Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: Welcome to Become who you Are.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Podcast production of the John Paul 2 Renewal Center.
- 0:11Speaker 1: I'm Jack Rickards, your host.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Hey, thanks for joining me today.
- 0:14Speaker 1: St Catherine of Siena said that if you become who you are, that you would literally set the world on fire.
- 0:19Speaker 1: And St Athanasius, an early church father and the doctor of the church, said the son of God became man so that we might become God.
- 0:26Speaker 1: You know I make a while to guess at this, but I bet you, most of us, are a bit disconnected from this divine life that these saints are pointing us to.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Yet St John Paul II said there's an echo of this story, of this divine life that we're created for, inscribed in each human heart, in your human heart, and if you put on a proper lens, if I put on a proper lens, we can get in touch with this echo within us in such a way that we have that aha moment.
- 0:50Speaker 1: See, that's the genus of St John Paul II's theology the body.
- 0:53Speaker 1: It connects our lived experience of life to the gospel in such a way that our life takes on a whole new meaning and helps us answer those big questions that our whole culture is so confused about today.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Who am I?
- 1:06Speaker 1: What's my purpose?
- 1:07Speaker 1: Why were we created male and female?
- 1:09Speaker 1: How do I find happiness here on earth?
- 1:11Speaker 1: How do I find love that satisfies forever?
- 1:13Speaker 1: Hey, glad you're with me.
- 1:15Speaker 1: I'll be right back for today's episode.
- 1:17Speaker 1: It's so good to be with Linda Piper from Pennsylvania.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Linda, how are you Good to see you.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Doing great.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Nice to see you, Jack.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Well, we're going to jump in here, linda.
- 1:37Speaker 1: This is a very interesting audience presented by John Paul II on St Patrick's Day that's my birthday, march 17th, so 1982.
- 1:46Speaker 1: It's a very interesting name three kinds of eunuchs, and with a question mark why is that Three kinds of eunuchs?
- 1:54Speaker 1: So we're continuing the reflection we started last week about virginity or celibacy for the kingdom of heaven.
- 2:01Speaker 1: John Paul says that it's an important topic also for a complete analysis of theology of the body.
- 2:08Speaker 1: So interesting again tonight that I present, linda, this stolen innocence.
- 2:12Speaker 1: We live in a hypersexualized time, a time of drag queen, story hours, a pornographic culture, a pride parade where we no longer ashamed of any behavior, in fact we're proud of all of these kind of deviant, kind of twisted distortions of our sexuality, a time where the idea of self sacrifice itself is not only rejected, it's thought to be impossible, right, and here's John Paul comes in and says continents for the kingdom of heaven.
- 2:43Speaker 1: What, what, what does giving up sex on earth have to do with heaven?
- 2:48Speaker 1: I mean, today's culture would say you will die if you don't have sex.
- 2:52Speaker 1: You know that, that, that you know it's.
- 2:55Speaker 1: It's what happens.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Who am I if I don't lust for sex?
- 2:59Speaker 1: Am I still a man?
- 3:00Speaker 1: Am I still a woman?
- 3:01Speaker 1: And then finally, of course, this is the time that doesn't even know what it means to be a woman, not even our new Supreme Court justice can answer that question, the most basic, fundamental of all questions, and and the highest court.
- 3:15Speaker 1: We have somebody in the highest court of the land that cannot answer a basic question that every single parent that has a child right away says what is it a boy, is it a girl?
- 3:26Speaker 1: That's what everybody wants to know.
- 3:28Speaker 1: I mean, this is how basic this is.
- 3:29Speaker 1: It's amazing how.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Satan loves to get in there and twist and distort this.
- 3:35Speaker 2: And Jack, it has so infiltrated every aspect of our culture, the medical world, when I had to find new doctors moving to Pennsylvania.
- 3:45Speaker 2: So they have all the questionnaires you have to fill out and it has a distinction with your sex or gender which you don't even have to identify, but then it has separately what you identify male or female, and then what was assigned at birth.
- 4:04Speaker 2: They use all of that woke language.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Wait, wait, wait, wait.
- 4:07Speaker 2: This is for your just just to get a primary care doctor.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you know, and it just absolutely drives me wild.
- 4:20Speaker 1: So back up a second.
- 4:21Speaker 1: So this isn't college, this isn't a college document.
- 4:25Speaker 1: This is in our medical field, right?
- 4:28Speaker 1: And so these doctors who deliver babies, I would imagine, and have something to do with children at some point, or even with men and women as patients, and they are asking these questions?
