Speaker 1: I didn't tell you that this podcast is so blowing up.
0:03
Speaker 1: It's so on fire that they've asked Donald Faison and
0:06
Speaker 1: I to go on the view.
0:07
Speaker 2: I hope I get to talk to Whoopie.
0:09
Speaker 1: Well, you're old friends with Whoopie. She was in Homieespimoni.
0:12
Speaker 2: Yeah, we did a movie together. It was great. I
0:14
Speaker 2: have some apologies to make to her. I have to apologize,
0:18
Speaker 2: like profusely to her.
0:18
Speaker 1: Don't embarrass us in front of Whoopie.
0:20
Speaker 2: Bro I won't embarrass us in front of Whoopee. But
0:22
Speaker 2: I was like a little punk back in the day,
0:24
Speaker 2: like I was scared of I was so scared of
0:27
Speaker 2: celebrities and getting to know actors who I was, you
0:30
Speaker 2: know who I loved, like Whoopy Goldberg is one of
0:35
Speaker 2: my top five, Like she inspired me as a youth
0:39
Speaker 2: and too yeah, like Jumping Jack Flash. You know, uh,
0:43
Speaker 2: there's so many.
0:44
Speaker 1: Before all that. Dude. When I saw the color Purple
0:46
Speaker 1: when I was a kid, and I thought I didn't
0:48
Speaker 1: know anything about acting, but I said, that is one
0:51
Speaker 1: of the best actresses I've ever seen.
0:53
Speaker 2: Absolutely I cried and are you kidding me?
0:55
Speaker 3: I was.
0:57
Speaker 2: For the first time ever in a movie when.
1:00
Speaker 1: They pulled the sisters apart.
1:01
Speaker 4: When they pulled apart me and you us never part
1:06
Speaker 4: Mackey dad Oh.
1:08
Speaker 1: My gosh, I could cry right now.
1:10
Speaker 2: I could now Ain't no mountain, Ain't no c Mackey
1:15
Speaker 2: dad key, my sister away from me, Mackey Dada. And
1:21
Speaker 2: the fact that she went to her sister, went to
1:23
Speaker 2: live with her kids, Adam and Olivia, that was even
1:26
Speaker 2: more special. Man, it was just that's one of those movies.
1:29
Speaker 1: I could get tears in my eyes with you recounting.
1:31
Speaker 1: If you haven't seen The Color Purple, it is a
1:33
Speaker 1: fucking masterpiece. Stevenry, Steven Spielberg.
1:37
Speaker 2: Music by Quincy Jones. Yes, and Spielberg always used John Williams.
1:44
Speaker 2: This was the one of the first times that he
1:46
Speaker 2: didn't use John Williams and used Quincy Jones instead.
1:49
Speaker 1: Well, that's good trivia and whoopy Goldberg's performance is unbelievable.
1:54
Speaker 1: And Oprah Winfrey, Oprah Renfrey, she get not I know
1:58
Speaker 1: she got nominated on she won the Auf Curve for that.
2:00
Speaker 2: Point, nobody from the Color Purple.
2:04
Speaker 1: Who could have beat Joelle? I am so sorry to
2:06
Speaker 1: start right off the bat, but who could have beaten
2:09
Speaker 1: Oprah Winfrey's performance in the color purple? Who is this person?
2:12
Speaker 1: Who is this thespian?
2:14
Speaker 2: That one? Is that? That? That my favorite saying. You
2:17
Speaker 2: told Harpo to beat me. Oh my life. I had
2:22
Speaker 2: to fight. I had to fight my brothers, I had
2:25
Speaker 2: to fight my daddy. I never thought I'd have to
2:28
Speaker 2: fight in my own house. Hmm. God the nowsa dude,
2:37
Speaker 2: but I killed dead?
2:40
Speaker 1: Oh my god. Come on, you just got me all
2:44
Speaker 1: riled up about color purple?
2:45
Speaker 2: Sorry, brother, what I'm Danny?
2:48
Speaker 1: Excuse me?
2:48
Speaker 2: Yeah, Danny Glover, Yeah, Danny Glover.
2:51
Speaker 1: I mean, there's just I agree with you. It was
2:53
Speaker 1: one of the first times I like sobbed in a
2:55
Speaker 1: movie and I was a little kid, and I was
2:57
Speaker 1: just like, just like, wow, this guy.
3:00
Speaker 2: I remember my mom tapping my dad and being like
3:05
Speaker 2: the baby's sheon's crying, My baby's crying at that part, Yeah,
3:10
Speaker 2: me and you us never part. And when she teaches
3:13
Speaker 2: her how to read, and then of course at the
3:15
Speaker 2: end when her sister comes back, when she finds the letters.
3:19
Speaker 1: When she's signing the letters, when she finds the letters.
3:22
Speaker 1: But when I think of, like, you know, sometimes they
3:24
Speaker 1: think about the movies that have made me cry the
3:26
Speaker 1: most I always think of those two sisters being torn
3:30
Speaker 1: apart in the color purple.
3:32
Speaker 2: That and one of my favorite moments in that whole
3:34
Speaker 2: movie is when Sugar Avery played by Margaret uh finally
3:39
Speaker 2: has lightened up to miss Cely and she's written a
3:43
Speaker 2: song with her band called Miss Ceely's Blues and they
3:46
Speaker 2: play it at the juke joint.
3:49
Speaker 3: Sister, you've been oh my mind. Oh sister, we're too
3:57
Speaker 3: of a kind. So, sister, I'm keeping my eye on you.
4:08
Speaker 1: That song is cier and that was the Quincy Jones
4:12
Speaker 1: right then.
4:13
Speaker 2: Yeah, man, this is all Quincy Jones, the whole soundtrack,
4:15
Speaker 2: Quincy Jones Q sister you lot me, oh mama, okay, okay.
4:23
Speaker 1: I can't do it like you. I mean, come on,
4:25
Speaker 1: I know that's nobody could.
4:26
Speaker 2: Nobody could do it like Margaret sug Abrien. Hey should
4:29
Speaker 2: we say get into it? Fine? Si?
4:33
Speaker 5: Stories about show we made about a bunch of times
4:39
Speaker 5: and nurses and janitor. You said, here's the stories nels, No,
4:47
Speaker 5: so gader round here, yeader round here?
4:51
Speaker 3: Up we aso?
4:53
Speaker 6: Is that?
4:57
Speaker 1: So much love for for the theme song, Donald lot
5:00
Speaker 1: to love and on our on our instagrams for for
5:03
Speaker 1: so many things Bill and his five six, seven eighths and.
5:06
Speaker 2: So much love. I didn't realize that there were that
5:09
Speaker 2: few Peloton instructors, so a lot of people were like,
5:13
Speaker 2: oh man, you had such and such.
5:14
Speaker 1: Oh really, who it was? I thought there were dozens
5:16
Speaker 1: of them.
5:17
Speaker 2: No, I guess, not I guess, or I guess the
5:19
Speaker 2: one I described.
5:20
Speaker 1: It was very specific, very specific. You didn't really leave
5:24
Speaker 1: much mystery. Did you work out today? I see you're
5:26
Speaker 1: all sweating up there.
5:27
Speaker 2: I did work out today. I found a new instructor.
5:30
Speaker 1: Oh good, you know you can? You can pat down
5:32
Speaker 1: your head before we do the podcast.
5:33
Speaker 2: That's all I did. I shower, I showered and everything.
5:36
Speaker 2: This is that afterglow. This is that freaking Bruce what
5:39
Speaker 2: Bruce Lee wored was searching for at the end of
5:41
Speaker 2: the Last Dragon. I got that going right now?
5:44
Speaker 1: Oh really, why don't you pull some sweatpants off the
5:46
Speaker 1: rack and pat your forehead now? And I can't look
5:48
Speaker 1: at that for an hour?
5:49
Speaker 2: Does it make you uncomfortable?
5:51
Speaker 7: No?
5:52
Speaker 1: But you need like what do you when you know
5:53
Speaker 1: when the rappers always carry a washcloth? You and I
5:59
Speaker 1: got into big years ago. Go about how you said
6:01
Speaker 1: that African American people always bring a washcloth into the shower.
6:06
Speaker 2: Yeah, we did get into a debate about this.
6:08
Speaker 1: And I said that I've never used a washcloth in
6:10
Speaker 1: the shower, and you said, you said, you said, every
6:13
Speaker 1: black person I know brings a washcloth in the shower.
6:16
Speaker 2: Most black people use washcloth, Joel, can you weigh in
6:19
Speaker 2: on this, she said, knodding her hair yet.
6:22
Speaker 6: Yeah, Black Twitter, when we learned that people do not
6:25
Speaker 6: wash their legs, they were very loud about the use
6:28
Speaker 6: of washcloth and try to inform a lot of people
6:30
Speaker 6: with many races that you could always just take a
6:32
Speaker 6: cloth in there and really scrub, like like.
6:34
Speaker 2: What does your hand do that thing that has like
6:37
Speaker 2: friction that is made for friction when wet.
6:41
Speaker 1: So, as you're married to a Caucasian woman, do you
6:43
Speaker 1: use cloth and she doesn't.
6:45
Speaker 2: Know she uses a washcloth? My wife is Southern. Hold on, now,
6:49
Speaker 2: let's not forget that my wife is Southern. There's a
6:51
Speaker 2: lot of things that Southern white people, even though they
6:55
Speaker 2: might have issues with black people, do exactly the same
6:58
Speaker 2: thing people do.
7:01
Speaker 1: Well, if you're listening, we want to know, no matter
7:04
Speaker 1: what your ethnicity, if you use a wash cloth in
7:07
Speaker 1: the shower, please us up on Instagram and let us
7:11
Speaker 1: know if if you're washing now now you said washing
7:14
Speaker 1: your legs, jo, Well, I definitely think that I neglect
7:16
Speaker 1: my legs in the shower. You know, I throw a
7:20
Speaker 1: little something down there, But I don't like get in
7:22
Speaker 1: there with a wash clo.
7:24
Speaker 2: You need to get in there with a wash cloth.
7:25
Speaker 1: What about your toes? Do you clean your toes?
7:27
Speaker 2: Yeah? Man, you clean your whole body with it.
7:30
Speaker 1: It is.
7:30
Speaker 2: Don't hold on, don't go to the ass and the
7:33
Speaker 2: genitals right away. Wash your body.
7:35
Speaker 1: Save that for the end.
7:36
Speaker 2: You save that for the end.
7:37
Speaker 1: Yes, So you have to replace the wash cloth each shower, Well,
7:41
Speaker 1: I mean because you got to. You might have a
7:43
Speaker 1: little dodo on it if you get in there deep,
7:48
Speaker 1: if you get in there and then you come back
7:51
Speaker 1: and all of a sudden you're righting. Do do all
7:52
Speaker 1: of your eggs?
8:02
Speaker 6: No?
8:02
Speaker 2: No, no, but that listen. It all depends on how
8:04
Speaker 2: well you wipe your ass too though. Okay, so if
8:06
Speaker 2: you got doodo in the crack your ass when your showering, I.
8:09
Speaker 1: Feel no matter how well you wipe, if you stick
8:11
Speaker 1: a washcloth, you know, a quarter of an inch in
8:13
Speaker 1: your aus, you're gonna get a little poo on it,
8:15
Speaker 1: and I don't want to put that on my legs.
8:17
Speaker 2: So let me get this straight. When you are washing
8:20
Speaker 2: your body, you stick your finger a quarter of an
8:22
Speaker 2: inch in you.
8:23
Speaker 1: No, I'm saying if I had no, I don't. But
8:25
Speaker 1: I'm saying, if I had a washcloth, if I have
8:28
Speaker 1: the barrier mitt of a washcloth, I would probably inspired.
8:31
Speaker 1: I'd be inspired to get in there and just get
8:33
Speaker 1: the inner rim a little. No, you know, No, No,
8:42
Speaker 1: Joelle is the test audience, and she's cracking up. Listen, listen.
8:46
Speaker 1: When I clean my sink, donald for the most time,
8:49
Speaker 1: I just you know, I clean the bottom of the sink,
8:50
Speaker 1: get all the stuff to go in the drain. Like
8:52
Speaker 1: once a week, I take a scrub and I really
8:55
Speaker 1: get the rim of the drain hole. So I'm talking
8:59
Speaker 1: about that.
9:00
Speaker 2: Oh, got it, got it, got it, got it. So
9:04
Speaker 2: let me get this straight. You'll wash your dishes, the
9:06
Speaker 2: things that you eat off of, with something right that's
9:10
Speaker 2: not your hand.
9:11
Speaker 1: Yes, So you're inspiring me. Both you and Joel are
9:13
Speaker 1: making me think that I got to change this up.
9:15
Speaker 1: I'm forty five years old. I'm going to change my
9:17
Speaker 1: whole shower routine.
9:18
Speaker 2: Man, We've had this conversation for a very long time,
9:20
Speaker 2: I know, and I haven't changed it yet.
9:21
Speaker 1: I know, well I have done it. I've gone through
9:23
Speaker 1: periods where I where where I where I bring a
9:26
Speaker 1: wahcloth in, But then I'm like, oh, I gotta change
9:27
Speaker 1: in each shower. That's a lot of wash cloths.
9:29
Speaker 2: What about like one of those scrub puffs or like
9:31
Speaker 2: one of those a loofaofa a loofa.
9:34
Speaker 1: Yeah, but I'm not trying to put a loof of
9:35
Speaker 1: between my cheeks scratch my shirt up.
9:41
Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
9:42
Speaker 1: Oh, I'm sorry everybody. I hope you're listening on earphones.
9:47
Speaker 1: I hope you're listening on earphones and not out loud.
9:50
Speaker 1: By the way, I gotta tell you, I'm listening to
9:51
Speaker 1: I'm watching the funniest fucking show. I gotta give this
9:53
Speaker 1: show a shout out. And also because it's on Hulu.
9:57
Speaker 1: One of our sponsors they love this called Dave and
10:01
Speaker 1: it's Little Dicky. It's Little Dickie. I didn't know anything
10:04
Speaker 1: about Little Dickie.
