants to run
- 22:37Speaker 4: the ball and he's a creative run game designer.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Yeah, and he's not afraid to try something. Yeah for
- 22:42Speaker 2: the first time, right, I've never seen that either film.
- 22:45Speaker 2: He's not afraid to try anything.
- 22:47Speaker 4: But you know he's uh, we've all seen the clip
- 22:50Speaker 4: of Lane Kiffin when he was the O seed Alabama
- 22:52Speaker 4: of the I think it was two or maybe it
- 22:55Speaker 4: was Jalen Hurts, I can't remember. Like the play action
- 22:57Speaker 4: in the post and he's walking down the field with
- 22:59Speaker 4: his hands up like he he loves the setup and
- 23:01Speaker 4: he knows the exactly.
- 23:04Speaker 2: He's got his arms up like he knows.
- 23:06Speaker 3: Yeah, that's his favorite part of it.
- 23:09Speaker 4: That's his fl like I can only imagine, like that's
- 23:11Speaker 4: his favorite part as a coach. Is setting somebody up
- 23:14Speaker 4: and then running something off of that setup. He gets
- 23:17Speaker 4: the satisfaction from that. So look for that throughout the game.
- 23:21Speaker 4: And it could be subtle something that we're running this
- 23:23Speaker 4: jet sweep, jets sweep, and all of a sudden it's
- 23:25Speaker 4: a jet sweet reverse counter throat, Like it's just he
- 23:29Speaker 4: wants to do a setup, and you're gonna look for.
- 23:32Speaker 2: What you don't want to.
- 23:32Speaker 4: See this week is let's use events, get undisciplined and
- 23:36Speaker 4: you see lane Kiffin's arms go up before the past
- 23:39Speaker 4: has even been thrown. So but I'm excited about it.
- 23:43Speaker 4: I think, you know, the game could come down to
- 23:47Speaker 4: the chess match between Blake Baker, lane Kiffin's trickery, the setup.
- 23:53Speaker 4: What kind of trick play can he because that's the
- 23:56Speaker 4: only way that I think that they'll be able to
- 23:59Speaker 4: be explosive.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Have been score on this defense.
- 24:01Speaker 4: Now, Okay, they could have a good drive, they could
- 24:03Speaker 4: have a little they could it could be a mistackle
- 24:05Speaker 4: and Trendyd makes a good run. But from a big
- 24:08Speaker 4: explosive play, I think the only way they're gonna do
- 24:10Speaker 4: it is that set up trick play. So look for
- 24:12Speaker 4: that chess match between Blake Baker, Lane Kiffin, and can
- 24:16Speaker 4: he keep them our defense just one enough to not
- 24:20Speaker 4: get hit, not get CounterPunch with one of those trick plays.
- 24:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll be interested to see who they try to
- 24:25Speaker 3: do that too as well, because when you look at
- 24:27Speaker 3: the defensive backfield and Delayane and Halsey and Cooley, those
- 24:29Speaker 3: guys play a lot of football, right they've kind of.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Seen all the things that we're talking around right now. PJ.
- 24:36Speaker 3: Williams playing a lot of football, but he's only a
- 24:38Speaker 3: sophomore all right now.
- 24:40Speaker 2: DJ Pickett is an alien.
- 24:42Speaker 3: That guy like he's gonna play football for as long
- 24:44Speaker 3: as he wants to play football. Like when you see
- 24:47Speaker 3: him walking around and like, yeah, you're not from this
- 24:48Speaker 3: earth because nobody looks like you has the speed and
- 24:52Speaker 3: size and the smarts that he has as a freshman.
