- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Welcome to Marketplace Proverbs and Coffee with Ernie,
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: where a proverb a day keeps stinking thinking at bay.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: I'm Ernie Lansford.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: And what we're doing is each day we open the book of Proverbs that corresponds to
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: the day of the month,
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: and we just simply ask,
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: what is it saying to us to make us better marketplace leaders,
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: better leaders,
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: Customer success masters,
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: better co-workers, and how can we actually be excellent influencers for culture?
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: That's what we do, and that's the purpose here.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: So thank you for joining me.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: So grab your coffee, and let's reflect on today's proverb.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: I'm reading chapter 29 because it's the 29th day of the month, but only verse 25 from the NIV.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: Power is often misunderstood,
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: and too many people think it's about dominus, ego, or the corner office.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: And I remind you from our previous episodes that we have defined ego as edging God out.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: But in the kingdom of God, power isn't about pushing.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: It's about serving.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: It's about adding significance.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Power under God's authority is rooted in obedience, is clothed in humility.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: Now, frankly, that's the kind of power that becomes a new KPI, a key partnership indicator.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: It builds trust, multiplies influence, and reflects the heart of God.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: When we trust in God,
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: when we trust Him,
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: when we trust the Holy Spirit,
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: He gives us the power to check our pride and Align our free will with his will
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: and lead with integrity.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: Now, that's real power.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: I'm a big, I'm a lover of acronyms and acrostics.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: So I've taken the word power and I've broken it out as a blueprint for godly leadership.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: The P, let's pray first.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: And that brings us to James 5.16.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: So, before a meeting, negotiation, or decision, pause and pray.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: Prayer doesn't slow momentum.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: It sets direction.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: And then the O in power is obey God's word.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: That brings us to James 1.22,
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: quote, Be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: Obedience isn't weakness, it's authority under alignment.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: God's word must shape how we think, speak, and act, and serve in adding significance.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: The W in power is walk in humility.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: Which brings us to verse 23 in this particular chapter of Proverbs
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: 29.

- 4:12SPEAKER_00: Ego, edging God out, demands personal control.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: It demands control of the situation.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: But humility earns respect.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: The E in power is empower others.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: That's 1 Thessalonians 5.1.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: Power is for building, not hoarding.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: Authentic leadership lifts up others, helping them grow in confidence, competence, and calling.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: And the R in power is reflect Christ.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: Matthew 5, 16,
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: let your light shine before others so they may see your good works and give glory
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: to your Father in heaven.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: When we walk in godly power, people don't just see us, they see him.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: And that's what true leadership looks like.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: So whether you're leading a team, Running a business or serving on the front line.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: My favorite term with affection is pavement pounder.
