- 0:13Speaker 2: He heres God Blessed football, Taylor.
- 0:16Speaker 3: God Bless Football, Stu Gots.
- 0:18Speaker 4: He did not receive that with the same oh that
- 0:21Speaker 4: he receives it from Mike Golick.
- 0:22Speaker 1: He just did it. Yeah, you feel it, don't you?
- 0:24Speaker 3: Yeah? That's even mike y a too. I miss Mikeyyy today.
- 0:29Speaker 5: Do you.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, he's on vacation because he leads the show
- 0:31Speaker 1: in vacation days.
- 0:35Speaker 5: Winter.
- 0:36Speaker 4: He and Rappaport, NFL Network senior insider is good to
- 0:39Speaker 4: join us coming up here in about ten minutes or so.
- 0:43Speaker 4: He'll get us ready for the NFL Draft, which is
- 0:45Speaker 4: coming up a week from Thursday, the first round. Is
- 0:48Speaker 4: he excited for the draft?
- 0:50Speaker 1: What do you mean now you're a football.
- 0:53Speaker 6: God blessed Yes, I absolutely can't wait for Day one?
- 0:57Speaker 1: Right?
- 0:58Speaker 4: Are you confused as I about aj Brown? There is
- 1:02Speaker 4: so much turmoil inside the Eagles organization that you know,
- 1:07Speaker 4: a few writers at ESPN dot com just did.
- 1:09Speaker 1: A deep dive, and I love a good deep dive.
- 1:11Speaker 4: Into an organization, but we're deep diving into an organization
- 1:14Speaker 4: that has been to the Super Bowl twice in the
- 1:17Speaker 4: last five years and should have two and all the
- 1:20Speaker 4: turmoil is surrounding AJ Brown and Jalen Hurts and kind
- 1:25Speaker 4: of that relationship, and I just find it puzzling that
- 1:28Speaker 4: this team has been able to have the success that
- 1:30Speaker 4: they've been able to have while dealing with this.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Internally, it's pretty incredible.
- 1:35Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, this is probably why it's so intriguing.
- 1:39Speaker 6: Like you said, if they weren't any good, it'd be like, oh, okay,
- 1:40Speaker 6: it's another team. It's a rotting from the inside. But
- 1:44Speaker 6: the AJ Brown thing is weird because it does feel
- 1:47Speaker 6: like everybody involved wants a separation. Yes, it doesn't feel
- 1:51Speaker 6: like there's any reason for them. Even the fans are
- 1:53Speaker 6: just like, come on, like, give this a rest. We
- 1:56Speaker 6: haven't seen great AJ Brown in a little bit now,
- 1:59Speaker 6: and if he's unhappy, let's just move on. I think
- 2:02Speaker 6: it's just the more intriguing part is just the whole
- 2:04Speaker 6: Jalen hurt situation. Is he you know a problem, is
- 2:09Speaker 6: he's limiting them? Is it one of those you know,
- 2:12Speaker 6: the devil you have is better than the one you don't,
- 2:15Speaker 6: because you know, maybe they want to move on, but they're.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Like, we won a super Bowl with this dude.
- 2:19Speaker 6: We can't even though the problems are right in front
- 2:21Speaker 6: of them, Like there's a lot of tough decisions to
- 2:23Speaker 6: be made, which is why I'm like, why not go
- 2:25Speaker 6: ahead and make the AJ Brown one, even if you
- 2:27Speaker 6: don't think you're going to get great value in return.
- 2:30Speaker 7: The Eagles also haven't really helped themselves when it comes
- 2:33Speaker 7: to fueling the AJ Brown speculation because they go out,
- 2:37Speaker 7: they trade for Dontavian Wicks, they sign Hollywood Brown, they
- 2:41Speaker 7: sign Elijah Moore. You're counting how many receivers they add,
- 2:43Speaker 7: and you're like, somebody's not gonna make this roster. One
- 2:47Speaker 7: of the things that makes the most sense is to
- 2:49Speaker 7: just trade AJ Brown.
- 2:50Speaker 4: None of those names are as talented or as good
- 2:53Speaker 4: as AJ Brown. In fact, put all those guys together
- 2:56Speaker 4: and they're not as good as AJ Brown or talent
- 2:59Speaker 4: or as talented as AJ Brown.
- 3:01Speaker 1: How old is AJ Brown? He's like twenty nine years old.
- 3:05Speaker 2: I mean for a physical wide receiver.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Twenty eight? What young?
- 3:09Speaker 6: Twenty eight for a physical wide receiver that you know,
- 3:11Speaker 6: I feel like that's that's pretty old. I think he's
- 3:14Speaker 6: on the down side of his career in terms of productivity,
- 3:18Speaker 6: and it feels like whenever I watch him, the only
- 3:21Speaker 6: separation he gets is effectively on just comebacks and you know,
- 3:25Speaker 6: some timing routes and stuff like that. So I don't
- 3:28Speaker 6: know how valuable he is right now, which is why
- 3:30Speaker 6: I'm saying, hey, I would trade him. But you know,
- 3:34Speaker 6: every year but one, he's had a thousand yards, so
- 3:35Speaker 6: it's hard to predict him not having one of those.
- 3:37Speaker 8: Right.
- 3:38Speaker 4: Well, listen, I'm tired of the story. I'm confused by
- 3:41Speaker 4: the story. I think Hawie Rosman is also confused by it.