10:05
Speaker 2: You haven't heard. I woke up. Then Chris Brown's body No, oh,
10:11
Speaker 2: he has a song with him and Chris Brown where
10:13
Speaker 2: he wakes up one day and he's Chris Brown and
10:16
Speaker 2: Chris Brown is him.
10:17
Speaker 1: I'm gonna watch. I'm gonna watch all the videos.
10:19
Speaker 2: But dude, you have to watch Freaky Friday.
10:21
Speaker 1: You have to watch Joelle. Have you seen this show?
10:24
Speaker 1: You guys have to watch the show. It is so
10:26
Speaker 1: fucking funny.
10:27
Speaker 2: Ye, and then Dicky is funny.
10:29
Speaker 1: Man, it's a but Donald. You will love it. It's
10:30
Speaker 1: our totally our sense of humor. I didn't know. I
10:33
Speaker 1: didn't know this guy at all. I'm sorry that I'm
10:35
Speaker 1: not hiptote little Dickie. I've seen the billboards are all
10:37
Speaker 1: over LA. I didn't even like the billboards. No offense
10:39
Speaker 1: to the advertising camp.
10:40
Speaker 2: You didn't like little Dicky hanging out of underwear.
10:43
Speaker 6: No.
10:44
Speaker 1: I was like, I saw that billboard, which is all
10:46
Speaker 1: over Los Angeles. It's little Dickie hanging out of a
10:48
Speaker 1: pair of boxers like he's a penis. And I did not.
10:53
Speaker 1: I was like, that's definitely not for me. And then
10:55
Speaker 1: enough people start, including Bill Lawrence and uh and somebody
10:58
Speaker 1: else told me about the show. We binged it. It
11:01
Speaker 1: is so fucking funny. We were sad it was over. Wow,
11:04
Speaker 1: and it's heartfelt. It's one of those things, you know,
11:07
Speaker 1: like you know obviously like the show we're talking about
11:09
Speaker 1: where you're laughing at something so preposterous one minute, and
11:11
Speaker 1: then they find a way to put put hard into it.
11:14
Speaker 1: And he talks all about how fucked up his penises
11:17
Speaker 1: and we were like, you know, it can't be that bad.
11:20
Speaker 6: No.
11:20
Speaker 1: I literally I turned to Mike Gallon, I said, do
11:23
Speaker 1: you think this is all fiction? Or is he really
11:25
Speaker 1: have this messed up a penis? He doesn't mean small,
11:27
Speaker 1: I mean it's small, but also like born with like
11:29
Speaker 1: birth defects that he had to have fixed and which
11:31
Speaker 1: messed it up more. And so right before this podcast,
11:33
Speaker 1: I was googling. I was like embarrassing, laughing at myself.
11:36
Speaker 1: I'm like, is little Dickie's dick really fucked up? And
11:40
Speaker 1: I found this article Like yeah, he was like, no, bullshit.
11:43
Speaker 1: He was born with all these problems with it and
11:44
Speaker 1: he had to have it repaired, and the repairs caused
11:47
Speaker 1: more problems. And he said it was like a super
11:49
Speaker 1: soaker and the pea was coming out to two holes
11:52
Speaker 1: and he has to plug one with his finger when
11:54
Speaker 1: he's at a urinal and all this crazy shit go,
11:57
Speaker 1: oh my gosh, he's got a problem. Penis.
12:01
Speaker 2: Little Dicky is a pretty he's a he's a very
12:04
Speaker 2: good rapper, and he's a very good basketball player too.
12:07
Speaker 1: He's very I know that's in the show, and he's
12:10
Speaker 1: very funny and all of a sudden, you know who's
12:12
Speaker 1: hysterical on the show is uh Benny Blanco plays himself
12:17
Speaker 1: and he's hilarious. I mean, I've never seen the guy
12:20
Speaker 1: act before and he's just the natural. I mean, you
12:22
Speaker 1: cast him in in a show that had nothing to
12:23
Speaker 1: do with playing himself and bier Bieber does a cameo. Anyway,
12:27
Speaker 1: that's my long plug for Dave. You guys, I think
12:29
Speaker 1: that if I'm Dave Yeah, Hi, I'm Dave Donald. I'm
12:34
Speaker 1: telling you you're gonna watch this when we hang up today, Joelle,
12:36
Speaker 1: you two you guys will crack.
12:37
Speaker 2: Up when we're done with the podcast and I put
12:40
Speaker 2: the kids down tonight.
12:41
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's definitely not for It's definitely not for your
12:44
Speaker 1: kids because it's super r rated. But it's funny. Shit,
12:47
Speaker 1: there's amazing supporting cast and it sounds like I'm like,
12:51
Speaker 1: was paid to do an ad for it. But I'm
12:52
Speaker 1: just sharing with you that I loved.
12:53
Speaker 7: It right on.
12:54
Speaker 2: Should we get into our show.
12:55
Speaker 1: Let's get into the show.
12:58
Speaker 2: Awesome, Awesome, we're talking about got My Drug Buddy, My
13:02
Speaker 2: drug Buddy.
13:02
Speaker 1: Great episode. Michael spiller Is is back as director, and
13:06
Speaker 1: Matt one of our favorites. Matt Tarsus is what we
13:11
Speaker 1: we Jews call a mensh just a really sweet heart
13:16
Speaker 1: of a human being. And Matt Tarsus and I made
13:19
Speaker 1: a TV show. It's gonna be a whole. It's all
13:21
Speaker 1: gonna come full circle. We made a TV show called
13:24
Speaker 1: alex Inc. That only went ten episodes because you know,
13:27
Speaker 1: it didn't really click with the fans and didn't work.
13:30
Speaker 1: But we worked on it together and it was about
13:32
Speaker 1: making a podcast, and now here I made a podcast
13:36
Speaker 1: with you, and the podcast we made is more successful
13:38
Speaker 1: on the darn TV show we made.
13:40
Speaker 2: That's that's sometimes how it works out, Buddy.
13:42
Speaker 7: I know.
13:42
Speaker 2: Now we're going on the view and that right now
13:44
Speaker 2: we're going on a view for a podcast. I haven't
13:46
Speaker 2: been on the view ever.
13:48
Speaker 1: Really, you're going on the view for a podcast. Yeah, yeah, Well,
13:52
Speaker 1: don't get into a fight with Megan McCain. You know
13:53
Speaker 1: she gets all riled up.
13:55
Speaker 2: I'm not I don't talk politics.
13:57
Speaker 1: Yea, and me too.
13:58
Speaker 6: We not.
13:59
Speaker 1: We're not to talk any politics. We don't want anyone
14:01
Speaker 1: mad at us.
14:03
Speaker 2: Well, it's not that I don't want anyone mad at
14:04
Speaker 2: it at me. I don't want to get mad at
14:06
Speaker 2: anyone else.
14:06
Speaker 1: I just don't want to let people get all riled up.
14:09
Speaker 1: That's why I don't do politics on here. I don't
14:11
Speaker 1: do politics on Instagram.
14:13
Speaker 2: I hate it. I hope wasting that energy on somebody
14:16
Speaker 2: and having to listen to people's, uh, their opinions. That's
14:23
Speaker 2: my opinion, my opinion, Bam in your face.
14:26
Speaker 1: That's why I'm barely even reading Twitter anymore, because it's
14:29
Speaker 1: just the most It's like the most agro insane place
14:33
Speaker 1: if you were if it were a town, you would
14:36
Speaker 1: never go to that town.
14:38
Speaker 2: Ever you get into a fight, it'd be the town
14:40
Speaker 2: that you go to when you're ready to fight. Listen,
14:42
Speaker 2: So this one's called my drug buddy. Great artis great episode.
14:46
Speaker 2: You know what I noticed though, is that I didn't
14:48
Speaker 2: laugh out loud that much, but I still had great feelings.
14:51
Speaker 2: Like when the show was over, I was still like,
14:53
Speaker 2: that was such a good episode. But I didn't have moments.
14:56
Speaker 1: Rather, we didn't laugh out loud. You didn't laugh aloud
14:58
Speaker 1: when kelseol Judy's trying to get in the car and
15:00
Speaker 1: Kelsel rolls down the window like a quarter inch. That
15:03
Speaker 1: shit was hilarious.
15:04
Speaker 2: No, I didn't laugh at that, you know I did laugh.
15:06
Speaker 2: There was one moment where I laughed out loud. What
15:09
Speaker 2: you owe me twenty bucks made me laugh so hard. Yeah,
15:12
Speaker 2: that was when the janitor comes up at the end,
15:14
Speaker 2: after you've gotten you know, after you and.
15:17
Speaker 1: Let's about what about don't look no, no, no, yeah.
15:20
Speaker 2: Well I've seen you do that for I've seen you
15:22
Speaker 2: do that for twenty something years now, since I met you.
15:25
Speaker 2: You've been doing that.
15:27
Speaker 1: That's my shit. Everyone, Yeah, that is I was not
15:29
Speaker 1: That was not written by the legendary Bill Lawrence or
15:32
Speaker 1: this men she met Tarsis. You've heard about hiding nipples
15:36
Speaker 1: all me. Okay, So you taste like eggs. So we wait,
15:41
Speaker 1: we see we wake up next to that, we still
15:43
Speaker 1: haven't had sex. JD and an Alex. That's the point
15:47
Speaker 1: of the episode, is we we never done the deed.
15:51
Speaker 1: We wake up. She says, I taste like old eggs,
15:53
Speaker 1: and she likes she likes old eggs. Do you remember
15:57
Speaker 1: you've been in a relationship forever, But do you remember
15:59
Speaker 1: trying to hold your your morning breath from somebody new?
16:02
Speaker 6: No?
16:03
Speaker 1: Never, no, Oh, I always do. I always did. You
16:06
Speaker 1: know back when you know when something's new and you're like,
16:08
Speaker 1: you don't want them to think like you pooh, you fart,
16:10
Speaker 1: you you ever could have bad breath. You're like trying
16:13
Speaker 1: to present the best version of yourself.
16:16
Speaker 2: Now, what you see is what you get. Really, Yeah,
16:19
Speaker 2: and I am I and and and that sometimes is
16:21
Speaker 2: a problem. I'm who I am from the beginning to
16:25
Speaker 2: the end of the relationship. So what makes you better,
16:30
Speaker 2: what makes you fall for me is the same thing
16:32
Speaker 2: as the reason why you broke up with me? Most
16:34
Speaker 2: likely all of this. Oh he has potential ship No no, no, no,
16:38
Speaker 2: it stops at the door you walk in. It's bullshit.
16:40
Speaker 1: Though you've been fixed up, you were Casey fixed your
16:43
Speaker 1: ass up a bit.
16:44
Speaker 2: Yeah, Kate, Well, Casey's a different story. I said from
16:47
Speaker 2: the beginning to the end. I'm still in this.
16:49
Speaker 1: So you're still a work in progress, is what you're saying.
16:52
Speaker 2: Look, and I've done what JD's done before too, where
16:55
Speaker 2: I've watched you know, my wife's sleep and just looked
16:58
Speaker 2: at her like, well, I can't believe she's my romantic.
17:02
Speaker 2: I've done that a couple of times. I'm not gonna lie.
17:05
Speaker 2: And then there's a times rab.
17:06
Speaker 1: Casey listened to the podcast.
17:07
Speaker 2: By the way, no, of course not. The only time
17:10
Speaker 2: Casey listens to the podcast is when I'm like, I
17:13
Speaker 2: talked about you on the podcast and she's like, oh
17:15
Speaker 2: you did did you let me listen to the podcast?
17:17
Speaker 1: Well, she's gonna love what you just said. That was
17:19
Speaker 1: very romantic.
17:20
Speaker 2: It's the truth.
17:21
Speaker 1: Oh that's sweet. How about this monkey? How about this monkey?
17:23
Speaker 1: In the March? Bill was so into weird animals. I
17:28
Speaker 1: mean we had we always had weird animals on the show.
17:31
Speaker 2: But I love it. I love monkeys.
17:32
Speaker 1: I love I love monkeys too. And I don't know why.
17:34
Speaker 1: I guess that monkey was not performing because he's so
17:37
Speaker 1: sped up. It's like weird, Like, I guess he you know,
17:40
Speaker 1: it's a lot to ask a monkey to clap cymbals,
17:42
Speaker 1: but but he did it.
17:44
Speaker 7: He did it.
17:44
Speaker 2: Did you see the video of that monkey trying to
17:46
Speaker 2: kidnap that kid?
17:48
Speaker 1: Oh? What's up?
17:49
Speaker 2: So there's a video on Instagram of a monkey riding
17:52
Speaker 2: a bike. He jumps off the bike like a gangster,
17:56
Speaker 2: grabs an infant and snatches it up and tries to
18:02
Speaker 2: run off with this little baby.
18:03
Speaker 1: Where is this taking place.
18:04
Speaker 2: I don't know where. There's it wherever They got monkeys
18:06
Speaker 2: riding on bicycles in the street.
18:08
Speaker 4: God snatches the monkey. The monkey snatches the baby and
18:13
Speaker 4: rides away, and somebody's like, hey, hey, hey, And then
18:16
Speaker 4: a monkey like kind of gets scared that he's seen.
18:19
Speaker 2: Trying to steal a baby. Right now, Dan, you can
18:24
Speaker 2: totally ride along.
18:25
Speaker 1: Oh it's only fifteen seconds. I'm watching now.
18:27
Speaker 7: What the fuck?
18:29
Speaker 1: Why's the monkey taking the kid?
18:31
Speaker 2: Oh my god.
18:36
Speaker 1: Indonesia, Indonesiaia. Don't bring your kid to Indonesia.
18:41
Speaker 2: They will rob they will steal your kid.
18:43
Speaker 1: They're climbing in your window. They snatched.
18:48
Speaker 2: Kids.
18:50
Speaker 1: Have you seen the monkey gangs fighting. I don't know
18:52
Speaker 1: if it's Indonesia or where, but there's this place where
18:54
Speaker 1: there's always tourism and people are always feeding all these monkeys,
18:59
Speaker 1: and because of the pandemic, nobody's feeding these hundreds and
19:03
Speaker 1: hundreds of monkeys, so they're getting in like turf wars.