- 24:54Speaker 3: So he's a very very big time player for LSU
- 24:59Speaker 3: and the counting on him as a freshman. But I
- 25:01Speaker 3: wonder if he gets in if Lane Kibbin's like, all right,
- 25:04Speaker 3: I got to test this freshman, right, I gotta try
- 25:06Speaker 3: to double move this freshman. Like, I wonder how intricate
- 25:09Speaker 3: they're going to get with some of those shots that
- 25:11Speaker 3: they take because they're going to take them and they're
- 25:12Speaker 3: going to set it up, like I wonder if they're like, Okay,
- 25:14Speaker 3: let's try one of the young guys, because we don't
- 25:16Speaker 3: feel like we can get Delane. Like, Delane's been really
- 25:18Speaker 3: good this year. He's played as well as any corner
- 25:20Speaker 3: in America so far this year. Let's see even though
- 25:23Speaker 3: DJ Pickett is, I truly believe he's gonna be like
- 25:26Speaker 3: an all SEC all American type guy.
- 25:28Speaker 2: Let's see if we can get him. Let's see if
- 25:30Speaker 2: we can get PJ.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Woodland maybe to bite on the slugo that we talked
- 25:32Speaker 3: about yesterday.
- 25:33Speaker 2: And it might be one of those situations. Let's play
- 25:35Speaker 2: some chess, not checkers.
- 25:37Speaker 4: Blake Baker's like, all right, I'm gonna put DJ Pickett
- 25:39Speaker 4: in and I'm going to sell him up because I
- 25:41Speaker 4: think Lank Kippen might try to attack him, and I
- 25:43Speaker 4: kind of want that, Yeause, like you said, yeah, the
- 25:45Speaker 4: dudes an alien and he can make a place. So hey,
- 25:48Speaker 4: let's let's try to make Lane react to us, right
- 25:53Speaker 4: of us react to them. Let's give him. Let's like
- 25:55Speaker 4: dangle a little fruit in front of him. Let's dangle
- 25:57Speaker 4: a freshman out there and see what he wants to do.
- 25:59Speaker 4: See if you want to said tack them.
- 26:03Speaker 2: It's gonna be the matchup.
- 26:04Speaker 3: It is the matchup that we can't wait to watch,
- 26:06Speaker 3: and it's Lane Kiffin versus Blake Baker. Right before we
- 26:10Speaker 3: take a break, it is almost game day here in Louisiana.
- 26:13Speaker 3: And just like your team needs the right playbook, you
- 26:15Speaker 3: need the right checking account. Campus Federal Credit Union has

- 27:18Speaker 2: at you you are. I mean, gosh, I'm going to
- 27:20Speaker 2: turn you into a sports guy.
- 27:21Speaker 4: Yet, no big deal. I'm like an encyclopedia over here.
- 27:25Speaker 2: No, let's don't celebrate it.
- 27:26Speaker 3: All right, let's go to break more OTB when we
- 27:28Speaker 3: come back here live from Rouses on this football Friday.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Off the bench. All right, good All Star toyto vat

- 27:37Speaker 3: I knew leasing renting, and you might be thinking, Man,
- 27:40Speaker 3: I'm going to Oxford. I really wish I would have
- 27:42Speaker 3: rented a vehicle from All Star. Listening to OTB, they
- 27:44Speaker 3: talk about it all the time, but it's just too late.
- 27:46Speaker 2: It is not too late.
- 27:48Speaker 3: I mean you literally can call miss Lisa Sessions right
- 27:51Speaker 3: now in that rental department. Hey, here's what I need.
- 27:54Speaker 3: Here's what I want. I'm going to Oxford. I need
- 27:56Speaker 3: a vehicle. I need something bigger because I got all
- 27:58Speaker 3: this tailgating equipment. Our man, we don't have the kids.
- 28:01Speaker 3: You get a little getaway. We don't need to bring
- 28:03Speaker 3: the big, old, big body, full sized suv. Do you
- 28:05Speaker 3: have a sedan hybrid we can use. They've got you
- 28:08Speaker 3: all Star Toyda Batrouge dot com.
- 28:10Speaker 2: Oh no, Jay, go noo.
- 28:12Speaker 4: Man Like you want me to rent a car from
- 28:14Speaker 4: a dealership, it's gonna be crazy expensive.
- 28:16Speaker 2: It's gotta be nah, it's not.
