- 0:00Speaker 1: I was gonna ask you if you think I can
- 0:02Speaker 1: pull off a headband. Yeah, but that's not a headband.
- 0:05Speaker 1: That's like a that's like a No, it's a thick Well,
- 0:09Speaker 1: it's not a rap. It's a I have long hair now,
- 0:12Speaker 1: and before you it's not like a do rag. What
- 0:15Speaker 1: are you laughing at? You? Press record? Yes, okay, it's
- 0:19Speaker 1: not a do rag. It's I didn't think it was
- 0:23Speaker 1: a do rag. It looks more like a like you know,
- 0:27Speaker 1: when young ladies go out but they haven't got their
- 0:30Speaker 1: hair dead right, they put something over it. Not necessarily
- 0:34Speaker 1: a do rag, but like a it's something that keeps
- 0:37Speaker 1: the hair back tight and everything like that. Yeah, or
- 0:40Speaker 1: what or what? Ladies are taking off their makeup and
- 0:42Speaker 1: they put this to keep their hair off their face. Yes,
- 0:44Speaker 1: it looks like that. I'm not saying now, I'm not
- 0:46Speaker 1: saying it's just made for ladies. I'm sure it was
- 0:48Speaker 1: made for working out right, But right now your face
- 0:51Speaker 1: has pulled so far back that you look like you
- 0:54Speaker 1: might have gotten a little botox in it. That's how
- 0:56Speaker 1: I'll be the first to admit that I'm not sure
- 0:58Speaker 1: if I can pull it off. You never ever buy
- 1:00Speaker 1: something and you're auditioning how you feel about it. No,
- 1:03Speaker 1: I don't have the luxury of doing that. I try
- 1:05Speaker 1: that shit on at the store, so I it's a headbar,
- 1:08Speaker 1: probably cost eight bucks. But I'm trying out to see
- 1:11Speaker 1: if I because I have long hair now, I've had
- 1:12Speaker 1: a haircut in a very long time. My hair is
- 1:14Speaker 1: always in my face. Here's a problem. I usually rocket
- 1:17Speaker 1: baseball hat. I'm trying to shake it up, but I
- 1:19Speaker 1: don't know that it's working, especially with all this judgment.
- 1:22Speaker 1: I don't know if it's gonna stay around. Here's a
- 1:24Speaker 1: problem with you know, getting things in the mail and
- 1:27Speaker 1: stuff like that, trying things on and you got to
- 1:30Speaker 1: send it back, and sending it back takes way more
- 1:34Speaker 1: effort than it would if you just went to the
- 1:36Speaker 1: store and you try it on at the store. You
- 1:38Speaker 1: got to go to the freaking post office or the
- 1:42Speaker 1: wherever you get wherever you send your stuff out. You
- 1:45Speaker 1: gotta get a box. It has to get weighed. There's
- 1:47Speaker 1: so many things that come. I would prefer if I
- 1:51Speaker 1: was gonna get something like that, do not have to
- 1:53Speaker 1: return it. But I would have stayed. I mean, you
- 1:57Speaker 1: like it, so it's all good. But if you didn't
- 2:00Speaker 1: like it. It would have been a pain in the
- 2:01Speaker 1: ass for you to take that. Well, I hear what
- 2:03Speaker 1: you're saying about more expensive things. I wouldn't have returned
- 2:05Speaker 1: this tiny piece of cloth. I would have handed it
- 2:08Speaker 1: off to my girlfriend and said, use this for your makeup.
- 2:11Speaker 1: I don't know, but I'm trying it out because listen,
- 2:15Speaker 1: I'm working out, as you know. Yeah, and my hair
- 2:18Speaker 1: is everywhere. My hair is very long, so I'm trying
- 2:20Speaker 1: to get it off off, you know, out out of
- 2:22Speaker 1: my way. It looks good. I'm not gonna look at mine.
- 2:27Speaker 1: I don't I feel. I feel you're not gonna lie
- 2:29Speaker 1: to you. It looks good. It makes you look so
- 2:31Speaker 1: much younger. I feel your judgment. So you're saying I
- 2:34Speaker 1: fear saying it's my skin back like botox. Yeah. Absolutely.
- 2:39Speaker 1: I feel like when said quarantine is over, you should
- 2:44Speaker 1: test that out on the masses and wear that out.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I don't think people. I think our next super friend
- 2:51Speaker 1: already said it's My girlfriend already said it's like it's
- 2:54Speaker 1: very broy, it's like a bro thing. I didn't like
- 2:57Speaker 1: that adjective. Oh well, you know, bro, did you know
- 3:01Speaker 1: that places like Hoboken they call it ho ho broken broken, No,
- 3:08Speaker 1: ho broken. Like there's a lot of bros and hope
- 3:12Speaker 1: there's always been a lot of bro It's like a
- 3:14Speaker 1: lot of college kid bro baseball head backwards. Say no,
- 3:17Speaker 1: not bro Boken. That's what they call it bro Boken.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Bro Boken. Oh yeah, because you you lived there, right
- 3:24Speaker 1: for like a half a year. I lived in Jersey
- 3:26Speaker 1: and all I heard was you're going to Broboken. Dude,
- 3:29Speaker 1: where would you go out? Um, when you were like
- 3:31Speaker 1: going for drinks with friends, would you go to Broboken? No?
- 3:34Speaker 1: I have a chilling downtown Jersey City, Jersey City. I've
- 3:38Speaker 1: never I've never had a drink in Jersey City in
- 3:39Speaker 1: my life. Well, Jersey City is gentrified. Apparently, Jersey City
- 3:42Speaker 1: used to be a very very different neighborhood than how
- 3:45Speaker 1: it is now, and gentrification happened, and it was a
- 3:49Speaker 1: bunch of warehouses also, so like if you lived in
- 3:52Speaker 1: Jersey City, you lived amongst warehouses and so now it's
- 3:55Speaker 1: like stuff anyway, So bro Boken, Yes, best sushi I've
- 4:00Speaker 1: ever had in Jersey Okay, the name of the place
- 4:04Speaker 1: is called Saku Saku, Yeah in Jersey City. Or where
- 4:09Speaker 1: was your or or I should say Hoboken And where
- 4:12Speaker 1: was your favorite bar in Jersey City? If people want
- 4:14Speaker 1: to go, do you remember the name I Saku out?
- 4:16Speaker 1: I would. I would go to saku like all the time.
- 4:19Speaker 1: My favorite Oh boy, sah, my favorite bar to go to. However,
- 4:24Speaker 1: in Jersey City was definitely I would. I would find
- 4:28Speaker 1: myself at Hudson Hall. Hudson Hall. All right, Well, if
- 4:31Speaker 1: you're in Jersey City, everybody support Jersey bars and go
- 4:35Speaker 1: to Hudson Hall and ask them where Donald Fhazon sat
- 4:39Speaker 1: and you can rub your cheeks on on the stool.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Well you could do that, That's that's fine, or you
- 4:45Speaker 1: could just go and have a drink. Tell them I
- 4:47Speaker 1: sent Sarah. Do is your audio work now? No? It
- 4:51Speaker 1: does not, It does not. Dan do you guys? I
- 4:55Speaker 1: want you to know that Dan had a private session
- 4:57Speaker 1: with Sarah this time to talk her through her audio.
- 5:00Speaker 1: And I don't know what it is, but she's just,
- 5:03Speaker 1: I think it's safe to say, not tech savvy. She
- 5:06Speaker 1: has to have some skill when it comes to tech.
- 5:08Speaker 1: She does voice over, she had a prior I know,
- 5:11Speaker 1: how about the Rick and Morty people don't have to
- 5:13Speaker 1: put up with this? Okay, okay, now I'm unplugging my headphones.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Do you hear me? Now? Okay? Good? Perfect? For the
- 5:20Speaker 1: love okay, Dan, Dan, Now you gotta record that. Can
- 5:24Speaker 1: you please edit this out? This is absolutely request as
- 5:34Speaker 1: a matter of fact, Box six seven eight stories about
- 5:37Speaker 1: show we made about a bunch of dots and nurses
- 5:42Speaker 1: and stories. Yeado around you here, yadoo around here. M good.
- 6:00Speaker 1: I want to do the five. Well, you know what,
- 6:02Speaker 1: you didn't You didn't deserve it. You don't deserve that.
- 6:05Speaker 1: We'll see how you perform on the show and if
- 6:07Speaker 1: you're if you're good enough, we'll let you do the
- 6:09Speaker 1: end one. Okay, is anyone else hearing opera? No? No,
- 6:16Speaker 1: something's playing music. This is incredible. Maybe maybe on the
- 6:23Speaker 1: iTunes app on your iPad um someone accidentally hit opera. Yeah,
- 6:28Speaker 1: but it's weird. That totally fixed it. That totally that
- 6:31Speaker 1: totally fixed it. But it was a Pepper Pig episode.
- 6:33Speaker 1: I didn't know they did opera and Pepper Pig. But oh,
- 6:37Speaker 1: oh my god, Pepper Pig has made a return in house.
- 6:44Speaker 1: I thought we were doing with Pepper Pig. Will you
- 6:48Speaker 1: tell people that don't have children, what the hell pepper
- 6:50Speaker 1: Pepper Pig is a British show cartoon about a pig
- 6:53Speaker 1: named Pepper, and it starts off high. I'm Pepper Pig.
- 6:57Speaker 1: This is my brother George, this is Mummy Pig, and
- 7:00Speaker 1: this is Daddy Pig. And each time she is this
- 7:03Speaker 1: is one of the pigs. Right, well, Susie Sheep's her
- 7:06Speaker 1: best friend. Every time they introduce one of the pigs,
- 7:09Speaker 1: they snort. So, I'm Pepper Pig, this is my brother George,
- 7:15Speaker 1: this is Mummy Pig, and this is Daddy Pig. It's okay.
- 7:19Speaker 1: And what are they going adventure? I'm assuming they go
- 7:21Speaker 1: on adventures and no, they go to school. It's like
- 7:24Speaker 1: a kids show for it's like to help with etiquette,
- 7:27Speaker 1: and you know, like how you're supposed to react to
- 7:31Speaker 1: helps you. It helps you to react like Pepper and
- 7:34Speaker 1: her family do to certain things. Well, because they're like proper,
- 7:38Speaker 1: they're good. They're like, no, it's not that well, I mean,
- 7:40Speaker 1: I guess you could say British folks are proper. That's
- 7:43Speaker 1: that's one way. Well, I just mean like they have
- 7:45Speaker 1: good etiquette, they have good manners, right, they definitely have
- 7:48Speaker 1: good like you can't jump in muddy puddles unless you
- 7:51Speaker 1: wear your boots. Okay, that's one of the main rephrases,
- 7:55Speaker 1: jumping up and down in muddy puddles, splish splash this
- 8:00Speaker 1: oh gosh um. But also it's incredibly funny, as most
- 8:05Speaker 1: British humor is. And like my fourteen year old nephew,
- 8:09Speaker 1: who I'll like never be as cool as him ever.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Um was watching Pepper Pig with with Frankie, who was
- 8:15Speaker 1: three at the time, and he was like, yeah, you
- 8:17Speaker 1: gotta get over here, you gotta come watch this. It
- 8:21Speaker 1: was like the most I was doubled over. I'm sending
- 8:24Speaker 1: you guys the link, and you're not going to believe
- 8:26Speaker 1: the humor in this. It's sigh, oh my god. The
- 8:31Speaker 1: one about where she can't whistle. She's like whistling like
- 8:34Speaker 1: this and hangs it right up on Susie sheet. I mean,
- 8:37Speaker 1: it's funny, gold, It's amazing. I'm sending it. Okay, So
- 8:40Speaker 1: Trader Joe's, Yes, Trader Joe's. They do not have a
- 8:44Speaker 1: Trader Joe's here, and people all of my friends drive
- 8:47Speaker 1: over the border to go get Trader Joe's and ring back.
- 8:49Speaker 1: But they also there's a company. There was like some
- 8:52Speaker 1: article about what I was telling everyone while you while
- 8:55Speaker 1: you were while you were doing this, there was like
- 8:56Speaker 1: there was a store that was like, fuck it, We're
- 8:58Speaker 1: just gonna make our own store. They went across the
- 9:01Speaker 1: border b and just sold the ship at their store. Right. Yes,
- 9:04Speaker 1: what was it called trader I can't remember a long
- 9:08Speaker 1: time ago, Trader Jane or something totally. Yeah, I know,
- 9:11Speaker 1: it's a it's a whole Uh, it's a whole thing. Tiny.
- 9:13Speaker 1: How long? How long what do you How long will
- 9:16Speaker 1: it take would it take you wherever you are to
- 9:17Speaker 1: get in the United States across the border? Oh it's
- 9:20Speaker 1: not long, Um, like two hours? Okay, so you're not
- 9:24Speaker 1: that far. Yeah? Yeah, I miss you two we were taught.
- 9:31Speaker 1: We've been talking about how we never see you and
- 9:33Speaker 1: we miss your face. I miss you guys too. We
- 9:36Speaker 1: got the band back together on zoom. No, look at this,
- 9:39Speaker 1: the band's back together on the band is back together.
- 9:42Speaker 1: We can't do our handshake virtually Donald and make Zack jealous.
- 9:46Speaker 1: He doesn't like I think jealous. I never you whenever
- 9:50Speaker 1: people do those like epically long handshakes. I I frowned,
- 9:54Speaker 1: but only because I I've never been involved with one
- 9:56Speaker 1: and I couldn't possibly remember it, so maybe I'm just jealous.
- 10:00Speaker 1: I have a very long one with Sarah Chuck, and
- 10:01Speaker 1: I have a very long one with Breck and Meyer.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Those are the only two handshakes that I have in
- 10:06Speaker 1: my life where I'm like, Jeesus is a long ass
- 10:08Speaker 1: and shake. Could you and Sarah get right back into
- 10:11Speaker 1: it without fault right now? You think, oh yeah, get
- 10:14Speaker 1: a girl running man, you get it. So we were
- 10:22Speaker 1: talking the last episode about your your epic. We were
- 10:26Speaker 1: talking about your your epic. I told you so dance
- 10:30Speaker 1: and how long it was. Oh my god, that's so funny.