19:07
Speaker 1: The gangs of different monkeys are like getting into street
19:09
Speaker 1: brawls over the scraps of food because there's no tourists
19:13
Speaker 1: feeding them.
19:14
Speaker 2: This sounds like a movie.
19:16
Speaker 1: Have you guys seen that one, Joel or Dane?
19:19
Speaker 2: I have not. I've seen. This reminds me of like
19:21
Speaker 2: Watership Down or something like that, where the Hares go
19:24
Speaker 2: at it with each other.
19:25
Speaker 1: Dan's gonna find out video down because now you got
19:27
Speaker 1: to see my viral monkey video.
19:29
Speaker 2: Okay, I can't wait to see it now.
19:31
Speaker 1: When you say that's what I'm talking about, first time ever,
19:34
Speaker 1: first first time ever, you didn't laugh at yourself.
19:37
Speaker 2: I did no, because I say it, I say it
19:39
Speaker 2: in real life all the time.
19:41
Speaker 1: That was kind of like you're what you're talking about, Willis?
19:43
Speaker 2: That was I was what you're talking about. Willis.
19:45
Speaker 1: Listen, you gotta have a catchphrase.
19:47
Speaker 2: And I did have one. You had one too, I
19:49
Speaker 2: didn't intend.
19:50
Speaker 1: To what was mine? Eagle egle? By the way, speaking
19:54
Speaker 1: of my catchphrase, one of which was nobody cares Sean.
19:57
Speaker 1: I had so much people on Instagram writing how could
20:01
Speaker 1: you guys have a Sean on the show and not
20:03
Speaker 1: say to him nobody cares Sean. But listen, we have
20:07
Speaker 1: the real Scott Foley coming on.
20:10
Speaker 2: I'a uh. And is it true that we got Brendan
20:14
Speaker 2: Fraser coming on too?
20:15
Speaker 1: I didn't know we were gonna tell the people, but yes,
20:17
Speaker 1: we got Brendan Fraser coming on.
20:18
Speaker 2: I'm really excited about that.
20:20
Speaker 1: Everybody wants to be on this hot podcast, you know,
20:22
Speaker 1: the one that's going on the view. Everybody wants to
20:24
Speaker 1: talk about the hottest podcast.
20:25
Speaker 2: Is it true that Krista Miller's coming on too?
20:28
Speaker 1: Yeah, we got Christa Miller, we got we got coming,
20:31
Speaker 1: we got Neil Flynn, we got Johnny c McGinley coming back.
20:34
Speaker 1: We got Billet for our finale of season one. You guys,
20:37
Speaker 1: you're getting all of this fucking inside scoop on this episode.
20:43
Speaker 1: We're gonna have Bill and Krista on together.
20:45
Speaker 2: Oh I love it. So they can if we can,
20:48
Speaker 2: we should see if we can get like the whole
20:50
Speaker 2: cast on at one point and do like a The only.
20:53
Speaker 1: Thing about that is, if you've ever been on a
20:54
Speaker 1: zoom call with more than like four people, it just
20:57
Speaker 1: devolves into mayhem. I mean, yeah, we could do it.
20:59
Speaker 1: It's it's just I did a zoom call with like
21:02
Speaker 1: my family for somebody for my own birthdays sorry about
21:04
Speaker 1: to say for somebody's We've done it for a couple
21:05
Speaker 1: of birthdays. But like everyone's talking over everyone, and my
21:09
Speaker 1: parents don't know how to use it, and and everybody's
21:12
Speaker 1: screaming over each other. I you know, it doesn't work.
21:15
Speaker 1: But no, but but but but you're right, Donald, I
21:17
Speaker 1: want to give to people what they want.
21:19
Speaker 2: They might want us to like read a script or
21:21
Speaker 2: something like that. Maybe we could do something like that.
21:22
Speaker 1: I don't know, I know, but Bill's not gonna go
21:24
Speaker 1: write a fucking Scrubs episode right now. He's too busy. Okay,
21:28
Speaker 1: he's got like nine shows. Hey, look at that video.
21:30
Speaker 1: Dan just put it in the chat. They want that
21:32
Speaker 1: tourist food.
21:33
Speaker 2: Yeo. Yeah, they're chas enough to do it with their.
21:45
Speaker 1: Who hell no, that's rival monkey gangs.
21:49
Speaker 2: Hell to the no, hell no.
21:51
Speaker 1: All right, so there we go.
21:52
Speaker 2: We had a monkey on the episode.
21:54
Speaker 1: Yes, sorry, tell us a long digression.
21:57
Speaker 2: We had a monkey that was in the episode of Scrubs.
21:59
Speaker 7: Was so long.
22:01
Speaker 1: That was a long digression.
22:02
Speaker 2: My drug buddy hasn't a monkey.
22:04
Speaker 1: Yeah, now okay, how about uh, how about keep it holy?
22:08
Speaker 3: Now?
22:08
Speaker 1: That was funny, Aloma fifty.
22:11
Speaker 2: Keep it holy? Now that one and the janitor asking
22:14
Speaker 2: you if you slept with her yet.
22:16
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a whole runner, the whole runner of the episode.
22:20
Speaker 1: The janitor's whole point in this episode is to make
22:23
Speaker 1: fun of me for not sleeping with my girlfriend. With
22:25
Speaker 1: your hot girlfriend, by the way, I feel like that's
22:28
Speaker 1: a thing when JD gets these hot girlfriends and then
22:30
Speaker 1: somehow doesn't close and never sleeps with them. Remember when
22:34
Speaker 1: I get I got actually with with with Liz Banks,
22:39
Speaker 1: I think we had had sex, but the time I
22:41
Speaker 1: got her pregnant, we we didn't have intercourse. Remember I
22:44
Speaker 1: said there was some, there was some, There was some.
22:48
Speaker 1: You know, I forgot the analogy, but this whole elaborate
22:50
Speaker 1: thing about how there was there was fire that landed
22:54
Speaker 1: near the sight the site. I wonder if you can
22:59
Speaker 1: really I mean, I guess you all we can really
23:00
Speaker 1: get pregnant that way.
23:02
Speaker 2: I mean, if we put it on the show, it's
23:03
Speaker 2: probably true.
23:04
Speaker 1: Yeah, someone must have googled it. But what a horrible
23:07
Speaker 1: thing to have happened.
23:08
Speaker 2: You know, I also love that your grace and will
23:12
Speaker 2: and grace, you're not will your grace.
23:15
Speaker 1: Yeah that makes sense. I laughed how loud, like I
23:19
Speaker 1: said at four twenty two when Kelso rolls down the
23:21
Speaker 1: window and inch for Judy. By the way, I totally
23:23
Speaker 1: don't remember at all this Kelso Judy storyline, but I
23:26
Speaker 1: thought it was very funny. Yeah, and they were both
23:29
Speaker 1: really good together.
23:30
Speaker 2: Yeah, they have good chemistry.
23:32
Speaker 1: Also says I don't.
23:33
Speaker 7: I don't.
23:34
Speaker 1: It means she doesn't give a crap a.
23:35
Speaker 2: Cheeto, right, Yeah, it was a great moment.
23:41
Speaker 1: I noticed at six oh four, I'm in the on
23:44
Speaker 1: call room with Alex Liz Bogish and Sarah comes in
23:48
Speaker 1: and mentions the missing percocet, and if you know the
23:50
Speaker 1: end of the episode, you track her face, she's got
23:52
Speaker 1: a very guilty face on.
23:54
Speaker 2: Yeah. That was like I said, Man, we always dropped clues,
23:58
Speaker 2: you know. And the way she deflected it was by saying,
24:02
Speaker 2: you know, like when watching it this time around, knowing
24:04
Speaker 2: how the out knowing what the outcome was, I was like,
24:07
Speaker 2: oh my gosh, she just totally gave it away just now. Yeah,
24:10
Speaker 2: she totally winked at the camera like I did it.
24:13
Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, but it's funny any time you know
24:15
Speaker 1: them the end of the movie or a TV show
24:17
Speaker 1: and you go back, you'll hopefully see some little clues.
24:20
Speaker 1: Of course, I never watched this probably I probably only
24:23
Speaker 1: watched this episode once. I never noticed it. But this
24:25
Speaker 1: time watching it back, I noticed that either it was
24:28
Speaker 1: her choice or Spiller directed her to give a little
24:31
Speaker 1: bit of a look. But she definitely gives a look
24:32
Speaker 1: like oshit.
24:33
Speaker 2: Yeah, but that doesn't usually, That's what I'm trying to say. Usually,
24:37
Speaker 2: you know, a lot of movies you go back and
24:39
Speaker 2: you can't you can't find you know, somebody whoever wrote it,
24:43
Speaker 2: or television shows too, you go back and you can't
24:45
Speaker 2: find where it all tracked from. It doesn't always track.
24:49
Speaker 2: You know, who's really good at tracking things are like,
24:51
Speaker 2: you know, James Franco and Seth Rogan and them when
24:54
Speaker 2: they write movies, like when I saw This is the End,
24:57
Speaker 2: Franco gives you the whole plot in the beginning of
25:00
Speaker 2: the movie of what the movie is gonna be, and
25:02
Speaker 2: you don't listen to it necessarily because you're just you're
25:05
Speaker 2: waiting for the laughs. And at the end of the
25:07
Speaker 2: movie it's it's exactly what he said to Rogan in
25:10
Speaker 2: the beginning. He's like, no, this is gonna happen. This happens,
25:13
Speaker 2: And then at the end Danny eats me and then
25:16
Speaker 2: it happens in the movie Will We Do That?
25:18
Speaker 1: But been a special case where you didn't track it
25:20
Speaker 1: because you were high off your ass.
25:24
Speaker 2: That's another thing that I've stopped recently. Ganja, you talked
25:28
Speaker 2: about how you know you eat unhealthy and you went
25:32
Speaker 2: on this fast because.
25:33
Speaker 7: I gave you.
25:34
Speaker 1: I gave you a pep talk about your diet.
25:36
Speaker 7: Yeah.
25:36
Speaker 2: Well you also talked about it on the on the
25:39
Speaker 2: podcast where you were like, you know you we made
25:41
Speaker 2: all of this pizza and then finally we were like,
25:43
Speaker 2: we're gonna get healthy. He just showed me his abs. Yes, me,
25:47
Speaker 2: Dan and Joel his abs. They looked good.
25:51
Speaker 1: If Dan and Joel want to be inspired as well,
25:53
Speaker 1: they can be very nice.
25:55
Speaker 2: Anyway, you talked about it, and I was like, well,
25:58
Speaker 2: I'm doing so many horrible things, like I made fried
26:01
Speaker 2: chicken last night.
26:02
Speaker 1: You sent me a picture of you eating fried chicken.
26:05
Speaker 1: How is that going to help your diet?
26:06
Speaker 2: It was delicious. By the way, I'm really good at
26:10
Speaker 2: cooking now, but I can only cook bad foods, you
26:13
Speaker 2: know what I mean. And so I was like, I
26:15
Speaker 2: gotta cut this out. And so I've decided, Oh, so
26:19
Speaker 2: you gave up weed last night. You know how it
26:21
Speaker 2: is with me when I give you these speeches, Donald
26:24
Speaker 2: is it's not like I've been off of it for
26:28
Speaker 2: you know, a week. Donald stop smoking weed literally less than.
26:35
Speaker 1: An hour ago. Donald is so funny. This is classic
26:37
Speaker 1: Donald Faizon to be like, yo, yo, I stopped smoking weed.
26:40
Speaker 1: I'll be like, oh man, good for you, good for
26:41
Speaker 1: you when this morning.
26:46
Speaker 2: I woke up this morning.
26:46
Speaker 1: But the crazy frustrating thing about you that I fucking
26:49
Speaker 1: hate is when when Donald commits to get in shape,
26:52
Speaker 1: he can do it in like a month. He'll be ripped,
26:54
Speaker 1: like he will go so hardcore, he'll work out every day,
26:57
Speaker 1: he'll totally change his diet and then you'll see him
27:00
Speaker 1: and he'll be like, holy shit, you did that in
27:02
Speaker 1: four weeks, and that spoiled your ass, because now you know,
27:06
Speaker 1: in an emergency, like if you get some part where
27:07
Speaker 1: you gotta be looking good, you can fucking do it
27:10
Speaker 1: so fast.
27:11
Speaker 7: Right.
27:12
Speaker 2: So, if you're list Marvel Star Wars, if you're listening
27:17
Speaker 2: and you're ever, if you're ever thinking about hiring Donald Fazon,
27:21
Speaker 2: who I am?
27:21
Speaker 1: Who I am?
27:24
Speaker 2: Come up?
27:25
Speaker 1: Who I am?
27:27
Speaker 2: And you're like, ah, but he looks like he's out
27:30
Speaker 2: of shape right now, know that all it takes is
27:34
Speaker 2: one month and I'm yours.
27:36
Speaker 1: Did you see Kamal?
27:38
Speaker 2: Oh my god, he looks amazing.
27:40
Speaker 1: Fucking hell man, he looks amazing. He went all out.
27:43
Speaker 1: He looks like an action figure.
27:45
Speaker 2: He does look like an action figure. He looks well.
27:47
Speaker 2: It suits him too. It doesn't look bad on him either.
27:50
Speaker 1: And I like the fact that he shouted out his
27:52
Speaker 1: whole team that did it, because I think sometimes these
27:54
Speaker 1: these famous actor types, they show what they did and
27:57
Speaker 1: they don't say like, oh and I had a chef
27:59
Speaker 1: and I had a trainer, because yeah, you gotta be
28:01
Speaker 1: honest with people and say like, hey, I had a
28:03
Speaker 1: team helped me with this. And I like I liked
28:05
Speaker 1: when he revealed it on Instagram that he that he
28:07
Speaker 1: shouted out everybody that helped him.
28:08
Speaker 2: Right, it's not something that you can do by yourself.
28:10
Speaker 2: I don't know how The Rock does it, but I'm
28:12
Speaker 2: sure the Rock has too.
28:14
Speaker 1: He's a zillionaire. He's got it. He literally he literally
28:16
Speaker 1: literally puts up a gym wherever he goes. He's got
28:19
Speaker 1: a tent, like a wedding tent gym that that gets
28:22
Speaker 1: set up wherever he goes.