- 28:19Speaker 4: Per day rental price is as good or better than
- 28:22Speaker 4: those big box car rental places at the airport. So
- 28:25Speaker 4: don't worry about this. Guys, go to Toyota. Go to
- 28:27Speaker 4: All Star Toyota Baton Rouge to rent your car right now.
- 28:30Speaker 4: Go call them, go vivi them all Star Toyota of
- 28:32Speaker 4: Baton Rouge dot com.
- 28:44Speaker 2: You need.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Tigers turn talkers. This is off the bench, all.
- 29:02Speaker 2: Right, welcome back in. It is OTB.
- 29:04Speaker 3: We are live here from Rouses on this football Friday,
- 29:09Speaker 3: Football Friday.
- 29:10Speaker 2: But let me tell you something.
- 29:11Speaker 3: The guy to my left is really going through it
- 29:14Speaker 3: on this golf action we've got on the TV right
- 29:17Speaker 3: in front of us. He's talking to the TV. He's
- 29:19Speaker 3: trying to wield the putt into the bottom of the
- 29:21Speaker 3: cup there. It hasn't worked so far, for him yet,
- 29:24Speaker 3: but we'll see if.
- 29:24Speaker 2: We can get that done here today.
- 29:25Speaker 4: All right, So we got we got four matches going
- 29:27Speaker 4: off right now. It's a four ball and America leads
- 29:31Speaker 4: two of the matches, up one and then but Europe
- 29:35Speaker 4: they lead to as well, and they kind of started
- 29:37Speaker 4: out pretty hot on those two one of the matches,
- 29:40Speaker 4: Europe set by three already through six. Another match with
- 29:44Speaker 4: Macro and Fluid, they're up two through four. Every time
- 29:47Speaker 4: I'm watching, Europe is making puts right now.
- 29:50Speaker 2: Usa not making a lot of puts right now.
- 29:52Speaker 4: But at the end of the day, it doesn't matter
- 29:55Speaker 4: how many strokes you lose by, it still just counts
- 29:57Speaker 4: as one point. Okay, okay, So again, so it's kind
- 30:01Speaker 4: of tied right now. USA is leading to the four matches,
- 30:05Speaker 4: Europe leading to the four matches.
- 30:07Speaker 2: But by what.
- 30:08Speaker 4: I'm seeing here, everything is going right for Europe right now,
- 30:12Speaker 4: everything is going wrong for USA. So you got to
- 30:15Speaker 4: weather those storms. It's a three day race. You gotta
- 30:19Speaker 4: weather the storm. You gotta we you gotta.
- 30:22Speaker 2: If you're missing and they're hot, you just.
- 30:24Speaker 4: Gotta bend, don't break, then boom, CounterPunch.
- 30:27Speaker 2: We got this.
- 30:28Speaker 3: I do have some good news for LSU football fans.
- 30:31Speaker 3: Paul Finbaum, who right now is on get Up, he
- 30:33Speaker 3: picked Old Miss to beat LSU.
- 30:36Speaker 2: So that is a good sign for your tigers. That's
- 30:38Speaker 2: a great sign. Good. Yeah for him, Yeah, good for him.
- 30:41Speaker 4: I just don't see it. I know what is the
- 30:43Speaker 4: what's the line right now? Ole Miss is favorite?
- 30:45Speaker 2: Correct? Yeah?
- 30:46Speaker 3: It was one and a half the last time I
- 30:47Speaker 3: looked at it. And right now, if LSU wins this game,
- 30:50Speaker 3: they've got a fifty four percent chance to make it
- 30:52Speaker 3: to the.
- 30:53Speaker 2: College Football Playoff.
- 30:54Speaker 3: If they lose this game, that percentage goes down to
- 30:57Speaker 3: twenty two percent. So obviously a massive game for LSU.
- 31:00Speaker 2: Let me ask you this.
- 31:03Speaker 4: Is we're now, I'm trying to I'm gonna ask you
- 31:07Speaker 4: to try to jump in the Vegas odds makers jumping
- 31:10Speaker 4: their brain for a little bit. Do you think that
- 31:13Speaker 4: LSU would be an underdog if Clemson and Florida were
- 31:19Speaker 4: two and two?