- 4:41Speaker 1: I mean, this shows how deep this ideology goes and how pervasive it is when they ask you what was the question?
- 4:49Speaker 1: Again, was signed at birth and right.
- 4:52Speaker 2: I mean.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Well, it was asking for your gender and alongside the traditional male, female or prefer not to say that's an option, okay, they had what was assigned at birth, your sex agenda assigned at birth.
- 5:09Speaker 2: I think I used to.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Unbelievable right.
- 5:11Speaker 1: And so this is the medical industrial complex, which is huge, which is all about profit.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Today They've lost sight of the patients and of course this is tied into the pharma industry and complex is tied into this and they're all working together and it's very nefarious.
- 5:29Speaker 1: It's past the point, I think, of a profit slender and just control.
- 5:35Speaker 1: It really is an evil that's permeated, that I mean, when the whole this whole medical, my youngest daughter I know this so well because my youngest daughter is a doctor and as a young doctor she's so disgusted with so much of what they're doing, even rushing her with patience, because it's all about numbers and it's all about providing these services that are open to transgendering kids, and of course, that ties back into even things like Planned Parenthood, where a big part of their business now is not just killing live babies.
- 6:13Speaker 1: A lot of it's pharma right.
- 6:14Speaker 1: They want to give you a pill so that you can kill this baby, can die in your own home, which is really traumatic for so many men and women today, especially women, of course.
- 6:23Speaker 1: And then the cross-sex hormones and puberty blockers.
- 6:27Speaker 1: I mean this has become puberty blockers have become a huge industry, and so all of this feeds into this.
- 6:33Speaker 1: But it's not only profit, it's really evil.
- 6:36Speaker 1: You see, coming at it right, satan doesn't have his own clay.
- 6:40Speaker 1: He can only use what God created good and use people to come in and twist and distort that.
- 6:45Speaker 1: I think this will reflect back then on what we're going to be talking about today.
- 6:51Speaker 2: And at the root of it, this total loss of understanding our human dignity, where it comes from, and being made male and female in God's image.
- 7:01Speaker 2: It's just a total lack of recognizing that and understanding it and its implications.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Yeah, Gaudium.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Asbestos says that when God has forgotten, the creature itself grows unintelligible.
- 7:15Speaker 1: We no longer know who we are.
- 7:17Speaker 2: We're there, jack.
- 7:18Speaker 1: We're there, we are so there, you know, alexander Schultz and Eatzen said this.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Sometime after that, right After he got out of the gulags, he comes to the United States and they were asking him what happened.
- 7:31Speaker 1: You know how do people fall for communism, marxism, and he says well, I have to recite something that I learned as a child, 50 years before I'm standing here today before communism, we all saw this coming in the Soviet Union.
- 7:46Speaker 1: My relatives and they said when men have forgotten God, men have forgotten God, was his statement.
- 7:53Speaker 1: He said all of this is coming because men have forgotten God.
- 7:56Speaker 1: It's amazing, right so in here then, it's very interesting that John Paul II, in this audience which again is number 74, if you're following us a man and a woman.
- 8:07Speaker 1: He created them.
- 8:08Speaker 1: It's very interesting that Jesus wants to root what he's saying here, here, in this heavenly, in this earthly, here and now, the earthly, here and now, which is really interesting, linda, because you have other religions, you know promising, if you live a certain way, you die a martyr and kill other people, there'll be 100 virgins waiting for you in heaven, you know, to a man.
- 8:32Speaker 1: So we're putting off, we can act any way we want, because we're putting off these actions.
- 8:38Speaker 1: We don't experience them here on earth.
- 8:40Speaker 1: We're going to experience them after we die, right?
- 8:43Speaker 1: But Jesus says something different.
- 8:44Speaker 1: He opens himself into the mentality of his audience at that time and he wants to root what he's going to be talking about here in this earthly period.
- 8:55Speaker 1: In other words, while we're aiming at heaven, we are also living on that path.
- 9:01Speaker 1: It's not two disconnected stories, you know.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Say, a Muslim man growing up indoctrinated may hear look at, if you go out and kill an infidel, you'll have 100 virgins waiting for you in heaven, and et cetera, et cetera.
- 9:15Speaker 1: What Jesus says that?
- 9:17Speaker 1: No, he says that the power we're looking for is not to seek and destroy and use other people.
- 9:23Speaker 1: It's a power to love those other people and forgive those other people as I came, not to manage your sins, but to give you power where the power is to love.
- 9:32Speaker 1: This is a very different story, isn't it?
