- 0:51Speaker 2: Ellis Auto Glass down in Florence. And they are mobile
- 0:55Speaker 2: and everywhere. Just had Ellis Auto Glass put a new
- 0:57Speaker 2: windshield in the old Jeep this week, last week. And
- 1:00Speaker 2: they did a great job with that.
- 1:03Speaker 3: 601-278-0942.
- 1:04Speaker 2: That's 601-278-0942. You can also go to EllisAutoGlass.com where they are,

- 1:23Speaker 2: is 601-278-0924. We'll have Raphael Esparza coming up in 30 minutes.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Brett Beard, join us in our number one. Be what
- 1:31Speaker 2: we got over there on the Cowboy Maloney's text line.
- 1:33Speaker 4: All right, let's see. We got a couple here from Mr.
- 1:35Speaker 3: DX.
- 1:36Speaker 4: First, he said, welcome back, Beaver. And then he said,
- 1:41Speaker 4: do you have an excuse for your absence, Mr.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Jake?
- 1:46Speaker 2: Well, I can blame it on the corporate structure of
- 1:49Speaker 2: our company. That is absolutely true. And then we had
- 1:54Speaker 2: a hiatus on Wednesday. Let's just say that.
- 1:58Speaker 4: Humphreys County dog. He said, Beav, please refer to my
- 2:04Speaker 4: text from 48 hours ago. So we journey back to
- 2:08Speaker 4: 48 hours ago, and he sent two texts. That was Tuesday,
- 2:13Speaker 4: exactly 3 o'clock. He texted, any idea what we're going
- 2:18Speaker 4: to talk about today, Jake? And then at 3.01, he texted,
- 2:22Speaker 4: never mind. We took the day off.
- 2:26Speaker 2: He actually tagged me on a post on X and
- 2:28Speaker 2: put a bolo out on me yesterday.
- 2:30Speaker 3: What? Yeah.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Yeah, he did. I'm glad he's thinking about.
- 2:34Speaker 3: It, though. Yeah.
- 2:36Speaker 4: Miko says, I just want to say it's no fun
- 2:39Speaker 4: when I can't text the show during Pearl Brandon rivalry
- 2:43Speaker 4: week and be nervous about the outcome 26.47 hours before kickoff.
- 2:50Speaker 2: So is he saying he doesn't want to text or
- 2:52Speaker 2: he's scared to text?
- 2:54Speaker 4: I think he's saying I took that to mean he
- 2:57Speaker 4: knows exactly what's going to happen because he said it's
- 2:59Speaker 4: no fun that he can't text nervous about it. Meaning
- 3:05Speaker 4: he's not nervous at all because he knows that Pearl
- 3:08Speaker 4: is likely going to be destroyed.
- 3:11Speaker 2: I got you. I got you. And, you know, it's
- 3:16Speaker 2: been 2,182 days and counting since Pearl won that game last.
- 3:20Speaker 2: And you know what's interesting about that game Friday? The
- 3:22Speaker 2: guy dialing up the plays for the Brandon offense, Justin Hunter,
- 3:26Speaker 2: the Brandon offensive coordinator and co-head coach, is the guy
- 3:30Speaker 2: who last beat Brandon.
- 3:31Speaker 1: 2,000.
- 3:33Speaker 2: 182 days ago. Isn't that pretty crazy?
- 3:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:38Speaker 4: So if this were the NFL, if we were one
- 3:41Speaker 4: of these NFL announcers, we would drop the always hear this.
- 3:45Speaker 4: This would be the Justin Hunter revenge game.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Maybe we ought to start saying that today, tomorrow. Yeah,
- 3:53Speaker 2: that's what it would be.
- 3:55Speaker 4: Bill says, let's see, this was from when I, oh,
- 3:59Speaker 4: your swan comment. He said, good interruption, Beaver. I caught
- 4:03Speaker 4: that Swan comment as well. I hope that's the case.
- 4:07Speaker 4: I'd like to see that kid get a chance.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Look, he's got SEC experience. Now, he's a journeyman. Played
- 4:14Speaker 2: a couple years at Vanderbilt. Year at Appalachian State. Sat
- 4:18Speaker 2: a year at LSU. But he gives you at least
- 4:23Speaker 2: SEC experience. And this isn't a shot at Billy Puckett
- 4:25Speaker 2: by any stretch. I mean, Billy Puckett just needs reps.
- 4:28Speaker 2: But I talked to somebody in Starkville. today about this,
- 4:32Speaker 2: and they said, you've got to think about what Jeff
- 4:35Speaker 2: Libby's going through. You know, before the Kamario Taylor surgery, which,
- 4:40Speaker 2: if you missed it, that was clear, good. They said
- 4:43Speaker 2: he'll make a full recovery. He'll be back next year.
- 4:46Speaker 2: They had to find a way to piece it together
- 4:48Speaker 2: before he can get back. Now you've got to look
- 4:49Speaker 2: at a situation where you've got to find somebody who's
- 4:51Speaker 2: the guy for five more weeks. And is it A.J. Swan?
- 4:56Speaker 2: Is it Billy Puckett? Both will likely play on Saturday.
- 4:59Speaker 2: But it very well could be Swan just because he's
- 5:01Speaker 2: got the SEC experience.
- 5:04Speaker 4: Adams G. also enjoyed the Swan comment. He says, gold, baby.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Hey, Swan, don't dive in there.
- 5:11Speaker 4: And then he said, Swan gonna Swan.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, look, would that do it for Arch
- 5:17Speaker 2: Manning in Texas if State goes in there with A.J.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Swan and a little bit of Billy Puckett and they
- 5:22Speaker 2: beat Texas on Saturday night?
- 5:24Speaker 4: Yeah, because you always go back to that whole thing where, oh,
- 5:29Speaker 4: Who am I going back to? Shula got croomed.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:35Speaker 4: So you got swanned.
- 5:37Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 5:38Speaker 4: You lost your job. You lost your starting job because
- 5:40Speaker 4: of swan.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Yeah, Sarkeesian loses his job. Arch has to hit the
- 5:44Speaker 2: transfer portal because they got swanned.