- 31:23Speaker 2: No, I don't think they would.
- 31:25Speaker 3: If if Florida would have beaten Miami last week, no,
- 31:28Speaker 3: if Clemson would have beaten Syracuse last week, maybe that
- 31:33Speaker 3: one's a bigger maybe.
- 31:34Speaker 2: I think LSU right now they are getting.
- 31:39Speaker 3: They are getting punished because of the teams that they've
- 31:42Speaker 3: played in what those records I am showing.
- 31:45Speaker 4: Yeah, it's kind of a shame too, because you know,
- 31:47Speaker 4: if you were sitting here in July before the season
- 31:51Speaker 4: he said LSU's gonna be four and oh, we'd be like, awesome,
- 31:57Speaker 4: we're probably two one. Whatever our strength of schedules the
- 32:00Speaker 4: roof right now surely not one of the weakest strength
- 32:02Speaker 4: to schedules so far in the SEC. You wouldn't have
- 32:06Speaker 4: had that on the bingo card so pretty well. But
- 32:09Speaker 4: the odds, it's funny how the odds makers how that
- 32:11Speaker 4: kind of reflects. And now I get like from a
- 32:14Speaker 4: pole perspective of like a voting for the top and
- 32:17Speaker 4: with I think we we went down, we won a
- 32:19Speaker 4: game and we went down a spot in the poles whatever.
- 32:22Speaker 4: Get that because of like the strength to schedule and
- 32:24Speaker 4: how that all plays the perception public perception. But from
- 32:28Speaker 4: you know, we all know that nothing really matters except
- 32:32Speaker 4: for those Vegas odds when people are laying down money.
- 32:35Speaker 4: How big of an impact did that strength to schedule
- 32:37Speaker 4: actually have?
- 32:38Speaker 3: Yeah, And look, I am a card carring member of
- 32:41Speaker 3: meathead Nation, and I think in meathead terms, a lot
- 32:43Speaker 3: and so like for me, I also played the game
- 32:47Speaker 3: long enough to understand, like when you play a team
- 32:50Speaker 3: that also matters, Like, sure, what did that Texas.
- 32:53Speaker 2: Team end up?
- 32:54Speaker 3: Seven and five and twenty nineteen or seven and five
- 32:57Speaker 3: that game in twenty nineteen. I was on the sideline
- 32:59Speaker 3: that entire game. It was actually a lot of fun.
- 33:01Speaker 3: Katie now watching it from the sideline. I don't even
- 33:03Speaker 3: remember how we both got down there.
- 33:05Speaker 2: It's me, Katie and Lee.
- 33:06Speaker 3: Corso watching the watching the game LSU Texas from the sideline.
- 33:10Speaker 3: It was an incredible memory. But like that game was
- 33:14Speaker 3: everything at that time. That was a good football team
- 33:17Speaker 3: at that time, and we're good. They were really good
- 33:19Speaker 3: and the best college team that we've ever seen had
- 33:22Speaker 3: to convert on a third and forever to go and
- 33:25Speaker 3: close that game out.
- 33:26Speaker 2: So it's like when you play these games matter as well.
- 33:28Speaker 3: It's not an excuse for LSU, but that's facts. Like
- 33:31Speaker 3: opening game on the road, he gets Clemson, Okay, well
- 33:33Speaker 3: what that loss do to Clemson?
- 33:34Speaker 2: Okay?
- 33:35Speaker 3: Like for Florida, was Florida looking ahead to LSU. They
- 33:38Speaker 3: lose to South Florida and then LSU handles them.
- 33:40Speaker 2: I understand. I think and they've played They've played three
- 33:43Speaker 2: ranked teams Florida has that they've lost to. Right South,
- 33:45Speaker 2: Florida's been ranked in this season. LSU and Miami certainly
- 33:48Speaker 2: have been.
- 33:49Speaker 3: So it's not making excuses for those teams, but like
- 33:51Speaker 3: when you play those teams that matters, and so like
- 33:55Speaker 3: you're not going to get credit for but still like
- 33:57Speaker 3: you as a coach, you as a player, like you
- 33:59Speaker 3: understand in that moment in that game what it was like.