- 9:35Speaker 1: The power to love?
- 9:35Speaker 1: And he says, to close that thought, it starts here on earth.
- 9:40Speaker 1: In other words, you have to become a person of love in your actions, a person of mercy in your actions.
- 9:45Speaker 1: This is the path to get you to eternal life.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Right, and it happens in the physicality of our bodies, which is why you know we're looking at theology of the body.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Early on we talked about the spousal meaning of the body and that is that love, that power to love that's given to us.
- 10:07Speaker 2: That's the way we're made and that is how we are to live it out.
- 10:11Speaker 2: So union and communion with God is our ultimate goal, but union and communion with others is how we get there.
- 10:19Speaker 2: So what Jesus is also understanding here when he's talking to the apostles about celibacy for the kingdom, is an understanding that in the old Testament context, in all the history of the people at that point, that this idea of celibacy just really wasn't even there, everything had pointed to marriage and procreation, and I think the Pope does a good job of explaining that to us here that this was something totally different in their way of thinking, and that's why Jesus is taking kind of great pains to explain what he's talking about here.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Yeah, this term eunuch refers in their minds to the physical defects that made the procreative power of marriage impossible.
- 11:09Speaker 1: For some reason, it's gonna be impossible.
- 11:11Speaker 1: There's two reasons for that.
- 11:12Speaker 1: One is that people are born that way, and this is very interesting because that's what you hear the trans ideology always refers to.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Well, how about those people that weren't born clearly male or female?
- 11:25Speaker 1: Well, jesus alludes to that here, right?
- 11:26Speaker 1: So these are extremely rare cases of people born without distinctive or even both genitalia sometimes.
- 11:34Speaker 1: But within them not to get in the weeds here but within them you can still tell through their DNA whether they're male or female.
- 11:43Speaker 1: But regardless of that, there are people that are born like that.
- 11:46Speaker 1: It's extremely rare.
- 11:47Speaker 1: But, jesus, that's one of these cases, right, that they were born that way.
- 11:50Speaker 1: The other one is so they were born that way from the mother's womb right and defects acquired.
- 11:57Speaker 1: And then the second one is caused by human intervention.
- 12:01Speaker 1: There are some made eunuchs by men, in other words castrated.
- 12:05Speaker 1: And you saw this with the kings courts.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Sometimes they would castrate men so that they wouldn't fool around with the harem, right, and the kings harems and stuff and concentrate on the king.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Well, in essence, they were made eunuchs by men, but both cases involve a state of external necessity.
- 12:26Speaker 1: John Paul says that is, they are not voluntary.
- 12:29Speaker 1: And in comparison, when Jesus goes on to speak of those made eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven, that's a third category, isn't it, linda?
- 12:40Speaker 2: Third category, which he states is voluntary, because they're making that choice, they're making themselves eunuchs, and when it's done for the kingdom of heaven, it has a supernatural aspect, and so he's clearly distinguishing that third category from the first two.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:03Speaker 1: So I am going to give up something which is basically this opportunity to be married here, to join in the one flesh union of a man and a woman.
- 13:13Speaker 1: I'm going to give that up as a sign pointing to our ultimate marriage with God in heaven, our ultimate union and communion with God in heaven, and that's what marriage here was made for.
- 13:25Speaker 1: So they become a prophetic sign showing us through their voluntary giving up of their sexuality per se but in fact that's not a good way to put it because they still are staying male or female, but they're giving up marriage right, they're making themselves unix.
- 13:43Speaker 1: In other words, they can't enter into a proper marriage.
- 13:45Speaker 1: It's understood by everybody, even in the Old Testament, the people that Jesus is speaking about.
- 13:50Speaker 1: So why would they do that right?
- 13:52Speaker 1: That becomes the question.
- 13:53Speaker 1: This is completely foreign to the men who Christ is speaking to and where the tradition of the Old Testament, like nothing like this, was ever heard of.
- 14:01Speaker 1: In the tradition of the Old Testament there's no room, john Paul said, for the meaning of the body that Christ wants to reveal now, speaking of continents for the kingdom to them.
- 14:12Speaker 1: So it was difficult for them to understand because at those times everybody spoke of marriage and if you couldn't get married, if you couldn't be fertile?
- 14:20Speaker 1: Because we heard in Genesis right, be married, come together and be fertile, multiply.
- 14:26Speaker 1: And so this is a big blessing and it continues to be a blessing today, right, and it's in our human nature to do this, so why wouldn't you choose that?