- 3:44Speaker 4: He's tired of it. He is getting snarky, but it's
- 3:47Speaker 4: a story of his own creation, so he has to
- 3:49Speaker 4: deal with the questions. He was holding a news conference yesterday,
- 3:53Speaker 4: as he I believe, and someone asked him about AJ Brown?
- 3:57Speaker 5: What does that mean for a J? Brown? Feel like
- 4:00Speaker 5: if he is traded, you have kept there at wide receiver.
- 4:04Speaker 8: The odds are that I'm answering this question anywhere else,
- 4:09Speaker 8: Like really, like do you think that's like fifty do
- 4:12Speaker 8: you think that's seventy five percent? An eagle is.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Such a great response by Ali.
- 4:20Speaker 6: It's funny, like you really think you're gonna get me,
- 4:23Speaker 6: like you're gonna ask you questions so good that I'm
- 4:25Speaker 6: gonna say, yeah that A J. Brown are real J.
- 4:29Speaker 7: I know reporters go into those press conferences with the
- 4:32Speaker 7: mindset of we have to ask the question because our
- 4:35Speaker 7: fan base is gonna want this question asked, no matter
- 4:38Speaker 7: what the response is. But do you think at all
- 4:40Speaker 7: in that reporter's mind when he was asking the question,
- 4:42Speaker 7: he's like, maybe he just says, Hey, we're gonna just
- 4:45Speaker 7: trade him to the Patriots.
- 4:46Speaker 1: This is gonna be the time. This is it, this
- 4:47Speaker 1: is the time I'm gonna get him.
- 4:49Speaker 6: That's literally the thought, like, you can't not ask it.
- 4:52Speaker 6: What if they're about to change their stance on it,
- 4:54Speaker 6: what if it has to happen at some point? It
- 4:57Speaker 6: might be now when I asked this question.
- 4:59Speaker 4: So you have of some experience reporting here, are you
- 5:02Speaker 4: saying that question needs to be asked In the event
- 5:04Speaker 4: that he answers it, he decides, Hey, today's the day
- 5:07Speaker 4: I'm going to answer this reporter's question.
- 5:09Speaker 2: I'm not gonna lie.
- 5:10Speaker 6: I forget what the actual question was right there, But yeah,
- 5:13Speaker 6: every time the GM is available, you've got to ask
- 5:16Speaker 6: the pressing question.
- 5:16Speaker 2: If there has been rumors about a person being traded.
- 5:19Speaker 4: It's the same question he's been asked a thousand times, Iowa,
- 5:22Speaker 4: Sam hit it one more time.
- 5:24Speaker 8: What does that mean for A J. Brown?
- 5:26Speaker 5: Do you feel like if he is traded, you have
- 5:29Speaker 5: kept there at wide.
- 5:30Speaker 8: Receiver at the odds are that I'm answering this question
- 5:34Speaker 8: any different than I answered anywhere else, Like really, like
- 5:37Speaker 8: do you think that's like fifty percent?
- 5:39Speaker 2: Do you think that's seventy five percent? As A Brown's
- 5:44Speaker 2: an eagle upon review?
- 5:46Speaker 6: It's a pretty slick question because he's just saying, Hey,
- 5:50Speaker 6: for whatever reason, if we don't have AJ Brown, what
- 5:53Speaker 6: do you think.
- 5:54Speaker 1: About the wide receiver debt currently available?
- 5:56Speaker 6: Yes, and he's not going to fall for that one,
- 5:58Speaker 6: because if he praises the wide receive depth, they're gonna say.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Wow, that sounds like A J.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Brown's available for trade.
- 6:03Speaker 4: He went out of his way to say AJ Brown's
- 6:04Speaker 4: an eagle. At the end, Well, that's his life. Been
- 6:06Speaker 4: using it, Yeah, I know.
- 6:08Speaker 7: I've been in press conference settings. Yeah, it's one of
- 6:11Speaker 7: my least favorite part trying to ask questions to coaches
- 6:15Speaker 7: because these reporters are sharks, and I think the reporters
- 6:19Speaker 7: when I'm in there and I have a question that
- 6:22Speaker 7: I want to ask, they could smell the fear coming
- 6:24Speaker 7: off me. Yeah, like, hey, we know, all we have
- 6:27Speaker 7: to do is just bully this kid off the first
- 6:29Speaker 7: three words he says, and he is gonna immediately tuck
- 6:33Speaker 7: his tail between his leg and retreat.
- 6:35Speaker 4: Now, if you went in there with a radio microphone
- 6:37Speaker 4: to be a different story, because you're a different person,
- 6:39Speaker 4: You're a more confident person.
- 6:40Speaker 1: You tell them all to go fuck themselves.
- 6:41Speaker 6: You got to go in with behind the mike, Taylor
- 6:44Speaker 6: and just start yelling, hey, coach, looking good today, and
- 6:48Speaker 6: then it just prepares you for when you're about to
- 6:50Speaker 6: ask a question. He knows though, that loudmouth over there
- 6:52Speaker 6: is definitely going to go off.
- 6:54Speaker 7: There's there's just something so uncomfortable for me where you
- 6:58Speaker 7: don't know where the next question is going to come.
- 7:00Speaker 3: I'm from.
- 7:00Speaker 7: Yes, the only press conferences that I've liked is when
- 7:03Speaker 7: I've gone to UNC and the SID, the sport information
- 7:07Speaker 7: director there is like, Okay, we're gonna go to Megan
- 7:12Speaker 7: in row two first, and then Taylor in row two, and.