- 34:02Speaker 3: LSU Florida is a rivalry situation. Now the SEC is
- 34:06Speaker 3: done and took it away from us. Couldn't believe that.
- 34:09Speaker 3: Every year where you go, I know, I know something.
- 34:12Speaker 4: Yeah, we got we got an amazing slate of college
- 34:15Speaker 4: football games. Tomorrow, we got the Saints, gotta beat the
- 34:18Speaker 4: Bills on Sunday, we got the Ryder Cup. USA is
- 34:21Speaker 4: going to actually absolutely stop Team Europe. I want good vibes, Okay,
- 34:26Speaker 4: I don't want to talk about this Florida situation, right,
- 34:28Speaker 4: all right, sure, don't piss me off.
- 34:31Speaker 2: Okay, Oh, carpool my bed.
- 34:34Speaker 3: So there are you on the verge if you're if
- 34:36Speaker 3: you're still in the car a little late?
- 34:38Speaker 2: I think no, no, no, some started eight our our carpool
- 34:43Speaker 2: Dunham seven thirty eight.
- 34:44Speaker 3: Ah okay, see you read the last We're you're starting
- 34:48Speaker 3: at seven forty.
- 34:49Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, class starts at seven forty. Got it?
- 34:52Speaker 3: So sorry, sorry, sorry to the Flynn kids that you
- 34:55Speaker 3: just said that dollar dollar.
- 34:57Speaker 2: In the train on me. I didn't say it. It
- 35:01Speaker 2: was on the edge too. Yeah. Yeah, I say fifty
- 35:04Speaker 2: cents in the jar. Yeah, I'll say it for the dollar. Yeah.
- 35:09Speaker 3: So going back to some of the scheduling stuff into
- 35:13Speaker 3: your original question, Yes, I do think that LSU right
- 35:17Speaker 3: now in their resume is being frowned upon because of
- 35:19Speaker 3: what those teams have done. And I don't think right
- 35:22Speaker 3: now people are respecting what else she's done in those games.
- 35:26Speaker 3: And I think they're right now they're making up narratives
- 35:30Speaker 3: in their own mind and why LSU's not gonna win
- 35:32Speaker 3: this game.
- 35:33Speaker 2: Like it's not just Paul Finebaum.
- 35:35Speaker 3: Which I mean he picks Againstell Show all the time, whatever,
- 35:38Speaker 3: Josh Pate, like some people that cover it nationally like
- 35:41Speaker 3: they are heavy old missing this game. It ain't I
- 35:44Speaker 3: mean multiple people are like I think ole Mis is
- 35:46Speaker 3: gonna win this game and cover easily. I don't see that, right, now,
- 35:50Speaker 3: now this isn't the Homer take. I've seen plenty of
- 35:52Speaker 3: situations where I'm like, I don't know how else she's
- 35:54Speaker 3: gonna find a way.
- 35:55Speaker 2: To win the game today.
- 35:56Speaker 3: But when I look at the individual matchups and I
- 35:58Speaker 3: know it's in Oxford, like that's that that part of it,
- 36:01Speaker 3: I think, else you's able to handle that. But I
- 36:04Speaker 3: look at the matchups and I look at a backup
- 36:06Speaker 3: quarterback who's played really really well. But I look at
- 36:09Speaker 3: where Lshu's really good defensively, I look at where LSU
- 36:12Speaker 3: struggles on offense. Well, that's where Old Miss struggles the
- 36:14Speaker 3: most on defense. So can you have enough success for you?
- 36:19Speaker 3: Maybe you're not going to have that one hundred and
- 36:20Speaker 3: ninety yard total that they're giving up every game, but
- 36:22Speaker 3: can you get one thirty on the ground because you
- 36:25Speaker 3: know garrettus Meyer is going to make plays through the air.
- 36:28Speaker 3: So the matchup for me looks better for LSU than
- 36:32Speaker 3: Old Miss.
- 36:33Speaker 4: The matchup for me, and this isn't a Homer take.