- 14:34Speaker 1: And Jesus is coming in and giving us a new direction, something totally different.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Yes, and there's something deeper here too, as I was reviewing all that I had pondered when I learned theology.
- 14:48Speaker 2: The body is, as marriage was looked upon mostly from the procreative aspect.
- 14:55Speaker 2: It was important to carry on the family line all the way from Abraham and the promise that there would be many generations that follow.
- 15:06Speaker 2: What they also didn't have was that understanding of the spousal meaning of the body and total gift of self, which is a major part of marriage.
- 15:17Speaker 2: And so, with that peace not quite being in their minds either, it makes it very difficult to understand celibacy for the kingdom, which really are two sides of the same coin that if we understand the spousal meaning of the body, we in fact have to understand it in order to understand celibacy for the kingdom.
- 15:39Speaker 2: And I recall, when you know we will be getting into marriage much more as we move on through theology, the body.
- 15:48Speaker 2: But one thing that seemed to kind of be an umbrella idea for me was understanding that what we've already talked about, our earthly marriage and that union of husband and wife, is the icon for the love of Christ and His Church, that union of Christ and His Church, so it was like earthly marriages and icon for that.
- 16:12Speaker 2: And yet in the Old Testament times they couldn't have that understanding because Christ had not even come yet.
- 16:18Speaker 2: They had probably some pieces of it, but not the total picture as we have now.
- 16:24Speaker 2: And then, conversely, the model of Christ and love for His Church, as St Paul talks about in Ephesians, is the model for our earthly marriage.
- 16:36Speaker 2: So to me it's like we have a two-way streak going.
- 16:39Speaker 2: You know that our marriages are the icon for the love of Christ and His Church, but the love of Christ and His Church is the model for our marriages.
- 16:48Speaker 2: And with that umbrella understanding, then we can talk more about celibacy for the kingdom and how it does make sense.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Yeah, and that link that you're talking about, there's power that comes with that link.
- 17:01Speaker 1: In other words, that model that we model of trinitarian love is beginning here on earth to our earlier point, because we have to draw that grace.
- 17:11Speaker 1: We're drawing that grace into ourselves in order to make this marriage, in its earthly realm, a possible, actually to live this out properly and to be a total gift to another person, in the spousal analogy that we're talking about.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Yet we're pointing just this little, tiny taste we get around on earth as pointing to the depth of what's going to be consummated as we move forward and as we go through our lives.
- 17:36Speaker 1: So this is why it's so beautiful what Christ is saying, because he says Well, watch, some people now are going to voluntarily give this up.
- 17:43Speaker 1: This is what I'm inviting you to, this is what I'm showing you to do, and to show you that not only is it possible to be filled here with divine life and love and then to be those icons of life and love in the world, but that you're already stepping.
- 17:57Speaker 1: You have one foot in this tension right, one foot on earth in this historical time, and you're already putting one foot in heaven.
- 18:04Speaker 1: In essence, though, we're all called to this.
- 18:07Speaker 1: We're all called to start to aim toward this.
- 18:10Speaker 1: It's just that this becomes so clear when we see these people that have chosen to make themselves eunuchs.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Basically right, and they're not damaging.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Here's the thing they're not damaging their bodies, they are not damaging their capability of entering into marriage.
- 18:26Speaker 1: They're voluntarily giving that up and, to your earlier point, they're receiving the supernatural grace in order to do that.
- 18:34Speaker 2: Yes, yes, christopher Wesson is commentary states.
- 18:38Speaker 2: By doing so, by making the choice of being celibate for the kingdom, they step outside the dimensions of history, while living within the dimensions of history, to proclaim to the world that the kingdom of God is here.
- 18:55Speaker 2: So that tension already and not yet.
- 18:58Speaker 2: You know that they're actually, with that supernatural grace, stepping outside of time, in a sense, while living in time.
- 19:06Speaker 2: It's awesome to consider.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:09Speaker 1: And now you know, if we twist, if we show how twisted this has become and how Satan really doesn't have his own clay, he's, you know what a disaster this has on young people.
- 19:19Speaker 1: We see this violent attack on Christianity today, on Christ and his church, and the violent attack on marriage and the family and especially the innocence of our young people.
- 19:27Speaker 1: And so when we enter into those two earlier Examples of the three on Unix so the one is born that way, right, very, very rare, but it does happen.
- 19:38Speaker 1: The second one is Unix, not voluntarily made, but but somebody makes them right, somebody goes out and turns them into Unix.
- 19:47Speaker 1: And we see this with these Transitioners.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Talk about this today, that that they were never free to make this choice.