- 10:34Speaker 1: People send me that at different moments in my life
- 10:37Speaker 1: over social media. That was one of those fun times
- 10:40Speaker 1: on Scrubs, Like what a unique job when you get
- 10:42Speaker 1: to do this where Bill was just like the line
- 10:44Speaker 1: in the script that I told you so, and he said,
- 10:46Speaker 1: instead of saying that, just make up like a song
- 10:49Speaker 1: and a dance, and I told you so a song
- 10:51Speaker 1: and dance, And it's just you know, it's not frequently
- 10:54Speaker 1: you have to do that on the job, so it's fun. Well,
- 10:58Speaker 1: do you remember getting down into the splits. Yeah, it's
- 11:01Speaker 1: hard to get out of them. I remember getting down
- 11:03Speaker 1: into it and being like and I'm stuck. I was
- 11:07Speaker 1: gonna say, there's some video I think on one of
- 11:09Speaker 1: the gagriels where people can watch on usually if you're
- 11:11Speaker 1: if you're interested, where Sarah just kept going and going
- 11:14Speaker 1: and going with her I told you so dance and
- 11:17Speaker 1: they only could put a short piece of it in
- 11:19Speaker 1: the show, but it like it went on for like
- 11:22Speaker 1: a full minute. I think, oh yeah, they didn't cut,
- 11:25Speaker 1: so I just kept going and then brought in some
- 11:28Speaker 1: French and German like I told you so in German,
- 11:32Speaker 1: which is yeah, it's him to kept kazakht because obviously,
- 11:34Speaker 1: after being tortured going to German school twice a week
- 11:37Speaker 1: for my entire upbringing, anytime I can, you know, feel
- 11:40Speaker 1: that it's actually it's only been useful in scrubs. That's
- 11:44Speaker 1: the only time I've ever used my German. Really Yeah,
- 11:46Speaker 1: but would go to international upfronts and stuff like that,
- 11:49Speaker 1: it was always he When you do press, you must
- 11:52Speaker 1: be very popular with the French and German press, I
- 11:54Speaker 1: would think. Because Sarah is fully trilingual, not anymore. I
- 11:59Speaker 1: was as a kid French. I still I can speak,
- 12:02Speaker 1: but after my grandmother died, we don't really speak German. Anymore.
- 12:05Speaker 1: So I've lost so much of it. But I but
- 12:08Speaker 1: French I still have because that was you know, all day,
- 12:12Speaker 1: everyday school was in French, like math, science, pe everything.
- 12:15Speaker 1: I'm so jealous of people. I wish multiple language. I
- 12:18Speaker 1: wish I could speak multiple languages. Man. Like I tried
- 12:21Speaker 1: to get the Rosetta stone, and I do failed at it,
- 12:26Speaker 1: you know what I mean? But I failed at it. No,
- 12:28Speaker 1: you didn't fail at it. You just didn't commit Donald.
- 12:31Speaker 1: That's that that that you know what, that's a better
- 12:33Speaker 1: way to look at it. That's a that's a that's
- 12:35Speaker 1: a better way to look at it. But you know,
- 12:37Speaker 1: I probably could have been grade at basketball if I
- 12:39Speaker 1: dedicated a lot of time to it. I mean, I'm
- 12:41Speaker 1: not saying I would have been like had natural super skills,
- 12:44Speaker 1: but I always think of it like like, you know,
- 12:47Speaker 1: it's what you dedicate time and focus and energy too.
- 12:50Speaker 1: You know what, You're absolutely right because I know a
- 12:52Speaker 1: lot of people who didn't play sports growing up and
- 12:55Speaker 1: put a lot of energy into sports when they got older,
- 12:59Speaker 1: meaning like tennis or golf or something like that, and
- 13:03Speaker 1: now they are very good at those sports, right I imagine.
- 13:08Speaker 1: I just I just want to clarify for yourself, for
- 13:10Speaker 1: your own psyche that you could probably be You could
- 13:12Speaker 1: easily become bilingual if you cared enough to if you
- 13:16Speaker 1: dedicated the hours you dedicate to animation to learn a language,
- 13:20Speaker 1: I probably, I probably would be fluent. What language would
- 13:23Speaker 1: you choose? What language? I could choose a language that's interesting.
- 13:27Speaker 1: I would choose Spanish because here we are living in
- 13:31Speaker 1: California and it feels like makes the most sense to
- 13:36Speaker 1: be able to speak with so many Spanish speakers that
- 13:38Speaker 1: are here. Yeah, Spanish is a good one. Uh wow.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Also probably a good one. Now, French is a good one.
- 13:48Speaker 1: But if I could choose, I would want to choose
- 13:50Speaker 1: something that's like out of the ordinary. Hebrew, I would
- 13:55Speaker 1: I would love to learn here. That would be great. Actually,
- 13:58Speaker 1: oh my god, you speaking Hebrew in Israel would be
- 14:00Speaker 1: one of the one of the most amazing things. Can
- 14:02Speaker 1: you just do it, please, We'll do it together. We'll
- 14:05Speaker 1: do it together. That would be great. Well, So, Sarah,
- 14:10Speaker 1: we were talking about sports stuff like that, and I
- 14:14Speaker 1: thought you wanted to say something. Go ahead, Oh no,
- 14:16Speaker 1: I just want to say two things. Um. One that yes, Donald,
- 14:21Speaker 1: pick a language and absolutely master it in terms of languages.
- 14:23Speaker 1: I kind of cheated because I was a kid, and
- 14:25Speaker 1: I feel as a kid, it's like it's just insert.
- 14:27Speaker 1: It's like a gift into your brain. It's so easy,
- 14:29Speaker 1: and as an adult it's so much harder. But but sports,
- 14:32Speaker 1: I'm I'm living proof that what Zach just said is
- 14:35Speaker 1: not true about you could play basketball and become really good.
- 14:39Speaker 1: I devoted so much time in my youth to basketball.
- 14:43Speaker 1: It's all I wanted, and I wanted it's so bad.
- 14:45Speaker 1: And I tried out for the basketball team in grade five,
- 14:47Speaker 1: grade six, grade seven, I was at our neighbor's hoop
- 14:50Speaker 1: in the pouring rain in Canada, practicing every day. And
- 14:54Speaker 1: then tryouts for grade seven basketball came and I was like,
- 14:56Speaker 1: this is my year. The basketball came from across the court,
- 14:59Speaker 1: hit me, we're in the face and started a series
- 15:02Speaker 1: of like crazy nosebleeds, but lasted for months until I
- 15:04Speaker 1: got my nose cautter eyes. But anyways, I kept trying
- 15:06Speaker 1: out for the team, and I kept practicing, and I'd
- 15:08Speaker 1: take like camps and I would I would try so hard.
- 15:12Speaker 1: And finally, in grade ten, and I was still the
- 15:15Speaker 1: shortest kid in the class, I grew and I was
- 15:16Speaker 1: like really like eighteen or something. So I finally made
- 15:21Speaker 1: the team. And Blake, who you both met, who's my
- 15:25Speaker 1: brother in law, was two years older and was my
- 15:27Speaker 1: coach and makes fun of me till this day. And
- 15:29Speaker 1: I made the team, but I spent the whole time
- 15:31Speaker 1: on the bench. But I was like, I didn't care
- 15:34Speaker 1: because I had a jersey and I was on the
- 15:35Speaker 1: team and I was getting on the bus with all
- 15:37Speaker 1: of my buddies to go to the game, and that's
- 15:39Speaker 1: all I wanted. And we had a really good team.
- 15:41Speaker 1: And they would put me on a center forward as
- 15:43Speaker 1: like a joke when we were beating the other team
- 15:44Speaker 1: like seventy to four, and I'd be like jumping, drying,
- 15:49Speaker 1: like and I was all effort, no skill, so trying
- 15:52Speaker 1: so hard and just yeah, well, you know what, you
- 15:57Speaker 1: made the team. So all of that practice it off,
- 16:01Speaker 1: and you got to run up and down a couple
- 16:03Speaker 1: of for a couple of minutes during every game that year.
- 16:06Speaker 1: I'm sure I do think a lot of people say,
- 16:09Speaker 1: and I'm including myself on this, like oh I suck
- 16:11Speaker 1: at that, Oh I suck at that. Oh I can't cook,
- 16:13Speaker 1: Oh I can't drive a motorcycle. Oh, I can't play basketball.
- 16:16Speaker 1: And it's like, no, well maybe you're not amazing at it,
- 16:19Speaker 1: but you never dedicated any fucking time to trying. Right, Well,
- 16:23Speaker 1: there is that, there is there is that. There is that.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Like I say all the time, I can't write, and
- 16:30Speaker 1: I'm gonna be honest with you, I can imagine so much,
- 16:34Speaker 1: and I can and I can and I can come
- 16:36Speaker 1: up with so many stories. You know what. I've never done. No,
- 16:39Speaker 1: you know what, I've never practiced trying to write it
- 16:42Speaker 1: into trying to write it down. I've always worked well,
- 16:47Speaker 1: I've got this idea and somebody's like, oh, you should
- 16:49Speaker 1: write it down, and I'm like, oh, no, I'm not
- 16:51Speaker 1: a writer. How would I ever know if I don't
- 16:54Speaker 1: sit down and I put the pen to pad. Of course,
- 16:57Speaker 1: just to just imagine something you love, like in your
- 16:59Speaker 1: case would be animation or basketball or golf. Imagine all
- 17:03Speaker 1: those hours you had been in a writing class, right,
- 17:06Speaker 1: you know you'd probably be a fucking amazing writer, right right,
- 17:10Speaker 1: or or or practicing not just sitting in a class. Well,
- 17:13Speaker 1: it's like you said, I would learn how to write.
- 17:16Speaker 1: That doesn't necessarily mean I'd be a great writer. I
- 17:19Speaker 1: might not be great at it. But I would be
- 17:21Speaker 1: able to understand structure, and I would understand you know
- 17:25Speaker 1: how to tell us you would still get way better.
- 17:28Speaker 1: You would get way better even if no matter where
- 17:30Speaker 1: you're starting it, will you become of the greatest writers
- 17:32Speaker 1: of all time. No, but if you but you'd be,
- 17:34Speaker 1: you'd I guarantee you, with practice, you'd be. You'd be
- 17:37Speaker 1: pretty darn good. I feel like, you know, you get
- 17:40Speaker 1: you get put in a box as a kid of
- 17:43Speaker 1: the things you can and can't do so early. And
- 17:45Speaker 1: you know, for me, that was singing. I was in
- 17:47Speaker 1: grade five and Missus McKinnon was like, chalk girls, just
- 17:51Speaker 1: mouth the words for this performance to my sister and
- 17:53Speaker 1: I when we were singing Christmas carols in a mall
- 17:55Speaker 1: for like some school, not a fancy choir, like a
- 17:57Speaker 1: school choir. And I feel like it was like that
- 18:00Speaker 1: moment where I love nothing more than musical theater and
- 18:04Speaker 1: was doing musical theater after school, and it just completely
- 18:09Speaker 1: shut me down and put me in this box of like, oh,
- 18:10Speaker 1: that's something that I can't do, so I stopped working
- 18:13Speaker 1: at it and learning and trying. And who knows where
- 18:16Speaker 1: you would have gotten if you would have kept going. Yeah,
- 18:19Speaker 1: you could have been adele Epennine in lame is Well
- 18:23Speaker 1: you think it's you think. I remember a kid I
- 18:25Speaker 1: went to school with could not really sing that well.
- 18:28Speaker 1: He could barely hold a tune, you know what I mean.
- 18:31Speaker 1: But he could play the piano really, really well. Right
- 18:35Speaker 1: when he graduated. He's gone on now to write songs.
- 18:40Speaker 1: He performs all the time. He's an amazing artist, you
- 18:45Speaker 1: know what I mean. But I remember when he couldn't sing.
- 18:48Speaker 1: He could sing his ass off, now, you know what
- 18:50Speaker 1: I mean. My little brother Alami day when he was
- 18:53Speaker 1: in a band called Imagine. When he auditioned for the
- 18:56Speaker 1: band Imagine, he sang show tunes because that's all he knew.
- 19:01Speaker 1: I think it's auditioned with something like, you know, the
- 19:03Speaker 1: song of Peter I Won't Grow Up. I think that
- 19:11Speaker 1: was his audition for the band, and they were like, well,
- 19:14Speaker 1: the kid can the kid can hold a tune, Let's
- 19:16Speaker 1: see if we can work with him. Now, my little brother,
- 19:18Speaker 1: he has music that he works on all the time
- 19:21Speaker 1: and he tries to get it out and he's you know,
- 19:23Speaker 1: he's doing his thing as a musician, and he's a
- 19:26Speaker 1: very good singer, and he sings. If you ask me,
- 19:28Speaker 1: he sings better than a lot of the motherfucker's out
- 19:30Speaker 1: right now. But that's just how do we how do
- 19:32Speaker 1: we hear his music? Need him? Plus? Yeah, we'll shout
- 19:35Speaker 1: him out at your old lammy day. Uh why oh
- 19:41Speaker 1: uh oh l A M I d E. I think
- 19:44Speaker 1: that's it, I, you know, to be honest with you,
- 19:47Speaker 1: I wasn't expecting to shout him out like that, but
- 19:49Speaker 1: I think that's his handle on Instagram. Uh, And we'll
- 19:54Speaker 1: fix it if it's not. Anyway, he worked really hard
- 19:58Speaker 1: to get where he was, so I understand, I understand
- 20:01Speaker 1: the premise. That doesn't necessarily mean you're gonna be no,
- 20:04Speaker 1: the greatest. I'm just saying. I'm just saying. An epiphany
- 20:07Speaker 1: I had in my own life, you know, in my
- 20:10Speaker 1: in my twenties, was, you know, stop saying you suck
- 20:13Speaker 1: at X, Y and Z. And it's not that you don't,
- 20:16Speaker 1: but it's because you haven't dedicated any interest. And it
- 20:18Speaker 1: comes at any time, and it becomes it comes with interest.
- 20:21Speaker 1: So the things that we're all interested in in our
- 20:23Speaker 1: own lives, our own hobbies and things outside of being
- 20:26Speaker 1: an actor, will dedicate countless hours too. For me. One
- 20:30Speaker 1: of my hobbies is photography. I will be online looking
- 20:33Speaker 1: at cameras and playing with new cameras, you know, for
- 20:36Speaker 1: endless hours. Now I could be dedicating that time to
- 20:39Speaker 1: something else and get quite good at that thing. So
- 20:42Speaker 1: it's just foolish just say like, oh I suck at that.
- 20:45Speaker 1: You might, but it's it's not because you you you,
- 20:47Speaker 1: it's in your bones. It's because you didn't dedicate any
- 20:50Speaker 1: commitment to time. That's all I'm right, I agree with.
- 20:53Speaker 1: And that also goes for learning lines also, yes, sure,
- 20:58Speaker 1: just putting it out. Yeah. Donald always used to say,
- 21:00Speaker 1: and always does, say, oh I can't learn lines. That's bullshit.
- 21:03Speaker 1: You were fucking high watching basketball. That was That was honest.