28:23
Speaker 2: Yeah, the Iron Paradise.
28:26
Speaker 1: Should we get back to the episode Donalds, let's do
28:28
Speaker 1: it the love of God? Yeah, I thought at seven
28:32
Speaker 1: oh five it was funny. They're on the when they're
28:34
Speaker 1: online at the coffee shop. The guy's wearing a giant
28:36
Speaker 1: headset like his kind of dates the show at two
28:39
Speaker 1: thousand and one or whatever. He's wearing like a full
28:41
Speaker 1: on like megaphone headset. Is it?
28:44
Speaker 2: Is it a headset so he can call out orders over?
28:47
Speaker 1: No? No, no, no, no no. This was was a
28:50
Speaker 1: guy online. Remember she Judy gets in a fight.
28:51
Speaker 2: Oh, that's right, and he's on the phone.
28:53
Speaker 1: Right, But this is before the headsets got tiny.
28:56
Speaker 2: Right, he had the Janet Jackson went on, yeah, yeah.
29:00
Speaker 1: Or like the or what is it? What was the
29:01
Speaker 1: boy band and syk or whatever that you have the
29:03
Speaker 1: bige bye bye, yeah, coming up, big headsets. So John
29:08
Speaker 1: C and I you're on a sign please schedule. Has
29:10
Speaker 1: that ever happened to you? Uh? No, me, neither.
29:14
Speaker 2: I've never had to go to the bathroom at the
29:15
Speaker 2: same time as another man consistently, Like I've gone to
29:19
Speaker 2: the bathroom and and another man has been in the bathroom.
29:22
Speaker 2: But I didn't go back to the bathroom four more
29:25
Speaker 2: times that day and see same dude.
29:29
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's awkward. I really hate I agree with Johnny C.
29:31
Speaker 1: I don't like fucking urinal banter.
29:34
Speaker 2: And I'm sure side contact either.
29:36
Speaker 1: No, And I'm sure someone like you being in the
29:39
Speaker 1: public eye sometimes you have people that want to fist
29:41
Speaker 1: bump you and talk to you in the men's room.
29:43
Speaker 2: That's no, no, no, no, has that happened to you before?
29:48
Speaker 1: I just want to want to do it hit people
29:49
Speaker 1: want to do hip hop hugs. People want to fist bump.
29:52
Speaker 2: Nope, dude. I remember one time, this dude, we're at
29:55
Speaker 2: the urinal and he's like, dude, I love your work.
29:58
Speaker 2: And I was like, oh shit, okay cool. And then
30:01
Speaker 2: we go to the sink uh oh, and he's like
30:04
Speaker 2: and we're washing our hands and he's like, I'm telling
30:06
Speaker 2: you right now, man, is so good. You shine in
30:09
Speaker 2: like a gold diamond right now, like a gold diamond.
30:13
Speaker 1: I was the kiss is a good kisser.
30:18
Speaker 2: He was a great kisser. Not a great cuddler, but
30:21
Speaker 2: great kisser.
30:21
Speaker 1: I don't think you know, it's fine. I don't want
30:23
Speaker 1: to talk when I'm at the urinal, like if you're
30:25
Speaker 1: by the way, you speaking of headsets, you see dudes
30:27
Speaker 1: like on their phone at the urinal and they're like, no, Jim,
30:30
Speaker 1: I told you, and they're like, they're like shaking their
30:33
Speaker 1: dick and then they're like then they pull out their
30:35
Speaker 1: phone while they're peeing and they got their dick dangling
30:37
Speaker 1: and they're like checking their Instagram. That's not my style.
30:40
Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, that sounds horrible.
30:42
Speaker 1: Now I notice you and Johnny. I guess it's to
30:44
Speaker 1: hide penis for the camera, but you're standing very close.
30:48
Speaker 1: And even Joel commented on this in her notes that
30:51
Speaker 1: she said, dude guy, Joel said, quote, do guys really
30:55
Speaker 1: stand that clothes to the urinal? And I want to
30:57
Speaker 1: be like, no, Joel, No, I mean I get this,
31:00
Speaker 1: the camera angle you had to hide your junk. Women
31:02
Speaker 1: probably want to know this. But there's all different types
31:04
Speaker 1: of urinals. There's you know, at the stadium there's like
31:07
Speaker 1: just a trough, right, and then at that like a
31:09
Speaker 1: high end restaurant, they'll be like a border that like
31:12
Speaker 1: blocks like, no, this is MySpace, you can't look into
31:15
Speaker 1: my shit right now. And nowadays to put a little
31:18
Speaker 1: you know, it's funny they put something for men to
31:21
Speaker 1: aim for, because studies have found that when men have
31:24
Speaker 1: something to aim at, they're way less likely to splash everywhere.
31:28
Speaker 1: So now in the urinals they put like an etched
31:31
Speaker 1: little bug or a little bull's eye, and you're supposed
31:34
Speaker 1: to I mean, it's not, it's not. It doesn't say
31:36
Speaker 1: please aim for the bug. You just your brain is like,
31:38
Speaker 1: I'm a hit that fucking fake bug. And the physics
31:42
Speaker 1: of it. If you aim for that bug perfectly, you're
31:45
Speaker 1: least likely to splash all over the floor, right.
31:48
Speaker 2: I always wonder how that happens, you know what I mean.
31:50
Speaker 2: You get on you get on a plane and you
31:52
Speaker 2: go into the bathroom and a plane and somebody has
31:54
Speaker 2: just like shipped their brains out in the bath flow like,
31:57
Speaker 2: and you're like, what the fuck, dude explode. I remember
32:02
Speaker 2: one time some lady came at the One time, this
32:06
Speaker 2: young lady came out of the bathroom and I saw
32:08
Speaker 2: when she came out she was in there for a while,
32:10
Speaker 2: but when she came out, I saw that she was
32:12
Speaker 2: She had the moment of I should tell you not
32:17
Speaker 2: to go in, but I'm not gonna say anything because
32:21
Speaker 2: I'm a little embarrassed, and I went into the bathroom
32:24
Speaker 2: and it was everywhere everyone, and I was like, what
32:26
Speaker 2: do you do? And I wanted to come out and
32:28
Speaker 2: be like.
32:28
Speaker 1: That happened, right, What did you do? What did you eat?
32:31
Speaker 1: Did you have the fish?
32:32
Speaker 2: So when I walked by her going back to my seat,
32:35
Speaker 2: when I walked by her, I just looked at her
32:36
Speaker 2: and shook my head, No, you did it. I was
32:39
Speaker 2: like with disapprovement.
32:40
Speaker 1: Oh that's fucked up. Yeah, listen, have you ever gone
32:45
Speaker 1: into a bathroom like an like an airplane bathroom and
32:49
Speaker 1: it's just horrible, like someone just destroyed it and you
32:52
Speaker 1: you didn't You just gonna peel or whatever and get out.
32:53
Speaker 1: And then you were like as you come out, the
32:55
Speaker 1: person in line, and you feel like you want to
32:57
Speaker 1: tell him like, I didn't do that. I need you
33:01
Speaker 1: to know, especially when you're in the public eye, You're like,
33:04
Speaker 1: you don't want you to go home and tell your
33:05
Speaker 1: friends like Donald He's on destroyed that fucking airline bathroom.
33:08
Speaker 1: So you got to be like, hey, I just went Pete,
33:11
Speaker 1: I had nothing to do with it.
33:14
Speaker 2: In there. I'll even come out and be like you
33:17
Speaker 2: need to get the stewardess because whoever was in their
33:19
Speaker 2: last you need to get the flight attendant, because whoever
33:23
Speaker 2: was in their last totally messed up.
33:25
Speaker 1: I had nothing to do with the stalag tights on
33:29
Speaker 1: the ceiling, right.
33:30
Speaker 2: So when Johnny ces banging his head on the wall,
33:33
Speaker 2: I remember, they cut a hole in the wall into
33:36
Speaker 2: the other room and then put up a gym matt
33:41
Speaker 2: had Yeah, yeah, no, a matt, a gym matt, and
33:44
Speaker 2: then covered the wall again with uh set wall, yeah,
33:49
Speaker 2: whatever the set wall was, and they covered it up
33:51
Speaker 2: so that he could bang his wall and not get
33:54
Speaker 2: a concussion. And if I remember correctly, because that bathroom
33:57
Speaker 2: that we were in was actually two where they cut
34:00
Speaker 2: a hole in the wall and then just put a
34:03
Speaker 2: fake urinal again.
34:05
Speaker 1: Yeah, well that's how they got that shot of you.
34:06
Speaker 1: There's a shot of you straight on and the plumbing
34:10
Speaker 1: of the of the urinals in the foreground. They could
34:12
Speaker 1: have never gotten that shot if that wall wasn't removable,
34:14
Speaker 1: or or they could have rigged that little plumbing thing
34:17
Speaker 1: right in front of the camera. I don't know what
34:18
Speaker 1: they did.
34:19
Speaker 2: Also, the hospital didn't have bathrooms like that, if you recall.
34:23
Speaker 1: Right, it didn't have shared men's rooms like that right, right, yeah, right.
34:27
Speaker 2: Or and if it did, If it did, they put
34:30
Speaker 2: the urinals on the wall, you had to go into
34:32
Speaker 2: a stall.
34:33
Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's very hard. It's very hard to shoot
34:34
Speaker 1: in a bathroom anyway. So but yeah, so you and Johnny,
34:38
Speaker 1: that's the whole arc is actually there's a lot more
34:40
Speaker 1: to the arc. It's we were revealed. I never remembered
34:42
Speaker 1: at all that it was this blatant that Cox had
34:45
Speaker 1: a whole thing for for Carlo.
34:48
Speaker 2: Yeah.
34:49
Speaker 1: I mean, you guys have it out, you know at
34:51
Speaker 1: the end.
34:52
Speaker 2: Yeah, And that's what I was trying to tell Johnny,
34:54
Speaker 2: and he was like I didn't believe it. I'm like,
34:55
Speaker 2: all right, well whatever, man, But.
34:58
Speaker 1: Well when we have him on, he's coming back on,
35:01
Speaker 1: so we gotta we can ask him about this, right.
35:04
Speaker 1: I laughed when you went, I went. I laughed when
35:06
Speaker 1: you went. You're my little peabody, right right.
35:10
Speaker 2: I remember, I remember when we were shooting this. This
35:13
Speaker 2: is when I was like wow. And I even said
35:15
Speaker 2: to him, Johnny, don't intimidate me. And he was like,
35:18
Speaker 2: I'm not intimidating you, man, don't you know, shut the
35:21
Speaker 2: fuck up with that. And I was like, you're right.
35:24
Speaker 2: Let me, just let me do my work. And I
35:26
Speaker 2: remember being very excited to work with john because I,
35:30
Speaker 2: you know, this, this was really my first moment ever
35:33
Speaker 2: that we had multiple scenes together.
35:35
Speaker 1: And your first story arc together, right, and so we.
35:38
Speaker 2: Were working together multiple days. It wasn't just one day
35:43
Speaker 2: of filming, and we got to develop some form of
35:48
Speaker 2: timing together because we didn't necessarily have that at this point.
35:52
Speaker 1: So wait, when you started this episode, you said to
35:54
Speaker 1: him like, don't intimidate me.
35:57
Speaker 2: We were doing a scene, the scene where we're face
35:59
Speaker 2: to face, and Johnny is an intimidating person, and he
36:03
Speaker 2: you know, but he was in character.
36:04
Speaker 1: He's supposed to be trying to intimidate you.
36:06
Speaker 2: Right, But as as a young actor who's working with
36:12
Speaker 2: somebody you admire and you're doing stuff like that, you know,
36:16
Speaker 2: I I got nervous and I was and I you know,
36:19
Speaker 2: I mumbled out, come on, man, don't intimidate me. And
36:22
Speaker 2: he's like, shut the fuck up, I'm not intimidating you
36:24
Speaker 2: just do the scene.
36:25
Speaker 1: And I was like, you're actually right, right, good?
36:27
Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
36:28
Speaker 1: So it so it worked out because I think you
36:30
Speaker 1: guys are really great together. It's very funny Johnny you know,
36:34
Speaker 1: he always was kind of you know, think about it
36:36
Speaker 1: in when he was on set kind of in character
36:39
Speaker 1: as Cocks, he was always kind of like, you know,
36:40
Speaker 1: he's one of those guys, you know, some actors, not
36:43
Speaker 1: like on the Daniel de Lewis level, you hear where
36:45
Speaker 1: someone's like you have to call him President Lincoln. But
36:48
Speaker 1: like he was always you know, he was always kind
36:50
Speaker 1: of you know a lot of people stay kind of
36:52
Speaker 1: roughly many, but Tanken did that and wish I was here.
36:54
Speaker 1: You know, he would you know, he would be on set,
36:57
Speaker 1: he'd kind of be being the guy even when you
36:59
Speaker 1: weren't shoot, and then you'd call rap and he'd be like, hey,
37:01
Speaker 1: that was a great day, man, see you tomorrow, and
37:03
Speaker 1: big hug, and he was like and Johnny, Johnny. I
37:06
Speaker 1: feel was like that he would kind of, you know,
37:08
Speaker 1: he was always kind of, don't you think, kind of
37:10
Speaker 1: stay a little bit in the Cox character.
37:12
Speaker 2: And I think and I think that's what everybody interprets
37:14
Speaker 2: as he's intense and stuff like that, and and and
37:18
Speaker 2: why people are nervous when they work with him for
37:21
Speaker 2: the first time because they misconstrue that as this dude
37:26
Speaker 2: is one hundred percent method, or this dude is an asshole,
37:30
Speaker 2: or this dude's just too intense for me, and what
37:34
Speaker 2: he was doing was just being Cox when Cox is
37:36
Speaker 2: in the hospital. When we work together, you know, I
37:40
Speaker 2: was very excited to work with the man. I thought
37:42
Speaker 2: it was I and I love the way the story
37:45
Speaker 2: arc ends. I love that we you know, he's trying
37:48
Speaker 2: to hide it from everyone that he's in love with Carla,
37:52
Speaker 2: and we figure it out, and you and I figure
37:55
Speaker 2: it out. But she hasn't figured it out yet, and so,
37:58
Speaker 2: which is really weird.