- 19:54Speaker 1: They said, well, you made this choice when you were 13, 14.
- 19:56Speaker 1: He says no, no, no, no.
- 19:57Speaker 1: You know I was told that was coerced into this.
- 20:00Speaker 1: You know my heart breaks, linda, every time I hear or listen to a transition or tell a story.
- 20:07Speaker 1: You know, one of them that I brought up once or twice in the past is Prisha Moseley, who began socially transitioning to be perceived as a boy when she was 15 years old.
- 20:15Speaker 1: At 17 she started testosterone injections Masculinized her body.
- 20:21Speaker 1: At 18 she underwent elective plastic surgery To have both breasts removed and now, at 24, she's back to living as a woman.
- 20:29Speaker 1: And so it describes her.
- 20:31Speaker 1: And she says this I was so unstable, looking back, I literally didn't want to be alive and I just don't know how that young age plus not being with reality, I can make those kind of decisions that would change my life forever.
- 20:43Speaker 1: I can't believe it.
- 20:44Speaker 1: What is in it for those doctors?
- 20:47Speaker 1: So this is getting back to how we open this up.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Did they generally think they were helping?
- 20:53Speaker 1: And there's no research to support this, she says or is it just about the money?
- 20:58Speaker 1: And and then, finally, this, this really got to me, because the trans community tells you to kill your old self.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Right, it's your dead name.
- 21:07Speaker 1: I literally feel like I killed a child and that child was me.
- 21:12Speaker 1: I mean the suffering, right.
- 21:14Speaker 1: So so these are these ideologies, right?
- 21:16Speaker 1: Men, taking away your other men, men and women, taking away your, you know, your, your sexuality, you know.
- 21:25Speaker 1: And this really goes so now again, and I'll throw this back to you, the main difference that Christ is now stepping into is saying this is voluntary, this is not only voluntary, but but it's you're gonna need a supernatural Origins for this, and this is the difference.
- 21:39Speaker 1: This is the difference because we do hear trans people that are, or anybody right that that's older, that's infused about their sexuality.
- 21:47Speaker 1: You're improperly using, say, their sexuality that is an adult.
- 21:51Speaker 1: But the difference is this Christ says that that it's a voluntary thing, but you also need supernatural grace, and that supernatural grace helps you point yourself to your ultimate goal, to eternal life and eternal love.
- 22:08Speaker 1: So that's the difference, linda.
- 22:10Speaker 1: You know the, the, the people that are confused about their sexuality, and your heart has to go out to them.
- 22:15Speaker 1: I mean, we live in a very dark time for this, but they're not aiming anywhere.
- 22:20Speaker 1: And and here's the problem, you know death is ticking here.
- 22:23Speaker 1: You know our default position body and soul without grace is sin and death.
- 22:29Speaker 1: That's just it.
- 22:29Speaker 1: It the reality.
- 22:31Speaker 1: You can't argue that.
- 22:32Speaker 1: That death is coin is coming and tick, tock every moment.
- 22:36Speaker 1: It's getting closer.
- 22:37Speaker 1: The difference is when you give up your.
- 22:39Speaker 1: You know when you, when you live as a unique right, as it's, as you know, someone for the kingdom.
- 22:44Speaker 1: The difference is that that you're full of grace and that tick, tock, time is coming.
- 22:50Speaker 1: It's a time to rejoice and a time for joy and a time to say yes, I'm getting closer to my eternal love, and then Turning to everybody in the world around you and acting as a loving, caring, merciful person.
- 23:04Speaker 1: This is just a much different picture, isn't it?
- 23:07Speaker 2: Exactly the Pope would say you're living the spousal mystery and one does not have to have children and be married to do that.
- 23:16Speaker 2: So those who are celibate for the kingdom, their goal is that ultimate union.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Right, and how do we do that?
- 23:25Speaker 2: Well, like everyone else, but the context in which they're doing it is different.
- 23:29Speaker 2: You know, we know that those who are living the religious life, the priests in the diet, diocesan priests and so forth, that the whole goal, of course, is that they're living that Self-gift to a different audience than we would be doing in our immediate family.
- 23:47Speaker 2: It was funny, jack.
- 23:49Speaker 2: When you're talking about the issues with the trans people and the confusion, you said they're not aiming anywhere and just 30 seconds before you said that I had written down the word goal.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Yeah, they don't have any goal.
- 24:04Speaker 2: In fact, what has happened is it's all been turned inward.
- 24:10Speaker 2: You know it's all like who am I?
