- 0:14SPEAKER_00: What is going on, big ballers?
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: It's your boy MJ coming at you with another episode of Fantasy Football Sports Minds.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: It's your boy coming at you live with Joe.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Joe, how the hell are you doing today, brother?
- 0:29SPEAKER_01: I had a much better week two.
- 0:31SPEAKER_01: So I'm feeling pretty good.
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: And the weather's finally cooled off.
- 0:35SPEAKER_01: So I'm feeling great about that too.
- 0:37SPEAKER_01: But yeah, it was a nice rebound.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: I went, you know, three and three week one, and I went four and two this week.
- 0:42SPEAKER_01: So things are looking up despite a lot of injuries, which we will get into.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: It's been a rough week, which, like I like you said, we'll get into.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: Um, I had a good week myself, uh, good and bad.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: Eagles shit the bed, of course.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Terrible coaching.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: Uh, but also a couple of my fantasy team shit the bed too, but some did good.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: You know, it was a mixed bag of results.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: But overall, it's been a weird openings fantasy season for a lot of people, and there are a lot of lucky blind squirrels getting nuts right now.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: But let me tell you, those nuts are gonna disappear, and real reality is gonna set in, so you better watch yourselves, all right?
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: And I'm talking to the league members in my league, all right.
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: If you're watching this, as you just said, the dust will start to settle, and a lot of these flashes in the pan will fade away, and you're gonna start to see the guys that are starters find their rhythm and play like starters.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: You know, a lot of people are still getting worked up.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: Week one and two, there are a lot of rash decisions that are made with your lineup.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: I've been there, done that.
- 1:54SPEAKER_01: Try to stay level-headed.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: So many injuries to discuss and a few other little tidbits of news.
- 2:01SPEAKER_01: But before we get into all that, a quick word from our sponsor.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: Hey there.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: My name is Manny James Gonzalez with PRB, and I'm a real estate agent here in Central Florida.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: I'm a U.S.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: Navy veteran, military relocation pro, and big supporter of 2A and veterans' rights.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: My specialty is VA transactions.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: I'm also experiencing all parts of real estate.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: I've been living in Florida for over 20 years, and I can tell you we still believe in freedom down here.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: One of the greatest job markets, excellent economy, and no state income tax.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: When it comes to an agent, you want one that's gonna be honest, not afraid of a fight, and most importantly, willing to do the things that some agents aren't willing to do.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: And what's that, Manny?
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: Choose straight, Dan.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: If you ever consider buying in Central Florida, you need somebody you can trust, and I got your sticks.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: I'm Manny James Gonzalez, buying land for the free and home for the brave.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: Now let's dabble into a little bit of, as we were calling it offline, injury apocalypse.
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: We're looking for a graphic, haven't found one yet, but we're gonna work on that.
- 3:19SPEAKER_01: But all right, as you know, Isaiah Pacheco had surgery to repair his fractured fibula.
- 3:33SPEAKER_01: No timetable for his return.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: Uh the Seattle Seahawks, Kenneth Walker did not practice.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: Uh Joe Mixon did not practice, and Tajay Spears did not practice.
- 3:46SPEAKER_01: And that's all as of Wednesday.
- 3:48SPEAKER_01: So by Wednesday afternoon, Wednesday night, none of them had practice.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: Now for the people that have been limited in practice, Raheem Mostert, limited, Taj Algier was limited, Aaron Jones, Josh Jacobs, and Rashad White.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: They are all listed as limited right now.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: Keep an eye on them going into the weekend.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: Um, and especially the guys that did not practice today, make arrangements to have a fill-in in their place.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: Now going on to wide receivers, as we know, Cooper Cup, really banged up right now with his ankle, but he has not been placed on IR.
- 4:28SPEAKER_01: So keep an eye.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: I mean, you're not he's not gonna play this week, probably not gonna play next week, but not putting him on IR is a great sign.
- 4:35SPEAKER_01: AJ Brown is not expected to play this weekend, so probably another big week for Devonta Smith.
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: Nico Collins, his foot and his hip are listed on the injury report, and he did not practice today.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: So I wasn't aware that he had gotten hurt.
- 4:49SPEAKER_01: I watched that whole game and didn't notice anything, so I'm not exactly sure what happened, but um he did not practice today.