- 5:48Speaker 4: CWR, he's talking about Lincoln Riley. He said, Riley said,
- 5:52Speaker 4: everything but I'll leave in a pine box. They may
- 5:55Speaker 4: put him in one.
- 5:57Speaker 2: He did.
- 5:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:58Speaker 2: He said he did. He did the whole, you know,
- 6:01Speaker 2: coaching charade, you know, standing this and saying this and that. And,
- 6:07Speaker 2: you know, the the I guess you could call it
- 6:10Speaker 2: the podium moment. He did everything but the pine box moment.
- 6:14Speaker 4: Now we've reached a new. We've never seen this before.
- 6:20Speaker 6: Oh, no.
- 6:21Speaker 4: All right. So the the making fun of the time
- 6:24Speaker 4: missed has become the standard. On the text line. But now,
- 6:29Speaker 4: Monkeys Riding Dogs were speculating where you were during this
- 6:35Speaker 4: missed time. And Monkeys Riding Dogs says, Jake probably made
- 6:39Speaker 4: a trip to the Dominican Republic to negotiate with Kevin
- 6:42Speaker 4: Todd and Randy. Man, those are two voices I absolutely
- 6:48Speaker 4: have not missed this year. I hadn't even thought about
- 6:50Speaker 4: those sucksters.
- 6:53Speaker 2: I figured if anybody missed those guys, it was you.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Shh.
- 6:57Speaker 4: Couple of shade trees. Well, Randy, Randy was just a
- 7:01Speaker 4: bull crap radio out artist. And he, so I don't
- 7:05Speaker 4: know that he was a shady man. He was just
- 7:08Speaker 4: doing his lame stuff to get paid. But Kevin Todd,
- 7:11Speaker 4: KT one, he was, he was shady.
- 7:15Speaker 2: And we don't even know if Randy's real name is Randy,
- 7:17Speaker 2: by the way.
- 7:18Speaker 4: Yeah, I did. Actually, he's been around. He's been on
- 7:21Speaker 4: so much other stuff throughout his career, but that, That's
- 7:26Speaker 4: one project he probably shouldn't have gone into.
- 7:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree with that.
- 7:30Speaker 4: All right, RezDog. Jake, you've missed nine days this month.
- 7:34Speaker 4: You've no-showed more than Jeff Lebby. Your new name is
- 7:37Speaker 4: now Jake Lebby.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Oh, no.
- 7:40Speaker 2: That means I need to put my jacket on and
- 7:44Speaker 2: miss a button? Did you see that going around?
- 7:47Speaker 3: No.
- 7:48Speaker 2: So Todd, who takes our show, you know Todd. Saints Todd.
- 7:51Speaker 2: He texted me the other day after State Laws. And
- 7:54Speaker 2: Todd was having a good old time. And he said, man,
- 7:57Speaker 2: look at this guy. And I said, look, maybe the
- 8:00Speaker 2: jacket was just flipped. It looked like Levy had missed
- 8:03Speaker 2: a button. You know, in the walkthrough, you know, take
- 8:05Speaker 2: pictures of all of them. They're all dressed up. So
- 8:07Speaker 2: maybe the flap was just like tucked under his jacket.
- 8:10Speaker 2: He zooms in and says, no, Wimberly, look, it's a
- 8:13Speaker 2: missed button. Like, that's what we're at now with Jeff
- 8:15Speaker 2: Levy is we're critiquing his attire.
- 8:18Speaker 4: I think it was RezDog the other day who someone
- 8:21Speaker 4: texted in. I'm pretty sure it was RezDog talking about
- 8:25Speaker 4: how he couldn't even button his jacket right. But I
- 8:28Speaker 4: never saw it, so I didn't know what he was
- 8:30Speaker 4: talking about.
- 8:31Speaker 2: I'll send you the picture. I got it. Let's see.
- 8:34Speaker 4: Rebel One said he's talking about Arch if he lost
- 8:40Speaker 4: to Swan. That would be his Swan song.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Ooh, I like that. We'd have to get A out
- 8:47Speaker 2: of Chris. Arch Manning Swan song. Referencing Swan.
- 8:51Speaker 4: And Mr. DX is going to need real-time updates because
- 8:56Speaker 4: he said, Jake, let me know what time you will
- 8:59Speaker 4: miss the show so I can make further adjustments.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Who said that?
- 9:03Speaker 3: Mr. DX.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Fair enough. Fair enough. Next time it happens, probably sometime
- 9:08Speaker 2: in 2027, I'll let you know. Sometime in 27.
- 9:10Speaker 4: Sometime in the next 27 hours. And that'll catch us up.

- 10:21Speaker 1: To Jake Wiberly with the Afternoon Drive, on ESPN 105.9

- 11:10Speaker 2: Cowboy Maloney's text line. We're also brought to you by
- 11:12Speaker 2: Ellis Auto Glass and Solutions. Go to ellisautoglass.com. All right,
- 11:17Speaker 2: how about Maryland? It's not a job that It's going
- 11:20Speaker 2: to hit the national radar. I mean, it's a Big
- 11:22Speaker 2: Ten job. Who are the candidates to replace Mike Loxley,
- 11:27Speaker 2: courtesy of On3. com? And let's see here. Candidates, it looks
- 11:34Speaker 2: like realistic Maryland candidates. It says one name that continues
- 11:41Speaker 2: to be mentioned heavily by sources a week into the
- 11:44Speaker 2: search is Wake Forest Jake Dickert. and less than two
- 11:47Speaker 2: full seasons with the Demon Deacons. The former Washington State
- 11:49Speaker 2: head coach is 15-5 and 6-1 this season, ranked in
- 11:53Speaker 2: the top 15. He's proven he can win anywhere and
- 11:56Speaker 2: be a top name for multiple jobs. Also, Jason Eck
- 12:00Speaker 2: is another coach that's getting a lot of run, New
- 12:02Speaker 2: Mexico and what they're doing out there. They're doing some
- 12:05Speaker 2: pretty darn interesting, innovative stuff in the run game. And, man,
- 12:12Speaker 2: they look really good.