38:00
Speaker 1: Carla not know that Johnny, No, she doesn't.
38:03
Speaker 2: I feel like I feel like women know right away,
38:06
Speaker 2: and so no, I think that's bullshit.
38:07
Speaker 1: I think a lot of women are like, we're just friends,
38:11
Speaker 1: and I want to be like, have you not seen
38:12
Speaker 1: when Harry met Sally? Watch that ship?
38:15
Speaker 2: I think they say we're just friends to push you
38:18
Speaker 2: into a friends into the friend zone. Anytime a woman goes, no,
38:21
Speaker 2: we're just friends, she knows what's going on, and I disagree.
38:25
Speaker 1: I disagree. No no no, no no no no no
38:29
Speaker 1: wait wait wait wait wait wait, Before Joel answers, I
38:31
Speaker 1: want to say something I'm not talking about. I'm talking
38:34
Speaker 1: about how many times have you spoken to a woman,
38:37
Speaker 1: whether it be your wife or a girlfriend or someone
38:38
Speaker 1: else in your life, and you go, you know that guy,
38:42
Speaker 1: straight guy friend you have wants to sleep with you, right,
38:45
Speaker 1: And they're like, what, No, we're just friends.
38:49
Speaker 2: My wife doesn't have any straight friends.
38:51
Speaker 1: Right, guys, well back in the day she might have
38:54
Speaker 1: and she does.
38:56
Speaker 2: No, she doesn't.
38:56
Speaker 1: All right, well back in the.
38:57
Speaker 2: Day, other than you should I tell her that you
39:00
Speaker 2: want to sleep? What are I would?
39:02
Speaker 1: I'm just kidding. Just good, She fine as hell, she
39:13
Speaker 1: is fun. No, no, but you know what I'm talking about. You, well,
39:16
Speaker 1: do you know what I'm talking about?
39:17
Speaker 6: I do know what you're talking about. And I think
39:19
Speaker 6: it depends on the person. I don't think we can
39:22
Speaker 6: we can paint the entire female gender as being aware
39:25
Speaker 6: or unawares. I think there've definitely seen some ladies in
39:27
Speaker 6: their time, you know, use the sexual attraction to their
39:31
Speaker 6: advantage and be like, oh, I don't know, we're just friends.
39:33
Speaker 2: We're not that they knew.
39:35
Speaker 6: But I've also seen plenty of women who were just
39:37
Speaker 6: like wait what because I just thought we were just vibing.
39:39
Speaker 2: I thought your friends were right.
39:41
Speaker 1: I think that when Harry met Sally is a really
39:43
Speaker 1: great articulation for this. It's like, if you're friends for
39:45
Speaker 1: a certain amount of time, and let's say you're a
39:48
Speaker 1: man and woman, and you're both heterosexual and and let's
39:51
Speaker 1: say single at the time, I just I just have
39:53
Speaker 1: trouble believing that one one of those parties isn't attracted
39:56
Speaker 1: to the other.
39:58
Speaker 2: I agree with you one hundred percent. Feel like somebody
40:01
Speaker 2: is always attracted. Look, I don't. I don't. I can't.
40:06
Speaker 2: I can't sit here and say I have, you know,
40:08
Speaker 2: other than people colleagues that I work with. I can't
40:11
Speaker 2: have like a girlfriend that I call up and I'm like, yeah,
40:14
Speaker 2: all right, of.
40:14
Speaker 1: Course, not notinety more. Dude, you're married and it is inappropriate.
40:17
Speaker 1: But I'm saying, back in the day.
40:19
Speaker 2: Now, I wanted to sleep with them. Yeah, that's honest.
40:23
Speaker 2: That's the honest to goodness joy. Back in the day,
40:26
Speaker 2: if I.
40:26
Speaker 1: Had a long way around the block to get to that.
40:29
Speaker 2: But back in the day, if I had a friend
40:30
Speaker 2: and she was a.
40:34
Speaker 1: Girl, yeah, and she was attractive and you were attracted
40:38
Speaker 1: to her, she.
40:39
Speaker 2: Didn't necessarily even have to be the hottest person on
40:42
Speaker 2: the plane. Listen, friends, it's not about it's not about looks.
40:45
Speaker 2: It's also about how the person you know makes you laugh,
40:48
Speaker 2: and how they make you feel and stuff like that.
40:50
Speaker 2: All of that goes into what's attractive to you, you
40:54
Speaker 2: know what I mean? Like Zach, you aren't the most
40:58
Speaker 2: beautiful man on the planet. But if you were a.
41:00
Speaker 1: Female, Dan, what are you talking about? Would have got married?
41:04
Speaker 2: You would have got married.
41:05
Speaker 1: Yeah. I have the weirdest boner right now. Oh, should
41:12
Speaker 1: we get back to the episode. Should probably take.
41:13
Speaker 2: A break, Let's go do it.
41:15
Speaker 1: Let's take a break. I gotta cool down, I gotta
41:16
Speaker 1: tell a cold shower. It's been brought to my attention
41:29
Speaker 1: that when we come back from break, Dan, that you've
41:31
Speaker 1: chosen the section of the song that's the old one
41:34
Speaker 1: without the MM and but before you correct it. I've
41:39
Speaker 1: had people tell me on Instagram they like it because
41:42
Speaker 1: they know it's not going to be there, and they
41:43
Speaker 1: do them themselves to the song.
41:46
Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, So you.
41:48
Speaker 1: Might be saying you did that on purpose. Dan.
41:50
Speaker 2: I find it amazing that the it is so important
41:55
Speaker 2: to everyone. I get it, I get it, I get it.
41:59
Speaker 2: It's amazing to me that without it, some of you
42:03
Speaker 2: get very upset.
42:04
Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I like our fan our fan participation. I
42:08
Speaker 1: gotta tell you, they weigh in nationally passionately. Yeah, you
42:12
Speaker 1: know they were talking about today. Someone asked me, when
42:15
Speaker 1: are you guys gonna do merch? And I said, oh,
42:17
Speaker 1: it's funny. We were just kind of shooting the shit
42:18
Speaker 1: about that. What do you guys want? And I had
42:21
Speaker 1: like dozens and dozens of people saying they want Donald
42:24
Speaker 1: on a beach towel. They want I would love to
42:27
Speaker 1: have you on a beach towel.
42:29
Speaker 2: It's that episode, people, it is that episode.
42:32
Speaker 1: I would well, no, no, I don't mean stop no,
42:35
Speaker 1: I moved on from the homerotesism. I'm just saying, your
42:38
Speaker 1: cute face on a beach towel would be delightful. Or
42:40
Speaker 1: a mug. I was thinking a mug. That's your face, right,
42:44
Speaker 1: and then when you pour hot water and it changes
42:46
Speaker 1: to my face.
42:47
Speaker 2: That's hilarious.
42:48
Speaker 1: Joelle, you like that, right, that's hilarious. That's probably gonna
42:53
Speaker 1: cost a lot of money.
42:55
Speaker 2: Yeah, that would you know?
42:56
Speaker 1: It's funny most most podcasts. I didn't realize from podcasts
42:59
Speaker 1: like merch was important, but I guess a lot of
43:01
Speaker 1: podcasts sell like mugs and T shirts. And then when
43:03
Speaker 1: they ask it, I know, but when they when I heard,
43:06
Speaker 1: asked us, what do you guys want to sell that?
43:07
Speaker 1: Like Donald and I were like, oh, mugs. The change
43:09
Speaker 1: color tells teky neckles is like the most elaborate shit.
43:13
Speaker 1: They were like, well, we were thinking mugs.
43:16
Speaker 2: We were thinking maybe pin, like a pin or something
43:18
Speaker 2: like that. How about like a button like that says
43:20
Speaker 2: fake doctor's real friends on it.
43:22
Speaker 1: Yeah, how about a button.
43:23
Speaker 2: I do like the idea of T shirts and stuff like, Yeah.
43:26
Speaker 1: I have a very fun I just have funny Ice
43:28
Speaker 1: was laughing about funny merch ideas. I guess it's a
43:31
Speaker 1: T shirt or a mug.
43:32
Speaker 2: Okay, I have a question, let's get back to the show.
43:34
Speaker 2: I have a question.
43:35
Speaker 1: Is it is it asking me to sing from Pippin?
43:37
Speaker 1: Because I'm prepared?
43:37
Speaker 2: I warmed, No, I was going to go into Pippen,
43:39
Speaker 2: but we can go into Pippin app.
43:41
Speaker 1: Everything has it sees hon go ahead?
43:43
Speaker 2: Oh god, I want to go.
43:45
Speaker 1: It was my audition song when I was a child.
43:48
Speaker 2: Okay, So, for those who don't know, Zach Brath is
43:52
Speaker 2: heavily into musical theater. He's so heavily into.
43:56
Speaker 1: Music, not really anymore, but go ahead.
43:58
Speaker 2: He's so heavy or he us so heavily into musical theater.
44:01
Speaker 2: When he was a kid, he went away to camp, Yeah,
44:04
Speaker 2: theater camp that was musical theater camp.
44:08
Speaker 1: Yeah called stage door Manner and my father, my father said,
44:11
Speaker 1: as I was packing for musical theater camp, he said, well, I,
44:17
Speaker 1: I guess you don't need to bring a mint.
44:25
Speaker 2: A baseball mit.
44:28
Speaker 1: I was like, no, Dad, but hand hand me over
44:30
Speaker 1: my my Ben nine makeup kit because we're gonna work
44:37
Speaker 1: on under eye. We're gonna work on how to do
44:41
Speaker 1: Southern freckles.
44:43
Speaker 2: So because of that, was this something that? Was this
44:45
Speaker 2: something that you wrote? Was this your joke that you wrote?
44:49
Speaker 1: No, but it's hilarious.
44:50
Speaker 2: I mean, it's a great joke.
44:51
Speaker 1: I wish I wrote it.
44:52
Speaker 2: My son. I was to see my nephew tonight and Pippin,
44:57
Speaker 2: who is he playing?
45:00
Speaker 1: It's a loon. It's almost delivery like it the Alma's
45:03
Speaker 1: delivery has a little bit of like, how dare you
45:05
Speaker 1: imply that my nephew is not the lead? She's like Pippin.
45:11
Speaker 2: Now Pippen in the original Broadway.
45:13
Speaker 1: You're not gonna know this, are you?
45:15
Speaker 2: Was played by Ben Vereen in my career.
45:17
Speaker 1: No, no, the very good, very good fuck up and
45:19
Speaker 1: thank you for asking. The original Pippen was played by
45:22
Speaker 1: Michael Weston's father, John Rubinstein.
45:25
Speaker 2: Wow.
45:26
Speaker 1: For those who don't know, Michael Weston played private dancer
45:29
Speaker 1: run Scrubs and he was in my film Garden Statium.
45:32
Speaker 1: He was in my film Wish I was here. He's
45:33
Speaker 1: a wonderful actor.
45:34
Speaker 2: He was also in the other movie you did with
45:37
Speaker 2: all those other actors, Casey Affleck and oh yeah.
45:40
Speaker 1: The Last Kiss. He was in the Last Kiss. Michael
45:42
Speaker 1: and I have done. We used to live together, a.
45:44
Speaker 2: Couple of movies. You've done like four movies together now, Yeah,
45:48
Speaker 2: Ben Veren. Best song in the show, Join us, leave
45:52
Speaker 2: your feels to flower, join us, leave yo cheese to so.
46:00
Speaker 1: Join us, Come and waste our auto too, dude ly
46:08
Speaker 1: do ELLUSI me. So it's a really it's a really
46:11
Speaker 1: great show. And it's about a guy looking for trying
46:15
Speaker 1: to figure out who he wants to be and his
46:18
Speaker 1: very seventies and very sexual and I think Bob Fosse
46:22
Speaker 1: choreographed it. And anyway, so when I was a kid
46:25
Speaker 1: auditioning for musicals at like musical theater camp. I would do.
46:29
Speaker 1: One of Pippin' songs was this corner of the sky.
46:31
Speaker 1: Everything has its season, everything has its time. Show me
46:35
Speaker 1: a reason and I'll show you a rhyme. Right, pretty song. Wait,
46:40
Speaker 1: let me get to the chorus for you don't pour us.
46:42
Speaker 1: Get to the chorus.
46:44
Speaker 7: Do you remember it?
46:45
Speaker 1: Hold on, shut up? Rivers belong with they can ramble,
46:48
Speaker 1: Eagles belong with eagles. Eagles eagles, Eagles belong with they
46:54
Speaker 1: can fly. I've got to be where my spirit can
46:58
Speaker 1: run free. Gotta find by corner of the guy.
47:05
Speaker 2: Damn big round up plug man?
47:07
Speaker 1: Can you do thunderous applause?
47:08
Speaker 4: There?
47:10
Speaker 1: So, yeah, I did go to theater camp. I loved it.
47:13
Speaker 1: It's actually what started my acting career. And uh, you
47:17
Speaker 1: know it was like you going to that fame school.
47:19
Speaker 2: How did you find out about theater camp? That's the question.
47:21
Speaker 1: Like I didn't want to go to you know, I
47:23
Speaker 1: was my dad was doing community theater and he's a lawyer,
47:25
Speaker 1: but his hobby was he was always in the plays
47:27
Speaker 1: and he was amazing. You know, you knew my dad.
47:29
Speaker 1: He was charming and funny and he was always always
47:32
Speaker 1: got the leads. So I would go as a little
47:34
Speaker 1: kid and you know, eight years old and watch my
47:35
Speaker 1: dad in the local play be the lead and make
47:37
Speaker 1: everybody laugh. And I was like, I told you this.
47:39
Speaker 1: I was like, I want to be this, this is
47:41
Speaker 1: a job, like I want to be a part of this.
47:43
Speaker 1: And then the normal camp. Again, normal camps had so
47:45
Speaker 1: much to do with like sports, it wasn't like exciting me.