- 4:58SPEAKER_01: Jaden Reed did not practice, and then Joshua Palmer, you probably don't have on your roster anyway, did not practice.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: C.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: D.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: Lamb did not practice, and then DK Metcalf did not practice today, but uh Tyler Lockett was also listed as limited, and then Keenan Allen did not practice today, and Rome how do you say his last name?
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: Adunze Odunze.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna mess that up every time we he was limited today, so Keenan Allen did not practice and Odunze was limited, and then Jordan Al Jordan Addison did not practice again.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: I'm not sure what to expect from him this weekend, and Justin Jefferson was limited.
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: So if you look at the Seahawks, the Chicago Bears, and the Minnesota Vikings, they've got their top two wide receivers banged up on all those teams.
- 5:51SPEAKER_01: So, well, you know, DJ Moore is the top in the top two for the Bears, but you know what I'm saying.
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: And now moving on to tight end, David Njoku did not practice today and is not expected to play in week three.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: Taysom Hill did not practice today.
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: Jake Ferguson is limited but expected to play.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: And then Dalton Schultz was limited, but is also expected to play.
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: And then a similar situation at quarterback last week.
- 6:18SPEAKER_01: Uh Jordan Love was limited during practice.
- 6:21SPEAKER_01: So I'm not sure sure what to expect from him this weekend, even if he does play.
- 6:25SPEAKER_01: I wouldn't expect too much.
- 6:27SPEAKER_01: Um, and then Justin Herbert did not practice, and Russell Wilson doesn't even matter, was limited today.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: Um, some of the top waiver wire pickups that we would recommend.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: If if you didn't catch the TikTok already or the short clip, please make sure to follow us, Fantasy Football Sports Minds.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: Uh, but we did mention uh these pickups here.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: Carson Steele was probably number one on the waiver wire.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: Um, some people may have thought Kareem Hunt was that guy, but let me tell you, ladies and gentlemen, I doubt that.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: Uh I think it's gonna be Carson Steele and uh Samaj Peryan.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: I'm butchering that, I'm sure.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: But uh those are gonna be the two guys that get that workload.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: We all remember pre uh Isaiah Pacheco days, right?
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: Uh Andy Reid used to run that committee, even Pacheco's first year.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: So we're gonna go back.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: He's going back to that committee approach, you know.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: So that's that's gonna allow both those guys to at least put up a decent scoreboard, so like 15 points a game.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: Um, but Carson Steele is gonna be the goal line puncher.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: So that's why I think he's gonna be the more stable option, right?
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: Because he's getting that Pacheco roll.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: Uh, next guy, like Braylon Allen, uh running back for the New York Jets.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: He's somebody that would be a great pickup because uh even even just doing temporary reps for Brees Hall, he scored two touchdowns.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: I mean, he scored one on a uh a passing, a receiving uh or sorry, uh receiving uh reception.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: He took it to the house, right?
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: He broke a couple tackles and took it in.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: And uh same thing on a rush.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: So the guy is explosive, he's big, and I could even see them carving out a roll for him later on through the year.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: Um, what are some other uh free agents that you think are gonna be beneficial to pick up, maybe for wide receivers or tight ends?
- 8:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, a few of note, I wanted to say just the Rams wide receivers.
- 8:24SPEAKER_01: You got the Marcus Robinson and Tyler Johnson.
- 8:27SPEAKER_01: It's kind of a toss-up between those two.
- 8:29SPEAKER_01: Similar situation as the running backs in Kansas City.
- 8:33SPEAKER_01: You know, pick your poison for now.
- 8:35SPEAKER_01: It's gonna be a temporary thing, but for the next month, you could get some output from them.
- 8:39SPEAKER_01: And don't count out Tutu Atwell.
- 8:42SPEAKER_01: There was there was like a month last year where he was doing really well, and it was when Cooper Cup was out, and it was it was pretty much all Puka Nakua.
- 8:51SPEAKER_01: But you had a few weeks where Tutu Atwell was pretty much hanging right beside him.
- 8:56SPEAKER_01: So don't count him out.
- 8:57SPEAKER_01: But I do think uh if you're looking for a wide receiver, you should prioritize one of those two ahead of him, and then um Juwan Jennings, that guy is is going to be until Debo gets back, he's gonna be uh pretty involved in the San Francisco offense.
- 9:15SPEAKER_01: So if you're looking for a wide receiver, I'd say target those guys.
- 9:17SPEAKER_01: You know, they're probably not on waivers anymore, but there's a chance Tyler Johnson might be.