- 24:13Speaker 2: What am I doing?
- 24:14Speaker 2: You know I've got to make changes to my body to survive and all these things, rather than you know the way we are to live, where we're turned outward and being gift to others.
- 24:26Speaker 2: You know, so you can see how it's such an intense Opposite of how we are supposed to live, and not blaming them individually, of course, because Most are so young that they're in that stage of confusion, like every teenager Is, with trying to deal with all the changes.
- 24:45Speaker 1: And then you add puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones to that and actually, like, like Prisha Moseley died just by that time.
- 24:52Speaker 1: She's a young girl.
- 24:53Speaker 1: She had her breast removed already.
- 24:55Speaker 1: It's amazing, right?
- 24:56Speaker 1: This is all happening before your reason, before your reason and your intellect is fully matured.
- 25:03Speaker 1: You know that doesn't even happen till the age about 25 years old.
- 25:06Speaker 1: So they, they take advantage of these younger people.
- 25:10Speaker 1: You know these people, younger and younger and they already have some kind of Mental instability going on.
- 25:16Speaker 1: That's what you're finding over and over.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Many of these young people are being twisted and distorted, have around the spectrum of autism even, and then you see how they you know people can come after them for money, for power, for, for sex even.
- 25:30Speaker 1: You know, it's really something you know.
- 25:32Speaker 1: And yeah, it's a yeah, and how it is abuse.
- 25:35Speaker 1: And how do we treat these young people?
- 25:37Speaker 1: I always say, with patience and understanding, the same way Jesus would sit down with them, enjoy a meal with them, but Jesus loves you so much he's going to spend time with you, but he loves you too much to leave you there right and leave us in our brokenness.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Christ is always leading us somewhere.
- 25:53Speaker 1: More again, getting back to our aiming, what are we aiming at?
- 25:56Speaker 1: You know, st Paul would say we have to aim right at Christ and have our hearts and our bodies and our souls redeemed right.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Redemption of the body we entering to now and then put on the.
- 26:07Speaker 1: The heart and the mind of Christ Filled with the Holy Spirit gives us the power to do that.
- 26:13Speaker 1: It's amazing story, right?
- 26:14Speaker 1: You think, well, how can that happen?
- 26:16Speaker 1: But look what happens when you take that out.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Look at, look at how far we've fallen.
- 26:21Speaker 1: I mean if, in essence, our story of Jesus Christ coming into the story and redeeming us and saving us and bringing us into eternal life looks a lot, you know, you know more inviting today.
- 26:35Speaker 1: You know, after all these Ideologies came in then it ever has, I think, because you see how far we've fallen and we've normalized that fall.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Yeah, yes, as I said earlier, the Concept of marriage and then celibacy for the kingdom are two sides of the same coin.
- 26:55Speaker 2: Well, not only can we not understand celibacy for the kingdom, because we don't have that ultimate Goal in mind and we've taken God out of everything, but even marriage has been tossed out in the traditional sense.
- 27:11Speaker 2: I know there's so many young people who are not married, who, in essence, should be by the age that they are, and many who are married don't want to have children, you know, they just want to have.
- 27:24Speaker 2: I'm not sure exactly what the goal is there, but so, if you take this coin, we've we've stomped on it, we've totally distorted both ideas in our culture, which has fallen so far.
- 27:37Speaker 2: And you're right, because we've taken God out of it, and the only answer, of course, is in the redemption of Christ, in the acceptance of that grace which gives us the power to live the life we're talking about.
- 27:51Speaker 2: I think it was st John who, st John of the cross, who said in the end will be judged on love, and that has stuck in my mind a lot.
- 28:03Speaker 2: I told you a few weeks ago my sister passed away, and so when it's, it's a sibling, you know, and it's your own generation.
- 28:10Speaker 2: You really do start thinking more about death.
- 28:13Speaker 2: And what is my goal here, you know, and that just reverberates in my head, will be judged on love.
- 28:19Speaker 2: So it says to me am I living that life of love, have I become a person of love?
- 28:27Speaker 2: And it's my job, it's all of our jobs to do that.
- 28:33Speaker 1: You know, as we wind up here, you know again body, soul.
- 28:37Speaker 1: Without what we're talking about, without grace, we reject God and we also see that we reject our own bodies.
- 28:43Speaker 1: It's amazing, right and again that the fault position is sin and certainly the reality of death.
- 28:49Speaker 1: It's inescapable.
- 28:51Speaker 1: So so if you just were free, if your reason was free.
- 28:55Speaker 1: We're given reason as human beings.