- 12:13Speaker 3: He was 9-4.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Last year with a win over UCLA. He's off to
- 12:16Speaker 2: a 6-1 start this year. And Jason Eck's name, he's
- 12:21Speaker 2: a name to watch. Dan Mullen's name is on this list.
- 12:25Speaker 2: But I'm not so sure Jimmy Sexton isn't pushing his
- 12:27Speaker 2: name out there for that. I mean, does Dan Mullen
- 12:30Speaker 2: really want to go to Maryland?
- 12:32Speaker 3: Maybe.
- 12:32Speaker 2: I guess you could see him out there. Brian Kelly
- 12:35Speaker 2: is a name expected to be under consideration for Maryland
- 12:38Speaker 2: where he has ties to Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank
- 12:42Speaker 2: and their relationship work. Together is Notre Dame's apparel partner. Kelly,
- 12:46Speaker 2: of course, is not working. He's out of work. He's
- 12:48Speaker 2: working on CBS Sports right now, College Sports Radio and SiriusXM.
- 12:52Speaker 2: So he is another name for that Maryland job. Memphis'
- 12:56Speaker 2: Charles Huff, Western Michigan's Lance Taylor. And you've got a
- 13:01Speaker 2: couple coordinators in here like Arthur Smith at Ohio State.
- 13:04Speaker 2: He is a guy that is going to continue to
- 13:06Speaker 2: draw interest as these jobs come open in college football.
- 13:11Speaker 2: So I don't pretend to tell you who's going to
- 13:12Speaker 2: take the Maryland job, but that's just some names that
- 13:14Speaker 2: are out there. And I think you'll see, you know,
- 13:16Speaker 2: Charles Hupp is going to continue to get consideration for
- 13:19Speaker 2: what he has done, what he did at Marshall, what
- 13:21Speaker 2: he did at Southern Miss, and what he's doing at Memphis.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Lance Taylor has done a really good job at Western
- 13:25Speaker 2: Michigan in the MAAC. And then when you look at
- 13:29Speaker 2: Jason Eck out at New Mexico, he, again, New Mexico
- 13:33Speaker 2: football has been nonexistent forever. And he has them at
- 13:38Speaker 2: least talking about New Mexico football. And, you know, Jake Dickard,
- 13:41Speaker 2: who probably makes a pretty good penny out of Wake Forest,
- 13:43Speaker 2: I don't know that they're pulling him out of there.
- 13:47Speaker 2: All right, we were also talking about the Lincoln Riley situation.
- 13:50Speaker 2: If Lincoln Riley gets dust rolled this weekend against Ohio State,
- 13:55Speaker 2: that's going to be bad for him. Also, Deion Sanders
- 14:01Speaker 2: on this list of coaches to watch. As they put it,
- 14:04Speaker 2: the walls are closing in on Colorado and Deion Sanders.
- 14:06Speaker 2: The Buffs have lost five in a row. They're 5-14
- 14:10Speaker 2: since Travis Hunter and Shador Sanders left that program. And
- 14:13Speaker 2: Sanders spent part of his pre-Kansas State press conference this
- 14:16Speaker 2: week explaining away a joke from confidant Christopher Neely, better
- 14:22Speaker 2: known as Uncle Neely, that imagined Sanders paying critics to
- 14:26Speaker 2: stop criticizing him. So, yeah, a lot of chatter at
- 14:31Speaker 2: his press conferences, going after some reporters. He's got to
- 14:35Speaker 2: win games. And if he doesn't, then... He likely could
- 14:38Speaker 2: be out of there. Will the SEC stay quiet this
- 14:42Speaker 2: year in the coaching circle? Pete Nacos of On3 wondered
- 14:45Speaker 2: if the coaching carousel could hit the SEC. A few
- 14:50Speaker 2: weeks ago, it looked like it. South Carolina's Shane Beamer,
- 14:53Speaker 2: but he has won a couple ballgames. He seemed to
- 14:56Speaker 2: be in grave danger after losing his first three conference games.
- 14:59Speaker 2: He beat Florida, beat Tennessee, and now he feels much safer.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Oklahoma's Brent Venables. despite an ill-advised contract extension this offseason. Remember,
- 15:08Speaker 2: we talked about that over the summer. It was very
- 15:11Speaker 2: odd that Kalen DeBoer at Alabama and Brent Venables got
- 15:14Speaker 2: contract extensions, considering if things went south for either coach,
- 15:19Speaker 2: it could be it for them. Also, you know, when
- 15:24Speaker 2: you look at Shane Beamer, I mean, he's still got
- 15:27Speaker 2: some games out there, but it looks like he may
- 15:29Speaker 2: be safe for another year. And they like Shane Beamer
- 15:31Speaker 2: up there. For whatever it's worth, they like Shane Beamer.
- 15:35Speaker 2: And Beamer and Venables face each other this weekend. Each
- 15:40Speaker 2: has blown out the other one in the past two seasons.
- 15:43Speaker 2: One of them is going to lose Saturday. Venables has
- 15:45Speaker 2: more protection from a $ 51 million buyout at Oklahoma. But
- 15:50Speaker 2: in the world where Jimbo Fisher got paid $ 77 million
- 15:52Speaker 2: in 2023 to not work at Texas A & M
- 15:57Speaker 2: and Penn State, LSU, and Kentucky all bid down on
- 16:00Speaker 2: buyouts greater than 36 last season. Penn State ultimately paid
- 16:05Speaker 2: James Franklin about $ 9 million lump sum instead of $ 49
- 16:08Speaker 2: million buyout in installments through 2031. Franklin had all set
- 16:13Speaker 2: language in his Penn State contract. So any money that
- 16:17Speaker 2: he made from Virginia Tech would have been subtracted from
- 16:20Speaker 2: the amount Penn State had to pay. There's five Saturdays
- 16:23Speaker 2: left in the regular season. Can you believe that? Only five.