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: I know Tutu Atwell probably is.
- 9:24SPEAKER_01: So if you want to take a dart throw at him, if you're real desperate, you can do that.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: Um, but try a low ball trade to get uh Juwan Jennings on your feet on your team.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: You know, you just segued into something I I want to start touching on, particularly because of something that you and me are bullish on.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: We love trading, right?
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: Like trade it like right now is the perfect opportunity to buy low on a tight end you want.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: So if you are wanting to get a Laporta, if you want Travis Kelsey, if you want a Mark Andrews, if you want any of these guys, go out and buy them right now.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: And you could get them for the price of a flex player, like a flex running back, a flex wide receiver, like a guy that's putting up 15 points a game.
- 10:07SPEAKER_00: You can make an offer to a guy that has a tight end like Laporta right now.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: You give them a good flex player slash starter, and that guy is probably willing to give it up.
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: Uh, I mean, even a package deal.
- 10:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and it and that's exactly what you're kind of saying last week is you know, when you were talking about Marvin Harrison Jr., grab him now if you can.
- 10:26SPEAKER_01: They but most people are probably not gonna get rid of him.
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: But you know, this is this is the last week you can make a play on some of those guys, like possibly Chris Olave, who's having a somewhat slow start.
- 10:38SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, even Drake London, you might be able to pull him.
- 10:41SPEAKER_01: Uh, I saw a league in in one of our leagues today, Calvin Ridley, for um Drake London, you know.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: That was a horrible trade for the guy losing London.
- 10:52SPEAKER_01: Of course.
- 10:53SPEAKER_01: But you know, the first two weeks are emotional.
- 10:56SPEAKER_01: You you make too many decisions based off of a small sample size.
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: And like we said, the dust is gonna settle.
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: So now's the time.
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, if you do want to go grab someone like Laporta, he's not he's never gonna be lower than he is now.
- 11:07SPEAKER_01: So make the move if you need a tight end, uh, if you need a wide receiver, running back, whatever you got to do.
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: There are a few guys struggling right now that we know are going to finish really high at the end of the season.
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, definitely.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: Now we're gonna go ahead and get into today's hot matchups of the week.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: Uh, for my hot matchup, my game that I picked, I picked the Cardinals versus the Lions this week.
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: Vegas has the game at 51 for the spread, which means they expect a lot of scoring.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: If you watched the Cardinals last week, there was a lot of scoring.
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: Uh definitely.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: Uh Marvin Harrison had a few, you know, rookie day view.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: Uh, much, much, you know, what he needed to do week one.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: But hey, better late than never.
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: Um, obviously Kyler was on fire.
- 12:02SPEAKER_00: You know, Trey McBride had a slow week, so maybe this is the week we see him come off the ground.
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: Um, and on the flip side, uh for the Lions, they had a bad week.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: You know, they got pretty much owned and and dismantled by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: You know, they could have got that game, they mismanaged it and let them can't come back at the end and came back to bite them.
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: So overall it's a good game, tough game, but um the errors did cost them at the end.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: And I think uh the Lions are gonna make sure that they're scoring enough so that they they don't lose.
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: So you can see this as a really good Jameer Gibbs game.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: Obviously, David Montgomery, right?
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: Because when you think he's out, that guy is never out.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: He's still a solid player, and I can see how people can you know judge him from the outside looking in.
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: But as a previous David Montgomery owner, I can tell you it feels a little bit different on this side, you know.
- 12:56SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 12:58SPEAKER_01: I got him on a couple teams again this year.
- 13:00SPEAKER_01: It feels good, you know.
- 13:01SPEAKER_01: He unfortunately was on my bench a couple weeks in a row, but um, he's not gonna be this week.
- 13:07SPEAKER_01: But I like that matchup, man.
- 13:08SPEAKER_01: I I thought I thought about choosing that one too.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: The Cardinals really came into form last week.
- 13:13SPEAKER_01: Kyler looked great, Marvin Harrison Jr.
- 13:16SPEAKER_01: looked great, and James Connor, he's been a machine.
- 13:20SPEAKER_01: So I like that offense.
- 13:22SPEAKER_01: And then, of course, you know, I love the Detroit Lions.
- 13:25SPEAKER_01: That was my hot matchup last week.
- 13:27SPEAKER_01: That it was a really exciting game, but I was expecting, you know, Goff push for it.