- 21:07Speaker 1: That's the honest, to goodness truth. And when I stopped
- 21:09Speaker 1: doing all of that, I found that learning lines was
- 21:12Speaker 1: actually very easy to do. When you just look. If
- 21:16Speaker 1: you can't learn it in two hours, there's something wrong,
- 21:19Speaker 1: you know what I mean? You should really think about
- 21:22Speaker 1: finding other exercises to do when it comes to line learning.
- 21:25Speaker 1: That is, it's just a matter of practice. For me.
- 21:28Speaker 1: By the way, we should just um Sarah before we
- 21:30Speaker 1: get in the episode, how is your quarantine going? You're
- 21:34Speaker 1: up in Canada still, I assume. Yeah, yeah, I'm up
- 21:37Speaker 1: in Canada. And it's, um, you know, it's like a
- 21:40Speaker 1: never ending roller coaster. We're doing pretty good. Um, We've
- 21:45Speaker 1: had like a little bit, you know, a kid. People
- 21:47Speaker 1: get sick and then obviously that's not a fun time
- 21:49Speaker 1: because every you know, anytime you get any symptom right now,
- 21:52Speaker 1: it's terrifying. UM. And and just trying to find ways
- 22:00Speaker 1: to keep the kids positive and occupied. And I feel
- 22:04Speaker 1: like it's you know, it's a constant um game, uh
- 22:09Speaker 1: with your own brain to just you know, keep focused
- 22:13Speaker 1: on positive stuff. And are they opening schools back up
- 22:17Speaker 1: in Canada yet they are? They sent out a survey
- 22:20Speaker 1: uh to say, you know, would you send your kids back?
- 22:23Speaker 1: And I answered back, I would not, could not in
- 22:26Speaker 1: a boat. I would not, could not with a goat. Right.
- 22:29Speaker 1: It's kind of hard to do that right now. That's
- 22:30Speaker 1: the one thing that's you know, that's the that's the
- 22:35Speaker 1: one thing that I I don't know that I could
- 22:37Speaker 1: do that. You know I could, I can't. I know,
- 22:40Speaker 1: I don't say I shouldn't say. I don't know. I
- 22:42Speaker 1: know that I wouldn't. I'm not ready for that. Yet,
- 22:45Speaker 1: But they're not doing that this school year, right. The talk,
- 22:48Speaker 1: if anything, would be the fall. They're opening here now August.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Some schools are already back. Yeah, school, my kids schools
- 22:57Speaker 1: are back. Um and um, you know, I feel like
- 23:01Speaker 1: it's uh, you know, party, which is the message they
- 23:04Speaker 1: were putting out there was there's absolutely a need for
- 23:08Speaker 1: some kids to go back to school. So please if
- 23:10Speaker 1: you can keep your kids home, to make more space
- 23:13Speaker 1: for the kids who have to go back, so that
- 23:15Speaker 1: there can be social distancing as opposed to like, do
- 23:18Speaker 1: you want to send your kids back? It should be
- 23:20Speaker 1: I think a little more focused on the goal of
- 23:24Speaker 1: keeping the numbers small still for the people that have
- 23:28Speaker 1: to go back because they need to go back or
- 23:29Speaker 1: because their parents are working on the front line or
- 23:31Speaker 1: whatever it is, right, Sarah, forgive me for not knowing this,
- 23:35Speaker 1: but has Canada been hit I mean, I know it
- 23:37Speaker 1: per capita obviously, but has it been hit as as
- 23:40Speaker 1: hard as the United States has been hit with it?
- 23:42Speaker 1: I don't think, you know, the numbers on the West
- 23:45Speaker 1: Coast are a lot better than the numbers on the
- 23:48Speaker 1: East Coast right now, and I think that you know,
- 23:54Speaker 1: part of that is the West coast of Canada. Their
- 23:56Speaker 1: spring break was a little bit sooner it hit. Their
- 23:59Speaker 1: first to the West coast had a bit more benefit
- 24:01Speaker 1: of time in terms of locking down a bit earlier
- 24:05Speaker 1: in terms of when the virus arrived. And and I
- 24:07Speaker 1: think it's it's obviously less densely populated, and so I
- 24:11Speaker 1: think part of it is just luck. Part of it's
- 24:14Speaker 1: a social distancing. But the numbers have been have been lower,
- 24:18Speaker 1: and the borders aren't open yet, right like you you, well,
- 24:21Speaker 1: you might be able to because you have dual citizenship,
- 24:23Speaker 1: right you can, but if you don't have dual citizenship,
- 24:25Speaker 1: you can't get into the United States. Right. Nope, they're
- 24:28Speaker 1: still closed. I don't know what their plans are for that.
- 24:32Speaker 1: I miss you well, yeah, you guys too, And you
- 24:34Speaker 1: guys have been keeping me entertained and happy. Are you
- 24:37Speaker 1: really listening because we had to prove I don't know
- 24:39Speaker 1: if you've heard the episode with Randall, but he tried
- 24:41Speaker 1: to act like he was listening and then he said
- 24:42Speaker 1: three two one, and he got out in one. No,
- 24:46Speaker 1: I've been listening. I've I haven't heard all of them.
- 24:48Speaker 1: I've heard a bunch of them, and it's making me
- 24:50Speaker 1: so happy, and I can't believe how much you guys remember.
- 24:53Speaker 1: And it's so fun to just, especially in a time
- 24:55Speaker 1: like this, like go back into that go back into
- 24:59Speaker 1: that headspace we had. I just we had so much fun.
- 25:01Speaker 1: We had so many fucking laughs, and I, um, yeah,
- 25:05Speaker 1: all of it, like Donald singing Stafford and Son. The
- 25:08Speaker 1: other day, Um, you know what it is, Well, you
- 25:13Speaker 1: know what it is. I was hanging out with Paul
- 25:14Speaker 1: Rudd and Alicia Silverstone and Breck and Meyer doing a
- 25:17Speaker 1: Clueless reunion like a year and a half ago or
- 25:19Speaker 1: something like that, right, And Paul said something that was
- 25:23Speaker 1: very very interesting. He was like, we have history together,
- 25:29Speaker 1: you know what I mean. So because we have history together,
- 25:32Speaker 1: it's so easy to fall back into where we were
- 25:38Speaker 1: when we were working on Scrubs, right, he was, he
- 25:42Speaker 1: was saying, we're clueless. He was like, we had such
- 25:44Speaker 1: a great time and it was such a big opportunity
- 25:48Speaker 1: for all of us, and it turned into something so
- 25:50Speaker 1: big that when we see each other, you can't help
- 25:53Speaker 1: but reminisce and feel all of those great feelings that
- 25:56Speaker 1: you had when shit jumped off. Right, Yeah, I think also,
- 26:00Speaker 1: you know, when we did the show, we didn't have
- 26:03Speaker 1: all these years of knowing just how special it really was.
- 26:07Speaker 1: I mean, we've all done plenty of jobs since and
- 26:11Speaker 1: continue to work and we'll till till our dying day.
- 26:14Speaker 1: But I think when I watched these episodes back and
- 26:17Speaker 1: I talk to you guys, and it's great seeing everyone
- 26:20Speaker 1: now we're doing the show. We see you Sarah, we
- 26:22Speaker 1: saw Johnny, see we see people that we don't see
- 26:24Speaker 1: all the time. It's it's even bringing back more nostalgia
- 26:27Speaker 1: for me because I'm going, Wow, what a what a
- 26:29Speaker 1: unique time this was to not only do something for
- 26:31Speaker 1: so long, but to create this wonderful bond with these
- 26:34Speaker 1: with these people, and um, it's you know a lot
- 26:37Speaker 1: of jobs as an actor that you do. They're fun
- 26:40Speaker 1: and everyone's cool and it works or it doesn't, but
- 26:43Speaker 1: it isn't such a special thing where where you have
- 26:45Speaker 1: these lifelong bonds with people. It's so true, is it?
- 26:48Speaker 1: It was? It was it was our twenties, right like
- 26:50Speaker 1: it was our twenties. It was such a formative time
- 26:52Speaker 1: I think too, in our lives. And then for it
- 26:55Speaker 1: to be on such a special show. And yeah, like
- 26:57Speaker 1: you guys were saying, like you know, you Reel was
- 27:00Speaker 1: being adults like how fucking rare that is? And to
- 27:03Speaker 1: have you know, I mean, we would we would spend
- 27:06Speaker 1: it was like you guys were talking about with Randall,
- 27:08Speaker 1: It's like we would spend sixteen twenty hours shooting. We
- 27:10Speaker 1: would go over time that people don't never do anymore,
- 27:13Speaker 1: and then we would go with the whole crew to
- 27:14Speaker 1: the money Tree, you know, on a Friday night. We
- 27:18Speaker 1: would have wine and cheese Fridays. I mean we've literally
- 27:21Speaker 1: just spent like over one hundred hours together. And then,
- 27:26Speaker 1: you know, and then are still hanging out or would
- 27:28Speaker 1: hang out on the weekends and we really all eat
- 27:30Speaker 1: lunch together. I mean, I don't know if you guys
- 27:32Speaker 1: now nowadays on sets, people are like all right later,
- 27:35Speaker 1: it's like right, but we used to every single day
- 27:40Speaker 1: for nine for eight years, um, have lunch together. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 27:45Speaker 1: it's so it's so um, it's so rare. I was
- 27:49Speaker 1: working on a job like a year ago, and I
- 27:50Speaker 1: just I was new there, and I just grabbed my
- 27:52Speaker 1: train and went down and sat with the crew and
- 27:54Speaker 1: a couple of guys that I'd worked with years and
- 27:56Speaker 1: years ago. And somebody said like, oh, actually, just go
- 28:00Speaker 1: to the trail and I was like, Oh, that's not
- 28:01Speaker 1: how that's not how I grew up, that's not what
- 28:03Speaker 1: I enjoy. And it was Yeah. I don't know if
- 28:08Speaker 1: you guys remember, but Carrie Bennett, our amazing costume designer
- 28:12Speaker 1: who had her own life fabulous scrubs. I definitely remember
- 28:16Speaker 1: Carrie Bennett. I think, oh my god, she's so great.
- 28:18Speaker 1: So she she she, she'd say to me, you know,
- 28:21Speaker 1: after lunch, she was like, Sarah, um, I don't want
- 28:24Speaker 1: to say this, but we're running out of scrubs, in
- 28:27Speaker 1: of your scrubs, and we we we we just need to.
- 28:30Speaker 1: We're going to give you this art smock as a
- 28:32Speaker 1: as a Giant did, and you've got to wear it
- 28:35Speaker 1: to the lunch ten And I was like, you're kidding me, right, Carrie,
- 28:38Speaker 1: And she's like, no, no, just like wear it and
- 28:40Speaker 1: then it will protect the scrubs, these beautiful baby blue
- 28:42Speaker 1: scrubs from the chili stain. And so I did, and
- 28:46Speaker 1: it was kind of humiliating, and I was super proud.
- 28:49Speaker 1: I came back from lunch and I'm like Carrie, And
- 28:51Speaker 1: then I had taken a quick disco nap in my
- 28:54Speaker 1: dressing room and I fell asleep on a sharpie, and
- 28:58Speaker 1: so these baby blue scrubs that were like pristine on
- 29:02Speaker 1: the front had like a sharply stained the size of
- 29:04Speaker 1: a grape fruit on the butt. Sarah, is it okay
- 29:07Speaker 1: to tell everyone that you're not necessarily the tidiest person?
- 29:15Speaker 1: Oh my god, I forgot about that. Your dressing room,
- 29:18Speaker 1: Oh my shit, how did you find anything? And never?
- 29:23Speaker 1: You've never seen anything like it? People, Oh, that's right,
- 29:28Speaker 1: come along. Well, I don't know, do you guys? Remember
- 29:31Speaker 1: I moved dressing rooms because I was between your two
- 29:33Speaker 1: dressing rooms at the right end of the hallway. And
- 29:36Speaker 1: then in whatever season that Heather Graham came on, she
- 29:39Speaker 1: was coming for eight episodes, and they made her a
- 29:43Speaker 1: really nice dressing room. They brought in like new carpeting
- 29:45Speaker 1: and they painted. They brought in this cute little couch
- 29:47Speaker 1: and it was smaller than I but it was so pretty,
- 29:50Speaker 1: and so when she left they let me have it.
- 29:52Speaker 1: So I ended up switching over to Heather's dressing That's
- 29:54Speaker 1: so fu up. They fixed up a dressing room because
- 29:57Speaker 1: Heather Graham was coming, and then when she left, you
- 29:59Speaker 1: were like, can I have it? And they were like sure?
- 30:01Speaker 1: Like that so fuck up that after all this time,
- 30:03Speaker 1: you didn't get that dressing room. That's you moved across
- 30:06Speaker 1: the hall. That's right, you moved to the other side.
- 30:08Speaker 1: Oh but okay, yes I did. And and as more
- 30:12Speaker 1: proof that I've been listening to your podcast, Johnny C.
- 30:14Speaker 1: I was laughing so hard. He was like, it was like,
- 30:18Speaker 1: we remember how we each got fifteen hundred dollars from
- 30:21Speaker 1: Disney every year to improve our dressing rooms. I was like,
- 30:23Speaker 1: hell no, I remember just going on. I remember I
- 30:28Speaker 1: remember going into Donald didn't have much to core and
- 30:31Speaker 1: he would just like like whatever, whatever the latest video
- 30:35Speaker 1: game system and the controllers everywhere, and then and then
- 30:38Speaker 1: Sarah looked like you're exploded. There was just like shit everywhere. Yeah,
- 30:46Speaker 1: kind of was a teenager. I mean when I looked
- 30:48Speaker 1: back at those episodes, we were babies, like, yeah, but
- 30:51Speaker 1: you were in your twenties. You weren't a teenager. I know,
- 30:54Speaker 1: I know. And then Zach your your dressing room looked
- 30:58Speaker 1: like fucking you would walk in and it would smell good.