- 28:58Speaker 1: It makes us different than all the other creatures, so it's a body, soul.
- 29:01Speaker 1: My reason is to search for the truth.
- 29:04Speaker 1: What is the truth?
- 29:04Speaker 1: The first truth is to say that I'm a man or I'm a woman.
- 29:09Speaker 1: You know, this is how I'm created, this is how I got to start.
- 29:12Speaker 1: Now, if you can't even start with that we don't even know what a woman is.
- 29:15Speaker 1: You can't start with that basic truth, then everything else that falls comes behind.
- 29:19Speaker 1: It's going to be a falling right.
- 29:21Speaker 1: We have to stay with the truth, what is true, and then, when we know the truth, we use our free will if it's free.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Too many people today think they're free but they're full of sin.
- 29:32Speaker 1: Sin is weighting them down.
- 29:33Speaker 1: If I'm sinful, if I'm an addict to porn, or drinking, or, or, or, or carousing, or whatever that is selfishness, power, money Then I'm no longer really free.
- 29:43Speaker 1: Right, it's a license to do whatever I need to do.
- 29:46Speaker 1: If you're, if you're really free, your freedom is like a motor, john Paul would say, that seeks to choose the good.
- 29:52Speaker 1: So I use my, that, my reason, to seek the truth and tandem with my, with my conscience, my freedom to choose the good.
- 30:00Speaker 1: What good am I choosing?
- 30:02Speaker 1: Right?
- 30:02Speaker 1: Well, only God is good.
- 30:04Speaker 1: And at the end, what's beautiful?
- 30:06Speaker 1: Right?
- 30:07Speaker 1: And when you see these young people that are destroying and being destroyed their own bodies, you know there's not a truth to that right.
- 30:14Speaker 1: A man can never become a woman, a woman can never become a man.
- 30:17Speaker 1: That's just scientifically true.
- 30:19Speaker 1: And so when you search for the truth, you say, well, this is impossible.
- 30:23Speaker 1: When I'm trying to do right, this is how cloudy we can get.
- 30:26Speaker 1: And then, what's good?
- 30:27Speaker 1: You know what's good?
- 30:27Speaker 1: Well, the good is to love others, to do what you said, you know.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Go the opposite way.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Instead of taking everything in, set a creating yourself in in your own image.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Allow yourself to be created in God's image, which is love.
- 30:39Speaker 1: God is love to love others.
- 30:41Speaker 1: It's only when you start to go out.
- 30:43Speaker 1: We have to act.
- 30:44Speaker 1: Right body, so plus grace, gives you the potential for human freedom and Potential for human flourishing.
- 30:51Speaker 1: But then I have to act to do the good.
- 30:53Speaker 1: And so this is what the medical industrial complex and and all these people, this nefarious thing attacks these young people and we have to stand up for them.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Linda, you know we have to stand up for every young person, every person really, and invite them into the story.
- 31:10Speaker 1: They can reject it then, but they, they deserve to hear this story right and to try it, to step in with if they feel like something's wrong, if they feel they're uncomfortable, if you know, before they take, make all these other choices.
- 31:23Speaker 1: Hopefully they hear this story at least try it, because when they open themselves up to prayer and the sacraments, something will happen to them.
- 31:32Speaker 2: If, if they're, open to that right and one need only look at the Outcome, the, the fruit of the behavior.
- 31:40Speaker 2: We have so many examples now to show that that there is no good fruit being born from these ideologies.
- 31:49Speaker 2: And you know, the pope ends this audience talking about the fruitfulness from the spirit when he says that Cottonings for the kingdom has been chosen, that there's many ways that that bears fruit for all the followers and all the generations, and so we need to keep that uppermost in mind too.
- 32:08Speaker 2: You know, is this bearing any good fruit?
- 32:11Speaker 2: And when you see clearly, clearly, that it's not you, you have a duty, I think, to say this is the wrong path, this is not the truth, and open, as you just so wonderfully described.
- 32:25Speaker 2: Open up that path to the true, the good and the beautiful.
- 32:30Speaker 1: And I think the angle you take with this is always what Christ does.
- 32:33Speaker 1: He never imposes, he's always got to propose, and John Paul, of course, followed in his footsteps.
- 32:40Speaker 1: You know the difference when you look at these ideologies and you know somebody standing praying for the life of an unborn child at an abortion clinic or standing up for the stolen innocence of young people.
- 32:51Speaker 1: The difference is that you're in prayer and you're offering the gospel, never imposing, for proposing what's true, good and beautiful.