- 13:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I was I was expecting Goff to have a couple touchdowns, and you know, he had a really good game last year in that same matchup that the Bucks actually struggled last year, um, and the score was even lower.
- 13:44SPEAKER_01: But I was expecting both those teams, they kind of leveled up, and they've just been on fire as a whole.
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: So I was expecting a lot more offense.
- 13:54SPEAKER_01: Was a good game, but not a lot of uh not a lot of touchdowns through the air aside from Chris Godwin.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: So this week I see a bounce back uh week for the entire Detroit Lions offense.
- 14:07SPEAKER_01: Not like, again, not like it was that bad, but um not a lot through the air, and I expect more, not a lot of touchdowns through the air, at least.
- 14:16SPEAKER_01: And I expect more from both teams.
- 14:19SPEAKER_01: Now for my hot matchup, I've got your Eagles versus the Saints.
- 14:30SPEAKER_01: Even without AJ Brown, the Eagles have a very intimidating offense.
- 14:34SPEAKER_01: Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, and Devonta Smith are must-starts every week, even against a tough defense like the Saints.
- 14:42SPEAKER_01: And all these guys are amazing players, and we know what they can do.
- 14:48SPEAKER_01: And Devonta also gets another boost this week with AJ Brown being out.
- 14:52SPEAKER_01: If you have Dallas Goddard, you probably don't have better options, but he won't do much for you.
- 14:59SPEAKER_01: And you know, I I was high on Jahan Dotson last year, as you know, and he let me down.
- 15:05SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm gonna need to see a lot more from him before he can even be part of the conversation, but he will be filling in at wide receiver this week, and and that'll be actually fun to see if he can do anything.
- 15:17SPEAKER_01: But again, the guys that you're gonna play must-starts no matter who they are playing.
- 15:22SPEAKER_01: That's Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, and Devonta Smith.
- 15:26SPEAKER_01: Now on the other side of the field, we've got Derek Carr and the Saints, who have looked incredible over the first two games of the season.
- 15:35SPEAKER_01: I'm not sure if this dominance will continue, but I'm riding the wave until they give me a reason to doubt them.
- 15:40SPEAKER_01: And Carr over the first two games has 443 passing yards and five touchdowns.
- 15:46SPEAKER_01: Certainly not a bad option at QB this week.
- 15:49SPEAKER_01: Kamara has looked unstoppable.
- 15:51SPEAKER_01: He also has five touchdowns and almost 300 total yards.
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: Rashid Jahid has looked great too, which was a little bit surprising.
- 15:58SPEAKER_01: He let he had flashes of greatness last year, but he's he's actually looking pretty consistent so far.
- 16:03SPEAKER_01: And I'm confident Chris Olave will start to find his rhythm.
- 16:07SPEAKER_01: Again, perfect example of someone you should try to trade for now before he catches fire.
- 16:12SPEAKER_01: And this could be the week that he does that.
- 16:13SPEAKER_01: He's he's always that guy, he was at least in past years, that's gonna get you 15 points a game.
- 16:19SPEAKER_01: And I do expect that number to be between 15 and 20 most weeks.
- 16:23SPEAKER_01: Um, he even looked good last week, he just didn't get a touchdown.
- 16:26SPEAKER_01: That would have made the day look a lot better.
- 16:29SPEAKER_01: Uh, but the D the Eagles defense has been struggling a little bit too.
- 16:34SPEAKER_01: So this should be another good output for the Sam's offense or for the Saints offense as a whole, and um, I think the Eagles are gonna have you know a really great game, too.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: So I expect it to be very high scoring.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: Um I'm actually gonna play devil's advocate in this one.
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: I think they're gonna struggle on this matchup just a little bit.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: So what I what I was noticing last this past week for the Eagles matchup, Jahan Dotson wasn't even being put in the right plays.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: So they were doing a lot of they were using Britain Covey more than Jahan Dotson, and that was stupid because he's a special teams guy.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: As soon as he got out there, he was trying to run for the sidelines every time, and he was just getting bodied every single time he touched the ball.
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: So Jahan Dotson, they were actually doing a lot of they did a couple screens or short passes to Britain Covey, and then um he they had Devontae Smith lead blocking, right?
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: So that tells you how successful that play is gonna be when you have a you know six foot 180-pound receiver out there, right?
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: That's not gonna be very productive in the NFL level.