- 31:01Speaker 1: You had freaking art on the wall and shit like
- 31:03Speaker 1: that stood up. I was there. I was there my
- 31:05Speaker 1: whole life. I thought it had to be a little
- 31:06Speaker 1: bit nice, but I want everyone to realize these are
- 31:09Speaker 1: still hospital rooms. Okay, these are small hospital rooms that
- 31:13Speaker 1: basically just had some Ikeya furniture and a fresh coat
- 31:16Speaker 1: of paint. But dude, you'll have changed your ship up
- 31:19Speaker 1: a little bit more than just Ikea furniture. Like they
- 31:22Speaker 1: were like they were like, Zach, here's your room, and
- 31:25Speaker 1: you were like, no, we gotta fix it. Hold on now,
- 31:26Speaker 1: hold hold on. Where did you get this? Where did
- 31:29Speaker 1: you get this furniture from Ikia? No? No, no, no no,
- 31:31Speaker 1: we gonna have to get pottery barn. Like you. It
- 31:36Speaker 1: was not as nice as pottery barn. It was. I
- 31:39Speaker 1: think it was all rental shit. So every year they
- 31:41Speaker 1: bring you in like how about this couch, and you'd
- 31:43Speaker 1: be like no, and then he's going to the rental
- 31:46Speaker 1: house and be like how about this one was just
- 31:48Speaker 1: like some bit I'm learning so much. I a never
- 31:52Speaker 1: got the fife someone. I never had someone to say
- 31:55Speaker 1: how about this couch. I was just whatever coach was
- 31:57Speaker 1: in there till I took Heather Clams. I mean, in
- 31:59Speaker 1: my difference, I was there the most hours of the day,
- 32:02Speaker 1: so I did. I did occasionally like I'm gonna need
- 32:05Speaker 1: to nap, so I'm gonna I do remember saying I
- 32:08Speaker 1: do remember going up to somebody and being like, listen,
- 32:11Speaker 1: I don't want to be a pain in the ass
- 32:12Speaker 1: or anything like that, but my couch is made out
- 32:16Speaker 1: of like, uh, it's like Dan Dirry or whatever this
- 32:19Speaker 1: shit is, and it's really hard on my face and
- 32:23Speaker 1: it's really hot. Is there a way we could find
- 32:25Speaker 1: something that's a little bit more cooler? Uh? And and
- 32:28Speaker 1: not cooler like uh like esthetically cooler, but cooler, like
- 32:33Speaker 1: keeps your body cool cooler. I don't want you to
- 32:37Speaker 1: be a pain in the ass, but is there any
- 32:39Speaker 1: way this could happen? And I remember them being like, hmm,
- 32:42Speaker 1: let me talk to somebody about this. We'll see you're
- 32:46Speaker 1: talking right. Maybe Zack's like they would be like, here's
- 32:51Speaker 1: a couch. When you think of this couch? No, okay
- 32:53Speaker 1: about that? You should have been like you should have
- 32:56Speaker 1: been like Heather Graham would like me to have a
- 32:59Speaker 1: nicer couch. Should we get into the episode, guys, absolutely,
- 33:05Speaker 1: I know you both have I know you both have
- 33:07Speaker 1: children that need tending to So absolutely, should we go
- 33:10Speaker 1: to break before we get to eat? Yes, we are
- 33:16Speaker 1: going to break. Sarah, would you like to throw it
- 33:17Speaker 1: a break. No, no, Sara, Sarah the episode break No sorry,
- 33:28Speaker 1: do it again? Go ahead, We're going to break. Welcome back.
- 33:41Speaker 1: We're here with Sarah Chalk, the legendary Canadian. I would
- 33:44Speaker 1: say America's favorite Canadian. I used to call her Canada's
- 33:49Speaker 1: Britney Spears who maybe Ryan Reynolds might be slightly more
- 33:52Speaker 1: popular than you, but that's it. Other than him, maybe
- 33:55Speaker 1: maybe Michael J. Fox that's it. Maybe maybe Seth Rogan,
- 34:00Speaker 1: maybe oh he's Canadian. Maybe Ryan got stop bringing stop
- 34:05Speaker 1: bringing Sarah down on the list. My heart, in my heart, Sarah,
- 34:10Speaker 1: you're number one, number one Canadian. That means a lot.
- 34:14Speaker 1: All right, let's try how about this. You're one of
- 34:17Speaker 1: my favorite human beings on the planet. How about that? True?
- 34:21Speaker 1: And Sarah, when you when I see your face, I
- 34:23Speaker 1: automatically smile. Put it that way. That's the highest compliment
- 34:26Speaker 1: I can give someone. I see your face and I smile.
- 34:31Speaker 1: I'll take it. Donald Directed by Adam Bernstein and written
- 34:35Speaker 1: by Matt Tarsa's that's a power team right there. Those
- 34:37Speaker 1: are two all stars. That's a good I knew that was.
- 34:40Speaker 1: There was a reason why I really liked this episode. Well,
- 34:43Speaker 1: there's a lot of good team. There's a lot of
- 34:44Speaker 1: good stuff in it. But for those of you who
- 34:47Speaker 1: don't know at home, those we've been talking about them.
- 34:50Speaker 1: But the Adam Bernstein directed the pilot back and also
- 34:55Speaker 1: the music video for Baby's Got Back. If you want
- 34:57Speaker 1: to see some of his finest work, and U which
- 35:00Speaker 1: involves a giant ass, I mean the set Adams Adam's choice.
- 35:03Speaker 1: Adam's vision for the Baby's Got Back video was to
- 35:07Speaker 1: just build an enormous ass. If you don't believe me,
- 35:12Speaker 1: look it up on YouTube. These dancers dance around a
- 35:15Speaker 1: huge ass. Well, you know, I wonder this did Adam
- 35:19Speaker 1: Bernstein direct Sir mix a lots follow up to Baby
- 35:23Speaker 1: Got Back? Put it on a glass? Very good question, Joel,
- 35:27Speaker 1: would you mind looking that up? No, Bill won't know,
- 35:30Speaker 1: but Joelle can look it up. Jarell Joel, who is
- 35:33Speaker 1: the genius or tour behind put it on the glass?
- 35:37Speaker 1: Was it indeed Adam Bernstein or not? Now? Donald, what
- 35:40Speaker 1: are they putting on the glass? Their boobs? Are their bums?
- 35:43Speaker 1: Their boobs? Oh, they're putting their boobs on the glass.
- 35:45Speaker 1: So he went from Baby Got Back to can you
- 35:49Speaker 1: imagine the meaning? That he's like, can you imagine, Like
- 35:51Speaker 1: they're like, sir, mix a lot comes in and he's like, Hi,
- 35:53Speaker 1: I have a song I want to do about the
- 35:54Speaker 1: love for my children. And they're like, ah no, we
- 35:58Speaker 1: were thinking more along the lines put him on the glass.
- 36:02Speaker 1: We were, right, I want to follow up baby, but
- 36:05Speaker 1: got back with a song that's really dear to me. Yeah,
- 36:07Speaker 1: it's about connection to my spirituality and my love of
- 36:10Speaker 1: my parents and and right and like you know, mix
- 36:15Speaker 1: a lot. We were thinking, sir, do you think they
- 36:17Speaker 1: called them sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, mix a lot.
- 36:20Speaker 1: We were we were thinking, Babies Back sold so well,
- 36:24Speaker 1: so many records, Yes, and it's only right that we
- 36:28Speaker 1: follow up with put them on the glass. Yeah, yeah,
- 36:31Speaker 1: you're you're focusing on the tushes we made millions. What
- 36:34Speaker 1: if you did something about putting boobies on windshields. I
- 36:39Speaker 1: don't know that one of the one. I don't know
- 36:40Speaker 1: that put him on the glass was as big as
- 36:42Speaker 1: Baby Got Back though. Now wait, I have a question, Donald,
- 36:44Speaker 1: it was put him on the glass specifically about putting
- 36:47Speaker 1: breasts on a windscreen? Yeah, it was like on a windshield? Yes,
- 36:51Speaker 1: So like I think what was sir mix a lot
- 36:54Speaker 1: asking of the women in specific. I don't know, but
- 36:56Speaker 1: all I know is the hook was like put him
- 36:58Speaker 1: on the glass. And I remember being like a different
- 37:03Speaker 1: what a different era? Joella's fact checking who directed that?
- 37:08Speaker 1: And if you don't know what we're talking about, you
- 37:10Speaker 1: really need to look up these music videos. I used
- 37:13Speaker 1: to pa on music videos back in the day, and
- 37:18Speaker 1: you know it was a different era. I mean people
- 37:20Speaker 1: actually watched music videos back then. You remember, yeah, dude,
- 37:23Speaker 1: I remember, I remember music video. I remember MTV. What
- 37:28Speaker 1: I really remember is the Box and that was when
- 37:30Speaker 1: you got to call in and make your video request.
- 37:33Speaker 1: Canada had the Box for a while. Y'all also had
- 37:36Speaker 1: other things that look, here's what was dope about just
- 37:40Speaker 1: shouting out your home country her names Junior High Well,
- 37:45Speaker 1: Degrassi Junior High, Degrassi High Yo, MTV raps. But there
- 37:51Speaker 1: was another one. It was like music Box or some
- 37:53Speaker 1: shit like that. I forget the name of it, but
- 37:55Speaker 1: it was like, all right, So when I was a kid,
- 37:58Speaker 1: b et head uh rap city? Oh was that? Yeah?
- 38:04Speaker 1: That was b Et I think, guess right, and so uh,
- 38:07Speaker 1: Canada also had a rap city also, and it would
- 38:10Speaker 1: be Canadian artists. And that's how I learned out about
- 38:13Speaker 1: learned about Cardinal Official and all of these Toronto artists
- 38:16Speaker 1: and stuff like that. Anyway, if you had cable when
- 38:20Speaker 1: you were a kid, you could get Canadian television, and
- 38:22Speaker 1: on Canadian television they would play de Grassi Junior High,
- 38:25Speaker 1: the Grassy High, and uh, what you can't do that
- 38:30Speaker 1: on television? I remember, you can't do that on television.
- 38:34Speaker 1: Loose Yak of the Lockers, wasn't that, yes? And Sarah
- 38:42Speaker 1: wasn't that? Um? Wasn't that the show where if you
- 38:45Speaker 1: if you said, I don't know, they dropped greenshit on you. Now,
- 38:50Speaker 1: I thought that was a Nickelodeon that. I thought that
- 38:52Speaker 1: was a Nickelodeon show. My point is, My point is,
- 38:56Speaker 1: you guys had some pretty dope television to watch its kids. Man,
- 38:59Speaker 1: they with some serious shit on Degrassi. Man, it wasn't
- 39:02Speaker 1: like the usual, you know, it wasn't Saved by the
- 39:05Speaker 1: Bell where Shorty got hooked on freaking caffeine pills. That
- 39:11Speaker 1: motherfucker got hooked on meth like shit like that, like
- 39:15Speaker 1: on like straight up pills, dude. And was Draca was
- 39:19Speaker 1: Drake a leading character on Degrassi or like that was
- 39:22Speaker 1: we were older by the time Drake was on Degrassi.
- 39:24Speaker 1: They weren't, you know, some of the original casts had
- 39:27Speaker 1: come back and they were like the teachers on they
- 39:29Speaker 1: were like screeching Belding type shit. But when it comes
- 39:32Speaker 1: to when it came to like there was a girl
- 39:34Speaker 1: on the show who got pregnant and junior high school
- 39:37Speaker 1: or something like that. It goes into high school. I
- 39:39Speaker 1: think her name was Caitlin or something like that. She
- 39:41Speaker 1: goes to High Steel and she got a baby and stuff.
- 39:44Speaker 1: I don't remember listening. I don't remember it well, but
- 39:46Speaker 1: I just remember it was like, these are more realistic
- 39:49Speaker 1: problems that youth are going through right now. When I
- 39:52Speaker 1: would watch Degrassi and stuff like that, watching compared to
- 39:56Speaker 1: watching Saved by the Bell or you know, City High
- 39:59Speaker 1: or or you know, Hang Time, y'all had the freaking
- 40:02Speaker 1: real deal. Holy feel things happen for kids, and also
- 40:08Speaker 1: inter racial relationships, all types of ship on that ship.
- 40:11Speaker 1: You know. I just remember. I remember, well, well, let's
- 40:14Speaker 1: drive in Donald at fifty seconds, Um you vacuum rowdy.
- 40:19Speaker 1: Yeah's the best part of the episode. I have an
- 40:24Speaker 1: L Mark designed that one. No I think that's the
- 40:27Speaker 1: only time. I think we don't have to ask ask
- 40:29Speaker 1: the scrubs wikied guy, I'm pretty sure it's the only
- 40:31Speaker 1: time in nine years Rowdy's ever been vacuumed. Oh yeah, well,
- 40:36Speaker 1: you know it can get just because it's dead. I mean,
- 40:39Speaker 1: I guess it can't get fleas, can it. I don't
- 40:42Speaker 1: know if dead animals can get fleas. Joel, I know
- 40:44Speaker 1: you're working on put him on the glass, but let
- 40:51Speaker 1: me ask you this. Yeah, okay, I know both of
- 40:55Speaker 1: you do. I love my parents. Yeah, I was about
- 40:57Speaker 1: having them around. I stop having them around, you know
- 41:00Speaker 1: what I mean. So when watching this and they're like
- 41:05Speaker 1: and and Turk and Elliott and j d are trying
- 41:09Speaker 1: to avoid their parents, I was like, I don't necessarily,
- 41:12Speaker 1: I don't necessarily fall in line with this. I don't necessarily,
- 41:15Speaker 1: you know, I'd love my mom and when my dad
- 41:18Speaker 1: are around me, you know what I mean. It's a
- 41:19Speaker 1: lot of fun, I know. And I was thinking this.
- 41:21Speaker 1: I know you all, you both so well, and I
- 41:23Speaker 1: know that you both are very close with your family
- 41:26Speaker 1: and your parents, and as you know, I am the
- 41:28Speaker 1: same way. And it's funny that the writers, um, well
- 41:33Speaker 1: we'll blame Matt Sarsis since he's uh, you know, credited
- 41:36Speaker 1: as the head writer on this episode. Um, you know,
- 41:39Speaker 1: there wasn't like a varying point of view the whole episode.
- 41:43Speaker 1: Truth Parents suck. I know, I totally. I got very
- 41:49Speaker 1: lucky in the parent department as well. And so, um yeah,
- 41:53Speaker 1: that moment when when Jady walks up and Donald and
- 41:55Speaker 1: I are so bummed. Yeah, you're crying, You're literally you're
- 41:58Speaker 1: you're you're comforting each other. And then I come in
- 42:02Speaker 1: hug Donald because he's so sad that his mom. Now,
- 42:05Speaker 1: by the way, Hattie Winston played your mom, Yeah she did.
- 42:08Speaker 1: Let's give a shout out to Hattie. She was very
- 42:10Speaker 1: funny and very uh lovable. I mean, I guess she's
- 42:13Speaker 1: supposed to be that she gives you a lot of shit,
- 42:15Speaker 1: but I mean I didn't buy that she was the
- 42:17Speaker 1: pain in the end. She was. She was lovable and
- 42:19Speaker 1: fun right. Do you remember Hattie Winston from our youth? No?
- 42:22Speaker 1: What was she on the Electric Company with Morgan Freeman back?