47:48
Speaker 1: And my parents were like, you know, there are theater camps,
47:50
Speaker 1: and I was like, go on, and I went to
47:55
Speaker 1: one called Bravo first, and then that one closed down,
47:58
Speaker 1: and then I went to a stage or which is
48:00
Speaker 1: still alive and very very much alive. It's like the
48:02
Speaker 1: most popular one. At twelve eighteen, when I say to Elliott,
48:06
Speaker 1: I'm sorry, but you had your chance with me, I
48:09
Speaker 1: literally said out loud, oof, Like I told you. I've
48:12
Speaker 1: been writing down my my, my lols. I literally wrote
48:16
Speaker 1: down oof wow, Like that was so fucked up to
48:19
Speaker 1: say that.
48:21
Speaker 2: And not only was it fucked up, but it was
48:24
Speaker 2: just I mean, it's totally fucked up, but it's so
48:26
Speaker 2: below the belt, dude, it's.
48:28
Speaker 1: No who would say that. I mean, it's such a
48:30
Speaker 1: dicky thing to say.
48:31
Speaker 2: And even if she's not even if she's not jealous,
48:35
Speaker 2: you know what she turns out to be at the end.
48:38
Speaker 2: What a dick, dude, right, what a dick? Jd was
48:42
Speaker 2: such a dick for that. But it worked, It works.
48:46
Speaker 1: Fucked up thing is that it worked. But let's not
48:48
Speaker 1: get ahead of ourselves. Thirteen fifty two. Cox knows your
48:50
Speaker 1: name first time he ever knows it.
48:52
Speaker 2: GUESSI.
48:53
Speaker 1: Yeah, he calls you Turk. He goes, your name's Turk.
48:56
Speaker 2: Oh that's right, so right, right right, That's how he
48:59
Speaker 2: finds out I'm Turk. Your turk? Got it?
49:01
Speaker 1: Yeah? When you show up, when you show up.
49:03
Speaker 2: To the surgical consult? Do you remember this?
49:06
Speaker 1: Yeah?
49:06
Speaker 7: Do you?
49:07
Speaker 2: But do you remember it?
49:09
Speaker 1: I remember from what do you remember?
49:10
Speaker 2: How I couldn't get surgical consult right? And so I
49:12
Speaker 2: wrote the song did someone call for a surgical consult?
49:17
Speaker 2: And I did that for like twenty minutes before we
49:20
Speaker 2: shot this episode for this episode.
49:22
Speaker 1: Because there was a tongue twister surgical consult.
49:25
Speaker 2: Not only that, I just couldn't put together surgical consulet.
49:29
Speaker 2: Like I walked in the room a couple of times
49:31
Speaker 2: and was like, did somebody call for a And I
49:33
Speaker 2: didn't know what a surgical consult was. And so because
49:36
Speaker 2: I didn't know what a surgical consult was, I couldn't
49:38
Speaker 2: fath I couldn't put it together in my brain.
49:40
Speaker 1: So did someone explain to you what a surgical consult was? No?
49:43
Speaker 2: I just sang a song.
49:44
Speaker 1: See that's interesting. See Donald has uh, your way of
49:49
Speaker 1: learning would be like, I know what I'm gona do.
49:50
Speaker 1: I'm gonna turn that fucking into a song, and that's
49:52
Speaker 1: how you learned it.
49:53
Speaker 2: And that's what I did. Yeah, I remember, I remember
49:59
Speaker 2: the That was one of the first times in the
50:01
Speaker 2: show where I was like, I'm costing the crew all
50:04
Speaker 2: of this time right now because I can't get this
50:06
Speaker 2: line right. I went home and I know I studied
50:09
Speaker 2: this shit, but for some reason, this word sounds foreign
50:14
Speaker 2: to me. And so because it sounds foreign to me,
50:16
Speaker 2: I can't deliver it the way I want to deliver it.
50:19
Speaker 2: And so I sang it over and over and over again.
50:22
Speaker 2: And when it finally felt like I could throw it
50:25
Speaker 2: away and it wasn't something that I had to think about,
50:29
Speaker 2: no problem.
50:29
Speaker 7: Bam, that's good.
50:30
Speaker 1: That's a good trick. It's always good to have those
50:33
Speaker 1: little devices.
50:35
Speaker 2: Yeah, well, we need them.
50:37
Speaker 1: I have a device that I learned where if you're
50:39
Speaker 1: trying to remember someone's name, you picture someone that you
50:43
Speaker 1: know from your past who has that name in their
50:47
Speaker 1: exact position, and then you can you'll always remember the
50:53
Speaker 1: person's name.
50:54
Speaker 2: Does that work?
50:55
Speaker 1: Yes, Okay, tell you try it. If you're listening, you
51:00
Speaker 1: really got I gotta remember this guy's name. I want
51:02
Speaker 1: you to pick someone from your history, and let's say
51:05
Speaker 1: they're a barista at the Starbucks. You go through whatever,
51:08
Speaker 1: and you and you're like, oh my god, I know
51:09
Speaker 1: this guy. I gotta remember. Well, they have named tax
51:11
Speaker 1: doesn't count, but you know what I mean, someone who
51:12
Speaker 1: you're like, I really want to remember this person's name.
51:14
Speaker 1: Picture someone from your past, the weird and more eccentric,
51:17
Speaker 1: the better, in that exact spot, and then it'll lock
51:22
Speaker 1: in and he'll always remember their name.
51:25
Speaker 2: I have played myself the way JD played hisself when
51:28
Speaker 2: he was like when he went home that night and
51:31
Speaker 2: he put roses on the bed.
51:33
Speaker 1: You've done that, Oh dude.
51:35
Speaker 2: I remember one time. I'm not even sure if it
51:37
Speaker 2: was a definite thing, but this young lady who I
51:40
Speaker 2: was dating at the time, and we were pretty young,
51:45
Speaker 2: so you know, it took it wasn't like we were
51:49
Speaker 2: having sex, so we were leading up to that. I
51:54
Speaker 2: she was like, yeah, maybe I'll come over, and I
51:56
Speaker 2: was like, I'm gonna be romantic, okay. And I went
52:00
Speaker 2: to Pizza Hut because that's what I had money for,
52:05
Speaker 2: and I got two personal pan pizzas and I put
52:09
Speaker 2: it on the floor in my room at my mom's house.
52:13
Speaker 2: And I took the blanket off of my bed and
52:16
Speaker 2: put it on the floor. First of all, I cleaned
52:17
Speaker 2: my room.
52:18
Speaker 3: Right.
52:18
Speaker 2: Also, how old are you put the blanket? I don't
52:21
Speaker 2: want to talk about age ages.
52:22
Speaker 1: And it'd be funny if you were like, what do
52:24
Speaker 1: you mean thirty five?
52:25
Speaker 2: Right? Ages is important at this point. And I put
52:28
Speaker 2: a blanket down. I got a brick to hold the
52:33
Speaker 2: blanket down in the middle of the blanket and put
52:36
Speaker 2: candles on the brick, lit the candles, set up the
52:41
Speaker 2: pizzas with the soft drinks, and waited for her to
52:46
Speaker 2: come over. And she didn't come Oh. And when I
52:51
Speaker 2: look back, I remember calling her and be like, well,
52:53
Speaker 2: you didn't come over, and she was like, I told you, well,
52:55
Speaker 2: maybe i'd come over. And I took the maybe as
53:00
Speaker 2: she's coming over.
53:01
Speaker 1: Wow, And I and that young woman's name Rihanna.
53:06
Speaker 2: Right, And that young woman's name was Beyonce Knowles.
53:11
Speaker 1: I I once really liked a girl when I was
53:14
Speaker 1: living in Manhattan out of college, and I, I'm not
53:18
Speaker 1: much of a cook, but I asked my stepfather, who's
53:20
Speaker 1: a really good cook, for a recipe to impress this girl.
53:23
Speaker 1: And so I spent the whole day. This was first
53:25
Speaker 1: date I knew her. Though she was I knew her,
53:28
Speaker 1: but this was the first time I was asking around
53:30
Speaker 1: and we were going to meet at my apartment and
53:32
Speaker 1: then I was going to take her to circ to
53:33
Speaker 1: so let So I spent money on like circus light tickets.
53:36
Speaker 1: I didn't have, you know, I was a PA. I
53:38
Speaker 1: didn't have much money, and I spent the whole day.
53:41
Speaker 1: I was so excited. She came over and she was
53:43
Speaker 1: so upset, pissed off about her day and like rambling
53:46
Speaker 1: about her day and yeah, this happened, and my boss
53:48
Speaker 1: was dead. She barely even like acknowledged the fact that
53:51
Speaker 1: I had spent this entire day making her dinner.
53:54
Speaker 2: Did she well, did you say I spent the entire
53:56
Speaker 2: day making No.
53:57
Speaker 1: I didn't want to be like I didn't want to
53:58
Speaker 1: rub it in, but I was like, I made you
54:00
Speaker 1: dinner like this happens all the time when you're dating me,
54:02
Speaker 1: and uh, and didn't eat any of it. I think
54:07
Speaker 1: she nibbled on it and was unimpressed. And I never
54:10
Speaker 1: really made anyone food again.
54:12
Speaker 2: Did you take her to sark to silet?
54:14
Speaker 1: Yeah I did I but yeah, I took it a
54:16
Speaker 1: shirk to silt. And then I think, you know, she
54:18
Speaker 1: had a good time, and I think I got friend.
54:20
Speaker 2: Zoned and then you got friend zoned.
54:23
Speaker 1: Well, so there you go. And since then I never
54:25
Speaker 1: made anyone dinner again.
54:26
Speaker 2: I hear that. Let's take a break.
54:28
Speaker 1: We'll be right back after these fine words.
54:38
Speaker 6: Guys, we're gonna let the fan in now.
54:40
Speaker 2: Oh, what's up, guds?
54:43
Speaker 1: Welcome actors, real friends. Let's Joelle do a formal introduction.
54:49
Speaker 1: Now that we're all here, we have our manual.
54:53
Speaker 2: Oh, I stole it. I stole it.
54:58
Speaker 6: He works at a children's hospitals.
55:02
Speaker 1: That's so amazing, man. Thank you for being I imagine
55:06
Speaker 1: you're you're out there being a frontline worker as we speak.
55:10
Speaker 8: Yes, yes, yes, And you know I wouldn't I'd be
55:14
Speaker 8: remiss if I had an introduced my roommate who also
55:17
Speaker 8: works in the hospital.
55:18
Speaker 7: He's an administrator the be A Hospital system.
55:20
Speaker 1: Wow, you guys are the perfect guest for our for
55:24
Speaker 1: the show. Wow, Joel, we're good producing. You got some
55:26
Speaker 1: solid guests.
55:28
Speaker 7: Joel's best.
55:29
Speaker 1: So what's it been like these days at a children's hospital,
55:32
Speaker 1: Because you know, we hear out in the world that
55:35
Speaker 1: children aren't getting affected as much, but then of course
55:38
Speaker 1: now we're hearing in New York some are and what's
55:41
Speaker 1: it what's it like these days?
55:43
Speaker 2: Yeah, So it's funny.
55:44
Speaker 8: So during the height of the COVID epidemic, you know,
55:47
Speaker 8: we weren't getting as many kids, at least not as much.
55:50
Speaker 8: Like so I work in the ic you in the hospital,
55:52
Speaker 8: so we weren't getting as much in the ICU. But
55:55
Speaker 8: since but now lately we've been getting you know what
55:58
Speaker 8: they've been talking about then you used the whole systemic
56:00
Speaker 8: inflammatory response like.
56:01
Speaker 7: Post COVID type of thing.
56:03
Speaker 8: So that's like very interesting to see because you know,
56:04
Speaker 8: we weren't seeing a lot and people were saying kids
56:06
Speaker 8: weren't getting affected as much, and now we're seeing them
56:08
Speaker 8: come in with all these different symptoms and so you know,
56:12
Speaker 8: it's it's a learning experience, but we have seen something similar.
56:15
Speaker 8: It's similar to like the kawas hockey disease that they're
56:18
Speaker 8: talking about. We have an idea of how to like
56:20
Speaker 8: treat it, but it's just interesting to see that it's
56:23
Speaker 8: popping up now.
56:24
Speaker 2: You know, our kids making full I know there are
56:26
Speaker 2: some that that didn't make recoveries, but our kids making
56:28
Speaker 2: full recoveries. Like you hear about patients that get COVID
56:33
Speaker 2: and you know their bodies have been pretty much destroyed
56:38
Speaker 2: by the virus. Yeah, what about what the children? Are
56:41
Speaker 2: the children making the recovery with this new kawiski yeah thing. Yeah.
56:47
Speaker 8: So thankfully, most of the patients that I've taken care
56:50
Speaker 8: of personally have recovered. I mean, you know, there are
56:53
Speaker 8: some cases that I'm sure have not gone our way,
56:56
Speaker 8: but for the most part, from what I've been seeing personally, like,
56:58
Speaker 8: our patients have been recovering and a lot of them
57:00
Speaker 8: have been doing pretty well.
57:01
Speaker 1: When you went to nursing school, and you obviously could
57:03
Speaker 1: choose any area you chose, what I would imagine is
57:07
Speaker 1: the most hardcore thing being an ICU nurse at a
57:10
Speaker 1: pediatric hospital. I mean, you must have days where you're
57:14
Speaker 1: I mean you must have days where you're just emotionally crushed.
57:18
Speaker 8: So I chose pediatrics because when I was younger, I
57:21
Speaker 8: was you know, hospitalized for a bit, and so I remember, like,
57:25
Speaker 8: you know, all the nurses that took care of me,
57:27
Speaker 8: and so when I became a nurse, I kind of
57:29
Speaker 8: wanted to give back and take care of those patients.
57:32
Speaker 8: And it is very, you know, emotionally heavy sometimes, but
57:36
Speaker 8: you know, I work with such amazing people and you
57:39
Speaker 8: could always rely on that. And then I got right here,
57:41
Speaker 8: who's in a health field, so we could aways talk
57:43
Speaker 8: to him, and I got and I just let I
57:46
Speaker 8: have a good support network of people that I could
57:48
Speaker 8: always talk to and rely on if.
57:49
Speaker 7: I'm feeling down. And you know, thankfully we have more
57:53
Speaker 7: good days than bad days, and so you kind of
57:55
Speaker 7: rely on those to kind of get you through.