- 7:14Speaker 6: It's like the Mimmy heat games. They pass around a
- 7:17Speaker 6: microphone and they only give it to you and question right.
- 7:19Speaker 4: So Taylor likes when it's organized, not a free for all.
- 7:22Speaker 4: But and I understand why you would be confused, like
- 7:24Speaker 4: no one knows who's going next. I don't like that
- 7:26Speaker 4: environment either. I'm intimidated by.
- 7:27Speaker 2: You understand it, but you don't remember.
- 7:29Speaker 4: I just go and I don't care who the fuck
- 7:31Speaker 4: is sitting there, and I don't care what their credentials are.
- 7:33Speaker 1: I have a question, I'm gonna ask it. I don't
- 7:35Speaker 1: care if I have a mic.
- 7:35Speaker 6: When they sent Taylor to Mac Collins where he would
- 7:39Speaker 6: just have to yell question to his best friend.
- 7:43Speaker 7: Even in that situation, I was like, man, I'm kind
- 7:45Speaker 7: of uncomfortable. Mac is looking at me like, are you
- 7:47Speaker 7: gonna ask anything? I'm like, I'm kind of waiting for
- 7:50Speaker 7: for Mike Reese to finish asking a question.
- 7:54Speaker 1: You were showing some sort of respect to Mike re Man.
- 7:59Speaker 6: There's certain people if you're at if it's their super
- 8:02Speaker 6: Bowl and they're the beat, right, come on, man, Reese's
- 8:04Speaker 6: a Boston legend.
- 8:05Speaker 4: No, I'm not saying that he's not a Boston legend.
- 8:08Speaker 4: I'm just like, but Mac Collins is Taylor's best friend.
- 8:12Speaker 4: It's the one time where he's got something over Mike Reese.
- 8:15Speaker 1: You know, use it.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Reporter's over, Bros.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Lex Reese.
- 8:19Speaker 1: This is my guest.
- 8:20Speaker 4: You'll ask a question when I'm done, and not a
- 8:22Speaker 4: second sooner. Who else is intimidating in that in that situation?
- 8:27Speaker 1: Salpal? Yeah, if you're in a Philadelphia Yeah, Tim Reynolds,
- 8:30Speaker 1: if you ask a question.
- 8:31Speaker 4: If anyone other than salth Pal is asking questions in
- 8:34Speaker 4: an Eagles press conference, we're making a big mistake.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Put it on a poletale.
- 8:37Speaker 6: If you're in one of those little breakout situations with
- 8:39Speaker 6: an athlete and it's a Philadelphia player and Salpal starts
- 8:43Speaker 6: walking toward, you got to clear out, Yes, just clear out,
- 8:45Speaker 6: Let him have his time, and then we'll continue with
- 8:48Speaker 6: what we were doing.
- 8:49Speaker 1: I'm guessing here we should get him on and ask
- 8:51Speaker 1: him this.
- 8:52Speaker 4: That francessa who did not attend a ton of press
- 8:54Speaker 4: conferences or news conferences, but.
- 8:56Speaker 1: What he did, he just assumed that he was the
- 9:00Speaker 1: league guy, right, I can see that.
- 9:04Speaker 7: Yeah, So this kind I wish mikey A was here
- 9:06Speaker 7: because this kind of happened to us when we were
- 9:08Speaker 7: at Radio Row for Super Bowl where we were trying
- 9:11Speaker 7: to talk to Tommy DeVito and mikey A Mike I'm
- 9:15Speaker 7: I'm behind mikey A holding the recorder for him, and
- 9:19Speaker 7: mikey A is trying to get in there so we
- 9:21Speaker 7: could ask him chicken marsala or chicken parmesan, of course,
- 9:24Speaker 7: and the guy from Syracuse, where Tommy DeVito went to school,
- 9:27Speaker 7: is looking at mikey As like, don't even think about
- 9:30Speaker 7: wasting my time right now with those kind of questions.
- 9:33Speaker 7: I have to ask Tommy DeVito about how Syracuse led
- 9:36Speaker 7: him to this moment being the third string quarterback in
- 9:38Speaker 7: this Super Bowl.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Oh, that's so important. Yeah, I mean, that's so funny.
- 9:42Speaker 1: The kids at Syracuse. He's a student at Syracuse.
- 9:45Speaker 3: No, I believe he was with some Syracuse news affiliates.
- 9:47Speaker 6: He's looking over at mikey Ya is like, do you
- 9:49Speaker 6: understand the future that I'm trying to have here? And
- 9:52Speaker 6: it's not coming up to it, dude, and asking him
- 9:55Speaker 6: chicken marsala or chicken pacata or whatever the chicken question was.
- 9:58Speaker 4: Wait, so you're just going back to Hawie for second.
- 10:00Speaker 4: If you're that reporter, are you asking it? Is he
- 10:02Speaker 4: what's more important? You're asking career? No, but you're asking
- 10:06Speaker 4: it from Syracuse. You're asking it because this is the
- 10:10Speaker 4: day he might answer the question, or because your bosses
- 10:13Speaker 4: expect you to answer, to ask that question even though
- 10:15Speaker 4: it's been asked a thousand times.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Which one the question about A. J.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Brown?
- 10:20Speaker 6: Oh okay, I thought we were talking about chicken pacata. No,
- 10:22Speaker 6: not that question, that question, but yeah, absolutely, that one
- 10:26Speaker 6: you have to ask at that point.