- 16:27Speaker 2: Emotions will run high, especially in places where losses pile up.
- 16:30Speaker 2: The seal on the coaching carousel has been broken, so
- 16:34Speaker 2: It is spinning mightily. And, you know, we talked about
- 16:37Speaker 2: the Baylor head coaching job that's open. And some of
- 16:41Speaker 2: those candidates that are out there, Jeff Traylor tops that list, UTSA.
- 16:47Speaker 2: And he has done a really good job out of UTSA.
- 16:50Speaker 2: And that's the thing is when you look at programs
- 16:52Speaker 2: like UTSA in New Mexico, Jeff Traylor has stability at UTSA.
- 16:58Speaker 2: They have dropped a little bit, but I think a
- 17:00Speaker 2: lot of that's NIL and the transfer portal. And you
- 17:03Speaker 2: look at Jason Eck out in New Mexico. These are
- 17:07Speaker 2: two teams we never talk about, and they're being talked about. G.J.
- 17:11Speaker 2: Kinney at Texas State, another young one. Now, again, Lincoln
- 17:14Speaker 2: Riley's name has come up. And you wonder for Lincoln Riley,
- 17:18Speaker 2: I mean, you think about USC to Baylor. Why would
- 17:22Speaker 2: his name come up? That feels like an agent floating
- 17:24Speaker 2: that out there. Maybe for two things. One, maybe a
- 17:29Speaker 2: pay bump, even though he doesn't need it. to try
- 17:31Speaker 2: to keep him if USC desperately feels like they have
- 17:34Speaker 2: to have him. And then two, maybe his agent putting
- 17:36Speaker 2: it out there to see if there's interest. Charlie Weiss Jr.,
- 17:40Speaker 2: LSU offensive coordinator, also in line for that. At least
- 17:42Speaker 2: his name is out there for that Baylor job. And
- 17:46Speaker 2: Weiss Jr. will ultimately, I think, be a head coach.
- 17:48Speaker 2: The work he did at Ole Miss under Kiffin and
- 17:50Speaker 2: now what he's doing down at LSU. His name, again,
- 17:53Speaker 2: Jason Eck on this list. Zach Kittley at FAU. Shannon Dawson,
- 17:59Speaker 2: Miami offensive coordinator. And, you know, when you start talking
- 18:02Speaker 2: about coordinators, Shannon Dawson's name is going to get thrown
- 18:07Speaker 2: around a lot at Miami, and then the Ohio State
- 18:11Speaker 2: offensive and defensive coordinator. Bo Linguist is on this list
- 18:14Speaker 2: as well, Alabama defensive backs coach. He was a former
- 18:17Speaker 2: Buffalo head coach, the Bulls, not the Bills. And he's
- 18:22Speaker 2: been co-defensive coordinator since 2024 when Kalen DeBoer got to Alabama.
- 18:27Speaker 2: 601-885-3776 if you want to text us. We will have
- 18:30Speaker 2: Rafael Esparza coming up in about nine minutes. Let me
- 18:33Speaker 2: get some more notes in here real quick. But that's
- 18:35Speaker 2: a little catch-up on the coaching carousel that's out there. Again,
- 18:39Speaker 2: June Jones passes away. He was 73 years old. Rest
- 18:43Speaker 2: in peace to June Jones. Really, really, really good football
- 18:46Speaker 2: coach and did a great job with Hawaii. Also, let's see.
- 18:54Speaker 2: What am I looking at here? Missouri star running back
- 18:58Speaker 2: Ahmad Hardy will make his season debut this weekend at Arkansas.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Of course, Hardy suffered the gunshot wound in the offseason,
- 19:05Speaker 2: so he is finally back. And I know Missouri is
- 19:07Speaker 2: glad to have him back. Now, what does that mean
- 19:09Speaker 2: for Missouri? You know, it's going to take him a
- 19:11Speaker 2: game or two to get probably back up to game speed.
- 19:14Speaker 2: But Missouri, a team that, you know, they're sitting right
- 19:17Speaker 2: here at this 5-2 mark. They get a win against Arkansas.
- 19:22Speaker 2: That's 6-2. They head into November 6th. Missouri's got a
- 19:27Speaker 2: rough November they host Texas on the 7th of uh
- 19:32Speaker 2: November then they go to Georgia they host Kentucky and
- 19:36Speaker 2: they host Oklahoma so three of the four games they
- 19:38Speaker 2: host but they're hosting you know two ranked teams and
- 19:43Speaker 2: then Oklahoma team that could could give them all they
- 19:45Speaker 2: want so I still think it's too tall of a
- 19:47Speaker 2: task for Missouri to run out and get to 10-2
- 19:51Speaker 2: or even make it 9-3 and possibly get a college
- 19:54Speaker 2: football playoff berth. They did get a win over Florida,
- 19:58Speaker 2: mightily 17th ranked team in the country, but then got
- 20:02Speaker 2: almost shut out against Ole Miss a couple weeks ago, 31-3.
- 20:04Speaker 2: So Ahmad Hardy will play coming up this weekend. And
- 20:13Speaker 2: we'll get into numbers here later on if we get time.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Brendan Chapman, since the SEC's new TV deal began in 2024,
- 20:18Speaker 2: LSU has played 16 of its 19 home games at night.
- 20:22Speaker 2: That's 84%. Georgia and Mississippi State, just four of 18, 22%.
- 20:29Speaker 2: And it gets even worse when you look strictly at
- 20:32Speaker 2: SEC conference games. LSU had hosted eight at night, more
- 20:36Speaker 2: than Ole Miss and Georgia combined. Mississippi State has hosted one.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Night games matter for recruiting atmosphere and attendance and home
- 20:43Speaker 2: field advantage. How does the SEC justify this kind of disparity?
- 20:47Speaker 2: And how is it fair to the fans spending thousands
- 20:49Speaker 2: on tickets? So Brendan Chapman put this out, and he
- 20:55Speaker 2: is an eight-year SEC football staff writer, also works with
- 21:00Speaker 2: the Athletic as a liaison. I do want to get
- 21:03Speaker 2: into this because Lane Kiffin's out here pandering because LSU
- 21:07Speaker 2: doesn't have a night game against Alabama. That's a 2-30 kick.