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: So um, but Jahan Dotson would be like open, and they weren't Jalen Hurts, just wasn't passing him the ball.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: So I I want to see them get him more involved because he has talent and he should be the guy that's either lead blocking or running behind those screens, because at the end of the day, he has all the talent in the world, like you say.
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: Um, but I I think that the Eagles, if they don't run it through Saquon, which I think the Saints hold system is gonna be shut down Saquon Barkley, right?
- 18:15SPEAKER_00: Because they they're gonna try to take away the the one hand that feeds them.
- 18:19SPEAKER_00: So if they take away the run game, what can the Eagles do, right?
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: In the secondary, and they have the honey badger back there, so that might end up being a little bit of a stalemate.
- 18:29SPEAKER_00: So to me, that could be uh that could be a potentially bad game, but obviously I hope for the best as an Eagles fan.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: Uh but at the it's at the end of the day, it could also be like the Cowboys game, right?
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: Where the Saints just fucking hung 40 points on our ass, you know, like and our defense had couldn't stop a dead body from rolling over the goal line right now.
- 18:52SPEAKER_00: So, you know, I don't I don't expect much from us on that side of the ball.
- 18:56SPEAKER_01: What you were saying about running the offense through Saquon, that's absolutely what they need to do.
- 19:01SPEAKER_01: And I agree that the Saints are gonna try to shut that down, but that's exactly what happened in week one when you know Saquon had three touchdowns.
- 19:09SPEAKER_01: They were clearly running all the plays through him, and they're going to be trying to shut down Devonta Smith and Saquon Barkley, which could lead to a lot of running and scrambling from Jalen Hurts.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: So I still feel like he's a rock solid play, no matter what the approach could be.
- 19:27SPEAKER_01: And I you know, you can never sit Devonta Smith or Saquon Barkley.
- 19:32SPEAKER_01: But yeah, you're you're you're right.
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: They might not have a um they might not have a strong output just because the Sam, the Saints, why do I keep calling them the Sam's?
- 19:41SPEAKER_01: That's the second time I did that.
- 19:42SPEAKER_01: The Aints, the Sams.
- 19:46SPEAKER_01: But the Saints do have a strong defense, and I could see them doing exactly what you said, just leaning on the run game and trying to shut down Saquon.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: But I think it's gonna be a high scoring game regardless.
- 20:02SPEAKER_01: So we'll see.
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: It'll be more fun if it is.
- 20:08SPEAKER_01: Now let's get into our cold calls of the week.
- 20:22SPEAKER_00: You chart out for for your school play or something, bro.
- 20:29SPEAKER_01: Who's your cold call of the week, manny?
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: Oh oh, I'm leading this.
- 20:34SPEAKER_00: All right, cold call.
- 20:35SPEAKER_00: Oh man, I went ahead and uh thank you for mentioning my my team.
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: I had to return a favor, so my cold call of the week is Chargers versus the Steelers, my boy.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: Steelers have a really great defense that I will give them.
- 20:54SPEAKER_00: Um the offense has been struggling a little bit, and that's just because they're running that committee approach on the ground.
- 21:01SPEAKER_00: I think Najee gets better the more touches you give them, and they're only giving them like 17 touches a game.
- 21:07SPEAKER_00: You need to be giving Najee 25 touches a game for him to get going.
- 21:11SPEAKER_00: Um, also on offense, like their quarterback is Justin Fields, they're not going to be running much of a passing game.
- 21:17SPEAKER_00: That has to be more of a read option, West Coast, you know, short running Lamar Jackson style offense, right?
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: So one where it's more of a play action and running style, but they don't do that.
- 21:29SPEAKER_00: So unfortunately, that's why they struggle, you know.
- 21:32SPEAKER_00: And then on the other side, the Chargers, you know, Justin Herbert just got smacked in the last game.
- 21:37SPEAKER_00: He came back, but man, he got hit hard a couple times.
- 21:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so he he's he's banged up, and I think that that's gonna affect him a little bit because it's J TJ Watt's just gonna come after his ass.
- 21:50SPEAKER_00: Cam Hayward hasn't lost a step either.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: He's still a monster in the middle, so I can see that just being a stifling game for the Steelers shutting the pat the Chargers down.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: And the Chargers are are not really that great.
- 22:02SPEAKER_00: So I think the Steelers will end up winning that one.
- 22:05SPEAKER_00: And maybe the star target Harris on one side.
- 22:09SPEAKER_00: And uh and on the other side, I I would end up starting JK Dobbins without a doubt, right?