- 10:27Speaker 4: The other because if your bosses, or because it's your job,
- 10:30Speaker 4: because you know you're not getting an answer there.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Same thing.
- 10:32Speaker 6: It's because you're you're every time you're worried about your job,
- 10:35Speaker 6: it's because you're worried about your boss.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Yeah, but you can't just say, hey, boss, he's not
- 10:37Speaker 1: going to answer it. I don't want to ask it today.
- 10:39Speaker 6: If you want to gamble every single day and not
- 10:42Speaker 6: ask the question time, but the day that they, you know,
- 10:46Speaker 6: finally let something out right, you're like, damn it, I
- 10:48Speaker 6: didn't ask today, right, this other guy asked, and I
- 10:51Speaker 6: got beat on the story.
- 10:52Speaker 1: I asked chicken parmer, chicken marsala.
- 10:55Speaker 3: To be fair to mikey A.
- 10:57Speaker 7: If your two options are hearing about Tommy to veto
- 11:00Speaker 7: how his years at Syracuse impacted him to become this
- 11:04Speaker 7: backup quarterback journey or does he prefer tier Massoux or Lasagna. Yeah,
- 11:11Speaker 7: you'd rather hear the tier Masoux versus Lasagna.
- 11:13Speaker 6: Yes, I've seen the Kurt Warner movie. I don't think
- 11:15Speaker 6: his answer is gonna be any better than that. I
- 11:17Speaker 6: need to know hits the Italian bona fide.
- 11:19Speaker 4: Of course, but not everyone is, you know, is as
- 11:21Speaker 4: comfortable as we are in our jobs with what we're doing.
- 11:25Speaker 1: This kid needs to make a living.
- 11:26Speaker 8: Well.
- 11:26Speaker 6: This poor kid probably looked at mikey A and said,
- 11:28Speaker 6: you know what, I think, I'm just changing careers because
- 11:30Speaker 6: if that's.
- 11:31Speaker 2: What I'm gonna have to do. Eventually, has asked this
- 11:33Speaker 2: guy which chicken dick in the box?
- 11:34Speaker 1: That guy out too, mikey A.
- 11:36Speaker 3: I mean what his poor kid was also like fifty
- 11:38Speaker 3: years old.
- 11:39Speaker 1: He was a cage event.
- 11:44Speaker 4: And he was trying to tell the young whipper snappers, Hey,
- 11:48Speaker 4: no chicken mars salar or chicken palm questions.
- 11:51Speaker 1: I have a serious.
- 11:52Speaker 4: Surgeries question to ask him. That's why I've kept this
- 11:55Speaker 4: job for twenty five years.
- 11:56Speaker 2: I've changed my tune. He just needs to retire give
- 11:59Speaker 2: it up.

- 14:03Speaker 4: Provides live coverage of the twenty twenty six NFL Draft
- 14:07Speaker 4: from Pittsburgh April twenty third through the twenty fifth. Ian
- 14:12Speaker 4: Where does the draft rank for you? In terms of
- 14:14Speaker 4: sporting events on the calendar. For me, it's number two,
- 14:16Speaker 4: right behind augusta.
- 14:17Speaker 5: Wow, oh on the whole calendar. Yes, I mean yes, yes,
- 14:21Speaker 5: it's See it's weird for me because when you cover
- 14:24Speaker 5: it and you're involved in it, it's not like sitting
- 14:26Speaker 5: on the couch dricking a beer watching the Masters. So
- 14:29Speaker 5: like I don't know that I can even compare it
- 14:31Speaker 5: to something I would watch.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Okay, you know what I mean.
- 14:34Speaker 5: Yes, but I will say this in my calendar, it's
- 14:37Speaker 5: my favorite, Like it's the best, you know, like the
- 14:41Speaker 5: because like free agency is intense and very very important
- 14:45Speaker 5: in my world, right because like in a lot of ways,
- 14:47Speaker 5: pretty miserable, Like you don't sleep, you're on the phone
- 14:50Speaker 5: all the time, You're stressed NonStop. You know, every great
- 14:54Speaker 5: scoop that you have is followed by someone else having
- 14:57Speaker 5: something else, or something didn't work out as you wanted,
- 14:59Speaker 5: or it's just it's extremely stressful. Playoffs are great, but
- 15:04Speaker 5: there's always head coaching searches during it. Super Bowl is fun,
- 15:08Speaker 5: but we have an eight and a half hour pregium show,
- 15:09Speaker 5: so I'm always like so tired by the game. Draft
- 15:12Speaker 5: is just the best, Like it's stressful, yes, but it's
- 15:16Speaker 5: so exciting. It's like weeks and weeks and weeks of
- 15:18Speaker 5: work and then you just get to watch it all
- 15:22Speaker 5: unfold and like in real time figure it out with
- 15:24Speaker 5: the rest of the world, and it's like, you know,
- 15:27Speaker 5: the tension and the drama. Like I just I love
- 15:31Speaker 5: it so much.
- 15:32Speaker 6: Do you like it more or less that it's now
- 15:34Speaker 6: longer and kind of drug out over a course of
- 15:37Speaker 6: several days.
- 15:40Speaker 5: I never really knew it when it was just two
- 15:42Speaker 5: days because I started when it was I think I
- 15:44Speaker 5: think when they added the third day. But like, I
- 15:47Speaker 5: like it now as it is because as much as
- 15:51Speaker 5: I like, like, hey, who'd you pick? Who'd you pick?