- 42:27Speaker 1: And they do remember the Electric Company? Yes? I do.
- 42:29Speaker 1: Do you remember the Bloodhound guest it? Hey you guys? Yeah, Dad,
- 42:37Speaker 1: I forget this. Come Alan. Now that's a great space coaster.
- 42:40Speaker 1: I'm thinking of sho remember Great Race Coast anyway, Hattie
- 42:44Speaker 1: Winston Electric Company, Morgan Freeman Electric Company, it's the great
- 42:47Speaker 1: space coaster. Great Race Coast umbers on, conspicuously silent. Anytime
- 42:54Speaker 1: you guys start singing, because I revert into this little show,
- 42:57Speaker 1: were mis spear just of this episode. You can't do
- 43:01Speaker 1: that anymore. I can't do that. And I've always made
- 43:03Speaker 1: fun of you for singing, But now that I've heard
- 43:05Speaker 1: that it's a tender spot in your heart, I never
- 43:07Speaker 1: will again. Kim oh boy. One of my favorite scenes
- 43:14Speaker 1: was Hattie Winston and Judy. You know when when they
- 43:16Speaker 1: first meet and Judy just lays lays it all on
- 43:20Speaker 1: the table. Oh um, I just got the note from
- 43:23Speaker 1: Joel put him on the glass? Is not Adam Bernstein? Okay, Sarah,
- 43:29Speaker 1: the guest don't usually the producer's notes. That's usually for
- 43:33Speaker 1: the two hosts. But you're, Sarah, You're you're the first
- 43:39Speaker 1: guest that's had the audacity to read our producer's notes
- 43:42Speaker 1: to us. I'm all right. I think that shows my
- 43:44Speaker 1: comfort level. I'm all right. If you want to what
- 43:50Speaker 1: our handshake? Donald Sarah if you wouldn't mind closing the
- 43:53Speaker 1: chat thing, because what if Joel's like, oh my god,
- 43:55Speaker 1: shut Sarah up, and then we you read it. Joel
- 43:58Speaker 1: would never say any Joel. It's just in Sarah needs
- 44:01Speaker 1: to stop talking. So from Jelly, Sarah won't shut the
- 44:07Speaker 1: fuck up. Please move on from this topic. Have her
- 44:10Speaker 1: shortened her sentence answers? Quick? Short? Shorter is better? Short
- 44:15Speaker 1: is better. I wish the audience would see I wait
- 44:17Speaker 1: before you say that. I wish the audience could see
- 44:19Speaker 1: how Sarah has framed her her iPad. It's as though,
- 44:22Speaker 1: like you know, when you talk to you, you know,
- 44:23Speaker 1: when you talk to your grandparents, and all you see
- 44:25Speaker 1: is like an eyebrow and maybe an ear. That's that's
- 44:29Speaker 1: the camera shot we have with Sarah. Yeah, that's because
- 44:31Speaker 1: my laptop's broken. Some one an iPad, so it's precariously
- 44:34Speaker 1: balanced on a tower of books and poker chips and
- 44:38Speaker 1: a gift that's wrapped and balance counterbalance with a hot
- 44:44Speaker 1: cup of scalding macha. How many different types of tea
- 44:46Speaker 1: are in front of you on that table? Mm, so
- 44:50Speaker 1: only one this cup of macha. Have a few other
- 44:52Speaker 1: beverages around me. There's not tea. But as Donald was
- 44:54Speaker 1: saying at the beginning, that um, I like salad. I
- 44:57Speaker 1: was telling my kids the other day because they were
- 44:58Speaker 1: teasing me for how much I can keep making soup,
- 45:00Speaker 1: and they're so tired of soup, and it's this soup
- 45:02Speaker 1: and then that soup, and then I'm just trying to
- 45:03Speaker 1: keep everybody healthy. And so I was explaining to them
- 45:06Speaker 1: how my nickname on Scrubs, other than second Becky, was
- 45:09Speaker 1: also soup for breakfast, because I would always have and
- 45:13Speaker 1: also Saray, the limberson I know who would like make
- 45:15Speaker 1: a tea and like bring it to the set or
- 45:18Speaker 1: to her room and then have a few SIPs to
- 45:20Speaker 1: that and then be like I'm going to go make
- 45:22Speaker 1: a different flavored tea and then have won any chan
- 45:27Speaker 1: and like just be bouncing between the flavors. I never
- 45:29Speaker 1: met another human being who does it. Is double fisting. Yeah, well,
- 45:33Speaker 1: do you remember Darla, our makeup artist, used to put
- 45:35Speaker 1: post it notes on the makeup mirror and be like,
- 45:38Speaker 1: please tomorrow, beat this record and have less scalding beverages
- 45:42Speaker 1: than you did today because it would be like fourteen
- 45:44Speaker 1: and she'd be like, I'm tired of mopping your sweat
- 45:46Speaker 1: from these hot drinks that you're drinking in the middle
- 45:49Speaker 1: of summer in this poorly ventilated, air conditioned hospital. Listen,
- 45:55Speaker 1: it was your it's your method, it's how you are,
- 45:58Speaker 1: and nobody falls how I do. How you do. I'm
- 46:01Speaker 1: very familiar with how you do. Where did we get
- 46:03Speaker 1: that from? All of a sudden that became something that
- 46:06Speaker 1: we talked, he said all the time. I am now
- 46:08Speaker 1: familiar with how you do. Okay, I'm hearing you, and
- 46:11Speaker 1: I'm familiar. I'm familiar with how you do. All right, Well,
- 46:15Speaker 1: let's talk about it. One on four, the legendary John
- 46:17Speaker 1: Ritter walks in. John Ritter. We've all spoken about our
- 46:22Speaker 1: love for John. I've spoken on the podcast before, and
- 46:25Speaker 1: just in short, I loved this man so much. I
- 46:28Speaker 1: grew up on Three's Company. It was sort of my
- 46:31Speaker 1: introduction to physical comedy. I thought it was hilarious. I
- 46:34Speaker 1: told you my embarrassing story about bringing it up at
- 46:36Speaker 1: my dinner table. But I just loved this man so much.
- 46:40Speaker 1: And uh and when he came on to play my
- 46:43Speaker 1: dad in this episode, I was I was just giddy.
- 46:45Speaker 1: I think we all were. Yeah, absolutely, go ahead, sir.
- 46:49Speaker 1: I couldn't believe it when I heard he was coming.
- 46:51Speaker 1: I had I had worked with him when I was younger,
- 46:54Speaker 1: when I did you know a series of these um
- 46:57Speaker 1: disease of the Week movies that film up in Canada
- 46:59Speaker 1: was what was filming here when I was growing up
- 47:01Speaker 1: at the time. And this one movie the Week that
- 47:04Speaker 1: I got to do with John Ridder that I will
- 47:06Speaker 1: never forget. He was so kind to me, and I
- 47:10Speaker 1: was this gang kid. I think I was probably seventeen maybe,
- 47:14Speaker 1: and there was a power outage where I lived and
- 47:19Speaker 1: my alarm didn't go off. And this has only happened
- 47:22Speaker 1: to me twice once then and then one time on
- 47:25Speaker 1: Scrubs that wasn't a PowerEdge. It was another situation when
- 47:29Speaker 1: Michael J. Fox was working with us. And so I'm seventeen,
- 47:32Speaker 1: my alarm doesn't go off with a power outage, and
- 47:35Speaker 1: where we're shooting is an hour and a half away,
- 47:37Speaker 1: and John Ridder is John Ridder and so talented and
- 47:41Speaker 1: this incredible actor and the lead of this and I'm
- 47:44Speaker 1: playing his daughter. I had this small part, and I
- 47:48Speaker 1: couldn't believe it. My phone rang and they're like, where
- 47:50Speaker 1: are you? And obviously the worst feeling in the world,
- 47:53Speaker 1: and I got in my car and I drove out there,
- 47:56Speaker 1: and he gave me a big hug and he's like, ah,
- 47:58Speaker 1: happens to everybody, and told me this story and immediately
- 48:01Speaker 1: made me okay about it as opposed to all of
- 48:04Speaker 1: the other choices that he had. And I will never
- 48:06Speaker 1: forget that. And then obviously everything you said Zach about like, yeah,
- 48:11Speaker 1: I mean growing up with Three's company and being in
- 48:14Speaker 1: awe of him. And you know, Sarah, did you watch
- 48:17Speaker 1: that show? I mean, it's funny because I were around
- 48:19Speaker 1: the same age, and I feel like, I know Donald
- 48:23Speaker 1: and I have referenced to it a lot, but was
- 48:24Speaker 1: that something in Canada you were watching? It was huge.
- 48:27Speaker 1: It was huge. It was one of my sisters and
- 48:29Speaker 1: my favorite shows. We would we would sit down and
- 48:31Speaker 1: watch it. And it's like you said, too, like the
- 48:33Speaker 1: physical comedy was so incredible on that show, and you know,
- 48:37Speaker 1: we got a taste and a bit of an opportunity
- 48:40Speaker 1: to try some physical comedy on Scrubs. That was actually
- 48:43Speaker 1: one of my quarantine lessons. We've been you know, trying
- 48:45Speaker 1: to keep the kids busy and occupied during quarantine and
- 48:48Speaker 1: with me and my sister's kids, we have such a
- 48:50Speaker 1: wide variety of ages, so we've been doing different things
- 48:53Speaker 1: and one of my lessons was pratfalls, and my three
- 48:55Speaker 1: year old was just given her. I mean I just
- 48:57Speaker 1: like put a stack of books on the ground and
- 48:59Speaker 1: I was like, okay, so you're aproaching in. The trick
- 49:00Speaker 1: is to like make it look like you don't see it,
- 49:02Speaker 1: so you turn away just at the last second, and
- 49:04Speaker 1: I have to send you guys the video. I mean,
- 49:05Speaker 1: Frankie just like just gives her bail. Did you give her?
- 49:09Speaker 1: Did you give her a matt? For God's sakes, we
- 49:11Speaker 1: didn't have a matt. We had like kind of a
- 49:13Speaker 1: rough carpet, so probably that would have been a better,
- 49:17Speaker 1: you know, way to introduce pratfalls with a matt. You're
- 49:20Speaker 1: a very good physical comedian, Sarah. I think you're very
- 49:22Speaker 1: good at pratfalls. Well. It was one of the funnest
- 49:25Speaker 1: things we got to do on Scrubs, was like, you know,
- 49:29Speaker 1: doing all of the stunts, and our favorite thing obviously
- 49:31Speaker 1: was all of us, for all of us was to
- 49:32Speaker 1: be like, let me try it, let me try it.
- 49:34Speaker 1: Except for the best story I think of not wanting
- 49:37Speaker 1: to try it was Bill asking Zack and I if
- 49:40Speaker 1: we would bungee jump oh wow, and and we both
- 49:44Speaker 1: said no because we didn't want a bungee jump. And
- 49:47Speaker 1: our stunt doubles met that day in my stunt doubles
- 49:50Speaker 1: her first day ever doing a stunt, her first stunt ever,
- 49:53Speaker 1: and they met and got fail in love and got married.
- 49:54Speaker 1: And then for the run of the show was so
- 49:56Speaker 1: cute our stunt doubles were married. Do you think they're
- 49:58Speaker 1: still married? They're not. No, you know, Sarah, I love
- 50:07Speaker 1: how you were not going to leave the audience with
- 50:08Speaker 1: You're gonna leave them on the positive romantic comedy version happened,
- 50:12Speaker 1: but bunge it again and I broke up. No, I
- 50:15Speaker 1: don't know what happened. I just was on another job
- 50:18Speaker 1: years and years later in New Orleans, and um, your
- 50:22Speaker 1: stunt double was working on it, and I asked him
- 50:25Speaker 1: about my stunt double and he said, we're no longer.
- 50:28Speaker 1: I'm telling this terrible story now on this dark By
- 50:31Speaker 1: the way, I love it because it's like we're all like, oh,
- 50:33Speaker 1: and then they fell in love and they got married.
- 50:35Speaker 1: Are they still married? Oh? No, no, no, no, no, no,
- 50:37Speaker 1: this is that. This is we're now talking after the
- 50:40Speaker 1: credits have rolled. Man, everybody, everybody in all the movies,
- 50:44Speaker 1: it always is gonna end great. You just don't see
- 50:47Speaker 1: what happens after the credits and the credits. They hate
- 50:49Speaker 1: each other, you know, a few years later and they
- 50:51Speaker 1: get divorced, and it's freaking ugly. I want to know
- 50:54Speaker 1: what brought what broke them up? I wish now you
- 50:56Speaker 1: don't know. Oh, they're probably listening. What if it was
- 50:59Speaker 1: another person it was not a stunt brought them together?
- 51:02Speaker 1: Another stunt toward them apart the movie? Right, you mock
- 51:05Speaker 1: you mock them, You mocked them. I'm not mocking them.
- 51:08Speaker 1: I'm laughing with them. Yet. Bill Building got so mad
- 51:13Speaker 1: at Zach and I remember because we we then go
- 51:16Speaker 1: all of us as a cast um to Brazil and
- 51:19Speaker 1: Mexico to do a Scrubs press tour, and we go
- 51:22Speaker 1: hang gliding and builds like you wouldn't do an organized
- 51:25Speaker 1: stunt jumping off a bridge together, but you'll go to
- 51:28Speaker 1: Rio and jump off a cliff attached to a kite.
- 51:32Speaker 1: Yeah all right, but wait a second, you're going too fast.
- 51:34Speaker 1: I don't know, I don't I remember being like, fuck no,
- 51:36Speaker 1: I don't want to bungee jump with tied to Sarah
- 51:39Speaker 1: off a bridge. But I also don't think it was
- 51:41Speaker 1: fully up to us. I think that the the insurance
- 51:44Speaker 1: and people were like no, no, no, you're not doing that.
- 51:47Speaker 1: But I don't know. I'll take the blame. But I
- 51:49Speaker 1: do remember in Ruy was it Rio that we we
- 51:52Speaker 1: all decided it's very random. These guys come up to
- 51:55Speaker 1: you and they're like, do you do you want to
- 51:57Speaker 1: do hang gliding? No, this this wasn't a random guy.
- 51:59Speaker 1: That one of our guides was like, I have a
- 52:01Speaker 1: friend who wants to take you hang gliding, and hang
- 52:05Speaker 1: gliding basically involves trusting stranger and then running off a
- 52:09Speaker 1: cliff with them. And I remember being like, I really hope.
- 52:12Speaker 1: And they kept going like the wind is not good
- 52:14Speaker 1: today for hang gliding, and I remember my heart being like,
- 52:17Speaker 1: thank God, thank god, the wind's not good for hang gliding.