- 36:35Speaker 4: The matchup for me looks really advantageous for LSU. I
- 36:40Speaker 4: think that a lot of these national takes are giving
- 36:43Speaker 4: Lane Kiffen way too much credit.
- 36:48Speaker 2: Great coach.
- 36:49Speaker 4: I want to have a beer with him. I think
- 36:51Speaker 4: he does a lot of really good things. He wants
- 36:53Speaker 4: to run the football first, then throw the football. He's
- 36:55Speaker 4: had good quarterbacks. Jackson dark awesome job. But like I
- 36:59Speaker 4: believe if he's getting way too much credit for being
- 37:03Speaker 4: like an X factor against this this LSU defense, This
- 37:07Speaker 4: LSU defense is really darn good. Yeah, And I don't
- 37:12Speaker 4: see where Old Miss is going to get their points from.
- 37:16Speaker 4: And when I say get their points, I'm not saying
- 37:18Speaker 4: we're gonna they're gonna lay a goose egg, Okay, I'm
- 37:20Speaker 4: just saying how they're going to keep up and be
- 37:22Speaker 4: able to easily cover, Like a lot of these people
- 37:25Speaker 4: are saying. I understand from a strength to schedule standpoint,
- 37:29Speaker 4: the line being where it is and it being a.
- 37:31Speaker 2: Really close matchup at Old Miss.
- 37:34Speaker 1: I just.
- 37:36Speaker 2: There's really easy.
- 37:37Speaker 4: Like the new the new, pretty little shiny thing that
- 37:40Speaker 4: everybody is excited about.
- 37:42Speaker 2: With this backup quarterback.
- 37:43Speaker 4: Having all these big stats and big yards. He has
- 37:46Speaker 4: not faced anybody that even plays in the same league
- 37:48Speaker 4: as this LSU defense, Right, he is going to have issues.
- 37:51Speaker 4: I don't see where they they're gonna get their points from.
- 37:54Speaker 4: And LSU's offense. That is the other optics thing that
- 37:58Speaker 4: has not been very good. So that's probably plays into
- 38:02Speaker 4: a lot of these other people kind of leaving the
- 38:04Speaker 4: bandwagon of LSU because lack of running game, a lack
- 38:09Speaker 4: of explosive plays on offense. And Okay, I get what
- 38:12Speaker 4: we did last week against Southeastern. I'm not really worried
- 38:14Speaker 4: about that. I kind of throw that film out the window.
- 38:18Speaker 4: LSU's got to show up on offense. They have to
- 38:21Speaker 4: be able to run the football and get back to
- 38:24Speaker 4: that explosive nature that we have seen these individual players
- 38:28Speaker 4: do in the past. But on a defensive standpoint, man,
- 38:32Speaker 4: I don't see Returnidda Chambliss and that I think Lane
- 38:35Speaker 4: Kiffin's getting too much credit for being able to do
- 38:38Speaker 4: anything with anybody against any any defense. I just don't
- 38:42Speaker 4: see it happening. All right, So I was wrong once,
- 38:45Speaker 4: but I don't think this week.
- 38:48Speaker 2: Where are you wrong? I think I was wrong one time.
- 38:52Speaker 2: I thought I was wrong one time, but I was mistaken.
- 38:56Speaker 2: So you're wrong twice then overthink this?
- 39:00Speaker 4: Okay, well, just basically spinning facts over here.
- 39:03Speaker 2: All right, we'll take a break.
- 39:05Speaker 3: Hey, when we come back, I want to give you
- 39:06Speaker 3: we keep talking about the LSU defense, we'll take exactly
- 39:09Speaker 3: where they rank in the NC Double A and total defense,
- 39:12Speaker 3: and we'll break down LSU's defense when we come back
- 39:14Speaker 3: here on this Football Friday Live from Rouse's Off the Bench.