- 15:53Speaker 5: Who'd you pick? I like the analysis and the is
- 15:56Speaker 5: this team going to trade? And what does this mean?
- 15:58Speaker 5: Like I like all that stuff, and you know, I
- 16:03Speaker 5: like going to bed on Thursday and being like, all right,
- 16:05Speaker 5: somebody's on the clock for thirty three. A couple of
- 16:08Speaker 5: teams will make some trades based on the players they
- 16:10Speaker 5: just got, like, you know, let's have a good two days.
- 16:13Speaker 5: And I just, you know, I think the whole thing
- 16:15Speaker 5: is pretty awesome. Honestly.
- 16:16Speaker 4: How do you feel about the first team, the team
- 16:19Speaker 4: with the first pick in the NFL draft this year,
- 16:21Speaker 4: it would be the Las Vegas Raiders having two minutes
- 16:23Speaker 4: instead of five.
- 16:24Speaker 1: I mean, let's go, You've had the entire offseason to
- 16:26Speaker 1: figure it out.
- 16:27Speaker 5: I think it's nine, isn't it seven? Is it seven? Now?
- 16:31Speaker 1: It's five too many? As far as I'm concerned, you know, I.
- 16:33Speaker 5: Want all of it. No, because I sit there in
- 16:36Speaker 5: front of my camera with a microphone and you know
- 16:39Speaker 5: the whole world is watching. I'm gonna make sure I
- 16:41Speaker 5: get something to say. I want to make sure I
- 16:43Speaker 5: get to jump in there, you know, So like, should
- 16:45Speaker 5: be twenty minutes, set up the drama. You know, you
- 16:49Speaker 5: don't want to just get on with it. You want
- 16:50Speaker 5: to milk it. So yeah, I would say should be longer.
- 16:54Speaker 4: Where are you on Mendoza as far as a number
- 16:56Speaker 4: one overall pick? Like, where are you on his game?
- 16:58Speaker 4: Do you think it's going to translate to the NFL?
- 17:00Speaker 5: Well, I would say, first of all, from the Raiders perspective,
- 17:05Speaker 5: they seem very convicted that this is their guy, and
- 17:07Speaker 5: that's that's where you want to be picking a quarterback
- 17:09Speaker 5: number one. You'd like to say, like all right, like
- 17:13Speaker 5: this is the guy and for quarterbacks. To me, it's
- 17:17Speaker 5: either like, this guy's worthy of the number one pick
- 17:20Speaker 5: or he's not a starter, right, because like, if you
- 17:23Speaker 5: have any starting quarterback in the NFL who is worthy
- 17:27Speaker 5: of getting a contract extension, in other words, he's your
- 17:30Speaker 5: starter so much so where you're like, we're gonna put
- 17:32Speaker 5: fifty million dollars or sixty million or whatever it is
- 17:35Speaker 5: behind him, he is worthy of being the number one pick.
- 17:38Speaker 5: So the question for Fernanda Mendoza is like is he
- 17:40Speaker 5: a guy? That's it. It's is he a guy? And
- 17:43Speaker 5: I believe that he is a guy. The Raiders think
- 17:46Speaker 5: he is a guy, and you know, we'll not get
- 17:50Speaker 5: We're not going to know until he gets out there,
- 17:52Speaker 5: probably by the third year. But just based on what
- 17:55Speaker 5: he is like mentally and intangible wise, seems like he's
- 18:00Speaker 5: headed for a pretty bright future.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Is tie a guy? I was going to make that
- 18:04Speaker 1: a lot of question, but I question, yes, Yes, it's
- 18:08Speaker 1: a good question.
- 18:09Speaker 5: So it's a good question. And I think quarterbacks so
- 18:11Speaker 5: often are judged based on the body of work, and
- 18:14Speaker 5: he doesn't have a long body of work. You know,
- 18:16Speaker 5: it's not like, you know, like even the sort of
- 18:19Speaker 5: sleeper quarterbacks of that success. Brock Perdy would be a
- 18:22Speaker 5: good example. Have a long history of starting, so you've
- 18:24Speaker 5: seen a lot, You've been in a lot of situations,
- 18:26Speaker 5: so you can react like you know, you're you've you've
- 18:31Speaker 5: done enough to where people can say, like, based on
- 18:33Speaker 5: what he's done, he's going to be successful. I don't
- 18:37Speaker 5: know what Ty Simpson. He hasn't done a lot and
- 18:39Speaker 5: I think by the end of the year this year
- 18:41Speaker 5: he wasn't playing great. But he's got a lot of tools,
- 18:44Speaker 5: he's got good makeup, and you've seen him do it.
- 18:47Speaker 5: So I think it's a little more of a toss up.
- 18:50Speaker 5: But you know, my guess is he's probably a late one.
- 18:54Speaker 5: So that's more of an understandable investment as opposed to
- 18:58Speaker 5: like someone taking him. What's just a you know second overall.
- 19:02Speaker 7: And there was a report earlier this week about Ruben
- 19:04Speaker 7: Bain from Miami and him being involved in a twenty
- 19:07Speaker 7: twenty four accident in which a person later died. What
- 19:11Speaker 7: do NFL teams know about that and how do you
- 19:13Speaker 7: think it will impact him on draft night?