- 22:15SPEAKER_00: Like he's been a fantasy stud, like out of nowhere, a stalwart.
- 22:20SPEAKER_00: You know, like everyone took him.
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: You were, I think you were telling me that you got him in the last round or something of your leagues.
- 22:26SPEAKER_01: It was really late.
- 22:27SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: So and most people that did get him, they're loving that he's RB3 right now, overall.
- 22:34SPEAKER_00: So uh, and I don't think it's sustainable.
- 22:37SPEAKER_00: I think you need to sell high on him.
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: So if you have him, please sell him, sell him now because that's not gonna last, right?
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: At the end of the day, we know who J.K.
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: Domins is, and unfortunately, the guy doesn't have the cleanest bill of health, you know, no offense.
- 22:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and uh I completely agree about the Steelers defense just swarming them and suffocating them and it being a low-scoring game.
- 23:01SPEAKER_01: I almost picked that as my cold call.
- 23:04SPEAKER_01: I can't think of anyone on the Steelers I'd start.
- 23:07SPEAKER_01: I wouldn't, if I had to start Najee Harris, yeah, I would.
- 23:10SPEAKER_01: But like you said, he does get better with every carry.
- 23:13SPEAKER_01: So unless he's getting 20 plus carries, I mean, you're hoping for 12 points.
- 23:19SPEAKER_01: And the only person I'd start on the other side is JK Dobbins.
- 23:24SPEAKER_01: And he might, you might have to temper your expectations for him a little bit because he's playing the Steelers.
- 23:28SPEAKER_00: I was just gonna say Quayton Johnson is uh is fool's gold right now, right?
- 23:33SPEAKER_00: Like he had his two touchdowns.
- 23:35SPEAKER_00: This is not the week you want to start him.
- 23:37SPEAKER_00: If you bent, if you grabbed them, picked them up, great, stash them, don't start them.
- 23:42SPEAKER_00: This is not the week to do so.
- 23:44SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 23:45SPEAKER_01: Now for my cold call, I've got the Giants versus the Browns.
- 23:54SPEAKER_01: One of the things that we look for is a low-scoring game, and the the thing that takes precedence over all that is uh fantasy relevance.
- 24:01SPEAKER_01: And I just don't see much fantasy relevance at all.
- 24:05SPEAKER_01: The only player I would want in my lineup, similar to what you were just talking about with the Chargers, there's one player, and that's Malik Neighbors.
- 24:13SPEAKER_01: He's a great player, must start every week until he gives us a reason to put him on the bench.
- 24:18SPEAKER_01: You can argue for Devin Singletary, but I need to see more before I can put him in as a starter.
- 24:24SPEAKER_01: And same thing with Wandale Robinson.
- 24:26SPEAKER_01: Like, yeah, they're doing okay, but just okay.
- 24:30SPEAKER_01: And this week they're playing the Browns, who have a very strong defense.
- 24:34SPEAKER_01: So the only person I would put in on the Giants is Malik Neighbors.
- 24:39SPEAKER_01: And for Cleveland, I wouldn't put in anybody.
- 24:42SPEAKER_01: There are a lot of a lot of problems in Cleveland right now, and Deshaun Watson is worse than Daniel Jones.
- 24:48SPEAKER_01: You can't even rely on the run game for either one of them anymore.
- 24:51SPEAKER_01: So I don't know what's going on with the backfield in Cleveland, but apparently uh they decided to work as a committee going into week three with Jerome Ford and Dante Foreman splitting carries.
- 25:01SPEAKER_01: So I'm not starting either one of them.
- 25:03SPEAKER_01: And David Nojoku's still injured, not expected to play in week three.
- 25:08SPEAKER_01: I need to see a little bit more from Jerry Judy.
- 25:10SPEAKER_01: He's one of those guys that'll get you 10 points on a good day.
- 25:13SPEAKER_01: It's it's not gonna get you a W most weeks, and I don't know what is going on with Amari Cooper, but I I don't think you can play him right now.
- 25:23SPEAKER_01: I wouldn't play him right now.
- 25:24SPEAKER_01: So the only guy on either side of the field that I'm putting in my roster is Malik Neighbors.
- 25:31SPEAKER_00: Well, uh to add to that, uh I would definitely Singletary had a really good game last week too.
- 25:38SPEAKER_00: So I I mean Singletary would be a good flex if you're one of those people impacted by all the injuries, you know, you're definitely not gonna have a a better option, right?