- 39:20Speaker 3: All right, go to Russell Pools dot com the website

- 39:41Speaker 3: of start to get the ideas and start to put
- 39:43Speaker 3: them together and then have them come out and you
- 39:45Speaker 3: start chopping it up with them saying, hey, I saw this,
- 39:47Speaker 3: this is what I want. I want this custom and
- 39:49Speaker 3: I want this, and I want that, and I want
- 39:51Speaker 3: every bell and whistle. They can do that, or if

- 39:57Speaker 4: Yeah, And usually when you start a pool project it's
- 40:00Speaker 4: a multistep process. You have to go hire a landscape architect,
- 40:03Speaker 4: a landscape. You've got to do a lot of pieces
- 40:05Speaker 4: that have to come together. With Russell Pools, it's turnkey man.

- 41:15Speaker 2: They are licensed in thirty two states.
- 41:17Speaker 3: They are equipped for projects of any scale anywhere. Go
- 41:20Speaker 3: to their website Palletgroup dot com. Employee owned a relationship
- 41:24Speaker 3: driven again Learn more at paladgroup dot com. All right,
- 41:27Speaker 3: I was looking it up during the break and checking
- 41:30Speaker 3: out some of the stats of the total defenses. That'll
- 41:33Speaker 3: miss his face as far as where they're at in
- 41:36Speaker 3: the NCAA rankings. Okay, Arkansas eighty third in total defense,
- 41:43Speaker 3: the Green Wave one hundred and thirteenth, sure in total defense.
- 41:47Speaker 3: I saw that the Kentucky Wildcats one hundred and fourteenth
- 41:50Speaker 3: in total defense. So eighty third, one hundred and thirteenth,
- 41:55Speaker 3: one hundred and fourteenth, LSU seventeenth. Be it's a it's
- 42:00Speaker 3: a different it's it's a different equation.
- 42:03Speaker 4: Yeah, then they've had and you know what, maybe they
- 42:06Speaker 4: surprise even themselves and they step up the competition and.
- 42:10Speaker 2: Their game steps up.
- 42:11Speaker 4: But the lack of experience they have versus the speed
- 42:16Speaker 4: that they're about to see the overall talent, the energy,
- 42:20Speaker 4: the tenacity that this defense plays with. I challenge anybody
- 42:24Speaker 4: to go go watch film of anybody you know. You said,
- 42:27Speaker 4: we're seventeenth total in the country and defense. I challenge
- 42:29Speaker 4: you to go watch those other sixteen teams that are
- 42:32Speaker 4: allegedly ranked in front of us. I'll tell you, and
- 42:36Speaker 4: you go watch and see if anybody can match the
- 42:39Speaker 4: energy and the effort and the flying to the ball
- 42:41Speaker 4: and the amount of LSU jerseys around the ball carrier
- 42:45Speaker 4: each and every play.
- 42:46Speaker 2: I challenge you to do that, because you're not gonna
- 42:48Speaker 2: find it.
- 42:51Speaker 3: Teams ahead of them are teams at Penn State who
- 42:55Speaker 3: hasn't played a powerful opponent yet. Right, there's some teams
- 42:59Speaker 3: and James Madison's ahead of them.
- 43:01Speaker 2: And say they're still playing at home.
- 43:03Speaker 3: They got a whiteout situation at home this weekend, you know,
- 43:07Speaker 3: So some of the teams that are ahead of them
- 43:09Speaker 3: haven't played a powerful opponent yet. But still like seventeenth
- 43:13Speaker 3: in the country compared to eighty third for Arkansas, one
- 43:16Speaker 3: hundred and thirteenth or two lane and one hundred and
- 43:18Speaker 3: fourteenth for Kentucky, it's gonna be a different it's gonna
- 43:21Speaker 3: be a different animal for this Old Miss team. Now,
- 43:24Speaker 3: you could also argue, and it would be factual, this
- 43:27Speaker 3: Old Miss offense is going to be the best one
- 43:29Speaker 3: that Elsu's defense has faced off against as well.
- 43:35Speaker 4: Okay, I could listen to that argument, but we will
- 43:40Speaker 4: see that we will get a real good look at
- 43:43Speaker 4: who Old Miss is, what Old Miss's offense really is
- 43:45Speaker 4: this this week, I'll.