- 19:18Speaker 5: I would say teams have known everything about it. You know,
- 19:21Speaker 5: they really have had a pretty good idea, you know,
- 19:25Speaker 5: probably since before the start of the year. I mean,
- 19:27Speaker 5: you know, I've heard about it. It was it was
- 19:29Speaker 5: not exactly a secret. I mean, there was a public
- 19:31Speaker 5: GoFundMe page, there was a public charge, and he was
- 19:34Speaker 5: a very high profile player, like this is something that
- 19:37Speaker 5: a lot of people knew about. They've been able to
- 19:40Speaker 5: question him directly, They've been able to get the info.
- 19:43Speaker 5: You know, we also know the facts of the situation,
- 19:47Speaker 5: which are his charge was dismissed, he was not charged
- 19:53Speaker 5: with speeding, there was no DUI tests at the scene,
- 19:57Speaker 5: you know, so there's there's a lot there. But teams
- 19:59Speaker 5: have had the ability to do the due diligence and find,
- 20:03Speaker 5: you know, at least some sort of a comfort level
- 20:05Speaker 5: with what obviously has been a tragedy in a non
- 20:07Speaker 5: football sense.
- 20:08Speaker 4: I find what's happening here with the Philadelphia Eagles to
- 20:11Speaker 4: be fascinating from the standpoint They've had an amazing amount
- 20:14Speaker 4: of success over the last four or five years, and
- 20:16Speaker 4: yet there's still turmoil inside that organization with Jalen Hurts
- 20:20Speaker 4: and AJ Brown And I know Howie Roseman just had
- 20:23Speaker 4: to talk about it again. How do you think the
- 20:25Speaker 4: AJ Brown situation is going to play out in Philadelphia.
- 20:29Speaker 5: Yeah, I would say most likely you're looking at a trade.
- 20:31Speaker 5: I mean, look, anything's possible, and I've seen seen things
- 20:36Speaker 5: that I knew for sure were going to happen end
- 20:38Speaker 5: up not happening, you know. I mean the Max Crosby trade.
- 20:40Speaker 5: I think this year was a really good example of that.
- 20:44Speaker 5: But if you say to me, what's my guess as
- 20:46Speaker 5: far as most likely, I mean, he's probably traded to
- 20:48Speaker 5: the Patriots in June. I think that's what most people believe.
- 20:51Speaker 5: And that's not a surprise, that's not news. That's sort
- 20:54Speaker 5: of you know, it seems like that's the way it's heading.
- 20:56Speaker 5: It's just you know, everyone's in a little bit of
- 20:59Speaker 5: a standstill South already cap wise, because you know, for
- 21:02Speaker 5: the Eagles, they they could do it now, but they'd
- 21:04Speaker 5: have to, you know, move some things around, and so
- 21:10Speaker 5: I think probably everyone ends up waiting, waiting until June.
- 21:13Speaker 4: So it benefits them in some sort of financial capacity
- 21:17Speaker 4: if they wait until after June first.
- 21:18Speaker 5: Is that?
- 21:19Speaker 1: Is that what it is?
- 21:19Speaker 5: Yeah? Just simply it's uh, it's a forty million dollar
- 21:23Speaker 5: dead cap hit if they do the trade now, it's
- 21:25Speaker 5: only twenty million dollars if they do it after June first.
- 21:29Speaker 6: Ian, This is like when we talk in NFL. For
- 21:32Speaker 6: whatever reason, we got a couple of Jets fans on
- 21:34Speaker 6: this podcast. All right, he's probably talking more to in fact,
- 21:38Speaker 6: that credit happened. This is our super Bowl man, leave
- 21:40Speaker 6: me alone. Me come on, I credit Stu gots In
- 21:42Speaker 6: Mike Greenberg for keeping the Jets relevant nationally because they're
- 21:46Speaker 6: fans rich real, yeah, famously, of course. Yes, I've heard
- 21:50Speaker 6: some things that the Jets are excited about a certain
- 21:53Speaker 6: wide receiver falling to them at number sixteen.
- 21:55Speaker 2: So anytime we get a chance to.
- 21:57Speaker 6: Talk up a possible positive for the Jets, I'd try
- 21:59Speaker 6: to get this opportunity for stud So tell me about
- 22:01Speaker 6: the Jets maybe getting MacKaye Lemon to fall to them.
- 22:04Speaker 4: Well, the problem is the Jets always make it a negative.
- 22:06Speaker 4: They turn a positive into a negative like no other
- 22:07Speaker 4: team I've ever seen. But anyway, go ahead.
- 22:10Speaker 5: So I don't know that it would be McKay lemon
- 22:12Speaker 5: falling to sixteen. I mean to me, like that's probably
- 22:16Speaker 5: his window right there is like in the you know,
- 22:19Speaker 5: let's say eleven to twenty range. I mean, he's one
- 22:23Speaker 5: of the top three receivers in the draft, it feels
- 22:25Speaker 5: like he's more two slash three as opposed to number one.
- 22:28Speaker 5: It feels to me like Taita's number one. And you know,
- 22:34Speaker 5: there's gonna be like, let's say before sixteen, you'll probably
- 22:37Speaker 5: get four linemen, four tackles. You might get a guard
- 22:40Speaker 5: in there too. You get probably three edge rushers, you
- 22:44Speaker 5: might get a tight end. So it's like, you know,
- 22:47Speaker 5: and this is one thing that's weird for the draft.