- 25:48SPEAKER_00: Like if you're looking at a wide receiver that's projected to score 12 and you have a running back like the one we're talking about that expect, you know, expected to score 10, you always go for the guaranteed workload of the running back because I rather count on that 10 points that's almost guaranteed versus that 12 points that may not happen, right?
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: Because they could have drops, they could have off-target, they could get pushed out of the game plan altogether, you know, with wide receivers.
- 26:18SPEAKER_00: It's so inconsistent.
- 26:19SPEAKER_01: So yeah, I always I always, always, always lean on the running back for those guaranteed points, too.
- 26:26SPEAKER_01: So, yes, there there are times with all these injuries.
- 26:30SPEAKER_01: If you're reaching, I could see playing singletary.
- 26:33SPEAKER_01: That's a good point.
- 26:35SPEAKER_01: Now let's get to our shit calls of the week.
- 26:45SPEAKER_01: All right, Manny.
- 26:47SPEAKER_01: For my shit call of the week, I believe Tampa Bay at Detroit was going to be a high-scoring shootout, as I touched on earlier.
- 26:56SPEAKER_01: The recipe seemed perfect.
- 26:59SPEAKER_01: You got a home game for Jared Goff.
- 27:01SPEAKER_01: He did really well in their matchup last year.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: Baker has been playing great, and you have a high-level, you have high-level wide receivers on both teams.
- 27:11SPEAKER_01: But the final score was 20 to 16, and there was only one receiving touchdown by Chris Godwin.
- 27:17SPEAKER_01: Uh Baker played well, uh, but Mike Evans did not do very much, and that was my big balls call.
- 27:23SPEAKER_01: And although the Lions running backs and receivers played well, because that's the thing, is the receivers did play pretty well, they just didn't find the end zone.
- 27:31SPEAKER_01: Um, there was only one touchdown on the Lions, and that was from David Montgomery.
- 27:36SPEAKER_01: So you had three touchdowns total.
- 27:38SPEAKER_01: You had one from Baker, Godwin, and then David Montgomery.
- 27:41SPEAKER_01: Last year was low scoring two, but I expected a lot more from both teams this year.
- 27:46SPEAKER_01: So that was my shit call.
- 27:47SPEAKER_01: I thought it was going to be the hottest matchup of the week, and certainly was not.
- 27:51SPEAKER_01: It was a fun game, it was a good game, but it was not nearly as much of a shootout as I expected.
- 27:57SPEAKER_00: Totally get that.
- 27:59SPEAKER_00: And I'm I'm pretty sure everyone was surprised with the result of that game, but it was a good game nonetheless, a very good game.
- 28:06SPEAKER_00: Um, now for my shit call, I I picked my game that I picked for the hot call as well.
- 28:13SPEAKER_00: I said the Rams versus the Cardinals was gonna be a high-scoring game.
- 28:17SPEAKER_00: I was right in a way, but it's a shit call because all the points were on the Cardinals side.
- 28:22SPEAKER_00: Um, I mean he scored 41, Rams scored 10.
- 28:25SPEAKER_00: So that obviously didn't do much for my hot matchup.
- 28:29SPEAKER_00: You know, we expected the Rams to have a big day, we expected like um uh, you know, like the wide receivers to have a good day, Kyron Williams to have a good day.
- 28:39SPEAKER_00: None of that happened.
- 28:40SPEAKER_00: Mass Afford had a terrible day, and it impacted everybody.
- 28:44SPEAKER_00: So unfortunately, that was what it was, and so um that's why I have to eat crow.
- 28:50SPEAKER_00: So I was right on one half, not on the other.
- 28:54SPEAKER_00: They covered the spread though.
- 28:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't think anyone expected that kind of dominance from the Cardinals.
- 29:02SPEAKER_01: So caught that that cut us, that cut us all by surprise.
- 29:07SPEAKER_01: Now let's get into our big balls calls.
- 29:23SPEAKER_00: For my big balls call, I picked Kyron Williams to have a really good day against the San Francisco 49ers.
- 29:32SPEAKER_00: I picked them to have 150 yards and a touchdown against a vaunted uh or formerly vaunted Niners defense.
- 29:39SPEAKER_00: Um, I I know that he didn't have he hasn't had the greatest start to a fantasy season so far.