- 32:59Speaker 1: You'll see the opposite of that.
- 33:02Speaker 1: That reflection is very violent.
- 33:04Speaker 1: You know they want to arrest you even now.
- 33:07Speaker 1: You know the government wants to arrest you.
- 33:08Speaker 1: The protesters are going to be violent, you know you think?
- 33:11Speaker 1: about Antifa and Black Lives Matter and burning down cities and blah, blah, blah blah.
- 33:16Speaker 1: You know you don't find this in the Eucharistic procession through a city right With a priest in the monstrance carrying the Eucharist through the city with people praying behind them.
- 33:26Speaker 1: You don't see any violence.
- 33:27Speaker 1: You don't see any of this right.
- 33:28Speaker 1: It's only an invitation to love, and this is the big dividing line, isn't it?
- 33:34Speaker 1: You know, when you become a person of love, you know there's a certain way you act, and but because of that we get back to what you were saying.
- 33:42Speaker 1: You have to act.
- 33:44Speaker 1: Christ asks us to act and go out and spread the gospel.
- 33:47Speaker 1: In other words, for me to keep that in right you know I'm not really doing my duty.
- 33:54Speaker 1: I can't let young people suffer without at least hearing that and having a choice.
- 33:58Speaker 1: But they're still free, even if they've been coerced by other people and they don't understand it and they're living in darkness.
- 34:05Speaker 1: I can only proclaim it to them.
- 34:07Speaker 1: I can't force them to do this, especially if they're not my child and they're of age.
- 34:12Speaker 1: You know.
- 34:12Speaker 1: I mean there's nothing to do but proclaim the gospel, but you'll see that people do not want you to do that right, just stolen innocence we do tonight, you'll see, we're just standing up for the voice of young children, and these are, you know, third, fourth and fifth and sixth graders.
- 34:30Speaker 1: I mean, nobody has a right to bring evil into their lives.
- 34:33Speaker 1: They should be out skipping rope and playing basketball, and they do.
- 34:37Speaker 1: And if you stand up to just stand up to protect childhood innocence, it's amazing how violent they become.
- 34:44Speaker 2: Yeah, well, as we know, it's a spiritual battle that we're following, that we're involved in, and this is how it has taken on flesh, so to speak, that we see this happening more and more, that the powers and principalities that we're fighting are just, they're desperate, I think.
- 35:04Speaker 2: And when you see that those who are trying to proclaim the truth of the gospel are being attacked in every way, and yet we do have to keep doing it, you know, I thought too that if you, as you're working with the young people and proposing the ideas, it goes even deeper than trying to help them see the difficulties, the issues with the whole transgender ideologies and all these other ideologies, and has to go even deeper to the truth of our sexuality and who we are, and that's precisely what the allergy of the body does do.
- 35:41Speaker 2: So, anyway, that we can dig, even, you know, kind of dig through these ideologies, if you will, and get down to the root of it.
- 35:51Speaker 2: That's what we're trying to do and we must do, and that bears the good fruit, I think.
- 35:57Speaker 1: Yes, well, that's a good way to end it.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Thank you very much, linda.
- 36:01Speaker 1: So we'll end today's session like that Go to prayer, receive the sacrament, share the gospel with one another.
- 36:07Speaker 1: We live in some very precarious times.
- 36:10Speaker 1: Now I think you're going to see even a further darkness, a further push, and that should really not be a pessimistic way to look at it.
- 36:18Speaker 1: Good and evil has been a battle going on for a long time, and men have rejected men and women have rejected God.
- 36:25Speaker 1: So we have not.
- 36:27Speaker 1: And so, at the end of the day, tick, tock, tick, tock, linda, it's just aim, aim, aim at God, aim at Christ on the cross, be filled with the Holy Spirit and then go out and live this, because you'll have the courage and the fortitude and we're going to need that and also you'll have the message to help those around you.
- 36:45Speaker 1: So, as Bishop Sheen would say, we live in a good time, he said, because we're challenged, and this gives us the opportunity to rise up to the challenge.
- 36:54Speaker 1: And, john Paul, be not afraid, be not afraid, right, you would hear him saying over and over again.
- 37:00Speaker 1: So hey, god bless you, linda.
- 37:02Speaker 1: Thank you so much for being here, we're approaching Christmas, huh, maybe we get one more of these in before Christmas and we'll take a little break, so I'm glad to have everybody joining us today.
- 37:11Speaker 1: Bye-bye, everyone.
- 37:12Speaker 2: Sounds good.