- 52:20Speaker 1: And then he finally came and he's like the winding,
- 52:22Speaker 1: the wind is now good for hang gliding, and I
- 52:24Speaker 1: was like, fuck, I didn't want to go. I remember,
- 52:28Speaker 1: well we all felt like that because I remember he
- 52:29Speaker 1: was all at the pool and they said handlider at
- 52:32Speaker 1: the pool said he they said hand gliding and he
- 52:37Speaker 1: was in the pool. He came swimming up to us
- 52:39Speaker 1: and he didn't speak very much English, but he did say,
- 52:43Speaker 1: I really want to take you all hand gliding. And
- 52:46Speaker 1: he kept saying that and we were like, oh, no, no,
- 52:48Speaker 1: and he was like you know what. And at one
- 52:50Speaker 1: point we all got the courage and we were like,
- 52:52Speaker 1: all right, fine, we'll go. And he was like, oh,
- 52:54Speaker 1: you know what, the wind's not good and we all,
- 52:56Speaker 1: like all of us were like whoa. And we were like, well,
- 52:59Speaker 1: you know what, if the wind was good, we would
- 53:01Speaker 1: have win. Yeah at the wind right now? Broken English remember,
- 53:09Speaker 1: and his broken English he kept saying, will you be
- 53:11Speaker 1: making a hang gliding? Will you be making And I
- 53:14Speaker 1: remember me like, I really don't want to make a
- 53:16Speaker 1: hang gliding, but do you guys remember there was a
- 53:19Speaker 1: build It was build up the whole trip, Like we
- 53:21Speaker 1: were in Mexico first, then we were in Brazil, we
- 53:23Speaker 1: were in South Paulo, and then we were in Rio,
- 53:25Speaker 1: and there was build up the whole trip, like are
- 53:26Speaker 1: we going to hang glider? We're not gonna hang glide.
- 53:28Speaker 1: Was this conversation the whole time, and then by the
- 53:30Speaker 1: time we got there and we said yes, and then
- 53:33Speaker 1: the wind changed back. I remember thinking like fuck, Like
- 53:36Speaker 1: I used to sail race my whole growing up. The
- 53:38Speaker 1: wind changes on a dime, So what if it changes
- 53:40Speaker 1: to not good when you're jumping off of the cliff.
- 53:43Speaker 1: And I don't know if you guys remember what happened,
- 53:45Speaker 1: but we signed our lives away on those contracts. We
- 53:48Speaker 1: drive up this giant cliff, we get into our with
- 53:51Speaker 1: our with our instructors who were going to be jumping
- 53:53Speaker 1: with and I was terrified. And the instructor came up
- 53:56Speaker 1: to me and he was like, I've been doing this
- 53:58Speaker 1: twenty five years, nothing is ever happened. So he goes
- 54:02Speaker 1: ahead of me, and I'm with another guide and you
- 54:04Speaker 1: guys are all in the arm last and I where
- 54:07Speaker 1: it's gorgeous. It's spectacular. You're flying over the jungle and
- 54:09Speaker 1: then the ocean. He land on the beach. When you
- 54:12Speaker 1: jump off, they say, now right away, your hand glider
- 54:15Speaker 1: is going to drop until it catches wind. So there's
- 54:17Speaker 1: this like split second where your hand glidder just fucking
- 54:20Speaker 1: drops and your stomach goes into your throat. And he
- 54:23Speaker 1: says to me, right before we leave, he goes, when
- 54:25Speaker 1: you run, you run. You don't change your mind because
- 54:27Speaker 1: that can affect And I'm like, if that can affect
- 54:30Speaker 1: whether this thing catches wind or not, this is not
- 54:32Speaker 1: an activities participating in. Yeah, my go yes, And my
- 54:35Speaker 1: guy said to me. My guy said to me, the
- 54:37Speaker 1: only way we can get hurt is if you stop
- 54:41Speaker 1: running at the wrong time. So when I say run,
- 54:45Speaker 1: you need to fucking run right. So we all go
- 54:48Speaker 1: running towards this clip like fucking mad people. Dude, everybody
- 54:57Speaker 1: had great landings. All of you had wonderful landings. I
- 55:00Speaker 1: shit on my landing. You did, Oh my gosh. He
- 55:03Speaker 1: was like okay, well yeah, because they were like, okay,
- 55:05Speaker 1: the most important part is the landing. You don't want
- 55:07Speaker 1: to land wrong because you could break your legs and everything.
- 55:09Speaker 1: And I'm like, oh shit, we didn't go over landing.
- 55:14Speaker 1: We're coming in and I'm like, all right, I'm gonna
- 55:16Speaker 1: make this landing. I'm gonna make this landing. And this
- 55:19Speaker 1: I feel like this dude tripped me or some shit
- 55:21Speaker 1: like that, because all I know is we landed and
- 55:24Speaker 1: my feet were in the ground and in his foot
- 55:26Speaker 1: catch his mind, and now my face and arms are
- 55:29Speaker 1: fucking in the fucking sand. Dude, I was like, I
- 55:32Speaker 1: loved it in your mind. The hang gliding guys like,
- 55:34Speaker 1: you know what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna trip this motherfucker.
- 55:36Speaker 1: I think he did. I think I think I wasn't
- 55:39Speaker 1: having enough fun for him. You know, the guy, the
- 55:44Speaker 1: guy we were all with him, we were all we
- 55:46Speaker 1: were all with a guide, and the guy who was like,
- 55:48Speaker 1: will you be making the hang gliding went alone because
- 55:51Speaker 1: he wiped out. He was all bloody do you remember
- 55:53Speaker 1: snapped his hanglider? He so he was ahead of me.
- 55:56Speaker 1: He lands, and I'm like, he's just told me nothing
- 55:59Speaker 1: could go wrong. He fucking lands, his hand elid are
- 56:01Speaker 1: snapped and he broke his ankle, and that happened as
- 56:04Speaker 1: I'm still in the air about to land, and so
- 56:06Speaker 1: I'm like, are you getting me right now? So he
- 56:08Speaker 1: was okay, but he definitely hurt himself, and we land
- 56:11Speaker 1: and my and everybody's like getting handed their their role
- 56:14Speaker 1: of film because the whole time they're like, look over
- 56:15Speaker 1: and there's like a little mini camera triggered by this
- 56:18Speaker 1: little thing in their hands, so they're taking pictures of us.
- 56:21Speaker 1: Whole time. I thought, great, I'm gonna have proof nobody's
- 56:22Speaker 1: gonna believe I did this. And we get down onto
- 56:25Speaker 1: the beach and he says to me, I'm so sorry.
- 56:28Speaker 1: I forgot to put film in the camera. So the
- 56:31Speaker 1: whole time we're in the air, he's taking all these pictures.
- 56:33Speaker 1: So I have a picture on the ground before we
- 56:35Speaker 1: like on the cliff, before we leave, and when we land,
- 56:37Speaker 1: and he's like, I'll take you back up again for free,
- 56:40Speaker 1: because I feel so bad. And I was like, nope, nope,
- 56:43Speaker 1: we are not doing this again. I have my pictures.
- 56:48Speaker 1: There's somewhere I remember seeing him. I've never seen my
- 56:50Speaker 1: pictures of me hand gliding ever. Before we get back
- 56:53Speaker 1: into the show, I do remember another thing that happened
- 56:57Speaker 1: to us while we were on this trip, oh called explosivo. Yeah,
- 57:03Speaker 1: and I know you guys remember this because it was
- 57:05Speaker 1: the worst thing that's ever happened to me ever in
- 57:07Speaker 1: my life. But I missed a whole dinner because I
- 57:11Speaker 1: was sitting on a toilet exploding right from our listeners
- 57:17Speaker 1: might not want to hear about the extent of your diarrhea.
- 57:20Speaker 1: I don't care. You know what one of my favorite
- 57:24Speaker 1: do you know what saved me? What the tequila I'm
- 57:28Speaker 1: not gonna lie. So your advice for people with explosive
- 57:32Speaker 1: diarrhea is to drink tequila? No, that is not as
- 57:36Speaker 1: as a TV doctor, that is not my That is
- 57:38Speaker 1: not my advice to people. But because my stomach was
- 57:42Speaker 1: so messed up, I was drinking all of these concoctions,
- 57:46Speaker 1: like some of it was white, some of it like
- 57:49Speaker 1: I was going crazy and nothing was working, and my
- 57:53Speaker 1: stomach was always like even after I ate, all right, well,
- 58:01Speaker 1: I hope some of our listeners aren't eating their lunch
- 58:04Speaker 1: right now. Some people like, do you remember do you
- 58:06Speaker 1: remember what I said after I came out of the bathroom.
- 58:09Speaker 1: Has anyone ever seen a gallon of shit? Does anybody
- 58:13Speaker 1: know what that looks like? That's what you said? Said,
- 58:17Speaker 1: that was what I said. We read, we read Brazilian Barbecue.
- 58:20Speaker 1: We went to Brazilian Barbecue, and Donald said, I wonder
- 58:23Speaker 1: if I can drown it in meat. I wonder if
- 58:25Speaker 1: I eat so much meat that maybe this could stop. Finally,
- 58:28Speaker 1: because it had been it had been ten days at
- 58:30Speaker 1: this point, and it had cycled through all of us,
- 58:32Speaker 1: and we were we were like having lunch was with
- 58:35Speaker 1: contest winners, and I would like jump up to run
- 58:37Speaker 1: puke like we all were so sick. And the whole
- 58:39Speaker 1: thing with hand gliding was is it going to be
- 58:41Speaker 1: possible for us to be in the air for fifteen
- 58:43Speaker 1: whole minutes? Right? So in the back of our minds
- 58:46Speaker 1: was hang gliding. If we make the hang gliding, are
- 58:49Speaker 1: we going to shit our pants? Yeah? This is pretty much.
- 58:52Speaker 1: It lasted for a really long time with me. I
- 58:54Speaker 1: remember being on the plane and pooing on the plane
- 58:58Speaker 1: from like Mexico to Brazil. So you are your your
- 59:02Speaker 1: your your protocol that you gave yourself of meat and
- 59:05Speaker 1: tequila didn't work. I'm shocked. Ready to go to a break,
- 59:10Speaker 1: and we have a caller. Right after the break, we'll
- 59:11Speaker 1: be right back with the legendary Sarah Chuck. Now, Sarah,
- 59:21Speaker 1: we have a very special guest today. There he is.
- 59:24Speaker 1: That's Trevor. Hi, Trevor is that? Let me tell you, guys,
- 59:28Speaker 1: something about Trevor. Trevor is gonna explain it to also all.
- 59:30Speaker 1: But I have been stealing all of my Scrubs trivia
- 59:34Speaker 1: from a Scrubs wiki um which which I believe Trevor
- 59:39Speaker 1: has curated himself. Trevor, have you curated this whole thing
- 59:42Speaker 1: on your own. Oh no, no, no, I uh. It
- 59:46Speaker 1: definitely is a team effort. So scrubs Wiki is similar
- 59:49Speaker 1: to Wikipedia. Or Donald may be familiar with wookie Pia,
- 59:55Speaker 1: which is the Star Wars wiki, and so he is equivalent.
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: There are about a thousand of us. Oh oh wow,
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: wow wow. Yeah, there's a core thirty people really that
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: kind of did the majority of it. But I'm here
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: on the podcast today, so I guess I pulled you.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: You did pull the right strings, because Sarah, because you
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: don't listen to the podcast, I'll tell you. I heard this.
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: I know this. If you put in scrubs Wiki or
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: Scrubs trivia, this comes up and it is an amazing
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: curated resource for you fans to check it out. And
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: I've been stealing all sorts of factoids and uh and
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: trivia and all sorts of information and uh. And finally
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: I was looking in the last week and was it
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: you Trevor that had written, um, Zach, thanks for he
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: put in one of the in one of like the
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: trivial lines, like, Zach, thanks for enjoying Scrubs Wiki. Have
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: Joel email me. I'd love to talk to you guys.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: So I did it worked, and um and um. I
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: want to thank you and the thousand or so people
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: that have curated this thing because it's incredible and and
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: a great uh source of fun for I'm sure fans.
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: If you have a question about an episode, yeah, it's
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: there's a group of us that to understand something, you
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: need to write it down. And so when we watch
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: an episode of Scrubs or whatever TV show that you
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: have a favorite wiki for, you watch it and then
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: you write down your favorite quotes, your favorite it's a
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: trivia and then over time those thousand people will help
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: kind of correct what you might have gotten wrong. And
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: how do you, Trevor, how do you prevent someone from
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: and I'm sure this happens on Wikipedia as well, but
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: how do you prevent someone from writing something that's nonsense
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: and isn't accurate? Oh? I guarantee there is some nonsense
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: and some inaccuracies there, especially now after I've just blown
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: it up. I was about to say, because my Wikipedia,
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: my IMDb says I was in uncle Buck. That's not
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: me and Uncle Buck. You weren't. That's not me and
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: uncle Buck. Thank god, now you're gonna tell me it's
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: a fantastic movie. So, Trevor, do you also do that movie?
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: But I wasn't in it. Trevor, do you do any
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: wikies for any other things that you're a fan of
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: or is this the only one you participate in? Uh? So,
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: it's funny. The TV shows Lost and Scrubs kind of
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: brought me up to California and jump started my career
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: at that website, Phantom dot com. And so I was
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: telling my partner, who were starting to watch Scrubs together
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: now from the very first episode, now we just started
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: season two. I tell her that it's because of Scrubs
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: that I got to meet her. Oh that's so cool. Oh,
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: because it brought you to California. So what you do it?
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: If you did it for losses, You're welcome. You're welcome,
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: just putting it. You're You're welcome. You're welcome, Trevor, you
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: do for loss as well, because Loss probably really needs
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: a wiki because it's so confusing. Yeah, Lostpedia was the
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: big wiki where it organized all of the theories and
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: the smoke monster and all of that crazy stuff. Is
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: there a theory to what lost? What? What? Where? They were?