- 22:49Speaker 5: It's like, can you believe this guy fell? And you're like, well,
- 22:53Speaker 5: sort of fell. But also like all these teams just
- 22:55Speaker 5: needed tackles or all these teams had tackles ready to highly,
- 22:58Speaker 5: so like, I think it's possible. I don't know for
- 23:02Speaker 5: sure that that would be their guy, but I know
- 23:05Speaker 5: that a lot of people really like Makay Lemon, And
- 23:08Speaker 5: you know, the comp is a'mon Ross Saint Brown, which
- 23:10Speaker 5: I mean, if that's right what he ends up being,
- 23:12Speaker 5: I think Jets fans will probably be pretty excited about it.
- 23:14Speaker 7: Yes, Ian, On the opposite end of that spectrum, who
- 23:17Speaker 7: are some names that you're hearing that are rising up
- 23:20Speaker 7: draft boards?
- 23:23Speaker 5: You know, I would say the tackles are probably rising,
- 23:30Speaker 5: you know, feeling from Georgia Proctor from Alabama, And those
- 23:33Speaker 5: are ones that I would say maybe top twenty now
- 23:36Speaker 5: maybe you know, probably top fifteen, a top twenty before,
- 23:40Speaker 5: maybe top fifteen. Now, there's a safety from Oregon named
- 23:44Speaker 5: Dylan Tanneman who I think a lot of people really
- 23:46Speaker 5: really like, who's almost surely a first rounder. Now you
- 23:49Speaker 5: might not have thought that a little bit ago. I
- 23:53Speaker 5: would say Monsieur Delaine for sure, the top corner, you know,
- 23:57Speaker 5: probably a top twelve pick. I mean, those are short
- 24:00Speaker 5: sort of the names we're talking about. And I think
- 24:04Speaker 5: it's weird because what the draft basically ends up being
- 24:07Speaker 5: is until you get to like two weeks out, it's
- 24:10Speaker 5: just who have you heard of?
- 24:11Speaker 1: Right?
- 24:11Speaker 5: And so those are the guys that get mocked. Now
- 24:13Speaker 5: it's like you really dig in, you learn about these guys,
- 24:16Speaker 5: and so the real analysis kind of happens.
- 24:18Speaker 2: And I'm not sure.
- 24:19Speaker 6: I don't think we love the idea when people put
- 24:21Speaker 6: out mock drafts to suggest proposed trades and like, because
- 24:25Speaker 6: I mean talk it's hard enough to make get the
- 24:27Speaker 6: draft right when you're starting to throw in trades there,
- 24:30Speaker 6: But is there a team or two that intrigues you
- 24:32Speaker 6: that might definitely pull off a trade, either getting out
- 24:36Speaker 6: of a spot or you know, trying to build up.
- 24:39Speaker 5: I'll give you one each trade. And by the way,
- 24:40Speaker 5: I like when mock drafts have trades.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Do you yeah, same, I do too.
- 24:44Speaker 5: Yes, it's fun, like it's just you know, it also
- 24:48Speaker 5: gives you a chance to be right and then you
- 24:50Speaker 5: can be like, dude, I just predicted this well. I
- 24:52Speaker 5: mean level where it was like if you're taking big
- 24:54Speaker 5: hacks right seventeen you have like the Lions getting like,
- 24:58Speaker 5: you know, Caden Proctor something, it's like congratulations.
- 25:01Speaker 1: I think tackling.
- 25:04Speaker 5: I would say probably Cowboys would be a team that
- 25:09Speaker 5: could move up for a impact, you know, big time
- 25:13Speaker 5: defensive talent, you know in the Ruben Bain ilk maybe
- 25:19Speaker 5: it's Rvel Reese, you know, if he falls to like
- 25:23Speaker 5: four or five. I mean there's there's different moves they
- 25:26Speaker 5: can make. But I would say Cowboys moving up would
- 25:28Speaker 5: be a possibility. Texans moving out at twenty eight. I
- 25:33Speaker 5: know a lot of teams at the end of the
- 25:34Speaker 5: draft always want to move out. But if someone comes
- 25:37Speaker 5: up for Ty Simpson, do the Texans end up trading out.
- 25:40Speaker 5: I think that's one that would you know, sort of
- 25:42Speaker 5: make sense to me.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Cowboys moving up for Baines sounds like a very Cowboys move.
- 25:45Speaker 5: Yes, yeah, I mean, you know, I don't know what
- 25:49Speaker 5: he's gonna end up being, but he is for sure talented.
- 25:52Speaker 5: The arm length is real. That's a real thing. Yep,
- 25:55Speaker 5: there's not there's no historical precedent on someone with you know,
- 26:02Speaker 5: those arms being picked that highly. But you know, we'll
- 26:07Speaker 5: see what it ends up being.
- 26:09Speaker 4: You mentioned Max Crosby before. Do you expect him to
- 26:12Speaker 4: be a Raider when the season starts.
- 26:15Speaker 5: I do expect him to be a Raider the season starts, Okay,
- 26:18Speaker 5: It just it feels like once that trade didn't happen,
- 26:23Speaker 5: and once he kind of settled back with his team
- 26:26Speaker 5: and got to look around and be like, wow, we
- 26:28Speaker 5: actually got some guys. We're going to get a quarterback,
- 26:30Speaker 5: and team's more talented than when he left. You know,
- 26:36Speaker 5: has one has too fewer first round picks obviously over
- 26:39Speaker 5: the next two years, but you know, his look, his
- 26:43Speaker 5: knee I think will be fully healthy probably in August.
- 26:47Speaker 5: Could have trade hapupen then anything's possible. But it feels
- 26:50Speaker 5: to me like most people are moving forward with him
- 26:55Speaker 5: being a member of the Raiders.