- 23:01Speaker 2: As far as we're glad to have you back, brother,
- 23:03Speaker 2: how are you?
- 23:05Speaker 3: I'm doing well. How about yourself?
- 23:06Speaker 2: Well, it's Thursday. So, I mean, you know, we're eyeing
- 23:09Speaker 2: in on another weekend of college in the NFL. And
- 23:12Speaker 2: got a World Series champ. And we just keep moving
- 23:15Speaker 2: down the road here. Speaking of moving down the road,
- 23:17Speaker 2: we got Carolina and Green Bay tonight. Packers are a
- 23:21Speaker 2: three-and-a-half point favorite. That totals at 47. Who do you
- 23:25Speaker 2: like on this Thursday night ballgame?
- 23:27Speaker 3: I kind of like Carolina. I'm hoping it goes to four.
- 23:31Speaker 3: I missed. There was a couple fours this morning that
- 23:33Speaker 3: I missed. Hoping it goes back. I mean, Bryce Young,
- 23:37Speaker 3: 12-0 against the spread, coming off a loss. And in
- 23:40Speaker 3: those 12 games, he is 10-2. In seven of those
- 23:44Speaker 3: 12 games, the Panthers scored 30 points or more. I'm
- 23:48Speaker 3: leaning towards Carolina in that one.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Let me ask you this before we move some college.
- 23:52Speaker 2: Jeffrey Simmons headed over to the Chicago Bears. How big
- 23:56Speaker 2: a bump? It looked like it was considerable. I could
- 23:58Speaker 2: be wrong. They're now 11-1 on what I'm looking at
- 24:00Speaker 2: for Super Bowl odds. A player of that stature. on
- 24:03Speaker 2: the defensive side moves, how much does that move a
- 24:06Speaker 2: potential line?
- 24:08Speaker 3: It does, but it's going to be very interesting. Yes,
- 24:12Speaker 3: it's a good move. He's probably not going to play
- 24:14Speaker 3: much or maybe at all this week. Now, if they
- 24:18Speaker 3: lose to Seattle, then that's a third loss. That means,
- 24:22Speaker 3: let's say, if the Vikings win or Lions win, everyone's
- 24:25Speaker 3: moving up in the division. So I wish this trade
- 24:28Speaker 3: would have happened maybe like on a Tuesday, so maybe
- 24:30Speaker 3: he gets some practices in and he plays a little
- 24:32Speaker 3: bit more. But let's face it, this is a huge
- 24:34Speaker 3: game against Seattle for playoff implications, and I can't believe
- 24:38Speaker 3: we're talking about playoff implications. It's only week eight.
- 24:42Speaker 2: Rafael Esparza, mybookie.ag. Use the promo code JakeWim if you
- 24:45Speaker 2: haven't played. Get a sign-up bonus today. All right, NCAA football,
- 24:50Speaker 2: several big games. One thing that stuck out to me
- 24:52Speaker 2: is that Florida Atlantic-North Texas game tonight, that total is
- 24:55Speaker 2: around 78. That seems like one of the higher ones
- 24:58Speaker 2: we've seen in a long time.
- 25:01Speaker 3: Oh, just look at North Texas. I mean, they score
- 25:04Speaker 3: a lot of points. They give up a lot of points.
- 25:07Speaker 3: FAU can score. They put up 51 last week against Rice,
- 25:12Speaker 3: but they also gave up 56 to Army a couple
- 25:18Speaker 3: weeks ago. So, yeah, this is going to be very
- 25:20Speaker 3: interesting because, like I said, North Texas can score. They
- 25:23Speaker 3: put up 44 points against UNLV in the beginning of
- 25:26Speaker 3: the season. I like FAU's team total. I think it's
- 25:28Speaker 3: 30 and a half. it would not shock me if
- 25:32Speaker 3: both teams go over the 30 mark.
- 25:35Speaker 2: Auburn travels to Ole Miss. Both teams coming off losses.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Auburn got thumped by LSU. Ole Miss loses a heartbreaker.
- 25:41Speaker 2: They tried to make the comeback at Texas. They couldn't
- 25:43Speaker 2: make it happen. Now Ole Miss really needs to put
- 25:45Speaker 2: some wins together to be in line for a potential
- 25:48Speaker 2: college football playoff berth. Rebs are a 12.5 point favorite
- 25:52Speaker 2: at home. 11.45 kick. Total is at 57.5. Does Ole
- 25:55Speaker 2: Miss get it done, or can Auburn pull it back
- 25:57Speaker 2: together like they did against Georgia a couple weeks ago?
- 26:00Speaker 3: I don't. I still remember how, granted, they only lost
- 26:04Speaker 3: by 10 against Tennessee, but they were really in that
- 26:06Speaker 3: game at all. In the second half, I think Ole
- 26:09Speaker 3: Miss at home, it bounces back. I like Ole Miss
- 26:13Speaker 3: to cover this one.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Cocktail party not in Jacksonville this year. Florida, 17th-ranked team
- 26:18Speaker 2: in the country. Georgia, number three. Georgia's a 13-point favorite
- 26:22Speaker 2: in this game, 56-and-a-half. Georgia trying to bounce back after
- 26:26Speaker 2: that loss to Auburn and get back on the right
- 26:28Speaker 2: side of things. Or will Florida... Florida's peaked their head
- 26:30Speaker 2: up and had some big moments this year.
- 26:33Speaker 3: Why is it not in Jacksonville? I was trying to
- 26:36Speaker 3: figure that out. I mean, it's pretty much a home
- 26:38Speaker 3: game for Georgia when you're playing in Atlanta, and Florida
- 26:41Speaker 3: has not only QB issues, but they can't run the
- 26:45Speaker 3: ball all of a sudden. I think Georgia bounces back.
- 26:48Speaker 3: It wouldn't shock me if they went pretty big.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Also, you've got several games out there like UCLA. I
- 26:54Speaker 2: don't think they're in any danger. They're trying to stay unbeaten.