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: They ended it? Right? It was all it was all,
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: It was all right, They never They never explained it
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: being purgatory. They never explained anything. They left it open ended,
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: so you can make up your own mind. That's the
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: crazy shit. What Lost. What they used to do was sorry, sorry,
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: I guess that's a spoiler. Well no it's not. It
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: would lost. What they would do is because everybody's watch
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: if you haven't Lost, watched Lost, spoiler alerts. Uh. They
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: never saw. They never solved anything on that show. They
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: would introduce something and then at the end of the
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: season there was no explanation. It was very good though
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: for the first few seasons, and I have to I
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: eventually gave up. I have to admit, but I have
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: a friend who's hardcore Lost fan, and he says, up
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: until the last fifteen minutes, it was one of his
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: favorite series, and then he and then he just hated
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: how they just chose to end it, which I never
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: saw but was assumed was purgatory. But I'm wrong, so
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: I didn't spoiler it. Oh. I was gonna segue back
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: to Scrubs because I think Scrubs Season A finale, my
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: finale is probably the greatest finale to any team, better
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: than Breaking Bad. Uh. So comedy, did you do that,
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: and then he made him quality. But to check this out,
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: I've never watched an episode of Breaking Bad. I saw
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: the finale and I was like, holy shit, that was
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: a great episode. You decided to start Breaking Bad with
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: the finale. I'm just checking that. Absolutely. There's certain shows
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: it gets safe to say that you might be the
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: only person on planet Earth who started breaking this bullshit.
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: Billy Crystal's character in uh In when Harry met Sally
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: would read the end of the book before he started
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: the book. Don't even try that ship. I'm not the
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: first person to do it. I just happen to do
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: it on television with television shows. My friends father watch
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: go Ahead. My friend's father watches um uh four Winnings
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: in a funeral and skips the funeral part because it
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: makes him too sad. He knows it's coming, knows it's coming. Now.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: Trevor has agreed to all of you listeners to provide
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: a service for us, and we'll have to send him
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: a gift basket. Joel, can you can you put together
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: a nice gift basket for Trevor? What do you like
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: Trevor Well, Scrubs and Lost. We're gonna send him swag.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: I don't think he wants swag. I think he wants
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: like wine, maybe some cheese. Do you drink, Trevor, I
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: have a handful of vices. Okay, well you'll give Joelle
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: all your vices. We won't to announce them to the
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: world right here, but if you send Joelle your vices,
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: we will send you a gift basket as a thank
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: you for the service you're gonna. Well, we're not drug dealists,
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: so don't be sending ass and we're not sending you right,
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: We're not sending you fucking uh you know, a bottle
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: of crack cocaine or anything like that. We are not
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: drugs or like s and m gear. We're not sending
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: I don't even know where giant you know where to
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: find it? Donald stuff like that. What are you talking about?
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: The pleasures, whips, lubes, oils. I don't know where to
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: find that shit. In in the in West in the
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: West village, there used to be the sex shop and
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: in the window was a giant fist, just a giant fist,
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: and my brother, my brother always thought it was so funny, like,
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: you know, he'd walk behind and be like, what a
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: funny thing to have in the window, and and he
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: would bring his friends by and be like, look, it's
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: just a giant like forearm and a fist, and they
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: would laugh. And one day he came by the window
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: and it wasn't in the window, and he was there
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: to show his friends so they could laugh at the
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: giant fist and forum. And he went in the shop
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: and he said, hey, um, where's the where's the fist?
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: And the shop owner went, Um, the fist is upstairs.
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: Can't you come back? The fist was upstairs. That's great. Anyway,
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: We're not sending you a fist, Trevor, but whatever Elsie
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: want will send you as in a giant. We're gonna
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: make you a big gift basket. Um, so sorry, I digress, Trevor.
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: When we have a question that we can't figure out
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: the answer too, and it's not on scrubs Wiki, we're
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: gonna have a thing like we have with Bill, where
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: we ask Trevor ask scrubs Wiki, Trevor, are you down
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: with that? Are you down to do it? I am
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: happy to help. But the thing is I wrote it
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: on the wiki so I wouldn't have to remember it. Okay,
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: So it sounds like he doesn't want to do it,
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: it sounds absolutely well, cancel the kist. Sorry, I'm sorry
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: to do it. I can you know we're rewatching the show,
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: and so as I've been doing this, this is so embarrassing, right,
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: do you ever do you ever see you ever see that?
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: Do you ever see the firework display where they accidentally
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: shot off like twenty minutes of fireworks at the at
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: one moment, I feel like that's what's happened. I built
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: up my fireworks and they've all exploded in my face.
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: Because Trevor doesn't want to do this, No, I would
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: absolutely love to. And as you rewatch the show, you
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: you've seen new things and adding it to the wiki,
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: and so if you have questions, I'll try my best
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: to Okay, Well, it seems to me you already answered
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: one for us, because we we asked you about whether
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: the Hungry Chicken was the only time that was ever?
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: That was the only time, right, that was the only time.
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: The three of your characters do other celebratory dances once
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: coming up in the season one finale, but it's not
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: exactly Hungry Chicken. Okay, I'm sorry. Do you have a
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: tribute question that you that that you can see just
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: if Trevor might know it. He might not know it
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: because he just said that he doesn't have it all memorized.
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: But he like something that I know the answer to,
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: and I want to I'm testing him or something something
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: something you know that the answer to and just see,
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: just for fun to try and stump Trevor if he
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: might know the answer to. It could be about your character,
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: it could be about scrubs. Any what song did Sam
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: Lloyd sing so beautifully in the Bahamas? Oh? Hey, yeah, yeah,
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: that's very good. I'm sorry it's a little bit obvious.
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: But okay, what judged on my question to Trevor Donald?
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: Do you have a tribute question? You want to try
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: and stump Trevor? I don't. I just want to know
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: if he asked questions for us. Okay, all right, well no,
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: I just thought we could try and stump Trevor my hole.
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: Do you feel like you could stump Trevor? Um? Trevor Um? No? No,
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: I didn't have any all right, do you have any questions? Interesting? Back? Interesting?
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: Fuck off you guys. I was really excited about this.
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: We've already had to return the gift basket. Trevor do
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: you have any questions Sarah Chalk or Donald Fayson. Yes, Sarah,
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: you can have a Trevor's basket. Trevor, do you have
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: any questions for us since we're all together for the
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: first time. I do, I really do, so thanks for
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: having me on. You are talking about the episode My
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: Old Man today, right, Yes we are, Yes, sir, Yes,
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: Oh what a classic John Ritter. Hatty Winston never seen
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: Jade's mom or Turk's dead in the episode. We do
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: see Elliott's parents, but we never see any of her siblings,
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: and so I'm just curious. If you could do dreamcasting
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: from any period of history, who would you want to
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: play either a sibiling or a parent. Wow, that's a
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: great question, Trevor. Very well. Good. We had We had
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: dl huge Leon as my brother, right, Tom Kavanaugh on
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: his Zack's brother. Hattie Winston played my mom. I think
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: she would be married to some like Turk's dad would
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: be someone. Hmmm, that's a tough one. While let's go
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: with Denzel Well, I would I would go I would
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: go with Denzel. That's not necessarily realistic that Turk's dad
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: would be Denzel Washington. I would think it would be well,
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: you know, that's just like ultimate stunt cat. That's being
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: stingy with it, you know what I mean, and being
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: like and being like being obvious and not really doing
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: your If I could have anybody play my dad on Scrubs,
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: who would it have been? I would say like someone
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: like Avery Brooks is someone I would have enjoyed playing
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: my dad. Someone who's Avery Brooks played Hawk on Spencer
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: for Hire. He was also Captain Cisco on Deep Space nine.
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: He was the first African American captain in a Star
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: Trek universe. Anyway I would have him, Avery Brooks would
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: have been a great one. He was one of my
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: mom's professors at Rutgers University. He was a theater professor
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: if I'm if I remember correctly, and he was on
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: television all throughout me growing up. He could do comedy,
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: he can do drama. He's very handsome and so I
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: think he and Hattie Winston could have definitely made Turk.
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: And he's also a bald headed man, so you know
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: it would make sense to Turk matches his dad, Avery Brooks.
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: I just thought of my answer from my mom, Julie
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: Haggerty from Airplane, Do you remember Julie Haggerty from Airplane. Yeah,
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: but why would you you want to explain? I was
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: thinking of well, I was thinking of funny women. Catherine
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: O'Haras another idea, really funny women who might be age appropriate,
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: And those are the first two names that came to mind.
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: I think that she's so incredibly funny. And Katherine o'harrow,
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: of course, who's always been a living legend but is
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: having quite a moment right now with Shit's Creek. I
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: think she's hilarious. Sarah, who would be your siblings? I
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: would have to go with my dream Lisa Kudrow. Um.
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: I have always wanted to work with her and it
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: is still a dream of mine. And Um, I'm such
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: a huge fan of everything she's done, and I just
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: think the way when you just see her read a line,
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: sometimes I just think what that would have looked like
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: on the page, and nobody reads it like her. She's
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: so incredibly talented and funny. And The Comebacks one of
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: my favorite shows ever Die and the first season was incredible,
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: so good, so good, So I feel like, um, the
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: combination of Marquis Post, I mean Marquis Post actually was
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: kind of a dreamcasting for me. I loved herself. She
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: was an amazing I was waiting for us to bring
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: to bring her up. She did such a great job.
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: What's the gentleman who played your dad's name? Because he
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: was so good also, and he's in so many things, dude,
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: and we don't make we talk about Hattie, we talk
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: about Markie, we talk about John Ritter. We don't talk
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: about that guy, and he's been in so much stuff.
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: Joel's on and I can see her furiously typing as
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: we speak. Don't worried. I joined. I joined the podcast
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: with the wicky already open. Oh, Trevor, can you beat Joel?
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: Trevor go uld be Lane Davies. He was so great him,
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: Kelso's im and Kelso in their in their um their
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: wrestling suits, circling each other. Yeah. You know what we
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: could do is just keep watching the episode or talking
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: about the episode, and keep Trevor on because you know
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: he might and Trevor, feel free, don't be shy, feel
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: free to weigh in since you know the episode probably
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: better than than we do. After you get all these
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: all these years later. Is that okay? Do you guys
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: like that plan? I love it. Let's go yeah, I
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: love it because I just figured out how to do
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: gallery views, so now I can see everybody is fantastic. Whatever.
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: You'll be the first caller we've ever had hang out
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: for the going through of the episode, which we've barely done,
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: and we were an hour and twenty three minutes into this.
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: It's Sarah. It's Sarah and her tech problems. I mean,
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: it's the bean and cheese kissidilla about when John Ritter
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: of checks Rowdy's balls and says the rouser Rowdy's a
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: boy dog. I mean, going back, going back to just
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: like minute one when he walks in the door and
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: he says, get some chips. The look on his face
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: and that like smiling, like nobody can do it like that.
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: He's so good. I wrote that down too, Sarah. I
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: wrote that down. The look on his face as he
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: exits frame when he says get some chips. He's like this,
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: he really just and I remember, you know, he's not
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: in that many scenes. We said we we had planned
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: that he was going to be a recurring character, and
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: he was supposed to come and do another episode and
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: he passed the night before he was supposed to come
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: to our set and as Donald had mentioned in another podcast,
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: they frantically rewrote the episode and had Tom Cavanaugh come
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: and be my get the guest star and be my brother.
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: But um, so, we had planned that he was going
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: to be a recurring character, and he was just you know,
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: making lots of stuff up left and right, and it
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: was I remember just thinking it was so funny. Oh man,
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: I pooed a little. Was kind of jumping all the
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: way to the end of the show. But that was
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: something that he came up with on his own. It
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: was just supposed to be pulled my finger, and he parts, yeah,
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: but I remember I remember you getting so excited about
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: that and being like and coming upstairs because we were
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: all working that day, and you coming up and says,
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: you're like, yo too, I pulled his finger. He went,
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: I pooed a little. I never thought I was going
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: to be in the show. I just thought he was
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: riffing and being silly, and it was so funny. I mean,
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: I know it's a fart joke, but it was still hilarious.
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: And the face he makes, he's like, I pooed a little.
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: But then after after he says that his face gets
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: like he gets a little disgusted in himself too, like,
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: oh gosh, and when he in the cafeteria, when he uh,
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: he just palms the jello and brings it to the table.
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: He was just doing shit like that, just like just
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: coming up with the weirdest, funniest choices. Yeah, he um.
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: And the best thing about that I pooed a little
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: scene too, was it was also such everything about that scene.
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: It was such a quick scene and it had everything.
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: It was heartbreaking and funny and then funny and then heartbreaking,
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: you know what it was. So you guys were both
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: so great in that scene. Well, it's hard, you know,
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: it's funny. You know again, the show's twenty two minutes
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: without commercials, and you have to service all three of
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: our storylines and of course the janitor with with Arlie
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: Ermie um and uh, and you know again, it was like, wow,
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: it's hard to it's it's it's tricky to to do
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: three and a half stories on on all those different
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: people in twenty two minutes. But I thought they did
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: a good job with it. Yeah, it's it's really interesting
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: how Bill was able to do that, because there is
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: a lot of information that needed to be shoveled out
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: in this and they found I mean not just the
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: parents coming, but also Turke and Elliott winning this award
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: from a couple of episodes ago. You know what I mean,
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: they're studying and they're working together is paid off and
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: now they're you know, about to go present what they
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: study to a bunch of people. And also JD being
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: pissed off about that, you know, and how he was
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: dying to be able to do something like that, but
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: wasn't necessarily given the opportunity because Turke and Elliot were
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: much like the handshake, much like the handshake. Now, Sarah
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: at eight twenty three, you have a very impressive piece
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: of medical jargon. Yes, I mean both neither Donald and
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: I could do that as well as you did that.
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: But but you you really must have worked on that.
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: Do you remember doing that? I mean, I feel like
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: in general, I remember the medical jargon feeling like a
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: language it because you just obviously like I don't know
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: what any of that means. Sometimes I would try and
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: look it up so that I maybe thinking, maybe this
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: will help me memorize it if I have a sort
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: of basic understanding of it. But I remember little chunks
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: of like I remember my first piece of medical jargon
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: I ever had to say was superior mesenteric in sufficiency,
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: and I don't know what that means. I feel like
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: it always felt like just kind of memorizing a phonetic
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: almost just yeah, as if you were just it was
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: just another language. But I kind of liked it because
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: I saw it as like a weird challenge, especially when
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: it was something that was that long. Um. I always
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: found that, like one trick was writing it out by
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: hand with like a pen and just kind of you know,
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: putting it on paper a few times. I feel like
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: it's a bit of a visual. I feel like this
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: one you did in one Breath too. You were like, yeah,
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: but that's not hard for me because that's just how
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: I talk always, the one breath part not a problem.
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: The medical stone and yeah, that the stuff was ore.