57:57
Speaker 2: Do you feel like the bad days are behind you
57:59
Speaker 2: right now? As far as far as what we're dealing with,
58:03
Speaker 2: I thought so. But with this new you know, Kawasaki thing,
58:06
Speaker 2: we're definitely seeing more paince that's like, you know, I
58:10
Speaker 2: see you. We're having more of those kind of patients
58:13
Speaker 2: in there, but thankfully a lot of them are doing good.
58:14
Speaker 7: So I remain hopeful still so well.
58:17
Speaker 1: I mean, I got to tell you I've spent some
58:19
Speaker 1: time in ICUs because I had a very sick sister
58:21
Speaker 1: and a very sick father. And you know when these
58:24
Speaker 1: icy U nurses, they're they're like superheroes. When you when
58:27
Speaker 1: you when you have someone who's just so responsive and
58:30
Speaker 1: so on it, you want to hug them because you know,
58:33
Speaker 1: by the time you're in an ICU, you know things
58:35
Speaker 1: are pretty dire. And yeah, and so I'm virtually hugging
58:39
Speaker 1: you right now. You're getting atual COVID proof hug.
58:43
Speaker 2: I'm doing it. It looks like I'm saying, what conda?
58:48
Speaker 2: That is a hug? That is a hug? What Conda? Forever?
58:54
Speaker 2: And a hug?
58:56
Speaker 1: Oh God? All right, do you guys have a question
58:59
Speaker 1: for U?
59:00
Speaker 2: For us?
59:01
Speaker 1: That's why we're here to do to answer any conditions.
59:04
Speaker 1: He's got he's got a book. You know, we have
59:06
Speaker 1: some people, we have some people, We have some people
59:09
Speaker 1: come on em Manuel and we asked him give a
59:11
Speaker 1: question the whole point of coming on the show. And
59:12
Speaker 1: they're like, what what now?
59:14
Speaker 2: Question now?
59:15
Speaker 1: A Manuel pulled out like a Manuel pulled out, a
59:17
Speaker 1: Manuel pulled out a binder, We.
59:23
Speaker 2: Go ahead, all right.
59:24
Speaker 8: So I know you guys had talked about why you
59:26
Speaker 8: guys are doing the show, bringing yourselves into the character
59:29
Speaker 8: and making it a little bit easier to play. But
59:31
Speaker 8: one thing I wanted to is there anything about the
59:33
Speaker 8: character that you played that you brought into your own
59:35
Speaker 8: personal lives?
59:37
Speaker 2: Is there anything about Turk that I brought into my
59:40
Speaker 2: own personal life?
59:44
Speaker 3: Ah?
59:46
Speaker 2: Yeah, I bought j D.
59:51
Speaker 7: That's the best answer, actually, But.
59:54
Speaker 1: I brought out like think of like when you're adjusting
59:56
Speaker 1: a picture and you can crank the saturation.
59:59
Speaker 7: Yeah.
1:00:00
Speaker 1: I brought out Donald's feminine side. You did that, You
1:00:03
Speaker 1: did because when I first met Donald, he had a
1:00:07
Speaker 1: lot of this love of musicals and being silly and
1:00:09
Speaker 1: shit inside of him. But he was his front was
1:00:12
Speaker 1: like yo, yo, yo, let's go play basketball. And now
1:00:15
Speaker 1: look at me, he's fucking singing Pippin left and right.
1:00:21
Speaker 2: You know, I went to school with a bunch of
1:00:23
Speaker 2: theater kids and stuff like that, and I remember being like, oh, suckers,
1:00:26
Speaker 2: a bunch of theater kids, right, And now I look
1:00:29
Speaker 2: back at it and I'm like, I wish I was
1:00:31
Speaker 2: a theater They used to sing all of these songs
1:00:34
Speaker 2: and stuff like that, and I wanted to sing the songs.
1:00:37
Speaker 2: But you know, I was a sucker. I was just
1:00:40
Speaker 2: a sucker. And now I look at it and I'm like, yeah,
1:00:43
Speaker 2: you know, yeah, so there is that. There is that
1:00:47
Speaker 2: a lot of the things that JD and Turk did
1:00:51
Speaker 2: as best friends opened me up to be way more
1:00:54
Speaker 2: comfortable around men than I was before. Yeah, and not
1:01:02
Speaker 2: to say that I wasn't comfortable around men, but you know,
1:01:06
Speaker 2: it's different. It's way different.
1:01:08
Speaker 1: Yeah, you know what I mean, You're more comfortable just
1:01:11
Speaker 1: being whoever.
1:01:13
Speaker 2: I mean.
1:01:13
Speaker 1: I mean, obviously correct me if I'm wrong, but what
1:01:15
Speaker 1: you're saying is you're more comfortable just being whoever you are.
1:01:17
Speaker 1: I think as young as young men, we have to
1:01:20
Speaker 1: put it up. We always put up all these uh
1:01:23
Speaker 1: you know, obviously I can't speak for the for the
1:01:25
Speaker 1: women's experience, but as a young man, you feel like
1:01:27
Speaker 1: you have to put up all these fronts like I'm
1:01:29
Speaker 1: tough and I'm straight and and uh and anything you
1:01:32
Speaker 1: did that was lightly slightly effeminate, you know, high school kids,
1:01:34
Speaker 1: middle school kids were like, oh, you're so fucking gay
1:01:36
Speaker 1: and all this shit. And I think what what I
1:01:39
Speaker 1: felt with with with scrubs and uh brought out in me.
1:01:43
Speaker 1: And I think Donald was like, all right, I'm just
1:01:45
Speaker 1: gonna be like whoever I am and be that.
1:01:47
Speaker 7: Yeah.
1:01:48
Speaker 2: I know I and I knew that it was an
1:01:52
Speaker 2: issue for other people when I made a comment when
1:01:55
Speaker 2: playing basketball. I made a comment like, you know, like
1:01:59
Speaker 2: I said some and silly, like my nipples are hard.
1:02:01
Speaker 2: And the dude that I was playing basketball with was like, yo, man,
1:02:04
Speaker 2: come on, man, man, what's going on with that? And
1:02:10
Speaker 2: I was like, oh, you have you you're not comfortable.
1:02:13
Speaker 1: You have your own issues.
1:02:14
Speaker 2: And then you're like, it's not my issue, that's your issue.
1:02:18
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's a good answer. Don I don't know
1:02:20
Speaker 1: if I had top Donald's answer, but I will say,
1:02:21
Speaker 1: and this is not just because you're a hero. I
1:02:24
Speaker 1: see you, nurse. I think I brought a full on
1:02:27
Speaker 1: respect for what even even though we were faking it,
1:02:32
Speaker 1: what it's like to work in this profession, and such
1:02:35
Speaker 1: a respect for people who work in the medical field
1:02:39
Speaker 1: and how hard it is. And Donald and I had
1:02:40
Speaker 1: the luxury of pretending to be doctors and getting the
1:02:45
Speaker 1: fun of pretending to save lives and pretending to come
1:02:49
Speaker 1: to the rescue, and now you know, as a younger
1:02:53
Speaker 1: man when we were doing the show, I didn't have
1:02:54
Speaker 1: that many experiences. But then after living many more years
1:02:58
Speaker 1: and had more life experiences where I was just pleading
1:03:01
Speaker 1: with medical professionals to save important lives. To me, I
1:03:05
Speaker 1: think I had so much more respect and especially now
1:03:09
Speaker 1: with this COVID insanity and and people fighting back against
1:03:12
Speaker 1: medical professionals. I don't know if you saw that amazing
1:03:14
Speaker 1: shot of the nurse standing in the in the in
1:03:16
Speaker 1: the crosswalk when when there was like an anti COVID
1:03:20
Speaker 1: lock up protest, it reminded me of It reminded me
1:03:23
Speaker 1: of the of the guy standing in front of the
1:03:26
Speaker 1: the tank. Yeah, and I just thought, I don't know,
1:03:29
Speaker 1: I have so much respect and love for for nurses
1:03:32
Speaker 1: and doctors and EMTs and paramis. When I was a kid,
1:03:35
Speaker 1: I wanted to be a paramedic. I thought there's nothing
1:03:37
Speaker 1: more badass about flying down the street in an ambulance
1:03:40
Speaker 1: to come to.
1:03:41
Speaker 2: The I agree with that too. I take my health
1:03:45
Speaker 2: way more serious now, you know what I mean. Before
1:03:48
Speaker 2: I was very afraid to go to the hospital. There
1:03:51
Speaker 2: was something scary about going to the hospital, especially as
1:03:56
Speaker 2: an African American male. It seems like, you know, yeah,
1:03:59
Speaker 2: a lot of my relatives and everything didn't go to
1:04:03
Speaker 2: the hospital until it was the last resort. It's the
1:04:07
Speaker 2: last thing that I've tried, every home remedy I could do.
1:04:14
Speaker 2: Disinfection isn't going away. I'm gonna fight it. I'm gonna
1:04:17
Speaker 2: fight it. I'm gonna fight it. Holy cow, I can't
1:04:20
Speaker 2: feel my leg. I think I should go to the
1:04:22
Speaker 2: hospital now, you know what I mean. I think while
1:04:25
Speaker 2: making scrubs, it became all right, I don't need to
1:04:28
Speaker 2: be afraid of because it's not They're not gonna kill
1:04:33
Speaker 2: me if I go. Yeah, I might die if I
1:04:37
Speaker 2: don't go, though, so let me let me take care
1:04:41
Speaker 2: of what's going on with me as soon as it
1:04:44
Speaker 2: pops up. And then I became a hypochondriac. Now all
1:04:47
Speaker 2: of a sudden, I was at the hospital like every
1:04:49
Speaker 2: five sec. If I had a you know, if my
1:04:51
Speaker 2: nose was running, I was like going to the doctor
1:04:53
Speaker 2: real quick.
1:04:55
Speaker 1: Don'd know these things. He has the worst thing, He's
1:04:57
Speaker 1: that guy. I'd be like, dude, it's a zi it's
1:05:00
Speaker 1: a tumor.
1:05:01
Speaker 7: Right, may better sad?
1:05:04
Speaker 2: Sorry? Right?
1:05:04
Speaker 3: Yeah?
1:05:05
Speaker 2: Right?
1:05:05
Speaker 1: Do you guys have another question for the legendary Donald Faison.
1:05:08
Speaker 7: Yes, can they hear me? So, Doctor Cox was your
1:05:13
Speaker 7: mentor on the show. Do you guys have like a
1:05:15
Speaker 7: mentor in real life during your acting careers? Wow?
1:05:17
Speaker 1: Very good question.
1:05:19
Speaker 2: So many, whether they realized they were my mentors or not.
1:05:22
Speaker 2: I have so many mentors. Bill Lawrence has been a
1:05:25
Speaker 2: mentor to me. He taught me how to tell a joke.
1:05:28
Speaker 2: I feel like I might have always been funny, you know,
1:05:31
Speaker 2: but there's a process to telling a good joke, and
1:05:36
Speaker 2: when you stumble on words that are meaningful for the punchline,
1:05:41
Speaker 2: it makes it so the joke doesn't work. Uh. And
1:05:44
Speaker 2: so because of that, I've been very lucky to work
1:05:50
Speaker 2: with someone like Bill Lawrence, who really taught me the
1:05:54
Speaker 2: anatomy of a joke and how to tell a joke.
1:05:58
Speaker 2: He's one person, Denzel w Washington my whole life, whether
1:06:01
Speaker 2: he knows it or not. After working with him, and
1:06:03
Speaker 2: remember the Titans too, you know, he's always been a
1:06:08
Speaker 2: hero of mine and also a mentor. You know his
1:06:13
Speaker 2: if you listen to interviews with Denzel Washington, and you
1:06:17
Speaker 2: know he's just a very deep mind and a very
1:06:21
Speaker 2: very good actor. And so he's one of those people
1:06:23
Speaker 2: that I've always looked up to, and when I finally
1:06:26
Speaker 2: got to meet him, he's definitely a hero and a mentor.
1:06:29
Speaker 1: When you were on that movie, did he ever say
1:06:32
Speaker 1: any any He gave.
1:06:33
Speaker 2: One tip one time. Mostly he led by example. He
1:06:38
Speaker 2: you know, he's very hard worker, you know what I mean,
1:06:40
Speaker 2: and comes to work prepared and to get you prepared,
1:06:44
Speaker 2: he'll run lines with you over and over and over
1:06:47
Speaker 2: and over again, right so that when the camera rolls,
1:06:51
Speaker 2: you're ready to play. But he gave me one bit
1:06:53
Speaker 2: of advice because we were as a bunch of young men,
1:06:56
Speaker 2: were all in our early twenties, and we're messing around
1:07:00
Speaker 2: and where you know, it's a movie about football players,
1:07:02
Speaker 2: and we're doing you know, we're giving each other elbows
1:07:05
Speaker 2: and you know, uh, pretending that we're punching each other
1:07:08
Speaker 2: in the face and everything like that because we're all
1:07:10
Speaker 2: young men. And he was like, you know, I did
1:07:11
Speaker 2: this movie Glory, and I was like, go on, and
1:07:17
Speaker 2: he was like, there was somebody in the cast who
1:07:19
Speaker 2: used to do what you guys are doing right now.
1:07:21
Speaker 2: And I remember him looking at me because I was
1:07:23
Speaker 2: very excessive about you know, one, I played around way
1:07:27
Speaker 2: too much. Still to this day. I play around way
1:07:29
Speaker 2: too much when working. And he was like, and this
1:07:31
Speaker 2: dude would play around and he would pretend to punch
1:07:34
Speaker 2: people in the face and act like he was gonna
1:07:36
Speaker 2: you know, and he would be joking. And one day
1:07:39
Speaker 2: he slipped and hit an extra in the face, somebody
1:07:43
Speaker 2: who was you know, been around the set and everything
1:07:45
Speaker 2: like that, and laughed it off, and he punched this
1:07:48
Speaker 2: guy in the face accidentally, but still punch this guy
1:07:53
Speaker 2: in the face, and the guy started crying and taking
1:07:58
Speaker 2: off his you know, jazz because he knew I'm about
1:08:02
Speaker 2: to kick this man's ass and get fired. This is
1:08:06
Speaker 2: the end of me ever being in this movie. And
1:08:08
Speaker 2: I've been here for a while and I like these people.