- 26:56Speaker 2: They're a 22.5-point favorite. over Nevada, Indiana, pretty much with
- 27:01Speaker 2: a cakewalk. But South Carolina, Oklahoma, this is a 3-15 game.
- 27:05Speaker 2: South Carolina has had some moments here recently. They are
- 27:08Speaker 2: a 4.5-point dog. They're on the road against the Sooners,
- 27:10Speaker 2: who got a win against Mississippi State last week. Totals
- 27:12Speaker 2: at 44.5. Feels like this may be an under-type game
- 27:16Speaker 2: as well with these two.
- 27:19Speaker 3: It is going to bounce on that Indiana game. Indiana, yes, 7-1,
- 27:22Speaker 3: but they're 1-7 against the spread. In their last three games,
- 27:25Speaker 3: they haven't scored more than 20 points in either one
- 27:28Speaker 3: of those games. I like Minnesota as a live dog
- 27:30Speaker 3: on that one. South Carolina, it's all about their quarterback play.
- 27:34Speaker 3: If Sellers can limit the turnovers and go good with
- 27:39Speaker 3: his arm and legs, then I think South Carolina is
- 27:42Speaker 3: a very, very live dog. They played well last couple
- 27:45Speaker 3: of weeks. If he throws a pick early... It's night-night
- 27:48Speaker 3: South Carolina.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Ohio State's a six-and-a-half point favorite on the road in
- 27:52Speaker 2: the Coliseum against the Trojans, who got thumped by Wisconsin
- 27:55Speaker 2: last week. This total is at 51-and-a-half. Rumblings of Lincoln
- 27:59Speaker 2: Riley's job security are out there. Can USC pull the
- 28:03Speaker 2: upset at home in the Coliseum, or does Ohio State
- 28:05Speaker 2: put him in a little hotter water?
- 28:08Speaker 3: I mean, no quarterback for Ohio State. You really don't
- 28:12Speaker 3: have any tape on him. So I'm leaning towards... usc
- 28:16Speaker 3: but i mean are these usc players playing for their
- 28:20Speaker 3: coach or are they looking at the transfer window already
- 28:23Speaker 3: it all depends on what i like usc just because
- 28:26Speaker 3: i don't have any good knowledge of what this ohio state.
- 28:31Speaker 2: Quarterback is going to do last one we'll get to
- 28:34Speaker 2: the nfl mississippi state 630 kick uh they're 20 and
- 28:37Speaker 2: a half point dog on the road to texas that
- 28:39Speaker 2: totals at 15 and a half camario taylor Out for
- 28:41Speaker 2: the year, he had surgery yesterday. Mississippi State having to
- 28:44Speaker 2: go with a couple backup quarterbacks. Texas may overlook Mississippi State.
- 28:48Speaker 2: I don't know if the State can go out there
- 28:49Speaker 2: and win, but can they cover this 20-and-a-half?
- 28:52Speaker 3: I think they could. I think it's going to be
- 28:54Speaker 3: a defensive battle game, let's face it. Mississippi State scored
- 28:59Speaker 3: 15 points since their quarterback has gone out. And I
- 29:03Speaker 3: like Texas' defense. I like the way they played. and
- 29:07Speaker 3: the second half against Ole Miss and their defense. Don't
- 29:09Speaker 3: forget they only hold Tennessee to 17 points this season.
- 29:13Speaker 3: I think defense is going to be the reason why
- 29:15Speaker 3: Texas wins, and I think defense is going to be
- 29:17Speaker 3: the reason why maybe Mississippi State covers.
- 29:21Speaker 2: NFL on Sunday, Buffalo was a three-point favorite against the Ravens.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Lamar Jackson back practicing. Don't know if he's going to
- 29:26Speaker 2: play this week. That totals at 54-and-a-half. You like Buffalo
- 29:30Speaker 2: at home this week?
- 29:32Speaker 3: I do, even though I hate that evil half a point.
- 29:35Speaker 3: I know Jackson's probably going to play, but what's Henry doing?
- 29:39Speaker 3: Henry hasn't done nothing in back-to-back weeks. It doesn't matter
- 29:42Speaker 3: if Jackson plays. If they can't run the ball, then
- 29:44Speaker 3: I think Buffalo easily wins.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Old-fashioned grudge match. Browns-Steelers, 12 o'clock. Steelers are a 3.5-point favorite.
- 29:53Speaker 2: That totals at 39.5. Cleveland, one of the surprise teams
- 29:56Speaker 2: of the NFL this year.
- 29:59Speaker 3: I want to say take Pittsburgh, but teams coming back
- 30:01Speaker 3: from overseas do not go well on their next game
- 30:05Speaker 3: if they're not on a bye week. I like Pittsburgh.
- 30:07Speaker 3: I like Pittsburgh first quarter and first half because Cleveland
- 30:11Speaker 3: is horrendous in first quarter play. They haven't had a
- 30:14Speaker 3: lead in the first quarter all season long. So I'll
- 30:17Speaker 3: look at those two plays and maybe Cleveland, the backdoor cover.
- 30:21Speaker 2: And the Vikings on the road at the Lions. Again,
- 30:23Speaker 2: another noonday kick, three and a half in favor of
- 30:25Speaker 2: the Lions. That totals at 45 and a half. Big
- 30:27Speaker 2: one in that division.
- 30:30Speaker 3: Even though I have the Vikings at plus 450 to
- 30:32Speaker 3: the win at the division, I think this is when
- 30:34Speaker 3: they get their loss. I like the Lions on this one.
- 30:37Speaker 3: Even though they have some offensive stars who have not
- 30:39Speaker 3: practiced yet this week, I do believe they'll play. But
- 30:42Speaker 3: I like the way their defense played last week. I
- 30:44Speaker 3: can't believe I said Lions and defense in the same sentence.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Chiefs on the road, 325 kick at the Broncos. Chiefs
- 30:51Speaker 2: a one-and-a-half, a point and a hook. Favorite on the road,
- 30:54Speaker 2: totals at 40-and-a-half. Can Mile High get the best of
- 30:58Speaker 2: KC this weekend?