- 29:45SPEAKER_00: Um, I definitely we just talked about the Rams here a moment ago, so I I think that this is a perfect segue to say that they uh you know he he's gonna bounce back, have a good game, and they're gonna do so by feeding him the ball because he only had 12, 15 touches last game.
- 30:02SPEAKER_00: Not nearly enough.
- 30:04SPEAKER_00: You got to give that guy another guy, you gotta give 20, 25 touches, and that includes like five to seven targets in those touches, right?
- 30:11SPEAKER_00: Because he's gonna turn those into big yardage.
- 30:14SPEAKER_00: So I expect him to have 150 all-purpose yards with a touchdown.
- 30:18SPEAKER_00: So that's my big balls call.
- 30:20SPEAKER_01: Hell yeah.
- 30:21SPEAKER_01: I love that call because I got him on a lot of teams, and I agree, you got to give him volume.
- 30:25SPEAKER_01: We see what he can do.
- 30:26SPEAKER_01: Give him the volume.
- 30:30SPEAKER_01: Now, for my big balls call, this is more of just something that's coming from the heart, but there's a little bit of science behind it.
- 30:41SPEAKER_01: Loose science behind it.
- 30:43SPEAKER_01: So speculative science, pseudoscience.
- 30:46SPEAKER_01: So I think that Justin Fields, and this isn't even that ballsy, but I think Justin Fields is going to have 250 yards and two touchdowns.
- 30:57SPEAKER_01: And the reason I'm saying this, yeah, 250 yards, that's not that crazy, but two touchdowns, you know, that would be a very good fantasy day for him.
- 31:05SPEAKER_01: And the reason I'm calling it like this is because when you when you watched him play last year, he was always streaky.
- 31:11SPEAKER_01: He'd have a good game, like one out of every three or four games, he would look really good.
- 31:16SPEAKER_01: And he was doing a lot of running and actually throwing the ball pretty well.
- 31:20SPEAKER_01: I feel like he's just gonna come out of his shell.
- 31:22SPEAKER_01: The Steelers are now two and oh.
- 31:24SPEAKER_01: If he doesn't have a good game, Russell Wilson's probably playing in week four.
- 31:29SPEAKER_01: So I feel like he's got a lot on the line, a lot to prove.
- 31:31SPEAKER_01: He's going to be taking risks, running the ball a lot more, and probably just his confidence level is a little bit higher because they're two and oh, and he's looked okay.
- 31:42SPEAKER_01: So if he can kind of ride the wave that he's on and just ride it a tiny bit higher and run the ball a little bit more, 250 yards and two touchdowns is very feasible.
- 31:52SPEAKER_01: So that's my big balls call.
- 31:54SPEAKER_01: I believe the Steelers are gonna go 3-0, and he's gonna actually have a pretty good day.
- 32:01SPEAKER_00: All right, yeah, that definitely has has some balls there for sure.
- 32:06SPEAKER_00: Just a little bit.
- 32:07SPEAKER_00: 250 run it rushing yards or all purpose yards?
- 32:10SPEAKER_00: All purpose, no.
- 32:11SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 32:15SPEAKER_01: That's ballsy.
- 32:16SPEAKER_01: No, hell no.
- 32:17SPEAKER_01: 250.
- 32:18SPEAKER_01: That's why I'm saying it's not that ballsy because for a quarterback, that's not a lot to ask.
- 32:22SPEAKER_01: But we're talking about Justin Fields and the Pittsburgh.
- 32:25SPEAKER_01: The bar is low.
- 32:26SPEAKER_01: The bar is low, yes.
- 32:27SPEAKER_01: So that's what I'm saying.
- 32:28SPEAKER_01: It's like uh maybe it's not a big balls, it's just hefty balls, but not huge balls, you know.
- 32:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, those are little, those are um those are camel-sized balls, camel testicles.
- 32:41SPEAKER_00: Not quite elephant, right?
- 32:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, not elephant balls yet, yeah.
- 32:46SPEAKER_01: Xavier worthy, two touchdowns is his rookie debut.
- 32:49SPEAKER_01: Those are elephant balls calls.
- 32:52SPEAKER_00: That's gonna go down big balls, hall of fame.
- 32:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but but uh I think because of the situation, that's slightly enlarged balls.
- 33:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I I definitely would say a lot more inflated than Tom Brady's balls.
- 33:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, sure.
- 33:15SPEAKER_00: All right, ladies and gentlemen, we appreciate you for joining us for yet another episode of the Fantasy Fumble.