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: At eight forty six, I have to use a payphone
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: to call to call my dad. Yes, in the middle
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: of the hallway. Yeah there's a payphone, just like in
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: the hallway. Well there might be. But isn't it funny
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: this many years later seeing someone that I had to
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: call my dad and reach for a payphone. I mean,
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: kids today probably don't know what a payphone is. Yeah,
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: that's pretty crazy of a question. When we started this show,
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: was there were there pay phones in the I think
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: the hospital. Weren't there payphones at the on the bottom
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: floor or something like wooden pay Yeah, I remember there
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: being wooden pay phones or something like. I don't know
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: if it was a proper if it was real, but
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: there was definitely it was a payphone era still yeah, yeah,
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: say totally still existing. Remember when we started, you know,
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: we we talked about how we got the Blackberries for
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: the first time and how exciting it was. Right, Oh,
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: that was such a huge deal. I mean there were
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: cell phones, but you had to be like wealthy. They
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: were very, very expensive, you know, it was like a luxury. Yeah. Anyway,
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: going back in time to two minutes fifty when Marquis
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: Post says, is there um a rule against looking pretty?
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: And that was sort of always a run with when
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: Marquie Post came back in future episodes, and I remember
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: if Bill had been this one line where I'm talking
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: on the pay phone to Marky Post and she I say, yeah, yeah,
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: I know, mom, short hair gives me pig face. And
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: Bill would find things with the background and with us
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: that we're just kind of like just true to all
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: of our appearance and like we would do you feel
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: short hair? Short hair definitely gives me pig face. It's
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: not attractive, Like I don't I grew up like people
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: saying like please don't like you actually just can't cut
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: you You can't have a bob, you can't just like
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: cut your hair off, which obviously I don't. Three no, no, no,
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: it definitely, But don't you quess Remember that there'd be
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: things in the script where they would it would be
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: actually about our appearance, like I haven't will right here,
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: you don't look like Gary Busey. What are you talking about? Yeah?
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: First last, you do not look like we look by
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: the way, and Hattie Winston doesn't look like Morgan Freeman.
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: For the record, right, for the record, right, I have
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: this this mole right here, Trevor. You can see it.
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: It has three hairs that grow to it. I remember
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: that Trevor add that mole to the scrubs WICKI don't, Trevor,
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: don't add that to the scrubs Wiking. But I literally
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: like had to say a lime where I was like,
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: oh yeah, chin, hair's back, Like there were so many
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: do you guys remember things that were like space? So
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: do you have to trim the hairs in your in
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: your mole regularly? Oh? Yeah? When when Charlie was four,
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: he looked at me so seriously, like completely deadpan, and
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: he was like, Mama, I have terrible news. And I
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: said what, and he goes, you're growing a beard. You
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: have to tend to that mole or it's covered now
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: with the mustache. Right. Well, I got a whole face,
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: face full of hair right now. But I know, but
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: I have a question about your mole. Ever have to
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: tend to it like it's it's been checked out. It's no,
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: I'm saying it doesn't grow its own hairs. Of course
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: it grows. It's a it's a it's a mole. All
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: moles growl hair. Oh, so you have to trim your
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: mole hairs? No, never, I know, it's all. I feel
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: like it's more acceptable on a male than it is
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: on a female. That's exactly the point. Donald doesn't have
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: to trim his mole Hair's life. To pluck these three
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: mole hairs out of my chin. I feel like moles
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: should not have hairs. I think, like everybody, no matter
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: what your gender should trim your mole hair. I will
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: say this, it's a lot. It's a lot sharper than
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: the hair that grows above my lip and around my chin.
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: Like you, I could, you know, cut somebody when kissing
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: them and it's just the mole hair and there's nothing
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: pat patting the area like more facial hair. The mole
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: hair could cut somebody. Could It's like a like a needle.
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: Have you ever pierced Casey's face with your mole hair? No? No,
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: I don't even think Casey knows I have a mole
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: Ever since I've been I've had this beard and something.
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: She likes the beard and mustache. She might not like it.
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: This pull it suits you, but she likes the beard
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: and mustache. I think it looks really good on you.
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: I can't remember the last time seeing it this full.
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: I don't think yes. Is it? Is it a pandemic thing?
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: Are you not going to cut it till the end
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: of the pandemic? I kind of like it. I think
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: I'm gonna like it for as long as I possibly can.
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: Even the hair on my head, even though it's not
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: you know, even though I have a receding hairline, I
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: like the way my hair looks on the top of
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: my head. You know, I think I look like freaking
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: you know, the dad from Good Times. You know, Oh
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: it suits you. I like it. I kind of like it.
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: I kind of like Jefferson. My last my last thought
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: on on mole hairs. I was working on a job
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: and it was late and everyone was stressed out and
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: we just needed to lighten the mood a little. So
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: the makeup artist put those individual eyelashes out of every
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: freckle and mole on my face and neck, just like
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: a little kind of group of these little fake eyelashes.
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: So that I went to craft service and people thought,
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: like I didn't really know what to say, like kind
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: of wanted to be like, um, you have a but
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: just like out of every one, every one of yours
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: and freckles, just like a little grouping of three. It's weird, dude,
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: It's crazy thinking that. You're like, you know, it would
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: be funny if you just put hair, because it was
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: like it was like it'd be a conversation. People be like,
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: not sure what it like, you have a it's just
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: a you've got it. Um, I laughed out loud at
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: fifteen fifty eight, when Sarah you say, I'm not crazy?
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: Am I No? And it feel like it's like the
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: first example of Elliott starting to lose it. And then
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: that opened up like a whole new world for her
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: of crazy. I laughed at bet your powdered bottom. You
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: can bet your powdered bottom. And I laughed at it
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: because it reminded me of Annie. The sun will come
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: out tomorrow. Bet your powderrow, he says, who says, bet
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: your powdered bottom? I lost that. John C McGinley says
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: it to you. Johnny has a great moment in fifteen
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: nineteen where he's like, just dude, just just berating me
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: as per usual, making me feel like shit, and he
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: knows so badly that I'm dying for a for a
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: father figure leader because my dad isn't exactly that, And
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: and and then he just at the end it gives
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: me like the most beautiful little He could have done
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: a much worse job. And it's like he just gives
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: you just a little seed of a compliment so that
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: JD could see that like he was he was there
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: for me, you know, just a little bit, not even
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: give too much, you know. And then in the end
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: of the episode, he buys it all back, and that
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: was such a great scene with both of you, And
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: it was mostly done in a wonder like except for
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: his little chunk at the end. To you, it was
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: kind of mostly a wander down the hallway was so great. Yeah,
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: I want to give a big shout out also to
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: you know, Hattie Winston's performance coming in and Judy's performance.
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: They pretty much had to mimic each other for the
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: whole episode. Yeah, and it had to be convincing to
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: for you to believe at the end for the joke
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: to work where she's like, did you are you dating me?
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: Because I'm exactly like your mother, it had to be
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: almost perfect that, you know, they did the exact same thing.
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: Also for Carla to realize, holy shit, I'm his mom.
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: And I just I thought it was really cool how
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: they they did it so well. You know, it was
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: really like they had worked on this for, you know,
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: the week instead of that day when they met. They
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: had worked on it for at least a week because
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: they even the way they were talking, it sounded they
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: sounded alike. And yeah, and there's some there's some subtle
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: things too, like at nine forty when they're in the
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: when they're in the break room, her top matches Judy scrubs, right,
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: they're wearing the same colors and they both love the
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: same color. And yeah, and then poor Hattie trying to
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: do that freeze thing. They made it. I don't know
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: why they did that. They should have just frozen the
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: left side of the frame. But like, she did such
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: a good job. He did as good a job as
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: as most people can do. But she's not exactly ready
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: for Washington Square Park being a frozen statue of liberty. Right, well,
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: she did blank, You're absolutely right she did. She did. Yes,
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: it's hard, I mean, but she was like, you know,
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: moving right, you're trying to trying to keep it together.
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: And I really like the joke that I really like
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: the payoff for it, where you know, Carla asks Urk.
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: She's like, you know, are you dating me? Because I
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: remind you of your mother? And Churk goes, baby, that's
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: exactly right, I'm don That was one of my favorite scenes.
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: You and Judy were both so good in that scene.
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: It's one of my favorite scenes in the episode when
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: you're like, you know, yeah, you're both smart, strong and
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: smart and independent and yeah. I mean I didn't want
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: to Judy. I wanted to ask you Donald, like, do
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: you I mean, I don't know why Judy was so
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: worried about that. I mean, would you say that there's
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: qualities in Casey that overlap with your mom? I mean,
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: I I think I would. I mean, both great moms,
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: very loving and absolutely well. I think I think if
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: you're a mom, if you're a mother, most likely you
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: have a lot of love in your heart and you're
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: and you'll do anything for your kids. And so I
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: think all moms or most I don't think that's universally
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: true for the absolutely you know what, You're absolutely right,
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: it's not universally true. But you know, everyone with a
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: shitty parent right now is like come home. But right,
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: it's like fuck you, my mom sucked. But but but yeah,
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: So Casey and my mom are definitely uh, definitely have
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: that in comment. But for the most part, they're very different. Uh,
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: they're both big personalities, both both for both Shirley and
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: You are like the life of the party. And last yeah,
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: but my mom's not a ballbuster the way my wife
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: is a ballbuster. My wife, you know what I mean.
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: If I do something great my mom's like, holy shit,
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: that was the best thing I've ever seen in my life.
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: Or if I you know, if I fuck up royally,
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: She's like, you know what, we'll get him next time, honey.
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: You know what I mean. Like to have a good
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: time and throw a few back, no doubt, but well, no,
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: come on, shut the fuck up. Nor we can edit
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: that out. But I've had a few drinks with surely
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: in the day. You know. I was about to say,
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: my mom is a way bigger drinker than than than
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: Casey is. But like, so, my mom is very supportive Casey.
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: If I do something really dope, it's hard to get
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: a compliment and a compliment out of her, you know
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: what I mean. I'll do something dope and she'll be like, well,
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: are you supposed to do that? That's about That's how
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: I supposed to be. Don't get don't get all excited
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: because you did that. That's you're supposed to be able
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: to do that shit, damn it, you know what I mean.
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: But you will be like it was amazing, But don't
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: you think And I think this is true for a
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: lot of men and that you and definitely true for
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: Bill Lawrence and might even be true for me that
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: you like a tough woman who's gonna bust your balls
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: and keep you on your toes. Absolutely absolutely, But there
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: comes a time where you want some form of affirmation
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: or some form of you know, you want something, you know,
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: some form of accolades, like I'll do something and I'll
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: do something good, and she's like, you should have been
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: able to do that anyway? Who gives it? To move on?
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: I do something bad? You? I want my Sometimes I
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: want my wife to be like, oh, it's okay, baby,
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: don't worry about it. We're gonna figure this out. She'd
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: be like, you fucked up? You know you well, you know,
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: as those of you who think are who are thinking
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: that that this podcast might lead to him and his
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: wife having a conversation, you needn't worry because she doesn't
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: listen to the podcast. Still, I love your wife. She
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: is a she is a ballbuster. But she has a
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: saying that she she does not sense her a single
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: word she says, which I like a lot in people.
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: And she also says all right when she's about to
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: say something that she's worried you might, like, you know,
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: judge her, for she goes all right, No, judgments, all right,
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: let me tell you. And then she like it's like
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: it's like no judgments, question mark, Okay, if there's not
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: gonna be any judgments, I'm gonna lay it out. We
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: can have this conversation being judgmental. We're not doing this.
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: But I but I like that expression because it's like
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: you want men to be fully honest with you, because
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: then you need you need to pre sign this document
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: that says you will not judge what I'm about to say.
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: But then that But also this doesn't with this whole thing.
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: It doesn't necessarily track with the beginning and how Turk
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: is sad that his mom's coming, because if he should
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: be excited that his mom's coming because he's dating a
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: woman that reminds him of his mom and he knows it.
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: So part of me is like, I don't necessarily get
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: why Turk is so disappointed in his mom showing up.
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: But that's just it's an ass bill. Guys. No, it's
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: not worthy of an ass bill because he's just gonna
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: say five six seventy, get the music going, and he's
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: he's out of control. That guy. I really love that
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: Elliott comes out to her momma but that's funny when
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: the guys and the guys in radiology owe me some money.
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: Oh that was great. All right, we need to wrap
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: the superside anyway. Also one other funny thing too, when
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: Johnny c um is uh telling you right at the
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: beginning of the episode, we'd like to get bring your
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: dad with you to take a vehicle. Take him secure
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: a vehicle, a balloon, a car, tricycle, anything and take
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: him with you. It is a great life. Um, Sarah,
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: we're so well. First of all, Trevor, thank you for
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: coming on. You didn't really have much to say, Trevor. Second,
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: we didn't ask him anything he said. You know, well,
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: the three of us are big personalities. Yelling into the
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: microphone Trevor. You know he's letting us do our thing. Yeah, fan,
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: I don't want you know, if I were another fan,
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: I wouldn't want me a fan talking the whole episode.
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: You have every right too, You have every This is
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: listen as much as this is Zach and My podcast.
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: Everyone who comes on, Joel, Dan, Trevor, everyone who's on
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: here is open to is welcome to have conversation at right.
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: I wish Dan would talk more. He never talks. He's
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: very shy. The only time he got Dan to ever
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: talk was when he got really passionate about fucking hating Spectrum.
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: Do you remember that? I do remember that Dan like
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: turned off his mute and fucking went on a monologue
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: about Spectrum. Can we can you? Can you tell everybody
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: about your dad and how he's a hero? I'd love
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: to tell us. Sure. Yesterday, my father was at the
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: protest of the Mayor's house and he was approached by
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: Fox News. And you know, my dad is a white
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: dude who lives in a relatively nice neighborhood in Los Angeles,
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: So and my feeling is that Fox News came up
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: to him looking for some sort of take along the
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: lines of I don't like what's going on here. What
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: happened was my father, very eloquently, in my opinion, laid
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: out exactly what the problem is in this country right now,
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: laying down how we are here in this country on
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: stolen land that was built on the backs of four
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: hundred years of slavery, and after years and years of
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: not being listened to, of being pushed down and silenced
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: over and over and over, what do people expect at
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: this point? This is going to keep happening until these
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: three officers are brought to justice for standing by and
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: doing nothing, Until actual reform is made, until our country
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: actually accounts for the sins of its creation. Until we
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: do that, until we actually make that effort, nothing will change.
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: And that is what he laid out on Fox yesterday.
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: And I think that interviewer did not get what she wanted.
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: Did they air it? Did they air it? Not only
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: did they air it, but I was able to retweet
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: it and it's currently sitting at you know, four hundred
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: and twenty thousand likes on Twitter. So will you will
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: you send that me that? Of course that was beautifully said.
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: I have to say I love it. The running gag
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: that Dan doesn't speak, and then when he does he
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: speaks incredibly articulately and does a long monologue. First about Spectrum,
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: now about Injustice. Dan, please contribute more to the show.
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: Don't hide out in your in your little tech bubble.
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: You honor me. Thank you. I appreciate that. Sarah Chalk,
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: we love you. I love you guys too. Thanks for