- 31:00Speaker 3: I think Seattle exposed Casey. Casey's offense is horrendous. Their
- 31:03Speaker 3: wide receivers are nowhere to be found. All you have
- 31:06Speaker 3: to do is maintain Walker. Not just stop, but maintain him.
- 31:11Speaker 3: Then I think you can beat Kansas City because their
- 31:13Speaker 3: wide receivers get pushed around from the line of scrimmage
- 31:15Speaker 3: right away, and they go MIA. I like Denver plus
- 31:19Speaker 3: the one and a half. Take Denver money line.
- 31:21Speaker 2: And let's grab one more. Monday night, Chicago Bears, Seattle
- 31:24Speaker 2: Seahawks Bears, now with Jeffrey Simmons are on the road.
- 31:26Speaker 2: Taking on the Seattle Seahawks, and, of course, when you've
- 31:29Speaker 2: got a defensive lineman, you can plug and play a
- 31:30Speaker 2: lot of times like that. Bears a three-point dog on
- 31:34Speaker 2: the road, total 46.5.
- 31:34Speaker 3: If the 12th man plays like they did against Kansas
- 31:39Speaker 3: City and pushes around both lines of scrimmage, then I
- 31:42Speaker 3: think Caleb Williams is going to be pressured all day long.
- 31:44Speaker 3: So I lean towards Seattle. I lean towards the under
- 31:47Speaker 3: more than anything. I think the Bears' defense is also
- 31:51Speaker 3: going to play well. I'm waiting for Joe Public to
- 31:55Speaker 3: see what he does on Monday nights, but I would
- 31:57Speaker 3: say under is my first play of the day for
- 32:00Speaker 3: that game.
- 32:01Speaker 2: What else you got going on this weekend?
- 32:03Speaker 3: It's a big, big, big weekend. World Series is finally over,
- 32:07Speaker 3: but we have UFC this weekend. We also have Canelo Alvarez,
- 32:11Speaker 3: who's fighting in Saudi Arabia on Saturday. We have college football, NFL,
- 32:17Speaker 3: Game 7 in WNBA. That's tomorrow as well. So it's
- 32:21Speaker 3: a full, full slate of sports all weekend long.
- 32:25Speaker 2: Get him at my bookie. Use the promo code jquim,
- 32:27Speaker 2: and you can save when you use that promo code. Also,

- 32:34Speaker 2: thank you so much. Have a great weekend, sir. We'll
- 32:36Speaker 2: talk to you next week.
- 32:38Speaker 3: Take it easy. Have a good one.

- 32:58Speaker 2: I can promise you. We've got to take a timeout. Texas, 601-885-3776.
- 33:00Speaker 2: Back in a bit.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Turning to sports. With Jake Wimberly on the afternoon drive.
- 33:06Speaker 1: One of the last pure pleasures I have left in
- 33:08Speaker 1: my life. Yeah, maybe you ought to get a life first, okay?
- 33:11Speaker 1: On ESPN 105.9 The Zone and online at TheZone1059.
- 33:13Speaker 2: Com. Appreciate Rafael Esparza. We're brought to you by A1 Guarantado, 601-939-1060.
- 33:38Speaker 2: Let A1 get your vehicle in class A shape down
- 33:41Speaker 2: on 49 in Florence. We'll be out of here at 5,
- 33:44Speaker 2: but right back at 6. I want to say thanks
- 33:46Speaker 2: to Rafael Esparza and Brett Beard. We're back here at
- 33:48Speaker 2: 6 with a pregame for Hines and Jones. It's a
- 33:52Speaker 2: pinkout night here at the ballpark. And, of course, you
- 33:54Speaker 2: can get out here. Still got time. It'll be a
- 33:56Speaker 2: great night to watch some junior college football. We'll have
- 33:59Speaker 2: it right here for you on 105.9 The Zone. B,
- 34:01Speaker 2: have you got anything we need to get to?
- 34:04Speaker 4: Yeah, we got some texts here. Let's see. Okay, first. First,
- 34:13Speaker 4: unnamed texter. Good lineup in the NFL this week. Give
- 34:17Speaker 4: me some winners.
- 34:19Speaker 2: It is a good lineup in the NFL this week. Babe,
- 34:22Speaker 2: do you have any locks that you like so far?
- 34:27Speaker 4: Well, I don't so much like to use the word locks.
- 34:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 34:30Speaker 4: Because it reminds me of Locktober. which has just been...
- 34:34Speaker 4: I thought we had gotten away from that, but then
- 34:39Speaker 4: you started bringing it back.
- 34:41Speaker 2: Oh, I did it just because I know it's annoying
- 34:43Speaker 2: to a lot of people.
- 34:44Speaker 3: Oh, I know.
- 34:44Speaker 2: It was more of a needle.
- 34:46Speaker 4: I know. Let's see. Usually, I want to stay.
- 34:57Speaker 4: Big lines like this in the NFL, when we reach
- 35:00Speaker 4: a line of eight in the NFL. And especially when
- 35:07Speaker 4: we get into double digits, I'm usually I'm 99.9% of
- 35:10Speaker 4: the time. I'm not going to touch it, but the
- 35:13Speaker 4: Jaguars are favored by 10 over the Colts. The Colts
- 35:16Speaker 4: are obviously in just fire cell mode, get rid of
- 35:21Speaker 4: everyone we have. And who knows if three days from now,
- 35:25Speaker 4: we're going to add Jonathan Taylor to that list. So
- 35:29Speaker 4: I'm very tempted to take the Jaguars to cover 10
- 35:31Speaker 4: over the Colts.
- 35:33Speaker 2: Yeah, you can get an Ameristar right now for a
- 35:35Speaker 2: half a point less. Nine and a half. But you're right,
- 35:37Speaker 2: that thing may hit ten. What about... Well, I'll tell
- 35:43Speaker 2: you what. Looking at some of these matchups, do you
- 35:46Speaker 2: think Denver can handle Kansas City? Because as far as
- 35:49Speaker 2: a right, the KC offense has been exposed.