- 43:46Speaker 3: Miss offensively in the country is ninth overall.
- 43:50Speaker 2: Wow, Okay, all right.
- 43:54Speaker 4: I would hope they would be based on the defenses I.
- 43:57Speaker 2: Watched on field.
- 43:58Speaker 4: No, for sure, it's That's what I'm saying is this
- 44:01Speaker 4: is a rubber meets the Road game for them, and
- 44:03Speaker 4: I get it. The optics going into this is the
- 44:06Speaker 4: reason why they're favored. I'm just telling it's going to
- 44:09Speaker 4: be a different game. So I don't want to like
- 44:11Speaker 4: be too disparaging versus a kid or an offense or
- 44:14Speaker 4: whatever it is. I just like the matchup for al
- 44:15Speaker 4: issues defense very much, very much.
- 44:18Speaker 3: So, sir, how would you play this if you are
- 44:23Speaker 3: if you are Blake Baker, Like, would you stay with
- 44:25Speaker 3: the same style, the same things that have gotten you
- 44:27Speaker 3: to this point? Absolutely trusting your dbs, being aggressive And
- 44:31Speaker 3: we talked about it in the no huddle, hurry up
- 44:34Speaker 3: tempo of ale Miss. You still think that you can
- 44:36Speaker 3: get those things done?
- 44:38Speaker 2: That wasn't hetorical, by the way.
- 44:40Speaker 4: Absolutely, you can get it done because like we said,
- 44:43Speaker 4: they are up tempo, hurry up to the line of scrimmage,
- 44:46Speaker 4: but not necessarily to snap the ball every time. So
- 44:50Speaker 4: it's a hurry up and way hurry up to get
- 44:51Speaker 4: the line of scrimmer to see see where they're lined up.
- 44:54Speaker 4: And you know, maybe it's a lot better this day
- 44:56Speaker 4: because they do have the speaker in their helmet. That's
- 44:58Speaker 4: a game changer, so they are able to talk and
- 45:00Speaker 4: communicate that play instead of having to signal everything from
- 45:03Speaker 4: the sideline.
- 45:04Speaker 2: So they're still signaling a little bit.
- 45:07Speaker 4: But yeah, I absolutely do because there's gonna be timehouse
- 45:10Speaker 4: on the field, there's gonna be a lot of situations,
- 45:11Speaker 4: but you definitely keep the same game plan going in.
- 45:13Speaker 4: Maybe it's trimmed up a little bit, but you have
- 45:16Speaker 4: created issues with who was thought of what was thought
- 45:19Speaker 4: of the best, some of the best quarterbacks in the country.
- 45:21Speaker 4: You've created confusion, You've created chaos to them. So you
- 45:26Speaker 4: got a guy that was a start of the years
- 45:29Speaker 4: of backup transferred in from a small.
- 45:31Speaker 2: School Asian to Fair State, Fair State. That's right.
- 45:35Speaker 4: We had a buddy just Texas and said, you know,
- 45:37Speaker 4: he's playing teams.
- 45:38Speaker 2: Like slippery Rock last year.
- 45:40Speaker 4: Well, it's a long way from slippery rock to a
- 45:42Speaker 4: blake Baker led witweeks running around biting knee caps lsu
- 45:47Speaker 4: defense so create the confusion. He cannot read past first
- 45:51Speaker 4: second read and if people aren't open, he's gonna have issues.
- 45:55Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 45:56Speaker 3: Slippery rocks pretty stingy. They're pretty slippery for it is singy,
- 46:01Speaker 3: pretty solid upfront. Slippery rock is hey all talent yep,
- 46:05Speaker 3: and it's slippery.
- 46:06Speaker 2: We'll be back more OTB here from Morous's football Friday
- 46:10Speaker 2: Off the Bench.
- 46:14Speaker 3: All right, go to KTZ Blinds dot com. Ktz blinds
- 46:19Speaker 3: dot com. That is the website for Katz and tiers
- 46:21Speaker 3: and outdoor living. They've been known it since two thousand