1:08:11
Speaker 2: I'm about to kick this dude's ask though, because he
1:08:13
Speaker 2: punched me in the face. And the guy apologizes and apologize.
1:08:17
Speaker 2: It doesn't need to go there, brother, No please, no, no, no,
1:08:20
Speaker 2: let's not do this. Let's you know, and finally, you know,
1:08:23
Speaker 2: they calmed the guy down and it's all right, don't worry,
1:08:27
Speaker 2: let's work this out. But he was like, you know,
1:08:29
Speaker 2: you guys are playing around so damn much. Somebody's gonna
1:08:33
Speaker 2: catch a fence to this and get hurt, and you're
1:08:36
Speaker 2: not gonna be able to talk him back. So my
1:08:39
Speaker 2: advice to you all, as he's looking at me is
1:08:43
Speaker 2: to shut this shit down. Stop doing this. And I
1:08:46
Speaker 2: remember being like, you're absolutely right, because if I punched
1:08:50
Speaker 2: that dude in the face accidentally, he's not gonna he's
1:08:52
Speaker 2: not gonna care if it was an accident or not.
1:08:54
Speaker 2: He's gonna be upset and want to break me up.
1:08:57
Speaker 1: So that's amazing story. And I just love that Denzel
1:09:00
Speaker 1: was like, so I did this film glory? I would
1:09:08
Speaker 1: say for me, I mean can't. The first answer is
1:09:11
Speaker 1: obviously Bill Bill Lawrence, who created the show. He taught
1:09:15
Speaker 1: me so much about acting and directing and how to
1:09:20
Speaker 1: the business. You know, Bill's some people are good writers,
1:09:23
Speaker 1: but they're not savvy about the business and how to
1:09:25
Speaker 1: navigate the business. And Bill taught Donald and I both
1:09:27
Speaker 1: a lot about how to navigate Hollywood and how to
1:09:30
Speaker 1: navigate the industry. And you're never on a job for
1:09:33
Speaker 1: nine years, so it was like it was like grad school.
1:09:36
Speaker 1: We learned so much over the course of nine years
1:09:39
Speaker 1: and a lot of and to this day, when I
1:09:41
Speaker 1: have a script that I'm writing, I gave it to Bill.
1:09:43
Speaker 1: When I have a first edit of a movie i'm directing,
1:09:45
Speaker 1: I show Bill and he comes in and gives me
1:09:48
Speaker 1: really tough notes and good notes. So Bill first and foremost,
1:09:53
Speaker 1: and then I guess my My version of the Denzel
1:09:55
Speaker 1: thing is, I just got to work with Robert de
1:09:57
Speaker 1: Niro in a film, and he's a He's a huge
1:10:00
Speaker 1: hero of mine. And just watching the way he worked
1:10:04
Speaker 1: and how humble he was and uh and how he
1:10:08
Speaker 1: I just just being on set with a legend like that,
1:10:11
Speaker 1: I felt like I was getting I was becoming a
1:10:14
Speaker 1: better actor. And there were a handful of little things
1:10:16
Speaker 1: he did that I like, Oh, I'm gonna try and
1:10:18
Speaker 1: do that next time, and and uh, and he's just
1:10:22
Speaker 1: a huge inspiration to me. I love I love that man. Donald.
1:10:26
Speaker 2: I'd give him another question if they're very, they're very nice,
1:10:30
Speaker 2: one question, very, they're very we're going long, though we're
1:10:34
Speaker 2: going out.
1:10:34
Speaker 1: Let's keep it short because the show people don't want
1:10:36
Speaker 1: to hear it an hour. And this might be a
1:10:38
Speaker 1: little Zach.
1:10:39
Speaker 8: It's like week three months into COVID, and uh, the
1:10:43
Speaker 8: George hare is going extra long, So I need to
1:10:46
Speaker 8: know your shampoo and conditioner.
1:10:48
Speaker 1: Well, here's the trick. I'm going to tell you something
1:10:50
Speaker 1: that some people. Some people are gonna think it's nasty,
1:10:52
Speaker 1: but don't wash your ship. Let it get dirty. What, baldy,
1:10:59
Speaker 1: you were not allowed to weigh in this conversation.
1:11:00
Speaker 2: I have I might not have a lot of hair,
1:11:03
Speaker 2: but I have hair number one number two. When he
1:11:06
Speaker 2: said ship, he meant don't wash your hair.
1:11:10
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, don't do you guys use a washcloth in
1:11:14
Speaker 1: the shower. We're having a debate on.
1:11:16
Speaker 7: The I used to use the wash flaw.
1:11:21
Speaker 2: Yeah, because you're black man. That's why the thing I grow,
1:11:24
Speaker 2: That's why white people don't use wash cloths. Apparently, speaking
1:11:29
Speaker 2: of that one thing we noticed we were just watching
1:11:31
Speaker 2: the show.
1:11:32
Speaker 7: Everyone got shoes on in the house.
1:11:34
Speaker 1: It's sleep with the shoes on.
1:11:36
Speaker 7: What's up?
1:11:36
Speaker 2: I never slept with my shoes on the show. Show.
1:11:40
Speaker 2: We just watched You make Out with and I had
1:11:43
Speaker 2: shoes on.
1:11:44
Speaker 7: No, not you?
1:11:45
Speaker 1: Oh me, Well, I think in the senior you're talking
1:11:49
Speaker 1: about this episode that that we watched. Yeah, well, Sarah show.
1:11:52
Speaker 1: If Sarah Chalk throws you to the bed and mounts you,
1:11:55
Speaker 1: you're not gonna be thinking about your sneakers. Bro, all right, No,
1:12:01
Speaker 1: my hair, I I don't wash a lot because I
1:12:04
Speaker 1: feel when I wash it, I don't like the way
1:12:06
Speaker 1: it looks. But when I let it have its natural juices,
1:12:10
Speaker 1: it has a nice.
1:12:12
Speaker 2: That's from coming to America. Dude, what would you put
1:12:15
Speaker 2: in your hair? Nothing? I just got juices and berries
1:12:20
Speaker 2: that ain't nothing but ultrap.
1:12:25
Speaker 1: All right, on that note, we're gonna go. Thank you
1:12:27
Speaker 1: guys so much. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.
1:12:32
Speaker 1: Our pleasure, our pleasure. Wait, lastly, like we gotta we
1:12:35
Speaker 1: gotta end this fucking thing. It's going so long, but
1:12:37
Speaker 1: I do listen, I'm gonna get in I know, Bro,
1:12:41
Speaker 1: I'm gonna get right into it. You think I was
1:12:43
Speaker 1: gonna miss your favorite topic.
1:12:44
Speaker 2: I'm just putting it out there now.
1:12:45
Speaker 1: This episode has a Phantom Menace diss in it, and
1:12:48
Speaker 1: I want to know you and Joel Mister and Missus
1:12:51
Speaker 1: Star Wars' thoughts on the Phantom Menace diss.
1:12:54
Speaker 2: I don't like that they that they dissed the Phantom Menace,
1:12:57
Speaker 2: even though at one point I was one who didn't.
1:13:03
Speaker 2: I didn't appreciate the Phantom Menace as much as I
1:13:09
Speaker 2: should have. Dave Felony. Yeah, the king that he is
1:13:16
Speaker 2: when it comes to Star Wars. Talks about on this
1:13:19
Speaker 2: new Mandalorian documentary series that they got going, which I've
1:13:24
Speaker 2: been watching.
1:13:24
Speaker 1: I'm watch that.
1:13:26
Speaker 2: It's really as a director, you're gonna love it.
1:13:28
Speaker 3: You know.
1:13:29
Speaker 1: I'm friends with not to name drop, but I'm friends
1:13:31
Speaker 1: with Deborah Chow who is one of the main directors
1:13:34
Speaker 1: of Mandalorian. Right he was she was telling me, She's like, Zach,
1:13:38
Speaker 1: you gotta come see how we shoot the show. It
1:13:40
Speaker 1: is unlike anything you've ever seen.
1:13:42
Speaker 2: Dude, if you go, please take me. Isn't she directing
1:13:47
Speaker 2: like all of these.
1:13:50
Speaker 1: She's directing every episode of Obi Wan.
1:13:53
Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. Can you just tell her you have
1:13:56
Speaker 2: a friend.
1:13:58
Speaker 1: She's the ultimate cool kid. I believe that they are
1:14:00
Speaker 1: doing the Obi WANs in the UK. I would live
1:14:03
Speaker 1: in the ut I will travel. But she was telling me,
1:14:08
Speaker 1: and I'm gonna watch the documentary because I've been hearing
1:14:10
Speaker 1: about it, that that Favreau took this technology that he
1:14:14
Speaker 1: developed for Jungle Book and the other films and kind
1:14:17
Speaker 1: of took it to the next level.
1:14:18
Speaker 2: It's amazing. Anyway, Baloney's talking about how in the Phantom Menace.
1:14:24
Speaker 2: That movie sets off everything, and I was like, yeah,
1:14:27
Speaker 2: of course it sets off everything. It's episode one. He's like,
1:14:30
Speaker 2: but in the in the documentary he's like, No, if
1:14:33
Speaker 2: Qui gon Jin would have won the fight against Darth Maul,
1:14:38
Speaker 2: Anakin Skywalker's path as a Jedi would have been way
1:14:45
Speaker 2: better than I then what he was given because Obi
1:14:51
Speaker 2: Wan didn't look. I know, it's crazy, last.
1:14:54
Speaker 1: I just wish the fans could see what I'm looking at.
1:14:56
Speaker 1: I'm totally zoned out already, and Joelle is furiously nodding
1:15:00
Speaker 1: like Donald is a preacher and she's in the choir.
1:15:03
Speaker 2: But look, obi Wan Kenobi was never a father figure
1:15:07
Speaker 2: for Anakin Skywalker, and that was something that he was
1:15:10
Speaker 2: missing his whole life, you know what I mean. He
1:15:13
Speaker 2: was born from the force, His mother wasn't with anyone.
1:15:16
Speaker 2: There was no male that raised him. And if Qui
1:15:21
Speaker 2: gon would have won that five, that father figure would
1:15:25
Speaker 2: have been in place and he would have grown to
1:15:28
Speaker 2: be a better Jedi. And not necessarily so, when Qui
1:15:33
Speaker 2: gon dies, that's Anakin's first failure, not his on purpose,
1:15:37
Speaker 2: but that's the first thing that fails in his life.
1:15:40
Speaker 2: Then he loses his mother, then he loses his wife
1:15:43
Speaker 2: and now he's freaking Darth Vader. And when I heard that,
1:15:47
Speaker 2: I had already had an appreciation for The Phantom Menace.
1:15:50
Speaker 2: But that makes the movie twenty times even better.
1:15:52
Speaker 1: Now, all right, Well, if if you happen to still
1:15:55
Speaker 1: be listening.
1:15:58
Speaker 2: None of this is gonna make the pop. No, I
1:16:00
Speaker 2: think it should.
1:16:01
Speaker 1: Because there's a lot of diehard fans just like you two,
1:16:03
Speaker 1: and they'll probably love this.
1:16:04
Speaker 2: But non star wars and sex, I like that star
1:16:09
Speaker 2: Wars and sex are married together in this episode.
1:16:12
Speaker 1: Okay, well, let's wrap this episode up by talking about
1:16:14
Speaker 1: the big Elliott JD kiss. It's very exciting. It was,
1:16:18
Speaker 1: I thought, I was. I thought it was romantic and
1:16:21
Speaker 1: well written and well shot and h and granted, very
1:16:25
Speaker 1: well performed.
1:16:26
Speaker 2: I thought, I thought, I think.
1:16:27
Speaker 1: I think right off the bat, you could see that
1:16:29
Speaker 1: Elliott and JD had chemistry and and it was it was.
1:16:33
Speaker 1: It was romantic and sweet and I liked it.
1:16:35
Speaker 2: Yeah, I was gonna say so far, this is one
1:16:37
Speaker 2: of my favorite episodes that we've watched, and it's not
1:16:40
Speaker 2: necessarily the funniest episode, but it kind of reminds me
1:16:43
Speaker 2: of a John Hughes movie. It kind of reminds me
1:16:47
Speaker 2: of you know, the movies that I grew up on,
1:16:51
Speaker 2: where the nerd in the movie is chasing after this
1:16:56
Speaker 2: young lady this whole time, right, and his best friend
1:17:02
Speaker 2: is right there next to him, this female best friend
1:17:06
Speaker 2: is right there next to him, and he doesn't realize
1:17:10
Speaker 2: that his best friend is the is the better is
1:17:13
Speaker 2: the better choice for him? And he's chasing after something
1:17:18
Speaker 2: that seems to be the right idea, and then at
1:17:22
Speaker 2: the end of it he realizes, oh, that was that
1:17:24
Speaker 2: wasn't that. She wasn't what I was looking for. And
1:17:28
Speaker 2: the best friend goes, I know because I am, Yeah.
1:17:31
Speaker 1: And I like that Sarah, and I like that Elliott
1:17:34
Speaker 1: made the move that I thought that was kind of
1:17:36
Speaker 1: cool that she was the one who stood up and
1:17:38
Speaker 1: like went for it, like she was the one who
1:17:40
Speaker 1: said no, because I did. I did.
1:17:42
Speaker 2: I was jealous.
1:17:43
Speaker 1: I was jealous. Yeah, And then you know it's it's
1:17:48
Speaker 1: it's meant to be a little bit of an edit.
1:17:49
Speaker 1: But she she looks like she pushes me down a
1:17:52
Speaker 1: whole hallway into the bed, right like you stumbled all
1:17:55
Speaker 1: the way I did, Like no, I did like a
1:17:57
Speaker 1: fucking matrix. Fucking shit down the She pushed me like
1:18:01
Speaker 1: I was Keanu down the whole hallway on that note. Sorry,
1:18:08
Speaker 1: cut that ship out, Hey, that was fun. Yeah, I
1:18:12
Speaker 1: wanted to tell our fans. Hey, you can email Scrubs