- 35:53Speaker 4: Their offense has been exposed, but so has Denver's this year.
- 35:58Speaker 4: And multiple chances.
- 36:01Speaker 3: So....
- 36:05Speaker 4: Kansas City already got them. That was a close game
- 36:07Speaker 4: this year. Give me Denver, but one that I do like.
- 36:11Speaker 4: I'll tell you this. The Jets are favored by one
- 36:15Speaker 4: and a half over the Raiders. Give me the Raiders
- 36:19Speaker 4: because that schedule has been terrible for the Raiders. They
- 36:23Speaker 4: started out 3-0, and then things got bad. And now
- 36:30Speaker 4: you have the Jets. And that's their most winnable game
- 36:33Speaker 4: for a while because now when they get rid of
- 36:35Speaker 4: the Jets, oh, well, then you got to go play the,
- 36:39Speaker 4: let's see, who was it? 49ers, Seahawks, and Broncos back-to-back-to-back
- 36:43Speaker 4: for the Raiders. So give me the Raiders to get
- 36:46Speaker 4: it back on track and beat the Jets.
- 36:48Speaker 2: I like it. What else you got over there? All right.
- 36:52Speaker 4: Let's see. Johnny Vegas. Beave, who you got... Don't ask
- 37:01Speaker 4: me questions. Beave, who you got in the bowl? I
- 37:03Speaker 4: assume you mean Super Bowl. Give me the 49ers. They'll
- 37:10Speaker 4: get their receivers back. Debo Samuel and Mike Evans will
- 37:13Speaker 4: eventually be healthy again. Just got DeForest Buckner back. He's
- 37:17Speaker 4: back where he started.
- 37:18Speaker 2: So, got.
- 37:21Speaker 4: You're going to get your offense healthy. You got some
- 37:23Speaker 4: additions on the defense. They're not done on that defense.
- 37:26Speaker 4: They got a lot of cap room to work with
- 37:28Speaker 4: right now if they want to make another trade in
- 37:30Speaker 4: the next week and a half. So give me the
- 37:32Speaker 4: 49ers and the NFC and let's go over to the
- 37:35Speaker 4: AFC and give me the Bengals will be the ones
- 37:40Speaker 4: to go get Jonathan Taylor because Chase Brown just ain't
- 37:43Speaker 4: cutting the Dijon. It's been trash. So they're going to
- 37:46Speaker 4: add a sweet running game. Jonathan Taylor and Joe Burrow together.
- 37:50Speaker 4: Bengals and the AFC.
- 37:52Speaker 2: Come on. I like that.
- 37:53Speaker 4: I don't necessarily believe it, but I'd like to see it.
- 37:58Speaker 2: You've been talking to Andre.
- 38:01Speaker 4: Oh, Andre.
- 38:04Speaker 2: And DX.
- 38:06Speaker 4: DX, don't encourage this. He says, Wim's winners. Give them
- 38:10Speaker 4: to me.
- 38:10Speaker 2: Oh, tomorrow. Absolutely. Drop them on a Friday. You'll have them.
- 38:16Speaker 2: Last week of October.
- 38:18Speaker 4: That is going to catch us up over here.
- 38:20Speaker 2: All right, let's see here real quickly, and we'll touch
- 38:22Speaker 2: on this more tomorrow. This SEC, I thought it was
- 38:25Speaker 2: pretty fascinating from Brendan Chapman on this SEC home night
- 38:29Speaker 2: game since 2024, the TV deal, and Lane Kiffin out
- 38:33Speaker 2: here griping, basically saying his team was blackballed from getting
- 38:36Speaker 2: a night game against Alabama. LSU has had 16 home
- 38:41Speaker 2: night games, 19 total, 84.2% of the share. LSU, that's
- 38:43Speaker 2: a lot. Eight of 10 SEC games. night home games,
- 38:51Speaker 2: and eight of nine non-conference games. Auburn, number two, 52,
- 38:54Speaker 2: and it looks like a drastic drop. LSU by far.
- 38:58Speaker 2: The next two teams, LSU and Texas A & M, 52.6%
- 39:02Speaker 2: of their games have been at night. Kentucky, 50%. Ole Miss, 44%.
- 39:06Speaker 3: Oklahoma, 47%.
- 39:06Speaker 2: I mean, Bama's 42%, which is crazy when you think
- 39:08Speaker 2: about it. Georgia, 22.2% tied with Mississippi State at the
- 39:18Speaker 2: bottom on night SEC games. You never hear Kirby Smart,
- 39:22Speaker 2: at least I haven't. Talk about this. Kirby Smart just
- 39:25Speaker 2: goes out and plays whenever they play it. Vanderbilt. 31.6,
- 39:31Speaker 2: more so than South Carolina, Arkansas, Georgia, and Mississippi State.
- 39:35Speaker 2: I don't ever remember seeing Arkansas on night games either.
- 39:39Speaker 2: That's something we'll get into tomorrow as we move along.
- 39:42Speaker 2: Let's see if there's anything else. I hear the music,
- 39:45Speaker 2: so that's not. I want to say thanks to Brett Beard,
- 39:47Speaker 2: thanks to Rafael Esparza. Remember, ketchup is king, bacon is
- 39:50Speaker 2: a delicacy, aloha means goodbye. We'll take a small break.
- 39:52Speaker 2: When we come back, it'll be 6 o'clock. We'll go
- 39:54Speaker 2: national for an hour, think Feinbaum or something. And then
- 39:58Speaker 2: back with Heinz football. Pre-game, 6, kick 630, Jones, Eagles,
- 40:03Speaker 2: final regular season game for both teams. Eagles will play
- 40:06Speaker 2: next Saturday in the Mississippi State Championship. Remember, ketchup is king,
- 40:11Speaker 2: bacon is a delicacy, aloha means goodbye. Be a man
- 40:13Speaker 2: of increase. We've reached the crescendo. We'll see you at 6.