- 26:56Speaker 4: If you're the Steelers, are you demanding that Aaron Rodgers
- 26:59Speaker 4: give you an answer before the draft?
- 27:00Speaker 1: Do you think Aaron Rodgers will give them an answer
- 27:02Speaker 1: before the draft.
- 27:04Speaker 5: I don't think I'm demanding anything from the Steelers because
- 27:07Speaker 5: it's sort of like, yeah, you know, first of all,
- 27:09Speaker 5: like they're not going to pick a starter for this year,
- 27:13Speaker 5: so you know, you could demand all you want and
- 27:17Speaker 5: if he goes, no, what do you We'll be like,
- 27:21Speaker 5: all right, then we won't sign you.
- 27:22Speaker 1: It's right.
- 27:22Speaker 5: Probably, Well anyway, yes, I think you'd like an answer,
- 27:25Speaker 5: but I don't know that it honestly matters draft wise,
- 27:27Speaker 5: like if they end up picking you know, let's say,
- 27:30Speaker 5: a quarterback in the first round, like not going to
- 27:34Speaker 5: start this year anyway, I don't think so you'd like
- 27:37Speaker 5: an answer, But I think mostly you'd like an answer
- 27:41Speaker 5: sometime before September so we can take part in the
- 27:43Speaker 5: spring a little bit like you did last year.
- 27:45Speaker 4: I just find it amazing that that organization, a pillar
- 27:48Speaker 4: of stability in the NFL, cannot figure it out, has
- 27:51Speaker 4: nothing in terms of stability at the most important position
- 27:54Speaker 4: in the sport like that.
- 27:55Speaker 1: To me, that's confounding, you know.
- 27:57Speaker 5: I mean, yeah, but that's you know, that's sort of life.
- 28:02Speaker 5: I mean, they also have a new coach this year
- 28:04Speaker 5: for the first time in however many years, and stability
- 28:07Speaker 5: has been great. And I think their fans, you know,
- 28:11Speaker 5: probably were frustrated by all that stability too, because they
- 28:13Speaker 5: wanted excellence rather than stability. I don't know what the
- 28:16Speaker 5: right answer is now. I would say like most likely
- 28:20Speaker 5: Rogers is probably back, but I do know that he
- 28:22Speaker 5: has not given them an answer yet.
- 28:24Speaker 7: In between his production and the injury, it feels like
- 28:27Speaker 7: Travis Hunter was a pretty big disappointment in year one
- 28:30Speaker 7: in Jacksonville. What do you see for him going into
- 28:33Speaker 7: year two so Jacksonville can try to recoup some of
- 28:38Speaker 7: the assets they gave up for him.
- 28:41Speaker 5: Well, I mean, I know that they still think he
- 28:43Speaker 5: can be a special player. He did get injured last year,
- 28:45Speaker 5: and you know, you don't take a player in the
- 28:47Speaker 5: first round and say, like, all right, if he doesn't
- 28:49Speaker 5: perform this year, then you know we've missed. I think
- 28:53Speaker 5: you know, it's a that's a ten year investment, right, Yes,
- 28:57Speaker 5: he got injured last year. I think that was obviously
- 28:59Speaker 5: two bad and I think it was going okay until
- 29:04Speaker 5: that point, but I mean, you know, was drinking from
- 29:06Speaker 5: a fire hose, as coaches always say, was learning a
- 29:09Speaker 5: lot two positions. You know, I would say, this year
- 29:13Speaker 5: feels to me like he'll be more corner than receiver.
- 29:17Speaker 5: I do think he'll be a receiver, but more corner
- 29:19Speaker 5: than receiver. And you know, we'll we'll see when he's
- 29:26Speaker 5: able to focus on defense, which is where most people
- 29:28Speaker 5: thought he would be a success in the draft. You know,
- 29:31Speaker 5: what kind of a player is he? I think that'll
- 29:32Speaker 5: be interesting.
- 29:33Speaker 1: What are you hearing, Jeremiah Love.
- 29:38Speaker 5: You know, it feels to me like his dable end earlier.
- 29:41Speaker 5: His night will end early. You know, I would say
- 29:43Speaker 5: his window starts at three with the Arizona Cardinals, right,
- 29:47Speaker 5: and you know you got teams all up until seven.
- 29:52Speaker 5: Who could take him? I mean really like I would
- 29:56Speaker 5: also wonder if he gets by, like let's say he
- 29:58Speaker 5: somehow gets to four to someone trade up for him,
- 30:01Speaker 5: and he is you know, there's some people believe who
- 30:03Speaker 5: believe that he is the best overall player regardless of
- 30:06Speaker 5: position in the draft, and so if he's floating there,
- 30:09Speaker 5: I mean I think someone will come up and take him.
- 30:11Speaker 5: So I do not think he'll have a very long wait.
- 30:13Speaker 4: How many texts did you receive during this interview? I
- 30:16Speaker 4: mean I don't envy your guys lifestyle.
- 30:19Speaker 1: I really don't. I mean, it's just don't feel bad
- 30:21Speaker 1: for me. I'm not feeling badly for you. I'm just
- 30:23Speaker 1: saying what I do. Five. Were any of them from
- 30:27Speaker 1: the wife or from family members or anything? I no, No.
- 30:32Speaker 7: What's the level of player that you would have stopped
- 30:35Speaker 7: this interview for to report news?
- 30:37Speaker 1: Yes?
- 30:38Speaker 5: Yes, I mean I would say, like if it was real,
